The fics where Knuckles has some cool powers from the master emerald or is like a very special guy who talks to the master emerald are so good but I've been thinking. What if he isn't. He's the guardian of the master emerald, not a user. Sonic is the one who can use the chaos emeralds and is basically the chosen one when it come to chaos energy, and Knuckles just guards it.

I just imagine Knuckles, who's been put on angel island and basically sacrificed his entire life to this thing and never received any form of acknowledgment, who then meets Sonic who's basically a chaos energy magnet. Chaos emeralds love him, master emerald responds to him. Sonic is there to use the energy, Knuckles is to only guard it

Oh yeah also wanted to share with the Sunflowers that this weekend I’m gonna do one of those invasive plant pulling events in a local park!! Its gonna be my first time going to one and I’m excited (and a lil nervous but yknow). A friend’s also coming with so I don’t gotta be alone, which I appreciate because A: nervous about going alone and B: she doesn’t even like plants or outdoorsy stuff so we have to stan her putting up with my idea of Fun Activity being ‘yanking plants out of the ground’

So I mentioned in this post that I had a short-ish WIP in my 'active development' pile that's angsty, Jamie-centric, and involves a cat. It's set in the nebulous time between Jamie rejoining the team at the end of 2x02 'Lavender' and the Dubai Air protest in 2x03 'Do the Right-est Thing', so Jamie's very much on the outside looking in.

Originally, it was only focused on Jamie having crushing feelings of social isolation, itchy feelings of touch starvation, and a cat. Now it's merged with another WIP from the 'extended mountainous pile' and given Jamie crushing feelings of social isolation, itchy feelings of touch starvation, a poor sense of self worth, terrible self-preservation instincts. And appendicitis. And a cat. (And Dani!)

(Even more characters just keep showing up too. I didn't invite them. They're just. Here.)

So now I'm smashing two different outlines together with all the single-minded enthusiasm of child convinced they've got the right jigsaw pieces. (They do not.) And while this isn't going to be long, it is no longer the short-ish length that I LITERALLY BEGGED IT TO STAY AT.

I LOVE the angst potential of the early-season-2-time-period and I would be remiss to not shout out our beloved @jamietarttsnorthernattitude who already covered it beautifully in 'i'm lost, but i'm hopeful, baby' and is DOING IT AGAIN RIGHT NOW!! (I'm very very excited 🥳)

"Like what?"

"Full of teeth."

"I didn't mean to use my teeth! I was in a hurry to– nnh…"

The closet door opens again. "Excuse me," says a voice, "I do actually need my jacket, just let me–"

Hangers clatter and the door closes again.

"..."

"...that was a... A much better kiss."

"well yeah, I had warning."

"You didn't need to make that noise though."

"I dunno Bug, I, uh, I think the noise sold it."

"It wasn't very realistic. And your arm positions were all wrong."

"Wh– you didn't– I didn't have time to properly… wrap myself around you."

"Wrap yourself around me?"

"Yeah, like—put my arms up here, maybe put my fingers in your hair, though that'd mess your hair up I guess."

"...Put your fingers in my hair."

"Yeah."

"No, I'm… I'm telling you to do it."

"Huh??"

"My hair is, um, supposed to be messed up, right? Since we've been kissing in a closet?"

"I… yeah. Let me, uh… well I'd probably have leaned in like this, and… unh~"

The door opens. "Ope, this closet is taken. There's another one down the hall."

"..."

"..."

"...you, um, you're not bad at kissing. With warning"

"...no. I'm… I'm not. And you. Also."

"Huh."

The silence stretches on. There are no footsteps in the hall.

"I guess we gotta go, don't we."

"Oh. yeah."

The door opens and closes. The two men walk away. The proverbial closet remains full.
