why’d he look at him like this. they’re sitting in the car not talking about anything important. why’d he do this.

ok i think this is maybe like his “oh” moment. because right before this gus is absolutely elated when they find out katarina is the murderer. because that means shawn won’t be dating her anymore. like he’s just smiling and relaxing in the car. and then shawn asks him to go inside the thrift store and get the bag. and of course gus protests at first, but then shawn explains that it’s safe and he needs this. and then gus looks at him like this. like “oh. this is it. i’m always going to give into him. i’m always going to do whatever he wants - whatever makes him happy. because i’ve fallen hard and fast and deep, and i don’t think there’s a way out. and i don’t know if i want one.”

because in every other scene in the entire rest of the series where gus eventually gives into shawn for whatever, he’s always just annoyed. he just rolls his eyes and does it. but here, this, this is something different. gus looks at him like this, and then 5 seconds later, we get the usual Annoyed Gus look.

i don’t know. i can’t really explain it. but something about this scene is different. it’s like gus is realizing what the next part of his life is going to be - trying desperately, and failing, to fall out of love with his best friend.
