Hades x Reader || Drabble
Tumblr media
Plot: He's a villain; So you would- could never, ever fall in love with him.
'Sooner or later you're gonna want it. And the second- the second that happens, you know I'll sup in; have myself a real good day.' - Spike, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
... But he'll still wait patiently, for you.
Warnings: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Mischaracterisation?
Tagging: @asperol-with-izzy , @disney-android-foundation , @lady-love88 , @marinerainbow , @miss_understood , and @yesthetrashbin .
The instant that you see the villain in your house, waiting for you again lounging on your bed, smoke spread all over the floor; you groan. "Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh- "
Hades only shows a flicker or irritation by your obnoxiously drawn-out moan, before its snuffed out with a roll of his shoulders and he gets up from your bed. Now his head grazes the ceiling but he comes here so often, asking you on walks with him and bringing you dinner you couldn't have scrounged for yourself with a weeks pay despite how many time's you've told him no, never, so you're past the fear of him setting the house on fire. His yellow eyes glow in the dim room and, like always, it causes a little warmth to spready in the pit of your belly- you ignore it. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll be gone in a sec, okay babe? I got places to be today, anyway. Just gimmie a minute, here."
"Why should I?"
"Uh- " This time real frustration passes over his face; settling for a few moments as he speaks. "Well you don't have that much of a choice, doya babe? So just shut up and listen, eh?"
Not-at-all scared, you just roll your eyes, setting your basket down on the side table and crossing your arms impatiently over your chest. "Fine. What do you want? I don't see any exotic fruits... another walk?"
Here, a smirk slips over his mouth; The flames atop his head give a happy crackle, and he gently shakes his head. "Not this time. Unless, I mean- you want to?? I can reschedule my meeting with the Fates, if you- " When he reads your expression, a familiar and cold 'hell no' written all over it, he sighs. Disappointed, but... not surprised at all, anymore. "Right. Right- uh, look babe. I just came here to let ya know, I... "
Hades? Lost for words?? That almost concerns you. Almost makes you lower your freezing cold exterior, and ask- ... but no. No. Instead, you tighten your arms over your chest and increase the impatient, expectant look in your eyes. Like, hurry up.
"... Okay. Look. I like you, (Full name). I might even go so far as to say I'm fallin' for ya- and thats new to me. I'm lost in some really unfamiliar waters, here," He chuckles, nervously, looking truly out of his depth for a moment. "Thats never happened to me before, this is new, and I- I- I'm tryin' to do it right. Sweep you off your feet; all that romantic jazz. Which I honestly think is kinda psychotic-... But uh... " His eyes lift from somewhere on the ground to your left, up to your eyes and he gives you another half-smirk. "I think we both know its not my thing."
... breaking your silence for a moment, you give a little tiny nod; not sure where this is going. "We do." You say quietly.
"Yea. Well, between you and me- its not workin' as well as you'd think, is it?"
"... no."
"Right, so," He rolls those broad shoulders again, giving his neck an uncomfortable stretch. "I'm uh- I'm gonna stop trying."
That gives you pause. " -What??"
"-not that I'm done here, exactly, no no no. I don't give up so easy, sweetheart. I'm gonna be here, or well- around. Waiting. And some day if... And someday when, you decide ya want me, then I'll come for ya. Just call."
Eyebrows furrowing, you suddenly remember something Hades said earlier. You'd almost forgotten it, because it seemed unimportant before, but now seems significant. "... Why are you going to meet with the fates?" Does he... know something? Is going to ask something?? What-
He just grins, infuriatingly. And his body begins to disappear into smoke, and your eyes widen- because- wait! "Remember what I just told you, babe. Keep it in mind, mull it over. I got nothin but time and I don't mind using it waiting on you. You're kinda worth it, eh?" -He didn't answer your question!
"But!- "
"Lookin' forward to your call, sweetheart."
"I'm not gonna call!- "
"Uhuh."

do you have any more streamer!jenny +giles for us?
kinda surprised the love this au got 😱😱Yeah I'll draw some stuff I just got off work so I'll begin doing some stuff.
in terms of headcannons I have a few ^_^
Jenny isn't mega popular or anything, I think she'd be a smaller streamer with like 1-2k viewers at a time. She does gaming and random demon shit, tarot card readings or whatever. People really like her purple aesthetic she has going on and her mascot is a black cat. She just gets into drama cuz she just says whatever she wants and ALWAYS responds cuz she's got stuff to say!! Her merch is low key awful LOL she sells t-shirts and a few mugs via tspring or something but gets Oz to draw her up something worth while at some point. She streams at night with no set schedule cuz thats when she has time after work. Willow is one of her mods (Willow thinks its bc she's Jennys favorite student but it's mostly because she doesn't have to pay Willow LOL)
Giles doesn't start showing up until a bit later and not super consistently (he like never even knows whats going on, let alone that more than 5 people are watching. usually busy w/ Buffy anyways) I think Giles would be oddly good at among us. I just think he would be able to win more often than not. Jenny tries to get him to play new games but he sucks so bad it's not even real. He tries to do a run of Skyrim one night and manages to get past the tutorial but gets so engrossed reading the in-game books that the entire chat gets so pissed off most people leave. They get him to play around of fortnite and it causes the same reaction that the G-fuel gave him. He isn't scared by FNAF because "it happened to me once" (He doesn't elaborate.) He gets confused by the chat begging him to put on a maid dress because he's picturing like the really long old fashion kind and is like "? you people are very strange"
Ethan makes periodic appearances to superchat and will either send a dollar and be like "KILL YOURSELF!!!!!!!!" Or "please tell him to text me back." and he doesn't get banned because it's funny that some 29 year old has major beef with some 45 year old gay guy.

Bangel fans, we want to hear from you! During the run-up to the IWRY Fic Marathon in November, we’ll be getting to know each other through our Meet the Fandom series. Answer the questions here to join in.
What is your name?
abby
Where do you hang out?
instagram: lostlcve, tumblr: @bangelism and discord mostly! but i'm also on youtube and tiktok as lostlcve. and ao3 as claddaghrings
Do you create any fan works?
i make edits and sometimes i write fics
Funniest Bangel/Buffyverse moment?
i love this question their comedy is so underrated. i think i have to say the scene in the beginning of helpless where she's telling him about going out with her dad, and you can just see the absolute panic in his eyes. plus the way he's trying to casually ask her out on a date is so precious as well. it's so good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GIF by @liam-summers
What Buffyverse opinion would have you chased through the village with pitchforks?
honestly i feel like existing as a huge angel stan in the fandom some days is enough to get chased…don't know how unpopular this is, but i kinda like connor. mostly as a baby, but i do feel really awful for him and i understand why he acts the way he does sometimes. at the end of the day he's a teenage boy who has literally been to hell and back and i have to sympathise with him for that. i also just love the angel dad arc in s3 it's one of my favourites.
Tumblr media
Share a headcanon you have about Bangel or the Buffyverse?
i have too many!! mostly about angel (i think about him too much). a kinda silly inconsequential one is that he loves plants. he gets given that plant by a client in 1x04 and then in 1x06 he gives cordy a cactus and the apartment/office is covered in plants. and the same happens to the hyperion. even the garden in the mansion in s3 of buffy is just beautiful, he must have been putting in the effort.
How would you have given Buffy and Angel their Happily Ever After?
the shanshu happens, they get together and spend some time navigating and working out their new life together. soon after she proposes to him, they get married and in my head i always see them having a little girl. buffy continues to be a slayer, but mostly through helping with and training all the new slayers in some sort of slayer school-esque thing, and angel is a stay at home dad <3
Last fic you read?
windows to the soul by taaroko (and just started the sequel)
Slay, Lay, Obey - Anya, Jenny, Gunn?
slay: jenny. i just don’t like her. that’s all.
lay: hmm probably gunn
obey: anya but i really think that would backfire on me very quickly and i would 100% regret it. but it could be fun for a while
Fill in the quiz so the fandom can meet you!

Tagging @austennerdita2533, @crazychicke, @rachelemmaharper, @ack46, @storm-pirate, @i-believe-in-melinda-may, and @gh-0-stcup for helping me with Darla question. @paigemarie007 @karinanic @mydarlingklaus
Spike opens the door of his DeSoto and he puts his hand out for Drusilla to take. Once she is out of the car, she looks around and in her quiet voice says, “Angel.”
He looks over at her. He didn't feel Angel around but maybe her sense is stronger because he turned her. “He’s here too? I’m getting us something to eat.”
She leans into him and says dreamily,“I’m a princess.”
“That you are.”
Before he can say anything else,Drusilla leaves And he knows exactly where she is going. She thought she smelt her precious Angel. He just worries about her. She hasn’t been the same since Prague. Spike smells blood and fear and it’s Intoxicating. He follows the smell to Hemery High School. As he is walking up to the school he looks back and swears he faintly smells Angel. But the blood is more potent in the gym where Lothos is feeding from a blonde teenage girl in a white dress.
When Lothos sees Spike he drops the girl and she hits the gym floor with a thud, “Spike! It’s been awhile. How are you?”
Spike shrugs his shoulders as he looks around and notices that everyone here is already dead. It's disappointing. “Good, kinda hungry.”
“Welcome to my buffet. You’re welcome to have anyone.”
As Spike looks around his eyes come across the blonde in the white dress she is still alive and looking up at him with pleading eyes. Her beauty is astonishing. He’s never seen someone so beautiful. She’s glowing so much that the poet in him wants to use the word effulgent. He feels horrible for this thought but she might be more beautiful than his dark princess. The way her green eyes have locked on to his and there’s so much emotion there but there’s also a will to live. He can’t let a beauty like this die and rot.
He bends down to the young woman and puts his arm under her neck to bring her to a sitting position. He asks her the same thing Drusilla asked him over a hundred years ago. “Do you want to walk worlds the others can’t begin to imagine?”
She can’t speak, blood has begun to pool in her throat, so she nods her head. And Spike's demon comes out and he licks the holes left by Lothos, healing them up. He sinks his fangs into the other side of her neck, drawing the little bit of blood she has left. It tastes different but familiar. He hears her heart slowing down even more and on the last beat he pulls his fangs out.
He takes one of his fingernails and makes a slice at his neck then brings the limp girl to his neck. He softly says. “Drink luv and come join the world.”
Barely alive she musters all the strength she has and sinks her human teeth into his neck and drinks his blood. She can’t believe it, it's so gross but she can’t stop.
After a couple mouthfuls she dies in his arms.

hi, i've been following you for a lil bit and started rewatching buffy (re-living my teenage years) and ive seen you talk about s6, which i absolutely agree! and i think a lot in that season has to do with how buffy's death was handled at the beginning of s2. she was killed by the master and then (being 16 and all) came back and wasn't dealing with it all that well (shocker), and tbh the main reactions from her friends was just 'to deal with it' and 'get over it'. even after Giles tries to explain to them that she might be more traumatised than she lets on. (Giles is the person who should have stepped up and said something to her but he also just let her push him away when he KNEW. HE IS THE ADULT.) ...and in the end, all of the responsibility of 'failing' to protect her friends falls on her AGAIN because she wasn't in the right mind to make a sound decision but nobody acknowledges that. it doesn't feel fair towards her. she's carrying too much on her own. ive been having feelings watching btvs from a fresh perspective and had no clue where to put this so here i am. sorry if this is weird or sudden and feel free to ignore.
hi! i've never made that connection with the start of season 2, that's actually such a good point. and it makes sense to me how differently this is handled in season 2 and 6, because the show is at very different points in the way it portrays these themes. what i like about season 6 is how it actually takes the premise of buffy coming back from the dead (and the trauma that causes) seriously. like the whole idea of buffy being pulled out of heaven by her friends and then having to pretend she's ok even though she's literally experiencing her version of hell is INSANE. i like how the season delves into the main character's trauma and how each of them are kinda fighting themselves, and how that fractures the group, and how they find their way back to each other. obviously the writing has some major issues and certain uuhm Questionable Choices were made. but yeah the whole portrayal of buffy's depression and her alienation from her friends is so well done. but also i agree she never actually got the support she really needed cause everyone was too busy with their own shit 💀 they put that girl through so much man, someone let her rest!!

oh, how did you expect to be traumatized by Faith and how was it actually like haha?
So I had a preconceived notion of what Faith would be like, including her arc and dynamic with Buffy just because I'm like that lol. I kinda thought she'd have brooding lone wolf vibes, and while she did have a certain type of lone wolf vibe it wasn't the brooding one. Basically, I expected her to be a bit more like Angel only less whiny (sorry). I thought it'd be this angsty story where she, like Buffy, struggles with Slayer responsibilities but just wants everything done and is almost mechanical about it. I expected a darker tone for sure and I do like how the three Slayers of Buffy, Kendra and Faith form a narrative triangle of sorts. I just didn't expect her to get this dark lol.
From the beginning Faith is personable and, honestly, a lil but desperate for approval especially Buffy's. And I do think that's a good story though I don't think her initial alienation from the gang was done well. And then the murder of it all. So like, I'm glad there were hints that Faith is basically doing sunk cost fallacy and really just scared but doubling down, but I don't think they leaned into that enough. And then they leaned too far into Faith being jealous of every aspect of Buffy's life!
But yeah I do think it's a logical and good move to have her turn to the dark side and become the Mayor's dragon. I should have seen that coming lmaoo. I have a few issues with execution but overall a good story, and so it's traumatizing in a different way than expected. I expected the Buffy and Faith dynamic to be more like... Catradora, I guess is the closest equivalent. And there are shades of that but then what traumatized me instead was Faith going really dark, quite quickly I'd say. The attempted rape of Xander... Yikes. Big big yikes. I can excuse compartmentalizing manslaughter and even the subsequent killings, but that was really hard to swallow. That was when I wasn't sure whether I could keep supporting women's wrongs.
I also find the Mayor's relationship with her twisted but I haven't fully processed that yet. It's interesting that he really did care and heartbreaking that Faith was that desperate for affection. I just think she went a bit too mustache twirly a bit too fast. And then the big showdown with Buffy lacked the emotional umph that I think it needed but I liked the dream sequence and Buffy saying goodbye.
Keep in mind I don't know what happens with Faith post s3, I can only logically assume a redemption is in store. I still find her really interesting and I tend to like stories that traumatize me lol. I just expected the fallout between her and Buffy to feel, idk, even more tragic. I guess I wish a man wasn't such a big part of it 💀
I'm not sure whether that answers the question but please, do talk to me about Faith, keeping in mind where I'm at in the series. Curious to know your thoughts Anon.

🙄🤨 Some thoughts on "Rebooting" (please don't call it that) a certain show from the 90s
Tumblr media
Doggett and Reyes, alright, that was kind of an economical (for Fox) necessity at the time and there was a direct link to and succession from Mulder and Scully. The show was on the fucking air and it was a continuation. One that's still kinda debated ...
But now. In 2023. After a second and third reiteration in which Chris Carter already proved that he has no clue whatsoever how to let characters and stories evolve over longer time spans. After so many unsatisfying and weird quasi-endings to Mulder's and Scully's epic and intimate story....
Just please...don't do anything cruel to the already desecrated corpse ...maybe?
Just....don't call it a reboot or "reviving" the show? Maybe call it "set in the same universe" or something?
Although...wait...
What even is the X-Files universe????????? Apart from being yet another asset in Disney's monopolistic graveyard of once beautiful stories pocket?
The X-Files "universe" as in the mythological or logical frame of the show in terms of rules to its stories is such a butchered, ripped apart and awkwardly sewn back together collection of incoherent ideas. And even though nobody found a sustainable way to translate other crucial ingredients of its former cutting edge tv Show-ness, that's still holding up aesthetically 30 years later, into the age of peak TV...what made us come back were these two characters: Mulder and Scully. Iconic figures. A pairing you cannot easily recreate and definitely shouldn't try to recreate in any obvious ways (*painfully remembers Einstein and Miller 😱*) Even Doggett and Reyes were mere diversions in what was essentially Scully's and Mulder's story.
So: If you shoudn't recreate that iconic pairing under the same fucking title and if the universe is a mess to begin with, the only thing that will work is building something new from scratch that's somewhat related to what The X-Files used to embody? If you have someone "take over" the literal X-Files ...like....even that idea needs some new and good juice because how and why and what???? Also: having someone investigate paranormal stuff....it's not exactly a unique/original idea?????
And what even does "diverse" mean? I mean...maybe it could actually become a black story in a sort of post-colonial way. Mulder was always a dude trying to work against the system. So what if it's someone trying to fight white supremacy and untangle its web by dealing with The X-Files? IN the actual belly of the beast??? The fucking FBI that harassed MLK. And that was founded by a racist???? Maybe the show would need to work more like BTVS and become (Just like Buffy) more overtly metaphorical.
OK, that might actually work...and make sense as far as I'm even allowed to judge that 🙈. Or would it? 🥺🤨🧐🤗🥴 (I actually kinda like it. But Chris Carter isn't allowed to touch it please. Also: please: no couple/man-woman duo with a msr-esque dynamic!!!)
Most importantly: I kinda doubt this alleged reboot of TXF will actually happen now. Well...in the end it all depends on the audience testing I guess. If this project will ever reach the pilot stage. Also: will they set it up at hulu/Disney+? Honestly: If they do (and they absolutely should) I'm gonna be fucking mad because they should've done that (in theory...it wasn't possible in 16 and 18) with seasons 10 and 11 😭.

You know, having finally watched Dollhouse, I can’t help but notice some similarities between BtVS’s Spike and Dollhouse’s Alpha:
They’re both pretty unrepentant murderers (Spike because he’s a vampire, Alpha because he’s like 50 people and all of them have been fucked up by what they’ve been through)
They’re both hopeless romantics albeit in a totally twisted way and would do anything--and I mean ANYTHING--for the one they love including truly heinous acts
They both love super-strong women and literally worship the ground they walk on
though they also both oscillate wildly between proclaiming their love (usually in wildly inappropriate ways) and wanting the object of their obsession dead (but not really, because god fucking damn it they love them and they’re both suckers for love it’s like literally their reason for existing)
Since everyone’s superhuman here, they have no problem throwing down with their prospective honey if that’s how it’s gonna be
They both know instantly that something is genuinely special about The Girl
They both develop an obsession with the main character (Buffy/Echo) as soon as they clap eyes on them. Is it creepy? Kinda. But they get better, so... *shrug?* look, this is fiction, it’s not real, we can have this here okay
They both begin as Big Bads but canonically end up as Good Guys (even though we sadly didn’t really get to see the evolution from A to B in Alpha’s case)
They’re both really insightful and actually have some pretty valid points, however difficult or uncomfortable those points may be. But they’ve also got some pretty skewed logic mucking up the works, too
They both get an idea in their head and won’t stop until they’ve achieved their goal
They both show the ability to evolve. Like, they both realize at some point that they’re missing something critically important for them to be with the object of their affection and try various ways to fill that gap. Unfortunately, they both get it wrong a few times before getting it right (again, Alpha was on this road, but the show got cancelled before we got to see the whole transformation. We really only got to see the beginning and end :( which sucks, but we know it happens somewhere in the vaguery between S2 and the Epitaphs timeline)
There are so many opportunities for the main characters of both shows to just kill the Big Bad Evil son of a bitch and end things then and there, but they just... don’t? and then Spike/Alpha just get up and walk away lol
Some of the developing themes around their characters revolve around similar questions of identity and nature vs. nurture: how much does your original self remain when you become a demon/Doll? Which is stronger, your original self or what you were made to be? Are you shackled to your “nature” or can you change to become someone better? Someone you want to be? How can you do that when you’ve done so much wrong (and you’re low-key kinda not sorry about a lot of it)?
They both can switch between being comedy gold and genuinely menacing on a dime
And **MORE SIGNIFICANT SPOILERS AHEAD**
honestly? I think they both ultimately end up in love with the reality of The Girl than the idealized version of her. At first Spike is attracted to Buffy as The Slayer. As he evolves and they grow closer, he tries to convince Buffy to become a creature of darkness like him because he thinks that’s the only way they can be together. But he does love the human parts of her, and in the end accepts the complexity of who she is and loves all of her without reservation or expectation. Angel, on the other hand, loved the idea of Buffy more than the reality of her and never really moved past that. He insisted he knew who she was and what was best for her. By the same token, Alpha believes Echo will love him the moment he frees her by recreating his Composite Event. He tries to convince her that they are the same kind of new being, that they are gods/ubermensch, but she rejects his worldview and him. That doesn’t stop Alpha from trying to understand why she did that and attempt to bridge the gap between himself and her. He initially rejects Caroline and "loves" Echo (the Doll and all her many personalities). He’s frustrated by her rejection, but seeks to understand it. After he imprints himself with Paul Ballard’s personality, I think he would have gone on to a) actually understand love beyond obsession, and b) love Caroline AND Echo. Additionally, like Spike when he got his soul, I think he would also have better understood his own deficits and felt more remorse for his past sins. He would have vacillated between doubling down and seeking atonement, at turns hindering and aiding the main characters before eventually committing to a heel-face turn. He was on the same road to reformation and redemption as Spike was and likely would have loved Echo completely without asking for anything in return (as seems to be implied by their interactions in Epitaphs II). Paul, on the other hand, is attracted to Echo but in love with the idea of Caroline (without having ever actually met her until much later, and that didn't really work out too hot for him because, like he did with Echo, she holds him at arms length emotionally). Despite realizing that Echo is becoming a person in her own right with her own desires and feelings, he shuts Echo down every time she tries to get closer to him, presumably because he feels like any relationship beyond a professional or platonic one would be a violation of Caroline’s being. Basically, he sees Echo as only and forever a vessel, an empty shell to someday be filled back up by Caroline--and when that day comes he is hoping that she will love him back when he “rescues” her (and, unlike Alpha, seems more stubborn about sticking to his guns and waiting for the “real” girl to come back instead of realizing shit’s a lot more complicated than that now).
Idk, I'm just saying from what I see there's a lot of common ground here. Don't get me wrong, there are some significant differences between Spike and Alpha, too (as well as Buffy and Echo's respective situations), but I found some of the parallels intriguing. A lot of this is conjecture for Dollhouse/Alpha because the show got canceled before they could really explore Alpha's character arc. And look, I know this is personal taste, but just like with Spike vs. Angel, Alpha was way more intriguing than Paul imo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(also, like, there are THREE gifs of Alpha that I can find. THREE. How? Is? This? POSSIBLE??? How am I supposed to work in these conditions?!?)
Anybody else see any other parallels between Spike and Alpha? Or maybe between Buffy and Echo/Caroline? and are any of my fellow spuffy shippers also on this ship? if anyone out there loves spike but hasn't seen dollhouse, I'd recommend it, also please talk to me, I need people to talk to about my new hyperfixation/problematic blorbo...

Do you think Buffy and Jenny's dynamic would be as Awkward Stepmom/Stepchild if they had met each other before Giles? i hold an au close to my heart where Buffy meets Jenny in LA and, seeing someone who a) knows abt Weird Fucked Up Magic Shit and b) isn't a Watcher, kinda attaches herself to Jenny like a leech while Jenny is like. exactly as weird and awkward and sympathetic to Buffy as she is in canon.
i think it would be very hard for me to write while keeping everyone reasonably in character but also the concept of Giles giving Buffy an order and her immediately looking to Jenny to see if she should care or not my beloved.
i actually have a semi-secret VERY VERY ANGSTY au that involves a buffyjenny dynamic a lot like that!!!! i also think it would add some really excellent extra spice to calendiles if jenny has a pre-existing relationship with buffy and buffy clearly likes jenny more than giles at the beginning of canon. like here is this absurdly hot incredibly intelligent woman and to add insult to injury his slayer LIKES THIS LADY MORE THAN HIM. (NOT that he cares! who cares! he's fine! he's doing his job!) also giles and jenny would get in co-parenting fights about buffy all the time in season one but they'd have to be stealth about it because buffy is a Child Of Divorce and they both don't want to upset her.
i do think that giles plays a part in the weirdness though because he's so important to both of them in a way that they're both conditioned to feel ashamed of, as it distracts from their destiny, and then here is this person who is so similar to them in demeanor & priorities who should OBVIOUSLY judge them for being Bad At Their Job! but they have more of a fighting chance to start off on good terms if he isn't (YET) a part of the picture.

Chapter 42 Cabin Fever
Faith brushed dirt from her hands and sat down in front of Guinevere’s fresh grave. Callum threw down the shovel Faith had pilfered from the B&B’s garden shed and sat down next to her. “You alright?”
She shrugged, “She was a Slayer and I killed her.”
Callum straightened his back, “Self defense against a crazy woman thought to have been dead long ago, who just stabbed someone you care about. You didn’t know Buffy was going to pull through.”
“That’s just it, I’m not sorry… Not for that anyway.”
“But you feel sorry for her.”
“Yeah, I guess I kinda do. I mean this whole thing was seriously messed up from the beginning. Who’s bright idea was it to lock her inside a freaking cave anyway? That thing about it being for her protection was a crock of bull.”
He looked around at the seemingly idyllic forest landscape surrounding the cottage. It looked like something out of a Disney film. “Agreed. This place screams gilded cage.”
“Probably some Watcher’s Council BS, or maybe she was already going nuts or something. Who knows.” She said plucking a blade of grass and tearing it into little pieces.
“Are you going to be alright?”
“Always am.”
He wrapped an arm around her. “Babe, it’s me. Couples therapy, remember?”
“So much more fun when you’re naked.”
Callum chuckled, “Come on, beautiful, you wanted to check out the cottage some more, might find some answers.”
She sighed and pulled herself up. “Yeah, better see if there are any more bombshells waiting for us.”
*****
Buffy pushed herself up out of bed unsteadily. She was healing well but her chest and back seared with pain at every movement. She watched Spike sleeping for a moment as she gingerly shrugged on her robe before creeping out of the room. The bathroom door at the end of the hall was open and Buffy shuffled towards it. She was feeling fairly weak after everything and wouldn’t have gotten up at all if she didn't have to use the bathroom so badly.
She stood at the sink washing her hands and examining her reflection in the mirror. She was pale and looked exhausted. There were circles under her eyes like she hadn’t slept in a week. Her breathing was still a little off but at least she was ambulatory. Barely. This was definitely worse than the wound she had suffered at the Hellmouth.
The corner of the shower curtain caught her eye in the mirror.
Mmm… hot water sounds really good— I should probably get cleaned up and check out the damage for myself…
She sighed as she shrugged off her robe and the oversized shirt she had slept in. Then turned to look at herself in the mirror. She peeled off the bandage a few inches right of her sternum. It was a testament to how much the ordeal had upset Spike since he had yet to make a joke about her being stabbed in the boob. The slash was crusted over with blood. It looked like it was a few days old and had started to heal. She proceeded to contort her arm around to pull off the bandage at her back. Using the mirror she was able to see that side was healing just as well. The hilt of the sword had left a nasty bruise.
There were two baskets on the countertop filled with tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner. A third basket was filled with what looked like little seashell shaped homemade soaps. Buffy grabbed one of each along with a fresh washcloth and proceeded to the shower. It was just as glorious as she had hoped it would be. The wounds were raw and burned under the water but it felt so good to get clean. She washed gingerly, watching trace amounts of blood and dirt run down the drain.
Could be worse, at least it doesn’t look like the shower scene in ‘Psycho’— She thought.
By the time she got back to their room she felt like she had just finished an extensive training session with the girls. She took the towel off of her wet hair and pulled her robe tighter around herself. Then collapsed back onto the bed as smoothly as possible and let out a hiss of pain as she eased against the pillows. The wound at her back stung dully and felt like one large bruise.
Because it is one big bruise.
She shifted awkwardly as she tried to get comfortable and swore under her breath. Spike lifted his head towards her groggily, “Alright, Pet?”
“I’m fine. Just doing the healing thing.”
He turned, propped himself up on one elbow with his head in his hand, “You smell nice. Shower help?”
“Yeah. I’m feeling better. Still hurts but you know how that goes—“ she cut off with a wince of pain.
“What do you feel like doing? Do you want to head home early or take a few more days here?”
“I hadn’t really thought about it. We should probably check out the cottage again.” She said pulling the blanket back over herself.
“Faith and Callum went this morning, been gone all day as far as I know.”
She nodded, “Alright. What about phone calls? Did you call Willow?”
Spike frowned and cleared his throat, “Not yet, I thought it might be better if you talked to her.”
Buffy looked towards the clock, “Almost dinner time. I’ll call later.”
“You should definitely eat something.”
“I look like death.”
“Nonsense. I look like death and no one bats an eye.”
“You look like you should be a male pinup in some dirty magazine.”
“You say the sweetest things,” he chuckled, “but seriously, you need to eat. Sure you’re a bit peaky but just as beautiful as ever, nothing a little makeup can’t fix if you’re all that worried.”
“Gee thanks,” her voice dripped with sarcasm.
“Come on, you know I’m right.”
“Fine. can you hand me some clean clothes?”
“You need fresh bandages.”
She glanced over at the clock again, “Yeah, that’s probably a good idea. They are looking better but I really don’t need them popping open if I have another coughing fit or something. Dinner actually sounds like a pretty great idea right now.”
Spike rolled out of bed and grabbed a clean pair of jeans and a shirt for himself. His own wound looked significantly better than hers but he was still moving rather stiffly.
“How are you feeling?” She asked.
“I’m alright, Pet. Bit tender, but then I don’t have to breathe so there’s that,” he said as he pulled his shirt on gingerly and went to get Buffy’s clothes out of her bag. He tossed them onto the bed next to her before grabbing the first aid kit.
Buffy slipped her robe off of her shoulders and Spike raised his eyebrows when he saw the wounds.
“Well, at least it’s starting to close a little.”
“Yeah, it’s not as bad as yesterday, still hurts like a bitch.”
“I hear you on that one.”
Spike moved around to her back laying a cool hand on her shoulder as he applied a fresh bandage. When he finished he ran his fingers down her arms, kissing her neck.
Buffy inhaled sharply at his tender caress and started to cough a little. “Sorry, Love,” he murmured as he moved back around to her front. He shook his head as he secured the bandage, “Likely to leave a scar.”
“Guess it’s a good thing my boyfriend thinks my scars are sexy.” She smirked.
“Bloody well right they are,” he crooned and leaned in to kiss her.
Buffy slowly pulled back from the kiss, “Humm, yeah, better not start anything we can’t finish.”
He pushed her clothes towards her, “Better put these on then.”
“Any idea what they are serving for dinner tonight?” She asked as she started to dress herself.
He sniffed the air, “Hard to tell over your soap but I’m thinking it smells a bit like a curry,” he answered as he helped her with her shirt.
“Sounds good.”
*****
Faith had spent the past couple of hours going through the cabin and more specifically the things in Guinevere’s bedroom. Her room was the most orderly place on the entire second level. It was also the only room they had found so far that didn’t have any drawings on the walls. The only thing that really stuck out was the enormous bookcase along one wall that was completely filled with journals and sketchbooks. They were stacked on top of the bookcase until they reached the ceiling. There were no other books. Not one.
This is a job for the brains… I can’t do this shit…
Faith thought as she flipped through one of the journals.
She scoffed and went back out into the hall behind Callum who had brought his camera along and was now taking pictures of the drawings covering the walls in the upstairs hallway. The drawings looked like they were done in charcoal from the fireplace. It looked as though Guinevere had tried to wash them down a few times but had started over again. Most of the drawings were of things that happened years before she and Buffy were called but a few looked familiar. One such drawing looked remarkably like Angelus and it made Faith shudder.
Another drawing showed a depiction of what was clearly mayor Wilkins turning into a giant snake. She had been in a coma at the time and had only heard about the events after. Although, surprisingly, it wasn’t half as bad as seeing the Beast she had faced in LA just after she broke out of prison; when Angel had lost his soul.
There was even a scene depicting Angelus feeding off of her. She had nearly died from the substance she had injected into herself in order to knock him out. It had ended up being an odd bonding experience for them in the end. It was strange and more than a little unnerving to see it on the wall like that.
Faith sat down on the floor staring at the drawings.
Callum lowered his camera and looked down at her, “You alright, darling?”
She didn’t respond immediately, “All of this is just seriously freaking weird. Like scenes from my life and it’s just really nuts-o-plenty.”
“I can imagine. I don’t know how I’d feel if it were me.” He shrugged, “Did you see the one in the bedroom at the end? There’s one with a guy collapsed over a cross, I swear it looks like Spike from the back. Got the hair anyway. It’s really freaky.”
“Yeah it really does. What did you think of the ice monster one?”
Callum shrugged, “Bit over the top aesthetically, speaking. Looks like a giant icicle thing with claws and teeth.”
Faith had to laugh, “Yeah pretty much. Got to say I’m kind of glad I haven’t had to fight that one. Not really a fan of the whole snow and ice-mountain cave-dweller scene. And what’s with the Yeti looking thing with the box?”
“You’re the expert here.”
“Right—“ she gave him a skeptic look and shrugged it off.
“What do you make of that one?” He asked, pointing to his left. Most of the drawings there were so corrupted by intersecting lines, neither of them could figure out what they were supposed to be.
“Not a clue, most of this looks like complete garbage. Make sure you get pictures of everything though.”
“On it, Lass.”
“Did you have a chance to check out those last two rooms?”
“Ahh, I got the one on the left you already checked out . Not much in there, in the way of artwork. You already saw the two sets of bunk beds without mattresses. Kinda looks like she just piled stuff up in there that reminded her of her family,” His shoulders dropped a little, “This place is bloody depressing.”
She crossed her arms over her chest as she scanned her eyes over the walls. “Giles would blow his intellectual wad in here. Probably wouldn’t be able to get him to shut up about the place.”
“Trust me, if it weren’t for the creep-factor I’d probably be right along with him.”
“Yeah well I’m going to check out that last room.”
Faith padded down the hallway a little. The door opened a crack and she gasped when the sight of a woman met her; before she realized it was yet another drawing. The room had been completely cleared out. Every reachable surface had been drawn on. Black lines of charcoal covered nearly every inch.
The drawing of the woman that had first caught her attention, took up about half of one wall. She was thin, dark haired and wore a white empire waist gown with blood dripping down the front of her. She was surrounded by children of various ages, and fire.
A wall of blood red fire stood behind the figures in the drawing. It was one of the only drawings that had any color added and Faith realized with a jolt that it was probably blood. Maybe from one of the animals Guinevere had killed.
Faith pulled herself away from the intense stare of the two dimensional woman to examine the rest of the drawings. Demons in all shapes and sizes dotted the walls. A flayed man bound between two trees. Another man arched in pain as light shot out of his eyes and mouth obscuring his features. A woman with blonde hair that looked like it could be Buffy, punching her fist into a demonic Frankenstein’s monster. There was an odd image of a woman floating, dressed in all black with black hair and eyes and unnerving black veins running across her exposed skin.
Faith had no way of knowing if most of these drawings were from the past, present, or future. She had heard stories about Willow going dark and wondered if the last drawing could possibly be her.
Callum walked in, disrupting her thoughts, “Bloody hell—“ he breathed, “Glad I brought extra film.”
“You’re not kidding.”
He pointed towards the picture that had originally caught Faith’s eye, “Who do we think that is?”
Faith frowned, “That would be Spike’s ex.”
*****
Buffy and Spike had just gone into the great room after dinner when Faith and Callum returned to the Inn. Buffy was starting to feel significantly better after getting some food in her stomach. Spike had been right to insist she eat.
Faith plopped down on the couch next to Buffy, jostling the cushions and making Buffy wince.
She turned to glare at her, “Easy, bouncing Betty.”
“Sorry about that B, kind of a rough day.”
“How so? What did you guys find?”
Callum sat in a wingback chair next to the spot Spike had taken up on its twin in front of the unlit fireplace.
Faith sighed and shifted further into the cushions, “Well, we took care of Guinevere and checked out her graffiti. It’s really extensive, there is so much crap to go through there.”
Spike leaned forward, resting his elbows on his thighs. “Anything of note?”
“Lots. Some of it was stuff I know already happened. Like she was having Slayer dreams about us. I really don’t believe she didn’t know Slayers were still around. I really think she was playing us from the get-go.”
Buffy hugged a throw pillow to her chest, “I wondered when you first told us about the drawings. It’s really wiggy.”
“She had to have known.”
“Maybe it sort of added to driving her round the bend.” Callum suggested, “Don’t forget bout the journals and the sketchbooks we found too.”
“Ohh yeah, thanks babe. Yeah she had like hundreds of these things on a big bookshelf in her bedroom. I only flipped through a couple of them but she was definitely losing it for a while.”
“It doesn’t surprise me,” Buffy frowned.
Faith turned back to Buffy, “I had Callum get pictures of all of it. And we grabbed a few of the journals for Giles but there are too many of them to even think about taking with us.”
“At least we have the sword and we can get back in. I’m sure Giles is going to want to check it out.”
“Probably. But one thing at a time. We’re going to have to get the film developed when we get back. I can tell you one thing though,” she rolled her head towards Spike, “there’s one hell of a portrait of your ex in there.”
Spike shifted forward a little more, “Dru?”
“Oh yeah. Looking real creepy with a bunch of kids around her and all this blood dripping down. It’s freaky.”
“Well that tracks. She always did have a thing for kids.” His tone was matter of fact, he wasn’t surprised in the slightest.
“Not helping the creep factor here,” Faith groused.
“Anything else?”
Faith adjusted herself on the couch, “Not a clue really. You figure some of those drawings could be almost as old as the cabin. I only know the ones that I either lived through or heard stories about. Like this one that looks like it could be Willow when she went all dark-side, but I couldn’t tell you if that already happened or if she’s going to go dark again.”
Buffy frowned at that, “Will has been doing really well with the magic stuff but this thing with Kennedy—“
“Yeah what’s going on with that bitch anyway?” Faith asked.
“As long as she’s still in Australia and far far away from Willow and my sister, I don’t really care.”
“You better be careful she doesn’t come back round. My sister-in-law had that problem with her ex before my brother. Sort of how they met, actually.”
“I know Giles has connections in Australia; they are supposed to be keeping tabs on her.”
Callum raised his eyebrows and glanced over at Spike, “Probably for the best I take it?”
“Any more trouble out of her and I’ll happily rip her throat out.”
“Never did get that third notch did you?” Faith said.
He smirked, “Oh I got my notch alright. Brought the house down.”
Buffy blushed, “Oh my word, do you have to bring that up?”
“Don’t care what you say, Pet. You don’t forget your first time, especially when we started out on the ground floor and ended up in the basement. God, that was a fun night.”
Callum bit back a laugh, “Now I understand why you laughed at me for breaking the bed.”
“Wow, B, didn’t know you had it in you.”
“How’bout all the furniture I had to replace in my old crypt?” He wiggled his eyebrows at her.
Buffy glared at Spike, “You are—“ Doing this on purpose.
You bet I am, Slayer. Know it’s gonna be a bit before you’re up to anything, got to keep things interesting.
She rolled her eyes at his smirk, “Anyway… enough about our sex-life; what are you two up to tonight?”
“I could definitely use a drink or twelve,” Faith answered.
“Absolutely,” Callum stood, extending his hand towards her, “can I buy you a drink, beautiful?”
She let him pull her up, “You know it.”
Buffy let out a tired sigh, “I have some serious phone calls to make, I guess.”
Faith turned toward her as Callum wrapped an arm around her waist, “You still haven’t checked in with Giles and Willow?”
“No, not yet.”
Faith snorted, “Good luck with that.”
“Gee, thanks.” Buffy pouted a little.
“Giles can wait a bit can’t he?” Spike asked.
She sighed, “Yeah, I won’t be able to get him off the phone if I mention Queenie. I definitely need to call Will and Dawn though. Get her filled in and make sure everything is alright there. Go on, you three go get your drink on, I’ll be phone-call girl.”
Spike leaned forward taking her hand, “Doesn’t seem fair.”
Buffy shrugged a shoulder, “I’m not really feeling the drinks tonight. I’m actually thinking more sleep.”
“Probably do you some good, Love.”
*****
The inn had a small bar at the back of the dining room. The three of them sidled up to the bar, Faith sitting between the two men.
“How is B doing, I mean really?” Faith asked abruptly.
“She’s alright. Don’t think it’s all sunk in just yet.”
Callum raised a finger in the air to get the bartender’s attention, “Could we get a bottle of whiskey and three glasses here?”
“Straight to the point. Can see why you like this one, Doe-eyes,” Spike said as the bartender set down the glasses and retrieved a bottle of whiskey.
“It’s not the only reason but it’s definitely a perk.”
“I bet,” Spike gave a weak chuckle and shook his head, “this little trip has gone a bit sideways, hasn't it?” he added as the bartender set the bottle down in front of them and started to pour.
Callum chuckled darkly and took his glass, “Never a dull moment with you lot, I’ll say that.”
“I’ll drink to that. Cheers, mate.”
“Cheers,” Callum and Faith echoed.
The three of them shot back their drinks and clunked them down onto the bar before Spike refilled them.
“So what now?” Callum asked.
“Probably just finish out our long weekend here and head home. Don’t think Buffy is too keen to head back early and should be just about healed by then.”
“Brilliant. It’ll give me a chance to paint the view.”
Spike snorted into his shot glass.
Callum grabbed the bottle and refilled Spike’s glass, “What’s that? You going to write us a sonnet?”
“Piss off,” he muttered, biting back a grin. He had to admit, it was nice having another guy around he could call a friend.
“Do I need to leave you two creative types alone?” Faith smirked, downing another drink.
“Oh is that what you think?” Callum laughed as he wrapped an arm around her waist, “Cheeky one, you are,” he pulled her into a kiss, delving deep and leaving her breathless.
“Wow,” Faith sounded dazed when she spoke.
Spike downed another shot, “Maybe it’s me that should leave the two of you alone.”
“You’re good. Promise to save it for the bedroom, mate,” he squeezed her to him, “Right darlin’?”
“Might be time for us to turn in.”
“I probably shouldn’t make a night of it anyway. No telling how things are gonna go if Buffy gets into things with Dawn. Bit’s libel to take it badly.” He paused looking at his glass and filled it again, drinking it quickly.
He was more than a little apprehensive about what this all meant for their relationship. On one hand he was overjoyed with the prospect of having her by his side indefinitely but at the same time he worried about how she would handle watching her loved ones grow old and die. He had never really had that problem but he was sure she would.
“Girl can be savage when she wants to be.” Faith commented.
“Got that right,” he downed another shot and slid from his stool slapping some money down, “I’m going to see how she’s faring.”
*****
When Spike got up to their room, Buffy was in her pajamas and sitting up on the bed with her phone in her hand. She glanced up at him when he came in and he immediately noticed her yes were slightly red at the corners.
“Alright, Slayer? You get through to Roam?”
Buffy cleared her throat, “I talked to Willow.”
He strode over to sit with her, watching her intently. “What is it?”
Buffy shook her head, “I hum, I sort of chickened out.”
“You didn’t call?”
Her voice was rough, “I did. I talked to Willow, checked in on the Rome situation with Kennedy being gone. Violet has sort of taken over, who would have thought huh?”
It was clear she was stalling. “Timid little ginger right?”
“Yeah. Turns out she’s kind of a natural leader, just needed a confidence boost.”
Spike nodded, it was always good to have an update but he couldn’t let her change the subject either. “Good for her but what about Red? What’s going on there?”
She twisted her hands together around her phone, still clutching it, “Oh I got her all filled in no problem. Told her everything we know so far and then— I asked to talk to Dawn. Spike, I completely froze. I don’t even know why. I was doing fine and then when I heard her voice—- I just couldn’t tell her what happened. I started babbling about the B&B; what a nice room we have. I sort of tried to push past the freak-out and started to tell her about the cave but then I just made it sound like we went sightseeing or whatever. It was so stupid.”
Spike pulled her into him, letting her rest her head in the crook of his neck. “This hasn’t exactly been a lovely seaside holiday, Pet. Point of fact I’m not surprised in the least. You’ve been through a lot, we all have. You’re so used to just gettin’ right back up no matter what knocks you down like some sodding punch-clown. You’re still human, sweetheart.”
“Am I?” It was almost a whisper.
He had half expected her to say something like this but it still struck him like a kick to the stomach. “Course you are, Love. You’re just a little something extra. Like a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream and a cherry on top.”
Buffy snorted a tiny laugh, “You’re such an idiot.”
“Yeah but you love me so what’s that say about you?”
“As long as we get to be idiots together.”
“Always.”

reasons I have thirsted over every single buffy character at some point in my life (bearing in mind I was 11 when I started watching and 26 now so I’ve been the right age for some characters in the past but nooooot now):
buffy and spike I’m not even going to explain. those two characters, between them, are my bisexuality and my whole romantic identity. separately and together, you have no idea, but particularly together, wow. can’t get into it because this post would be 100k words.
willow - everything in season four where she and Tara were becoming friends and then friends and it was all unspoken and very breathy. dark willow in her military jacket. there weren’t that many moments when I was attracted to willow because I felt deeply that I was willow but there were some.
xander - when I was 11 I felt really bad about buffy turning him down, i felt he deserved better and she should consider him because he was funny. This is something I’ve examined and reconsidered in the last fifteen years.
giles - completely skipped over him as a teen but now, yes. i thought he was like seventy when I was a preteen but I realise the error of my ways. when he rolls his sleeves up.
angel - no one ever kissed me like that in graveyards I’ll tell you that for free.
darla - I stopped writing this post to stare into space and think about Darla’s breathy voice and the fact she woukd definitely kill me.
cordelia - I grew up in britain where there were no cheerleaders and therefore no stereotypical mean cheerleaders making barbed comments standing very close to me. I could have learned some things about myself earlier if I’d considered why that was something I wanted.
jenny - it’s the gently barbed comments about the internet with the flawless 90s hair. I had no teachers like her at the time or since.
oz - I did not give him what he deserved in the show then I started dating someone a lot like him who was just so calm, respectful, good and funny and it opened my eyes to oz. I’ve never read fanfic about oz, he’s not my type on tv, but in the real actual world oz is who I want.
faith - this is tumblr I don’t need to explain.
riley - I did like riley at the beginning of season four particularly! Not so much as a military dude but as a cute TA who has books dropped on his head. Those first few episodes were absolute gold.
anya - anya was portrayed so much as funny rather than sexy on the show but she had so much thirst potential! I don’t think this got converted into reality while I was watching it. I adored anya but more as a friend.
tara - fingers intertwining in hush? falling back on a pillow in a deeply magical way? the last bit of under your spell? anytime spells made tara fall back on a pillow or bed I was there with my urgent little preteen brain.
dawn - as a 12yo I honestly didn’t get why her dressing sexy in Him was that big of a deal because she was about the age of main cast in the first few seasons? I think because at that age she didn’t seem young and powerless to me, she was still older than me and s7 dawn was just very powerful and cool.
robin wood - again not til I rewatched as a grownup but now I have watched as a grownup I am absolutely on board with a passionate education professional with a sense of humour and a dark past. he suffers from being so directly contrasted against spike in first date but in any and all other circumstances, yes to robin wood.
characters I have never thirsted for and my provisional reasons:
the master - not a lot to get on board with here kinda just a priest in an odd outfit with fruit punch mouth.
drusilla - I love her as a character and she is very beautiful but I think she was a bit odd for me? I find her poignant and that interferes with me finding her attractive
harmony - harmony was always standing right next to people I had much stronger feelings for
joyce - I think it’s the hair. even tho I’m probably old enough now to date joyce and it not be creepy (?) the mum hair means she will always be my mum. that’s my mum right there.
most villains? - mayor, adam, glory, caleb. I know some people fancy glory and she is very beautiful but buffy was right there being powerful and blonde.
the trio - this is just not allowed, obviously. I do find tom lenk funny in the post buffy world tho. I’d get lunch with him, but that’s v different to fancying andrew.
all the potentials - eh

hello and how are you?
we are here to give you some love back! :D
10 | 13 | 29 | 32 | 37 | 46
Also Known As: The Not Yet Dead Author @365runesofwriting
Holy hell that's a few questions. Hey Rune, I'm doing well - how are you??
"10. Do you set yourself deadlines?"
Yes, yes I do. For example, I plan on finishing Serpents' first draft by the end of December. It's a great way to keep myself on pace and motivated. Gotta be particularly hard on myself on that front :P
"13. Describe your writing process from idea to polished"
Oh boy. Okay, buckle in
Step 1 - get idea, usually in a situation where I can't write it down bc my Muse hates me
Step 2 - remember idea six months later if it's any good, write it down in story ideas doc
Step 3 - Two years later, scroll through list of story ideas when I finish a project and go "yes! this one! this one fits my brain worms and will for the next six or so months!"
Step 4 - buy twelve six-packs of Fanta
Step 5 - spend three all-nighters obsessively researching and coming up with characters
Step 6 - spend a week outlining and forget all my adult responsibilities
Step 7 - take a few days off when i remember i have an adult life, realize the characters don't like the plot i've outlined and re-write it
Step 8 - give up on perfecting the outline out of impatience and start writing the first draft
Step 9 - don't see the sun for six months
Step 9.5 - realize the characters still don't like plot and resort to improvising as they go off my carefully-planned rails, having to constantly adjust the plot on the fly as they do batshit insane nonsense
Step 10 - Finish a first draft. Go and write something else, take a few months off
Step 11 - thebrainwormsarenesting.jpeg
Step 12 - come back with an "objective" perspective and go through editing, sometimes rewriting the whole damn thing if my characters are still bitchy
Step 13 - rinse and repeat until I reach the third or fourth draft and decide it's completed to my satisfaction (it's not - but if i don't lie to myself I'll never stop)
Step 14 - go "that was the worst thing I've ever experienced, I'm never doing that again"
Step 15 - get reminded of one of my story ideas three days later and the cycle begins anew
"29. Favourite villain"
Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, though he kinda had a redemption arc. For someone who had a CORRUPTION arc, see Jinx from Arcane.
(Yes I did two, shush)
"32. Most difficult character to write"
Badb, because she's way smarter than I am and having to come up with a bunch of ludicrous machinations and 4d chess plays that actually makes sense is absurdly difficult. The girl needs to calm the hell down
"37. First sentence of your current WIP"
"O Muse, voice of Melpomene, she whom deals in tragedy and loss… shine thine weeping eyes towards those serpents sequestered; reveal to me a love written in blood, and hide not from me the deepest depravities of broken beasts; let this vilified vessel lighten the deceitful burden that buried them."
(Yes, I quite literally did an ode to a Muse in the style of Odyssey and Illiad for Serpents)
"46. Do you reread your own stories?"
Sometimes on accident. I'll go back to edit some tiny thing, or I'll go back to fact-check something for a convo, and then I'll sit there for an hour re-reading the whole thing. I don't do it on purpose, but it is very nice to know the stories are engrossing, bc they sure do fucking ensnare me every time
Thanks for the asks!

Happy 7th Birthday Legends
Although this is about the Legends, I can’t start this post without The Flash. I didn’t watch Arrow to begin with (too dark and brooding for my taste) so my journey in the Arrowverse started in 2014 with the Flash. I fell in love with the show instantly, the humour, the mystery, the characters. But my focus today is on the legends, so let’s start with the first ones I met.
The Legends
Snart and Rory, the duo, were always a delight to see in an episode of the flash. Beginning with Flash 1x04 and following their character arc you can see there is more to them than meets the eye and that they aren’t bad people just criminals. Snart was one of my favourite characters on the Flash.
In Flash 1x08 I am introduced to some Arrow characters for the first time (but not Sara because she’s dead 🥺), and we first meet Firestorm (1.0). I love Robbie, instant fangirl, but he isn’t a legend so let’s keep going. Martin Stein’s disappearance is one of the many mysteries that S1 Flash is unraveling. The strange merging to become firestorm was such a cool story. I'm a Victor Garber fan and a big lover of scientist characters so obviously loved him in this role.
I started watching Arrow when the crossover of The Flash happened 1x08 / 3x08 so Sara was dead at the time and the main arc in Arrow was about her murder but I didn’t really care too much at the time. So we will circle back to her in a minute.
I first saw Ray in Arrow 3x9. His storyline is blurry, I remember him and Felicity were a couple and that I loved when he was a dorky little goofball but Arrow is too dark and brooding for that most of the time.
Anyway… back to Sara. I love S4 of Arrow. It's my favourite season of arrow hands down no contest, Damien Darhk is the best. This is finally where I meet Sara for the first time. The Buffy fan in me was LIVING for the resurrection storyline culminating in John Constantine restoring her soul. It’s just chefs kiss.
Kendra starts out as a small character in Flash 1x23, but it was clear to be building to something. She doesn’t stand out but the entire point of her character is that she thinks she’s just a regular person until it’s revealed she isn’t.
The final Legend to be introduced before the series is Jax in The Flash 2x04 and I’m honestly sad because I love Robbie and it feels too convenient that Stein can just merge with someone else. I go on to adore him but that’s how I felt in the beginning.
The Crossover
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Flash 2x08 Legends of Today and Arrow 4x08 Legends of Yesterday make up the 2 part crossover Heroes Join Forces and serve as a set up for Legends of Tomorrow. We get our first taste of the story arc for Legends, the introduction of Vandal Savage and the Hawks. Carter exposition dump is everything, I absolutely love the Hawks story: ancient Egypt, soulmates, deathless villain, resurrections, I eat that shit up. So I enjoyed the hell out of these episodes. The wing reveal was iconic, sure it’s very tropey but so good. The flashbacks give me Mummy vibes, I loved it so much. Time travel🙌. Seriously though, I love these episodes.
Legends of Tomorrow
Tumblr media
The Legends of Tomorrow pilot lived up to my hype, I knew and loved these characters and time travel is my favourite sci-fi concept. I was most excited for more Snart and I just love a good ragtag team up. Reading the synopsis while I type, oh yeah, I was super pissed at Stein - seriously wtf he drugged Jax. Rip’s agenda - like I get it mate but you still kinda suck. It was clear the show had potential and the characters (and actors) had good chemistry, despite them only just getting to know each other and becoming teammates, plus time travel is just soo fun.
A wobbly first season that I still enjoyed the entire time, While by no means as good as the show ended up being, a start. It wasn’t my favourite Arrowverse show that year but it wasn’t my least favourite and some weeks it was the best episode of the week. An incredible journey from that beginning to becoming not just my favourite Arrowverse show but one of my all time favourite shows. The show went from mediocre with potential to great in the second season and then outstanding in its 3rd and then somehow each season after was it still better than the last.
Bring them back.

For the salty ask list, #8, #9, #17
Hi! You didn't specify a fandom, so I'll stick to the Buffyverse to be safe!
8. Have you received anon hate? What about?*
Many times! Sometimes when I share a particularly "hot take", I get asks disagreeing with me and not very politely. I can't even remember them tbh but they insult my intelligence, I guess? Or my character? Dunno, they don't get to me at all. Sometimes hate asks are followed by asks expressing support for me, so.... <3
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
Spike? Honestly, he's not the character I've ever hated the most, I just don't like him. It's not that he's an asshole, though he is, but it's that in keeping him around the show became increasingly more absurd and morally compromised (!= morally grey!!!) - tbh, it happened with Anya (and Andrew) to an extent as well, though I like her. I think the writing for Spike could be really stupid - I still don't get what the fuck the chip was supposed to be -, and I grew bored of him in seasons 6 and 7. It's weird to think that Dawn and Joyce became friends with a remorseless killer and that a teenage girl was allowed to hang out with a grown-ass man with a body count who, unlike Angel, didn't actually regret killing people. Spike fucks up the soul canon too, which was never solid to begin with. And I really dislike him in season 7, in particular, when he's supposed to be a "good guy" yet shows no compassion to anyone but Buffy, whom he isolates and guilt-trips into depending on him.
This is petty, but I also kinda dislike how everyone likes him, lmao. It's gets annoying sometimes... But, seriously, I can't forgive the Angel writers for giving him a role in season 5. Angel was supposed to be a Spike-free safe zone for me...
There are tons of characters I dislike. I can't even name them all! I guess one is enough, right?
17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
Writing fanfiction is not my thing, I am not creative! But building off of what I said, I think the chip storyline was nonsense, particularly when it fucked with the soul canon. Perhaps the writers should've gotten rid of it back in season 4, or at least in season 5 - they kept it way too long, but I guess they had no other way of making Spike an honorary Scoobie. Also, I would not have had Spike in season 5 of Angel. Cordelia deserved to be in the last season. Fuck Joss Whedon.
Moving on to more important things, the dumbification of Angel post-Epiphany and up to season 4 is my least favorite part of Angel. As someone who loves Angel (the character), with all her heart, he became a stranger to me. Angel's so insanely OOC in the late half of season 2 and in season 3 that I just pretend most of those episodes don't exist. I don't care for any post-Epiphany season 2 episode. The writers really blew what would otherwise have been a perfect season - TV excellence. The complete and abrupt shift in tone, the lackluster conclusion to Darla's arc, the absolute mess they did of wrapping up Angel's arc (he went from dark to hyper in an episode and all nuance was lost), the filler episodes like Disharmony and the weird Pylea arc, etc. - all of it was so disappointing and sloppy on the writers part; it's like they gave up on the storyline instead of seeing it through. Still, Angel himself was the most disappointing of all. His descent into madness and darkness had been so horrifying to watch - so shocking and fascinating, yet relatable and human-, but the writers just had to fuck it all up when they didn't allow him to "revert" back to himself, to redeem himself and grow from his mistakes, naturally. He should've grappled more with what he'd done, and struggled more to readjust to society. He should've fought harder to regain his friends' trust and his place in Angel's Investigations. He should've spent more time reflecting on the choices and beliefs that led him to betraying himself and losing faith in his future. He should've struggled to reconcile his past with what he'd learned and knew he needed to do in the future. The way Angel perceived himself, humanity and redemption changed and that's no small thing. Growth isn't linear - there are many ups and downs, yet Angel faced very few obstacles after his great epiphany. The dynamics between the A.I gang completely changed too when he went off the rails and it would've been interesting to explore that more, to bring Angel back into the fold slower - I cannot stand dumb Angel buying Cordelia clothes and acting goofy. Sadly, in season 3, we get even more goofy Angel. That's why I try to forget season 3 existed with the exceptions of Heartthrob, the Darla arc, and most episodes post-Loyalty (excluding Tomorrow). Thank fuck for season 4 - it turned Angel back into an interesting character at least. Oh, and this probably goes without saying, but I never would've made Cangel a thing at all. Considering Wesley's decision to kidnap Connor mid-season 3, they should've explored his and Angel's friendship more, as well as his friendship with Cordelia.
Anyway, I said more than I thought I would. (Don't I always?) Thanks for the ask!!

OKfirst off. heads fallen off tonight im so out of it so this will make no sense<3 IRONIC
but for real HELP. i think "crew is not in their right minds" plots can be really hit or miss- like... i say that in a very general sense of the trope, if that makes sense? basically anything where their behaviour is greatly altered by some outside force and they "act weirdly" including, sometimes, possession and the such
because i think when its done wrongly it can sort of be... just really unconstructive? i dont know if that makes sense, per se. because the further you get from your characters, the more detached it is: less consequences; less exploration; less attachment to all of it. like i do think it always needs to be a reflection of something and not just spouting silliness.
theres for suuree some trek examples im thinking of BUT. i actually think buffy always did really good episodes where characters got had their memory/perception of reality severely altered to the point where they were all TOTALLY acting out of character but it was still a commentary on them as individuals. like tabula rasa. i swear theres others (i know there's one in angel too, but yeah)
and obviousssllyyyy this wasnt as, like, as a defined separation in perceptions and thus behaviours but MORESO something akin to like. the naked time or something where its intentionally left a bit more vague, just that theyre all sort of slightly acting out of it and-
THE THING IS
WHAT MAKES THE EPISODE I FEEL LIKE
IS I FEEL LIKE ACTORS AND WHOEVER HAS THE SCRIPT IS HAVING THE TIME OF THEIR FUCKING LIFE WITH THIS ONE...HELP...
AND YOU KNO WHAT...T HE THING IS. at some point i just gotta rate it, man. i DO.
but also like- as i was saying... even STILL. i do think this kinda does still signify the cracks in the team for suresies, even if it was a mad exaggeration. because they have come a long, long way- BUT what i always appreciated was the fact that they really took their time with it, and at the beginning - that is, the beginning of the entire show, not this episode - they werent afraid to show how dysfunctional they were as a unit... like i said a few times... they didnt shy away from making their characters do dickhead things bc it just. literally would make sense for them to be dickheads in the beginning. and what i also liked was the way they built from that slowly and organically. and i think part of tht then means ir skinda like... theres stillll going to be that inherent. underlying messiness
and im also frowning at crichton
im a little concernedfor crichton. my friend crichton.
is crichton going to be quite well
because- LIKE... they said he was the least affected. bc he has the worst eyesight. BUT he did kind of- in my opinion- seem the most. you know. unhinged by far. AND he was having those visual hallucinations which none of the others did. and maybe its just visual flair, having scorpy there; maybe its just inconsistencies, or humans lacking a mental fortitude... BUT GUYSSSS I WAS LIKE
UP UNTIL HE STARTED BEING LIKE. ABSOLUTELY UNHINGED. which uh there is one thing i will say. LIKE i thought maybe he was totally unaffected (either by "his human biology" - or something of the sort) and this was just genuinely him snapping - and theyd "fix" whatever the issue was, and he'd still be riled up as all hell, in a classic farscape subvert subvert moment. AND I MEAN THATS NOT THE CASE- AND IM HAPPY ITS NOT- BUT MY POINT IS...
I DONT KNOW. maybe its bc i enjoyed the episode and i dont thinkits just an insane little detour as much fun as it is. somethings up here. crichton baby speak 2 me
but YEAH THATS- thats oneee part i didnt like so much. the bit with chiana. did not rate that. i think 90s shows... YES obviously it was meant to come off badly, and its not like he did anything, and like i said- im usually happy when they arent afraid to have their characters be awful. BUT. that one scene was really pushing it in a way i dont really like. mostly just because it did kinda teeter a bit too much towards shock value and kinda just bc- again, with shows in this era, i know its just... theyre never sooo careful about that kinda thing. trek had its issues (tng, mostly).. and buffy had so fucking many your head would explode. so i dont knock it as much but yeah
ANYWAYS
margarita shooters is stuckinmy head but also crichtons little ice cream thing help-
AND THE NUMBER OF TIMES
RYGEL SAID
BITCH
STOP IT WHY IS IT SO FUNNY WHEN HE SAYS BITCH IT MAKES ME JUMP FOR SOME REASON BECAUSE. i think because they say frell the rest of the time and bitch. im sorry its such a funny fucking word to me SORRY i just LAUHG LIKE. YOU BITCH. HELP. HE'S LIKE 2 MOLECULES TALL TOO LIKE PLEASE

My personal ranking of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer couples
