Hello. Could Jaehaerys I have married Aerea to unite both of their claims? Would marrying her for that reason would bring attention to the idea that he technically usurped her or could it be like a Henry VII and Elizabeth of York situation?
On purely practical terms, even. if he had wanted to marry Aerea right away, Jaehaerys I would have been waiting some time before he could actually have undertaken this marriage (certainly if he expected to have children with her). Aerea was only six when Maegor died and Jaehaerys was acclaimed king, at least the better part of a decade away even by the (horrible, gross, and utterly disturbing) standards of Westeros from anything more than a ceremonial marriage. That intervening decade or so would have given plenty of time for anyone disgruntled with Jaehaerys or his government to declare the marriage void for non-consummation and either wed Aerea elsewhere and/or proclaim her queen in her turn. (And indeed, after the failed Rogar plot, I think Jaehaerys may have decided that it was wisest not to let Aerea marry at all, even if he himself were by then already clearly off the table.)
More to the point, though, I don't think Jaehaerys would have had any motivation to undertake such a marriage. IOTL Jaehaerys neatly sidestepped the question of the rights of Prince Aegon, seemingly acknowledging Maegor's rulership (at least to some extent) while accepting the acclamation of those lords who gathered at Storm's End to recognize him, Jaehaerys, as king. Indeed, it was Aerea's own mother, with her daughter in tow, who had come to Jaehaerys to acclaim him king in her turn - about as public a sign as anyone could ask (or so it appeared in that moment) that the Targaryen dynasty was not seriously looking to Aerea as the rightful heiress of the Iron Throne, or even someone with a particularly strong and actively championed claim. Far from Aerea representing the necessary allegiance Jaehaerys required to secure his own crown, Jaehaerys had what appeared to be proof positive that Aerea (or, more specifically, her mother) was not going to challenge him for kingship. Nor should it be ignored that Jaehaerys made very clear throughout his reign that he saw the Iron Throne as a male-only institution; if Aerea was "his own acknowledged successor, heir apparent to the Iron Throne" during his early (and childless) years as king, Jaehaerys may have seen her as heir only by a lack of other males within House Targaryen (a lack he himself would remedy with his own queen following their marriage).
Too, Jaehaerys IOTL very quickly demonstrated, after becoming king, that he would not be swayed by any political argument in the question of his own marriage. While his regents and council debated the best choice of bride for the young king based on potential diplomatic or politico-religious advantages, Jaehaerys himself made a secret fait accompli marriage with his sister Alysanne, seemingly based on no more and no less than Jaehaerys' own love for her. Given this mindset on Jaehaerys' part, I very much doubt that he would have been inclined to look to a marriage with the six-year-old niece he likely scarcely knew purely to seize a political advantage that may not have even been apparent.

The more I think there are less chances of Dany falling for Euron. Sure we can tell he is her type but I don't think she will be crushing on him like she did with Daario. According to Dany, Daario is somehow devoted to her. She swooned over his romantic gestures for her even if they are problematic. Plus there is the fact she didn't let him overpower her. I am not against Euron×Dany alliance it will happen but I don't understand how he will charmed her like Daario.
But, but, but "Euronerys" makes me laugh each time I type it. Don't steal my joy, anon! 😂
I don’t have any strong feelings about where their story is going. I don't think it needs to be romantic or sexual, but knowing Euron wants a dragon, that he may have the means to control a dragon, we have to ask, what will Dany infer from that?
Dany believes she is looking for dragon riders, men, and that they will be trustworthy.
The dragon has three heads. There are two men in the world who I can trust, if I can find them. I will not be alone then. We will be three against the world, like Aegon and his sisters. (ASOS, Daenerys VI)
If Euron is able to control/ride a dragon, we have to think about what that will mean to Dany.
I wasn’t active in the fandom at the time, but apparently fans were upset that she was so infatuated with Daario when ADWD was released, and I assume that’s because they understand that Martin is saying something about her by writing that, and they don’t like it. People are interpreting that as a stepping stone to worse things. I’ve commented before that the two men (Daario the lover and Hizdahr her husband) are representative of Dany’s two natures so the idea is less “Daario is controlling Dany” and more “Dany’s interest in Daario is a sign of her taste for violence/downward spiral” so to me, it wouldn’t be that weird if Martin intends to write her descent into her own worst impulses by getting involved with Euron.
He sounds like a monster to me, but he wants her
"Aye, Captain," said Wulfe One-Ear. He was not half the man that Nute the Barber was, but the Crow's Eye had stolen Nute. By raising him to Lord of Oakenshield, his brother made Victarion's best man his own. "Is it still to be Meereen?"
"Where else? The dragon queen awaits me in Meereen." The fairest woman in the world if my brother could be believed. Her hair is silver-gold, her eyes are amethysts.
Was it too much to hope that for once Euron had told it true? Perhaps. Like as not, the girl would prove to be some pock-faced slattern with teats slapping against her knees, her "dragons" no more than tattooed lizards from the swamps of Sothoryos. If she is all that Euron claims, though … They had heard talk of the beauty of Daenerys Targaryen from the lips of pirates in the Stepstones and fat merchants in Old Volantis. It might be true. And Euron had not made Victarion a gift of her; the Crow's Eye meant to take her for himself. He sends me like a serving man to fetch her. How he will howl when I claim her for myself. Let the men mutter. They had sailed too far and lost too much for Victarion to turn west without his prize. (ADWD, The Iron Suitor)
and I guess I don’t know if she’ll see through this whole thing and even if she did, what it would mean. As in, she knows Daario doesn’t love her for her, only loves her as the dragon queen, but that doesn’t change her feelings. But he can’t touch her dragons, so it isn’t quite the same thing. I know there was spec about her possibly fighting Euron if he successfully gets a dragon. I’d prefer that simply because I am weirded out by how Martin writes her involvement with grown men.
My understanding is that what gives rise to that expectation that it will be sexual is Dany's dream, and it all comes down to how you interpret that:
dreaming that Hizdahr was kissing her … but his lips were blue and bruised, and when he thrust himself inside her, his manhood was cold as ice. (ADWD, Daenerys VII)
I think it may be one of those things that’s true in many ways. She may have an alliance with Euron before she fights with him, istumpysk has pointed out that this could be about Tyrion, who may very well betray her later, so maybe it’s indicative of how she is misused by certain men rather than telling us the nature of any specific relationship. As far as I’m concerned, the contenders are Euron, Tyrion, Jon, and the dream is violent based on the choice of the word “thrust” which Martin usually uses in conjunction with sword or spear. He’s also used it when talking about sex elsewhere though, so we can’t entirely rule that out though.
Whether sex is involved or not, I do expect Dany to be betrayed and  assassinated as my boys were, and looking at some of those quotes, we see some buzzwords from her dream so maybe that’s what it’s about, not so much Euron?
Tumblr media
and
A man in dark armor and a pale pink cloak spotted with blood stepped up to Robb. "Jaime Lannister sends his regards." He thrust his longsword through her son's heart, and twisted. (ASOS, Catelyn VII)
and
"It is not the foes who curse you to your face that you must fear, but those who smile when you are looking and sharpen their knives when you turn your back. You would do well to keep your wolf close beside you. Ice, I see, and daggers in the dark. Blood frozen red and hard, and naked steel. It was very cold."  (ADWD, Jon I)
and
Jon fell to his knees. He found the dagger's hilt and wrenched it free. In the cold night air the wound was smoking. "Ghost," he whispered. Pain washed over him. Stick them with the pointy end. When the third dagger took him between the shoulder blades, he gave a grunt and fell face-first into the snow. He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold … (ADWD, Jon XIII)
There isn’t much hope for Dany, but I think there’s room to hope that the Euronerys relationship isn’t what you’re dreading. Here’s to a mutually destructive alliance, nothing more!

The Song of Rhaegar Targaryen: Part I: The Beginning of the Ballad
Word Count: 1,985
Author's Notes: Hi, hello, there was a surprising amount of demand for this when I mentioned it, so here's the rework I created of Game of Thrones season 1-8 in an Alternate Universe where Rhaegar Targaryen was not killed off. I wrote this shortly after the end of Season 8 which quite frankly made me want to rip my hair out. This goes season by season; each chapter is a season, with the first chapter being Pre-Show/Book canon.
This is in no way affiliated with GRRM; I just used to roleplay Rhaegar and wanted a verse where he lived. Thank you, and I hope you all enjoy.
Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI, Part VII, Part VIII, Part IX Tag list: @heartsvamps , @nixnbob , @papery-maniac ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Prince Rhaegar was the firstborn son of King Aerys II Targaryen (more popularly known as The Mad King) and Queen Rhaella- Aerys’ sister- at Summerhall in 259 AC, on the very same day that The Tragedy took place. Before we begin to talk of Rhaegar, we must first talk of the Tragedy, for it is intricately tied within his story.
The Tragedy of Summerhall occurred during a celebration, thrown by King Aegon to celebrate the impending birth of his first great-grandchild to Aerys and Rhaella, the children of his heir, Prince Jaehaerys. The fire of the fire remains unknown, but has been whispered to have been connected to King Aegon’s desire to restore dragons to the Seven Kingdoms, for in the final years of his reign, he’d become consumed by searching for ancient lore of the dragons and the dragon breeding of Valyria. It has been said that Aegon commissioned journeys to Asshai, with the sole hope of finding texts and knowledge that had not been preserved in Westeros of the old ways of Valyria.
The Tragedy struck in the evening; many deaths occurred, and by some miracle, Rhaella and Rhaegar survived the fire, despite it ruining the castle. According to Ser Barristan Selmy, some form of sorcery was involved. A single letter from Summerhall’s former maester, Corso, had been sent, describing the tragedy, though a mishap led to ink spilling, causing much of the information to be destroyed forever.
“The blood of the dragon gathered in one … … seven eggs, to honor the seven gods, though the king's own septon had warned … … pyromancers … … wyldfire … … flames grew out of control … towering … burned so hot that … … died, but for the valor of the Lord Comman …”
Now, we may speak of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, first of his name.
As a child he read obsessively, consuming any and all books that he could find- to the point that jests were made about his reading habits. He became a noted warrior later in life, although he did not initially seem inclined to martial habits. However, apparently by something he had read, Rhaegar became motivated to become a warrior. It has been noted that he had managed to find something that pertained to the story of Azor Ahai- the Prince that was Promised.
At the age of seventeen, Prince Rhaegar was knighted, and from all reports grew into a highly skilled and capable fighter, distinguishing himself well at tournaments, although he seldom entered the lists - he never loved the song of swords the way that men like Robert Baratheon or Jaime Lannister did.
Rhaegar's squires were Myles Mooton and Richard Lonmouth, and even after he knighted them they remained close companions.
Jon Connington, whom he himself had squired with growing up, was a good friend to Rhaegar as well. Returning from a trip to Dorne, Rhaegar once visited the Connington seat of Griffin's Roost. His songs brought the castle's women to tears, while Lord Armond Connington sought House Targaryen's support against rival House Morrigen. Jon Connington did hold romantic feelings towards Rhaegar, though it is unclear if these feelings were returned. However, Rhaegar's closest and oldest friend was Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning, of whom he trusted more than Ser Barristan Selmy.
Rhaegar often liked to visit the ruins of Summerhall with only his harp, and upon his return, he would sing songs of such beauty they would often reduce women to tears. Although Rhaegar was often dour, private, and bookish, Cersei Lannister noted at the tournament in honor of Viserys's birth in Lannisport in 276 AC that “the smallfolk cheered for Lord Tywin Lannister twice as much as for King Aerys II, but only half as loudly for Tywin as for Rhaegar.” Rhaegar, age 17 at the time, fought well in the tourney, besting a dozen skilled knights, among them Barristan Selmy, Gerion, and Tygett Lannister, but was defeated in the champion's tilt by his dear friend Arthur Dayne. Aerys refused Tywin's offer at the tourney to betroth Cersei to Rhaegar. It is to be noted that Rhaegar defeated Arthur in the tourney at Storm's End.
Rhaegar was born at a time when the Targaryen family had declined, and once he came of age, there was no sister, nor anyone else of their bloodline, available for him to marry. King Aerys sent his first cousin, Lord Steffon Baratheon, to seek a bride for Rhaegar. Despite Valyrian blood still being present in Essos, Steffon could not find appropriate females of noble-enough birth for Rhaegar to wed.
After this in early 279 AC, Rhaegar was formally betrothed to the Dornish princess, Elia Martell, the younger sister of Doran Martell, the crown Prince of Dorne. They married the following year of 280 AC in a lavish ceremony that was held at the Great Sept of Baelor. His father did not attend the wedding as he was paranoid about an assassination attempt, nor did he permit the young Prince Viserys to attend.
Rhaegar and his father's relationship was straining at this point, and he and his new bride took up residence on Dragonstone instead of King's Landing. Rhaegar and Elia had their first child, a girl named Rhaenys, in 280 AC. When the babe was presented at court, Rhaegar's mother, Queen Rhaella, embraced her grandchild warmly while King Aerys remarked: "she smells Dornish". The relationship between Aerys and Rhaegar became more and more estranged.
A little over a year and a half later, Elia and Rhaegar had a son who they named Aegon. Elia, due to her delicate health, was bed-ridden for half a year after giving birth to Rhaenys and nearly died giving birth to Aegon, after which the maesters told Rhaegar she would be unable to have any more children. Maester Aemon, whom Rhaegar corresponded with via raven messages, remembers that Rhaegar believed his child Aegon to be the prince that was promised.
When Lord Tywin resigned his position as Hand of the King and left court, the new focus of King Aerys's mistrust and paranoia was his own son and heir, Prince Rhaegar. At court, there was growing tension between factions loyal to the king and those who were loyal to the prince. Grand Maester Pycelle dispatched a letter to the Citadel, writing that tensions and division at court strongly resembled those shortly before the Dance of the Dragons. Pycelle was fearful a civil war would break out unless some accord could be reached that would satisfy both factions.
In 282 AC, Lord Walter Whent announced a tourney would be held at Harrenhal to rival any previous tournament. It is believed by some that the tourney was secretly arranged and financed by Prince Rhaegar, as a pretext, so Rhaegar could meet with the great lords of the realm to discuss arranging a Great Council and the removal of his father. The tournament was announced by Walter shortly after his brother, Ser Oswell of the Kingsguard, visited his older brother. When Lord Varys alerted Aerys II to this possibility, the king decided to attend the tourney.
During the great tourney at Harrenhal, Rhaegar seemed unstoppable and defeated even Ser Arthur Dayne. Taking the winter rose crown for the queen of love and beauty, he revealed his interest in Lyanna Stark by passing over his wife, Princess Elia of Dorne, and setting it in Lyanna's lap. Eddard Stark later recalled that moment as "when all the smiles died". The next year, Rhaegar seemingly kidnapped Lyanna, for reasons previously unknown. This act ultimately triggered Robert's Rebellion and the final downfall of the Targaryen dynasty.
Some believe that Rhaegar spent the beginning of Robert's Rebellion, also known as the War of the Usurper, with Lyanna Stark at the tower of joy in the Red Mountains of Dorne. Despite her fear, Elia remained in King’s Landing with their children due to her belief in the prophecy passed down to Rhaegar. King Aerys sent Ser Gerold Hightower, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, to retrieve Rhaegar. Leaving Ser Gerold, Ser Arthur Dayne, and Ser Oswell Whent at the tower, Rhaegar returned to the crownlands and took command of the Targaryen army after the defeat of his friend Jon Connington in the battle of the Bells. Ser Jaime Lannister was left at the Red Keep to protect Rhaegar's father and family.
Rhaegar met Lord Robert Baratheon in combat at a ford during the Battle of the Trident, where the pair had a legendary duel in the raging rivers of the Trident. Rhaegar, despite wounding Robert, was struck down with a massive blow from Robert's warhammer, which scattered the rubies encrusted in Rhaegar's armor into the water. Despite receiving a mortal wound, he survived, but was knocked unconscious. Thinking he was dead, Robert left him in the waters.
Upon waking, Rhaegar found himself alone. The wound had cut through his chest cleanly, baring bone. He could not remove his armor on his own; thus, he forced himself to his feet and half stumbled, half crawled to the nearest Inn- Crossroads Inn. The Innkeep, alarmed and confused, took Rhaegar in and did their best to patch him up. During this time of healing, his mother and Viserys were spirited away to Dragonstone Island while his father was slain upon his throne by Jaime Lannister on orders given by Tywinn Lannister. His wife and children were murdered by The Mountain, Gregor Clegane.
Hearing this news, he laid low, keeping his head down and going as far as to color his hair with bricks of dye, darkening the ivory locks to a muddy blonde. He sold the few rubies that remained from his armor for safe (and secret) passage to Dragonstone. It had taken him nearly eight months to completely heal, in which he went by a false name and claimed he was a bastard- a Logaine Rivers. He’d learned of his former wife, Elia’s, death- of his children’s murder, of his father’s murder. Usurped by none other than Jaime Lannister, his former friend, a man of whom he had knighted himself.
He arrived at Dragonstone the day of the great storm, where he bore witness to the birth of his sister, Daenerys. Try as he and her ladymaids might, his mother bled far too much, and passed away due to the complicated birth. He, along with Viserys, Daenerys, and Ser Willem Dary fled to the Free Cities where they would find shelter- and slowly amass a following. For fifteen years, they remained in the Free Cities, being welcomed with open arms. Rhaegar, the true heir of the Iron Throne, was well sought-after by family after family; a twice-widowed Targaryen prince. He, along with his siblings, found solace with Magister Illyrio Mopatis, who allows them to live within his estate in the Free City of Pentos.
He took the time to write in secret to Aemon Targaryen, a distant relative who had been stationed on the Wall, having taken the Black long ago, requesting information- if any- on Ned Stark and the “bastard” that he has. Aemon responds that there is a new Bastard, but knows nothing more. This spurred Rhaegar into writing and sending a raven to Ned Stark, explaining that yes, he is alive- his siblings live, as well. His mother perished, but they are alive, and in Essos, laying low. He requests that Ned look after Aegon and Lyanna, believing her to still be living.
Ned writes back, simply stating that Lyanna died shortly after giving birth to Aegon, who Ned has taken in as his bastard and will be going by the name Jon Snow, and that he would not tell Jon of his true parentage until the time is right. Reading that Lyanna is dead breaks something in Rhaegar, and for a short time, he becomes melancholic and reclusive, refusing to speak or work on gaining favor with the families in Essos, grieving for Lyanna and Elia simultaneously- both women he loved, now dead.

The beginning; The End; The story.
Below you will find the story premise to A future of Ice and Fire: An RP group here on Tumblr as well as Discord. This story splits from the show and the books at around the end of Season *six*. If you have no interest, then there’s no reason to continue reading.
A future of Ice and Fire: The rekindling of the great houses and the Seven Kingdoms.
Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, and Lord Varys warned her of the Night king… Of aiding the North, yet her allies, Olenna Tyrell, Yara Greyjoy, and Ellaria Sand pleaded with her to take the Iron Throne. This was the juncture in which this world splits from what is known.
Who knows the under workings of King’s Landing better than Davos Seaworth and Tyrion Lannister, after all? And with the combined armies of all, and Yara’s warning about Euron’s Iron Fleet, there was enough combined knowledge to take the Iron Throne with minimal civilian casualty. After all, she had three dragons, and the Lannisters had only one Scorpion, not quite powerful enough to pierce the armored hide of a dragon.
A siege of the city would occur, where the majority of the forces would be used to distract the Lannisters, while Seaworth and The Hound [Whom would never turn down an opportunity to ahem ‘distract’ his older Brother in all his undead glory] led a small contingency of men into the back entrance of the Keep; the crypt where the skull of Baelerion the dread watched the darkness. The dragons burned the iron fleet, and the Lannisters; Jaime and Cersei included; were taken prisoner. The Hound and the Mountain both perished in the ensuing madness, and those Kingsguard that stood by the former queen Cersei perished defending their queen. With the keep taken, the Lannister army surrendered, Dany landed Drogon in the courtyard of the red keep with her army close behind, and her Allies; those heads of Four great houses [Stark, Tyrell, Martell, and Greyjoy] came forth to speak for her. “The time of war against our brothers and sisters is over” She announced to them, and the spectating civillians who had seen many monarchs rise and fall in their liftetime alone, but knew nothing other than the name of this new Queen. “But another war is on our doorstep; and the enemy is death itself. The stories your grandmothers and grandfathers told you to scare you are true; and the army of the dead marches against the wall, which will not hold for long. Dragons alone cannot stop this oncoming storm, and if we are to keep death from enveloping the seven kingdoms, we need to unite to protect. Those who cannot fight may find work; coin to feed your families so that we may mine the dragonglass to arm our fighters; farmers to tend the crops and livestock to feed them, and workers to build the walls and battlements that will keep you safe. None will be forced, but all will be asked, and no man, woman, or child will go hungry or without shelter. We have won this war, but now, we must win the Last war.” And that promise was kept. Laborers; men and woman alike lent their hands and backs to prepare every great house and army for this battle; starting with Winterfell and the North. Every one of them was fed and paid and roofs put over their heads. Their children were safe. Olenna Tyrell gladly paid forth from her treasury to protect the realm and the crown, and as  words of the horrors of what the Nights Watch faced at the wall reached south, Even the ornery house Tarly bent the knee to their new Queen; realizing the fate that befell all of the seven kingdoms if they did not put aside their quarrel. The Kingslayer himself; eager to prove his honor in spite of his crimes, accepted the choice to take the black; if only to do what is right for once in his life. His sister; pregnant with his child, was given safe house arrest under constant guard, would be under no harm so as to keep her child from suffering for her mothers’ crime. Such is the merciful heart of a mother [Daenerys] who loved her own children dearly would give to another mother. The wall bought them time; time enough for Jon Snow to get to know his new Queen; how she ached for the suffering of the simple folk, and loved her children; wild and dangerous as they seemed. Time enough to fall in love with her, and her him in turn. The dragons that so fascinated the world took to him as well, and that trust between them all was what kept the rift from separating them when they were faced with the reality of their situation… That Jon Snow was Aegon Targaryen; son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. With reassurance that all he wanted from knowing that was knowing that he had a mother that loved him, who had a name, and that he had no desire for the throne, the only ache between them was that they were related, and being raised by Northmen, bedding ones family was not something that could be done… But he loved her, and she him. Winterfell and the north held off the army of the dead and the Night king as long as they could. They’d managed to get the civilian population south to the next Great house and further; Bran and Sansa as well, but they’d lost many in the process; including Viseryon. The death shook the Dragonqueen, who mourned from Riverrun, where Edmure Tully prepared the armies for the next defense… But even the riverlands fell, and as the army of the dead moved into the Crownlands and passed the Vale, desperation set in. The Red Priestess continued to preach of Azor Ahai, and it was before the battlements of King’s Landing, between the falling armies of the living and the ever growing forces of the dead, that the sacrifice had to be made. Willingly,  after seeing the fall of Rhaegal; her second of three to die at the hands of the dead, did  Daenerys give her life to Jon Snow, making him swear to reveal himself and sit on the Iron Throne, so that a man with a good heart and a good mind could lead the people to prosperity. He plunged the sword into her heart, and pulled forth Lightbringer, to which he was able to help push back the forces of the dead, and end the Night king. Thus started the Reign of Aegon VII Targaryen, first of his name.Though Drogon mourned the passing of his mother, so too did he stay at the side of the man she loved. He’d have a new rider, apparently, though he had little use for war. Gendry, having been legitimized by Daenerys before him, was henceforth warden of the Stormlands, and for his efforts and through the urging of Tyrion Lannister, Bronn of the Blackwater was given the Twins. [What would be better than one castle? Why, two castles of course.] Olenna named her Bastard Grandson, whom she was fond of, as Lord of the Reach, and a legitimate Tyrell so that the house could survive.
The efforts to rebuild what had been lost took much of Aegons adult life, and in the process, he agreed to a political marriage with Obara Martell; as requested by Ellaria Martell [Both Legitimized by Daenerys as well for her service to the crown during the Targaryen-Lannister war.]. They had four children, two girl and two boys, of which the eldest boy, sweet and thoughtful like his father, would take the throne after him.
After the birth of her Daughter, Cersei Lannister was put to trial for her crimes against house Tyrell, House Stark, and the many innocents that were needlessly slaughtered when she blew up the Sept of Baelor, and sentenced to death. Her daughter was given to Tyrion to care for, and it would be she that would head house Lannister, as Tyrion insisted he do not take a wife, though he was the longest living Hand of the King in History, and saw the honor and pride of his house and Casterly rock Restored. What was left of the Dothraki after the long Winter returned to their home in the Dothraki Sea to return to their way of life; having fulfilled their promise and more, and the Unsullied were free to return to what lands they were stolen from. Missandei and Grey Worm did travel to Naath together, so that they could live their lives in peace, and mourn the loss of their queen, while others remained to serve the crown, some turned to trades, or to their homes where they were born to see if there was anything left of their families in Essos. A relative era of Peace was returned to Westeros, with the rebuilding not only rekindling the cities, but the people as well. Those eras saw their share of troubles, as most would, but some 150 years after the Long Winter, all those that were known during that time remained only in memory on paper, or on walls and statues. Stories that old crones told their grandchildren, or anyone that might listen; of the fall and rise of House Targaryen, and what had almost been an endless night. King Vaegon II and his wife Olarra gave birth to two children; two Sons: Aegon VIII Targaryen, the elder, and Valarr. The great houses survived this long, but Turmoil ever stirs when the ambitions of others grow too large. Drogon was old by now; Too old to fight. Large as a mountain, he remained a figurehead of the family. Not far from the keep did he stay; the last of his kind, having not seen war since the days of his mother, but from generation to generation did he show his affection to the descendants of her house. All know the day would come when his life would end, but here he could remain a wonder and a reminder of times long since passed. Every so often he would disappear for years at a time, but always did he return to the keep where his family resided.

Saw your GOT post on Skippy’s page... there is zero way most of season’s 7 & 8 can be GRRM’s actual plan for ASOIAF... unless he too throws the prophecies and all logic out then window. 🤢 So frustrated and annoyed. I’m hopeful it can be fixed but he needs to actually WRITE WOW please!!!!
-- Hi. I am still planning to write my Season 8 opinion but it seems I have been swamped with other things as of the moment. Rest assured I will finish it this week. Haha!
Anyway, here’s a short preview.
I. Remember how Seasons 1-4 were FLAWLESS? It’s due to the fact that the show had the books as a guide to the storyline, characters and overall tone of the show. Dialogues were copied straight from the books. Characters were established. Actors were great except for the younger ones though (I mean, the younger Stark children).
II. Seasons 5-6 started to fall apart. Did you notice how the dialogues and character arcs became flimsy? It became apparent that the writers have haphazardly adapted the stories forward.
No question on the PRODUCTION TEAM behind the show because all the staff and crew have always been excellent in bringing the visual, costume, make-up, prosthetics, fire stunt, stunt double, VFX and others to life.
III. Upon announcing that Seasons 7 and 8 will have 13 episodes in total, we all knew it will be a disaster. One can’t sum up the whole story by cutting the character development and storyline by half. And it did!
All the build up and introduction since Seasons 1-6 were for naught:
1. The Night King, White Walker and the undead Army in general
2. “Winter is Coming” and The Long Night
3.  Babies offered in Craster’s Keep
4. Jon’s mysterious mother and the R + L = J theory
5. Daenery’s survival
a. Consuming a raw stallion’s heart as part of the Dothraki pregnancy ceremony
b. Surviving the funeral pyre with three living dragons
c. Breaking the chain of slavery
d. Surviving just every challenge among others
IV. All these didn’t matter in the end. Season 8 gave us the so-called “writers’ favorite service”, which gave Sansa and Arya unnecessary scenes, lines and importance. With due respect to those who like these two characters, there was no build up on Arya that she will be the one to kill the Night King. Jumping out of nowhere and doing the ninja moves, seriously?
Jon and Daenerys have gone through hell and back since Season 1. The least that we can expect was their arcs to be given justice. Jon Snow aka Aegon Targaryen spent Seasons 1-7 dealing with the undead.
How is it possible that Arya came into the picture? They based that presumption on what Melisandre told Arya in Season 3 about “the green eyes, brown eyes, blue eyes -- eyes you will shut forever”.
It’s like Voldemort was killed by Peeves the Poltergeist instead of Harry Potter just because the writers want to subvert the story. It’s also akin to Thanos being killed by an arrow by Hawkeye. No, it doesn’t make sense. Arya’s arc was not established from the very beginning. Her storyline was focused on revenge against those who murdered her family. Hence, her resolution in going to Braavos to train under JaQen H’ghar in the House of Black and White.
V.  Sansa has no point in asking frivolous lines and dissing Daenerys for no reason whatsoever. Daenerys brought her three dragons and armies to the North for the supposed to be “Great War” and all Sansa was focused on were the food supply and what the dragons were eating. Lest we forget, Daenerys lost two of her dragons and some of her armies, including Missandei.
In every war and battle since Season 1, it is already inherent and implied that soldiers, women and children will suffer from everything. It doesn’t need to be emphasized just to give her the dialogue or scene.
Her dissing Daenerys also has no merit. More on her character later on.
VI. Jon Snow being the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark didn’t amount to anything in the story at all. Bran Stark and Sam Tarly were inclined to tell Jon his true heritage yet the story was more focused on the Stark children to think he is above them all by birthright.
Remember how Jon asked them to make a promise at godswood yet Sansa still shared the secret to Tyrion? She already broke the code because godswood is a sacred place for the Starks at Winterfell.
VII. What happened to Tyrion and Jaime Lannister? Both became dull and foolish in the end. Season 8 gave Jaime the alleged redemption arc only to throw everything away by going back to Cersei. There was also no point on the Jaime and Brienne intimate scenes only for the latter to be hurt by the former.
Remember Maggy the Frog’s prophecy on the young Cersei? Although the show didn’t include the part where Cersei will die under the hands of a Valonqar (Valyrian for “little brother), it still doesn’t give credence to her and Jaime’s reunion in the end.
In Book 5, A Dance with Dragons, Jaime has already discovered Cersei’s evil ways. He has started to despise Cersei yet in the show, the writers chose to have them die together in the rubble after the horrible things that Cersei has done since Season 1.
“Nothing else matters. Only us.”
--Jaime Lannister
Way to go in ruining Brienne before that huh? Haha!
VIII. Daenerys going mad in Episode 5 didn’t make sense. It’s not that Daenerys is not capable of being mad but since Season 8 was cut in ridiculous proportions that all the storylines have to be acted out per minute in each episode.
Daenerys “blasting full mad” in one episode is a folly. Had they only executed the “mad” aspect well, book readers and viewers would have understood it but they didn’t. It was a race to the finish line.
Have Dany in “Mad Queen mode” in one scene then Jon stabbed her in the end. Just like that or I call it “Wingardium Leviosa” style. Swish and flick  -- there goes Dany’s death. Haha!
Drogon should have killed Jon though. DROGON AND GHOST are two of the best moments in Season 8.
I/we can’t believe that a great story was ruined by lazy writing. Negative comments everywhere on social media, especially Youtube. I have also posted those reviews in the blog. They made great points too.
This has been a long post. It still doesn’t cover some of the characters but I hope to write another one next time. Thank you for dropping by. :)
P.S  And yes, let’s just look forward to the remaining two books from GRRM soon.

Fire and Blood - German Preview Translation Part 1.
Disclaimer: it's been a while since I studied German, there's bound to be a few mistakes, any corrections are appreciated.
The Maesters of the Citadel, who preserve the history of Westeros, have been using Aegon's conquest as the starting point of their era for three hundred years. Births, deaths, battles and other events are either dated before Aegon's Conquest or after Aegon's Conquest.
The true scholar knows how imprecise such information is. Aegon Targaryen's Conquest of the Seven Kingdoms did not take place in a single day. More than two years elapsed between Aegon's landing and his coronation in Oldtown... and even after that the conquest was not yet complete because Dorne was not yet subjected. Occasional attempts were repeated during King Aegon's reign, even during the reign of his sons. Therefore, it is impossible to give an exact date for the end of the Wars of Conquest.
Even the start date is based on an erroneous idea. It is often mistakenly assumed that the reign of King Aegon I Targaryen began the day he landed at the mouth of the Black Water, at the foot of the three hills around which the city of King’s Landing would later rise. That's not true! The day of Aegon's Landing was celebrated by the king and his descendants, but the conqueror himself actually counted the years of his reign after the day he was anointed and crowned king in the Starry Sept of Oldtown by the High Septon of Faith. This coronation took place two years after Aegon's Landing, some time after the Targaryens defeated and won the three major battles in the Wars of Conquest. As you can see, most of Aegon's actual conquest took place one to two years before Aegon's conquest.
The Targaryens came from the purest Valyrian blood and were dragonlords of an old sex(?). Twelve years before the Doom of Valyria, Aenar Targaryen sold his possessions in the Free Hold and in the Land of the Always Summer and moved with his consorts, his possessions, slaves, dragons, siblings, children and relatives to Dragonstone, a desolate island citadel under a smoking mountain in the Narrow Sea.
At its peak, Valyria was the largest city in the known world, the center of civilization. Behind its glittering walls, forty rival houses vied for power and glory in court and council, and rose and fell in the endless, volatile and often violent struggle for dominion. The Targaryens were by far not the most powerful of the Dragon Lords, and their rivals condemned their flight to Dragonstone as an act of capitulation and cowardice. But Lord Aenar's virgin daughter, Daenys, who forever made history as Daenys the Dreamer, had foreseen the Doom of Valyrias by fire. And when, twelve years later, the fatality came over Valyria, the Targaryens were the only dragon lords to survive.
Dragonstone had been the westernmost outpost of Valyrian power for two centuries. It’s position across the throat allowed it’s masters to strangle the Blackwater Bay, so both the Targaryen and their close allies, the Velaryons of Driftmark (a lower house of Valyrian origin), were able to enrich trade in the region. The Velaryon fleet, along with another Valyrian house, the Celtigars of Claw Island, controlled the middle area of the Narrow Sea, while the Targaryen ruled the sky with their dragons.
Nevertheless, for most of the first hundred years after the Doom (which is aptly called the Century of the Blood), Targaryen's eyes turned eastward rather than westward, showing little interest in Westeros. Gaemon Targaryen, brother and consort of Daenys the Dreamer, followed Aenar the Exile as Lord of Dragonstone and became famous as Gaemon the Glorious. Gaemon's son Aegon and his daughter Elaena reigned together after his death. They were followed by their son Maegon, his brother Aerys and Aerys' sons Aelyx, Baelon and Daemion. The last of the three brothers was Daemion, whose son Aerion eventually became Lord of Dragonstone.
Then Aegon, known to history as Aegon the Conqueror and Aegon the Dragon, was born in 27 B.C. on Dragonstone. He was the only son and second child of Aerion, Lord of Dragonstone, and Lady Valaena of House Velaryon, who was half Targaryen through her mother. Aegon had two siblings, an older sister, Visenya, and a younger sister, Rhaenys. For a long time it had been the custom of the Valyrian Dragonlords to marry brother to sister to keep the blood pure, but Aegon took both sisters to wife. By tradition, he would only have had to marry his older sister Visenya; Taking Rhaenys as a second wife was unusual, if not without historical precedent. Some said Aegon married Visenya out of duty, but Rhaenys because he desired her.
All three siblings had already proved themselves as Dragonlords before their wedding. Of the five dragons that had flown with Aenar the Exile to Dragonstone, only one lived in Aegon's days: the great beast Balerion the Black Dread. The other two, Vhagar and Meraxes, were younger and first hatched on Dragonstone.
Among the ignorant, is the myth that Aegon Targaryen never set foot on the continent's soil before the day he set sail to conquer Westeros, but this cannot be true. Years before this voyage, at Lord Aegon's behest, the painted panel had been carved and decorated: a huge wooden panel, about fifty feet long, in the shape of the landmass of Westeros, painted with all the forests and rivers and cities and castles of the Seven Kingdoms. Apparently, Aegon had long been interested in Westeros long before the events that drove him to war. There are also reliable accounts of a young Aegon and his sister Visenya's stay in the Citadel of Oldtown, as well as a visit to hawk on the Arbor as guests of Lord Rothweyn. He could have also visited Lannisport. Here contradict the sources.
In Aegon's youth, Westeros was divided into seven contentious kingdoms, and there were hardly times when two or three of these kingdoms did not wage war against each other. The wide, cold and stony north was ruled by the Starks of Winterfell. In the deserts of Dorne, the word of the princes of the House Martell was law. The gold-rich Westerlands dominated by the Lannisters of Casterly Rock, the fertile expanse the Gardener of Highgarden. The Vale, the Fingers and the Mountains of the Moon belonged to House Arryn. But the most wary kings of Aegon's times ruled the two kingdoms closest to Dragonstone - Harren the Black and Argilac the Arrogant.
From Storm’s End, the Storm Kings of House Durrandon once ruled the eastern half of Westeros from Eagle Cape to Crab Bay, but their power had been dwindling for centuries. The Kings of Reach had taken over areas in the west, the Dornish pressed them to the south, and Harren the Black and his Ironborn drove them away from the Trident and from the lands north of the Blackwater. King Argilac, the last Durrandon, was able to stop this decline for some time as a boy when turning back a Dornish invasion. Then he crossed the Narrow Sea, where he joined the great alliance against the "Tigers" of Volantis; Twenty years later he killed Garse VII, the King of the Reach, in the battle of Summerfield. But then age had caught up with Argilac: his famous black mane had turned gray and his strength in the fight had diminished.
North of the Blackwater, Harren the Back from House Hoare, the king of the Iron Islands and the Rivers, dominated the Riverlands with a bloody hand. Harren's grandfather Harwyn Hoare, an Ironborn, had taken over Trident from Argilac's grandfather Arrec, whose ancestors had cast down the last River King centuries before. Harren's father had extended his rule east to Duskendale and Rosby. Harren himself dedicated nearly forty years of his rule to building a huge castle on the God’s Eye, but as Harrenhal neared completion, the Ironborn were ready for new conquests.
No king in Westeros was more feared than Harren the Black, who was known in all Seven Kingdoms for his legendary cruelty. And no king in Westeros felt more threatened than Argilac the Storm King, the last Durrandon - an aging warrior whose sole heir was his virgin daughter. And so it came about that Argilac turned to the Targaryens on Dragonstone and offered Lord Aegon the hand of his daughter, with a dowry of all land east of the God's Eye from the Trident to the Blackwater.
Aegon Targaryen rejected the offer of the Storm King. He already has two wives, he explained, and do not need a third. In addition, the offered dowry of the lands had already been part of Harrenhal for over a generation, so Argilac could not give it away. Obviously, the aging Storm King wanted the Targaryens on the Blackwater to be a buffer between his own lands and those of Harrens the Black.
But the Lord of Dragonstone made him a counter offer. He would take the lands offered to him if Argilac additionally left him Massey's hook and the forests and plains south of the Blackwater to the Wendwater and the Manders. The pact was to be sealed by the marriage of Argilac's daughter to Orys Baratheon, Lord Aegon's knight and childhood friend.
Argilac angrily rejected this proposal. It was rumored that Orys Baratheon was an illegitimate half-brother of Lord Aegon of low birth. The Storm King did not want to dishonor his daughter by giving her hand to a bastard. But the suggestion angered him beyond measure. Argilac cut off the hands of Aegon’s messenger and sent them back to him in a box. "These are the only hands your bastard will get from me," he wrote.
Aegon did not answer. Instead, he called his friends, vassals, and allies to Dragonstone. Their numbers was small. The Velaryons of Driftmark were bound by oath to House Targaryen, as well as the Celtigars of Claw Isle. From Massey's Hook came Lord Bar Emmon of Sharp Point and Lord Massey of Stonedance, both of whom were bound to Storm’s End by oath, but had closer ties to Dragonstone. Lord Aegon and his sisters conferred with them and even visited the castle sept together to pray to the Faith of the Seven, though Aegon had not been known for his piety until then.
On the seventh day, a flock of ravens flew from Dragonstone's towers, carrying Lord Aegon's word into the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The birds flew to the Seven Kings, to the Citadel of Oldtown, to lords large and small. All of them carried the same message: From that day on, there would only be one king in Westeros. Anyone who would bend the knee to Aegon Targaryen will keep his lands and titles. Those who raise arms against him will be cast down, humiliated and destroyed.
The reports of the number of men that started with Aegon and his sisters on Dragonstone are contradictory. Some call three thousand, others count only hundreds. This modest Targaryen army landed at the mouth of the Black Water, on the north shore, where three wooded hills rose above a small fishing village.
In the days of the One Hundred Kingdoms, many petty kings had claimed control of the estuary, including the Darklyns of Duskendale, the Masseys of Stonedance and the Ancient River Kings, whether Mud, Fisher, Bracken, Blackwood or Hook. Time and again, towers and festivals crowned the three hills, only to be destroyed in this or that war afterwards. Now only broken stones and overgrown ruins welcomed the Targaryens. Although both Storm’s End and Harrenhal claimed the estuary, it was not defended, and the next castles were held by lesser lords without great power or military strength, and Lords, who had little reason to love their lord, Harren the Black.
Aegon Targaryen fortified the highest hill with a wood and earth palisade and sent his sisters to subjugate the neighboring castles. Rosby surrendered to Rhaenys and her gold eyed Meraxes without a fight. At Stokeworth, some crossbowmen shot bolts at Visenya until Vhagar's flames set fire to the roofs of the castle. After that, they also surrendered.
The first real challenge for the Conqueror was represented by Lord Darklyn of Duskendale and Lord Muton of Maidenpool, who banded together and marched southward with three thousand men to throw the invaders back into the sea. Aegon dispatched Orys Baratheon, who was supposed to ambush her while he was on the move, while he himself plunged from the air with the Black Dread. Both Lords fell in unequal battle. Then Lord Darklyn’s son and Muton's brother handed over their castles and swore their swords House Targaryen. At that time, Duskendale was the most important port of Westeros on the Narrow Sea and rich in trade. Visenya Targaryen forbade the plunder of the city, but did not hesitate to claim its riches, which filled the conquerors' chests.
This passage might be worth a few words about the different characters of Aegon Targaryen’s his sister-wives and queens.
Visenya, the eldest of the three, was as ferocious a warrior as Aegon himself, and felt as much at home in a chain mail as in silk. She wore a Valyrian steel longsword, Dark Sister, whom she could handle with great expertise because she had been practicing weapons with her brother since early childhood. Although she was blessed with the silver-gold hair and violet eyes of Valyria, her beauty was rather harsh. Even those who loved her described Visenya as stern, serious and vindictive. Some even said that she played around with poisons and was involved with dark magic.
Rhaenys, the youngest of the three, embodied the exact opposite of her sister. She was playful, curious, impulsive, and was fond of reverie. Rhaenys was not a true warrior, but she loved music, dance and poetry and supported singers, mimes and puppeteers. Still, it is said that Rhaenys spent more time on the back of her dragon than her brother and sister together, because she loved flying over everything. Once she is said to have said that before she died, she wanted to fly to Meraxes over the Sunset Sea to see what lay on its west coast. While no one ever questioned Visenya's loyalty to her brother's consort, Rhaenys surrounded himself with handsome young men and, it was whispered, had fun in bed with some of them when Aegon spent the night with her older sister. Despite these rumors, observers at court did not fail to notice that for every night Aegon spent with Visenya, he spent ten with Rhaenys.
Strangely enough, Aegon Targaryen himself was just as much a mystery to his contemporaries as he is to us. He was one of the greatest warriors of his time and wielded Blackfyre, a blade of Valyrian steel. Nevertheless, he had not much love for weapon acts and rode neither in the tournament, nor he fought in buhurt. His dragon was Balerion the Black Dread, but he only rode it for battle or to travel over land and sea. Thanks to his commanding manner, he found it easy to gather men to his banners, but apart from Orys Baratheon, the companion of his youth, he had no close friends. Women were attracted to him, but Aegon remained faithful to his sister-wives. As a king, he entrusted many tasks to his Small Council and his sisters, leaving them with much of the day-to-day affairs of government, but he did not hesitate to take matters into his own hands whenever he thought necessary. He went to court with rebels and traitors, but he was always generous to former enemies who bent the knee.
He proved this for the first time in the Aegonfort, the simple wooden and earth ramp he had erected on the mountain, which was now to be called Aegon's High Hill. After taking a dozen castles and securing the mouth of the Blackwater on both shores, he commanded the defeated lords to his side. They laid their swords at his feet, but Aegon helped them up and confirmed them in their lands and titles. He gave his oldest followers new honors. Daemon Velaryon, Lord of the Tides, called him Master of the Ships and gave him command of the Royal Fleet. Triston Massey, Lord of Stonedance, was appointed Master of Laws, Crispian Celtigar the Master of Coin. And he called Orys Baratheon "my faithful shield and retainer, my strong, right-hand man." Therefore, Orys Baratheon is considered the first Hand of the King.
Coat of arms had long been a tradition among the Lords of Westeros, but the Ancient Lords of Valyria had never used such a thing. When Aegon's knights unrolled his great battle standard of silk, showing a red, fire-breathing dragon with three heads on a black background, the lords took this as a sign that he had truly become one of their own, a worthy High King of Westeros. When Queen Visenya set her brother a ruby-studded Valyrian steel hoop on his head and Queen Rhaenys proclaimed him as "Aegon, the first of His name, King of all Westeros and Shield of His people," the dragons roared, and the lords and knights cheered ... but the loudest among them were the fishermen and field workers and women.
Only the seven kings Aegon intended to dethrone the dragon did not rejoice. In Harrenhal and Storm’s End, Harren the Black and Argilac, who had already called the arrogant, called the banners. In the west, King Mern rode from the Reach up the Ocean Road northward to Casterly Rock, to meet King Loren of House Lannister. The Princess of Dorne sent a raven to Dragonstone and offered support to Aegon in the fight against Argilac the Storm King ... but as an equal ally, not a subject. Another alliance offer came from the child king of the Vale, Ronnel Arryn, whose mother offered to support Aegon against Harren the Black, and in return demanded all lands east of the Green Fork of the Trident. Even in the north, King Torrhen Stark of Winterfell sat with his lords and advisors late into the night and discussed how to deal with this would-be conqueror. The whole kingdom was anxiously awaited Aegon's next move.
