vi is so fucking fascinating to me, I am studying her like a bug in a jar

she was a CHILD putting on her father's gauntlets in spite of the fear gathered in her little body, in spite of just witnessing someone she's known all her life die in a HORRIFIC way (benzo), still she rises, still she says I HAVE TO DO THIS still she takes on men three times her size and fucks them up so bad that silco has to send his shimmered up fucked up monster to try to stop her and STILL she persists, indifferent to the worst happening because she’s survived the worst already. furious and unstoppable and determined to do whatever she has to survive and ensure those she loves survive, no matter the cost.

vi under all that debris, bruised, bleeding, screaming, watching her family die, staring at the monkey head in shock and crying because this can't be happening, they were so close...

sobbing in pain until her father saves her just to watch helpless as he dies protecting her. they were so SO CLOSE to surviving, so close to escaping and everything gets ripped away in a second

vi trapped in that prison cell for years and years on end with the ghosts of her family and her guilt for company, drowning in guilt, wondering if her sister's still alive, no doubt thinking about how she LET her slip right through her fingers

the last thing vander said to her was "take care of powder"

she's let the man who's her FATHER and loves more than anything down.

"whatever happens is on you" / "protect the family" / "take care of powder" .... but she can't, not anymore, she's fucked it up and let everyone down (re "I should have been there for you, for everyone") all she can do is sit in that shitty prison cell, on that freezing floor, hungry, bloody, counting the hours until she can somehow rescue powder

Vi is piercings and tats that no doubt got infected, she's a child becoming a woman too fast, she is a danger-zone high-risk disaster area and won't back down, won't give up.

Vi is soft!! self-sacrificing, protective, supportive. ("You wanna talk about today?", "We've all had bad days, but we learn, and we stick together") brave, SMART, witty. she's got a tongue sharp as her fists and a barbed, delicious sense of humour. she gives people nicknames (cupcake, pow pow, pretty boy) and fights with everything that she's got to protect what she loves!!!! she is her father's daughter!!!

she is idealistic and expects the world to see her reason, look at things through her eyes and wanna make a change ( "This is how things are, how they've always been. I was so stupid to think it could change. / "oil and water that's all there is" )

and yes! vi is not flawless. she's obsessive (re sevika. to her eyes she is the last thing standing between her and silco/getting to silco and saving jinx) and complicated, morally ambivalent because she makes mistakes, flies off the handle like a comet crashing through everything in her way, makes reckless choices because she has to. she is selfish when it comes to jinx and would do anything to keep her safe.

I wanted to say that outside of semantics and divisions - I am simply happy to find communities that welcome with kindness - that welcome you by a good heart and not the ability to conform. I am happy for the opportunity to be surrounded by people who care. It's a funny world we live in - making the same mistakes over and over, multiplying the same suffering by billions. It’s just—Buck is big and it kind of drives Eddie a little crazy.  Like? God, okay. He’s a little stupid over it. You’ll have to forgive him.  He is so big, right, larger than Eddie and Eddie isn’t a small guy. He’s filled out since finishing his probationary year, settling in his career and getting comfortable in the life he chose for himself and Chris. He’s more functional muscle than big gains; his stomach’s soft, protected by a sweet layer of fat, but his core’s solid and his arms are twice the size they used to be when he was twenty-seven.  See? He isn’t small.  But, like, Buck’s just bigger, wider and broader and thicker, and there’s something so delicious about having somebody that large at his mercy, at his every beck and call. Buck has this quality about him, no matter his size, like he’s always ready to drop to his knees and let himself be taken care of, and it has Eddie’s head buzzing in a way that most definitely isn’t from the beer.

I think the reason I’m so attached to the lightcannon ship is that these two misfits from crazy different places/families who have never felt like they fit in and have never been really understood by anyone around them find each other and suddenly experience so much unconditional acceptance and adoration and love and freedom with each other. Like Jinx was abandoned after being orphaned (twice) and Lux lives in a constant state of pretending to be someone she’s not to avoid prosecution. You know those two would take one look at each other and be like ‘I am going to protect you from the world even if it all has to burn’ It’s that kind of gothic devotion of ‘I will literally wither away if I’m without you’ like YES please be so devoted to each other you’d burn a whole city just to see the light in their eyes. Idk it really just gets me like ik they’ve never really interacted in cannon but you can just TELL they have so much in common despite their wildly different backgrounds idk maybe it’s just me but I honestly just love how I imagine their dynamic

something i really really really really love is how across almost every single universe yasuo is portrayed as being really good with kids/teenagers + how coincidentally every one he’s portrayed with shares narrative traits with him. yasuo grew up misunderstood and isolated just like jinx. annie and taliyah, just like him, have been blessed by a great, uncontrollable power that they don’t quite know how to manage. joab is obviously meant to parallel him as a child, under the submission of his brother who he respects more than anyone else.

and i think this is intentional because it really tells us so MUCH about yasuo’s character. the world has not been kind to him. he lives under circumstances that force him to be aggressive, to be violent, to kill. but, despite all this, the fact that his true nature is kind is noticeable. it comes through in the way he treats these children, the elderly, the way he forgives riven because she knows she did not mean to cause him the hurt she did, the way he treats ahri despite knowing she’s killed and could again. he knows when it is that people need scorn and when it is that they need kindness. he knows to show these lonely children the compassion he did not have as a boy so they don’t turn out the way he did. because his inherent nature is geared to be that kind and protective and he just doesn’t get the chance to show it. because he’s a good person
