Peristylium, Vila San Marco - Part One, with fresco details.
Most of these fresco scenes are painted recreations of the real thing, which have been removed. They are by their nature slightly blurry - for once this is not a result of my camera having a meltdown (it was rather overworked at this point, lol)
I can’t post these shots without mentioning that I had one of the most amazing experiences here during my time in Italy. By chance, we were there in the middle of a thunderstorm, and I don’t know - to me, there’s something otherworldly, somehow timeless, about being in an ancient space with thunder rolling above. How many times had the ancients stood there, and done likewise? The feeling of brushing really close to the past is really something else.

Fauces with beautiful 1st style fresco, mosaic, decorative faux columns and remains of the decorated ceiling.
Herculaneum.
Excuse my sneezing model! Apparently I was very remiss, and didn’t take another shot which shows the mosaic :)
