When I wake up I’m thankful that I slept through the night. ‘Cause that is the only time I feel alright.

after eight years my amity affliction shirt finally died (rest in peace). wanted to incorporate the merch design into their entry in my concert scrapbook-ish thing so made this sticker and v happy with how it came out (working in negative space is my enemy)

There's few feelings like going through a panic attack or particularly persistent suicidal thoughts... getting in the shower... letting the water run over you... turning on a song and just.... screaming.
Particularly the "KICK IT!!!" at the beginning of Drag the Lake by Amity Affliction is cleansing.

Laying here utterly undone for the thousandth time from the progression from Never Alone to Death’s Hand on Let the Ocean Take Me and Amity Affliction’s general themes of non-linear recovery. Never Alone is all “we’re in this together, we’re gonna be ok now,”
yet the song ends with a voicemail from an unanswered call at 3AM from a friend trying to reach out for help because he’s strongly considering killing himself.
And then we proceed to the absolute DIVINE FORCE that is Death’s Hand.
Once again about salvation through connection but from a position of begging for his life from rock bottom. But then near the end the breakdown:
They play this song at almost every live show they do, I’ve seen them twice (third soon) and the energy is always absolutely insane start to finish but when this breakdown hits, with hundreds of people in various points in their battles screaming this together, middle fingers up, the singer full tilt screaming back together with us in a way that leaves no question about the authenticity of it, the pit absolutely EXPLODING after it…. There’s just no fucking words. I’m in tears again. Masterpiece.

Some friends will depart
some stay the same
Some will fuel the anger
some heal the pain
Some will help me up
some tear me down
But what goes around comes around
