t“I only spew out wise words when need be,” You replied, your shoulders relaxing, “In the road and journey ahead, I’m sure, Merlin’s philosophical ways will slither in.”

Merlin wasn’t a God, so why does everyone seem to use his name in vain?
It was a question you often ask yourself, but then again, whilst you saw Merlin as some mere wizard who was beyond expectation - most, if not all, wizards and witches saw Merlin as a God. And you hated that, because, if what Dumbledore told you that you were to be of some greatness like Merlin. People would consider you as some God. But, you’re not. You’re just you, a half-blooded wizard who was beyond expectation.
So, why do people use his name in vain?
Perhaps it was the easiest one to curse out, whatever it is. Other the spells that had been conjured among the clouds, Merlin’s name was called out frequently as if he was someone to come down and help them - it had become a dawning situation to realise that now when they call Merlin, they call for you.
What a God complex.
You dodge another spell, looking at Sirius who was getting angrier. Bellatrix was fixated on Tonks, and Sirius would bend hell to make sure the only pure of his family continues to live. Sirius racing ahead, whilst your curse under your breath - ever since his near-death at the Battle of Department of Mysteries, Sirius has vowed to kill Bellatrix.
You watched as Ron and Tonks fly into the portkey, Sirius missing it just to get Bellatrix, causing you to follow. You didn’t know how many people were in the skies, and if there was anyone else.
“Sirius!” You called out, “It’s not worth it, not now!”
Sirius looks behind you, your eyes soften, after all to Sirius he had made a promise to Remus. He’d keep you safe for the flight and if anything was to happen to you because he was full of rage he could never forgive himself, he would not be able to look into Remus’ eyes ever again.
Sirius turns around, gripping his broom when he hears Bellatrix cackle, Sirius flies next to you, you look at him inquisitively before flying into the portkey. Landing on your feet as Sirius throws an arm over your shoulder, as you smile at him.
“Thank you for not let me rage,” Sirius mutters to you, you nodded, patting him on the back.
“(Y/n)!” You turn to look forward to see Harry run towards you.
You had noticed that Hermione and Ron returned before you, though you knew that Ron had returned safely. Harry embraces you, silently checking if you had injuries, but you were untouched. You tighten your embrace for a moment before letting go, allowing Harry to embrace his godfather.
You turn to see your dad with your step-mother, you let out a shaky breath as you ran to hug them. Tonks hugging you tighter than you expected, perhaps Remus had worried a little too much in your absence.
“Dad...” You murmured, as you were released from the hug, “Whose blood is that?”
The portkey signal a few more arrivals. Bill and Fleur, Fred and Arthur, and the lonesome Mad-Eye.
“Are we the last to arrive?” Arthur asked, who looked at Remus.
The Weasley had noticed that Bill was fine and so was Ron, but George was nowhere to be seen. They look to Remus, who was partnered with him, to see blood. Arthur stops for a moment as Fred races ahead.
“I’m glad you’re safe, unharmed,” Remus murmurs, he can’t help to feel selfish that you came out alright.
Tonks placed a loving hand on your cheek but goes to check on Sirius, as you looked at your father. You give him a hug again, you take in your stride to give him as much affection as you can because you don’t know the next time you would give him a hug. He holds you close, Molly calling that they have made extra rooms for people to stay and shelter.
As most start to file into the burrow, the night seems to grow older. People getting ready to sleep, you slowly go up the stairs and enter Ron’s room, Ron was fast asleep whilst Harry was still up looking outside.
“You know you should sleep,” You say, knowing Ron sleeps like the dead and will not stir, you yawned. Sitting across Harry, “What’s up?”
“I need to go,” Harry says, looking at you, “I need to find the Horcruxes and the more I sit by...”
“Harry, you’re not even seventeen yet, you still have the trace on you,” You had told him, knees pressed against your chest, “We’ve still got your birthday and the wedding to get through.”
“I know,” Harry nods, “Ron already said, we’ve had this conversation.”
“Then, why are you thinking about it?” You asked, tilting your head ever so slightly, making Harry softly smile.
“You’re Merlin’s descendant, don’t you have something wise to say in moments like these?” Harry teased as you rolled your eyes, scoffing.
“I only spew out wise words when need be,” You replied, your shoulders relaxing, “In the road and journey ahead, I’m sure, Merlin’s philosophical ways will slither in.”
The two of you sat in silence for a bit, looking out the window. Tomorrow you had a busy day in helping the Wesleys prepare for the wedding, and then it would be Harry’s birthday and then the wedding the day after.
“Do you think Sirius knows about us?” Harry finally asked as you laughed.
“Harry, I don’t think my dad knows about us,” You answered, looking at him with a glimmer to your eyes, “We haven’t exactly been too obvious nor have been subtle about it - they just haven’t asked about it.”
You got up and stretched, as Harry looks at you, watching you flop on your bed, your face burying into the pillow. He smiles as you look sleepy, trying to keep your eyes open.
“Go to bed, Harry.”
“I love you.”
You looked at Harry, who gets up to go to bed as well, you smiled softly and closed your eyes.
“I love you too.”
Tumblr media
“Aye, Moony!” Sirius beckons, everyone was helping around to set up for the wedding, getting the gazebo up as Remus turns to look at his best friend, “What’s the deal with our boys then?”
Remus looks at you and Harry, who was playfully pushing and shoving, he looks at Sirius confused, “Sirius, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Harry was laughing, most people try to keep things positive when they hear him laugh. You threw your head back, shaking your head. Looking unamused, Sirius couldn’t help but to see James and Remus in you and Harry. It was Harry’s birthday, just a day before the wedding and Molly had seemed to be stressing.
Harry had received many nice things, but yours was the nicest gift as you had given to him alone. You sat on his bed with a gift in hand, you scratched the back of your head, looking awkward.
“It’s not much, but it’s something,” You say, shrugging your shoulders, “Happy birthday love.”
Harry opens the box to see two things, a bracelet and a moving picture. The moving picture had James, Lily, Sirius and Remus - laughing, this was just after Hogwarts graduation. Harry rubs his thumbs over his parents moving picture.
“Mum took the picture, I found it whilst I was cleaning my room, I thought you would want it,” You smiled, tilting your head to the side, “and the bracelet was said that Arthur gave Merlin it as a sign of friendship and love. There’s a lot of subtext between the two, but as a sign of friendship, love, and my loyalty. I’m with you till the end of the line."
“This is brilliant!” Harry says, beaming at you, as you laugh. Placing a gentle kiss upon his lips.
“I’m glad you like it,” You spoke softly as you help Harry placed the bracelet on, “Come, we better help with last-minute preparations.”
So, here were you and Harry being observed by Remus and Sirius. Remus says nothing seems out of the ordinary, but Sirius was still sceptical. Something was different, more than best friends. Slowly, the two had noticed that you and Harry were approaching.
“Next wedding will be you two,” Ron commented, appearing next to Sirius, as you rolled your eyes upon arrival.
“Shut up,” You hissed as Harry blushed, “I’d need a ring first-!”
“(Y/n)!” Harry exclaims as Ron burst out in laughter, whilst Harry goes a deep shade of red.
“Well, you know, after the months of travelling I had promised you, then we can get married,” You jokes, teased a little as Harry glares, “I’m kidding, my love, whenever you’re ready.”
You kissed his cheek, whilst Remus and Sirius looked baffled at the exchange. Sirius was about to speak until George had interrupted.
“Bloody hell, what’s the ministry of magic doing here?”

Hii! I love your rants on Sirius, they're fantastic. Could u make a post about how fricking powerful Sirius is because I feel like that's very unrecognised by the fandom. He became an Animagus at 15 and duelled like 3 people in the Department of Mysteries, despite the fact that u need continuous practise or you'll stumble (that's why Remus died). Can u plsplspps make a post on it????
Hiii! This made my day! Someone is reading my rants? They have so little notes! I’m not really part of the HP fandom so I don’t follow almost any HP blog and, as such, none of my followers actually care about my HP posts.
Anyway, thank you so much for reading my rants and enjoying them. And for your enthusiasm requesting this! Feel free to ask me anything you want!
On the subject of Sirius’s brilliance being unrecognized, this is something that I sort of noticed in a previous post. For example, Professor McGonagall said that both Sirius and James were exceptionally bright students. She doesn’t really dish out unearned praise, so that definitely means they were very intelligent. They co-created the Marauders Map and became Animagi as teens (and mostly helped Peter like Remus, I think, says). Dumbledore himself calls Sirius an intelligent and energetic man (or something like that). Professor Slughorn also notices how he wished Sirius had been a Slytherin. Slughorn “collects” students who are either well connected or bright. He liked Regulus, but seemed disappointed not to have “the set”. It’s sort of implied that Sirius was more brilliant than his brother. He must have been good at potions (and not just a Black, since Slughorn didn’t care that Draco was a Malfoy). In fact, Remus says that James and Sirius were good at everything, effortlessly so, even more than Snape (who was obviously excellent at potions, but not as good as Lily maybe).
Sirius also joined the Order at a young age and kept himself alive which implies that he was more cautious and capable that people give him credit for.
Sirius survived without magic after Azkaban for two years. In his conversations with Harry, people seemed to forget that he was the one who kept the Trio in the loop about things. He spoke about Moody, Crouch, Umbrigde, etc. when everyone was keeping Harry in the dark. The only way Harry learned things about the Ministry and shit was through Sirius, who kept up to date by reading the Daily Prophet and by being sharp and intuitive.
To me, magical power is all about intelligence and sharpness. You need that in order to learn spells and in order to be a good dueler. That’s why it makes sense that Sirius became an Animagus at such a young age, and even that his form is powerful - a bear sized black dog.
Sirius also told Harry how to get past the dragon in the first task. He had the idea of a spell to hurt its eyes. He remembered that 12 years after Azkaban. A lesser man would have forgotten his own name!
As you mentioned, at the Ministry, Sirius did fight a few people. I just re-read that scene. He fought an unnamed Death Eater - and presumably won. He then fought Dolohov for a while - Dolohov had just defeated Moody, was the one who killed Remus and the Prewetts, and was one of the oldest Death Eaters, so very powerful. They fought furiously for a while, but Harry stepped in when he saw that Dolohov was going to use his trademark spell - although I’m sure Sirius could have blocked it, like Harry did. He then fought Bellatrix probably for a few minutes. Bellatrix is also super powerful, about ten years older than Sirius, so more experienced. She had just knocked out Tonks. Sirius and her are described as being in an equal duel, deflecting each other’s spells. Sirius dodged the first “red” spell Bellatrix sent his way but the second one hit him in the chest. Sirius didn’t die from that. He just feel into the veil. He was alive when that happened.
So, obviously, Sirius is powerful because he fought three Death Eaters in the time in took Tonks and Moody to go down, for example. The thing with Bellatrix was luck. Sirius wouldn’t have died if he had been away from the Veil, most likely. And regardless, no one is bullet proof so to speak. Sirius was clearly on the same level with Dolohov and Bellatrix, and even if they were better, they were also very powerful wizards decades older than Sirius. Bellatrix and Dolohov spent years with Voldemort during the first War while Sirius was at Hogwarts. Sirius spent his 20s - his best years - in Azkaban so was obviously at a disadvantage compared to some of the Death Eaters.
The way J.K. Rowling writes, who dies or lives is irrelevant and doesn’t represent power. Molly defeated Bellatrix and she was not nearly as capable as Bellatrix was (to me, that death didn’t even make sense). The Trio and most of the teenagers lived because J.K. Rowling wanted them too (and Sirius died for the opposite reason).
So yeah, Sirius was obviously very bright and powerful. He was definitely a great wizard, even post Azkaban. In fanfiction, writers always seem to acknowledge that Sirius is a good dueler though. Is your experience different? I’m really new to this so I wouldn’t know.
Plus, why do you say that Remus was killed because he stumbled when fighting Dolohov? When is that explained?
Thanks a lot for the ask! I’m not sure I touched the points you wanted me to, because I focused more on his intelligence and not as much on his magical skills. Tbh, there aren’t many scenes of Sirius doing magic but there are some of him displaying magical knowledge which sort of implies his capabilities as a wizard. Feel free to ask for more rants!

That Orphan Boy
Fandom: Harry Potter Pairing: Members of the Order & Student!Reader Summary: 5 Times you saved a member of the Order and 1 time they had saved you Word Count: 4926 Warning: Injury, Blood, Nothing is Canon anymore (whoops?) A mixture of the book and movie?
Tumblr media
You were an orphan boy that was strangely adopted into the friendship group of Harry Potter, not that you were complaining, you found two boys in a compartment in your first year scoffing down all the sweets from the trolley. You were sorted into Gryffindor and were dragged into the adventures of Harry Potter.
You were very close to Harry, losing both your parents when you can barely walk. You sort of bonded over the abusive nature of when you were growing up, you were like Harry’s long-lost soulmate, a connection of some sort, he would often come to you because you understood. Harry trusted you a lot, even more so in the fourth year where you helped with his DADA, he was as skilled as it was, but you helped him with spells he had not heard of, which is why you often help in the Dumbledore Army.
You were very close to Ron, the boy had not a bad bone in his body. Often times you and he were seen laughing at jokes you were telling. He never had seen you and Harry as best friends but rather brothers. He found you great to hang out with and mess around. You had always made sure he said nothing offensive since he was a little innocent to what to say and not to say.
You were very close to Hermione, she was grateful to have someone who didn’t get instantly confused when she had started to ramble. You were patient even when you get lost in her translation, much more tolerable as you were much more considerate. She enjoyed your company, found you a little overbearing when she knows full well that she can protect herself, but that’s what siblings do, right?
You had found family at school, with your lack of knowledge of affection and such things, you had a slow learning process. Sometimes, they often wonder if you’re too true to be good since you were kind and considerable, often forgetting how you have a bad headspace.
You would usually spend your Christmas at school, you didn’t mind, it took you away from the orphanage. Ron had complained to his mother during the summer after the first year that you were stuck in an orphanage and suddenly Molly had filled in a fostering application for you.
You had awkwardly stood behind the woman, who explained basic stuff about you, glaring at her when she tried to make you sound like a rotten child. Molly had beckoned you in the burrow where Ron, Fred and George had bombarded you. Since then, every Christmas and August you would spend time at the Burrow.
It was until the summer before the fifth year, the order has a suspicious feeling with you.
“Do we really know little of the orphan?”
“He has a name,” Molly scowls at Mad-Eye, it was the night before they had to retrieve Harry, “(Y/n) (L/n), poor boy, his parents were killed when he was a baby.”
“His parents were death eaters.”
“I have taught (Y/n) in his third year, he’s nothing like his parents,” Remus explained, “Molly and Arthur know what he’s like as well, not to mention he has three good friends. People don’t often follow their parents’ footsteps.”
“Take a look at me,” Sirius piped up, “Or even Tonks and her mother must I continue?”
Mad-Eye looked agitated, as the adults stared at him, “It’s something about him that doesn’t sit right with me.”
“Then, we’ll keep an eye on him.”
The group of adults sigh as the children started to file in for dinner, Sirius had met you once and that was helping Harry and Hermione get him out of Azkaban, since then he had always a good impression on you. You sat down with Ginny and Ron, trying to fight as you sat between them. The adults didn’t want to think there was a traitor trait in you, but they couldn’t help but imagine it.
Tumblr media
The Battle of Department of Mysteries is when the Order had started to have doubts about you being a traitor. You were at Harry’s side, clutching your wand in hand as you confusingly watch Neville come back to aid you and Harry.
Hermione, Ginny, Luna and Ron was rendered useless after the getting separated, it was the three you trying to hold down the fort. Your hand gripped the wand as you had glared at Malfoy, Harry was hesitant but was reluctant to give the prophecy.
That was until the door had slammed open, revealing members of the order entering. The battle once resumed as Tonks shoots the stunning spell at Malfoy allowing the three of you to try and sneak away. Only for Harry to be grabbed by another death eater as you were flung back.
You watched Neville poked the death eater in the eye with Hermione’s wand, the two was caught between Dolohov whilst the masked death eater aimed his wand at you.
Mad-Eye had been caught down by Death Eaters as Tonks was knocked back after her Aunt had Jinxed her. You were flying spells as you noticed Harry and Neville being shielded by Lupin, who told them to go to the other DA members. You flicked your wrist and suddenly the masked death eater was flung away from you.
You were about to leave, but you had seemed to be stuck to the ground, cursing that you must have not noticed whilst the death eater you had flung away must have struck you. You called out for Harry and Neville, but they were stuck in a predicament.
The prophecy had fallen out of Neville’s pocket and smashed. Whilst you were getting frustrated, trying to rack up the memory of the counterspell for the charm. Waving your wand carelessly you tried to free yourself as more Death Eaters tried to get to you, only to be stopped by Dumbledore.
You were pushed back, only for your wand to fire one last spell. As it shoots out its beam, it was aimed at Bellatrix, who was duelling Sirius and the two were unaware of the presence of Dumbledore. The spell had knocked back Bellatrix as she was about to fire a powerful curse, only to miss Sirius by inches as she was knocked down.
Sirius’ eyes widen, his eyes locking to yours, who you were surprised yourself, before moving away from the veil. Sirius understood that his cousin was getting frustrated with him, his teasing and gloating must have pushed her too far and he was asking for it. Sirius was thankful for you to accidentally knock her down, if not he was a goner.
Bellatrix screamed in annoyance as she turns to see who shot the spell, her fury eyes stared you down as Remus and Sirius were ready to defend you, only her eyes to flicker to your headmaster, who was standing just a few meters in front of you. She chuckled.
“You get off lucky,”
She ran away, up the stairs as Dumbledore followed closely, Harry right behind him, passing Sirius and Remus. You lifted your right leg up and found yourself free from the sticking charm before Sirius could thank you for saving him, you were gone to find out if your friends were okay.
He figured he could say his thanks later.
Tumblr media
Sirius wasn’t able to give you his thanks, but news around the order was quick that a young fifteen-year-old boy was strong enough to save Sirius from death, saving Harry from any more heartbreak. It was the talk of July at Grimmauld Place.
“(Y/n)?” Fred questioned, as the children entered the dining room when some of the members of the order stayed for dinner and were caught talking about you.
“Great kid,” George complimented.
“Hell of a fighter,” Fred continued.
“Lacks common sense,” Hermione butted in, rolling her eyes as she smiles fondly about the thought of you, “Of course, I miss that idiot’s face.”
“Sometimes, I wonder how he’s not in Hufflepuff for his loyalty,” Ron spoke, shrugging his shoulders.
“You’re just as loyal, Ronald!” Hermione complained as Ron grinned at her, “If he was here, he would be hitting you over the head telling you to read some more.”
“Leave him be,” Harry butted in, a soft grin planted on his face, “(Y/n) is a great person-”
“Oh, Harry!” The children moaned, much of the adult’s amusement.
“You’re in love Harry,” Ginny teased as Harry playfully scoffed, “We get it, (Y/n) and you are duelling soulmates!”
“Hey!” Harry exclaimed, “If it wasn’t for him, you would hardly know any attacking spells in the first place!”
“The only time he would study,” Hermione scoffed, “What is it with you all about not studying and Quidditch?”
The group of children had erupted into a debate, the conversation had made the adults think. Maybe you weren’t so bad, so when you showed up the first of August, a black eye and a bandaged left wrist but a positive grin on your face. They couldn’t help but think you were just like the rest of the kids, nothing like your death eater parents.
“What happened to you, (Y/n)?” Ron commented on your appearance as Molly scowls at her son.
“Got in a fight with a leprechaun,” The table looked at you as Hermione snorted, before flashing a grin, “You really need to stop believing everything I say, Ronald, what do you think happened?”
That was enough for the table to understand how you sustain the injury. Your group of friends and you continued to be close to the members of the order, even hearing you and Harry gush about being older to be auror. Your ability and loyalty were tested on the night of the move of Harry Potter.
As Mad-Eye said, everyone in the room was of age except Harry. They needed him to be moved safely. Everyone paired up, but you, well you were supposed to go with Sirius, however, you pointed out that Bellatrix and Voldemort would go for Sirius as much as they want Harry.
So, you came alone, like a watcher of everyone. You were very comfortable with the people around you except that Mundungus, you watched six Harry’s and their partner take off to the sky. You look at Mad-Eye, gripping your broom with one hand and the wand in the other.
“You keep an eye on things, I trust you,”
There was a lot of pressure as the last “Harry” and Mad-Eye take off in the air, with you shortly following. You noticed the moment you were in the air, you were ambushed. As you dodged flying spells, you kept an eye on the Harrys’ around. Kicking forward as you zoomed around the clouds and dodging spells, casting some yourself as you watched the protectors protect their Harry.
That was until Voldemort had shown up, you heard a shout from Mad-Eye from behind, crying out for Mundungus to stay, swinging your broom to their direction as you watched the coward man disapparate.
Pushing forward you see the Dark Lord almost conducting his spell before ramming into Mad-Eye, for Bill and Fleur to witness when the beam of green light disappeared, there were no traces of you or Mad-Eye. Bill assumed the worst as he continues to push forward.
Nose-diving down as Mad-Eye was free falling from his broom, you speeded yourself as you found yourself grabbing his forearm. Ignoring the searing pain in your shoulder as you pulled yourself from crashing into the muggle London. Mad-Eye looked down shocked before looking at you, pulling a face as you tried to keep a grip on him.
“Argh!” You let out as you zoomed through the cars and pulling up back into the sky.
“You’ve gotta let me go,” Mad-Eye shouted.
“Like hell.”
Mad-Eye was very impressed by the determination of a seventeen-year-old, you were still a student and your sheer will of determination was astounding. You had noticed that the sky was clearing of Wizard as you gave your last strength to throw, though it was a poor weak throw, Mad-Eye into the portkey before you did so yourself.
The rest of the order was wondering where you and Mad-Eye was, the burrow was quite as George was injured and the thought of two people killed in action hurt them.
“Are you sure you had seen them get killed?”
“I didn’t say they were killed, missing most likely,” Bill snapped back at Kingsley, before looking apologetic.
Soon they heard wind blow followed with angry shouts of an Auror. The group hurried out as you and the auror was bickering like children.
“Idiotic, stupid, move!” You rolled your eyes as you smiled at the trio, itching to run up and hug you, “You could have gotten killed!”
“I-”
“Now, you’ve dislocated your shoulder!”
“Well, if you weren’t so heavy-”
“Why you little!” You dashed behind into the burrow as the moment had lifted the tense atmosphere.
The days passing, Mad-Eye found staring at you as you laugh loudly during Bill’s and Fleur’s wedding, enjoying that grain of happiness. Just as he was about to say his thank you for saving him, you were from his sight and off the radar for a year.
Tumblr media
No one has heard much of you or the trio, the Order assumed that you were still alive and protecting each other. When Fred had alerted through the radio that lightning had struck, the order member found themselves entering their old school again. The group were relieved to find the young teenagers back, but they found themselves feeling unsettled how you four looked.
Ron had bags under his eyes, his shoulder leaned down on one side as Hermione still had a fire in herself, but the order had noticed how her hands shook before hiding it away. Harry looked exhausted, but he was ready to end all things. They looked at you, a body that was tense and looked like you had been recently injured.
There was a haunted look in your eyes as you let out a huff of tiredness, Hermione and Ron were by your side. Harry had disappeared to join the Gryffindors. It was obvious from blood stains and dirt stains that things had not been looking all smooth sailing for the past year.
“You look like hell kid,” Mad-Eye commented to you as Ron hugs his parents.
Hermione spares you a glance as you looked over to Mad-Eye, Kingsley and Remus at his side, you shrugged your stiff shoulders and a deep breath, with a small bitter laugh, “Been there and back.”
You licked your lips as you blinked slowly, Hermione sighs as she buries herself in your side. Everyone watched as the two looked at Ron with tired sad eyes, all that they worked for comes up to now, they were such broken and hurt individuals who rather die for each other to betray each other.
Remus and Sirius spare each other a glance, remembering the good old days where they were best friends, carefree and laughing their student days away. As the group of defenders enter the Great Hall they had witness McGonagall fight Snape.
“Neville hold the fort, listen to (Y/n),” Harry spoke as he turns to you, “(Y/n), I trust you know your instinct and your fortunate display of power, I know you’ll take command.”
Trust, it was one of the biggest words that affected you most, you hesitantly nodded.
“Good luck Harry,” You spoke sincerely, your hand against his cheek as his hand was on the back of your neck, forehead against each other before Harry dashed away.
As everyone was preparing for war, Remus was stationed near the quad battlement with Kingsley, Arthur whilst Fred and George took the roof. As the war had started, Remus had found Fred away from his station as he ran after Percy, who was beyond furious with himself as he battle death eaters.
Remus was met with his match, Dolohov was a very skilled fighter however Remus was just as good. However, Dolohov was just a tiny bit better. You had been running and disapparating in and out, witnessing Neville and Professor Sprout throwing plants at the enemies and hearing news with the paintings.
Some painting was just to aid the Order members such as Mad-Eye and Kingsley, but when they had found you in a mass of taking down three death eaters, they called that Remus was in trouble. Running up the stairs as you waved your wand and you watched a death Easter fall to his death as he fell over the stairs.
“Reducto!” You exclaimed as a beam of red light hits Dolohov at the side, catching him off guard as Remus had his arm over his head with his eyes screwed shut, preparing for his downfall.
But, it never came. Remus opens his eyes and lowers his arm slowly as he looks at you, your hand offering a help up as he takes it.
He noticed a sweat, blood and dirt around you, you were breathing heavily as you nodded.
“Sirius is in extra help,”  You spoke softly, “Your son needs you, I’m not taking any chance of you dying.”
With that, you were dashing off again as you hear the painting cry out that Harry, Ron and Hermione were running through the school. Remus was confused as it finally dawned on him.
As he runs to aid his best friend, Sirius gives him a side eye.
“What happened?”
Back to back, protecting each other as Sirius happily waves his wand, he was going to fight till his dying breath with his best friend at his side.
“(Y/n) just saved me,” Remus breathes, “I never got the chance to say thank you.”
Tumblr media
You were running alongside Ron as you battle through the corridor.
“You’re going to where now?” You exclaimed, “You’re bloody mental!”
“I saw him there,” Harry screams back as you both fire at the same death eater, “I need to know-”
They heard Fred laughing, losing his concentration as Percy wore a triumphant grin on his face. The four of you had stopped short watching, there was a bad feeling in you. The trio continues to break into a run, waving your wand in aiding that they could get to the shrieking shack quicker, but you have a side glance towards the older Weasley brothers.
Fred had always been close to you along with George since you often found yourself spending Christmas and summer with them. The feeling of uneasy made you break out into a sprint towards Fred.
“Fred!”
He looked at you after he blasted the death eater he was fighting away, his eyebrow knitted together before you fully tackled him back into the ground, sliding back from his spot as you covered his body with yours. Suddenly the wall next to where he had stood by was blasted open. Fortunately, missing Percy, but if you had not tackled Fred he would be dead.
“Fred? (Y/n)?” Percy screams out, wafting the dust away as you coughed.
Small parts of debris had fallen on you as you slowly got you and helped Fred up, who was very confused. His brown eyes stared at yours, a small smile planted on your face as you dust off the dirt of his jacket whilst Percy found both of you alive.
“Fred-” Percy started to fret over his younger brother.
Fred sighs, exclaiming there was no time for this as Ron had been able to watch you save his brother’s life before getting tugged away by Hermione. Percy had started to apologise profusely, allowing you to escape the awkward encounter.
Fred huffed before realising you had been missing from your spot.
“Where’s (Y/n)?” Percy exclaimed, “We need to say something to him-”
“He knows us Perce,” Fred spoke a grin on his face, “He is practically the adopted Weasley.”
“Yes, I always wondered if mum was going to adopt (Y/n),” Percy nodded, “She should have.”

Tonks had no regrets in entering the battle as much as she wanted to stay with her little baby boy, her husband needs her more. Crashing into moving students as she weaves in and out before crashing into a familiar face.
You had grabbed her by her shoulder, keeping her in place as she looks around frantically before processing who had stopped her. She sighs in relief and hugged you tightly, you accepted the comfort before parting and holding her again. Your eyebrows knitted together.
“What are on Earth are you doing here?”
“Where’s Remus?”
“Last time I saw him was-”
You were thrown back, smacking your head. Tonks was confused, standing in the corridor as she was faced with her aunt, Bellatrix cackles as Tonks raise her wand and stood defensively, unaware of your dazed and unconscious state.
“I’ll deal with the little prat later, I want you my dearest niece,” Bellatrix sneers as she waves her wand, beams of blue, red and green started to sprout out at each other.
Tonks was holding out a good fight, she was mentored by Mad-eye, the best auror of England or perhaps the world, of course, she was taught the best, picking up Mad-Eyes traits and spells. The fight had lasted well ten minutes as Tonks started to weaken.
Bellatrix was much older and most definitely more skilled, she didn’t want to admit that she was rather impressed that Tonks was able to hold out for so long, she had believed that Tonks was rather an easy target to kill.
Tonks was stumbled back as she was caught off guard, it allowed Bellatrix to cast a powerful spell but it was blocked by your protego, standing in front of Tonks. Who looked relieved that someone had stepped in. Bellatrix gritted her teeth.
“You little swine!” She sneers, before bitterly chuckling, “I don’t understand why you want to keep her alive, to be on their side, your family had their loyalties to the Dark Lord.”
You tighten your grip on your wand, “I have no family, my loyalties are with Harry Potter. And for your information, I have nothing to lose, no one would care if I died. But, Tonks? She has everything to lose, and I can’t have that. Reducto!”
The beam of red escapes your wand as Bellatrix deflecting it, angry with your response she screams and tries to hit you with Stupefy, pushing Tonks behind you as you cast the shield charm and quickly giving her want she given you. Stunning her momentarily.
“Go, find Remus and survive,” You responded, pushing Tonks quickly into the crowd, “Go, I’ll be fine.”
Tonks watched you dodging a spell from her aunt, her guilt building inside her as she watched you get flipped back, she could see your floppy hair in the wind as you ran away with Bellatrix hot at your heels.
Tonks got to hear Bellatrix spewing out the torture curse, but by the sound of frustration, she was missing you. Tonks sigh, hoping to see you after the war as she runs down the corridor hoping to find her husband alive.

The one-hour armistice.
The Order Members looked exhausted, bloody and beaten. The great hall was full of the mourners and the reflectors. Molly and Arthur giving their love to Fred, hearing the near experience with fate, which caused the husband and wife to look over to the Weasley family.
“(Y/n)?” Tonks questioned weakly, “I owe him one.”
Remus looked at his wife, kissing her hair, “We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him.”
Fred smiles softly as Mad-Eye and Sirius overhear the conversation. Fred sits by George, who was wiping his tears calming down that his brother was still alive.
“I wonder what goes in that young man’s head,” Kingsley spoke, walking towards them, “Stupidity or pure bravery?”
“(Y/n) said he had nothing to live for, no wonder he’s having the tendency to get into situations like this. He thinks he’s not worth the tears, nor think anyone would miss him, unlike us.” Tonks explained, shrugging her shoulders before leaning into Remus.
“Well, that’s not true,” Bill spoke confidently, “He’s family, spent most of his summer and Christmas with us, he’s a friend.”
“Hard to convince an orphan boy,” Mad-Eye grunted.
“Speaking of which, where is (Y/n)? Has anyone seen him?” Sirius asked. The group cast their eyes to the dead bodies, dreading the worst.
“I-” Ginny spoke from the side of her mother, the group looked at her, “Last time I saw him was taken down by Bellatrix.”
Tonks winced as she was the one who left you with her. The group grimace at the thought of you dead, Ron and Hermione had slowly came up to the group of people, they smiled at them.
“Have you seen (Y/n)?” George asked as Ron rose an eyebrow.
“Yeah, he’s talking to Harry before, dunno where he disappeared from.”
Hermione looks apologetic as Ron shrugs his shoulders, the group was not satisfied with the answer, Ron sighs and continues, “He’s definitely alive, he’s one of the best duellers I’ve ever met, that’s why Harry and he are so good together.”
Hermione nodded, recapitulating, “Hard as nails, shame I haven’t been able to appreciate him more, he’s powerful.”
“Obviously,”
The second half of the war started once again, the group getting into the action and finally noticing that you were still alive and well. But, you were beyond exhausted, the days before the war was upon them, you had been sleeping bad, now you’ve been running and disapparating around, you were tired and you wanted to lie down.
So, whilst you were defeating Death Eaters, you had barely noticed how the people that cared for you were moving closer to you. In a state of exhaustion, you were surrounded by five death eaters, caught off guard, you were trying to block spells.
“Incarecerous!”
Rope aimed at your neck, yanking you back as you tried to grip the rope off you, gagging and sputtering as the group of Death Eaters, took turns throwing jinx, spells and curses. Shutting your eyes as you started to feel calmness, you were able to hear the distance Fred screaming Reducto, as Remus and Tonks took down two death eaters whilst you can hear violent bangs off a stick connect to the hard concrete flooring and a Death eater yelping away and lastly you could hear the angry curses Sirius was using, both magical and non-magical curses.
“Fucking touch him I’ll - Diffindo!” Sirius cut off himself before casting the
You were still gasping as you felt someone had their hand on my wrist whilst another calmly cut the rope away, gasping some air and eyes open you were met by the eyes of the people who you had saved.
Coughing, your hand on your chest as you looked at them dizzily.
“Keep standing around you’re going to get yourself killed.”
“You’re still looking out for us even when you almost died.”
You shrugged as you grabbed your wand, Tonks hoisted you up as Mad-Eye gave her instructions, for you to be kept away from the battle and for her to stay with you so she was out of the crossfire of death.
You had the itch to continue to fight but when you saw Tonks red hair, you obediently stayed put, watching Harry defeat Voldemort. When the height of war had died down, you were surrounded by members of the order. You had your knees up with your head in between them, spitting blood onto the ground grimly, groaning as you looked up to find eyes on you.
“Hey?” You offered weakly, swaying at your seat before Sirius putting firm hands on you to stop.
“Hey,” Fred and George grinned as Percy gives you a wink.
There was silence, coughing and wiping the grim red thick liquid, letting a groan escape as they looked at you sympathetically. Waiting for a healer to come and assist everyone’s injury.
You huffed loudly, “Erm, thanks for…you know…before.”
“Well, if you weren’t allowing me to die, I’m doing the same for you,” Remus responded.
“Yeah? Even being a traitor?”
“You knew about that?” Mad-Eye questions, sitting down near you.
“Well, yes, among many various assumptions and theories about an orphan boy that’s been said,” You admitted, as the adults looked uncomfortable, “It’s fine, look at us now.”
“You said you had nothing to lose.” Tonks piped up, watching you shrug.
“If I had to prove to you that I was loyal, you’ve proved to me that I was worth a save.”
“You had managed to save not only one but five members of the order, adults with far more experience and most of us trained Aurors!” Mad-Eye exclaims, grunting out as you smile faintly.
“Like I said, our (Y/n) is hard as nails, powerful!” Hermione greeted, giving you a hug.
“Don’t bother trying to argue with him,” Ron came up, “It’s how he shows his affections.”
“Alright, stop calling out my flaws!” you whined as Ron chuckled, ruffling your hair, “I don’t do affection.”
“Well, you better start getting used to it, you’re part of the family.”
You looked surprised as Molly, Arthur and Ginny came back with food, you happily sat with the big group of odd individuals. You were content, though they may have not explicitly said that they were thankful for saving them, their affections in the upcoming months and years would show you that.
And suddenly you weren’t just that orphan boy, you found somewhere to belong.
