This isn't how you expected tonight to go.
Here you were, in the bathroom locked away from the fun downsatairs, away from your own birthday party. You just couldn't handle it anymore.
You couldn't handle your feelings for him anymore. You hated being friends when deep down you know you knew what you wanted and the possibility of him turning you down, rejecting you just thinking about it made you an anxious mess.
You couldn't keep this up anymore. You wanted more.
The knocking on the bathroom door made you snap back into reality, and you already knew who it was without them even talking.
You just knew it was Mason.
The person who'd you been trying to avoid for the rest of the night.
'Last I checked, the afterparty hasn't been moved to the bathroom.'
'I'll just be a minute!' You say, trying to sound normal enough.
'What's wrong?' Apparently not.
'What do you mean? I'm just freshening up a bit.'
'What's bothering you?'
'i don't know what you mean,' you try to laugh it off , but the pressure in your chest becomes a little too tight and it comes out as a more gasping noise than a light chuckle. You clear your throat. 'i told you, I'll be out in a minute. It's getting late, everybody else has probably gone, you can go too. I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?'
Mason just ignores what you said. 'You would've at least made five sarcastic comments in the last two minutes if everything was fine. You forget how i can read you like a book.' He pauses. 'And you certainly wouldn't be hiding away from your own birthday party for most of the night. Especially when you always refuse to let me leave without helping you clean up.'
Shit
'Mase, i told you, I'm -'
'Cut the bullshit, Y/N.' He told you sternly, before continuing, 'I watched you blow out the candles. I saw that look you made after you made your wish, and you looked up at me for a split second. And that look you had on your face, as if you were going to start crying right there and then. You masked it quickly, but I saw it. Iâm not going to stand here and pretend I didnât see it.â
âI donât know what youâre-â
âYes you do,â he interjects. âBecause right about an hour ago Iâm handing you a drink and the next thing I know, I see your face crumple like that again. And-â he takes a deep breath before continuing. âAnd it fucking broke my heart.â
You stood there, stunned.
âSo, are you going to tell me what I did wrong?â He asks.
âYou didnât do-â
âBecause youâre my best friend,â he reminds you. âAnd I feel like I have a right to know what I did that made you make that face.â
Thereâs a beat of silence, and he says, in a lower tone than before. âBecause I would do anything to make sure I never see it again. It breaks my heart seeing you like that.â
Stood still, your gaze is fixed at the door speed the two of you.
âY/N.â He calls out, sounding more desperate than you ever thought him capable of being.
And that does it. The tears youâve been desperately holding back through every conversation with him you had, not only tonight, but since the day you realised that you were in love with him. Youâve reached the point where there was no return, and the person you want to run to the most is also the one you couldnât possible bare to see you in this state.
The stretch of silence following your name from his lips feels endless. You feel like youâve been standing in front of the door, with your face painfully scrunched in a vain attempt to stop the tears from falling, for an eternity. That is until itâs broken by your shuddering gasp for air.
âY/N.â He says again. Only this time his voice has shifted, even thought the distance hasnât changed, you can feel his voice everywhere now. It has penetrated the walls and filled every corner of the room. You realise this is the first time heâs seen you cry.
Well, no. He still canât see you.
He can only hear you, which means thereâs still time to fix things going from bad to worse.
âCâmon princess, donât cry sweetheart,â he beckons. âPlease. Just come out and weâll fix whateverâs happening. I swear.â
Those nicknames, which he sometimes throws around fondly and always makes your chest tighten in joy every time you hear them. It feels worse now. It feels torturous and cruel to hear him casually call you things you wished he truly meant.
And that only makes you cry harder.
Oh how you wish things were different, and how you wished you were destined to be with him.
âI-Iâm begging you,â his voice sounds strained, and you feel guilty for putting him in such an uncomfortable situation.
âIâm fine,â you manage. âIâm sorry. Iâll be okay in a sec.â
âBut you never cry,â he says. Which was true, you never let him saw you raw emotions. You wanted him to think that you were fine and that you could handle it, until you couldnât anymore.
âIâm sorry,â you whisper.
âStop apologising,â he says firmly. âNow, can you please come out?â
âI canât.â
âAnd whyâs that?â
âBecause,â you squeeze your eyes shut as more tears spill over. âYou canât see me like this. I donât want it to change our friendship.â
âWell what if I want it to?â He counters.
âWhat?!!â
âWhat if I want it to affect our friendship?â He sighs. âWhat if I want you to think you can come to me when youâre upset? Do you really think Iâd push you away when youâre like this?â
You canât get any words out. All you can do is let out a pathetic sob at the kindness of his words.
At my crying he stammers, âIâm sorry, did I say something wrong? I just meant-â
âNo!!â
âNo?â He questions.
âNo,â you canât help but smile a little.
âWell, look, Iâm not going to force you to come out,â he says. âIf you truly want to be alone, I get that, and Iâll leave and you can come out whenever youâre ready.â
Good.
I think I can work with that - you thought.
âBut if the only reason youâre not coming out is because youâre afraid of how Iâm going to react, then Iâm the one who fucked up for making you think that you always need to be in a good mood around me,â his voice softens. âIâll leave you alone if you want, but please donât try to push me away.â
Damn.
You almost left out a huff of laughter, because you know that no matter what you promised yourself, he always weakens your resolve. And itâs at this moment where you realise just how exhausted you are - how nearly two years of suppressing your feelings have been slowly eating away at you. And the weight of your misery becomes unbearable, and all you want is to leave the terrible ache in your chest behind.
More tears come running down your cheek, that you couldnât seem to stop. You donât bother wiping them away as you stare at yourself into the mirror. You see the hollowness of your eyes, the way you look pale in the dim bathroom light, and you know you can hardly handle the weight of your secret for much longer. Giving yourself an almost nod of understanding before reaching the door handle, unlocking the door and throwing common sense out of the window.
âPrincess?â He asks. Your chest tightens at the sound of that stupid nickname again. It started off as a joke, Mason teasing you after you shared your love of fantasy books and fairy tales with him. And it stuck around, quickly becoming Masonâs favourite way to make you flustered while you always shoot him with an annoyed glare. You always told him you hated it, but after a while you began to carry it with a sense of pride. As much as it pained you to know he was only joking, it always made your heart contract in a way he was only capable of causing.
âPromise me one thing?â Your voice is unsteady from all the crying youâve been doing.
âAnything.â
âShut your eyes, will you?â
âWhyâs that?â
âNot to brag or anything but Iâm certain Iâm one of the most ugliest criers out there. And Iâm not sure if I can stand you see me like that,â you do your best to joke. âJust for now, at least.â
âYou donât realise how silly you sound, do you? But if thatâs what makes you come out, then yeah sure.â He says.
And with that, you pull the door handle down so you can open the door.
Masonâs perched at the very end of your bed, his hands resting on his lap. Heâs facing you, and youâre relieved to see that his dud are still shut, as promised. You stand there for what feels like an endless amount of time, too stunned to move. But slowly, his hands move from his lap and palms his face up, beckoning you over.
Itâs all the cue you need, and you step forward, placing your hands on his forearms, your grip is still shaky. Whilst his eyes are still closed, he engulfs you into a hug. You have hugged Mason plenty of times, more than you can count, but never with you crying into his arms. One hand rubs your back while the other gently caresses your hair, but the tenderness and kindness heâs showing only makes you cry harder.
âCan I open my eyes?â He murmurs. All you can manage is a quick nod against his chest. He tries to pull back from the hug so he can face you, but you figure that he cant see your tear stained face if itâs buried in his hoodie, so you remain firmly planted in the hug.
A few moments pass like this, both pressed impossibly close to each other and you can feel your heart rate begin to calm as your tears slowly subside. The exhaustion has saturated your body as you feel as though you can fall asleep on his chest before you heard him speak.
âYouâll tell me what I did wrong, wonât you?â
âI want to, but I canât,â you tell him.
âWhy?â He doesnât sound annoyed, his voice has a playful tone to it with a twinge of worry.
âBecause-â you whisper. âBecause youâll hate me.â
âImpossible,â he says. âYouâre one of my best friends, I donât think I could hate you even if I wanted to.â
âAs much as I want to tell you why I gave you that look tonight,â your voice is slightly muffled with your face buried in his hoodie. âI know it will ruin our friendship and I donât think I can bare losing you.â
âYouâre not making any sense. I thought I was the one who upset you,â he manages to pull away, untangling my arms from around his neck. He slowly rises from his perch, towering above me as he rests his hand on my shoulders. You canât look at him though, so you lock your gaze onto the floor. âSeriously, Y/N, you know I wonât force you to do anything you donât want to, but youâre starting to scare me.â His confession makes your heart ache impossibly.
He brings his hand underneath your chin and slowly guides your face up to meet his. A few more tears escape your swollen eyelids, and he gently brushes them away. âI want to tell you,â you avert your gaze, not being able to stand the intensity of his eyes on yours. âBut I know how itâll end. And I know youâll resent me for it.â
âPlease donât say that,â he tries to meet your eyes. âThereâs nothing that you could say to me right now that would make me even think about hating you, okay?â
âBut there is!â You grip on to his forearms, relishing your closeness one last time. You know youâre going to be selfish youâve ever been and ruin the most important thing in your life just to give yourself a moment of peace. âAnd I thought I was fine keeping it to myself, but I just canât go on like this anymore.â
You stagger backwards, as you see the panicked look on his face. âI canât eat or sleep,â your fingers begin to nervously tangle themselves into your hair. âAnd I know you donât deserve this, but I can feel myself going crazy and I know that I canât keep this up.â
He slowly moves closer to you, his brow knotted in concern. âKeep what up?â
âI canât keep pretending that Iâm not in love with you.â
There it is.
Thereâs no going back now.
He starts to say your name, but you cut him off quickly. âNo, just let me finish,â you bury your face in your hands, knowing damn well that you cannot possibly handle his reaction. You try your best to steady your breathing. âBecause if I donât do this now, itâll just continue to eat away at me until I wonât even recognise myself.â
You take his silence as a cue to keep going. You remove your hands from your eyes but focus your attention on the floor. You eyes catch on a potted plant in the corner of the room by three window, and you keep your gaze focused on it as you utter your confession.
âI thought it was just a little crush,â your voice isnât much louder than a whisper. âWhen we met a couple years ago. And then it was like one day I blinked and you and I had become best friends. I couldnât remember a time when I was so happy.â
Youâre crying now. You take another moment to gather your strength, and carry on, refusing to look up at him.
âI thought us being friends would be enough, and for a while it was. I was fine loving you platonically, because I figured having you in my life as a friend would be better than not having you in my life at all. But my feelings never went away, they just continued to grow stronger and stronger and-â you try to discreetly wipe your eyes. Your tears blurred your vision almost completely. âI knew you would never love me like I love you, because guys like you donât date girls like me. The date models or influencers. The type of girl you brag to your friends about.â
âI feel terrible because Iâve lied to you our entire friendship. I feel like this secret has just been festering inside of me and honestly Iâve been so miserable when I wake up everyday thinking this is it, this is the day youâll find someone else and Iâll truly be nothing to you. But no matter how badly I try to protect myself from getting hurt in the end, I just canât stay away from you.â You let out a weak laugh.
Youâre rambling now, you can feel it. You find it impossible to stop until he speaks. âWhat if I feel the same?â
You jerk your chin up to meet his eyes. Heâs standing closer now, and you have to tilt your head back to maintain eye contact.
Your stubbornness got in the way. âNo you donât. You could never love me.â
It feels like time stops when he says, âwho said that?â
You shake your head, and viciously swipe your hands under your eyes. âNo, Mase. Donât say things you donât mean. I know we joke around a lot but I would never fuck around with your feelings like that.â You can feel panic rising in your chest.
âIâm-â Mason tries to go on to say until you interrupt.
âYou donât have to let me down gently.â
âPlease give me a chance to speak, will you?â He grips your shoulders gently, placing his face close to yours. And then he goes on to saying something you wouldâve never expected. âCould you just pump the breaks for a second so I can tell you that Iâm in love with you too?â
You stood stunned for a while before you managed to come out with âwhat?â
âYou do realise that Iâve been crazy about you for years now, right? I just didnât know where you stood so I never had the guts to ask you out,â He lets out a breathy laugh and runs his hands through his hair. âOh god if I had known that you liked me back even a little I wouldâve said something! IâI just thought you never saw me like that,â He trails off. He stops and turns to me suddenly. âPrincess, I am so sorry. All this time you felt like you couldnât be yourself around me, like you couldnât just tell me how you felt.â
Youâre still staring at him, dumbfounded. Youâve realized that you still havenât stopped crying, much to your absolute humiliation. If what heâs saying is true, you think, then why on godâs green earth canât you calm down? But at this point the panicked sobbing has taken a new shape, now strangely mixed with exhaustion, giddiness, and confusion. You attempt a smile, but you imagine it looks very off-putting, considering your emotional state.
His hand on your arm breaks you out of your thoughts. âSorry,â I furtively wipe your eyes. âI donât know whatâs wrong with me â I mean, I should be jumping up and down with joy, but,â you release another shuddering breath. âI canât seem to calm down.â
The look he gives you is one youâve seen many times before, though you never knew how to describe it. Calling it a look of kindness or interest didnât seem like it was enough to describe the depth of his stare, and it felt too far to call it a look of worry. Only now after these past few minutes have you understood what his gaze is implying. It was more than affection, it felt like love.
âHey,â he murmurs. âItâs okay, youâve been through quite a bit just now, baby.â
I laugh a little at that. âThatâs a good way to sum it up.â
He smiles again, and your stomach does more than just flip, it somersaults and launches itself into a dive roll. And then he pulls you into his arms again, and though you canât stop the tears leaving your eyes, you feel like you can at least control your breathing a bit more.
âNow I know you have a tendency to overthink,â he says after a moment or two. âBut there canât be any of that right now, alright? Donât think about tomorrow or this new thing between us, alright?â
You pause, but relent with a small nod.
He continues. âI care about you like I always have, and my priority right now is to make sure youâre okay.â His hand rubs reassuring circles on your back as he speaks. âItâs late now, and you must be exhausted after everything tonight.â
You let out a small hum of agreement. Now that he mentions it, you feel absolutely wiped out, and a dull pain has begun to take roots in your temples. Mason gently moves back, pushing a lock of hair behind your ear and taking in the sight of you in front of him. For what felt like the millionth time, you feel yourself becoming self-conscious. You know how red and swollen your face becomes after youâve cried, and youâre willing to bet that the mascara running down your cheeks gives your features an added air of insanity.
âHow about you let me deal with some of the mess in the living room, while you wash your face and wind down a bit?â he suggests.
âYeah,â your breath still comes out a little shaky as you restate his commands. âNo overthinking.â
He nods, satisfied with your answer. âAnd when I come back tomorrow, weâll talk, and then you can let that brain of yours ask a hundred and one questions as it always does. But not until then,â he finished with a smile.
You can feel your heart start to drop at his words
âYouâre not staying?â
The words are out before you can stop yourself. You know he doesnât want you thinking about this new thing between us right now, but he has no idea how much overthinking youâll do if he walks out that door. You know if he leaves, youâll barely get a wink of sleep all night, wondering if our heated exchange was nothing more than a champagne-induced dream.
Mason looks at me with a smile. âOf course I can stay.â
âAre you saying that because I asked, or because you actually want to?â You shoot him an incredulous look
âLet me tell you something, princess,â he stares deeply into your eyes, refusing to let your gaze slip from his. âIâve never, never left your side willingly.â
His words cause your breath to hitch and for your heart to constrict almost painfully, but you refrain from grabbing the skin over your chest, from making sure that your heart is, in fact, still beating.
âI wanted you to know that you donât owe me anything right now, and that weâre still â weâre still us,â he says. âI didnât want you to feel weird if I stayed the night, thatâs all.â
You let out a soft breath. âThank you, Mase,â you whisper. âI trust you, you know that I do.â
âGood,â he replies. âThatâs a relief because I honestly didnât feel comfortable leaving my girl alone right now.â
You have to physically hold yourself back from grinning at his words. My girl. The thought of those two words, and all they could possibly imply, made me feel light-headed. All you can do is nod your head in agreement.
He gently brushes some hair behind your shoulders, giving you a soft grin. âSo how about you get ready for bed, and Iâll grab a T-shirt from my car and put away the stuff in the living room. Iâll be back in a few minutes, alright?â
âOkay, I think I can manage washing my face before I pass out,â you say jokingly.
Mason chuckles as he walks out of the room. âThatâs my girl.â

Summary: while on patrol, you and Joel find yourselves caught in a treacherous snowstorm.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I MISSED ANYTHING!
Joel is freezing, shaking like a goddamn leaf. Itâs ironic, given his disposition. You should have tried to retrace your steps back to Jackson hours ago, but the winter was unforgiving, and the two of you have found yourselves in a real pickle; a frozen one.
âI told you that we were going to end up getting lost out here, Joel.â You grumble alongside him with your arms crossed over your chest. Your teeth are chattering, and itâs grinding his gears.
âWe ainât fuckinâ lost, sweetheart.â He gruffs back and adjusts his rifle strap along his shoulder. âI know where Iâm goin.ââ
You scoff at this because if he did know where he was going, you wouldnât be fucking lost in a fucking blizzard right now!
âRight. Iâm sure you do know where youâre going, Joel.â You mutter sarcastically under your breath.
He whips around to face you, cheeks speckled in red from the cold and even in the lowlight, you can see individual snowflakes sticking to his lashes.
âAlright, miss âI know everything.â Which way do you think we should go?â He awaits your answer with a cocked brow and his lips pursed together. Theyâre severely cracked and on the verge of bleeding from the bitter cold.
âNot the direction weâre currently headed, thatâs for damn sure! Letâs just fucking turn around and retrace our steps.â You bite back and watch the way that his jaw ticks from your tone. God, youâre a real thorn in this manâs side.
âRetrace our steps?â He laughs, shaking his head to the side and sucks in a harsh cold breath of air into his lungs. âThe snow has covered up our tracks, you idiot.â Heâs so fucking condescending, and youâve just about had enough with his shit attitude for one day. Your blood is positively boiling under your thick layer of clothes, and youâd much rather succumb to Mother Nature and her wrath than spend another minute with this insufferable, annoying, mean, and painfully handsome man.
âFuck you, Joel. Iâm retracing my steps whether you have a say in it or not!â You snap and turn on your heel before you feel a rough, gloved-clad hand grasp your upper arm and yank you back towards a hard and very solid presence at your back.
âQuit your fuckinâ yappin!ââ He barks against the shell of your ear. His voice is rasped, crackling like a roaring fire. âYou ainât goinâ anywhere without me, you got that?!â His grip around your arm only tightens when you tried to shove him away, but heâs built like a fucking steel fridge, and youâre no match for him.
âThen stop being a fucking asshole, Joel! Iâd rather freeze to death out here than spend another minute with you!â
You mean every word. Well, you think that you do.
He sneers at your attempt to wound him with your words, as if a man with a heart made out of pure concrete can possibly be affected by the means of your figurative little daggers. They ricochet off his body and fall to the snow, disappearing under a sheet of white. âI wouldnât have to be an asshole if you would just fuckinâ listen for once in your life! God, when we get back, and we will, Iâm tellinâ Tommy that I ainât ever goinâ on patrol with your ass again.â
His steel-like grip loosens when you donât immediately bite back like he expects you too. He wants you to fight back, to call him names and send his own blood boiling because at least then he feels alive.
âFine. Weâll do it your way.â You nearly whisper and bite down on the inside of your cheek, tasting harsh copper on your tongue.
âFine.â He agrees and finally releases your arm. âWeâre gonna wait out this damn storm for the night, and then tomorrow weâll retrace our steps home. Who knows, sweetheart. Tommy might have already sent out a search party for us.â
âLetâs fucking hope thatâs the case. The sooner this storm lets up, the better.â You think youâre going to cry, but you push your tears down as far as you possibly can. You have to conserve your energy, after all. Besides, Joel Miller isnât worth your precious tears. Not even close.
He begins to survey the surrounding area. The woods offered some reliable cover with the thick evergreens acting as a shield from the treacherous wind. The snow is still falling in large flakes, but he might be able to get a fire going if heâs lucky.
âWe should..probably yâknow, share a sleepinâ bag for extra heat.â He rubbed the back of his neck nervously, feeling kinda silly in the moment because what did he have to be nervous for? His reasoning for sharing warmth was logical. It was just his survival instincts kicking in, right?
You, on the other hand, were unfazed by his request. Sure, it made perfect sense to share body heat with this man. Why the hell did he look so distraught over it - weirdo.
âDid Bear Grylls teach you that, Miller?â You look at him with a smirk playing on your lips. âIf thatâs the case, then we should probably sleep naked.â
That feeling that had laid dormant for so long, was beginning to reawaken and defrost at the thought of your warm, pliant, soft body being tucked up around him in close proximity. You were annoying, sure, and he could hardly tolerate your presence, but he couldnât deny that you were a thing of beauty, and neither could his cock.
âNo. Some reality TV star didnât teach me the survival skills that I know, sweetheart. Iâm jusâ that good.â He sounds cocky, full of himself and perhaps thereâs a bit of eagerness detected in his tone? Maybe the dead giveaway is the way his cheeks flush, and this time it isnât because of the cold.
You shrug and drop your pack and sleeping bag at your boots. âWhatever you say, Joel.â
He clears his throat and drops his hand from where it was resting against the back of his neck. He stares at you for a second longer than he would have liked to, and then announces that heâs going to go find some wood for a fire, and for you to stay put.
You wave him off and unroll your sleeping bag with a huff and begin to mentally question how the hell is this grizzly of a man going to fit inside of your sleeping bag? Oh well! Time to defy all the odds that have been stacked against you.
When Joel returns, he finds you already tucked away under the sleeping bag with your clothes neatly folded on top of your backpack. He managed to find a few fallen tree branches that would make good kindling, and some thicker logs for the base of the fire.
He avoids making direct eye contact with you as he crouches down and constructs a fire that he hopes to god will keep the two of you warm throughout the cold night ahead.
You already have taken notice of his suddenly quiet and almost docile demeanor with just your head visible and peeking out of the sleeping bag
âAre you sure that fire is going to last the night, Joel?â
His shoulders and back immediately tense from your question and you can already picture him clenching his jaw and muttering under his breath.
âAinât no tellinâ if it will last the night, sweetheart.â He stokes at the ember glowing logs with the end of a spare stick before looking over his shoulder at you. âYâcomfy in there?â His voice rasps, dipping down an octave and sounding much, much, lower.
âYep.â You chirp. âNice and cozy in here, Joel. Did I mention itâs very, very warm?â
He snorts under his breath, tearing his gaze away from you and focuses back on the fire. âYeah. I bet it is.â
What you really want to say is: and it would be even warmer if you were here with me. But you refrain, and instead bury your face further into the contained warmth emitting from the sleeping bag.
Joel is hesitating, and that part couldnât be anymore obvious based on his tense stature. Maybe he could just accept losing feeling in his fingers and toes instead of crossing that boundary with you. Or, he could man up and deal with the immediate feelings that would come as soon as his hands would inevitably touch your warm skin.
âJoel?â
Your voice tears him away from his thoughts briefly. âHm?â
âArenât you..cold?â
Freezing. My cock and balls are about to fuckinâ fall off.
âMâfine.â He insists.
âSo goddamn stubborn.â He hears you mutter under your breath followed by the sound of the sleeping bag zipper being pulled down. âGet in here before you freeze to death. Iâm serious, Joel.â
âFuck off. I said mâfine.â He grumbles and turns over his shoulder to look at you once more. His eyes catch a sliver of skin, a nipple peeking out from under the fabric as you were sitting up. His head whips around so fast he swears that his brain just got rattled around in his skull.
âWould you just be a fucking man and take your clothes off and get in here?â
So impatient, he thinks.
âYou jusâ wanna see me naked.â He quips back.
âFor fuck sakes, Joel. I just donât want you to freeze out here. Is that so hard to believe?â
Yes.
âJusâ..donât peek. Alright?â He slowly stands up from his place alongside the fire as he starts to shuck his heavy coat off his shoulders.
âFine. I wonât peek, okay? Scouts honor.â You promise him and bring your hand over your eyes to cover them.
Heâs grumbling to himself the whole time as he begins to undress. He bitches about the cold, his cock, and his nearly frozen toes as you listen quietly to the sound of his belt buckle being undone. He does not fold his clothes neatly like you did and instead they are left in a pile near the fire. He dashes for your sleeping bag, yanking the zipper down in a fury and climbs inside.
Itâs a tight fit indeed with barely any room for him to squeeze in but he makes it work.
âFuck!â His yell is muffled as he struggles to make himself comfortable in what little space he has. âFuckinâ cannot believe I actually listened to you.â He rubs his hands together, blowing hot air between them.
âOh, shut up, you big baby.â You stifle a laugh which earns you a displeased glare. âWe wouldnât be in this mess if you just would haveââ
âDo not start with me, sweetheart. Donât you fuckinâ dare.â His brows furrow and his jaw is clenched so tightly, youâre shocked that it hasnât shattered.
âYouâre all bark and no bite, Joel.â You mutter back and roll over onto your side so your back is facing him. You close your eyes and fully intend to get some much needed and deserved sleep, but the man beside you is squirming and making a big fuss.
âDarlinâ I know you ainât want anythinâ to do with a man like me, but it was your idea for us to get naked under here..so all Iâm askinâ isââ
âJust do whatever it is you need to do, Joel. Can you just be quiet about it? All I want to do right now is sleep, and your fussing about is making that really fucking difficult for me to achieve.â You snap.
âAre you givinâ me permission, sweetheart? Cusâ the last thing I want is for you to bite my damn fingers off if I touch you. So as long as itâs alright with you..â he trails off and you take matters into your own hands by reaching behind you and finding his cold hands and yanking them around your body. You couldnât help but yelp from the stark difference of temperature from your body heat to his hands.
âYouâre fucking freezing, Joel.â You state the obvious and he rolls his eyes.
âYeah, no shit, Sherlock. I didnât exactly have time to warm them up, sweetheart. My apologies that my hands arenât at the right temperature for ya.â You think you hear him snicker under his breath, but maybe itâs just his close proximity that makes you hear things.
âWhatever. Itâs fine.â You reassure him.
His hands are big, huge, and the skin on his palms and fingers are rough. The feeling overall is quite pleasant, and soon enough his hands donât feel like an ice block - quite the opposite actually.
He grunts softly as attempts to make himself comfortable without pressing himself into your back. Itâs proving to be a challenge as it is, and he has this feeling deep in the pit of his stomach, that this challenge is going to get the best of him.
âWhatâs wrong now, Joel?â You try to ignore the way his thumbs are gently stroking the space between the curve of your breasts and under your rib cage, and how his touch on your skin is beginning to light a fire in your belly, and between your thighs. His touch is gentle and itâs making your head spin with need and desire.
âI jusââI donât wanna make yâfeel uncomfortable sâall.â He admits, voice rasping deeply. âIâm fuckinâ freezinâ, darlinâ but I donât wannaââ
âJust shut up and stick your dick in me, Joel. Youâll be warmer then.â You surprise both yourself and him.
His meaty palms squeeze you gently, fingertips kneading the flesh as he inhales a shaky, yet audible breath. The tight confines of your shared sleeping bag suddenly feel ten times tighter, and hotter. Itâs suffocating in a delicious sense that you and Joel are stuck here together in this rather..unfortunate situation. You hate him, and he hates you, yet the thought of his thick cock nestling between your thighs sounds like absolute heaven on a plate right now.
Joel thinks heâs on the verge of passing out from your vulgar statement. Itâs been god knows how long since heâs felt the warmth of a womanâs body around his cock. Itâs been too goddamn long, he thinks.
â..well, if youâre askin.ââ He whispers as his hands maneuver your body to press back against him. One strong arm anchors itself around your waist, engaging you in a warm hold when you feel his hard, broad chest pressing against your back. You havenât even seen his cock, yet you already can tell that heâs big. The word big might not even be able to describe the massive size that is Joel Miller.
âThis doesnât mean anything. Right, Joel?â You ask through the thick growing tension that coils itself around you and the burly man beside you like a snake.
âDoesnât mean nothinâ at all, sweetheart. Jusâ sharinâ body heat for survival, like you said.â He rasps and blows a hot puff of air against the back of your neck as his strong thighs wrap around your own. Even this manâs feet are fucking huge in every sense.
Yâknow what they say about big feet? An even biggerâheart. I was going to say heart.
âOkay.â You squeak out as you relax further into his hold around you.
âCan you jusâ let me know if youâre uncomfortable at any point? Cusâ if thatâs the case, Iâll slip right out. No questions asked, sweetheart.â
You couldnât help but giggle at his apparent nervousness. It was sweet, in a Joel-like fashion. Hell must have frozen over right then and there because the Joel you had grown so accustomed to, was anything but sweet.
âWow. You sure know how to romance a lady up, Miller. Did Tommy teach you how to do that?â You couldnât help but wiggle your ass back against him. The thought of reaching down between your thighs and touching yourself crossed your mind, but you refrained.
He laughed, and it sent a wave of arousal gushing like a river because his laugh was beautiful. It was music to your fucking ears.
âShut the fuck up.â His teeth grazed at the spot where your neck meets your jaw. He bit down, drawing blood to the surface of his indentation in your skin. âI taught Tommy everythinâ he needs to know on romancinâ a woman. Donât get it twisted, sweetheart.â
âSure, sure. Whatever you say, big boy.â You nearly purred. Your back arched towards him, a suppressed moan desperate to be set free when his teeth marked you.
âI think someone is a bit too eager over this whole arrangement that we have found ourselves in.â He comments in a low rasp and his hand drifts down from your hip and nudges your thighs apart with a practiced ease. His heavy cock pressed firmly against your lower back as he let out another praising grunt from between his lips.
âStop playing with me, Joel. I donât want to be played with.â You hiss under your breath when you feel the backside of his knuckles slowly drag through the seam of your cunt.
âYâsure about that, sweetheart? If you donât wanna be played with, then what do you want?â
Frankly, heâs taking too long for your liking and you decided then and there to take matters into your own hands; literally. You reach between your bodies before he even has a chance to protest as you blindly search for his cock. Your warm palm barely fits around the girth of him.
âI want you to take your cock and stretch me open, Joel. Think you can handle that? Best not keep a lady waiting. Itâs awfully rude.â You tsk under your breath.
He growls as his hips buck upwards into your hand like heâs never felt the touch of a womanâs palm before in his life.
âFine. I like a woman that knows exactly what she wants, anyway. Wonât keep ya waitinâ any longer, princess.â
Joel Miller is a man of his word and just when you think heâs bluffing, you feel the thick press of the head of his cock sliding through your slick folds and notching at your entrance.
He groans against your ear, jaw clenching, and teeth grinding because youâre tight and hugging him like a fucking fist.
âJesus fuck. Thatâs a tight cunt if Iâve ever felt one.â He rasps as you slowly pull him in further at the rate that he pushes his hips. Soon, heâs bottomed out with his hips firmly pressed into your ass. His legs stay tangled through yours as his arms come to wrap you up in his hold once more.
âFuck.â You breathe, lashes fluttering as he stretches you open. He fits snuggly, almost as if your pussy was making a home for his cock to stay there awhile, all cozy and warm with you. âSee? Was that so fucking difficult?â
He shakes his head and you swear you can feel him grinning against your skin. âNope. It wasnât difficult at all, sweetheart. In fact, I think Iâll stay here awhile.â Yeah, heâs definitely enjoying this.
You smile at this, burying your face into the solid muscle of his bicep, pressing the lightest kiss there. Maybe you even nibbled on it, and maybe he chuckled and pulled you in even closer.
âStay as long as youâd please, Joel.â You whisper softly.
Come morning the embers from the fire had long since died out, and the storm had since passed. You and Joel were still a bunch of tangled limbs and connected warmth by the time Tommy and the rest of patrol had found you.
Joel had since grown soft with his cock still buried deep within your warmth and his face was buried in your neck with peaceful snores slipping past his plush lips. His eyes barely peeked open when he heard familiar voices muffled, yet nearby. Tommy had just brushed a bit of snow off the top of the sleeping bag and pulled the zipper down when he was met with a sight that he wasnât expecting.
âWell, Iâll be damned.â He chuckled and shot his big brother a cheeky wink.

Pieces of You pt 2
Summary - After losing Feyre to childbirth, Rhysand finds himself leaning on one of her friends much more than he'd ever expected.
Warnings - panic attack, a well-deserved breakdown, negative thoughts, death of partners, sickness
A/N - đ
Series Masterlist
You hadn't gotten used to waking up with Rhysand beside you. The High Lord had shown up the day after visiting Nyx for the first time, pulling a few bags from his pocket world, and moved in. That was 2 weeks agoÂ
He had started in the guest room. Opting to move Nyx's bassinet in there, he slowly realized caring for Nyx was impossible without you. Nyx was not comforted by his scent the way he was yours yet. He enjoyed the warmth of Rhysand's skin, but that skin wasn't the skin that held him so close those first few critical days. Plus, and most importantly, Rhys could not feed him. The one time they tried the mixed powder substance Madja had made for them, Nyx had a look of betrayal gracing his small face before gagging. He cried until you couldn't emotionally take it anymorez glaring at his clueless father as you sat on the floor and fed him. You were too attached to the heir, and him you. He was your son, and you were the closest thing he knew to a mother.
Rhys had accidentally pulled you close to him during the short nap, arm tight around your waist, head buried in your hair. He had fallen into heavy sleep for the first time since welcoming himself in. It was so heavy that he couldn't hear the soft grunts coming from his son. You tried wiggling from his grasp, almost struggling for breath as his grip grew tighter.Â
It shouldn't have affected you the way it was. Being held so tightly was like having a knife stabbed into your chest over and over. It felt like ripping and tearing fine hair from your arm. Sharp, dull, aching, soothing. You finally freed yourself and had to back away to breathe, to forcely remind yourself that wasn't your husband, your mate, holding you. He'd never get to do that again. You'd never feel his arms scarred from years at sea and in port wrapped around your waist. You'd never smell the salt air and sunshine that clung to him like second skin again.Â
You'd never feel that tug again. That warmth spreading through you as he sent his love. Instead, you were empty. You were a shell of a female, walking on borrowed time, on borrowed life.Â
You had always thought you would fade if he was gone. That you would leave this world when he did, dying of a broken heart, yet here you were, living, breathing, mourning.Â
You shook your head, wrapping and clipping your hair before moving to Nyx and gently picking him up. You'd keep going for the babies. You would push for the babies.Â
Feyre told you once the Suriel had asked her to leave the world a better place, and your mate had once told you the world would have been better if everyone loved the way you did. Ensuring Nyx and Morwenna lived, ensuring they were loved, it would fulfill both of those wishes.Â
You could feel everything later. Lose your mind and heart when Rhys took the babies out for the day. You needed to be strong now, though. Be the anchor all three of them needed you to be.
You kissed his forehead softly, going to take him out of the room to eat when the soft scent of the sea hit you.Â
And you didn't know, but Rhys had pulled your pillow closer, welcoming the soft scent of pear that lingered there despite your absence.Â
-
Rhys kneeled before you, stroking your face as tears fell.
Wen was refusing to eat, sleeping heavily, and not herself. He had called for Madja, trying to calm you as you cradled her closely. He wanted to take her, to hold her the way you were. He had grown attached to his Little Mor ao quickly, welcoming her so warmly into his heart that it pained him to see you two like this. He saw Little Mor as his daughter. He loved her the same way he loved Nyx, his little ones.Â
Relief flooded him as Azriel walked Madja in. Old hands coming to linger over the small girl. âYou need to breathe, y/n,â the healer knew the breakdown you were having was about much more than your daughter. It was a matter of time before this happened. âRhys, will you take y/n away while I look over our sweet Morwenna?âÂ
Azriel reached, holding eye contact with you as he took your daughter. Azriel knew a dangerous animal when he saw it. A mother panicking over the health of her baby as a male she had only recently met took said baby was dangerous, deadly even if provoked.Â
He knew what was happening to you as the sobs became uncontrollable. Wrecking through your body as your mind played the worst-case scenario over and over again.Â
The house seemed to creak and groan under the weight of your power flaring, making him grateful Cassian and Elain had taken Nyx for a walk when everyone realized Morwenna may have been sick. And making him wonder how the hell you had gone undetected for so long. He craddled Little Mor close to him, backing away before setting down for Madja to examine.Â
âTake her to another room, Rhysand. I cannot focus with her magic choking everything out.âÂ
Rhys picked you up, carrying you back into your shared bedroom before setting you on the ground. âBreathe,â he whispered softly. His hands were resting on your upper arms, empathy lacing his features as he watched an all too similar moment of weakness.
âIf she dies I don't know what I'll do. She's all I have left.â
âShe will not die-â
âShe's my everything. She's why I get up. Why I'm doing this. She's my world.â
âShe will be fine-â
âI can't lose her. I can't. It'll be too much.â
Rhys watched as your mask cracked. As everything fell apart. He heard your mental shields crumbling as you were. He had this impression you had moved on quickly, that you were not as broken as he was, but he was clearly wrong.Â
You kept going for Little Mor.
You kept going for Nyx.
You stayed for him.Â
You fought the dying of that light inside you, one he had already allowed to extinguish for them. You were selflessly fighting darkness for them.Â
He held your face in his eyes wide and searching as the panic attack began.Â
He did the only thing he knew for moments like this. Something Feyre had done countless times for him when his mind took over, poisoning him and his thoughts.
Rhys crashed his lips onto yours, shocked at how well you two fit, at how you were like that last piece of stained glass being added into a tight spot due to miscalculation and poor design.
Rhys relaxed fully into the kiss, a hand going to your hair as the other stayed on your cheek.
And, as if the Fates were mocking him again, he felt a small kindling inside of him restart.
-
A content Rhys, the curtain gently blowing in the breeze, the texted soft grey wall behind the High lord, his black cotton shirt, your hands on his chest.
The feeling of soft lips pressed in yours, that buttery fabric as you gripped it, his muscles moving in his arms as he pulled you closer, his hands. His warm, gentle hands.
Birds chirping, soft muffled whispers from another room, your heartbeat, or maybe that was Rhysand's .
Citrus and sea salt.
Expensive whiskey.
Your eyes closed, mind completely shut off to anything but the first sign of affection you had in weeks, and you leaned into him, kissing him back until you were both breathless.Â
He pulled away then, watching as your eyes mixed with emotion, looking up at him in shock, in adoration.Â
âFeyre used to kiss me when I would begin to get lost in my thoughts they way you were,â his hands lingered in those positions, thumb stroking your cheek. âIt always helped me shut my brain off.â
You nodded, still leaned into him closely, mind lost to everything but that odd feeling of warmth settling into your chest. âCan-â
âYes,â he answered before you could even ask, and he kissed you again.Â

Hihi I was hoping I could request enemies to lovers Zuko x fem!reader?
The reader is a traitor to the fire nation and can bend fire (also a street peformer before she joined the gaang? đ) đđ
Omg getting a request just made my day I love these!!!
I hope you like it đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶
YOURE STILL A TRAITOR
Id like to say that my life is good, that Iâm happy where I am but Iâm not. Iâm upset and frustrated; but most of all Iâm living on the street, preforming stupid acrobatic tricks just to feed myself. Iâve left everything behind. My family and wealth but most importantly someone I never wanted to live without.
Iâm upside down when I see them; soft flames coming from the soles of my bare feet. Resting on my forearms and twisting and contorting my body.
âYou.â A teenaged girl approaches me and I turn right side up, âyouâre a fire bender arenât you!â She says, âwhatâs your name?â
âUhâ I stare at her and smile nervously, ây/n HuÇâ I repeat slowly, and quietly. People of the fire nation know the traitor Iâve become outside the walls of the fire nation. Meeting the avatar, going against my friends for his life. All because I believed in something greater than all of this.
âI know youâ a boy says, bandana around his forehead, âyour grandpa, YĂșjĂŹn. I know- or knew himâ He says
âOh.â Realization hits my face, âyouâre the avatar!â A short girl slaps me.
âWow way to tell everyone!â She retorts, god are little kids sassy.
âYou could teach Aang firebendingâ Katara says, itâs hard not to know someoneâs name when thereâs wanted posters all over town.
âIâm good at fire bending but Iâm no masterâ I say, âI thought Prince Zuko abandoned the throne to teach youâ I ask
âWell heâs uh.. learning a new way to firebendâ Toph laughs a little and I smile awkwardly.
âI donât bend very traditionallyâ I reply, âbut if it will get me off the streets I guess why notâ I stand up straighter and brush my hair out of my face.
âYou brought that back?!â Zuko shouts, weâve had a long history. One that includes a betrothal, and a knife to the gut. He looks at me with disgust which Iâm not surprised at.
âIâm a girl. Not a thing!â I cry out, âthe only reason Iâm here is because Aang needs a firebending teacher because you suck!â I scoff out at him, thereâs fire burning in his hands but I never raise mine.
He groans at me, âyouâve always been like this! Even whenâ
âZuko I donât want to talk about thatâ I warn, thereâs a plea in my voice but he accepts that, âit was a long time agoâ
âYeah like it was that long agoâ he sasses and I roll my eyes.
âZuko!â
It doesnât take long for things to settle down; Iâm essentially useless now that Zuko has gotten his bending back. Even if he did it how I told him to do it all along but whatever.
The bickering still happens, and I want to throw a knife at him but part of me still loves him. I didnât hate being betrothed to him as much as I thought I did.
âDid you ever miss us?â I ask him, âafter you were banished. I refused to Azula to give away your location and then the Avatars when you wrote meâ I confess, âso I leftâ
âI think. At first I did, but I donâtâ I donât think we wouldâve worked together. We fight all the time. I hated you at first. And you hated meâ He admits, looking down slightly. He sighs heavily
âYeah. I guess. But I didnât really hate- hate youâ I admit, âI missed you. I liked knowing youâ
He nods, âI did like knowing you too, youâve changed so much. I mean your fire itâs pinkâ he laughs
âMaybe itâs from my bubbly personalityâ I tease, he laughs
âYou. Have a bubbly personality!â He laughs and itâs so good to hear, âyou were so shy, like if I sneezed too hard I would scare youâ
I smile softly, âIâve changed so much sense I was twelveâ my hair falls around my face and he tucks the loose strand around my ear
âWhat now that youâre fourteen?â He teases softly, his hand lingers behind my ear. But he removes himself quickly.
âZuko. Im fifteenâ I remind him, itâs embarrassing when he says he knows how my heart flutters and I feel weak in the knees.
âI remember, once you turned eighteen we wouldâveâ he looks away with a blush on his cheeks
âYeah. Gotten marriedâ I laugh, and I keep laughing because the thought of getting married feels so small and childish to the war weâre supposed to be preparing for.
He laughs; rolling laughs that make me keep laughing. My laughs turn short and wheezy before his face straightens, âare you ok? Can you breathe?â His face turns to me and he smiles seeing my smile. Itâs a smile that makes my cheeks hurt and heart race.
âAs the Prince of the fire nation. Iâm supposed to hate you. Because youâve betrayed our nation. But as Zuko. As your Zuko. In this moment I donât feel anything but hate. I feel love for you. A fire that I never want to put outâ he tells me, scooting closer to me. I let him cradle my face, âI never hated youâ
âI never hated you eitherâ a weak laugh escapes me but he kisses me before it truly develops. Itâs a kiss that devours me whole, wrapping itself into my heart and soul.
âIf we make it through this. Letâs make good on that betrothalâ

GN? Reader X SKZ
(Tried to keep some terms general, if that makes sense. No specific body parts were mentioned except for, yk, d1ck.)
MDNI!!!!!!!!
Warning: Dom x Needy Sub dynamic?, swearing, usage of vulgar language, teasing, some are hard doms, some are soft, usage of seggs toys, semi-public seggs mention, smut (only a little), protected or unprotected seggsâ thatâs up to you. Lol.
Note: Iâm so sorry this is late, itâs been a shit month (year). Iâll learn to spell s*x properly when Iâm rich. Until then, itâs SEGGS. (Joking) But regardless, here you go lovely. As always, if no one has told you, Ilyyyy đ«¶đ«¶ If you see any typos, please bypass them I'm sorry.
â„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïž
Chan
He doesnât give in easily when youâre very needy. Surely youâre aware of this by now.
But that doesnât stop you from trying everything under the sun to turn him on and need you just as much as you needed him.
âPlease!â You begged, literally on your knees in front of him. He just looked down at you, unphased.
âPlease what?â His gaze held you captive.
âPleaseâŠâ you couldnât finish that sentence, you brain turning to mush. You mentally cursed, hating that he made you nervous after you so confidently stripped in front of him slowly.
âCome on. Canât fuck you if you donât know what you want.â Chan stood firm on his role as your dom.
âPlease fuck me.â You finally mustered out, meeting his gaze. Chan smirked.
âWell, since you asked so nicely.â
Lee Know
Minho knew you were needy when it came to sex, but he specifically knew when you were needy.
He always knew what to do to make your neediness increase. He loved seeing you get so turned on.
Of course, he wasnât evil. He always gave you the satisfaction you wanted, however, he definitely was going to play with you first.
You squirmed in your seat, trying to control your breathing as Minho remotely controlled the vibrator inside of you. He continuously changed modes, either sending you close to the edge or fueling your need for more.
âHad enough yet?â Minho asked. It was clear that he enjoyed teasing you. You whimpered as the vibrations send shivers through your body.
âI want you!â Your tone a pleading one. Minho took in the sight of you for a momentâ a complete mess for him by him.
âI guess youâve earned it. Come here.â
Changbin
When you were needy, Changbin didnât waste a second. He wanted to give you what you wanted while still being in control.
You came to him, being extra clingy, knowing the second Changbin became just as touchy with you, he would make you feel so good that you would have trouble remembering your name for the minutes that followed.
You started out slow, mindlessly playing with his hand before it ended up resting on your thigh. Then slowly, heâd find himself sliding it towards your inner thigh, gripping and squeezing the flesh under.
Then heâd feel the result of your neediness and within a few seconds, heâs inside of you, taking you hard to satisfy your neediness.
At least in that moment, that is.
Hyunjin
Heâs used to your neediness by now and even enjoys the fact that heâs able to turn you on without having to do anything.
He loves seeing the way you react to his actions, no matter how simple. Hyunjin doesnât like making you wait, though.
One minute heâs running his fingers through his hair, the next he has you bent over and taking him so well, you forgot about everything troubling you.
âHnng! Hyun-Hyunjin!â You felt his hand clasp over your mouth as he took you harderâ faster.
âShh, donât want the others to hear you cum, right?â He whispered sharply close to your ear. You shook your head, but in the back of your mind, you thought about how you wouldnât mind anyone else hearing how good heâs making you feel.
Han
âCan we sneak to the bathroom or somewhere private?â You asked Jisung, feeling particularly needy that day. Turns out you tend to feel needy at the wrong times.
âWhy? What happened?â Jisung was oblivious at first, showing genuine concern. He thought you were having a good time at this party, and you were, but you wanted a different kind if fun.
âIt concerns your dick.â You whispered, feigning innocence for the partygoers around you two. By the look on his face, he seemed just as needy to be inside of you in some way.
âOkay, I see nowâŠâ he immediately looked towards the nearest bathroom. âWhat if someone hearsââ
As soon as you caught his gaze, you pulled him towards the bathroom. Jisung chuckled, âyou know Iâm in control, right?â
âThis isnât about control,â you shut the door and locked it, then immediately lowered to your knees. âItâs about need. And I need you now.â
Felix
Youâd begged all day, the need for him to touch you in any way that he could was gnawing at you.
And still, Felix continued to tease you, making you beg more just for begging in the first place.
âFelix, please. Iâm going to die if you donâtââ
Felix drowned your next words out by crashing his lips onto yours, his hand cupping your jaw just enough to keep your head in place, but not to hurt you.
âTell me, darling. What is it you want exactly?â Felixâs breathy voice filled your ears once his lips departed yours.
âI need you. Whether itâs inside of me or-orâŠâ you were trembling. Not from fear, but from the aching feeling between your legs. Felix kissed you again, softer this time.
âLay back. I think youâve earned it now.â
Seungmin
âNo.â Seungmin said, not wavering in his response to your neediness. He knew youâve been in a constant state of arousal since the event started but he wasnât about to cut it short just to give in to your desiresâ or his, for that matter.
You felt a wave of disappointment but understood. You just wished he would do something immediately.
Seungmin looked over at you and discreetly placed his hand on your thigh underneath the table you two were sat at.
âDonât look so sad. Iâll reward you when we get home.â He winked before gently squeezing your thigh, leaving shivers of need running up and down your body.
âCan you hold out for another hour?â He added in a low whisper, âor are you going to be impatient like last time?â
You wanted so badly to answer âyesâ to the second question, knowing your release would be delayed, but at least heâd start immediately.
But your patience always earned you the best orgasms. Fuck. You had to think carefully, and Seungmin was awaiting your response with a half raised eyebrow.
âI can hold out.â
Seungmin smirked, âgood.â
I.N
Jeongin was never one to make you wait or delay your release whenever you were particularly needy for him.
Sometimes you wondered who was the dom and who was the sub.
of course, when you two were alone, you were reminded of your role as he filled you up while his hands tightly gripped your wrists, pinning you down into the mattress.
Even as he pounded into you, your body feeling the shocks of relief from the pent up tension between you two, you still felt needy for him.
âOhmygodââ you gasped, leading into a wordless cry of pleasure as you felt that familiar knot building up in your stomach.
âYouâre so cute. You act like this is the first time Iâve fucked you like this.â Jeongin grunted, his pace unrelenting.
You knew by now that you were in for a long night.

You and Coryo being Academic rivals, one day you're arguing in class too much and highbottom kicks you out and tells you to figure it out and come back once the two of you finally get along - however you keep arguing until the tension is too much and you end up making out in halls of the academy. đ also imagine highbottom catching you and being so over it like "that's not what i meant when i told you to get along"
perhaps.... had too much fun with this LOL
warning(s): nothing rly. kissing?
you and coriolanus had never been close, you were both convinced that the only thing you had in common was where you two both stood academically. you two were both at the top of the class together, the dean even said it himself, there was no way of distinguishing who was higher than the other because of how close you two were grade wise. both of you always got essays and tests back with one hundred percents, both of you were always the last two people in the library when it was almost midnight (always on opposite sides of the room), and the both of you absolutely hated it. you both hated that you couldn't best each other. the arguing never stopped, the bickering getting on everyones nerves. some people thought that you two would be good friends if you just talked to one another, but no way, not when he was your worst enemy. or so it seemed.
it had gotten so bad that the two of you were even arguing in front of teachers. the most recent time, when everything changed, you two were arguing over something to do with calculus. you were solving complex, two variable integrals and he was committed to telling you how wrong you were about the way that you had solved it on the whiteboard. although the teacher had given the class time to solve problems with your table while she talked with the dean, who had stepped in to have a private word, their talk was interrupted when the dean told you that you two needed to take a breather, and learn how to talk to each other without ripping each other to shreds.
you were fuming, walking out of the classroom before him and stepping into the hallways. you could hear his footsteps behind you, and when you were far enough away, in a hallway that didn't have any classrooms and was instead lined with shelves of past academic pictures, you turned around. "what do you want," you asked him, standing in the middle of the hallway. coriolanus looked almost amused by how pissed off you were. "you know, you ruin everything," you said. "i've never been kicked out of a classroom before until you." your words were venom.
then he began talking. about how you drove him crazy with how smart you were, and how much you liked to rub it in his face. "i just wish that for once you could shut your fucking mouth," coriolanus said to you. he had gotten closer, his breath fanning your face as he towered over you. this close to him and you could smell the faintness of roses, you could see the smile lines on his face, the tiniest bits of freckles dotting his skin. you hated him. you hated how beautiful he was. and so, giving the faintest of a smirk, you stated, "make me."
and although what happened next was a wrong move, on both of your parts who were so keen on keeping appearances and your reputation in toe. put coriolanus grabbed your shoulder and waist, slamming you into the wall of the hallway. you didn't pull away, instead pushing your lips towards his almost as fast as he did the same thing. he muttered something about how he knew how to shut you up against your lips, barely giving you enough time to breath between heated kisses. it was rough, bruising even, like he was trying to consume your soul. his lips were so soft, pissing you off enough at their perfectness that you nipped at them, sucking the bottom one into your teeth and biting. he hissed at the feeling, pulling away for just a moment, panting, and putting his finger to his lip that had a little blood splattered on it. instead of saying something, he kissed you even harsher, tongue pressing into your mouth and slotting between your tongue and the roof of your mouth.
coriolanus' hands were in your hair, pulling it harshly down to gain better access to your lips, his other hand pressing into your hip to keep you against the wall. your hands were on his back and around his neck, fingernails scratching against his pristine skin that gave him goosebumps.
the two of you stayed like that, kissing and basically morphing into one complete enigma for who knows how long. long enough that both of you heard someone clear their throat. it was dean highbottom, looking at the two of you like you were crazy. your cheeks burned, thinking that this was it, you were going to be kicked out of school and you would never have a life ever again. instead, he just looked at the two of you for another moment as coriolanus pulled away, leaving you against the wall. "when i told you to get along . . ." dean highbottom said, turning on his heel to walk away, "that's not what i meant."
you two got detention for a week.
at least afterwards the two of you could continue to get along.

Somewhere in the multiverse
There's a me and you that works
We never fuck it up
We're out there still in love
Somewhere in the multiverse
Maybe that's enough
multiverse - Maya Manuele ft. PEMRBOKE
Sometimes, whenever you look up at the moon at night, you wonder if Jungkook is doing the same thing.
Even when you fall out of love with someone, it still hurts. It hurts because you once loved them so much it felt like the sky would collapse if you couldnât be with them. It hurts because the love wasnât taken from you, but rather it started slipping away on its own, more and more each day until you realize youâre holding onto nothing when there once was everything.
You canât say that youâre too familiar with that kind of hurt though. Youâve never fallen out of love before.
You donât think Jungkook is too familiar with it either, at least not when he left you.
You wonder if he thinks about you from time to time and gets sad. You think he does, because you know that he loved you. Something ended for him too. The memories that you shared were his memories too.
You hope that itâs painful for him whenever thoughts of you cross his mind, because that would mean that he cares. That a part of him still cares.
And if he still cares, then he might come back.
Despite the front that you try to parade around, there is a part of you that will always leave your heart vacant for him, regardless of whether or not he would return. Itâs a scary thought, one that you would rather avoid at all costs, one that says there will be no one that you love more than you loved Jungkook. Maybe there canât be another person that you will love at all.
You can come back quietly, like the wind slipping through the crack I leave in the window at night; or you can announce your return resoundingly like a sudden downpour quenching the summer heat. I donât care. I kept your side of the bed empty and warm, waiting for you to come back. Hoping that you would come home.
[08:47] Yoongi: sure you donât want me to drive you there?
[08:48] Yoongi: i can pick you up in 30
[08:52] You: positive đ€§ i told you i already booked the train. itâs only 4 hours away
[08:53] You: iâll survive, yoongs
[08:55] Yoongi: did you not watch Train To Busan?
[08:56] You: ?
[08:57] Yoongi: what if thereâs a zombie apocalypse
[09:00] You: yoongi if thereâs a zombie apocalypse, how is your CONVERTIBLE supposed to keep me safe
[09:01] Yoongi: iâll put the roof up
[09:02] You: stop talking
[09:02] You: please stop talking.
[09:03] Yoongi: đĄđĄđĄ
[09:03] You: đ
[09:03] You: gotta get dressed now though. iâll see u when i get back? :)
[09:05] Yoongi: fine
[09:06] Yoongi: safe travels. text me when you get there :)
You plop onto your bed with a sigh, glancing at the bag thatâs already packed and sitting near your wardrobe, lonely. You stay like that for a while, contemplating whether or not you should bail at the very last minute.
It was not on your bingo card that youâd be here, agonizing over your ex-boyfriendâs brotherâs wedding. Nope. Absolutely no one saw it coming.
For fuckâs sake, why would they invite you to a wedding? A celebration of love? It feels like youâre being forced onto a prank show, just waiting for someone to jump out and scream in your face.
You learned that the wedding was for close friends and family only, so it would be a relatively small event, which makes it even more confusing why you were also asked to join. Maybe the world is changing too rapidly and youâre just a little old-fashioned for it, but you really donât understand why your ex-boyfriendâs family would want you there.
Taehyung and Jimin were invited too; theyâre Jungkookâs best friends after all. Theyâre practically an extension of the family, Jungkookâs brothers by choice. But Taehyung doesnât come back from his work trip until the day of the wedding, and Jimin⊠Well, he just doesnât want to go to a Busan wedding in the middle of winter.
So why are you even going?
You couldâve declined. Said you couldnât attend because the invitation came in so late. Made up a work trip or a family emergency. Thereâs a plethora of excuses you couldâve used.
Or you couldâve simply said no. That wouldâve been perfectly fine too. No one would even need to ask why.
But maybe it was because his mother had customized the invite with her own handwriting in the back. You wouldâve missed it if you hadnât spent hours meticulously studying the card like someone was going to quiz you. It wasnât anything special - just We hope to see you there - but you think youâd feel really bad to decline after sheâd made the extra effort to ask you to come.
When you told Yoongi that you would be attending Jungkookâs brotherâs wedding, he didnât seem upset. Still cool as a cucumber. Although if he was bothered by the announcement, you donât think he wouldâve let it show. It did take him a minute to take it in, but then he just pecked your cheek and asked if you could bring a plus-one. You both knew that you wouldnât even if that was an option.
Pushing your body off the bed, you drag yourself to the bathroom to splash some water on your face. Then sunscreen. Then change into the clothes youâd already picked out last night. Your train doesnât leave for another hour and fifteen minutes, but you want to be there at least twenty minutes early just in case. This is one of your only good habits.
You rub your eyes when you finally haul yourself outside, thinking you must still be dreaming because what is Jungkookâs car doing here?
You blink a few times, expecting the vehicle to disappear in a puff of white smoke.
Spoiler alert: It doesnât.
The car is in front of you, but the man is nowhere to be found.
You stand there dumbfoundedly, contemplating whether you should wait it out for a little bit to see if heâs actually here. He comes running up to you a couple minutes later, holding two paper cups in his hands, one of them a chai latte. A memory youâd buried long ago comes rushing to the surface. Itâs too early for you to be feeling.
âHi,â he says, his warm breath coming out in a huff of smoke in the crisp morning air.
âHi?â you mutter dumbly when he trades the bag in your hand for the drink. Thereâs a moment where youâre genuinely baffled, wondering if this is a memory reel playing right before your eyes. This is your Jungkook, wearing that same old smile whenever he used to come bounding up your dorm building so you could walk to the library together, where he would hang out with you during your shift if he didnât have classes. âWhat are you doing here?â
You donât remember telling him what time your train was, so heâd probably badgered it out of Taehyung or Jimin somehow.
âI thought I could drive us there,â he says. âI texted you about it.â
Well, that explains it. You donât bother with his dozens of messages anymore. âOh, uhm, I already booked the train.â
This doesnât seem to faze him at all. âFree cancellation up to 15 minutes before departure.â Jungkook grins, clearly eager despite your obvious reluctance. Itâs too early for this, whatever the hell this is.
When you told him that you had RSVPâd yes to the invitation, he was surprised that you even knew about the wedding. He even seemed nervous that day.
âWhat if Iâd already left?â you ask.
He blinks, then stammers like a confused child. Itâs cute, and you have to mentally slap yourself over the head for even thinking that.
âThen Iâd go after you.â
How? you scoff internally. Unrealistic.
Regardless, not even an hour ago, you were declining Yoongiâs offer to drive you there. Now, youâre standing here, in front of your ex-boyfriend, contemplating whether or not you should go with him.
âLetâs go,â he says after a minute. âWe donât wanna be stuck in traffic.â
âI havenât said yes.â Yet. âItâs a 4-hour drive.â
You donât have to clarify what you mean. He understands it.
You both just stare at each other for a moment, the tension suddenly thickening with every passing second. Four hours on the road. Four hours alone in a car with Jungkook. Thatâs about two hundred minutes more than you think you can handle.
Itâs like he can see right through you. âDonât think about it,â he says, voice dropping lower. âItâs just a weekend. Everything will still be here for you to think about when we get back.â
In your head, it translates to: All of our shit will still be here when we get back. You can keep being mad at me then.
You hope thatâs not true. You hope that when you get back, the things that keep you up at night will simply cease to exist. That in the two days youâll be gone, a genie will materialize and solve all your problems for you.
Either way, itâs probably for the best that you arenât mean to him this weekend. Youâre stuck with him for the next 48 hours or so; itâll only stress you out even more if you channel all of your energy into tormenting him. Besides, youâre already the ex girlfriend who has no place alongside his family. You donât want to be the dark cloud raining on everyoneâs parade too.
Maybe youâd already made up your mind when you let him take the bag from you.
For the first half of the drive, you were unconscious.
Itâs a useless superpower that you have, the ability to fall asleep anywhere - literally anywhere, including in the passenger seat of your ex-boyfriendâs car while he escorts you to his hometown. Melatonin gummies manufacturers hate you.
You couldâve slept the whole drive, but around the second hour mark, you were startled awake when your body jostled forward, straining against your seatbelt uncomfortably. There was an arm trying to hold you back, despite the seatbelt having done its job well.
âFuck,â Jungkook curses before he turns toward you, worry written all over his face. âIâm sorry. Iâm sorry, are you okay?â
You blink, still half asleep. âIâm okay,â you say. The minivan that Jungkook almost rear-ended continues on its merry way, carrying what seems to be a family of five. âWhat happened?â
He sighs, his outstretched arm retreating back to his side. âI got a bit distracted, thatâs all.â
You take in your surroundings then. Thereâs barely any other cars in sight, no tacky billboard that sticks out like a sore thumb to catch your attention. Thereâs just the freeway, stretching on empty for all you can see.
âBy what?â you ask.
âNothing,â he says. âGo back to sleep. Iâll wake you when we get there.â
See, you have the superpower of falling asleep anywhere and everywhere, but once youâve been woken up, itâs not as easy to fall back asleep.
That, and the fact that youâre hungry as shit.
You open your mouth, about to say no, about to offer to drive the rest of the way if Jungkook is tired, but your stomach doesnât let you get a word out. It growls, filling the space of the car, making you want to chuck yourself out the fucking window and run all the way back to the city. This wouldnât have happened had you taken the train, because if you had, there wouldâve been food services and no one would be subject to hearing your stomach sing like itâs chewing out a small puppy in there. Life is nothing but an endless pit of embarrassment and despair.
Your arms hold themselves tighter around your frame, practically squeezing into your abdomen as you will it to please, please, please be quiet. Jungkook stares at you, and you can tell by the teeny tiny quirk of his lips that heâs trying to bite back a smile. Heâs relaxed, but thereâs still something hesitant on his face. It takes him a minute before he finally throws the question out.
âDo you want to go to that guksu place that we used-â that we used to go to, âyou know the place. The one thatâs right off the freeway?â
The sun is out today. The sky unfolds endlessly just outside the window, coloring blue everything your eyes land on. There are strips of clouds scattered here and there, like delicate strokes of white paint on an azure canvas. Even the winter cold has to soften. You bite into your cheek. Donât think, thatâs what he had told you.
Not much about this quaint restaurant has changed. The quirky decorations are still where they used to be, the windows still the same unique stained glass that you never came across anywhere else. You remember the elderly woman who runs the place, even if she doesnât have a single clue who you are. The golden retriever you used to fawn over every time you stopped by, sits quietly by the door and watches the cars pass by, his fur now graying as weariness begins to settle into those old bones.
You wouldâve been displeased if the place had changed, because, well, you donât like change. But then again, this familiarity is dangerous. It tricks you into thinking that everything is still the same, even you and him. Deludes you into believing that youâre still in love and that heâll walk out of here holding your hand.
Regardless, the first spoonful has you biting back a smile.
âHow is it?â Jungkook asks.
It makes you feel all warm inside, and then a little sad, nostalgic.
âTastes just the same,â you tell him simply.
âHmm.â
He lets you satisfy your hunger in peace. Itâs the least he can do anyway.
Thereâs a wall near the back of the restaurant, where people could hang polaroids of themselves and cute handwritten notes. You think if you dig through the hundreds of photos scattered across the space, you might be able to find you and Jungkook there, if you two havenât already been thrown out long ago to make room for new memories.
He pays for your food after youâre both finished, despite some protesting on your side. As you leave, youâre busy thinking that if you could have a moment to marvel at that far-back wall of memories, if you could find a photo of you and him there, you would probably sneak it into your coat pocket.
Itâd be another thing to add to your pile of Jungkook memorabilia - the old clothes in the back of your closet, the stack of dusty polaroids at the bottom of your drawer. You wonder if he keeps anything of yours, maybe an old t-shirt that you forgot to take back. Itâs probably unlikely, but a girl can hope.
You miss the way Jungkook glances back, thinking the exact same thing.
You survive the rest of the drive with more ease, probably because of the food. You spend most of the remaining 2 hours leaning against the window, humming to the radio, closing your eyes but not really sleeping. You even forget to be nervous about what is to come.
That is, until the car pulls up to the venue.
Itâs absolutely gorgeous, and a lot bigger than you imagined - a modern beach house overlooking the waters. Itâs not as extravagant as one would expect to see when they come to a wedding, but considering the small crowd in attendance, this is more than enough. You see people rush in and out of the place even from far away - planners, caterers, the bridesmaids and groomsmen, probably.
You feel a bit comforted just watching this. His family seems to be doing a lot better than before. Itâs nice to know.
You barely make it out of the car before someone calls your name, and pulls you into a hug that knocks the wind out of you. Although, when you catch the scent of her hair, you instantly know who it is.
Parents usually have a scent thatâs distinct to only their kids, a scent so cozy and homely that no perfume can ever mask. You can only describe your momâs scent with a feeling, specifically the feeling of your chest tightening, tingling with a bittersweetness that you never found elsewhere.Â
Strangely enough, Jungkookâs mother has always made you feel the opposite. She makes you feel relieved to be in her embrace, like she accepts you for who you are even if all you are to her, at the end of the day, is a stranger.
You hug her back awkwardly, hesitantly, in front of Jungkookâs dad, his brother Junghyun, and a girl you donât know. You assume that sheâs the bride-to-be, the main character whom this weekend revolves around. Sooji, you remember that was the name on the wedding invitation.
You get choked up suddenly, eyes turning glassy though you quickly blink it away. Youâre not sure if youâve had someone be so happy to see you. Bypassers might even think that you just found the cure for cancer.
For a second there, you wonder if your mere presence has ever made your mother this overjoyed.
You look at Jungkook for help, silently asking him to rescue you. Who else are you supposed to turn to if not him?
He understands that look. âOkay, mom,â he says, entangling her arms from you with ease, âY/Nâs tired from the drive. Letâs let her rest, yeah? Iâll show her the room.â
She ignores her son. âHoney,â she says, brushing your hair away from your face so she could see you better. âThank you for coming.â She used to insist that you call her âmomâ, or at least by her first name because âMrs. Jeonâ was too formal for someone she considered family.
You now have to opt for the latter, because âmomâ isnât an option for you anymore.
âThank you for inviting me, Mrs. Jeon,â you tell her with a smile. Youâre not really sure what else to say, but it makes you a little sad just calling her that.
She opens her mouth before closing it again, seemingly about to jokingly scold you for the formality before she recognizes the bittersweet look in your eyes. She just smiles at you then. Thereâs not much to be done about it.
You donât know if anyone else sees how the moment is weighed down. Probably not. Maybe itâs just you and her who share this sentiment.
Jungkook doesnât wait for his mom anymore. Sons, typical. He wedges himself between the two of you like a bulldozer and leads you inside the house.Â
Even though all you have is an overnight bag, Jungkook carries it for you all the way up to your room, which is only down the hall from his. Then he disappears pretty quickly afterward, saying something about his best man duties and putting out fires. He seems apologetic as he tells you this, but itâs not like youâre expecting him to babysit you all weekend.
You bore yourself to death in your room for a while, before you remember you have to text Yoongi to let him know you got here safely. Though, you stop short of telling him that it was Jungkook who drove you here. Itâs trivial enough, right? You donât want Yoongi to feel bad over nothing. You do, however, inform Taehyung and Jimin when you text them about it, to which Jimin only responds with a preemptively disapproving âDonât do anything I wouldnât do.â
When you get too stir-crazy, you wander outside, hoping to explore the beach before it gets dark and colder. You try to stay out of everyoneâs way, because a good guest is a quiet guest. You seem to be doing a good job. No one notices you, not even Jungkookâs mom but thatâs because sheâs the person you actively want to avoid the most. You donât know what youâd even say to her if she gets you alone.
Everything is hectic, as one can probably imagine when it comes to wedding preparations. You havenât had anyone close to you get married yet, so itâs safe to say that youâre pretty much clueless about all of this. You wonder what itâll be like when your big day comes around, if you even ever get married. You havenât thought about it in a long time. Why would you? You donât really have a reason to think about this. Itâs much easier to picture Taehyungâs or Jiminâs wedding day than your own.
Your opinion on having kids still remains the same, and you were never one of those girls who daydreamed about having a big and extravagant wedding, but itâs not such a bad idea to ponder about. You still think marriage is a scary thing - itâs one of the biggest commitments a person could ever make - but youâre not entirely opposed to getting married.Â
Why are you even mulling over this? Your time might never even come.
When you round the corner to get the steps that would lead you down to the beach, you run into Sooji and a woman holding a thick binder - must be a wedding planner. You give Jungkookâs future sister-in-law an awkward smile in greeting, which she returns much more gracefully before she tells the woman that sheâll be with her in a minute.
So now youâre stuck here, about to make small talk with a person you have never met before, and will likely never see again. Great.Â
âHi,â you say, extending a hand. âI havenât had the chance to introduce myself. Iâm Y/N.â
âIâm Sooji,â she replies warmly as she shakes your hand, and you have to stop yourself from being a little weirdo and thinking about how silky her hair looks up close. âYouâre Jungkookâs⊠friend, right?â
You purse your lips before nodding with a chuckle. The pause tells you that she knows, and you wouldnât be surprised if sheâs uncomfortable having you here.Â
âIâm sorry if this is weird. You probably donât want a complete stranger at your wedding.â
Sooji shakes her head instantly, waving her hands around to dismiss your apology. âPlease, itâs totally fine. Junghyunâs mom talked to me about it before we sent out the invites. I wouldnât have agreed if I was really bothered. Donât worry about it, seriously.â
âWhy did you agree?â you ask, trying to sound as polite as possible. âYou donât know who I am.â
âI guess I was curious.â She shrugs, before laughing lightly as she says, âI used to think you werenât real.â
âHuh?â
âShe talks about you constantly. Never in front of Jungkook, of course. But sheâs really fond of you, and you probably already know that doesnât happen very often. She really does see you like a daughter. She made you sound too good to be true.â
Youâre not sure how to respond to that. His mom still thinks about you, still talks about you after all this time. Youâre just his ex-girlfriend, but she considers you her family. You donât know what to do with this information nor the way it pinches your heart.
âI-â You purse your lips, fumbling with the responses in your head. You settle on a light laugh, because Sooji can probably tell that youâre struggling with the words too. âI have to be honest. I donât know what to say to that.â
âYou donât have to say anything. I just thought you should know that youâre still very much loved here.â She gives you a kind smile, and it looks like she wants to tell you something else but decides against it in the end. Soojiâs eyes land somewhere behind you before she points in that general direction. âI have to go take care of an issue with the flowers, but look, Jungkook is here. Why donât you ask him to show you around?â
And then sheâs already off. Overall, what a⊠strange interaction.
You turn around to see Jungkook standing near one of the entrances to the house. As you watch him talk to someone - a bridesmaid, you assume, or just one of the other guests - you try not to think about the fact that thereâs a stirring sensation in your stomach, and that it only intensifies when she throws her head back in a pretty laugh, a perfectly manicured hand landing on his arm like heâs the most charming person sheâs ever met.Â
You donât give it a name, donât label it green in color even though youâre blue and heâs golden sunshine. You donât acknowledge that itâs a feeling, because doing so would make it real and there are certain truths that youâd rather delude yourself into thinking are lies.
When Jungkookâs eyes catch yours and he cuts off the woman mid-sentence with a curt excuse me, you donât acknowledge that feeling either, but itâs warm and it blooms in your chest as he makes his way to you. Itâs something victorious, something that tickles your ribs.
He comes to you like youâre a destination heâs been waiting all his life to reach, and you certainly, adamantly donât acknowledge the spectacularly dizzying feeling that swallows you whole when he places a gentle hand on your arm, his voice soft as he says, âThere you are. I was looking for you.â
The familiarity, itâs catastrophic.
âI was just walking around,â you tell him. âThereâs not a lot to do here. I was bored.â
âYou have me,â he says. Probably not in that way, but youâd like to think thatâs how he means it. âI donât have any more fires to put out. What do you want to do now?â
You glance over your surroundings, still set on your original plans. You wanted to go alone, but you suppose you can let him accompany you. You check the time on your phone before asking, âCan we go down to the beach? I wanna see if we can catch the sunset.â
You used to do this whenever you came here to visit - walk along the beach, hand in hand, sunlight in your hair and the cool breeze holding you tight in the afterglow.
The keyword here is âused toâ. Now, you have to stuff your hands in your pockets just so you donât reach for him every time you shiver.
Itâs late enough in the afternoon for you to see the moon faintly shine against a blue and orange backdrop. Sun and moon, together in the same frame. It feels symbolic somehow. Youâre not really sure.
âThe moon looks like an egg,â Jungkook observes astutely, taking casual strides next to you. It makes you burst into easy laughter, which makes him laugh with you too. You stop walking when you reach what you think is a good spot to watch the sky.Â
âLetâs sit here for a bit,â you say. Itâs not the greatest idea - sitting idly by would only make you colder - but you just want to stop and look at the sunset. Once youâre seated in the sand, you respond to his moon remark, âThatâs true, yâknow. NASA said so.â
âYeah,â he says, settling down beside you, âyou made me read that.â
Youâd forgotten about it, and you didnât think that heâd remember. Itâs freezing cold and the moon looks like an egg, but youâre not thinking, and you feel safe. Nothing can hurt you here, or at least thatâs what youâd like to tell yourself.
You wrap your arms around yourself to keep from shivering, but you still shiver anyways.
âAre you cold?â he asks.
âA little,â you admit. âI shouldâve worn a thicker sweater. But itâs o-â
He doesnât let you finish the sentence, just smoothly takes off his jacket to put it around your shoulders.
You put your hands atop his to stop him. When you touch him, thereâs an electric tingle that almost makes you flinch. He feels warm, still resembling a human furnace.Â
âNo, you donât have t-â
âTake the jacket, Y/N,â he says. âItâs just a jacket.â
The jacket smells like him. It only makes you want to crawl further into the warmth.
He seems more self-assured here, thatâs what you notice. More like the version of himself that he used to be. Confident, sometimes borderline cocky. Annoying but oddly endearing, you came to love that about him.
His relaxed demeanor is understandable. Youâre merely a visitor here, while this is his homeground.Â
âIâm curious about something,â he says after a while.
âOkay.â
âWhatâs the deal with Wednesdays?â he asks.Â
âYou know how they say bad things come in threes?â You purse your lips, thinking it over, feeling something bitter in your mouth as you recall the events that led to this. âMy parents got divorced on a Wednesday. I moved out of momâs house on a Wednesday. AndâŠâ You hold your knees close to your chest as you hesitate to utter this last part, âwe broke up on a Wednesday.â
You see the exact moment Jungkook mentally slaps himself, paling a couple shades as he tongues his cheek, not expecting his question to inadvertently lead back to this. It wasnât your intention to guilt trip him. It was true that he dumped you on a Wednesday, but you donât want the mood to turn sour, to have to mull over this again. Like he said, it will still be there for you to worry about when you get back. Youâre not looking forward to returning to a shitshow, but what youâd hate even more is to tarnish the memories of this place just because you canât keep from being vindictive for not even a weekend.
âI was born on a Wednesday too, so I guess bad things come in fours sometimes,â you continue, chuckling to yourself humorlessly.
A frown appears on his face almost instantaneously. âWhat is that supposed to mean?â
You shrug. Jungkook turns his body toward you, which makes you spare him a glance before you return your gaze to the horizon. His face is so serious that itâs almost funny. âY/N,â he presses. âWhy would you say that?â
âCâmon, itâs a joke. I was just being self-deprecating. Lighten up.â
âWhy are you talking like that?â
âLike what? Contrary to popular belief, I donât walk around with a thundercloud over my head all the time,â you laugh lightly. âI figured if there was a day to be nice to you, it should be today. And tomorrow, I guess.â
âThis is you being nice?â
Funny how just a few weeks ago, you were fighting with him and calling him a hypocrite. Now, youâre sitting together, watching the sun set, trying not to be mean to him.
âIâm not picking a fight with you,â you say. âThis is nice enough.â
âItâs not even my wedding.â
âOkay.â You glance at him again, letting words flow without a single thought. âIâll be even nicer to you on your wedding day then.â
You donât know where that even came from, but something aches the very second the words leave your mouth. The thought of him getting married one day makes you just nauseous, even though you always knew that it was a possibility. It might even be inevitable.
You clear your throat, waving the sullen feeling away. Your body shivers then, even after the added warmth of his jacket. Maybe youâre not shivering because of the cold anymore.
He doesnât say anything, but you can feel his eyes linger on the side of your face. The both of you keep tiptoeing around an elephant that follows you wherever you go.Â
You hug your knees close to your chest, watching the blue sky melt into the golden horizon, splattered with ribbons of cotton candy clouds.
You want to scooch closer to him and have him wrap his arm around your shoulders. This isnât the spot where you used to draw your names in the sand, enveloped in a giant heart like two lovesick kids, but wouldnât it be nice to imagine that it is?
âI was always really happy here,â you mumble to yourself.
You were, truly. This city was your pocket of hope, your piece of peace.
Being here brings back so many memories.
Itâs the same feeling you get every time you pass by somewhere you used to live. The nostalgia of walking down the same road you used to walk every day until your shoes wore out. The familiarity of your surroundings. The bittersweetness of looking into a past you cannot hold anymore, of remembering the person you were at a certain period in your life, of knowing the things you do now that you didnât back then.
You long for things you cannot change.
Nostalgia only grows stronger with time, you can always count on that.
He hums in agreement, before admitting quietly, âI miss you.â One pulls, the other pushes. The water wavers, like itâs touched by his words, simple but earnest. Youâre touched too, somewhere in your heart, where you know you should be writing someone elseâs name now.
Should?
âYouâre pushing it,â you say softly.
âI know.â
You look at him. Maybe itâs because youâre back in the city that holds only good memories of you two. Maybe youâre hypnotized by the way the pink and purple hues kiss his side profile, making him feel like a fever dream and not someone you loved. Maybe itâs the cold, making you yearn for any source of warmth. But instead of returning his sentiment, you say, âItâll pass.â
He meets your eyes. Thereâs something pleading in his gaze. All things pass eventually. Time moves forward, people move on. Bad things will pass sooner or later. Your worst heartbreak, your most arduous trials, your saddest moments, they will all pass.
And good things⊠good things will have to pass too, whether you like it or not.
Your fingers twitch from where theyâre still holding onto your body. You itch to reach for his hand. You donât tell him what he wants to hear, even though hereâs a part of you that wants to say it back. In a better world, you would be telling him I love you too, instead of having to suppress an I miss you too.
âAll things have to pass eventually. This will too.â

[21:17] Taebear đ»: :)
[21:20] Taebear đ»: you wonât look like ass btw
You clocked out right after you told Taehyung that you would. It wasnât a peaceful sleep though. The anxiety simmering in your belly woke you up a few times throughout the night. You donât even know why you were anxious. Itâs not like you were the one who was about to walk down the aisle.
When morning finally came and you managed to untangle yourself from the surprising comfort of your familiar bed, you practically dragged your feet for the subsequent two hours, trying to get ready. As if that would actually slow down the passage of time.
You had to compartmentalize the things you needed to do in a mental checklist. Makeup. Hair. Dress. Stare at yourself in the mirror for half an hour and internally freak out while waiting for Jungkook to come get you from your room.
Now youâre sitting in the wedding hall, watching people filter into the room. Itâs not even a lot of people, but youâre still overwhelmed regardless.
You feel so exposed, even though heâs the only one looking at you in this room of strangers. Heâs been looking at you like that ever since he first saw you this morning, in a dress that you got just days before the wedding. You still donât know if itâs entirely appropriate for your ex-boyfriendâs brotherâs wedding - maybe a bit revealing - but it was the only one you could find on such short notice.
When you tried on the dress for Taehyung and Jimin a few days ago, Taehyung said you looked beautiful. Jimin said you looked decent, âsix point five out of ten,â which translated to âpretty niceâ in Jimin-lingo. That wouldâve been enough if you were going to any other wedding, not one where Jungkook would also be attending.
You had wanted him to see you and regret ever leaving you.
It was a silly thought, just a tad adolescent.
You had wanted him to see you in your dress and be consumed with thoughts of you until he couldnât even see straight. To be the only thing on his mind, you didnât think it was a lot to ask for.
That was before he told you not to think about it and youâd been convinced to just go with the flow just for two days. It was before he actually did see you earlier today in your dress - a simple midnight blue satin cowl neck with a slit in the thigh - but you were the one rendered helpless and speechless. He had stared at you for a minute when he came to walk you down from your room, then heâd said, all breathless even though both of you were just standing there, âYouâre beautiful.â
Youâre beautiful, not You look beautiful.
You donât know why, but you appreciated it.
It made your cheeks burn underneath your artificial rosy blush. Stupid, you thought to yourself when you two made your way to the main hall. Stupid for letting yourself get dizzy because of a single compliment from him.
Youâre seated with his parents, which makes sense because you donât know anybody here except for them. Well, maybe you know one of his cousins whose kid you and Jungkook used to babysit whenever their family was in the city, but you doubt that he even remembers you anymore.
When the ceremony begins, your heart instantly feels like itâs about to drop to the pit of your stomach.
You canât lie to yourself. It stings.
It stings just sitting here next to his parents like a daughter-in-law, like a member of their family, watching his brother solidify his happy ending.
It stings that Jungkook is standing up there, looking as handsome as ever, but his eyes arenât on the couple. They keep flickering to you no matter how much you try to pretend that they donât.
It stings that even though you donât think about marriage often - or maybe you just donât allow yourself to - you canât deny that the thought does cross your mind from time to time. Any time that youâd wander the corridors inside your head, youâd pass the doors that you keep unopened on purpose but thereâs always that one door marked with a bright red X that you can never sidestep.
You watch Junghyun and Sooji with their teary smiles and shaky hands, shaky but happy. Thereâs a sudden clarity that this couldâve been you and him in another life. Forever is a lie, but you wouldâve perjured yourself a thousand times for him. I do - you wouldâve meant it.
You imagine yourself in Soojiâs place, and Jungkook, standing right on the other side, holding both your hands in his. A beautiful and radiant bride terrified of the altar. A dashing groom with a smile that could rival the sun and shoulders weighing heavier than he lets on.
It wouldâve looked clumsy, but it couldâve been right.
You wonder if heâs wondering the same thing. Maybe he is. You hope he is.
When the ceremony ends with a kiss shared between the newlyweds, you wipe away the tears that well up in your eyes. The people around you do the same thing, but theyâre doing it for the right reason, out of genuine joy for the happy couple. You donât think you can say the same for yourself.
Some of the bridesmaids fawn over him. Itâs reasonable, you suppose. One tends to do that in the presence of Jeon Jungkook.
You watch as they come up to him one by one to ask him to dance, watch as he politely declines until theyâre all stalking away with similar pouts on their faces. You watch him until his eyes lock on you, sitting at a table near the back, nursing a glass of champagne.
He weaves himself with ease through the people making their way to the dance floor. When heâs in front of you, he holds out a hand.
âDance with me?â he asks, his doe eyes working overtime to lure you in with their sparkles, though youâd rather stay here where you can easily go unnoticed until the night ends. âOne song?â
âI donât know how,â you say, even as youâre taking his hand and standing up.
âI showed you how, remember?â
âThat was a long time ago.â
He squeezes you reassuringly. âJust follow my lead,â he says, walking the both of you to the floor. âCâmon.â
Once the music starts, your heels stomp on his feet at least three times before you start finding the beat to move along to. Muscle memory, or whatever, is bullshit. You remember absolutely nothing of what he showed you.
Youâre grateful that the song is slow, because it makes it easier for you to follow the beat with your two left feet. He takes one of your hands in his, the other settling on the small of your back, guiding you to move in a steady rhythm.
You feel his motherâs eyes on the two of you, because she must be somewhere nearby, watching you like a hawk. You feel his gaze on your face while you keep yours on the knot of his tie, just trying to keep your composure and to not step on his feet with your heels.
The blur of white that you catch from the periphery of your vision makes you turn your head. Sooji and Junghyun are close by, swaying together slowly to the soft music, both of them glowing with happiness. She must sense your eyes on her, because she lifts her gaze up to meet yours. She smiles at the sight of you and Jungkook, and you smile back, because you donât know how else to respond to that.
You donât say it, but you do think it. Your fingers tighten around his hand ever so slightly.
Could that have been us?
If the answer is yes, then it would hurt.
If the answer is no, then it would hurt.
The point of your story is that itâs painful however you choose to look at it. Thereâs no other way to frame it. Itâs just painful, because youâre never going to get any of it back.
You bite your lip, then turn away from the happy couple but you still donât look at Jungkook. You look at your hand in his, and thatâs when you see it.
âHowâd you get that?â you ask, gently tracing the inch of slightly raised skin on his knuckles. You never noticed the scar until now.
âIt was four years ago, I think? After Taehyung and I almost got into a fight, I went outside and⊠punched a wall,â he says, wincing as he recalls the memory.
His answer takes you aback. âYou and Taehyung got into a fight?â
âAlmost,â he corrects. âIt was a long time ago. Didnât they tell you?â
âNo, they didnât say anything. What happened?â
âNothing happened.â
âIf it was really nothing, you wouldnât have punched a wall.â You frown. It makes you miss a few beats, but the song isnât whatâs important now, even if Jungkook is still trying to steer you back into the dance. âTaehyung isnât violent. You arenât violent.â
âIâm serious,â he says finally. âItâs nothing. We were just drunk and stupid.â
You know there must be more to it, that something must have happened or been said to trigger such a reaction from both of them. But you also know that you wonât probably get anything out of Jungkook if he doesnât want to tell you.
You give up, for now. âFine. If you say so.â Youâll just have to weasel it out of Jimin later.
The song comes to an end, before another one comes on. If Jungkook remembers that he only asked for one song, maybe heâs counting his blessings that youâre still here and dancing with him, because he doesnât mention it.
For some reason, you pull your hand away from his, only to slide up his shoulder to lock both of your hands behind his neck. He seems surprised, but he does the same around your waist.
Jungkookâs gaze flickers to your lips briefly, then back to your eyes again. You find yourself doing the same and wonder what he tastes like after all the time youâve been apart. Is he still as sweet as you remember? You used to tease that it was because of the excessive sugar he put in everything, but you knew it was really just him. The few inches between you are so inviting that itâs practically tempting you to close the gap. You could, easily in fact. Blame it on one too many glasses of champagne later if you want.
He looks younger like this, like the boy you loved, starry eyes and dimpled smile. His shoulders are always the most comfortable resting place, the crook of his neck your long lost home. This is nice, you think, to see him again even though it feels like a fever dream. Memories of your first date, your first kiss, come to life before your eyes so realistically that you could almost touch them.
Loved? That sounds funny to you.
The people you used to be, souls wrapped in innocence, when the world was nothing but the arms of the person you loved. You reach out, and the memories quickly fade from view. The only trace they leave behind is a speck of gold on your fingertips, a memento of charming naiveté for you to tuck neatly away in the corner of your mind, but also a reminder that ah, they only exist in the locket of your heart now. Because he has changed, and you think you must have too. Life, as they say, goes on.
âWe made it. Kind of. Thatâs crazy,â you find yourself saying.
âDid we?â
âYou donât think so?â you chuckle. âWeâre in a group chat with the Kim Seokjin who spams it with bad jokes on a daily basis. Iâd call that a win.â
That makes him laugh. âIf you put it like that, yeah, maybe. Sure.â
Other people might be fooled, but it doesnât sound at all convincing to you. The light doesnât really reach his eyes. You bite the inside of your cheek, thinking of how to translate the sudden poignant turn of the moment.
âIt isnât everything you hoped itâd be?â you ask.
His shoulders rise then fall quickly in a second-long shrug. âI thought it would make me feel more⊠fulfilled. But it doesnât. Not really.â
The way he says it and the way heâs looking at you makes your heart dive. You understand what he means. Youâre good at what you do, and you donât need reassurance from anyone to recognize that. But sometimes, it doesnât feel like itâs enough. Doesnât feel like itâs real, like itâs validated.
When you landed your first big project, even before Yoongi, you were so proud of yourself. You were bursting with excitement but you werenât happy, and you knew what the reason was. Something was missing that couldnât be filled, not even with all your friendsâ hundreds of messages of encouragement.Â
Itâs beyond stupid, this feeling like your wins amount to nothing at all just because of one person. You wanted him there to celebrate every achievement with you and he wasnât, and the milestones seemed incomplete without the presence of him. It doesnât feel like youâve accomplished anything because this always used to be a dream you thought youâd make come true together.
âItâs lonely,â he concludes.
It sounds like he feels the same way, like he wanted you to be there too.
He suddenly holds you tighter than you think he needs to, like heâs afraid to let go of you. You imagine that he doesnât want to let go of you, and it makes you feel better for a second. But it doesnât change the fact that he still did in the end. And he will have to when this ends.
What was the point of this? Why did he bring this upon yourselves when he seems to be as hurt as you are? All of this time, all of these years, lost to what? You couldâve been happy together but instead, you were both lost and miserable.
When the music stops - you lost count of how many songs itâs been - you pull away from him. He looks disappointed, maybe even a little hurt for some reason.
âIâm gonna get some air,â you say, already turning away from him.
âY/N-â
âI need some air.â Then youâre weaving through the dancing couples despite Jungkook calling your name. How did he manage it? How did he not look back when you called out for him?
You hastily grab your coat on the way out. Itâs not going to keep you warm, but thatâs not something youâre even remotely concerned with.
Itâs everywhere, you feel it down to your bones.
The wind wraps itself tightly around you, intertwining in your hair, slipping through the cracks of your fingers, caressing your face in a chilling touch. You greet the cold like a long lost sister, shivering violently with nostalgia. It was there for you more than your own flesh and blood.
Is that why you like the sea at night? Because it reminds you of mom?
Itâs dark out here, barely anything is visible except for a lighthouse sending out light in the quiet of the night. You canât see much, but you can certainly hear it. Youâre not sure if the music is coming from inside the venue, or if itâs still ringing in your ears. Itâs probably the latter; youâre too far away to be able to catch the music anyway. But regardless, the tune is quickly drowned out by the sea.
The waves crash violently against the shore like itâs out for blood. Thereâs a magnetic pull, as if itâs calling out for you. You want to go to it, to reach out and feel the cold outside of your body for once, but you stay there despite your legs itching to stand up and run straight ahead. Into the water and down under.
You could lie down and close your eyes for a moment. The sound of the water, as sharp and brutal as it is, nurtures a part of you somehow.
You just want to be alone. You donât want to talk to Taehyung, or Jimin, or even Yoongi.
Oh.
Yoongi.
Itâs a terrible feeling, knowing that youâre going to hurt Yoongi. Knowing that youâre going to kill this even before it has a chance to truly begin.
Truth be told, you canât envision a future with Yoongi. There isnât anything wrong with him, because heâs not the problem here. Yoongi is fun, heâs considerate, he keeps things light on purpose for you, until youâre ready to initiate something more serious. Heâs good for you, even Taehyung thinks so.
But you canât love Yoongi, not in the way that he wants you to. Not more than you love Jungkook.
There you go. Ruining things again.
Did you ruin Jungkook? Is that what happened?
The layers on you are no match for the sea at night. The wind hisses relentlessly, biting at any part of your skin thatâs exposed.
It takes you back to that night. Almost everything does, actually.
Maybe thatâs why you never even stopped to consider starting anything with anyone, because it always ends. If thereâs a beginning, then there will be an inevitable ending. Love isnât made to last and you arenât meant to carry love with you. Youâve been abandoned twice. If it happens a third time, itâs a pattern, and then your hypothesis will only be proven. That the problem here is you.
Youâd be lying if you said you havenât wondered when itâll finally be Taehyungâs turn to leave. He eventually will, right? That oneâs gonna hurt.
Then, youâre startled when someone calls your name.
âWhatâs wrong?â Jungkook asks. The wind and the waves masked the sound of his footsteps walking up to you. When you turn around to face him, his eyes grow worried, almost panicked. âWhy are you crying?â
You breathe out irritatedly before you hastily wipe at your cheeks. You didnât even realize that youâd been crying. âNothingâs wrong. Iâm fine,â you say, though you both know itâs a lie. âIâm just tired. Iâm going up to my room.â
He catches your wrist in a firm grip when you try to walk away. You wish heâd just leave you alone, but you knew he wouldnât drop it just like that.
âI said Iâm fine,â you insist.
âYou were crying,â he says. âDid I do something wrong?â
He didnât, at least not tonight.
God, you really donât want to do this right now.
âJungkook,â you warn. âLet go of me.â
You try to free yourself from his grip, hoping that heâll get the hint and back off for now. Instead, he pulls you into his chest, where you struggle to escape from his hold until you realize your efforts are futile. He takes the windâs place, wound tightly around you, so tightly that itâs nearly impossible for you to move.
You hiss out his name, but he doesnât budge.Â
âJungkook, can you just- Fuck!â
Damn him.
You realize heâs not giving up, which in turn makes you give up struggling, hoping that if you let this be a moment, then itâll be something that can pass.
Youâre just standing there, letting him hold you, letting yourself be held by the person who broke you in the first place. This feels exactly like where youâre supposed to be - in his arms, with your face hidden in the crook of his neck, his gentle fingers stroking your hair. Thereâs not a lot that you could do but lean into that feeling the same way you lean into him. One foot in the sand, one foot in the past. A hand on the doorknob of time, wondering if you should look back or look forward.
You want to be alone, but that never used to apply with him.
The wind stills, the sea calms. You remain unmoving too, locked in his embrace. You feel the faint rhythm of his heart, beating faster than you think it should. If you could, you would bottle this moment up and live there forever.
I miss you, you think.
I miss you.
I miss you.
I miss you.
Then your arms are around him too. It only makes him hold you tighter, and all you can think about is how much you miss him, how painful it is to miss him, how you feel like youâre being pulled apart at the seams from the weight of missing him.Â
Fuck.
Can you pretend that the last few years never happened? Is there a higher power that would allow you to go back to the night before that wretched Wednesday, when everything was still perfect? Hundreds of days of your life, can you pretend that it was just one long nightmare? When you wake up, youâll be back in his humble apartment, tangled up together in his bed. Warm sunlight, your silken youth, and him. It was all you ever needed.
Again with the devastating familiarity. The city, the beach. His motherâs warmth that always made you reminisce about your own motherâs coldness. How Jungkook used to find you in moments like this and just stayed by your side until the dejection passed. He understood that he could never understand it the way you did.
You hear yourself sniffle, then you feel him press a kiss into your hair. Home is comforting.
Oh, you never want to leave.
You donât want to leave, and thatâs terrifying.
You allow yourself to stay there for one more second - one endless second - so you could commit to memory what itâs like to be with him. Back and forth. Itâs always so easy to fall into him.
Jungkook releases you when he feels you loosen after a while, and you reluctantly meet his eyes as he tilts your head to face him. His fingers cradling your jaw, how warm and delicate they feel on your skin.
You swallow thickly, your mind going blank. Heâs the only person you see, the only one that matters. His eyes flicker south, and even then you donât make any move to run away, despite his loose grip on your waist telling you that you can if you want to.
You told him that it would pass, and maybe for him, it will. For him, itâs the city and the moment, making him feel like heâs caught up in a page that heâs turned over a long time ago. He was fine with leaving, and heâs been fine without you. It will pass for him, as much as it hurts you to admit it.
But not for you. For you, thereâs only him. Thereâs nobody else but him. Itâs always been him, no matter how hard you try to tell yourself that there will be another person you can love as much as you love Jungkook. You might only be a page, perhaps even a chapter, in the story of his life, but heâs your entire book. Heâs volume after volume after volume, until he takes up the whole shelf and leaves no room for anything else, not even for yourself.
And now here he is - at the biggest turn in your career.
Heâs a bad blood cell you canât ever get rid of.
Youâll never be able to truly let go of him. How could you? When you truly love someone, those feelings will carry on forever. Theyâll always have a piece of your heart despite an ending. When you look back on a certain period in your life, youâll think to yourself, Youâll always be a part of me. I loved you then.
But Jungkook is a force of nature. He has your whole heart.
Years and years from now, when you look back on your life, you know youâll see him everywhere. Even when youâre old and gray, and when faces all just blur together in a mosaic of broken memories and long lost youth, you know youâll still remember him - the person you loved, the one whom you let slip through your fingers. The great love of your life when you were young.
Sometimes, you regret that day. You canât help feeling like it was your fault too. Maybe you shouldâve tried harder to keep him. You shouldâve fought harder, shouldâve held onto him instead of standing there and watching him leave.
He lit the match, and you let the house burn. It takes two to tango, two to break a heart.
Youâre quick to let people leave. Oh, how you wish it could be that easy to let them go too.
It isnât until your eyes mimic the flicker of his gaze that he leans in. You meet him halfway. For the first time in years, you feel like you could breathe, truly breathe. Itâs achingly slow, like neither of you can believe that this is happening.Â
You sigh against his mouth when his tongue brushes your bottom lip, slips past the seal to devour you. It feels like a perfect dream. You could stay in this bubble with him forever, pretend that youâre the only two people who exist in the world and thereâs nothing else, no one else, waiting for you in a city that seems so far away right now. The thought of him never left you, not even for a second. Heâs always been with you everywhere you go, no matter what you do, always in the back of your mind.
He tastes like your youth, like remembrance. He kisses you like heâs still yours when deep down you know that youâre still his. The hand on your jaw is gentle but firm, and it makes you repeat a thought, I miss you.
Then a feeling, I love you.
Not then. Now.
I love you now.
I love you even when I shouldnât. Even when it hurts. Even when you leave me. Even when you donât love me more than I love you. If there comes a day where you love somebody else, I will still love you then. There will never be another person for me but you. My first and only love.
When he pulls away, you think itâs too quick, even though your lungs are grateful for the breath that you instantly inhale. You stare at his lips like youâre in a daze, mesmerized, wanting to chase them again. You donât even know how you have it in yourself to utter these next words, but you hear your own voice saying them anyway.
Youâre holding onto him now. Doesnât that count?
âLetâsâŠâ Your fingers tighten on the collar of his dress shirt. âLetâs go up to your room.â

Can we have more mentor!Seb x Ferrari driver!reader? Maybe she wins in Monza the same season as the last fic? đ
note: sorry it took me so long to get to this request, life has been KILLING me lately. this one is pretty short but hopefully you enjoy!
FOCUS.
part one here but can be read without <3
pairing: (mentor! sebastian vettel x ferrari driver! reader) (mick schumacher x ferrari driver! reader AT THE END)
summary: monza was never an easy race, and that certainly wasnt changing anytime soon. but maybe some luck is on your side this yearâ and a supportive mentor.
content warning: none besides my verb tenses being all over the place
Max had gotten pole. So not good for you.
You lost P2 as well to Lewis by two-tenths of a second, but P3 was fine, P3 was good. Hopefully good enough for today. It was finally Sunday, and you couldnât be more excitedâ it was finally Monza.
âWell the goal is to win,â you say, although it comes out muffled with food in your mouth. Sebastian had invited you to paddock brunch on race day, and you were not one to turn down free food.
Swallowing, you add, âI mean obviously the goal is to win. Weâre in Monza, thatâs every Ferrari driver's goal.â
The Aston Martin driver had been listening intently to your complaints about Ferrariâs performance recently, and from what heâs hearing, itâs not looking good. Not only was the car lacking in pace, the team itself had bad strategies left and right. While you had gotten a podium back in Spa, it was starting to look like it'd be the last podium for Ferrari for a while.
Charles had DNFâed last race, and you ended up P9. Not a great result, but it still kept you third in the Construction Championship. This race, however, was too special to have a mediocre result.
It was the home of the Tifosi; the people, the cheers, the chants, it was all for Ferrariâ all for you. You couldnât lose in Monza.
âSo you think youâll win later then?â Sebastian asks, taking a bite of his own food.
âWell I donât donât think Iâll win, so thereâs that.â
âWhat a strange type of confidence.â
âThanks, I try.â
Sebastian laughs, a genuine one that makes you smile as well. Youâd been spending more time with him since learning about his retirement at the end of the season, which says a lot when you were already always together. He didnât mind though, he loved spending time with you above all the other people on the gridâ well, except for Mick. He tagged along sometimes when he could. You liked having him around too.
âIf it amounts to anything, I think you can win it.â
He always says that. âIf it amounts to anythingâ or âIf it matters,â as if everything he says wasnât important to you when it was. âThanks Seb, but save that optimism for yourself, you need it,â you tease.
You say it in a joking manner, but Seb knew there was a hint of seriousness to your words. Aston Martin hadnât been performing well either, and if you considered Ferrariâs performance bad, then you could call theirs atrocious. You knew it wasnât Sebâs fault, he had been trying to contribute to the efficiency of the car with his knowledge and he pushed it every race.
Nodding, he sighs, and you can sense the tiredness in his breath. 2 years of a slow car will do that to you. Before you could give him any comfort, however, a Ferrari employee calls out your name for you to get ready for the race.
âGood luck Schatzi, I believe in you,â Seb says, getting up from his seat. You get up and hug him tightly, smiling when he hugs you back just as tight.
âYou too Sebby.â
âDo what I couldnât,â you hear him whisper.
You donât reply. You donât tell him, âIâm sorry,â because he already knows. He knows because youâve told him it before many different times on many different races when he used to drive for Ferrariâ but youâll always remember Monza.
It was his dream, the most important thing he wanted out of joining Ferrari besides winning the championship with them. But he never got it. Every year he was there, something took the win out of his grasp. Engine failure, collision, slow pace, no grip, it didnât matter what the reason was. He never got it.
You separate, both going to get ready. Youâll make him proud, you think to yourself.
The race was tight. Lewis was giving you a good fight, always just less than a second away, but conveniently farther whenever you were in a DRS zone which meant you couldnât overtake him. Thankfully, he slipped up during a straight, and gave you enough slipstream and space to pass him.
Then it was just you and Max. He was 10 seconds away, and you were so sure it was over. But then he pitted a little too long, giving you enough time to take his position.
And then you were leading.
You were leading in a Ferrari in Monza.
Holy fucking shit.
Just one more lap, one more and you could see itâ you could see the end.
â...Y/N L/N SEES THE CHECKERED FLAG, AND COMES TO WIN THE ITALIAN GRAND PRIX! FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2019, FERRARI WINS IN THEIR HOME RACE!â
You couldnât believe it.
You won. You won in Monza. In a Ferrari.
You did it.
If the screams of the fans were loud in Spa, the cheers of the emotional Tifosi were deafening here. Exiting your car, still shellshocked, youâre immediately approached by Max, who gave you a quick hug in congratulations.
Slightly snapping out of your buzzed state, you run towards your crew who was on the other side of the barrier, practically jumping into their arms. They couldnât believe it either. When you finally removed your helmet, the muffled sounds of everything else suddenly became clear, and somehow the already thundering roars of the crowd had gotten louder.
Despite all that commotion, all that chaos and celebration, there was only one man you were looking for. You heard he had DNFâed, which meant he would be in his garage, but you didnât care. You were going to look for him before you got on that damn podium.
While Max and Lewis went to the cooldown room, you got ready to sneak out and go to the Aston Martin garage, when a hand grabs yours and spins you around to face them. It takes you a second to realize what was happening, but when you didâ âSEBASTIAN!â
He enveloped you in a hug, lifting you off the ground and spinning you around. You could hear his proud laughs, and you started laughing as well. You had done it.
âI ca-â
âI-â
You both start at the same time, making you both laugh even harder. You gesture for him to start first, and he does. âI canât believe it. You actually fucking did it,â he says, the joy evident in his cussing.
He walks with you back towards the Podium, an arm around your shoulder looking proud. When you get to the side stage you pause in protest, but he reads your mind before you can say anything. âGo, weâll talk later.â He gives you a little nudge, and off to the platform you go.
You asked Charles once, and he told you that when you get up there on the platform, everything goes quiet. You would see the crowd, the fans clad in red, and you would feel the love, but you wouldnât hear itâ as if all their cheers mixed together into a large vast silence. One thing would come into focus, and when you see what youâve focused on, itâll all make sense. For him, it was a man wearing a shirt with the number 17 on it. In the large mobs, it was the one thing his eyes had focused on.
For you, however, it wasnât in the crowd. It wasnât in the endless support of the Tifosi, nor the trophy given to you. No, it was in the man you could see in your peripheral vision, standing on the side, clapping proudly and looking at you as if no one else was on the podium.
Sebastian. It was him. Your mentor, your father figure, your friend. You finally understood what Charles was always rambling about. That loving feelingâ not one you feel with a romantic partner, but the one that buries itself deep into your soul and grows over time, unseen and unnoticed, but when you finally focus on it, everything makes sense.
The second the podium festivities ended, you ran into Sebastianâs arms and hugged him tightly, not minding the cameras all around you. He didnât understand what was happening, but he hugged you back, not letting you go.
Tomorrowâ not today while the chaos of the fans was still ongoingâ the media will spew rumors about you and the older driver, but you donât care. Not when youâre finally happy here; content.
With content tears flowing freely down your faceâ along with some champagne from earlierâ you finally disconnected from the hug, looking at Sebastian with a grin.
He looked confused, âWhatâs happening? Are you alright? Is everything okay?â
Shaking your head with a laugh, you reply, âItâs fine, everythings okay. I justâ I canât believe I did it. And with you watching. I couldnât be happier.â
Sebastian takes a moment to intake what you said. He had never felt this way before. Never felt so utterly proud of someone. You had done what he never could, had finally achieved the Ferrari dream he had always wanted for himself. He could see himself in you now, the sheer joy of a win with a team he always wanted to win with. He couldnât be more happy for you too.
âSebastian?â you ask, worried about his silence. Maybe what you said was too much, too forward. But then he smiles softly at you, and you can see the tears welling in his eyes.
âYou have no idea how proud I am of you.â
You breathe a sigh of relief, âOh thank god, I thought you were thinking of scowling in disgust or worse; not hearing what I said and making me repeat it.â
He laughs, a hearty one, and you laugh as well. The roar of the crowd was still loud, but amidst all the chaos, your eyes still only focused on one person.
âDinner?â he asks softly.
âYeah, letâs get dinner.â
a bit of bonus for my mick girls out there:
âY/N!â you hear a voice shout from across the paddock. It catches your attention, and you turn your head to the Mercedes hospitality where the voice came from. Sebastian is beside you, an arm around your shoulder, accompanying you for a post-race dinner.
âMick! Whatâs up?â you ask, disconnecting from Sebastianâs hold to walk towards him. He meets you in the middle, giving you a quick hug before smiling.
âI just wanted to congratulate you on your win. We should celebrate!â he says, pausing for a moment as if thinking how to word his next sentence. âI was thinkingâ just a random thought reallyâ we couldâŠgo out to dinner to celebrate? I mean just throwing ideas out there, you donât have to.â
Heâs looking everywhere but at you at this point, his eyes pointed down at his shoes and you can see his hands fiddling in his pockets. You notice Toto Wolff watching from the hospitality, but you pay no attention to him, instead keeping your eyes on the man in front of you.
âIâm sorry Mick I would love to, but Iâm actually going out to dinner with Sebaââ
âHe can come,â Sebastian butts in. âHe can join us, I have no problem with it.â
âOh, then great!â you exclaim, nudging Mick softly. He looks up at you with a slight red dusting on his cheeks you donât notice. Oblivious, you intertwine your arm with his, walking with Seb tailing the both of you.
You ramble on about the race to him and donât notice when he turns his head around to face Sebastian quickly, who was giving Mick two thumbs up with a cheeky grin. The younger driver blushes softly, before going back to facing you and listening to you talk.
Unbeknownst to the both of you, however, the older driver was already secretly thinking of an excuse to get the two of you alone at dinner.

it's a part of the loooong message sent to me by @rougegenshin with the ideas for Reader x Buck x Bucky đ I chose this one out of a few she sent me (thank you so much, sweetheart! đ). I'm usually not into poly but I have a tiiiiiny experience with writing for relationships like that so I promised to give it a try đ it's not a full smut because I chickened out in the end đ€Ł
đ THIS FIC IS 18+ đ
Gale didnât like to dance. You were sitting with his arm around you and watched Bucky dancing with a friend you had brought for him to meet. He was with her but his eyes lingered on you all the time.
You didnât know why you felt this way. You loved Gale Cleven, you would die for him, in fact. And your whole life you had been thinking you were a one manâs woman. But now, when you were in an actual relationship with a man of every womanâs dreams⊠You were jealous to watch his best friend dancing with another woman.
Bucky was into you, it was obvious. In a way he would always stare at you with puppy eyes, tease you with his comments that were making Gale roll his eyes. There were also things that he was doing that your boyfriend did not know about â the way Bucky would stare at your chest and bite his lip, the way he would touch your hand in the dark sometimes and you allowed him. Last few months â throughout your whole relationship with Gale Cleven â Buckyâs attention was focused on you. And now he was dancing with another woman and he might have been staring at you but you hated that his hands were on her hips and that it was her being so close to him.
âEverything alright?â Galeâs deep voice made you blink a few times and look at his face. God, he was so perfect. Why couldnât you just be loyal like other women were?
Was it possible that you were one of the harlots? All your life you had been thinking you were a good girl; nothing special, born to become some nice manâs housewife. And now you felt like a jezebel.
You cupped Galeâs face, driven by guilt.
âIâm just worried about him. Heâs leaving tomorrow,â you confessed in a whisper and Gale shook his head with a chuckle. âHeâs your best friend and mine, too, now. Heâs everywhere we go. You canât expect me not to care about him.â
âIâm glad that you care about him,â Gale held your wrist and caressed it before placing a soft kiss upon it. He was so innocent, he had no idea about the nature of your feelings towards his friend.
âI just wanted to explain⊠I know that some men would be jealous,â you took a breath deep in.
âIâm not jealous,â he assured you but he looked deep into your eyes in a way that made a knot form in your stomach.
He didnât look angry but there was some suspicion and curiosity in his beautiful blue eyes.
âCan I dance with your girl now?â Bucky interrupted you with a smile.
You were scared to dance with him in public. You were terrified of your body language revealing a little too much. Those things were not easy to control.
âIn fact, we are leaving. Itâs getting late and I have to walk my girl home,â Gale answered and you sighed with relief. âYou have fun, Bucky, itâs your last night,â he stood up and you followed.
Your friend walked away to buy a drink so you were left alone with the two men.
âAre you going to stay at (Y/N)âs place for the night?â Bucky lowered his voice.
âYes,â Gale answered with a nod.
âCan I join you later?â Bucky asked and your heart started to pound in your chest as you took Galeâs hand to squeeze it. âFor the one last drink,â Bucky added.
âI donât mind,â Gale told him and then he laid his eyes on you.
âSure, Bucky, come by!â You smiled at him and he winked at you. âThrow a stone at my window so I know itâs you.â
âSee you later then,â he patted Galeâs arm. âDonât start without me,â he teased and you felt your cheeks heating up.
Gale only shook his head with an embarrassed chuckle and he walked you out of the bar to walk you to your place.
You were renting a room in an old house and your landlady only rented it to women. In fact, she didnât want any male visitors at all â even by day. But she left the town for a week now because of her sisterâs illness. Nearly all your flatmates were taking full advantage of this temporary situation.
You went upstairs and opened the door to your room quietly, letting Gale inside and then closing the door behind you. He took his cap off and put it on the armchair before sitting down on the couch and you put some jazz music on quietly and lit a few candles. With a soft smile you sat on your boyfriendâs lap and put your arms around his neck.
âI love you,â you assured him with a thought of Bucky still in the back of your head. You wanted to shake it off.
âI love you, too, angel,â he pulled you even closer and gave you an open mouth devouring kiss that made you breathless. You tugged on his golden hair and moaned into his mouth.
âGale,â you giggled and he raised an eyebrow at you. âDonât start anything now, we donât know when Bucky might come,â you whispered.
âDo you think I donât know how youâre looking at him?â He asked, suddenly and you froze as your heart pounded in your chest.
âWh-what are you talking about?â You stuttered out. âGale, I love youâŠâ
âI know you do, sweetheart,â Gale nodded. âI havenât said anything about it.â
âThen what do you mean?â You batted your eyelashes.
âI mean that Iâm so close with John that I donât mind sharing with him,â Galeâs face was serious and your jaw dropped at his words.
âI thought you were a conservative man, Gale Cleven,â you furrowed your brow.
âI thought that, too. But I see how heâs looking at you and I see how youâre looking at him. And all I want is for both of you to be happy,â Galeâs hands started to caress your thighs and arm with his fingertips, causing the shivers go down your spine. âYouâre two people I love the most and I want nothing but your happiness.â
âAnd what about you?â You asked.
âWell, itâs not like youâre going to leave me for him, is it?â He chuckled but there was a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
âOh, no! No, no, of course not!â You shook your head.
âThen your happiness wonât cost me my own,â Gale pointed out when a wild thought appeared in your mind.
âYou love him, too, donât you?â You bit on your lower lip. Gale blushed and looked around, uncomfortably avoiding your eyes. âOh⊠Yes, you do,â you chuckled at him. âI donât mind sharing you either⊠only if itâs with Bucky,â you assured him and caressed his cheek.
He looked up, surprised, but before he could answer, a stone hit your window softly.
You left Galeâs lap and took the key to leave your room and walk downstairs and let Bucky in.
âYouâre quick,â you told him.
âI was impatient and your friend was a bore,â he shrugged his arms. You shushed him by putting a finger over your mouth and you led him upstairs.
When he walked inside your room, you locked the door behind him and put the key away. Gale was sitting on the couch with his legs spread open in a lazy manner, watching you two with a shadow of a smirk. He nodded at you and you took a deep breath in before grabbing Buckyâs face almost aggressively and joining your lips together. He was petrified out of shock at first and did not react but then he pulled you closer with a smile. His moustache tickled your upper lip and made you chuckle.
âWhat the hellâŠ?â He breathed out when you broke the kiss. âBuck, you okay with that?â He turned around to look at his friend.
âItâs your last night, Major Egan. Enjoy,â Gale nodded.
âAnd what about you?â
âI will watch,â your boyfriend assured you but you felt bad for him. He deserved his fun, too. He was such a good man, willing to share you like that. So understandingâŠ
âI can make you both happy,â you offered with a shy smile.
After a short moment of hesitation, they both agreed. You pushed Bucky to sit down on the couch next to Gale. Your heart was pounding as fast as never before when you realised what you were about to do. This night would never be undone, it would forever stay in your memory and it could possibly ruin everything between Gale and you â and between him and his best friend. But it could also make everything even better. And you didnât want to regret not trying.
To the rhythm of a soft jazz song playing in the background, you began unbuttoning your dress as you stood in front of them. The movements of your fingers were slow, you let the fabric slide down your body at its own pace, revealing your bra, panties and stockings kept in place by a garter belt. You had planned tonight to be special for your boyfriend so you had made sure to doll yourself up earlier. You hadnât expected tonight to take such a wild turn.
Your cheeks were hot to the touch but your boysâ faces were in a light shade of pink as well. Both a little shy and excited about the show you were giving them. Buckyâs mouth opened slightly and Gale was looking you up and down as if you were a snack on a plate placed in front of him.
Instead of immediately reaching up to your braâs clasp to undo it, you allowed your hands to roam freely all around your body, caressing the curves that Gale loved to explore and kiss all over, hoping that Bucky would enjoy them, too.
âCome âere, baby,â your boyfriend beckoned you over, his voice darker than usual. You walked up to him and sat astride him, letting his big, slim hands be the ones to undo the clasp of your bra.
You threw it away and Bucky gasped at the sight he had craved to see for the past few months. You gave Gale a big, loving kiss, before moving onto his friendâs lap and kissing him, too, as his hands grabbed both of your breasts to squeeze them. Bucky moaned into your mouth and you smiled.
âYouâre gonna be the death of me, sweetheart,â he whispered when you broke the kiss. It turned you on how he was staring at you, like you were a piece of art, a goddess to worship.
âBetter not,â you teased him, âbecause I need both of my Majors to come back to me.â

A wholsome request drabble of zombie! re2 leon x human! Readerđ something similar to the movie warm bodies kashakjssj
OKOK, finished the movie. Decently fresh in my mind, and nglâloved itttt! It was so cute! If you need something a little honest/goofy to watch, GO WATCH IT!
And since we all know with how we've seen Leon... Dumbass can't drive! So, why not teach the zombie version of him how to drive? đ„°PLUS A LITTLE DANCE? I can'ttttt.
· · ââââââ ·đ„žÂ· ââââââ · ·
Zombie RE2! Leon with Human! Reader!
· · ââââââ ·đ„žÂ· ââââââ · ·
Nearly 12 hours went by, huddled up in an airplane seat with a flimsy blanket. Protecting you from the invading stare of the zombie that killed your boyfriend. A few days, he said, till you could return home. With those twelve hours, you learned a lot. One of the things you learned is: Don't let L drive.
· · ââââââ ·đ„žÂ· ââââââ · ·
Sure, you only asked what you could do to pass the days. Sure, you didn't expect to be racing around the planeâs runway. Again, sure, you didn't expect to be told âItâs not safe.â multiple times. This, though? Fun! Who knew being pulled alongside a zombie who ate your boyfriend and stole his memories hid this?
Hands-on the steering wheel and screaming at the top of your lungs. Should've shut up, honestly, you'd attract more of LâHis friends, family, whatever they were.
He seemed content staring at you for a few seconds, then at the window. Leaning to the side as he glanced towards you. Mouth agape slightly as you met his gaze. A forced, nervous smile on your face as you asked,
âWould you like to try, L? Youâre kinda staring, yâknow?â
He seemed to take note, glancing away. Did zombies get embarrassed? Could've sworn he blushed a little. It surprised you he could say a few words, anyway. Gently, you elbowed him. A grunt came from his lips as you proceeded to speak once more.
âYou know you want to⊠Câmon.â
· · ââââââ ·đ„žÂ· ââââââ · ·
With each squeak of wheels suddenly stopping to jerk you forward, you couldnât help but crack a smile. Driving didnât seem like Lâs strong suit. Never thought youâd teach a zombie how to drive.
âYou choose a foot.â You stated, now leaning towards him. Feels clichĂ© to a degree, like the movies with the endings. Kissing in the sunset like right now if you could. Zombie kissing wasnât on your to-do list. Mmmmm, maybe, but just the cheek.
Leon paused, his hands tightening on the steering wheel. Pondering your statement as he shifted a little. Before the car began flying forward with you yelping. Your yelping turns into a laugh of joy when the car picks up speed.
He seems proud of himselfâyouâre proud of him, too. Cute little guy, he was, with that baby face. Aside from the veins running up his face and discolored skin, you could see yourself giving a small kiss. Proud like a parent whose kid just rode a bike without training wheels.
The zombie looked over at you, half of his face twitching into a smile. His hand slipped off the steering well as he continued to stare at you. Leaning in close, he seemed to say with his eyes, âAre you impressed, yet?â
Sure, buddy, sure.
Sure as hell was impressed when he proceeded to crash the car.
The one time you donât drive is the one time you proceed to crash. The poor car now has a dent in the hood. Impressing a lady was nice, L, real nice.Â
âThis was a nice car!â
You groaned, rubbing your face. Head smacked against the headrest as you laughed. This was stupid, you were stupid, everything was stupid! L seemed just fine sitting there, staring at you. Get him brown contacts, pleaseâŠ
âAt least you didnât crash, well, not literally. Nice job for a first-time driving, superstar.â
You smirked, leaning over to give his cheek a small kiss. The zombieâs eyes widened, seemingly staring into space. His inner monologue was screaming.
âLetâs not do this again, yeah?â
· · ââââââ ·đ„žÂ· ââââââ · ·
Getting back to the airplane was easier said than done. Swinging your arms, welcoming back the HHH, as you called it; Hoarderâs Hobbit Hole. Bobbles and Trinkets⊠Why was the Lucky Charms theme playing in your head? Pfft, wish you could've eaten some before this shitshow.
Filing through Lâs small collection of vinyl. Surprised this still existed in a world like this. Legs loosely crisscrossed as you stifled through.
âSo, you donât know how to use an iPod, huh?â
You glanced over your shoulder at him, waving one of the vinyl in your hand.
âWhy? Too complicated?â
Leon grumbled, fixing his hoodie so heâd look slightly more presentable. He already liked you that way. Meeting eyes while you shotgunned his group down. Surely love at first sight, yeah? He shook off his small daze, before gesticulating with his hands. A small circle with his finger as he responded verbally.
âS-soundâŠâ He paused, stuttering more, âMore a-alive.â
That sounds like an excuse to you.
âTrue, but much more trouble.â You chuckled, before finally settling on one of the vinyls.
Bruce Springsteen â Hungry Heart
Now standing up and gently pressing the record into the player. Gently pressing the needle onto the grooves as the music came to life. Letting one finally relax as you stood up, already in somewhat of a zone as you did a small twirl. Pulling the poor zombie into a small jig.
Gently holding his hands as you stood in place. Shoulders moving with a dopey smile on your face. Moving your head as you gently tugged him.
Leon could get used to this, he wished you didn't have to leave. Seeing you laugh, yell, the kiss on his cheek, your smell, anything. Almost like he felt alive again with you. Most of that thought went by as you attempted to dance with him. A little stumble, stiff movement, and the choked-out words of the zombie.
He felt slightly alive again. Leon felt alive with you.

hi i love ur subby jk works so much :3 do you think you could write a roommates au with sub jk? i would love if he is needy and trying to hide how much oc effects him. maybe he could secretly touch himself when they are watching a movie and trying not to make noise. whatever you want to write with subby kook would be amazing honestly. sorry if this is too much :(
Of course, I can! This is a great idea, a filthy one I would even say đ Nothing's too much when it comes to our dearly baby boy đ«¶đ» Thank you so much for reading my stories lovely!! đ xox
Movie Night
You procure Jungkook a lot of pleasure without even knowing it. He tries to be subtle about it, hold in his desires, but one night he just can't help it.
pairing: sub!jungkook x dom/fem!reader
genre: roommates au, smut
word count: 1.5k
warnings: reader acts disgusted but don't worry she's very blessed by jk's cock, jk's a pervert sorry not sorry, humiliation, masturbation (m), exhibitionism.
a.n.: it's really a focus on jk, but i love subby jk playing with himself too much. it's so short, but i have to shorten the requests if i want them done - it's still good anyway đ
At the beginning, Jungkook was living alone. The other room in his apartment was for rent, but nobody seemed to want to live there. He wasn't expecting to have a roommate anytime soon, until you.
He didn't think so much about who would be his roommate, whether it'd be a guy or a girl. He's shy around women his age, but that isn't an obstacle at being friends with them, except for you. He sometimes wonders if he's wrong for having the fattest crush on you, his girl roommate. Kinda cliché, but can he really control his feelings when everything you do is affecting him?
It's not like you were walking around in nothing but your panties and a t-shirt. Not like you were moaning at one in the morning, touching yourself, acting like Jungkook couldn't hear a thing. He could very much, and his cock too. You know that he knows, he's sure of it.
How you send him a glare the next day when you quit your room to go to the kitchen, how you don't bother to hide your sex toy in a drawer, leaving it on your bed with your door wide open. You're smart, there's no way this isn't intentional.
Though, Jungkook is way more secretive than you when it comes to masturbation. Maybe because you probably don't think of him when you do as he imagines you when he does. Or because he would be so ashamed if you happened to hear a suspect sound coming from his room, resembling too much of a moan.
Everything he does, he keeps a secret. He tries to, at least. One time, he stole one of your panties. It wasn't really smart of him because you would eventually find out that one of your underwear is missing, and it's exactly what happened. You asked him if he saw them, he said no, then you described them to him - black lace panties with red roses on them.
They were literally under his pillow right now, for him to stroke his cock with. His face turned red, and he swore you understood why. Nonetheless, you went on with your day, telling him you would see them again. And you did because Jungkook did a quick laundry, cleaned them and placed them neatly in your underwear's drawer.
Since the panties incident, he told himself he would stop - or at least be more careful. He did not.
He was craving intimacy so bad one night. His boner was so painful, his cock had never been this hard before. He wanted you, he needed you, but he couldn't have you. What would he have said anyway? 'Please, jerk me off'? Or 'I beg you to fuck me, I can't stop thinking about you'?
Imaginary scenes weren't enough anymore, so he proceeded to open Instagram and search for your profile. He knows you are the kind to post bikini pics. He chose his favourite where you were laying down beside the edge of a pool, all wet from the water in a hot pink bathing suit. Your boobs were barely covered by small triangles, your bikini bottom held by little bows on each side of your hips.
He jerked himself to you, his hand going up and down so fast on his dick, the skin of his palm slapping against his pelvis. In the heat of the moment, he accidentally liked your Instagram post. What a shame.
He unliked it, but you received the notification anyway. You probably thought he was a pervert, your roommate ogling at your bikini pics like you were a piece of meat. This isn't far from the truth, but Jungkook isn't like that.
You said nothing about it and didn't change your attitude toward him. Maybe you never knew or you just didn't address it. Either way, he's thankful because he wouldn't have handled the awkwardness of the situation.
Now, he isn't really focusing on the movie that you are watching together. On the other hand, you seem to be deep into it, eyes stuck to the TV screen.
Remember when he said he would be more careful? Well, it looks like he totally lied. The thing is that you have a grip on him, somehow. Jungkook isn't the most experimented in sex, but still, he isn't a deprived virgin. Normally, he isn't, because the bulge in his sweatpants totally betrays him right now.
Your flimsy tank-top - the straps doing a bad job at staying on your shoulders - is distracting him from whatever's going on in the movie. Your sleep shorts are showing off your meaty thighs, your skin looks so soft and Jungkook wants to bite into it. Just a little taste so he can sleep with his mind free of any thoughts tonight.
He knows he shouldn't, but his cock is so painful right now. It's engorged with blood and there's only one solution to his problem... So he slowly sneaks a hand in his sweatpants, going under the band of his underwear. He'll just palm it, nothing else, he swears. He just needs some friction against his dick, there's nothing wrong with that.
His fingers wrap around his hardness, stroking it gently, feeling the beads of pre-cum falling from his tip. It stains his briefs, a small wet spot appearing on the material. He doesn't care, too obsessed with the way your tongue comes to lick your lips and how your tits stand out with your arms crossed over your chest.
His face heats up and his cheeks become all red, his breath accelerating as well. His palm grips his cock tightly, squeezing it softly as if it was your pussy contracting around him. He exhales shakily, biting down on his small pink lip to refrain himself from moaning out.
It would be incredible to have you sit on him, see his dick disappear into your tight cunt, filling you up real good the way you deserve it. "Shit..." He curses under his breath and you luckily don't hear him, the sound of the TV too loud to catch his quiet whines.
His hand shifts up and down in his boxers, and if you would just turn your head around toward him, you would discover the little secret he's trying to hide from you. He's not very subtle, even though he thinks he is.
His cock is throbbing at all the dirty thoughts he has about you, it's really hard for him to not get rid of his pants right now and fucks his fist in front of you. He likes to believe you would watch him masturbate, dripping wet from the sight of him jerking off. Maybe you would even help him, it would be ten times better.
He smears his pre-cum all over his mushroom head and his hand slides so smoothly on his cock. You make him so needy it's practically impossible to believe you have this effect on him, but seeing him pumping his penis beside you in secret totally proves it.
He twists his wrist as he focuses on stroking his tip that is out of his underwear, the other half of his cock trapped in his sweatpants. He hisses slightly from the sensitivity of it, all red and sticky from his arousal. He feels the knot in his tummy tightening and he scrunches his eyes shut, his mouth hanging open.
His abs flex under his black t-shirt and he thinks it's the moment where he'll cum all over himself right beside you, oblivious to him playing with his cock until orgasm. Is it really, though?
He fucks his fist faster, lifting his hips up to meet his hand in a hard thrust. He could cum right now, he feels it, he's so close, but before he can, he stops all of his movements.
"Jungkook."
His eyes open in shock, meeting yours, being caught red-handed. He regrets it now, he fucked up, he fucked it all.
He can't control himself, though. Not anymore, not like that, not with your eyes on his cock. Damn it.
His erection twitches in his hand and then his hips jut forward involuntary, fucking the air like it's your pussy. He wishes he could go back in time and listens to himself about being careful, but for some reason his dick likes it and he can't do anything about it other than raise his hips up again.
"Fu-uck! N-No..." He cries as your gaze stays on him, watching him come undone before you. "A-ah..." His voice breaks into a whiny moan and his eyebrows furrow, his body reacting to the pleasure despite his little cries of complaints.
Without even touching his dick, he cums on his stomach as he fucks the air one more time. Long strands of white cum land on his t-shirt, stained forever with his shame. His thighs shake, his muscles contracting from the intensity of his orgasm.
He shoots the last bits of cum on himself, making a mess everywhere. He looks at you totally freaked out and he wants to cry when he notices the frown on your face.
"You're so dirty, Jungkook." You shake your head in disappointment and roll your eyes, standing up from the couch and leaving the living room.
Jungkook is left there alone, covered in his cum and sweat. Poor baby boy, he should've been more careful.

âââââââ
June 2nd, 2002. Austin, Texas.
ââââââ
Joel and Y/n had gone out for three weeks, equaling a total five dates. Between their respective work schedules and Joel being a parent, they had to get creative if they wanted to see each other. Theyâd meet on their lunch breaks or, if they were too busy, Joel would stop by the hardware store in dire need of help finding something and only Y/n could possibly help him. It gave them a good twenty minutes or so to wander the aisles together.
On a particularly slow Tuesday afternoon, Y/n was doing inventory. Joel and her had made plans to grab coffee on his way home and she was counting down the hours till he came through the door.
A small voice broke her out of her daydreams, âExcuse me?â
Y/n turned and met the face of a girl, no older than maybe thirteen. She had dark skin and a head full of curls pulled back with a scrunchie. She looked slightly out of breath, but determined.
âHow can I help you?â Y/n asked curiously.
âAre you Y/n?â
She confusedly furrowed her brows, âYeahâŠâ
The girl huffed with a grin, âOkay, good. I asked, like, three other people where you were and they had no idea.â
Y/n awkwardly smiled along with her, âC-can I ask how you know my name?â
âOh,â the girl snapped back to the current conversation, âIâm Sarah.â
âSarahâŠâ Y/n repeated, wracking her mental index of high school friendâs kids, before it hit her. Her eyes widened, âWaitâŠSarahâŠMiller?â
She nodded, âYeah.â
Y/nâs body locked up, to say she was surprised was an understatement. Joel had told her that he wanted to wait a while before introducing her to Sarah. He hadnât had a serious girlfriend since Sarahâs mom and was trying to figure out the best way for them to meet. Y/n hadnât taken any offense, sheâd supported it, actually. Sheâd never dated anyone with a kid and she wanted to do everything as close to perfect as she could.
âD-does your-â Y/n braced herself against her inventory cart, âDoes your dad know youâre here?â
Sarahâs mouth twisted, âNot exactly.â
âUh-huh,â Y/n replied, suspicious, âAnd not exactly meansâŠ?â
âNot at all,â Sarah nervously smiled.
Y/n gathered the little oxygen left in her body and laughed. âHow did you get down here if youâre by yourself?â
Sarah shrugged, âI took the bus.â
âAh,â Y/n nodded, âAnd you ride the bus alone without your dadâs permission a lot?â
The girl gave a guilty smile and balanced on the heels of her Converse. It was all the answer Y/n needed.
âSo, why are you here?â Y/n asked, feeling like she was doing something wrong.
Sarah sighed, âI got tired of waiting for my dad to introduce me to you. Iâve asked him, like, ten times and he keeps saying no. I knew you worked here soâŠI figured this was the only way I could meet you.â
Y/n couldnât help but be a little touched, and also terrified. She was more nervous about impressing Sarah than she had been Joel.
âI mean,â Y/n rubbed her forehead, âYeah, I knew your dad was waiting to introduce us butâŠI didnât realize his daughter was a secret mastermind.â
âOh, you have no idea,â Sarah smiled, resting a hand on Y/nâs cart, âSoâŠyouâre dating my dad.â
Y/n nodded, âSeems that way, yeah.â
âWell, he really likes you,â Sarah replied, âLike, really likes you. Heâs in a way better mood than usual.â
âIs he now?â Y/n inquired.
âHeâs smiling all the time, heâs cooking,â Sarahâs face turned serious, âWhich never happens âcause he kinda sucks at it. Heâs even singing.â
Y/n raised an eyebrow, âSinging?â
Sarah nodded, âUh-huh. Just under his breath, but stillâŠâ
Y/n was trying hard to restrain her grin, but Sarah was making it difficult. It was nice to know Joel was as uplifted by their short time together as she was. Sheâd practically been floating down the aisles.
âHeâs just never this happy andâŠâ Sarah shrugged one arm, âI really wanted to meet whoever was responsible.â
âWell,â Y/n smiled, âYour dadâs pretty great. And he loves you, never stops talking about how well youâre doing in school and in soccerâŠâ
Sarahâs posture visibly improved upon hearing the compliments.
âLook, my dadâs never going to work up the nerve to let us all hang out together,â Sarah began to explain, âBut the county fairâs on Friday night, me, him and Uncle Tommy are gonna go and it would be really fun if you came.â
Y/n inhaled deeply, a family outing. Was she ready for that? Were her and Joel at that point?
âI donât know, Sarah,â she hesitate, âI should really talk to your dad first.â
âNo,â Sarah urged, taking hold of one of Y/nâs hands, âHeâll just get all squirmy and frown and say that itâs not time yet.â
Y/n thought for a second, âHe does frown a lot.â
âA lot,â Sarah chortled, Y/n joining in soon after, âJust think about it. Please?â
Y/n was between a rock and a hard place, or rather, the guy she was dating and his crafty daughter. She wanted Sarah to like her and they were already a step in the right direction. She didnât want to blow it.
âOkay,â she relented, âIâll think about it.â
âYes,â Sarah cheered under her breath, still holding onto Y/nâs hand. âI gotta go, the bus is gonna be back any minute.â
As she moved to go, Y/n took a step forward. âI-I really donât like the thought of you on the bus by yourself,â she objected, âWhy donât I drive you?â
âBut youâre working,â Sarah replied.
Y/n gestured to the empty space around them. âI think theyâll survive without me for twenty minutes.â
Sarah gave a small smile, she was getting to spend more time with the woman she had a million questions about. Sneaking around had paid off substantially.
âCome on,â Y/n removed her apron, draped it across her cart and pulled her keys from her pocket, âYou can tell me what your dadâs been singing on the way.â
The two girls headed out of the store, giggling to themselves as Sarah did an impression of her father humming old country tunes to himself while washing dishes.
âââââââââ
Later that afternoon, Joel arrived to pick Y/n up for their quick coffee. When he arrived, she was nowhere to be found. After asking around, and finding out she had stepped out momentarily, he decided to wait at the empty checkout line for her.
Y/n walked back into the store with a new spring in her step. Sarah had not only spilled a lot of dirt on Joel, but she had talked about herself a lot. Y/n felt like sheâd already been able to make a connection.
Joel spotted her before she did him, waving a little to catch her eye.
âHey,â Y/n greeted, apprehension taking over.
âHey,â Joel replied, his smiling fading the closer he got, âWhatâs that look?â
âWhat look?â Y/n asked, unaware of how nervous she appeared.
âYou look like a kid with their hand caught in the cookie jar,â Joel smirked, taking her hand lightly into his, âWhatâs going on?â
Y/n sighed, sheâd been trying to figure out how to broach the subject of Sarah all the way back to the store. Joelâs gentle touch was only heightening her nerves. âWhy donât I drive us to coffee?â
Joel squinted in confusion, âOkayâŠâ
The two of them drove off in Y/nâs old Toyota, but she waited until they had their drinks in hand and were walking down the main street to start talking.
âSo Sarah came by today,â she blurted out.
Joel nearly choked on the sip heâd been taking, âMy Sarah?â
âUh-huh,â Y/n nodded, anxiously holding the cup close to her chest.
âH-howâd she get down the-â Joel began to ask before pressing his lips together and shutting his eyes, âShe took the bus, didnât she?â
âYep,â Y/n answered.
Joel sighed, he was already starting to find grey hairs across his head. Sarah was going to turn the whole thing silver before she was 16.
âShe said she was tired of waiting for you to introduce us so she was going to do it herself,â Y/n retold the story.
âYeah, sounds like herâŠâ Joel replied with a loud sigh, âLook, I know you wanted to meet her-â
âYeah, but I was perfectly fine with waiting,â Y/n was quick to say, âYou said you wanted to do this the right way.â
âYeah, well, the right way was decided for us,â Joel sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. âSo whatâd you two talk about?â
Y/n smirked over her coffee cup, details of the conversation still fresh in her mind. âGirl stuff,â she answered, quickly taking a drink.
âWhy donât I believe you?â Joel asked with an eyebrow cocked.
âShe, uh, she invited me to the fair this weekend,â Y/n changed topics, âWith you guys.â
âAh,â Joel nodded, he didnât know whether or not to thank Sarah for speeding his relationship up. Lord knows, he was too nervous to do it.
Y/n held a hand up to Joel, âBut I didnât give her an answer. I wanted to talk to you first.â
With the obstacle of Sarahâs approval out of the way, there was nothing to stop him from saying yes. And he didnât want there to be, he was just used to using excessive caution around his family that anything else felt unnatural.Â
âYou should come,â Joel answered, turning to Y/n with a shy smile.
Y/n inched back a little, placing her hand on Joelâs arm, âAre you sure? Joel, I donât want to insert myself anywhere.â
âHow can you insert yourself somewhere you were invited?â Joel replied, settling his hand over Y/nâs, âCome.â
Taking a deep breath, Y/n knew that this was a big step for them. Joelâs daughter was his world, and Y/n was being given the privilege of being a part of it.
She blew out her cheeks, âOkay.â
Joelâs smile was earnest, rubbing his thumb over the back of Y/nâs hand.Â
âIf all goes well, I wonât have to hide you so much,â he said.
âYeah, I donât think youâre doing that great a job,â Y/n chuckled at Joelâs confusion, âJohnny Cash?â
Joelâs face turned sour, âCanât believe she told you âbout that.â
âHey, I thought it was a cute story,â Y/n held her hands up in surrender, âYour daughter thought it was a laugh riot.â
Joel lightly rolled his eyes, letting them rest afterwards on Y/nâs face. A stray bit of hair had fallen in her face, thanks to the breeze, and Joel brushed it away, cupping her cheek.
Joel and Y/n had made the decision that they wouldnât take their relationship any further without having Sarahâs approval. They had yet to even kiss.
âIf this works out,â Y/n started, âYouâre not gonna be able to get rid of me.â
âWho says I want to?â Joel muttered, their close proximity allowed him to lower his voice.
They both knew if they stayed in the moment a second longer, their wills could cave. Y/n shoved her coffee cup between their mouths, allowing them both a breathy laugh.
âCome on,â Joel reached down and clasped Y/nâs hand, âI gotcha for a little while longer.â
The two of them walked off into the Austin evening, savoring every short second they got together.
âââââ
2023. Somewhere in rural America.
Joel, Ellie and Y/n had been driving for one day and no one had yet to end up in a body bag. A win if ever there were one.
That wasnât to say they hadnât come close. Joel and Y/nâs truce was an uneasy one and with the promise made to Ellie that theyâd get along, their arguments had phased to thin lipped smiles barely concealing their disdain for one another. Still, their guns had stayed in the holsters. That was progress.
Joel pulled over at an abandoned gas station somewhere, needing to refuel. Ellie headed off to the bathrooms while Y/n and Joel went about setting up the siphon.
As Y/n handed Joel a rag, she noticed the state of his hand. It was still healing, and after using it so much in one day, it was beginning to shake.
48 hours ago, she would have let him suffer, but in the interest of a truceâŠ
âHere,â she scooted closer, taking the siphon into her hand.
âI got it,â Joel protested.
âI know you do,â she placated him, gently prying his hand off the device, âNow move.â
She inched him out of the way and took over attaching the device. Joel crouched next to her in the dust, he felt useless if he wasnât working.
Footsteps signaled that Ellie was coming back. She glanced over the abandoned car at Y/n and Joel.
âWe have to do this every hour?â Â
âGas breaks down over time,â Joel answered, âThis stuffâs almost water. Back in the day, weâd drive 10, 12 hours on one tank. You could go anywhere.â
âSo whereâd you go?â Ellie asked.
Y/n continued working, bouncing the memories off that threatened to stick in her mind.Â
âPretty much nowhere,â Joel answered, it was technically the truth, but so there was unclaimed life resting in his âpretty much.â
Y/n huffed a large breath into the siphon, the gasoline dripping into their canister.
âNice,â Ellie complimented, âHow does that work?â
âItâs a siphon,â Joel explained as Y/n monitored their levels, âItâs when liquidâŠtravels against gravity because pressure-â
Ellie nodded smugly, âYou donât know.â
âI know it works,â Joel quickly replied.
Y/n smirked and looked over her shoulder, âPlease teach us more about physics, professor.â
Joel frowned at his ex before turning his attention back to a walking Ellie, âNo wandering.â
Ellie thought a moment, âOkay,â she went into her backpack, âThis is your fault then.â
She whipped out a small paperback that made Y/n shut her eyes in exhaustion. âOh, sweet Moses, not that bookâŠâ she muttered.
Joel started to speak, âWha-â
ââIt doesnât matter how much you push the envelope,ââ Ellie recited, ââItâll still be stationary.ââ
Joel blinked, Y/n let her forehead rest against the car.
ââNo Pun Intended: Volume Tooâ by Will Livingston,â Ellie held up the book to Joel, âVolume Too. Look, you get it? Too? Like t-o-o?â
Joel mumbled something under his breath and got up.
ââWhat did the mermaid wear to her math class?ââ Ellie asked her captive audience, building tension in the silence, ââAn algae bra,â she laughed, âLike algae bra. âI stayed up all night-â
âNo,â Joel shook his head, like that word carried an ounce of power with Ellie.
ââWondering where the sun went,â the girl continued, ââAnd then it dawned on me.â
âFeel free to wait in the truck,â Joel suggested, crossing his arms across his chest.
âWell, Y/n thought it was funny,â Ellie retorted, sheâd tested the jokes our on her watcher back in the QZ.
âI laughed at one out of, like, fifteen, Ellie,â Y/n grunted as she got to her feet, âThatâs not the win you think it is.â
âOkay, but just know,â Ellie held up the book again, âYou canât escape Will Livingston. Heâll be back. Thereâs nothing you can do to stop him.â
Ellie took her backpack and her jokes and walked back to the Chevy, leaving Joel and Y/n by themselves.
âYou get that book,â Joel started, trying to break the silence, âIâll roll down the window.â
âOh, thatâs not even the worst of âem,â Y/n replied, wiggling the toe of her boot into the ground, âBut they make her smile. Like Iâm in any position to put a stop to that.â
Joel glanced over at Y/n, taking a temperature reading of her once again. It was hard to see so much of the person youâd once loved with your whole heart mixed with who theyâd become. Every once in a while, he got flashes of his ex-girlfriend in the light she used to radiate. But something inevitably came through and blew out her flame. More than often, all it took was his mere presence.
âWe should be good,â he said, changing his train of thought and kneeling down to pack up the siphon.
Y/n took the gas theyâd collected and carried it back to the truck. Heavy as it was, she wasnât about to ask Joel to help her. Sheâd lived through twenty years of their dystopian hell-space, a gas can wasnât about to best her.
Once the truck was filled up, Joel and Y/n hopped in the front seats with Ellie sitting in the back.
âMustâve been some truck,â Ellie commented, staring out the back window at the fleet deserted vehicles.
âYeah, they used to stick big-ass plows on them and clear the roads for their tanks and such,â Joel said.
Ellie spun around in her seat, âI wanna see a tank!â
âYou will,â Joel replied, âTanks, choppers, all that stuff. But theyâll fight the wrong enemy. Just scattered around now.â
By now, Joel was background noise to Ellie as she dug around the back of Billâs truck.
âI got somethinâ,â she announced proudly, waving another cassette tape in between Y/n and Joel. âHere, does this make you all nostalgic?â
Joel took the tape from her, it was Hank Williams. Y/n and him shared a sideways glance, if Ellie had any musical knowledge, theyâd have been insulted.Â
âThis is actually before our time,â Joel handled the cassette.
âGreat,â Ellie settled back in her seat, unamused.
âDoesnât mean itâs not good,â Y/n stated, watching Joel pop the tape into the player and adjust the volume.
The speakers flooded with the warm sounds of the country legend. Something about it made both Joel and Y/n relax into their seats a little more.
âOh, man,â Joel mumbled to himself, briefly closing his eyes and letting the music wash over him.
âYeah,â Y/n absentmindedly replied, staring out her window.
âGot somethinâ else,â Ellie announced, the sounds of magazine pages flipping behind Joel and Y/n, âItâs, uh, light on the reading, but it has some interesting pictures.â
Y/n and Joel peered into the dashboard mirror, catching a graphic cover. Their protests overlapped.
âOh, no, no, no, put that back.â
âEllie, donât read that.â
âThatâs not for kids, Ellie.â
âThereâs nothing you need to see-â
Ellie opened up the centerfold of the x-rated magazine, her jaw dropping at the sight, âHow would he even walk around with that thing?â
âEllie,â Y/n unbuckled her seat belt, flipping around in her chair and stretching into the backseat, âPut it back.â
The girl slid to Joelâs side of the truck, too far away for Y/n to reach. âHold you horses,â she argued, âI wanna see what all the fuss is about.â
While Joel watched nervously through the mirror, Y/n was not so easily defeated. She kept clawing at the air, trying to rip the magazine out of Ellieâs hands. Ellie turned away just enough so Y/nâs fingertips barely touched the paper.
âWhy are all the pages stuck together?â Ellie asked.
âUh,â Joel elongated, unsure of what to do, âThe-â
âIâm just fuckinâ with you,â Ellie burst into laughter, reaching past Y/n and slapping Joelâs shoulder with the magazine.
Y/n slid back into her seat, moving as far away as she could from Joelâs shoulder.
Ellie unrolled the back window, the whipping winds blowing through the truck. She tossed the magazine out with a grin, âBye-bye, dude!â
Y/n sighed and put her hand to her temple, nearly laughing at the absurdity of the moment.
They drove for most of the day, answering Ellieâs occasional question, but mostly sitting in silence. Somberness would fall over the truck whenever they passed by some piece of the old world, ruined and rusted by time. They drove by an abandoned amusement park, a rickety coaster still standing. A sign for what used to be a Loveâs truck stop. A bridge that had collapsed at some point in the last two decades. To Ellie, it was a lost future. To Joel and Y/n, it was the world they didnât know if theyâd ever see again.
When the skies grew began to grow dark, there wasnât much driving left for them to do.
âAll right,â Joel announced to the truck, âThatâs enough for the day.â
One part of their agreement was that Y/n would trust Joelâs ability to get them to Wyoming. Her rebellion against his every word made her want to argue that they could go a little longer, but she was trying to keep up her end of the deal.
Joel pulled off the main road and drove them into the nearby forest. They set up camp deep enough that they were hidden, but close enough to the road to escape quickly, should the need arise. Joel and Y/n took care of preparing dinner, using a portable stove and cutlery theyâd taken from Billâs house.
Eventually, they all sat down to a lukewarm meal of ravioli. Ellie practically inhaled it while Joel and Y/n tried to make it last.
âSlow down,â Joel cautioned.
âThis is slow,â Ellie replied with a full mouth, âWhat am I even eating?â
âThat is 20-year-old Chef Boyardee ravioli,â Joel answered.
âThat guy was good,â Ellie complimented, stuffing another piece in her mouth.
Joel stared down at his meal, âI actually agree.â
Y/n swirled a piece around her plate, âItâs technically food.â
âHow long are we staying out here?â Ellie inquired.
âI figure I sleep tonight,â Joel answered, âAnd drive tomorrow, all day, all night, and get us to Wyoming by next morninâ.â
âYou know I can take a shift, right?â Y/n asked, Joelâs stony silence served as his reply, âAh, so you do know and youâre choosing to ignore it.â
âIn the interest of gettinâ us there the quickest, itâs better I drive,â he stated.
âYes, navigating a highway,â Y/n retorted, taking a sarcastic tone, âThatâs menâs work.â
âWhat happened to getting along?â Ellie smirked as she watched the exchange.
Joel and Y/n glanced over at her and backed down. They had to watch themselves.
âSo can we start a fire?â Ellie changed the subject, âIâm freezing.â
âNow, why am I gonna tell you no?â Joel replied shortly.
Ellie shrugged in defeat, âBecause Infected will see the smoke.â
âNo, fungus isnât that smart,â Joel said, âThis is too remote for Infected, anyway.â
âPeople?â Ellie came back with.
Joel nodded.
âSo what are they gonna do? Rob us?â
âOh, theyâll have way more in mind than that,â Joel answered, never once looking up from his plate.
Y/n had lived a vastly different life than Joel had, post apocalypse, but she knew the horrors people willingly committed against each other. Being cold for a night was the ideal.
Once the sun set, the three of them rolled out their sleeping bags, another courtesy of Bill and Frank, and set up for the night. Y/n laid her head next to Ellieâs, while Joel stayed on the complete opposite side of them.
Ellie took a whiff of the inside of her bag, âActually smells kinda good.â
âWell, that would be Frankâs then,â Joel quipped.
âIf mine smells like gunpowder,â Y/n held her sleeping bag up, âIâm gonna assume-â
âBill,â Joel took no time in answering.
Y/n nodded, âCopy that.â
Before they could lay down for the night, Joel and Y/n made a point of each checking their shotguns and laying them at their sides.
Ellie and Y/n nestled into their accommodations beside one another, Ellie pulling something out of her backpack before switching the lantern off and turning on her flashlight. Y/nâs back was turned, or else she would have put a stop to what was about to happen
âJoel?â Ellie eventually called out, âY/n? Joel?â
âWhat?â Joel jumped to attention, he still moved with the urgency of a father.Â
Y/n turned over, âWhat is it?â
âCan I ask you a serious question?â
âYeah,â Joel said for both of them.
Ellie sighed deeply, ââWhy did the scarecrow get an award?ââ
Y/n and Joel both looked over at the same time to shoot Ellie a glare. She kept a straight face as if she really needed the answer.
âBecause he was outstanding in his field,â Joel answered.
Y/n groaned, âOh, God, thereâs two of you.â
âYou dick,â Ellie laughed, âDid you read this?â
âNo,â Joel turned over, smirking only to himself, âNow go to sleep.â
Ellie victoriously smiled, having successfully chipped away at a little bit of the ice manâs exterior.
âAdmit it,â Ellie whispered to Y/n, âYou like them.â
âI will smother you in your sleep,â Y/n mumbled into her pillow. Sheâd never admit to cracking a smile.
They had just settled back into the sleepy silence when Ellie spoke up again, this time truly serious.
âThose people you saidâŠthereâs no way anyone knows weâre here, right? No oneâs gonna find us.â
Joel and Y/n both stiffened, they could only guarantee so much. Where they were was as close to safe as they could get. But that wasnât something you told a scared kid who wouldnât admit to being scared. You gave them hope, confidence.
âNo oneâs gonna find us,â Joel confirmed.
âOkay,â Ellie accepted the answer and flipped over.Â
Y/n lay on her back, staring up at the stars. Her paranoia had softened the longer she survived, but laying in the middle of the open woods with a big flashing red sign above that read âFREE KILL HEREâ was resuscitating it.
A few feet away, Joel was feeling the same thing. He couldnât pretend like he was fearless leaving himself completely vulnerable. And now that he knew Ellie was nervous, it only woke him up further. He eyed the shotgun, calculating in his head how little sleep he could make the drive on. If he counted on Y/n to take one of the shifts, they could still make good timeâŠ
They both unzipped their sleeping bags at the same time, turning to one another in the dark. No matter how hard they tried, they were on the same wavelength.
Y/n sighed, âYou take the first shift?â
Joelâs nod had a heaviness to it, âYeah.â
Y/n settled back onto her side, this time facing where Joel was heading to take up his post. She fell into an uneasy sleep, only after keeping watch over Joel until her exhaustion forced her to stop.
ââââââ
It was a few hours later, Joel eyelids were beginning to droop. His ears were beginning to ring. He needed sleep.
After doing one last scan of the area, he walked back to their campsite. He came over to Y/nâs sleeping bag, ready to wake her, but stopped.
He stared down at her, her lips slightly parted, her hair framing her face and her lashes fanned across her cheeks. The frown she carried throughout the day faded in sleep, softening to a content expression as if she was between the bliss of unconsciousness and the evil of the waking world. It was the most at peace Joel had seen her in the last few days.
He couldnât bring himself to wake her up.
Sheâd be mad at him in the morning, he knew it. Sheâd berate him for thinking he didnât need her and probably make a crack about him falling asleep at the wheel. That was fine, he thought as he went back to his post, heâd take it. Anger and nostalgia were waging a battle within him, and right now, he was allowing his wistful memories to win.
ââââââ
Y/n woke up to the smell of coffee brewing and the rustling of something in their truck. Seeing that Joel wasnât in his sleeping bag, she grabbed her shotgun and bolted upright. The barrel of the weapon found Joel, packing up the truck, cocking a brow at her.
Y/n exhaled and set down her gun, running a relieved hand over her face. âYou didnât wake me up,â she said when she came to fully.
âI had it covered,â Joel said softly, not wanting to wake Ellie yet.
âI didnât ask that,â Y/n replied as she stretched, already annoyed with him. She rolled out of her sleeping bag and got to her feet. âWell, Iâm driving this morning. Iâm not ending up dead just because youâre stubborn.â
Joel didnât look up as he tied his sleeping bag up. Right on cue.
âCoffeeâs on,â he changed the subject.
Y/n felt like Joel knew that would distract her enough to move on. He wasnât wrong. She reached over to grab her backpack, feeling around for her travel mug. Her hand graced the plastic butterfly sheâd taken from Joelâs apartment, freezing as she did.
Grief, much like heartbreak, had to be danced around. If you got too close, self destruction would swallow you whole. Y/n collected her thoughts and led them back to where she was, quickly finding her mug and zipping the pack up again.
Ellie rolled over, awake finally, and sniffed the air. She scooted over to where Joel had the coffee boiling and carefully opened the lid.Â
âUgh,â she gagged, âWhat the fuck is that?â
Joel turned to her, âYou donât like coffee?â
Ellie grimaced, watching the bubbling brew a second longer before throwing the lid back down and rolling back onto her pillow.
âUh-uh,â Y/n shook her head, nudging Ellie with her boot, âUp and at âem, come on.â
Ellie stuck her middle finger out, âFuck you, man.â
âUp,â Y/n repeated, tugging on the bottom of Ellieâs sleeping bag.
The girl moaned and sat up, glaring at Y/n, who went to pour her mug of coffee. Whether it was the first sip of caffeine shifting her mood or she simply was making an effort, she wasnât sure, but when Joel walked over with his mug, Y/n poured it for him.
âThanks,â Joel mumbled, âWhy donât I drive for three hours, you take over after?â
âTwo,â Y/n countered, âThose bags under your eyes make you look like youâre in a fucking Tim Burton movie.â
Joel sighed, remembering the truce. âFine.â
Y/n and Joel finished packing up their supplies and the three of them were back on the road in minutes.
âIs that what the Starbucks in the QZ used to sell?â Ellie asked, eyeing Joelâs mug.
âWell, thereâs was a lot fresher than what Bill saved up, but yeah,â Joel answered, âThis is what they sold.â
âThe world used to run on this stuff,â Y/n added.
âSmells like burnt shit,â Ellie mused, smirking over at Joel.
Joel, straight faced as could be, raised his mug and took a big slurping sip. Y/n bit down on her lip to keep from rewarding him a laugh.Â
âEyes on the map,â Joel ordered.
â76 west and then 70 west for, like, everâŠâ Ellie read, Y/n had taught her how to navigate directions and she was still getting the hang of it.
âWhere in Wyoming did you say your brother was?â Ellie asked Joel.
âLast contact came through a radio tower close to Cody,â Joel answered.
Ellie scanned the map, âCody. CodyâŠCodyâŠah, man. That is deep up in there.â
Y/n peekd over Ellieâs shoulder to take a look, âDo you know where he would have gone other than there?â
âOdds are heâll be near a settlement,â Joel answered, âProbably close to another city out there. Ainât too many of âem in Wyoming.â
The second part of his reply was meant more for Ellie. She was getting a crash course in geography.
âChee-Yen,â she read off.
âCheyenne,â Joel corrected, heâd studied that map so intensively that he could have found his way around the state blindfolded.
âChey- really?â Ellie double checked before reading again, âCheyenneâŠLaramieâŠCasper? Whatâs his name?â
âWhose name?â Joel asked, avoiding the question another five seconds.
âYour brother,â Ellie replied.
Joel paused, âTommy.â
A wave of nostalgia crashed around Y/n, hearing his name made her think of cheap beer and belly laughter.
âYounger or older?â Ellie continued to question Joel.
âYounger.â
âWhy isnât he with you?â
Joel sighed, stretching his neck out slightly, âA long story.â
âIs it longer than 25 hours? âCause I think thatâs what we got,â Ellie asked, turning around to Y/n, âDo you know?â
âNo, I donât,â Y/n clocked Joel in the dashboard mirror, âAnd if Iâm risking my life to find him, I think I deserve to know.â
Joel met her eyes in a fleeting glance, she was backing him up against a wall.
âTommyâs what we used to call a âjoiner,â he began to explain, âDreams of becominâ a hero. So he enlisted in the Army right outta high school. A few months later, they ship him off to Desert Storm,â he allowed for Ellieâs confused gaze, âThatâs what they called that war, it doesnât matter. Point is, beinâ in the Army didnât make him feel much like a hero. Cut to twelve years late, outbreak happens. He convinces me to join a group makinâ their way up to Boston, which I didâŠmostly to keep an eye on him, keep him alive.â
Y/nâs stomach turned, she wasnât just hearing about what had become of TommyâŠshe was hearing about what had happened to Joel after they broke up. Gaps sheâd wanted filled for twenty years.
âItâs where we met Tess,â Joel continued, breaking for a sip of coffee, âAnd that whole crew, we, uhâŠwell, for what it was, it worked. And then Tommy meets Marlene. She talks him into joininâ the Fireflies. Same mistake he made when he was eighteen,â Joelâs tone turned bitter, his voice quivering an almost undetectable amount, âWants to save the world. Pipe dream. Him. Fireflies, all of âemâŠâ he didnât dare meet Y/nâs eyes, âDelusional.â
Y/n lifted her feet up and hugged her knees, she knew the remark was meant for both her and Tommy. And while her anger with Joel hadnât lost its momentum, she let him continue. He needed to get it all out.
ââCourse last I heard, he quit the Fireflies too,â Joel went on, âSo now heâs on his own out there, andâŠI gotta go get him.â
The car was washed in a somber silence. Only one of them was brave enough to break it.
âIf you donât think thereâs hope for the world,â Ellie said, âWhy bother going on? I mean, you gotta try, right?â
âYou havenât seen the world,â Joel said, a little wistful, âSo you donât know. You keep goinâ for family. Thatâs about it.â
The five words pierced through Y/nâs heart, the wooden arrow splintering inside the chambers. Each syllable was like taking a knife to the carefully placed stitches around her soul.
âIâm not family,â Ellie said, blissfully unaware of the situation surrounding her.
âNo,â Joel agreed, âYouâre cargo. And I made a promise to Tess. And she was like family.â
Numbness set in and Y/n rested her head against the window, focusing on the rolling fields of rural America. If Ellie wasnât in the car, she would have let herself go off on Joel, but it wasnât the time.
âWhat if you donât find him?â Ellie asked the man.
âI will,â Joel replied,
âHow do you know?âÂ
âIâm persistent,â Joel stated before switching gears, âYou got up pretty early, if you wanna grab more sleep.â
Ellie scoffed, âIâm not even tired.â
Within a few minutes, Ellie was beginning to doze off. Y/n gently tapped her shoulder, gesturing for her to climb into the backseat. She helped pull her through and Ellie settled against the opposite window.
Joel drove them for an hour in silence before Y/n couldnât stand being still anymore.
âPull over,â she told him, âLetâs switch.â
Joel was tired enough to listen to her, stopping the car in the middle of the road. They unbuckled and got out, meeting at the front.Â
âYouâre wrong, you know,â Y/n said once they were face to face, âAbout Tommy, about the FirefliesâŠall of it.â
âYou wanna prove me wrong, have at it,â Joel replied, disgruntled by the whole idea.
âTommy wanting to be a hero is him wanting to help people,â Y/n kept going, âTo fight. To do the right thing. When has that ever been a bad thing?â
Joel nearly scoffed, âMaybe when it gets him killed.â
âIf heâs still here after all these years, maybe you need to stop looking at him like heâs some idiot kid. You donât get to judge the people who are trying to get some of this,â Y/n spread her arms out to the wide open space around them, âAny of this back. Itâs a hell of a lot more than you seem to be doing.â
Joel rested a hand on the truckâs hood, âMaybe I donât feel the need to waste my time on a pointless cause. Last time I checked, that was all the Fireflies ever accomplished.â
âAt least Iâm doing something,â Y/n fought back, âIâd rather spend the rest of my life on a pointless cause and go to sleep with whatâs left of my soul than sell it to the devil and not recognize my own damn reflection.â
Joel felt the last part of her sentence push into his gut like the tip of a spear. She was hitting too close to home without knowing it.
ââKeep going for family,ââ Y/n repeated, practically spitting the last words, âWhen was the last time you fought for anything?â
Joel reached out, grabbing Y/nâs arm roughly as she turned away and spun her around. If she hadnât dug her boots into the asphalt, she would have fallen right into him.
âYou donât know what Iâve fought for,â he growled, his eyes boring into hers.
Y/nâs chest rose and fell rapidly with rage, inching her face closer to his to show him she wasnât afraid of him. âNeither do you,â she seethed.
Their breaths mingled in the few inches left separating their mouths. Neither one of them were making any real threats, there was simply too much tension between them to ensure a safe car ride. They needed to let it out.
Joel realized his fingers were digging into Y/nâs arm, it had happened when she had moved closer to him. Habits were tricky to break, but the body didnât hold grudges like the mind.
The close proximity wasnât lost on Y/n, but she was able to free herself from it before muscle memory took over. She yanked her arm out of Joelâs grip and took the keys from his other hand, stomping around to the driverâs seat and getting in. Joel unhappily followed, and their wordless journey continuedâŠ
âââââââââ
Joel caught maybe thirty consecutive minutes of sleep while Y/n drove them. It wasnât that she was a bad driver, he just wasnât used to not being in control of a situation. He gripped the map tightly as they drove into downtown Kansas City.
Surrounding them were rusted abandoned vehicles, but the tunnel in which they needed to go through was blocked entirely by a semi. Y/n brought the car to a halt, glancing over at Joel knowingly.
âWait here,â she told Ellie, who had just woken up.
Joel and Y/n got out, Joel grabbing their shotguns from the backseat. He handed hers over and the team took calculated steps towards the tunnel. Joel crouched down to get a peek at the open road waiting on the other side of the mess. The semi was parked that way deliberately.
Joel walked back to the truck, Y/n only a step behind him. They got back in their seats seat, Ellie squeezing over the glove compartment.Â
âWhere are we?â
âKansas City,â Joel answered quickly, taking the map from her. The three of them studied it.
âHow far back do we have to go to get around this?â Ellie asked.
Joel traced their route with his fingertip, Y/n tugged the map closer so she could study it too. There werenât a lot of options if they had a prayer of getting to Wyoming within their time frame. They could either go back, costing them a few more hours, or take their chances passing through the city.
Y/n sighed, everything she was about to say went against what she wanted to sayâŠ.
âItâs your call.â
Joel was honestly surprised that she had relented so quick. âScrew it,â he muttered, âHead back âround the tunnel, get on the next ramp. Weâll be back on the road, minute tops.â
Y/n put the truck in reverse and backed them up, swinging around a shoulder of road that would take them into the city.
âYou guys are my eyes,â Y/n said as she navigated the first set of streets,Â
âTell me where to go.â
âLook for any signs,â Joel instructed while Ellie read the map.
They drove for about five minutes, having gotten no closer to finding the open road.
âWhere the fuck is the highway?â Joel complained.
âI canât tell from this,â Ellie let her hand fall against the map, âIâm all turned around.â
Joel was trying to help Ellie navigate while also keeping an eye peeled for potential threats. âWell, donât look at the state map, look at the inset,â he directed.
Ellie groaned, âWell, I donât know where we are in that either! This is my second day in a fucking car, man. I mean, I think weâre heading north?â
âI donât even see any fucking signs,â Y/n mentioned.
âItâs gotta be the right,â Joel said, shaking his head, âWhat the fuck?â
âY/n stop,â Ellie exclaimed.
Y/n threw on the brake, bringing them to a halt in the middle of the street.
âIs that the QZ?â Ellie asked, her eyes wide as she peered over Y/n, âWhere the fuck is FEDRA?â
Joel and Y/n got a look at where the Quarantine Zone should have been, zero military presence. That was unfathomable.
âHey,â a voice called, their attention was drawn to a man limping towards their truck, âPlease help.â
Y/n and Joelâs blood ran cold, they knew exactly what was about to go down.
âPut your seatbelt on,â Joel told Ellie, throwing his on as well.
âArenât we gonna help him?â Ellie asked innocently.
Y/n said a silent prayer to anyone who was listening for survival.
âNo,â Joel answered, looking to his ex, âDrive. Now.â
Y/n pressed her foot down on the gas pedal, the âinjuredâ leaping out of the way. The man cried something out she couldnât hear over the blood pounding in her ears.
âY/N!â Ellie screamed.
Y/n was too busy driving to see what Ellie and Joel were watching, but the message was received when a large object got dropped on their windshield. Y/n swerved, Joel reached over to steady the wheel as she regained control. In their mad dash effort, they didnât notice the strip of nails ahead of them. The truck shook as its tires began to deflate.Â
âFuck!â Y/n yelled, âWhat do we do?â
âHard right into that building,â Joel shouted, there was another guy in their path, âNow!â
Instincts ignored, Y/n pulled to the right, holding her breath as they smashed through the glass windows of the nearest building.

Fool For Love
part 2
~~~
part 1
~~~
Authorâ Note: For one, Iâm still on my first play-through and this will definitely stray from canon, but hopefully some things will give a nod to some of the actual events in the game. (Also there will be no Wyll or Minthara because I havenât gotten to know them forâŠreasons đ)
(As for when this takes place, Iâm thinking around late act 1, early act 2-ish)
~~~
Astarion x reader/Tav
Tags: (mild?) angst, pining, pining while fucking, jealousy, eventual happy ending
Summary: You thought knew what you were doing when you let Astarion into your bed. He doesnât have feelings for you, and vice versa. Only⊠Now you do. And the question is, how will you deal with it?
~~~
âHave you been crying, Tav?â
Fuck. You shouldâve known Karlach would notice. âYes,â you admit, knowing itâs no use lying. âNightmare,â you add, because itâs not entirely untrue.
âAh, yeah, thatâll do it.â The hand Karlach places on your shoulder feels reassuring. Supportive without a speck of judgement. âIâm here if you ever want to talk about it, you know.â
You smile, because you donât know what you have done to deserve such a great friend like her. âBe careful,â you laugh, âotherwise I might take you up on that offer.â Gods knows youâre in need of someone to confide in. Itâs just that youâre not a hundred percent sure sheâs not one of Astarionâs other conquests.
âMy tent is always open for you, Tav. I hope you know that.â Karlachâs soft smile quirks into a grin as her eyes shift to look at something over your shoulder. âOh, hi, Fangs. Trying to sneak up on Tav, are you?â
âAnd a good morning to you too, Karlach.â You donât need to see him to know that heâs rolling his eyes. âOf course not, I just did not want to break up what looked like an intimate moment.â
Strange. Underneath the snark, Astarion almost sounds⊠jealous. That doesnât make the least bit sense, so you brush the notion away.
âNothing intimate about it,â you press out. âJust Karlach being a good friend.â One deep breath, and then you turn around to face him. It takes all of your determination, but you make sure to keep a neutral expression. Except you catch his eyes narrowing, and too late you realise that he, too, notices the small but telling signs of the tears you shed not even an hour ago. Unlike Karlach, he keeps his thoughts to himself, because of course he does. Youâre not even sure why youâre not surprised, but deep down you knew he wouldnât acknowledge it.
You momentarily stop breathing when the truth slams into you like a blow to the gut: he doesnât care enough to ask. Or if he does, asking could mean complicating things he wants to keep simple.
âTav?â
You hear Astarion addressing you, but youâre stuck inside your own head now. Of course he doesnât want to know. Freedom and survival are the key factors driving Astarion in everything he does, and getting entangled with you beyond pleasure and safety â and feeding â could compromise both of those things. While he probably does consider you a friend at this point, itâs only surface-level. In all honesty you canât blame him. After all heâs been through, trust doesnât come easy to him.
You could hold a grudge for the lies he told you, but the truth is, you went into this with your eyes wide open. You couldâve called him out on it, but you were so curious about what it would lead to that you let him believe that you were fooled.
âTav?â
A cool hand on your arm snaps you back to the here and now.
âSorry, did you say something?â Heâs eyeing you warily, and you wonder fleetingly how he would react if you told him the half-lie about the nightmares.
Astarionâs brow twitches as he opens his mouth to speak. âTavââ
âGooood morning, everyone!â
Gale. Of course. âGood morning, Gale.â Not letting yourself ponder what Astarion mightâve been meaning to say, you fling yourself at the opportunity of a new topic of conversation as if it was the last potion of healing in an otherwise empty pouch. âArenât you chipper this morning?â
âI saw a falling star just before going to bed last night, and it felt like a sign that this day would be an exceptionally good one.â
âI hope youâre right.â
âSpeaking of.â Lowering his voice, Gale slides closer to your side. âI was thinking of doing some stargazing tonight. Want to join me? The sky should be clear enough for it.â
You can feel Astarionâs eyes on you. âSure,â you hear yourself say, immediately regretting it.
âPerfect!â
âWhatâs perfect?â
Saved by the Tiefling. âGale says tonight should be perfect for stargazing.â When you turn around to face her, thereâs no Astarion in sight. That should feel like a relief, and yet, you can help but worry. Why that is is beyond you, but the guilt is still there, confusing you even more.
âThatâs notââ
âWhy donât you join us? We can ask the rest of the group too.â
âExcellent idea, Tav!â
âMm, yes. Excellent.â
Gale sounds disappointed, but itâs better this way. If you were more callous you would use Gale to try to get Astarion out of your system and out of your heart, but that is out of the question now. During your weeks together, he has become a friend. They all have.
Perhaps you can find yourself a handsome druid when you all go back to the Grove to trade with the merchant Arron later today. If for nothing else, you desperately need to work on your flirting game because it has never been your strong suit to begin with.
âTav?â
âYes, Halsin?â You donât know it, but the druid can tell that something is troubling you.
âAre you alright?â
âYeah, never been better.â If you keep saying it out loud you might perhaps believe it at some point.
âRight.â His seemingly all-knowing eyes scan you up and down, making you feel like he can see into the deepest parts of your heart and mind. Youâre not entirely sure that he canât. âI heard from Karlach that youâre going to the Grove,â he continues after a moment of heavy silence. âI have other business to attend to today, but I wanted to ask if you could do me a favour while youâre there.â
Your body relaxes with relief. âYes, we are. What do you want me to do?â
The fictitious druid can wait for another time.

I need to know how Cove would react to his baby coming out looking exactly like him - green hair and all đ
"Ok. Ok. I got this," Cove said resolutely, quickly centering himself the way he did when he was trying desperately to be calm enough to handle something.
You always thought it was cute, how hard he still had to try sometimes to settle his nerves. You would have commented on it, but another contraction ripped through you then, leaving you doubled over in the living room the apartment you shared with Cove.
You were having a baby. Soon. And seeing you in so much pain was all Cove needed to move into action.
He was by your side in a second, gripping your arms and supporting you through the pain. He kept an eye on his watch while he did it, and when it was over, he said, "Time to go."
Slinging the bag you'd packed and left by the door over his shoulder, he put his arm around you and led you down to his car. He carefully helped you into the front seat, slung the bag in the back without a care, and hopped in the driver's side and started towards the hospital.
It was a short drive, but you had another contraction on the way over. Cove held your hand through it, and if you'd hurt his hand by bearing down with all your strength, he didn't react to it.
When you arrived, he all but carried you inside. You were quickly checked in and moved to a room. Cove gave them the information about your contractions, and it looked like it wouldn't be too long until it was time to push.
After calling your moms to let them know that it was time, he never left your side. He held your hand, endured your screaming, and encouraged you as best he could until finally your doctor announced that the baby's head was crowning.
Cove kept a firm grip on your hand -- not that he really had much of a choice with how tightly you were holding his -- but moved to take a peek at your child being born. You weren't paying too much attention to his expression, being otherwise occupied, but you did see that he was starting to get extra emotional.
When you'd finished your job of delivering the baby and he -- it was a boy, the doctor had cheerfully announced -- was placed on your chest, you were exhausted but so completely in love with your son. Cove moved back by you, leaning down plant several kisses along the side of your face as you looked at the baby.
"He's perfect," he whispered. "You did such a good job."
"He is," you agreed, "but I can't believe I spent nine months growing him for him to come out looking like your clone."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Later, after you and the baby had gotten checked out and given a clean bill of health, the three of you were tucked away in your hospital room. Cove was perched on the edge of your bed, holding the little boy while you rested. He had him cradled close in his arms, looking down on him in awe like he had for the past several hours.
"He looks just like me," he said, glancing over at you. "But he's so cute."
"That's because you're so cute, Cove," you explained for probably the tenth time.
"But he's ... he's probably the most beautiful baby ever."
"And you're the most beautiful dad ever. I took biology with you in high school, I know you understand the basics of genetics."
Cove, with the lightest touch possible, moved a strand of the baby's seafoam green hair off to the side and a laid a gentle kiss on his forehead.
"It's crazy though," he went on. "It's not just the hair. That's my nose and my chin and everything."
"I know."
"The only thing that's different is his eyes, they're dark blue."
"They change, remember?" you told him. "When he gets older they'll probably change to his real color."
"Really?" he asked excitedly, the nodded. "That's right, I forgot. Maybe they'll be like yours though."
"Doubt it," you said with a smirk.
~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
About six months later, you were lying in bed, trying to get some much-needed rest. Cove was taking care of the baby while you took a nap, but as you started waking up, he burst in the bedroom, obviously excited but trying to be as quiet as possible.
"Are you awake?" he asked in a loud whisper.
"Yeah, is everything ok?" you answered.
He threw himself down on the bed, landing next to you on his stomach. He sported a triumphant smirk, looking as smug as you'd ever seen him.
"What is it?"
"His eyes," he said, wiggling his body and bumping it into yours. "They're getting lighter. Like mine."'
You groaned and put your pillow over your face. Cove had gotten cocky in the cutest way about how adorable your son was, and how much everyone said he looked like him. Now it was only going to get worse.
"We could always try for another baby," he offered, bumping into you again. "This one could end up looking like you. Probably not, since I obviously have the superior genetics, but there's a chance."
Without answering, you pressed the pillow down, pretending to smother yourself.
"Come on," he giggled, moving the pillow. "Would it really so bad to have another baby that looked like me?"
You looked over at him, so handsome and happy. Your lifelong best friend, your husband, and the devoted father of your child.
"No, I guess not," you smiled.

Muito obrigada, e time muito cuidado consigo mesma
.â ïœĄâ *â ⥠Translation: Can I have Azul, Malleus and Vil with a reader that always escape somehow? Like, she's super lucky and things tend to work for her. But it's not that she wants to run away or don't like them, it's just somehow she always escape.
.â ïœĄâ *â ⥠A/N: Gonna reply in english, Sweetie! But omg have I told you already that I loved this? This is all so silly and they're so dramatic, help---. I was imagining so many scenes when I was writing those hcs that I sincerely thought for a whole second to write a oneshot instead. Glad I didn't because it would be lengthy as hell, not that I won't do it in the future đ. Well I hope you enjoy, darling! <33
.â ïœĄâ *â ⥠Warnings: Yandere content, kidnapping (on malmal's part), Azul's insecurity + him guilty tripping reader, reader loves the yandere, technically fem!reader but no pronouns / gendered terms were used so everyone can read!
Malleus is a powerful wizard and he knows it. He could move mountains with the blink of an eye or make the seas stir, in fact, he would be more than happy to demonstrate everything he can do in front of you. He almost looks like a bird trying to impress its partner. So silly.
The problem is that Malleus is possessive, he wants you by his side all the time. He wants you to be the blood that runs through his veins, wants you to be the air he breathes and the water that touches his lips, that's why, after a few months of just being your friend, he takes the first step and asks you to be his lover. And he's a good boyfriend, a little clumsy and confused, of course, it's his first time in a romantic relationship, but he always tries to be better for you. He is almost perfect.
But not even that can tame the inner dragon that roars and breathes fire inside, far from it, having you so close makes Malleus more greedy. He just wants more and as usual he simply takes what he wants. Your moving into his room as he likes to call it happens at night, after you sleep so peacefully without knowing what is happening, his fingers gently groping over your skin, his lips connecting with your cheeks and forehead as he watches over your dreams. He can get used to it.
When you wake up and the first thing you see is your boyfriend and hear him say all those absurd things and feelings that have been building up in his chest, of course you don't react well. You're scared, confused but there's still love for him in your heart as you slowly turn away and hide yourself on his blankets, pondering.
But there's nothing you can do, not at that moment and controlling yourself as much as you can, you pretend that kidnapping people because you love them so much is considered normal - for someone who has lived a long time like him, Malleus certainly doesn't understand sarcasm, since he's overjoyed, kissing you and being content in watching you do completely mundane things.
By the way, even if you wanted to run away, appealing to Silver's good heart or Sebek's sense of justice is in vain. If their prince decided to do what he did then they won't stop him, instead they will talk to you, explain to you that things will be better if you just accept it. And Lilia will endorse this thought.
Now, after some time passed and you realized that you didn't care, it's not as if you're trying to escape per say. But as you were trying to open the doors to go outside for something, you applied a little more force and it opened. The same happened when you tried to open the windows, removing the padlocks from them with ease since they weren't even closed, letting the sun's rays illuminate Malleus's room. If Malleus was trying to keep you in his room he was failing horribly.
Your supposed plans to escape improving with each new attempt, but no matter how many times you "escaped" Malleus always seems to be two steps ahead, a smug smile on his lips.
He always knows that you will try to run away, just as he knows that after that you will come running into his arms as if nothing had happened, wanting the comfort that only he can offer. While your escape attempts are funny to watch, he asks you why you always escape and how, and your answer makes him laugh loudly. So you're not trying to escape, you just don't like to spend everyday in his room and away from him? Granted, he now takes you on walks in Diasomnia's gardens and through some ruins he has found. He also allows you to spend time with his brothers and father.
Now that he knows you're not trying to escape, Malleus will let you walk peacefully through Diasomnia and the campus but you know that somehow he is always watching you. At the end of the day you will return to his side.
â
Vil knows who he is and what he is capable of doing, what he is capable of achieving if he stays focused and persists in whatever is on his mind. And at the moment what occupies his mind is you, his sweet schatz. Loving you is the best thing that has happened to him, so soft and sublime, just like the books and movies suggested it would be.
And it's out of love that Vil brings you to live at Pomefiore after talking to you and knowing your opinion, he knows very well that his feelings of possession are unhealthy but in a world of villains, you learn to ignore that. It doesn't mean he doesn't first try to get your opinion on moving before he becomes a villain who stole your freedom in your eyes. And seriously, life in Pomefiore is better than in Ramshackle where you had to hope the roof didn't fly off and be careful with the stairs and the leaks and the hard mattress that made your back hurt.
You notice that Vil reveals his true colors slowly, switching this and that in your schedule to match his. Or doing your skin care himself because he likes the control and taking care of you, and well, you don't really care about that. Not even with the big changes he makes, as long as he still loves you, you follow him without complaining. And Vil realizes this, which is why he never imagined you would try to escape from him. If you can call this an escape attempt, that is.
You were creating potions in Vil's personal laboratory. Why? Because you wanted to show him what you had learned today, but the potion was so potent that it almost put him to sleep as soon as he smelled it. Needless to say, he wasn't happy about it, a little disoriented and with a growing migraine on the way, he thought that you were trying to put him to sleep to run away. But he was strangely happy to notice that you were feeling guilty and explaining what were your intentions as you make sure that everything's was alright with him. As an actor he knows how to recognize a liar, but you spoke the truth. So he decided to let it go.
It was just a single, terrible mistake, right?
Such incidents continued to occur. Sometimes even Rook had difficulty following you around campus, having to use his Unique Magic to be able to keep his eyes on you. Lady Lucky seemed to favor your above everyone else, helping you in your little escapades. You did a little bit of everything, you even managed to create a shrinking potion, staying tiny for a whole day and, instead of looking for Vil to fix this problem, you went out there into the world wanting to experience the spontaneity of the moment. One of these days you'll leave him gray with worry.
Despite the frustration bubbling within him, Vil sits you down at his dressing table to work on your hair and asks you about all these incidents, wondering if they were just tests to see how far you could push him to his limit before actually trying to escape. But when you explain your intentions to him, knowing that you're not trying to get away from him takes a weight off his shoulders. The whole situation becomes comical, here he was worried and with countless thoughts running through his head, a particularly potent potion hidden in his pocket and here you are, completely unaware of the effects you have on him.
He thinks it's ridiculous that he considered that you would run away when he stops to think about how you adore his affection, drink in his every word and savor his every gesture. You're a troublemaker but are still so dependent on him. Maybe he was a little hasty and now he can finally relax. This little quality of yours though both confounded and captivated him.
â â
Azul is above all a strategist. He plans everything from the way you will meet for the first time to the way he will steal something from you. Maybe a talent, maybe a skill, but something will become his to satisfy that strange feeling he has in his chest every time he sees you. Weeks of plans are thrown out the window as soon as one day you sit in his office chair, wanting to make a contract with him. And that is the unique chance he has been waiting for, regardless of what your heart desires, he is able to achieve it and in return have you.
If only it were that simple... It's only after his whole overblot fiasco that you finally start to get closer, you still staying by his side to help him rebuild Mostro Lounge. And months later, friendship became a relationship due to Azul's calculations and assumptions. In the end you had your wish fulfilled and so did he, having you as his partner was like a dream come true. Yet, sometimes he wonders what you see in him.
He doesn't let that thought stay on his mind much, preferring to spend time with you, thinking about you, heavens he's so clingy he can't even keep his hands off you, that is, when you're alone of course. You're so sweet to him, bringing him coins for his collection and asking him how his day was, it's nice to have someone who cares. But it's terrible to imagine the ways that anyone who has a beef with him would hurt you for his actions, so Azul proposes another contract with the intention of protecting you from possible threats.
The contract in theory is simple: to remain under the twins' watch and protection. Though, your friends and other people tend to avoid you because of this, because Jade and Floyd are too intimidating. You particularly find them funny with their very different mannerisms, hovering over your shoulders like two shadows, Floyd pestering you while Jade supposedly tries to control him. Azul thinks this is a good contract, whether you think so or not - he can be convinced otherwise through persuasion.
Something that Azul didn't foresee, however, was that the twins would get bored of playing babysitter and would drag you somewhere. Jade wanted to show you his terrariums while Floyd wanted to take you to see their house, neither of them answering any of Azul's messages or calls, not even you but that's because you were trying to get the twins not to fight each other. So your escapades happen because of them, because of that Azul knows that you're not trying to leave him and he recognizes that, but due to his insecurity, every time you return to him Azul seems about to start crying while he wrap himself all over you.
If you tried to run away he could at least do this and that to prevent it, instead he tries to make you feel guilty for making him worry so much. He was about to cut off his own tentacles and eat them if you took one more second to walk through that door, is that what you wanted? It must be, otherwise you wouldn't have run away without saying anything to him >:(
Cuddle him now. Or else, he'll gonna be cranky and fussy. He just loves you so much and he knows you love as well, so why do you do this? Just let him love you completely and wholly.
