Happyhoganon: How about a story that has Superman & Ladybug outsmarting Lex Luthor together?
Why are all our Supervillains Bald?
"You didn't have to knock my Partner out like that, you know," Ladybug huffs as she settles Chat Noir into the deck chair of her civilian balcony, feeling miffed about the whole situation. Superman, having the decency to not complain and to cooperate while being lectured, handed her the red and black tent poles, from the red and black-spotted camping trunk her Lucky Charm had summoned earlier, when she wordlessly motioned for him to get them.
"You're right, Ladybug- I'll apologize to him once he's awake," the man in blue and red said as he helped Ladybug untie the shade cover from overhead. For all the gear inside the box, an actual tent was not one of them, so of course improvising was happening. There was a sleeping-bag, of course, but Ladybug had instructed Superman to wear it like a cloak so he wouldn't attract so much attention with his recognizable uniform as they tried to escape and hide from the Akuma. With the ladybug spotting it sported, though, he was pretty sure it did quite the opposite.
Ladybug nodded in acknowledgment of Superman's spoken words, concentrating her focus on the makeshift shelter they were putting over Chat. As a final touch, she pulled a tall potted plant in front of the entrance, completely sheltering Chat Noir from view at any angle. She crossed her arms and nodded, satisfied. Then she spun on her heel and pointed at Superman, who tensed from the sudden change in her point of focus. "Alright, tell me everything you know about this Akuma victim! No more rushed or vague answers; I need to know why Chat was being targeted and how that affected him so much that you had to go and decommission him. Talk, blue boy."
Superman was honestly surprised she hadn't called him Boy Scout like many before. In fact, he half expected her to call him by his civilian name like another black haired, blue eyed figure of justice he knew. Ladybug even looked liked she belonged smack dab in the middle of Batman's nest of children, teens, and adults who could all kick butts and take names.
Shaking the thoughts from his head, Superman answered her demands. "Lex Luthor, a common obstacle of mine from back in the States. Started out as a small town millionaire-by-inheritance when I first knew him, and turned into a 'Big Apple Billionaire' when the last of his morals went out the window if his latest sports car." Ladybug looked absolutely baffled by the sudden metaphor, so he quickly rephrased. "Lex's father started making dirty money off the company before he died, and Lex decided to follow suit once he realized just how dirty he could make his hands by applying his high intelligence and military-worthy knowledge to the black markets. I was keeping track of him and came here as soon as I realized something was happening involving him." Her curious look made him give a sheepish smile and point to his ear with a free hand that wasn't holding the sleeping-bag closed around his shoulders. "Super-hearing. I knew what Jupiter sounded like before NASA did."
"Okay," Ladybug looked a mix of skeptical and awed, but nodded then shook her head. "That still doesn't explain how you treated Chat."
A bit warry to answer, Superman looked away, watching the flowers that hid her Partner. "My people have a weakness to a particular type of radiation that comes from our home planet. When that planet was destroyed, pieces of it scattered all over the universe. Earth has a few tons of this Kryptonite from fine dust particles alone, but larger pieces survived entry, too. Lex Luthor has known about the material for years and hoards it to use at any chance he gets."
"Obsessed with the biggest weakness of the opposing hero, I know how that feels," Ladybug sighed, and Superman gave her a sympathetic pat on the shoulder.
"No doubt. But this material does more than just weaken me, Ladybug. Different kinds have different effects, and some, even in different forms, can affect humans, too." Ladybug tensed at that, glancing at her Partner before locking worried eyed back onto Superman. He gave her a grim expression then shook his head. "I've seen it first hand and experienced it myself, it isn't pretty. I've seen the stuff cause sickness, power weapons, even create Meta's. Earth is not a place for this, it isn't safe like it was back home. Maybe if it ha been around for millions of years, life could have evolved to live alongside it, but..."
"But we don't have that sort of time now," Ladybug concludes, and Superman nods. "So his targeting of Chat-?"
"The radiation of Kryptonite can enhance powers or even cause mind control. Chat Noir and his ability under the control of my Villain and yours? I couldn't see things ending well. I knew things were about to go off the rocker. So when he got nicked and the wound glowed green, I- I'm sorry, Ladybug, but magic and I do not-and I mean REALLY do not-mix well, so I'm at a doubled-and-amplified disadvantage here. Benching your Partner was my only option."
"With M. Luthor Akumatized and making this stuff to his heart's content like that- Now that I know, I have a bad feeling you'd have been right. It doesn't make me feel any better, though," Ladybug sighed.
Superman nodded, accepting of her words. "I won't feel good about it either. I'm just glad it won't be permanent."
"Yeah, if we win," Ladybug adds glumly, and he pats her on the back, hard enough to knock her out of the bad mood. She blinks at him, shocked, and she smiled encouragingly.
"We will win, I promise. It may not be as fast as we would like, especially since it will only be the two of use seeing as the whole JLE branch had to evacuate after Hawkmoth showed up-" Ladybug chuckled awkwardly, remembering how stressed she had been knowing she and Chat Noir were on their own unless a specific foreign hero was there to help them with one of their own villains, like right now- "But we will. I know Lex's weaknesses as a person, as well as where to find what he's looking for. Wonder Woman used to guard a stash of Kryptonite under the Louvre before we had to move it, and only the Heads of the JL know where it is now. And you, well-"
"I know Hawkmoth's weaknesses, and the ones of his Akumas, as well as his goals, too. After all, I wear them on my own ears. Yeah... Yeah, you're right! We can do this!" Ladybug cracks a smile and a glimmer gets into her eyes as her gaze falls on the Lucky Charm camping trunk. "And I know just how to start. Come on, blue boy, we're heading for the Louvre to take down a couple of baldies."
Glad to have lifted her spirits, Superman grins. "I'm at your command, red lady."

-RUN ITS NOT GODZILLA!
-Ladybug and Chat noir getting their butt kicked.
-Fei also getting wrecked.
-Zag confirmed furry
-Fei just left them high and dry.
-And Chat noir is dead! ANGST.
-Ladybug gonna talk some sense into her.
-The mascara smeared. Thats real sadness.
-Cue power of friendship talk.
-Fei saves her with the power of friendship.
-dragon v. dragon fight!
-Oh I like this lucky charm.
- Yaloshi is his name now? (these subs are confusing)
-Oh snap, the power of team work! And fighting in the belly of the beast.
-THAT LADYNOIR HUG.
-They tied up the guy.
-Fei should have killed the guy.
-Meishi is adorable.
-I LOVE THIS LITTLE CONVERSATION. THEY ARE GONNA PRETEND TO RACE. and then show up later.
-Oh fei, marinette AND Adrien are celebrating his birthday. Thats cute.
-They BOTH SAID IT! I Cant even! (also I see you Adrien, you aint slick)
-The boys crushing on Fei.
-Adrien has such soft looks for Marinette.
____________________________________________________________
So overall. The beginning was a tiny bit cringe, but not as bad as the trailer made it out to be.
I really liked Fei. She grows on ya. And I liked Lady dragon. I liked the renlings
I will say it is a better special in terms of Lore and plot than the NY special. It was lacking in the love square interactions that I wanted. But they were still cute when they had them. I do think there are a few plot holes, like Eagle being an action figure. WHEN DID THIS SPECIAL TAKE PLACE. (Edit, found out it was an animation error, NVM)
Also, now the elephant in the room? Was the special racist?
The answer is, no.
It wasn't racist, so we can all calm down about it?
So I give it an 8/10
The lore being my favorite parts.

Three Kids and a Hamster
This was my contribution to the @adrienettezine.  I joined the zine as a beta and ended up as a pinch hitter - this sweet little fluffy story was the result.  I hope you enjoy it!  I just love these two so much.
Read it on Ao3 here.
                                           **********************
The same full moon that lit their way over rooftops and across the Seine an hour before shines through the hatch above the bed, illuminating their entwined legs in its gentle glow and casting shadows on the room below. Even if she weren't tucked beneath his arm with her cheek against his chest, this would be a place of perfect peace, awash in a sense of rightness and comfort and home. It makes his chest constrict all of a sudden, his next inhale a sharp shudder that rouses her immediately from near-sleep.
"You okay, Chaton?" she murmurs, eyes wide and worried.
He reassures her with a soft, genuine smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just...thinking."
Bending forward to press a kiss to her forehead, he pulls her back down to his chest and starts up a purr for her. The breathy giggle he gets in return is always worth the twinge of embarrassment and the weird tickle in his throat.
"About what?"
The purr dies down, replaced with a contented hum. "How much I love you, of course, Princess. What else?"
As expected, she swats him playfully and laughs, but a moment later he feels her hand stretch across his torso as she cuddles closer into his side.
"I mean it," she whispers into his shirt. "Your breathing got all weird. What's wrong?"
"Bugaboo, you know you take my breath away!"
"Adrien."
Her voice is all no-nonsense Ladybug, but it just makes him grin wider.
"I'm actually not kitten, Marinette."
She groans and lifts her head again but when she meets his gaze after an exaggerated eye roll, her features soften in response to his. She begins to duck her head shyly before changing course and pressing her lips to his instead, soft and sweet and warm. His eyes slip shut and he melts beneath her, his ever-romantic heart singing her name over and over in a three-beat cadence.
"I love you, too," she whispers against his lips, finally breaking away after a long, slow kiss that leaves them both breathless.
After a quick kiss at the corner of his mouth and another on his jaw, she settles back into the crook of his neck, her breath warm and tickly and perfect against his skin.
Logically, he knows he needs to transform and head home, but the stark difference between his bedroom prison and Marinette's warmth is enough to keep him here just a little longer, stretching time and tempting fate.
Wouldn't it be wonderful, he thinks, as the sleepy calm drifts over them once more, to stay here forever, just like this?
He imagines waking up this way, morning breath and snoring kwamis and a warm tangle of limbs illuminated by a new day's dawnlight instead of the quiet moon. Perhaps there would be a purring cat asleep on the bed with them. And one day, maybe, he'd wake to find a toddler who had crawled up onto the bed and wriggled between them in the night to be close to maman and papa. A family. His heart squeezes with emotion again, but he keeps his breathing steady and Marinette doesn't seem to notice this time.
Dreaming of what the future might hold seems like an extravagant luxury in a world where a supervillain regularly terrorizes Paris and threatens to rend the very fabric of the universe and its delicate balance. Then again, isn't that all the more reason to dream?
Even with the freedom being Chat Noir grants him, the responsibility of avoiding that fate is a heavy weight across his shoulders, and a far more cumbersome yoke on his Lady's. Imagining a day when they can transform for fun instead of necessity, cook dinner together, fall asleep just like this, and not have to wonder if an akuma alert will rouse them before the sun—well, that just makes him fight each battle harder and despise Hawkmoth that much more. After all, the fate of humanity includes the fate of Adrien Agreste and Marinette Dupain-Cheng, too.
Her fingers glide feather-light at his wrist, so he knows she's still awake, and before he can think twice about it, he's murmuring a question into the dark.
"Hey, Bug?" He takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. "Do you ever think about...the future?"
Her hand stops its gentle, soothing motion against his arm, and he misses the feeling immediately.
"After we defeat Hawkmoth, or...?" she trails off.
"That could happen tomorrow, so let's start with tomorrow and go from there."
She resumes her caress, though this time her hand trails higher, up and under his t-shirt sleeve to the warm skin of his bicep. He smiles against her hair and hugs his heat-seeking little bug tighter.
"Well, tomorrow we have a calculus test, then you have a piano lesson after school. I really didn't plan anything beyond that, but if we're going to squeeze in an epic final battle with Hawkmoth, I suppose I should work on my history project at lunch to get ahead."
"Cheeky bug!" He tickles her in retaliation, and she giggles into his chest. "I was being serious!"
"I know, Minou." She laughs for another moment but says nothing more.
He waits through one deep breath, then two, before he whispers her name, questioning, against her hair.
She cranes her neck to look up at him, her gaze shy but warm. "It's just...can I be weird?"
Ah, that explains her reticence. The delighted half-smile that crosses his face is pure Chat Noir, but he can't help it. He loves this.
"Of course, My Lady. Always."
Five months and four days ago (yes, he's counting—it was the greatest day of his life, so far), after more than three years of superhero partnership and civilian friendship, an unplanned reveal, and the awkward nine day aftermath (yes, he counted—it was awful), they'd finally made it official. Adrien and Marinette had, at least. Ladynoir was still under wraps for now to avoid suspicion, but he looked forward to the day when a real kiss they could both remember would grace the front page of the Ladyblog.
At the beginning, between blissful kisses and timid touches, they'd taken the time to really get to know each other—with no secrets between them, a whole, beautiful picture emerged. It was amazing and thrilling and freeing. It was also a bit embarrassing.
She'd seen him in his Ladybug pajamas one evening when she'd stopped by his bedroom for an unplanned visit. Another afternoon, he'd opened a drawer in her room looking for a pen and discovered approximately two dozen photos of himself looking back at him. Plagg had unceremoniously dropped Adrien's Ladybug and Chat Noir action figures onto Marinette's lap while they watched a movie and proceeded to tell her that Adrien sometimes played with his dolls and made them kiss. He'd never been so mortified in his life (and he once fought an akuma wearing a banana costume, so that was saying something), especially when Marinette had laughed until she cried.
He'd have sentenced the tiny magical agent of chaos to eating Velveeta for a week if Marinette hadn't caught her breath, removed his hands from his beet-red face, and kissed him silly.
Afterward, lovestruck, he'd asked, "So I'm not...weird?"
Cheeks still stained with the sweetest blush, eyes soft and bright and full of love, she'd responded, "Of course you are, kitty. I already knew that," and kissed him again for good measure. "It's a good thing your Lady is just as weird."
And just like that, it was okay. His pajamas, her photo collection, his action figures, her calendar.
Can I be weird? preceded his admission of being unable to sleep if his Marinette lucky charm wasn't beneath his pillow. It was asked before he learned she slept with her handmade Chat Noir plushie beside her every night.
The question is rhetorical, of course. Permission to be weird is simply indemnity from embarrassment, a solemn vow of understanding between them. It's been the lead-in to many shared secrets and it still gives him a little thrill every time, just knowing that he's about to learn another closely-held tidbit about his Lady.
Tonight, he's especially curious—the question he asked was about the future, after all.
"I used to think about it a lot," she begins quietly. "And I mean, a lot. I'm a planner, you know."
Oh, he knows. Thank goodness one of them is.
"You've seen my sketchbook. You saw my wedding dress designs and all your possible matching tuxes. Alya's dress and Nino's suit..."
"And they were beautiful, Bug. I loved them all."
He can feel her smile against his t-shirt collar.
"Thank you, Chaton. But...it's not just that. I, um...I chose the flowers for my bouquet, I planned the menu for the reception dinner—"
"And your parents will make the croquembouche," he whispers, suddenly entranced.
She nods, but goes silent once more. He wants to hear about everything—the venue she imagined for the service and reception, what they'll wear at the civil ceremony prior, whether their guests will throw rice or rose petals or wheat as they exit as newlyweds. It's all so beautiful, his heart is positively singing; how could she ever think this is weird?
"I named our children."
The song in his heart comes to an abrupt stop when the rhythm falters before restarting at hummingbird speed.
Dazed, he breathes, "Our..."
"I know!" she groans. She covers her eyes with one hand and buries her face in his shirt. Her voice is muffled, but he's hanging on every word. "I told you it was weird! I named them! I thought about who would be youngest, oldest, middle--"
"Three?" He chokes on air. Is he even breathing?
"I designed the little outfit we'd bring each of them home from the hospital in. Their nursery had a theme! Our hamster had a name! I imagined our house, our garden, the layout of the kitchen, the color of our master bathroom!"
"What color?" he asks weakly.
A pause.
"Blue."
"I love blue."
"I know."
Silence descends again, as he attempts to regulate his breathing and bring his swirling, scattered thoughts under control. She hasn't moved a muscle, and neither has he. Honestly, he's thankful to be moored to his steadfast port in the storm right now, so he can't float away or slip under.
"Adrien?"
He hums questioningly in response.
"I'm sorry." Her voice is small and tinged with sadness, slicing directly through his current bubble of overwhelmed euphoria in an instant.
Sitting up so quickly that she's dislodged from his side with a startled squeak, he pulls both of her hands between his and brings her close enough to really see her face in the shadowy moonlight.
"Why are you sorry?" he asks, baffled. "That was..." he trails off, shaking his head as he searches for the correct word, wanting to convey his feelings properly. Incredible doesn't seem like enough. Perfect, perhaps? A dream I didn't know I had until you said it, and now I want that exact thing more than I've ever wanted anything in my life?
"Crazy, I know. Selfish."
"What? No!" he exclaims, and her wide eyes snap to meet his. "Marinette, it sounds amazing!"
"Amazing?"
He lets go of her hands to gather her in a hug instead, happy to feel her arms wrap tightly around him in turn.
"Amazing," he murmurs against her hair, hoping she can hear the sincerity in his voice. "Why do you think it's selfish?"
"Because...because I never thought about what you'd want, not really. Maybe you don't want kids—"
"I want kids," he interrupts.
"Or maybe you don't like hamsters."
"Mari, I love hamsters."
She smiles against his skin. "I'm glad. I thought you'd want a cat."
"Oh, I do," he says, nodding.
"I knew it!" she laughs. "But I didn't know any of that back then. I just dreamed my own wild dreams and brought a fantasy of future you along for the ride. It wasn't fair to you." She leans back, settling her wrists over his shoulders and searching his gaze with her own. "You deserve to have a say in your own life, Adrien. For once."
A wave of stunned gratitude wells up within him and he swallows around the sudden lump in his throat. No one, not even his beloved mother, has ever extended him the courtesy of autonomy, much less apologized for not considering it in the first place. The way Marinette loves him, with a selfless, gentle kindness, is like nothing he's ever known, and it overwhelms him sometimes.
Oh, he loves her so much.
"Marinette," he says, when he's able to. "Do you want to live on a desert island with me and eat only fruit for the rest of our lives?"
She blinks, confused.
"Because that was one of my dreams," he continues. "You—well, Ladybug—me, our hamster, and a ton of fruit. Silly, right?" He shrugs. "I was a lovesick teenager. I have a feeling you know something about that, don't you, Bugaboo?" His cheeky wink and Chat Noir smirk are rewarded with the blush and giggle he'd hoped for. "My point is, I wasn't thinking about what you wanted when I daydreamed about that, and I never worried about it. You have nothing to be sorry for, Bug."
Her smile is bright even in the shadowy loft. "Thanks, Minou. Those were fun dreams."
"Were? You don't want the hamster and the blue bathroom anymore? I was just getting excited about our house and three kids."
"What do you dream about?" She asks, clearly dodging the question with one of her own.
He doesn't even have to think on it to know the answer.
"A family. Hugs. Eating dinner at a little table together. Going to the beach and seeing you in your bikini."
She snorts. "Tomcat."
"I'm only human, Mari."
"Adrien, you can purr."
"Touché."
They can only laugh. Their lives really are ridiculous.
"Princess?" He asks after they've settled into silence again. "What are their names?"
"Who?"
"Our kids."
She takes a deep, deep breath, and it feels like an eternity before she speaks. "Emma, Louis, and Hugo."
"I love them already," he breathes, imagination awhirl with scenes of bedtime stories and blanket forts and the myriad other childhood joys he only knows about from movies and tv. It's so beautiful, they're so beautiful, that he has to clench his teeth for a moment to keep from crying. "Have you drawn them?"
She nods, brow starting to furrow in concern at what must be one hell of an expression on his face.
"And their clothes? The nursery? Our kitchen?"
"Yes, I told you I was—"
"You're amazing, Marinette. I can't wait to see them. I can't wait to meet them."
Before he knows it, she's pulled him into her embrace, whispering her love against his shoulder. If a few tears escape into her hair, she doesn't say a word. They stay like that for a few long, sweet moments, until a thought pops into his mind.
"Mari? Why didn't Plagg find those drawings when he found your sketchbook of wedding ideas?"
She pulls away from him and giggles. "Because that sketchbook is hidden under the mattress."
"Along with how many of my photos?"
The mock-glare she levels at him would be terrifying if she weren't so adorable. He leans in and watches her stern expression slacken just before their lips connect and his eyes close, and her soft sigh tells him he's forgiven once more for teasing her.
They fall back against the cat pillow and soft pink sheets once more, rearranging their bodies to that perfect fit that reminds him every time how phenomenally lucky he is to have found his soul's other half as a teenager via ancient magic and fated proximity. The kiss deepens, his hands clutch at her back, and he thrills at the feel of her fingers in his hair. This is everything, everything—love and light and power and freedom, the chance for a future, a home, a family.
It's just another late autumn Tuesday night in Paris. Marinette will convince him to stay for another hour, he'll set an alarm. They'll go to school again tomorrow and, though it's certainly possible they'll defeat Hawkmoth before the day is over, it's more likely they'll simply fight and cleanse another akuma before returning to the library to work on that history project.
But it's suddenly different. He's always fought for Paris, for the safety of his friends and family, for his beloved partner. Now? A new and different feeling of protectiveness rises in his chest, even as her tongue brushes the seam of his lips and his purr rumbles gently between their bodies.
Hawkmoth will rue the day he tried to take Emma, Louis, and Hugo away before Adrien could meet them. He makes the promise right here and now, with his Lady in his arms and their kwamis sleeping on the desk below: Every akuma from now until he can punch Hawkmoth in the face and rip the misused miraculous from him, Chat Noir will fight for Paris, the world, and that shining dream of the future. He's one half of an unstoppable team. Together, they can, and will, do anything.
He and Marinette have three kids and a hamster to look forward to, after all. And it's going to be amazing.

oOoOoOoOoOo
Volpina smirked and checked her spy bug once more before entering the lift to Gabriel's office. None of the heroes, or Su-Han, seemed to notice the fox anti-heroine. However, unseen by her, Gabriel watched as she disappeared from view.
When Gabriel again paid attention to the heroes, he noticed that Su-Han had approached Emilie's coffin and Ladybug was filling him in.
"We're not sure what happened to her. She overused the Peacock Miraculous while it was broken. Is there anything you can do, Master Su-Han?"
"A broken Miraculous?" said the bald monk, scratching his head. "I don't know if there's a way to save her. It's never happened before." He placed his hands on Emilie's forehead and closed his eyes, starting to chant in a low voice. "She seems to be in an enchanted sleep. How many times did she use the Peacock?"
"One too many," said Gabriel, causing all eyes to turn towards him. "We were desperate to keep you, Adrien."
Su-Han looked around suspiciously. "We shouldn't say the names of the heroes, in case their identity could be in danger."
"It won't," said Gabriel with a sigh. "The intruder you sensed left."
"How do you know that?" asked Ladybug, her earrings beeping out a warning.
"I have eyes, Ladybug, and nothing else to do. Volpina was here; she left moments ago by using the lift to my atelier. I've kept an eye on it since then, but she hasn't come back."
Chat Noir walked to his father and crouched down to look him in the eye. "What do you mean you wanted to keep me, Father?"
Gabriel sighed, but when his gaze met Chat Noir's, a decisive frown furrowed his eyebrows. "Félix isn't your cousin, Adrien. He's your twin brother." His gaze seemed to get lost in his memories, and his expression softened when Chat Noir widened his eyes and gasped. "Emilie couldn't have children, but she always wanted one. We had gotten to the point of thinking of adoption, but Amelie found out to be pregnant with twins. Emilie was happy for her sister, but her sadness slowly deepened and I became really worried for her. Until the night that Adam nearly died in a car accident."
"Uncle Adam? But he only died recently!" interrupted Chat Noir, gaining himself a glare. "Sorry…"
"Amélie was devastated. She started falling deeper into depression. More time passed and Adam wasn't getting out of the coma he had fallen into. So Emilie started researching things that could have helped. We spent months travelling around the world looking for something that could help him. That's how I learned about the Prodigious in Shanghai, and eventually, I found the Grimoire, and the two Miraculous jewels. When Duusu told Emilie about the power of the Miraculous, she went to Amélie and told her that she had a way to give her back Adam, to make him immortal, but in exchange, she wanted one of her twins. Amélie accepted."
"I don't understand. The Peacock doesn't grant immortality." Su-Han furrowed his brows.
"True, it doesn't," admitted Gabriel, "but Emilie's plan was to create a sentimonster that looked like Adam and give him his amokatised object—"
"If the Miraculous was broken, the Sentimonsters wouldn't last long, even if created by an adult," conveyed Su-Han.
Gabriel nodded. "Yes. That's what caused Emilie's illness. In order to keep her promise to Amélie and keep SentiAdam alive, she had to keep creating sentimonsters to replace the ones that malfunctioned and disappeared." He looked down. "She didn't mind doing that though, because Amélie had given consent for Adrien's adoption. But little did we know that by pursuing this path and making her sister happy, she would've ended up sick. And eventually on a deathbed."
Su-Han scratched his head. "How many sentimonsters had she created with the broken Miraculous?" he inquired.
"About five per year for fourteen years," said Gabriel and Su-Han sucked his breath in.
"What about this other lady? How many did she create before the jewel was repaired?"
Gabriel was quiet for a moment. "I think seven, possibly eight. I can't remember precisely, but one of them took a lot of her energy because it was a replica of Ladybug."
"I see," muttered Su-Han. Then, he turned to Ladybug. "Your earrings have already beeped a couple of times. If you want to repair any damage…" His gaze darted significantly towards Nathalie. "...you better use the Miraculous Cure now."
Ladybug nodded and threw her lucky charm in the air, releasing the flock of ladybugs. She was relieved to see that a good group of magical insects blobbed around Nathalie. By the time the magic had finished its job, the older woman was opening her eyes and looking around, almost in a daze.
"Good," muttered Gabriel, his gaze softening as he looked at his assistant. But before he could say anything, or do anything, Ladybug's earrings beeped louder.
"I have only a minute left. I need to detransform and feed my kwami." She moved fast, looking for a place to hide, and had literally just moved out of sight when her transformation fell.
Chat Noir reached Marinette as she grabbed a macaron from her purse to feed Tikki.
"I'm so sorry for your mother, Adrien," said the red kwami in between chewing. Chat Noir looked down, his hand reaching for his nape. "I understand why Gabriel wanted to get our Miraculous to save her, but making the Wish, although for a heartfelt reason, is never the solution."
Chat Noir looked down. "I know, Tikki." He glanced at the coffin and sighed. "I just wish that there was a way."
Tikki patted her paws on his hair, trying to show him her support. "I'm sorry, but there's nothing that can be done. The Miraculous cure can't work on your mother any more. She will never come back."
From his position leaning at the far side of the coffin, Gabriel buried his head into his knees and muffled a sob.
To be Continued… day 26

Author's Note
Okay so… this is my contribution to the sentimonster theory. It still explains why Emilie fell sick, it still explains why Adrien and Félix look the same. Of course I don't know if it's right, but for the purpose of this fic, it will do ^-^
I hope you liked it and will leave me a comment to let me know what you thought of my idea :)
Until tomorrow, bug out!

A Pretty Flower for a Pretty Girl
I’ve stayed up until midnight reading @zoe-oneesama ‘s Scarlet Lady comics a few too many times, so I thought I might as well finally turn my ideas into a fic!
Also, this was too adorable for me not to.
                                                       -🌼-
Life just couldn’t give him one day off? Not one?
Apparently not, or else he wouldn’t have to be fighting a giant glob of cafeteria food and compost that insisted on being called “Lunchion”.
You know, Adrien could appreciate the pun if he weren’t covered in banana peels and eggshells, and–was that a hamburger patty? He pinched his nose and extended the baton towards Lunchion’s weak spot, the plastic tray it used as a shield.
You’d think an akuma wouldn’t use their most important object as a deflector, yeah?
Lunchion made a gargling noise and blasted him with another garbage-truck’s worth of compost.
Scarlet Lady–did he forget to mention her?–screeched and jumped backwards, catching herself with the yo-yo she had finally figured out how to use.
“Disgusting! I’m out of here. Call me when you get the akuma!“ she called back to him, swinging away and disappearing in the direction of the Grand Paris. He groaned and pushed himself off of his knees.
“Shtay Awaysh!“ the blob gurgled. “Give me your Miraculoushes!“
“Not a chance, trash can!“ he yelled, jumping just out of shooting range.
“It’sh Lunshion, idiotsh!“
“Yeah, whatever!“
As much as he wished he didn’t, Adrien needed some help. Without Lucky Charm, which he could normally figure out how to use, he didn’t have too much of a plan.
Wait a second…was that a miraculous box?
And so it was, sitting on the ledge of a building. Holy cannoli, he was actually going to have a competent partner for once!
Just who to give it to? He opened the box, and inside was a small comb, in the shape of a bumblebee.
Oh, wait a second.
Which classmate had the adorable, tinkling laugh? Which classmate had the sweet-as-honey smile? Which classmate had he had a crush on since day one?
Ding, ding, ding, it’s Marinette Dupain-Cheng!
“Um, give me a minute!“ he said, jumping as far as he could away from the akuma and running to the bakery. He landed on Marinette’s balcony, nearly knocking over one of her potted plants.
“Eek!“ he squeaked, catching it just before it hit the wood. The last thing he wanted was to destroy her porch.
“Hello?“ Marinette asked, startling him out of the panicked state. “I-is there a reason Chat Noir is standing on my porch, or am I just that lucky?“
“Oh, uhhhh–“ he fumbled the little box out of his pocket, holding it out to her. “–yeah, I need some help, so…“
“No. Freaking. Way. No way, no way, no way! Awesome!“ she cheered, immediately slapping a hand over her mouth. “Sorry.“
“it’s fine. You just transform and let’s go!“
“…how?“
“Dang it.“
Once Marinette had consulted the kwami–after momentarily freezing–she transformed and they looked at each other, nodded, and jumped on building after building, chasing the glob of garbage as it made its way downtown.
“You know, I’ve always hated just sitting around during akuma attacks!“ she said brightly.
“Is that why you get caught up in every single one of them, then?“
“No! I mean, I don’t want to get caught up in them, but it just happens!“
“Sure thing, Marigold. Sure thing.“
“You’re incorrigible, Chat Noir.“ she joked. He chuckled, halting to a stop and sticking out his arm so Marine–Marigold, sorry, wouldn’t fall off the edge of the building.
She slammed into his arm and fell backwards, and fortunately, he caught her.
But, sine life couldn’t even give him five minutes off, they were in the exact same positions as ballroom dancers. And she was blushing.
Dammit, life!
“I’m sorry!“ he said, letting go as fast as he could. Marigold was still looking down, a hint of blush still spread across her cheeks.
“It’s okay,“ she whispered. “It was nice.“
“O-oh. Let’s keep going, yeah?“ he set off again, his heartbeat pounding in his ears. They arrived where the akuma was about to take the top off of a restaurant, swinging their respective weapons defensively.
“Who’sh the bumblebee, pushycat?“
“That’s Marigold to you, Lunchion!“
“Finally! Shomeone getsh the name right!“
They took down the akuma in a matter of minutes, thanks to a well-timed Venom from Marinette and the smart idea to fake a Cataclysm to get Lunchion in weapon range.
“Ugh, now I’ve got to call Scarlet,“ Adrien groaned. Marinette stuck her tongue out and gave him the thumbs-down. He agreed nonverbally.
Scarlet Lady appeared, swinging in from stage right, and landing neatly on the roof ledge parallel from them.
“Ugh, finally. What took you so long? And who’s this?“
Marinette gave him a look that he interpreted as ‘spite Scar as much as possible’. He nodded.
“Marigold’s my new partner! Scar, this is Marigold! Marigold, Scarlet Lady.“
“Let’s hope she’s a good sidekick for my sidekick, so the battles won’t take as long! They’re just exhausting! And that’s Scarlet Lady to you, you mangy cat.“ Out of the corner of his eye, Adrien could see Marinette mocking Scarlet Lady, exaggerating the stuck-out hip and the way she rolled her eyes whenever she could.
He stifled a laugh.
“Look, Scarlet, there’s Nadja Chamack!“ he said, snapping her out of the stupor she was in. She applied a fresh coat of red lipstick and swung off to the ground, casting Lucky Charm and using the Miraculous Cure simultaneously.
                                                      -🌼-
“That was good,“ Chat Noir whispered. “but we’ve got something more important to attend to.“
He pointed at a little boy, who couldn’t be more than eight or nine, sitting on the ground on the verge of tears. The walked over to him and she wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
“Are you alright?“
“N-no!“
“What happened?“ Chat Noir asked gently, landing on his other side.
“My brother got really sick–because of the cafeteria food–and he’s in the hospital, and I’m really scared he’s not going to be okay!“ Marinette exchanged a worried look with Chat Noir.
“Hey, it’ll be okay! The people at the hospital will help your brother, all right? He’s going to be just fine.“
The little boy sniffled. “Th-thank you, Chat Noir and Bee Lady.” She smiled and patted his arm.
“I’m Marigold, okay? Remember that.“
“I will, Miss Marigold.“
“Good,“ Chat Noir interjected. “But we’ve got to get you back to your family. I’m sure they’re worried about you.“
A lady who they assumed was his mom ran up and hugged hum, telling the little boy it would be all right.
                                                        -🌼-
“And that’s why I’m the true hero! See, even you can–“ Scarlet Lady was saying. Nadja cut her off with a shhh noise.
“Hey, it’ll be okay! The people at the hospital will help your brother, all right? He’s going to be just fine.“ a yellow-and-black striped hero said, comforting a little boy.
The little boy sniffled wetly. “Th-thank you, Chat Noir and Bee Lady.” She grinned and patted his arm.
“I’m Marigold, okay? Remember that.“
“I will, Miss Marigold.“ Nadja chuckled at the little boy.
“Good,“ Chat Noir said. “But we’ve got to get you back to your family. I’m sure they’re worried about you.“
She walked up and tapped Marigold’s shoulder.
“Excuse me, but can I get an interview?“ She looked at Chat Noir hopefully. He nodded and smiled, grabbing Marigold’s hand and pulling her next to him.
The cameras swiveled towards them.
“But first, has anyone met my amazing new partner?“ Nadja could hear Scarlet grinding her teeth loudly behind them, but paid that no attention.
After a few questions and some cooing over the two heroes’ banter, their miraculouses beeped and they both looked very startled.
“Sorry to disappoint, but we’ve got to run!“ Marigold said, yanking Chat Noir’s arm urgently.
“If the lady insists! Next time, Nadja!“
“Um…goodbye!“ she called after them, watching the duo swing off into the sunset.
                                                       -🌼-
They landed in front of the rosebushes of Dupont, each of which was covered in pretty blossoms.
They bumped into each other as they landed, stumbling back, leaving them about an inch apart. He took the time to notice the tiny details of her makeup–the way her eyelashes had the tiniest gold jewels on the tips, the orangey sheen over her lips, and the way the sparkly yellow mask framed her eyes.
“So–um–we’re about to transform back,“ she started.
“You’re right, um, I’m going to need that back?“ he said, pointing at the comb. She pulled it out of her hair and handed it to him, Pollen materializing immediately.
“Sun salutations, Chat Noir!“
“You ready to go back in your box, Pollen?“
“Hmmm…not really. Can I stay with Marigold?“ Chat Noir looked to at Marinette with a surprised expression.
“You can do that?“
“Of course, I can!“ Pollen huffed. “Now give the comb back to Marinette.“ He handed the silver comb back to Marinette, who pocketed it immediately.
They stood there in awkward silence for a inute until Chat Noir’s ring beeped again. he dashed into a bathroom, stuffed a wedge of camembert into Plagg, and ran out of the bathroom, back to where Marinette was conversing with Pollen.
“Out of all the 19 kwamis, I had to get the hippie one? Not that I’m complaining, but…yoga? Now?“
“Don’t complain, mine eats cheese 24/7.“
He shook his head and broke off one buttery yellow rose from the bush.
“A pretty flower for a pretty girl,“ he announced, offering her the rose. “Before I go.“
“Friendship,“ Marinette said softly. Wait, did this mean she only wanted to be friends? Shoot. “The rose, I mean. Yellow roses mean friendship.“
“Oh,“ he said, looking down. Double-shoot.
“Unless it’s thirteen of them, though.“ He looked sideways at the bush before Marinette put her hand on his arm.
“Don’t you dare. Those roses aren’t supposed to be picked, you know.“
“Sorry, Marinette. I–um–is it okay if I call you Goldie?“ Marinette smiled warmly.
“Of course, but only if I can call you kitty.“ Adrien felt a warm, tingly feeling in his chest, rising up until he felt like he could float.
“Yeah! Let’s go, Goldie. We’ve got a fanclub to meet.“
They walked the around the building, over to the class, who immediately burst into applause.
“You were amazing!“ Kim cheered.
“Yeah, I’m changing it from the Ladyblog to the Goldie-Noir Blog!“
“So you heard that, huh?“

Summary: Ladybug shows up to return his lucky charm. Adrien should've put on something other than a towel. (Ladrien identity reveal fic)
Word Count: 2600
XXX
“When you walk away, you don’t hear me say, pleeeeeease, oh baaaaaaaaaby, don’t go!”  he sang over the spray of the shower.  The acoustics in his bathroom made his voice bearable.  He knew his singing wasn’t the greatest, but there was nothing like being able to let lose and caterwaul in the comfort of a warm bubblebath.
“Simple and clean is the waaaaay that you’re making me feeeeeeeeel tonight, it’s hard to let it go—”
“Hey, kid—don’t scream, it’s just me—”
Adrien swallowed his shout as he dove under the bathwater.  Soap went up his nose, and he coughed it back out.
“Plagg!  What did I tell you about barging in while I’m in the shower?”  He hugged his knees and scowled.
The kwami lounged on top of a bubble, his paws crossed behind his head.
“Relax, I’m thousands of years old.  I’ve seen plenty of naked Chat Noirs before.  And keep your voice down.”
“What?  Is there an akuma?  Plagg, claws—!”
Plagg flew up to his face, pressing a tiny paw to his lips.  “Shhh!  You’d be better off with her seeing you naked than suited up!”
Wait.  Her?
“Why didn’t you tell me someone was here?”  he hissed.
Plagg rolled his eyes.  “I was trying to.  Someone was too busy screaming and hiding in a pile of bubbles to listen.”
“Who is it?”
“Oh, no one important.  Just your little lovebug.”  He grinned.
“Ladybug?”
Oops.  He probably shouldn’t have shouted that.
“Oh, uh—I’m sorry!”  Her unmistakable voice filtered through the door.  “I can come back later if this is a bad time!”
“N-no!  It’s never a bad time to see you!”  Even if he did want to just sink into the bathwater and drown at the thought of her hearing his wailing earlier.  “Just give me a second!”
Plagg cackled as Adrien turned off the shower and hastily wrapped a black towel around his waist.
“Oh no,” he groaned, scanning the empty counter.  “I didn’t bring my pajamas in.”  From now on he’d always keep a change of clothes on him, just in case Ladybug ever decided to drop in.
“Eh, it’s not like she’ll complain at seeing you in a towel.”  Plagg shrugged.
Adrien flushed from head to toe.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t like he had much of a choice.  If Ladybug was here, it had to be for something important.
Making sure his towel was tied securely, he cracked open the door.
“Ladybug?”
“A-Adrien!”  She leaped back from his bed.  Had she been… sniffing his pillow?  Ugh, Plagg must have left his Camembert to ferment under there again.  She probably thought he was a disgusting slob.  He could only hope she’d catch a whiff of his freshly-showered scent and change her mind.
“Do you mind passing me my clothes?”  he asked with a nervous grin.
“Oh, er—yes, of course!  Clothes!  That’s what people wear after showering…”
Was she okay?  He couldn’t remember ever seeing her so flustered.
Before he could tell her where his pajamas were, she was rummaging in his dresser...  and then she was pulling out his red-and-black-spotted underwear.
Was drowning in the bathtub still an option?
“Nevermind!”  He stepped out from behind the door.  “I’ll just, uh, wear this towel.  It’s more comfortable anyway.”
She dropped his underwear back in the drawer.  “Er, if you insist!”  She grinned widely.
For a moment they just stood there, staring at each other, while Adrien slowly died inside.  Then he noticed her eyes flicker to something on his shoulder.
“Huh?”  He tried to turn his neck at angle to see whatever it was.  He’d just showered; what could be stuck to him?
“Let me,” Ladybug said, rushing forward to brush off his shoulder.  A red rose petal drifted to the ground.
“Oh, haha, where did that come from?”  He ruffled his wet hair.  There was no way he’d admit that he enjoyed bathing in rosewater.  She’d think he was just a snobby rich boy for sure.
(Even if at least half the reason was so that he could smell nice for her.)
He cleared his throat loudly.  “So, um, what can I do for you?”
“Right!”  She smacked her face, and then she flipped open her yo-yo. “I just noticed that you left this behind at your photoshoot when the akuma attacked today…”
She pulled out a red string of pink, blue, and green beads.
“My lucky charm!”  He nearly dropped his towel in his rush to take the charm.  “Thank you so much, my—Ladybug.  I don’t know how I lost it.  This charm is so special to me.”
He cradled it to his chest in relief.  Though at least part of it was probably silly superstition, he always felt better with the charm on him.
“R-really?”  Her face reddened.  “Why’s that?”
“A really good friend of mine gave it to me.  I always take it to my photoshoots for a bit of extra luck.”  He rubbed the beads between his fingers.  He didn’t have any pockets to put the charm in, so he tied it around his wrist.  “But… how did you know it was mine?”
“Oh!  I must have… ah… seen it fall out of your pocket?”  She ruffled the back of her hair, disheveling her pigtails.
He leaned in closer.  Why did her nervous face look familiar?  His Lady usually seemed so composed.
“Are you lying?”  He grinned, a bit of his Chat slipping out.
“What?  Psh, no.  It’s not like I know you in real life or anything—that would be crazy!  I’m just—I’m a fan of fashion, so I might have been watching your totoshoot glosely before that akuma attacked—”
“Totoshoot?”  His brow furrowed.
“Exactly, the grotoshoot.  So—you’re charming, I mean—you’ve got your charm back, so I should put a shirt on—I mean—YOU should put a shirt on, and pants, and underwater—underwear!  Which I’m not going to touch again, so.  So I’ll—BYE!”
Adrien should’ve cut off her ramble sooner.  But each garbled word out of her mouth felt so familiar. He couldn’t help trying to place it.
“Wait, Marinette!”  He grabbed her wrist before she could unhook her yo-yo.
“What?  Is something else wrong?  Or did I just sound like such an idiot you don’t trust me to protect Paris anymore—”
His heart sped up as he enfolded her spazzing hands in his.  Marinette.  That’s who her frantic stammering had reminded him of.  And she’d responded to his slip without missing a beat.
“Of course not, my—Marinette.  I’ll always trust you.”
Her eyes blew wide beneath her mask.
“Wha… what did you just call me…?”
“Marinette,” he repeated, the name sweet in his mouth.  “You’re Marinette.”
“N-no, of course I’m not!  Marinette’s waaaay too clumsy to be a superhero, psh.”
“You gave her the mouse miraculous.  You obviously didn’t think so.”  He smirked and crossed his arms.  The beads on his charm clinked together in her stunned silence.
“You—what—nobody knows about that!  Nobody except—Chat?”
Oh.  Crap.
“Hehe.  Oops?”
She smacked her forehead again.
“Careful, bugaboo, I wouldn’t want you to hurt your mewtiful face.”  He grinned against the rising panic.  Why did he say that?  Why was his gut instinct to pun in times of emotional crisis?  Ladybug knew his identity!  And from the blue-screening look on her face, she wasn’t thrilled about it.
“Oh yeah, you’re Chat Noir alright.”  She groaned and pressed the heels of her palms to her forehead.  “I can’t believe I’ve been staring at Chat Noir’s chest!”
“You—you were?”  He giggled hysterically.  “Like, staring because it’s a nice chest?  Or because it’s just kind of there and I should really put a shirt on because this is weird, isn’t it—?”
“Adrien, your chest is more than nice.  But it might be a good idea for you to put on a shirt before I drool all over your floor.”
They both locked eyes, equally shocked that she’d said that.
“I—you wouldn’t happen to have a bathtub I could drown in, would you?”  she croaked out.
He laughed.  “Not a chance, bugaboo.”
“Maybe he could kill you with his singing instead,” Plagg said from where he was hovering by the bathroom door.
Adrien and Ladybug both jumped.  Of course Plagg had overheard all of that.  Adrien found himself turning the same color as his Lady’s suit.
“Excuse you, Adrien has a wonderful singing voice,” she said with a pout.
“I—I do?”  He blinked.  “You’re sure you actually heard me?”
Chloé had always made fun of his voice.  His father wouldn’t let him audition for voice acting positions with singing roles.  Even Plagg, who had an… interesting voice himself, could hardly stand Adrien’s singing.
“Of course I did!  I mean, um… what’s the answer that makes me sound the least weird?”
He laughed, shaking so hard the towel almost fell off.  Again.  He tucked the corner of it more securely against his waist.  He should really go ahead and get dressed, but he was afraid Ladybug—Marinette!—would disappear the second he took his eyes off of her.
“I’m the one standing here in a towel, and you think you’re weird?”
At that, she laughed back.  “I’m the one who didn’t let you get dressed!”
“I’m the one who didn’t let you get my clothes because I was too embarrassed about you seeing my Ladybug underwear!”
She collapsed back in his computer chair cackling.  Both of them were redder than her suit by that point.
“Yeah, yeah, you guys are both disgustingly in love.  Unless you’re going to smooch my kid while he’s practically naked, you should let him get dressed.”
“In—love?”  Adrien squeaked out.  “Ladybug?  In love—me?”
“Can dish it but can’t take it, huh?”  She stood and smirked while leaning into his space.
He licked his dry lips.  If Marinette wanted to play that game, he wasn’t going to back down now.
“I can take it,” he said quietly, his lips centimeters from hers.  “As long as it’s you doing the dishing.”
“The only dish I want is a nice dish of camembert,” Plagg complained.  But for now, Adrien ignored him.
“Hmm.  Let’s see about that.”  Her arms wrapped around the back of his neck, leaving tingling trails where her suit brushed bare skin.  He was going to pay for procrastinating getting dressed.  If he was unraveling already, there was no way he could handle whatever else she planned to throw at him.
Her lips brushed his.  It was just the faintest touch, but it set his heart pounding.
“Is this okay?”  She asked quietly, her voice suddenly turning shy.  “I know we always joke together, but if this is too weird, or—”
“Marinette.”  It came out as a rasp.  “If you don’t kiss me right now, I might actually die.”
Her laugh fanned out across his collarbone.  “Well, we can’t have that.”
She kissed him.  Really kissed him, her lips interlocking with his, hands roaming down his bare back, and oh man he was wrong.  He might have died if she didn’t kiss him, but he was definitely going to die now that she did.
He held her tighter, tilting his head to allow her better access.
To think that just minutes ago, he hadn’t known his Lady was Marinette, or that she was in love with him.  And now this.
He finally pulled back, needing to breathe before he melted into a vaguely Adrien-colored puddle.  Another jolt of ecstasy shot through him when Marinette continued to chase his lips.  She pouted when he laughed.
“Looks like I’m not the only one who might die without kisses,” he teased.
“If you’re trying to embarrass me, you’re going to have to work a lot harder than that,” she said even though her face was still bright red.  “You already heard me say totoshoot.  And you saw me sniff your pillow!”
“That’s just today.  Don’t forget the time you kissed me while I was pretending to be a statue.”
Her eyes widened, and she pushed him back.  His chest felt cold where she was no longer pressed to him.
“Too soon?”  He asked, though he couldn’t help grinning.  He should’ve known she was in love with him.  Why else would she have acted like that?
“It will always be too soon.  I vote we pretend that never happened.”
“But Marinette, don’t you want to be molded together in the plaster of destiny?”  He batted his eyes innocently.
She dropped her head into her hands, hiding the adorable blush there.  “That’s it.  I’m leaving.”
“But I thought we were going to be entwined for eternity!”
She looked torn between laughing and punching him.  He would’ve welcomed either.
“It sounds like someone doesn’t want any more kisses.”  She crossed her arms instead, turning her back to him.
“Nooooo, Marinette!  Anything but that!”  He draped himself over her back, arms dangling over her shoulders.  “I hope I didn’t upset you.  I just think hindsight made it hilarious, but I’ll shut up if you really want me to.”
“I don’t think you could shut up if you tried.  But that’s okay.  I love you just the way you are.”  She pressed a kiss to his cheek.
Warmth spread through him from head to toe.  “Really?”
“Yes, really.  You think I’d make out with just any shirtless guy?”
“Hmmm.  I guess you have a point.”  His hands played with the string of her yo-yo around her waist.  “But I wouldn’t complain if you wanted to prove it again.”
She took hold of one of his hands, spinning him so they were face to face again.  “Go put on some clothes so I don’t have to worry about knocking your towel off, and then we’ll see.”
He blushed again.  He’d better get used to that though.  If he got any more kisses from Marinette, the color of her suit would rub off on him permanently.
“I can live with that.”
He dug out his pajamas—including his Ladybug underwear—and darted into the bathroom.
“Are you happy now?”  Plagg asked.  It took a second for Adrien to spot him, snuggled up in one of Adrien’s black hand towels next to the sink. “I sure heard a lot of gross smooching noises back there.  You think I can use this to plug my ears?”
The kwami held up a q-tip and snapped it in half.
Adrien cast a glance back at the door, where he heard Marinette giggling on the other side.
“Could you keep your voice down?”  He hissed.  “And no, don’t do that.  You’ll hurt yourself.”  He took the broken q-tip and tossed it in the trash.
“You better get me some real earplugs if you’re gonna keep this up, then.”
“Done,” Adrien said while pulling his shirt on over his head.  “I’ll do that and get you that special sprucewood cheese if you leave us alone for the next hour.”
“Deal!  Good luck, loverboy!”  Plagg waved.  “I think you’re forgetting something, though.”
“Huh?”  Adrien’s hand was already on the doorknob, but he turned around and saw his pants still lying on the counter.  That would’ve been awkward.  “Thanks, Plagg.  Im kind of surprised you didn’t let me just embarrass myself though.”
“Nah.  You can do that plenty well on your own.”  The kwami grinned.  “I still think she’s lying about your singing voice.  You could scare off akumas with that.”
Adrien stuck out his tongue.  It didn’t matter what Plagg thought.
On the other side of the door, Marinette was waiting.  And no matter how embarrassing he was, she still loved him.

Signs of Ladybug’s crush on Chat Noir - Part 1
I’m going to go about this because I have seen plenty of articles where Adrien’s suppressed feelings for Marinette are shown, but I’ve never seen one for Ladybug and Chat Noir, so I thought, why not remedy that?
Season 2 | Season 3 | Final
Your Resident Ladynoir Trash presents
Exhibit A: Season 1
Of course, I am being realistic here, and no one gets feelings for anyone right off the bat. Especially in Season 1, where Ladybug deeply cared about Chat Noir, but mostly thought of him as a friend.
Oh, but by saying this, aren’t I debunking the entire point of this theory?
Ever heard of growth, my friends? You can’t get to 💛 someone unless you get to know them and Ladybug is no exception.
But still, these moments show without any doubt, just how much Ladybug deeply cares about Chat Noir.
When they first met in Origins, Ladybug was clumsy and flustered in front of Chat Noir, although that wasn’t necessarily because of him, but more due to her own low self confidence.
And yet, when they defeated Stoneheart the first time, Ladybug didn’t even hesitate to acknowledge his share of contribution to the fight.
Tumblr media
“WE did it, partner. Pound it!”
*sniffles* I’m totally not crying.
And yet, we know she was still having reservations about being a superhero. She was so sure she wasn’t up for the task. The first time she showed her insecurities….
She couldn’t even meet Chat Noir’s eyes. Her entire body language here reeks of embarrassment and shame. (And he was totally sweet and kind to her - “Don’t worry, clumsy girl, I’m learning the ropes too!) But even when Chat reassured her, she didn’t dare to look up and meet his eyes. Such a huge contrast from the Ladybug Marinette would grow to become.
The same thing happens again, on a much huger scale in Origins Part 2. And she’s still drowning in self loathing and fear, and she STILL can’t meet his eyes.
Tumblr media
Until, well, this happened.
This wasn’t the first time Chat supported her, but it was the first time she actually listened. And look at how much her mood changes not a second later.
Tumblr media
Not love. Not yet. But the beginning of what would become a secure and strong partnership.
In Stormy Weather, they’re both incredibly snarky towards each other, and Chat Noir manages to get a few of his flirty lines in. But there was one moment which significantly stood out to me.
Ladybug and Chat were stuck in the dark with only one of them being able to 👀 in it, and said ‘one’ was not Ladybug.
Ladybug: I think I can manage to- *nearly gets hit by a 🔥 extinguisher* -follow your lead on this one!
Very small, almost forgettable moment, but it shows how much Ladybug trusts Chat enough to let him take the lead when she is not able to.
When Chat Noir gets framed by Copycat, she doesn’t even hesitate to believe that Chat Noir isn’t at fault.
Marinette: Chat Noir may be a lot of things, but he is no thief.
No doubt, no hesitation. Just trust and righteous anger, which means a LOT, considering that both of them didn’t even know each other well at this point.
When Ladybug reaches the Louvre, she wastes no time in calling Roger out for falsely framing Chat, even before she had any evidence of Chat supposedly committing the crime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Don’t think you’re going to keep him there-”
The bug is pissed. Clearly, any law allowing Chat Noir to be locked up was a law not worth upholding.
Also, note how she is the only one throughout the entire episode who believed in him.
Small one in Pharaoh, but when he saved her from the time bubble, they have a small moment.
Tumblr media
“Thanks for waiting around for me!”
Simple. Harmless.
But why did Ladybug wait so long to remove herself from his arms? Why didn’t she move away immediately if she was apparently so repulsed to even be touched by him? I’m looking at you, salt stans.
Remember how Ladybug’s Lucky Charms always, ALWAYS have something to do with defeating the villain?
There was one exception. Lady Wifi.
Ladybug didn’t use her Lucky Charm to defeat the villain, she used it to save Chat Noir, not even thinking about how she could face the villain without it.
And the way she cradled him in her lap afterwards…
Tumblr media
Remember, this is the same girl who said that she wasn’t Chat Noir’s lovebug not five minutes earlier.
And this is probably one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the show itself. When Timebreaker tried to kill Ladybug and Chat Noir jumped to her rescue instead.
Mind you, I think this was the FIRST time we've heard Marinette or Ladybug sound so scared and furious at the same time. Is it a coincidence that it happened when it had to do with Chat Noir being endangered?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOK AT HER! She looks absolutely terrified for him! The only other time she looked this stricken was when Volpina threatened to throw Adrien off the Eiffel Tower.
Ladybug is just as afraid to lose Chat Noir as she is when it comes to Adrien.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And just as pissed off.
She was still hugging him and holding on to him while Timebreaker was gloating. She didn't let go of him until he started to disappear.
"Go ahead and try!"
Rewatch the scene and you'll hear her voice breaking even through the anger.
A very subtle one in Mr. Pigeon, but Ladybug never got upset or angry with Chat Noir even though his allergies were slowing them down. She knew it was something he couldn't control.
ALRIGHT, MARICHAT TIME!
The scene from Evillustrator was peak comedy, and I could not stop laughing at Marinette's hand gestures.
But what did she do once he left after being an over the top goofball?
She laughed.
Tumblr media
Not in a condescending way, but a "Why is he like this, I just want to laugh at him, hee hee." way. You know, the way you laugh when you're let in on a long lost inside joke. And to Marinette, it was probably the exact same thing.
Maybe, this is how she really feels about Chat's jokes, and since she doesn't have the mask of Ladybug to hide behind, she can finally let it out.
And I know she pushed him away when he held on to her waist, but that is far from her being uncomfortable with him. She fights crime with him on a regular basis, and she has had to touch him pretty regularly to save him, or he's touched HER pretty regularly to save her. She definitely wasn't repulsed by it in those previous moments, so why now?
Remember how serious Marinette is about the secret identity rule? She was already acting like how she would as Ladybug around him, and when Chat pulled her close, he was doing it out of habit from what he does with Ladybug. And Marinette realised that. She realised how much Ladybug -esque she was being with him, and she was immediately on her guard.
Besides, she totally wasn’t against being held by him like this...
Tumblr media
So adios to salt fics that say Marinette pushed away Chat Noir caused she was afraid of sexual harassment. *Eye roll*
She loves to give him his kitty scritches.
Tumblr media
And now for the biggest Ladynoir episode of Season 1. Dark Cupid.
When she finds Chat Noir, she's immediately going into hero mode, informing about the villain. But when Chat Noir shushes her, she goes...quiet. She looks like she's in a small state of shock. She could have talked over him and continued about the villain, but she didn't.
Tumblr media
In fact, it seemed like she forgot about the villain until Chat Noir saves her from Dark Cupid's arrow.
Tell me, isn't this a very curious, shocked, yet mesmerized look?
Tumblr media
Mirroring, I don’t know, this?
Tumblr media
IT IS DEADASS THE EXACT SAME PICTURE-
Also it makes me laugh how QUICKLY Ladybug came to the conclusion that to save Chat Noir from a spell that can only be broken by true love, SHE NEEDED TO KISS HIM! If she didn't exactly have any love for him in her heart, why would she immediately saunter over into trying to give him a kiss of true love?
And when she finally, finally got him, she smiled. No, really. She smiled. It wasn't a relieved expression, it wasn't a disgusted expression, she. was. smiling.
Tumblr media
That is one LOOOOOOONG peck, Ladybug. *Lenny face*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're badass and she knows it.
Tumblr media
He’s amazing and she knows it.
When he hugs her in Animan, she holds out her arms when he glomps her, she doesn’t push him away.
Tumblr media
And she’s welcoming the hug! He’s the one who pulled away, not her. She’s smiling too, because she knows he is feeling the same way she felt during Timebreaker.
Tumblr media
So yeah, Ladybug is okay with Chat Noir touching her because she knows he would never do it with malicious intent. And she actually welcomes it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is she checking out?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two are flirting so hard they forget about the akuma they are supposed to be fighting.
Tumblr media
"Chat Noir and I are a team, if you take me on, you take Chat Noir on too!"
Even if Paris thinks otherwise, Ladybug would never EVER consider Chat a sidekick.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Them: *make eye contact* Me: *dies*
Ah. And here's the most significant one. Yes. I say that about every moment these two have BUT CAN YA BLAME ME?
In Volpina, when Lila appears out of nowhere and 'saves' Paris, naturally Ladybug is suspicious. And that's how she talks about her to Chat Noir. She's suspicious and cautious but she's certainly not hateful.
Atleast, not until Chat Noir starts complimenting her. Ladybug: I could have totally defeated that meteor by myself!
It's not until Chat has something to say about her, that she actually is angry! And these are some of her expressions when Volpina flirts with Chat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the best part is LADYBUG DIDN'T EVEN KNOW VOLPINA WAS LILA! She didn't have the same animosities towards her that had sprung from Lila hanging around Adrien or lying about being best friends with her as Ladybug. If she really doesn't love Chat as she says she does, she has no reason to be jealous at all!
So this was the end of Season 1, Season 2 is coming up soon!

Lady Noir/Marichat/ Adrienette/Adrichat: Serendipity: Fifty Marichat and Adrienette Kisses: Kiss Forty-Nine
Read it on AO3: Serendipity: Fifty Marichat and Adrienette Kisses: ...out of necessity.
“Let’s get this over with quickly,” Ladybug grumbled as she landed beside Chat Noir on the upper gallery overlooking Le Grand Paris’s ballroom where a young man who had been in attendance at the New Year’s Eve party had been akumatized because he was upset that he didn’t have anyone to kiss at midnight and was now terrorizing the other guests, shooting them with beams that, when they hit their target, made them partner up and kiss.
“Someone’s in a crumby mood,” Chat chuckled teasingly, raising an eyebrow at his partner. “What’s up?”
“This akuma attack is interrupting a hot date,” she hissed, scanning the supervillain for clues, trying to ascertain a weakness. The wand with a heart at the tip was an obvious candidate for the akuma’s object.
“Tell me about it,” Chat sighed.
Up until the screams had started, he had been enjoying a lovely evening of flirting with Adrien and Marinette and admiring his girlfriend’s latest design in action. Marinette looked like a movie star in her red evening gown with its halter-style top and myriad straps crisscrossing over her otherwise bare back. The slit up the side was just enough to show off her toned legs while still keeping within the bounds of modesty.
“Are you and your…uh…partners doing anything for New Year’s Eve?” Ladybug inquired politely, if not a tad awkwardly.
Chat nodded. “We were actually at this party, so I’m kind of worried.”
“Marinette and Adrien will be okay,” Ladybug replied encouragingly. “They’re more than capable of taking care of themselves.”
“That’s not really the problem,” Chat muttered ruefully. “They have a bit of a thing about playing hero and getting themselves in trouble.”
Ladybug winced. “Oh. Yeah. I guess that would be problematic. Well, let’s get this taken care of before your people have a chance to do anything altruistic.”
“Sounds good to me,” Chat agreed. “What’s the plan?”
“Lucky Charm!” she called out and got a sprig of mistletoe for her trouble.
She pursed her lips, brow furrowing as she inspected the object intently. “What the heck, Tikki?”
“Maybe if we get closer, you’ll see something you can use it with?” he suggested, not sounding all that sure.
She shrugged, willing to give it a try in the absence of other viable options. “We’ll have to be stealthy, though. Those beams he shoots are kind of wide, so I think they’d be a little challenging to dodge. Best to fly under his radar.”
With a nod of accord, they hopped over the side of the railing when Matchmaker’s back was turned, landing softly before scurrying to hide behind one of the pillars holding up the upstairs gallery.
Ladybug sighed in frustration as she surveyed the open area between them and the akuma. If they attempted a charge, they’d be defenseless with nowhere to take cover.
She could send Chat in first as a decoy and let him possibly take a hit while she snuck up on Matchmaker and grabbed the wand, but…the thought of potentially sacrificing him made her feel sick to her stomach.
“How are we going to get close enough without getting hit?” she muttered to herself, desperately searching for something to use with the mistletoe she’d gotten as her Lucky Charm.
Chat’s eyes fell on the mistletoe, and he came up with a stupid idea that just might work. “What if he thinks we’ve already been hit?”
Her brow knit in confusion as her lips parted to ask what he meant.
“He’d have no reason to hit us again if he thought we’d already been hit,” he clarified excitedly. “Maybe we could trick him into letting his guard down by making him think that we’re defenseless.”
She blinked, eyes still narrowed, not getting it. “How are we going to do that?”
“Trust me,” he entreated, taking her hand and tugging her out into the open.
“Chat Noir!” she hissed, eyes wide in panic.
“Keep your eyes open and keep my body between you and him,” he instructed before crushing his lips to hers.
She gave a jolt, startled and confused for a moment before the familiar feeling of his mouth gently moving against hers gradually calmed her down. Slowly, she began to kiss back.
“Ha!” Matchmaker crowed when he spotted them nearly a minute later. “Even Ladybug and Chat Noir have succumbed to my power! Now everyone will have someone to kiss at midnight and no one will ever have to feel lonely or inadequate ever again!”
Chat had positioned them with his back to the akuma so that even as they kissed, Ladybug had a line of vision on Matchmaker.
She watched as the telltale magenta butterfly outline glowed around Matchmaker’s eyes as Papillon gave instructions to his minion—instructions that Matchmaker seemed not to like.
“But I haven’t found a partner for everyone yet, and midnight is only an hour away!” the akuma whined indignantly.
The butterfly outline pulsed as Papillon retorted.
It occurred to Ladybug that now might be a good time to sneak up on Matchmaker while he was distracted, but the way Chat Noir was teasing her bottom lip between his teeth was very preoccupying.
“Fine,” Matchmaker snorted, his attention returning to the snogging superheroes. “I’ll take their Miraculouses now while they’re defenseless, but you’re not getting them until I make sure that everyone has someone to kiss.”
Matchmaker advanced, and it took a little effort for Ladybug to pry her attention away from Chat’s wickedly delightful mouth. She eventually succeeded, but it was a true test of her willpower.
“Sorry to interrupt,” Matchmaker sighed, “but I need to take your jewelry before Papillon takes away my powers. You can go back to making out once I have your Miraculouses.”
As soon as Matchmaker was within range, Ladybug pulled back, and Chat ducked out of the way so she’d have a clear shot at his wand with her yoyo.
In the blink of an eye, she was snapping the wand in half, purifying the akuma, and tossing her Lucky Charm in the air to activate the magical ladybird swarm.
She turned to her partner for their customary fist bump only to find him blushing and sheepishly rubbing at the back of his neck, avoiding her eyes.
“Sorry,” he muttered, feeling her gaze on him hot like tongues of fire. “I shouldn’t have kissed you like that without your permission, even if it was to defeat an akuma. I wasn’t thinking, and I’m sorry, Ladybug.”
“Hey,” she called softly, reaching out to rest a supportive hand on his shoulder. “It’s okay. It was a good idea, and it worked, so… Don’t worry, Chat Noir. I’ve kissed you before in an akuma emergency, so it’s not like it’s something I wasn’t willing to do. It would have been nice if you’d warned me first, but it’s fine. Seriously. We’re good.”
He tentatively looked up at her then, a hopeful smile waiting in the corners of his lips to come out. “Yeah?”
She nodded, assuring, “Of course. …Um…I mean…so long as you feel like we’re good.” Her face started to burn as she remembered how she’d practically attacked him with her enthusiasm. “I’m sorry I kind of got a little carried away with the kissing,” she chuckled awkwardly, trying not to make things weird. “I know you’re one hundred percent faithful to your partners, so I didn’t get the wrong idea or anything. I hope I didn’t give you the wrong idea. I probably shouldn’t have been so…uh…into it.”
She looked away, unable to meet his gaze any longer as she internally died of embarrassment. She wanted to melt into a puddle and seep into the floor in order to escape this mortifying situation.
“No worries, Buguinette.” Chat gave her shoulder a reassuring pat. “We’re good so long as we both understand that tonight was a one-time deal and don’t let it get in the way of our friendship.”
He held up his fist, offering it to her. “Bien joué?”
Slowly, she looked up, taking in his patient smile.
Suddenly, the embarrassment left her, and she knew she hadn’t ruined their partnership.
“Bien joué,” she confirmed, smiling wide as she tapped her fist against his.
Her earrings gave a telltale beep, bringing them both back into awareness of their surroundings.
“Well. Looks like I need to jet before I turn back into a pumpkin,” she chuckled, fighting a grimace at the fact that her Miraculous still ran on a five-minute timer after all this time. “Have a nice rest of your evening with Marinette and Adrien. Tell them I say hi.”
“Will do.” He grinned as he gave her a salute. “Good luck with your hot date.”
About fifteen minutes later (after giving Plagg and Trixx a quick break to recharge), Adrien and Chat Noir found Marinette leaning on the gallery’s railing, gazing down at the crowd milling on the dancefloor below.
“There you are,” Adrien sighed in relief, running over to his girlfriend and pulling her into a tight hug.
“We were worried, Princess,” Chat informed, letting the doppelgänger have a minute before he cut in to take a turn hugging Marinette. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” she replied tiredly, slumping into his hold. “I found a hiding spot and stayed put until it was all over, so nothing to report on my end. Are you two okay?”
Adrien and Chat both nodded.
“I hid out in the coat check with a guy who was convinced he was the next Jagged Stone,” Adrien invented of his own volition, further cementing Chat’s hypothesis that in creating the Adrien doppelgänger he had accidentally tapped into some dark, eldritch power which allowed a wondering soul trapped on the earthly plane to inhabit the Mirage whenever Chat summoned him into being.
Because there were times when the Mirage did and said things that Chat definitely hadn’t instructed or intended, and sometimes he got the feeling like there was a real person in there and not just a projection of his own consciousness.
…At least he seemed to be a friendly, benign wondering soul with a sharp sense of humor. He just said some bizarre things from time to time, but Chat couldn’t fault him for that.
“Was he the next Jagged Stone?” Marinette giggled, already guessing the answer.
“He most certainly was not,” Adrien laughed. “But he was really funny, so it made for an interesting akuma attack experience.”
And then Adrien turned to Chat Noir, eying him knowingly. “How was your akuma attack experience, Nyan-chan?”
Chat mentally recanted the “benign” part. This was definitely an evil spirit he was dealing with.
“Interesting,” Chat allowed, trying to play it off as totally not a big deal. “I ended up kissing Ladybug.”
Adrien gasped, pretending to be scandalized. “You what?!”
Marinette’s eyes widened, surprised that Chat Noir was so forthcoming about it.
Adrien turned to Marinette, feigning hurt. “Are you hearing this? He’s finally leaving us for a superhero.”
“I’m not leaving you, Bishi,” Chat sighed, shaking his head at the double’s theatrics.
Was he always like this when he was Adrien? Marinette didn’t seem to think that Adrien was acting out of character.
“So you’re just cheating on us, then?” Adrien snorted.
“Adrien, it wasn’t a big deal,” Chat coaxed in an attempt to calm his other self down. “It wasn’t even a real kiss. It was a fake-out make-out.”
Marinette quirked an eyebrow. “A what?”
Chat and Adrien stared at her for a beat and then turned to one another to share a meaningful look.
“We’ll make her watch Danny Phantom later,” Adrien decreed, and Chat nodded resolutely in agreement.
“For her own good,” Chat added solemnly.
“Because we’re good boyfriends,” Adrien assured. “Except for some of us who apparently make out with Ladybug?”
“It was a rouse,” Chat explained, rolling his eyes. “The akuma was making everyone kiss, and the attacks would have been really hard to evade. I kissed her because I thought it would make the akuma lower his guard because he would think he already got us. It worked, and now you two are safe and fewer civilians got forced into making out with people against their will. I’m sorry, but it was a good plan.”
“Minou, it’s okay,” Marinette assured, stepping in and resting a hand on his shoulder. She turned to look at Adrien. “It’s okay.”
Slowly, Adrien began to nod. “I guess…if it was an akum kiss, it doesn’t count.”
Marinette nodded, turning back to Chat Noir. “It’s okay. You don’t have to apologize. You didn’t do anything wrong. Good job keeping Paris safe.”
Chat’s expression softened as a small smile slowly spread across his lips. “Thanks. …But you know I chose you, right?”
Her eyes widened in surprise.
“I chose you, Marinette, because with or without a Miraculous, you’re a true hero and the bravest, most amazing person I know. Never doubt that I’d choose you again and again, given the chance.” His voice lowered as he confessed, “I want to keep choosing you every day for the rest of my life.”
There had been a few minutes earlier as she leaned against the railing and waited for him to find her again after the akuma battle when she had reflected on the kiss between Chat Noir and Ladybug and wondered about his feelings for her.
He’d really been kissing Ladybug just like he kissed Marinette, and she’d wondered what that meant, so hearing his earnest reassurances that she was the one he wanted to spend his life with cleared away her doubts.
She surged forward, catching his lips in a quick kiss, pulling away before anyone could see.
“I believe you,” she assured. “…And I like the sound of a future where we both keep picking one another every day.”
“Yeah?” he chuckled, unable to contain a wide grin.
She nodded, beaming back at him. “Yeah…. Would you want to head back to the bakery? I kind of feel up for snuggling…and maybe watching Danny Phantom?”
She looked back and forth between Chat and Adrien.
“Sounds good,” Chat confirmed easily.
“I’m in,” Adrien agreed, “but, earlier, Chat Noir said that he thought you were amazing with our without a Miraculous. When did Marinette have a Miraculous?”
“I wish I had pictures of Multimouse,” Chat sighed, giving Adrien’s hair a playful tussle. “You would love her. Two words: twin buns.”
Adrien’s jaw dropped, and he whipped his head around to gape at Marinette. “Could you maybe wear your hair like that just for fun sometime?”
Marinette arched an eyebrow, an amused smirk twisting up the corners of her lips. “You have a thing for twin buns?”
Adrien looked away, blushing as he gave a nonchalant shrug and quickly changed the subject, “So, now that two-thirds of our members have kissed Ladybug, I guess we need to update the rules of our polycule to include that we each get one freebie kiss with Ladybug?”
Marinette gave a surprised snort of laughter, taken aback. “No thanks. As the only one who hasn’t kissed or gotten kissed by Ladybug, I don’t think it’s necessary to update the rules for my sake. I’m good.”
“Really?” Chat waggled his eyebrows. “Don’t you want to kiss Ladybug, Marinette?”
“Nope,” she chuckled.
“You’re not even a little tempted?” Adrien teased.
She shook her head, rolling her eyes fondly. “No, I am seriously good. My boys are enough for me.”
“Aww,” Chat cooed.
“That’s sweet,” Adrien completed.
“Come on,” Marinette giggle-snorted. “Let’s head back to my place so we can all three kiss away from prying eyes at midnight. We’ve only got about thirty minutes.”
“She drives a hard bargain,” Chat snickered, turning to lead the way.
Adrien, as Marinette’s official date, held out his arm to her with a smile. “Shall we?”
She nodded. “Let’s.”

Todobug: Fallen lover.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The spotted heroine was out with her team for a regular round of patrol, finding herself just a few meters from the girls to plan the rute alongside Chat Noir. She constantly ignored his attentions, but when he took her hand trying to kiss the back, with her opposite she invoked a lucky charm out of curiosity, winning a small spray bottle with which she sprayed on his feline friend.
──── Bad Kitty! Behave! Behave!
She exclaimed, spraying her partner, watching him contract through the water as if he were a small cat taking a bath, making her laugh mockingly next to the turtle hero who stayed next to them contracting against his stomach to laugh at the blonde’s childish reactions. Lately the heroes have gotten much closer as the meetings get more and more enjoyable, sometimes taking a few breaks to chat or joke with each other.
This was one of those days, being a fairly quiet time to afford that luxury that on rare occasions they could joke around. For today the only ones who were absent were Viperion, Roi Singe, and Pegase, but soon it would be their turn on the night patrol. And while both boys were organizing to cover ground next to Ladybug, it was that both Rena Rouge and Queen Bee looked puzzled at the initial duo of heroes at the same time while Ryuko sitting on a pile of bricks next to them sharpened her sword patiently without much interest.
It wasn't until the beautiful-looking blonde snorted as she touched up her lipstick that when she uttered a word, she broke the ice, paying attention to her reflection in the portable mirror that she carried with her even in battle. And at once her lips took on a little more color, she looked out of the corner of her eye at the heroine in a fox costume, ready to start conversation.
──── And ... Are you sure these two are just friends? Huh, I'm suspecting that the Ladybug's alleged boyfriend scandal is actually fake news of that infamous Alec Cataldi guy.
The blonde wasn't exactly discreet when she looked away from her mirror to turn and look skeptically at the dynamic duo fighting childishly as they calmed down to begin their part of the patrol, both walking away with Carapace jumping from roof to roof.
Instead, the young Japanese woman who calmly held her sword, settled into her seat crossing her legs with a quick movement. For a few thoughtful moments, she rested her gaze indifferently on her mate, while resting both hands on the handle of her sword, glancing sideways at the direction in which her superiors were leaving.
──── Believe it or not, she is in a relationship with Todoroki-san, and we must respect that, Queen Bee. It is not very honorable that you speak of him like this when he is not present to defend himself.
It was her answer said with a little bit of hostility, since clearly the foreigner hated gossip and to people talking cowardly behind them back. She did not know the guy in question well enough to consider him a friend, but he had been cordial in those events in which their parents had coincided.
Of course, it was a shock to learn that he was the mysterious boy Chat Noir was constantly complaining about standing between him and “his lady”. However, she couldn't blame them for their relationship being now seen in the public eye, after how an annoying low morality TV presenter had exposed the couple without their consent, robbing them of the opportunity to reveal their relationship when they were ready. It was so unpleasant, but she remembered with satisfaction how the Ladyblogger reported such an invasion of privacy on her blog, causing so much backlash to the man.
Some karma was dealt after that.
And although her words were almost interrupted by a fox lady in a bright orange suit, far from being annoyed, she continued her own business by returning her attention to the weapon even as she paid attention to the girl who questioned her words.
──── As much as I hate the shit Cataldi pull on them, the guy don't give me good vibes... I mean he's stupidly cold even with her. It seems he doesn't even care that Ladybug is in love with him!
The fox's heroine commented annoyed, while the blonde bee buzzed with excitement, agreeing with the words of her comrade. Neither of them seemed to believe Endeavor's son as the one for Ladybug, the national angel of France.
──── I know damn right the guy is hot, I'm not blind. But he's so... Uninteresting that he loses his charm. I think we all agree that our little bug can easily get someone better, my Adrikins is dying for her and I don't blame him, I don't even know who to be jealous of.
The blonde commented in a playful tone while she fixed some strands of hair ruffled by the wind, and putting on the final touches of the lipstick with her hand mirror, she closed the end at once to cross her arms later. It was obvious that her words were anything but kind, because even when Rena agreed that her heroine should seek someone else, it was equally clear that she did not approve of being so cruel when speaking of the aspiring hero. Chloe, on the other hand, was still taking small steps to be friendlier, but the change was gradual and she didn't avoid releasing hurtful comments on rare occasions.
No one refuted anything, it was not worth it and among the three they ended up leaving finally once their rest ended, ready to resume their patrol, perhaps hopefully catching up with the rest of their teammates.

Todoroki Shoto was just leaving the Le Grand Paris, where he was staying with his family, his father apparently had work pending in Paris and they would be spending the summer outside of Japan.
He keeping silent and walking beside his older brother for as long as their paths coincided, after all he did not plan to follow him any longer; he had his own plans going. He had reserved a table in a restaurant that was close to her girlfriend's home, clearly paying with his old man's credit card with the bonus of bothering him, and of course thanks to his action he ended up earning a tremendous shout from the older one, but that did not matter, he just wanted to pamper his beloved.
──── So.. Have any plans, kid?
Asked the curious albino while chilling at the side of his brother. He and his penpal Luka Couffaine would hang out at the mall and then go to the disco store, it was clear that he wanted to see if the youngest of the family was free to accompany them.
──── I'm going out with my girlfriend once she comes back from patrolling with her team.
He answered calmly, taking out his phone when he felt it vibrate for a few seconds, surely his sister had called him to scold him for what he did with the credit card, but from seeing the angry expression on the older man's face he could say that it was worth it worth the scolding.
──── Ah? So, are you're really dating? I thought you were joking when you told us.
The college student spoke with a little laugh, noticing how his sibling looked at him confused. Suddenly the punk looking teenager gave him a discreet push with his shoulder to shut him up, an action that made him finally react.
And it was not for less, he had really been surprised to hear the albino's words, which shows with his changing facial expression. And while the double quirked teen questioned his words with his typical seriousness, it was remarkable for the man, for his slipt he keeps laughing nervously and even uncomfortably at the heterochromatic stare.
──── And… why did you think that?
──── Hey, chill... I didn't mean it like that, but you guys don't really seem like a couple. You know, you don't show it much. B-But I know you must love her a lot, of course!
Realizing how insensitive his words were, as well as how prejudiced he sounded when saying them, Natsuo ended up hiding behind a certain guitarist who shook his head gently and placed his arm between the two boys in a crude attempt at protection in what they both looked like. Instead of getting angry, the half redhead hung his head in surprise, grimacing seconds later, looking at them this time with a frown, clearly offended and annoyed.
──── Don't take it the wrong way, Shoto. You know that Natsuo can be somewhat naive and reckless, it was not his intention to offend you.
──── See you tomorrow, Couffaine…
Without saying anything else, he turns away into the flower shop, leaving behind the guys with whom he had had a bitter revelation. It was the only thing he said, annoyingly walking away in the opposite direction. Didn't they really seem like a real couple? The young man knew that he was not very expressive with his feelings, but he never thought it would be so bad. He continued his walking now without much encouragement, looking even more serious than usual if that was possible, but he was still determined to prove to himself that Natsuo was wrong. Perhaps if he made an effort to make his night with her girlfriend perfect, he could show his love for her, although it was difficult for him to show his feelings. But that did not mean that he wouldn't do his best to try.
So, he continued walking until he reached the picturesque place, entering and buying a bouquet of flowers, cheering up little by little. He left the place much calmer, even motivated, eager to meet his dear ladybug; but it was not until he heard three female voices talking about him and his lovely girfriend without any hesitation, that without being able to avoid it with strangeness he raised his face to watch the heroines speak from the roof of the building animatedly, being the blonde the loudest among the three.
Little by little he felt worse and worse with each word. Was he such a bad boyfriend? Marinette thought the same as her friends?
Tumblr media
Once the heroines left the Japanese boy sat on one of the benches, leaving his bouquet of flowers beside him, running his hands over his hair. Maybe they were right, maybe he was giving less to the relationship than his girlfriend deserved, maybe he was throwing her into the arms of another guy with his attitude. Suddenly he felt an upset stomach just thinking about it, it wasn't a nice feeling.
At the same time his discomfort was escalating and frustrated, he bent down looking at the bouquet of roses with an unsatisfied gaze, remembering how the cat hero used to give her a flower every day during the time that his relationship with her was a secret to the public. He remembered the jealousy he repressed every time Chat Noir tried to seduce his heroine, every flirtatious and cheesy nickname said in the midst of battles, as even when she rejected him, he was still motivated to win her love.
He recalled the mistrust he had for Luka when he mentioned his feelings for a certain baker's daughter, but he quickly dispelled his insecurities when he knew that Couffaine would never try anything with her. In his words he remembered how the eldest simply said that “her melody had found her own rhapsody,” whatever that meant. It was much worse when he find out about the past feelings his Maribug used to have towards Adrien Agreste, but detesting him made him feel guilty, the boy was also too kind for his own good.
He needed advice, it was not a good sign to be so insecure or jealous. But he was just a confused teenager in his first relationship, they couldn't blame him for his inexperience.

Todoroki Shoto, Memories. A couple days ago.
During finals a certain pigtail lady had sneaked to Japan with the equine kwami’s help, of course, she missed her long-distance boyfriend as much as she knows he missed her too, and surprising her lover from behind she didn’t hesitate into hugging him sideways, laughing and playing with their noses in an soft Eskimo kiss. A couple minutes later, he took her by the waist just to give his girlfriend room to sit on his lap, while both kwamis hovered curiously around the room towards one of the hero magazines.
──── Not that it bothers me for you to come see me, actually I enjoy it, but what are you doing here?
──── I needed a break ... If I hear Lila say how she introduced you to Ladybug again, I will lose my patience, mon trésor.
With a snort the young woman let herself lean on her lover's shoulder, listening to him laugh vaguely with that unmistakable grimace on his lips, without a doubt the double quirk teen was just as entertained of the situation than he should be.
──── She's still into her fantasies? Should I be scared?
──── Not worth it.
In a mocking tone the eldest played with his beloveds’ lips, approaching to touch them tenderly just to move away when his muse deigned to reciprocate. From one moment to the next, he earned her frown, and it was when he saw her pout that he finally let himself be caught, feeling the plump and pink lips against his, sharing the cherry flavor of her usual chapstick.
When closing his eyes in duo with his sun sunshine girl, one of his hands fixed on her cheek tenderly as he passed his thumb over the blush, while in an ephemeral separation to discharge his heavy breath in a second, they again kissed again. Much more shy tan before.
──── Please come tomorrow… If not, who's going to kick my ass in Ultimate Mecha Strike?
Tumblr media
Little could he know that his scattered thoughts made Gabriel Agreste smile with discretion, as he, after sending one of his models to their wardrobe test in the care of their star designers, was that he hung up the call by video-chat once he delegated the activities of the day to Nathalie and went calmly towards the portrait of his beloved Emilie, caressing gracefully the illustration on her lips, in a silent conversation with himself.
He would have another chance to save her.
──── Oh, disappointment and jealousy ~ Powerful feelings from the hand of the lover that will bring my victory ... Simply poetic. Get ready, Ladybug! It will be the person who has your very own heart who will bring your defeat to me. So, fly my little Akuma, and possess Endeavor's son!
Ignorant of what was happening, were his racing heartbeats and his concern about losing the girl he had fallen in love with, without notice he caught the attention of a certain villain who triumphantly prepare one of his akumas to leave outside of his lair as he walked in the direction of his butterfly window ready for send his tiny henchman in search of the tormented teenager boy whose peace was disturbed. Humming, Hawkmoth smiled poisonously, capturing in his hands the tiny being whom he filled with negative energy, and in the end commanding them with his stick for catch his target.
Earlier when news of the heroine's romance leaked, he simply didn't rush into acting. He wasn't an idiot, he knew how dangerous it was to villainize the wrong people at the wrong time, he learned it the hard way with certain failed villains. But now, it was the perfect timing for him.
The akuma fluttered from the sky until found the source of such intense negative feelings, it could feel them for miles, and when the time came it was easier to be able to catch him without being noticed. Without missing the opportunity to melt into the bouquet of roses that the brokean hearted boy held so sadly, linking without opportunity to fight in a forced communication with the most feared villain in Paris at the moment when the butterfly communicator managed to get a surprised sigh out of him.
──── Greetings, Heartstroke. I am your friend, Hawkmoth. I have felt your fear of losing the love of your heroine, as everyone sees you as an obstacle. I promise to give you the power to punish whoever dares to take her away from you, and prove them wrong... But there is something you must do for me in return.
His words were poisonous, said with false concern and artificial charisma, selling to his victim the idea that would solve their problems once and for all, but the minor's doubt internally annoyed the criminal, he hated when his victims became resistant.
──── No, I won't give you her miraculous…
──── Don't be naive, son. Every Ladybug is destined for her Black Cat. Creation and destruction cannot live without the other. I offer you the opportunity to free her from her destiny. And what do you say? Do you accept my offer?
The half albino quickly covered his ears, while biting his trembling lip closed at the same time, he closed his eyes, unable to resist the intense connection with Hawkmoth any longer. But with each spoken word he felt increasingly furious, helpless, more insecure. To Paris, he was just a busybody, someone who kept Ladybug away from her one true love, the one who truly cared about her; as with every threatening mail they insinuated that he should get away and look for someone else, that he should stop confusing Lady luck's feelings. He couldn't handle it anymore, he was only human after all, and naturally he was selfish.
Selfish for wanting a future with her.
──── It will be a pleasure, Hawkmoth.
With a simple scaling flash of light, the bicolor eyed boy’s body was enveloped until it disappeared into a new metamorphosis, a different appearance drifted away from his usual looks.
Goodbye Todoroki Shoto, let's meet Heartstroke.

Sand Boy 2.0 (Ripped Out)
Thanks to @gale-of-the-nomads for this fanfic idea and @papyreads for the support! Knowing you're interested is very motivating and uplifting! Also fuck you, Gale because I have other fanfics to be writing and you inspired me to procrastinate those. (Lol jk thanks dude for your permission!) Hope you enjoy! (Warning: Blood and descriptive injury and lots of angst)
------------------------------
Another day, another akuma, another miraculous ladybug and another pound it. Hawkmoth had been very lacking in creativity. He'd been akumitizing so many of the same people, and giving them the same powers, not altering them or anything. I mean, yeah their powers are based off of the victims emotions and trauma, but Hawky could change the power and still fit in, not to mention you'd think there would be more people in Paris going through some real emotional shit that could really make a powerful akuma. Not that Marinette was complaining of coarse. It all made it so much easier to handle being a superhero and a high school student and a bakers assistant and a fashion designer. A nice nights sleep would be sure to help her out in her duties. It was crazy, really. She had gotten so used to everything, it was always Mr. Pigeon, Lady Wi-fi, Miracle Queen, Volpina, all of them. Though in reality there was one she forgot she hadn't seen in a while. She woke up to a panicked text from her parents. She had it so her phone would chime louder if her parents called her or texted her. She was super lucky she did. If she hadn't, she wouldn't have gotten info of an akuma. *Marinette, are you okay?* After that, her father seemed to spam her. *Please answer, Marinette!* And it went on and on until she assured him she was okay and asked why he was so scared all of a sudden. *We got a call that you had been kidnapped by Hawkmoth! With all of these akumitizations we had to be sure.* She looked to her purse and shook the chain that was looped around the edge of the foot of her bed. She assured him that she was safe and he should go back to sleep, and wished him goodnight before going onto the room to see if she could see anything. On the room, she looked around and saw a familiar mist. Glittery yellow and going into peoples homes. It could only be Sandboy! That poor kid had to have been watching scary movies again. It probably took so long after the first time because he was too scared to do it again, especially after finding himself in the middle of nowhere that very same night. "Tikki, we have an emergency!" She declared in a hushed enough tone that no one else could hear, but still got across the fiery determination she always felt when she was needed. "Tikki, Spots on!" ------------------------------ When she arrived to the fight, Chat was already there. He was trying to slow the boy down, but those wafts of sand moved on their own and avoided Chats baton on every hit. "M'Lady! Glad you could finally join me!" He called, smiling as he used that same metal stick to vault his way over to the spotted heroine. "Last time we beat him because of how dumb my nightmare you was. This time... I'm not entirely sure that we'll have that kind of luck. Nightmares change all the time after all." "And what's your nightmare, Chat?" The lady asked out of pure hope that they could use it to their advantage again. Totally not concern. He smirked, deciding it wasn't important to be serious in such a moment. "Well, not being able to call you my bugaboo, of coarse!" Giving his normal wink. His lady of coarse rolled her eyes. How could she not see that coming? "A nightmare? Then you're living in one, Chat." Despite her harsh-ish words, she didn't sound mad or upset or even slightly annoyed. Maybe a little bad, even. "The sand boy just checked in, now nightmares can begin!" The boy chimed, looking to the two superheroes. Though blue eyes noticed that the villains gaze wasn't directly at them, more like he was looking behind them. With a quick turn, she saw a mother and her baby in a stroller. The mom was shaking and covering her baby as she frantically tried to pull the baby and run, though Sand Boy shot a bullet of sand towards them. What could a lady do other than save a mother in need? She was brave, jumping in front of the line of fire, but she knew it would come at a cost. At first she was worried she wouldn't be able to call onto her lucky charm, but when she noticed her Yo-yo working fine, she seemed confused. "What? But it wasn't working last ti-" Her words cut off. With the simple sound and yet another familiar voice caused the girl to freeze. Luckily the mother was able to run, but Ladybug found herself unable to as she heard a little diddy sang. She could tell it was soft and farther away, yet it sounded like it was playing directly next to her ear at the exact same time. She shook, and she could tell Noir was staring. "A little kitty on a roof," the voice played, "All alone without his lady~" She slowly looked up to a nearby building to see those eyes. Disturbingly blue and icy gaze looking right back. "There you are, M'lady!" He called as he jumped down. "I have to admit, I've been fee-line lonely since you abandoned me in that other time line. You never came back to me and I was left all alone!" She backed away, shaking her head as tears threatened to prick out of her eyes. She needed to look strong! For Chat and Hawkmoth. "I-I'm not-" "Scared of me? Oh but M'lady I think you are. You're so scared that... You might fail me. Fail Paris- the world even. You know that if I find out your identity then you will have to go through the same thing... Over and over and over-" "Stop it!" That same voice interrupted itself, but it was far less cold. "M'lady, what's going on? I thought your worse fear was losing your-" And then before another word was spoke, before anyone could finish a single sentence, Sand Boy shot another pound of sand at the Chat, smirking. "Shit..." He called. He could already feel it. The bracelet on his wrist. His trust in Ladybug represented so clearly on his arm- if anything happened, he knew Ladybug would figure him out. But it was far too late anyways. "Chat!" His lady called from an entirely different direction than she was already visibly seen. Right behind him, in a state much like the Ladybug senti-monster was when he first came to her aide. A peacock flying away as she laid on the ground. "I... I don't feel too good... My Chat Noir-" Both the heroes now occupied, Sand Boy could easily use these nightmares to get those jewels for him. That in itself would be far worse than any nightmare they could even know. The real Ladybug was being backed up and taunted. "Oh Bugaboo, you know if you give me your miraculous we can fix everything! We can get rid of all the negativity in the world and make peace with everyone. We could be happy to together like we were before!" Finally, our spotted heroine was against a brick wall. Her heart was racing and her limbs were trembling. She couldn't fight him- it was her partner. Even if a nightmare, she felt so guilty- like she deserved any heart break that came to her, like she deserved to have harsh words thrown at her, like she deserved this torture of knowing she let everyone down. No, none of it happened. It was all fixed, but it just showed how capable she was of fucking up again. And as Chat Noir bent down to cradle his fake lady in his arms, his own nightmares, the real one felt the rough terrain of brick against her back move as she slide down, silently sobbing as she stared at the twisted grin her akumatized partner shared with her. "M-M'Lady?" Noir cried as fake bug reached up and caressed his cheek. He couldn't lose her- not again. So many times watching her disappear in front of his eyes, he couldn't do it again. And yet, as she faded away in a wisp of dust, still knowing what would happen, he reached down to that piece of metal at his wrist. But it was no longer there. In actuality it was never there to begin with. It was never meant for him, it was meant for Luka. Looking up, he watched Ladybug running to him, she looked panicked and lost. He quickly stood and reached to grab her, but his hand only met air as the limb of the woman slowly disappeared, fingertips to shoulder, then shoulder to chest, and spread through her body like blood pumps through veins. His heart ached as and dropped, every time his lady appeared and died...He felt himself get lost in what to do. He could only stand and watch as they all fell down, screaming to himself as he reached for his bracelet over and over again, knowing what the outcome would be but hoping it wouldn't. And yet through the haze of dust and tears, he saw her. One white clawed hand reaching down, followed by another for the sides of her head as they went in for the earrings. And suddenly, all the others didn't matter. She had been staring at him, whereas he knew her eyes were previously on the other. She saw him reach, she saw him panic and saw him scream the words he was so tired of using. After over twenty-five thousand times, it gets old. But he needed to focus. Right now, there was a bigger problem to solve. "Ladybug!" Noir called. Dashing to the others side, he used his metal baton to flick the white cat to the side, to remove him so he could pick up his lady, support her and help her stay balanced. "Are you alright? I'm so sorry for-" "Not now, Chat! Right now we need to get rid of this nightmare..." She spoke through quivering lips. As expected, the nightmare wasn't wasting time to come back up, strutting to them from the other side of the street. "Tsk tsk tsk, M'Lady. You're still fighting it? Still fighting me? Against the inevitability of your partner finding you out?" She gulped, pigtails bouncing with the force of her throat as it processed her saliva. Chat Noir didn't flinch, instead held himself in front of her, keeping her safe from him. "Whatever you mean by that, leave her alone." "Oh of coarse! You weren't there... Or shall I say it... Wasn't the place and time." He snickered, distracting them from a looming threat getting closer, step by step. A paw out, a small energy ball erupted into existence. "She's not afraid of a little kitty cat. She's afraid of love, and afraid of what it would do to the world as a hero. You see," He continued, not once looking over to give away anything sneaking up behind the two. "I found out who she is. And although she doesn't know how since she doesn't know who you are, she does know that if you find out her secret identity before the right time, you'll destroy the world, kill everyone, explode the moon and make the ocean drown everything. And she's scared, because she knows our love did it. It was all because she fell in love with you." She flinched, looking down at the ground. Because it was true. But... Now she knew something she hadn't before. "Chat Blanc," The heroine called, "Maybe I'm scared of him finding my identity out. Maybe I'm scared for my future, but I'm not longer scared of love. I know who you are now, and I think I know how you came into existence." She took a deep breath, stepping forward away from Noir, watching her steps carefully. Of coarse, she wasn't stupid. "You saved my life so many times, Chat. I never meant to upset you, and I never should have let you find me out, but now I know how to stop it. How to keep you from making my nightmare an irreversible reality." Turning around, the hero looked towards the black cat. She reached up and gently rubbed her friends cheeks with her thumbs. "Adrien. I should have known it was you all along. Brave and smart, funny when you want to be. That one time you solved an akuma attack speaking Chinese and fencing, even having the same allergies. I should have found out sooner." She pulled her face closer and closer to the others, who was nervous. Ladybug... She really was in love with him? She loved him now that she knew he was Chat. She didn't love him for him. "LB, Chat Noir is more 'me' than anyone named Adrien could be." She smiled, shaking her head. "I'm afraid of what my love will cause. Well... I was. But now I don't need to be. I'm in love with you Chat. I was just so scared of what our love would do, like when it destroyed the world in another time line. I wanted to tell you but I've been so terrified." There seemed to be a never ending train of water escaping her eyes as she went on. "Scared that I would hurt you. But now I know how to stop it, how to avoid it." This time, Adrien didn't stop her. He didn't tense or shake or pull away. He held her close, and pulled her closer, until finally their lips- -Didn't meet. Something happened. Something that he couldn't describe. One moment, Ladybug was there leaning up to kiss him, the next moment she was yanked away from him and on the floor as she appeared to transform back. She wasn't unconscious or dead, she was very much awake- though from the looks of her ears she probably wished she were. Her earrings were yanked from her ears and her cries were now pained and nearly screams as blood ran from them. And suddenly, his Ladybug became Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Eyes went wide, he had forgotten all about his own nightmare. Losing the love of his life and forgot that there was still another threat. And right next to his own evilized self was his own image of Ladybug. But now, she had holes where her earrings should have been, and she wore pink pants, a white shirt, black jacket, and no mask. She smirked just as eerily as her partner as they bumped fists, mocking their normal victory 'pound it.' "Of you scatterbrained cat, you really forgot about me? How could you..." She looked away, lost and upset. This version of her had died so many times, she seemed to have a hazy hole through her stomach, as if impaled. "I'm hurt... You never saved me. Not once in over twenty-five thousand times, months of work. All for nothing and proof that you aren't meant for me. We aren't made for each other, and that's what hurts the most." After that and seeing Marinettes sobbing form on the ground as she profusely apologized for not paying enough attention, he lost his normally cool temper. Using his baton he would swing and clash and smack every chance he had to get rid of these monsters. Several minutes of trying and attacking for naught, as he failed each time. He was losing breath, and Marinette needed medical attention. But before he could pick her up, she pushed him away. "My earring, Chat. Get them back- I-I can't use my miraculous ladybug- You have to do it. My ears- I can't put them on- I'll be better when you use them, please." She sobbed. The dark haired girl couldn't bare the pain as her ears rang, irrefutably getting more infected as time went on. Chat trusted her blindly, as he always had. He went over those damn nightmares and gave it his all- his lady needed him and he couldn't help but put everything he had into it. And finally his hard work paid off. He hadn't caught them, but the faded girl had tripped and thrown one of them by Chat. With only one earring, he couldn't transform, but... He did have an idea. It was a very sharp object. And his baton would again, save the day. Using said stick, he extending himself into the air, Sandboy had been caught off guard as Chat jumped towards the pillow and used said sharp object to tear the pillow. He had almost dropped the earring since the material was so tough, but he managed to get a big enough hole that his hands could tear though it the rest of the way, catching the little boy before he fell to the ground. Rushing over to where Marinette was- well the fake one, he found the missing earring and ran back to Marinette. "M'Lady? Can you hold this for me?" He said as he removed his ring and handed it to Mari. "I don't want to accidentally cause the end of the world by bringing them together, you know?" He laughed softly, hoping the happy sound might draw out a smile. And although she tried, her head hurt too bad to smile or laugh. "Silly Kitty, thank you." He smiled and put the earrings on, a small and familiar creature appearing. "Marine-tte..!?" The kwami started as a yelp, but ended in a question, as both the holders were very much unmasked and seeing each other. "A lot happened, okay?" Plagg started, having been able to tell what happened based on Marinettes state. And the fact that his miraculous was still on his wearer so he could see everything that happened. "Don't worry, bud. Just do what you have to." He grinned. He knew what would happen. Adrien stood, not really realizing what exactly would happen. He called on a lucky charm which gave him a paper and pencil. He was a little surprised, but Plagg seemed to know what to do. Taking it, he wrote a little note. The boy was bewildered, but nonetheless let the black creature scribble away. Once it was handed back, with the note torn out, it was tossed in the air, words were spoken and ladybugs appeared out of nowhere. But when faced with it, Adrien couldn't remember what happened. Why was Plagg holding a piece of paper? Why was he in Bug boy form and why was Marinette crying on the ground? "Oh my- what happened?" He panicked and watched as Plagg looked, noticed Marinette there, and handed Adrien the note. Bug Boy didn't have time to read it though, he just picked up the sobbing girl and carried her all the way to the hospital where they quickly took her in. They kept asking about what happened, why was she all beat up and had her ear lobes torn. He answered as truthfully as he could, but he didn't know a lot of answers. So he referred to the note, hoping it would enlighten him. "Dear Chat Noir, I had entrusted Marinette with the Ladybug Miraculous for an emergency on my end that was unavoidable. If I hadn't, it would have given away my identity. I was informed by another kwami I had brought with me that something was wrong and I saw everything that happened. Hawkmoth almost got her earrings but you saved them. She couldn't perform the Miraculous Ladybug with her ears in the shape they were in but you stepped up. I wrote all of this down and had it sent by the horse miraculous to let you know what happened, since I knew that everyone would forget with the power of the miraculous Ladybug. Thank you, Bug Boy again for saving the day. I'm sorry but I will be back soon. In the meantime, have Plagg send me back the earrings. He knows where I am since I rushed back just in time. Please remember to get the black cat miraculous back from Marinettes finger. You had given it to her to protect herself after her earrings were stolen. Love, Ladybug." The hero smiled. He was glad he could be of service. He let the nurses know what happened and took the ring back, then went off home and de-transformed. "Here, Plagg." He said and laid back against his bed. He felt a little... Shaken and he didn't know why. His heart was racing, he was tired and scared. Though he passed it off as being worried for his friend. When the kwami came back, Adrien told him about how he was feeling about what happened. He didn't know what happened, but it still seemed to have some kind of affect on him. And once Marinette woke up from the surgery that had to be performed on her ears, she knew that whatever happened had affected her too. Her ears were fixed but she was told not the wear the earrings for at least six weeks. Six whole weeks of not being allowed to save Paris, and it sucked so much. Luckily, the two kwamis were able to arrange something so the two could switch earrings secretly and not find out about each other, but it was so weird. And she still couldn't help but think about it. How she felt. The night they met in the catacombs under Paris, they were on either side of a turned edge so they couldn't see each other, and gave each other the miraculouses by sliding them across the floor in their boxes. Who knows how Plagg was able to convince Adrien that Ladybugs ears were fine but they needed to trade miraculouses. "Hey Chat?" The lady question. "Yes, M'Lady?" He answered. She felt so much less afraid of her feelings. How they would affect their mission. "I may be a bit late on this, but I just wanted you to know that I'm in love with you." It sounded so much better in her head, blunt sounded like a girl confessing her love to a boy that shared his oreos with her. "I mean-" "I understand." Chat said, putting the earrings on. "And I'm happy you feel the same. If I'm to be honest, I feel more myself as Chat Noir. Though, I guess for a while I'm going to have to be Bug Boy again, huh?" The two laughed. It lasted a few moments, and then it died down. "I'm still in love with you. You're not late, but... How would this whole thing work? We aren't allowed to find out our identities and we can't use our miraculouses for personal use." The sigh Lady Noir let out was dragged out. "I didn't think that far ahead." It was true though. "I guess we don't have any choice but to wait until Hawkmoth is defeated." And suddenly, the blond felt an impending doom fall over him. He knew that they would be fighting Hawkmoth for a long time, as Time tagger had taught them. He felt so hopeless. But he knew it was for the best. A least until he saw a black flutter stop in front of him.

A Moth and His Lady Part Three
Oh dang this is becoming an actual fic and not a short little thing I intended. This chapter is less Felix X Mari and more backstory, Chat Noir reveal, and how Felix joins the heroes.
Also if you want to be added to a tag list just let me know!
Part one
Part two
Part four
Felix stared at Plagg. Plagg stared back.  Felix set his mug on the counter where the Kwamii was currently hunkered over a piece of cheese.  This creature was in his house, sitting like some sort of Goblin, eating the cheese his cousin forgotten to bring upstairs to his room.
“I am dreaming.” Felix stated out loud. “I must have dozed off at my desk. How silly of me.” “Uh, yes. This is a dream. No need to tell Adrien about some silly dream you’re having, right?” “No, not at all.” Felix turned to exit the room. “I guess if this is a dream I can relax a bit and have a glass of wine." "You know how to relax? I mean yes! Good idea! Drink!" "Since I'm grabbing the wine did you want some aged brie that I have? Since this is a dream and all. I keep it hidden since Adrien keeps eating all the good cheese." "I suppose I could be swayed to stay a bit longer." Felix couldn't believe it. Chat Noir's Kwamii was in his house. In the house he shared with Adrien. The Kwamii was Adriens. He didn't want to believe it, but there was no other explanation. He needed answers. He went into the fridge and grabbed his wine and cheese before sitting down at the island with the creature. "So dream creature, I hope it won't offend you but I am a lightweight. I'm not sure if that translates into dreams or not, but I felt like I should warn you." The more he pressed that he wouldn't remember this in the morning the more the Kwamii would feel at ease. Although he doubted the creature was too bright to start with. "Well drink up! Pour a cap full for me too while you're at it!" Three cups of wine later and the creature hadn't said anything. No hints of Adrien. Felix was feeling the wine course through his bloodstream. "I want to see Adrien!" Felix jumped from his stool, intent on seeing his cousin. He knew it was foolish but he wanted this nonsense over with. Alcohol made him impatient and he had waited enough. "But it's late and he's probably sleeping!" "But I'm dreaming so it's not like I'm actually waking him up! I just need to tell him things!" Felix marched up the stairs to Adriens bedroom. The Kwamii flew through the door as Felix turned the knob. "Felix?" Adrien was sitting at his desk, reading another history textbook. The man had taken up history after high school, slowly getting away from the model scene. Felix was proud of him. "Adrien, I have a present for you!" Felix marched over to his cousin, grabbing a chair on his way over so he had a place to sit. "Felix are you drunk?" Adrien asked. "He is drunk and dreaming! He is definitely asleep right now so he will not remember anything!" Plagg yelled out from beside Adrien. "So that's what you were talking about." Adrien sighed. "Okay Felix, what is this present?" Felix rummaged through his pockets, pulling out a single silver ring. The one that matched his. The Graham De Vanily twin rings. "I stole this from your dad the day he got arrested. It was your mom's. I mean, it was hers yeah but it was also our grandmother's. It has been passed down to each Graham De Vanily twin set. Even though we aren't technically brothers I see you as one and you're my twin and I thought you'd also want your mother's ring." Adrien stared at Felix. His cousin might have been smashed with red wine stains on his tie, but that was the kindest thing that had ever come out of his mouth. "Felix," Adrien took the ring. It was his mother's, Felix wasn't lying. "I love you, not like I love Marinette, but I love you." "Felix I'm Chat Noir. I can't keep hiding this from you. I've been a hero since I was fourteen. When you moved in here after your mother died and we became close it began eating at me that I couldn't tell you. You were there for me and I was lying to you and I hated it." Adrien's words broke through the mental dam he had built. He was no longer able to keep it back. "And when my father was revealed to be Hawkmoth I thought I couldn't trust anyone but you were there and I know you won't remember this tomorrow but you mean so much to me." "I'll always be there for you Adrien." Felix put his hand in his cousin's shoulder. "We're family. Superheroes or not." Adrien helped his cousin to his room after that, insisting that if he didn't he'd wake up sick. "Thank you Adrien." "Sweet dreams, Feli."
Felix woke up tired. His body dragged with him wherever he went, and all he wanted to do was sleep. He didn't feel sick, just tired. Adrien tried telling him to go back to bed but Felix just swatted at him. He had things to do. He needed to revamp Master Moths public opinion. He couldn't fight the heroes anymore knowing one of them was his cousin, so he had to change. For good. His goal for becoming a hero was to bring back his family, but Adrien was his family. He wasn't going to risk losing him too. So it was time for Master Moth to work on his PR. "Nooroo, let's go over the skills of the miraculous again." Felix stated from his bed. "Yes master." The purple Kwamii chirped. "I told you, you don't need to call me that." Felix frowned. "Sorry Felix." The being sat on his chest. “It’s okay Nooroo.” He scratched the creatures head. “I’m not Hawkmoth, remember? We’re partners.” Nooroo nuzzled against him. “I know.” “So, let’s think of a game plan. As partners. I can’t have anyone thinking the butterfly miraculous is evil.” Felix sat up. “Let’s see, we have both passive and active powers. In or out of the suit I have heightened empathy, that is good. In suit I have telepathy, which will help immensely. We will be using that somehow. Then we can fly, transform people, and control them to an extent.” He hummed. “All very good things when you’re a villain, so this will be a bit harder than I thought.” “I know you’ll come up with something!” Nooroo cheered. The Kwamii turned to look out the window. “I think your chance will be sooner than you think. I’m sensing a lot of fear.” “A sentimonster?” Felix guessed. “I think so.” "That means Adrien is going." "If he is Chat Noir, then yes." Felix threw his legs over the side of his bed and got up. "Then I have to go, and do what I can to protect that reckless dumbass." "You really care about him, don't you?" "Don't make me sound soft, Nooooo. I'm supposed to be the stoic one." "You're softer than a cinnamon bun, Felix." "We will talk about how wrong you are at a later date. For now, Nooroo, wings rise!" It didn't take him long to get to the monster, which just aggravated him more. He wanted to check up on Marinette first, but the monster was headed directly to the bakery. Ladybug was helping the bakers out, but one was missing. Marinette. He landed beside the bug, looking around for the blue haired girl. "There should be another girl." "Master Moth?" Ladybug couldn't believe her eyes. Her surprise hit him like a proud of bricks. His empathic abilities spiking.  "Let's sum this up quickly so we can get on with our day. I have switched sides. I no longer wish to take your miraculous. I fight alongside you and the chat until we can recover the peacock miraculous." He turned to her. "There is someone missing. A girl. Blue hair, blue eyes." "You know Marinette?" "I'm sure most of Paris knows her. How is that a surprise?" Felix groaned. "Yes I know her." "I already grabbed Marinette and put her somewhere safe. Don't worry." Ladybug seemed ready to yell at him, but the monster roared and brought her attention back to the matter at hand. "You say you want to help?" "I do." "Then be a distraction until Chat gets here." That was how Felix found himself flying around the monster, struggling not to get hit with each swing of its giant arm. The hero's of Paris watched from a rooftop, ladybug with her lucky charm ready and Chat Noir ready to grab Felix if he did anything wrong. "Moth! We won't be able to get close enough to use this until he stops moving!" Ladybug yelled. Felix cursed. He went to ladybug and grabbed her, pulling him into the air with him as he flitted around the beast. "Where on it do you need to go? I'll drop you off, Ms. Bug." "On his right hand." "You're sure about this?" "Positive." He tossed her into the air and dove down, the creatures right hand following him. He crashed to the ground and readies himself to go against the weight of the beast when Chat Noir appeared beside him. His baton ready to keep it from crushing them both. The Monster slammed it's fist down. Felix and Chat Noir kept it from crushing them, but they were struggling. Felix could feel his cane shaking under the weight. "Chat, get out of here. If either of us hand to get crushed I rather it be me." "Neither of us is getting crushed. M'lady would never fail us." The chats staff began to bend. That was Adrien. Adrien was willing to die alongside the villain who was making his life hell for the past few months for what? Honor? No. "You're the hero of Paris, don't be stupid." Felix kicked Chat Noir out of the path of the monsters fist. Chats staff couldn't take bending any farther and flung itself away, leaving Felix with only his cane. Metal, even magical metal, could only do so much. He couldn't let Adrien be crushed with him. His cane wouldn't be able to take much more either. He just hoped Marinette was safe. The Monster gave out a loud cry before crumbling around him. Once the dust cleared he could see Ladybug standing in front of him, hand outstretched for him to take. He took it and got up. "That was very brave." Ladybug said. "And stupid. You could have gotten hurt." Chat Noir nagged. "I stand by my decision. You could have gotten hurt too, and I'm sure everyone in Paris would prefer that I took the hit instead of both of us." Felix smiled at the cat. "Limit the casualties and you have a better chance of success." "That's now how being in a team works." Ladybug frowned. "Shows you how long it's been since I've been in a team." "Why did you want to take our miraculous in the first place?" Ladybug questioned. Felix knew the question was coming. Anyone would want to know. "I'm an orphan and I wanted my family back, but it turns out I have people in this world that I'm not willing to trade." Felix sighed. "My girlfriend and my brother are people irreplaceable. I'm not risking either one of them." "I get wanting your family back." Chat agreed. "But you caused a lot of trouble." "I will make it up if you give me a chance. I would rather be a hero in the eyes of those I care about than a villain."

2 ~ First Meetings Aren’t Normal Part 1
So, I wanted to write about how Marinette and the rest met the girl. I hope you’ll all enjoy it; I was so happy so many people have liked my post. I was debating whether or not I should add my other stories on here. And it was a bit long so it will be split into two or maybe three parts. And if you want to be tagged please say and I will tag.

If Marinette was asked how she met and became friends with the new girl within a day of meeting her, she’d have to think back to the day when she had just finished defeating an Akuma and parted ways with Chat Noir. The battle had been excruciatingly long, and she only had mere seconds before detransforming into an alleyway. It had been in September, the start of the new year for her whole-class who were ‘luckily’ kept in the same group, something about once you get to a certain year you stay in that class.
“That was such a tough battle Tikki. I’m so tired now, I have so much work to do as well. I don’t know how I’m able to carry on like this.”
“I believe you can Marinette, after all, you’re incredibly smart, and I’ll help you all the way” Marinette held her closer to rub cheeks at that moment.
“Of all the people you’re Ladybug?” A voice scoffed.
‘What!?’
Marinette felt her heart stop.
She had one objective, not let anyone uncover her identity.
That objective was compromised.
She turned her head to see an incredibly short old woman with a cane and covered with a black cape. Under the hood, she had many wrinkles and a beauty spot above her right eye, and a slight yet distinctive scar on her cheek with piercing brown eyes.
“I thought Wáng would’ve chosen a much more experienced Warrior” Before Marinette could process what had happened and ask her anything she had gone. When she peeked out it was like she had vanished.
There was only one thing she could think of.
‘I have to go to Master Fū”
***
A million thoughts raced through the girl's mind at once. Tikki had tried to calm her but with no luck.
‘I was discovered as Ladybug, does that mean that my identity really was discovered? Does that mean I’ll have to give up being Ladybug? But I can’t, I still have to find out who Hawkmoth is and- no! That would mean I have to give up Tikki no I can’t I-’ When she finally arrived and swung the door open.
“Master Fū something terrible has happened! My-” She stopped and surveyed the scene around her. It looked like he had been waiting for her to come, lucky charm or not.
But what surprised her more was the fact he had laid out not one, not two, but three teacups on the table.
“This girl doesn’t have the proper training here Wáng. I thought even you had standards?” A gasp was heard, that was the same woman from before behind her.
“Master, it's her, she accidentally saw me detransform. I’m so sorry Master” She held her head down disappointed in herself but before he had time to respond the woman had grabbed the girl with her cane by her neck.
“She’s far too weak without the Miraculous Wáng. When will she begin training properly? I should’ve come sooner if I would’ve known the state Paris was in. Really Wáng, you chose a teen to protect Paris all on her own, my kid would be far better than her” Ok Marinette had enough. She didn’t know who this was but like hell, she could talk to her like this.
However, before she could glare and produce a retort Fū cleared his throat.
“Mrs Franchezca Hernandez. I can assure you than Marinette is more of a capable fighter than you’d think. For the past year, she and Chat Noir have always protected Paris from each Akuma attack that has happened. The Parisians are safe in the Ladybug’s hands.” Master Fū looked so sure of himself, but that didn’t stop the woman from scoffing.
“Whatever you say. But my kid will be joining the city tomorrow” She turned to smirk back at them after opening the door.
“I’m sure she will prove she is a better candidate than this child” She threw her hood back on before exiting the building.
“Master Fū who was that? Why was she here? Why is she even allowed to be here? Wait, is she another Guardian?” Fū sighed, he had a lot of explaining to do.
***
“So… She’s not a Guardian?” They were spending this time reviewing the events of what just happened.
“Yes and no. She had been a previous holder or the Ladybug Miraculous, but she didn’t exactly… Enjoy the experience. She quit after her first battle-” Marinette jumped up.
“What!? But it was her responsibility to protect and be a hero, she just threw that away? How can she be that irresponsible and still come here? And Tikki why didn’t you tell me?” The red Kwami closed her eyes and sighed, she didn’t like keeping secrets from her holder, but Guardians’ words overrode her holders.
“I’m sorry Marinette, but we aren’t allowed to point out previous holders, and… I didn’t like her anyway; I’d rather forget her.” Marinette smiled softly and hugged the Kwami.
“Oh, Tikki I could never stay mad at you”
“However, she still is a capable fighter, you shouldn’t underestimate her Marinette, with or without the Miraculous, she would’ve been perfectly able to win our first battle. She only chose not to use the Miraculous as she already was skilled enough. She didn’t agree with being given powers to fight, she thinks you should train for it and use only self-power.” Marinette looked astonished, was she mad?
“But how could someone without a Miraculous hold their own in a battle, Hawkmoth would wipe the floor with them, it’s too unsafe if they didn’t have a Kwami with them” Surprisingly Fū and Tikki chuckled at her response.
“You’d be surprised Marinette, when you see them in battle your opinion will do a 180°” She didn’t seem convinced but nodded anyway.
“Now I think you’d better get home; your Parents must be worried right?”
“But Master I still have so many questions, is it really alright that she knows my identity? And what about what the Lady said, someone else is coming, is she really going to replace me? Can they really be trusted?”
“You will find the answers on your own, but for now you must attend your home now” She sighed defeated but left. How in the world would she find out the answers?
She knew one thing or another, it didn’t matter how good that girl is.
She was Ladybug, right?
***
A new year, a new start, for some people yes, but for a bluenette now, absolutely not.
Because of the liar at school, she had successfully taken all of her friends and made her the outcast.
When she tried so hard to get them all back, because a little kitty friend told her too, they denied her kindness. Threw it all away.
When they all voted her out of being Class President, as they wanted someone kinder as their Class President, Marinette was done. Marinette exclaimed how she wasn’t going to be fired, but that she quit instead. She had done so much, and she was tired of being treated like dirt.
She didn’t want to set a good example.
Or one of the Marinette’s of the world.
She wanted to be treated like everyone else.
Like a real person.
‘Whatever’ The class thought before electing Lila as the Class President, she already had so many famous connections, they could have the trips of a lifetime.
And then Marinette ended her ‘friendship’ with Adrien.
He had chastised her for being so mean to the class, that she should’ve continued being friendly with them, that she should’ve continued trying to win them over a lot harder than she had. Marinette, angry, said how she had been giving her heart and soul into all of those gifts that she had made. She had spent nights making those handmade gifts and they didn’t care; she had done so much, and they didn’t care.
He was persistent that she apologises so everything could be better, that’s what he believed in.
But she laughed, the last months making her come to a harsh realisation.
Her crush had died out, and not all friends are as loyal as they make them out to be.
They didn’t talk for the rest of the year.
And no one had contacted her over the summer.
It was then that she truly realised that they really didn’t appreciate their friendship, it had taken everything in her to not breakdown and cry herself to sleep.
“I’m so tired of fake friends, I want someone who will truly have my back” Then she slept, but Marinette would smile at this memory, knowing that her wish came true.
***
It was just like any day, she wasn’t late per se, but she was still rushing to get to class, arriving before Mlle Bustier was better than later.
As she was approaching the steps she slipped and fell, her clumsiness really came in at the worst of times.
She prepared for the impact… But it felt softer than she anticipated.
Opening her eyes, she saw grey. It looked soft and felt so… Fluffy?
“How did a pillow get here?”
“That was my doing. Are you ok, you fell so fast I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to catch you in time?” A redhaired girl spoke as she stuck her hand out for her.
Marinette looked at her warily, she wasn’t anyone she membered seeing around the school, was she new or just extremely good at hiding herself?
‘Please don’t tell me the third new persons gonna betray me as well’
She got up by herself anyway, she was still cautious of others, even if she didn’t know them.
The girl rubbed the back of her head, possibly embarrassed by something, while giving a smile.
“Sorry I gotta go, my Aunt’s gonna kill me if she doesn’t see me soon” She turned to walk off but then stopped as if remembering something.
“I just wanted to say I love your bag design, I can tell you spent so much time working on that, good luck MDC” Waving she ran off inside.
‘What was that all about? And MDC? Why call me- Wait that’s my name, how did she know my name!?’ Sadly, those questions wouldn’t be answered till later.
She had entered silently, then again, no one had actually paid attention to her presence so it's not like it mattered.
Slipping to the back was easy, the place where she belonged.
But that would end soon.
When the rest of the class entered that was when Mlle Bustier cleared her throat to gain the classes attention.
“Now I know that you’re all very excited about this new year, there will be even more challenges to be presented and I hope you’ll all do your best”
“But for now, we have a new student joining today and I hope you’ll all make her feel welcome.” There were gasps and excitable whispers, another person to make friends.
‘Another sheep to follow my pack, I wonder how easy it will be to make them wrapped around my finger’ Lila smirked, convoluting all the lies she was about to make.
So, they looked at the door in anticipation.
And waited…
And waited some more.
Confusion was spread around the classroom before Bustier walked outside to tell the newbie that she could walk in.
But no one was there.
“Erm, it seems she may be la-”
A body climbed through the window and landed in front of everyone.
“Hiya everyone! I’m the new kid and I just gotta say-”
Swoosh
She was in front of Lila’s desk, taking her hand in hers.
“I love your jacket; it flatters you so much” Before Lila could respond the new girl moved in front of Adrien and held his hand.
“Your eyes are such a lovely shade of green. And you look super cute for your age” Again, she moved along before giving a comment to everyone.
“I love your hair, brown and red totally suit you.”: Alya
“Your aesthetic just screams cool, chilled and totally relaxed dude. I respect that”: Nino
“Wow I love your drawings, they look so detailed, and you look so cute, like a cinnamon roll”: Nathaniel
“Your hair cries pink but I see Rock ‘N’ Roll in you. Plus, you have roller-skates, awesome”: Alix
“That purple is such a lovely contrast to your black hair, it’s such a gorgeous colour”: Juleka
“You look sooo cute, your eyes are such a deep blue plus pink really suits you Pinkie”: Rose
“Your build shouts athletic, I would love to have a race against you sometime”: Kim
“I heard through an article you were able to produce an AI called Markov? I just gotta say that’s amazing, I would love to see how you managed that.”: Max
“Your hair is so colourful, I’m super jealous of how you’re rocking it”: Mylène
“Aww you look so sweet; I can tell you love each other so much”: Ivan
“Wow, you look absolutely drop-dead gorgeous, your eyes are a beautiful shade of blue you could totally be a model”: Chloé
“Wow, you look so adorable with those cute glasses you have”: Sabrina
“And Mlle you look so pretty, I love your hairstyle”
Wow, she just complimented everyone in the room.
Everyone but Marinette but that didn’t matter to them.
“W-Well that lovely of you erm”
“My name is -” The door slammed open.
“ROSINA SCOATS! I thought I told you we’re to enter together!” In came an old Lady.
Old Lady?
Marinette froze.
‘That’s the Lady from before, so if that’s her, then Rosina must be the new fighter here, so did that mean she knew I’m Ladybug? No no that couldn’t be possible, even if Master Fū knows the Lady she shouldn’t tell anyone else right?’ She hoped positively.
When no one was looking at her Rosina winked at her.
She winked?
‘Oh god, she winked at me. She knows. I’m doooomed’ Marinette groaned as she dropped her head against her desk.
“I’m sorry Auntie I couldn’t help it; I’ve never seen so many new faces before” Her smile seemed to brighten everyone's mood in the class. Except for the one who knew her much longer.
Whack.
The walking stick was residing on the young girl’s head. But her grin never left her face.
“And I’ve told you time and time again not to. Honestly, girl, being in a new place does not give you the right to ignore what I’ve taught you Amoretto” The girl giggled, obviously this was something that had happened often.
However, some people didn’t take kindly to that.
“Hey, you shouldn’t hurt your Niece, she didn’t do anything wrong” Truthfully that comment she gave Lila caught her off guard, so this was a small thank you, after she will have her wrapped her finger.
“Yeah, Lila’s right, she didn’t do mean any harm. Lay off her will ya” The class joined in minus Marinette who was still having her crisis over identities until the old Lady slammed her cane down to the floor.
“Silence. You will cast no judgement for how I raise my Cherub. You will learn to remember that. Do not continue this conversation any further. Now Mlle I suggest you learn to control your class before I settle them straight.”
Whack.
“I will be off, if you need anything you know how to contact me. Now go sit next to that Marinette girl” She turned and left them all still in slight shock.
‘How did she know Marinette’s name?’ They pondered before their minds went back to the girl in the front.
“Please don’t worry about that little scene there, you have no need to fear, it’s just an affectionate tap. Besides I’m strong enough to protect myself” She quickly glided up to sit next to the blue-haired girl.
“Hey, it's cool to see we’re in the same class MDC” She giggled before taking her seat.
“Yeah… Great.”
***
The class had gone slower than what she had imagined it to be. But as soon as the bell rang, she was immediately dragged out before she could ask the girl beside her some questions.
In the dining hall, everyone from her class was crowding around her making her embarrassed. Geez had she been the only new girl there?
“Are you alright? You don’t have to put on a brave face just for us, we can help you.” Everyone seemed to congratulate the brown-haired girl for being so nice and helping out the new girl.
“Honestly, I’m alright, I shouldn’t really run off anyway, she may not look it, but she was only worried about me. And besides, I’ve trained enough for something like her staff to not hurt me. You know what they say *‘dă shì qīn, mà shì ài’. Trust me it doesn’t hurt” She really didn’t want to talk about this apparent abuse she was facing anyway. They blinked at the phrase but carried on. They all introduced themselves and tried to get to know her.
“So how come you’ve moved here? What was your last school like? Do you want us to take you on a tour?” Alya asked the newbie. The reporter instincts growing within her.
“Well, that first question is slightly classified, sorry, I can’t tell you yet. And I’ve never been to a school before, I’ve always been home-schooled because I’ve been travelling the world since I can remember. And I think I’ll manage on my own thanks; I have my map and I’m determined to get everywhere by that” Her smile never wavered. Lila smirked, she totally seemed like an easy target, although it may not be a challenge like Alix and Max, she looked like a likeable person. One that could easily fall into her lies.
“Classified? Does that mean you’re on a Mission of some sorts? -Gasp- Are you here because of the Akuma’s? Are you planning on helping Ladybug and Chat Noir?” So many gasps and questions flew towards her and for the first time, she felt uncomfortable.
“Guys, can’t you see she’s getting uncomfortable? Sorry, they can be a bit excited over Akuma related topics. Especially Alya” The blond stood next to Rosina.
“Hey!” The one in question denied.
“Are you really going to disagree?”
“…No” She pouted.
“You’ve travelled around the world? Same, I hope we can be besties soon, travel bestie” Grinning ear to ear to the redhead.
“Hey, do you think you can teach us some phrases then? That would be so cool if you could” One of them suggested.
“I guess, I am multicultural after all, learning Mandarin was so hard for me, French was a lot easier” The girl remembered the many nights of staying up with books trying to cram everything into her brain before going to bed and other important activities.
“Statistically speaking Mandarin is the hardest language to learn and yet is also the most widely spoken native language in the world,” Max stated pushing up his glasses while Lila giggled.
“Yes, but because my Mother had some connections, she gave me the best Chinese speaking teachers she could find to help me learn the language, not as I needed it as much as they thought I would. They were so impressed **I could learn it in 8 weeks” Lila missing the attention, fibbed to gain it back, not like Rosina minded.
“Oh, really that’s quite impressive”
‘She didn’t even know what I said, and she calls herself multilingual?’
Before she could think anymore Adrien stepped in, he didn’t want the new girl to get bullied if she called Lila out for lying, he didn’t want another case of Marinette.
“Also don’t worry about never being in school before, I was home-schooled too until last year. Trust me you’ll get the hang of it.”
“Ok Adrian”
“Err its Adrien”
“That’s what I said wasn't it? Sorry, I sometimes get names mixed up, I hope you don’t mind?”
“Don’t worry we’ll all help you with your problem, I have a similar one. I suffer from tinnitus after saving Jagged Stone’s cat on a runway, and because of my selfless bravery, I was punished because the sound of an aeroplane engine burst my eardrum.” To the end, she was in tears as her classmates comforted her.
“Right, but I don’t have a hearing condition Layla”
“It’s Lila” She tried to give back a sweet smile but, on the inside, she just wants this girl to fall under her spell already.
“Ok Layla”
This was going to be a looooong day.
***
When Marinette finally got out of Dupont she felt exhausted. Rosina did look nice, but she couldn’t exactly be pleasant to her if she was anything like her Aunt. What was she really like? Was she just putting on an act for everyone else like Lila? Was she really going to try and become Ladybug?
She sighed before walking back to her house, expecting to see her Parents joyful faces as she tells them about their wonderful day.
But that didn’t happen.
“These macarons are lovely Mrs Cheng” A girl stated as she munched down on several macarons at once.
“Oh please, call me Sabine. You are such a lovely girl”
“Really? Thank you very much, I hope you’ll continue thinking of me like that”
“Oh Marinette, we’ve met your new friend, I’m so glad you two are friends so soon after meeting” Rosina turned and looked at her with a slight wave.
She wanted to faint so badly, but she couldn’t.
Because she was Ladybug.
***
I am very into an Inuyasha x MLB crossover right now, but with Marinette and Rosina being treated like a little Sister.
Anyway, I hope you like it, part two will be next. After I will ask which next part you want from either meetings with the rest of the Marinette protection Squad, Chloé and Marinette becoming friends or Piper’s introduction.
Also, if there are some more tags I should write, please say so it can fall into that category.
* dă shì qīn, mà shì ài = Hitting is affection and scolding is love
** I saw that it would take 88 weeks if you practice Mandarin 5 hours a day.

Forgetfully Yours
Here comes another drabble from the fanfic trope mash-up requests, featuring Ladybug and Chat Noir. The prompts are “forgotten first meeting” and “character in peril”. Thanks so much to @27percentonrottentomatoes for the ko-fi donation!
___
He would forget her again.
It was probably a selfish thought to have as Ladybug watched Chat Noir’s body disperse into a cloud of sparkling glitter, but she couldn’t help it. She’d seen him die so many times now, seen him sacrifice himself so many times, and it only made her tired. She knew she could bring him back, but the cost was becoming too high. His memories reset with every Cure that gave him life again. It hadn’t been quite as bad when they were still young and new and his memories reset often, but now they were getting older and she’d fallen in love with a man who forgot who she was in this form every few months.
The akuma’s cackle broke off into a surprised gasp as her necklace rotted away, thanks to Chat Noir’s last act of Cataclysm before his glittery demise.  Ladybug went through the motions of catching the dark butterfly as it pulled away from the destroyed necklace and she released it with a sigh when the cleansing was complete.
They’d made it so far this time. They had inside jokes and favorite places to meet and he knew what she liked on her pizza and they’d almost kissed...
She trudged back to her discarded Lucky Charm, ignoring the distraught victim for the time being, and threw the spotted towel up into the air with a mutter. Magical ladybugs raced around the city and the akuma’s victims popped back into existence, including Chat Noir.
Ladybug took a moment to help the confused woman to her feet and explain that she’d been akumatized. After another citizen came to her side, Ladybug excused herself to go to her partner. He gave her the same confused look she’d seen on his handsome face too many times, but she offered her hand.
“Thanks for your help. You must be Chat Noir.” She watched his brow furrow beneath his mask and then he glanced down his body as he always did, eyes widening slightly before he looked at her again. An easy grin fell into place and it made her heart ache.
“At your service, my Ladybug.” He took her hand and dipped low like he’d done dozens of times during their first meetings. His gaze was playful as his eyes met hers and even though she was exhausted and heartsick, she did her best to smile back at him because despite it all, it felt good to have him by her side.
___
“So I forget every time?”
Sometimes Ladybug explained what happened to Chat Noir; sometimes she didn’t. And then there were times like this one where she didn’t have a choice. Stumbling across old footage of your younger self as a superhero with no memory of it would be confusing for anyone.
She nodded and offered Chat Noir the bag of macarons she’d picked up at her parents’ bakery on the way to meet him. “We’ve met...” She trailed off and mentally added the most recent death to her tally. “Hmm, I believe this last time made number forty-two.”
He choked on the bite he’d just taken and crumbs sprayed out to fall to his lap. “I’ve died forty-two times?!”
Ladybug winced. “At least you have more than the usual nine lives for a cat.”
“I can’t decide if I want to laugh or cry.”
“You can do both, if you want.” She reached over and placed her hand on his. His hand stiffened and she missed the instant reciprocation they’d gotten to before, but it didn’t take long for him to turn his wrist so their fingers could slide together.
“Thanks,” he said quietly. “How long have we been doing this? We looked young in that video.”
Ladybug felt the years sink in. They’d had this conversation more than a few times. “We started when we were fourteen.”
“I’ve been forgetting you since I was fourteen.” His eyes tightened. “I don’t understand...how is this possible? I can remember everything else about my life.”
“I don’t know.” She shrugged helplessly. “For some reason, your death and the Cure bringing you back only affects your memory as far as being Chat Noir is concerned.”
“That sucks.”
“Yeah.”
He worried his bottom lip. “Do you know who I am when I’m not Chat Noir?”
“I do.”
“Ah.”
“You know who I am sometimes too.”
“But not right now.” His claws dug into the top of his thighs. “You don’t ever forget?”
“No.” She knew her answer was too quick, too flat, but she couldn’t help it. She wanted to be past this. She wanted to be back to laughing and cuddling and being best friends. These awkward new beginnings always twisted her stomach into knots. She knew she had to ask him what she asked him every time, and she already knew what his answer would be.
“I can take the ring,” she offered. “You can just be Adrien and then there isn’t anything to forget.”
His black ears dipped low and then he shook his head; he always did.
“No. I’ll just be more careful this time around. I can do this. I want to.”
___
Chat Noir jumped in front of an energy blast meant for her, and Ladybug was shaking as she finished off the akuma on her own.
Thirteen months.
They’d made it thirteen months without him dying. Thirteen months without him forgetting. Thirteen months of him falling just as much in love with her as she was with him.
She couldn’t lose it. She wouldn’t survive this time; she could feel it in her bones.
Ladybug was ruthless as she beat down the akumatized man. She shattered the glass orb of his cane with such force that the shards flew up to shred across the skin of her cheek. She slammed her yoyo into the dark butterfly as it tried to escape and felt anger building up as she released it to the heavens. She was about to begin the Cure when a cough followed by a groan caught her attention.
Chat Noir rolled onto his back and coughed again. “I’m here,” he whispered weakly, his eyes finding hers. “Bugaboo, I’m alive.”
She fell to her knees beside him, tears streaming down her face. She had to release the Cure--and she would-- but she needed this moment. She needed to feel his chest rise under her hand and see the strained smile he gave her.
He was okay.
They were okay.
___
“I think you should marry me.” Chat Noir grinned widely at the surprised expression on his girlfriend’s face.
“Excuse me?”
“Marry me,” he corrected. “Don’t you wanna?”
“You can’t seriously be proposing to me while we’re sitting here stuffing our faces after a patrol,” she replied, dropping what was left of her pretzel back into its paper bag.
“Why not? I’m madly in love with you, my Mariboo.” He wiggled his brow. “And I know you’re madly in love with me.”
She hummed noncommittally but knew she was grinning like an idiot.
“Come on, say you’ll marry me. We’ll go pick out the biggest ring in the city right now.”
“You’re a nutcase, kitty.”
“Marry me, my Lady. Make me the happiest cat in all of Paris.”
The lightness she’d been feeling dropped like a lead balloon. “I can’t.”
His beaming smile wilted. “Why?”
“Because it could happen again.” She hugged herself and felt the soft pretzel she’d just eaten churn in her gut. “I can’t...I don’t know what I would do if I lost this now, and I just think marriage would...” She swallowed against the lump in her throat and shook her head. “I can’t.”
“It’s been two years.”
“I don’t think there’s a time limit.”
He took her hand in his. “We’d still be married as Marinette and Adrien. I wouldn’t forget that. Wouldn’t that be enough?”
She took in a shaking breath and half-turned so she could cup his cheek. “You’ll always be enough for me, but if you forgot as Chat, I’d lose half my life with you. I don’t know how I would cope with that.”
“Please say yes,” he pleaded, eyes glassy and voice soft.
“No,” she replied, voice even softer.
____
The first time Queen Bee appeared during an akuma attack, Ladybug mistook her for one of the bad guys.
“I’m on your team, dummy,” she spat, dodging Ladybug’s yoyo. “Chat Noir sent me.”
And thus began the parade of heroes that showed up to fight by Ladybug’s side. Sometimes she recognized the people behind the masks and sometimes she didn’t, but they’d always been sent by Chat Noir and they always fought as hard as they could. She wanted to object to Master Fu allowing it, but she couldn’t find it in her to actually do.
And after every battle, Chat Noir would be waiting for Ladybug, a diamond ring in his hand.
And she kept saying no.
Until one night, Ladybug went to the spot he was always waiting for her and found Adrien down on one knee with a black ring in his hand. “If this is the one that will get you to say yes, you can have it,” he said. “I think I understand now.”
Her chest tightened with the next breath. “You do?”
He looked past her at the skyline of the city thoughtfully. “I’ve been watching you risk your life over and over again and forced myself to stay out of it because I trusted the help I’d sent you. I guess after a while, I realized this must be how you feel.” He curled his free hand into a fist over his chest. “It’s terrifying watching the person you love get hurt and feel helpless. I can’t imagine what it’s been like to watch me die and come back with no memory, to have to relive that over and over.” He dropped his head. “I’m sorry, Marinette.”
She went down to her knees in front of him and lowered the hand with the ring but kept it held between hers. “Maybe it’s time for a new chapter for both of us.”
“What do you mean?”
“You also proved to me that we aren’t the only ones willing to help. Maybe we can let someone else take the lead for a while.” She smiled sadly. “We deserve a chance at life, don’t we?”
“No more Chat Noir and Ladybug. I’m not sure how to feel.”
“Me neither honestly, but I think I want to give it a shot. Would that be okay?”
“Is it going to be forever?” he asked.
“I’m not sure,” she admitted, “but we can be.”
Adrien’s face brightened with a beautiful smile. “Then that’s enough for me.”

Marinette March Day 8: Goodbyes
Read the fic on AO3: Under My Umbrella
--------
"Time to say your goodbyes, Ladybug!"
"Not quite," Snakebug said grimly, touching the Snake miraculous. She slid it back with a flick of her finger. The world seemed to hesitate before suddenly dissolving around her; the next thing she knew, she was standing side-by-side with Turtle Noir, who was no longer a doughnut on the ground, with the akuma somewhere in front of them. Just as it had been for the past four times she used Second Chance.
“I know, but really, it’s hard to take this akuma seriously when -"
"This looks like a meme, I know," Snakebug snapped, and Turtle Noir blinked at her in surprise. Then he cocked his head and understanding fell across his expression. His shoulders bowed and he straightened up as though a heavy weight were pressing down on him.
"How many times?" he asked gently, and she swallowed hard.
"This is the fifth. I don't know what's wrong! Every damn time, you use Shell-ter and then the akuma comes up from behind us and turns you into a doughnut," she said, torn between frustration and grief. Being turned into a pastry wasn't the worst way she had ever lost her partner, but that didn't make it hurt any less. Someday, she was going to kick Hawkmoth in the backside for every time she'd been forced to mourn Chat Noir.
"Hey, it's okay. Let's think this through. What are we doing wrong? What can we do different? Is it better for us to separate and come in on opposite sides?" he asked, and Snakebug shook her head.
"No, we tried that. It didn't work," she said sourly.
Turtle Noir nodded, as though he'd anticipated that answer, and said, "Have you called for your Lucky Charm yet?"
"Not yet. She gets us each time before I can." Snakebug frowned. "You think I should? But we don't even know where the akuma is yet..." They were screwed if she had to go somewhere to charge Tikki up, and sometimes that happened if either of them called for their powers too early. But on the other hand, maybe her Lucky Charm would be just the thing necessary to turn the tides of the battle.
"It seems logical that it would be either her pencil or her notebook. Maybe the combination of your Lucky Charm and Shell-ter will enable us to get close enough that I can -" He wiggled his fingers at her.
"It's worth a try, I guess. Lucky Charm!" Snakebug threw her yoyo aloft, watching as the familiar red light shot up the string. There was a particularly bright burst of light and then a red, black-spotted wrench fell into her hands.
"A wrench," Turtle Noir said blankly.
Snakebug looked around for inspiration. Her eyes fell upon a nearby fire hydrant, then onto Turtle Noir's shield. Slowly, she smiled. "Okay, I have a plan we haven’t tried before. Give me your shield."
"Okay." He took it off and handed it over.
"I'm going to be the distraction," she declared. "Be ready to go after her, got it?"
Turtle Noir nodded and they separated. Breathing a quiet prayer, Snakebug ran towards the fire hydrant. She fit the wrench around the screw and pulled as hard as she could; with the increased strength gifted to her by the suit, the screw turned easily. Water began to spurt from the hydrant with great force. Snakebug dropped the wrench and swung the shield over the water, gasping as she felt its strength. Her arms shook as she redirected the flow, aiming it in the direction of the akuma. It was with a lot of satisfaction that she heard the akuma scream.
"Damn you, Ladybug!” it shrieked.
"Now!" Snakebug shouted, and saw the black-and-green figure of her partner go sprinting out from the shadows to her left. The akuma couldn't see, as it was blinded by water, and Turtle Noir was on it within seconds, snatching the pencil and paper out of its hand.
"Cataclysm!" he shouted, and both items went up in black smoke. Snakebug breathed a sigh of relief when a purple butterfly fluttered free and began to fly away.
"Oh no you don't," she muttered, casting the shield aside. "I free you from evil!" She swung her yoyo out and caught the butterfly, then pulled her yoyo close and ran her finger across the surface. "Bye bye, little butterfly."
"Wh-what happened?" the very confused waitress asked Turtle Noir as he helped her to her feet. She gave a horrified gasp as she took in the state of the street: the damanged shops, the doughnuts all over the place, the spewing hydrant. Turtle Noir patted her hand.
"Miraculous Ladybug!" Snakebug shouted, throwing the wrench into the air. It exploded into thousands of miniature ladybugs, which swept across the street. The next thing Snakebug knew, they were surrounded by dozens of equally baffled Parisians and the hydrant was back to normal.
"It's okay," Turtle Noir was saying as Snakebug walked over. "You were akumatized, but it's no big deal. Everything is back to normal."
"Rght. I - thank you," the young woman said as Snakebug and Turtle Noir bumped fists.
"You're welcome," Snakebug said with a small smile. "Bug out!" She made her way to the top of the nearest roof. Turtle Noir joined her a few seconds later, and they exchanged relieved looks.
"That was a hard one. Waayz, Plagg, divide!" Turtle Noir said, spreading his hands. Waayz appeared in a flash of green light.
"Sass, Tikki, divide!" Snakebug said, and watched as her spots returned to just plain black. She smiled gratefully at Sass before sliding the bracelet off her wrist; when she got home, she would put the Turtle and Snake miraculouses on and figure out what Sass and Waayz liked to eat. They had both worked hard today and deserved a reward as much as Tikki and Plagg did.
"Here you are, My Lady," Chat said, handing her the Turtle miraculous. Ladybug took it; she wanted to talk to him about the location of the miracle box, but knew that now wasn't the time. She was down to two spots left on her earrings if her counting of the beeps was correct, and Chat had four pads left on his ring. A discussion like that needed to be more than two minutes, as she suspected it would take some time to come up with a reasonable alternative.
"Chat, wait," she said, catching his arm when he would have gone.
Chat frowned at her. "Don't you have to go?"
"Yes, but - I didn't mean it before. What happened with Desperada wasn't your fault. It wasn't Adrien's fault either. It was no one’s fault," Ladybug said, willing him to believe it.
"Really," Chat said, very softly. There was a strange smile on his face when he leaned in towards her. Her breath caught as his lips touched the curve of her cheek, right where her mask lay against her cheekbone. He lingered for a moment, long enough for her to inhale the scent of his cologne, and then he drew away. He bowed his head to her, and then turned away and used his newly restored baton to propel himself off the rooftop.
"... What?" Ladybug whispered to herself, lifting a shaking hand to touch the place where he'd kissed her. He'd kissed her hand before, of course, and she thought he might have even kissed her cheek before, but it had never been like that. Her heart was suddenly hammering, and it had very little to do with the battle they'd just been through. She stood still, there in the rain, staring after him, until her earrings gave the second-to-last beep that meant she only had one more minute until the last of Tikki's strength would give out. Then she cursed and scrambled to get off the roof, landing in an alley mere seconds before her transformation gave out.
"Whew! Those unifications are tiring!" Tikki said, landing in Marinette's hands.
"I'll get you some of the really good cookies," Marinette promised, but she was still distracted and Tikki could tell. Tikki sat up, staring at Marinette with narrowed eyes.
"Did something happen?" she asked.
"No," Marinette lied, and quite unsuccessfully at that judging from Tikki's skeptical expression. Marinette sighed. "I may have implied that the reason Aspik and I failed all those times with Desperada was because Chat wasn't around." She grimaced as she spoke. Chat took Ladybug's health and safety very seriously. For her to imply that Ladybug had died 29,000 times because he hadn't been there -
"Oh, Marinette," Tikki groaned.
"I know, I know. It was awful of me." Marinette hung her head. "I didn't mean for it to come out that way. He was just saying that Adrien was a bad choice to be a miraculous holder, and I was trying to defend Adrien."
There was a small but significant pause before Tikki said, "Ah."
“I didn’t do it because I still like Adrien!” Marinette said hotly, assuming that was what Tikki was thinking. She honestly didn’t know what she was feeling. Going on the date with Adrien had been nice, and there were moments where he’d made her heart flutter. But that kiss from Chat had left her spellbound, and part of her – a very small part – might have wanted more…
And yet, she was supposed to be letting both of them go. So why did it feel as though her feelings for Adrien were the same as ever, while her feelings for Chat Noir were deepening? It just wasn’t fair.
“Of course not,” Tikki said patronizingly.
Marinette sighed. “I’m going to have to bring Chat a lot of apology pastries, aren’t I?”
“That would probably be a good start.”

Kota Chapter 33: Fly on the Wall
Table of Contents | Beginning
CW: mentions of child abuse/implied child abuse
"We need the mouse," Viperion said when Ladybug landed behind him.
He and Chat Noir were watching the akuma from a few rooftops away, through Chat Noir's baton camera.
"It's a small akuma," Chat Noir explained. "Vipe thinks that if we try to fight them at our current sizes, we run the risk of killing them."
Ladybug took a glance through the camera, noticing that it was zoomed in on the akuma.
"You're right," Ladybug said. "I'll grab Souris Rose."
"Maybe not," Viperion said. "What if the akuma comes out shrunk?"
Chat Noir nodded. "You should be the one fighting them, if you think you can wield two for that long."
Ladybug nodded. "I think so. I'll grab the mouse miraculous - you two stay here and keep an eye on the akuma."
"Got it."
"Tikki, Mullo, unite!"
Her new outfit was different than her costume as Multimouse, thankfully. She had a gray leather vest with black spots on the side, black sleeves with a red stripe, black pants, red boots, and gray arm and knee pads. Her hair was still in the two buns she had as Multimouse, but when she glanced in the mirror she noticed it was now a dark gray color with red stripes. Her mask was black with a gray and red outline.
"You look like a rockstar, Ladymouse," Chat Noir noted.
Ladybug grimaced. Her transformation had ripped off a design she had been working on that morning for Jagged Stone.
I'm going to have to start all over on that design.
"Okay, you two stay there and only intervene if something happens to me," Ladybug said.
Taking a running start, Ladybug leaped onto the rooftop.
"Multitude!"
Slowly, she felt herself split into tinier versions.
Her consciousness spread out to her various selves. It wasn't like her body - each self had her own thoughts, but she was aware of every one of her, like a choir of voices. It wasn't like anything else, but Ladybug was instantly used to it.
Her and the akuma were now the same size. Ladybug could clearly make out his outfit - solid black, with a purple butterfly mask and wings made out of paper.
His eyes widened. "I didn't know she could do that!"
"I'm full of tricks," one of the Ladybugs replied.
Half of her had yo-yos, the other half jump ropes. The yo-yo half now had on a red vest and red gloves, and the jump rope half now had pink accents instead of red. That was part of the added powers of combining the mouse miraculous - it separated the different powers between her selves.
The akuma snarled. "Listen, I don't want to fight you. But I have the advantage here. No matter how many little yous there are, I am the one with wings, Ladyb- wait, why don't you have wings?"
"Trust me, I've been asking myself that same question."
"Who designed your suit? Can you file a complaint?"
"I've tried!"
.
When Hawkmoth has akumatized his newest victim - Flyaway - he thought he'd stuck gold.
The kid was a strategic genius. And the pure terror that had been running through him had given Hawkmoth the opportunity to create a powerful akuma - one small enough to sneak and dodge attacks.
He hadn't counted on Ladybug utilizing the mouse miraculous, which did put her on similar footing as Flyaway. He definitely hadn't expected her to start a friendly conversation with him.
There was a reason he preferred angry akumas. The kid's fear meant that he wanted to attract less attention, which was frustratingly not what Hawkmoth wanted him to do. No angry rampages was bad PR for Hawkmoth's villain act.
"Flyaway!" Hawkmoth snapped. "If you want to keep your powers, you'll stop blabbering and get me her miraculouses!"
"Right," Flyaway replied. "Wait - miraculouses? Plural?"
"She's combined the mouse and ladybug miraculouses," Hawkmoth explained. "That's what gave her the extra power."
"Interesting," Flyaway said. "If I get you the ladybug and cat miraculous, can I keep the mouse?"
"Why would you - never mind. If you get me both, you can keep it. If not, I'll need the mouse to help me retrieve the other Miraculous."
"Deal."
.
Well, so much for their conversation.
Ladybug had been shocked at how non-aggressive the akuma, Flyaway, had been. In fact, he had been excellent conversation, and Ladybug had almost been enjoying the talk.
It hadn't all been fun. During that time Ladybug had discovered a few things - Flyaway was strategist, was definitely a feminist, and the akuma had to be in his wings.
Paper wings.
Ladybug had a plan, but she would need Chat Noir's help.
One of her ducked out to the side as the rest of her began the battle. "Chat Noir, I'm going to throw you my lucky charm. I need you to pour it on Flyaway. Viperion, start your second chance."
"Understood," Viperion replied.
"Whatever you say, my lady."
Flyaway was quick, and nearly impossible to hit. He rarely went on the offense, but his few blows had managed to land hard. One of her now had a broken shoulder.
But all Ladybug needed to do now was keep him occupied.
"Lucky charm!"
Ladybug adjusted her throw so the lucky charm - a bottle of water - was sent towards Chat Noir. Flyaway was occupied on the other side of the roof, and didn't even notice her powers being used.
Chat Noir took the long way across the roof, to keep from stepping on a Ladybug.
Viperion called out a warning, keeping Flyaway from knocking one of the Ladybugs off of the roof.
"On my signal, Chat," Ladybug said. She would need to dart away immediately. "Are you ready?"
"Ready."
"Three, two, one, now!"
Chat Noir dumped the water bottle.
All of Ladybug darted immediately, though a good half of her still got wet.
Flyaway had no warning, and was completely soaked. The water tore at his wings, releasing the akuma.
The akuma was also shrunk, so Ladybug was immediately capable of cleansing it.
She grew back to her usual size and joined the rest of the heroes - including Roi Singe, who must have arrived during the battle. She held her fist out for the fist bump.
"Pound i- what?"
"Uhhh, we didn't really do anything?" Chat Noir answered.
"I have no idea what happened," Roi Singe admitted.
Ladybug turned to Viperion, who looked a little queasy.
"Oh, come on! I want a fist bump!"
The three other heroes relented. "Pound it!"
Someone cursed.
Ladybug turned to the akuma victim, who had reverted back to his normal self. She recognized him from school, but she didn't think she'd ever talked to him.
"You okay?" Chat Noir asked, helping him stand up.
The boy's eyes were wide, and he looked scary pale.
"My dad's gonna kill me for getting akumatized," he whispered. Then he cursed again.
Ladybug's stomach dropped.
"He can't blame you," she reasoned. "It's beyond your control."
"He won't care," the boy answered.
"Hey, don't worry about it," Chat Noir said. "No one recorded the fight - he has no way of knowing you were the akuma victim."
"Yeah, just say you were stuck at school for something," Roi Singe added. "No one needs to know."
The boy nodded once. Then again. "Yeah, that'll work."
Ladybug gritted her teeth. Who was this kid's father, that made him so scared?
"How about I take you home," Chat Noir suggested. "Make sure you get there as soon as possible."
"Yes, please."
Ladybug watched as Chat Noir grabbed hold of the kid, warned him to hold on, and vaulted away.
She turned to the other heroes. Viperion looked even more queasy, and Roi Singe had an unreadable expression.
Two things hit Ladybug at once:
Why did her allies seem almost used to the idea of being punished for being akumatized? She was aware that Viperion didn't have a good relationship with his father, and had suspected Chat Noir wasn't close to his father, but this was taking it another step.
But more importantly:
Hawkmoth is going down.
.
Chat Noir dropped the boy off around the corner from his house.
"You're going to be alright?" Chat Noir asked.
The boy forced a fake smile. "Yeah, I guess. Thanks for the help."
"Of course." Chat Noir gave an exaggerated bow.
The boy headed to his home, and Chat Noir took off.
He didn't want to go home. Something about this akuma - and Ladybug's reaction - set him on edge.
And he wasn't the only one who had been on edge after the fight.
Chat Noir detransformed in an alley near the Seine, and headed towards the Liberty.
Luka was on the deck, meditating. Adrien gave a shout from the sidewalk to get his attention, and he invited him on board.
"Did the victim get home okay?" Luka asked, his voice softer than usual.
"Yeah," Adrien said. He took a seat across from Luka. "Are you okay?"
"I will be," Luka said. "That battle was rough."
"You looked a little sick at the end," Adrien noted.
Luka sighed. "Sometimes I wish I had a different miraculous."
Adrien winced, remembering his time as Aspik. That had been rough on him, and he still had nightmares.
"But I'll handle it," Luka said.
"And he'll say something if he can't," Sass added. The kwami was curled up under Luka's knee, not in the shadows but hidden from view from the shore.
"If I'm being honest," Luka said. "That's not the only thing bugging me. When the boy was talking about his father, it reminded me a little of mine."
"Really?"
Adrien didn't know anything about Luka's father, outside of a few rumors that it might be Jagged Stone. He personally had thought he might've disappeared or died, like his own mother, but now that didn't look like the case.
"He... wasn't nice," Luka stated. "If mom was still with him, I can only imagine how he would have taken me and Jules being akumatized. It's not a pleasant reminder."
Adrien didn't know what to say to that.
"I'm sorry," he eventually settled on.
"It's okay. I haven't seen him in years. Now, I can easily see why overreacting about an akumatization is wrong."\
Adrien shifted awkwardly. His own father would react badly to Adrien being akumatized - he was the face of the brand, it would look bad for everyone. He hadn't thought about it much, since he had other reasons not to be akumatized.
Luka raised an eyebrow. "I mean that for your father as well."
"He has his reasons," Adrien defended. "I'm the face of the brand - it would look bad for everyone if I was akumatized. Not that that would happen - as Chat Noir, I have to keep myself from being akumatized anyways."
"He doesn't know that," Luka said. "And plenty of famous people get akumatized. Jagged Stone, Clara Frighteningale, Mayor Bourgeois. It didn't reflect badly on them."
"It doesn't matter anyways," Adrien said. "Like I said - I'm Chat Noir, I can't be akumatized."
"The snake kid's right," Plagg said, from Adrien's shirt pocket. "It isn't okay to judge someone by what someone else does to them."
Adrien opened his mouth to argue, but found he didn't have a response. What he was supposed to say? People are responsible for what other people do? Akumatizations are the victims fault?
"Fine," Adrien said. "You're right. But I still say it doesn't matter."
.
Marinette found the notebook in the bottom most drawer, on the bottom. The list was in the back of the notebook.
How to Beat Hawkmoth Step one: get better. train. make sure CN and I are ready for a one-to-one battle
In the margins was note scribbled in, dated for Heroes Day. Not even close to ready.
That needed to change. Hawkmoth may not leave physical damage, but he was still leaving damage. Marinette was sick of it.
She turned to an empty page in her notebook, and began writing.
How To Improve: Fitness classes? More training Teamwork training
Marinette tapped her pencil against the paper, thinking. What else? Was there research she could do?
"Sleep more," Tikki said.
"Huh?"
"If you're going to take Hawkmoth down, you'll have to be well-rested," Tikki explained. "Sleep more. Take breaks. Eat more often and eat better."
"But I'm so behind-"
"Then prioritize," Tikki said. "But your health comes first."
Marinette wrote it down. Sleep more. She tapped her pencil again, before bringing out her laptop.
She opened Google, and started searching.
how to improve sleep
.
Alya grabbed Lacy by the shoulder when she entered the classroom and pulled her into the front corner.
"Somethings up," Alya explained.
Lacy glanced out at the class, and, yeah, Alya was right. Kim was over-compensating - being louder, bigger, and just more. Adrien was staring at his empty desk, deep in thought. And Marinette looked angry, scribbling and erasing things in her notebook.
"I have no clue," Lacy said. "Something last night must have happened. Where there any akumas?"
Alya hesitated.
"No," she lied.
Okay.
"Come on," Alya said. "We're talking to her about it."
"We? She's your best friend?"
But Alya was already tugging Lacy over to the desk.
"Everything okay, girl?" Alya asked.
Marinette looked at her suspiciously. "Yes. Why?"
"You seem a little angry," Lacy replied.
"Oh, I am."
"At who?" Alya questioned.
