Things that charged through my mind with a kitchen knife while watching this episode:
--this episode is ------SO FUNNY
--The comedic timing, the changes in BGM, letting the voice actors go wild, it's so good
--the Haganezuka & Kanamori scene especially, they let that scene live a whole life of its own, and it makes me so excited to see them again --the comedic timing and shifts in tone, like Tanjiro sounding like he's an 8-year-old and then the moment he picks up on Haganezuka's murderous intent, Haganezuka taking the moment to leave the precious sword in Kanamori's arms so that he can charge with a knife, the inflection on Haganezuka's statements as he finger-stabs Tanjiro's cheek, the change in Kanamori's tone as he goes from total opposite of everyone in this series with his utter calm and then his ballistic (and well deserved) anger, the way Inosuke pauses to stare back at him AND THEN JUST DEMOLISHES THE SECOND SWORD ANYWAY
--Okay but also, Shinobu, you know she had waaaay too much fun "encouraging" Inosuke and Zenitsu. That was precisely the result she knew she'd get. The way that first pat on Inosuke's shoulder echoes through the dojo? AHAHAHAHA, IT'S SO GOOD. Also, once again, total lack of respect for personal space as she comes in all familiar with Tanjiro as though he's her own little brother. Speaking of, I have always, always loved the comedic timing on her conversation with Tanjiro and how well it sets up his upcoming connection to Rengoku. She truly cares a lot about Tanjiro and absolutely means it when she says she expects great things from him.
--No one expects him to be a good teacher, though. It is so laughable how much faster Zenitsu & Inosuke learn to do constant Total Concentration Breathing once Shinobu teaches them. Tanjiro's BOOM BOOM is one of the best lines Hanae Natsuki has ever delivered, but he has so much range in this episode and it is great, right down to the intensity of when he takes on Kanao in what's nearly battle. And those squeaky violins in the BGM as he poorly explains it? Hahaha, I love it. Also, two things that get in my Kamado Tanjiro feels are that he states by whole-heartedly proclaiming that his faith in Inosuke & Zenitsu to pick this technique up right away--he KNOWS their abilities and KNOWS they pick things up without the same amount of effort Tanjiro has to expend, and the effort Tanjiro puts into this technique truly makes it feel earned. He knows he's hard-headed and it takes that amount of time and effort before he gets something and can make it a part of himself, but teh fact that he never gives up and just gets started right away on that effort is so respectable. The second thing? He's using a line he learned from Makomo, those are her words!!
--What is Inosuke even doing with the broom balancing act?
--This conversation between Zenitsu & Chuntaro is some of my favorite filler
--Once again, we get a nice filler scene with Tanjiro talking to Nezuko, and in advance of the series' conclusion, reminding us that he needs to defeat as many powerful demons as he can so he can send that blood to Tamayo for Nezuko's cure. What I love is that it still bothers him that Nezuko sleeps so long and she gets worried if she doesn't wake up sometimes. On my first thought I was like, "sheesh, another convenient long nap to let Oniichan do his thing" but nowadays I'm like, "AWWWW, NEZUKO IS IN TRAINING TOOOOO." Granted, it's because of Ufotable's choice to give Nezuko her own room (a former Tsuguko's room? Kanae's room? Hospital VIP private room?) in which to set this Tanjiro orations that the scene of Zenitsu talking to Nezuko in her box had to be sacrificed. But hey, maybe she liked to sit in the both during the day sometimes to be closer to everybody, only to be all alone anyway because Oniichan was outside training! And we do know she was awake at least sometimes, as she Zenitsu cared for her entertainment needs by stealing goldfish and taking her own to see nighttime blooming flowers (in the light novels, that chapter was set during this period if I remember correctly).
--Forgot to mention this in the previous episode, but Zenitsu's mouth covered in crumbs and Inosuke covered in leaves and dirt reminds me how much I love the Taisho Secret in the previous episode when it's heavily implied through Tanjiro & Shinobu's innocent conversation that Shinobu is pissed off about Zenitsu & Inosuke's behavior while they're not in training, and how in the background they're like, "OH NO"
--Okay, so, this episode is about Kanao. Ufotable once again shows they can make excellent character-driven filler scenes, that moment when Shinobu suggests she go off and join her silly batchmates in training and Kanao's like, "let me go consult with my coin" was such a good set-up for the coin thing, and gave us such a good moment to get inside her head and artfully work in the Kanao flashback which appeared in the manga in the middle of the Mugen Train arc. The silent pauses on Kanao say so much, especially in an episode with such high energy in every other scene. Kanao may not know it, but we the viewers who know Kanao better than she yet knows herself can see that she was conflicted because she DID want to join the dumb batchmates.
--The flashback, oh my gosh, the flashback, I was already so weak and loving Shinobu more and more and more with every single scene she was in and then they gave me THIS and I was like, "!!!!!!!! THE REAL SHINOBU!!!!!!!!!!!!"
--But also… THE CUP!! THE CUP ON THE HEAD!!! OH MY GOODNESS, AHAHAHAHAH, IT'S SO GOOD, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, AND THEN SHE JUST SITS THERE WITH IT ON HER HEAD, KANAO, YOU ARE ADORABLE

The Human Who Had No Limits
➥ summary: She wanted to be strong like him - her father. He was able to defeat foes with just one punch and kick and having seen him and his disciple Genos in action she concluded she wanted to be just like him if not better; so at the ripe age of six she started training. Even when her body yearned for her to stop she didn’t she he performed 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats, and ran 10 kilometers each day until it happened. A portal done sucked her up and now she’s in another dimension but don’t think that’s going to stop her from training just as hard as her father. Nothing stops the grind, not even man eating demons that apparently want to eat you and demon slayers that want to kidnap you because some dude they work for tells them too.
➥ chapter 13: Unexpected Roommates
Tumblr media
In the quiet of the night, (Y/N) found herself settling into a state of tranquility in her room, ready to embrace a restful sleep. However, her peace was disrupted when Zenitsu Agatsuma, her eccentric companion, crept into her room unannounced. He approached her with a sheepish expression, expressing his desire to spend the night in her room due to Inosuke's deafening snores and the mysterious scratching noises emanating from Tanjiro's box.
(Y/N) glanced at Zenitsu, her expression a mixture of amusement and exasperation. "Sure, Zenitsu, whatever. Just go to sleep," she replied, her voice laced with a hint of resignation.
Zenitsu wasted no time, eagerly snuggling up against (Y/N)'s side, seeking the comfort and solace of her presence. With a sigh, (Y/N) allowed him this small gesture, understanding his need for reassurance in the face of the unknown.
Meanwhile, Tanjiro Kamado, ever vigilant, noticed Zenitsu's absence and became concerned. He went in search of his fellow companion, eventually discovering him nestled in (Y/N)'s room. Tanjiro approached them, his brow furrowed with a mixture of concern and disapproval.
"Zenitsu, what are you doing here?" Tanjiro questioned, his tone indicating his disapproval. "It's not appropriate for a male and female to share a room unless they're related or married."
Zenitsu, sensing Tanjiro's disapproval, clung tightly to (Y/N), his voice filled with desperation. "Please, Tanjiro, I can't bear the snoring and the scratching noises anymore. I just need to stay here for tonight."
The scratching from Tanjiro's box grew louder, adding to the tension in the room. Curiosity getting the best of her, (Y/N) approached the box and gingerly opened it. To her surprise, she found Nezuko, Tanjiro's sister, in her little demon form.
(Y/N)'s eyes widened in both shock and fascination. She observed Nezuko's small frame, her delicate features and the way she radiated a sense of calm despite her demonic nature. (Y/N)'s heart swelled with a newfound respect and admiration for Nezuko's resilience and her unwavering loyalty to her brother.
Torn between the concern for Zenitsu and the discovery of Nezuko's presence, (Y/N) contemplated the situation. She turned to Tanjiro, her voice calm but resolute. "Who’s the kid?”
As (Y/N)’s eyes fell once again upon Nezuko, nestled within Tanjiro Kamado's box. She turned her gaze once more towards Tanjiro, silently urging him to share the story that lay behind Nezuko's presence.
With a heavy sigh, Tanjiro began to recount the tragic tale that had unfolded in his life. He spoke of his idyllic childhood, a time filled with love and happiness, before a cruel twist of fate had shattered their peaceful existence. His family had been subjected to a horrific attack, their lives torn apart by a merciless demon.
As Tanjiro spoke, (Y/N) could feel the weight of his words, the pain and sorrow that lingered within his heart. She listened intently, her eyes locked on his face, her expression a mixture of empathy and respect for his resilience.
He explained how he had returned home to find his family brutally murdered, their blood staining the walls of their once-welcoming home. Amidst the devastation, he had discovered Nezuko, the sole survivor of the demon's onslaught. But unlike the others, she had been transformed into a demon herself.
Moved by Tanjiro's words, (Y/N) couldn't help but admire his unwavering love and determination to protect his sister. His devotion transcended the boundaries of blood ties, encompassing a bond forged through shared experiences and unwavering loyalty.
Tanjiro described his journey to find a cure for Nezuko, his relentless pursuit of answers and the encounters with both friend and foe that had shaped their path. He spoke of his encounters with demons, his training as a Demon Slayer, and his unyielding resolve to restore Nezuko's humanity.
As Tanjiro's voice filled the room, (Y/N) found herself captivated by his unwavering spirit and the love that radiated from his every word. She felt a deep sense of respect for his selflessness and an innate understanding of the pain he carried within him.
Nezuko, in her small demon form, remained tranquil throughout the retelling of their shared tragedy. Her presence served as a testament to her own strength and resilience, an embodiment of the hope that burned within Tanjiro's heart.
The weight of their shared sorrow hung in the air, the room enveloped in a somber stillness. But within that stillness, (Y/N) sensed the unwavering determination and the unbreakable bonds that had formed among their group. She recognized the significance of their collective journey and the role she now played within it.
In that moment, (Y/N) understood the importance of supporting Tanjiro and Nezuko, providing them with the strength and solace they needed to continue their fight against the demons that had torn their lives apart. Her heart swelled with compassion and determination, a resolute commitment to stand by their side, no matter the challenges they faced.
With a nod of understanding (y/n) eyes locked onto tanjiro “I’ll help,” she says after a few moments having seemingly made up her mind after hearing Tanjiro story. “I’ll help you find a cure for your sister.”

Hey
Can I request Zenitsu with a female demon reader who lost her husband because of demons and was turned into a demon too and Zenitsu reminds her of her husband when they first meet so she just starts to cry and hug, cling to him? c:
Hello! I find your request interesting and I would love to write it down! :D I do hope you don’t mind if I describe the reader's relationship with Zenitsu is platonic instead just see Zenitsu like a family member as the reader would be a lot older than him, like an adult and also there will be some changes here and there but is related to your request. I do hope what I wrote is what you wanted! There will be a short scenarios about the reader past and some headcanon along with it too. Enjoy reading! 💖
Zenitsu with a Sisterlike Demon Friend
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The happiness that you thought would last forever with your dear husband was shattered into countless pieces
It all happens during the night where you and your husband were eating dinner together. The food served was delectable that you enjoy it so much. Just like how the demon enjoying itself devouring your husband after it has crashed into your home.
Just right before you were attacked by the vicious demon, your husband covers you and fights back. Even so, the demon has left you a severe wound that has its blood in it which you will suffer later on.
You were watching your husband fighting the demon back, watches his neck get bitten in the process while you try to stop your bleeding. He screamed at you to run and never come back, you can hear the anguish and pain in his voice.
You did what you were told by your husband out of fear and distress as you can’t handle another second to see the sight of your beloved getting killed. You head out of your house and run away, never looking back. You run as fast as you can, not noticing your blood dripping down from your wound, leaving a trail of blood behind you as you run.
You are turning into a demon as you kept running. It hurts physically but you ignored it and keep running but it worse as you can feel a sharp piercing pain from you wound. You collapsed down and started vomiting blood on the ground violently. Blood is also shedding from your eyes and you can feel your whole entire body tormented from this excruciating pain.
You are turning into a demon.
Tumblr media
Now that all conclude the reader’s past, let dive into the headcanons part(cause I am lazy to put in so much effort in continuing this.)
You thought you are going to die at this point, what you didn’t know that the blood trail behind that you bled before has kill some demons with its lethal scent that was about to prey on you.
Little did you know, a young lady with butterfly hairpin both side, wearing a black uniform was watching the whole thing unfold. Watching you vomiting blood on the ground violently then collapsed unconscious.
The next thing you saw after you regain your conscious is where you in a cell. You also saw a bunch of people in different height and build. You also saw the young lady earlier right before you collapsed.
You expect yourself to be petrified because the people are glaring deep in to your soul but you felt nothing. Numb will be the right word for how you are feeling now when suddenly the lady you saw before walk up to you.
“Hello, I am Kanae Kocho. Please stay calm, we are not going to do anything with you. We just wanted to have a talk with you,” she said as she smile sweetly.
That’s when a man with a black shoulder length comes in. Kagaya Ubuyashiki. It’s his name you heard as he was introduced by his children.
He talks to you gently while you are in a cage with a soft smile. He asks you what had happened to you and you explains everything, the tragic events that you have to go through to him.
Of course, the people you saw earlier who were introduced as the Hashira, were suspicious about what you said but also shocked that you have saved many slayers from their corps.
Apparently, what they meant is that your Blood Demon Art has saved countless of lives from the corps where they were investigating the area you were in to hunt down demons.
None has died, only some suffer minor injuries.
Of course, there is some arguments here and there whether they should keep you as their most powerful weapon to hunt demons down or to just slay your head off for good.
It was then decided that the Demon Slayer Corps should keep you after Kanae express her opinion and concern that many casualties would happen if it wasn’t for your power and that you have no intention of killing humans.
Once all has been concluded, you were left to be alive instead getting your head cut off but you would many restrictions. You were later send to Tamayo and Yushiro to stay with them.
You started your lives with them. Tamayo welcomed you in warmly while Yushiro is just glaring at you which he soon get scolded by Tamayo.
Your Life as a demon
Let’s just say that, your husband’s death has put a huge impact on you deeply. You become cold and emotionless. The only person who you can trust for now is Tamayo as she also go through the same thing and also has similar demon technique.
You help her with creating medicine and stuff and soon become a doctor just like her.
Yushiro would later on have respect with you for how you work hard for Tamayo.
You don’t show it, you are disgusted of yourself for become a same species with the monster that has murdered your dear husband. You would left yourself a scar or cut on your face every time you see yourself in the mirror, just watching the blood drip down and hating yourself.
You don’t care about the injuries you had put on yourself cause it will regenerate itself anyway because you are a demon. You bottle and repress your feelings because you are demon and nobody care if you cry cause you are hated for what you have become. Even you never choose to become what you have become.
You are afraid of the thought of how your husband would think about because you have become a demon.
Because you are a demon.
You keep thinking about this often, degrading yourself while keeping a stern and empty face. Showing absolutely no emotions and weakness.
The only reason why you are still alive is because Tamayo was there to comfort you when you are feeling down although you never show it.
One day, you were the strolling around the street during the night. You just want to relax a bit from your mind. The street was dark and quiet. After all, you were out late in the night.
Until the silence was interrupted by a scream from a far distance. You follow it as it sounds like someone is in trouble and hopeless.
You saw a demon on your way, hobbling towards to you. You don’t care about it an annihilate it immediately using your blood demon technique.
That’s when the scream stops, you turn around and saw a blonde boy on top a tree, clinging tightly on one of its branches.
“IS IT DEAD ALREADY!?!?!??! IS IT!??! IS IT!!!! THAT THING WAS HELLA SCARY THAT I JUST RUN!!!!!! the boy screamed.
You walk to towards to the tree and reach out your hand to him.
“No worries, is gone now. Please come down. You might fall,” you said in a reserved turn.
“A-a-are you sure!!??!?!? Y-y-you s-should you k-k-killed it??? he said obviously not believing a word you say until he realized something. You are a demon.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! YOU JUST KILL IT WITH WHAT SEEMS LIKE A BLOOD DEMON ART!!! YOU ARE A DEMON!!!!?!?!? WHY THE HELL DID YOU SAVE ME!??!?! he yelled again after realisation hits him like a boulder.
That’s when you saw a clear image of the boy. He looks just like him. Your husband . You froze for a while and the way the boy knowing you are a demon reminds you all the past. The past that you wished to cover forever comes back.
Your knee drop and then you starts sobbing. All your hate and disgust on yourself is coming back at the same time and its too much for you to handle them anymore. You continue think how your late husband thinks of you. A monster? A strange creature? Not the person that he used to love?
You started to cry when the boy talks to you. “U-um...hey, I am s-sorry for w-what I mentioned earlier,” There is some fear in his voice but there is also some gratitude and sincerity in it. “E-even if you are a d-demon, you did s-save my life after all,”.
He still though keep his distance with you. You noticed a wound on his hand and some on the side of his forehead. You offer the boy to treat your wounds as it do looks pretty severe.
He was reluctant for a while until give in. You still keep your distance with him while tending him, as you do not wanted to scared him like before. Mainly because it makes you think that’s how your husband feel to you because the boy looks so much like your husband except the boy is blonde.
“What’s your name?” you ask. “U-um is Zenitsu A-agatsuma. You can call me Z-Zenitsu,” he answered. “I’m (Y/n) (L/N),”.
Once you finished tending him, you explain yourself a bit that you are working for Demon Slayer Corps along with Tamayo and Yushiro. Zenitsu soon trusted you a little after knowing that you are a no threat.
Just as he was about, you quickly propose to walk back with him as you are worry for his safety to go back.
You both begin to talk and knowing about each other as you both walk. You and Zenitsu enjoy together chatting and Zenitsu is smiling because he can finally talk to a women without making himself a complete fool and making himself look weird. You begin to smile and feel happy for the first time and forever after what you have gone through.
Your Relationship with Him
Once Zenitsu is comfortable with you, your relationship with him is quite similar with Tanjiro, Nezuko and Tamayo. Like Zenitsu helps you finally feel happy and makes you smile just like how Tanjiro and Nezuko makes Tamayo feel the loving feelings of a family.
You are pretty older than Zenitsu so Zenitsu calls you (L/N)-san as a sign of respect for you and you really appreciate it.
You begin visiting the Butterfly Estate during after for a long time just to see how Zenitsu is doing. Shinobu, of course was aware and distrustful with you but warm up a little after knowing that you just wanted to know how Zenitsu is doing after coming back from a mission. Shinobu started to welcome you when you come to visit and started to respect you after you are willingly to share some of your knowledge with poison and medicine with her. she stills don’t trust you but still has some respect and kindness for you.
Zenitsu would introduce you to his friends,Tanjiro and Inosuke. You heard a lot about them from Zenitsu during your conversation with him. Tanjiro would a little bit flustered because of how gorgeous you are and a little scared because you look so stern and cold but soon warm up to you after you treat him with kindness and respect. Inosuke would also like you after you give him some rice balls and shrimp that he becomes so touched that he was stucked for a while because of how generous you are and thinks you are some goddes or something.
Zenitsu would of course be pissed if these two were to hog your attention too much that he feels left out. You would of course meet Nezuko as both you and Nezuko suffered from the same tragedies.
Zenitsu won’t feel any romantic feelings for you because you are a lot older than him so instead, he sees you as like and elder sister and a role model.
You would act like a role model to Zenitsu. Always teaching him how to behave and collect himself when he lost his composure. Also giving him advice  and so on. Zenitsu respect you deeply ever since then.
You would also act like a protective elder sister to Zenitsu. and zenitsu loves it. You would always check on him when he come back from a mission, making sure he is eating well, always making medicine for him when he is hurt and so on. You would sometimes offer to tag along a mission with Zenitsu so you can protect him and make sure he is alive. You did all of this for him because you do not want Zenitsu to suffer the same fate as your husband.
Speaking of your husband death, you have once mentioned your tragic past to Zenitsu and explained that he looks so much like your husband which explained why you are so protective and caring towards him. You also mention your hate and disgust on yourself for what you have become.
Then Zenitsu immediately freaks out after recalling your first meeting with hima and he apologies to you profusely. After feeling absolutely guilt for making you cry because of his overexaggerating reaction.
You reassure him that’s alright and is just that he didn’t know. He do still feels guilt though but you would give your sincere reassurance to him.
After you have talk about your past, he wanted to become stronger and more braver so you do not have to worry about him.
Zenitsu would come in a speed of lightning when he knows that you are upset on yourself and would try to comfort you. You really appreciate his effort in cheering you up.
You would also try to help Zenitsu in his training like explaining parts that he can improve and motivate him to continue fighting and training.
Because you are a demon and can’t walk under the sun, you and Zenitsu would hang out at the street markets or go shopping during the night. These memories you created with him are memorable and precious.
You were glad that you save Zenitsu from before as he has helps you heal the scar that was caused from your husband’s death.
All you wished for Zenitsu is for him alive and living happily.

REVIEW: BURIED STARS ☆
Tumblr media
came across this korean mystery vn and i knew i had to get it bc someone commented that it had a similar feel to danganronpa/zero escape O: seems like i have a type
i usually don’t prefer to get digital copies of games but there was really no choice... i heard the physical copy is sold out in korea and resales are going for 200 USD ain’t nobody got money for that
i don’t think anyone i know is gonna purchase this game and play for themselves and i can’t share the game either bc it’s a digital copy sooo i’m gonna write a review~ please enjoy!!
basically the plot goes as such: the survival reality tv show Buried Stars was about to commence the finals of its current season with the remaining five contestants when the building suddenly collapses. most of the audience and staff members were safely evacuated except for seven ppl (the five contestants and two staff members) who are trapped in the wreckage with just their smartwatches that connects them to the outside world via calls (problematic bc they can only call a restricted number of ppl and the signal inside is shit) and phater (bootleg twitter). after trying to make some calls, everyone was then told that the rescue team would take around six hours to break into the collapsed building to get them out.
ok so they just have to wait it out... in an unstable building that can come down at any moment. cool.
then!!! they find the producer’s dead body, seemingly a victim to the falling debris!! they’re down to six survivors now.
despite the circumstances, voting is still ongoing and some rando on phater claims that the contestant in the last place will die as if the atmosphere wasn’t bad enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is your smartwatch interface!! most of the functions are pretty useless with regards to the actual gameplay but it’s just fun to play around with them i guess
for e.g. you can change the background and ringtone but they don’t affect anything
Tumblr media
there’s this feature that keeps track of changes that occur when you pick certain conversation topics during communication rounds and it’s really useful for replays!! too bad it doesn’t keep track of sanity changes in mc
Tumblr media
this is the mc!! even though he looks like he would be a tsundere punk he’s actually very soft?? kinda like saihara but with a bit more spine
Tumblr media
AND THIS IS MY BEST BOI GYU-HYUK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i lowkey ship them bc of their interactions alsjdkasjs jUST LOOK AT THIS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i was expecting there to be a lot of mysteries but given the circumstances i guess it makes sense to not have that many... there’s no murder mystery if it happened in an accident site and looked like an accident you see
Tumblr media
a lot of conversation topics focus on the character’s backstory and stuff so you get to learn more about the characters while waiting for rescue (one of the goals of this game is actually to collect characters’ profiles!)
bonding through a shared traumatic experience sounds reasonable
Tumblr media
did i mention that the cutscenes are fully voiced (either in korean or japanese depending on your preference)?? i played it in korean for my first gameplay for ~Optimal Experience~ but i switched to japanese in subsequent plays bc i wanted to be able to understand what the characters were saying without reading the text
the only thing that throws me off is that characters are given japanese names in the japanese dub but the in-game text still uses their korean names??? why
my boi gyu-hyuk is voiced by takuya eguchi and hyesung is voiced by shimono hiro (i actually doubted my ears at first bc hyesung sounds angry 24/7 and i only know shimono’s derpy zenitsu and troll ouma voices sweats;;) wOW 👍👍👍
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the first ending is the same for everyone even if you picked the best options
they call it a “normal end” but tbh it’s a bad end bc everyone dies and nothing is resolved
after you clear the game for the first time you will get to replay from the start but your options will change so you can proceed towards other routes!! yay
oh yeah in case anyone is wondering this game is rated T and bodies are shown in the form of a silhouette with non-explicit close-ups during investigation so if you can’t handle graphic stuff it’s not too bad
warning: from here on there will be spoilers for the true ending and other endings!! stop scrolling if you have even the slightest intention to play the game
.
.
.
.
.
.
collected all the endings after 30ish hours of gameplay!! i wanted to strive for 100% completion in achievements but i’m not sure how to get some stuff... might go back and try other options in the future
Tumblr media
in the true route you receive help from this random phater user plughole aND I JUST LOVE THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN HIM AND DO-YOON LMAO
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
idk if anyone tried to guess who the real culprit is but it turned out to be
my boi gyu-hyuk......
he had his reasons (not trying to say he did no wrong) and it’s just unfortunate that things turned out this way
while playing, i thought to myself... if there was one person i would glue do-yoon to throughout the entire game it would be gyu-hyuk... bc i was certain he wouldn’t hurt do-yoon
i was right tho... even in some routes where do-yoon catches him in the act, gyu-hyuk didn’t try to silence him
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CRYING
i don’t know much about korean law but he has THREE murder charges on him whicH SOUNDS LIKE DEATH SENTENCE
i’m sad bc there’s no way to save my boi even in his best ending
Tumblr media
plughole visits you in the hospital in the true ending!! he is also a troll irl it seems
he was kinda sus in the beginning but i really hoped that he was a Good Guy to keep do-yoon sane in the wreckage
and i’m glad he was
Tumblr media
do-yoon looks super baby in his hospital clothes
Tumblr media
he was not kidding when he said that his actions were bc of his sister (who is a hardcore fan of do-yoon) lmao
Tumblr media
aaa the girls are doing great after their treatment!! they visit do-yoon too!!
Tumblr media
yeah i also want to know why do-yoon is the only one still hospitalised with all those bandages when everyone else is fine but i guess maybe he got injured when he protected gyu-hyuk from falling debris at the start of the game
Tumblr media
...
if you don’t find out the true culprit of the murders gyu-hyuk goes free and he visits you every day in the hospital aND SAYS STUFF LIKE THIS
ugh it hurts me
Tumblr media
...
there’s also a joke ending (when you pick the “i’m the attacker” option lmao) which i appreciate a lot!! something to lighten the tense mood is what i crave for in games like this
somehow i feel like it’s even scarier than the usual atmosphere bc of how ooc everyone acts
Tumblr media
BUT YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT’S REALLY SCARY?
there’s a horror route that you can enter by using the “laboratory” conversation topic on everyone and expressing how much it creeps you out
and the entire game shifts in genre to actual horror (like with paranormal activities)
IT WAS REALLY SCARY AND THERE WERE HANDS EVERYWHERE AND EVERYONE WAS ACTING WEIRD ASLJELKASJ i had my eyes closed half the time and i regret playing on my monitor
Tumblr media
i didn’t take many screenshots bc as i mentioned my eyes were not looking at the screen for most part but i hope that you can kinda understand where i’m coming from with these two screenshots
Tumblr media
...
the game is actually split into two major routes (A and B) which differ in who gets saved and who dies
you can only start on the B route after you get the true ending which is in the A route
unfortunately there is no route where everyone (even if you exclude the producer bc she dies before do-yoon regains consciousness at the start of the game) survives TT
Tumblr media
if hyesung and seil survive then gyu-hyuk kills himself and leaves a note but do-yoon tears it up so we don’t know what he wrote
Tumblr media Tumblr media
overall a solid mystery vn with beautiful graphics and enough routes to keep you occupied for many hours!! i highly recommend following a walkthrough bc it’s not an easy game if you want to collect all the possible endings and achievements
cuz there are minor changes to the epilogue depending on how close you are with the characters
i actually don’t play a lot of VNs but i feel like all VNs need the route map thingy in AI: the somnium files
my only gripe about this game is prob the derpy translations which usually isn’t a big issue (imo at least) but for a game priced this high?? i expected better

A Murder of One
Tumblr media
Chapter:
15
Summary:
A literal train wreck. Miyuki confesses, and Akiko’s eyes are blessed again.
Previous Chapter | Origin | Next Chapter
Okay.
So pause scene.
Imagine this.
A buff old man (we’ll say he’s old because he has white hair) suddenly snatches up you and your friends for an unexplainable reason.
But your other friends that didn’t get snatched are being the absolute angels that they are and run down the old wack job to try and avenge you.
And then your fiance since birth (different story) walks into the scene, and he doesn’t know what the fuck is going on.
Okay.
Resume scene.
“He’s kidnapping us!!” Akiko yells out, her face red with either anger or embarrassment she can’t tell.
Tanjirou acts instantly, launching himself at Uzui with full intent on headbutting the hell out of him. But Uzui is too fast, and Akiko tries her best to kick the hems of her dress down to make sure she isn’t flashing anything. She kicks her feet wildly when she finds that the three of them are on the roof of the estate.
“UZUI TENGEN YOU BETTER COVER MY ASS RIGHT NOW!!”
“I am the ‘former shinobi’ Uzui Tengen-sama-”
“DON’T IGNORE ME! AND DON’T ADD -SAMA TO YOUR NAME YOU CREEP!!”
“Dear lord SHUT UP! Here, you brat, jeez!” Uzui brushes her skirt over, pauses, then gives Akiko’s butt a slap before laughing, claiming it to be rather flamboyant.
Akiko nearly goes mental at the harassment, and Tanjirou looks like he’s about to shoot himself up to the roof and give Uzui more than just a headbutt.
“You’re a pervert!” Kiyo yells from the ground.
“Who do you think you’re mouthing off here!! I have superiority! I’m a pillar you jackasses!”
“I don’t accept you as a pillar! Hmph!!”
“DON’T YOU ‘HMPPH’ MEEE!! DO YOU MEAN YOU DON’T ACCEPT ME?! YOU LOWLY BRAT!! IS YOUR BRAIN COMPLETELY DEAD!? I NEED A GIRL MEMBER ON THE MISSION, SO I’M BRINGING THEM ALONG!! I DON’T NEED KOCHOU’S PERMISSION IF THEY AREN’T TSUGUKO!”
“Akiko-san can’t fight! She’s a member but she doesn’t have a uniform! She’s a doctor!”
“Don’t need her then.”
Akiko screams as she’s flung off the roof and she roughly lands in Tanjirou’s arms. Any other person would flush, but Akiko’s far too mad to even think about her cute situation.
She shoves herself out of Tanjirou’s arms, jumping up and down and yelling at Uzui to come down from the roof so that she can deck him in the face. Kanon stares in bewilderment, wondering why Akiko is so prone to abandoning ‘Do no harm.’
Even Tanjirou doesn’t know what to do, staring at his fiance with wide eyes as she unleashes another side of her that he’s never seen before. Sure, she’s had her small temper tantrums when they were kids, but this is much more justified.
“Shut up you nerd! I’m taking this one on my mission. She’s a hunter regardless.”
Akiko can see the look of panic and fear on Aoi’s face, so she takes a few deep breaths to calm herself and approach the situation differently. She has no time to yell at Uzui, and despite the fact that he’s an adult, he acts like a child.
“People have their own circumstances, Uzui. Let the girl go.”
Uzui blinks owlishly at her sudden change in behavior, her eyes slanted up at him with long lashes barely brushing her cheeks. Mouth a fine line and her hair disheveled, but it makes Akiko look all the more dangerous.
Tanjirou can smell the withheld fury from Akiko, and the fact that she’s harnessed enough control to reign her emotions back in frightens him. This anger is much more dangerous than her lashed out one, and everyone feels as if they’re seeing Akiko reach a new peak of anger.
“We’ll go in Aoi’s stead!” Tanjirou interjects, just as Zenitsu and Inosuke hop onto the gates.
They aren’t in any way injured, and she sees that Zenitsu killed three demons and Inosuke five. She can’t help but tilt her head in confusion at the new piece of information her mind is filled with, but Akiko can’t take that time to care as she watches Aoi rush into Kanao’s arms.
Akiko quietly asks Kanon to make some lunch for the girls to calm everyone’s nerves, and Kanon nods her head in understanding before hurrying off. She then sighs, walking over to her dropped umbrella before picking it up, when she sees Tanjirou out of the corner of her eyes.
“Are you okay Akiko? He dropped you rather harshly…”
Akiko looks at Uzui, who waits impatiently outside the gates, before rolling her eyes at him.
“I’ll live. It’s no big deal. I’m just afraid that the girls are mentally scarred or something along the lines… What? What’s wrong?” Tanjirou is staring at her, and Akiko can’t help but wonder why.
He wakes up from his spaced out state, blushing a bit and kicking some rocks on the ground as he looks away.
“Sorry it’s just.... You look really nice today!”
Akiko can’t help but flush, immediately opening her parasol in front of herself to hide her face. Kiyo, Sumi and Naho giggle nearby, and Akiko nearly turns around to glare at them but she’s far too busy hiding herself.
And as if some higher being grants Tanjirou with all the courage in the world, he pulls the umbrella down a bit to see her red face, smiling softly before saying, “It’d be a shame if I didn’t get to see my fiance’s face before I left.”
Now Akiko can hear Kiyo, Sumi and Naho squeal with delight as her eyes widen and she’s nearly brought to tears with embarrassment. Tanjirou starts to laugh, finding that her red face compliments her amber eyes nicely, and he cups Akiko’s face into his hands before placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
“I’ll be off!” He gives her one last smile, waving at Akiko and running out of the front gates.
Akiko’s holding her forehead, staring off into space as her brain slowly but surely processes everything that’s just happened. And once everything loads in, her heart ascends.
Akiko smiles.
---
“Himi Miyuki is on her way! Deep laceration on her lower left quadrant!”
Akiko’s eyes snap open, her back aching from accidentally passing out on the wooden engawa. She quickly tries to rub the sleep from her eyes, stumbling to her room to change out of the light green dress she still dons.
It’s only been a couple hours since Tanjirou’s departure, and she’s back to work. But what else is there to do?
So Akiko yanks on another poet’s shirt, ties her hakama around her waist, and allows for Kiyo to help her with her robe and gloves. Sumi and Naho rush to gather towels upon seeing how severe the wound is.
Shinobu stands by the entrance, waiting to welcome the house’s newest patient. Everyone is surprised to see Sanemi helping the injured girl up, and Shinobu decides to poke a little fun.
Embarrassed, Sanemi leaves Miyuki in the hands of a more than capable lady to help fix her up, and she orders the girls to help drag Miyuki’s pale body to the table.
Akiko’s eyes do a quick once over, and information she’s never picked up before flood her senses.
Miyuki has just killed four demons before one caught her by surprise. She’s lost about 1200mL of blood, and Akiko orders the girls to elevate her legs once she’s on the table. Miyuki’s blood pressure is 90/70, and her breathing is so shallow it’s worrisome. Her heart beat per minute is 60, and her skin looks ashy and waxen.
Akiko knows that Miyuki’s body temperature is naturally low, but that doesn’t mean she likes how Miyuki’s body is at a solid 90 degrees.
So the girls are instructed to place a blanket over her feet and arms too, and Akiko cuts away the cloth surrounding the large gash. Aoi ties a mask around Akiko’s face, unrolls the sleeve of scalpels lined up in the bamboo sheet, and Akiko gets to work.
Miyuki stays silent, dazed by the anesthesia, but still conscious.
Akiko works diligently as always, hands moving swiftly to stop the bleed and making sure there isn’t any debris left in the wound. It’s a simple procedure, though trickier thanks to Miyuki’s naturally cold body.
But once she’s done, Miyuki is able to form phrases and sentences, the anesthesia wearing off.
“I wonder if Sanemi has ever been in love?”
Not even a thank you…
Miyuki flinches slightly under the glare Akiko casts her way, the scalpel glinting menacingly under the bright light, but Akiko throws her a bone, asking what she means.
Their conversations dips into the topic of love in general, albeit Akiko is in no way an expert, but she entertains the idea with Miyuki. Shinobu, ever so quiet in the corner of the room, even steps in to offer her two piece on the subject.
Aoi cleans the blood on the floor while Shinobu checks the IV of blood and medicine she finished making in her corner, and Miyuki finally throws her hands up into the air.
“Well then fine! Maybe I do love Sanemi! Fuck whatever my step monster has to say!”
Shinobu laughs, “What a surprise!”
Akiko can see the lie.
At any rate, she sighs, glancing at the clock in the room to take note of the time. She blinks owlishly at it as the date comes to mind.
If she’s right, Genya should be coming in today.
Akiko peels her gloves off her hands, removing her mask as well while the girls untie the robe off her from behind before she says, “Well, congrats on the realization, but I gotta go have my monthly appointment with-”
Genya.
He’s standing by the doorway.
Sumi and Kiyo are right behind him, some newly washed rags in their hands before they step into the room again to keep cleaning the blood, and realization dawns on Akiko.
“Uh, gotta go!” Akiko shoves a startled Genya out of the room and down the hall, quickly bombarding him with questions to try and make him forget about Miyuki’s feelings for his older brother.
Genya is shoved into her office and she scrambles to find his documents. It’s an organized mess, and she knows that she should clean it up, but between 20 minute naps every hour or so and working for a whole 12 “shift” sometimes, it’s nearly impossible for her.
Akiko sits Genya down on a chair, eyes brisking over his figure as statistics fill her mind. It’s overwhelming for her, and she shuts her eyes for a few seconds to clear her head. It continues to race with the adrenaline, and she starts to count her breathing to reign it back in.
“What was that before? And are you- Are you okay?” Genya asks, blushing when she offers him a polite smile. Her usual business smile in the face of patients.
“It was nothing important. No need to worry about me, either. You have a gash on your left arm so I see you haven’t been eating too many demons. Two in the last month?” Akiko flutters her eyes to clear it again, her mouth spewing words faster than she can properly think.
Genya stares at her wide eyed, astonished.
“Y- Yeah… How do you know?”
She pays him no mind, scribbling the information down with creased brows. Genya isn’t all too used to this version of Akiko. Sure, she’s serious, but not with him. She makes no move to tease him, quickly jotting down information and asking Genya to confirm the information.
Every time, she hits the nail on the coffin. It’s like she’s unraveling his life in the past month, and Genya is almost frightened of her.
“Himejima hasn’t let up easily on you. Your biceps are 42 centimeters wide now… He still has you pushing that big rock, hm? Please tell him that misogi is not the proper way for you to rest your body,” Akiko sighs, rubbing at the bridge of her nose.
She’s done with her checkup within a few minutes, taking no time to prod at his body and instead glancing at his limbs then writing numbers down. She then quickly stands to a small cabinet on her desk, pulling out a small roll of bandages and some alcohol and cotton balls.
Akiko frowns at the little bit left in the jar, and the fact that she barely has any bandages left. It’s just enough to help patch Genya up with, but she’ll have to go out and buy some more in the local village after she’s done.
“At any rate, I’m just going to wrap up your wound and then send you on your way. Sorry I was late for the appointment this month,” she’s about to unbutton Genya’s uniform for him, but he quickly stops her with raised hand and a mad blush.
Akiko pauses, quickly apologizing for being so forward, and allows him to remove as much of his uniform as he is comfortable with so that she can clean his cut.
Genya looks everywhere but Akiko. She knows that he's an embarrassed mess around any female, so she’s quick to finish up her work and allows him to shrug his uniform back on.
“Do you want me to walk you to the entrance?” Akiko asks Genya, who shakes his head. She shrugs in compliance, apologizing for making him travel all the way to the Butterfly Estate for such a short checkup, and waves as he walk down the hall and out of the estate.
Once he turns the corner, Akiko makes her way to the kitchen to find Kanon. The pinkette is looking through the pantry with a troubled look on her face.
Akiko’s eyes are given a rest when she looks at Kanon, and it’s most likely because Kanon doesn’t kill demons for a living and lives a peaceful (or, as peaceful as it can get) life at the estate.
“Are we out of food?” Akiko asks, and Kanon jumps at the sudden presence of the ginko eyed girl.
Kanon nods her head and Akiko frowns, but the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
“Alright, let’s go shopping together.”
Of course, Shinobu feels against this idea considering the town is an hour walk away, and if they aren’t quick enough, it’ll be dark.
“Perhaps someone else should go with you?” She says, and Akiko sighs.
“I think we’ll be more than fine. If it make you feel any better, I’ll bring my tools. If Kanon trips over a rock, I’ll save her from bacteria.”
Akiko can see the irritation radiate of Shinobu, so she quickly hikes up her bag, shoves a good amount of money in, and meets Kanon at the front door.
Akiko doesn’t like the way Miruna circles above their heads.

Let me tell you something, Montreal only exists in wave and snaps. Heat waves and cold snaps. That’s it. OK, here are maybe 4 days in October which are quite nice but the rest of the time… waves and snaps. We are currently in the former although I don’t think I have any right to complain considering what’s happening in Europe. But it’s all good when you have a cool anime to chill with on the weekend! How has your week been Crow? (Crow is bold, like brass!)
So I’m brassy bold? I like that! I’m going through a wetter than typical Ohio summer, which means 90+ (Fahrenheit — I know, we’re behind the times here in the States!) and humidity that exceeds the theoretical maximum! But your point about Europe is well-taken! No complaints here!
Let’s jump into it, shall we?
here we go
As you may recall, last week ended on Tanjiro interrupting Boar Boy as he was about to skewer Zenitsu for protecting Nezuko’s box. We got the few last seconds of episode 13 as an opening tag to get us in the mood and I must say, a bloodied Zenitsu desperately holding onto the box may just be my spirit animal!
I love your summary! Great word economy and it got me all caught up!
After the opening credits, we finally get the payoff to Tanjiro’s lunge and it was impressive. You could really feel that impact…for about half a second. Boar Boy is brash and difficult to take. He’s a violent dumb caricature that seems to be played for laughs, but when you are actively attempting to murder most of the main cast (in a series that has not been shy about killing off people), it’s not as funny as it could be.
This said I liked the fight.
I want to be like him when I grow up
After having a few bones broken by Tanjiro’s punch and listening to a speech about how Demon Slayers don’t draw swords against each other, Boar Boy takes the most direct approach possible and decides to attack Tanjiro bare handed right then and there. There was a slight subversion of expectations at the beginning as Boar Boy seems utterly unphased, even unbothered by the situation, simply switching from one sparring partner to another. This made the character more interesting to me.
Moreover, the fighting choreography was beautiful. Boary has an unorthodox low fighting style that incorporates a lot of leg sweeps, kicks and impressive flexibility. Paired with ufotable’s great animation, it was just fun to watch. Which is good, cause this fight lasted a while. Did you enjoy it as well?
I did, for the same reasons you mentioned. I liked how it showed Tanjiro with a little more inner conflict than usual — he didn’t want to fight, but he was still really steamed about what Boar Boy tried to do to Nezuko. Also, we got another example of Tanjiro analyzing his opponent’s style and trying to adapt. I love those little insights.
good time to have this type of discussion
Right at the end of the fight we finally get a Boar Boy reveal. We see his face I mean. Everyone in the show says he looks like a girl but I would not have noticed. Did he seem feminine to you Crow?
Honestly, no. Maybe I’ve seen Working!! too many times (remember how Souta Takanashi often had to dress as a woman to keep from triggering the crazy training Mahiru Inami’s dad had given her? Guess I kinda got used to the idea that features aren’t binary!), but he just looked like he had delicate features. I loved Tanjiro’s reaction to Boar Boy’s challenge asking if they had a problem with his face. “”We don’t have a problem with your face! It’s quite petite, fair-skinned, and therefore attractive!”
Could he be any more diplomatic? I think Tanjiro is weaponizing “nice,” which we see several times later in this episode!
imagine him with a red shag and receiving hairline…face is pretty much the same as Tanjiro’s non?
For all intents and purposes, Tanjirou wins the fight and we have a few quiet moments as Zenitsu, Tanjiro and the kids make good on their promise to bury the victims as Inosuke (Boar Boy) recovers.
I thought it was sweet how both Tanjiro and Zenitsu used their kimonos as makeshift bedding for Inosuke.
It really showed their character, didn’t it? Despite the beating Inosuke tried to give them, they still didn’t want to leave him lying unprotected on the ground. I’m warming up to Zenitsu more and more in this episode! Of course, we expect that level of consideration from Tanjiro.
As soon as Inosuke wakes up though, he goes straight back to aggressive jerk mode, demanding to fight everyone. It’s here that we get the origin to what becomes a running joke throughout the episode (and I suspect the series). Namely, Inosuke almost obsessively trying to taunt Tanjiro into lashing out just to have the latter respond with oblivious kindness and compassion.
dude, the kids are worried about YOU
Sure that’s in line with Tanjiro’s character, but when you have small traumatized children and *Zenitsu* embarrassed for you, you may want to take a step back!
Even as I laughed at Tanjiro’s reaction, I had to wonder if nice raised to the level of obliviousness is a self defense mechanism? Or is there a small piece of Tanjiro that realizes how incensed his niceness is to Inosuke?
Since Tanjiro won’t fight him, Inosuke decides to headbutt threes at full speed instead, something else he will be doing for the rest of the episode. I’m not sure if this is a long-standing habit of Boar Boy’s or he is simply trying to toughen up his skull since Tanjiro won by headbutt.
Not sure that fracturing his skull will in any way toughen it! And besides, Tanjiro’s forehead apparently had Legendary Hardness(™). I really don’t think Insouke is going to be able to catch up!
good call!
Before they can finish properly giving their respects to the dead, Tanjro’s crow shows up and tells them it’s time to leave the mountain, which they do. Along the way, the kids decide to head home, leaving the three Demon Slayers on their own and oh boy….
Zenitsu goes back to being overzealous in his fantastic fear of everything, only now, he has a loud obnoxious character in the background. On more than one occasion Tanjiro looked like he just wanted to beat them both up right then and there. With everything that’s happened so far, I think this is the first time Tanjiro truly regretted joining the Demon Slayer corp!
Tanjiro’s expressions reminded me of a day care worker on their 12th hour of the day. Just ready to go home and sleep, but the screaming children still need to be supervised!
I bet those kids were happy to leave
In a bit of almost ex machina luck, it seemed the three of them had been close to a private estate to serves as a Demon Slayer sanctuary due to an old family debt. And so, our three stoo… slayers now have a place to rest and heal up before continuing their adventures.
I see how you almost slipped there! Kinda thought the same thing myself. One saving grace? I think the Crow was leading there (always trust Crows — we’re innately trustworthy as a matter of professional pride!), so I don’t think it was random.
However, the Crow leading them somewhere pleasant? I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop!
And that’s pretty much it. A series of shenanigans take place as all three boys show comical extremes of their personalities. It was like an intermission or a random slice of life episode thrown in and I have to admit…I didn’t really like it.
sorry
When you exaggerate them like that Zenitsu is annoying and Inosuke is obnoxious, while Tanjiro is just kind of boring. I wouldn’t call it awful, but it was my least favourite episode so far. And the backstory and development we get on Inosuke were so basic that they could have skipped it all together without much consequence. But you are usually a fountain of positivity, what did you think Crow???
No pressure! If I had to rank these first 14 episodes, this one would likely be at the bottom. What kept Inosuke from being a complete chariature was how Tanjiro’s weaponized politeness gradually wore him down. Before dinner, for example, Boar Boy was on the constant attack. At dinner, he even snatched foot right off of Tanjiro’s plate and obnoxiously chewed it right in his face! When Tanjiro offered him another bowl of food, saying Inosuke must be really hungry, I expected Boar Boy to slap away the food. Instead, he just glowered. That’s progress!
The TL;DR version: Tanjiro’s Legendary Kindness(™) might just transform Inosuke.
we got some fanservice though…
It’s really the last minutes that brought what I’ve been waiting for, for a few weeks now. Nezuko’s glorious and adorable return. I was so thrilled to see her. And just before she got back, there was a quiet and touching moment between Tanjiro and Zenitsu. It was lining up to be the best scene in the episode and… Zenitsu completely ruined it again.
He wasn’t very easy to follow but I think he was implying that Tanjiro joined the Demon Slayer Corp so that he could get a cute demon girlfriend and carry her around with him which is a weird conclusion to jump to, at best…
But it’s the kind of conclusion a male of Zenitsu’s temperament would jump to! In high school, within my group of friends, if one of them managed to get a girlfriend, the rest would hassle him about it. Heck, look at Issei Hyoudou’s friends from High School DxD! They caught one glimpse of him with Rias Gremory and threatened him with bodily harm!
But you’re absolutely right: Seeing Nezuko emerge from the box was a beautiful moment. Given how terrified Zenitsu was of the opening box, when she emerged looking all adorable and stuff, all I could think was “Behold the terrifying demon! Tremble in her presence!”
In a wildly sarcastic way, of course.
boys are weird…
As it stands my favourite scene is the opening tag, which was a recap of the last episode so that should tell you something. I’m going to pretend that was a recap episode and just move on to the next one. On the upside, it still looked great!

A Murder of One

Chapter:
9
Summary:
Akiko shares her one brain cell with her new friend. Problems are solved, and a new face appears
Previous Chapter | Origin | Next Chapter
“ARE YOU STUPID?!”
“Wh- DON’T YELL!!”
“I’M YELLING BECAUSE YOU’RE STUPID!! STUPIDSTUPIDSTUPID!!!!!!”
Zenitsu cries out as Akiko hits him across the face with a pillow, eyes gleaming with murderous intent.
“Go ahead. Say it again.”
“You hIT ME!!”
Akiko lifts the pillow again and Zenitsu cowers away, hiding his face behind his baby hands. Akiko pauses, staring at his trembling figure all curled up under the covers of the bed before she bites back a laugh.
“DON’T LAUGH AT ME!!”
“You’re not helping- hEY GET OFF AND WIPE YOUR DAMN NOSE!”
The two go back and forth, yelling and bickering at each other. At some point, Kanon walks in to make sure no one is dying. She’s surprised to see Akiko acting so lively, shaking Zenitsu back and forth as he complains about the medicine and how stupid his friends are.
The two finally calm down after a while, panting with exhaustion after yelling so much. There’s lunch brought to the two of them, the smell of miso soup and cooked fish wafting through the air.
Akiko shoves bits of fish into his mouth, sipping her own miso as she watches him complain about fish bones.
“Nezuko wouldn’t be this mean…” Zenitsu mumbles under his breath before another bit of fish is shoved into his mouth, and he’s complaining all over again.
Akiko stops, replaying his words before her eyes widen, “Nezuko is ALIVE?!”
“Wow you’re really slow huh-”
“NO ONE SAID ANYTHING!”
“SHE’S IN THAT BOX OVER THERE! OW! STOP THROWING FISH BONES AT ME!”
Akiko rushes over to the box, about to open it, before she’s tugged back into Zenitsu’s chest.
“Nonononononono!! Don’t!! You’ll kill my precious Nezuko!”
“There is no way you’re dating the beauty of my hometown.”
“Y’know? You’re really mean.”
“Just get back into bed and tell me why my in-law is crammed in a box.”
Zenitsu doesn’t cut corners with his explanation, even though they both know that this story is for Tanjirou to tell. Either way, Akiko drinks it up in silence, face calm despite the severity of the problem.
He can hear the gears in Akiko’s mind work. They grind slower throughout his explanation, and when they come to a halt he stops talking as well. He’s done with his explanation anyway.
“Sorry, was that too much?”
“No, I’m just finding my place in the social hierarchy of his mind.”
Zenitsu tears up, “You’re mean to yourself too…”
Akiko sighs to herself. She understands that Nezuko is important, but not even one letter? She wants to be mad but the amount of energy it takes to feel frustration is taxing.
“I don’t think you left Tanjirou’s mind for even a second.”
Sunlight meets amber and they both realize that their eyes are mirrors of each other. Akiko’s eyes soften and she smiles pitifully, whether for herself or for Zenitsu’s bold statement, he doesn’t know.
“And what makes you say that?” Her eyes break their shared gaze and she casts them down to her slightly worn hands. She’s rubbing the calluses, but Zenitsu covers her hands with his own blister worn ones.
“Well… All you gotta do…” He taps his ear, smiling at Akiko, “is listen.”
“...If you tried to look cool just now it didn’t work. I’m not going to fall for you. Also, don’t hold my hands, it’s creepy.”
“YOU’RE REALLY MEAN, YOU KNOW?”
Akiko leaves before Inosuke and Tanjirou come back from their recovery training. Zenitsu is waiting patiently for them, and his worry increases ten folds at the broken state they’re in.
“What happened? What’s wrong? Hey!”
Tanjirou just crawls into his bed, covering himself with blankets and looking away from his friend. A soft, “Sorry,” is all Zenitsu hears and he starts to lose his mind.
“...Hey… Zenitsu? ...Why do you smell like Akiko?”
The next day, Akiko sees Zenitsu yelling at the two other boys for something. She can’t tell what about, since she’s so far away, but he looks rather pissed. So she returns to picking a couple herbs in the garden, dirting her hands a bit.
For some reason, all of the laundry has been done. Actually, they’ve been done for the past week. Akiko can’t tell if there’s someone else in the estate that she isn’t aware of. When she asked Kanon earlier in the morning, Kanon said that the estate gets a bunch of visitors that Akiko has never been aware of.
So now she feels guilty. The kakushi and the girls in the estate are her only friends, since they’re the ones she talks to the most. She knows a few demon hunters, but about half of the guys don’t acknowledge her skills as a doctor. But it’s not like she can just let them bleed out on her table.
Akiko walks back into the kitchen to give Kanon some vegetables for dinner, and Kanon offers Akiko a smile. There’s no real emotion behind the smile, and Akiko knows that Kanon is still trying to heal. Haruki still hasn’t woken up yet, and it’s been three years.
“So… We have a visitor?” Akiko asks, and she’s given a cup of tea. Kanon works by the sink to wash the vegetables off, nodding her head slightly to answer Akiko’s question.
“She’s been doing most of the chores since Aoi and the other girls are busy helping the other three. She’s also been taking care of Nezuko.”
Akiko throws her hands up into the air, “Seriously, what’s up with no one telling me things?”
Kanon stops washing the vegetables before turning to look at Akiko. The feeling of a lecture creeps up onto Akiko.
“In everyone else’s defense, you always lock yourself in your OR and your room. And you only ever come out to make your rounds. And even then, you haven’t stepped a foot into the ward Tanjirou stays in unless he isn’t there.”
Ouch.
Right through the heart.
Akiko sighs in defeat, nodding her head solemnly, “Yeah, ok, I get it. I’m annoying.”
“I didn’t say that.”
Akiko pouts, crossing her arms across her chest. She hates the dense pressure on her chest, and she hates the fact that the world seems to be against her. It’s not fair.
Kanon looks at Akiko fondly, her younger sister figure acting like a brat. It’s a known fact that Akiko will either act mature beyond her years or like a baby with Kanon. And Kanon accepts that because Akiko plays pretend for too long each and every day.
A hand rests itself on Akiko’s slightly curled locks, and Akiko whines in protest, her hair ruffled up now. Kanon doesn’t stop, and Akiko doesn’t shove her away.
“Hey, Kanon, can you make some rice balls with umeboshi in them?”
Tanjirou smells Akiko before he smells the rice balls.
He’s on his way back to his room with Zenitsu and Inosuke, all three completely drenched and smelling horrid of the medicine bath. He catches sight of Akiko in another spare room, sitting by an empty bed with a tray of rice balls and a towel in her hand. There’s a glass of water by the bedside.
He tilts his head in confusion at her lonely figure before Zenitsu nudges him in through the door. He stumbles, tripping over his feet before apologizing when he sees that Akiko is looking at him.
“Ah, I- I can leave if you want…”
Akiko smiles solemnly before shaking her head and patting the bed in front of her.
“I owe you a talk.”
Tanjirou timidly crawls into the bed and she beckons him closer, towel in hand. When he realizes that she’s going to dry his hair off for him, he blushes lightly, but complies anyway.
They’re quiet, the sound of ruffling hair filling their silence before Tanjirou hears his stomach growl a bit.
“Here,” Akiko hands him the tray, done drying his hair. “I hope it’s still your favorite.”
Tanjirou smiles brightly at her, thanking her before eating his fill. He doesn’t mind that Akiko is staring at his hands, she seems to be in deep thought. So he’ll wait patiently for her.
“How… How does your jaw feel?”
Akiko sees his mouth twitch, almost as if reliving the pain, and guilt washes over her.
“Sorry, I should’ve given you a painkiller,” she rushes to apologize, but he waves it off.
“It feels a lot better now though!”
Awkward silence.
Akiko wants to drown in embarrassment.
“Um,” Tanjirou starts, gently taking her hands into his own. He feels her flinch and he’s about to pull away, but she grips back and he can smell pain. It hurts to hold his hand, but she won’t let go, so Tanjirou has to choose his next words carefully.
“You’re different now, Akiko.”
Her heart shatters, mind racing to the worst things imaginable. She’s different and the marriage won’t work. She’s different and she doesn’t need to rely on him. She’s different and-
“You can probably protect me from death now!”
Akiko falls backwards into her memories. Every time Tanjirou would lead her into the forest or her grandparent’s garden, he would claim to protect her because she’s his fiance. And she would blindly agree, no skill set readily available to her and willing to follow every word he says.
Tanjirou feels her hand tighten around his, and his heart flutters with glee. She’s smiling softly now, actually smiling with her eyes twinkling like the sun rise.
Words slowly start to tumble out between the two, Tanjirou explaining what’s been happening the past three years before Akiko returns the favor. The stories unfold and nothing is hidden anymore. Akiko delivers her insecurities to Tanjirou and the bodies that have died in her hands.
Tanjirou does the same, and Akiko listens.
She learns that he has been sending letters, and when wondering why she’s never received any she finds that he’s been sending them all to the Tamura estate.
Deep hatred grows within her and she damn near starts to throw a few things across the room.
All because her grandmother doesn’t like the idea of Tanjirou getting married to Akiko, so Akiko had to live through three years of pain and grief.
“If I’m going to be honest… I thought you would have gotten married by now,” Tanjirou laughs, but it’s hollow and Akiko realizes that he’s pulled this feeling up from the depths of his mind. She sits back down, fury erased for the sake of her fiance.
“Now why would you say that?”
He thumbs her short hair, staring at the locks as Akiko feels a bit self conscious. She’s always had long, straight hair, and only started cutting her hair whenever she was met with death. Her parents were shocked when she came back home to Tokyo, but she fit right in with all the westerners and modern women in the city.
She doesn’t know if Tanjirou likes the idea of her being a moga now, but he seems more confused if anything.
“I don’t know a single thing about city life, and you look so comfortable with it. I would never get a letter back from you, so I thought that you moved on.”
“What about me crying last week, thinking you were dead?”
“Ah, I didn’t want to interrupt you…”
“...You’re too nice for your own good, Tanjirou.”
And so they continue their conversation, trading stories back and forth. Their fingers remain intertwined, and he splits his last rice ball for Akiko.
Akiko notices how his hair is shorter than when she last saw him, and she’s sad that it isn’t long enough to be tied into a ponytail. His scar has developed and looks deeper now, but there’s something odd about it. Akiko can see that his body is healing, and that he still has time to grow up with her.
Tanjirou can smell the antibiotic from her. It’s strong, and she doesn’t smell like western pastries or paper anymore. But her voice moves from silk to velvet, and her eyes continue to glimmer like the amber his father brought home one day. They hold stories of the lives she’s saved and lost, and he can smell the younger Akiko in this grown up form.
Their attention is turned away from each other when they both notice Nezuko rush into the room, her body small before she jumps into the bed that Tanjirou is in.
“Ah, you came to visit me Nezuko!”
Akiko blinks in surprise, wondering why Nezuko is so small before remembering that Nezuko is a demon now. The same thing that kills and injures her patients. But Nezuko looks the same, and Akiko can’t find any hatred in her heart despite the knowledge that she should.
“Uh, sorry about that. She got excited,” Another voice interrupts.
Akiko sees a woman a bit older than herself. Piercing blue eyes that can freeze over a village, but a smile so warm that Akiko feels like she’s within the arms of her mother. The blush on her cheeks and nose is all the more visible due to her pale skin, and it’s thanks to Akiko’s trained eye that she sees the small jets of mist that leaves the woman’s mouth every time she breathes.
Tanjirou smiles her, “Don’t worry Miyuki! Oh, I haven’t introduced you two yet.”
This Miyuki woman maintains eye contact with Akiko, and Akiko can see the strength behind Miyuki’s small figure.
“I don’t think we have met. I’m Himi Miyuki, but please call me Miyuki or Miyu!”
Akiko nods her head before smiling, no really sure as to how she’s supposed to interact with Miyuki. She looks like a Pillar, and she’s never had to fix her injuries so Akiko assumes that she’s one of the stronger Pillars. But then again, it’s rare that Akiko ever has to heal a Pillar.
“I’m Tamura Akiko. Akiko is fine.”
Another awkward silence. Nezuko doesn’t seem bothered, enjoying the head pats she’s receiving from her brother as she hums with delight.
Akiko doesn’t mean to be rude, but her mind tunes out most noises until she picks up the word “mission.” Immediately, she feels like she’s free falling through the air, and her grip on Tanjirou’s hand tightens a bit.
Tanjirou looks at her with concern before quickly moving the topic elsewhere, and she’s thankful that he can read her emotions so well.
“Ah! Miyuki!” Aoi bursts through the open doorway, face red and looking irritated. Akiko tilts her head in confusion and Miyuki looks at a loss too.
“Sanemi is looking for you and he’s being very aggressive so could you please handle him!”
Akiko doesn’t know who this Sanemi is, but Tanjirou looks down at Nezuko protectively despite the smile on his face. She has to assume that something bad happened.
Miyuki rushes out of the room and Nezuko stays. Tanjirou looks at Akiko with a soft smile on his face, peace in his heart, and they start to talk again. Nezuko dozes off, listening to the voices of the two people she loves most.
In the other room, Zenitsu smiles.
He can hear the wind chimes and the soft combing of tresses, the humming enjoyed by two and the extra lunch eaten down to the last rice bit. The boat is docked nearby, dancing with the gentle waves, and the sailor feels warm with their head in their lover’s lap.

Chapter:
13
Summary:
They cute oa whateva
Previous Chapter | Origin | Next Chapter
Tanjirou and Akiko take their time learning about each other all over again.
He’s coming back from a solo mission with a handful of fish he just caught and he’s excited to cook it for Akiko. Upon seeing her patiently wait for him at the front gate, he smiles and rushes up to her.
“Look! I brought us some fish! I can cook for you tonight,” he smiles innocently, but Akiko looks distraught.
She actually shrinks from the fish, which is odd considering the fact that she used to love fish.
“Ah, sorry… I don’t eat any meat anymore, Tanjirou.”
“E- Eh? Really?”
Akiko nods her head, “I haven’t been able to eat meat since I came to the Butterfly Estate. I actually, uh… I physically want to throw up when I put meat in my mouth…” Tanjirou can tell that it probably has to do with the fact that she shifts through organs daily, so he doesn’t comment.
He smiles anyway, hiding the fish behind his back, “That’s okay! I’ll cook some for Inosuke then! I know he likes fish.”
Akiko’s lonely for half a day when Tanjirou comes back from another solo mission.
She doesn’t have any more patients, and Aoi says that she’ll willing to stay in charge of the estate if Akiko decides to leave with Tanjirou and explore the town nearby.
When he comes home, she rushes out to greet him, a smile on her face before jumping into his arms after seeing that he has no injuries. He squeezes her close, stealing a quick whiff of antibiotic before setting her down to her feet.
“I- I have time off today! Do you want to go into town with me?”
But when he looks troubled, she glances down to her hands.
“Sorry Akiko, but it might be best that we stay at the estate. What if someone is rushed in and they need you?”
Makes sense, but Akiko wants to be selfish.
She nods nonetheless, and they spend their time entrapped in the estate together.
But it’s days where Tanjirou comes home with an orange that he picked off a tree, laughing as he says that they look like her eyes only for Akiko to laugh too because, “They look nothing like my eyes- pfft, stop it- haha!” that Tanjirou feels happiest.
Or days where Tanjirou gets to rest his head on Akiko’s stomach as they both nap under the sunlight in the garden, Tanjirou reaching up to wrap his hand around Akiko’s.
Tanjirou’s abs get in the way of being a nice headrest, and Akiko complained once that it felt like sleeping on the wooden floor. He took it as a compliment, despite Akiko blushing and telling him that he wasn’t supposed to.
They come up with new routines, a new rhythm. One much more complex than the one they were used to when they were kids.
Because now their worlds are so much bigger, and for the best too.
They’re busy and their work is important, but they still value the time that they share.
Tanjirou waits for her to finish her shower after she’s done with long operations, and they share the same futon when they sleep.
Akiko waits patiently by the entrance gate, a first aid kit, snacks and tea ready for the two of them inside for when Tanjirou returns home.
And while they spend their time together, either Miyuki or Zenitsu spends time with Nezuko. Either that, or they both do.
Akiko is wearing his haori and eating some dorayaki Tanjirou brought home, the two lazily cloud watching in silence.
She’s talking about the mist pillar now, and how he would cloud watch for hours in the middle of a mission.
“I don’t even think I was there to make sure he didn’t die by the hands of an Upper Moon… I was probably just there to make sure he didn’t trip over roots and skewer himself with his katana,” Akiko sighs, and Tanjirou bursts out into laughter.
She wraps herself up within the sight of his smile, the smell of his haori and the sound of his laugh.
Sometimes, Akiko doesn’t talk to Tanjirou for days. She doesn’t receive any letters, but it doesn’t bother her too much anymore.
And even when he is at the Butterfly Estate, Akiko might be shut in the OR for half a day saving someone’s life.
So she’ll find random things in her room at times. Tanjirou’s gifted her some flowers he found on his way back, and he’s gifted her an omamori from one of the local temples despite the fact that she isn’t one to believe in gods and spirits.
She probably should, though, considering the fact that demons run amok.
One day, Tanjirou returns with a book in hand.
He was walking through town when a small bookstore caught his eye, and he remembered the promise he made Hanako the day she was killed. So he bought a book, intending to read it to Akiko in Hanako’s stead.
“Akiko! Are you free later tonight?” Tanjirou smiles at her, and Akiko sees the book in his hand. She’s quick to understand his intentions, and she flushes at the idea before shooting him down.
“I- uhm, I have to monitor a patient tonight, actually… They might run into some complications tonight, so I have to make sure they’re not dead by tomorrow morning…”
Tanjirou slumps at the idea, but he understands that her work is important and he leaves it be. Perhaps he can read to Nezuko instead. Zenitsu might volunteer to read to his sister though.
Akiko is drinking tea by the patient late at night when Aoi walks in, surprised to see Akiko by the patient’s bedside.
“Isn’t Tanjirou back? Why aren’t you with him?” She wonders aloud, setting down some medicine for another patient. Akiko remains calm as always, her back straight as she observes the breathing pattern and heart rate of the patient.
Aoi quickly takes notice of what Akiko is doing and she rolls her eyes, standing next to Akiko’s seated form.
“I’ll take over for tonight, so just go to him!”
With widened eyes, Akiko starts to sputter protests, but Aoi is quick to retort, “If you’re worried about the patient I’ll ask Kanao to help too! Her eyes are better than mine anyhow…”
“Oh? So now you just want to spend time with Kanao, huh?”
Now it’s Aoi turn to sputter her protests, and Akiko chuckles warmly before giving her seat up for Aoi. She goes to call for Kanao, who nods with a smile before leaving her room to spend some time with Aoi.
Akiko prepares herself for bed, changing into a thin kimono for her sleepwear and washing her face. Akiko sees Kanon seated by her brother’s bedside as she walks down the hallway, and her heart twinges with pain.
They should be getting a new thing that monitors brain waves soon, since scientists in Europe continue to make new inventions. Akiko is excited to officially start running some tests on Haruki.
She hopes that Kanon can hold on for just a bit longer.
Akiko quietly raps the shoji of Tanjirou’s room, and when she hears a quiet “come in,” she does as she’s told. Tanjirou brightens at the sight of her, and she takes notice that Nezuko isn’t in the same room.
“Ah, sorry… Is now a bad time? You can sleep if you want,” Akiko mumbles, and she’s surprised that Tanjirou can even hear her.
He takes her hands into his and Akiko looks up at him in surprise, only to see that he’s smiling brilliantly despite the dimly lit room.
“It’s never a bad time! You can come in whenever you’d like,” he says, and Akiko nods her head. She’s screaming inside, of course, but she won’t let him see that. He can probably smell it off of her though.
“Well, uhm, Aoi and Kanao took my shift for tonight, so if you want I can… I can stay with you tonight…”
Akiko has to shield her eyes when he smiles even brighter, and he leads her into his room. He dives into the futon first, opening the covers to let her in too, then grabs a nearby book.
He doesn’t even have to ask if he can read for her, and she gets comfortable by nestling her head into the crook of his neck, half her body draped over his as her eyelashes tickle his cheek. Tanjirou doesn’t mind having to read the book above his head, and he’s glad he has the arm strength for it.
So he reads to her for the night, eyes straining to read certain words due to the awful lighting. He can tell that she struggles to stay awake, but he only finishes a chapter and a half before she’s out like a light.
Akiko snores lightly and Tanjirou stops, looking down at her body before creasing the corner of the page and setting the book by his side. He’ll have to continue it next time, but for now he wraps his arms around Akiko’s waist and shuts his eyes with a smile on his face.
Zenitsu wakes the two up the next morning with his ungodly screaming.
“KIDDING ME!! YOU GUYS ARE KIDDING ME!!! I’M GONNA HURL YOU TWO ARE TOO SWEET WITH EACH OTHER!!!”
Akiko yeets a pillow at his face hard enough to knock the poor boy over before she turns over to go back to sleep in Tanjirou’s arms. Tanjirou laughs at his friend before holding a finger to his lips.
“Akiko works hard, Zenitsu. So be quiet please?”
“Eh?” Zenitsu starts to complain, “But I’m injured! See? I have a bruise from my last mission! And they’re telling me to go out again! I need Akiko to help me and another couple strands of Nezuko’s hair-”
The room suddenly gets colder and Zenitsu freezes when he sees the slightly annoyed look on Miyuki’s face. She stands right behind the boy and sets a chilly hand on his shoulder.
“Let’s let the lovebirds rest for today, hm? I’ll help you in Akiko’s stead, Zenitsu. But you aren’t getting any of Nezuko’s hair.”
Zenitsu allows himself to be pulled away from the resting couple, happy that another pretty lady will be the one to help him. Tanjirou sighs in relief before looking down at Akiko, who continues to snore away.
A couple days later, when all three boys are back at the estate, Aoi has them doing pushups in the backyard. Akiko waves Shinobu off on her mission before walking on back, startled to see Kiyo, Sumi and Naho sitting on each of the boys.
Akiko looks at Aoi warily, “Is this really okay for them to do?”
Aoi scoffs, “This is nothing, trust me.”
When Kiyo looks up from counting, she smiles, “Akiko-san!” Kiyo waves, and Akiko startles when three heads snap up to look at her.
“AKIKO SAVE MEEEE!!!!! I’M DYING!!!!” Zenitsu cries and Akiko almost enjoys looking down at his agonizing face. Inosuke continues to scream and yell his own praises, while Tanjirou counts how many push ups they have left.
Tanjirou smiles when he sees his fiance, and she’s about to turn around to go back to the medical ward when Kiyo calls out, “Akiko-san! Would you like to take my place?”
Akiko nearly chokes on her own spit at the thought and Zenitsu starts to cry blood at the thought.
“I- uh… I have to go check on some patients!” Akiko flushes, pointing behind her while chewing at her lip in embarrassment. She’s about to turn around and run off when Aoi garbs the back collar of her blouse, and Akiko struggles for air.
“Good idea Kiyo. Tanjirou looks like he can use some extra weight on him.”
Akiko glares down at Aoi, who casually looks the other direction. But for some reason, Inosuke throws a fit and demands that Akiko sit on him instead.
So now both Kiyo and Naho sit on Inosuke, Akiko sitting seiza style on Tanjirou’s back with her face in her hands as Tanjirou does his pushups.
“Are you comfortable?” Tanjirou asks, counting from 43.
Akiko keeps her eyes shut, and in a high pitched voice that Tanjirou has never heard from her, she mumbles, “Just keep doing your pushups…”
And he laughs at her, and Zenitsu continues to cry and Inosuke’s energy skyrockets and Aoi watches everyone fondly.
Akiko is happy.
