ngl i feel like a lot of the 'online left'™ is less focused on actually fighting for socialism, and more focused on adopting the radical aesthetic without engaging in any real world activities that would further leftist causes.

like, prices of everyday goods are at an all time high, we are on the brink of ecological collapse, fascism is on the rise across the globe, and marginalised people are being stripped of their rights every single day.

and yet, while a lot of people are actually getting out there and taking direct action, organising, etc., some of us are too busy just ranting about how the world's going to shit, or arguing amongst ourselves on twitter, or just reading theory without applying said theory to the real world.

don't get me wrong, social media is an important vehicle for the spread of leftist ideas, theory is absolutely vital for understanding how the current systems operate, and our anger is completely justified. but none of these things can change anything without mass movements across the globe taking direct, revolutionary action.

basically, theory is nothing without praxis, and vice versa.

anyways, unhinged rant over lmao.

Is it just me or do a lot of anarchists (and other non-authoritarian leftists) feel isolated from most of the rest of the modern left? Like the DSA, SRA, even the IWW. The DSA, though doing a lot of good work, have done a lot of questionable things, like claiming Venezuela is democratic, which makes me question the 'democratic' part of the Democratic Socialists of America. If you look into the SRA (socialist rifle association, for the unaware) subreddit, it feels like it's mostly Soviet Fetishization. Even the IWW, an organization originally founded as an anarcho-syndicalist grassroots union, I've seen in the modern day it seems filled with Tanks and Red Fash's. Is it just me that feels this way?

seeing a lot of discourse within the british media about these strikes, most notably the fact that several pundits and politicians are claiming that raising wages will "increase inflation".

to be completely blunt, this claim is absolute bullshit. wages haven't kept up with inflation since the 2007 financial crisis, and yet corporations (e.g. private rail companies) have reported record profits. so how the fuck is it acceptable for corporations to enjoy massive profits, but when workers demand pay rises to be able to afford to live, its somehow wrong?

and yes, i know strikes are disruptive, but that's kind of the fucking point. direct action, whether industrial or social only works when disruptive.

so yeah, support the strikes, support workers, and fuck the companies who refuse to pay them properly.
