Kaka & Kiki are kinda like Laios & Falin… Kaka being stoic and giving repressed energy like early Laios, Kiki being cryptic and always smiling and kinda soft-looking. Autism siblings 2, ostracized and othered as kids and have a deep bond due to sticking together through it all, though unlike with Laios their parents are very loving so Kaka developed family as a big value more than Laios (bc asides for Falin Laios doesn’t care much about it).

In the gnome festival comic you can see Kaka is more emotive than he seems! Full with a :3 face, and he’s the one crying at the end. He’s insecure about his legs and being tall… It really got to him. Conceal don’t feel. In the gnome festival comic you also see him sensing others’ gaze on him and that something is off unlike Kiki, again Laios-like in the way that judgement from others gets to him more than her.

something that pisses me off in RA is that Flanagan will occasionally hype up Pauline as this super important and prominent figure in Will’s life, even treat her as a proxy for the mother he never knew, and yet will just refuse to show it beyond the like. two or three (personal) conversations that they have in canon. I get that he was attempting to make her an important person in Will’s life but why not do that by actually making her an important person in Will’s life

Okay so hear me out: draco as a spy for the order.

He proves himself to the golden trio in fifth year, for reasons I have yet to explain but will figure out soon enough, and runs to Severus during the summer in between fifth and sixth year before he gets the dark mark. Snape calms him down and they figure out what draco wants to do moving forward and what would be the smartest thing to do while keeping his morals in tact. They figure out the spy solution.

So snape takes draco to the order and is like “he should be a spy” and everyone’s like “no 😠” at first but then dumbledore goes “yes 🤓” and everyone goes “yeah we were joking he can join our club 😁” (I’m being funny not serious. I am also seriously minimizing the amount of time all of this will take and the complexity of all of it, but follow along)

Does all of that make sense? You guys obviously can’t read my mind and have no idea what I’m going to do with the characters yet, but this solves a big plot hole that I was trying to figure out a way through.

basic stuff

-each agency is a clan, not each unit. 14-15 clans would be silly and then we would have some clans with 5 cats and some with 2.

-starpro -> lightclan. i couldn’t call them “starclan” for obvious reasons. light is somewhat synonymous with star, so i’m going with that.

-cospro -> nightclan. i don’t think the cats in warriors know the word “cosmic”, but cosmic implies cosmos implies night sky, so we’re going with night

-rhyth lin -> rippleclan. ripple is sort of a synonym to rhythm….? this one was hard

-new di -> fortuneclan. this one is a stretch but neither “new” or “dimension” have synonyms that really fit a clan name. fortune is something that relates to multiple characters in new di though

-starclan still sort of exists, but the cats do not believe in them the way they do in warriors. they are more of a nursery tale than anything, and select cats (ex: tatsumi) believe in them, but it is not written into their code. medicine cats can still interpret signs, but they do not necessarily think of them as coming from starclan.

-medicine cat forbidden romance is not a thing here

-intermingling of clans is ok and common

-there’s like. other cats in their clans besides just the enstars cast i assume

-tsukasa -> scarletstar (scarletblossom) . he is the leader of fortuneclan because he is one of the new di reps for the summits. both scarlet and blossom were chosen bc of his last name (scarlet is a red color… kinda similar to cherry…. and blossom for the cherry blossom).

-leo -> lionheart. ok this one is kind of cheating because lionheart is already an existing warrior, but…come on….

-izumi -> silverspring. sora describes his color as silver, and spring is in his first name

-ritsu -> frostmoon. his first name means cold moon according to the wiki so i just rehashed it

-naru -> goldenroar. since she doesn’t like her first name i didn’t want to use “storm”, and her last name can be read as “thunder” but that’s a little too close to storm? so golden for her hair and roar for her last name

switch

-natsume -> sageeye. a sage is similar to a wizard, and eye is in his first name . also the “dovesong” mentioned is wataru :)

-tsumugi -> bluewing. he is a bluebird. warrior cats probably wouldn’t straight up call a cat “bluebird” so i put wing there instead. deputy cause he’s the vp

-sora -> skyspring . sora means sky. spring is in his last name. i could have used “stream” instead to differentiate him from sena but i think spring is cuter

one of the best things about like a dragon 7 so far is how much of a loser kasuga is. the yakuza series EXCELS at losers, but it’s had a tendency to treat its yakuza characters as actually cool, which has made them sometimes flat (kiryu in yakuza 4, say) and sometimes violently at odds with the actual narrative (kiryu in yakuza 6). having a yakuza main character who is an enthusiastic dork who won’t shut up about dragon quest and who is textually a smelly dingus with bad hair just gives the game so much more room tonally.

shinada told me so much more about living alongside yakuza culture in one section than half a dozen games of kiryu wrecking face managed. kasuga is a nice mixture of civilian and insider in a way the series hasn’t done before—the closest were tanimura in yakuza 4 and yagami in judgment, but they had unique protections as legal officials. but kasuga is OUT in a way kiryu never was.

YOU’RE RIGHT!!!!!! I NEVER NOTICED THAT THE HORSE SMILES!!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i’ve overanalyzed the hell out of that scene because it is SO CUTE AND SO WELL ANIMATED and i’ve pontificated about “uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh uh uh uh Porky kicking the tape away with his heel conveys a quaint sense of mischief since it’s a gesture that is innately ‘reckless’ and this typically isn’t a default for his character so it enunciates his chipper attitude the inclusion of this song number so seeks to achieve” but not the much more obvious beat where the horse smiles at him after he pats it. (i’m not sure if he does kiss it but i’ve also never understood what that sound effect was for, and it does sound relatively synonymous to one? maybe? THE POINT STILL STANDS)

it’s SOOOOO WELL ANIMATED. i’ve always liked how naturalistic this little beat feels when he looks up at the horse which is the least significant takeaway, but it’s remarkably natural in its movement and honestly feels like a believably subconscious impulse rather than a motivated artistic decision from the animators or motivated gesture on Porky’s behalf.

i unfortunately don't tend to revisit his Porky shorts from this era, but i do think that the Chuck Jones' 1941 Porky cartoons--mainly this one and Porky's Midnight Matinee-- are some of the cutest that Porky has EVER looked, and this scene is a particularly strong argument in support of that

#you’ll also note that in the BG there’s a framed photo of the horse—the blanket even as Porky’s initials on it which is crazy attention to #detail #i still don’t know my Jones unit animators well enough to pin down who this could be animating it but the first name that keeps coming to #mind is Ken Harris since he was incredibly good at doing really subtle stuff like this/often considered the studio’s best animator behind #Bob McKimson (or even tied) #Rudy Larriva is similarly skilled at very meticulous construction but i think his stuff is a bit more slow and careful than what’s here #anonymous #asks
