I’m finally diving head in on putting together a character scrapbook out of my campaign notes for Dúo Rong.

Even though it’s a project that I’d started way back in late 2020 when I first got my cricut, I haven’t been seriously keeping up with the project in the way I had intended.

But! I’ve officially broken down the campaign into arcs to make the task more manageable, while also giving myself time to go back & draw little moments that I never got around to. And while I have to resize certain images to fit the 5 x 8 format, I find myself having to add on to a few of them. Which is…interesting 😅 mixing my old & new art styles.

I think I’ll only repost the ones that have large changes to them, but first I’m working my way through the essentials (a fullbody ref & all her character sheet/world info).

But! I can’t wait to share more about this campaign because it is so near & dear to me, & while it’s been really funny sharing them with next to no context, I really can’t shut up about all the subtle nuances these idiots have going for them & their relationships with each other 🤣

Anyways! My prints for Season 1 : Arc 1 arrive in the next few days & I can’t wait to see this come together!

gonna be honest, I don't know a lot about her, so tbh you can just go off with history & "headcanons" (lil extra things about your oc! that're actually canon.)

but if you're looking for a specific question: How did she get to where she is today? What was the driver for the change that made her the bitter (angsty) draconic-looking person she is in the present?

I’m gonna answer the specific question because if I don’t, I WILL ramble and it WILL be a mess

Anyways back on topic:

The biggest reason why she became the angsty dragon person we all know and maybe love

Long story short: a lot of murder and a cursed paperweight

For the first few years of her life, Diana was raised by her “siblings”. They weren’t family by blood but the group raised as if she was their own (not bad for a bunch of teens and young adults who all need therapy and barely have their lives put together). And for a while, everything was going well. Then one of her brothers turned traitor.

When Diana was 6, her eldest sister landed her first big gig as a singer. To celebrate, the family planned a nice party on the night of her first performance. Things were going great and everyone was having a wonderful time until their brother, Kalos, walked in late. Earlier in the day, everyone noted that Kalos was angrier than normal. He would blow up at the slightest thing and got into a verbal argument with their other brother Kiri. He even boycotted the performance much to everyone’s disappointment. When he came back later that night calmer than before, they just assumed whatever was bothering him was dealt with. How wrong they were.

For reasons unknown, Kalos went on a rampage. His “siblings” -the very same people he came to know and love for years- murdered by his own hands. The only reason Diana came out alive was due to her big brothers and sisters. Those at the party put themselves in front of her to block the blows, and just Kalos was about to put an end to his baby sister, Kiri came home. While Kalos decided to skip the festivities, Kiri had to take up an extra shift at his job and would be coming home late that night. So when he walked through the door with his siblings dead on the floor and his brother about to kill his baby sister, all hell broke loose. The resulting fight was brutal beyond measure. Heavily injured, Kiri took Diana to the closest place for help which happened to be his place of work and Amore Bellridge’s summer estate. There he succumbed to his injuries, leaving Diana as the sole survivor. No living relatives, betrayed by her own brother, and forever scarred mentally and physically, Diana was placed in the care of Kiri’s employer, Alistair Balckthorne: head butler of the Bellridge family. For the next several years, Diana was raised along side Amore, acting as friend, sister, and bodyguard.

As for why Diana is becoming more and more draconic, that’s all due to a promise she made. Back when her siblings were alive, Kiri would read Diana stories about gods and monsters, heroes and dragons. One such story involved a certain magical item. Legend said that whoever finds this lost item would be granted a wish. This was one of Diana’s favorite stories and so the two of them made a promise: “When she was old enough, they would go on an adventure together and find this item.” At the time, Kiri made the promise with the intention of making Diana go to bed. He figured she’d forget when she grew older and if not, just take her traveling for a year and see what happens. But Diana did not forget. And after his death, she made it her personal mission to fulfill this last wish. At 18, Diana left her home at the Bellridge estate to travel the world in search of this item.

It took years of searching and hard work, but at last she found what she was looking for. Tucked away in a hidden city in the desert guarded by a tribe of Dragonborn, there laid a magic orb said to contain the powers of a dead and powerful god. Diana was not the first to find this city in and others before her have gotten past the army of guards, but no one has ever left the area alive. The poor thieves who reached the orb before her died an excruciating death mere moments after so much as touching the damn thing. But much to the surprise of the guards (and Diana), she did not fall over dead. Orb in hand, she fled from the scene, running as far as she could before exhaustion took a hold of her. The next morning, Diana woke up with her prize by her side and fresh new set of purple scales across her face. Over the next several years (and into the start of the campaign), more scales and a set of horns would grow from her body, slowly transforming her into something inhuman….

So Diana accepts a bodyguard job on behalf of the party, with the slight chance that they can catch the people who set fire to Agatha’s forest. After borrowing some dresses from Agatha’s massive wardrobe, they pull up to a good sized mansion to find out that their job for the night is guarding this Monopoly ass looking guy who seems to be running some shady business under the guise of a ball.

While splitting up to see what they can find out about the deal being made, they end up on different floors of the mansion. Being the only one who has seen the faces of the two others they’re looking for, Diana is the one who notices Amoré bumping shoulders with the Lady in Blue she chased through Agatha’s forest. Amoré just notices she’s the only masked person at this event, as well as the fact that her ears are a little…mutilated.

The Lady in Blue disappears up to the second floor while they swap information Diana picked from the courtesans & Amoré eavesdropped from their client at the foot of the stairs before Diana heads back up to follow her.

The first batch of pictures for Amoré's character journal are here! Also I have been so super sick that I've literally had nothing to do but to work on this for like almost 2 weeks so...

The cover to cover tour officially starts here. All I can say about the front & back is that I lament my lack of experience with my Cricut when I made these decals. I only had 2 "fun" colors to work with at the time & I was still getting comfortable drawing in Procreate, so my silhouette art leaves a lot to be desired compared to some stuff I've made recently. I also found it's incredibly easy to burn this leather book.

But she's volume one, everything with her is a learning experience, & I realized as much as it helps to have a mini heat press for tight corners & small spaces, the cloth barrier they suggest you use between the vinyl & the iron tends to make things harder to press on this scale. So instead I gotta quickly tap straight on the transfer film & hope I don't burn anything around it :(´◦ω◦｀):ﾟﾟ

So at the risk of thoroughly exposing my inner theater kid, Amoré set the precedent with how I went forward creating campaign characters. I started off collecting 5 songs to make a mini story arc (almost like a show choir set list 🙃) that helps me figure out an outline for the kind of story I wanna give them.

Somehow Amoré ended up with a truly horrendous blend of rock & theatre. Absolutely incredibe. No wonder she's always such a dramatic bitch.

It was a lot easier to go in & add little decals around these lyrics. I'm definitely cursed with the Too Much™ gene, but I enjoy the little pops of color they give ✨ plus it justifies me hoarding all these vinyl scraps printing stuff this small lol.

Stat sheet!

In all honesty, as my first character I had no fucking clue what I was doing when I placed these & if I could go back & change one thing I'd probably swap her Intelligence & her Wisdom. She’s definitely more people smart than book smart.

But everything else is...very accurate. She has all the upper body strength of a chicken nugget. Plus on top of the (already) negative I traded disadvantage on everything DEX for magic crystal shoes that can be periodically harvested. Just a way for her to carry around the family fortune without actually having to return to the vault✨

For something that started so average, her CON became a monster & always comes in clutch for her alcohol tolerance. I've played variations of her across a few different one shots & I always manage to roll well for anything alcohol related. The dice do respect a bit 🤣

Spells on the other hand, I floundered with a lot at first because we’re not a combat heavy game, but then I found Chaos Bolt & that was that. It’s essentially Amoré in spell form & I’ve had a ton of fun with it over the years. Also Mage Armor cuz my girl is SO DISTRESSINGLY SQUISHY.

Cantrips were more or less a bit of a toss up. Message was fun for the sheer idea of her using it to talk shit during social events without being caught. But aside from Light serving fun backstory purposes the other 3 are kinda just what looked fun ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ unless you count the idea that she would absolutely delight in zapping handshakes.

From there, I wanted to extend the world map made by our wonderful DM @cappierong into a full scroll. Ya know, for the aesthetic ✨

Our campaign started in Civania, where Amoré's main Estate is. I just wanted a quick mock up to reference, so I edited a preexisting picture I found that checked all the boxes (large, on a plateau, accessible only by bridge) and then absolutely smothered it in flowers.

But anyways... This is primarily where Diana & Amoré grew up together in their decade of backstory ✨

There was probably waaaay to much back & forth trying to keep the continuity between stuff I've already drawn & this big reference. But I think it turned out pretty ok? Not like if I make a mistake anyone will really know lol.

Scaling was also another big issue I had, & I moments where I thought something was too big I just kinda handwaved it away like "ehhhhh she's from a stupid rich family." But now I have a NEED to draw baby Diana & Amoré around like, the statue gardens or something cuz I feel like certain parts of this place are definitely ominous 👀 especially for children...

And lastly we have the back cover & the High Noble political relationship map! I normally have this closer to the front but for layout purposes it'll be here. I kinda feel like I need to do more for the decoration of it but I can’t think of anything else to add at the moment.

But now! Other than a family portrait that I've always wanted to draw, I think I'm ready to move onto the art for Season 1 : Arc 2. It's a pretty hefty amount of art in comparison to others, so I gotta get busy. Especially since I think I'm gonna have to draw a few comics *sobs*

*clears throat* *pulls out pitch pipe* why do I only wanna draw you when you CRY

I can’t believe I’ve never completed a full picture of Amoré & Agatha, since she’s another NPC I tend to yoink for AUs a lot.

Anyways, this is the first addition to the character scrapbook that I never got around to drawing when it happened in session.

Amoré has a really complicated relationship with her (great 10x??) Aunt. She didn’t even know she existed until her parents sent her off to get some magic items appraised by a reclusive relation that lives in the woods.

Within half a day of being there, she got hit with the knowledge that this woman now has full guardianship duties over her. Despite the fact that Amoré had only seen her parents as a convenient but minor annoyance for many years, it still completely blindsided her that they could make this decision at all. And without her finding out until she was already out of the Estate.

This woman she barely knows somehow holds all the authority to strip her of her family name & status. She declares that Amoré has failed to perform well on a task she set for her, bringing into question her worthiness as the next heir to the Bellridge Legacy. She suspects that Amoré has lost her connection to her Angelic Guide, & is forcing her to face the reality of it.

Also…she stole two highly trained Bellridge staff & gave her Sylphi as collateral, which Amoré did not hesitate to make it known she found it to be “not a fair trade.”

After their first night in Agatha’s home, Amoré’s old nightmares begin to resurface after a few months of deceptive peace. And now she is torn between shoving away this woman who pokes mercilessly at her most tender wounds, & leaning on her as a source of support as the only person who could probably guide her through her broken Guide connection.

Too bad Amoré is allergic to asking for help ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok so, I have an insane amount of GoT brainrot for someone who has spent the last decade actively avoiding this whole franchise. But I have listened to enough video essays that I may as well have read & watched the whole thing.

I have no idea when in the timeline this would take place or how they would even manage to fucking meet with where I placed them, but this is my fun little AU that I've put just a little too much time into. Everything lined up just a little too well based on our character backstories, & it was kinda fun to put them in a more serious setting/art style.

Diana would be an apprentice at the House of Black & White in Braavos training to be a Faceless Man. (I still find it so funny that the best place to drop her agnostic ass was in a religious death cult) The one place where being partially blind would have her at an advantage.

Amoré would be a Hightower in Oldtown, at the center of politics between The Faith of the Seven & the Citadel most likely secretly having weird dablings in ancient magic.

Sylphi as a Crannogman in The Neck, blessed with Greensight.

I will absolutely have to draw our good Bluestone Bois because I'd definitely place them in Dorne. I am both excited & dreading my attempt to draw the Water Gardens 🫠

When you sneak into a speak easy to find out who hired a bunch of mercenaries to set fire to your Aunt’s(?) enchanted forest…but you end up getting distracted by an arm wrestling match.

Amoré volunteered Diana to compete against the current champion for shits & giggles. But Diana declined & was subsequently mocked by the current reigning champion, prompting Sylphi to jump in to defend her honor. Yeah, Sylphi was spat on for her efforts…

So naturally she became the next challenger & summoned her Bear Totem to absolutely decimate the guy. She was then able to convince Diana to a few friendly matchs afterwards, which Amoré took full advantage of by opening up a betting pool since they both got enhanced strength from the Spirit Totem. She made a lot of money that afternoon.

Oh and they picked up a bodyguard job. But more on that later…

We made it to Arc 2 guys!

Campaign sketch dump!

It feels like an eternity since I actually finished a drawing of them. But have some Holy Kingdom shenanigans! Absolutely terrifying experience! Loved being a caster in a kingdom that only allows the clergy to do magic. 10/10 would not recommend.

Also PSA if you steal a False Hydra they CANNOT be sustained by Goodberries alone! They need the flesh of mortals to sustain themselves I do not care what your Druid Health Class taught you!
