It’s November, and around my house that means I’m getting into gear with all of my Holiday and Winter Cards! This time of year is always rough for me, but one thing that always makes me happy are Christmas and Winter cards. This is my 9th year doing this, which is hard to believe, but I’m crazy excited to be able to continue the tradition this year, and I'm doing so with something new!

The cards are in the process of being made entirely by me, as always, but this year I'm also trying my hand at watercolors so every card will be unique with a bit of art that is hopefully not horrible adorning the front hehe

I'm still making them, but the rainbow trees in the banner are a preview of the art that will be featured on most of the cards and then I will add my personalized messages and send them filled with all of my love and good vibes! I can't do that without some important information from YOU though! So...

WANT A CARD? HURRAY! Here's how it works.

As stated above, I'm still working on the cards and they might not be sent out in time for Christmas, but they will all be mailed, I promise! haha

Through the rest of the month of November and maybe a little into December, I’ll gather addresses and finish the cards so I can start writing out the cards ASAP. Life happens, so the cards might not all make it to you before the new year, but I’m going to try my best to make it happen! Even if my goal of mailing them in early December doesn’t happen, you’ll definitely get a card at some point if you claim one.

HERE’S WHAT I NEED FROM YOU.

I’ll be collecting addresses using this google form. It’s pretty straight forward, but on the form I will be asking for:

Your address (I will mail them internationally). PLEASE write it out exactly as you would on an envelope, line breaks and all! I’ve had some cards get returned to me in the past because I guessed where the line breaks should be, and I guessed incorrectly, so to avoid that I’d love it if you could tell me where the line breaks are

The name you want me to use for the address as well as the name you would like me to write inside the card. For many, the name will be the same, but for others, it will be different, so to account for that, I’ll have an option for both.

Your tumblr URL. This is just so I can reach out to you if there are any issues.

Your preference in card. I will mostly be making rainbow pride trees affixed to Christmas or winter themed paper, but in case you need your cards to be holiday and rainbow free, I am going to be attempting some winter tree cards as well.

And that’s it! There aren’t any other stipulations or requirements. We don’t need to be mutuals, you don’t even need to be following me or in the fandom tbh. You just need to want a homemade card from me to hopefully bring you some cheer!

The main modding responsibilities include:

Gathering album information into the planning spreadsheet.

Taking that information and drafting the posts to queue them.

Less importantly, helping keep track of links for posted polls and copying over the poll results.

These can largely be completed independently, aside from any obvious ordering restrictions (can't queue a post if you don't have the data put together), so if, for any reason, you're only able to do one of the first two on a temporary or even permanent basis, it would still be a lot of help.

In terms of technological requirements, all information can be accessed on websites free-of-charge, two require a (free) account to get access to the album images, and everything can be done strictly in-browser if needed. We do use Google Sheets for the planning sheet, but I don't think you need a Google account to edit/access it. I do not think this is something that is reasonable to do on mobile, so you would need access to a desktop/laptop computer.

I think things can be made considerably easier if you can use some non-browser programs. I personally use a Windows 10 computer + Firefox for my own workflow, but things aren't impossible without it for sure! There's always more than one way to do things. I have no idea what potential difficulties may occur for someone who is a Mac + Safari user, for instance. Oh! And in terms of communication, Discord is best, so it would be helpful if that's something you use as well!

Also we're all here to have fun so like this isn't a job much less a role with strict expectations, so it doesn't have to be like a primary responsibility for you or anything like that!

Also apologies if I take a bit to get back to anyone who does send a message! I'm multitasking between my job and some other obligations so I might not see any notifications right away, and I need to coordinate adding any new mods with my co-mod so there might be a bit of waiting involved unfortunately!! Ok so that's obviously a joke. Nothing could stop me from drawing them. But I have never drawn anyone more....it was kind of exhausting, but fun! I think you can tell I really have improved upon my style in about a year (a little bit more because of a hiatus, but y'know). If you scroll back last year (DO NOT), you can definitely see changes every day. I also got progressively hornier over William, which is a little embarrassing considering I also realized I was aspec during this time. HAHA

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I've been feeling a bit down recently.

Honestly, I was surprised when I read what you wrote. I had no idea anything of that was going on in Twitter at all.

I don't know whether to feel glad there are enough Dokjoong shippers to advocate for the ship even if it's in a bad way, or to not feel good because even though there are more Dokjoong shippers than I thought, they are doing something not good.

One reason could be though that JoongDok fans tend to objectify KDJ, for example they even call him 'whoreja' (which I don't like), and some people may not like that. DokJoong fans at least don't do that with Yoo Joonghyuk.

When I searched the Dokjoong tag on Twitter, there was barely anything.

My experience shipping DokJoong has been rather fulfilling but also lonely. JoongDok is the much more popular pairing so it can feel a bit lonely shipping DokJoong at times. I didn't know there were enough Dokjoong shippers somewhere else to fight for the Dokjoong pairing, honestly.

I asked that question cause in a previous fandom, I was doing analyses like I do for DokJoong, for that pairing in the previous fandom, and out of nowhere I got someone saying 'Hey I used to be a hater of the pairing 4 years ago but your analyses are really convincing and make sense and I turned from a hater of the ship to embracing it being canon.'

Then when I see the views on my Dokjoong A03 fics sometimes, well..........so for example, a fic can have 2500+ views, and I wonder, 'Is there even that many Dokjoong shippers around? I thought it's an unpopular pairing. Did I make people like Dokjoong with my analyses or something?'

That's why I asked that question. I was curious. Last time I had about 1000+ followers and I helped a person like the pairing when they initially did not like it, unintentionally, so I wondered if the same thing could be happening. So I asked, but I guess not haha.

That pairing Shizaya was so popular it was like JoongDok, but this time the pairing I like and am doing analyses for isn't popular.

That was in my other account...I wanted a new start so I created a new account and named myself bottomjoonghyuk for a not serious url name.

Anyway, it's sad people are forcing others to like a certain character, from what you've said. I haven't experienced anything like that at all, the closest to something like that, that I've experienced, is when I said I don't really like Han Sooyoung all that much but I haven't read the epilogue, then people said I should read the epilogue because she has great character development, I'd understand then, like I'd like Han Sooyoung then, it was a little pushy but nothing like what is going on in Twitter.

So yeah.......my experience shipping Dokjoong is totally different, even a little lonely at times so I don't know what to tell you lol. Totally understand if you're taking a break off social media though.

I actually have a bunch of jewelry I almost never take off, some because of the piercing itself and others because I just don't feel like myself without it at this point. I have an anklet and wear rings on 4 fingers that I have on all the time, and then my cartilage and septum piercings stay in all the time too.

The rings are from a bunch of different places I've traveled to so they're sentimental, and the anklet is a bracelet that my grandmother gave me before she passed that didn't fit my wrist haha.

i dont think i do. but if i had to mention one, i would go with the fates from hadestown. i know they are more of anti-hero, neutral character, but the way they are portrayed comes across as playful and even daring when pushing the other characters to their limit is soooo fun. their songs in the musical are so good as well. i know they aren’t villains, but they also seem pretty shameless with their behavior, so that’s why I’m mentioning them!

i dont have a specific aesthetic in my room. if anything, i just try to make it look and be cozy as well as having bits of me around it. i feel that if you were to look around it, you would know a little more about me: my favorite colors, my hobbies, my music tastes, etc. actually, the main colors on my page (the brown and blue) are the main colors, each being the base and accent respectively. i do put a a lot of stuff in my wall—pictures, drawings, stickers, places i've been too, and such.

i try to make my room look as close as to who i feel i am to be comfortable in it.

Happy birthday!!! Yay I'm glad your voice is a little bit better but it's also funny to me that I have no idea what it even sounds like either..as many times as you've talked about it. It's one of the weird things about just talking online. For me, I get in the habit of just thinking everyone sounds like me haha jk. Also your crafty painting looks good! So I can't remember if you're 26 or 27 today..but a fun fact is that Paramore has a song called 26 and Fall Out Boy also has a song called 27! I actually just became aware of the 27 one this year lol and have only heard it like twice but still! I also learned of a song called 24 this year by Switchfoot when Tyler Joseph of twenty one pilots covered it. So there are songs from 22 to 27 and I find that so cool. Right where you left me wasn't out when I turned 23..although I really could've used it back then and Nothing New but I had 23 by Jimmy Eat World which is one of the best most favorite songs ever! Also Blink 182...lol. And the pretty reckless, Taylor Momsen's band has a song called 25. But since we were just talking about Paramore and Fall Out Boy, I thought I would share! The only thing is..I'm not sure they even mention a lyric in the song..I think it's just the title. I hope you are liking their first album and the songs I recommended..but I'm glad you're going in order. Let me know what you think but also take your time! I'm sorry if the list of songs I recommended seemed overwhelming..I just love a lot of their songs.

So in a new quote Hayley Williams talked about how Taylor originally wanted her to sing on a different vault song and now I'm so curious which one it was. Possibly Electric Touch or I can See You. If it was I Can See You, that wouldve been awesome but I'm also happy with Castles Crumbling too. When we first heard I Can See You, my sister said the song fit Fall Out Boy more and he should have sang on that one instead of Electric Touch but the collabs are so good. I also suspected maybe it was Drama Queen cuz Hayley said she didn't connect to it or the sound that much..idk. but it makes me happy it was her choice cuz a lot of Paramore fans were complaining at first that Hayley didn't get to sing or show her vocals enough. I love their friendship and will be happy when they are back on tour together.

Wow it does seem like a lot of vinyls but think of it as a treat to yourself. I've never understood having a vinyl for one song though..I find that so interesting lol. You mostly have good taste and it seems like it makes you happy. Also..I like the new url and I'm definitely going to listen to the Fruitcake EP next week closer to Christmas! So I did not get a chance to watch the Eras movie yet but hopefully soon. But I did see the pics Taylor posted of her bday and I loved her outfit sooo much! She looked so good and really happy. Anyway I think today is also the day the CATS movie came out and I went to see it cuz I was soo excited my two worlds were colliding. Did you ever watch the movie..lol. I know some people were unhappy with it but I thought it was fine..I think people just don't get the musical, and it didn't really translate as a movie or onscreen at all. But I loved the musical with the costumes when I saw it last year and I like a lot of the songs. I'm pretty sure Today is also the day I watched La La Land for the first time too!!! Big day for my worlds colliding! I can't remember if you watched it..but that movie was literally made for me and loved up to my expectations! Now Taylor confirmed the choreographer from La La Land was recommended by Emma and she wanted something more theatrical for this tour..so I'm excited to pay attention to it more when I watch the movie! stuff like focusing on different dancers throughout will be interesting.

Omg I think I forgot to ask you your favorites on Folklore and Evermore! So please tell me and I will try to answer your question. I don't think my rankings have changed much, but I loved the rerecordings and it especially made me appreciate Speak Now more. For me, I don't spend a lot of time replaying full albums and her older music feels too nostalgic so I don't really hear it so I always put it last..sorry but that's the only reason. I guess I just prefer her newer stuff more. I think it would be Folklore, Rep, Red, Lover, Midnights, Evermore, Speak Now, 1989, Fearless, Debut. mean girls could be fun! i was supposed to see taylor louderman's last matinee, but then had to sell my ticket to a friend (i was ... hungover) and then missed it when it was in seattle on tour! i'm quite curious about the movie though.

i turn 26 today! which is quite horrifying! trying not to think too much about the birthday scaries! i started listening to some fall out boy too — i listened to the so much (for) stardust album twice, and i really liked it! i definitely need to listen to it more so i know the lyrics for the concert, but i'm really excited now especially since i know i like a lot of the songs! i will go listen to 26 by paramore in a bit 🤍 i was using "25 years old, oh how were you to know" from dancing with our hands tied and "i was 25 and afraid to go outside a millennial that baby-boomers like" from give yourself a try! you are totally fine! i was talking to a friend (who also loves paramore + FOB) about my quest to get into their music and how i usually listen to albums on my walks with toto! but we get distracted a lot (we usually run into neighbors and such) but it's been fun!

i could see hayley on either of those songs! and i do think (from my brief FOB knowledge) that patrick would also sound really good on i can see you! i think it's really interesting that the same thing happened with lana — fans were like "there's not a lot of them on here", and then it turned out to be their own choice!

i've been seeing a lot about the new theories and i'm definitely curious! andddd yes i did see the cats movie (at home) and i... am not a cats the musical fan haha. we actually have beef. my mom and i saw it on tour and someone broke into my mom's car during it and i have been like 😡 that's the show where my mom's car got broken into 😡 ever since. but the dancing/choreo in that show is beautiful, and i loved the taylor song for it! i did watch la la land! i was reading about the mandy moore interview yesterday and thought that was so cool!

ooh i think my favorites on folklore are: cardigan, mirrorball, this is me trying, and peace, and then on evermore: marjorie, right where you left me, cowboy like me, coney island and long story short! </33333 everyone's least favorite is always debut 😭 my top three are: debut, red, and speak now, and then i think folklore, fearless, and evermore, then lover, midnights, 1989, and then reputation. i'm not quite sure of the middle rankings but i am also confident in my top three and last three!

hey! your books are beautiful! could you share a bit of your process on binding? how do you decide which fic to bind? how do you plan your cover and typeset design etc. thank you

heck yeah i can!! i'm putting this under a readmore because it's so long haha

**this may go without saying but this is just how i personally choose works to bind - i'm sure everyone's process is different.

I only bind fics that like. REALLY stand out to me. I have read an uncountable number of works in my life but my to-bind list only has 5 things on it. It's a combination of: 1) It has to be a really good quality work - characterization I agree with, an interesting plot or insightful observations of character, and I love most of all when I haven't read anything like it before. 2) If it hits all those criteria AND I have a strong idea for a book design while I'm reading it or thinking about it later then it's a good candidate for binding!

For me, the choosing of a fic and the design of the finished book (90% of the time) go completely hand-in-hand - I'll be reading a fic and imagining it as a book at the same time. What design motifs occur through the story that could translate to a physical object? What's the vibe of the work? Is it a dark brooding emotional story or is it a fun happy rock climbing AU? Even before you start typesetting or designing the cover, these questions will inform the final design.

To give you a more specific example, I'll step through the design of one of my books so the whole process is outlined!

Even though No Fixed Ropes was only the second book I ever bound, the design is still one of my favorites! It's a rock climbing AU set in Yosemite in the 1970s... and already you can see that summary could inform a host of design decisions!

The vibe of the story is pretty fun - a little sad (times and people change over the years) but mostly happy (sometimes that's a good thing). The vibe of the story is the thing that informs my typesetting the most!! I set this work in Crimson Text, which to me is a font that has the same vibe as the story. It's a really nice serif font so you can take it seriously (because the POV character is very serious) but it's also a little round and soft and cute (because this story is about finding new friends and coming to terms with change in a soft and understanding way.)

This way of choosing a font will almost certainly be different for everyone! Some people might only use their favorite single font for every work they typeset; some people might say Crimson Text is inappropriate for use in a printed book since it was designed for the web - everyone has a different way of approaching typesetting, and this is mine! But every way is valid, especially if you're the only one reading your books.

For No Fixed Ropes, I wanted the book to have some 70s flair! I spent a lot of time on the website fontsinuse.com looking at book covers printed in the 70s. That's how I landed on Monoton as a secondary font, which I use for chapter headings and the title page. I found an old picture online of rocks in Yosemite, and that became my title page!

I also choose the cover paper based on the story! For No Fixed Ropes, I chose a paper that reminded me of the rocks in national parks. The paper is also made from recycled ropes, which was too perfect to pass up! The spine is covered in leather paper - this wasn't based on the story necessarily, but I needed a spine reinforcement and the black paper brought out the black lines in the cover paper and had a nice feel to it.

Another aspect to ficbinding is deciding what information you want to include in your bind. Since the works exist originally on the internet, there's a lot of info you can choose to include or not - there's the AO3 metadata (publication date, URL, ratings, warnings, etc); there's any information the author might have shared on social media (epilogues written as threadfics, a playlist they made for the character, etc); there's any number of things that are very easy to include on the internet that may not translate so well to a physical book.

Personally I don't find it necessary to include most of this stuff - I'm printing the work for myself and maybe the author and I don't like to clutter it with info I don't need. That being said, the one exception I will always make is for a playlist - I love to include the playlist link in a fun and thematic way!! For No Fixed Ropes, I put the Spotify link on a vintage Yosemite postcard, imagining an ending where the characters stay in touch with each other even though they're not together anymore.

From there it's just a matter of proofreading your text and putting it all together!

GET OUT OF MY INBOX. <333 I mean, I only talk to you like almost every day lol, and you’re one of the very first ppl who added me, so OFC YOU CAN ASK. <3 I’m tagging your main since that’s where we interact most, but you should know by now that I have the utmost admiration and !!! about literally everything you write. You not only made me love a completely original character (who should’ve been canon, as far as I’m concerned), but you also made me have a big ol’ soft spot for Abe. And as you know, that’s no easy feat since Turn!Abe made me want to throttle him on more than one occasion.

Your headcanons are insane. As in, insanely good, because they’re super long and fleshed-out and inventive, and I’m always in awe of how much time and effort you put into those. Your amount of research is very impressive and apparent in all of your threads, and I love getting to read about your characters’ little quirks and backstories (I remember the bit with Hewlett and his sister, in particular!). 

You’ve also helped me scar the dash with our various s.hame, so that’s always fun too lmao. Like, some of these k.inks are completely new territory for me on this page, so thank you from Ben (and sorry @ everyone else). I’ll go ahead and end it on that note, haha, but you’re seriously great, and I’m so glad you found me! <3

i just finished reading Iris: lady with the smartphone last night!!! ahhhhhh ;; im glad it was completed. it was really funny how a smartphone with no wifi and network works, but i guess thats how the magic stuff comes hahah

also really hated how stupid people can be and how theyre easily manipulated by nera 😡😡 im glad iris has a lot of support after time travelling (altho the ending felt a bit short) i was hoping for more iris x ian flirting stage haha since it got overshadowed by the revenge plot also ANAKIN!! his character just comes and goes that made me sad😔🙏🏻 his dad looks so cute too during the flashback ahhhh but all in all it was a nice read since i get to feel some hate for nera haha now i will read the next on your recs

Honestly I resisted reading this for the longest time because the premise just seemed so ridiculous. But then I got bored and half of it is already on Manta. Glad I did though since it ended up being such a unique isekai/time returner.

When I first read, it was just a few chapters away from the end so I had to buy the last few on TappyToon because I GOTTA KNOW. But yea one thing about these revenge plots I think is that the revenge is the main point. Haha. A lot of times the romance is just a secondary thing. “The Monstrous Duchess and the Contract Princess” is very similar in that aspect (without the time returning part)

But I think the little romance they have is really cute 🥰 Though… I’m still kind of confused at which point in the past life Ian *died*. Like… it had to be after Iris? But Iris said in the past life he died first? Maybe I’m dumb lol but ???

Also I giggle every time the *main tea party b*tch* is a ~blonde with the drill hairstyle~

i agree that disney songs definitely shouldn't be written with the intention that people will hear them before seeing the movie! i know some people do like to listen to the soundtracks of new disney movies before they see them, but i've actually always tried my best not to do that or hear any of the songs ahead of time because i prefer being surprised by them. so when i saw wish, all i'd heard was the snippet of "this wish" that was played in the trailers, and during the scene where at all costs played i was honestly so confused about the context of it that it was a little distracting. disney music should immerse you in the story and tell you something about the characters, not distract you because the situation the song is being used for doesn't seem to make sense...

oh yeah, i've heard that about the atlantis book! there's a blog on wordpress i found recently who did really detailed reviews of the different disney art books and they mentioned all of that about the atlantis one. i agree it's a huge shame, that movie seems to have such a fascinating world and i'd love to be able to learn more about it. another thing that disappoints me is there being no book for the emperor's new groove at all, though on the bright side at least the documentary for that movie is available online.

oh no, that must be so frustrating to keep missing out on getting to see the tarzan broadway show! i hope you get a chance to see it someday, and that you enjoy it when you do. i'll definitely have to find the time one of these days to at least listen to the cast recording myself. it's so interesting that it's popular in germany but not here... i wonder why that could be. i love that jane gets her own song, though. she's my favorite character from the movie (though of course i also love tarzan himself!) and i always thought it would be nice to have just a bit more insight into what she's thinking and feeling.

i remember reading that with rafiki, the director wanted to gender-swap him as well as give nala more focus because she thought the movie didn't have a strong enough leading female role. so i really do wonder why they'd change terk back into a guy, because something i always liked about the movie is the variety of different female characters in the movie between her, jane, and kala! and terk is really cool and unique for how she ended up breaking gender roles, but then you lose that element in the broadway show. if you do find anything about why they made that change i'd love to know.

Just read that article, and wow, that is so sad! I can't imagine how hard it must've been to see things go downhill like that, a having his ideas taken like that?! Poor guy.

I think Disney needs to slow down a moment and and look into their own history to see what they're supposed to be about. Thinking about how they try to put out so much so fast, and how they seem more invested in their acquired properties than original ideas. How important quality was to Walt, to the point that he nearly bankrupted the company on several occasions just for the sake of quality. Now it's all about the money… making money for the shareholders is far more important to them that making something they can actually be proud of.

That sounds like a really interesting blog! I think they kind of fell away from art books (and other merch in general) as the movies began "under performing". Such a shame because the early 2000s had such incredible and daring movies, and they basically got swept under the carpet.

I was talking to a friend in Germany, and she said the country just seems to like Tarzan in general, so maybe it's just a love of the character in any form that made it work there. I'm with you on Jane. I would have been so sad if she didn't get one. She actually has a song to herself, the duet with Tarzan, and a duet with Porter!

Kerchak also got his own song (as well as a duet with Kala). They really expanded Kerchak's character and I absolutely love them for that. While you understand his motives in the movie, they dig deeper in the musical, and make him a more rounded and sympathetic character.

That makes sense about Rafiki and expanding Nala (especially given lions are actually matriarchal). I'll have to dig out my Tarzan Broadway book and see if it says anything about Terk. I'm guessing because they took away Tantor and they figure people would be more able to accept Tarzan having a male friend.

As a fellow writer who also doesn’t get much feedback, I just wanna say please don’t get discouraged. I’m sure you know the whole “write for yourself first” bit. And that’s true. Write for yourself first. I understand that we all want validation of some sort. We create and put our hearts into these works. Again, keeping in mind to do this for ourselves first.

But there’s something special about having a regular (small) audience. Like those who love your work, they will come back time and time again. For me, these people hold a special place in my heart. I see their URL pop up when they reblog and comment. And I’m like “ohhhh… yes”. They read the thing and we talk about the stories. Of course, I appreciate all the other readers, too. Those who just stop by, read one of my works, and move on. That’s okay. But there are people out there, the regulars, who will gobble up everything you put out there. So if not writing for myself, I do it for those few hardcore “fans” who will hit like and reblog the second I put a new piece out. Even if it’s months later. Lol.

I’m rambling. I just wanted to say: don’t get discouraged. Keep writing.

And as someone who reads your works the second I see that there’s an update, thank you for sharing what is essentially a part of yourself, a part of your heart.

I so appreciate my little group of regulars and look forward to seeing their comments and reblogs.

Yesterday I cranked some tunes and sang along while I was making supper. I didn’t want to just crawl in bed as soon as I got home from work. I feel lighter and happier than I have in years and I think by me starting to write is the reason.

Parts of me definitely come through in my characters when I write (I try to be inclusive but I’m a little selfish haha). I never want to be a burden so I don’t really express my feelings well, and instead of talking about what’s bothering me, I just bottle things up. This has been a great outlet for that.

I still struggle (usually after a shitty day at work), so that’s when you’ll see some of the discouragement. But I am going to keep writing until I run out of ideas, for myself and my little fan club (you’re the real MVPs).
