AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER Day of Black Sun Pt. 2 / November 27 2007
1K notes · View notes
Katara: I want to be a pirate but a good pirate. One who reclaims things stolen from the water tribe.
Aang: Oooooooh
Katara: Aang I need you to talk me out of it.
Aang: Why would I talk you out of it? It sounds fun and you'd be helping your people. It's perfect for you.
Katara: Ugh you don't get it. Sokka!
Sokka: What?
Katara: Tell me I can't be a pirate.
Sokka: You can't be a pirate.
Katara: How dare you tell me what to do!
Sokka, spluttering: What? You told me to tell you that!
Katara: Oh so now you do what I tell you to do?
Toph: She has a point.
Sokka: Toph!
Zuko: Look, Katara. Living on the seas isn't easy. I would know, I commanded my own ship for years.
Katara: Yes, but Zuko, I'd actually be good at it.
Zuko:
Tumblr media
Toph: Wow you're on a roll today Sugar Queen. Did you eat rocks for breakfast or something?
Katara, sighing: I'm sorry guys.
Aang: It's okay. We only wanted to help.
Katara: I know. Aang, listen, can do me a favor? Can you summon her?
Aang: Who? Azula?
Katara: Yes. Her. I need to speak with her.
Aang, exasperated: Katara, Azula isn't "summoned".
Katara: Well tell her to slither out of the smoke and shadows to meet me in my room. It's important.
======================
Azula: You summoned me?
Katara, muttering under her breath: Unfortunately.
Katara: Look Azula, I need you take a moment out from dating my ex and making children cry to insult me.
Azula: I'm not dating my husband, Katara. And I'm busy. Why don't you cry to the Avatar and get him to solve your problems. As usual.
Katara: Because Aang is terrible at talking people out of things. He talks people in to things. He couldn't even talk you out of marriage!
Azula: True. You—
Katara: Only insult me over my ideas of becoming a pirate and of sailing the seas and reclaiming artifacts and, and, and—
Katara: *sighs*
Katara: You get the picture.
Azula: What's wrong with your ideas? Besides the obvious.
Katara: My family is finally whole and our tribe is rebuilding itself. They need me now more than ever.
Azula: They need you now? I thought Sokka wanted to be chief.
Katara: Ha! Sokka couldn't be the chief of his own socks. The responsibilities were always going to fall on me regardless of titles. I can't abandon my duties to chase some silly adventure.
Azula: ...
Katara, taking a deep breath: That's why I need you to completely eviscerate my self-esteem so I never even consider the possibility ever again. Please.
Azula: Very well.
~~~~ Moments Later ~~~~
Katara, storming out: I'M GOING TO BECOME A PIRATE TO SPITE AZULA!
Aang, whispering to Azula: What did you say to her?
Azula: That women can't be pirates.
Aang: Yeah that would do it.
I FINALLY FIGURED OUT!
you guessed it. ATLA THEORY TIME!!!!
Remember this scene?
Tumblr media
Azula was able to trick Toph in this scene, and I think it's not because her heart is cold (wink at the antis and shows my middle finger) nor she has her breathing under control, nor because she is just this manipulative.
I think it's because of the addition of so much unnecessary and unknown information for Toph. She includes 3 colour names and her "height", wich I severely doubt it was even taught for Toph. Also, she was describing the shape on an animal differently of what it looks like, wich would have to include Toph's imagination for her to figure how the fuck it looked- wich is also a hint. Toph doesn't know how a platypus-bear looks like. She can tell its weight probably, and its general shape and form, but not how it looks.
Therefore, I think Toph was mostly stunned by the clear discrepancy of what she was sensing, what was being described and especially the riddled information.
Not sure the true level of forethought and intention behind it, bc I know early concept illustrations had wind and water ninja, but Wind and Water being these primordial elements even the FSM couldn't directly control is a fun idea and while it was. Super Belated in being utilized and delivered to the audience, I enjoy it as a way to explain why The Core Four Elements of the show included Frozen Water and Unstable Air Pressure Output, but not Water or Air/Wind. They were the closest FSM could get, lmao
44 - Making the Master of the Water Shuriken in Avatar Legends
Tumblr media
In this episode, we take a look at the RPG/Lore Bible based on the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: Legend of Korra. You will be happy to hear that our cat is completely lore-compliant, considering a Literal Cat did exist in the show at one point. I mean, if you ignore the fact that it can water-bend. Otherwise, perfectly lore-compliant!
“Do you ever wonder if there’s a version of our lives where things are different?”
The question floats on the space between them and lands squarely upon Zuko’s chest. Sinking through the skin and settling like a brand over his heart — right next to the first question Aang had asked which alluded to the idea that they could have more.
The open window he’d entered from feels less like an entrance and more like a beckoning into a trap.
He can’t tell if it’s a question Aang actually wants an answer to, but he’s also never spoken to Aang whilst the mask sits over his face anyway.
Aang carries on without batting an eye, “If maybe, in a different life we didn’t just meet this way?”
Zuko almost croaks out an answer just to appease the genuine curiosity in those grey eyes of his. But he doesn’t, simply breathes quietly against the material resting over his face, their last sliver of delusion that what happens between them doesn’t. That Zuko isn’t who he is and that Aang is none the wiser.
But they both know.
Normally, this is the part where Zuko convinces Aang to close his eyes through hand movements or tying silk over his eyes so he can remove his mask and properly kiss Aang like they’re lovers instead of ghosts seeking connection in the only person who understands them.
Aang does close his eyes, mouth parted around further questions that he doesn’t voice like he’s expecting to be interrupted if he tries, and why shouldn’t he expect that? They aren’t supposed to talk. They close their eyes and hide from the reality of how much they crave the other’s touch, acting only during the shade of night so what happens might feel more akin to a dream when the morning returns.
Zuko doesn’t move forward to press Aang against the wall or on top of the bed, instead he murmurs a question of his own, “Do you ever regret sending me away back then?”
Aang’s breath audibly hitches, “I—“
“—I don’t.”
Aang’s brow pinches, at being interrupted or the statement itself Zuko isn’t sure but he presses on anyway, “I don’t because it wouldn’t change anything to.” He tries to carry finality in his tone but it sounds more like a plead to his own ears. Like he’s begging Aang not to make him think about this. About what they could’ve had should Aang have accepted him back then.
He watches Aang’s face contort around a series of emotions before finally landing on resignation and Zuko tries not to wince at how sad it makes him look, “Forget it just— come here.”
The mask gets set aside as Zuko moves into Aang’s space. The heat of his skin inviting Zuko to finally touch. They’ve been separated for months and usually Zuko goes wherever Aang does. But this last trip was to the Southern Water Tribe and Zuko doesn’t risk going there. It’s too small to simply blend in with the crowd.
Aang’s lips part on contact and Zuko has the brief thought that he could spend forever in the moment when their breaths mingle and want for nothing more in life than the feeling of completion this brings him.
@zukaangweek, Day 1: Blue Spirit/Surrender
Soooo for some context —
Zuko got rejected by the gaang and left as was asked but he still helped in his own way by sending Aang letters, never mentioning who it’s from tho Aang figured it out pretty quickly. Fic is set after they’ve built a dynamic on fake anonymity and Aang wants more but doesn’t know how to get it.
I had wanted this to be a complete fic for the week but ultimately decided if I forced it, I ultimately wouldn’t like what I came out with. Kinda like what I did with my jetaang fic…SO HERE HAVE THE OPENING SCENE ✨
Is it good to be the King?
Among the FNDM, there seems to be this general consensus that the King of Vale during the Great War was another of Oz’s lives, mostly due to the coloration of said king during the World of Remnant segment on the War, as well as Oz’s claims to having created the Academies.
And while I cannot necessarily dispute these opinions, lately I have been of a different mind. Looking at Oz’s actions throughout the series, such as...
Atlas, of all nations that bears a Relic, is allowed consistent benefit from the Staff. This is explicitly a decision Oz made.
During the Great War, Mantle (The former capital of Atlas) made a point of outlawing artistic expression and enforcing repression, which in turn gave rise to the color-name rule. As stated by the CRWBY, Ozpin’s name does not follow the rule.
This is mostly symbolic, but a lot of what Ironwood does is seen by fans as an attempt to imitate Oz’s own policies and methods, with the failings a lot more evident than they were with Oz. And during the Beacon Saga, Ozpin’s only complaint about Ironwood’s militant methods was that he was drawing too much attention to it.
From this, I wonder, was Oz the King of Vale...or Atlas?
