Summary : Why would you ever kiss me? I'm not even half as pretty Warnings : a lil self doubt, there's a happy ending dont worry yall, fem! reader Notes : listenlistenlistenlisten......natasha romanoff. I REST MY CASE YOUR HONOR- (also i change some lyrics but shhshshshs) (also also not proof read)
Since you've joined the avengers, you caught Natasha's eye. You were kind, you were smart, your smile was contagious. Natasha fell for you, but you didn't seem to notice. You seemed to hang around Steve more than you did with Nat. Because, in Nat's eyes, you liked him better.
One night, Tony decided to throw a party. Was there a reason? No. Was there a reason needed? No, it's a Stark party.
Nat wore a black, off the shoulder cocktail dress with red heels to match her curled red hair. She made her rounds, saying 'hello' to everyone and making small talk. Eventually, she reached the bar and sat down. You hadn't showed up yet and Nat wanted to wait for you.
She wish she didn't.
When you did show up, you walked in with Steve. You had your arm wrapped around his and you two were laughing at a joke he had said. Your hair was pulled up, you wore a one-sleeved white dress, you were beautiful.
Natasha watched as you walked by. What a sight for sore eyes. You looked over and smiled at her, giving her a little wave. Your smile was brighter than the blue sky.
Then, you turned your attention back to Steve. The two of you went over to talk to Sam and Rhodey, and Nat sunk into her seat. He's got you mesmerized while she dies.
Later that night, the party had died down and the team had ordered take out. Everyone gathered around the table except one person. Natasha had snuck away to the rooftop to get some fresh air. She didn't feel like being around you while you were enamored with Steve.
"Tasha? You out here?"
Nat perked up when she heard your voice and the stairwell door slam shut.
"Uh, yeah, I'm over here," she answered, turning to face you.
"I noticed you weren't at the table so I came to find you," you said, walking over to her. "Are...you okay?"
Natasha sighed, "I'm fine, you don't have to worry about me."
"Of course I have to worry about you! You're my teammate, but more importantly, you're my closest friend."
"You seem to be closer to Steve."
You quietly laughed. "Oh, I see how this is."
"No, you don't. Just go back downstairs-"
"You're jealous."
Natasha blushed and looked away from you. "I'm...I'm not jealous. That's childish of you to assume," she quickly said.
"Mhm," you hummed, standing right next to her. "I see how you act when I hang out around Steve. I saw you watching me walk in with him earlier. Do you think I like him?"
"What else would it be?" Natasha asked, looking at you again. "You and him are always together, you're by his side majority of the time."
"Because he's my best friend, Tasha. I have eyes for someone else."
"Who?" Natasha asked very quickly.
You giggled, and Natasha's heart fluttered at the sound. "Oh you know, this cute red head who hangs around the tower sometimes. She's smart, funny and sarcastic. She's skilled and she knows Russian, which is kind of hot."
You look over at Natasha, who was watching you intently. You noticed how her eyes dipped to your lips when you turned to her and smirked. "And she likes me, too."
You lean in a press you lips to hers. Natasha is taken back for a second, only a second though. Her hands quickly go around your waist and your arms go around her neck. She tilts her head to deepen the kiss and you leg instinctively lifts up like those cheesy rom-com women do.
"Nat! What did you do with-"
Tony stopped in his tracks when he saw you and Nat. He quietly, and awkwardly, turned around and went back downstairs.
You and Nat pull away from each other, smiles on your faces.
"That was...wow," you say, leaning your forehead against Nat's.
"Wow indeed, babe," she replies.
The two of you stand there, holding each other on the rooftop.

The first time Tasha met her little brother she was fifteen, months away from being sixteen, in her second year at MIT, and Tony had only turned four.
She had been visiting her father for the first time after the fight for matters she couldn’t remember. It involved a project, she knew that. A project he’d been working on tirelessly, but didn’t talk about until after the mandatory greetings, and catching up with each other’s lives. The usual “anything new” and “what have you done over the weekend” and “stay out of trouble.” All the while walking the very empty mansion that Howard now called home.
Without her mother to decorate, the place was barren. A mockery of Tasha’s childhood home. Her mother had laid claim to that, to the house she had grown up in, as a part of their agreement to ‘work things out,’ even though they all knew it was still going to lead to divorce by the look of it. A punishment, if you will.
Let Howard sleep in the bed he had made.
Howard had gone on and on, talking about recent breakthroughs and what occurred in the Gala he attended with Maria three feet apart from him. Calculations and probabilities and how he felt he was so close to finally finding Captain America. They just needed to search one more time.
Tasha had heard that line far too many times to count. The "Search for Captain America one more time." One more time had been the one more time seven times ago. She had learned to ignore this and not engage. It only led to dead ends and black holes with her father.
So as the time before, she followed him as he lead her to his lab to go over the project. Through this alien mansion, they went. Passing a variety of doors after doors, all either opened or shut tight with lock and key if the door possessed the ability. Something that should’ve tipped her off from the start, but she was so engrossed with studying this barren place she ignored all the warning signs Howard had clearly put all over. All the little things that were meant to punish the little party that had no control whatsoever over what had occurred.
She ignored these signs in favor of judging the little the place had, feeling justified this was what Howard had to deal with now. Payback for what he had done to her mother. Granted he still had hired help to keep the place clean at least. He still had money to sweep things under the rug and pretend nothing had occurred to the public, but to Tasha and her mother, this place with life practically nonexistent, it was a first step.
That was until she saw him. A tiny body hunched on the floor. Papers scattered everywhere around him. Basic math, or attempts at it, written on them. Tasha would have been impressed if she had not been left utterly stunned by the door when Howard decided to march in the room and discipline the child by screaming at him in a manner no child should ever have to be subjected to.
She gasped and covered her mouth when Howard raised a hand at the child, heard a very audible slap, and saw the tiny body crumbled to the floor. Sobs soon followed. Sobs that should’ve been loud and uncontrollable, piercing the room with a cry for his carer, but were muffled and subdued. It was something awful.
She stood there, gaping, as Howard sauntered back out of the room, feeling satisfied with what he had done. The child was left to pick up his papers, sniffling all through his task. Not a wail out of him. Then he looked up when he realized there was still someone watching. It was then that Tasha knew exactly who it was.
The brown eyes that took after Howard. A contrasts with Tasha’s own, who she took after from her mother. There was no mistaking this was the child, the evidence, of Howard’s infidelity. That brought to light everything that Howard had once tried to hide. That had destroyed Tasha’s family. Right here, sitting before her.
The child was now under Howard’s care. Howard’s responsibility to look after, and also the source of all his anger. All conveniently under his roof and all handily under no supervision.
Before Tasha had even entered Howard’s lab, she had already come to a decision about the child. By all means, she had every right to be mad at the situation. Her family was split in two. Her mother had been hurt. Tasha was left in the middle, pressured to act as if nothing was wrong and ordered to speak to both parties, even though she’d like nothing more than to cut off one side. The side that had refused to acknowledge his wrongdoings.
She was mad, but her anger was aimed at the one responsible, not the one whose only fault was simply being born and was now being punished for it.
That night, on pure impulse alone, she walked out of the barren mansion holding Tony’s hand and a bag of clothing. She left no notice to her father. Not that she suspected he’d care. Howard would probably be ecstatic to have the child gone, but if she was proven wrong she was ready to fight tooth and nail to keep Tony far away from him.
That night, her three-bedroom apartment was introduced to a new resident, and Rhodey was introduced to his new little brother and later, much later, to his brother-in-law.
That night, Tasha learned very quickly that taking in a four-year-old was no walk in the park, but Rhodey and Mama Rhodes were there to help every step of the way.
On that night, Tasha became Tony’s rock. His important person. His parental figure. His big sister that he could always go for help. The person one Steven Grant Rogers needed to go to in order to ask for permission to date him. Her and also Colonel James Rhodes, who both stared down at him, into his very soul, as he was covered in sweat and stuttering for their permission to court their pseudo son.
All the while Tony was there, complaining that he didn’t need permission from anyone to date a national hero and “Tashaaaa, stop scaring him already. Don’t chase him away like you did all the other guys I tried to date.”
“Hush, Bumble Bee. I need to vent your future boyfriend. Assert dominance. If he thinks he can come in and sweep you off your feet with no trouble he has another thing coming.”
“Tasha!”

Always
Tumblr media
All it takes is one glance
You and Natalia have been together for years even before you both have been forced to join the Red room, you both were childhood best friends and did everything to survive that hell hole that the both of you were thrown into.
“Will you stay by my side until I fall asleep Y/N?” a small voice if Natalia filled your ears, you just smiled at her
“Always Natalia”
You both grew up together learning to kill people breaking your body with training and shattering your innocent minds but you had each other.
She was your hope, your light in the dark so you had to be strong for her.
Natalia was crying in your arms after a test was conducted each and every one of you had to kill some targets with their family to test our emphathy, Natasha have a soft heart and being force to kill made her hate herself but you were there for here shielding her with thoughts that would break her.
“I killed them Y/N, their child was-… she was to young” she cried as you comforted her rubbing her back with your hands
“It’s not your fault Natalia, you had to do it” you reasoned her as she continued to cry
“will you stay with me even I became a monster Y/N?” she sniffled as her forest green piercing eyes connected to yours, you just smiled at her
“Always Iyubov’ always” you assured her wiping her tears and kissing her forehead.
.
.
.
You and Natalia or Natasha a name she wanted to be called now were together just before both of you graduated from the Red room and was one of the best assassins of the organization, they knew about you and Natasha’s relationship after you both graduated but never interfere as both of you did your jobs splendidly taking their attention away from your relationship not wanting one of you killed as it would take years before someone can be good as you both to be replaced, she had you when she was sent to her first mission until you adjusted in the circumstance you were in and accepted it as it give you both a bit of freedom to be together and sometimes do things you wanted as long as you do your missions right, but all of that change when Natasha got an offer to join SHEILD, Natasha being her she did not let it pass as she reached her hands to you inviting you to join her.
“Y/N we can change our lives there… we don’t have to kill people just because they want to, we can change the world there” you were a bit shocked to what had Natasha said to you as you had taking a liking on the life you were in.
“Will you stay with me even I betray my country?”  she was nervous… you can hear it in her voice as you accepted her hand as you always do and kissing the back of it which made her smile widely.
“Always IIyubov” she squeaked and throw herself to you caging you in a tightly hug and kissing you endlessly
“ya Iyublyu vas Y/N”
“ya Iyublyu vas Tasha”.
.
.
.
The SHEILD was no different to the red room that you and Natasha left back in Russia except that SHEILD treated you more nicely and have less missions. Natasha hated killing back then so you talked to Fury to never give Natasha assassinations unless necessary in exchange you will take the missions and do the dirty work for him which he gladly agreed and was kept secret between you both.
“baby I want you to meet Barton, Barton this is my girlfriend Y/N” Natasha was beaming as she introduced you to her friend, an agent she had gotten close from missions that she was dying for you to meet.
He smiled a bit as he offers his hand to you which you gladly took and send him a warm smile thinking how lucky this Barton to be a friend of Natasha.
“it’s nice to finally but a picture to the woman Natasha has been telling me all the time” you smirked and catch a glance at the blushing red head as she elbowed Barton at his side earning us a groan from him
well Tasha never really shut up about having a friend like you either” Natasha being her sent you a death glare as both you and Barton laugh at the antics of the green eyed ex-assassin.
 And that started a beautiful friendship, You, Barton and Natasha were inseparable. Clint took you and Natasha back to his home where his family lived introducing you to his wife Laura and his kids.
Everything was perfect, Natasha and you having dates around New York, taking undercover missions as a couple, watching movies you missed during the training back in red room, constantly telling each other how much you love them and having to spend Christmas with Barton’s family.
Everything WAS perfect
That change because of that one mission…
The mission to retrieve Dr. Banner or the Hulk.
.
.
.
“You good Y/N?” you heard Clint asking you as you stop punching the sand bag
“Yeah… why?” taking a towel and wiping off the sweat on your face to look more presentable in front of your friend
“Why are you not part of the Avenger?” he bluntly questions you
You knew this is going to be a hard pill to swallow for Clint and Natasha of you not being part of the team, only you and Fury knows about the deal of you being the assassin of the SHIELD you did some missions with them but you were very discrete with your kills that Barton and Natasha didn’t even notice this so they thought you were doing similar mission like them.
You weren’t put on the Team because the team saves people from harm while you kill people so they won’t do harm. They were the symbol of peace while you lurk in the dark to aid the peace they wanted.
You just laugh at Clint patting his shoulder
“I’m leading a different team Barton, I may not be an Avenger but we only have one goal”
He was silent for a bit before speaking again
“Are you spending enough time with Natasha these days?” you knew where this is going as you shrugged
“we’ve both been busy, after what happened at New York our team’s missions have been piling up and so was yours” you answered
“Y/N it’s not that I want to mendle to you and Natasha’s relationship but… you really need to look after her and Banner… they’ve been far too cosy to each other” he told you as his voice was full of remorse
You knew about this, about her and Banner’s… closeness
You asked her about this the other time but she just brush it off saying that there just friends.
You didn’t want to point it out again because you trust her… but you just can’t get this feeling that there was more to their friendship, and you really can’t blame her that.
“I know” you whispered to him as silence filled the gym
.
.
.
You were given by Fury a week off from missions which you rejoiced, this was your time to be with Natasha and do something together.
You got off of the floor where the common room of her team is as you saw her by the chair chatting with Clint.
 “hey Tasha, Barton” Natasha and Clint smiled at you as you gave Natasha a hug burring your head on her neck making her giggle as Barton rolled his eyes at you.
“Fancy seeing you here Y/N” Clint said faking a british accent as you punched his shoulder murmuring ‘shut up’. You turned to Natasha
“Wanna get dinner later? My treat” you smiled brightly at her remembering the restaurant Maria suggested to go.
“I’m sorry Y/N, I promised Bruce to have dinner with him, how about tomorrow? Sounds good?” you saw Clint raised his left eyebrow as you felt a small pinch at your heart as you only smiled at her not wanting to alarm her.
“Sure, I’ll pick up tomorrow at 6 then” she kissed you on your cheeks thanking you for understanding as she soon got a call from Bruce wanting some help in the lab bidding you and Clint a goodbye before leaving.
You just sighted, you were looking forward to this dinner grabbing a help from Tony to have reservation in that restaurant since it only cater powerful people and Tony was one of them, you look at Clint as he gave you the ‘I told you so’ look
“so… wanna grab dinner Barton?” he cheekly smiled
“I thought you’d never ask”
When you met him at the exit of the building he also invited Maria and Dr. Cho who is wearing formal dresses as you and Barton wore some suit which made feel a bit better, after dinner Maria and Clint dragged you and Dr. Cho from bar to bar enjoying the break you had as they filled your night with fun taking your thoughts off of Natasha.
.
.
.
You were invited by Tony to attend his party, you wanted to decline but Clint, Maria and Dr. Cho forced you to come telling to relax for a while and from the moment you stepped in Banner and Natasha have been lost on their own world together.
You watch as Clint, Tony, Rhodey, Banner and Steve trying to pull Thor’s hammer from the glass table as you sat silently beside Natasha who was in a very ‘interesting’ conversation with Banner as you kept drinking the bottle of beer that was filled with vodka chugging it down to your throat just wanting to disappear in this room.
You felt a hand on your shoulder as you turned around seeing it was Dr. Cho as she gently pulled you up from your seat to Maria and Clint’s side making you breathed a bit more comfortable as she sat next to you giving her a kind smile
“Thanks” you whispered
“your welcome” she replied and continued to watch Steve as he pulled the hammer earning a squeak but again didn’t budge.
You felt Maria leaned on your legs as she sat down taking the bottle of beer full of vodka on your hands as she smelt it and immediately gave you a side eye as you murmured a quick “Sorry”
The fun was stopped when a broken robot walked in limping and all you know was there are robots trying to kill all of you.
You jumping to action wanting to run to Natasha to protect her but you saw her running with Banner…
You were jealous of it but Dr. Cho being closer to you, you pulled her away from the chaos as a robot shot the both of you, you hid her behind a large post
“Stay here” you told her as you pulled a gun from your side and started shooting the robot as it falls to the ground and took it’s head off as Thor finished the last one.
.
.
.
Another problem arises for the Avengers as you barely saw Natasha for a few weeks as you put yourself up from mission to mission not wanting to think about her as all you saw was her and Banner’s face laughing.
“The wall will melt if you kept staring at it you know” you were cut off on your daze by Maria as she sat beside the bed that you are now laying on in the Medical bay, Natasha had been notified about this as you tried to stop them but she never came to look for you.
“How bad was it?” Maria asked seeing your torso wrapped with bandages
“enough to keep me away from missions for two weeks” you sigh not really liking the idea of being coped up in a place that kept reminding you about the circumstance that you were in
“I think I know what have been running through your mind lately… it’s about Bruce and agent Romanoff is it?” the silence of you was taken by Maria as an answer as she looked at you in pity.
And you broke as tears run past you face just staring at nothingness, crying was a foreign thing for you, you never cried when you almost died or taken by the Red room, you never cry when you had your first kill.
But right now… the tears keep streaming down your eyes was you tried your best to stop it, you felt Maria stood and wrap her arms around your shoulder pushing your head on her chest as your tears wouldn’t stop.
“I-I don’t know what to do Maria…” your broken voice hurts Maria in many different ways, out of all the people she met you were one of the most calm person she encountered, and most importantly you are her friend…
It hurts her seeing you cry, it’s her first time seeing you being vule like this.
“just let it all out Y/N”
And you did.
.
.
.
You stood there outside of room Natasha was in wanting to see her as their mission failed and now laying low at Barton’s house but you stood there frozen from the scene of her and Banner holding each other.
You rushed out of your mission when you heard about what happened to them as Clint told you that Natasha was injured and all shaken up with the enhance girl putting things in their mind, you dropped everything and just want to be with the red head but what greeted you is this.
You clench your hands so hard not wanting to break here when you felt someone hugged your leg
“Aunt Y/N” Lila said as you gave her a forced smile picking her up from the ground
“where’s your mom hmm?” you asked her sweetly as she points out to the kitchen as you tickled her sending her in full giggles walking to the kitchen and seeing a very pregnant Laura cooking
Putting Lila down and greeting Laura as she turned to you
“Y/N! oh god I missed you!” you chuckled as she gave you a hug which you return
“Missed you too Laura” you broke the hug
“so did you meet Nat?” you just shrug at her wanting to change the topic so you stared at her big belly
“you look big Lau” she smacked your arm as you both laugh
“I know Lila has been telling me that, why don’t you go sit I’ll make some food” you decline as you picked up some ingredient and started cutting it.
“Nah I’ll be helping you out, we don’t want you getting to worked up”
After you finished cooking you left some supplies for them and sneakily left the Barton’s house not wanting to alarm the team as you linger around the perimeter checking for some anomalies before completely leaving for another mission Fury assigned.
.
.
.
“p-please don’t kill me I’ll do anything!”
Your phone rang as you were in the middle of killing one of the many leader of Hydra as he sat on the ground begging for his life
You quickly answered it as Clint’s voice filled your ear
“Y/N, Nat has been taken” your face harden as anger builds inside you
“What?! “
“Ultron took her”
“I’m on my way”
You ended the call and shooting the man on his head 3 times before heading out
All you though that time was to find Natasha.
.
.
.
You just stood there behind Clint in silent not wanting to lash out in anger and worry about Natasha, there are two new people in the group Pietro and Wanda… you thought they were too young for this, barely even living normal live and was thrown in to this mess… you pitied them as you pitied yourself.
Vision gave Thor his hammer which surprised everyone. Thor took the hammer as Vision left everyone speechless.
“right… well done” Thor patted Tony’s shoulder before leaving
“three minutes, get what you need” Steve said as all of us left packing things they’ll be needing.
You took some guns, daggers and things you needed as you held the locket Natasha gave you after you both graduated from the Red room… it has the first picture of you both smiling as you held a bit more freedom back then.
All you every though is
Bring back Natasha, bring back your love.
You remembered what Natasha used to say to you ‘will you stay by my side?’
“Always” you voiced out kissing the locket placing it back on your neck near your heart.
.
.
.
You were tasked to save Natasha with Banner and evacuated her, you lurked behind Banner as you both navigated your way to Natasha’s cage, you stood at the dark as you pulled your dagger out of the robot beheading it just be sure, turning around seeing Bruce has set Natasha free and again lost between their world.
You want to shout at them wanting your presence to be known rage boiled up inside you and everything stopped when she kissed him… your heart ached, it’s like someone was crushing your heart as all you want is to scream.
You silently left not wanting to see more of them as the picture of them kissing filled your head.
As you got outside you saw robots coming everywhere, you held on your gun and dagger tighter as civilians passed you, you swiftly yanked a robot’s head that was sticking out on the ground and all you saw was red…
 You kicked a head of a robot you just beheaded as tons of them was laying beneath your feet, you have gashes littering your body but you didn’t feel any tiredness or soreness only rage and betrayal.
“Y/N?” you froze when you heard the familiar voice of the woman you love, you didn’t want to turn around to see her face as it only reminds you that you were never hers anymore but you can never deny her.
You turn around facing her as your eyes held emptiness, she looked a bit worried as she took a step closer to you avoiding the metal bodies as you held your gun pointing at her and she stopped
“Y/N what are you doi-“ her words cut off when you fired the gun hitting the robot that was flying behind her.
You heard Tony saying stuff at your earpiece wanting all of you at the core as you saw Natasha’s hand holding it out on you
“stay with me?” your anger and rage melted at her words as it brought you back the memories of the past as you took her hand
“always”
.
.
.
“Together” Tony said as Natasha held your hands tighter as you squeeze it reassuring her
And that, all hell broke loose.
You kept killing robots after robots so was everyone keeping them away from the core, you saw a robot going to Natasha’s back, you pulled it’s head snapping its neck.
 “I’ll protect it” Wanda said as you, Natasha and Clint rode a car towards where the evacuation is
“get your asses on the boat” Natasha said as all of you got out of the car
“where are you going?” you asked her
“I have to get the big guy” ah… Banner you saw her run to the side as you stood there as you felt Clint held your shoulder
“hey… lets go now” you just nodded following him
 Bullets rained down as everyone took cover, Clint on the other hand pulled a child while you were beside him taking cover as you saw Pietro running to shield him…
You pushed your body forward as you reached Pietro’s left side but not enough to cover him from the other shots
You felt bullets broke out of your skin while you saw Pietro took 3, two on his arm and one on his right leg,
he’ll be alright with that…
you thought as your body weaken after taking one on your right shoulder on the right side of your stomach and on your arm.
You held your ground as you put pressure at the shot by your stomach as it bleeds out badly
“you good kid?” you ask Pietro as he nods limping
“Y/N!” you heard Clint shouted as Steve drag you and Pietro to the ship
Your ears were ringing badly as Clint tried to stop the bleeding
“Barton… I badly need a nap right now…” you whispered as blood ran down your lips
“Y/N hey don’t you dare sleep, We need a medic! Agent Y/N is down!” you heard Clint’s voice as you saw Pietro at the side sitting as he looked at you with apologetic eyes as you gave him a reassuring smile.
You saw small dark dots as you kept your eyes open not wanting Clint screaming at you but then you were swallowed by darkness.
 Clint run to the helicarrier towards the medical bay with you on his arm limping with Steve behind him holding Pietro
“MOVE!!” he shouted as he reached the med bay placing you on one of the bed as Dr. Cho did her best to keep you alive,
Clint was thrown out of the room as they waited outside patiently
“We’re losing her! Get the defibrillator!”
.
.
“Im gonna go and see Pietro” Steve announced as Clint just nodded as he sat beside the bed you lay on, as much as Clint hated the beeping sound from the machines that was hooked up from you it is the only reminder for him of you being alive.
Maria already passed by but Natasha was nowhere to be seen, Maria told Clint that she was busy finding Banner who is now in the quinjet in stealth mode and that made them angry.
Her girlfriend is lying here barely even alive but she kept searching for that guy.
.
.
.
“Thank you for saving me Y/N” Pietro’s heavy accent filled the room you were in
“you still have a lot of things to accomplish kid, and stop thanking me already” you took a bite off of your sandwich which Wanda made for you
“Your sandwich really hits the spot Wanda thanks” you smiled at the witch
“your welcome Y/N, I’ll bring some more tomorrow if you want” she smiled warmly
“that would be great”
A knock on the door and a red head popped on it
“well that’s our cue, come Pietro” Wanda pulled Pietro out of the room as Natasha walked in locking the room.
 “Y/N” she called you
“Natasha” you acknowledge her
 “how are you?...”
“getting better now”
 And a loud noise of silence embraced you both, you took a deep breath looking at the large glass with the green view outside
“I know…” you broke the silence as her head whip to look at you
“What-“ you cut her off
“I know about you and Banner…” you told her bluntly and straight forward
“Y/N… im sorry…”
You gave her a smile cupping her face as tears started to stream down her face
“It’s alright IIyubov… I really can’t blame you if you fall in love with him…” God… it’s been forever since you last called her that
You wipe off her tears as she kept saying how sorry she was as you hugged her tightly as if it was the last time you will do.
“Does he make you happy Tasha?” you asked her as she stayed silent for a while before nodding, your heart ached as it was like being stumped
“Do you love him?” you felt a nod as you closed your eyes tightly not wanting your tears to run by your face. Natasha was all you had left, your reason for everything, all you want is to protect her and keep her safe and make her happy.
And if she’s happy with him… even it hurts… you would gladly let her go
“Be with him…” Natasha froze in your embrace as her green eyes found yours
“All I wanted for you is to you to be happy Natalia… if being with him felt right then I would gladly let you go” at that moment you saw flashes of you and Natasha from the first time you met, to her being scared, the time you confessed your feeling, to your first kiss, the day you held each other as if non in the world matters, to your graduation in Red room, both of you joining SHIELD, celebrating Christmas with the Barton’s and to her lingering laughs and giggles telling you how much she loved you…
Your eyes were watery, Natasha was shocked by the words coming out of your mouth, it is her first time since you were kids seeing you this… broken… and she hated herself for she was the reason her Y/N was this. You’re her hero, her guardian, her shield you followed her everywhere around the globe happily as you were her sun.
A tear slipped from your eyes as you smiled painfully to the woman you love, to the woman you thought you would end up forever… to your home… With all the courage you spoke
“ya Iyublyu vas Natalia, Always and forever” kissing her forehead
as painful as it is, she can’t move forward with a part of her past lingering around her… You…
Breaking the embraced you were with her, taking a step back as you smiled at her as she stayed silent watching you
whispering your last words to her
“goodbye Natalia”
You walk off the room closing the door behind you with heavy heart. You are happy that she’s now making her own choices… not being tied down with anything and having control to her life, you are proud of her even that choice she made hurts you.
It breaks you to let her go but
Natasha finally found her family in Avenger
As you lost yours.

Tony x reader x Steve x Natasha
Notes; The reader has powers akin to Psylocke from X-Men. Also, I would have uploaded sooner, but it was my birthday yesterday, and I forgot. Sorry.
"I'm gonna miss the beard." You said, watching Steve as he shaved off the beard he had grown.
"Tony never liked it," Steve commented. "He said it was too scratchy."
"Like he can talk." Natasha snorted, coming up behind you and wrapping her arms around your waist. "We're going to find him, Steve." She promised the blonde.
"And what if he was dusted?" Steve asked, turning to you. "What then?"
"We bring him back," Natasha said. "He can't get away from us that easy." She joked, causing Steve to laugh weakly.
"Y/N, you're awful quiet," Steve noted as he and Natasha looked at you.
"He needs to come home." You said, looking up.
"We know. Carol's looking for him now. If he's out there, we'll find him." Natasha assured you.
"No, he needs to come back to us." You said, placing a hand on your stomach.
"Y/N?" Steve asked, taking a step forward.
"We're pregnant." You announced, flashing a watery smile at both your partners. "I felt really sick after the battle and had FRIDAY scan me. We're five weeks pregnant."
"This is amazing, Y/N!" Natasha cheered, turning you in her arms to kiss you deeply. "We're going to be parents!"
"This is such fantastic news," Steve said, pulling both you and Natasha into his arms. "Our family is growing." He smiled, putting his hand on your stomach.
"That's why Tony has to come home. So he can be here. I don't want to just tell this baby about Tony. I want them to have all their parents raise them."
"We'll get him back," Steve promised you. "Whatever it takes."
Before any of you could say another word, there was a loud humming sound that shook the walls of the building.
"FRIDAY, what was that?" Natasha demanded.
"It appears Carol Danvers has returned. She is carrying a large spacecraft with her."
"Tony." The three of you said before rushing outside.
Bruce, Rhodey, and Pepper quickly joined the three of you, and soon the six of you were all gathered on the front lawn, watching as Carol flew down.
You'd never believed in God before, but at this moment, you found yourself praying Tony was on that ship and alive.
As the ship was placed on the ground, the door opened. A raccoon walked out, followed by a blue woman and then,
"Tony!" You shouted, rushing forward with Natasha and Steve on your heels.
Tony looked half dead. He was incredibly pale and thin. His form was shaking as you pulled him into your arms.
"You're alive. You're here." You whispered, clinging onto his shirt tightly. When Tony didn't respond, you took a step back and allowed Natasha and Steve to embrace him.
"I lost the kid." Tony gasped after Steve pulled away.
"Tony, we all lost," Steve told him with a grimace.
"You need to get looked over," Natasha demanded, putting one of Tony's arms around her shoulders.
"No, we need to talk about him," Tony said, panting by the end of his short sentence.
"You need to go to the infirmary." You said, narrowing your eyes at the man. "You're about to collapse."
As Steve wrapped his thick arm around Tony's midsection, Tony seemingly lost his fight and slumped in their hold.
After having rested for a while, Tony explained what had happened on Titan to you all. When Nebula announced that she may know where Thanos could be, everyone prepared to leave.
Everyone except you.
You had volunteered, been forced to stay behind by Natasha and Steve, to stay with Tony.
"Tony, you need to stay in bed." You sighed, gently pushing on his shoulders.
"I can't stand this. Who invented bedrest? I just want to talk to them." Tony grumbled, leaning back against his pillows.
"Yeah, I don't think you can talk to him. He died in 1914." You informed him.
"Absolutely ridiculous," Tony said under his breath.
You were about to reply to him when a sudden bout of nausea overwhelmed you. You rushed over to the trashcan by the door and lost this morning's breakfast.
"Y/N?"
"I'm fine. Just give me a second." You said before throwing up again. "Ugh, that's gross." You complained once you were done.
"What the hell was that? Are you okay? Are you sick? Is it the flu?" Tony asked in rapid-fire succession.
"I'm fine, hon." You cut him off. "I'm gonna put this in the hall. This is disgusting." You said before moving the can into the hallway.
"Are you gonna tell me what that was?" Tony asked as you moved back to his bedside.
"I was going to wait until Natasha and Steve got back, but now's going to have to do." You sighed, taking his hand. "I'm pregnant, Tony."
Tony went quiet. He didn't say anything as he stared at you.
"Tony?"
"We're going to need to start planning for a nursery. I'll get FRIDAY to call a designer and have them send over some color swatches. Do you know if it's a girl or a boy? How far along are you?" Tony asked as he grabbed his tablet from the side table. "FRIDAY, can you download baby books for first-time parents? Do you think there are youtube videos we could watch?"
"Tony, I'm barely following a thing you're saying." You informed the man. "Wait, so you're not mad?"
"Mad? Why would I be mad?" Tony titled his head. "We've been talking about this for how long? Have you told Tasha and Steve?"
"I told them just before you got back." You nodded.
"We're going to have a family." Tony smiled largely. "Oh God, we're going to have a family."
"So, Thanos is dead."
"Yes."
"And the stones are destroyed."
"Yes."
That had been playing on a loop in your head since everyone had returned.
Thor had left that night.
Carol had returned to space.
Rhodey had been called back to work.
Rocket, Nebula, and Bruce were sticking around the compound. Bruce would be staying permanently to help the rest of the world, but Nebula and Rocket were only staying temporarily. Once they had reloaded their ship, they would be gone too.
And the four of you, the four of you were leaving now.
"We got so lucky here, Steve," Tony said, putting his arm around Natasha's shoulders and putting the other around your waist. "We all lived. We made it out alive, and now we have a chance. We have a kid on the way, Steve."
"I know that," Steve said, rubbing his hand over his face. "But we can't just leave. The world is in chaos, everyone is panicking, and you want us to go? Go where?"
"I bought a lakehouse a few years back. It was an impulse buy, and I haven't been there since I bought it. Might be a good project for us all." Tony informed everyone.
"So you want us to go and move into a place that isn't even finished yet?" Steve scoffed.
"It's finished. It just needs some repairs."
"Steve, why are you so against this?" You cut in.
"Because we lost! Because Thanos defeated us, and then we lost again because of the stones. Some people lost everyone and everything, and we can't fix it." Steve sighed, looking away from the three of you.
"Steve, we're allowed to live our lives," Natasha said, standing from the bed and pulling him over. "Yes, it is terrible what happened to all those people, but we are allowed to be happy. We are allowed to be happy that we survived, that we have a child on the way."
"Why can't we have this, Steve?" Tony asked him. "We've been fighting for years. And the point was so we didn't have to fight, and this is not the way we thought it would happen, but it's happened. We've fought for years for this." Tony said, taking Steve's hand and putting it on your stomach.
"This could be a blessing in disguise, Stevie." You mentioned intertwining your fingers with his. "This is our reason to take a step back. To focus on ourselves for once, to focus on our little one. We've never been safe here, and we'll never be safe here. Neither will they."
Steve had eventually agreed to the plan. It had taken hours for the four of you to come to an agreement, but you finally did.
You, Tony, and Natasha would fully step back. You were done. There would be no more Avengers activities for the three of you. Steve himself couldn't leave completely.
His conscious wouldn't allow him to in a time he felt was less than desirable.
So Steve would come back to the city once a week and see if Bruce needed help with anything.
But that was it for him.
"Is that everything?" Natasha asked, putting her last bag in the car.
"Should be." You nodded, moving to stand behind her. "Anything else the movers will bring." You added, wrapping your arms around her waist.
"Someone's cuddly this morning," Steve commented as he and Tony entered the garage.
"What do you expect, Steve? You woke her up at five a.m." Tony clucked, pulling on his sunglasses.
"We had to get up at five if we wanted to load up the car and get there at twelve." Steve shook his head. "Speaking of leaving, is everyone ready?"
"I'm always ready, Cap," Tony smirked.
"Let's get going." Natasha nodded.
"Y/N?"
"Let's do this."
Non-reader POV
"Your alpaca ate Steve's laundry today." Y/N casually informed Tony as she prepared lunch.
"He's our alpaca, thank you." Tony corrected her, stealing a piece of cooked chicken. "And why was he using the clothesline anyway? We have a dryer."
"Because sometimes it's nice to do things the old-fashioned way." Y/N smiled. "Can you bring those three in for lunch?"
"Of course," Tony said, pressing a kiss to her cheek before leaving out the back door.
Tony was smiling as he made the short walk from the house to the hideout. When he was within hearing distance, Tony began to clap several times.
"Chow time!" He called. "Hello?" He greeted in a random accent as he took a seat outside the hideout. "Parker J, Sarah M, Stark, you two and your mom want some lunch?"
"Define wunch or be disintegwated," Sarah demanded, exiting in an Iron Man helmet as Parker barrel rolled out and jumped into a superhero pose.
"Woah, Woah, Woah," Tony said, raising his hands up. "You should not be wearing that." He informed his daughter as he gently removed it. "Where did you get it?"
"I let them play with it," Natasha said, crawling out of the hideout. "That was a very well done threat, Sarah." She complimented her daughter, pressing a kiss to her head. "And your roll and jump are coming along well too, Parker." She added, kissing her son's head too.
"Thank you, mama." The twins responded in unison.
"You were watching them, Nat?" He asked. "Then I suppose it's okay. You three thinking 'bout lunch? A handful of crickets and some lettuce, for you three, I think." He teased, causing Parker and Sarah to make a noise of disgust.
"No, daddy!" Parker shrieked, scrunching his nose.
"Yucky!"
"Don't worry, I won't let him poison you," Natasha said, taking Parker into her arms. "You got her?" She asked Tony.
"Always do." Tony nodded, taking Sarah into his arms. "C'mon on you three. Let's not keep your mom waiting."
Tony and Natasha began walking back to the house when they saw Steve's truck pull up. The two were smiling at the blonde's arrival until they saw Scott Lang and Bruce Banner getting out of the car too.
Reader POV
"I can't believe you brought them here, and for that." Tony scoffed.
Scott and Bruce had left an hour ago. The conversation had not gone the way Steve had wanted, with Tony blatantly dismissing the notion of using time travel.
Tony had disappeared into his garage an hour ago, but the second he came back into the house, he and Steve began to argue. You and Natasha had sent the kids upstairs while you sat on the couch and watched the two.
"Tony, Scott came back that's something. That means we have a chance." Steve pressed his husband. "We have a chance to go back and fix this."
"There is no chance. We can't go back. His theory was based on a movie. Why can't you accept that we change the past? Why can't you accept that we lost?" Tony scoffed, narrowing his eyes at the blonde.
"Why can't you believe we have a chance to fix this?"
"Because even if this plan worked, there is a chance that we lose everything." He said, waving his arms around the room. "We lose the last five years, and we lose them. We lose our kids. Do you want that, Steven?"
"Of course not!" Steve exclaimed. "You know I would never do anything to endanger our children!"
"Boys." You snapped, standing from the sofa. "Neither of you are getting anywhere like this. You are solving nothing. Cool off." You demanded, crossing your arms.
"Don't need to ask me twice." Tony shrugged, going back towards the garage.
"Fine." Steve ground out, leaving out the back door.
"You go after Steve, and I'll go after Tony?" Natasha suggested as she stood.
"Deal."
Natasha moved to follow after Tony, and you pursued Steve. You found Steve exactly where you thought he'd be.
"You know we don't need any more firewood, right?" You asked, watching as he began to stack a pile of logs.
"He never listens. To anyone." Steve grumbled, picking up an ax.
"I hope you're not going to take that to him." You joked, moving to stand across from him. "Steve, talk to me."
"This could work, Y/N. We could fix this." Steve sighed. "I don't know why he won't listen."
"Because of them." You gestured to the kids' hideout by the lake. "And because of Peter." You added, causing Steve to go quiet. "We were all close with Peter, but Tony was closest. We both know it hurt him really badly when Peter died, and now he's scared something is going to the twins."
"You know I would never do anything that could hurt them," Steve promised you.
"I know that. Tony knows that, but he's just scared. What happened on Titan hurt him more than he wants to admit in a lot of ways.  He just needs time." You promised, taking the ax out of his hands and pulling him into an embrace.
After your talk with Steve, you had brought him inside. The two of you went upstairs and sat with the kids for a while. Parker and Sarah were coloring, but they insisted you and Steve stay.
You could never refuse the kids, and you even allowed them to stay up an hour later before you had to send them to bed.
You and Steve had then moved to your bedroom, where you and he just crawled into bed.
"Can I come in?" Tony asked, standing in the doorway while Natasha strolled right in.
"Of course you can," Steve said, making room for him in the middle as Natasha crawled in behind you.
"We had to put the kids back to bed," Tony said. "Tash gave them both juice pops."
"Liar." Natasha scoffed before you all went quiet.
"I figured it out," Tony murmured after a minute. "Time travel. Tasha saw it."
"That's amazing," Steve said.
"And terrifying." You mentioned.
"We got really lucky. Not a lot of people did, and I can't always help everyone." Tony said, looking at the ceiling.
"Seems like you can here," Steve told him.
"Not if I stop. I can put a pin in it right now and stop." Tony said to him.
"Tony, you've never been able to stop." Natasha shook her head. "If we could've ever gotten you to stop, our lives would be very different now." She added, causing the three of you to chuckle.
"I don't know. Something tells me I should put it in a locked box and drop it to the bottom of the lake."
"Tony, you'd never be able to stop." You said, taking his hand. "None of us would be able to rest if we knew we could've helped."
"We'd never be able to stop," Steve told him.
"We've never been able to stop." Natasha snorted. "It's been five years, and we're still going. We've never been able to stop."
You'd gone back to the compound the next day. Pepper and Happy had volunteered to watch the kids, and after a long goodbye, the four of you had driven back.
There Tony had shown Bruce what he had worked out, and the rest of you worked on a plan. Natasha had gone and brought Clint back, and he had test-driven the machine.
Once Clint had given you the affirmative, all you had to do was find the stones.
Everyone had been assigned a stone and a team. From there, you would travel back in time, collect the stone, and return so Bruce and Tony could add them to a glove Tony had made.
You would be going to Asgaard with Thor and Rocket.
You were all standing on the platform, ready to travel back through space and time.
"Hey," Natasha said, drawing everyone's attention to her. "See you in a minute." She smiled giddily.
And with that, you were gone.
An hour on Asgaard passed quickly. Thor had runoff, and you had had to follow him through the large halls. Thor had found his mother and finally had the reunion and talk he'd needed.
It was when Rocket rushed into the room with the stone, and Thor summoned Mjolnir that the three of you had to go back.
"Did we get 'em all?" Tony asked immediately, clicking off his suit.
"Are you telling me this actually worked?" Rhodey laughed, looking around at everyone.
"Clint," You started. "Where's Nat?" You asked, not seeing your wife.
Everyone went silent as they all turned to face the archer, who was soaking wet. Clint didn't look up as he continued to stare at the ground silently.
"Clint?"
"What are we going to tell the kids?" You asked your husbands. Everyone had moved outside to the lake. No-one had made the decision aloud, but it was just too hard to sit inside.
"What can we tell them?" Tony asked, staring blankly at the water.
"You're acting like she's dead. Why are we acting like she's dead?" Thor asked, storming over. "We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones, we can bring her back. So stop this shit!" He demanded of the three of you. "That's your wife! Stop it!"
"We can't get her back," Clint said quietly. "It can't be undone." He added, shaking his head sadly.
"You're an earthly being." Thor scoffed. "We're talking about space magick."
"Yeah, look, I know I'm way outside my pay grade here, but she's not here. Is she? It can't be undone. At least that's what the floating spaceman said, but why don't you grab your hammer and go talk to him!" Clint began to yell.
"All of you stop it," Steve ordered, standing from his seat. "Arguing isn't going to solve anything."
"Why aren't you more upset about this, Cap?" Clint asked. "Why aren't any of you reacting? She was your wife, for fucks sake!"
"You don't think we know that!" Tony yelled, rounding on him. "You don't think we know that our wife just died for that fucking stone! Because we do! And now we have to go to a home where she won't be! Where we have to tell our kids why their mama won't be coming home! So don't fucking tell me we aren't feeling this because we are fucking feeling it!"
"All of you stop arguing." You said, standing up. "Natasha died for that stone, and I'll be dammed if we don't finish this for her. We're going in there to end this." You added, moving back towards the compound.
As you walked past Scott, who had been standing at the end quietly, you snapped.
Grabbing him by the collar, you pinned him to the pillar.
"If this does not fucking work and all this was for nothing, I will kill you. If Natasha died for nothing, I will fucking slaughter you." You promised before being pulled away by strong arms.
"We'll meet you inside," Steve said to the others who were beginning to walk past you.
When everyone had walked away, and it was only you, Steve and Tony, the dam broke.
Your legs could no longer support you, and you would have collapsed to the ground in a disheveled heap had Steve not been holding you up.
Tears were pouring down your face as your body wracked with an onslaught of sobs.
Tony's arms wrapped around you and Steve as the three of you stood on the dock, all crying.
"What do we do?" You asked as you began to calm yourself. "What do we do?"
"We finish this," Tony told you. "We need to finish this, so we can stop."
The stones had worked. It hadn't been for nothing.
Bruce had snapped everyone and everything back to life.
But of course, things never could work out for the Avengers.
Just as everyone was beginning to feel hopeful and happy at this achievement, the building had blown.
Thanos had returned.
You and Tony shielded as many as you could when the building blew. But when the time came to fight the Titan, it was only you, Steve, Thor, and Tony.
"Where are the stones?" Steve asked, standing beside you.
"Somewhere under all this," Tony said, staring at the Titan. "All I know is he doesn't have them."
"So we keep it that way." You told them, narrowing your eyes at Thanos.
"You know it's a trap, right?" Thor asked you all.
"Yeah, I don't much care." Tony shrugged.
"Good, just as long as we're all in agreement," Thor said before there was a rumble of thunder. "Let's kill him properly this time."
You were failing. Your asses had been getting kicked when the portals began to open.
And then chaos ensued.
There were so many moments of the battle you were sure you'd never be able to fully remember it all.
The only part that you completely remembered and would haunt you in your dreams for decades to come was when the glove flew from Carol's hands.
Everyone raced for it and rushed to protect it.
Thor and Steve fought Thanos together. Carol fought him alone. You and Steve fought him.
But eventually, you were all thrown to the side and forced to watch as Thanos pulled on the glove.
Carol tried once more to get the glove away from Thanos, only to be blasted to the side by the power stone.
Just as Thanos looked like he was going to snap, Tony rushed forward in a last effort attempt. He grabbed at the glove, but Thanos threw him back.
Tony landed beside you and Steve as Thanos readied to snap.
"I am inevitable," Thanos said, raising his hand. As he was raising his hand, you noticed something.
The stones traveling up Tony's suit.
His skin was already beginning to burn as the power traveled through his body.
He wouldn't survive this on his own.
You shared a look with Steve, who nodded at you.
"I am Iron Man," Tony said as you and Steve rushed forward. You and Steve stood behind him and placed your hands on his exposed skin.
You and Steve let out mirrored gasps of pain as the burning traveled through your bodies as well. You could feel a hand placed on your shoulder and heard more gasps and grunts of pain.
When you opened your eyes, Thor, Clint, and Bruce had all joined your makeshift chain.
"And we're the Avengers," Steve grunted, squeezing Tony's shoulder, who quickly snapped his fingers.
The six of you let out mirroring cries of pain after his snap. Your skin felt as if it were boiling and about to be peeled from your own body. But it was worth it.
It was worth it because Thanos’ army began to disintegrate.
And when Thanos sat down and he turned to dust, there was no greater feeling.,
"Tony?" Steve asked, causing your head to snap to the side. Tony was kneeling against a large piece of debris in obvious pain.
"Tony." You gasped, rushing towards him. "Oh God, Tony."
"It's not that bad, is it?" Tony asked you. "Do I still have my rugged good looks?"
"You could never lose them." Steve laughed, gently brushing his hand across Tony's burnt cheek.
"Tony, do you need to stop?" You asked, dreading the answer. "Because if you need to, you can stop now."
"Never," Tony grunted, sitting upright. "Where's Strange? I think I'm going to need a doctor."
The three of you were in a Wakandian hospital. Strange with some help from Shuri had been able to save Tony’s life. He had lost his arm to the gauntlet and that side of his body would forever be scarred. All six of you would forever bare the scars from this fight.
The six of you had been scarred by the power of the stones but Tony’s had been the worst.
The three of you had been in this hospital room for three days now and today was the day Pepper would be bringing the kids to visit.
“How do we tell them about Nat?” Steve asked.
“I have no idea.” You shook your head. “I don’t think there’s any version that’s going to be easy for them to hear.”
“What time did Pep say they were coming?” Tony asked.
“Any time now.” You said after glancing at the clock.
“There’s no time to plan anything is there?” Tony shook his head. We’ll just have to wing it.”
“There’s a part of me that just wants to run away.” You admitted. “I don’t think I can do this.”
“You just faced down Thanos with not a hint of fear, and two five-year-olds are scaring you?” Steve asked with a slight chuckle.
“Don’t act as if they’ve never scared you.” You said, lightly hitting him on the arm. “We all remember the juice pops incident.”
Before Steve could retort, there was a light knocking on the door. You all turned your heads to see Pepper standing at the door.
“Where are the kids?” Tony asked immediately.
“They’re right here.” Pepper was quick to reassure the three of you. “They’re both safe and ready to see you, but they have a surprise for you.”
“They better not have brought Gerald. I still haven’t forgiven him for the laundry.” Steve grumbled as Pepper stepped to the side. And in walked the kids. Both Parker and Sarah were smiling brightly as they pulled Natasha in.
“Nat?”
“Tasha?”
“Natty?”
The kids would tease you for years about the three of you crying when you saw Nat in that hospital room. They would tease you for years until they were old enough to be told the truth of what had happened.
Natasha had no idea what happened to her. She remembered falling and she remembered waking up at the remains of the compound where Strange had found her.
But it was her. It was 100% your Natasha and the three of you couldn't be more thankful that she was alive and with you once more.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Tony asked, wrapping his arms around your waist, startling you out of your thoughts.
“Just can’t get over how lucky we were.” You murmured, watching Steve and Natasha play with Parker and Sarah in the yard. “We got really lucky with this, Tony.”
“I know.”
“We can’t push our luck when it comes to this family. We thought we lost Nat, and we would’ve lost you if you had snapped alone. I don’t know if we’ll ever be this lucky again.” You said, looking up at your husband.
“We probably won’t, but it doesn’t matter, because we’re done. We’re finally stopping. All of us.” He promised, leaning down to connect your lips.
“Gross!” A small voice shrieked, causing you and Tony to pull apart. You saw your husband and wife staring at you both adoringly as the twins watched you with disgusted faces.
“Don’t you like kisses anymore sweethearts?” You teased, pulling out of Tony’s hold and stepping onto the porch. “You two better run, because I think I want to kiss my babies.”
“I think they both are in need of cuddles and kisses.” Tony agreed and the two of you raced towards your family.
The twins shrieked as they ran from the four of you, wanting to avoid capture. But of course they could never escape the four of you.
The day ended with you all layig on the lawn, staring at the sun, and enjoying the embrace of one another.
This is what you fought for. This is why you all fought to stop.
And it was so worth it.

“Peter, where did the-“
“Have you seen where-“
They both stopped, laughing to themselves. It hasn’t been the first time that afternoon that they’d started talking over each other.
“You first,” Tony offered, leaning against the counter and smiling at his husband.
Peter laughed, glancing over the counter and seemingly endless rows of ingredients. “I can’t find the chicken stock. I swear I just had it.”
The older man glanced around, humming softly to himself. He grabbed a carton and dangled it in front of Peter. “Here you go, honey. Working on the gravy?”
Nodding, Peter started measuring out the stock after taking it from Tony and adding it into a bowl. “Yep. Wanted to use some of the turkey drippings but someone threw them out,” he commented dryly.
Tony made an offended noise, bumping him with his hip. “I didn’t know I was supposed to keep the greasy pan! I was trying to be helpful by washing up!”
Obviously not really mad, Peter smiled at him fondly. “You are being helpful. But if you want to be more helpful you’ll get started on shredding the cheese.”
“I was about to! That was what I needed to ask, I cant find the cheese grater.”
Peter glanced around, pointing to the edge of the other counter as he continued making his gravy. “Right there, Tones. You might need to put your glasses on,” he told him teasingly.
Tony grabbed the grater, glaring playfully at the younger man. “Not happening. I can see just fine. Those are just...for precaution.”
“Whatever you say, baby.”
Tony stuck his tongue out at him before grabbing the blocks of extra sharp cheddar and gruyere he was supposed to grate. It was an annoying job, but at least it didn’t take too long.
Before long he had a bowl piled high with shredded cheese and then went ahead and got some water on to boil for the pasta.
Peter had finished his gravy and set it to the side since it was complete. He’d started on the sweet potato casserole and the pumpkin pie simultaneously, expression focused and scrunched up.
Tony couldn’t help but smile as he looked to his husband. Peter was always so precious when he got focused on something, completely sucked in until it was done. It was just cute. But as far as Tony was concerned, everything that Peter did was cute.
A couple minutes passed and he was snapped out of his gazing when the other man turned to look at him.
“You told Steve to bring the rolls, right? Because it’s too late to start anything from scratch and we’re both occupied here so we can’t go buy anything.”
Tony watched the worried crease form between his partner’s brows as the younger man stressed. Even though everything was going to go perfectly. “I did. He and Barnes are covering bread, Nat has green beans, Thor is bringing something I’ve never heard of, Sam said something about cookies....” he listed off people who were supposed to be bringing things, trying to soothe Peter.
“What about Rhodey? Don’t tell me you forgot to invite him.”
“Calm down, honey. Sourpuss told me that he’s bringing a pie.”
Peter nodded slowly, relaxing and he took in and mentally sorted through all that Tony told him. “Okay. What about Clint?”
“With his own family tonight.”
“And Bruce?”
“He’s on that trip I mentioned the other day. It’s like you don’t even listen to me.”
Peter chose to ignore that comment, trying to see if they missed anyone else. “Wanda? Is she coming with-“
“She’s with the Barton’s. And Scott is with his family. Seriously, it’s okay. Everyone was invited. And all the food will be here. You have nothing to worry about,” he assured him.
The younger man nodded slowly, hands nervously brushing down the front of his apron. It was dusted with flour that had come off of his hands in the other times he’d done the exact motion.
Tony went to him, pulling him close and gently kissing his forehead. “Everything is going to be perfect. I promise. You’re so amazing, handling so much of this. It’s going to go well. You don’t need to worry, honey.”
Peter nodded again, trying to believe what he was hearing. But the soft kiss definitely helped him calm down a bit. “Thank you, Tony. Thank you. I love you. I just worry....this is our first thanksgiving that we’re, yknow-“ he held up his left hand, ring glinting under the bright lights of their kitchen. “So I need it to be perfect for that. But we’re also hosting everyone.”
His husband smiled affectionately, nodding as he talked. “I know. I know. But I promise you that everything will be perfect. Everyone is going to love it. And I’ve already loved preparing it with you. I love you too.”
That seemed to calm the younger man slightly, a smile on his face. “Okay. Thank you, Tones. Now- help me get the sauce for the mac and cheese finished, please. We have three pans of it to make.”
———
Just over an hour later, everything was done.
The rest of the team started filing in, handing their side dish offerings to Peter.
Team. Well, they were more than that. Especially considering the day. They were family.
Steve was up to help set the table while everyone else settled in. He raised an eyebrow at the sheer number of dishes he saw in the kitchen when he went in to get the plates an silverware, but he didn’t comment. He knew it would all get eaten. A group of super soldiers and powered people in general, a huge meal would be needed and definitely appreciated.
So he set the table for everyone, rolling his eyes when Tony sarcastically remarked about having to do everything after he accidentally put the knives on the wrong side. “So sorry, I’ve never had to set the table for someone so finicky about their manners.”
Tony pursed his lips, shaking his head. “It’s not for me. It’s for Peter. I’m just making sure everything is precise, down to the utensils.”
Steve glanced to the kitchen where Peter was still frantically perfecting everything. Then he nodded. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know.”
“No problem. Just making sure absolutely everything is right.”
Natasha watched them from her seat, expression amused. She was really excited and happy that she had been invited, but wasn’t going to show everything. “Peter, come on,” she called. “Everything is amazing. Come sit your ass down so we can eat and bother you with questions about holiday plans.”
A laugh was heard from the kitchen as Peter emerged with the turkey. Well, the first one. Tony had to grab the other. “Just trying to get everything on the table, ‘Tasha. Give me a moment. I thought you were the patient one.”
“I’m eyeing that bird, all patience is gone. I’m starving and everything here smells incredible. Hurry up,” she joked.
Peter set down the turkey he was carrying, Tony following suit soon after.
Then everyone was seated.
Tony hummed, grabbing Peter’s hand quickly. “Thank you for joining us tonight. You know you guys are so much more than a team to us. You’re our family.”
Everyone murmured in agreement, except Natasha who glanced up. She was holding back tears, because the great black widow never cried.
Everyone noticed. But they wouldn’t mention it.
Instead the dug in, each of them taking heaping plates and complimenting Peter and Tony on their successful gathering.
Peter was grinning ear to ear, cheeks flushed. He was proud. And so incredibly happy.
He had been so worried about everything being perfect. But all he needed for perfection was his family. And his wonderful husband.
“Happy thanksgiving,” he murmured, meeting Tony’s eyes.
“Happy thanksgiving, honey. You did good.”
“I know,” Peter said cheekily, looking around the table.

The Morning Of December 24th
“Natasha, for the love of all that is good, why are we out at 10 am shopping? On Christmas Eve might I add!”
Tiny snowflakes danced across the sky, some making home in your hair and on the planes of your face. Cold wind gushed towards you, making your skin feel as delicate and fragile as porcelain. Having lived in New York for a few years, one would have assumed that you knew how to handle the harsh weather by now, but apparently not. Even though you were wrapped in a very warming trench coat, your neck encased in a fur collar, you wrapped yourself into Natasha’s side for even more warmth.
The woman squeezed your arm that was wrapped around her own and kept walking all while ignoring your pleas to stop at the coffee house that looked oh-so inviting.
“Oh hush. You act like you are going to turn into Jack Frost!”
She chided you for a minute more and then pulled your body into a clothing store that seemed a bit too up-class for your liking.
“As for your second question, this is the answer. Tony is hosting an ugly Christmas sweater party tonight!”
Natasha unlatched from your arm and went into the center of the store. A sea of red and green blinded you and your friend was now practically swimming through the hundreds of racks all filled with ugly Christmas sweaters.
“Seriously, Nat! I could have just ordered one on Amazon or something.”
You frowned and decided to jump into the unknown and search for your friend who was seemingly lost at the moment. Standing on tippy toes, you tried to peer over and find her. It was all in vain until you saw a head of red hair excitedly pop up, almost like a groundhog exiting from its home. Natasha smiled widely at you with two ugly Christmas sweaters in hand. As you walked closer to her, you found that the sweaters in question weren’t actually separated yet they were actually one large conjoined sweater, presumably for two people.
“No,” before she could even speak, you had cut her off.
“C’mon (y/n)! Even you were thinking about it. I didn't even have to say anything to influence you.”
You shook your head and attempted to walk away when she grabbed your hand.
“Call him.”
Natasha stared into your eyes and you did the same, almost squinting back at her now.
With the slowest movements of your lips, you replied, “N-O, Natasha!”
Just as you thought this argument had been put to rest, Natasha sneakily snatched your cell phone from your back pocket and immediately FaceTimed your boyfriend, Steve.
“WHAT?!” At this point you were grabbing for the phone and waiting for Steve to ultimately pick up at any given moment.
“HOW DO YOU EVEN KNOW MY PASSWORD?” Natasha kept waving around your phone in the air as it was nothing, some bystanders even shamelessly watching at this point.
“I’m a spy, sweetheart. It’s simple. Also, your first mistake was to make your password your birthday.”
She pursed her lips and looked at you with a knowing look and you grumbled. Suddenly, the sound of the call being picked sounded and your blood froze. If it wasn’t already frozen from the frigid weather that is.
“Hey dol—Nat?”
“Hiya Cap! Your girlfriend is being a pain in my ass and we need you to settle this argument.”
You piped up and scurried over to get in the view of the camera.
“There is no argument! It’s a stupid sweater that’s all.”
Natasha looked at you once more and you did the same, this time snatching the phone from her.
“Well I guess you two don’t need me then?”
You could see Steve was visibly confused and clearly in the middle of something as Bucky and Sam were in the background attempting to hang some garland.
As you were about to tell Steve goodbye, you heard him suddenly chuckle. Confused, your eyes scanned the screen and that is where you spotted Natasha in the background of your own camera feed, jumping up and down while pointing to the sweater.
“Honey, why is Nat jumping around behind you. Did she have some caffeine or something? I’ve never seen her this hyper before.”
You started laughing as Steve didn’t know Natasha exactly like you did. She was your best friend and the two of you got on each other’s nerves, but never seriously of course. Natasha was a different person with you and quite frankly it was a lot more fun than her usual persona with the team.
“No Stevie, she stole my phone to try and get you to wear this sweater with me, but I know there’s no way you’d ever wear it.” Towards the end of your statement you were winking, and very noticeably at this point, hoping he would play along.
But alas, he didn’t catch on.
“Huh? You know me, angel. I’ll do anything for you!”
He was so sweet and innocent that it was hard to stay mad at him. At this point, Nat had stopped jumping and was now at your side, a proud smirk on her face. On the screen, Bucky had joined and Sam partially paid some attention to the conversation as he was now working with Wanda and her powers on the garland.
“Oh hey, Tasha! You gotta get us one of those, babe! Can’t let Rogers and (y/l/n) beat us this year, ya know?”
Natasha nodded vigorously and walked away to go and find said sweater. You just watched the two boys on the phone playfully nudge each other and drop a few “insults.”
“I’m going to leave you two to whatever that is. Good luck Sam, you too Wanda!”
The young woman looked towards the camera and you could hear her irritated grumble all the way from across the room.
“Should’ve gone with you guys!”
The Night of December 24th
You and Steve are standing shoulder to shoulder. Literally.
Minus the white camisole you are wearing beneath this thing, all you feel is Steve’s warm body and skin touching yours.
The two of you, after some time, finally managed to get the damn thing on.
“(y/n)! Step to the side and then let me slip my arm through.
Growing you did as he asked, when you immediately jumped back at Steve crushing your foot. The simple action throwing you both back.
“Steve, you were stepping on me!”
and then your favorite part of the whole fiasco, “Steven Rogers get your arm off of my waist.”
You turned and gave the man a side eye to which he shrugged with his own wide eyes. “What! I’m not doing anything and even if I was—”
Steve noticed your look, one that you don’t mess around with. “Care to finish that sentence, Cap?”
He made a motion as if he was zipping his lips and the two of you found it difficult to walk out of the door.
At the party, you eyed the room for the team. They were a mere few feet away, but you and Steve were already struggling to walk as it is.
Tony and Pepper were wearing some lighted tinsel sweaters while Bucky and Nat wore a conjoined reindeer sweater. Sam was sporting a literal Christmas tree sweater while Wanda wore a fruit cake themed ugly Christmas sweater.
Soon Bruce and Thor joined you all. Bruce had an avengers themed ugly sweater on, making you giggle a bit while Thor was just wearing a casual sweater.
“What is this nonsense that you are all wearing?”
Thor motioned to everyone’s different and most of all, ugly, sweaters, then prompting Bruce to explain the whole thing to him.
Eventually the festivities came to an end and you and Steve by now, had become experts at wearing this giant nap sack of a sweater.
Rhodey, who decided not to participate, instead became the judge of the contest. By now, everyone was tired and blissed out from the drinks and such. There was silence as you all sat around on the couch and chairs, but it was comfortable and enjoyable, not deafening. The team was your family and there was no other way you’d have it.
Sleepy, you leaned onto Steve who was still sitting beside you of course, because it’s not like he can run off.
He smiled when you finally gave in and placed a kiss on your head. The whole team saw you and Steve all snuggled up and napping away. From that, it was decided that you both had won the ugly sweater competition. Not because of your sweaters, but because of your PDA.

Soul-Bonded (Spideypool)(Broken Wings)
Welcome back to the Broken Wings Verse! We meet Spideypool in this one and they are so fun!
PART TWO
SERIES MASTERLIST HERE
************
*Note- This chapter starts in January after ‘All We Are Thankful For’ and before ‘May Flowers’
There wasn’t much room for a life outside the compound, not with Thor and Loki moved in semi-permanently and baby Maria being an adorable handful, or with Steve going through the worlds worst case of morning sickness and Tony running around taking care of the new baby and newly pregnant mate.
Sam and Natasha were constantly off on missions, Bucky was still working through his post partum depression and Bruce spent hours alongside him in companionable silence, the scientist well versed in the some of the worst depths of depression and knowing that sometimes only a quiet presence was needed.
Pepper spent her days working at Stark Industries but after the Tower had been compromised, she’d moved full time into the compound to manage their functional chaos. Colonel Rhodes had a full career in the Air Force but after Obadiah had come for Tony, Rhodey had moved a little more into the compound every month until he finally set up an office in his suite of rooms and spent more days there than gone.
So no, there wasn’t much room for a life that didn’t involve each other, that didn’t involve the entire family, that didn’t involve an activity inside the compound and the community and safety they had built together.
In fact out of everyone in their home, Clint was probably the only one who ventured out just for fun.
“Heads up, bird boy!”
Well, fun and for the occasional conversation with the always wacky and almost always hilarious Alpha Wade Wilson.
Clint tilted his head and listened to the whoosh that was Wade coming in for a no doubt terrible landing, scooted exactly six and a half inches down the bench, and waited with an expectant smile as the approaching Alpha tucked his wings and slid on the sidewalk gravel, missed the bench altogether and splatted onto the ground with an over loud ooph.
“Every time.” Clint went back to eating his sandwich calmly. “Every damn time. You know, if you slowed down your entry thirty seconds sooner you wouldn’t end up eating dirt every time we hang out.”
“But then I wouldn’t be able to impress you with my super slick moves.” Wade popped back up and brushed the gravel from his clothes, pushed his hoodie off just enough for Clint to see his smile, then pulled it back low over his face. “How’s it going? How’s that sandwich? I’m starving, gimme some.”
“No way, my Alpha bought me this sandwich.” Clint scowled and batted Wade’s hands away. “Don’t you have an Omega to buy you food?”
“My Omega is a starving college kid, now some hot bodied billionaire who somehow supports a weird sister-wife style haremin his super secret compound.” The Alpha said flatly, and then belatedly, “And also Pete isn’t my  Omega.”
“Sure he’s not.” Clint broke off half of the purposefully large sandwich-- he always got extra when he was meeting Wade-- and passed it to the mercenary, careful to not touch him more than necessary. Not that the Omega minded the way Wade’s skin was calloused and rough and ruined, but he knew Wade was self conscious about it just like the Alpha was self conscious of his tattered wings, so Clint made sure to drop the food right into Wade’s palm so the Alpha wouldn’t jerk back if their fingers brushed.
“You could come around you know.” Clint tucked his own wings back a little so they wouldn’t get in Wade’s way as they shared his lunch. “To the compound, I mean. I know you’re sort of anti-team work for some stupid reason, but you could bring your Omega and come to dinner. You said no to Christmas, but our regular dinners are pretty chill.”
Wade made a one handed motion that was the equivalent of hell no and Clint signed back a quick, frustrated why not?
“Why are we friends, Clint?” Wade wiped his mouth with his sleeve and felt around for the Omega’s drink, slurping at it loudly. “Beyond me being hilarious, you always having really great food and both us using sign language to make fun of people without them knowing.”
“Only you do that, Bud. Not me.”
“Omega, I learned how to sign just so I could talk shit with you about your teammates.” The Alpha countered. “And by the way? You were funnier before you got all mated up. You came around more often too. Where have you been?”
“Having lots and lots of sex with my Alpha.” Clint was only half joking, but the smile on his face was wholly adoring, his cherry blossom scent soaking with happiness as he tilted his head to show off his silvered biting mark. “Ever since Afghanistan, Tony likes everyone to be home as much as possible and after we bonded and baby Maria came around, most of us just like to stay home anyway. You should try it some time.”
“Bonding?” Wade asked blankly. “Staying home? Hanging out with Tony? Getting knotted up by your Alpha and having a kid? Which of those things should I try?”
“This is why nobody likes you.” Clint huffed an amused chuckle, and the Alpha flashed him a ‘fuck off’ motion. “Seriously though. Come by the compound some time. Bring your non-mate. My Alpha is awesome, we’ve got plenty of extra room and trust me when I say you and the wall crawler won’t even be the weirdest ones around. The twins aren’t home right now but you’ll meet them eventually and Thor brought his sibling Loki for the holidays so it’s like having a Chippendales Dancer and a super sexy Morticia Adams hanging out all the time.”
Wade made an unimpressed noise and Clint finished, “If the Chippendales dancer made thunder every time he got naked and if Morticia answered to they/them pronouns and had an actual insane amount of magic. Your Omega would have a good time and you and I could talk all sorts of shit about them in sign language.”
“I thought you didn’t talk shit about people in sign language.” The Alpha mocked, and Clint just rolled his eyes. “Yeah, I knew you were lying about that.”
“If I admit I talk crap about all the wacky people I know, will you consider bringing your Omega around to meet my family?”
“Pete’s not my Omega.” the answer was almost routine by now, the Alpha’s rough edged scent dipping towards melancholy for just a split second before lightening again so Wade could deliver his usual load of bullshit-- “Annnnnd I mean, I’ve seen your Alpha and don’t get me wrong, Tony’s hot and his butt is ridiculous and I have always considered a billionaire sugar daddy crucial to my life. But I’m not one of those Alphas that is okay letting another Alpha do the uh--”
This time Wade’s motion was less of a signed word and more of a crude gesture. “-- you know? And your Alpha seems like the type to be… Alpha-y.”
“First of all, my Alpha’s gorgeous and everyone in the world knows it.” Clint readily agreed. “Second of all, if you think Tony is all Alpha-y all the time, you should see him with Sam and Thor. And third--”
“--wait seriously, Ol’ Ironsides takes it from Ye Olde Thunder God and the red-feathered counselor guy?”
“--third, I didn’t mean for you and your Omega to come around in any romantic way. Peter is younger than the twins and I know you don’t do the whole multiple partner and poly thing, and that’s fine.” Clint held up both hands peacefully, feathers flicking out to brush just lightly against Wade’s arm in understanding. “It’s fine, we don’t expect everyone to be even remotely okay with how we live, but hey. You’re still welcome at the table and in the compound. We’re sort of the patron family for misfits and lets be honest, Wade. You and your mate are freaking misfits.”
“Thanks for that.”
“No it’s fine.” Clint insisted. “You guys would fit right in with the former Winter Soldier, the basement dwelling genius with the anger issues, the twins with their whole mutant thing and the trickster god that babysits my niece-y.”
The Omega finished his sandwich and licked his fingers clean. “And that isn’t even mentioning the recently defrosted super soldier, the ex-super spy and world’s deadliest ballerina, a bonafide full bird Colonel in the United States Air Force and of course Pepper, who is an enigma all on her own. It would be fun.”
“It sounds like it would be fun.” The Alpha admitted begrudgingly, and Clint raised his eyebrows hopefully, “So you’ll come around?”
“I’ll see if it fits into my shockingly busy social calendar, I might be able to fit it in between staring into the abyss and wallowing in self loathing.” Wade rolled his shoulders and shook his charcoal wings out, the tattered edges nearly touching Clint before falling away. “It’s my night to get burgers for the best booty in the city, so I gotta run. I’ll buy you a cheeseburger first though, if you want. You still hungry? Pretty Omega like you needs to keep his strength up.”
“I’ve got an Alpha who buys me all the cheeseburgers I could possibly want, remember?” Clint pointed out. “And by the way, what’s with you not calling Peter your Omega? Aren’t you two basically soul bonded?”
“Soul bonded, schmoul bonded.” The Alpha scoffed, but his frame hunched and feathers fluttered uncertainly. “That’s not a real thing.”
“It’s absolutely a real thing.” Clint countered right back. “You’re going to sit here and tell me you don’t think I’m soul bonded to my Alpha?”
“Well--”
“Or to the other Omegas?”
“Sheesh Clint, I dunno--”
“Or to Sam and Tasha or Pepper or Bruce or Rhodey just cos I’m not physically mated to them?” The Omega’s blue eyes flashed in annoyance and deep within his hood, Wade’s shifted red for just a second at the open challenge. “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I’d call any one of them mate just like I call my Alpha mate.”
“Not all of us get multiple mates.” Wade stood to his feet rather abruptly, and pulled his sleeves down over his hands, secured his hood closer around his face. “Hell, some of us were lucky to get a first mate and know there’s no chance at a second.”
“Is that what you think?” Clint’s wings dropped in sympathy for his friend. “I bet Peter feels different.”
“I’ll never know, cos I’ll never ask.” Wade might have been volatile and wild, but he was still an Alpha so he stood with damaged wings spread wide and protective while Clint stood up and patted at his pockets to check for wallet and phone. “You want me to wait with you until a cab comes?”
“A cab.” Clint outright laughed at him. “I’m bonded to Tony Stark, Wade. Do you think I take a cab anywhere?”
A sleek limo rolled up to the corner and the Alpha sighed, “Right. You took a limo worth more than my entire life just to share a sandwich with some asshole on a street corner.”
“Damn right I did.” Clint lifted his wings in a friendly goodbye. “Think about what I said, Wade. You and Peter would be welcome in our home.”
“I’ll think about it.”
The Alpha stood there on the corner until the limo disappeared into traffic, wings hugged close to his body and skin covered as possible so no one would get close and stare. He didn’t really need to worry of course-- people generally gave Wade a wide berth even if they didn’t notice his fucked up face and mutilated wings. Wade scented like danger and his mutation made him scent like wrong and if his scent wasn’t enough, his size and glare was usually enough to keep people walking.
But there was one person, one Omega in the city who not only seemed to enjoy the way Wade scented but seemed to almost crave it, who didn’t shy away from the Alpha’s skin but was always trying to curl in closer.
Clint was nice and honestly the Omega had come to be a hell of a friend, but Wade had his heart and eyes and soul set on someone else, even if deep in the center of his being he knew it wouldn’t ever work out.
From Peter: Where are you, Merc? I got our food nights mixed up and bought food when it was your turn, and I’m not saying I’m gonna eat eight burgers, but I am saying I’m freaking starving so maybe get here before the food disappears.
From Wade: On my way.
****************
It was always like this.
“Omega.” Wade never meant to address Peter as Omega when they met up after not seeing each other for a few days, and he never meant for his wings to present but that’s what happened anyway. Omega and shabby feathers opening wide in a hopeful greeting and even though Wade always meant to hide and play it cool, to call the Omega Pete and scoff at the way Pete said he’d missed him--
--it was always like this, and Wade could never hide.
“Alpha.” Peter was gorgeous, all long legs and lean limbs and beautifully full wings, maroon feathers and only the very tips of his primaries colored so dark blue they were almost black, big eyes and a bigger smile as he all but ran across the rooftop to get to Wade. “Alpha.”
“Hey baby boy.” Yet another thing Wade never meant to say, but it came so easy just like it was easy to gather Peter up into a hug and lose himself in the warmth of the Omega’s arms for way too long.
“Did you uh--” it was always like this, Wade clearing his throat and trying to act unaffected and failing spectacularly because there wasn’t an inch of his body that wasn’t dialed to a thousand in Peter’s presence. “--so did you save me any food?”
“I….” Peter hesitated, drew the word out. “I planned to? But you took so long that I ate all the burgers and had to go get you more food.” and then softer, “Sorry?”
“You’re not sorry.” the Alpha shoved Peter away, and then just as quickly grabbed him back and Peter laughed in delight and pressed up to his side as they headed towards their regular hang out spot up against the massive AC unit. “What’s up, why are you so hungry?”
“Heat’s coming up.” Peter flopped gracelessly down onto the roof and dug into the newest bag of food, tore open a taco and crammed half of it into his mouth then passed the bag over to Wade, tucked his wings in and patted the floor so the Alpha would sit down right next to him. “I’m starving all the time right now, so whatever you don’t eat just throw my way.”
“When are you due?” It was absolutely crazy that Wade could even get a sentence out right now, because the thought of Peter in heat never failed to make his blood pressure sky rocket. To make matters worse the Omega was always so damn casual about it, always so damn nonchalant as if the word heat didn’t make Wade half feral with immediate need.
“Early next week.” Peter swallowed an obscene amount of taco and grabbed for the soda, draining half of it in one go. “You uh--” the Omega wiped his mouth and shot a curious look over at Wade, his wings lifting hopefully. “You want to help?”
Shit.
It was always like this.
Peter would ask Wade to share his heat, Wade would come up with some bullshit excuse--
“Nah, Pete. Next week I plan to be tanning my ass on the beach.”
“Nah, Pete. I’m practicing abstinence, Sister Margaret's is actually a convent, not a bar.”
“Nah, Pete--”
Just nah, Pete because even though Wade took great pleasure in knotting the super powered Omega up outside of heat, inside of heat was a different story.
Peter’s heat meant rut for Wade, meant that the Alpha’s already volatile emotions would lash out of control, that when Peter said more Wade would give him too much, that when the Omega gasped yes Wade would lose his mind, that if Peter so much as offered up a square inch of his neck Wade would bite him and mate him and then the pretty perfect Omega would be locked into a bond with a monster like him and that was just awful.
“Nah, Pete.” he said today, and it was always like this, soul deep loathing and heart ache that made his head spin when the Omega’s bright eyes dimmed and slid away. “I uh--I already made plans for this weekend. Other friends.”
“You don’t have friends other than me.” Peter accused good naturedly, but his honeysuckle scent had already dipped in sadness, his feathers rustling uneasily as he gathered them tighter around himself. “If you aren’t ready to hear me challenge your manhood by shrieking you aren’t knotting me fast enough, that’s fine. Just admit it.”
“I can fully admit that my manhood will not survive being shrieked at because I can’t pop a knot fast enough.” Wade deadpanned and Peter laughed and Wade laughed, and they moved on because that’s what they always did.
After a moment Peter even relaxed enough to let his wings down again and he was gratified when Wade immediately moved close enough for their feathers to mingle.
It had taken a long time for the Alpha to get to the point of being comfortable showing his wings and skin to Peter, and it had taken even longer for Wade not to jerk away every time Peter got close. It had been countless conversations and reassurances, quiet admissions in the dark as they patrolled the city, louder arguments when their partnership tipped towards friendship and Peter didn’t have to mince his words so much and it was the night Peter tried to kiss the Alpha that Wade had finally snapped and shouted.
“I’m ruined, Omega, pretty Omega. Ruined and I don’t want to ruin you by getting too close so leave me the hell alone! Back off!”
But there wasn’t a shy bone in Peter’s body, and he might have been an Omega but the spider-y mutation and instincts led him towards predator so he’d matched the big Alpha step for step, inch for inch as they back tracked through an alley and up to a brick wall.
“I’m not much in the habit of running away.” he’d hissed into Wade’s ear, held his wings back and away so they didn’t touch but dug his own fingers into the Alpha’s feathers and ripped a groan of pure arousal from Wade’s throat. “Not from bad guys, not from monsters, not from the Alpha I want as mine.”
“Pete--”
“Show me your wings.” Peter demanded and the Alpha had growled at him. “Show me your skin. Show me your ruin and see if I don’t find you beautiful.”
They had kissed then, kissed and kissed and kissed, bit at each other and growled and wrestled because Wade was strong but Peter was stronger and the Omega pushed the Alpha right to the brink and then a little bit further until Wade had roared, ‘Settle’ and charcoal wings burst high above his back and arced over their bodies, cast Peter in a shadow and blacked out the moon and it was just them.
“Beautiful.” Peter had whispered, and Wade’s kiss had left him bleeding, aching, yearning for more.
“My Alpha.” he’d whispered and the weight of the Alpha’s knot had left him sore and limping and ready to bare his neck and beg for Wade’s bite.
But it wasn’t meant to be, not yet, so instead it was always like this.
Rooftop meet ups for dinner before patrol. Late night scans of the city. Chasing down baddies and laughing at each other for being dangerous dorks. Going two or three nights without hanging out and Wade’s voice was a rumble when he called Omega and Peter could never stop his wings from snapping out wide to present for his intended mate. Sex that was the only time Wade wasn’t shy about his skin, about his mutation-ruined feathers, about eyes that stayed blood red more often than they were hazel because he ran so close to feral.
...heat that the Omega spent alone because it was the only thing Wade ever said no to, the only thing the Alpha ever denied him, the only time Peter’s smile ever dimmed or his wings ever fell away or there was ever an awkward silence.
Soul-bonded, Auntie May called it, in all her infinite wisdom. Peter and Wade were soul bonded and that mattered more than whether or not the Alpha would ever be ready to bite him, whether or not Peter ever got tired of waiting and tried to move on to Harry or Matt or even Eddie who knew and understood his life and would have been so pleased to have an Omega like Peter at their side.
Soul-bonded, Clint had called it. Peter and Wade were soul bonded like he and Tony’s other Omega mates were soul bonded, like he and the Betas were soul bonded because at some point it stopped being about the actual act of mating and biting each other and became more about what their hearts needed and souls fulfilled and that was what mattered.
Soul-bonded, like Vanessa used to say before she’d gone and taken everything beautiful about Wade’s world with her. Meant to be together even when the world looked on and couldn’t believe it, drawn together beyond anything that made sense or felt normal, made for each other and suddenly whole.
Soul-bonded and both Peter and Wade knew it was true, and the knowing had to be enough for now.
This had to be enough for now, so Peter spent January’s heat alone, calling Wade in between rounds to talk and laugh and maybe just once, just twice reminding the Alpha that he could come over and it would be fine, that they could get lost in rut together and it would be fine.
But Wade said no because he always did, then he made up for it on Valentines Day when he bought Peter no less than three dozen different bouquets of various flowers, paid a barbershop quartet to serenade Peter at his day job for the Daily Planet and then bought out an obscene amount of chocolate so they could eat it together beneath the stars on their favorite rooftop.
It wasn’t heat and it wasn’t a bite, but it was Wade being willing to be bare with Peter later that night in his apartment, nothing but maroon feathers brushing against tattered charcoal wings as they dug quickly healing bruises into each other’s hips and let kisses get sharp and messy. Peter showed off that endlessly acrobatic agility and jaw dropping strength to take exactly what he needed from his Alpha over and over until he was heavy and full and Wade was still driving into him because soul bonded wasn’t close to enough but they had to pretend it was enough for now.
Spring in the city brought earlier sunrises and warmer nights and sometime around Spring Break when the colleges emptied and their usual patrol routes were slower, Peter and Wade found time to be slower too. They lingered over meals and lingered over kisses and sometimes when the Omega moved just right the Alpha would catch him up closer, Peter would tip his head and purr and Wade would come within a fraction of giving in to every instinct in his body and taking what his Omega was so ready to offer.
Spring heat was harder than the others, an Omega’s body surging with the same urges and needs that had filtered through every piece of creation since the beginning of time. Spring meant new life, meant survival, meant a second chance at what the Winter had kept so cold. Spring meant mating, it meant bonding, biting and breeding and the Omega was lush, he was lush and his wings were full and presented upwards whenever Wade so much as smiled at him.
One Spring night they were lost in a kiss that was set to consume Peter’s very soul when Wade yanked away and stumbled back, the Alpha wiping his mouth and bending over to drag in a harsh breath and Peter self consciously adjusted his half torn shirt, his pants back over his hips.
“Alpha?” he asked softly, and Wade made a noise like he was choking. “What-- what’s wrong? It’s not super great for an Omega’s self esteem for you to go running like that, what happened?”
“You’re ripe.” Wade ground out. “Ripe, baby boy.”
“I stink?” The Omega’s voice rose in alarm, and he backpedaled several steps to sniff under his arms. “Shit, sorry. I’ll go and get a shower before patrol, it’s only gonna get worse once we’re out running around.”
“No.” it was Spring and the Alpha felt the same things Peter did, the same urgency to bond and bite and breed so when Peter started to turn away, Wade lunged for him, charcoal wings flared high and aggressive for only a moment before they wrapped possessive and protective around the slim Omega and hauled him up close. “No.”
“You said I stink!”
“I said you were ripe.” Wade’s teeth scraped over Peter’s bonding spot, and the Omega went very very still. “I said you were ripe, you don’t stink you’re-- you’re--” A half a snarl and the Alpha clutched him up tighter. “You’re gorgeous Pete. Pretty Omega, such a sweet Omega, smell so good. Smell ripe, Fertile.”
“Oh.” Syrupy thick desire wound through Peter’s veins and poured through his honeysuckle scent. “Oh yes, Alpha. That’s all for you. That’s-- you-- I’m yours, Wade. Yours.”
“Sure smell like mine.” Wade dragged his mouth up the Omega’s throat, huffed at his hair, at the softest spot by his ear then teeth closed blunt and shocking at his pulse. “Smell ready. Good enough to eat.”
“Well I’m-- I’m right here.” Peter swallowed, tilted his head to the side against the pressure of the Alpha at his neck. “T-Take a bite.”
Spring was rough, the heats hard and the rut close to the surface and if the Alpha and Omega weren’t plastered to each other trying to make their enough really truly feel like enough, then they were snapping at each other, popping their teeth and growling because too much of a good thing was a bad thing and if they couldn't have everything, they didn’t want to be together at all.
“Good god, you’re cranky!” Clint exclaimed one day in early April when he reached for a bag of french fries they were supposed to be sharing, and the Alpha actually snarled and rustled his wings warningly. “You’re supposed to give pretty Omega’s food, not withhold it from them!”
“Sorry.” Wade’s wings lifted only briefly in apology as he hurried up and shoved the fries at Clint. “Sorry. Don’t tell your Alpha I snarled at you. The last thing I need is Ol’ Iron Sides unleashing one of those gauntlets at me cos I made you sad or something.”
“Look, I might be a bratty Omega but I’m not a bitchy Omega.” Clint took a handful and pushed the rest back at Wade. “I’m not going to go crying home cos my friend didn’t want to share his food. So don’t worry, your ass should be gauntlet free for the foreseeable future.”
The Alpha smiled only the tiniest bit, and Clint brushed lightly at Wade’s side with his feathers. “Seriously, what’s going on? You’re stressed enough to snap and you scent like death. Not like your usual smoke and fire but honestly like death. What’s up?”
“It’s Pete.”
“...oh.” Clint swallowed his food around the lump suddenly in his throat. “Shit, Wade is everything okay? Is he alright? What happened? Is it something my Alpha could help with?”
“It’s cute how you feel like your Alpha can solve any problem possible.” Wade hunched over on the bench and rubbed the heel of his palm into his eyes. “And Pete’s fine, it’s just ah-- he’s just--”
Clint waited, and after another minute of stammering Wade finally made the sign for heat and then alone and then for himself fucking horny.
“Oh.” The Omega blinked, and then, “OH! Oh Peter’s in heat and you’re out here trying to drown your horny in a bag of french fries. Got it.”
The mouthy Omega snorted a laugh when Wade’s wings fluffed out in immediate annoyance. “Put your wings away, man. You couldn’t possibly believe I wasn’t going to make fun of you for this. Why the heck are you out here getting lunch with me when you should be taking care of your mate?!”
“He’s not my mate.” Wade ground out, and the words were like broken glass in the Alpha’s mouth. “Pete’s not my mate, that’s why I don’t stay with him for heat. I’ll knot the shit outta him as soon as he’s done cos that’s what--”
“--if you say that’s what friends do, I’ll throw my soda at you.” Clint interjected. “You two are soul bonded, remember? Ask him to wear a collar like my Alpha did for us, then you can bite him all you want without worrying about some non existent issue about actually bonding. Plus, Omegas are gorgeous in collars. Sometimes I wear mine and nothing else just to drive my Alpha crazy.”
The Alpha scowled at him, hazel eyes flickering red beneath his hoodie. “Is everyone in your harem family this nosy and open with TMI details?”
“Yep.” Clint popped the ‘p’ of the word. “You can’t share a home and share beds like we do and keep secrets, that’s crazy.  Secrets  lead to insecurity and insecurity leads to jealousy and we just don’t have room for that sort of thing in the compound. Not with multiple Alphas and various super powered people and Tony as head of the family. No way.”
“You could not have sounded more like a cult right then if you tried.”
“Yeah, I know. We talk like that just to piss Pepper off. Tony keeps telling her to buy us robes and take the tax right off, but she doesn’t think it’s as funny as we do.” the Omega swirled his french fry through a glob of ketchup. “Have you put any more thought into coming by our place? I know upstate is a journey but Tony would let you use one of the helicopters. It’s almost our Alpha’s birthday, so maybe if your Omega isn’t in heat next month you could come up then?”
“Pete’s  not my--”
“Sure he’s not.” Clint opened his dark brown wings and let one rest gently, friendly over Wade’s bowed shoulders, his cherry blossom scent lightening sweet and comforting when he saw the misery on the Alpha’s face. “Sure he’s not.”

Chapter Notes:
Hawkeye and Deadpool have teamed up in the comic books before, and I thought Clint was the perfect person to bring Wade around vs the usual “Tony knows Peter” arc!
How much do we love sassy Omega Peter?

Natasha Romanoff x Reader : Escape
Summary: The Red Room haunts you, from the moment you stepped foot inside to long after you’ve left. Truth is, you don’t think there is any escaping it.
Warnings: 18+ Violence, Depression, Mentions of Death, Smut
Chapter 15
******
Silence settles over the building. Aside from the pained breaths escaping Bruce’s lips no one makes a sound.
After the stones had been set in the gauntlet, and there was a brief discrepancy over who would snap, Bruce decided to do it. Despite it being painful, he’d still managed to do it. Now you all wait for some sign of it having worked.
You feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
It’s the faintest sound but you recognize it, birds chirping. Scott walks over to the window.
Natasha’s hand squeezes yours when a trill ring sounds. All eyes snap to the plastic device ringing on a nearby table.
Moving like a snail, Clint inches towards his cell phone. Tears spring into his eyes immediately and he scoops it up.
“Honey? Honey?”
A smile breaks across you face. Natasha throws herself into your arms kissing your lips repeatedly.
“Guys! I think it worked.” Scott calls.
But the joy is short lived. For you before anyone else.
Rushing wind. You listen closer. An aircraft of some sort? It gets louder.
You panic and quickly press the Black Widow symbol on your wife’s belt, just barely watching the black nanotech cover her body.
A weight presses on to your left arm. Pain bursts through your ribs. Water drips on your forehead.
When your eyes snap open there’s nothing but darkness, minus the sparking of electricity coming from your wrist. Cursing, you tap the band and almost jump when the nanotech suddenly spreads from the bands and over your body.
The dark toned suit covers you and gives you the additional strength to un-wedge your arm from the rubble.
You roll your shoulders, adjusting to the additional armor.
Tony was right, an iron suit would come in handy.
Suddenly you remember.
“Tasha!” You exclaim into your comms.“ Natasha answer me! Is anyone with Natasha?”
Assist finally boots up and you frantically search for Natasha’s vitals through the A.I.
“Tasha, baby, please tell me you’re okay.”
Under different circumstances you wouldn’t have wanted everyone on the comms to hear your panic and distress. But this is your wife, you don’t give a single damn who hears if it means making sure she’s okay.
Just as your blasting through another wall of rubble, you hear the static in your ear, followed by her voice.
“Y/N, I’m-” she breaks up,“ I’m okay.”
“Where are you?” You ask, eyes searching the opening you stumble into.
Assist finally displays her vitals. Her heart rate is a little high but you expect nothing less. On a whim, as you hadn’t designed it for this, you ask Assist to find vitals on the baby.
It’s highly possible it won’t work.
So you’re breathing a sigh of relief when Assist displays the babies heart beat. They’re still alive and until an actual check up can be made that’s enough.
“I don’t know, but I’m with Clint.” Natasha answers after a minute.
Hearing that calms you. At least a little.
Still, you won’t truly settle until you see her, until you have her in your arms.
The three of you aren’t the only ones trapped. Eventually you hear Rhodey’s distress call, he’s under here somewhere in danger of drowning.
You move as quickly as possible, searching for wherever Rhodey is. He’s with Rocket and Bruce. As you search, you catch bits and pieces of Tony, Steve, and Thor’s voices.
A broken statement from Thor, of killing someone, comes through and you’re filled with dread.
Thanos.
It has to be. But how?
Everything that’s happening confuses the hell out of you. It’s clear that Tony, Steve, and Thor are fighting Thanos. Rhodey, Rocket, and Bruce are taking on water but Scott says he’s there. You’ve yet to hear from Clint or Natasha again, sans some unidentifiable grunting.
You know you’ve reached Rhodey’s location when you step into knee deep water.
Not wasting a second, you go under the water. It’s easy to find Rhodey and Rocket, they’re holding their breaths but struggling to get free. Swimming over, you lift the bits of rubble that have Rhodey pinned down before grabbing him and Rocket and bringing them to the small space you’d come from.
You dive back under in search of Bruce.
Whatever is happening above is making the rubble down here fall faster.
Finally you reach him. Despite the suit it’s still difficult to get the large man to the surface. But you manage to.
“Tha-thank you.” Bruce speaks through water filled coughs and deep breaths.
Simply nodding, you survey your surroundings. Assist lets you know that there’s a thick layer of debris above you. Too large a shift will result in your inevitable demise.
“Guys we’re trapped down here. There’s too much rubble above us for me to break through.” You speak into the comms.
More static hits your ears and you know you’re too far under to get the signal to anyone above.
Just as you’re about to give up, a rapidly growing Ant-Man emerges from under the water. He scoops you all into his hand and bursts through the wreckage of the compound.
As you rise, a big blue and red metal capsule flies over. It breaks apart before forming around Rhodey’s body. A suit.
Looking down you take in the many light circled portals. Familiar faces stand outside of them, the people you’d fought beside in Wakanda five years ago. Others you’ve never met.
Scott lowers you to the ground and you jump out of his hand. A glance to your side reveals your wife, clad in her own black iron suit, and her best friend.
War cries sound behind you.
“AVENGERS!”
Everyone turns to face Thanos and his large army. You quickly produce two standard pistols.
“Assemble!”
When you fight this time it’s harder than the last. Determination to beat Thanos drives each move you make. Every time you take down one of the many aliens, you feel as if you’re getting stronger.
The first time Thanos came you were solely motivated by protecting the universe. Now though, now you fight for your family, you fight for your wife and unborn child. You fight for the future that is so close you could taste it.
A groan falls from your lips at how many of these creatures there are. Ones you remember from Wakanda and new ones as well.
Managing to clear the enemies in your immediate area, you pause to take a breather.
“Don’t tell me you’re getting tired lyubov moya.”
Natasha stops beside you, the mask of her suit disappearing to reveal her face. Apart from some dirt she looks fine.
“We both know I have stamina for days baby.” You retort cockily, also revealing your face.
Before you can see the flush of her cheeks, her mask reforms.
“You two should really learn how to read a room.” Sam’s input in your conversation makes you laugh.
A smirk clear on your face, you shrug, speaking a noncommittal sorry into the comms before resuming the fight.
The fighting seems to last hours with no clear view of who’s to win. It all shifts though when Clint asks Steve what to do with the gauntlet.
Steve is unsure at first. The original plan was to return them after the snap but the bombing destroyed the portal. Scott is quick to remind you all of his van.
Except it’s in the middle of the sea of Thanos’ army. So everyone begins to work together to get the gauntlet to the van.
It literally becomes a game of hot potato. The gauntlet is passed through multiple sets of hands. Even getting from the King’s hands to yours to Peter’s.
Faintly through the comms you hear the gruff shout of the mad titan, but you have no clue what he said. It becomes clear though when his ships start to fire relentlessly.
Being completely out in the open, you scramble to find cover. Only for your wife to appear at you side. She throws her arm up, the shield from her suit covering the top of you both.
No, you hadn’t put the shield interface in your suit. You hadn’t had the time.
The blasts do more damage to Thanos’ army than it does to your side. He’s thinned his army by an enormous amount but doesn’t let up firing. That is until it suddenly stops.
Everyone looks on as the ships aim to the sky.
A literal ball of fire shoots through the clouds. Crashing through the biggest ship and completely disabling it.
The second you recognize it as Carol you smile wide. Not just at seeing your friend but also at the obvious shift in the battle. It finally seems as though you have a chance.
Now to get those stones to the portal.
Both you and Natasha head toward where Carol landed, arriving to see Peter Parker handing her the gauntlet.
“I don't know how you're gonna get it through all that.” The kid states, looking from the advancing wave of enemies to Carol.
Wanda lands right behind the space traveling woman,“ don't worry-”
“She's not alone.” Your wife finishes.
Wanda smiles over at Natasha. Every woman apart of the battle assumes a spot around Carol, readying their weapons.
“Is it just me, or do you ladies feel insanely powerful right about now?” You ask, smiling approvingly at the female power surrounding you.
Pepper chuckles and Carol agrees.
From there each of you kick as much ass as possible to clear the way for Carol.
Natasha, Valkyrie, Wanda, and Pepper handle covering the air. They take down the giant flying creatures while also shooting at enemies on the ground.
Despite trying to stick close to Carol, you end up getting caught in an onslaught of ape like aliens and the creatures from Wakanda.
It takes a minute but you are able to take them all out. Chest heaving, your eyes snap over the field, lingering on the battles being had, and focusing on the most important part of everything.
Carol speeds through ships and enemies toward the van. From your position you see Thanos charging at her, only to be stopped by Tony, Pepper, and Rhodey.
He stumbles back, but doesn’t lose focus of Carol and the gauntlet. You watch as he throws his weapon toward the van and you blast it with a repulsor beam that is milliseconds from missing but hits it’s target.
The sword is knocked off course, flying in the opposite direction as Carol gets the gauntlet to the van.
Pure euphoria spreads through your chest as she hands the gauntlet off to Scott before he and Hope vanish into the quantum realm.
Thanos rages, concentration switching from you to Carol, essentially locking on to you, the reason he’s failed.
“Uh, angry titan, angry titan!” You exclaim into the comms, shooting a repulsor beam at the giant, pistols forgotten all together.
It knocks him back, but only a little. You look around for a possible plan of action, only to stop short when the problem is resolved.
A lightening covered axe sails towards you, cleanly slicing through the neck of the titan, stopping inches from your form, and then returning to the hands of the god.
Beheaded, the titan’s body falls to the ground. The so called children of Thanos have long since been dealt with, leaving the few seemingly mindless creatures behind. But they’re quickly being dealt with.
Still you hold your breath, eyes falling to the ugly brown van stuck in rubble.
The quantum tunnel still pulses with light and you watch it closely. Only to mentally fist pump when Scott and Hope reappear in front of it, empty gauntlet in hand.
With the mad titan dealt with and the stones returned, the threat to the universe vanishes. Everyone deals with the remaining aliens until the field is littered with their bodies and rubble from destroyed ships.
Yet you don’t breathe easy. Instead you look all over the field, panning over superheroes and warriors, familiar faces meet your eyes but not the one your looking for.
Next you search the ground. Maybe she’s just unconscious or underneath a bit of rubble. But nothing.
Dread floods your system, thoughts whip through your head as you process that she’s nowhere to be seen. She can’t possibly be gone. You’d done everything you could to ensure you didn’t lose her.
What could’ve possibly gotten through the suit? How had you managed to screw that up?
Tony and Pepper, in each other’s embrace, look over to you. Their concerned gazes grabs Steve’s attention who looks at you as well. The lack of your wife’s presence beside you has them searching the field as well.
Your vision starts to blur, panic blinding you to whatever they start to say.
You quite literally start to crumble in on yourself, until you feel the soft hands on each side of your face, a familiar warmth accompanying them, but you struggle to focus on her.
“Breathe lyubov moya.” Her sultry voice slips into your ears and soothes your mind.
She strokes your cheeks with her thumbs, coaxing you into security.
With her whisper of “I’m okay” you’re finally breathing properly. Blinking back unshed tears, you pull her into your embrace. Your suits clink together but you couldn’t care less.
Instinct has her face resting in the crook of your neck, warm breath fighting the sudden chilly wind. You kiss her neck, just above the retracted metal of her iron suit.
You remain in her embrace for a moment longer, needing the assurance and grounding. After pulling away, you can’t help but smile at the sight of everyone that you’d watched disappear five years ago, plus the additional faces of the people you’d yet to meet.
A nonverbal agreement is made to reconvene to celebrate at a later time, when things have settled, and you all aren’t standing in a crater moments from flooding.
Hand in hand with Natasha, you exit the hole in the ground.
“Please tell me you’re taking me home.”
Getting a good look at your wife, you see the adrenaline slipping away and revealing her exhaustion. She’s still incredibly gorgeous behind the thing layer of dirt on her face and minor cuts.
How she managed to get cuts on her face through the mask is unbeknownst to you, but you’re determined to make sure she’s taken care of.
“Hospital first, home second.”
She gives a tired sigh, but agrees nonetheless.
Knowing they may not have anywhere to go, you offer the keys to your lake house to Steve, telling him that they are free to use the place to get clean and rest up.
You don’t leave with Natasha until after she’s said a couple ‘goodbye’s and ‘see you later’s.

Yelena
Hi everyone, as promised when I reach 50,000 hits! We get to see a different side of Yelena, a bit softer since we hear her inner thoughts. I hope you enjoy!  (Also, unlike the other mini fics I post on here, this one is canon and exists within the series!)  _____________________________________________________________
           I am barely old enough to tie my shoes, I when I meet Natasha. She walks in first, leading a group of young girls like her- wet and frozen. But she holds her head high and commands the room, despite barely being up to the guards’ waist. It hadn’t been my first time seeing her, as I look down from my hiding spot on the stairs, but it is my first time noticing her. The next day, during our free hour, I seek her out.            She is in the courtyard, alone. We are never alone here, so this being the case is odd. It took a great deal of effort on my side to get out here without Fredrik, one of the guards for the younger girls, to notice me.            “Hello,” she greets me without taking attention off her task, “Yelena, correct?” She turns around now, her eyes bright and face kind. Kindness, such a rarity.            “Yes,”            “I am Natalia,” She sets down the stick in her hand, “You were watching last night, when we came home.”            “I heard some of the older girls, this is when they start to have less of us.”            “The trick is to take off your coat and keep your hands cupped.” She sits down on the grass, stick in hand once more. I walk over, looking down at her project. They are swirling lines, graceful, looking like art. “It is cursive English. I am practicing,” She explains.            “No one else would tell me about the water,”            “Everyone else wants you dead,” She states matter-of-factly. No deception or tricks.            “You don’t?” I do not yet understand the permanence of death, only that it was undesirable, worse than even the Red Room.            “No.” She wipes the sand from her palms, and then leans back to look up at the sky.            “Why?”            “I don’t want any of them to die. I can’t save everyone, but I’ll die trying.” Her mouth form into a hard line, and to most, it would cute, seeing a little girl seem so resolute. But that same look of determination, years later, would cause men to scream in fear.            “You talk like an adult,” She always spoke as though she lived a thousand lifetimes. I would joke later on that she was born serious. Though sometimes, later on, she would point out clouds in the sky that look like different animals, or weapons. And on rare occasions, we would spin each other around as fast as we could, to fall back and look at the sky spinning above us.            “See Yelena? We make the world go ‘round,” she’d joke.            And then, two days after our meeting, we are in a combined class. Three different years, all together, working on letters of different alphabets. My elbow knocks over a jar of red paint, splattering across a stack of white paper, like blood on skin. Last week, Svetlana tripped and broke a plate. Madame slit her arm with a letter opener. I stare at the pile of paint in fear, unable to move or make a sound. Natalia appears at my side. She stains the arm of her shirt with paint and begins to apologize loudly. Madame walks over, since that night, she seems to always be where Natalia is, and sees the mess.            “Did you knock over this paint?”            “Yes, Madame,” The woman strikes like a snake- her cane striking the back of Natalia’s knees, forcing her to the ground. “Clean it up. Then you clear her up as well,” I look down and see I am stained with paint, across my stomach like a bullet wound.            “Why did you do that?” I ask as Natalia washes my pinafore.            “I am going to protect you, like sisters.” Familial words like that are forbidden, even saying friend will get you a warning glare.            “Sisters,” I reply, watching as she wipes out the red.
           I am nearly eight when I first see Natalia crack, just a little. She is angry, furious. She tries to run away, without me. I heard what everyone was saying. She made her first kill. Secretly gentle Natalia, who once hid and nursed a baby bird back to health in her courtyard. The bird still visits, and I frequently find her smiling out the window when she sees it. Or not smiling. Just happier than the flatness she normally sports.             But in front of me now, she dances with glass in her shoes. A morbid part of me thinks of Cinderella’s glass slippers. Perhaps this is what really happened to her feet. When she finally stops, Madame breaks her cheekbone, for her pride, I think. For being unbreakable.            The last time I see Natasha in the Red Room, our courtyard days are long over. Both of us have graduated and sit at a table separate from the students. The number of adult Widows has dwindled as the KGB sends us on more dangerous missions.            Her spark has begun to dim. She is getting worn down, like they want. The first that burns with in her, that in explicably Natalia, should not be put out. That evening, for the first time in a long while, I slip into her bed.            She moves closer, so our shoulder touch, something she doesn’t normally allow anymore. Since she turned thirteen, she has grown more and more opposed, and I don’t need to ask why.            “I have a mission in America tomorrow.”            “Alone?” She nods in the dark.            “Don’t come back,” I request, daring to speak the words. She stiffens beside me.            “Don’t say silly things, Yelena. We are not children.”            “They are going to kill you.”            “It is what I was made for.”            “No. You were made for better things. If you get the opportunity, don’t come back.”            “There is only one way I don’t,” she whispers, “I will bring you back sweets, Little Sister. They’ll be hidden in the same spot as always,” Inside the rip in my mattress. It hadn’t occurred to me until now, that the reason she keeps coming back, might be for me.            Except she doesn’t, and I am grateful. They tell me she is dead, but I know better. The next time I see her, it is to burn this place to the ground.            In America, she has people who care for her. A best friend who takes me in, a nephew. And they welcome me in too. We celebrate Christmas together, spend time with one and other. Natasha, as she is now called, is finding herself again. That fire within her grows stronger once more, rising out of the embers that had begun to die out.            After Christmas, I leave for Europe, following leads about the Red Room. There is a rumor that Ivan is still alive, that he could resurrect what Tasha and I destroyed. I have to kill him, kill him before he can find out Natasha is alive, or get anywhere near her. His prized possession. That is what he used to call her. I step out of my taxi, heading into the hotel lobby, where the once lush carpets are worn down from years of suitcase wheels and feet. A bellhop smiles at me, and a man sitting at a nearby table, drinking coffee, catches my eye.  _______________________________________________________________
           “Yelena?” I blink, feeling nauseous. Clint, Tasha’s American, is sitting close to me, too close. He looks almost as though he has seen a ghost. A part of me, for some reason, feels like it has been a long time since we have seen each other, though it has only been a few weeks.            “You look old,” I tilt my head. He grins and squeezes my shoulder. “Where are we?”            “We’re on a quinjet, we rescued you,”            “Rescued?” He seems reluctant to answer.            “You were being held prisoner,” I feel pressure building up in my head, the feeling of hitting a wall.            “Where’s Tasha?” I get up from the cot, my legs unsteady, and pull back the curtain. Rather than seeing Natasha in the cockpit as I expected, there is a gaggle of individuals deep in discussion. A slight brunette catches my eye, blushing furiously and looking away.            “Yelena, they’re friends,”            “I don’t know, they not friends.” I growl.            “They are my friends, Nat’s,” Clint explains, “Tony, Sam, Rhodey, Bruce, and,”            “Wanda,” The girl offers, her voice timid and unsure. He looks at her with a particular tenderness that makes me inspect the girl closer. She has folded into herself, as if she is trying to disappear.            “Nice to meet a member of Nat’s family. I was always curious,”            “Not the time, Tony.” The American glares at the man. Though, they all seem American.            “Where is Tasha?” I try again.            “We’re on our way to her now. We were on a mission,” One of the men, Sam, explains. I look him up and down and give him a little smirk. The girl calls my attention again, however. She does not speak again, playing with the rings on her fingers.            We touch down on the tarmac and the gangplank drops. They do not handcuff me, which seems foolish on their part. Though, I suppose I am not a prisoner. But maybe I should be, I don’t know what I have been doing since I last saw Natasha.            “Hey Friday,” Tony begins, “When are Steve and Nat landing?”            “They are currently in the kitchen,” I break into a sprint. There is some kind of AI wired throughout the area, and I ask for directions. The AI, whom had been referred to as Friday, provides the answers promptly. AI, something that had seemed like a distant future just days ago, or weeks, months, years.            I skid to a stop in the kitchen. Her red hair shines like a beacon.            “Tasha,” I breathe, my heart aching. My mind may not know how long it has been, but my soul clearly does.             She spins around, along with the man she is with, gun drawn. I put my hands up, remaining passive. A piece of me fears she does not remember me, does not know who I am. But she has to, it is us.            Clint and his little friend run into the room, panting. They quickly take in the scene and turn their attention to Natasha.            “Nat, put down the gun,” He tries. She doesn’t take her hard gaze off of me, the gun steady.            “That isn’t, it can’t be, you saw, you were,” She speaks in half sentences, her words becoming lost in her head, in her memories. Whatever happened to me, she was there for it.            “Is me, Tasha,” I swear once Clint affirms who I am. She is beginning to become distressed, her hands starting to shake. I’m upsetting her.            “Mom,” The girl says quietly. Mom? I whip around, looking at her. She still sounds fragile, quiet. But she called Natasha mom. “It’s her. I looked. I saw her giving you a pair of ballet slippers and sitting with Cooper as a baby.” What the hell does that mean? I saw, how would she see? Home videos, maybe? How does that ensure I am me?            She comes between Natasha and I, gently taking the gun out of Natasha’s hand and putting it back in her holster. There is a quiet moment shared between the two, before she finally speaks.            “Lena?” Relief, elation. Elation is the only word I can use to describe the optimistic hope that lilts up at the end of my name.            “Hi Tasha,” I beam.            “How are you here?”            “I don’t know,” I feel pressure begin to build again, “I think it has been long time, yes? It feels like long time.”            Ten years she tells me. She tries to take the blame, as she did when we were children. Whatever happened, I know it was not her fault. She had begun to panic, believing none of this is real, that I am not real. I tease gently about her pulling a gun on me again, though it is a legitimate concern.            Then she properly introduces Wanda. The girl doesn’t meet my eyes, almost hiding behind her mother. Her mother. Natasha has a daughter. An adopted daughter, like how I am her adopted sister. Because that is what Natasha has always done, she takes in strays, people in need of help.
           The girl. Wanda. She sits next to me on my couch, while Natasha is on her date with Steve. This couch from Pottery Barn that we bought together, after she had shown me a particular episode of Friends. Clint informed me that she does not talk a lot to anyone but Natasha, even his own children and her best friend, a fellow superhero, get few words from her. So, whenever she says anything to me, I feel particularly flattered.            And the guilt for what I had done to her when I first found out about her past continues to eat me alive. Guilt is supposed to be Natasha’s specialty, but it seems as though I am taking on some of her traits.            “We order takeout?” I ask the witch. She looks up from her phone, where she scrolls through social media, a new trend that I am still trying to catch up with.            “Okay,” She looks back down.            “You can go home,” I offer, not wanting her to feel trapped. Her lips pinch momentarily, “You stay, I order food,” She raises an eyebrow before going back to scrolling.            I have no clue how I am supposed to be an aunt. Barton’s children, they refer to me as Auntie Lena, and that is definitely my familial position with Wanda. But I’m twenty-, no. I’m in my thirties. I pass a mirror on my way into the kitchen, catching a look at my face. Time has barely passed on my body, in my mind, but the world kept going while I was on pause.            “Wanda,” I call, coming to a decision, “We go out,” I come back into the living room, the girl craning her neck to look at me. “Put on nice dress, we go out. Have fun.”             She stares at me, considering for a moment, before nodding, hopping up from the sofa, her powers bursting.            “What are we doing?”            “Go to gala,”            “What gala?”            “I not decide yet. Put on gown and be back in twenty. I do your hair.”            She returns fifteen minutes later, donning a ruby red satin gown. It looks custom made. She also holds a makeup box and a red clutch, clearly well loved.            “I was supposed to wear this to a charity event in November,” she explains, sitting down at my bathroom vanity. I’m given no other explanation, and though I wait in silence for more information, unlike most people, she does not open up.            I sweep her hair to the side into a side bun. She leans forward, doing her own makeup. She glances back at me every few seconds, taking her attention off her eyeshadow.            “Do you want me to do your makeup?” She puts down her brush. She stands up, and I can hear the faint mechanical whir of her leg as she stands up. To anyone with unenhanced hearing, it would be silent. I don’t know how I missed it initially.                        I sit down on the stool and face her. Wanda’s eyes meet mine momentarily before looking away, going through her palette.            “You like doing makeup?”            “I used to wear it a lot,” She shrugs and continues to do her work, and then steps back to admire it. “Okay,” She picks up a handheld mirror.            “Oh, you should have been one to do Tasha’s makeup for date,” Wanda blushes to the color of her dress, ducking her head. “Okay, I go change, then we leave.”            When I come out of my room, wearing a dress the color of a night sky, Wanda is busy scrolling through her phone.            “There is a gala at 583 Park Avenue tonight, it is for one of the mayor’s pet projects.”            “We go,” She watches as I grab my beaded wallet, “I call us cab,”            “Uber, Yelena. No one calls taxis anymore.” She rolls her eyes, teasing, and we head down to the lobby.            We take the car to the venue, and the beautiful Greek revival is lit up by glowing pendants, the four pillars casting shadows down on us. Security stands at the front, checking everyone for a ticket.            “They are sold out online,” Wanda’s bottom lip juts out.            “Come on,” I grab her hand, pull her behind me as I round the corner, heading towards the back entrance of the building. “You watch and play along, da?”            “Okay,” I spy a pair of busboys sharing a joint, taking a break from the mayhem of the evening. I think of the whole song and dance I had planned to get us in. Fake being locked out, fight with my boyfriend who is a staffer for the mayor and got us tickets.            “Three hundred for each of you if you let us in.” The pair exchange a glance and stand up holding out their hands and opening the side door.            “That was watch and learn?” Wanda laughs as we head down the hall.            “Sometimes money speaks better than words,”            We enter the hall and I grab us each a glass of champagne. It is not very often, or rather never, that I get to attend galas without having to kill or torture somebody. However, Wanda seems to fit right in. She wears large diamond studs, each the size of a blueberry, and this custom-made gown. However, her anxiety is visible in the way she grips her clutch, almost like a security blanket.            “Is special to you?”            “Hm?” She follows my eyes to her wallet. “Oh, this is the first gift Nat every bought me. It was for my sixteenth birthday.” Her face softens at the memory.             “We find people to dance with, come.” She laughs as I introduce her as a foreign princess, and the man plays along, despite the obvious fact that she is her.            I, on the other hand, am still harder to identify. The world news has not been plastered with my face for the past two years as it has her. I am not burned into the collective consciousness. I dance with a woman is a white cocktail dress, keeping one eye on Wanda the entire time.            After two songs, the pair break apart, and I bid the woman adieu. Wanda takes an empty seat, and I next to her.            “Hello,” I look at the nametag, “Mr. Abbot,”            “Mrs. Pruitt,” She responds, eyes twinkling. We order more champagne, or rather Wanda does while I switch to vodka on the rocks, and take canapes and caviar off passing trays.            “And then, as Tasha in middle of mission, she stop to,”            “Stops to save a cat from being hit by a car,” A voice finishes. I turn around.            Natasha and Steve stand behind us. Natasha looks stuck somewhere between amused and stern, while Steve is doing nothing to hide how humorous he finds the situation.             “How did you two get in here?”            “I pay,” I reply hotly, jutting out my chin. She moves her gaze to Wanda.            “We bribed the busboys.”            “I not say who we pay,”            “Do you even know what this event is for?”            “Dogs?” “Children?” We both say at the same time, causing a fit of laughter. My sister pinches the bridge of her nose.            “Well, since you two are here, you may as well come to the after party,” She looks to Steve for agreement, who nods. “But you, Little Witch, will not be having any more champagne,” Wanda’s face, already flushed from alcohol, seems to redden even more. “Come on,” Nat leads us out the front door where a town car awaits.            “We are sorry for ruining date night, I had no idea that you were going to be there,”            “It was on the calendar in the kitchen, perhaps that is where your subconscious got the idea,” Natasha teases and fixes the strap on her daughters dress as we climb into the car.            We pull up at the Avengers Tower, and take the elevator up to the penthouse.            “There you are, and you brought company!” Tony cheers, “Good, I could use some of her expertise,” I expect him to be pointing at me, but instead he is at Wanda, “You are the expert at naming things, I have a list of baby names and need your help,”            “I thought you were naming her Morgan,” Nat calls, heading over to the bar.            “Middle names, Natalie!”            “Did he say names, plural?” Steve asks.            “Did he call you Natalie?” Natasha pours Steve a glass of whiskey and I another cup of vodka before coming around the bar with her own drink, a martini.            “You snuck my underaged daughter into a gala,” She leans back next to me, watching Wanda and Tony, while Steve begins to thumb through the vinyls next to the record player.            “Was either that or Chinese food again,”              “Maybe try bowling next time,”            “With ax throwing,” I grin.            “Galas, then,” Natasha laughs.            “Sorry for ruining date night,” I say earnestly. I hadn’t expected them to be there.            “Oh, please,” She waves me off, “Tony already did. Pepper called us saying Tony was here at the tower, working late, and you know,” She nods to the empty bottles, “Trying to develop a special crib or something. Asked Steve and I to check in. We ran into you two while we were heading out.”            “You can’t give her the middle name Una, then her name would be Morguna,”            “I like the sound of that, put it on the list!” Tony cheers, while Wanda scrawls on the glass screen.            “This is good life,” Steve finally selects a record, and the Beatles start to play. The first lyrics, Flew in from Miami Beach BOAC, cause Natasha to grin. “Is our song!” I cry out, tugging her out into the center of the room, kicking off my heels. She laughs as I spin her around, spilling her drink the process.             Tony, Steve, and Wanda join in as we dance to the Beatles at one in the morning, I can’t imagine a life any better.

Love Isn’t Always On Time Part Thirty Seven
Previous Part | Next Part | Masterlist Notes: Not Beta-Read.   Also if you’ve asked to be added to the tag lis and I haven’t, I’m sorry! This is my sideblog and I can’t reply to messages without it being my main (if that makes sense) so just shoot me either an IM or a message on my inbox and I’ll add you I hope everyone’s doing well :) Warnings: Some cursing? Summary: Call me old-fashioned, but I thought three people standing at a bar, all wearing sunglasses and baseball caps may stand out a little.
Tumblr media
The twenty minutes that had followed the broadcast had been status quo for the last two years of my life, and had been the modus operandi in my time with the Howlies - “Grab your shit, we need to be out of here in twenty.” New mission, new parameters. But there were new lines now that we were in danger of crossing. Any actions that we took to go after Bucky wouldn’t be sanctioned by General Ross, by the UN; everyone would be watching us way more closely now.
Steve was tracking down what he could on recon when it came to Bucky; Sharon had promised to feed back what she could without suspicion and while keeping her head above water with the investigation. The image of Bucky was everywhere - a collar pulled up around his neck, a black cap fitted over his head, but he looked directly at the camera.
Sam and I were waiting at a coffee bar as Steve made contact with Natasha; the bombing was on every single channel, everyone around us was talking about it. I kept my head down as much as I could, feeling conspicuous even in black baseball cap and sunglasses. Call me old-fashioned, but I thought three people standing at a bar, all wearing sunglasses and baseball caps may stand out a little. “Something is off about this,” Sam grumbled, “After all of the trouble he’s gone through the keep his head down for the past couple of years, there’s no way he’d slip up just to attack the Accords and then get caught out like that.” “Unless some HYDRA asshole got to him and he’s been reactivated,” I offered quietly, “Or it’s not him at all. Remember that mask ‘Tasha had when we were in D.C.? He could be framed. And he’s already been forced to do so much, wouldn’t be implausible that he’s been made to do something else.” We quieted down as Steve came back in; I could tell from the tightness in his jaw that the conversation with Natasha didn’t go the way he wanted it. “She tell you to stay out of it?” Sam asked. When Steve didn’t answer, he tacked on, “Might have a point.” "He’d do it for me,” Steve pointed out. “In 1945, maybe. I just want to make sure we considered all our options. The people that shoot at you usually wind up shooting at me. And this one hasn’t spent that much time since she splashed back down in the 2000s,” Sam tacked on, nodding in my direction. Steve caught my eye over the top of his sunglasses, and I averted my eyes. “If you have reservations about this, Wilson, have them, but don’t drag me into that,” I argued softly. Sam grunted in turn, quieting down as Sharon settled in beside Steve. “Tips have been pouring in since that footage went public. Everybody thinks the Winter soldier goes to their gym. Most of it's noise. Except for this. My boss expects a briefing, pretty much now...so that's all the head start you're gonna get,” She relayed, passing Steve a file. “Thank you,” He mumbled. “And you're gonna have to hurry,” Sharon warned. My blood ran cold when she added, “We have orders to shoot on sight.”
--
“I don’t like this,” I said quietly, glancing up at the building. Sam was stationed on the roof, and I was keeping to the alleyway of the building, waiting on a rented motorcycle that Steve and I had driven over on. Steve looked at the cowl in his hands. We didn’t have the time to contemplate, but I couldn’t shake the feeling in my gut. “Stay out here, keep to the comms, fall back unless I tell you,” he repeated. I pursed my lips and give him a tight nod, averting my eyes to the street. Steve cupped my chin, forcing me to look at him. “It’s safest this way,” He reminded me gently. “I know,” I mumbled, “Just... Go, and be careful.” Steve pressed a kiss to my forehead before he fitted his cowl on, buckling it and heading inside. I watched the door shut behind him before I looked up to the roof at where Sam was peering down at us. I gave him a wave, signalling that Steve had gone inside. “... I’ve got German special forces approaching from the South,” Sam warned. I grimaced, leg shaking impatiently. “Come on, Steve,” I mumbled, waiting for him to open the comm, to give the all clear to come up, something. I didn’t get that. What I got instead was the sound of gunfire, yelling. I kept my eyes on the sky, waiting for a signal from Sam or a call from Steve. What I did see was Bucky jump from one roof to another, then another  person jump after him. I brought my hand up to my ear. “Sam, what the hell is that?” “It looks like a cat man!” Sam yelled back. “A fuckin’ what?” I asked, unable to help a delirious laugh. “They’re heading for the sidewalk,” Sam warned in place of another answer, “Southwest corner!” I started my bike up, pulling my helmet on and pulling the visor down as I sped in the direction Sam mentioned. I could see them - there was Bucky, Steve, and another figure running at an unreal speed. “They’re heading for the underpass,” I groaned, picking up speed. I wasn’t sure what was worse at this point - Bucky jumping carelessly into oncoming traffic, the unidentified CatMan chasing him, or the fact that we still had German Special Forces on our tail. Even in my time in the 40s, even the recon mission in Roessel hadn’t presented me with so many opportunities to die on the spot. German Special Forces had largely paid me no mind, and I used that to my advantage, focusing my energy on defensive driving, diverting other vehicles from the chase, offering Steve and Sam space and cover where I could. I managed to follow Steve’s order, hanging back until Sam flicked the CatMan toward a detonation and fell back onto my bike to keep the both of us from getting caught under the fall of rubble that Bucky had set off. I would’ve taken a harder fall if it hadn’t been for Sam’s wings. I pushed off of the ground, hurrying out of the artificial light with Sam and spotting Steve and Bucky where they’d finally come to a stop with War Machine. “Stand down,” Rhodey warned from behind the visor. Sam and I brought our hands up, crowding closer to the others as German Special Forces closed us in. Bucky and Steve turned their heads to see who else he could possibly be addressing; I saw recognition wash over Bucky’s face in a quick, painful wave before he turned back to the matter at hand.
I would’ve moved closer, but there was Sam’s hand on my shoulder, carefully anchoring me in place to stop me from doing something stupid, like breaking into a run when there were god knows how many guns pointed at us. Part of me didn’t care. Bucky was here, he was in one piece, he saw me and he knew exactly who I was. But I also wasn’t the only one in the line of fire, and one stupid word or step out of line could spell even worse consequences for all of us. I cast Sam a pleading look despite this, and he gave me a small shake of his head. I kept carefully quiet as I watched soldiers shove Bucky to the ground and cuff him. Across from them, CatMan retracted his claws, reached up, and pulled off his helmet. My eyes widened at the sight of Prince T‘Challa. It took everything in me not to fight the cuffs being put on me, not to argue as I was strong-armed toward a vehicle with Sam and Steve and Prince T’Challa. “Shouldn’t he be getting a limo?” Sam muttered as we were nudged into a van. I shot him a look, fighting the smile that pulled at my lips. We were fucked, and we knew it. The Accords had been signed, we were way out of jurisdiction; we had gone essentially gone rogue. The ride was fairly quiet. Until, “So, you like cats?”

Best Of Friends
Pairing: No pairing, just soft Tony ;)
A/N: Takes place somewhere between Iron man 3 and Avengers Age of Ultron. I haven’t posted this one on Watty yet soooo....
~
"So, what are we going to do while Rhodes and Pep are gone?" Tony looked up from the fashion magazine he was skimming through, clearly uninterested in the clothing and only paying attention to the models. "We could watch a Christmas movie?" Natasha was bored out of her mind and Christmas movies with a nice cup of hot cocoa sounded relaxing.
Tony threw the magazine to the side and got out two mugs, he knew exactly how Nat liked her cocoa. "Jarvis, heat some water please," he pondered for a moment "and turn on the fireplace as well,"
"Of course, sir," The AI obligated to Starks command, Jarvis also knew that Tony would like the TV on for later. He knew his boss too well.
Natasha walked out to get cozy blankets and socks, she loved being warm. Tony chuckled when he saw her try and make it down the stairs, blankets and pillows were stacked on top of each other, blocking her view. Once she got to the bottom she lowered them just a bit and shot Tony a soft smile.
Tony placed down the hot chocolates on their rightfully owned coasters Definitely not the Black Widow and Iron Man ones. Natasha threw the pile of comfies on the couch then jumped on it, giggling like crazy.
In the compound, she felt like she finally had a family, a family she never had before. She could be herself, or she could be complete grumpy pants and they’d still love her. Sure, she acted as though she hates the boys, but in reality, she couldn’t imagine her life without them.
-
Moments had passed and Pepper, Rhodey and one other were making their way through Tony's doors.
"We're back" Pepper singsonged, voice filled with amusement. But she didn't receive a response, which filled her with worry. "Tony?" She called out as she walked to the kitchen, Rhodey and the little surprise following close behind.
"I believe Boss and Ms. Romanov are in the living room, sleeping," Jarvis called, spooking the little Harley the two had snuck in. "Thank you, Jarvis," Rhodey offered Hayley a cookie from the McDonalds they got on the way back.
Pepper walked into the living room, you could hear her shoes click on the tile floor. Once she reached it, she cooed at the sight. Tony and Natasha were curled up in a blanket next to each other, the fireplace and Home Alone on, cups of hot chocolate now abandoned on the coffee table, most likely cold.
Harley soon sauntered to where Pepper, Tasha and Tony were. He took the last bite of his stale fast food cookie and brushed past his mother figure. A small smile grew on his face as he lifted part of the blanket to snuggle into the mechanic.
The little gesture lightly awoke Tony from his slumber. Normally, he would be grumpy
But realizing it was his kid next to him filled him with joy. Tony then looked to his other side and saw his little widow snuggled into his arm.
To say he felt safe around these two would’ve been an understatement. He loved both Tasha and Harley unconditionally and nothing can change the fact that they were like his own children. So, he hugged both of them tighter and slowly fell back into his little nap.
“Jarvis, could you take a photo?” Rhodey smirked from behind Pepper. Soft Tony was only around his loved ones, possibly a wall-climbing spider in the future but whatever breaks its way into his heart is a mystery.

Winter Mistakes-- Chapter 2: Girl's Night
Biker!Bucky x Reader
Masterlist
Warnings: Drinking, Bucky in leather, brief mention of sex, America's Ass
Tumblr media
It had been a few days since the breakup and so far, you didn’t feel much of a change emotionally. Yes, Rumlow was definitely an asshole, but something felt…weird. You mentioned this to Nat a few times now, but all she told you was that you needed to get out there and find someone better. Next time, you’d say every time she wanted to drag you out for a girl’s night. You wanted to follow her advice, but just couldn’t bring yourself to it. It was an internal struggle that hadn’t left you since the breakup and it was pissing you off.
    You were at home, gathering your tenth snack of the night as you prepared for another night of lounging around and binge-watching your favorite show. You were making your way to the couch with your snack when you heard the door to your apartment open. You placed the contents of your hands on the coffee table and sat down, waiting for Nat to invite you to yet another girl’s night.
    “Oh good, you’re not doing anything,” she said, making her way to the couch where you sat with a shopping bag in hand. “No,” you sassed, “I’m not doing anything. Why, did you have something in mind?” Nat stood directly in front of you, giving you that smirk that suggested she was up to something. The look that made you want to punch that pretty Russian face. “Actually, now that you mention it,” she began in a teasing voice, “There’s this one bar in Brooklyn that I’ve been looking into.” You sighed, letting your head drop. “Nat, I already told you tha--” “Before you say no,” she interrupted, pulling something out of the bag she was carrying, “I have a peace offering.” She took out a bottle of your favorite wine. You looked at her with a raised eyebrow, moving your hand slowly to grab the bottle from her hands. “Natasha Romanov, you are the love of my life,” you said, finally giving in. Nat gave you a beaming smile, “I know, sweetie. I also have something for you to wear. Now you can’t give me the bullshit excuse that you have nothing to wear.”
    She took out a royal blue velvet top and a mini pencil skirt. Not something you’d normally wear, but she wanted you to get out there. You took in a long breath, “Fine, but you’re buying the drinks.” You took the newly bought outfit to your room to change and get ready for the night while Natasha stayed in the living room celebrating. “And wear your thigh highs with it!” she called out from the living room, making you roll your eyes and laugh. This was going to be a long night.
~~~~~
    The door of the bar opened, making Tony look up from the glass he was cleaning. Steve walked over to him, a smile etched on his features. “Big night?” Tony asked, knowing something was causing his cheery attitude. “Oh ya,” Steve beamed, sitting on one of the stools, “Nat’s finally coming over.” Tony raised both eyebrows, “Wow, in that case, I’ll bring out the fine glasses. You think she’ll prefer ceramic or porcelain?” Steve chuckled, leaning both elbows on the bar.
    “He just got the text from lover girl and hasn’t stopped smiling since,” Sam complained as he sat down next to him, “I’m considering smacking the back of his head to see if it helps.” Sam picked up one of the glasses Tony had already cleaned, examining it as the rest of the crew joined them on the bar. “If anyone is smacking some sense back into him,” Bucky snorted, moving to sit on the stool to Steve’s left, “It’s gonna be me.” Tony rolled his eyes, going back to what he was doing before he was distracted. Steve sat up straight, keeping his hands on the bar, “Oh let me be. I’m only smiling cause I haven’t seen my best girl in a while.” Both Sam and Bucky rolled their eyes, letting out a disapproving groan. “Besides,” Steve laughed, “She’s bringing a friend.” Sam perked up slightly, raising his eyebrows, “Ah, so she’s got a friend. You think she’s single?” Bucky snorted, taking a bottle of whiskey and pouring himself in an already clean glass. “He wouldn’t be mentioning it if she wasn’t, Wilson,” he said, taking a sip of his drink, “Sometimes I wonder how you got into this club in the first place.” Before Sam could say anything to defend himself, Steve interrupted, “Alright you two, calm down before you start breaking bottles on each other's heads.”
“Cause that was so fun to clean up last time,” Tony complained, going to the staff room to get more bottles. The three men simply ignored his annoyed complaint and went back to talking. “So what’s she like?” Bucky asked, keeping his eyes fixed on his drink. “By what Nat told me, she’s unique. She just got out of a relationship with this asshole and Nat wants to help her move on,” Steve explained, grabbing a glass for himself. “That does not sound like a good idea,” Sam muttered, still holding the glass. “Ya well, she deserves something better,” Steve responded, “Actually, I think you might like her, Buck.” Bucky finished his drink, turning to look at his best friend in confusion, “What makes you think I need a girl?” Sam burst into laughter, putting down the glass as his laugh echoed through the empty bar. “Steve, he doesn’t need a girl. He needs therapy!” Sam laughed, receiving a death glare from Bucky. “Bite me, Wilson,” Bucky sneered.
“What time?” Sam asked with a smirk. “Dammit, you two,” Steve sighed, putting down his glass. Bucky shook his head, looking back at Steve as he poured himself another drink. “So does this girl have a name?” Bucky asked, taking a sip from his newly filled glass. Steve smirked, “Her name’s Y/N.”
    “Hurry up, will you?” Nat urged, making her way down the busy street with you following behind. “What’s the rush? The line going to be long?” You asked, trying to catch up to Nat while making sure your skirt didn’t bunch up. Nat began to slow down as you two approached the bar entrance. “Nope,” she smiled, “I just wanna see my man.” You looked up to see the name of the establishment. Avenging Tower Bar and HQ. Interesting to say the least. Turning to look at the street, you saw a row of motorcycles lined up. You caught up to her at the entrance where a man was leaning on the door with a cigar on his lips. “You girls lost?” he asked, standing up straight. “Nope, I’m Natasha,” Nat said confidently as she made to walk in. The man stopped her, looking at you, “I know you, but your friend I don’t know.” You looked at him in confusion as Nat rolled her eyes and took your arm. “It’s cool, Rhodey. She’s with me. Steve knows she came too,” Nat explained before pushing past him.
    The bar looked like something out of a bar fight scene--at least without the fight. It was dim, there were pool tables, multiple booths, dart-boards on the walls, and random motorcycle related decorations that made it obvious it was a biker bar. Fun. The room was just below the point of being crowded, with the bar almost full and only a few tables empty. “Everyone here knows the bikers. That’s the only way people can get in,” Nat yelled to you over the music. She dragged you over to the crowded bar, sitting you down on one of the empty stools.
“Hey Tony!” She called the bartender. Tony turned to face the two of you, focusing more on you. “Tasha! Nice of you to join! I take it this is Y/N,” he said, motioning to you. You turned to Nat, surprised that she told your bartender friend about you. “The one and only,” Nat smirked, “Where’s Cap?” You suddenly felt someone else stand behind you. “Turn around and find out dollface,” a deep, baritone voice spoke. Nat almost jumped into the arms of the man who’d just joined you. So this was the boyfriend she told you about. The one she’d met about five or six months ago.The biker that got into an accident that a driver had caused and then tried to commit fraud on the insurance papers. The legal case that made her love her job as an attorney. Captain Handsome, she told you. She was right about him being handsome.
“So this is the infamous Y/N,” he said, turning his attention to you. “Infamous?” you questioned, turning to Nat, who just shrugged. “Well, Nat told me all about how the two of you are partners in crime,” he explained. You got a better look at him now. Distressed navy blue denim jeans with a black t-shirt tucked under a black leather jacket with a patch on the left side of his chest that said “Captain.” His blonde hair was a bit messy, but in a charming way and he was growing a hint of a beard on his chin.
“Ya, that’s me,” you confirmed, snapping out of your thoughts. He smiled, extending his hand out to you, “I’m Steve, but everyone here calls me Cap.” You shook his hand, “Nice to finally meet you, Captain Handsome.” His eyes widened as he let go of your hand and looked to Nat. “That’s how you talked about me to your friends?” he asked in surprise. Nat shrugged, “Would you have preferred me to say Mr. America’s Ass?” You had to suppress your laugh. Of course she would! Steve cleared his throat, “Ok, you ladies get something to drink and I’ll let the guys know you’re here.” With that, he turned and began to walk back to the booth he came from.
That’s when your eyes caught his. That handsome stranger you’d seen when you were examining the room. His eyes were on you since you'd arrived. You first noticed his eyes on you when Nat introduced you to Tony. Those steel blue eyes never left you for a second since you'd arrived. Maybe after a few drinks, you'd muster up enough liquid courage to approach him. Who knows. The night was still young, and those gorgeous blue eyes would still be on you for a while.
“We’ll start with four shots of your best vodka, Tones,” Nat ordered.
After a few drinks, you’d loosened up enough to start having some fun and meet the rest of the gang. “You ready to meet some bad influences?” Nat asked, taking her drink as she stood up. Tony made her a signature drink after she helped Steve with his case. He called it the black widow. “They can’t be worse than you,” you laughed, following her as she walked away from the bar and towards the booth full of bikers. Just like you suspected, steel-eyed-stranger was still looking at you. He shifted in his seat as he noticed you were getting closer. Was he anticipating you coming over?
“Hey fellas!” Nat exclaimed, standing a few feet from the table “This is Y/N.” Instantly, all seven men in leather jackets turned their attention to you and Nat. You shifted your stance awkwardly, waving your hand slightly. “She’s prettier than I thought,” one of them said. Nat gave him a look of disapproval, “Really Scott?” The guy sitting to his left punched his arm, making him whine. “Well she is!” he said, rubbing his arm. You rolled your eyes, playfully. “Welcome to the Tower,” Steve greeted, standing from his seat, “This is Bucky, Sam, Scott, Clint, T’challa, and Thor.” They each greeted you with a wave, nod, or their own form of acknowledgment. Except [him]. He just stared at you with a completely unreadable expression. Steve motioned for you to join them, letting you and Nat squeeze in.
Of course, you had to be sitting right next to that drop-dead handsome man you’d now know is named Bucky. He scooted to his left a bit for you to feel comfortable. You smiled at him appreciatively, looking deeply into those gorgeous blue eyes that made you think of the ocean after a storm. Absolutely beautiful. A conversation began within the booth, but you were too focused on Bucky to even realize what was going on. The way he smiled at you just added on to his beauty and made you never want to look away. That was until Nat got your attention.
“You gonna ask him to dance, or do you plan to make love to him with your eyes?” she whispered to you. Instantly, you whipped your head around to glare at her. “C’mon Cap, let’s dance the night away,” she said as she got up and began to take Steve to the dance floor. You turned back to Bucky, partly flustered by your friend’s shameless nature. Bucky chuckled slightly, offering his hand to you.
“May I have this dance?”
Title: Who’s Gonna Pick You Up? Collaborator Name: ceealaina Card Number: 3088 Link: AO3 Square Filled: T4 - First Date Ship: WinterIron Rating: Teen Major Tags: Alternate universe - no powers Summary: In a world where Tony is less playboy and more awkward nerd, he's mostly bored and lonely now that he's graduated from MIT and Rhodey's off on his Air Force adventures. Agreeing to a blind date with Ty Stone doesn't turn out to be his best plan, but luckily Nat's there to save to day. (And even more luckily, she's got a cute brother and Tony is just his type.) Word Count: 5200
All Natasha had wanted was a cup of coffee, and an hour to herself.
Bucky and Clint and Sam had been driving her crazy all day, starting when she had woken up and gone downstairs only to find dregs in the coffee pot and Clint’s dirty underwear on the kitchen counter.
The morning went downhill from there. She loved her adopted brother and the two dumb idiots they lived with, but sometimes the three of them could get on her last nerve. This was one of those times. So after narrowly avoiding getting shot in the foot with an arrow (long story) she had grabbed a book and headed for the coffee shop on the corner for some peace and quiet.
And for about fifteen minutes, she’d had it.
Which, of course, was when Smarmy Assholes 1 and 2 had walked in.
Natasha read people. She couldn’t help it; it was just something she did. So as soon as they passed through the door, she couldn’t help cataloguing them. And when they snagged a table near her, she couldn’t help eyeing them over the top of her book, keeping an ear out for what they had to say. It was somehow even grosser than she’d expected.
“It’s not like I want to,” the taller guy was saying. “But he’s Tony Stark. I get in with him and I’ll have business connections for the next few decades -- not that I’d even have to work, with all the money I’d be getting out of him. I just have to suck it up for a bit, turn on the charm, make him fall in love with me. It’s not like it will be hard.”
“Still,” his friend said. “You’ve seen him, Ty. All quiet and shy and… Weird. Seems all needy, too. I’ve heard he’s only got like, one friend, and he’s off with the Navy or something. He’ll be following you around like a lost puppy.”
“Can't be worse than you, Justin,” Ty retorted, making Justin flush and look away. “Anyway,” he continued. “Needy can be good.” He smirked then, a look that Nat knew entirely too well, and her fists clenched as she fought the urge to punch him in the face. “It’ll be so easy to talk him into anything I want. And he’ll be so busy falling over himself trying to please me, he probably won’t even care who else I’m screwing on the side.”
Justin was smirking too now. “Get some good blackmail pics and you’ve got him for good.”
Natasha quietly seethed. These two chucklefucks were practically twirling moustaches they were so gross. It was a little ridiculous, like they’d gone to the same school of cartoon villainy, but she was having none of it. She was just considering the best way the traumatize them for life when the bell over the door rang, catching her attention. She looked over to see a slight man walk in, about twenty years old. His hair was a mess of dark curls that he kept pushing out of his face, and he was just a little too dressed up for a cafe -- fitted pants offset with a Van Halen tee and a sports jacket. There was a streak of grease or engine oil on his forearm that he apparently hadn’t noticed, and he was looking around for someone, a little nervous but mostly looking pleased and hopeful in a way that made Natasha’s heart clench.
A quick glance over showed that Justin and Ty were still plotting to kick puppies or whatever, and, making a split second decision, Nat hopped to her feet and headed for the door.
“Tony?” she asked, carefully aligning herself to block him from their view. When he turned at the sound of her voice, she gave him a bright, disarming smile. “Hi! I’m Tasha. I think you’re here to meet me?”
“T-Tasha?” he repeated, looking confused for a minute. “I... But Obie said... I thought...” He stammered a minute, looking flustered, and Natasha waited patiently.
“Is everything okay?”
He seemed to get a hold of himself again, giving her a bright smile, hopeful like before. “Yes, sorry. I think I got your... name wrong. I was a bit distracted when Obie was telling me about you.” He held out his hand. “I’m Tony... but then, I guess you already know that.” He laughed a little, a self deprecating note in it as his cheeks flushed a little. “It’s nice to meet you.”
Natasha adored him already.
“You too,” she told him, returning his handshake and then shifting to give him a kiss on the cheek. His blush deepened and he gave her a shy look from under ridiculously thick eyelashes. “Come on,” she told him. “I’ve got a table by the window.” Nat wasn’t a tall woman, but even in her heeled boots Tony was barely a couple inches taller than her. She put her arm around him, steering him towards her table and carefully keeping him out of sight of Ty and Justin as she did.
Tony winced as he pulled his chair without a loud screech, giving a nervous little laugh.. “Sorry,” he mumbled, casting a quick glance around to see if anyone had noticed.
Natasha just shrugged and grinned at him. “Happens to me all the time,” she assured him, lying through her teeth.
He gave her a dry look. “Somehow I doubt that,” he said, catching her eye with a wry grin. “You look like you’ve never been embarrassed a day in your life.”
Natasha straightened a little. He had spark; she liked that.
They made small talk for a few minutes, Tony getting himself a black coffee and sighing happily at his first sip. He made vague mentions of the project he was working on without giving any real details. The way he spoke suggested that Ty already knew what he did for a living, and so Tasha played along, smiling encouragingly when he went off on a tangent.
“Sorry,” he flushed when he realized he had been talking about robotics for ten minutes, chewing at his lip as he looked at her with soft eyes.
“It’s alright,” Natasha told him genuinely. “I mean, I only understood about half of what you said, but you obviously love it. Your entire face lit up. It’s a good look on you.”
Tony grinned wide, flushing again. “Thanks,” he mumbled, ducking his head toward the table. “And, um. Thanks for doing this.” He looked up at her again from under his eyelashes, scratching awkwardly at the back of his neck. “I don’t really do this a lot,” he admitted. “I was really, uh. I was glad, when Obie said you wanted to meet me. This is... I’ve been having a fun time.”
Natasha arched an eyebrow at him. “Come on,” she teased. “You’re gorgeous. I don’t believe you don’t have all the boys and girls lining up around the block to take you out.”
Tony rolled his eyes, fighting back the pleased smile creeping over his face. “Well. I‘m also a giant nerd with the unfortunate habit of talking about engineering and math for way too long.” He bit his lip as he gave her a grin. “Most kids go through the awkward dating stage at fourteen, but I guess I gotta do it now, since I was kind of busy studying at MIT then.”
“Fourteen?” Natasha repeated, incredulous, and realized her mistake when Tony frowned, like he’d expected her to know that. “Sorry,” she said quickly. “I just... didn’t realize it was quite that young.”
“Oh. Yeah.” Tony flushed again, dropping his gaze to the table and picking at his napkin for a moment. “That’s not a problem, is it?” he asked making eye contact for a brief moment before his gaze skittered over to the corner. “Sometimes it freaks people out,” he added in a mumble, and Natasha felt like punching something at the hurt in his voice.
“Not a problem at all,” she assured him, curling her hand over his on the table. Tony positively beamed, his entire face lighting up, and it was at that moment that Nat noticed Ty out of the corner of her eye, frowning at them speculatively. “Shit,” she muttered under her breath, watching as he leaned over and said something to Justin, who turned to face them too.
Tony’s smile flickered. “Is something wrong?”
“No, I just...” Natasha trailed off, weighing her options.
Ty was absolutely the type to make a scene, and if he embarrassed Tony in front of the entire cafe, she would definitely kick his ass. But ideally, she would get Tony out of here before it had the chance to get that far. Which left her with two options: She could give him a sweet brush off, let him think it was her — but she’d known Tony for less than an hour, and already knew he would blame himself for it — or she could confess.
Hoping she wasn’t making a mistake, she drew in a slow breath. “I need to tell you something.”
Mirroring her body language, Tony leaned in close over the table. “Okay,” he told her. “Is everything alright? Is there something I can help with?”
“No,” she admitted. “The thing is, you didn’t have my name wrong. I’m not actually your date.”
Tony’s eyebrows drew into a confused frown, head tilting to the side. “I don’t understand.”
Natasha made a face. “You were expecting to meet a dude, right? Named Ty?” At Tony’s slow nod, she tilted her chin to the far corner. “He’s over there — don’t look!” she added sharply.
“I don’t understand,” Tony repeated. “Is this like... Did he send you here to make sure I was legit or something? Because... I mean, he knows Obie. Ty is the one who asked to go out with me?”
“No, I know. Tony... Ty is a complete dillweed, and you can do so much better. I overheard him talking about you before you got here. He’s an asshole. He just wants to use you, and...” She watched as Tony sank back in his seat, eyes shuttering. “When you came in, I put it together that you were his date and so I intervened before he could see you,” she finished softly.
“Oh,” Tony said softly. He wasn’t looking at her at all now, focusing intently on the coffee menu over Nat’s shoulder. There was a red tinge to his cheeks, and Natasha saw his jaw working as he clenched his teeth before chewing on the skin around his thumb. “Okay,” he said, and she could hear the hitch in his voice. He offered a weak smile, still not looking at her. “I guess I should have known. Cute guy wanting to go out with me? Probably should have been suspicious when he hadn’t even met me yet.”
“Tony...”
He met her eyes for a minute, his own shimmering slightly. “Anyway, I should go,” he mumbled, moving to collect his wallet.
“No, you don’t have to,” Natasha told him quickly, curling her hand over his wrist again. “Or well, we should probably leave before he comes over, but... you don’t have to go. We can hang out somewhere else.”
Tony yanked his hand away from her. “Thanks for looking out for me, or whatever,  but I don’t need your pity date,” he told her, and it sounded harsh but she could still hear the hurt in his voice.
Natasha arched an eyebrow at him, leaning back and folding her arms across her chest. “Do I look like a woman who does pity?” she asked dryly, and Tony stopped at that because, well... No, she didn’t. “Yes, okay, I wanted to rescue you from the worst first date ever. But I wouldn’t have stayed if i didn’t genuinely enjoy talking to you, Tony. You’re hilarious, and brilliant, and adorable to boot. And believe me, if I wasn’t a fully committed lesbian, I’d probably be trying to lure you to my bed as I speak.”
Tony snorted despite himself at that. “Lesbian, huh?” he asked, finally meeting her eyes again.
“Yup,” Natasha drawled. “But don’t worry, it’s not you, it’s me.”
Tony rolled his eyes at that, a hint of a smile curling across his face.
“Look, it’s about time I head home anyway, before someone burns down the house. Why don’t you come home with me? You can meet all my friends... They’re gonna love you, I know it.”
“Home with you?” Tony repeated. He arched an eyebrow. “That sounds... unsavory. Thought you were supposed to be a lesbian.”
He was tempted though, Nat could see it, and she grinned. “I am. But don’t worry, if you wanna be unsavored, I’ve got a brother, and you’re just his type.”
Tony giggled at that, and Nat grinned back at him, easy and bright.
“Come on, Tony. I’m sorry about Ty, but he’s an absolute asshole, and you’re much better off without him. Come meet some real friends.”
He scrubbed at the back of his neck. “Yeah, alright,” he agreed, giving her a soft smile. “Why not? I’d like to meet your friends.”
Natasha’s smile grew. “Outstanding,” she declared. “Do you want to grab a coffee to - oh, for fuck’s sake.”
“What?” Tony asked. “What’s-?” He cut himself off as two men approached the table, and the look on Nat’s face made it pretty obvious who they were.
“Tony?” Ty demanded.
“Uh, yeah?”
Ty looked back and forth between Tony and Natasha, his eyes narrowing. “It’s me. Ty.”
Tony caught Natasha’s eye and then blinked up at Ty blankly. “Ty who?”
Ty looked like he was seething now. “Ty Stone.” He gave Natasha a dirty look. “Your date.”
Tony just gave him a bland smile. “Sorry, never heard of you,” he said, before turning back to Natasha.
“What do you mean, you’ve never heard of me? Our fathers worked together! Obadiah Stane set up this date.”
There was a heavy sigh from Tony, who didn’t bother looking back up at Ty. “Darling,” he said to Natasha, and oh boy he was laying it on thick but Ty didn’t seem to have noticed. “Shall we go?”
Natasha beamed back at him, taking the hand he held out to her and letting him help her to her feet. “Of course,” she agreed, moving around the table. “Excuse me,” she added, when Ty blocked her path.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Ty asked. “There’s clearly been some kind of misunderstanding”
“No misunderstanding,” Tony told him. “Obviously you’ve made some kind of mistake.” He made a show of looking Ty up and down. “But I’m definitely not here to see you,” he added, and Nat could have applauded.
Ty looked like he wasn’t giving up though, and so there was nothing else for Natasha to do except to pretend to trip against him and gracefully slam her fist into his stomach.
“Darling,” she said to Tony, letting him take her arm and lead her out the door while Ty was still trying to recover his breath.
They made it around the corner before Tony burst out laughing, almost doubling up with the force of it. “Okay, that was kind of fun,” he admitted, and Nat grinned back at him.
“What was that you were saying about having no social skills?” she teased. “You can bullshit with the best of them, so you’re already halfway there. And that means you’re going to fit in with us wonderfully. Now come on, before he decides to follow us.”
Tony hesitated a minute. “You don’t, I mean... this more than made up for the shitty first date I would have had. You don’t actually have to make all your friends meet me. I’m kind of a lot for most people.”
Natasha just rolled her eyes, grabbing his wrist in a surprisingly strong grip and pulling him down the street behind her. “You haven’t met ‘a lot’ until you’ve met these assholes,” she told him. “They’re going to love you, I promise. Besides,” she added over her shoulder. “I wasn’t kidding about my brother. James would never forgive me if I told him about you and didn’t bring you home for him to meet.”
Tony flushed pink at that, but didn’t argue further.
It started to rain when they were almost there, a sudden surprise downpour, and they ran the last block to Nat’s house. Tony was laughing, apparently not bothered, which was good because they weren’t fast enough to avoid getting completely soaked.
“Hey, assholes!” Natasha hollered loudly as they passed through the front door, making a face as she peeled off her drenched jacket. “I’m home! And I brought a friend!”
Tony grinned to himself at that, flushing a little when he caught Nat’s eye. “Um. I’m kind of dripping on your floor,” he pointed out, holding his leather jacket open to reveal his now-transparent white t-shirt. Natasha just shrugged.
“They’ve seen worse,” she promised him. “But we’ll find you something dry to wear. Hello? Anybody home?”
“Jesus Tasha,” as masculine voice answered. “You get lost on your way to the kitchen? What the hell are you screaming… for...”
Tony had been distracted by his t-shirt, pulling it away with his chest with a wet squelching sound, and looked up as the voice trailed off. He blinked at the man coming out of a room a few feet down the hall, all sharp blue eyes and broad chest and thighs. He was quite possibly the hottest person Tony had ever seen, and Tony gave him a tentative wave and a smile. “Hi,” he offered.
“Hey,” the newcomer replied, still staring at Tony before he promptly walked into a wall.
“Oh shit!” Tony cried, instinctively moving toward him while Natasha snorted with laughter. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah, yeah.” The stranger waved him off gruffly. “I’m fine.”
“Tony,” Natasha interrupted, giggling from the stairs. “This is my brother, James.”
“Oh,” Tony said, and then clued in to what she had said and his eyes widened. “Oh!” He rubbed at the back of his neck, shy and adorable. “Um, hi James. I’m Tony.”
He offered his hand out tentatively, and James took it with a quirk to his lips, and a grip that made Tony a little weak in the knees.
“Bucky,” he told him. “Everyone calls me Bucky, it’s just Tasha who refuses to.”
“Because it’s a stupid nickname,” Natasha replied easily. It sounded like an argument they’d had a million times over, and Tony grinned as he listened to their easy banter, missing Rhodey like crazy for a minute.
Before he could get too bummed out, there were footsteps clomping down the stairs, and a blond man with ridiculously large arms (seriously, Tony was going to start getting a complex if he stayed here too long) slid past Natasha. He arched an eyebrow at Tony.
“Oh hey!” he said, his voice just a little too loud. “Another puppy!”
Without waiting for a response, he headed down the hall to the kitchen while Tony blinked at him. “I”m not a puppy,” he protested, getting a laugh from Bucky. The newcomer ignored him, and Tony frowned a little, because that seemed unnecessarily rude.
“Ignore him,” Bucky told him warmly. “He’s deaf. He’s…” He grabbed a tennis ball off the side table and launched it down the hall, hitting Blondie square in the back.
“Ow!” he hollered, turning to stare at them. "What the fuck?”
“Hey asshole!” Bucky retorted, enunciating a little more clearly so he could read his lips. “Where are your hearing aids?”
Blondie made a face. “They broke again. Cheap Hammertech.”
Tony looked horrified. “HammerTech? No wonder they're broken.” Bucky snorted at that, and Tony gave him a quick smile before following his lead and turning back to the other man so he could read his lips. “Let me see them? I bet I can make them better.”
“What?” He looked at Tony like he was nuts. “I’m not giving you my aids to play with, no way. You’ll break them, and they’re my only pair.”
He moved off down the hall toward the kitchen, leaving Tony spluttering after him. “I wouldn’t break them!” he protested. “And they’re already broken!!”
“Ignore him,” a new voice said, repeating Bucky’s instructions. “Clint’s just pissed I beat him at MarioKart.”
Tony turned to face the newcomer who smiled at him warmly, and actually moved to shake Tony’s hand. “I’m Sam, nice to meet you.”
“Tony,” he answered, beaming wide. Sam grinned back, and then looked over at Natasha.
“New puppy, huh?” he asked.
Tony stared at him and, although he probably wasn’t aware of it, actually pouted, folding his arms across his chest. “I’m not a puppy!” He glared at Natasha. “I thought you said your friends were nice.”
“I said they’d like you, not that they were nice,” Natasha offered with a smirk.
“Don’t take it personal,” Sam assured him, patting him on the shoulder.
“Tasha’s always bringing home strays,” Clint added from the kitchen doorway, his hearing aids apparently working again. “Starting with Bucky and including all of us.” He frowned then, poking at his left ear. “Aww, hearing aids,” he whined, pulling them out again.
“Okay, seriously.” Tony set off down the hall after him, apparently over his shyness in the face of potential engineering. “Give them to me. I can fix them, I promise.”
Natasha, Bucky, and Sam all watched him go. “Where’d you find him?” Sam asked when they’d disappeared, grinning as they heard the echoes of Tony trying to convince Clint to let him fix his hearing aids.
“At the coffee shop,” Natasha offered primly. “What?” she added, at the look Sam and Bucky shared. “I can’t make friends?” She rolled her eyes at them. “He was heading into the worst date ever, so I rescued him. Don’t look at me like that.”
They all looked down the hall as they heard Tony’s voice raise again, Clint’s following suit, and Bucky grinned. “I like him,” he declared, before narrowing his eyes at the smirk on Natasha’s face.
“Yeah,” she said dryly. “Thought you might.” She and Sam waggled their eyebrows at him ridiculously, and Bucky huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.
“And I hate you. Both of you,” he informed them, stomping off down the hall.
Sam snorted as he watched him go, glancing over at Nat. “You are a menace.”
“I do my best,” she told him with a wink, dashing up the stairs to change into some dry clothes. When she returned to the kitchen, it was to find that Tony had, in fact talked Clint into letting him tinker with the hearing aids in question. He was sitting at their rickety kitchen table poking at them with a screwdriver that he'd apparently pulled from his pocket. Tony was completely focused on the machinery in his hands, tongue poking out between his teeth as he concentrated while Clint sat across from him, staring with a critical eye. Sam was watching the whole scene with amusement, and Bucky had pulled some bread from the fridge and was making toast, pretending not to be sneaking little glances at Tony every three seconds.
“Hey, Tony,” she said, snapping him out of his stupor. “You must be frozen, huh?”
“Oh.” Tony glanced down at his arms and blinked, apparently just now noticing the goosebumps on his arms. “Uh, yeah. I guess.”
Natasha beamed and moved over to Bucky, bumping her hip against his and raising her eyebrows. “Hey James, why don’t you lend Tony some clothes, hmm? Then we can pop his clothes in the dryer. Don’t want him catching cold.”
Bucky’s eyes widened and he glanced over at Tony, since Natasha wasn’t even trying to be subtle, but the other man had already delved back into working on the hearing aids. “I hate you,” he muttered, abandoning his toast and stomping off to get Tony some clothes. Natasha caught Sam’s eye over the table and shared a grin with him.
He returned just as Tony was sliding the hearing aids back across the table to Clint, looking all pleased and fidgeting in expectation. “Go on. Try them!”
Still looking suspicious, Clint positioned them in his ears. “Okay, what’s the big--” He cut himself off at the sound of his own voice. “Holy shit. What the…” He pointed wildly at Sam, across the room. “Say something!”
Sam raised his hands helplessly. “What do you want me to say?”
“Holy shit!” Clint said again. He stared at Tony incredulously. “How did you… These aren’t just fixed, they’re like ten times better than they were.”
Tony beamed, looking absolutely delighted. “It’s just kind of… What I do.” Then he yelped as Clint hauled him out of his seat, physically lifting him off the ground and wrapping him in a back-cracking bear hug.
“Thank you,” he told him sincerely, and Tony flushed as he planted a kiss square on his cheek. Then he was depositing him on the ground and heading off down the hall.
“Hey,” Bucky yelped as Clint practically shoved him into the shower in his haste. “Where the hell are you going?”
“Outside!” Clint hollered back over his shoulder. “Gonna go listen to some birds!”
Bucky shook his head. “Weirdo,” he muttered affectionately, catching Tony’s eye and getting a grin out of him.
“Cute and useful,” Sam teased, “We should keep him, huh Buck? Wanna do our microwave next? Hasn’t been the same since Bucky and Clint got drunk and tried to make s’mores in it.”
“Jesus,” Bucky muttered, scrubbing a hand over his face. “Okay, I don’t think Tony is here to fix our shit.”
“Aww,” Natasha teased, voice dry. “Look at you, coming to his rescue.”
“I don’t mind,” Tony added, looking back and forth between them with eyes that were just a little too sharp. “Seriously, I love this shit. And it’s a microwave, it’s not like it’s hard.”
Bucky stared at him, a little awed; he’d always been a sucker for intelligent men. “Still,” he muttered. Shifting when he realized he was still staring, Bucky held out the t-shirt and sweatpants he’d wrangled. “Here,” he offered. “If you wanna change.”
Tony’s lips twitched, as he took the clothes in question, giving Bucky a quick once over. “I don’t know how well they’re going to fit, but thanks.”
When Tony had disappeared down the hall to the bathroom to change, Bucky whirled on Nat and Sam. “Stop,” he hissed, cautious of his voice carrying. “You two are about as subtle as a freight train. You’re gonna freak him out.”
Nat and Sam shared another look, and gave him identical grins, which was just creepy.
“No idea what you’re talking about,” Natasha told him sweetly, sliding past him to the sink. “Coffee, anyone?”
“I mean it, Tasha! Stop trying to meddle in my love life.”
“Oh ho ho.” This was Sam, arms folded across his chest as he waggled his eyebrows at Bucky. “So you admit there is some romance happening here.”
“I didn’t say that!” Bucky insisted. “Also, stop doing that with your eyebrows, you look fucking stupid.” Sam didn’t stop, and Bucky groaned, slumping down in a chair at the table. “I’m moving out.”
“Why would you want to move out?” Tony asked suddenly from behind him. “This place is awesome.”
Bucky turned around to say… something, but his brain shorted out at the sight of Tony in his clothes. They were a little loose on him but fit better than expected, and he looked adorable as shit, especially with one wayward curl ignoring all his attempts to brush it out of his eye.
“Ignore him,” Sam told him, smirking at Bucky knowingly. “He threatens to move out every other day, and yet we’re still stuck with him, so I wouldn’t take him seriously.” He kicked out the chair opposite to Bucky. “Now come sit down, have some coffee, tell us about yourself. What’s your favourite colour, favourite food… favourite movie?”
Tony looked amused as he settled into the offered seat, grinning wide when Natasha slid a fresh mug of coffee across the table to him. “Uhh. Red, cheeseburgers, and.. Right now, probably Repo Man?”
“No shit,” Sam drawled, sharing another look with Nat when Tony closed his eyes in delight at the first sip of his coffee. “That’s Buck’s favourite movie too. Won’t shut up about it. Watches it every week.”
“I…” Bucky sent him a murderous glare. “I don’t watch it every week,” he protested in a mutter. “It’s just…”
“Ridiculous, right?” Tony offered, “But also like you can’t look away from it?”
Bucky grinned at him. “You know, Fox Harris couldn’t drive a car, and the first day of filming he drove into a bridge?”
Tony’s eyes lit up at this factoid, and then they were sharing weird facts about the movie, and then sci fi movies in general. Neither of them noticed Sam and Nat slipping out of the room, Sam setting some strategic lighting on his way out. The longer they talked the more Tony seemed to loosen up, alternating between leaning back in his chair and then shifting forward again, unconsciously moving into Bucky’s space. He was a mouthy little shit too, once he got going, dry and sarcastic, and pointing triumphantly to accentuate his point. His whole face lit up when he got started on something, and Bucky kind of couldn’t stop staring at him.
Their coffee was almost gone before Bucky looked up, frowning when he took in the empty kitchen. “Where did Sam and Nat go?”
Tony blinked, following his gaze, and then they met each other’s eyes, coming to a realization at the same time.
“Is this…” Tony ducked his head a little, momentarily slipping back into shyness and giving Bucky a soft little smile. Bucky’s heart skipped a beat. “Did they set us up on a coffee date?”
Bucky glanced down at the almost empty mug. “Guess so,” he admitted. “I’m gonna kill them,” he added without any real heat, grinning ruefully.
Tony shrugged. “I don’t know,” he told. He drew in a deep breath, cheeks flushing a little. “As first dates go, it wasn’t so bad. Beat my last one, definitely.”
“Yeah?” Bucky caught his eye, watched the way Tony swallowed at the heated look he was giving him. Bucky couldn’t stop himself from leaning, curling his hands around Tony’s neck. Tony blinked up at him, eyes wide, and Bucky closed the distance between them, kissing him gently.
For all his shyness, Tony was a good kisser and though it stayed relatively chaste, there was a soft brush of Tony’s tongue against his lips that sent little shivers of heat up Bucky’s spine. He pulled back, stroking his thumb over the thrum of Tony’s pulse in his neck, and Tony grinned back at him, open and wide and happy.
“Then how would you feel about getting out of here and having a real date, where those assholes can’t spy on us?”
Tony laughed at that, eyes sparking in delight. “Can we make out a little more?”
“Absolutely. Whatever you want, sweetheart.”
“Then what the hell are we waiting for?”
Natasha x reader x Tony
The first part of the Date Night series is here!!
Masterlist     Sleep Series Masterlist     Halloween/Supernatural Masterlist
Time was never a problem between the three of you. When the three of you entered your relationship, many people warned you, you would never find time for each other. Especially given your line of work. But the three of you had proved everyone wrong. You were all alive and even if aliens were invading the planet you made sure to have a date night every week.
It didn’t matter what was happening or where you were in the world the three of you had date night on Friday and that was what happened. Everyone, including the team, knew not to disturb you three on date night in fear of Natasha or Tony or what you would do, but also because most of the time you weren’t even in the country.
It was finally the night. The three of you had been seeing each other for months, but you still hadn’t gone on a proper date. The three of you had gone on a few one-on-one dates, but you hadn’t gone on a date with all three of you yet.
That wasn’t to say you hadn’t tried to, you had, but the three of you lived busy lives and it seemed every time you planned for the three of you to go out something came up. From matters with Stark Industries, to missions, meetings and other obligations that came with being the three of you.
The three of you had decided no more. No more interruptions, no more failed dates, no more. You’d warned anyone who attempted to interrupt, or ruin tonight would be met with swift retaliation. Not one person needed the three of you to finish the threat, they all knew it would be wise to heed this warning.
That night Natasha and you got ready together and at seven you both climbed into the elevator and went up to Tony’s floor.
“You look gorgeous, Y/N.” Natasha complimented, pulling you into her arms.
“Not as gorgeous as you.” You argued, smiling up at the woman.  Natasha leaned down and kissed you deeply. The two of kissed deeply, not even acknowledging the ding of the elevator arriving.
“Well, this is a pleasant sight.” Tony whistled. You and Natasha broke away to look at the smirking man who was holding two glasses of red wine. “And I thought welcoming you with the good wine was going to make the night.”
“It’s not going to ruin it.” Natasha said, grabbing you by the hand and leading you out of the elevator. She took a glass from Tony and kissed him just as deeply as she had you.
“Glad to know.” He said, once they broke apart. Tony grabbed you by the other hand and pulled you into his chest. Leaning down he repeated Natasha’s actions, when the two of you pulled apart, he handed you the other glass.
“You both look stunning.” He complimented, leading you both over to the couch.
“You don’t look too bad yourself, Tony.” You replied, watching Tony start to light some candles.
“Oh, I know.” He said smugly with a smirk. “Make yourselves comfortable, I’ve got dinner handled.”
“Dinner?” You asked, raising an eyebrow at the man. “Did Mr. Stark actually make dinner, all by himself? Natasha, I believe we should feel honored.” You jested, getting a chuckle out of the red head.
“Laugh it up you two.” Tony said, shaking his head. “But you won’t be laughing when you actually taste, what I’ve made for the two of you.” He added, setting plates on the table in front of you.
“We’ll wait for the food before we make any judgements, Stark.” Natasha said, taking a sip of her wine. It turns out Tony was a good cook. He was a fantastic cook.
“Holy shit, Tony.” You moaned. “This is fantastic.”
“Next time you make a sound like that it won’t be because of food.” Natasha quipped, sharing a smirk with Tony.
“We’re eating, Tash.” You complained, mock glaring at the woman.
“We’re talking about a kind of eating.” Tony shrugged, making Natasha laugh and you roll your eyes.
“You two are gross.” You sighed, taking another bite of the meal Tony made.
“You love us.” Natasha said, leaning over to kiss your cheek.
“Jury’s still out on that.” You smirked, Tony reached over and pinched you on the ribs causing you to yelp and shuffle closer to Natasha. The three of you continued to eat your lovely dinner, flirting up a storm, until the food was gone, and the candles began to dim.
“The night is still young.” Natasha commented as the three of you were tangled on the couch. “We could stick around for a while.” She added suggestively.
“Romanoff, I like the way you think.” Tony said, standing from the couch. Tony helped you both off the couch and led you both into the bedroom. Your first date night turned into date morning.
“Tony, I don’t like this.” Natasha sighed from somewhere next to you. Tony had picked what you would be doing for date night tonight and he had decided to keep it a surprise by blindfolding the two of you. Only the feel of Natasha’s hand in yours and Tony’s hand on one of your shoulders kept you from panicking.
“Yeah, Tony, I’m with Nat on this one. It’s creepy.” You added, looking over your shoulder, presumably, at your boyfriend.
“I promise you both, you’re going to love this.” Said boyfriend assured. He continued walking the two f you both forward until he suddenly stopped. “Okay, don’t take your blindfolds off yet. I’ve got to make a few finishing touches.”
“Tony, if we take these off and there’s some 50 shades of grey shit in front of us, the only one who will be touching your dick is you.” Natasha warned, squeezing your hand.
“I know, I know.” Tony said, from somewhere in front of you. “You’ve said it before and believe it or not I do listen.” He added, voice coming closer. “Alright let’s get these off you two.”
He pulled the blindfolds off you both and stepped to the side. The three of you were in the Tower’s gun range where Tony had set up the guns as well as a table set with wine and cakes.
“We get to play with weapons on date night.” Natasha said excitedly, jumping slightly. “I knew there was a reason we let you plan these things, Tony.” She said, kissing him before running over to the set-up guns.
“Also, because you bring the good wine.” You added, wrapping your arm around his waist. “Thank you, babe.” You said, kissing him.
“You’re welcome Y/N.” He said as you both pulled apart. “Let’s sit down while Natasha plays with her toys.”
“Not toys, deadly weapons.” She corrected, not looking up from the guns. You and Tony smiled at the happy red-head and sat down at the small table. The date was fun, Natasha played with guns and helped the two of you with your aim, and you and Tony enjoyed some tasty pastries and red wine.
“Okay, both of you sit.” Tony said, grabbing a tray from the side as Natasha was fixing your stance. “It’s time for dessert.”
“Are you talking about dessert, or dessert?” Natasha asked, sipping from a glass of wine. “Because with you it could mean either.”
“Normal dessert.” Tony said, placing the tray on the table and raising his hands in innocence. “For now.” He added with a wink.
“Ooh, Tony, this looks amazing.” You complimented, licking your lips at the sight of the cake in front of you. It was a beautiful, blue, frosted square cake. “Have you been playing chef again?”
“Normally I would claim credit for this, but I had some help with this one.” Tony said. “It’s really special actually, it opens like a box. Look.” He added, lifting the top of the cake and putting it to the side.
“Holy shit.” Natasha gasped as the lid came off. You covered your mouth in shock at the same time and grabbed Natasha’s hand in your other. Inside the cake box were two rings.
“N/N, Tasha, I could give you both a really long speech, but to hell with it. It’s been two years and I love the both of you. I don’t want to lose you so, let’s get married.” Tony said, kneeling in front of you both. “What’d you say?”
“Fuck yes!” You exclaimed, jumping up from the chair.
“Of course!” Natasha cheered, coming to a stand not even a second after you.
“Thank fuck.” Tony sighed in relief, standing and pulling the two of you into an embrace. “I was slightly nervous you’d say no, but then I remembered I was asking and you two love me for some reason.”
“That is correct.” You said, kissing the underside of his jaw.
“Y/N was right. It’s the wine.” Natasha joked, kissing first him and then you.
“Well if you two are only with me for the wine, then I promise to always have the good wine on ice.” Tony promised with a smirk.
“Put that in your vows.” Natasha said, nodding at him. “But for now, I believe that we should head upstairs and celebrate this” She suggested, getting grins from the two of you.
“We’ll definitely celebrate but first I believe I have to do something first.” Tony said, pulling out of the hug and grabbing the rings. He set them on both yours and Natasha’s fingers and kissed the both of you.
“What are we waiting for?” You asked, grabbing both your lover’s hands. “Let’s go celebrate.”
The three of you had been married for six months and they had been a wonderful six months. The three of you were still busy as always, Tony’s company was working on things to fix the world, the three f you were trying to save the world and keep your relationship strong.
After a long week of saving the world it was finally date night.
“Mr. Stark, I believe we asked you to keep your eyes closed.” Natasha said, narrowing her eyes as she saw him peeking through his.
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Stark, but surprises make me nervous.” He said, closing his eyes tightly, the last time someone surprised me I was in Vegas and covered in glitter.”
“You’re the one who let Rhodey plan your bachelor party.” You reminded the man, placing glasses on the table. “You wanted to be surprised and he did surprise you.”
“But glitter?” Tony whined, shaking his head. “That is the one substance we should be saving the world from.”
“You’re not wrong there.” Natasha snorted, taking some bowls out of your hands and putting them on the table. “Glitter is hell.”
“You two are so dramatic sometimes.” You said, rolling your eyes at the two. “And Tash, when have you ever been around glitter?”
“Lila made a card for our wedding remember.” She said. “I opened the thing and had a lap full of glitter.” She explained, wrinkling her nose slightly.
“To be fair, it was a pretty card.” You told her, smiling as her nose crinkled more.
“Are you both almost done yet?” Tony asked, shifting from one foot to another. “Because now I’m worried you’ve got glitter.”
“We’re done you baby.” Natasha said, grabbing you by the waist and holding you at her side. Tony slowly opened his eyes and smiled at the sight before him. You and Natasha were dolled up in black dresses and behind you were bowls of chips, glasses of beer and a table set with cards and poker chips.
“We figured we could have a poker night.” Natasha explained, smirking at Tony’s shocked face. “Regular poker, some blackjack and maybe even some strip poker.”
“I love you two.” Tony said, moving over to the two of you. “Have I ever said that?”
“Once or twice.” Natasha shrugged, smirking at the man. He pulled the two of you into his arms and kissed you both softly.
“I love you.” He said pulling back and smiling at the two of you. “Both of you.”
“Love you too, Tony.” You both chorused. The two of you shifted your hold on Tony and wrapped your arms around one of his.
“Now let’s play some poker, you two.” Natasha said, pulling Tony towards a seat.
“Now which version do you want to start with?” You asked, beginning to deal the cards. “Normal, Texas hold ‘em, blackjack or….”
“Strip.” Tony cut in with a smirk. “Let’s start with strip poker.”
“How did I know you would pick that?” Natasha asked, rolling her eyes fondly. “Alright, I’m dealing because I don’t trust Tony not to cheat and no offence Y/N, but you suck honey.”
“I’m going to win this, Nat. Just you watch.” You said, narrowing your eyes at the smirking red head. Natasha and Tony only chuckled at you as Nat dealt the cards.
“How am I losing?” You moaned, after losing yet another round. Natasha was winning with Tony attempting to make it a close call, but you were losing and by a lot.
“Like Nat said, you suck at cards babe.” Tony said, smirking at you. “There’s no way you’re going to win Y/N.” He added.
“Okay then.” You started, looking between the two. “If I win this hand, then that’s it, game over. You two strip and we have some fun.” You continued, wiggling your eyebrows suggestively.
“And if you lose?” Natasha asked.
“We all strip and have some fun.” You stated, shrugging. “Either way it’s a win-win.”
“I can live with that.” Tony said, turning to you. “Show us your cards babe.” To the two’s surprise, you won the round.
“Now for my prize. Lose the garments, darlings.” You smirked and not to your surprise neither your husband nor wife looked mad at losing the game.
The three of you always found time for date night and you remembered most of them, but you all remembered the big dates. The important ones.
Sunday’s have ended up being my “catch up on reading” days so I finally had time to finish Phoenix House and god it was so good! You know how much I’m a sucker for the “not broken just hurt” trope you’ve created and every time you add it to a story I fall in love with it even more. I especially love the emphasis in this story about how you can be someone’s mate/significant other and not be able to be their /everything/. Sometimes healing takes a village and it’s okay if you aren’t exactly what your person needs in that moment. Just being able to acknowledge that you can’t help them the way they need and helping them find someone who can shows just how much you love and care for that person.
I loved Bucky and Tony’s dynamic in this story. They’re just so soft and sweet and they want each other so badly even though they’re not supposed to. I’m so glad it didn’t take them long to talk out their issues because the angst™ chapter just about killed me with Bucky feeling rejected by his omega and Tony in near constant tears because of how he was hurting his alpha by keeping himself distant and muted. I also always adore when Tony thinks people won’t love him as much/anymore when they find out he’s a Stark as if finding out he’s a billionaire that has dedicated his life to using his wealth to make the world a better place would make him somehow less desirable.
Sam and Bucky’s friendship is all that I need in my life and I thank god every day for FATWS being created because there’s so much great content out there now for these two and I can’t get enough of it.
“Why Doctor Banner. Are you about to tell me you believe in polyamory?” Welp...looks like I have to go read the BW verse for the 900000th time now.
Also STEVE!!! Somehow I’m NEVER ready for the stuckony twist. Never! Even though it’s happening more often than not and it’s literally my favorite MCU ship. I’m never ready and I freak out every time and not to be dramatic but I need to see Sam/Tasha/Pep/Rhodey react to seeing both Tony AND Bucky practically imprint on this new patient. Like here we fucking go again 🤦🏻‍♀️ I loved loved loved this verse and now I’m off to start some shifter!SP
"Not broken, just hurt" is quite possibly the best line/theme I've ever written in my life and it originated in the aptly named "Broken" from a Bucky-centric moment. "Not broken, just hurt."
I had no idea when I wrote that line that it would resonate with so many people, and then even with ME as different things happened over the last four years.
Lmaooo the Angst Chapter. My readers were so stressed out about it and I wanted to be like "it's a 25k fic guys, the angst can't stretch out very far there's literally not enough space" haha. It's not like the Pirate's Heart Great Angst that spanned almost ten chapters before getting to be even SLIGHTLY better!
