and why would an angel rescue me from hell? good things do happen dean. not in my experience. i'm not here to perch on your shoulder. i was getting too close to the humans in my charge. you. to everything there is a season. you made an exception for me. you're different. for what's worth, i would give anything not to have you do this. i learned my lesson while i was away, dean. i serve heaven, i don't serve men and i certainly don't serve you. but you guys aren't supposed to be there, you're not in this story. yeah, well, we're making it up as we go. i'm hunted, i rebelled and i did it all, all of it, for you. so what i'm thelma and you're louise and we're just gonna hold hands and sail off this cliff together? i need your help because you're the only one who'll help me. that's a pretty nice timing, cas. we had an appointment. what happened to you cas? you used to be human, or at least like one. but cas, you'll call right? if you get into real trouble? this is cas, guys. he has gone to the mat cut and bleeding for us so many freaking times, don't we owe him the benefit of the doubt at least? it sounds so simple when you say it like that, where were you when i needed to hear it? i was there, where were you? i'm doing this for you, dean. i'm doing this because of you. but we were family once, i would've died for you, i almost did a few times. i've lost lisa, i've lost ben and now i've lost sam. don't make me lose you too. cas, you child, why didn't you listen to me. you used to fight together, bestest of friends, actually. if you remember, then you know you did the best you could at the time. the very touch of you corrupts. when castiel first laid a hand on you in hell he was lost. i'd rather have you, cursed or not. well, i'll go with you. i prayed to you cas, every night. cas, we're getting out of here, we're going home. i mean you kept saying you didn't think it would work, did you not trust me? cas, it's me. we need you, i need you. i won't hurt dean. cause you didn't trust me? you didn't trust me. please, man, i need you here. nobody wants him here more than i do. you gave us an order, castiel, and we gave you our trust. don't lose it over one man. you really believe we three will be enough? we always have been. his true weakness is revealed. you draped yourself with the flag of heaven but ultimately, it was all about saving one human. i'm glad you're here, man. how are you, dean? and then you'll kill the angel, castiel. now that one, that i suspect would hurt something awful. and when you turn, everyone you know, everyone you love, they could be long dead. everyone except me. i'm not gonna send lucifer into battle inside cas, what if he doesn't make it? it's not an it, sam. it's cas. but you're always there, you know? i could go with you. you mean too much to me, to everything. i'm gonna cure you of your human weakness, same way i cured my own. it's a gift, you keep those. you mean we? yes, dumbass, we. we lost everything and now you're gonna bring him back. we got cas back, that's a pretty damn big win. just don't get dead again. it's good to hear your voice. so this is goodbye? but i swear if he did something to her, if she's- then you're dead to me. either get on board or walk away. i don't know what's god and what isn't, and it's driving me crazy. dean, you asked what about all of this is real. we are. you used trust me, give me the benefit of the doubt, now you can barely look at me. i think it's time for me to move on. you didn't deserve that. since when do we get what we deserve? maybe if you didn't just up and leave us. i left but you didn't stop me. i should've stopped you. you're my best friend but i just let you go. and i forgive you, of course i forgive you. i'm sorry it took me so long, i'm sorry it took me til now to say it. you did it cas. okay, cas, i need to say something. you don't have to say it, i heard your prayer. well, here's to being right. you know what every other version of you did after gripping him tight and raising him from perdition? they did what they were told, but not you.

January 24th, 2013 — Dean’s 34th Birthday.
You were barely able to drag yourself out of bed and into the living room where you were now seated and watching TV. It didn’t matter what was on, you weren’t paying attention anyway. Your mind was completely focused on Dean. Your beloved Dean; who shouldn’t be wherever the fuck he was but instead safe in your arms.
He shouldn’t be spending his birthday terrified, missing you and his brother. He should be spending it with you, Sam, and Cas.
Sure, he wasn’t really the birthday party type of guy but each year since you met him you’d gotten him a pie and put candles in it for him to blow out. It’d started as a half-assed attempt to put a smile on his face when you learned it was his birthday and you couldn’t find a cake at the store.
He’d loved it.
“How’d you know I’d rather have pie?” he had asked, his face lighting up even more when you put two candles—a two and a four—in the center.
“I…had a feeling.” You had shrugged it off as not a big deal but deep down you both knew how much it meant to him.
And each year since then—come rain, shine, monsters, or the apocalypse—you made it your job to get Dean Winchester a pie on his birthday.
A few tears rolled down your cheeks, joining the half-dried ones there already. You hadn’t been sad on Dean’s birthday since his year before hell. But it was different then, you had him next to you and you were savoring every second. You might have been terrified of what would soon happen, but you were still with him.
**
“If you’re not already aware, Dean,” Castiel started, “you turn thirty-four today.”
“What?” Dean asked, confused. “Cas we—”
“Granted time seems to be passing differently here, but on earth it is currently your birthday.”
“Happy birthday, brother,” Benny joked.
“Yeah real fuckin’ happy,” Dean scoffed. “We’re stuck killing our way through this fuckin’ nightmare while the love of my life is spending my birthday alone.”
“I’m sure she’s okay, Dean,” Cas assured him. “She has Sam, he’ll look after her until we get back.”
“No, you don’t get it. Birthdays were…they were our thing, if that makes any goddamn sense.”
**
“Happy birthday, Dean,” you smiled, placing the pie in front of him.
“Twenty-six! God, that sounds old,” Dean laughed a little.
“You’re kidding right?” you asked after singing for him as he blew out the candles.
“What?”
“Twenty six may sound old to you, but trust me you are still fuckin’ adorable.”
“I am, aren’t I?” He grinned.
“You wanna do the honors, cutie?” you asked, handing him the kitchen knife.
“Gladly, sweetheart,” he said, taking it from you. You watched him cut a slice for you then an even bigger slice for himself.
“Dean,” you started as you watched him begin eating the pie. “I love you.”
He stopped eating and looked at you; “What?”
“I know there’s a lot about your life you haven’t told me, you’re lore you could call it, but I need you to know that I really do love you, Dean Winchester.”
“But how? I mean, I’m not exactly an open book and there’s no way…” he trailed off.
“No way, what?”
“There’s no way in hell you’d feel this way if you learned everything about me.”
Your heart broke at his words, and your expression definitely showed it.
“The amount of pure love I have for you is beyond measurable, Dean. And I might be crazy for saying this, and feeling this, but there is truly nothing you could say or do that would make me stop.”
“Really?” he asked quietly, as if he was scared to press his luck.
You nodded with a soft smile; “Really.”
“Well, look I’m not really one for…that…but I do…I do feel that way about you too. I guess what I’m saying is, uh, right back at cha?”
“See to any normal person that would sound like the ramblings of a crazy man,” you said, his smile only growing. “But to me? Absolute poetry.” You leaned over and kissed him. “Happy birthday, Dean.”
He simply kissed you back, smiling against your lips.
**
“Happy birthday, Dean,” you whispered, blowing out the candles on the small pie you’d bought. It was a one-person pie because you knew if you bought a regular one that at least three-quarters would not have been eaten.
You took out the candles and picked up your fork. Staring down at the desert, you let more tears fall.
“It shouldn’t be this hard to eat a fuckin’ pie,” you laughed humorously. Your phone rang next to you and you answered it; “Hey, Sam.”
“Hey,” he sighed. “I just wanted to call and check up on you. It being Dean’s birthday and all, I figured you might…you know…”
“Be huddled up in bed sobbing my eyes out?” you said.
“Yeah…”
“I’m holding it together Sammy, don’t worry about me,” you assured him.
“I always worry about you, you know that.”
There was a short pause in the conversation as you took a deep breath and let a few more tears fall; “I miss him, Sammy,” you admitted. “I just really miss him.”

DEAN There's a woman you haven't mentioned? SAM A woman? DEAN Well, I'm just saying. You weren't here when I went to bed last night. You've been running off on your own a lot these past couple weeks. SAM I do that. DEAN You actually don’t. SAM Dean, we don't always do the exact same thing at the exact same time. Remember when you went off and snuffed that vampire nest by yourself? DEAN Have you been snuffing vamps' nests? SAM No, I-I . . . What is that? What are you doing?

SAME, GIRL. SAME.

After Dean told us the stupid book would kick our asses if we mess with it. Is there any part of this that doesn't reek? SAM Did I mention you'll be working with one of the most dangerous witches in the world? CHARLIE I don't know, Sam. SAM As far as I can tell, this is our only shot at saving him. ROWENA Quite literal, aren't you? Does he know that the first rule is don't tell your brother what we're doing?
okay that made me laugh out loud
SAM Okay, everyone take a breath. Look, we're up against it, okay? And we've all been up against it before, and we know there are times when every choice sucks. Now, us lying to Dean is the choice that sucks the least. We have to make this work. Please.
CASTIEL Wait . . . Dean doesn't know? Sam, this never ends well. CHARLIE That's exactly what I said.

Chapter 3 of How to stop an angel from opening Purgatory- by Sam and Dean Winchester
sumarry:
Sorry that I haven't posted last week, but I was on holiday. I hope you still like the story and please let me know if you have a better title. I wish you all a very good day !!
Chapter 3: Purgatory
‘Don’t panic,’ said a voice behind them. There stood Balthazar, wounded, with a bloody trench coat. ‘How are we not supposed to panic ?!’ ‘What happened ? Did Cas escape ?’ ‘I let him escape.’ ‘You what ?!’ Bobby and Dean looked like they could kill him, but Sam walked to Balthazar and said: ‘Let’s get you patched up first.’
An hour later they were talking again. ‘Why,’ Dean asked, trying to remain calm. ‘Why did you let him escape ?’ ‘To get an inside man, idjit,’ Bobby answered for the angel. ‘How did you know that ?’ Balthazar asked. ‘You were shopping.’ ‘I..uh..thought it was obvious. Also-’ Bobby couldn’t finish his sentence, because at that moment Sam threw water at him. When it hit him, it hissed like a tomato in a frying pan. Bobby’s eyes turned black, darker than the night. ‘Quick Sam !’ Sam began the exorcism, while Balthazar and Dean tried to take him out.
It didn’t work. ‘Why doesn’t it work ?’ ‘I don’t know !’ Dean suddenly realised something. ‘Do you see anything on his wrists ?’ ‘Yeah, they look like the on and off button on a laptop. You know what it is ?’ ‘Yeah, it’s a binding link !’ He had to make a weird move to avoid a really sharp blade and yelled: ‘A demon also used that on you ! You have to burn it or destroy it !’ ‘Something like this ?’ Balthazar grabbed one of Bobby’s arms and sliced his blade through the mark. Dean took care of the other arm. ‘Sam ! Quickly now !!’ Sam did the exorcism and a black smoke escaped from Bobby’s mouth. He fell on the ground and didn’t move.
‘Bobby ? Bobby !’ 'Hey Bobby, wake up man. Come on.’ Bobby slowly opened his eyes and groaned. ‘What happened ?’ ‘You were possessed. Glad you’re here again. Come on. We need to stop Crowley.’ ‘What ? What’s going on ?’ ‘We’ll tell you later what’s going on, but now we have to move. Balthazar, any idea where they are ?’ ‘Yes. Bend your knees.’ With one touch on their forehead they teleported, or well rather flew, to Crowley’s hiding place.
‘Hello boys.’ There stood the King of Hell. A sigil made of blood painted on the wall, with an unconscious and bloody Cas laying on the floor next to it. Dean’s veins turned to ice. ‘What have you done to Cas ?’ he asked, concerned as always. ‘Well, he betrayed me, so I figured he still could be useful. Thanks to him I can now open Purgatory.’ ‘We won’t let you,’ Sam said. Cas groaned. Dean wanted to walk to him, but Crowley pushed him against a wall with his demonic powers. ‘Did you really think I would be that stupid ? Now if you’ll excuse me, I have work to do.’ As soon as he turned around Sam tried to stab him in the back. That caused Crowley to dodge the blow and let go of Dean. Dean ran over to Cas and started moving him somewhere safer. He signaled to Balthazar to help him, because Bobby was helping Sam. In those few seconds they moved Cas somewhere else, but failed to kill Crowley. One second after Crowley had dodged the blow, two demons appeared out of nowhere. They both grabbed one of Sam’s arms and tried to beat the crap out of him. Tried.
Sometimes you try something and you have no idea, no clue it’ll work. This was the case. Bobby had no idea if the angel blade would work, but as soon as he saw those demons appear, he grabbed that blade and stabbed one of them with it. The blade went far through the demon’s chest, but there wasn’t any blood. Panic rose in both Sam’s and Bobby’s eyes. But before the demons could do anything more there shone a bright, white light from across the room.
All the demons disappeared and when Sam looked at the other side of the room he saw Balthazar with a knife, next to a sigil made out of blood. Blood dripped from his arm. Sam had a look of both confusion and curiosity on his face. ‘Demon warding sigil,’ Balthazar explained. ‘Now let’s destroy every piece of info they have and then get out of here.’ They burned all the papers and wiped the sigils off the wall. Then Balthazar teleported all of them back to Bobby’s house.

The Future - Castiel Imagine (Supernatural)
Tumblr media
Title: The Future
Pairing: Castiel X Child!Reader (18)
Word Count: 4,168 words
Warning(s): canonical violence, cussing, killing
Summary: (Season 12, Episode 19) The story of Cas and (Y/n) tracking down Kelly Kline, who is now trapped with Dagon.
Author's Note: Hey, there's a scene here that I'm gonna use for a parallel later. Try to figure out which one and remember it. It's very important.
MORE ABOUT THIS OC HERE
Hey! I did a rewrite of the ending of Supernatural. It took a really long time to complete, so it would mean a lot to me if you check it out. Here’s a link! (it’s on my personal account)
-------------------------------
Cas told me that he was working with Heaven almost as soon as I joined forces with him. The plan seemed easy enough. Track down the child with the help of the angels and then he gets welcomed back.
I didn't mind the plan.
He had sacrificed so much for the brothers and me that it felt natural to help him. I wanted to be there to help him.
It scared me less than his next idea when the angels gave him no leads.
When Cas told me that we needed to go back to the bunker, my heart stopped for a second.
I didn't want to go back. I didn't want to see Sam and Dean again. At least, not yet.
"(Y/n)," Cas sighed. "They're our best option. Heaven has given us nothing and we both know that going at this alone won't work."
I looked down at the ground.
"You won't have to talk to them," he offered. "You can give them the cold shoulder all you want. You just have to go."
I looked at him again before finally nodding. He pulled me into a hug, and I relaxed a little bit.
"Thank you."
Now, I found myself walking into the bunker for the first time in weeks. Sam and Dean were in the map room together, looking over a bunch of strange symbols.
"Cas, (Y/n)," Sam stood up from his spot.
"Hello," Cas said.
"You both are alright," he added as Cas and I made it down the stairs.
"Where the hell have you been," Dean asked.
I looked down.
I knew coming back here was going to spark an argument. This was an awful idea.
"And why have you ignored our phone calls," he continued.
"The reception where I was, was... poor," Cas shrugged.
"No bars... No bars. That's his excuse, wow," Dean muttered. "What's your excuse, kid?"
"You should've called."
If Dean wanted to be pissy and cold with me, I would play the same exact game with him. He knew damn well why I had left. I didn't have to explain it again. He made his choice and I made mine.
"You're kidding-"
"No, I'm not," I cut him off. "You didn't call me, Dean. Neither one of you did. Genius choice on your part."
"You didn't call (Y/n)," Sam asked.
I turned to look at Sam, but I didn't get a chance to question him.
"Where the hell were you," Dean asked, turning the attention away from himself.
"I was in heaven," Cas explained. "I was working with the angels. When I saw Dagon had captured Kelly, I thought they could help. (Y/n) knew this and tried to help from Earth."
"And," Sam asked.
"Nothing," he shook his head. I looked down.
"Well, you're back... for now," Sam forced a grin. "We're glad your back."
"Really," Dean looked at his brother.
I can't say that I was stunned that Sam was the one trying to keep the peace. I knew that Dean was more angry than anything else. Sam already seemed to be in a state of guilt.
Sam's fake grin fell.
"No," Dean shook his head. "Okay, 'cause while you were striking out in Heaven, we had a shot at Dagon, and we lost."
"I... received your messages."
"Dagon's a knight of hell," I jumped in. "Y'know, eyes are yellow instead of black. Cas couldn't have stopped her. We've seen him try before and he nearly died. Two more bodies wouldn't have done shit."
"You weren't only ditching us, you two were ignoring us."
"You only called Cas."
"Watch it-"
"No," I snapped. "Are you kidding me? You haven't earned an ounce of my patience. Your first choice was to start blaming us for something that we couldn't have helped with. Nice to know my assumptions about coming back were accurate."
"(Y/n)," I yanked my arm from Cas's hand as he tried to stop me.
"I'm gonna go wait in the car," I muttered. "I... I knew this was a bad idea."
"(Y/n), get your ass back here and talk to me," Dean shouted.
"Once you pull your head out of your ass, maybe I fucking will," I yelled back.
I stormed back out to the truck and curled up in the passenger seat. I didn't want to, but I started crying. Sobbing. I was a kid. A scared, 18-year-old kid. I wanted nothing more than the person I saw as a dad back. And I couldn't have that because he insisted on throwing a wall up between us.
I would've kept my mouth shut. I would've walked in, listened to them, and left. But I couldn't do it. I couldn't listen to Dean act like all Cas and I did was fail.
I looked up when the driver's side of the truck opened.
"Oh no," Cas mumbled when he saw my face. "Dean... Dean was worried. He reacted out of anger-"
"I know."
"He still cares-"
"I know."
"He just wants to know you're safe-"
"Can we just go," I asked. "I don't want to be here right now. I feel like I'm gonna vomit."
We took off again.
"I promised to keep in touch," Cas explained.
I nodded.
I fell asleep soon after. I hadn't been sleeping much in the hopes of finding some kind of alternative plan to killing Kelly. Or just a plan to track her in general.
I just needed to feel useful.
Cas woke me up outside of a run-down house.
"Joshua tracked a celestial pulse to this house," Cas explained. "Kelly's here."
I nodded, "Okay."
I got out of the track and pulled out the angel blade I had been given.
I circled around the back of the house with Cas. He pointed toward a staircase heading to a basement. I nodded, ignoring the TV playing. I hadn't been told that there had been two other angels following behind us.
I climbed down the stairs.
Kelly jumped when she saw me. I quickly pressed a finger to my lips. She nodded. I walked over and checked the chain on her ankle.
"Okay," I muttered. "Normal lock. I can... probably pick it. Are you okay?"
"They saved me," she explained quickly. I furrowed my eyebrows. "My kid. They saved me."
"We'll... discuss that later."
We both jumped at the crashing upstairs. I saw Cas come down the stairs even though there was still fighting upstairs.
I stood up and stepped to the side, thinking that he would do better getting rid of the lock.
Then, I saw the Colt... and Cas cocked it.
"Woah," I stepped between Cas and Kelly. "What the hell, Cas? When did you even grab that?"
"It's the only way," he replied.
"You never mentioned anything about killing," I replied. "When was this even involved in the plan?"
"The whole time."
"What?"
"The angels can't allow the child to be brought into this world," Cas argued. I just stared at him in shock. "I told you I was working with heaven. I didn't lie to you about that."
"No, you just lied to me about their true goal," I snapped. "That's a shit ton better."
Cas clenched his jaw.
"Put the gun down, Cas," I said. "No one is born as pure evil. You have to understand that."
He looked from me to Kelly.
"You know damn well that I am not going to move."
He looked at me again.
I wish I could've seen what was going through his head in that moment. I wanted to know what his pros and cons list looked like. I was forcing him to either hurt- possibly, kill me- or go against heaven's plans yet again.
His arm slowly moved down. I let out a breath.
"Come on," I said. "We have time to get her out of here if we're quick."
We managed to get Kelly into the truck and drive off.
It was awkward and quiet. The truck didn't really have a backseat, so it was cramped on top of all of that.
"Guess you finally caught me," Kelly muttered after a while.
"We're trying to help you," I said. She forced a grin toward me. "You don't deserve to be tortured because of what happened."
"Cas came to kill me," she replied. She looked at him. "But you didn't... thank you."
"Please don't thank me," Cas muttered. "I had a mission and I failed."
"And now?"
"Now, I don't know," he replied. "I'm just trying to put as much distance between you and Dagon as I can."
We didn't stop until we absolutely had to. Which was the next morning.
It was a tiny motel. Off the main road. Should've been safe.
Cas stepped out of the truck to take care of something on the angel radio.
"You said the kid saved you," I said. "So... you believe the kid is good."
Kelly looked down at her stomach with a fond smile, "Yeah. I really do."
A few moments later, Cas got back in the truck.
"What's going on," Kelly asked.
"I was communicating with Joshua," he explained. "He's an angel... I was getting my orders."
"Why should we be listening to heaven," I asked. "I'm sorry but they have screwed us over time and time again-"
"They are the only reason we found Kelly-"
"And nearly made you kill her," I snapped.
"And now, I will take Kelly to Heaven," Cas continued before looking at Kelly. "Your life will end, and your baby's, too-"
"No-"
"(Y/n)-"
"No, we are not killing an innocent child."
"How do you know it'll work," Kelly asked.
"No human form can step through that gate and survive," Cas said. "Your souls will ascend to heaven and every cell of your beings will return to the universe. I am sorry, Kelly. This is the child of Lucifer. A human/archangel hybrid. That power... it's beyond comprehension. Your child could bring the universe to its knees."
"Or lift it to its feet," she argued. "This baby... nothing is born evil."
"I can't take that chance," Cas sighed. "(Y/n)..."
"If Kelly believes that this baby can be taught to be good... I trust her."
He tried to start the truck again. It stalled.
He let out another sigh, "I'll get us a room."
Once we had the room safe and locked down, Cas made sure Kelly sat down on the bed. I went to plug in my phone only to find it missing.
"Cas," I asked as he handed Kelly a glass of water. "Where's my phone?"
"I don't know," he furrowed his eyebrows. "Did you leave it in the truck?"
"No, I thought it was zipped up in this pocket of my bag," I muttered.
"I have no idea," he shook his head.
I didn't quite believe him but shrugged it off. I wanted to trust Cas. I needed to feel like I could trust Cas.
"Something happened to me, Castiel," Kelly spoke up. "I lost hope. I tried to... I killed myself. Slit my wrists."
Cas and I looked at each other for a moment.
"I died," she continued. "And then... my child saved me. Brought me back to life."
"That was the pulse that was tracked," I said.
"We felt that in heaven," Cas nodded.
"My child's power... their soul surged through me... and it was good," she explained. "I know my kid is good."
I sat down next to her.
"Kelly," Cas shook his head as he walked over. "What your child did, that's a testament to their power, but it's not proof of some goodness. They need you alive."
"Maybe," she replied. "Or maybe it was a miracle. Maybe everything I've been through. Everything that I still have to go through... is happening for a reason. Maybe it's part of some plan."
"No, it isn't," Cas sat on the opposite bed. "I used to believe in a plan. That I had some mission. But I have been through enough now to know that everyone is just winging it. Some of us badly. Lucifer... he's just breaking toys. He's sowing destruction and chaos, and there is no grand purpose at work. And there's no special role for you. When Lucifer took over Rooney's body... I'm sorry. You were just there."
She ignored him, "I know my baby can be good for this world."
"Cas," I asked. I nodded toward the bathroom. "Can we talk?"
He stood up and followed me. It was the most private, but it was the best option we had.
"I hope you aren't going to push me to apologize," he said.
"No," I mumbled. "I just... you said there's no great plan... so why follow Heaven's?"
"You don't want to go to the door-"
"Of course, I don't."
"Why are you so adamant on saving this child," Cas asked.
"I... I really don't know," I replied. "Something is just telling me to protect this kid. I... I can't just sit by while we decide their fate without giving an ounce of hope that they could be good."
"Castiel," Kelly called. He walked back over and sat across from her again.
"Kelly," he sighed. "If this child is born... that is not something you can survive. Even if you're right... who will care for them after you're gone? Who? Who is strong enough to protect them and keep them from evil influences and to keep them on the righteous path?"
"We'll figure that out," I said. She smiled at me. I grinned back. She grunted. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, the baby just kicked," she waved me off. She looked at Castiel. "Do you wanna...?"
"No-"
"It's not a big deal," she insisted. "They do this, like, twenty times a day."
She grabbed Cas's hand and pressed his palm to her stomach. I saw a grin creep onto his face as he felt the baby kicking. Kelly's eyes started turning gold a moment later. She gasped.
"Kelly," Cas asked. She shook her head.
There was a knock on the door. I grabbed my angel blade. Cas grabbed the Colt- which only had one bullet in it, but hey, let him live.
He pulled open the door to show Sam and Dean on the other side. I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah... that's mine," Dean nodded at the gun.
Dean grabbed Cas and shoved him against the wall. I went over to Kelly, reaching out a hand to her and forcing a grin.
"Dean," Sam interrupts Dean's lecture to Cas.
"What," Dean asked.
"Dean!"
They were both looking over at me and Kelly. As they stepped forward, I held up the angel blade. Sam held his hands up. I slowly lowered the weapon when no one made a move. Kelly let go of my hand and stepped forward.
"How did you find us," Cas asked.
"Well, while you were scamming me for the Colt, Sam put a tracking app on your phone," Dean explained. "We used that when we couldn't track (Y/n)'s."
"Mine got stolen," I said. "Probably by whatever bitchass angel met us at Dagon's hiding spot."
"You two wanna explain what's going on here," Sam looked between us. "Is Dagon dead?"
"No," Cas sighed.
They scoffed.
"Hey, you two had the same weapon and couldn't do it either," I snapped.
"What are we doing here then?"
"My truck broke down," Cas admitted quietly.
"Why didn't you call us then," Sam said. "We could've helped you."
"I know," Cas replied. "I wanted to keep you out of this. I wanted to keep you safe."
"You're not a babysitter, Cas, okay," Dean sassed. "That is not your job. And when in our whole lives have we ever been safe?"
"This is my responsibility because it is my plan."
"And you dragged (Y/n) into."
"Check the high-horse, Dean," I said. He looked at me. "Don't act like you don't know."
"What plan," Sam asked.
"Cas is taking me to Heaven," Kelly explained. I closed my eyes and tilted my head down.
"You're taking her to the sandbox," Dean looked at Cas.
"Yes," he replied. "I'm ending this, once and for all. Kelly and her baby have to die."
"No, they don't," Sam jumped in. "Listen, we found another way."
"You'd know that if you answered your phone," Dean snarked.
"What are you talking about," Cas asked.
"Remember when we tried to extract Gadreel's grace from (Y/n) for a tracking spell," Sam explained. I scrunched up my face; hell yeah.
"What," Kelly whispered.
"I was possessed by an angel when I was 15," I mumbled.
"15?"
Sam ignored us, "We take the grace from the baby Nephilim and then the baby just becomes-"
"Human," Cas finished the thought. "That extraction nearly killed (Y/n)."
"But it didn't-"
"Because I stopped it," Cas snapped. "We don't even know if this would work."
"There are kinks, yes, but it's a plan," Dean said. "And it beats the hell out of certain death. Am I right?"
"No," Kelly said, going to storm out.
"What," I asked, following her.
Sam was right behind me, "Kelly, I can't imagine what you've gone through, but we promised we'd find another way, and we did. This is a better way. This could work."
"I'm going with Castiel."
"Kelly," I stepped in front of her, walking backward as I did. "This might be a way to save you and your baby."
"But my child losses what makes them special," she replied.
"How does that matter if both of you are dead," Sam asked.
"That's all that matters," she said.
"This girl has lost her mind," Dean argued.
"Hey, Dean," Cas told him off.
"Can we take this conversation elsewhere," Sam begged. "We're sitting ducks out here."
"Sam's right," Dean nodded. "Dagon's still out there. Your truck is broken down. Let's get in the impala, go back to the bunker, and we'll talk. Figure it out."
"Right," Sam agreed.
I looked at Cas. He grabbed Kelly's arm and started walking to the car. I followed the two of them.
Wanna know a bad choice?
Put the angry pregnant woman in the front seat with the keys sitting next to her while Cas and I sat in the back.
Why was that a bad choice?
Because once Cas and I were settled, Kelly slowly reached over, snagged the car key, and stole the impala.
We screeched out of the parking lot, and she sped off quickly. She paid no mind to Sam and Dean yelling at her.
"Kelly, what the hell are you doing," I asked.
"It's not supposed to happen this way," she explained. "I'm going to Heaven. The... sandbox, if you tell me how to get there."
"I can make you stop this car," Cas threatened.
"Why haven't you," she asked.
"Why are you doing this," Cas pushed.
"My child chose you, Castiel," she said. "When you put your hand on my stomach, I heard them. They spoke to me. They told me that even if it's scary, if I just went to the gate, if I followed your plan, that you would make sure they were born. You and (Y/n)."
Always nice to be included.
I looked at Cas, searching for some kind of reaction.
"Sam and Dean want to take away my kid's powers because they're scared," she continued. "I'm not."
"Kelly-"
She cut Cas off, "You asked me who would protect them; guide them when I'm gone. I know now. It's you."
"Me? That's... I... I am not someone that you should put your faith in, Kelly."
"(Y/n) will be there too," Kelly reminded him. "They're... They're linked."
I didn't get a chance to question that.
"I couldn't kill Dagon back there," Cas tried to push that he shouldn't be trusted. "I lost two of my men. I've betrayed my friends... my family."
"Before all of this happened, I was a cut-rate political flack," she continued, "in an embarrassingly unprofessional relationship with my boss. I don't know why it's me. I don't know why it's you two. But I know that we're destined for something here. Something great."
"I wish I had your faith," Cas muttered.
"You will," she replied.
We got to the sandbox by nightfall.
As we walked up to the gate, I felt a growing pit in my stomach. This entire plan made me sick, but there was something else. Something else was here that wasn't supposed to be.
"We can still go back," I offered. "You don't have to do this."
"I know you don't approve," Kelly grabbed my hand. "But this is the best choice. I need you to trust me on this."
I shook my head, "No."
She sighed, "Thank you. For all that you've done. You're far too young to have had to deal with any of this."
I stepped back as she and Cas got ready to go. The symbol started glowing as Joshua appeared in front of us.
He attempted to reassure Kelly but didn't get much of a chance before he exploded in front of us. Dagon appeared behind him. Cas pulled Kelly back. I stepped forward to stand by them.
When Dagon went to move toward Kelly, Cas stepped in front of us.
"Stay away from her," Cas snapped.
"What, no Colt," Dagon asked. "Wait... you don't even have it anymore? Hilarious."
Cas went to stab her, but she caught his arm effectively disarming him before taking a few swings at him.
I grabbed my blade and tried to help, but she grabbed me quickly, slamming my back down on the ground. Her foot rested on my chest as I tried to get my breath back.
"What a dumb kid," she said. "Look at you... about to die for a woman you've barely just met. Your dads would be so disappointed."
I used my blade to slash her leg, giving myself the opportunity to stand and run to Kelly.
She kept hitting Cas. As she tried to strangle him, the truck pulled up. Sam got out and started to shoot. Dagon dropped Cas's body before turning to face Sam. Kelly grabbed my arm, pulling me back a few steps.
Cas slowly stood as she attacked Sam and Dean, managing to get the Colt from Dean's hand.
"Yeah," she said. "Time to take this off the board."
She burned the gun in her hand.
"Who wants ice cream," she joked.
Cas made his way to us, telling Kelly to run. She shook her head and grabbed his hand. I stood next to them. I wasn't going to run. Not when both of them were willing to stand against her.
"Aw, adorbs," Dagon pretended to gush.
I looked over when I heard a power surge. Cas's veins slowly started to glow yellow; starting in his hand and moving toward his face.
When Dagon went to attack, he just grabbed his wrist. I took a step back just as she burned in front of us.
As the power faded from Cas's face, we all just looked at each other. Sam and Dean slowly walked over.
"Cas," Dean asked.
"What was that," Sam asked.
"It... It was me," Cas answered. "But it was also..."
He nodded down at the child.
He healed Dean's broken arm.
"Thank you for coming to fight for us," Cas thanked the brothers.
"Are you okay," Dean furrowed his eyebrows.
Cas nodded, "I am. I've been so lost. I'm not lost anymore. And I know now that this child must be born."
I bit back my grin.
"With all of their power."
Grin dropped just a bit. That would kill Kelly too.
"You can't mean that," Sam said.
"Yes, I do," Cas nodded. "I have faith."
Kelly grinned at me. I grabbed her hand. If this is what she wanted, I needed to respect that. No matter how much I wanted her to change her mind.
I followed Cas and Kelly toward the truck.
"Cas, wait a second," Sam stopped us. "What's going on?"
"You'll just have to trust me," Cas said.
"No, no, no, wait," Dean shook his head. "Okay, whatever that thing did to you, we're not just gonna let you walk away."
"Not gonna happen."
"Yes, it is."
He touched their foreheads and the brothers fell.
He went to touch mine and I jumped back.
"I am going with you," I said. "I... I need to go with you. I can't... I can't stay with them, Cas. Not right now."
Cas let out a sigh before nodding.
"Thank you," I nodded once before heading toward the truck.
We loaded into the single row of seats again. There was a pause.
"What did they tell you," Kelly asked, referring to whatever Cas saw when defeating Dagon.
"They didn't tell me anything... they showed me," he replied. "The future."
All I could do was hope. Please, let us be right about this. Let this risk be worth it. Please, just... let this work out for the better.
Please let this "future" be worth every ounce of turmoil in the present.

Author's Note: I struggled with this one. I have to keep reminding myself that teenagers are impulsive as shit and make dumb choices no matter what. Not every action needs to be logical. I'm trying to make a human character, not a perfect one.

Hellsite Nostalgia Tour 2023 Day 237
Our Little World/Xmas Special
“Our Little World”
Plot Description: a teen who’s lost her souls leads Dean to Crowley and a fast-growing Amara. Castiel sees an old acquaintance on TV, stuck in an earthly body
Would I Survive the First Five Minutes??: No one died…that we saw
Yeah, bet that won’t come to bite you in the ass, Crowley. “You’re strong, but I’m stronger” “…for now” how do you ground the Darkness and not think that that’s gonna come back around some day.
Oh good. Misha’s done with whatever he was up to that prevented him from being here.
Did Dean just tell Cas to go touch grass? He’s not wrong. My boy is looking rough, and all he has done is watch TV
Ok. So it took an extra episode for the Lizzie Borden fanatic to die ☹️
Oh. Oh, Cassy. He’s been watching reruns of trash tv to stave off his thoughts and memories 😭
The look, the horrible dawning realization that he’s found Metatron, and Metatron’s working as a camera operator for the news
I know this wallpaper. This is the wallpaper from the Changing Channels episode
We’re back to exorcising demons?? Wellllllllll maybe not
It’s important that a growing teen learn some good cat memes
I’ve been checking out the lamps in hell, and they are really nice. There are a bunch of like art nouveau shades, they’re gorgeous
Omg he’s not even doing it for the news, he’s like a tragedy paparazzi. He might even be orchestrating it
Man, if this old asylum is where Crowley’s been hanging out or has an entrance to hell…it REALLY shows how much wreckage Amara caused in the demon ranks
I’m glad that SOMEONE ELSE has addressed the fact that every time someone mentions (or I type) the Darkness, I feel like we’re talking about the band for a second…I do wish it was someone other than Metatron
I mean, maybe don’t bait Cas into hitting you, Mets
Sure, Crowley, we’ll call what you and Dean had BROmance
Yeah, i guess that when the Darkness said “we’ll always help each other” or something like that, it cuts both ways. It’s not just a threat to Dean. She’ll protect him too…or she’s just mad at Crowley. I dunno
I’ll piece together what the parallels of Cas and Sam’s fights mean at some point, especially since Cas had to be baited into fighting and then really went on the offensive and ends up not killing Metatron while Sam goes in looking for a fight, tries to be a pacifist, and ends up killing a few demons. Cas was also having visions back at the bunker and Sam…well, he’s having them now
The indignity of having to keep your phone charged IS rough, Metatron, I know…
I AM UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE ENERGY WE’VE BROUGHT INTO HELL TODAY. Amara is very in love with Dean (who on this show isn’t?)
What is the lore in this show?!?! The Darkness is god’s SISTER??? (I can’t believe we’re getting this reveal when I’m so close to season 4 of Sherlock)
Why are you getting visions of the cage, Sammy??
“Xmas Special”
Plot Description: the Doctor and Clara are trapped on an arctic base and their only hope is Santa Claus!
Oh good, I waited til really late to watch another long dw episode
These elves are so mean to her!!
What a brilliant time for the Doctor to show up, seconds after Clara tells the very real Santa that she stopped believing in fairy tales
Is Santa a time lord? His sack of toys is obviously bigger on the inside…
You know what gets me about shows and movies that are meant to be for families that discuss the existence of Santa? And this might be a more recent phenomenon. But aside from the weird mechanics of adults who don’t believe in Santa still somehow finding presents under the tree from Santa on Christmas morning because of course he exists in this universe….but you’re also showing these shows to your like 5 year old who’s just learned through watching that there comes a time you stop believing in Santa even though they’re only now at an age where they can recognize Santa. It’s just weird and I have no idea if that paragraph made sense
Wtf is going on at this arctic base? Why can’t she look or think about these beings in the infirmary??
Ah damn…the Doctor and Clara fucked it up for these people. Whatever they were tying to accomplish, they just BARGE IN
LOW BLOW, DOC! You can’t bring up Danny, and you REALLY can’t insinuate that he’d be cheating on Clara. It’s too soon for her and it’ll pretty much always be too soon for her
Omg they’re really are gonna get saved by Santa…..he just sent an army of toys into this base
I’m usually not a huge fan of how Santa gets depicted in Christmas specials (not in a “this doesn’t fit my headcanon” but more in a “he’s just uninteresting” way) but this one’s at least a little fun and interesting.
I really think he’s a time lord
…I forgot they didn’t know they lied to each other…I forgot they lied to each other at the end of the last episode
I do love that they keep saying Twelve looks like a magician
He’s got a point…it would definitely be offensive, as an extraterrestrial, to find out we have a horror movie called Alien. Then again, we have a lot of horror movies named a lot of things, so…anyway “no wonder you keep getting invaded” is a good reaction
Ah, fuck. The Dream Crab got Clara.
I know this is the Doctor trying to save her, but in this perfect dream world, it’s super jarring to see the hallway walls turn into chalkboards with “DYING!” written all over them
Oh good. The Doctor has come to actually save her….excuse me?? He let himself get taken by the Dream Crabs too??
Huh…so the only way to kill them is to reject the dream
THEY DID AN INCEPTION?? The Doctor and Clara were in a dream but everyone’s been in a dream since the beginning? Since they all got into the infirmary??
He’s so against any real touchy freely stuff, and I am forever living for that
…nah, there’s still 18 more minutes. How…I don’t like this existential crisis they’re giving me “no one ever knows they’re not dreaming m. Not ever. Not for one second of our lives” don’t do that to my brain. Please
Stop physically reaching out to them!! What is wrong with you people?!
Have we really circled back to Santa’s real?? We spent a bunch of time proving he wasn’t real in the last dream, and he still might not be because this is still another dream but who knows??
This girl has an interesting Christmas itinerary. She’s gonna watch Alien and The Thing From Another World before her dad comes around. Then she’ll watch Miracle on 34th Street before what I can only imagine is a Game of Thrones marathon…and last “forgive Dave???”…which she’s somehow apparently already done that last one
Please tell me this isn’t yet another dream. What??? It’s been 62 years since they’ve seen each other??? It was another dream. When did Steven Moffat watch Inception? Did he wait four years? Because the number of levels of the dream were just too much. And then the tangerine at the end, like the spinning top.

Suptober Day 1: Harvest
wc: 1.7k tags: fluff with the side of tiny case fic, established relationship, spoilers but cw they are drugged with cider,
It was a long hunt. One that they accepted as their last one, but, of course, they can never sit still enough not to take an easy local hunt. By local, he means a two-day trip away, but still, they saved a couple of old folks from a ghost, which was fun. Dean sure enjoyed getting thrown around until Cas finally burned the dentures.
Like he said, long hunt.
They stayed at a nice little Airbnb overnight. During breakfast, their waitress told them of the Harvest Festival a town over. Cas was still a little bruised up, but Dean convinced him to go, at least to try their famous apple cider.
“We’ll make a day of it! Just me and you.” With that, Cas agreed, taking Dean’s waiting hand across the table.
The festival was lively when they arrived in the afternoon, with more people than they expected considering the small town they were in but apparently when they say famous they meant it. The tents lined up with food from funnel cakes, donuts, chicken, and some pumpkin spice beer that Dean chugged down even though it tasted like shit.
They eventually ended up with bags filled with treats and souvenirs to take home to the kids--Sam and Eileen fall into the kids’ category. They each held a bag while Dean held Cas’ hand tight in his own, dragging him around from seller to seller, buying and tasting as he went.
“We should start heading home, or soon you’ll be too full to drive.” Cas teased as Dean finished off their bag of apple crisps. “You think we’re feeding an army.”
“Considering how Jack eats, we might as well be.”
“He gets that from you, you know.”
They continued their banter as they made their way out of the festival and to the parking lot.
Then they were stopped by a woman wearing a volunteer pumpkin shirt, “Aw, leaving so soon? Don’t ya wanna stay for the fireworks?”
That quickly took Dean’s attention, brightening up his whole face so much that once again, Cas couldn’t find it in himself to refuse. Instead, earning himself a small kiss on the cheek as a thank you before being was dragged to the car to drop off their items.
Once back in the festival, they walked around until another volunteer told them about the amazing view of the fireworks at the middle of the corn maze.
“It’s a small maze, but in the middle is a little hill. So it’s usually first-come, first-serve. But I haven’t heard of anyone taking it as of now.”
Once again, Dean was easily hooked in and took Cas along for the ride. Not that he was complaining. He enjoyed watching Dean get excited over small things, things he wouldn’t have permitted himself to get excited for before. Of course, it helped when Dean hooked his arm around Cas’s waist to tug him close, whispering, “Ever kissed someone in a corn maze, Cas?”
“You know I haven’t, Dean.”
That did it for Cas. A promise of a spectacular kiss that will put the fireworks to shame.
At the entrance of the maze stood a cider cart, and Cas made a beeline for it. “I at least wanna be warm if you are going to make me walk around in the cold.”
“On the house.” The saleswoman winked at them, and something uneasy passed through them, but they ignored it as she motioned them to go right on in that the fireworks should be starting soon.
They took their hot cider and walked right in, taking hold of their hands as they walked through the maze in comforting silence. Watching the sky above them change from orange and pinks to the dark night sky.
When the maze opened up to a clearing, Dean started to run—taking the small space on top. It was tall enough to see over the cornstalk and watch the lights twinkle from the festival up ahead. They could even see groups of people exiting the maze from their left, and for a second, Dean wondered why they didn’t run into anybody on their walkover. It looked like a lot of people were going through the maze, but nobody passed them.
That thought was quickly dismissed as the first firework lit up the sky, cheers from the crowd echoed the loud boom, and Dean felt secure with an arm hooking around his shoulders to bring him in closer. So they sat there watching the firework show and polishing off their now cold cider until Cas couldn’t wait another second.
Gently, he turned Dean’s face just enough so they could start the kiss slowly. The snap crackle pop of the fireworks above their heads just kept lighting up the fuse between them until Cas asked for them to find another place to spend the night.
“Should we go now?” Dean kissed down Cas’s jaw, feeling the hastily nods instead of seeing it. “Okay. Okay, let’s go.”
They both stood up and took one last look at the view before they got down. Turning left, where they were sure they saw the other folks exit from before. Every few steps, they pulled each other for another kiss-- smiling into them like giddy newlyweds--until they started to realize they’ve been walking for way too long.
The fireworks had long been over, and they soon realized it was their only source of light. It soon became so hard to see anything that they didn’t dare let go of each other’s hands. They tried to go back to the hill to see if maybe they could see the trail from there, but it was like it never existed in the first place.
“Fuck!” They turned the corner to find another dead-end. “Isn’t this shit for children!”
“You know we haven’t seen or heard anyone in a while. Not since-”
“We came in here. I know. I was thinking the same thing earlier when we were on the hill.”
“Why didn’t you say anything then?”
“Cause you stuck your tongue in my mouth and impending doom took a backseat.”
They started to run, calling out for help as they did, but it only felt like they were going in circles.
Then Dean yelled, “Hallelujah!” When a flashlight shined into their faces.
“There you two are. It’s time to go.” The old man sounded so relieved to find them. He didn’t look sinister. He didn’t even make it sound like they were gone for that long. “You two okay?”
“Yeah. Yeah. We got lost, I guess.” Dean shrugged, watching as Cas stared ahead of him.
“Many people do. But they always find their way out, though.”
They followed the man out of the maze while Dean’s knuckles brushed alongside Cas’. They were listening to the man recite a memory when suddenly Cas tugged at Dean’s arm.
“Dean.” It was a shocking gasp.
“Cas?” Dean turned around to watch; Cas’s eyes rolled to the back of his head before dropping like a ragdoll. “Cas!”
And just like that, Cas was out to the world.
Dean fell to his knees to take Cas into his arms, but it was useless. He was heavy, and Dean’s body was starting to tingle, his muscles becoming weaker with every passing second.
“Don’t you worry about your little friend.” The man flashed his light on Dean’s face. Blinding him, but Dean kept glaring up at him. “Just like you, he won’t feel a thing.”
“What did you do to him?” He tried to growl, but it came out too breathless for it to be threatening.
“Same thing we did to you. Same thing we do every year to a couple of tourists.”
Dean could feel himself slipping out of consciousness, but he kept trying to shield Cas from whatever was coming.
“Don’t fight it, boy.” The man walked over to him, raising his flashlight high above his head. “Hate it when they struggle.”
And with a single hit, Dean was knocked out. Falling over Cas. Hoping that at least he gets killed first this time around.
Dean woke up again when he felt someone kicking his legs with little to no effort. His arms were numb, and he realized it was because they were pulled back and tied around some huge boulder.
“Dean?”
Dean recognized the voice and happily groaned out a complaint. “Hate small towns. Creeps. All of them.”
Cas chuckled in relief. “Glad you’re okay.”
Dean blinked a couple of times before his eyes focused, looking across from him to find Cas in the same position as him. Cas looked dirty, a few scratches on his face from being dragged, which made Dean furious—tugging at the ropes that hold him back from checking for any more injuries.
“Fuck! Shit! You okay? They hurt you?”
“Not as much as they did you.” Dean didn’t feel much pain besides the stretch on his shoulders and a raging headache. “I guess that’s not true. You have a swell on your head.”
“Yeah, well, I went down swinging. Unlike you.” Cas didn’t look amused, but he looked concerned. Dean followed his gaze, looking for an explanation or a way out. “I guess we’re either bait or dinner.”
“I’m used to being bait.”
“And I’m used to being dinner. Well, aren’t we a match made in heaven?” This time Cas glared, and weirdly enough, it made Dean relax a little. “Okay, so what’s the plan?”
The plan was simple, while Cas may not be a full-powered-up angel, he was still an angel. And he was stronger than an average human. So with a little more force, Cas had his arms free, rubbing his wrist while shrugging at Dean, “I always see humans do this.”
“Yeah, cause it hurts, so if you can just-” Dean motioned for his arms and Cas quickly reached to untie him. Then, when they were both free, they once again started to look around the empty cornfield. “I say leave now and call for backup; come back in the morning.”
“Considering we have no weapons, I think that would be for the best.”
“So much for date night.” Dean took Cas’s hand, and they quickly started to get themselves out of there. Running like maniacs as they pushed through the endless corn.
“I actually enjoyed myself today. You know, before the whole being drugged and left for dead part.”
“Really? That was my favorite part.” Dean joked, squeezing Cas’s hand as they made their way to safety. “You think all the stuff we bought was drugged?”
“Won’t stop me from having another donut.”
“Man, I love you.”

Let's talk about Supernatural 15x07, "Last Call."
Or as I like to call it, "the episode that makes me go feral because it tells us so much about Dean's sexuality, character, and arc."
YES others have written meta! YES I will talk about it myself for the satisfaction! I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
This post was originally a thread on Twitter and I am crossposting it to my blog.
Alt image IDs are included in that linked Twitter thread!
Join me on this journey.
Tumblr media
What's the context of this episode? Dean's been kind of down/depressed, feeling hopeless in the face of the idea that they have to defeat God (and not really working towards that goal much), and he's mid-divorce with Cas. He goes out on this solo case to try to clear his head.
And he ends up at Swayze's Bar.
Look, there are many things to be said about this. Dean loves Patrick Swayze. Arguably has a CRUSH on Swayze. It's very tied up in Dean pretending not to like "chick flicks" but he secretly does, which is queer coding. This was a Choice™️.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Choices™️: professional actors made many here. Deliberately.
Dean is smacked on the ass by a woman and then Lee smacks him on the ass too. Dean and Lee CONSTANTLY have physical familiarity and fond eye contact. I will limit myself to 1 paragraph about this lest I list it all.
Tumblr media
My point is that I just really need every person to digest and accept the fact that this is textually bi Dean. Not subtext; it's TEXT.
Dean and Lee had a relationship. Their history is alluded to in touch and in words. They had an orgy together. Dean's bisexuality is not repressed.
Tumblr media
It's also now canon that Dean tries to hide that he can sing well. Most people don't know (like Sam) but some do (Lee). Hence "Eye of the Tiger" callback.
And so: that's also the implication for his sexuality. Dean singing ON STAGE with bi lighting is him being ready to be Out.
Tumblr media
They dedicated an entire half an ep at minimum to emphasizing he's bi... and to Dean having a conversation with someone he (initially) trusts about potentially having a break from hunting, and what that could mean.
LEE: You're chasing missing persons, huh? I thought you'd be on to something bigger by now, like the Loch Ness Monster... Bigfoot.
DEAN: Trust me, uh, bigger doesn't always equal better. Besides, who's gonna look out after the little guy? God certainly isn't.
LEE: Damn, brother, that's dark.
DEAN: Yeah, it's been a rough, uh... it's been a rough decade, Lee.
LEE: Yeah.
DEAN: But that's a conversation for a different time, 'cause this, this right here, this is all right.
LEE: Well, I'm glad you approve. This is nothing you can't have, man.
DEAN: Oh, come on. Who's gonna kill the bad guys?
LEE: Somebody else. Dean, how many lives you think you saved, huh? Hundreds? Thousands? You deserve a break, bro. Hell, you might even deserve two.
"But Lee turns out to be a villain!" some might say. "Isn't the point that giving up hunting is bad?"
Nope.
Lee's a DARK MIRROR for Dean. He exists to exhibit the truths behind Dean's desires, and then what they'd look like if they turned bad. Take it from him: "I am you."
Tumblr media
There are LAYERS here. You can't focus on the dark side and ignore the truths that take place in the (often bi) light.
The singing? The conversations about taking a break? Throwing men out of the bar, which is framed heroically? "Road House rules" (another Choice™️)?
Tumblr media
NONE of that was bad. It shows what Dean wants.
Things only get bad–literally and visually–when Dean's tied up as Lee suddenly says wrong things in the dark.
The contrast exists to show that maintaining Goodness is a choice, and Dean would have no problem upholding that.
LEE: It's called a marid. It's a freaky-looking little thing, isn't it? [Lee laughs, and Dean stares at him, incredulous] Ah. As long as you feed it, it gives you money, it gives you health, everything you dreamed of.
DEAN: And so, what, it just costs innocent lives?
LEE: Dean, you and I both know no one's innocent. After everything we've done, aren't... aren't we owed a little happiness, huh? Don't we deserve that much?
DEAN: Listen to yourself. "We're owed." "We deserve." Come on, man. You're not God. Hell, God's not even God.
LEE: Good or bad... the world doesn't care. No one cares, Dean.
DEAN: Well, I do.
LEE: Yeah. And that's what got you here. Now, takes a while to drain a man, but listen to me. Don't worry about it, all right? Don't worry because once you lose a couple of pints, you just fall asleep, and then it'll be over.
[Lee pats Dean on the shoulder]
DEAN: Lee.
LEE: This... this is not how I wanted this to go, Dean. When that blonde girl walked in here last night, I should've know, you know, Dean Winchester, the righter of wrongs, you were gonna keep digging, and you were gonna figure me out. And if it's got to be you or me, well, I got to pick me, man.
"No one cares, Dean."
"Well, I do."
It's a reminder to himself as much as it is to Lee. It's a re-centering of purpose that he sorely needs.
And what's also key? Lee is human, but is now a "monster" in Dean's words. Because Lee lost his ability to care, Dean can't abide by that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Side note: bonus for the fact that Lee dies up against a wall by being impaled and he coughs up blood. You know who doesn’t cough up blood in their very weird and unrealistic death scene? Dean in the finale.)
Remember: Lee is a dark mirror for Dean. "I am you."
By fighting and (tragically) killing Lee, Dean "kills" the darker side of himself. The side that's struggling to keep going right now... AND the side that fears eventually wanting a break means you must be selfish and stop caring.
Tumblr media
He can keep going. He can find strength to fight God–and in the end, take a break and CHOOSE peace. It won't make him dark. He's the most caring man on Earth, even when it's hard. That’s reinforced later.
Isn't he owed a little happiness? And that's not in the having. It's in just being.
Tumblr media
The bonus is what's going on with Cas in this episode.
Dean's clearing his head and finding his center again while Cas is calling him.
Come home. I need you. Remember what matters.
And again, contrast: Lee turns out not to be "real/true" in the way Dean thought he was. But Cas IS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And after Dean goes through all of this... he's grounded again, he recognizes that even amongst questions of what God controls there are still choices to be made, he's reminded that letting his caring heart lead him is priority, he's lost another friend...
He comes home to Cas.
Tumblr media
It's awkward. They're still distanced.
But this episode is a turning point for Dean. He's not angry at Cas anymore, he wants to talk, he's ready to move forward... he just doesn't know how to yet.
And if you follow the through-line... then you get Rowena saying "fix it"... and then after that is the Purgatory prayer.
Tumblr media
I just !!!
S15 is packed with Dean development to hone in towards the end of his arc, but "Last Call" manages to hit SO many buttons.
• He's always been bi, & is ready to be Out
• He can want a break–& maybe run a bar like the Roadhouse
• Caring is at the core of who he is
It's about the CHOICE. It's about wanting to live your truths, and that "caring" can mean many things–from defeating God and saving the world, to making the hard choices when it counts, to maybe running a bar where people are safe.
14x10 and its matching Texan Star also say hello:
DEAN: How come you always have a boyfriend?
PAMELA: How come you only want what you can't have?
DEAN: Whoa.
PAMELA: Besides, you don't want me. You just like to flirt. I'm a psychic, so I kinda know.
DEAN: All right.
PAMELA: So, still not ready to sell the bar, huh? It's a lot of money.
DEAN: Sell? This bar? This is my dream.
PAMELA; Yeah.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I recognize that rereading this info is sad(der) now because of what we got in the end, so uh... sorry.
But that's half the point: it's repeatedly blatantly clear what we were meant to get, down to deliberate echoes in word choice–caring, happiness, deserve, even Roadhouse.
Dean was meant to choose to take a break, maybe run a bar–whether on Earth or in Heaven. At minimum, if Dean was meant to end up in Heaven, he was meant to choose it with eyes wide open. And the next time the phone rang with Cas' name (15x19), he RAN for him. He was VERY ready.
And the whole season tells you that. This episode is just my favorite.
So... thanks for letting me ramble on about it!!!
Tumblr media
DEAN WINCHESTER: BI ICON, ONCE-LOVER OF LEE WEBB, THE MOST CARING MAN ON EARTH WHO DESERVED TO CHOOSE PEACE AFTER GAINING HIS FREEDOM, & SOULMATE TO AN ANGEL
And a very big thank you to the talented kings Jensen Ackles & Christian Kane, and their longstanding friendship. They gave me many rights with their acting choices.
Here's an iconic bonus for the road.

It’s spec time: Love always wins
(Okay, I promised it, I’m doing it, there’s no stopping me now.)
For the last three days I’ve been all over the place emotionally, clinging to every post saying Cas is not dead dead, saying his story is not done, but then someone wrote the “but” post and, there I go again, down the bottomless pit of angst.
I’ve been a Schrödinger believer for so long with this show, one can get used to it.
I know I’m not the only one feeling this way, regarding whether Cas is coming back or not. We won’t know till we know ©
Ep 19 speculations here
But let's speculate!
Apparently, there's nothing better for me to do way past midnight on Saturday and on Sunday morning (when I’m writing this).
What makes us think 15*18 might indeed be the end of Castiel’s story:
Everything the crew and Misha told us, officially, is pressing toward Cas dying permanently in this scene. “Proud ending”, indeed.
Castiel’s story has the perfect symmetry this way, with the handprint, the “Hello, Dean” - “Goodbye, Dean”, and the whole “Dean Winchester is saved” theme.
He is smiling, while Empty takes him, he’s content with his sacrifice.
Something about Castiel’s monologue didn’t sit right with me for some time. The whole point of happiness being not in having, but in being and saying, gave me an idea of it being the way writers say we can’t have Destiel, but we should be happy to know it’s real and to hear it said aloud after all those years.
Supernatural had to be the story of two brothers and their journey, and Winchesters driving in the sunset is the most probable endgame we are gonna get.
Even though all those points seem valid, we can’t trust any of it.
Let me fix it for you:
It wouldn't be the first time the crew lied about someone being on set.
The handprint was not scripted. I repeat, the handprint was not scripted.
Castiel’s monologue could be just about loving Dean, and it’s just my poor wounded heart looking too deep into it and seeing my angstloving reflection on the bottom of the well.
And Supernatural might indeed be about family, but, as we know, family doesn’t end with blood, and doesn’t start with it either. Cas is family, after all.
I’m glad be are clear on this one.
What tells us Cas is coming back and we are getting Destiel endgame:
(Brace yourself, it’s gonna be wordy)
1. The most obvious, without rewriting his memory or going OOC, there’s no happy ending for Dean (not the crappy bittersweet substitute) without Cas.
Even without the love confession in place, we’ve seen what Cas’ death did to him before, it shuttered him to pieces. Imagine the damage it's gonna cause now!
“I love you, I always did, bye bye now, have a long and happy life knowing my feelings for you have killed me dead.” Really? No win can make up for it.
2. My fave point, aka the natural dynamics of storytelling. The big loss predicts the big win. The deeper the wound, the brighter the prize. Following the roller coaster this season has been, we should be up for a pretty high damn up pretty soon.
So, there’s The Big Loss (losing Eileen, all of their friends, all the people on Earth and Cas).
Next - The Big Win (defeating God, getting their free will back, getting humanity back).
Then, we should have The Big Regret and Reflect moment (Sam and Dean talking a lot at this point, realization of things which are important, what they want with Chuck gone).
And at the end, there’s The Ultimate Happy ending waiting for us (see point 1 again in case you are not sure what that means).
3. You know what, forget it, this one is my favorite. The parallels. Throughout this season we’ve been spoon-fed with context (Geez, it feels nice to finally know we are not crazy, we are not seeing things, we got it all right!) and writers chose to do so via parallels, via reflections, subtle hints.
It would be some lazy storytelling to shove everything to our faces, so, instead, we’ve got: Charlie and Stevie, Sam and Eileen, the world and humanity, Dean and Cas.
Everyone separated. Forever? No, not really. And I don’t buy everyone getting their loved ones back, except Dean. C’mon.
4. Unresolved love confession. Yes, Cas might have died with a smile, meaning it’s enough for him to speak his truth and be gone. But Dean? Him sobbing in the dungeon, ignoring Sam’s calls (he literally never chose anything above Sam before), the “Don’t do this, Cas” part - it’s the lowest he’s ever been.
To sum up, Dean didn’t get his closure. He might have needed five to six business days to process, but he still has his truth he has to find out and then give a voice to.
And yeah, I know, he could confess via prayer or something, but we all know that’s something needed to be said face to face.  (Btw, he already confessed to Cas in purgatory via prayer once, you can try and prove me wrong, but good luck with that, sunshine.)
5. The perfect symmetry. If I were in SPN writers room, I would literally cry my eyes out of joy at the symbolism this ending gives. I would literally fight everyone against it.
The broken man not deserving to be saved is dragged from Hell by the most loyal and righteous angel Heaven ever seen.
VS
The fallen angel not deserving to be loved is dragged from Empty by the most loving and caring man the sun shone on.
I mean, c’mon, people. Poetry.
(We are nearing a very important thing here, fasten your seatbelts, please.)
6. The message the show wants to give the world has changed. From “it’s all about the journey, about saving people, killing things, no one ever gets what they deserve”, the philosophy has changed drastically toward the “good things do happen, you deserve to be saved, to be loved”.
Come and see what lane we are walking right now: allowing yourself to love again, to experience things again / losing the love of your life a moment later / fighting for your love / winning your love back.
I believe the final message is: love always wins.
Love is not one’s weakness, love is power, love is strength, it’s a perfect fuel.
Humans declare war in the name of love, kill and get killed in the name of love, but, most importantly, humans live and win those wars in the name of love, too.
7. Go big or go home is on the table, and no one goes home this time.
Supernatural was a bunch of broken glass for soooo long, I think this time writers are gonna give us something good, for a change. Not bittersweet good, but actually cotton-candy-almost-diabetes-sweet good.
Why?
Because *loud and clear* we deserve having good things happening to us!
Also, it’s The End, the creators have nothing to lose, but, on the other hand, the ultimate happy ending would allow them to leave an enormous mark on the world and Supernatural to be known as the only show that actually could.
To sum up:
Dean can’t be happy with Cas gone and, following the logic of prebuilt parallels, he won’t have to - everyone gets their loved ones back at the end, because love always wins.
Cas might be at peace with speaking his truth, saving Dean and being gone, but it is not fair, Dean also deserves a chance to be heard.
Few seasons ago I would laugh in my own face for these arguments, but the philosophy of the show has been transformed. During the last few years we were being prepared for this moment, slowly, gently being led toward this moment.
Supernatural has to give us the Destiel endgame to prove their point.

Okay but concept: it's a week or so after the 15x19 and Sam and Dean are finally sick of this mini vacation they've been taking ever since they defeated God. Sam finds a case, and they pile into the impala for some good old-fashioned monster hunting.
But then Dean sees Cas walking down the sidewalk. He looks like a hot mess. He's covered head-to-toe in dirt and grime, to the point where his trench coat is barely tan anymore. His beard now puts his Purgatory beard to shame. Even the hair on his head seems to be getting longer — and definitely much messier.
Dean slams on the breaks. It's like 2012 all over again. He'd see Cas, he'd stop, and Cas would be gone. Though he does still seem to be there this time...
But then Sam points him out, and Dean realizes he's not crazy and that Cas really is here. They both hop out of the car — Dean doesn't even take the time to turn it off — and run back to see Cas.
Dean freezes. He has no idea what the fuck he's supposed to do in this situation. It's Cas! He's alive! He's a hot mess, but he's alive! And it's so good to see him again. It really is. But with Cas right in front of him, all he can think about is how they left things. He's gone out of his way not to think about what Cas said to him before he made that sacrifice. In his grief, he found it was just easier to forget. But now he has to face it and he has to try to make sense of it, and he doesn't even know where to begin.
Sam gives Cas a bear hug, bombarding him with questions one after another and not even giving Cas the chance to respond. Dean would tell him off if he thought he could.
And then Cas just ??? collapses??? in Sam's arms, and now neither of the Winchesters really know what to do (though they can both agree this takes priority over the case they were about to head off on).
Cas comes to that night, hours after Sam and Dean dragged him into the bunker. They'd laid him down in a spare bed, and though they'd taken turns watching him for the first hour or two, they'd basically decided staring at him wasn't going to wake him up any faster and decided to go about their lives.
They're in the war room when Castiel walks out, holding onto the wall for balance with every step. They jump to their feet to give him a hand — Sam pulls out a chair and Dean helps him over to it — and they get to talking.
Cas has no idea how he came back, but he did; he was dropped right in the middle of Rossville, Kansas, with nothing but the clothes on his back. He didn't have a phone; he didn't have any money; he had nothing.
And, worst of all, he was human. This entire time he was struggling to find his way home, he was dealing with his newfound humanity as well — mainly, the hunger and the thirst that he couldn't afford to satiate. Finding public drinking fountains became almost as important as finding the bunker over the last few days.
But now he's home. Cas came home. That's all Dean can think about — literally. It doesn't even occur to him to get him something to eat and drink until Sam gets up to do it. He's just so busy thinking about the fact that Cas came home.
And now that they're alone, Dean expects Cas to address the elephant in the room: their last conversation. "I love you," he'd said. What the fuck does that mean?
Except he just... doesn't?
They make small talk instead, and every second of it kills him. Sure, Cas has good reason to ask about what happened with Chuck and whether Billie truly was taken care of and where Jack is, but it doesn't make it any easier for Dean, who really only has one thing on his mind now.
He thinks maybe after Cas eats, he'll be more apt to talk about it.
He's wrong.
But that's okay. Sam's here; it would be awkward anyway. He'll carve out some alone time with Cas that evening, see if it comes up then.
It doesn't.
He's probably tired. Sure, he took an hour-long nap before he even got back to the bunker, but he's also newly-human and newly-alive, and walking for days on end probably didn't help.
Maybe in the morning? Sam is out for a jog when Dean wakes up, and Cas is nowhere to be seen. Dean makes a delicious bacon breakfast for when Cas gets back (and he slips Miracle a piece while no one's around to tell him off for it). Cas has great timing; he comes out right as Dean is finishing up the last few pieces. Maybe a bacon breakfast will put him in the mood to talk.
... Or not.
And this goes on for days. Dean does whatever he can to get Cas alone, trying to get him to initiate that conversation — sometimes half-initiating it himself — and Cas never takes the bait. And, finally, Dean can't take it anymore. He can't keep pretending everything's normal with this eating him up inside. So, out of the blue one afternoon while Cas is reading and Dean is playing tug-of-war with Miracle, he asks.
"What did you mean, you love me?"
And Cas looks up from his book, eyes squinted and head tilted just a little bit to the side in that cute little way he does it, and he says, "I meant just that."
Which, obviously, does not clear anything up. "So you love me."
"Yes."
"Love me how?"
And Cas just stares at him because what the fuck does that mean? And now they're both hopelessly confused and after a minute of terse silence, Cas finally says, "I just do?" and it's more of a question than an answer and it sure as hell doesn't help with Dean's days-long crisis.
And Dean's like, "But what do you mean?" which is quite literally the exact same question he asked the first time and definitely doesn't clean anything up, and the look on the former angel's face says that perfectly well. "You mean you love me as...?" A friend? A brother? A lover? God, why does the English language have so many different definitions of love?
Cas just tilts his head a little more. "I don't think I understand the question."
And Dean can't tell if he's feeling exasperated or if he's feeling desperate what but finally he's just like, "Cas, was that just a heartfelt goodbye or was that a love confession?" and it's crystal clear on Cas's face that he finally understand.
But he still doesn't answer it. "It doesn't matter. I thought I was never going to see you again. I was wrong. Can we focus on that instead?"
And the fact that he didn't answer it almost makes it sound like it was a love confession, but the answer he did give almost makes it sound like it was just a heartfelt goodbye, and now Dean feels like his head is going to explode and what the fuck, Cas, just answer him!
And he might sound a little more upset than he'd anticipated when he says, "No, Cas, we can't!" so he quickly adds a softer, "I just... I need to know," because he does and how does Cas not realize that?
So, after a long pause, Cas says, "It was more than a goodbye, but you don't owe me anything. I truly meant it when I told you that happiness isn't in the having."
This has been plaguing Dean's mind for days but he'd never really thought about what he'd do if it really was a romantic confession, and now he's just??? Not sure??? Where to go from here???
And then Cas has the audacity to just go back to reading his book like nothing happened. Dean is having a whole-ass crisis and Cas is just reading a fucking book. It's unbelievable. How can Cas just drop this on him and then go back to his life like nothing happened?
For some reason, that really sends Dean over the edge, because he walks over and takes the book out of his hands so Cas has to look at him. But what the fuck is he supposed to say? What message is he even trying to get across? What is he —
And before he knows it, he's leaning over and giving Cas a kiss. Cas seems taken aback by it at first — like, really taken aback — but then he kisses back, and it's great; it's something Dean had never fantasized about before and god, he's glad he hadn't because he never could have done it justice in his mind.
It's Cas.
What more does he need?

Rockin' the Suburbs: Destiel Fic Chapter 1
Chp2 Chp3 Chp4 or read on ao3
Pretending to be married to his best friend who he's secretly in love with? Dean's totally got this under control. But pretending to be married and raising an actual toddler with his best friend who he's secretly in love with? Yeah so maybe he doesn't have it totally, under control, actually he's screwed. Fake married case fic+actual baby Jack? What could go wrong?
This was all Sam's fault.
Sam had strolled into the war room yesterday afternoon announcing that he had found a case in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Six people died, all parents, all with one kid, kids lived, but the parents, they weren't so lucky. It was in one of those Stepford gated communities where every house looked the same, "Pleasant Acres", or some crap like that. Meaning, Jody, Donna and Claire were all set to take the case, but they called twenty minutes ago saying they got caught up on a hunt in Montana. So now they were all shifting through their contacts, trying to find hunters with kids, since whatever it was only seemed to target families.
And Dean's been feeling well, weird, ever since Sam brought up the case yesterday. Something itching in the back of his mind. He's of course been  trying to ignore it, but now that he's reading over the case it's getting stronger, making his twist in way he definitely doesn't want to unpack.
He glances up across the room, eyes quickly finding Cas and Jack. Cas is seated across from him on Jack's blanket, helping him build unstable block towers, just so he could knock them down.
(read the rest under the cut)
Dean's stomach twists again, and an all too familiar feeling washes over him.
Yeah, he definitely doesn't want to unpack it.
"Hey, I think I got something" Sam calls pulling Dean from his trance as Cas stands, making his way back to his chair.
"So Sarah and Mike Johnson? Jody met them, and their daughter, Katie on a hunt last year. They live somewhat close by, so I'll try to give them a call" Sam continues, reaching for his phone.
And now, Dean doesn't know why, but he felt that thing squirm deep inside him, and the next thing he knew, he was talking.
"Why don't we take it?" Dean practically shouts startling everyone, including himself.
Sam paused, cellphone halfway to his ear and Cas' head snapped up so quick Dean's worried he has whiplash.
And so Dean freezes, mouth suddenly very dry.
What the hell was he doing, why was h-
"Why don't we take the case? I mean the thing is only going after families right, and we-we've got an 18 month old super baby right here. So we cou-two of us could take Jack for a week, play house for a week, and gank the thing" Dean somehow chokes out, watching as Sam and Cas' stare with increasingly disbelieving looks.
Dean’s heart began pounding against his chest.
Dean could barely believe the suggestion to take the hunt came out of his mouth, let alone bringing the kid? Completely out of the question, way too dangerous. He's not just gonna put the kid directly in harms way, on a hunt for godsake! And yet the suggestion had rolled off his tongue anyway? Dean didn't know why.
God what the hell was wrong with him today?
But it's not like he can just take it back now that he practically screamed it, so in favor of looking like an idiot or delving into the reason behind why he said it, Dean sat in his own silent panic.
From across the table he watched Sam's face contort into about three different emotions, finally landing on something that looked like agreement.
Shit.
"Well, that might actually be a goo-" Sam started with a sigh
"You can't seriously be suggesting we bring Jack along on a hunt? It's too dangerous, we've barely even left the bunker with him" Cas immediately cut in and god Dean could kis-Dean was very relieved.
And Sam surely wouldn't argue with that. So he was in the clear. He could just forget about this whole stupid conversation like it never happened, and never have to think about it ag-
"Exactly, I mean you guys have barely left the house and Jack has barely even seen the world. I hate to say it, but I think it'd be good, for all of us" Sam replied reluctantly.
And there goes Dean's heart rate.
"Sam, we don't even know what we're up against it co-"
"I know Cas, but he'll be with us. And besides, it looks like whatever's doing this, is only taking victims with young children, not a single one is over the age of five. So it's probably better if we end up taking the case anyway, rather than Sarah and Mike, or even Jody and the girls. We're the only one with a kid under ten. Plus he's half angel, we're probably at greater risk than Jack is" Sam reasons carefully.
A tense silence fell over them, the only sound was Jack babbling to himself on the other side of the room. Dean wanted to say something, wanted to say he doesn't know what he was thinking and it's crazy and they shouldn't take the case, but his mouth wasn't exactly on his side today.
He snuck a glance at Cas who has his eyes trained on Jack.
The tension was killing him, Dean had to say something. He couldn't just let this happen because his stupid mouth started talking nonsense.
So he swallows thickly, opening his mouth to take it all back, so they could forget this whole conversation ever happened, so he wouldn't have to think about why h-
"You're right" Cas sighs, looking as if his answer deflated him.
And Dean couldn't agree more with that sentiment because suddenly all of the air was knocked out of his lungs. He must have looked like it too because Sam met his eyes across the table, leveling him with a look Dean can't decipher.
Then suddenly, a smile spread across his face, which in his experience, is never a good sign.
"Alright so, Dean can stay at a nearby hotel, while Cas and I take the nei-"
"I'll go with Cas" Dean blurted before he even realized what was happening.
He snapped his jaw shut, but apparently not quick enough. Again, Dean didn't know why he said that, but that thing was back swirling around his stomach so he assumed it had to do with whatever the hell that was. And his mouth must have a mind of it's own today because he's pretty sure he didn't tell it to start moving, let alone say that.
Dean's heart beat against his chest, face burning. He forced his eyes to look up at Sam, not daring to even glance in Cas' direction. He can't handle any look that might be on his face. What if he'd rather go with Sam? What if he's ang-
"Okay it's all settled then, I mean so long as that's good with you Cas?" Sam asked, smile turning into a smirk.
"Yes, that's good with me" Cas replied, tone unreadable.
Was he really okay with it? Was he creeped out by the way Dean cut in? Was he actually annoyed that he'd have to be with Dean?
All great questions, with sadly no answers. Because Dean would have to actually look at him, if he wanted any insight to what Cas was thinking, and that was so not going to happen. Not with his face still on fire.
"Alright perfect! I'll call the real estate agent, about setting up a house tour, you guys start packing? And oh, don't forget to think of your backstory so you're both on the same page! We can leave in the morning" Sam said with a too wide smile, as he pushed himself out of his chair. Sam stopped for a moment, giving him a look that Dean definitely didn't want to think about right now, before turning down the hall with a skip in his step.
Yup, this was definitely all Sam's fault.
Heart still racing in his chest, Dean braves a look over at Cas.
And a bit of relief floods through him when he catches those blue eyes. Cas seemed fine, doesn't look angry or disgusted at the thought of doing this thing with Dean. So he counts that as a win, and his heart rate slows a bit, but he still doesn't know what Cas is thinking, and he needs to know.
But he doesn't dare say anything, because at this point anything could come out of his mouth, and that's definitely not a risk Dean's willing to take after the mini heart attack he just suffered. So, awkward silence it was until Cas decides to speak up.
Eventually, after what feels like hours, Cas slumps forward folding his hands on the table as he stares over at Jack. Dean follows his gaze, watching Jack knock over his lopsided block tower with an excited shriek. A small smile tugs at his lips.
"Dean, I still think this is reckless" Cas sighs and Dean turns back, finding his eyes trained on him, filled with worry.
Dean's smile slips at the sight, his heart clenching and he pretends not to know the real reason why.
Things were already...weird between him and Cas lately, and now his dumbass had to go and make it worse. Because what the hell was he thinking suggesting they take this hunt, bring along the kid, and practically beg to pretend to live with Cas. Jesus, Cas is probably beyond creeped out and angry.
Dean has to fix this.
"Cas, listen I'm sorry it was a stupid idea-I don't even know why I said it. Because now we're putting Jack in danger-and it's not fair that you're gonna have to be stuck pretending to be married to me because I-I'm gonna go find Sam and we can just call the whole thing off, and he can contact that other family an-"
"Dean, no stop I want to do the hunt" Cas cut in quickly, effectively stopping Dean's rambling.
"But yo-"
"I said I still thought it was reckless, and it is-to bring Jack along I mean. But Sam's right he's barely gotten out of the bunk-we've all barely gotten out of here, so I think it'll be good for all of us. And besides Jack has his powers" Cas replied, gaze shifting back to Jack.
Dean let out a breathe he didn't realize he was holding. Cas wasn't angry at him, he wanted to go on the hunt. And he didn't seem too torn up about doing it with Dean so-
"Jack will have us to protect him the entire time. And I'm glad it's with you, I feel safer about the whole endeav-not that Sam isn't a phenomenal hunter. He is, but let's face it he isn't the world's best babysitter when it comes to Jack" Cas said turning back to Dean with an amused smile.
He's of course talking about the last time Sam watched Jack, where they walked in to see Sam trying to coax Jack off the ceiling into a laundry basket piled with blankets.
Dean couldn't help crack a smile at Cas' little joke. The squirming feeling had disappeared, leaving Dean feeling much calmer about the whole thing as he relaxed in his chair.
They'd be fine, this would be just like any other hu-
"So, Sam mentioned a backstory? Should we come up with that now, so we aren't caught off guard when someone asks?" Cas suggested, eyes staring into Dean's.
And just like that, Dean's calm had left the building.
"Uh yeah sure. Let's do th-let's start with how we met" Dean managed, now that his throat had gone dry again.
"Well, we met September 19th, 2008 in a barn in-"
"Okay September 2008, we can use that-but let's turn the barn into a bar instead? I saw you sitting at the bar alone, bought you a drink, we started talking, boom the rest is history" Dean raced, wanting very much to be done with this conversation.
"Dean, people always seem to be interested in these kinds of stories. We're probably going to need more information if anyone is going to buy it"
Damnit. Cas had a point, stupid angel always has to be right. So he puffed out a breathe, unclenching his fists under the table.
Breathe Winchester. It's just some fake story.
"Alright alright, so I saw you at the bar, you looked lonely so I bought you a drink and we got to talking. You uh...just got out of a long relationship with a bad ex, and I had just been through hell and back with my job-"
"Oh I see, like me rebelling against heaven, and you literally going to hel-"
"Yeah genius how'd you crack that cod" Dean quipped only to be cut off by a swift kick to the shin. Cas shot him a smug smile causing Dean to roll his eyes, and his stomach definitely did not flip.
Get it together Winchester
"So you helped me through a terrible breakup, and I helped you through the stress of your job. In a way we saved each other, which isn't so different from our real story" Cas continues.
And Dean swears his friggin heart stopped, Cas' words knocking the wind out of him.
God Dean should have stopped thi-
"By the way, what is your job going to be?" Cas questioned with his usual tilt of the head that definitely did not send Dean's heart racing even faster.
"Don't care you pick" Dean managed to force out, as he tried to gain control of his anxiety.
"A mechanic, I think. You love working on Baby, I think you'd enjoy getting to fix and help other people's cars for a living" Cas suggested in the most sincere tone Dean's ever heard. And how Dean somehow managed a nod of approval through his internal breakdown, he'll never know.
"Alright, so you pick what my job is then" Cas smiled softly, either not noticing Dean's panic or clearly ignoring it. Dean was grateful for either option.
Dean managed to reign in his stupid freak out long enough to get his brain working.
"A college professor-maybe like English lit or something. I know you like to read, and you always like to talk to about the books after you finish them. That is if you wa-"
"I think that's perfect, it sounds like a nice career"
"Great, so met in September 2008, mechanic and English Professor helped each other through their crap. Now they're moving to the suburbs to grill burgers in the backyard and fight to get the kid into a good preschool. Sounds like we've go-"
"Oh, we need a wedding anniversary" Cas cut in.
And yeah Dean's 100% sure his heart stopped this time.
How could Dean be so stupid, they wouldn't have to just pretend to be together (which was difficult enough within itself, for reasons he'd rather not discuss), they'd have to be married. Of course he knew this logically, but since his mouth had a friggin mind of it's own, he wasn't really thinking about the implications.
Married. To Cas. With a kid. A family.
And god, Dean couldn't even sa-no he's so not unboxing that right now.
"Uh, got married in our backyard. Just pick any date" Dean said weakly once he found his voice.
Cas was silent for a moment, expression unreadable. Then he nodded to himself
"November 2nd, 2017"
And that was the final hit. Dean was sent spiraling, losing any control he had regained.
The day Cas got out of the empty, the night he called Dean, the night Dean tried to-
"Alright, good. Sounds like we've got everything covered. I'm gonna get a start on packing, why don't you put Squirt over there down for his nap" Dean said jumping to his feet and quickly made his way to his room without a glance backwards. He feels like shit for leaving Cas just sitting there, but he had to get away before he really lost it.
Dean carefully tries not to slam his door and flops down on his bed. His thoughts buzz around in his skull, while about ten different emotions wash over him all at once. With a groan he reaches out and punches his mattress, which doesn't do much of anything seeing as its memory foam.
God what the hell had he gotten himself into.
He just agreed to be fake married to his best friend and live in a house in the suburbs with a 18 month old child.
He was crazy. He didn't even know why he said anythi-god who was he kidding. Of course he knew why he said it, he just didn't know why he let himself say them out loud. Now he's gonna have to play house with Cas and Jack for at least a week, when he can't even admit to himself th-
No. He can't let any of that get in the way. He can't throw himself a pity party just because Cas doesn-this stupid hunt was his own stupid fault, also partially Sam's (Dean's still sticking to that, thank you very much)
This is still a hunt, there are lives at stake. He can stow it. For everyone's sake.
So Dean sighs running his hands through his hair as he racked his mind for what he'd have to pack. On autopilot he began grabbing his clothes and usual crap, shoving it into his bag. As he zipped it up, his eyes landed on a box in the top of his closet.
In a flash he had the box down, lid off, sitting on his lap. Dean reached inside, pulling out two rings and his stomach flipped at the sight.
Yeah, it was gonna be a long night.
The next morning they were all in the garage packing up the trunk, getting ready to leave for their two day drive. Sam said the real estate agent was ecstatic that they were interested in the house. Must be a hard sell since the last three owners died inside.
Dean was strapping Jack into his car seat, rings weighing his pocket down, like a boulder.
"I'm gonna grab the last bag from the kitchen" Sam announced as he jogged out of the garage.
Well, it was now or never. So Dean drew in a shaky breath and walked around the car.
"Uh Cas, here" Dean said lamely, holding out a ring between his fingers.
Cas tilted his, eyes widening at the object.
"We're uh, supposed to be married right? So we need rings ya know" Dean continued unsure of how to proceed.
Cas nodded in understanding, carefully taking it from Dean's fingers, and slipped onto his left hand.
Dean gasped, and quickly tried to cover it up
"Uh yeah sorry of it's too tight, it's mind from years ago. I used to wear a few of them all the time, but they hurt like a bitch when you gotta deck someone" Dean rambled, face heating up.
"It's perfect, thank you" Cas smiled, meeting his eyes.
The squirming feeling was back, and squirmier than ever.
"What about you?" Cas asked looking at Dean's empty fingers.
"Oh! I've got my mom's old wedding ring. Had it resized to fit years ago, so I figured it would work" Dean rushed, pulling the second ring out of his pocket and slipping it onto his finger.
When he looked up again, Cas was staring at him with a look Dean had never seen on him before. It made his heart skip a beat in his chest.
"Alright! You guys ready to go?" Sam called as he walked back through the door, causing both of them to jump.
Moment ruined.
Without a word, they quickly climbed into the Impala. As Dean went to turn the key, his eyes traveled to the rearview mirror.
Jack giggling in his car seat as Cas wiggled his stuffed rabbit right above his head. Cas suddenly looked up catching his eye in the mirror, giving him a soft smile, which Dean found himself easily returning.
His eyes slid over to Sam, who was staring at the ring on his finger. Then Sam met his eyes, offering him a smirk and a raised eyebrow.
So Dean quickly snapped his attention forward, and turned the key a bit too hard.
Yeah, Dean was fucked.

not knockin' on heaven's door 😥 this song breaks my heart already from how they used it in this scene:
s2e13 houses of the holy
SAM I don't know, Dean, I just, uh ... I wanted to believe ... so badly, ah ... It's so damn hard to do this, what we do. You're all alone, you know? And ... there's so much evil out there in the world, Dean, I feel like I could drown in it. And when I think about my destiny, when I think about how I could end up ... DEAN Yeah, well, don't worry about that. All right? I'm watching out for you. SAM Yeah, I know you are. But you're just one person, Dean. And I needed to think that there was something else, watching too, you know? Some higher power. Some greater good. And that maybe ... DEAN Maybe what? SAM Maybe I could be saved.

DEAN Is this Flagstaff?
SAM Yeah. (He pets Bones.) Hey, boy.
DEAN This is a good memory for you?
SAM Yeah. I mean, I was on my own for two weeks. I lived on Funyuns and Mr. Pibb.
DEAN Wow.
SAM What?
DEAN Well, you don’t remember, do you? You ran away on my watch. I looked everywhere for you. I thought you were dead. And when Dad came home…
SAM Dean, look, I’m sorry. I never thought about it like that.
i didn't think it was possible for an episode to make me cry as much as that djinn episode but hey they did it. good job. what the fuck
DEAN Wait a minute. Wait a minute. This? This is the night you ditched us for Stanford, isn’t it? This is your idea of heaven? Wow. This was one of the worst nights of my life.
okay so. is this a plot point, someone trying to drive a wedge between them or something. because this is fucking awful.
DEAN C’mon! Your heaven is somebody else’s Thanksgiving. Okay. It’s bailing on your family. What do you want me to say?

latest thing i read in fic first and thought there was no way it was canon. soulmates.
ASH Mm-hmm. Yeah. See you got Winchesterland. Ashland. A whole mess of everybody-else-lands. Put them all together: heaven. Right? At the center of it all? Is the Magic Kingdom. The Garden.
DEAN So everybody gets a little slice of paradise.
ASH Pretty much. A few people share—special cases. What not.
DEAN What do you mean ‘special’?
ASH Aw, you know. Like, uh, soulmates. Anyway. Most people can’t leave their own private Idaho’s.
i missed ash. he was a fun character and his actor did a great job bringing him to life
ASH This ain’t the first time here. I mean, you boys die more than anyone I’ve ever met.
DEAN Really.
ASH Ah, yeah… you don’t remember. God! Angels. Must’ve Windexed your brain.

JOSHUA I know how important this was to you, Dean. I’m sorry.
DEAN Forget it. Just another dead-beat dad with a bunch of excuses, right. I’m used to that. I’ll muddle through.
JOSHUA Except… you don’t know if you can, this time. You can’t kill the Devil, and you’re losing faith, in yourself, your brother, and now this?

Pairing: Dean x reader
Gender: Male
Warnings: Yandere behavior, MPreg
Summary: Dean discovered that he have a son and he will do whatever it takes to get his child and you
I dont own the character or the gif
You were walking towards the motel room door. The rain mixed with your tears as it soaked you and your backpack.
Frustration, sadness, and anger formed in your heart as you remembered what had happened a few hours ago.
How Dean had broken your heart and ruined your relationship as if your relationship was nothing to him at all.
Upon entering the motel room, you sat in front of the door, your hands on your face as you cried and thought about what you were going to do now.
What you were going to do without Dean, without your home, and without your friends.
You didn't feel that your future would be a promising one.
-
Weeks had gone by since you had left.
Right now, your life mainly consisted of going out to buy something to eat, head back to your motel room and watch some cliche movie.
Until one day, you woke up feeling sick to your stomach.
'It must be the crap I ate for lunch or my body just decided to punish me for just crying.' You thought, as you vomited in the bathroom toilet.
Unfortunately, this was a repeated cycle for you every day. Waking up in the morning and throwing up in the toilet.
You even thought about eating healthier food, but it didn't help the vomiting problem.
That's when you decided to call Castiel.
You knew that you shouldn't be calling him since you were probably just sick which is something that everything human goes through, but you couldn't take it any longer.
When you heard the sound of wings fluttering, you felt the angel wrap his arms around your body.
"Y/N, have you been staying here all this time? You were gone for weeks and I was worried sick about you! Every time I asked Dean where you were, he ignored me and left the room." The angel said, tightening his arms around you. He pulled back from the hug to look you in the eyes, "Why did you disappear like that?" He asked, tilting his head to the side.
You looked down at the floor and let out a sigh, "It's complicated, Cas but I need your help."
"With what?"
Lately, I've been feeling sick. Every day I wake up and I've tried everything to stop the sickness, but it won't go away. So, could you maybe, cure me?"
Castiel nodded, and put two fingers against your forehead.
"What the-" Castiel muttered after removing his fingers from your forehead. You were confused by the angel's reaction. He lifted your shirt up slightly and put his hand on your belly, rubbing his hand over it.
"What are you doing, Cas?" You asked, feeling the angel's warm hand against your stomach.
"This makes no sense," He spoke in  confusion as he removed his hand "This shouldn't even have been possible."
You were starting to get a little scared, "Cas, what's going on?"
"Y/N... there's a baby inside you."
You let out a laugh and punched his arm lightly, "Oh my God, Cas. You actually scared me for a second. Who taught you how to make jokes?"
This is too funny. A baby inside you? A guy? Yeah, right.
"I'm not joking around, Y/N. There's a fetus inside you."
"But, that's impossible, Cas. I don't have a uterus." You pointed out.
"There is a baby inside your stomach. I felt a baby's presence when I was healing you." Castiel sat on the bed and mumbled words under his breath before disappearing and reappearing a few seconds later with a red-haired woman you recognized all too well.
Rowena.
"What's going on here? And why did you bring me to this hotel room, angel?" The witch asked.
"We need your help." The angel said.
"Cas, what are you doing?" You asked him.
"Rowena, Y/N is pregnant and we don't know how it happened. Would you be able to find out?" The angel questioned.
"You could have just asked me for help instead of kidnapped me, angel." Rowena said, approaching you, "But, let's see what happened, shall we?"
Rowena started to speak words in a language you didn't understand while touching your stomach, "Ah, did you face a witch recently?"
"Yes, about three weeks ago."
"Did she have a red book with a fish and goat drawn on it?"
"Yes." You answered.
"I already know what happened!" The witch exclaimed, "That book is from an ancient coven that was very pure and strong, but extremely sexist. They did not accept women there." She sat down by your side, "To continue the purity of the coven they created spells to allow male pregnancy, thus maintaining the male-only lineage." She explained.
"Okay, the story is cool and all, but what would that bitch gain from making me pregnant?"
"Spells can be completely different and just have the intonation of a different letter, dear. Maybe she tried some other spell but ended up doing this one in particular accidentally."
"And how can we get rid of it?" The angel butted in, wanting to help.
"You can't. Trying to end the pregnancy would cause Y/N to immediately die."
"Great. Just fucking great. I'm alone, emotionally unstable and pregnant. Oh, this is just fucking great!" You said sarcastically, throwing yourself on the bed.
"I imagine that you would want to tell Dean the good news."
"What does Dean have to do with this? And besides, we're not together anymore." You replied, sitting up and looking up at Rowena.
"Ah, pity my dear. The spell allows you to become pregnant, but It still needs insemination, meaning the child is Dean's."
"Just great."
"Y/N," Castiel approached you, "I know you are scared and worried, but I will be by your side and will always accompany you at all times. If you want my help, of course." The angel offered, a hopeful look on his face.
You looked at the angel and the hopeful look on his face made you feel like everything was going to be okay.
"Thanks Cas. I really appreciate it."
---
During the following months of your pregnancy, Castiel remained by your side. Taking care of you and bringing what you needed.
Even bought books on pregnancy and learning how to take care of the child.
Rowena came by every month to check on you and the baby. You weren't close, but she knew what a pregnancy was like and wanted to help you, and she also wanted to know how the pregnancy spell worked, but you ignored the fact that you were her little lab rat.
When the time came, Rowena prepared the spell to take the child out of you. Fortunately everything was painless and soon the baby was sleeping in your arms.
"I'm glad everything went well," Castiel said, sitting next to you, "Have you decided on what to name him?"
You looked at Cas in confusion before it dawned on you. You had completely forgotten to think of a name for the child.
"He's a little angel." You commented,  "Nothing is more fair than receiving the name of one, too. Castiel, meet Castiel Junior." You smiled at him
"M-My name? Why?" Castiel asked, fumbling over his words slightly in surprise.
"You helped me with everything, Cas. If it weren't for you nothing would have worked out the way it did, so I wanted to name him in honor of you. The super protective angel."
"Thank you so much, Y/N. I'm very honored, and I promise to always look after you both." Castiel kissed your forehead before getting up and fetching a bottle for little Castiel.
---
Five years have passed since the birth of Castiel, or Castie which is what you called him. You moved to a small town and started a new life with your child, away from hunting and monsters.
Castiel still visits you both regularly at least four times a week, honoring his promise to take care of you both and honestly, you're happy that he did.  Looking after a child alone is really difficult.
It's been years since you had contact or heard from the Winchesters. Castiel just gives you news about Sam who you miss a lot.
Everything was peaceful and you were finally happy. True happiness.
---
"Are you sure this is going to be a case, Dean?" The angel questioned, "This city doesn't seem to be dangerous. Maybe we should go back."
"What's your problem with coming here, Cas?" The younger brother asked, "Ever since we told you the case was in this town you have been complaining."
"It's nothing, I just don't think there's a case he-" Castiel couldn't even finish speaking because something or someone hugged him.
"Papa Castiel!" The child said, "I missed you! Daddy won't let me eat chocolate anymore!"
Cas turned and saw Castie there. He  smiled and picked up the child.
"Hello little me. I missed you too.  Where's your daddy?" He asked as the child hugged him, and the brothers looked confused.
"Castiel, what the fu-" Before Dean could  finish his sentence, Sam put his hand over his mouth and looked at him with a disapproving look.
"Castie! Where did you go?" The three heard a voice that sounded familiar.
"Daddy I'm here. Papa is here too!" The child yelled back, letting his dad know where he was.
You recognized Castiel's coat and soon calmed down before you saw that Dean and Sam were there, too. A lump formed in your throat as you approached them.
"Hello Y/N." Castiel and Sam greeted simultaneously as Dean just stared at you.
"Where have you been all this time, Y/N?" Sam asked and you could see that hurt look in his eyes.
"I'm sorry I haven't talked to you in the last few years, Sam. I've been a little busy as you can see." You gestured to your son and picked him up.
"Yeah. I can see that, but a text message wouldn't kill, you know?" He suggested, and you gave him an apologetic look.
"That's very true. I'll remember that next time, but I'll be taking my leave now. I don't want to disturb you or anything-"
"You are friends of papa and daddy! Come to our house! I have several toys!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Castie, they are busy now." You said.
"Oh, we're not busy right now. And a place to stay would be great." Dean spoke up for the first time since being there.
"Yay! Come on daddy, they want to see my toys!" He spoke excitedly and you found yourself giving a defeated nod. You knew that something was about to go down and you we're not prepared for it.
You each went to your cars and went to your home.
---
Dean wasn't stupid.
You left him five years ago and now you show up with a 5 year old child who has the same eye color and freckles just like him.
He didn't know how it happened, but he knew the child was his.
And knowing that you hid it from him made him more angry then he cared to admit.
---
You were at your house, Castiel and Sam we're playing with your kid while you made coffee with Dean watching you.
"Papa, can you please get me my puzzle so I can play with the giant!" Castie asked, and you smiled at Sam's bitchface.
You went to Castie's room and were looking for the puzzle when you heard the bedroom door close and turned around to see Dean standing before you.
"Are you psychotic or something? How did you do that?" He pushed you up against the wall with his hand around your throat, "Is he a clone of mine or what?"
His large hand tightened around your throat, "What are you talking about, Dean?"
"The child. He's a copy of me. Did you do any sick spells to copy me?" He questioned, anger getting stronger and stronger.
The tightness in your throat made it difficult to even answer the question.
"Dean let him go, NOW!" Castiel's deep voice came out of nowhere and pushed Dean off you, "The child was the result of a spell, but not done by Y/N himself. He was a victim of the spell." The angel explained and Dean gestured for him to keep going.
Honestly, you would have rather let Dean continue to hate you than know the truth.
"Five years ago, Y/N was hit by a witches spell. The spell was supposed to kill him, but she mispronounced it and ended up casting an old spell that allowed male pregnancy. That's what happened. It wasn't his fault." The angel explained.
Dean looked back and forth between you and Castiel and you could see pain, hatred, and sadness in his eyes.
"Leave the room, Cas. I want to talk to Y/N alone." The hunter ordered and started pushing the angel out, or at least tried to.
"I'm not going anywhere!" Cas stated firmly.
"You can go, Cas. If anything happens, I know that you're only one prayer away."
The angel looked at you hesitantly  before nodding and leaving the room.
Dean closed the door and looked at you.
"We have a son and you never even thought of telling me. The child's father?!" He yelled at the top of his lungs angrily at you for not even bothering to tell him that he has a kid.
You sighed, "Look, I didn't want to see you after what happened. I was already confused and stressed out about having a damn baby inside me." You sighed again, "I really don't want you here."
He was so angry that he punched the wall and you flinched slightly, "Dammit, Y/N. He's my son for crying out loud!"
"Oh, please. Your son my ass." You scoffed bitterly, "I raised him for the past 5 years with Castiel. If he's anyone's son, it's Cas's son."
"No, Dean," You denied, "You were the one who made me leave you, or don't you remember what you said that night." You stalked forward towards Dean who stood right there in his spot, "Oh Sam, Y/N is just a temporary thing. A way to get free and easy sex. He is not who I want in my future. He is only there until I find someone I really love." You imitated  his speech from that night before walking away and sitting on the bed as Dean stayed silent.
He rolled his eyes and let out a bitter laugh, "So this is it? You and Castiel? Did you leave me to be him?" That sentence through you for a loop and that made anger that you have been trying to hold in resurface
"I'm just doing what I always wanted. I  got out of the hunting life and your life, and I didn't want to add a baby on top of your plate." You got up and went to the shelf, picked up the puzzle for Castie, "You can go ahead and fuck some girl in a bar, marry her and have a perfect family." You opened the door and left the room wth Dean staring at the ground in regret.
---
The rest of the day you and didn't speak to each other. He looked at you with a sad expression on his features, but you focused your attention on Sam and your son.
Cas told Sam everything that had happened in the past 5 years and he offered help if you wanted it.
Obviously, you accepted his offer and said that he could visit his nephew whenever he wanted.
You offered them the guest room and sofa for them to sleep on. As much as you didn't want to see Dean, you wanted to be able to get your relationship back with Sam.
---
The brothers solved the case in 3 days. They said goodbye and soon left after that.
During their stay, Dean was restless and always seemed to be thinking about something, but you chose to ignore it and just pretend that the conversation between you two never happened.
---
Days have gone after the Winchesters hunt. Your boss for some reason asked you to leave for a few days. They would be disinfecting the building and you weren't complaining. After all, you could have more time with your son.
Castie had been a little weird in the last few days. He was more reserved and closed off a little. You saw him laughing now and then along with talking to himself, but when you asked him he said his only reply was that it was a secret. You just assumed it was something little children went through, but with your former life, who knows.
You were in the kitchen, baking a pie.
Castie, unfortunately was just like his dad when it came to favorite foods.  You just put the pie in the oven when you smelt something strange and vaguely familiar.
Freakin' sulfur.
You ran into Castie room where you saw the door was strangely closed and locked. You kicked open the door.
You ran inside and saw a woman with Castiel on her lap.
"The young child has Winchester blood inside him. He could be very useful." She turned to face you with her black eyes.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Just leave him alone, please." You pleaded.
Castiel seemed to be sleeping on her lap while she pointed a knife at his throat.
"Why should I? Winchester no-" A demon killing bullet went straight through her head before she could finish.
"Y/N!" A deep voice called out to you, but you ignored it and ran to your soon and was glad to see that he was okay.
"Y/N is everything okay?" You heard Dean ask and you nodded
"Shit, that was too close." He exclaimed.
"This is a perfect example of why I didn't want you to get too close to him. Now, he is a target. Demons and other monsters will be targeting him." You sighed.
"Y/N," Dean started, "I know this life is dangerous with everything that comes with being a hunter, but you'd be safer with me." He said and you rolled your eyes, "The bunker is the safest place on earth and-"
"I'm not going to raise my son with any connection to the supernatural world, Dean!" You exclaimed as Castie started to wake up.
"Daddy? What happened?" He asked,  turning to face Dean, "Father? You came back!" He ran out of your arms and went straight to Dean's.
"Father?" You questioned.
Dean looked down at the ground as he ran his fingers through his son's hair, "I told him."
You looked at him as if you wanted to kill him, and you kinda wanted to.
In addition to putting your child's life at risk, he made his way back into your life.
"He needed to know Y/N." Dean tried to reason in with you.
"Daddy, father. You'll be together with me now, right?" He looked at you with puppy eyes
"Castie your dad and I have problems and I don't think it would be good for"
"We have problems that need to be worked out. Problems that I will overcome and I will not commit again."  Dean spoke proudly, as he took Castie into his arms.
"Can we please daddy! Father told me that he lives in a fortress! It must be much nicer than our house! There must be lots of toys there!" Castie said excitedly and you wondered what toys could possibly be in a bunker.
Trying to hide things from Castie didn't work out anymore. The supernatural world wants his head on a silver platter  now and you didn't know if you would be able to protect him by yourself now.
You really didn't want to go back with Dean, but the bunker is a safe place and you would do anything to keep your son safe.
You sighed, "Okay, we're going with him, Castie. Go get your things while I talk to your father, okay?"
“Okie dokie! "He happily picked up his toys as you and Dean made your way out of his room and into your room.
"Just so we're perfectly clear, I'm doing this for him. Do you understand? I don't want us to go back to being how we used to be. Let alone stay in the same room as you. Got that?"
"If that's what you want, Y/N. But, I changed, okay? I have been miserable without you. You are the light of my life,  and I didn't want to admit it and pretended that you weren't important but, without you all I did was drink and-"
"You used to do that all the time when we were in a relationship together. Seems that you haven't changed as much as you thought you did." You interrupted him, leaving the room to go help your son pack.
Dean knew it wasn't going to be easy to get you back or even to trust you again. He expected it to be difficult. But, he would get there and he would win you back and would raise his son together with you.
He had no limits when it came to getting you and son to move into the bunker to be near him and to get you back into his arms.
Hell, he already hired a demon to almost kill his own son just to scare you.
But, he didn't die and now you, and Castie are safe and would be living with him.
The only thing he had to do now was get rid of that damn angel and he could finally have the perfect family he always wanted.

Sam and Dean had stayed behind when Y/N had decided to follow Krissy and her friends to kill the vampire. Neither of them was particularly fond of the idea of you going off on your own but you insisted that you had it. Even after all these years they still felt protective over you.
Several hours later, Sam and Dean had gotten nowhere with the foster dad. They felt in their guts that something was off about him, but they didn’t know what. Both ready to call it a night, Dean got out his cell phone prepared to call Y/N to see how things were going with Krissy, when suddenly Krissy and her friends’, Josephine and Aiden, barge through the front door. The three of them talking at once, making it impossible to decipher what they were saying.
“Okay!” Dean yelled out. “One at a time, Krissy what is going on?”
Krissy took two heavy breaths before launching into the events that occurred after they found the vampire. How Y/N had found them in the barn right after Krissy had killed the vamp that had murdered her father, to them hearing several cars pulling up and Y/N telling them to go and get the Winchester’s. When Sam and Dean heard that Krissy had seen agents with FBI vests on when they had run out of the barn, dread settled into their chests.
Right after Krissy finished her story and Sam and Dean had gotten all that they could out of them, they left heading back to their motel room to try and come up with a plan.
The impala was quiet, both brothers thinking of ways to fix the mess they have found themselves in. Dean was the first to break the silence.
“How did this even happen?” he asked his hands gripping the steering wheel tighter. “It’s our job to protect her. We shouldn’t have let her go off on her own.”
Sam glanced over at his brother. As soon as they had heard what happened to Y/N, he knew Dean would blame himself. It didn’t matter how many times you had gone off on your own on a hunt and been fine. They couldn’t have known this one would be different.
“She’s going to be okay,” Sam reassured. “She’s been in worse situations before. She can handle this.”
Dean slammed his hand down on the steering wheel, “She’s never been arrested by the fucking FBI! They found her standing over a decapitated corpse. They aren’t going to just let her go.”
They had just pulled into the parking lot of their motel and Sam waited until they parked before he responded, wanting to give Dean a moment to calm down.
“I understand that she hasn’t dealt with this before,” Sam said in the reassuring voice he always used with people when he wanted them to stay calm. Dean looked over and glared at him picking up on his tone, which caused Sam to sigh. “Okay, look, I know this is a fucked-up situation Dean, but we will get her out of it,” Sam said. “We need to call Cas and let him know what he is going on. We could use his help. Then I think we should head back to the bunker.”
“You want to leave her here?” Dean said incredulously.
Sam rolled his eyes, “I have an idea that might work, but we are going to need Cas and ingredients that we have in the bunker to do it.”
Dean sighed while pinching the bridge of his nose, “Fine. I’ll call Cas. You grab our stuff so we can check out and leave.”
As Sam was packing up the car Dean stood a few paces away waiting for Cas to pick up the phone. They hadn’t talked in a while and Dean felt bad that he was only contacting him because something was wrong. Communication was something he need to work on.
“Hello, Dean,” came Cas’ deep voice through the phone.
“Hey, Cas,” Dean replied. “How have you been?” Dean didn’t want to automatically start off with the bad news, plus he genuinely wanted to know how Cas was doing.
“I’ve been good. I just finished a hunt in Nebraska,” Cas said. “Vengeful spirit. I’m heading back to the bunker now. How are you, Dean?”
Dean wanted to ask how the hunt had gone and why Cas didn’t just come along with them if he planned on hunting, but he stopped himself. Their current predicament was more important.
“I’ve been better,” Dean said with a sigh. “Actually, that is why I called. Y/N was arrested by the FBI.” His hand that wasn’t holding the phone rested on his hip as he looked to the ground. “Sam has an idea on how to get her out, but he says we need to go back to the bunker and that we will need your help.”
Cas is silent for a moment surprised at the turn of events. “Of course. Whatever I can do to help,” he said.
“Thanks, Cas,” Dean replied happy to have Cas’ help, even though he had known Cas would be on board as soon as he knew Y/N was in trouble. “We are currently in Bloomington, Indiana, but we are getting ready to head that way.”
“Okay, good. I will see you at the bunker,” Cas said.
“Sounds good. We will call if we get an update,” Dean responded. “Bye, Cas.”
“Goodbye, Dean.”
As they started their drive back to the bunker Sam explained his plan.
“Archangel grace can be used to jump dimensions, right?” Sam asked even though he and Dean both knew that was true. Dean nodded anyway. “So, what I was thinking is that we, in theory, should be able to use Cas’ grace to open up a portal to where Y/N is. We can go through, grab Y/N and bring her back.”
“Do you even know if that will work?” Dean questioned, glancing at Sam.
“Well,” Sam started. “No, not exactly.”
“So, we have a half-assed plan that we don’t even know is going to work and is taking us farther away from where Y/N is currently locked up?” Dean asked in disbelief.
“I don’t see you coming up with anything,” Sam said, his voice rising.
“Yeah, cause you said you had a plan–,” Dean is interrupted by his phone ringing.
“Hello?” he barked not even looking at the caller ID.
“Dean,” you breathed on the other line and Dean was so relieved to hear your voice. “Where the hell are you?” he knew he shouldn’t let the panic into his voice so you would stay calm, but he couldn’t help it.
“Is that Y/N?” Sam asked. Dean nodded before taking the phone from his ear and putting it on speaker.
“I’m at the police precinct,” you said relieving both men. They hadn’t voiced it, but they had both been afraid they would move you to somewhere with higher security, especially if the feds found out that you were involved with them. They hoped for your sake it didn’t come to that.
“We know what happened and we are so sorry. We should have gone with you. We are going to find a way to get you out. We aren’t sure how, but we will. Oh, and Sam is here too.” Dean said having to get some of the guilt off his chest. Obviously, he knew that Sam had a plan but given the fact that they had no idea if it would even work, he didn’t want to give you false hope. Plus, if their call were being monitored it would be better if the feds didn’t hear what they were planning. Not that they would necessarily believe it.
“Hey Y/N/N. How are you holding up?” Sam asked.
“Hey Sammy. I’ve been better.” You chuckled, but there was no humor to your voice. “It’s bad. I don’t know if I’m going to get out of this one.”
Dean’s grip on the steering wheel tightened and Sam squeezed his eyes shut. They could both hear the fear in your voice, and they hated that they couldn’t do anything but reassure you that it would be okay.
“Hey, none of that. We’ve been in situations worse than this. We will find something. You just need to hang in there. Don’t admit to anything,” Sam said. Dean glanced over and saw the determination on his face. The look made him feel more confident that they would be able to get you home.
“Okay. Yeah, I won’t.” you responded, and they could hear the hope that Sam words had given you.
“I got a hold of Cas earlier,” Dean said. “He is heading this way too.”
“Good. I’m glad he will be back with us,” You said.
“It’s going to be okay. We will figure something out.” Dean repeated.
“I know. I trust you guys. It’s just…” You paused. Sam and Dean waited for you to continue, but when you didn’t, Dean reassured you again.
“We know. We’ve been there.” Dean said.
You were still quiet and the brothers glanced at each other, wondering what was happening on the other side of the call.
“Should I ask for a lawyer?” you questioned suddenly.
Dean turned to Sam, “Well, should she Sammy?”
Sam gave his brother a glare at the nickname, making Dean roll his eyes. Apparently, it was only okay if you called him that.
“It would probably be better if you did. We have had them in the past. That way they can’t try and pull a fake confession out of you,” Sam advised.
“Maybe I should just tell the truth,” You replied. Both of the brothers’ eyes widened, surprised that you would want to tell the FBI about the supernatural.
“That is always a tight rope to walk,” Dean cautioned.
“Yeah, you should really think about that before you do,” Sam added.
“You might be right,” you said, but you sounded slightly dazed and distracted. “I have to go. They are wanting me to get off the phone.”
“Okay. Just be careful. We’ll figure this out.” Dean said.
“I know you will. I–I love you guys.”
Hearing you say those words softened the two men that thought of you as a sister. That wasn’t a word the three of you, or even four counting Cas, used that often and at hearing you say it in a stressful time like this, like you weren’t sure when you would see them again, made the brothers realize that they need to say it more.
“We love you too, Y/N.” Sam said softly.
“Yeah, we do,” Dean confirmed.
With a quiet goodbye you hung up the phone.
Once Sam and Dean got back to the bunker, they saw Cas’ ’78 Lincoln Continental parked in the garage. Dean was relieved to see it no matter how much he hated the car. The boys grabbed their duffels and headed into the bunker. Cas was sitting in the library, several books laid out on the table as he searched through them.
“Hey, Cas,” Dean said, setting his bag down on the side of table not covered in books. Cas looked up at the two men.
“Hello, Dean. Sam.” Cas replied. “I’ve been searching, trying to find something that can help us, but I have not been particularly successful.”
Dean pulled out a chair that was across from Cas. “Well, that’s okay,” he said sitting down in the chair. “Sam has a plan.” Sarcasm dripped from his tone.
Sam rolled his eyes, pulling out the chair next to Dean’s. “My theory is that if we can use archangel grace to jump between dimensions, we can use angel grace to teleport to other places here on Earth.” Sam told Cas.
Cas squinted his eyes and tilled his head. “In theory that could work.” He said, causing Dean to grunt. “I have never tried it, though. Not long ago I wouldn’t have needed a teleporting spell to go anywhere in the world.”
Dean sighed; his head tilted back so he was facing the ceiling. “Okay,” he said, looking to Sam and Cas. “If we do this and it does work, I’m going.”
“No, you’re not.” Cas said. “Y/N is with the FBI, who you have been on the wanted by for years and still would be if they didn’t think you were dead. I’m going”
Dean sighed, knowing he was right as much as he hated it. “Fine. Let’s do this.”
The three of them went to work finding the ingredients to the original spell. A pile of bones, dried herbs, cuts of wood fungus, and a pinch of dark powder, were all found in the storage room of the bunker. They added in a lock of Y/N’s hair that Dean grabbed from your hairbrush, so they could direct the spell toward your location.
After having everything assembled it was time for the final ingredient. Cas took the knife that Dean held out to him. He brought the knife across is neck letting some of his grace flow out into the small glass bottle that Dean held up to him. After the glass was filled, Cas brought his hand to his throat, healing the wound with a glow of light from his palm.
Dean took the bottle and pored it over the bowl that held the other ingredients. As he poured the grace into the bowl Sam chanted in Enochian.
“Mah ray, fah doh, em lah. Kah day, em lah. Kah day, em lah!”
There was a flash of light, before the portal formed in the room. A crack glowing a dark gold. Cas looked to Sam and Dean for a moment before he walked through the portal, disappearing from the brothers’ view. Now all they could do is wait.
