I am curious to know if you would "want" to see TK and Carlos dealing with homophobia on the show? Cause I love that the show didn't make a huge deal about them being gay as in them dancing in a bar together without problems (and generally never facing any problems in that regard - as far as i am aware?) and TK (on screen) never having to come out to the 126 or had to explain that he had a boyfriend - it was just normal (as it should be ) but unfortunately that's not how it always goes IRL and even tho it may be slightly different/better in Austin especially people in Texas are not as open minded that it's not an issue for some. And I feel like TK and Carlos would have very different reactions to it and the way Ronen/Rafa could play in their own experiences may be helpful for some people who have to deal with similar stuff?

This is a really fascinating question and I'm kind of on the fence about it tbh. I also like the way the show sort of tells their story without homophobia, it really is refreshing in a way because so, so often any kind of marginalized community only really gets their stories told through the lens of their collective trauma (gay people only get stories about fighting homophobia, black people only get stories about slaves, etc). So it's almost a bit revolutionary to have a canon queer couple that gets to exist and love each other in a fictional world where bigotry doesn't affect them. The only times it really does are like that one scene in a season one episode where that woman was bigoted against basically everyone and she was made the butt of the joke, and in the fact that Carlos thinks his parents have an issue with him being gay but then it turns out that they don't and the real villain in that story is a lack of communication and complicated family dynamics. I do like that a lot, that they get to just ... be. They both casually say "my boyfriend" to someone who they presumably haven't previously come out to (TK to the woman his dad is dating, Carlos to a detective he's working with), and neither of those people have any more reaction than they would if they'd said "my girlfriend". It's an idealized view of reality but its one that we all deserve and it's soothing to see it portrayed on network television.

But then on the other hand it isn't entirely realistic, especially where they live, and they're both such gifted dramatic actors and it would be good to show that side of things too because it is the world we actually live in. The actors coming out stories are sort of opposite to TK and Carlos interestingly, Rafa has said that his family was very loving and supportive basically right away and Ronen has talked about how he stayed in the closet for a long time because he was in physical danger from people in his family, but they could definitely use their own experiences to bring a lot of realism to those scenes if there was a storyline where they had to deal with some kind of bigotry. They're both so passionate about LGBTQ issues and they're both such committed advocates in that fight. It might be really powerful, to show that this incredibly strong couple do still face discrimination and that they fight it together and they lean on each other and they have the support of all the other people who love them.

Idk!! I rambled and I don't really have a good answer for you. I'd be so interested to hear what other people think.

It's supposed to be my 4 year HRTiversary but something happened.

A few months back I stopped feeling as much like a girl, then I started taking T as well as E, then I stopped taking E, then I stopped wearing women's clothing then I stopped wearing makeup. I might go back to E/being a girl at a later date, but I might not.

Now I wear suits, use the men's toilets, go by he him pronouns, and I'm happy - or as happy as I was as a girl. I still feel trans, but I'm not really transfeminine at this point, and I'm clearly not transmasc either.

I don't think i count as transmisogyny affected, even. I just seem to most people like an effeminate gay man (they're not wrong, but it's more complicated than that, same as it is for anyone really)

I don't have any regrets - I look at my tits (small and perky) and I think they're neat. I like that estrogen gave me a softness and a connection to my emotions I had previously been lacking, but I like that T has given me the composure and poise to push back the tears and communicate to ppl how I feel instead of just falling apart and letting people see how I feel from that.

It's hard though. Am I detrans? Not really but I do make some people uncomfortable, I suspect. Or a joke that I could have made without a second thought suddenly becomes a minefield of "is he allowed to say that"

There's another detrans grifter in the media. This one is complaining that testosterone made him bald so he "may as well" keep being a guy even tho he regrets it. Fuckin idiot. Men go bald. If I go bald I think I'm gonna cry, (only I can't cry now.) Does this make me a hypocrite?

What's a HRTiversary anyway - it's a big deal for some, for others it's just "the earliest date possible they could get on hrt."

There's other people like me, irl and online, doing similar things - retransitioning rather than detransitioning - but I don't really feel that connected to them either. I know people desperate to tell you that they're a boy (but a girl really!!!!) and try and look as clocky as possible - this reads as weirdly transphobic against the tboys. There's a way to honor and appreciate trans beauty without fetishising clockiness, that's chasershit to me.

Not to stay on this topic but I think I should add my feelings as well since I have been holding them in. Nat, we get it the Ashley Graham stunt was cringy and embarrassing and Kaydom’s version of Karlie isn’t true at all. Hockey. Ice Hockey. Although Mena grew up in Toronto for most of his life, he had never ventured into actually playing the sport, at least not to the level of his partner. So when his current hockey enthusiast girlfriend rented out the ice rink for a few hours, just for them. Well– He was perplexed to say the least. “Did we really have to rent out the entire place?” Mena asks, teasingly as they walk with their hockey boots to the stands. “Of course! Aren’t you glad that I didn’t make you do all of this in front of other people?” Y/N smiles, obviously amused by it all as she takes a seat, taking off her sneakers and putting on the skates. She had a point but Mena worried with her eyes only on him that it would be more pressure. She was a pro after all. 

“Guess I have beginner nerves.” Mena admits with a laugh, doing the same as her, making sure the skates were tight but not too tight. “Here.” Y/N offers, extending her hand out. Mena takes it before he gets pulled up onto his feet. “This is an odd feeling.” He states, confused by it all. “Come on, we don’t have time to waste, there’s so much to teach you!” Y/N says excitedly, making her way to the rink, jumping on the ice like it was nothing, simple as walking. Mena made his way over, glad he wore protective gear for his joints, he just knew his body would be covered in bruises the next morning. He gets on the ice, hesitant at first before slowly skating towards Y/N. Y/N claps, teasing Mena yet again. “You made it! I’m so proud of you.” – “Oh shut up.” Mena laughs, tugging at Y/N’s scarf playfully. 

Mena and Y/N skate around the rink a few times as warm up before Y/N skates over and grabs a stick for Mena to use. “Here you go– oh and don’t forget this.” She leans over the barrier and pulls out a massive helmet. “And what exactly do you plan to do to me? Torture?” Mena jokes, though he lowkey worries about his safety. “Just some goal training, it’s easy! Just stand in the goal and try to stop the puck.” Mena blinks, staring at Y/N in disbelief. “This really is just fun to you? Seeing me suffer?” Mena says as he’s pushed over to one of the goals, his worries ignored only to be laughed at. Oh how he would get his revenge one day. 

“Don’t think too much, you’ll be safe.” Y/N reassures him, putting the helmet on his head. He groans at the fit, trying to straighten it out. “If I have to go to the hospital for this–” Mena is interrupted as Y/N lifts the cage of his helmet, leaning forward and pressing a soft kiss to his lips, warming his once cold face in seconds. He kisses back, enjoying the touch before Y/N pulls back and slams the cage shut, laughing. “Do you not trust me? Your own girlfriend? A hockey player?” She grabs a hold of his shirt, pulling him closer her, looking up at him. “Of course I trust you.” Mena states as he recovers from the shock of the helmet. “Just, go easy on me okay?” Y/N shakes his helmet playfully before skating into position. 

Y/N skates in a small circle, circling her puck collection. Mena watches carefully as she lines up her first shot. Whack! The puck goes flying through his legs, he barely moved. He’d seen her play in games, plenty of times, but it still shocked him to see her work her magic. She lines up another shot before he has time to prepare, this time it flies right past his arm. “Jesus christ, Y/N! What happened to going easy?” – “This is easy!” She yells back. This time she shoots straight for Mena’s legs, he tries his best to stop it, sliding his foot over but his whole body follows too, falling onto the ice. 

“Shit!” He curses, trying to get back up off the ice. Y/N laughs and skates over and tries to pull him up but his balance sets them both off. They fall into a heap, her on top of him, legs tangled, hockey sticks clacking together, Y/N hitting her head on his helmet. She laughs at the slight pain she feels, rubbing the spot. “Are you okay?” Mena asks, sitting up on his elbows– thank god for padding. “I should be asking you that.” Y/N teases. “Well, this is another reason having the ice rink to ourselves comes in handy. She makes herself comfortable on his lap, grabbing his hands so he sits up. “What? So you can be a total tease out in public as well?” Mena teases back, poking Y/N’s sides, causing her to squirm. “Hm, Maybe.” Y/N sing songs, pleased with herself. 

“Next time, we’re going to my gym and I’m making you do parkour stunts.” Y/N groans in protest. “You know I suck at stuff like that!” – “And you know I suck at this!” Mena laughs. Y/N sighs with a smile. “Fine, it’s a deal. Now stop complaining and stop one of my shots for once.” Y/N states, getting up from their spot, helping Mena up on his feet. What seemed like a million shots, ten confirmed bruises Mena felt developing on his skin and three hours later, they were spent. Spending the rest of their time at the ice rink cafe they ordered cheat food and hot chocolates to soothe the soul while watching others starting to enter the rink, people watching and judging others skills. Although it was painful, Mena had a good time, hoping in the future they’d be able to something like this again and soon.

I got to the part where Father’s ‘creating’ humans. That was freaky. Tbh though my favorite parts of this volume might have been Pride’s defeat and Kimblee’s farewell…that was perfect. (P.S: You know I mentioned a piano recital? It’s not happening. There was an incident with the teachers at the place where I was learning piano so I don’t go there anymore.

Basically, my mom was already sort of frustrated, because they also teach violin there and my litle sister used to learn violin- the teacher told us we’d have to come way earlier for lessons because she was busy with other lessons too, so we did, but she was like literally never on time? We came early but my little sister had to have piano lessons first because the violin teacher didn’t show up until later. So there was that.

And then there was the thing where they just didn’t let us decide the lesson times at all? Like, always “we’re too busy at that time, that’s too early, too many children at that time…” and they were kinda rude about it too (also once I went there at a later time and there actually weren’t that many kids? Wth)

Then they sent my mom a message. You know how usually you have to study with music theory books too when you learn how to use an instrument? My little sister’s only five (turning six this August) and she was often tired out from soccer lessons by the time she went to piano, so my mom asked the teachers if she could just not do music theory when she was too tired. they agreed.

But the message was basically 'she keeps saying she doesn’t want to do music theory and when we let her rest she keeps wandering around and bothering other people/interrupting other people’s lessons’. Like, ok, if she’d been doing stuff like that since the beginning we could understand that, but I had piano lessons at around the same time as her and she literally just sat and read books when her lessons are over and she’s not doing music theory? Also, until that message all the teachers just kept telling us what a wonderful, intelligent student she was and there was literally no mention of her bothering anyone so it was like??? what is this???

And when my mom called the teacher and asked her about the message she was like “I don’t see how that’s rude, please stop being so pushy/bossy, also I was always on time for the violin lessons what are you talking about?” Just. Wow.

When we went to pick up our music books after mom said we weren’t going to take lessons there anymore, one of the teachers came out and kept gushing about how 'Evans and her sister were SUCH amazing students, we’ll be so sad to see them go’ and she hugged me? tbh it felt really awkward and I was screaming internally through the whole thing because WOW I hate being touched by people I’m not close with lol)
