Progress, not Perfection These meme made me laugh out loud because of how well I once knew this script. We are always striving to be better versions of ourselves, whether it's in our personal relationships or our professional lives. I've been working on being more present and reliable for the people in my life. I struggled with committing to plans or showing up when I said I would. But over time, I've been able to improve in this area. I make a conscious effort to prioritize my commitments and follow through on them. And while I still have moments where I may flake out or need to cancel last minute, I choose to focus on the fact that I'm making progress. It's easy to get caught up in our own shortcomings and beat ourselves up over them. But I've learned that it's essential to give ourselves grace and acknowledge the strides we've made. It's okay to make mistakes and have setbacks as long as we are actively working toward improvement. It's crucial to surround ourselves with people who understand our struggles and support us on our journey. I'm fortunate to have friends and family who are understanding when I need to take a step back or prioritize my well-being. They don't expect me to push myself beyond my limits to fulfill social obligations. Having this support system has been instrumental in my growth and has made me feel more comfortable in my skin. I believe that acknowledging our progress and surrounding ourselves with supportive individuals are key components in becoming the best versions of ourselves. It's not always easy, but every step we take toward improvement is a victory. So let's continue to strive towards progress, not perfection, and be proud of the growth we've achieved so far. #VulnerabilityIsMySuperpower #ClassOfOneDayAtATime #UTSC #UofT #MyLifeShouldBeAMovie #LivingMyHashtags #BestFeelingEver #RecoveryIsFreedom #IAmSober #WarriorMadeMeDoIt #Gratitude #TrustTheProcess #SomebodysMotivation #CallToAction #IAmSoberAppAmbassador #TheAnyaShow #CommunicateAndBuild #CPTSDWarrior #BeYourOwnMeme #AncestorsDream #HealingIsTheNewBlack #CannabisAdvocate #BlackGirlMagic #BlackGirlInTherapy #Naturalista #Blogger #DogLover #Mother (at Vancouver, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpBMlJiylxs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Ancient Egypt Rant
The ancient Egyptians were not white people! Modern day Egyptians no longer have dominate Afro features because Northern Africa has been conquered by Arabs many times, and so modern day Egyptians have a lot of Arab DNA. ALL of Africa started out with brown and black skinned peoples! There is a reason why hieroglyphics depict brown/black skinned people with braided/dreaded hairstyles! White people are not native to any part of Africa!

The only resurrection we are interesting in is speaking the names of our Arawak and Carib ancestors. We must continue to build our knowledge and know the people who honored the land. Without the land, the animals, the fish, all beings on this earth Humans are nothing. We breathe because trees exhale. We must remember that we are part of a vaster, greater, interconnected ecosystem. #praiseourancestors #ancestralhealing #ancestorwisdom #ancestorsspeak #ancestorsdream #freethinker #carib #arawak #caribbean #antilles #taino #indigenous #indigenouspeople #dismantlewhitesupremacy #culturalheritage #culturaldiversity #dominicanslovehaitians video by: yofoot (youtube.com) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwh2k4ylnZh/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1owpktlqxvmzo

9.19.19 6:19am . How I'm walking into the hospital for #transfusionday in a few hrs 💃😏 Not really (Doubled over in pain at the moment...The show/life must go on!), but this does make me smile. . #GrandRising! . Reposted from @spiritualblackgirls (@get_regrann) - ☁✨ Style has a profound meaning to Black Americans. If we can’t drive, we will invent walks and the world will envy the dexterity of our feet. If we can’t have ham, we will boil chitterlings; if we are given rotten peaches, we will make cobblers; if given scraps, we will make quilts; take away our drums, and we will clap our hands. We prove the human spirit will prevail. We will take what we have to make what we need. We need confidence in our knowledge of who we are. 🕯 #NikkiGiovanni ✨☁ 📷 REPOSTING because someone commented credits for us on the previous upload! @Regran_ed from @spiritualblackgirls - ✨🕯🙏🏾 All of our Gods, Ancestors, and Spirit Guides are multifaceted and I appreciate that. I will be real I love the fact that we dont have this one all evil asshole running around fucking shit up so we will all burn. Now if only we can convince our Christian families that we dont have a concept of the devil so therefore could never worship him by switching to an ATR 🤷🏾🕯✨ 📷 @ancestral_voices #🌹🌿 #africantraditionalreligion #hoodoo #rootwork #conjure #ritual #santeria #brujeria #bruja #blackgirlmagic #folkmagic #juju #priestess #brujasofinstagram #blitch #brujabae #witchbae #ancestorveneration #ancestorsdream #wildwoman #divinefeminine #medicinewoman #egun - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/BrpvN83FTkLigQauNwnNtbzC5A2LYdEtWWqRc00/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=828uz3dmfthe

I love US for real but we need to talk 💬 This is a CALL TO ACTION!! As Black people, we have made significant contributions to society, GLOBALLY, from art and music to politics and business. Today, we stand on the shoulders of our ancestors, who fought for our freedom and paved the way for us to achieve our dreams. We have a responsibility to not only honour their legacy but also to surpass their wildest dreams. One way we can do this is by pursuing our passions and excelling in our chosen fields. Whether it's in the arts, sciences, technology, business, or politics, we have the power to positively impact society and shape the future for generations to come. Another way we can live up to our ancestors' wildest dreams is by advocating for justice and equality. We must continue to speak out against racism, discrimination, and social injustice and work to create a more equitable society by challenging systemic barriers and advocating for policies that promote diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all. We must also honour our ancestors' legacy by preserving our culture and heritage celebrating our traditions, languages, and history and passing them on to future generations. Finally, we can live up to our ancestors' wildest dreams by being proud of who we are and embracing our identity. We should never feel the need to assimilate or conform to societal norms. Instead, we should celebrate our unique qualities and differences and use them to our advantage. By doing so, we can surpass our ancestors' wildest dreams and create a better future for ourselves and for generations to come. #SharingIsCaring #KnowledgeIsPower #BlackHistory365 #WeAllWeGot #ModernDayGriot #StayEnlightened #VulnerabilityIsMySuperpower #ClassOfOneDayAtATime #UTSC #UofT #RecoveryIsFreedom #IAmSober #WarriorMadeMeDoIt #Gratitude #TrustTheProcess #SomebodysMotivation #CallToAction #TheAnyaShow #CommunicateAndBuild #CPTSDWarrior #BeYourOwnMeme #AncestorsDream #HealingIsTheNewBlack #CannabisAdvocate #BlackGirlMagic #BlackGirlInTherapy #Naturalista #Blogger #DogLover #Mother (at Vancouver, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co7otTypeCi/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“Ancient Egyptians had more in common genetically to people from today’s Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan and Iraq.” (Observer.com)
“Ancient Southern Egypt might be a different matter, however, where populations lived closer to Nubia, home of the "Black Pharaohs" in what is now Sudan.”
"A lot of people has assumed foreign invaders ... brought a lot of genetic ancestry into the region," Krause said. "People expected that through time, Egypt would become more European, but we see the exact opposite."
“Modern Egyptians were found to "inherit 8% more ancestry from African ancestors" than the mummies studied. The paper cites increased mobility along the Nile, increased long-distance commerce and the era of the trans-Saharan slave trade as potential reasons why.“

For the white man to ask the black man if he hates him is just like the rapist asking the raped, or the wolf asking the sheep, 'Do you hate me?' The white man is in no moral position to accuse anyone else of hate.

Happy birthday, Maya Angelou
“Still I Rise” by Dr. Maya Angelou
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies, You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines Diggin' in my own back yard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I'll rise.
Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
