Real reminder to you all, again, that non of this stuff is to be encouraged irl and this is all meant as a fictional scenario!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Charlie?”
You could hear him softly cursing in French on the other line, whispering as the bed creaked in the background. It was obvious he had just woken up, and you felt terrible for waking him as well, knowing the day he probably had.
“Qu'est-ce qu'il y a, tu ferais mieux d'avoir une bonne raison de me réveiller (what's the matter, you'd better have a good reason for waking me up)-”
“Charles, I've been arrested, I need someone to come get me.”
The muttering stopped, grogginess disappearing from his voice almost instantly. “Y/n? Qu'est-ce qui s'est passé bon sang chéri (y/n? what the hell happened darling)?”
“Charles, not now please,” You chastised softly, looking to the door as the guards quietly conversed among themselves outside the room, “I have no idea why this is happening and what they’re gonna do to me.” “How did you even manage to get arrested… Nevermind that, I just hope you haven’t answered anything they've asked of you.” He groaned, heavy thumping over the phone as you looked nervously at the door for any indication they’d been listening to your conversation.
“I’m not that dull,” You said quietly, looking down at your lap, “and it couldn't have been anything i did, all they did was seize the car from me in the lot and bring me here.”
He paused for a moment, silent over the line. You pressed the phone against your ear, straining for any sounds on the other side of the line.
“Stay put. I’m coming to get you.”
A shiver ran down your spine and you fumbled, tripping over your words in a hurry to get them out.
“Char, what are you planning on doing?”
He laughed humorlessly over the phone, the sound of keys jingling and door slamming making you jump back from the phone as if it’d grown a head.
“Exactly what I said I'm going to do, come and pick you up.”
You swallowed the thick ball that’d formed in your throat.
“You know what- never mind, send someone else in your place, maybe Carlos?” You bargained, earning a soft chuckle from him.
“Pas de souci, mon amour. Je ne fais que commencer (no worries, my love. I'm just getting started). They should’ve learned not to fuck with the wrong person. I’ll be there in another 20 minutes, you won’t need to call anyone else.”
You shivered as the line went dead, looking at the now opened door, all the cops watching you with a suspicious look.
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
All you could do was shake your head.
Not even a grand total of 15 minutes later, a shouting match erupted, followed by loud bangs.
There was a single person you could think of who was capable of this level of chaos, and you could have swore you’d heard him threatening the cops right now.
“Where is she?”
“Sir-”
“Don’t sir me, where the hell is she? Don’t tell me I have to blow another head off just for you to tell me.”
Everything seemed to fall silent for a couple moments, only a few voices daring to make a sound.
“Char?” You called out, a couple beats of silence weighing you down.
The sound of footsteps only got louder, stopping in front of the room you were in.
Keys jangled, the door slamming open as Charles walked in, a couple of police tailing him timidly to the outside of the door.
There were dark stains on his otherwise clean shirt, an indication of what happened visible in the peeved look on his face. Your eyes slowly trailed to his hand, a gun held tightly in his grip, smoking oh so slightly.
Noticing how your attention had drifted to the weapon, he put it down on the other side of the table as he approached you, shrugging off his jacket as he approached you.
“Tu vas bien maintenant (you're all right now),” He said quietly, running his fingers through your hair as he pulled you to him, “Come on, we’re going home.”
You clutched his arm as he stood you up, eyes glued to the floor as you walked next to him.
You could hear their disappointed exhales, tinged with a bit of surprise as Charles kept a firm grip on your back, guiding you through the long hall to the main office.
As you continued to walk, he gently stopped you, turning around in the middle of the room as someone called for him.
“Fucks sake,” He sighed, turning around.
“Sir, i believe there has been a mistake-”
“What sort of mistake do you think you’ve made?” He snarled, his hand running down to your hand, lacing his fingers into yours.
“You see, the car we identified was yours and we thought that perhaps she’d stole it-”
“And you didn’t think to call me so I could deal with them myself?” He chuckled humorlessly, pulling you to his side. You held your breath, completely aware of what was about to happen.
“Charles, no-”
He shook his head at you, basically telling you to not interfere. You obliged, eyebrows creasing as you watch the poor man who had tried to explain himself get shoved to his knees.
“First off, you interrupt my very precious time, and then you have the audacity to say that you’ve made a mistake?” He stands back, waving at someone behind him to step forward to his side with a gun. “Do you know who she is?”
The man stumbled over his words, trying to plead for his life, but you already knew it was too late.
“Since you don’t seem to know, let me tell you. She’s the last face you’ll be seeing but since she’s here, I've decided to spare the rest of you for the time being. If I ever hear of anything happening to her again, anyone in this room will not be spared like they were today.” He remarked bemusedly, turning to you with the widest grin you’d ever seen from him.
“Chéri, close your eyes, and cover your ears as well.”
You didn’t need to be told twice. The second you did, there was a bang, followed by a thumping sound.
Something warm was on your face, but you didn’t dare open your eyes, shaky hands coming off your ears to touch your face.
“Don’t.” He was closer than you thought, causing you to jump as he rubbed what you assumed was a handkerchief against your face . “Don’t say anything, don’t look, just follow me.”
You cracked open an eye, briefly wandering to the pool of blood a couple of feet away from you.
“What did I just tell you?” He remarked, barking at the rest in rapid french as he grabbed your hand and pulled you out the doors of the station.
There was an awkward silence as you lumbered into the passenger side seat, pressing yourself against the seat as he pulled out and onto the road.
“I’m sorry.”
“What are you apologizing for?” He muttered, hand reaching over to squeeze your thigh.
“I thought you’d be upset with me.” You looked down, noticing the dried blood on his hands, not that it made much of a difference to you anymore. Less than two years ago, you would have been horrified at the idea of blood within six feet of you, but you had come to accept it as a part of him you could never erase.
“No-” He punched the brakes, eyes slightly apologetic as you jumped from the sudden shock of stopping.
“No, no, Y/n, look at me,” His hand left your thigh, fingers curling around your chin and pulling your face to his, “You are not responsible for any of that, i gave you the car, remember? You are not to blame yourself because I would gladly do anything for you.”
“Char-” You whined, muffled slightly by the pressure of his fingers against your cheeks.
“I would give you the world to see you happy, so shut up and take it.” He pressed his lips harshly against yours, almost needy in the way he nipped at your bottom. Warmth seemed to stir inside you as he let you go, your own mind racing at a million miles per hour as he returned to the wheel as if nothing had happened.
However, under his breath, he muttered something that even escaped you as your thoughts drifted off elsewhere. “Le monde brûlera, si tu le veux ma chérie, je te le promets (the world will burn, if you want it to my darling, I promise).”

Street Rat ~ YANDERE BAKUGO KATSUKI
TW: OBSESSION, DELUSION, YANDERE THEMES
Okay but imagine street urchin Bakugo with a spoilt brat darling. You work in a fancy clothing store on a posh street, modeling clothes in the window front for the adoring eyes of your admirers.
Bakugo is one of those admirers. But he's not like the rest of them. He's special.
Why else would you blow kisses whenever he was around? Or drape over your chair so prettily like that? It was all for him, he knew it.
"Hiiiii Katsuki," you drawled with a lazy grin. He was dead tired but he couldn't go home without seeing you before the store closed.
He came every day without fail and if he was lucky, he would find a pretty trinket in the trash piles that he could gift to you. They were never good enough, no matter how well Bakugo polished and cleaned them but he liked giving you presents. Why risk selling them for money when he could potentially be rewarded with a beautiful smile?
"Hey beautiful," he murmured, pressing a hand to the glass window, not too hard, in case the store owner yelled at him for leaving grimy fingerprints again. "I missed you today."
You giggled at that. "Aw I bet you missed seeing my pretty face, huh?" Bakugo nodded fervently and you laughed, throwing your head back.
He admired the smooth curve of your neck, wishing he could reach out and touch you, just once. But if he touched you now, he would probably leave dark smudges on your perfect skin. No matter how hard he tried to clean up before he saw you, it wouldn't be enough to not dirty you.
"You're so sweet, Katsuki," you cooed, kicking your legs up on a stool so Bakugo could glimpse of the smooth expanse of your thigh. His eyes drank it in hungrily and you smirked. "Anybody else would be lucky to have you."
"You're the only one I want, baby. There will never be anyone else for me," he said gruffly, eyes boring into you. God, you were so perfect, so flawless, just for him.
"Oh come on Kats, you know we just can't be together," you sighed dramatically. "Someone like me, well, I deserve the best, don't I?"
"You do, sweets, I swear you do. Look I-I'm putting something together for you, no, for us! It's gonna be great I swear-"
"Y/N! Closing time!"
You glanced up from admiring your nails and called out an answer to your boss further in the store. You spared Bakugo a bored look. "Look, I've got to head home. You're cute and all, but do you really think you can afford me?"
That stung Bakugo a bit. If it were anyone else, he would have beaten them into a bloody mess but he would never do that to you. But he couldn't just let you keep brushing him off like that. You had to notice him. You had to finally take him seriously.
Bakugo swallowed thickly, mind buzzing frantically. "What if I could get money? And a house? And lots of fancy things for you? Would you love me then?"
How irritating, you thought, glaring at the man. You give them an inch and they think they deserve a fucking mile. Well, it's not like he had any actual hope. You smiled wickedly.
"You know what, Katsuki? If you get a really nice mansion and lots of money and hell, a real fucking job, I'll marry you!"
Bakugo's mouth dropped open. Marry...? You would marry him if he just got those measly things?
You snorted at his expression and left the display area, calling over your shoulder, "Good luck, Kats!"
Bakugo trudged away slowly, still reeling from your words. A house, a job and money. Just three things and you would finally be all his. He began to laugh, softly and first, then louder until he had doubled over with tears in his eyes. You would marry him! Him!
A manic grin stretched over his face, making his cracked lips bleed. "I hope you won't regret ever saying that to me, baby. I'll make sure that you become mine~"
A/N: Don't forget to like and repost if you enjoyed this! Let me know if you want part 2! xxx

"The End of the World is a Product".
I don't normally make....any posts, but the Fallout show, and some of the response to it has me wanting to actually put some words down here. There will be spoilers for the Fallout show if you want to avoid that.
Several people whose opinion I respect a lot have their own thoughts on the show, Amazon making it, and general disappointment with where Fallout as an IP has gone in the several decades it has existed. I agree with a lot of these statements and think that Fallout peaked with New Vegas, and Bethesda's ownership and usage of the IP has been uninspired at best.
That said, I did watch the show. And generally, I liked it. I have some complaints (like, wtf if the Brotherhood even doing? Who is really in charge? The writers *blew up* the NCR, just like that? For....some reason?) The main thing I have an issue with, is the dissonance between the message of the show, and the company that made it.
I think the parts that really made the show were Coop's flashbacks to before the war. I love his character, so much. And from Coop, The Ghoul, I get my dissonance.
We see him interacting with general Hollywood. It's basically the same as ours. Despite what Some People(tm) will say, Hollywood is a tool of the United States Machine. An extension of the country's will. Coop is making a cowboy movie, one of many he has made. He expresses being uncomfortable with his new movie's seeming obsession with killing, not wanting his character to kill the villain when he is begging for his life. The director tells him "people want to see a good man pushed too far." We see later, after the war, Coop made the movie the way the director wanted.
Coop's wife works in marketing, or something like it, for Vault-Tec. Coop likes the idea of the Vaults at first. Save people from the end of the world. Good stuff, thinks Coop. He was in the Marines, fought at Anchorage. He believes in protecting people and his country. So when his wife asks him to do an ad for Vault-Tec, he says yes.
Very quickly, he leaves making movies, and basically now works for Vault-Tec. Has a big party, invites a bunch of his friends, and only one of his acting friends shows up. Says everyone else declined on moral grounds, because they don't like Vault-Tec, and all the other mega corporations working with them or around the world. Coop's friend mentions he sold his voice/a character he created to the company that makes Mr. Handy's, and how everyone and everything is a product now, and embracing that is the only way to make money anymore. "You're a product, I'm a product, the end of the world is a product."
Coop later meets one of his acting friends, Charles Whiteknife, to talk about the party and why he didn't go. Charles brings up Vault-Tec, the mega corporations, and "Fiduciary Responsibility". I never, ever, in my mind would think a Fallout show, executive produced by "Thanks" Todd Howard, would bring that up.
Charles lays it out for Coop: Vault-Tec makes money selling Vaults. If they want to make money, then everyone's fear of the end of the world is really what is for sale. The end of the world is the product.
So no peace talks to calm down the war between the US and China. No safe feeling. They need fear. They want to make money, so you cannot feel safe. We see a prelude at Coop's earlier party: two Vault-Tec executives are talking about heading off those exact peace talks before anything definite is done so quarterly profits go up. Even the president is mentioned as missing, but that could be a kidnapping or a reference to the Enclave.
Coop doesn't want to believe that. Why would his wife work there if that was the case?
We see, as the flashbacks go on, how much she knows, but won't give away. She needs her job so her family can get into "one of the good Vaults". Coop ends up spying on a meeting between his wife, a Vault-Tec exec, and a bunch of major corporations and private entities. A nice cameo set up for big fans. We see West-Tek, Big MT, ROBCO, all of them. Vault-Tec wants them to buy into the Vaults, so they can make money.
So they can control the end of the world.
They think a total monopoly in the post-apocalypse will save the world from war.
Then the real reveal: Vault-Tec, in order to make guarantees on their experimental Vaults, and to make guarantees to the investors, is going to drop the bomb. Maybe not all of them, but definitely start the Great War.
Because it will make them money now, and when the world is over, they can rule over the ashes with a gaggle of experimented-on, traumatized survivors, brainwashed to do what they want, and led by the preserved executives that helped end the world.
"Well, thanks for the spoilers, RedSparrow, but what is the point?"
Well, when people write about the future, like George Orwell did in 1984, or Ray Bradbury in Fahrenheit 451, or even Suzanne Collins in Hunger Games, they weren't really writing about the future. They were writing about the problems they dealt with in their present, exaggerated to make them stand out.
"What happens when the cattle ranchers own half the town?" Charlie Whiteknife asks Coop when they meet at the bar.
"The town burns down."
"Exactly. The ranchers are in charge now."
This isn't really new stuff for Fallout, if you have played any of the games beyond 3,4, or 76. (Hell, 76 tries to act like Vault-Tec are the good guys for some stupid ass reason.)
We now live in that moment. Maybe we didn't when Fallout 1 came out, or maybe it was easier to hide then. At this point, it's nearly impossible to really ignore, and anyone saying that is incorrect or a good thing is just burying their head in the sand to avoid the truth.
Maybe we don't have Vaults, or Vault-Tec, but we have Amazon, selling us everything and grinding employees to dust on vague promises of earning a living.
We have our own ROBCO, and the CEO of our version of ROBCO bought Twitter because his ex left him for a trans woman and is currently trying to sell losers online his idea of a sex bot and shitty cars that rust and explode.
We have social media monopolies that live off of hate-engagement and spreading fear. Hell, the US government is banning social media platforms they can't control, and privatizing things like internet access through Starlink. Elongated Muskrat tried to cut off Ukraine's access to it after one of their generals told him to shut up and stop sucking up to Russia.
None of this is new. I'm probably sounding like your weird boomer uncle online right now.
But your weird boomer uncle doesn't think they will end the world.
But they will.
So here's the dissonance I struggle with: why is Amazon, one of the many companies enshitti-fying everything right now, making a show that tells you the plan?
It's easier to imagine the end of the world, than it is to imagine the end of capitalism, so the saying goes.
But the end of the world is the plan of capitalism. That's the end goal.
And it's wild to me that the Fallout show, made by Amazon, is the one telling us this.

okay fuck it jamie self perception post
jamie has been signed to city since he was a child. this is how the academy system works - they recruit players (children) from local grassroots leagues and bring them into their club system, hoping to raise them up to play for their club in the future (or sell them off to other teams for profit). these players are typically between the ages of 9 and 10 when they're first recruited, but can be younger/older. they're evaluated every year, and players can be cut at any time.
i think jamie joined city when he was around 9, solely because of the fact that he said his dad started showing up when he got good at football, and georgie my beloved would not let jamie go on a trip abroad with a complete stranger to him when he was 14. i think james started coming back around when jamie was somewhere between 11 and 12, playing for city's u14 team, and his skill at that age level is how james heard about him (it's not uncommon to hear about great players who are that age. city recently signed a like. legendary 14 year old and i've heard about it (young boys should not be having their egos inflated like that at 14 but that's beside the point)).
that's a whole lot of rambling before i even start touching on the original point – the contract jamie's had signed since he was ~9 that dictates what he must and mustn't do. this is the idea that he's had of himself in his head from that very young age.
screenshots are provided from the 23/24 premier league youth development forms bc honestly i cba to go back and find anything older (i've tried looking and it's not working so you're getting this) but
Tumblr media
the scholar here is the academy player. 5.1.3 and 5.1.4 are what interest me here. jamie was obligated to not only train & play to the best of his ability always, but he was obligated to maintain a high standard of physical fitness at all times from the age of 9.
think of the thoughts that might put in a young jamie tartt's mind. he had to be at his peak always. if he wasn't at his peak, he was disobeying his contract. he was owned by his club, and he knew that if they sell him, they'll make a whole lot of money off of him (there's a certain base fee x number of years the player was trained + extras = total homegrown player transfer fee algorithm but i don't want to do math rn so im not touching on that). i don't think jamie ever wanted city to sell him, so i think he put pressure on himself to be at his best always, to never let his standards slip, and when james came back into the picture, that pressure only grew exponentially.
Tumblr media
it's also interesting looking at the "the scholar shall not" section of the contract. 5.3.1 is interesting bc like. if the club (city) didn't think his house on the estate was safe they could've fully just. Moved Him. but 5.3.3 is insane to me. especially the beginning. "the scholar shall not indulge in any activity or practice which might endanger his fitness". this means no fun roller skating birthday parties. this means jamie probably knew how to ride a bike before he was 9 bc if he "indulged" in learning when he was with city that might have endangered his fitness. no rock climbing. no tree climbing.
and if jamie took things as seriously as i think he did (boy really wanted to play football, that was his dream in life, i don't think he would've purposely done anything to endanger that dream), i think he missed out on some fun in his childhood solely bc he was Keeping His Body In Full Fitness For His Club.
which brings us to Adult Jamie. bc he was raised in this environment, raised with the mindset of My Body Belongs To My Club, My Body is an Asset for my Club, it makes even more sense why he'd put up with the auction at the gala without starting a fight (even if the whole manipulate keeley & possibly bribe bex thing happened behind the scenes).
his club (even though he was on loan, it was his club for the season), was auctioning off Its Own Asset (jamie's body) to the highest bidder for a night. jamie's body, from a very, very young age (does jamie remember much before he was signed to city? i don't think so) has always Belonged to His Club.
this is also part of the reason that i headcanon jamie doesn't like driving - driving is, in his mind an Activity Which Might Endanger His Fitness.
also. for the record. this stuff is also in the professional player's contracts too.
Tumblr media
the player agrees to maintain a high standard of physical fitness at all times and not to indulge in any activity sport or practice which might endanger such fitness.
Tumblr media
3.1.6 is another reason i think jamie went along with the stuff at the gala too. the player agrees to comply with and act in accordance with all lawful instructions of any authorised official of the club. rebecca/higgins/whoever put on the gala is an authorised official of the club. he kind of. had to by contract not put up a fight with them about this
Tumblr media
the player agrees that he shall not undertake or be involved in any activity or practice which will knowingly cause to be void or voidable...policy of insurance maintained for the benefit of the club on the life of the player or covering his physical well-being including injury.
he still can't do anything that might get him hurt. i ignore that he engages in kink practice both in canon and in my own headcanons bc i think the heavier kink stuff really only comes in later seasons' timelines and even then he's engaging in that kink stuff with someone(s) who knows that this stuff is in his contract. they know his limits.
anyways something something jamie's body is an asset for his club (city and then richmond) and i think that says a lot about the way he views himself. you know ?

Fallen Feathers (Pt. 2)
Fantasy AU ft. Knight! John Price
Summary: Price does his research, trying to find his monster. What he finds instead could change the trajectory of his life...
(Part 1 Here)
Word Count: 1.5k
Author's Note: Hello! Sorry it's been over a month since part 1- I am mentally ill and in college. I'm not super happy with this part, but it's necessary to kick this story into high gear. Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John walked through the streets of Edriel, smiling at people as he did. He was headed to the eastern side of town, a place he didn’t visit often. He was originally from the east, but his parents had moved him north- towards the castle -when he was a young boy.
He headed over to the square, making friendly conversation with merchants, playing with some of the children. But that’s not why he was here.
Truth be told, this wasn’t even his jurisdiction. He patrolled the west more often than not. But his eyes settled on a frail old woman, selling her pastries. He smiled.
“Mrs. Dresel,” he greeted, tipping his head. “Good to see you again.”
“Oh, Johnny!” she said, her voice crackly and high but oh so sweet. He grimaced at the name, but made no remark- just settling on a polite smile. “I haven’t seen you in ages! Look how big you are!”
“Yes, I have gotten quite big,” he said, looking at her array of pastries. His eyes landed on two rolled buns- stuffed with strawberry jam and drizzled with honey. He fished through the pocket of his trousers. “How much for two?”
“10 Den,” she said, wrapping the two up for him. “I have a feeling you aren’t just here for the pastries, Johnny,” she said, giving him a knowing smirk. He sighed, shaking his head and clicking his tongue.
“No, ma’am, I’m not,” he admitted, handing her the Den and taking the pastries. “I was wondering- do you remember a fire in this side of town?” he asked her.
“A fire?” she repeated, looking up as she thought. She scratched her head, getting flakes of pastry in her graying hair.
He pressed further. “One that left a girl badly burned.”
“Oh, heavens no,” she said with a wave of her wrinkly hand. “No, we haven’t had anything like that. Why?”
John smiled politely. “Just Knight business, ma’am. Don’t be concerned. Have a good day, Mrs. Dresel,” he said, tipping his head again before heading off down the street.
He huffed, stuffing the pastries in his pocket. He knew it- there hadn’t been a fire, at least not here. Still, he best check the logs.
It didn’t make sense. Why would she lie? Why wouldn’t she want to be seen? He wasn’t there to arrest her- though, maybe he should be.
~~~~~
John rubbed his eyes, strained and tired. He’d been reading old logs for hours, faded handwriting lit only by the candle burning next to him.
This is ridiculous.
He had a monster to catch- one that he had no description for. That’s what he should be searching for- not some woman in the woods.
Perhaps she was mad. That could explain it.
But she didn’t sound mad. She sounded like any other villager. And even she recognized the absurdity of the King’s goose chase.
“Oi!”
Another Knight banged on the table he was at, pulling John from his thoughts. He jumped, color rising to his cheeks as he rolled his eyes.
“What the hell do you want, Smith?” he grumbled, setting the log book down.
Smith grinned, sitting on the table. “Just wanted to see how your monster hunt was going,” he replied with a snicker.
John glared at him. “About as well as you’d think, given no direction.”
“I heard it’s a crow,” Smith started, boyish grin growing larger. “Big, black wings, sharp talons- sharper than your sword. Ugly thing, supposedly.”
“And where’d you hear that?” he asked, voice gruff with annoyance.
“Rumors from when I was just a lad,” he said, hopping off the desk to pace. “Mum used to call it a fallen angel- swore she saw it once, in the dead of night.”
John resisted the urge to roll his eyes again. She ran a hand through his beard, scratching at the skin. “Right. Well, if I see it, I’ll tell you,” he said in a grumble.
Smith clicked his tongue. “Atta boy. Now- what the hell are you doing with the old logs?”
“You should learn to mind your business,” Price snapped, earning an amused chuckle from Smith.
“Oh, I see.”
“See what?”
Smith just grinned. “Is this for a maiden?”
Price froze. He felt his cheeks warm up- though he chalked it up to annoyance. “…yes. But not in that way-“
“In what way, then?” he asked cheekily.
“None of your concern-“
“Price’s got a little lady!” he exclaimed.
“I do not-“
“Who would’ve ever thought? You finally settling down-“
“Fuck off, Smith,” Price finally growled, slamming the log book shut and looking up at him angrily.
Smith, already halfway out the door, replied, “Night, Price~!”
The door closed, and John was alone again. He closed his eyes, leaning back in his chair. A crow? A fallen angel? Smith was known for his stories, that’s for sure.
“Ridiculous,” he muttered, blowing out the candle and heading to his quarters.
~~~~
The next morning, he hopped on Obsidian and headed back out to the woods. He knocked on her door once more. “Miss Adelaide?” he called gruffly.
“Hang on!” she called back. He heard the curtain close. “Come in!”
John opened the door, walking into the dark house once more. It smelled wonderful- whatever stew she had over the fire made him realize he had skipped breakfast.
“What has you out here again?” she asked him, back in her corner.
“You,” he replied, pulling something wrapped in cloth from his pocket. “I-“ he stopped, a sudden sense of nervousness filling him. He cleared his throat. “I brought you some of Mrs. Dresel’s pastries,” he admitted, growing a bit sheepish. His face flooded with warmth.
“…you did?” she asked quietly. He nodded.
“If you don’t want them, I won’t be upset-“
“No, I do want them,” she said, sounding surprised. He realized she wouldn’t come get them, and he set them on her table.
“Well- good.”
A hush fell over them, a bit tense. He looked around her home, and cleared his throat again. “Uh- seen any monsters?” he asked.
She laughed a little. “No, I haven’t,” she replied. He nodded.
“Me either,” he grumbled, shoulders relaxing a bit. She snorted.
“The King’s lost it,” she murmured, and John sighed. He didn’t correct her, or warn her. He just silently agreed.
“I had a fellow knight tell me that he believes it’s a crow,” he said, glancing at her house again.
“A crow?” she asked in a high pitched laugh. He wasn’t quite sure what was funny, but he didn’t comment.
“Yes. Big black wings, talons. Apparently,” he said, looking back to her corner.
“Sounds hideous,” she commented, and he heard her shift.
“It sounds fake,” he replied, rolling his eyes. “It’s ridiculous. I’ve served under the King for fifteen years, and he-“ John’s hands balled up into fist, and he took a breath to calm down. He looked out the door, eyes on the leaves trembling in the wind. “I apologize,” he said softly to her, looking back to her corner.
“It’s alright. You aren’t the first Knight I’ve seen angry,” she said shortly.
John’s brain was swimming. Should he ask? It would be rude- and he really didn’t want to arrest her. But Knights aren’t rude or angry for no reason.
“…what do you mean by that?” he finally asked, hand absentmindedly drifting to the hilt of his sword. He could almost feel the blanket of discomfort wrap around them.
She was silent. He heard her huff- he could just imagine her rolling her eyes. “You people tend to have quite the temper,” she remarked.
“Only if provoked,” he replied.
“Only if afraid-“
“Knights are not afraid.”
“Call it stupidity, then,” she snapped.
“Watch your mouth, Adelaide,” he boomed, stepping towards her dark corner. He heard the rustling of her shifting.
Silence.
He rolled his eyes at himself, moving his hand away from his sword. He let out a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. “…I apologize, ma’am, I didn’t intend-“
His eyes caught something in the corner of her home. A couple large, black feathers. He froze, heartbeat shooting up to his ears and brain working double time.
“…I found them outside, I thought I could use them to stuff my pillow-“
“Reveal yourself.”
A beat.
“…excuse me?” she asked in a shaking voice.
“I said: Reveal yourself,” he demanded again, hand moving back to the hilt of his sword. He glared into her corner, heart racing.
“…John, you know I am burned-“
“In a fire that never happened?” he snapped, drawing his sword with a haunting ring.
“John-“ she pleaded.
“Do not make me repeat myself.”
She fell silent again. Slowly, she pulled back the curtains.
Light flooded the room, making him blink in surprise. When he finally saw her, his jaw dropped. Piercing black eyes stared back at him, full of sorrow. Two big black wings folded behind her back, sharp talons on the ends of her black fingers, and a beak-like nose adorned her features. Her skin was smoky along the edges of her hairline and small black dots littered her skin.
John staggered backwards, faltering for a moment before putting his sword back up. Adelaide wasn’t a woman- she was a monster. His monster- the one he was sent to kill. His arm shook. He swallowed. Stepping towards her with a hateful look in his eyes.
She looked up at him with those dark eyes, exhausted and knowing. “Can I eat my pastry before you kill me?”
CLICK
The sound of a shutter going off before the sound of electricity sparking a hiss of pain reached Alastor's ears.
"OW! Fu-zzt-CK!!"
Alastor contorted his head to stare at the whining box-headed, grinning sharply as his eyes squinted in question. "Vox. What do you think you're doing, my dear friend?"
Spots of static filled his friend's screen where his cheeks would've been as he looked up at him in embarrassment, the video camera that was once in his hand clattered to the floor, forming a crack on its top.
Alastor melded into the shadows before popping out in front of Vox, smiling as he studied the scuffed camera in his hand. "You know this face was made for radio" He tuts, shaking his head. Before applying a bandage on the formed crack.
It didn't do anything to actually repair the silly thing. But Alastor found the thought humorous considering that the bandage did nothing for the wound.
Vox's shoulders slumped as the static spread in his cheeks, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. A nervous habit he formed in hell on top of easing the ache his large head makes on his neck. "I-I know... I'm sorry.... I just wanted to take a picture of you! You know, to remember the good times..." He said, his eyes refusing to meet his as Alastor considers his words.
"Now why would you want to do such a thing, pal?" He asks, giving Vox his silly camera back before he summoned his own cane, spinning it around in his hand before propping it on the floor as he leans and tilts his head. "It's not like these good times of ours would be so fleeting! There's no need to have such silly things lying about now, wouldn't it?"
He pinches Vox's cheeks at his words. Adoring the way his eyes land back on him as he smiles softly.
A small pout formed on his screen before he carefully pushes Alastor's hand aside, rolling his eyes after the camera disappeared with a sparkle of electricity. "You know that sometimes we're busy. We can't always schedule our regular hangouts together when you sometimes have another Overlord to overthrow or a deal to make while I'm making new technology to sell on top of my broadcasts"
"But we still make time"
His gaze falls down on the floor again as he firmly grips Alastor's hand, lips turning into a downward line. Mumbling something under his breath.
For once, Alastor blinked. "What was that?"
"I-... I just– .....i don't want to forget about you"
Ah.
So that's where the problem lies.
"My dear Vox, I doubt you'll ever forget about me. I'm quite remarkable after all!"
He felt Vox's hand guide his to rest on his cheek, feeling the ambient static he always felt when he touched Vox's screen.
He does nothing to stop it.
His cane disappearing as he has no reason to have it.
"You know I... forgot about a few things in my past life" Vox started off with, a buzz entering his tone as it did whenever he talked about his life when he was alive.
It was a sore topic. One Alastor deigned not to poke at.
Whilst Alastor went to Hell remembering all of his life and how he died, allowing him to quickly pull himself together to gather more power for himself, Vox had forgotten parts of his life. And in some cases, despite having died at a similar age as Alastor, acted more... child-like than what Alastor would've expected.
But from what Alastor had gathered, Vox was rather the norm instead of the exception.
Unlike him.
And really, he's not surprised when he knew why.
Alastor felt himself sighing as he looked into Vox's pleading eyes. "You're not going to drop this, are you?"
Finally, Vox cracked him a smile. "Depends... Did I convince you?"
"No. M-maybe..." Now it was Alastor's turn to look away as his voice cracked and his cheeks tinted red.
Vox laughed as he thrown his head back. Joyful giggling filling the air as Alastor stared at him in astonishment.
"Hahaha! Would you look at that! The Radio Demon himself is speechless!!" Vox snorts as he shook his head. Shoulders still shaking from his giggles as Alastor forces himself to grimace.
"I will rip you limb from limb if you don't stop now"
"I will! I will! Geez, I'm sorry you sourpuss" Vox leaned his head back, his hand combing through his antennas before they bounced off harmlessly.
A nervous habit he still retained when he was alive.
When he finally calmed down enough, he was beaming at Alastor with that bright smile of his. Eyes crinkling in delight as he held out his hand for him to take. "So... Are you up for a picture?"
Alastor scoffed, rolling his eyes away as his hand takes the offer. "I suppose so. There's no harm in it, after all"
If Alastor thought Vox couldn't become brighter, he was mistaken. As Vox looked over the moon as he held Alastor's hand. Pumping his other fist in the air in joy as he shouted. "YES!"
He smiled softly at the other's enthusiasm.
Perhaps having a picture taken wouldn't be so bad after all if he could see him like this all of the time.
Alastor set up a camera of his own. Nothing like the one Vox had attempted to use on him but rather one that was more classy and in style for the Radio Demon's taste.
"That camera looks so tacky" Vox comments, grimacing lightly before Alastor waved his hand.
"Nonesense! This camera is practically state-of-the-art! Nothing less for gentlemen such as ourselves"
Alastor hears him snort at his words. Already imagining the eyeroll he received from the other media demon. "Right... If that's what you want to believe, you old timey prick"
Content with Vox's comments. Alastor hums along to a song as he readies the camera. Waving over his shadow to take the picture as Vox stomped his feet in tune to the music he was humming.
His shadow, or Bee, chirped in delight at the thought of taking a picture of Vox. He reminded it that it was a picture for both of them. And his shadow only chittered in acknowledgement as his eyes didn't focus on his creator.
Seriously, that shadow of his can be unbearable.
Once it was all settled, Alastor takes his spot in Vox's side as he smiled for the camera. Willing his powers not to corrupt the silly old thing as Vox beamed at the camera as well.
He felt himself relax in his place as he steals a glance at Vox. Their eyes meet for a moment before Alastor looks away.
He doesn't bother to comment when he feels the other lean towards him as the camera clicks.
Vox couldn't contain his excitement as he waits for the picture to develop. "Can't it go any faster?" He huffed in annoyance as he stares at the two blank pictures in Alastor's grasp.
"Now now, my dear friend. Patience is a virtue one must know to succeed!" He tuts lightly, tapping on Vox's screen where his nose would've been as static fills it yet again.
Regardless, Vox snorts. "Because we're obviously down in Hell for being virtuous"
Alastor rolled his eyes at that. "You know what I mean! And it still applies!"
Still, Alastor speeds up the process with a flourish of his fingers. The pictures developing rapidly before his voice gets caught in his throat.
He looks.... so happy.....
His eyes were half-lidded. Relaxed as his smile seemed soft and genuine.
Besides him, Vox was leaning towards him with a bright smile on his face. His face practically beaming despite being immortalized in picture.
As if he had accomplished something truly worthwhile.
Truly important.
Alastor felt his throat go dry as he felt Vox besides him slouch as well.
"Wow"
Wow indeed.
Ever so gently, he hands Vox's his copy as his fingers curled around the picture as if he cradling it. And wasn't that such an odd thought? Yet still, the picture didn't crumpled in his hands as he looked at Alastor with such awe in his eyes.
"Thank you"
Alastor couldn't look away from those eyes even if he wanted to as he held his own picture to his chest.
"I– I—.... It was no problem, Vox"
Vox merely smiled as he looked down at his own copy.
Before he put out one of his hands, electricity covering it completely before the camera from before appeared in his hand. Still bandaged from Alastor's silly efforts.
Alastor could only blink. "What's that?"
He could only ask despite knowing what it was.
Vox snickered, before putting the camera into Alastor's hand. "For safekeeping. Thought you might like it since you went through the effort to fix it"
Alastor could only scoff. "Sap. That was nothing"
Vox stared into his eyes yet again, a soft gaze gracing his skin as his cheeks felt warm. "Still, I want you to keep it"
"Keep it. This old broken thing?"
Vox only shrugged. "It probably still works. Think of it as something to remember this day by"
Alastor could only raise his brow. "The picture wasn't enough?"
Vox just smiled. "You can never be too safe or else you'll be sorry"
Alastor just sighed, shaking his head. Still, it warms his heart that he could have another piece of him with him. "You and your silly little memorabilia"
Vox just winked at him. "You know it" He says before leaning closer to the radio demon. "Can't be too sure that you won't remember me when you go out on one of your hunts"
He shudders at the sound as his eyes go half-closed. He can't argue with that.
"I suppose I should thank you"
"Thank you, Alastor"
"I will never forget you"
Hi Dutch. Since you have answered many questions about Cloti, what is your thought about Zerith in Rebirth? I saw many people disappointed or having no hope for them but others said the devs are creating angst. Do you agree?
Hi, thanks for the question. Yeah, I understand being disappointed with the Zerith content in Rebirth. The developers spent a lot of time hyping up Zacks importance, not just with Remake but also with developer interviews and such. To have such a build-up and then have him relegated to just a few playable intermissions, to not get a Zack Aerith reunion, and depending on who you listen to to have him being brushed aside in favor of Cloud in regards to Aeriths affections, can understandably feel disheartening.
But really this is just a lack of understanding concerning story structure, to put it simply, Rebirth is EXTREMELY Zerith.
When reading Harry Potter I always knew that Snape was most likely going to end up a good guy, despite the seeming back and forths. And do you know which moment to me proved that he was a good guy? When he killed Dumbledore at the end of book 6. I knew then without a doubt that he was a good guy, because there was still one book to go, and it was obvious that that book would have the final ultimate reversal.
Rebirth didn't have a lot of Zerith pay-off, but if anything that's a good thing. If it did I would be worried about what would happen in part 3 to flip that pay-off on its head. Instead Zerith has gotten a lot of build-up that is now screaming to receive pay-off in part 3.
We have shots of Zack desperately trying to come back to Aerith. We have Aerith admitting she still has feelings for Zack. We have Aerith desperately trying to recreate her time with Zack. We have Tifa and Aerith talking about Zack. We have Aerith sensing Zacks touch in the cave of the GI. We have Aerith singing songs about meeting again. We have Aerith admitting to seeing Zack again in Cloud. We have Aerith instantly going to Zacks parents. We have Cloud talking about how Zack is head over heels for Aerith. We have Zack in Nibelheim talking to Cloud about their respective girlfriends
And the question you need to ask for all these things is "why?" Why would they include all these scenes if it's not getting a pay-off? Why show scenes of Aerith trying and failing to recreate her days with Zack interspersed with scenes of Zack trying to get back to her if that ultimately isn't of importance? Why show Zack positively contrasted with a negatively presented Cloud if the message you're trying to convey is that Zack has been replaced? Why show Zack to be an amazing guy if you want to end his arc with people being ok with him being rejected? Why make a themesong with the desire for meeting again at its core and have Zacks entire story in the game being about trying to reunite with Aerith if the point of that reunion is heartbreak?
The answer is that a writer wouldn't do those things, they make no sense. If you want your love story to feel positive then you need to disassemble the alternatives first. You need to show how the other pairings don't work, minimize their importance, or in some other way make it clear to the audience that the "main couple" coming together is the desirable outcome.
If you want to show that Aerith is getting over Zack you don't spend your limited screentime showing Aerith pining over Zack, you instead show how she's no longer occupying his mind as much. If you want to show Aerith getting over Zack you don't have her talking about still loving him, you instead have her talking about how she DID once, but that that was a long time ago. You don't end her arc with a date that remind the viewer of the existence of Zack, but one that is fully between Cloud and Aerith. If you want to show the compatibility of Cloud and Aerith then you don't make it so that everything goes wrong, you make it so that the dream date goes "DREAMY"!. And if you want to sell the idea that Aerith is over Zack and has come to the conclusion that she truly romantically loves Cloud then you DON'T place that confession right after said horrible date, with Zack scenes left right and center, a Cloud thats talking about you being "nakama", and Aerith dialogue that at best says she's not sure about what she feels, and at worst is a straight up friendzoning. If you want to replace a very positively portrayed romance then you will need the end all be all of chemistry and certainty in the new one, and talks about "well, I like you, but there is liking and then there's liking" is NOT a recipe for that.
In short, if you want to sell the idea that Cloud has truly replaced Zack in Aeriths heart and more importantly IN THE NARRATIVE, then you don't put emphasis on the existence of Aeriths feelings for Zack, and you don't put emphasis on Zacks feelings for Aerith. Those things all serve to maximize the connection between Aerith and Zack when what you need to do if you want to sell Clerith is minimize it. The reason being that this romance is in narrative conflict with the supposed Aerith Cloud romance, and the stronger the Aerith Zack connection is presented, the more extravagant the bond between Cloud and Aerith needs to be written for the story to make sense.
And that won't happen when you have Cloud deriding Aerith for the way she tries turning everything into a date the one moment, and then a scene showing Zack taking care of Aerith while in a coma the next. It doesn't happen when you show a scene of Cloud bonding with Tifa in one scene and almost kissing her, and then show Zack bonding with Aeriths mother in the next. It doesn't happen when you show Aerith failing to recreate her date with Zack and asking Cloud to find her in "her place", and then show Zack waiting for Aerith in "her place" the next.
All these things signal the same thing "Zack good for Aerith, Cloud bad".
You can extrapolate this idea beyond Rebirth of course. If Zack and Aerith isn't getting a pay-off what is the point of re-releasing Crisis Core before Rebirth? If the point is to show that Zack is no longer in the picture what is the point of showing off an entire game all about how important he and Aerith are to each other and about how desperate he is to get back to her? What is the point of showing that the bow Aerith is always wearing was gift from him. What is the point of her always wearing the clothes that she said she'd wear in anticipation of seeing him again. What is the point in bringing up the fact that she wrote Zack 89 letters and has been waiting for him for 5 years if Zack is replaceable in 2 weeks? What is the point of writing that Aeriths one wish is to spend more time with Zack if her literally spending time with a Zack stand-in isn't relevant? What is the point of writing it that Aerith didn't just see Zack in Cloud because they're similar...but because he's LITERALLY putting on a fake persona based on Zack, if Zacks presence in Clouds persona is irrelevant to Aeriths feelings regarding him?
If you want us to believe that Aerith likes Cloud for Cloud then these are all very questionable writing choices, especially when you also keep harping on about her wanting to get to know the real Cloud, which implies that she doesn't know him YET. It's not that you can't still have it so that Aerith does actually prefer Cloud despite all this, but if that's the case then you've failed as a writer because this would be VERY incoherent storytelling. If the writers want you to believe that Aerith has moved on from Zack, then they shouldn't and wouldn't have spend so much time showing Aerith not having moved on from Zack. Ultimately the question is one of focus, a story about Aerith falling in love with Cloud, and a story about moving on from Zack might look superficially similar, and entail the same basic events. But the difference is the focus. Is that focus on Cloud and what he means to Aerith? Or is the focus on Zack? In rebirth there is a heavy focus, not on the developing bond between Cloud and Aerith, those are limited almost exclusively to Tifa, but there is a heavy focus on Aeriths feelings in regards to Zack. There is no storytelling purpose to Aerith telling Cloud she still loves Zack 3/4ths of the way through her story if the focus of the story isn't Aeriths feelings for Zack, but her feelings for Cloud. If the writers wanted you to think Zack doesn't matter they wouldn't spend so much time hammering in the idea that Zack matters. These moments are all in service to Aerith and Zack, not Aerith and Cloud.
Even things like Zack discovering that Aerith has started developing feelings for Cloud only makes sense to include if the pay-off for that is them reuniting and him showing Aerith what love really is. So if we saw in Rebirth wasn't a "lack of Zerith", then what DID we see? Well, to reiterate what I said earlier:
If you want your love story to feel positive then you need to disassemble the alternatives first.
This is what we saw in Rebirth, Cloud and Aerith being disassembled, so that part 3 can get us to the pay-off. We see Cloud and Aerith bonding, yes, but it's ALWAYS contrasted with Tifa and Zack. If we have a scene where Aerith tries to engage Cloud in talks concerning food he will be shown to engage with the same discouraging passivity of the average woman on tinder, then that scene will invariably be followed by a similar scene with Tifa where he is enthusiastically trying to keep the conversation flowing. If we see a scene where Aerith is trying to get a certain energy from Cloud and failing, it won't be long till we see a scene of Zack having that same desired energy naturally.
In short, Rebirth was filled with scenes that "serve a purpose in the overall narrative". But the only way those scenes WOULD serve a purpose in the overall narrative, is if the overall narrative is: "Aerith is trying to get over Zack and is trying to move on through Cloud. But by doing so she discovers that it's just not the same. While Cloud helps Aerith move on and accept the past, he can never replace Zack". If the overall narrative is: "Aerith used to be pining over Zack, but now she has truly replaced Zack in her heart with Cloud and Zack is a relic of the past" then none of these scenes would make sense to include. You can also look at it like this, why didn't Rebirth have a Zerith Reunion scene? Because apparently that's too important of a scene to quickly tack on to the end of part 2. Nomura has already hinted at something very important to include in part 3 that wasn't in part 2, something that he thinks will make people very happy if done right. And I am pretty freaking confident that what he's talking about is the long-awaited Aerith - Zack reunion. And that is why this game is extremely favorable to Zerith, so be excited for part 3.
Fallout TV show thoughts
Spoilers ahead because I'm like, talking about the show and what happens in it.
The first two episodes are the strongest definitely. The vault dwellers being culty trad weirdos and the brotherhood being technofascists is a great return to form. But after that, the aspects of both of those tend to get subsumed into "Lucy and Max are naive"
Lucy and Max kinda stop having ideologies pretty quick. It's easier to accept with Max because he's shown from the beginning to be less interested into the technocult aspects of the Brotherhood but Lucy has fully drunk the vault kool-aid and that kinda becomes secondary to "she's from a vault so she's used to good people"
The central tension of "if it's life or death, you'll abandon your morals" vs "but we have to keep being better anyway" is a really popular one for post-apocalypse stories to tell, but it's kind of a boring Fallout story for me.
The early Brotherhood stuff really hits the sweet spot between the creepy ritualistic aspects and the fact that a lot of them are just shitty bullies. Titus going from the helmet voice to his normal voice was a really good scene.
Tangentially, I don't particularly care for Ghoulgins. I thought the pre-war plot with Walton Goggins was great, but with Ghoulgins it felt like every scene he was in he walks up to someone, snarls a bit, kills everyone present, and walks away with no variation.
The best part of episode 3 onwards was all of the stuff with young Steve Buscemi solving mysteries
I laughed at the fact that they did Kid in a Fridge 2, but after the fifth time or so that they played that clip it was increasingly obvious that it was the only backstory that Maximus had. We know exactly five-ish seconds of his life outside the story. And sure, part of that was that he's like, raised in a high-control cult, but so is Lucy and we learn a half-dozen hobbies that she has in the first minute.
Also is it just me or did they put one black guy in every scene where Max was getting his ass beat? So like, invoking a certain imagery for sure but not textually saying anything about racism, which seems like the worst of both worlds
There's a running textual and subtextual dichotomy between "innocence/naivete/ignorance" and "willingness to do violence" but it's undercut a little by how often characters screw up by doing violence because they were ignorant or naive
Lee Moldaver call me
(side note, I'm not a "wouldve been way better if at the end the Black Panther turned to the camera & said "i am communist now" & then specified hes the exact kind of communist i am" person, but honestly Fallout is allergic to ever depicting American communists. McCarthyism can only be bad if it's aimed at the wrong target.)
I just realized Sarita Choudhury was in Gawain and the Green Knight and she was really hot there too
I *really* liked the plot device of "Vault-Tec has a fiduciary responsibility to the end of the world" but I thought every company we know the name of sitting around a table and going "we're going to do the end of the world" was corny. I'm surprised Slocum Joe wasn't there to pitch an iced regulah and strawberry frahsted vault.
Slight tweak that could be more compelling--vault tec wants things to be bad/drive up paranoia to sell reservations, but they don't actually want the world to end. It's like an insurance company that wants you to be scared of disasters, but doesn't actually want to pay out. That's the exact type of corporate hubris I could see them trying to thread. And it still works with stuff like suppressing Moldaver's cold fusion.
Wait why was the cold fusion in that guy's head? They injected a similar thing into the dog, so I assumed at first he could like, psychically communicate with the dog and that's why the dog could track his head. But the dog was injected before the guy so like, did the dog just have general cold-fusion tracking software injected? Like I know it was an excuse to have Dogmeat IV, but I genuinely want to know if anyone knows the deal with that.
A good amount of stuff that turns me off of the show is that I genuinely find the post-post-apocalypse of some Fallout games more interesting than just post-apoc.
This show seemed less built up than even Fallout 4. All the locations seemed kinda disconnected from any sense of space. I cackled when the snake oil guy showed up to treat the guy's foot. He's not anywhere near the other two places we've seen him. Is this even his building?
"The Governmint" being two guys and their boss who looks like every wasteland mayor ever was really good. Good enough to wipe out Shady Sands? Jury's still out.
I'm not particularly mad about "they destroyed the NCR!" but I wish they did something interesting. I do like how Moldaver flies NCR flags. That was probably the most interesting element of it
The Doll House - A Choso x Reader Fanfic Part 4 (Final)
When your younger sister is tricked into selling herself to the Doll House, you rush there to help her, only to find her being led away by her trainer, Choso. Moved by your desire to save your sister, he convinces the owner to let you take her place.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Read Geto’s Part Here!
Read Toji’s Part Here!
Read Nanami’s Part Here!
Read Sukuna’s Part Here!
Read Gojo’s Part Here!
Note: Please remember that these stories don’t take place at the same time, or even one after the other! Consider each one its own timeline. So if you see Geto and Toji with other dolls, don’t be alarmed lol. I had to do it this way because if I don’t, by the time I get to the last trainer, there won’t be any other trainers left to interact with!
Tumblr media
AU! Each trainer will get their own story! This is Choso’s. I’m keeping the tag list from previous parts. If you’d like to be tagged in future parts, let me know! You must be an adult to be tagged! Any feedback whatsoever is adored!
Smut. 18+. Fem Reader. FemDom. Sub Choso. Oral sex. Rough sex. Ice play. Threats of rape/violence (by the villain). Divider by @benkeibear!
Tumblr media
You throw on your shoes and rush to the door of Choso’s room, throwing it open and getting halfway down the hall before you realize Choso is right behind you.
“You’re coming with me?”
He nods. “It’s after dark. You can’t leave by yourself.”
You pause in the hallway, remembering the house rule. You don’t want to drag Choso into this mess. Yosaku is violent and rash, he could very well hurt someone sweet like your trainer. But you can’t just abandon your sister! Choso apparently notices the conflict in your eyes.
“I would go with you even if it wasn’t dark,” he says, then steps by you and knocks on Toji’s door.
Within minutes, Toji is standing in his doorway, lazily scratching his bare stomach. “Yeah? What do you need?”
“Can we borrow your car?” Choso asks him.
Toji’s eyes seem to sharpen, perhaps after seeing your worried expression and Choso’s intense look. “Sure,” he says, digging into the pockets of his pants to retrieve the keys. “Something wrong?”
Choso takes the keys from him. “Just someone bothering her sister,” he says.
Toji glances at you, then back to Choso. There’s an odd gleam in his eyes, like a cat that’s cornered a mouse. “Want me to go with you?” The hint of excitement in his voice confuses you.
Choso shakes his head. “There’s no need. Thank you for offering though. I’ll have the car back soon.”
You don’t miss the disappointment on Toji’s face as he waves the two of you off and closes his door.
As you climb into the passenger seat of Toji’s rather plain four door car, you ask the question that’s burning a hole in your brain.
“Why didn’t you let Toji come with us? Safety in numbers, right?”
Choso’s eyes are focused in front of him as he pulls out onto the road. You didn’t even know he could drive, but he seems very comfortable behind the wheel. “We don’t need Toji,” he says, “and I would feel bad if he got arrested and it complicated things with Megumi.”
“Oh, right,” you say, feeling terrible. “That was really selfish of me to want to involve him.”
Choso’s eyes slide over to you for an instant before returning to the road. He’s accompanied you to your house twice before to get things you need, so he knows the way without being told.
“You’re worried about your sister. Of course you want to do everything possible to help her. It’s natural,” he says in a comforting voice. He’s quiet for a moment, then asks, “You said Yosaku is yakuza?”
You nod. “His father runs a small time syndicate. But he’s a big guy, and he’s volatile. He has three friends with him, from what my sister can hear through the door, and he might even have weapons.”
You’ve been trying to keep up with the string of panicked messages from your sister, assuring her that you’re on your way.
“Has she called the police?” Choso asks.
“She did, but his father has connections in the police department. She doesn’t think they’ll come. Apparently he’s shown up at the house a couple of times before, but this is the first time he broke in. She didn’t want to tell me because she knew it would freak me out. And… he’s been threatening to go and make trouble for me at the Doll House.”
You said that last part carefully. You didn’t want to worry Choso or upset him but you feel like he has a right to know yakuza thugs are threatening his place of employment.
To your surprise, a soft chuckle escapes Choso’s mouth. You can’t imagine what could be amusing about this. He glances at you and his face straightens. “I’m sorry, that was insensitive of me. It’s just that imagining someone making trouble at the Doll House is very funny.”
“How?” you ask, genuinely confused.
“The trainers at the Doll House, and even the owner herself, they’re all people you don’t want to mess with. Ever. So if someone came to make trouble, they would get far more than they bargained for.”
“Really?” you ask, picturing the other trainers in your mind. You can see Toji or Sukuna being intimidating, even being violent. But the others? Goofball Gojo? Pretty boy Geto? Kindly Nanami? You can’t imagine them fighting. But Choso seems confident that they could handle any problems that arise.
Wait, does that also apply to him? Is Choso someone you “don’t want to mess with”? Surely not. He’s sweet and submissive. You just hope he doesn’t get hurt by trying to help you.
Choso pulls into your driveway and the two of you jump out of the car. The front door is standing open, hanging off its hinges. Someone clearly busted it down. The violence and strength that required sends a shiver down your spine.
As you and Choso step inside, you see that the living room is a huge mess. Cushions have been pulled out of the sofa and cut open, the tv is smashed, and two lamps have been broken. You barely have time to take note of the damage before you hear voices coming from upstairs.
You can hear several men talking and laughing loudly, and you pick out Yosaku’s voice among them.
“Come on out here and play with us, babe! You don’t wanna be my woman anymore, so you might as well entertain all of us!”
You start up the stairs, but Choso stops you with a hand on your shoulder. So calmly that it’s almost eerie, he steps in front of you and makes his way up.
There’s a loud banging sound, probably Yosaku banging on the bathroom door, and you hear your sister scream out, “Go away! I called the cops so you better get out of here!”
Yosaku laughs. “Oh, you mean my dad’s buddies? They ain’t coming, sweetheart. Now, if you make me break this door down to get you out of there, I’m gonna-“
Yosaku’s voice cuts off when Choso reaches the top of the stairs, you close behind him. The scene before you is terrifying. Four big, dangerous-looking men are standing in the hall, gathered around the bathroom door. Yosaku is holding a metal baseball bat, and one of the other men is holding a crowbar. Just what do these creeps plan to do to your little sister?!
“Who the fuck are you?” Yosaku asks, looking directly at Choso.
“I’m a trainer at the Doll House,” Choso says simply and honestly.
A couple of the men chuckle, but Yosaku’s eyes shift to you. “Oh, it’s you! The bitchy big sister who made my girl dump me!”
Suddenly your sister’s voice carries through the door. “Sis?! Are you there?!”
“I’m here! Don’t open the door, no matter what! Just stay in the bathroom!”
Your sister doesn’t reply, but Yosaku narrows his eyes. “See, that’s the problem between us,” he says, taking a step toward you and Choso. “You always have to stick your dumb bitch nose into our shit. How bout I break your little boyfriend’s legs and make him watch me and my buddies fuck you bloody? Then we’ll drag your precious little sister out and do the same to her.”
You feel like ice water has been poured down your back, and you start to wish you had involved Toji after all. These men are dangerous! And now Choso is going to be hurt!
One of the other men pulls a knife from his pocket and starts toward you, but Yosaku holds his hand up in a motion that says “I’ve got this” as he walks the few steps needed to reach you. You can’t see Choso’s face, being behind him, but you can only imagine how horrified he must be.
When Yosaku reaches the two of you, he reaches his free hand out toward Choso, perhaps to grab his collar, but something… happens. You didn’t see it clearly, just a blur of motion, but suddenly Yosaku is on the floor, screaming, and his arm is caught in Choso’s grip, twisted at an unnatural angle.
Before you can even process what you’re seeing, Choso makes some kind of movement, and you hear the most grotesque snapping sound you’ve ever heard. Somehow you know for certain that Choso has just broken Yosaku’s arm.
Yosaku screeches like a wounded animal, thrashing on the floor, the metal bat sliding out of his grip and forgotten on the floor.
The other three men stare at Yosaku, then at Choso, completely stunned. Then all at once they charge at him, brandishing knives and a crowbar, swinging at him and screaming obscenities.
Choso maneuvers further into the hall, away from you, and you watch as he calmly dodges their attacks, then counters with devastating hits that seem to strike their weak points like magic. All three of them crumble to the floor. It took less than two minutes, and Choso isn’t even winded.
He turns to you, and for a tiny moment, his face is intense, his eyes glinting with rage, but his expression quickly softens. “Are you alright?” he asks.
You nod blankly, wondering if this is all some bizarre dream. Then you remember your sister is still trapped in the bathroom, so you rush over to the door and yell, “It’s okay now! Choso took care of them! It’s safe to come out!”
The door clicks unlocked, and then slowly slides open as your sister peeks out. When she sees you standing there, she runs out of the bathroom and into your open arms. “I was so scared!” she cries, clutching you.
You stroke her hair as you hold her. “I know. But you did good! You were smart to hide and call me. It’s over now. Yosaku won’t bother you again.”
“The hell I won’t!” a strained voice calls out. Yosaku is still on the floor, cradling his broken arm, his face pale and sweaty. “Once I tell my dad about this, you guys are fucked!”
Choso walks over and squats down beside Yosaku, who flinches and tries to move away, maybe sensing danger the way prey can sense a predator.
“You and your father might want to rethink that,” Choso tells him. “These two sisters are under the protection of the Doll House.”
Yosaku looks at Choso incredulously. “So what?! It’s just a brothel! It’s just-“
“Ryomen Sukuna works there,” Choso says.
What little color remained in Yosaku’s face instantly drains away. His eyes grow large, as if he’s just seen something nightmarish. “Ryomen… Sukuna?”
“He’s a colleague of mine,” Choso says. “Oh, and Fushiguro Toji as well.”
“Fushi…guro? Th-the Fighting Demon?!”
“Yes,” Choso replies, “and they’re very, very protective of the Doll House. They would both be extremely upset if anyone made trouble for us.”
Yosaku looks like a deflated balloon, all the anger and attitude replaced by fear. “I-I’m sorry!” he suddenly shouts, trying and failing to roll over and assume the bowing position. “I didn’t realize Sukuna and Fushiguro were involved with the Doll House! Please don’t tell them about this!”
Choso looks down at him coldly, an expression you’ve never seen on his face before. You can’t help thinking it’s kind of sexy. “I won’t mention this to them,” he says, “under the condition that you never bother these sisters ever again. Never speak to them. Never show your face before them. Pretend they don’t exist.”
Yosaku nods emphatically. “I’ll stay away from them, I swear!”
“Good,” Choso says, standing back up. “Now gather your trash and leave.”
Yosaku scrambles to his feet, wincing and holding his arm, then hurries over to his friends and begins frantically kicking at them, screaming for them to get up. Eventually, they all drag themselves out of the house with their heads hung low.
****************
Choso turns to the two sisters once the men are gone. His doll looks so lovely, holding her crying sister, being the kind and nurturing woman he knew her to be. He smiles at them, happy he could be of help.
His doll looks up at him and smiles back. “I don’t know how I can ever thank you enough.”
“It was no trouble,” he says, feeling a little bashful.
They decide to spend the night at the house, since her sister is still understandably shaken up, so Choso calls Toji to let him know.
“It’s fine,” the other trainer tells him over the phone. “I’m not going anywhere tonight anyway.”
Choso thanks him again and hangs up, returning to the living room where his doll is cramming the ripped cushions back onto the couch. She stops and looks around the room. “What a mess. Maybe I should just set her up in an apartment for the time being. She really doesn’t need the whole house to herself.”
“I can help you clean up,” Choso says, bending down to pick up some fallen objects from the floor.
His doll flops down on the sofa. “Let’s just wait until morning. She should be calmed down enough to help by then.”
Choso sits down beside her. “Are you okay? I know this was all very stressful.”
She turns toward him. “I’m fine. I’m just glad it’s over. I had no idea you could fight though. You were amazing!”
He blushes. “I do a little martial arts. I’m not nearly as good at it as some of the others.”
She leans closer to him. “To be honest, I thought it was extremely hot.”
“You did?” he asks, leaning forward to meet her.
“Mmhm,” she murmurs as she kisses him, slowly and passionately, licking his lips.
He’s struck by the urge to press her back onto the couch and fuck her wildly, but he would never do something like that without being told to, and not while her younger sister is right upstairs.
Choso is honest to a fault, even with himself, so he’s aware that he’s falling in love with her. Tonight only cemented his feelings. He’d never experienced such anger before, such cold fury, as when Yosaku threatened her. It made him realize that the thought of any man putting his hands on her, for any reason, made Choso’s chest tighten.
Two different buyers have already expressed interest, and Choso really should have allowed meetings to be set up by now. There’s only a week and a half left of the training. How is he going to feel when she leaves?
He’s already thought about keeping her, but he’s not sure how she feels. Maybe… maybe he should just ask her.
She pulls away from the kiss and settles against him on the sofa, seeming to relax. He looks down at her face and asks, “How would you feel about staying with me?”
His doll looks up at him with wide eyes, then she slowly sits back up. “What do you mean?”
Oh, that’s right, she probably doesn’t know about that particular rule. “Trainers are allowed to keep one doll they’ve trained. Your contract would transfer to me.”
A mix of emotions flood her face. Surprise, joy, and something more heated. “So… you would choose me?”
Choso nods, feeling a blush creep across his cheeks. “But only if that’s something you want.”
She opens her mouth to answer, but then suddenly pauses. “Wait, would you keep training other women? Because I don’t think I could stand knowing you were being intimate with someone else.”
Choso smiles, happy that they both feel the same way. “I would quit working as a trainer,” he assures her.
She wraps her arms around him, pulling him close. “Then my answer is yes! I’ve been dreading the day I’d have to leave. I want to stay with you!”
Two days later, after Choso has informed the owner of his choice and the paperwork has been completed, he and his his doll simply have to wait for the training period to be over before her contract is signed over to him. Choso hasn’t told her yet, but he intends to release her from the contract. If she decides to leave him, so be it. He wants her to return to her job, which was important to her, and to spend time with her sister. Hopefully, they can all spend time with Yuji as well.
Presently, Choso is tied to the bed, naked but for a red collar around his neck. His doll is straddling him, holding a thin chain connected to his collar. She’s wearing a bright red corset trimmed in black lace, the tiniest pair of red panties he’s ever seen, and shiny vinyl boots that come up to her thighs. She’s an absolute vision as she leans over and retrieves an ornate silver bowl from the nightstand. Inside it is a pile of ice cubes.
She takes one cube from the bowl and rubs it over Choso’s lips before kissing him, then she slides it down his neck and over his chest, holding it a few moments against one hard nipple before moving down. Choso shudders beneath her, the cold contrasting with the heat of the room and her warm body on top of him.
She scoots down so that she’s sitting between his spread open thighs, and she smiles as she begins stroking his fully erect cock with the ice cube in her hand. Choso’s hips buck at the freezing sensation sliding up and down his shaft, and he whimpers out, “Ahh, so cold, Mistress!”
She giggles at his reaction, then locks eyes with him as she pushes the ice cube into her mouth. She swirls it around her tongue for a moment before bending forward and wrapping her lips around his cock, taking his considerable length into her mouth and pressing the ice between her velvety tongue and his tip.
Choso cries out, jerking against his bonds. He can feel the slippery ice gliding over his cock as she licks him, one of her hands warm as it squeezes his balls. Just as the ice melts into cool water, he loses his composure, twitching as he begs her to let him cum.
She pulls away and looks down at him, her lips shiny with various fluids, and says, “Go ahead and fill my mouth.”
Then she clamps her lips around him again as he finally climaxes, shooting his thick cum directly onto her icy tongue. When finished, she moves up his body, the silky texture of the corset rubbing over his taut skin, and unties his wrists, freeing him. She uses the chain to pull him up by his collar, so that he’s sitting upright in bed.
“Choso,” she says, breathing out his name as if it’s the most precious word she knows, “I want you to fuck me rough and hard.”
He draws back and looks at her face. In truth, it’s something he’s fantasized about from time to time, but he only really wants to do the things she tells him to, so he’s never mentioned it. “Are you sure?” he asks.
She jerks on the chain, pulling his face close to hers. Her skin is flushed, her eyes lusty. “Make me scream.”
***************
You’ve been thinking nonstop about how hot Choso was when he took charge at your house and beat up the men threatening you and your sister. And while you absolutely adore the sweet, compliant Choso who whimpers and quivers under your touch, you’re kind of curious about what he would be like if he were rough with you for once.
So you gave him a command, and he’s obeying.
Within seconds he has you on your back, your flimsy panties ripped away and your corset torn open, allowing your breasts to spill out. He only takes a moment to dip his fingers into your folds, confirming that you’re drenched, before he bends your legs up and spreads them far apart, plunging his entire length into you.
You gasp, your hand clutching the chain, jerking it reflexively, causing his mouth to crash into yours. And then he’s thrusting, deeply, roughly, slamming into your cervix and making you see stars. Fuck, it’s amazing! His hard body feels so good against yours, one hand squeezing your breast, his tongue in your mouth.
Has he been holding back this whole time? Waiting for you to tell him to go wild? You should have done this sooner.
He breaks the kiss, groaning when your pussy clenches around him, then leans forward to lick up the tears you didn’t realize were rolling down your face.
You scream out as he thrusts particularly deep into you, “Ahhh! Choso! Choso!”
With one final cry of his name, you reach release, cumming on his cock, shaking with pleasure as he continues fucking you until his own climax comes. You jerk the chain once more, pulling him into the deepest kiss you’ve ever shared.
You sigh in contentment later, as you snuggle in close to him beneath the covers. You never imagined in your wildest dreams that you’d become a doll, much less be happy as one. But as long as you’re with Choso, no matter what the future holds, you know the two of you will be alright.
Prompt 18 Neighbour AU
@wolfstarmicrofic April 18, word count 991
Remus Lupin had one asset, and that was his parent’s house. It was in the middle of the Welsh countryside. It was a mile walk to the little village, and the only thing it had going for it was the barn. It was light and airy and smelled of wood.
Remus had spent a lot of time and effort converting it into a liveable space. The idea had been to sell it, but no one was interested in living so far away from the major cities. So, under the advice of his estate agent, he rented it out for short holidays.
So far, it had been quite lucrative. With the money he made from that and his own job, he could afford chocolate whenever he wanted.
The holiday season was coming, and he already had two weeks booked out. He tended to get a lot of city dwellers looking to get away from it all or families trying to get back to their roots.
He checked his emails one morning with a fresh cup of tea and a plate of crumpets. HE filtered out the junk and found an inquiry email in his barn folder. He opened it.
A man was looking to hire the barn for the full summer and all of September as well. He was looking at three months of solid booking. It was a shame he couldn’t offer it, having already booked those two weeks. And he refused to let down his other guests. He typed a reply stating as much. He got a reply back almost instantly, asking if there was somewhere he could pitch a small tent. Mr Black said he would gladly still pay full price while his other guests used the barn. Remus couldn’t believe what he was reading. It seemed too good to be true. He sent a couple of pictures of his personal garden. The views weren’t as good, but it would be sheltered from the worst of the wind, and he could use Remus’s garden furniture. Again, the reply was quick. The man agreed and said he hoped he wouldn’t be any bother.
Remus sent an invoice and got Mr Black to confirm he agreed to the price, and with the confirmation, he booked out the three months. He sat back with a pleased look on his face as he finished his crumpets. He just hoped that Mr Black would be a good neighbour as it was a long time to deal with a terrible guest.
July arrived, and with it, a sleek black motorbike and an equally sleek owner. Sirius, as he demanded to be called, settled in instantly. He played his music a little loudly, but as it was to Remus’s taste, he decided to enjoy it.
Remus found he quite enjoyed Sirius’s company, and they spent nearly every night in Remus’s garden drinking beers. Remus had even started making enough dinner for Sirius, though Sirius had told him he didn’t expect it but did appreciate it as he was useless at cooking.
It turned out that Sirius needed a break from his high-pressure job, which was why he’d come to Remus’s.
“I hate it. It’s been my life since my mother found out she was pregnant with me. They own the company now, but my brother and I run it. He’s so much better at it than I am, and I swear he’d have such an easier time at it if I quit.” Sirius had admitted to him one August afternoon.
“Then why don’t you quit?” Remus asked as though it were an obvious solution.
“Everything I own is tied up in the company. If I leave, I lose everything.” He shrugged. “My parents made sure it was that way after I went through a rebellious streak in my teenage years.”
“That’s terrible, Sirius. I wish I could help.” And Remus found he meant it.
“Don’t fret about it. I’ll muddle through.” Sirius beamed at him as he patted Remus’s leg. “Right, enough feeling sorry for myself. I’m off for a walk. Care to join me?” Remus couldn’t think of any reason not to, so he took the proffered hand, and they strolled towards the village.
Remus showed Sirius some of his favourite childhood haunts just off the beaten track, and they spent a wonderful afternoon in the thick foliage.
Soon, the first week came around when Sirius would have to sleep in his tent. And, of course, the worst storm to hit Wales in over a hundred years decided to arrive that night.
The trees were whipping back and forth, creaking and groaning. The fence surrounding Remus’s garden swayed dangerously. Remus refused to let Sirius stay out in this. He flung open the back door and yelled into the downpour.
“Sirius! Sirius!” A face popped out of the zippered entrance of the tent. “Get in here!” Sirius shook his head.
“I’m all good. Don’t fret.”
Lightning cut across the sky, lighting the dark ground with its answering thunder not far behind.
“Sirius, please! I won’t be able to sleep knowing you’re out here!”
Suddenly, Sirius was streaking across the lawn and ran straight into Remus’s arms, knocking the lanky man back a few steps. Lighting flashed across the sky again and then another and another. The last bolt hit the cherry blossom tree in Remus’s garden, and a huge branch fell off and crushed the tent Sirius had been in moments before.
“Yeah, probably a good call that Remus,” He joked. “Shall I put the kettle on?” Remus decided, not that he had much choice, that Sirius would be staying in his spare bedroom for the remainder of the two weeks. Maybe longer if the look Sirius was giving him meant what Remus thought it did. That night, they sat, snuggled up together on Remus’s tiny sofa in front of a roaring fire, sipping mugs of hot chocolate and listening to the storm wailing around them.
I think you asked about how Magui was problematic. And I just want to give out the actual info rather than just calling her “problematic “ without knowing why.
“Magui corceiro liking islamophobic tweets: This is her old twitter account link, many Muslims didn’t find this tweet funny but clearly she did
https://twitter.com/offensivemem3s_/status/1002947336102907904?s=46&t=FMeWICm64fTjCLqLjWhZHg
Magui’s father is an abuser, who she still openly supports. He is a urologist so he knows exactly where a kidney is and he kicked an old lady in the kidney because she complained about the houses noise. He also punched a family member who took the story to the press. She recently posted a picture with her dad on her story with the caption ‘Happy birthday to the very best’ (@ magui.felix.heartt insta) Links to the articles below, or google her dad.
She said the N word in one of her Instagram reels, she was saying it in a song. April 29th 2021. Picture is her in a bath towel.
Blackfishing, more pictures on the account @ magui,felix.heartt.
Look at the twitter account maguitavares10 where she exposes the over editing Magui does on her photos, magui even blocked this twitter account.”
I got this from https://wtflife01.tumblr.com/post/723110598080167936/magui-corceiro-liking-islamophobic-tweets-this-is/amp
Also, “Apparently Magui Corceiro is in Monaco and probably meeting Lando Norris. Can we remember this girl is a cheater, racist, liked islamophobic tweets, supports a woman abuser (her own father), took non consensual nude photos of her ex and posted them on her Instagram story, blackfishes, edits her photos to the extreme then claims to be a complete ‘feminist’, denies the fact she got fame from her boyfriend and believe she is a talented actress(she is not), lied to her followers on Instagram to sell products (said she didn’t die her hair blonde), only became close friends with Kika after she got with Pierre, followed Lando’s family whilst in a relationship with Joao, proving the point she only got with Lando for money and her next victim, strategically posts to gain attention from the media and ‘fans’, followed a lot of men whilst in a relationship, openly liked tweets about not wanting love and just wanting money. ”
Obviously, the first source is more reliable as it actually has links and more sources, but do with this what you will.
Thank you. I didn’t know any of this and the other message did come across as slightly misleading and somewhat rude but thank you for explaining. In my other post I wasn’t saying she wasn’t a bad person, I was stating how calling someone ugly when they’re not because you don’t like them isn’t the right thing to do, but damn, someone get this girl away from Lando, she sounds horrible.
Ep. 13 "Into the Breach" Review
This was another fantastic episode that packs so much into its 25 minute runtime. Seriously, the finale better be like an hour. I feel like there's so much we have to address, yet so little time. My faith in you doesn't waver Jennifer; you've guided us through thick and thin. I will say that Rampart is surprisingly a really fun character to revisit and I enjoy watching him interact with the Batch. This man doesn't learn, but he's funny now so I give him kudos for entertainment purposes. I loved the dark atmosphere as the finale draws nearer and near. This is the end of the Bad Batch. We know it and they know it.
As usual, spoilers below:
MAMA ECHO RETURNS!!! After so long, he graces us with his appearance and he serves. I loved everything from his action sequences to his sass. Watching him sneak around the Imperial ship, rolling off of crates and working his magic was awesome to watch. That's why he's the Arc Trooper. And boy was he funny too. If it were possible, Rampart would've definitely be set on fire. Between being told he was being demoted to being denied the title of "sir," Rampart was demolished by Echo. It's just so good to see Echo again. I love him so much for his kind heart, quips, and awesome action sequences. The writers delivered!
Rampart, Rampart, Rampart... what will we do with you? He certainly hasn't changed and probably never will. But honestly, I kinda hope he doesn't. Sometimes, people are just aholes who do the right things for the wrong reasons. Rampart provides an interesting moral perspective. And he's still hot. Seeing him cleaned up in the uniform didn't help either. I'm a simple woman guys. He's also hilarious and I love it. Rampart's ego is so big that he unintentionally comes across as whiny and comical. Going forward, I seriously wonder what they'll do with him because he's going to Tantiss. Will he get dropped off? Sell the Batch out? Die in the battle that is to come? Next week will tell. I'm glad he was brought back though. He did his job as a villain well. Now, we get to see him in different situations and it's fun.
Omega, my sweet bean, hang in there. This episode does so well in establishing just how much she's grown over the past few seasons. Omega's always been resourceful and clever. Seeing her scheme to escape the Vault was exciting. You can also see the influence her brothers, particularly Hunter, have had on her. Omega's become more confident and mature. She's a leader in every sense of the word. The other kids look to her for guidance as she plans an escape. I also want to give the other kids a huge hug; I can't imagine what it must be like for them. It's one of the darkest things we've ever seen in Star Wars. Also, Emerie and Scalder rivalry definitely is gonna end with Emerie's true motivations being discovered. Scalder's not gonna let her allow Omega to slip away.
And seeing the boys strip their armor of all their color... that was legitimately heartbreaking to watch. I see it as a symbol of finality. There is no going back once they get to Tantiss. Hunter's "negative" just cements that. The last 5 minutes of the episode were so tense as the boys hitched a ride. As a my discord friend put it, "all roads lead to Tantiss."
There were a lot of smaller moments I enjoyed too. Wrecker was pretty funny this episode. Crosshair and Hunter voicing their trust in Echo was sweet. It furthers just how much the Batch truly trust and know each other. It's that implicit trust that makes me love their dynamic so much.
Anyways, that's all for now. We're truly in the endgame guys. After so long, we've finally made it to Tantiss. All that's left is to get Omega, the children, and escape which is so much easier said than done. I'm so scared yet excited for what's to come. See y'all next week!
i will never not see tyler and the narrator as the most religious-coded relationship ever.
the narrator's total devotion to this "single-serve friend" he met on a plane is so similar to media portraying religious ideas of a God to his followers.
Tyler is always above everyone without question. Everything Tyler does is, to our narrator, facts. It's always "do you know Tyler Durden?" and rumors being started about him that may or may not be true (the audience knows its not), and the narrator is always chasing Tyler's approval. While this obviously ties with the narrator's self image and how it reflects on his view of Tyler, i don't think it wise to fully reject the inherent homoeroticism of the narrator's total adoration of Tyler.
The only time this is stopped is when narrator is left to his own device around Project Mayhem, where he idolizes Tyler less, but goes back to it almost immediately when going to look for him.But there is also something to be said about the Space Monkeys, or the Fight Club "devotees" living at Paper Street, working for Tyler. They leave everything behind, even staying on a porch for three days without eating and drinking, just to be able to experience Tyler's wisdom. They devote their entire life to one man, similarly to how priests and other religious bodies will devote their lives to Christ or other Gods.
As an audience, we also never learn about Tyler's past beyond what small snipets of conversation we get from him and the narrator. We don't know what he was on that plane for, where he came from, why he know lives specifically at Paper Street, only that he is now interlocked in the narrator's life until the final moments of the movie. Looking at this literally, it's obvious that's because Tyler is a product of the narrator's insomnia and hallucinations, but from a metaphorical standpoint, it stands as a similarity to how Gods simply *exist*, and then create the world.
Tyler existed, and then he created Fight Club.
But going back to Tyler and the narrator's relationship specifically, there are multiple references to the narrator almost wanting to 'repent' to Tyler, asking him to help him "not be perfect" among other things. In the narrator's eyes, Tyler is his savior, his way out of the consumerist lifestyle that has gnawed its way into every corner of his existence, like the Devil selling the apple to Eve. Without Tyler, there would be no salvation for our narrator.
A more explicit reference to religion is of course Tyler's refusal of God. "We are God's unwanted children? So be it." With this line, he takes on the part of God, he becomes the very concept of God. He has freed the narrator, making him hit rock bottom so that he may finally know salvation: "it's only after we've lost everything, that we're free to do anything." In that scene, and throughout the movie, Tyler gives facts, or in a religious metaphor way, verses, of "useful information". Though in that chemical burn kiss scene he rejects God, he ended up becoming exactly that; similar to his father, he became a "model for God" to the narrator and the Space Monkeys.
anyway tyler is god and narrator is his good little follower <3 soapshipping canon
Insurgency: The Uprising
Summary: A totalitarian regime reigns over a South American country in which the virus is being distributed to its citizens at the pretense of a “cure.” Leon was sent to retrieve a sample of the virus mutation when he stumbled upon a group of anti-government activists whose main goal is to overthrow their government. Will Leon help the cause or will he fall down with the government as well?
Warning: Mentions of mature themes. Read at your own discretion. Slow burn. Age gap (Leon is 38 and reader is 21+). Reader is female.
“The relief of giving in to destruction.” - Franz Kafka, Diaries.
“This is an urgent message from the president. This is an urgent message from the president. This is an ur-“
“Hello citizens of Pruye,” the TV warning got interrupted by the screening of a middle aged woman sitting down on a desk. Her suit was black as a flag stood behind her. The colors blue and green with a crest on the far left corner- a serpent. The woman had a brown bob with a few grey hairs. Her eyes were deep brown as her lips remained a bright pink. Her rosy cheeks puffed out the look of exhaustion as she embodied the feeling of a confident and strong leader,
“Today is an important day that all must remember. Tonight, we will launch the cure of all illnesses. The immunity to life. We shall bring peace and harmony all throughout the globe. A change never seen in history… until now.”
“Membario will become the new pharmaceutical phenomena. Our people worked hard for this cure and we shall be the first ones to prove to the world that we, too, can make history. Tonight, you all will be receiving a sample of this cure. Tonight, we will boast in the celebrations of what it feels to be victors! We are proud Pruyanians!”
The TV got turned off by someone, your coworker, “What a bunch of mierda,” Your coworker was an old man, a veteran who served in the war and now worked at where you worked. A canteen right in the middle of downtown Pruye. The streets were made of cement but had plot holes from previous battles.
The Pruyanian government, right before the current president won the election, was peaceful and harmonious in which it allowed citizens to have a voice. After President Mendez took charge, she changed everything.
Streets were patrolled by the Pruyanian soldiers who proved their loyalty to the country. Laws were changed and made to accommodate the president’s demands.
“I just don’t understand why it’s such a big deal, it’s just a drug like opium or morphine,” he continued with a grumpy voice.
“C’mon, Franco. Don’t be a buzzkill. Imagine how rich we can be if we were to sell it to other countries?” Another coworker said, a young woman in her early twenties with dyed hair. Red fiery hair covering what was a previous black raven shade.
Franco snorted as he stared at the TV and then back at the young woman, “Don’t tell me you actually believe her words? She’s manipulating us!”
You sighed and went to clean up a few tables, “You two fight like politicians.”
“Look- I’m just saying is that there are better ways to make a living. I don’t want to work here for the rest of my life,” the young woman replied as she too helped you clean around the canteen.
“Too bad, Esme,” Franco replied as he opened a newspaper and began to read, “Life’s a bitch and you can’t do anything about it.”
Esme raised her brow and looked at you for a brief moment, “He gets old but not his spirit, eh?” She nudged you with her elbow gently.
You stifled a chuckle and shook your head as you went back to the kitchen to clean the used dishes.
It’s always been you three working here. Esme, Franco and you were like family. After President Mendez delivered the order to kill all those who opposed her, your family became a target.
Your brother, around 16 years old, died right before a ceasefire was called. He was with his friends when a group of Pruyanian soldiers appeared and shot him. The cause for the shooting? He defied a soldier and showed insubordination.
Since then you’ve grown resentment to the government- specifically President Mendez.
The ground shook as you were cleaning the dishes. You slowly approached the open door entry along with Franco and Esme, watching as battle tanks drove through the city.
“Coño… what are they doing over here?” Esme asked faintly as she watched the tanks and army pass by. Their uniform blue with the serpent crest embedded on their arm. The red serpent you’ve seen all throughout the city.
“Must be presidential orders,” Franco pointed to a big screen on a tall tower. The tower stood right in the center of the city layout. Its purpose was to guide those who are lost- or maybe it was to show who the powerful ones really were.
You and Esme turned your attention to the big screen, watching as a countdown took place. They were about to distribute the cure to the citizens in 6 hours.
Esme huffed in annoyance and went back to stare at the soldiers pass by. Their boots echoing through the humid streets of Pruye as they held their weapons with a firm grip.
“They’re securing the area…” you whispered as you furrowed your brows. You turned back to look at the screen and listen to what the president had to say, “We will be patrolling the following areas- Pucalara, Miguén, San Jolonia, and San Bandero. Do not be alarmed, this is standard protocol.”
Currently, you were in San Bandero. The heart of Pruye. The soldiers all surrounded the city and held their rifles close to themselves. You watched as the tanks all moved inward, closer to the tower.
“They’re locking us in…” you spoke faintly as you quickly walked back inside the canteen. Esme and Franco exchanged a look as they followed behind you, seemingly confused.
“This isn’t protection like she claims- no. She’s locking us inside the city-“ you frantically said as you got your bag and jacket.
“Y/n, slow down. How do you even know that?” Franco put a hand on your shoulder to calm you down.
You shook your head as you swung your jacket around your shoulders, “I don’t. But knowing her… she’s hiding something and I don’t want to be here for that.”
You walked out of the canteen and walked down the sidewalk towards where the soldiers were blocking an exit. As you neared them, a soldier held out his rifle and aimed at you as he spoke through his helmet, “Turn back around. You cannot leave the area.”
You raised your hands in the air and took a step forward, resulting in the other soldiers pointing their guns at you, “I said- turn back around! Now!”
With a glare you slowly took steps back as you walked away from them. They weren’t letting people out which meant that they were also not letting people in.
As you walked back to the canteen, you noticed how people began to get out of their houses and grow confused at the soldiers. Why were they blocking the exits and entries of the city?
Right as you were about to walk inside the canteen, shots were fired. You crouched down to the floor and covered your head with your arms as you looked over your shoulder and saw soldiers shooting the civilians with weapons launching at them.
Your eyes widened at the sight of the people with machetes and guns fight each other. The sound of bodies falling down to the floor as well as the blood seeping through their lifeless bodies, staining the cement under them.
Rain began to pour down, making it hard for the soldiers to see through their helmets. You watched as a person stabbed a soldier from behind with their knife but then fall to the ground dead as the soldier behind them shot them in the head.
This was war.
Leon was called to the main office of the organization he was currently working at. Which was for the government. He found himself inside the White House again for some reason.
As he waited inside a room, he couldn’t help but notice how bright and sunny the weather had been lately. Which was a contrast to what he felt. Drained and exhausted.
The door opened gently and two men dressed in expensive suits stepped inside with a file in their hands. They approached where Leon had been sitting and sat on the couch across from him.
“Good news, your request for a getaway vacation has been approved,” one of the men, balding and tired, said as he laid the file on the coffee table between them. Leon leaned forward to pick it up and go through it.
“And the bad news?” Leon asked without glancing at them.
The other cleared his throat before speaking, “You’re being sent to another virus mission.”
Leon looked up from the file to stare at the two men. Another mission about the virus, when will it ever end?
He sighed as he closed the file and leaned back against the couch, “So another zombie apocalypse. Great, just what I fucking needed…” he whispered as he put the file back on the coffee table, “No.”
“No? What do you mean no? This is important, people’s lives are at risk and we can’t-“ Leon quickly interrupted the balding man.
“You can’t save everyone when it comes to this. I’ve seen it many times, why don’t you all just do what you did back in Raccoon City, huh? Bomb them until there’s no trace of the virus,” Leon got up and began to walk towards the door.
“This is different,” the other man said, causing Leon to stop in his tracks. “This isn’t like the virus you’ve seen before… this is much more dangerous.”
Leon turned around to look at the two of them before walking back to sit on the couch. “Go on.”
“Ahem-“ the man continued, “South America. The branch wants you to go over there and retrieve a sample of the virus. That’s all you have to do. Once you give us the sample, we’ll proceed from there and you’ll get your vacation.”
Leon narrowed his eyes at him, growing suspicious of how easy the mission sounds, “You aren’t telling me everything, are you?”
The balding man laughed nervously and readjusted his black tie, “Not per se-“
“There’s a revolution going on in the country of Pruye where you’re being sent to. They mutated the virus’s genetic code into something more dangerous and they’re using it as medicine- I believe you know where this is going,” the other man said.
Leon nodded and kept quiet as the man talked, “The government is planning on distributing this ‘medicine’ to other countries but we cannot let them. Your mission is not only to retrieve a sample but to also stop the spread and destroy the evidence of the virus ever existing. You will be given a team- both air and land to help you complete your mission. Your task is not let others know the real reason why you’re there. You are acting as a soldier proving aid to the government. Once you have retrieved the virus sample, we will pull you out of the country and bring you back.”
“This time I’m actually getting help. Nice,” Leon replied sarcastically. It was obvious that Leon wasn’t all too excited about this. He’s been used as a killing machine ever since Raccoon City. He’s been tossed around the globe with expectations of solving everyone’s issues. And he’s tired. He’s 38, he should be worrying about other things other than war and death.
His hands rested on his thighs as he began to stand up from the couch, “When do I leave?”
“First thing in the morning, you’ll be on a private plane provided by the government,” the balding man answered.
Leon nodded before finally walking towards the door and exiting the room. As he walked down the halls of the White House, he wondered what life would be like for him. Is this all he’s ever going to do? Was his life purpose about fighting and killing? He couldn’t wait to retire.
-
Smoke covered the entire block. Rain poured down harshly against your skin, causing your hair to stick to you like glue. The smell was of gunpowder and metallic blood infiltrated your nose. A vision full of haze as you stood up from being crouched down on the floor.
Blood.
A lot of blood.
They brought tanks and a helicopter. “¡Al suelo!” Someone yelled.
You got down on the floor as an incoming tank shot a building, causing it to crumble down just a few feet away from the canteen. Your eyes widened in horror at the sight.
People screamed- from pain and from the fight. You got up and ran to try and find Franco and Esme. You needed to get them out of here now.
You staggered as you ran towards the canteen. The debris that had fallen over from the building covering the road. You jumped and ducked as soldiers hid behind them and shot at anyone who they deemed a threat.
Panting through the bloodied streets, you had reached the canteen. You heard groaning and some yelling more up ahead.
You didn’t know what took over you but you found yourself running towards that sound. As you approached the yelling, you saw that Esme had been hit by a piece of debris from the collapsed building. Her leg had been squished and she desperately tried to pry the piece off of her. You kneeled down beside her and pushed the debris aside, watching in horror what had happened to her leg.
Her bone broke and penetrated her skin. Snapped in half like a twig. There was blood pooling down her leg. You froze, you didn’t know what to do. You weren’t a medic but you also weren’t heartless enough to leave her.
You took off your jacket and applied it to her wound, hoping you could at least stop the bleeding. She gripped your arm as she let out a bloody scream in pain.
“Estoy aquí- respira. Todo va estar bien-“ you tried to calm her down but she let out another yell, “y/n it hurts- grragh”
Of course it hurt, her bone was poking out of her skin.
“Where’s Franco?” You asked as you tried to get her distracted from the pain.
She didn’t respond and instead pointed to a mountain of rubble. Metal rods and pieces of cement fell down on top of people. You could see limb pieces- arm, legs. But you couldn’t recognize all of them.
Your eyes followed her finger as she pointed to the gore display.
“He’s under there…” she replied weakly and let out another pained scream.
You felt your breath catch in your throat as your heart rate quickened. Slowly standing up, you walked over to the mountain of rubble. “Franco?” You called out in a panicked tone.
Silence.
You hurriedly kneeled in front of the mountain and hastily moved the rubble away. Taking piece by piece as you denied the thoughts scurrying through your head.
Almost immediately, your heart dropped down to your stomach as you recognize the veteran necklace. With shaky hands, you reached for the necklace and took it.
Franco was dead.
Your vision blurred as you held the necklace on your chest. You let out a blood curdling scream as you trembled in horror.
The ground shook as more bombs blew off. Troops stampeded through the streets, their weapons aimed at the citizens of San Bandero.
You went back to Esme and tried to pick her up, “Come on,” you grunted as she leaned her weight on you.
Dragging her alongside you, you managed to walk further away from the city and towards the exit. The soldiers bordering the entry/exit road had been killed and now laid there lifeless. Their uniforms stained with the red tint of what could be assumed was their blood. Maybe it was also someone else’s.
As you managed to get her out of the city, you walked through the dense forest and laid her down on the ground as she leaned against a tree.
“I’m going to get help- stay here and don’t make a single sound-“
“Leave me,” Esme interrupted you. Her gaze defeated and weak as she looked up at you. “I’m only going to slow you down. You need to get out here…”
Your eyes softened at her, “I can’t leave you, Esme. You’re coming with me-“
“For fuck’s sake y/n! Just go!” She cut you off again. She sighed and closed her eyes. “Just go…”
You stared at her in silence, your feet frozen in place.
“Esme…”
“Just go. I’m not going to live, you saw what they were doing to us… please, Y/n… just go…” she rolled her head back against the tree and grunted softly in pain.
You stared at her in silence as you contemplated your next actions.
“Y/n, go to La Séten mountain…” she heaved as she tried to breathe, “There’s- there’s a group of people who can help you, give them this.”
She weakly handed you a piece of paper with writing on it. You took it and put it in your pocket as you nodded shortly.
“I will…” you whispered as you looked into her amber eyes, “I’m sorry, Esme…”
Esme gave you a weak and faint smile, “Don’t be sorry… promise you’ll live… for me…”
You nodded and held her hand as your eyes welled up in tears, “I will.”
You leaned closer to her and gave her forehead a gentle kiss. She closed her eyes and exhaled for the last time in her life.
You stifled a sob as you let go of her hand. You’ve lost Franco and now Esme too.
You walked through the forest, making your way to the mountain Esme mentioned.
-
“Madam President, the city states have been seized and are under troop surveillance.”
“Wonderful, let the Chief in Command proceed with the plan. We mustn’t delay the delivery.”
“Yes, Madam President,” the female assistant walked out of the President’s office, the same one when the announcement was first made. President Mendez let out a soft hum and stared down at the files in her hands.
“Tonight, we will change lives Doctor Ramirez,” she spoke as Doctor Ramirez walked closer to her desk.
“Yes, we will Madam President and it’s all thanks to your help. Without your sponsorship, we couldn’t have progressed so quickly with our research,” Doctor Ramirez was a tall and lanky man with glasses. His hair was neatly parted at the side and his white coat shielded the suit he was wearing underneath. He exuded wealth and power, much like the President herself.
President Mendez laughed and clapped her hands slowly, “Oh.. Doctor Ramirez, you are too humble.”
“Not all Madam President… not at all,” he replied with a quiet tone. His eyes unreadable.
-
The path to La Sénte Mountain was a rough one. It’s one of the biggest mountains in San Bandero that has been classified as unreachable. There was an abandoned trail that originally was used for horse riding but ever since the country got ruled over by President Mendez, everything turned industrial.
Trees aligned the rail as the tall grass reached up your shins. It had gotten dark by the time the bombs and the shootings all faded in the background. As you took a step up, you turned back to look at the city that was once your home become occupied by soldiers. The helicopter flashed its light in search for citizens. There was smoke and fire coming out of the city from where you stood.
You couldn’t believe this was happening. With a sigh, you continued your trail up the mountain. Unknown to you that you were being watched by eyes hidden in the grass, trees, and bushes.
Hours passed and it was now some time past midnight. You took a break to catch your breath. Sitting down on a rock, you took out the piece of paper Esme gave you.
It was a small map with the word ‘Insurgents’ on it. The map was a layout of Pruye, it contained information about where each government and army building was located around the coast as well as the center of the country.
You tucked it back into your pocket not before hearing a twig snap. Anxiety quickly coursed through your veins and you got up to leave. Whatever was out there was probably not friendly given the current uprising in the country.
With a force against your feet, you kept climbing up the mountain. Climbing for what felt hours until you saw an orange light emitting from a cave.
Fire. Someone had lit up a camp inside a cave in the mountain.
You gripped the edge of the cave and pulled your body up. As you entered, you were immediately met with guns pointed at you. There were about four men pointing their rifles at you as you climbed up. A woman came up to you and dragged you up by your arm, helping you stand on your feet.
There was a table right in the center of the cave with a lantern. And behind that table stood a woman with a scar across her face. Her eye a different color as the scar ran right through it.
“Hold your weapons,” she raised her hand to stop the men from shooting you. The men took two steps back and slowly lowered their weapons. The woman who helped you up left your side and walked back to where the other woman was standing.
“I assume you were told about us,” she began as she went around the table and walked to stand in front of you. She was taller than you by at least two inches. Her hair was short and black. Her skin tanned and full of freckles.
You nodded and took out the note Esme gave you, “A friend of mine told me to come here.”
The woman took the note and inspected it before giving it to the woman who helped you up.
“Another recruit, Esme was really good at recruiting more people,” she said casually. Your eyes widened, she knew Esme?
“I don’t suppose you know what we do or who we are?” She walked back to the table and motioned for you to follow behind her.
As you neared the table, there were papers scattered around messily. Maps and files with important information. The woman turned to you and took out her hand for a handshake, “Name’s Yanira. Welcome to Insurgents.”
You took her hand and shook it with a firm grip, “Insurgents? What are you guys?”
She let go of your hand and focused back down on the table, “We are an organization looking to overthrow President Mendez from her position. She and her minions have been controlling our land far too long. It’s time we claim back what’s ours.”
An anti-government group. And they’re fighting the Pruyanian government for freedom. You furrowed your brows and stared down at the table as well as Yarina kept speaking, “We need as many people as possible if we want to make this happen. You’ve seen how they treat people back in the city states. Why don’t you join us?”
You looked at her with wide eyes, “What? Why would you want me to join? I don’t even know how to shoot a gun.”
Yarina chuckled softly, “You’ll learn. We’ve got plenty of people who can teach you different things,” she leaned closer to you, “We’ve been preparing for this moment. All we need is more help. And you- I have a feeling you can help us big time,” she whispered and then leaned away.
She focused back on the table and continued discussing whatever it was that she was talking to the other people.
Join them? You can help them? Up until now you were just a girl working in a canteen living paycheck to paycheck. And now everything turned upside down. The army has taken control of four city states and you’ve lost more people.
It was no lie that a war was coming but to actually partake in it was terrifying, at least to you. But witnessing how everyone seemed to have the spirit and the faith that everything will work out in their favor is beginning to persuade you.
What more do you have to lose? You’ve lost your family and now your friends. It’s time to fight back for what was once yours.
“Okay,” you nodded slowly and looked at Yarina.
“I’ll join you.”
Yarina smiled brightly and hung an arm around your shoulders, celebrating with the other insurgents.
It all felt so overwhelming yet so real. This was happening and there was no turning back.
“Okay, here’s everything you need to know so far,” Yarina pointed to the map.
“The coast has been guarded up by the navy army of Pruye. President Mendez sent out an order to not let anyone in or out of the country. The ports have been closed and the soldiers are patrolling the beach.”
She then pointed to the center of Pruye, right on San Bandero, “San Bandero has become the military center of the country and is where most of the soldiers have been patrolling. This is where their control comes from. If we can target and destroy their center from this point then we have a chance at liberating the other city states.”
You furrowed your brows, “It’s not easy. I’ve seen what they brought. Tanks and helicopters. Are you sure you want to target them first? What about the civilians?”
Yarina let out a soft exhale, “We can perform an underground evacuation- some of our soldiers will go in the sewers and take people out of the city towards the forest. Once the people have been evacuated, we will proceed and attack the main tower.” She then pointed to a tall building colored in red right in the middle of the map.
“This is where most of the military controls the country. If we can hijack and steal their data, then we can convince the rest of the country to join us. And we can also delay the soldiers from terrorizing other city states.”
She already had a plan for everything. No wonder Esme knew about this. If this group was this good then that means that there’s hope for liberation.
“Okay…” you began slowly, “What do you need me to do?”
“You, my friend, have a special mission,” she slid a piece of paper your way.
“The United States will send some troops over here to aid President Mendez. I want you to go back to San Bandero with a few of my people and infiltrate their meeting location,” her finger pointed to another building on the map, “This place is called La Fundación de Membario. It is heavily guarded by soldiers. The place is where President Mendez is currently staying at. She’s going to personally welcome the Americans and give them a run down of what Pruye has been up to. She’ll most likely tell them about us and knowing her-“ her tongue clicked against the roof of her mouth as she stared at you.
“She’ll want the Americans to target us.”
You pinched your brows together and looked back down at the files of the American soldiers that were expected to come, “But why is the U.S. sending their military over here?”
“Because President Mendez sent an emergency alert to their President. She declared her country was threatened by us and needed backup. So, the U.S. playing God in all wars- decided to send their people over here to control us.”
You looked up at her from the files as she spoke again, “But you know what I think? I think they don’t stand a chance against us. We know the country better than anyone. They’ll die right before they can touch land,” she replied quietly.
She sounded like she wasn’t lying. It was a promise to herself and to the people of Pruye.
“When do I start?” You asked after putting the files back down on the table.
“Tomorrow morning. You can stay at our camp and we’ll teach you the basics. For now, you should rest. We’ve a long day tomorrow,” she patted your shoulder and walked deeper into the cave. The other insurgents gave you a look and some gave you a firm nod as they followed their leader.
You exhaled shakily as you looked out the cave. From now on, you were a soldier. No longer the girl working in a canteen. That life was long gone.
You were now part of the Revolution.
