iwtv’s pilot was absolutely amazing and i cannot believe that was just the first episode.
#tbh the movie genuinely isn't my favorite#i think because so much of the queer content was cut from the movie and that sort of makes a lot of the movie not make sense?#or at least not have the same impact as the 2022 tv series where louis is made so much more enticing and intriguing as a character#(there are also many other factors to that including making him a black businessman in new orleans in the 1910s#in a very shaky position where he has some of the benefits of being an upperclass man while still being first and foremost a black man#in a racist society)#and adding his queer repression just makes him so much more layered and realized???#this whole show so far is just more layered#we're actually seeing more of new orleans from the eyes of the marginalized and that's just plain more interesting#than two french white men going to new orleans and primarily interacting with the uppercrust#THIS SHOW IS AMAZING#i am going to be so disappointed if the rest of the season falls flat#but really so far i can't see that happening#the writing is tight#the performances are amazing (especially from jacob anderson that scene in the confessional where he was shaking with rage but not quite#yelling??? absolutely divine i need some awards recognition for him)#and all of the updates and changes they've done to the story so far just add so very very much#sorry to just go on a complete ramble about this show but i think this pilot was impeccable and like i said on another post#this is absolutely the best pilot episode i have ever seen#this is giving me everything the movie did not

I know there’s a lot of debate about whether Malleus could ever actually be with someone like Yuu, considering he is a fae and prince, but the more I think about it the more it feels plausible. While there’s most likely never going to be any canon romances in the game, I think it’s an interesting discussion. Keep in mind this is just my opinion!
We know about the fae-human war that occurred in Briar Valley before Malleus was born (the one that Lilia fought in). Lilia has talked before about wanting there to be peace and understanding between humans and fae.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, what would be a better way to do this than uniting the two groups through a royal marriage between a human and a fae? Irl, this kind of marriage does have historical precedent. This union allows both parties to come together and witness specifically the ruler of their nation forgo any prejudice for the other group by sharing this deeply personal relationship.
Even though a lot of fae may look down upon humans and vice versa (probably similar attitudes to Sebek), if the King of Briar Valley were to marry a human, it would facilitate both political and social change amongst both groups. Families and relationships like Sebek’s parents (human-fae) would probably become much more common and socially-acceptable
Furthermore, the next royal heir would be of both fae and human descent, making them more appealing to both parties (aside from those who would remain prejudiced against half-fae like Sebek).
Lilia speaks of how a constant inability to compromise led to such conflict as the war. Marriage is pretty much the ultimate compromise to tie the two groups together. There will be incentive for both human and fae to support the royals of Briar Valley. The political change would hopefully be having everyone be allies, of this being the thing that makes them actually sit down and have political discussions instead of going straight to war. This would hopefully only facilitate more compromise and unity between the two factions, with them being able to support each other with resources and trade, for example.
The catch is that some of these benefits would likely only apply if the human Malleus married was chosen by the humans in Briar Valley who previously fought against the crown/fae. This is difficult because (as of now) we don’t have much knowledge of any such powerful (human) political opponent groups, or if they even exist after the war.
I think it would still generally be beneficial for him to marry a human (probably one of another kingdom I suppose is another solution). Marrying Yuu specifically may be difficult because of them being of ‘low-birth’ in the eyes of snobbish royals (it seems like Briar Valley is still a feudalist society) and being magicless, but I’m not sure those things are deal breakers.
Another problem that arises is the difference in lifespan, but (and this might be cope) but I like to think the Draconia family would have access to something that would make extending an otherwise healthy person’s life possible (whether magic, magical artifacts, etc.).
I honestly doubt Malleus’ grandmother would really deny him the choice of who he marries after everything that’s happened in his life. Also just like…realistically, who’s going to stop him? Malleus will be King and he also has his magic to back him up, so it’s not like any advisors can say no and his grandmother doesn’t have any other family members so she can’t threaten to disinherit him.
Plus, I don’t think there’s evidence to say that he would necessarily be forced to have a very specifically arranged marriage with any other kingdoms right now. I doubt Malleus is down to marry any of the other powerful royals or families (Leona, Kalim, etc.).
So it’s not really like he’s necessarily making a fatal mistake in ruling by not gaining an essential alliance through marriage. Sure, he probably couldn’t marry just anyone, but I think there is a case to be made for him marrying a human (and perhaps Yuu in some alternate timeline where twst is a dating sim).

Tw: blood
Tumblr media
...it was supposed to be a comic, but a lot went wrong, so..keep this little description:
Sticky, warm blood spread across his chest, trying to hide the terrible wounds left by the cold metal. The eyelids grew heavy, and the boundless darkness crept up to forever take the knight into his silent realm of death. "Ambrosius...I'm...sorry."
Hands gently but tightly wrapped around his body. "Shh, it's okay, it's okay"
Oh, that voice. So dear to him voice now repeated these words with pain like a mantra, as if it could change something. But breathing became harder and harder every moment. “Oh no no no no don’t leave me. Bal, please don't leave me alone!"
Now it was like a prayer. A prayer that heavens will never hear. But the knight in dark armor heed this prayer. And hundreds of thoughts and words that he would like to say ran through his mind. And then everything went quiet. And he plunged into darkness.
I have to say that I am not a writer, so the structure of the text and the words may seem strange. Sorry~
Anyway, I would like to share with you the context of what is going on here and why!
I thought that, as in all existing societies, there will always be those who are against changes. It so happened historically that not all people are ready for changes, because changes are always scary. And, of course, no matter how heartbreaking the scene with Nimona is, you can never get the respect of the entire kingdom. Especially the elite, which can lose control. Since Ambrosius remained the only "main" person of the kingdom, he did the main work of changing people's minds. And that part of the elite that was against it, saw it as a conspiracy. Allegedly, Ambrosius did this not for the benefit of society, but for the benefit of his partner. Therefore, the ranks of the conspirators grew and became stronger. And when they gathered enough strength, the uprisings/resistance to new arrangements and power began.
And it is in one of the clashes with these conspirators that Ballister is mortally wounded...or not?
Yes, yes, you understood correctly, I have two endings. Of course.
Anyway, I find this concept more interesting, as it brings me a little closer to political things, making things darker and therefore more interesting. After all, what is happiness worth if you don’t have to fight for it?
▪︎
▪︎
Oh...I don't think I want to write about how difficult it was to draw all this...just say i'm glad I finished it.
Thank you for your attention
See ya~

how do you feel about march eridan?
Ok disclaimer before I get into it, trolls wearing dresses = great and fantastic; in fact, given that the gender differences in troll culture are so much less significant, ALL the male trolls should own some femme-ass clothes, even if it's as simple as just having a skirt version of their pants, and it's a little lame that we didn't get that.
That said, March Eridan specifically kind of annoys me because it has 0 basis in canon (aside from some shoutouts in things like ministrife sprites) but has taken over Eridan discussions so wholly that it's become widely accepted as part of his character that he's really into femme stuff when the opposite is true, and he's got some pretty major characterization tied up in the fact that he does lean so masc, and what specific type of masc he tends to present as.
So first of all, Eridan dresses up to emulate Dualscar, and this is very obvious and straightforward; if you've read the big essay I have pinned to my blog, you know that this is all a part of his basic "I have to be a big bad sea dweller or Something Bad Will Happen" suite of issues.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thus, we can ALSO assume that the choices he made that aren't made to emulate Dualscar are reflective of his ACTUAL taste in clothing. For example, blue pants instead of purple and black - I believe that this is because Eridan likes to dress up in the blood colors of his dates; he wears a lot of blue because he's hatedating Vriska (and never quite seems to get 100% over her), and we also see this in the rings on his fingers - half of which are fuchsia, for Feferi.
Tumblr media
So that leaves us with the glasses, shoes, and scarf. And we know why he dresses like that! It's because he's a hipster. (The scarf has an added benefit of being associated with harry potter-style wizards).
CCG: PAST YOU, PRESENT YOU, FUTURE YOU CCG: AND ABOVE ALL, UGLY SCARFNECKED DOUCHEBAG HIPSTER YOU CCG: WAIT I FORGOT, ALL OF THE YOUS ARE THAT YOU
And very specifically, a masc hipster from the era - the glasses and the ugly-ass shoes are dead giveaways. The slicked-back hair is reminiscent of that fashion style, too. He is also a douchebag. This too is important. He draws from character archetypes of the time that were generally agreed upon to be the most punchable people in existence; his introduction calls him "KIND OF A TOOL" and he consistently acts according to that. Like, I mean, just LOOK at those shades. Those are not the shades of somebody you want to be trapped in a conversation with.
A fairly accurate Eridan fashion board would look something like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, like, it kind of matters that he dresses like this specific breed of pretentious male douchebag; on a meta level, that's the impression he's supposed to give the audience, and on a diegetic level, he CHOOSES to look like this because he has these kinds of interests, but is relegating them to secondary accessories.
We never hear him talk about liking hipster shit; we have to hear it from Karkat and glean it from his design. This is because, as I've talked about before, he actively distances himself from things that make him happy, things that he'd enjoy. The constant push-pull between his ACTUAL interests, and the ones he thinks he has to have because he's supposed to be a big nasty sea dweller, is a huge part of his characterization - for example, the way he keeps claiming that magic and wizards are fake and shitty, but has no less than 6 wizard statues in his respiteblock alone, and cared about his crappy wands enough to bring them onto the meteor.
So that's one of my other issues with March Eridan and the general fanon that he'd be really into femme clothes (and, by extension, fashion) - he wouldn't be forthcoming about it, even if it was true. He has a deep sense of shame and insecurity surrounding what few interests he actually has, because they feel stupid, ridiculous, and frivolous, next to the intense anxiety he has about playing the role society gave him. He's got a very strong sense of duty that makes it very difficult for him to relax and actually enjoy something. Which, you know, probably feeds into his hipster-ness - a movement often defined more by what it doesn't approve of than what it does.
Canon Eridan, when he has a choice of what to wear, overwhelmingly chooses masculine clothing with hipster connotations. And this matters, it's part of his characterization, it says something about him, the same way that it's important that Karkat dresses very simply and baggily (we all know how many insecurities Karkat has about his body) or that Sollux's bifurcation is shown in his clothes. So please please please don't misunderstand my dislike of March Eridan as me saying I don't want him in dresses; I purely dislike it because it's usually SUCH a misread of his character.
And to prove it, here's my other gripe with March Eridan stuff: all the dresses shown in the not-canon "official" artworks don't even flatter his bodytype. Why do his custom mannequins in Pesterquest have CURVES when his Pesterquest sprite doesn't?????
Tumblr media
Please, I'm begging you, there are guides for dressing this body type, and even historical fashions that deliberately try to emulate this body type, please if you're going to dress him femme and HC that he enjoys fashion, please put him in clothes that flatter him please
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think Eridan should own some femme clothes, because on Alternia, there are very few differences between the genders, he's rich enough to afford it, and he clearly has more of an interest in fashion in general - but I think the fact that he has a clear canon preference for masculine styles is significant, and I'm really annoying, so it kind of does bothers me that this is a controversial opinion. That being said, I don't want to tell people what they Should and Should Not do, because that's lame. Who cares. He's a fictional character, let people draw him in dresses. Would be very happy if this post causes people to draw him in different styles of dresses though

It is within every woman's interest that separatism exists the same way it is within every woman's interest that divorce and abortion laws exist--even if you plan to marry a man and have children with him, divorce and abortion laws still serve you because they give you an extra layer of protection and security in the relationship.
You can enter your marriage and motherhood knowing that you're not forced to be there; you can enter them knowing that if your husband ever hurts you, you can leave him. If your pregnancy ever risks your life, you can terminate it.
This not only gives you a peace of mind, but it also transforms the attitude men have toward marriage and children. Indeed, abuse is most rampant in places where women cannot divorce or terminate pregnancies because men know there's little risk for committing abuse (she can't leave him) and high reward (she has to bear his children). Of course, abuse still happens in places with divorce and abortion laws--but it's less rampant.
Likewise, the existence of female separatism acts as insurance to het-partnered women. Even if you never need to make use of your insurance, the fact that it exists gives you the confidence to know that you never have to depend on a man--if you want a female doctor, electrician, mechanic, lawyer, etc, you will always be able to easily find one (assuming female separatism is possible in your society). And if things go wrong in your relationship, you will be more able to leave the relationship without fear of severe social or financial repercussion.
Indeed, the existence of female separatism would imply that women have gained enough control of resources in a society to live comfortably without ever having to interact with a man. It then follows that a woman in this society would not face severe social and financial repercussion for leaving a relationship with a man. The existence of female separatism also alerts men that the risk of committing abuse is even higher than before, ultimately lowering the chance of abuse to take place.
When I see women mock female separatism because they plan to partner with men, I think of those women who mock no-fault divorce and abortion laws because they planned to stay married and have children.
You can be an ally to female separatism without being a female separatist. You can recognize how you benefit from having a safety net without ever having to actually use it. The core principle of female separatism ultimately benefits all women, including those who will never be separatists.

Analysis on aizen's goals and motivations + why he actually lost
Tumblr media
Since bleach cour 3 is coming out so much later, I thought I should do an analysis on aizen, mainly focusing on his goals and motivations.
So one thing that is made abundantly clear is that aizen's whole reason for going to war with the gotei 13:
1. Change the world that is built on treachery and lies
2. By overthrowing the soul King and become God itself so he can rebuilt it in his image.
“That's an argument only a loser would make! A victor should speak on how the world should be, rather than how it currently operates. I refuse to accept the world ruled by that thing! I am a victor, I shall decide how the world should be! ”
Don't think I have to do a word for word analysis on what Aizen meant here. But what's interesting is how aizen referred to the “soul king” as THAT thing, as if his disgusted and we all know from cfyow how the soul king was betrayed and mutilated by the 5 nobles and used as some linchpin because they were terrified of his power. The 5 nobles then went on the rebuild the world in their image. And when they “rebuild it in their image”, they were actually rebuilding a world that would benefit ONLY them.
And we see how this image they built turned out: the current soul society.
Tumblr media
Soul Society is a very shitty place to live in if I'm being honest, and I'm pretty sure someone as smart as Aizen would have noticed this. I always headcanon him as someone who lived in the Rukongai District, so he would naturally see first hand on how the world operates.
Aizen does not have a backstory, but I'm certain that something tragic must have happened in his past for him to be SO motivated to change this world. I'm sure Aizen did not suddenly want to become a God when he was first born (as funny that would be). He took on that role because
1. He had the power to do so and
2. No one wanted to
Aizen's "loser" speech was directed to Kisuke telling him how he despised him for not taking action despite his intellect. Which is why I think Aizen isn't really a egotistical man per say who wants to overthrow God because he believes he is superior. If God was doing his job and making life after death a “true paradise” instead of “a hell hole”, Aizen would have never tried overthrowing him.
And this is also why I don't think Aizen would have mind if someone else such as Kisuke became the soul king. Just as long, they had the intellect and power to change this horrible world. But since no one could see what he can see, Aizen took on the manter to change the world as he had the power and intellect to do so.
Now we all know what aizen's main goal and motivation was: to change this stagnant and shitty world that only existed to benefit the 5 nobles.
Now we move into another goal and desire that is a bit personal. Something that was locked away in Aizen's heart. Something that can only be found if you are on equal footing with him and can feel his sword.
the goal to find an equal.
this was stated clearly by Ichigo when he said, “perhaps he has been searching all this time for someone to regard as his equal” now I don't think kubo would dedicate 2 pages of Ichigo talking about Aizen's loneliness just for it to be simply “Ichigo assumption” I think this was Kubo's way of telling us readers this was how Aizen was truely feeling deep down.
Now, what exactly did Ichigo meant by equal? Did he mean in terms of strength? Well, we have yamamoto for that. How about in terms of intellect? Kisuke has the same kind of knowledge Aizen has. How about a combination? Is there actually anyone who is both smart and strong? nope it's just Aizen.
Then why do people say Ichigo was the only one who Aizen regarded as an equal? Ichigo definitely does not see eye to eye with Aizen's idealogy. Ichigo is strong yes, but that can't be the only thing considered to be “Aizen's equal”.
What is considered being “Aizen's equal” is the ability to understand him as a person and also understand the burden of his strength (really reminds me of gojo)
But you see, at the end of the day, Aizen has not find that equal. Ichigo is not that equal, he can never understand Aizen. He has no idea of his past and had no idea of what exactly pushed him to the edge. He can only understand more aspects of him than the other soul repears. And that is just very.... depressing. I truly think the only reason why Ichigo prolonged that battle, was so he could understand Aizen more. But he gave up when Aizen kept evolving and remembered why he came here.
Why did Aizen actually lose?
Tumblr media
First let's mention about the traitor trio relationship.
First we have Tosen, the one Aizen killed.
Toswn served Aizen even before he became a shinigami. He saw the corruption of the Soul Society and believed that Aizen is the only one who can remake it to a better world. But where is he now? Oh that's right, gone.
In cfyow vol 3, page 370-375, the author described aizen and tosen relationship as “close” very bold choice of words given the fact we barely see Aizen being “close” to anyone. But this is backup with evidence:
1. Aizen able to sense the soul of Kaname vanishing, and then the author went on to say, "the soul of the man with whom he shared a destined relationship with; the man who was his confident"
2. Aizen respecting Tosen's wish to be killed if he ever started to accept the world of the shinigamis
3. Aizen telling himself, “sometimes, fear is necessary for evolution” when Tosen asked aizen to kill him.
I think Aizen truly did care for Kaname in his own way and not just use him as a means/tool. He formed a genuine bond with him though I wouldn't go to an extend and say he was an equal. As the only thing he saw eye to eye with Aizen was the state of the world.
And next, we have Gin the one who betrayed him. I believe Aizen knew deep down Gin was going to betray him but kept him around out of curiosity, and he wasn't bullshiting his way. But what I want to talk about is this panel of aizen after killing Gin and seeing everyone around him suffering. He looks... sad???
But why? Does that mean deep down in his heart, Aizen cared for Gin? I mean looking back Gin was a child prodigy something Aizen could probably relate to (as Aizen was also born with exceptional talent and strength)
Tumblr media
I think this is the moment where Aizen was slowly beginning to have the desire to lose. He lost thr espada and the only 2 confidents he somewhat cared for. He truely has to stand above the heavens alone. But Ichigo pulled up and obviously Aizen has to put on the facade of “i'm stronger than you”
now, let's move on to the fight
“Let's do this Aizen real quick. It will be over”
Tumblr media
But then, when they clash swords, he feels Aizen's sword and the loneliness coming out from it, it probably made Ichigo curious. This was not the Aizen he faced before, the Aizen he faced was confident and showed no signs of "loneliness".
Ichigo says this but goes on to prolongs the battle and keeps asking Aizen a bunch of questions. You can see it as Ichigo flexing on Aizen but I think Ichigo truely wanted to end this battle quick by all means necessary.
Tumblr media
This isn't Ichigo flexing, this is Ichigo trying to understand Aizen. But I guess since he spend so much time in the dangai, he probably cannot properly ask aizen like how he would normally do in his battles.
Asking him questions that Aizen asked him before as he thinks this Aizen would be feeling the same thing ichigo did when he first faced aizen. Trying to relate to him and overpower him to tell Aizen, “hey i'm stronger than you, you arent the only one with overwhelming strength in this world”. Trying to relate to Aizen.
Obviously, this doesn't work, and Aizen gets angry and transforms into monster aizen.
Tumblr media
Ichigo is confused and looks so sad, his probably thinking, "I don't get it. Why is he doing this? Doesn't he hate his strength? Shouldn't he feel better knowing that there is someone else as strong as him? Dosent he want to lose?"
“I see, so you cannot allow it, hogyoku. You can't forgive me...”
this was the beginning of Aizen's downfall: relying too much on the hogyoku. Aizen talks to the hogyoku as if a shinigami talks to its zanpakuto. The more he bonded with it, the more the hogyoku forged a relationship with him and read deeper into his heart.
Tumblr media
Monster Aizen managed to damage Ichigo and I guess since he realised that lives were at stake here, he gives up trying to understand Aizen and ends it. You can see the look Ichigo gives to Aizen's “dead” body and his reaction when he found out he was still alive.
Tumblr media
“Hogyoku has determined I no longer need a Zanpakuto!”
Once again, Aizen relies on the Hogyoku rather than his own zanpakuto. His zanpakuto is not disappearing because he has become more powerful. it's because he himself has replaced it with a new weapon.
And once that was done, the Hogyoku managed to bond with Aizen more, and it read deeper into his heart and ultimately saw what his true desire was. The desire to be normal so he can relate to others. So the Hogyoku granted Aizen his wish.
In the end, Aizen lost because he himself does not understand what he truely wants: to be a god or to connect with others. In contrast to Ichigo who has fully accepted himself.
*btw I believe aizen did lose his zanpakuto here, but during the events before tybw, well he did alot of reflection with himself and his zanpakuto spirit and thus, he got back his powers which is probably why he didn't know who yhwach was seeing when he was fighting him
TYBW
In tybw we see Aizen back again, even more stronger than before as stated by urahara and it also seems he has kyoka suigetsu's power back again.
And from what we can tell, Aizen is back to his normal "arrogant" self with a little twist. Starting with his interaction with yhwach.
Aizen pokes fun at yhwach for “having more trouble with kurosaki Ichigo” then he had forseen. But Yhwach refutes back at him and tells Aizen, “not to project his insecurities onto me” (lmao yhwach) but funny enough, Aizen dosen't even try and talk back. He instead ignores him and tells yhwach he plans to stop him.
“so you see me as Ichigo Kurosaki? Fascinating...”
another moment where the old aizen wouldn't have done: using himself as a shield/sacrifice to help to defeat the enemy. I guess yhwach was right, “to join forces when confronted by a common enemy, is this not the actions of those cowards you detest so much?”
Not only that, aizen was trusting the fact that ichigo could figure out that he activated kyoka suigetsu to deliver the blow to Ichigo. A complete contradiction on his statement on “trust is the same thing as reliance”
People always see that moment as a badass moment, but personally this was when I knew tybw aizen was not the same aizen as before.
This is probably why Aizen was getting stronger, he is not scheming anything anymore, and thus has no choice but to do a reflection on himself and has to come to terms with his conflicting desires. The more he understands himself, the more stronger he would become.
And lastly, we have iconic panel of Aizen speech on courage.
There is nobody in bleach that embodies the word "courage" more then Ichigo. He experienced all kind of defeats which shaped him as a person. Even when he was faced with a stronger opponent, never once did he back out and instead he pushed forward and conquered his fear.
Something Aizen was not capable of. Aizen was afraid of his own conflicting desires that lies within deep in his heart. Because he thinks that part of him wont help accomplish what he set out to do and thus, refused to acknowledge that other part of him.
But Ichigo instead accepted both the quicy and Hollow parts as Zangestu. Both who are also conflicting parts of him.
Tumblr media
Aizen is definitely returning in the hell arc, szyal stating that the reason why the gates of hell were shut was because of the immense spitrual pressure of aizen. The gotei 13 will have to come to terms that despite how shitty aizen is, they can not deny he is STRONG. And will have no choice but to ask him for his strength. I would really be vv interesting to see how aizen would play out and his role.

When the aliens found earth, there were several factions, but it took decades to realize the heads of every faction were puppets, propped up to give the illusion of choice.
Pick your factions, pick your puppeteers, pick your driving motivations as you please, but there's only one group of puppeteers, regardless of how diametrically opposed the factions appear to be.
The Religious, supposedly many groups, supposedly holding no lands, but holding majority sway in many of the most violent and impoverished countries, with their congregations just doing what they were told in the name of God/the gods/ancestors/karma or whatever the local group espoused, and their leaders answering to a hierarchy that was either secretly supplanted by or outright created by one institution in particular, founded by an emperor from the butchered corpses of the religions of his day, and predating most forms of technology beyond basic metallurgy. Violent extremists ready to die for their cause embedded in nearly every nation ensure that none move against their interests too strongly.
The Structured, who have rigid societal systems that may or may not allow transitions between castes, and pursue efficiency and predictability. Those in the upper tiers fight amongst themselves viciously while their lessers cling doggedly to patriotic purpose, medicate themselves into a non-sapient haze, or kill themselves. Often all three, in that order. Their soldiers are generally brainwashed and their leaders are entirely unconcerned with collateral. After all, what use is the machine they have mounted with such effort, if not to build what they wish, and destroy what opposes them?
The Free, a rabid mob led by feelings and a constant stream of peer pressure from their omnipresent technology, that spends their time decrying the latest in the chain of liars to lead them and violently attacking one another over their perceived differences rather than questioning why their ballots only ever feature liars, or finding ways to do better. While it is near impossible to prevent the transmission of information in a technological society, it is incredibly easy to drown it in refuse and ridicule anyone who dares look at it. It is hard to stop the river of human consciousness, but shockingly easy to dye and divert it as one pleases, so long as you don't need precision.
The Profiteers, an alliance of less ignorant and more amoral members of most nations, and owners of a few. They ask one question in response to any and every thing to ail their fellows. "Now how can this be used to benefit me?" Bankers, corporate shareholders, political leaders, media personalities and mid-level religious figures all fall within this category, none hold to the ideals of their place, but are allowed to go on because they smooth logistics and are very effective saboteurs if ousted. They play symbiont to the upper echelons and parasite to the lower, which positions them as easy scapegoats should any of the chattel ever decide that enough is enough, and resort to violence.
The Equals, only ever scavengers feeding on the carrion of profiteers who overstayed their welcome, they rapidly self-destruct or transition to Structured or Free as soon as their twice-stolen wealth runs low, while their leaders abscond with whatever remained to join the Profiteers instead.
Three billion people, divided amongst these groups, according to our analytical algorithms connected to their Internet.
The "reset" a cyclic purge of population prevented them from growing too numerous, and after we saw the results, we asked the computer who or what ensured the reset would happen.
Twelve hundred people not in any category was the answer. Not mentioned on the Internet, no papers of identification, just inferred from holes in the information.
They did not rule anywhere, nor were they known to the public. But the ones who did rule, the ones at the head of every faction, answered to them.
Bored monsters, selectively bred for intelligence, not empathy, and trained from birth to see themselves as superior. The world as their sandbox, wargaming against one another to keep themselves sharp.

hi! so, first of all, i love your khajiit art, it's awesome to see someone expanding on khajiit lore in such a thoughtful and interesting way. second of all, i have been looking for ages for any information on marriage in khajiit culture and i have found little. obviously there ARE marriages in elsweyr, but i wanna know traditions: what clothes are worn, what kinds of rings are exchanged, if any, what foods are eaten, etc. but i cant find anything! do you have opinions on this? i'd love to hear!
thank you very much! i can't help with official lore sources (since ESO came out i stopped following that :')) but i do have my own headcanons on the matter!
marriages are a big deal when it involves the linking of two notable families/clans. in the northern regions, where clans are more important to everyday life and social structure, notable members marrying are grounds for large celebrations and larger amounts of discourse between family heads. expected topics include with whom the family will live, how both spouses fit the clan's skill and values and of course, how [insert party currently talking] is better than [insert the other clan involved]
marriages are more important by the greater families union they provide than other aspects surrounding the actual individuals. as a strongly communal society, to khajiit, marrying is first and foremost to officialize your relationship with a partner in relation to what that means for your families. the formation of elsweyr itself under that name happened with a marriage, and that historical example is propped up by some as what should be the cultural standard.
when a marriage does happen, it's a huge party. both sides of the couple's family come over to show off and have fun. it's a good occasion to meet other people and demonstrate the skills and power of you and your clan. as with all big parties, there will be guests who have nothing to do with either families coming too! those party crashers can just come for fun, but some attend to make connections and deals while taking advantage of the events.
romance, sex and having kids are not that tied to the concept. for marriages between important people, if they do have kids matters a lot but it's not that linked to the marriage in itself. khajiit are not very strict when it comes to why and how you have your lovers. it isn't a shame to have sex outside of marriage (including if you end up with kids), and if you are indeed married and want a lover, the big deal won't be ruining a sanctity of marriage, but more what your partner thinks of it. it is however considered unsightly to marry someone you do not have some feelings for, as well as marrying your friend for each other's benefits. again, greater family above all
who was there when it happens and how much you talk about your union are probably the most important factors for officializing it all. divorce isn't really a thing because khajiit aren't bureaucratic. if your marriage falls apart, it's up to you to make it clear you are ending it and face the likely familial backlash. it is however completely acceptable to marry several times - if your spouse is gone, if you find a better one... if that latter case applies and both sides don't remarry, the one who doesn't might get a bad rep. marriages between more than two people aren't a social norm, and while you might have a clan mother who celebrates that, it is rare and polyamoursly inclined khajiit tend to not marry at all and just stay lifelong lovers with their partners.
The only place in my personal khajiit musings where I explored marriage was for my own characters - Ma'Jahrann's parents, Elaahni and Qa'Husar. In those two, each hails from a very different culture - Elaahni is from a more traditionalist mid-sized Anequina clan, and Qa'Husar is from the southern parts with a more cosmopolitan structure, born to a small immediate family who dissolved as he grew up. Their marriage was a bit of a deal when it happened. Elaahni was a local celebrity and her family didn't see too kindly the nobody from those big humid cities marrying their daughter. Qa'Husar himself had to face acquiring a gigantic extended family overnight which he had no experience with. Both ended up fucking off to a smaller town where they settled on an in-between of living a settled lifestyle close with the local community, with Elaahni's close relatives visiting when they saw fit.

11 year old Gerry Kaey - a psychological analysis
Tumblr media
[ID: screenshot from a spreadsheet of two columns and two rows. The first column is labeled “First Name,” with “Gerard” listed below it. The second column is labeled “Last Name,” with “Kaey” listed below it. End ID]
Like everyone else, I was of course delighted by the presence of our beloved arsonist on our list of child test-subjects at the World Line 2 Magnus Institute (not delighted that he was having unethical psychology experiments performed on him, delighted by his presence. though it’s possible that this was actually a better childhood than he had with Mary. but I digress.)
(Data set can be found here, if anyone else wants to make a copy and play with it, and this post has my fave analysis of the sheet itself)
The data for Gerard Kaey was absolutely delightful, and it indicated more than almost anything else that some people were in fact the same (or very similar) across world lines. I was going to post about it and then I remembered that not everyone was forced to take a slightly outdated Educational Psychology class recently, and thus the random names at the top would not be indicators of fuckin anything without extensive Googling.
I figured trolling the internet for details on outdated developmental psychology theories and unethical sociology experiments is not most people’s idea of a fun afternoon (tho in the magnus fandom you never know); either way I figured I’d pull out the fun and interesting data on this goth child and translate it into human terms for us all to enjoy.
(QUICK NOTE: Pretty much all of these theories are outdated on account of being No Good and quite reductive and many of the experiments are EXTREMELY fucked up (all of which makes sense, given where these fictional data came from). If you’re curious about any of the actual psychological theories and criticisms, here’s a relatively jargon free summary, with further reading at the bottom. I’m gonna follow the time-honored tradition of psychology professors and say “well it sucks and was bad that this happened BUT it did happen and we might as well use the data to come to some general conclusions and/or ask better questions, especially about the people performing those tests in the first place.” anyway ty for coming to my TED talk ONTO THE GERRY DATA)
Tumblr media
[ID: screenshot from a spreadsheet of three columns and two rows. The first column is labeled “Kholberg,” with “Level 3” listed below it. The second column is labeled “Prosocial,” with “High” listed below it. The third column is labeled “Empathy Index,” with “95%” listed below it. End ID]
Let’s start here.
Kholberg’s Theory of Moral Development is a metric for measuring the moral development in children. It has three stages. A child who has reached the “third stage” demonstrates a consideration of the needs and feelings of others when making morality-based decisions and judgements, even above the norms and expectations of society.
Prosocial behavior is behavior that can be characterized as having no direct benefit to the person performing an action; something done entirely for the good of others.
Empathy Index is pretty self-explanatory (as far as I can tell, it’s not actually based on anything and is something the researchers created just for this experiment).
So far, we’ve got a rough picture of Gerry as a kid who has a strong moral compass, who is quick to help, even when there’s no benefit for himself. Who considers what the people around him might want or need. Who is able to throw social expectation out the window when someone else is in need.
Reminds me of that older, slightly different version of himself, sitting alone at a table in Venice, wearing a Hawaiian shirt because he’s “on vacation,” sighing in exasperation at the interruption and telling a stranger to think of her mother.
Tumblr media
[ID: screenshot from a spreadsheet of two columns and two rows. The first column is labeled “Milgram,” with “Low” listed below it. The second column is labeled “Asch,” with “Low” listed below it. End ID]
These are my favorite rows. They’re all the way at the end of the spreadsheet, which kind of makes me imagine that the testers had this image of a highly developed child, a kid who seemed perfect for whatever they had planned. And then…
Milgram was the motherfucker who ran the experiment where people were told to press a button, and when they did, another participant was delivered an electric shock. (there wasn’t actually a shock in Milgram’s experiment, just an actor pretending to be shocked. The socks were fake, but the psychological damage was real!) The test was designed to measure how long people would continue to do what they were told by the “scientist” running the test, even as the electric shock appeared to grow stronger. A “low” score is indicative of someone who bailed out ASAP, no matter what the test-runner said.
The Asch Conformity Experiment put a large number of people in the room (most of whom were actors) and showed them a series of images of lines with different lengths, and they had to identify which was longest. The actors all gave the correct answer for the first few, and then all of them started to give the exact same wrong answer (i.e. all of them would say B, even if Line A was clearly longest). The test measured how likely a subject was to conform to the group opinion, even when they knew the people around them were objectively wrong, if they were the only one offering a different (but correct) answer over the course of several rounds of images.
I have this super clear image of little Gerry in a ratty pair of jeans and a band t-shirt, long hair absolutely unbrushed, walking into a room with a dude in a lab coat and someone else strapped to a chair and IMMEDIATELY getting suspicious, and just refusing to press the button again once he realized what it did, leaving the actors just… lost as to how to proceed. And then with the Asch test, he’s just sitting there with a look of incredulity on his face looking at the people around him and saying “do you people need fucking glasses all of a sudden? it’s not fucking B.” and just ignoring them for the rest of the test.
and all of the Magnus people who had been VERY excited about this promising young person all of a sudden realizing that they have accidentally recruited a VERY intelligent juvenile delinquent.
so there you have it! World Line 2 Gerry Kaey was kind when he didn’t have to be, he didn’t give a shit how other people felt about him, he cared deeply for other people, UNLESS of course they were people in authority, in which case he told them to go fuck themselves.
*dreamy sigh* that’ll be our Gerard
final fun notes:
Gerry has the second highest number on the Empathy Index at 95%
The only kid who beat him, with a score of 98%, was 9 year old “Samara Khalid”
10 year old “Conner Dyer” scored “Low” on the Milgram and Asch tests JUST like Gerry. I wonder if they were friends.
Other than that, Dyer is almost exactly average among the rest of the data
Khalid scored “High” on both Milgram and Asch
Wonder how that’s gonna affect things 👀👀👀 high empathy, high value on what other people think
Sam thats so autistic of you I love u
Khalid was also on “Level 3” of Kholberg and had “High” levels of Prosocial behavior, despite being only 9 (super young to have the abstract thinking necessary for that)

It’s in the accent. It’s ALL in the accent.
Izzy Hands does not represent homophobia. He is not fucking up shit because he hates femininity because sexism. He is not secretly motivated by racism. He’s a cunt, but he’s not that kind of cunt.
His accent is aggressively, unabashedly working class. I can’t directly place which specific county his accent is from, but it’s most influenced by the Northern counties. For the purposes of this analysis, there is more emphasis placed on the fact that his accent is regional, not received. The influences appear to be primarily Northern.
There is a lot of friction between the North and the South in England. Northerners do not like Southerners. Historical context: There was considerable resistance from the existing rulers and princedoms in the North of England against the Norman colonizers who essentially imported (imposed) aristocracy as we recognize it today into England. The distance from the South was further and the conditions harsher. There was less assimilation.
The invaders struggled to exert the same kind of power in the Northern countryside that they did in the South because of distance and supply lines. When conflicts did happen they were often incredibly brutal, eg. the Harrying of the North, in which the Normans slaughtered, burned, and starved the North. As much as 75% of the population was lost in an attempt to bring the North to heel.
The general perception in the North is that Southerners perceive Northerners with contempt and loathing, deliberately deride and overlook the North, and when they do take an interest it is for the explicit purpose of exploitation. Northern suffering is worth less than Southern inconvenience. Even today, a Northern accent is often synonymized with a lack of education, empathy, or intelligence, or used as the butt of a joke.
Stede and Lucius benefit from literacy, received pronunciation and a wider vocabulary. In Stede’s case this would also include multilinguality in French and Latin, a literal language barrier to either permit or deny participation in the main institutions of European and British power: the aristocracy, the courts of law, and the church. An educated accent is used in almost explicit contrast to make traditional working class dialects, gradually evolved over centuries from Old English and contact through work with other trading nations like Holland, appear embarrassing and insufficient.
Izzy, a literal pirate with a strong working class accent, has every cultural reason to loathe the posh, aristocratic, well-educated Stede and Lucius (Lucius can read and has a London accent). Femininity is not the issue here; foppish upper-class affectations are. The authority. The entitlement. The bastards that prosper because he suffers, and his parents, and their parents, and their parents. Their extravagance and theatrics are in direct contrast to the down-to-earth, masculine modesty valued by the average Geordie or Yorkshireman.
I cannot stress enough that all of Izzy’s interactions with Stede are historically British class-based grievances.
So before you twist Izzy into some fake effigy of homophobia or self-hating gay or whatever the fuck else, try to look at it from this perspective:
Izzy is losing the man he cares about most in the universe to a fucking posh bastard aristocrat. It’s not just that he hates Stede - Izzy’s position in society, dignity in his own country, and even his self-worth and the value of his own life has been constantly and forever overlooked in favor of people just like Stede Bonnet. People who are lucky, who are born lucky. And now the place that he feels he belongs, the work that he takes pride in, the life he’s cultivated and the people who matter to him, are all being co-opted apparently on a whim, for fun by the exact kind of person who has oppressed him and his ancestors for the past seven hundred years.
And frankly, I can kind of see why he’s pissed.
If you take this read of his character, he ceases entirely to be just some shallow and two-dimensional villain. He’s a character who has suffered at the hands of the privileged, entitled elite that Stede represents to a working class man. He takes out that suffering on those around him in a desperate attempt to protect his place in the world. Being second-in-command to the great Blackbeard is an enormous accomplishment that he has every reason to protect. He has a chip on his shoulder that makes him feel like he has to bite, scratch and claw for every single inch of empowerment he has.
And it makes him a rich and fascinating character! One who is tragically too damaged to accept kinship with the people he actually has so much in common with. His innate identity made him feel completely powerless, so he seeks power over others. He’s insecure and bitter. It’s tragic in a nuanced, Shakespearean sort of way.
Izzy Hands adds so much to the story, and it shows just how much thought and care went into creating each and every important character in this series - even the villain.

Tomura's Psyche
So while Chapter 419 was absolutely devastating, I find a lot of what AfO said in this chapter kind of enlightening. Most of his monologues tend to go over my head but this one was really interesting to me because he used the terms 'superego' and 'id'.
(I'm really obsessed with psychology rn but I've still only taken one course and read a bunch of articles so forgive me if I get anything wrong)
According to Sigmund Freud, a personality is composed of three elements known as the id, ego, and superego.
The id is essentially your basic desires, needs, and impulses and is not affected by reality, logic, or the everyday world, as it operates within the unconscious part of the mind. It operates on a pleasure principle in which every impulse must be satisfied immediately and when the impulse is denied, a person experiences displeasure. Think of it like the devil whispering in your ear for you to do whatever you want. The id is split into two base instincts known as the Eros (life instinct) and Thanatos (death instinct). Eros helps the individual survive, directing life-sustaining activities such as respiration, eating, and sex (Freud was obsessed with sex, don't look at me he was weird af). Thanatos is essentially the destructive forces everyone has access to and when directed outwards, it is often expressed as aggression and violence. Freud believed that Eros was stronger than Thanatos, thus enabling people to survive rather than self-destruct.
However, when we look at this panel
Tumblr media
I don't think AfO fully suppressed his id because that would make no sense since Tomura's whole thing was his hatred and desire to destroy everything stemming from 'that house'. Rather, AfO suppressed his life instinct or Eros, making it so that he was driven by his death instinct and would self-destruct and react with violence and aggression to things that he didn't like.
This is essentially what Tomura was like at the beginning when he was still being 'mentored' by AfO. He was impulsive and rash, destroying whatever he wanted without any thought for the consequences. He was also incredibly self-destructive, scratching at his skin until it bled and not taking care of his body the way he should.
But he changed, didn't he? After AfO was locked in Tartarus, he changed and matured as a person.
Which brings us to the second part of someone's personality, known as the ego. The ego develops during infancy to mediate between the unrealistic id and the real external world by finding reasonable ways to achieve the id's demands. It is the decision-making component of personality. Ideally, the ego works by reason, whereas the id is chaotic and unreasonable. Freud describes the ego as "part of the id which has been modified by the direct influence of the external world.”
This pretty much perfectly summarizes what happens to Tomura when AfO is detained and he's forced to mature and act as a true leader to their ragtag group of broke villains. He's willing to do things differently, to delay the satisfaction of doing what he wants in exchange for a more favourable outcome (which is known as delayed gratification in psychology). Like when he was working with Overhaul, he didn't particularly want to work with him and most definitely wanted to kill him but that wouldn't benefit the league in any way so he went about it in a smarter way, using the heroes' invasion to get what he wanted, which was to hurt Overhaul, and what benefited the league, which was the quirk destroying drug.
And now finally, the third element of someone's personality, is known as the superego. The superego develops during the ages of 3 to 5, incorporating the values and morals of society, which are commonly learned from one’s parents. It motivates us to behave in socially acceptable manners and is essentially there to control the id's impulses that society forbids such as violence.
In this panel
Tumblr media
AfO calls Tenko Tomura's superego but until recently, Tenko's been caged in Tomura's head. The beliefs he'd picked up from his parents were still in his unconscious, still embedded in his actions and decisions with him being none the wiser.
Especially when you compare these two scenes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite losing his hatred and grief, he's still fighting because he knows the league, his chosen family, was relying on him.
A family that looks out for one another because the heroes failed them all.
So in conclusion, AfO has been manipulating Tomura's life and personality to fit his needs and because of this, Tomura has been unstable as fuck since he was a kid and desperately needs help that I doubt he's going to be able to get before he dies.

men's feelings aren't really our concern
From a review of a radical feminist book, emphasis mine:
I can't get on board with the anti-family, pro-abortion, even at times anti-sex (a radical celibacy which is purely politically motivated), other times it's about a political homosexuality, or the anarchy / Marxism. The tension radical feminists must live in by simultaneously wanting abortion on demand while knowing this automatically benefits sexually liberal men is part of the reason why I don't want to be in their shoes.
There is no tension whatsoever because feminism is about liberating women, not punishing men.
Example: I believe women should be allowed to work without needing to wear bras or shave their legs, even if some men will find this sexually arousing, because organizing your life around what men do or don't want is not what feminism is about. Feminism is about women's liberation. I think it's far more worrying that women's bodies are treated as naturally disgusting and in need of disciplining. Some man, somewhere, is always going to be aroused by a woman's body or presentation. That's not my problem. The society shaming the woman for her body is the problem.
Some men may think abortion is a good thing to them because it means there's a possibility of having sex without a baby. But abortion is something that should only be in the hands of women. If it so happens that a man benefits from a particular woman choosing to abort, that is his problem. The goal is not to punish him for the sake of punishing him. The goal is for women to be able to control their reproduction free from male violence and coercion. Forcing women to have babies they don't want to "punish" a sexually liberal man is such a ridiculous notion that I'm not sure OP thought out the implication of that - a man should be tied to a woman he does not want to be with (and she may not want to be with him either) as a "punishment"... sounds more like punishing the woman.
Women's liberation will often inconvenience men or cause them to lose privileges, but the point is not to be some kind of judge from on high punishing men. We should only be interested in punishment if it has to do with justice, not for punishment's sake. Whether men feel good or bad about liberation is not our concern.

God the apocalypse riddle stuff,,, my mouth is watering.
Just imagine life with him after his baby is born. You’re recovering from a brutal labor and Riddle is so concerned for your health because let’s face it- in a dystopian society run by men, they probably don’t have good sex ed. Riddle had absolutely no clue how hard pregnancy could really be on your body and he’s giving you ample time to rest before impregnating you again. You guys are starting to fall into a domestic rhythm and Riddle’s never been happier.
But gossip has a habit of getting around, and soon word of the Heartslabyul Commander being in an unusually good mood reaches the Octavinelle area. Azul had eyes everywhere and gathers data on you, the person that is making this change happen in Riddle. He didn’t plan on actually falling in love, though.
Azul ends up getting attached to both you and your baby with Riddle because of course he does, he’s a pathetic desperate tako who gets no love. Just let him imagine that you’re his family, not Riddle’s. Azul, being the octopus as he is, decides to investigate a bit and digs up some dirt on Riddle. It would be just disastrous if it got out, right? But maybe a session or two with you might be suitable payment to destroy the evidence. Riddle can sit in the room and watch, but no touching <3
Oh and if the miracle of life happens within that day or two? Well, then there’s going to be a lot more diplomatic visits between the two compounds, then. Azul is slimy and Riddle is furious. And now you have two insane baby daddies on your side.
It's a wonderful plan. Riddle just can't see the benefits because he's so busy calling Azul's interference a "nuisance" and a "troublesome scheme." He tries to protect you from him and his slimy tendencies, but when Azul confronts him with some very secret information he's managed to learn, sighing about how it would be such a terrible shame if it got out and all of the other compounds and their leaders learned of it (perhaps it's about the fact that Riddle is infected with Overblot hehe >:D), Riddle realizes the situation is more dangerous than he initially thought. Azul's interest in you is annoying; Riddle refuses to, as he coldly and crudely puts it, "whore you out" to someone like Azul. But Riddle doesn't hold all of the cards here, and he'll have no choice but to work out some compromise if he doesn't want Azul leaking such damning evidence.
Azul asks for three days. Three days of your time. Riddle knows what that will entail. He shouldn't even have to work it into the fine print because it's very obvious that that's his ultimate goal. Riddle tries to reason with Azul that you're still recovering, that he'll give him anything else but you if he can drop this misplaced infatuation, but Azul is insistent. He'll be gentle; he'll treat you sweetly. Riddle has to keep a level head because if he loses his patience he might not be able to see through Azul's trickery. Three days is too much. Riddle refuses right away, but Azul persists, all with that annoying smile of his. Wouldn't it be better to unite the Heartslabyul and Octavinelle compounds through this? With the resources and manpower of both, as well as the information both have gathered, they would be much stronger, not only in numbers but in everything else as well. The tunnel system beneath the Octavinelle compound is complex and always expanding; Azul could very well start production on a tunnel that leads to Heartslabyul, successfully connecting both compounds via underground passage.
Even Riddle has to admit the idea isn't half bad, but he still refuses to give you up. And Azul refuses to drop the matter, but of course if he continues to be difficult he supposes he can take his leave and the precious, private details he's learned will be shown to the world. Riddle can't drag this out any longer. He adores you, yes, but his reputation is at stake. He can't risk a coup; his compound is so orderly and he's the leader. He can't be overthrown; he can't lose you and everything else he has worked so hard to achieve just because of Azul's pesky nosiness. So he tells Azul one day. That's all he's willing to give him. After all, it's not like you'll get pregnant from just one day spent with Azul. He should be fine. Both men shake hands, sign carefully crafted contracts, and Azul thanks him for his cooperation. Riddle wishes he could cut that slimy bastard's tongue from his mouth.
Azul is a cheat. One day is more than enough for him...in his mer form. :) Riddle never specified he couldn't use that form, and it works perfectly for giving you lots of eggs, ensuring that, at the very least, one will hatch successfully, if not almost all if he keeps you in stable conditions. Azul isn't a brute, or so he insists, and he shares a nice dinner with you, getting to know you through conversation (although everything you tell him he's already aware of), before the main event. Riddle's more than welcome to stand before the aquarium glass and watch if he so pleases. In fact, Azul wants to see just how irritated Riddle becomes when he realizes he's been played, when he sees how good Azul fucks you, when he sees how you fall apart in his embrace, fucked dumb on a thick tentacle, stuffed to maximum capacity with his clutch.
Azul never truly leaves after that, and construction is underway to join the compounds together. He's always there like a nasty stain that won't wash away no matter how many scrubs it's treated to. Riddle apologizes to you often, mourning the fact that you're stuck between him and that annoying Octavinelle compound leader. But even so he feels immense pride when you cling to him, holding his hand, hiding behind him when Azul's around. You like Riddle more than you like Azul. Riddle is safe and trustworthy, certainly more than Azul is, and knowing this warms Riddle's heart. You may be carrying Azul's children, but that doesn't mean your love for Riddle or your baby has wavered. If anything, it's only gotten stronger. <3 naturally, Azul will have to work harder to charm you and he is nothing if not dedicated.

tokyo ghoul AND death note ask -
How do you think L and Light would react if they lived in the Tokyo Ghoul world? Would they be pro-CCG? Ghoul sympathisers etc?
Which (if any) characters from TG would support Kira? 👀
Obviously choose which, if any, to write lol, but I'd love to read your take! Thanks!
oh fuck yes i love a good crossover ty for this ask!
this is not directly related but i have actually imagined if light were in kaneki’s place before because it’s super interesting to me, because unlike kaneki, light barely hesitated to experiment with the death note, so i think when he realized what was going on, he’d be curious about the taste of human meat as well as his kagune. similar with the death note, probably gets power drunk with it and ends up a binge eater like rize.
addressing your ask now, light has a strong sense of justice, and pre death note acquisition, he also has a great deal of respect for “the system.” i can see him being pretty pro-CCG (i dont see this holding him back if he were in kaneki’s place though, i think his curiosity overcomes these factors).
on the other hand, while justice is still meaningful for L, he’s also more amusement oriented. also, he would view it less as an issue of justice and more as an issue of darwinism. to him, the conflict is not about right and wrong like it is for light, but about weak and strong species. because of that, i don’t think he’s particularly pro-ghoul or pro-CCG. he’s just observing to see which species comes out on top because it’s fun for him.
one tg character i think would have a really interesting perspective on kira is kaneki. i can see him either taking a matsuda-like perspective where he sees the benefits of taking out criminals, but still thinks its wrong.
eto is not pro or anti kira, she’s just curious about what’s going to happen. probably had the tv on 24/7 when the second kira and “kira” were communicating via sakura tv
touka and ayato would be strictly anti kira, they do not trust the concept of justice at all for obvious reasons, actually i think most ghouls fall into this category.
saiko is someone that interests me as well because on the one hand i can see her being pretty anti kira, and on the other hand i can see her being pro kira, and this is all based on her reaction and perspective shift after amon saves her, the lack of certainty is just me trying to explore all the possibilities and therefore being unable to keep consistent analogies in my head
the character i can most see supporting kira strongly is kureo mado, idk i just see him as the kind of person to think that cleaning up society is cleaning up society whether it’s done by the book or unconventionally

Undead Unluck ch.183 thoughts
[Rip Has Two Hands]
(Contents: polyamorous gushing, thematic analysis, Latla analysis)
WHOO!!! THANK YOU, TOZUKA!!!
Being in a polyamorous relationship, it means so much to me and my family to see a scene like this. My wife runs a blog dedicated to polyamory in manga (@polyamanga), and so often potential triads or quads or whatever else will dissolve right at the end because of any number of excuses, like one character realizing that they see the love interest as like their mom, or something, or a harem protagonist insisting that polyamory is morally wrong even though he's too spineless to actually make a choice. It's endlessly frustrating, and even a lot of series that are centered around polyamory still miss the mark in certain ways. Kanojo mo Kanojo, for example, has every single character decrying the act of two-timing consistently despite the fact that that's the lifestyle that they agreed to live! Even the main dude calls himself a scumbag constantly, like he's a monster for actually being honest with his girlfriend and continuing to do something she, again, agreed to!
I don't know what Tozuka plans to do with this relationship, whether it's going to get a lot of focus or if it's going to mostly be a background detail or what, but just getting to see a character actively decide to enter a polyamorous relationship and be met with love and acceptance for that decision is extremely refreshing and exciting. I do hope we get to see them actually acting like a triad and that it doesn't devolve into jealous bickering, but from what we've seen of this group, the bickering that does happen is likely going to be mostly playful. More than anything, though, I hope that we get some more detailed characterization for Leila, as one of the major complaints I've seen is that she's just been generically smiley and supportive, not unlike Ichico in Nico's flashback
But what's wrong with that? Two different characters acted in a similar way in a similar situation, asking for their partner to be happy in the event of their impending death? That's not lazy writing, that's theming! Undead Unluck is about finding happiness through sorrow! Would Fuuko's parents have wanted her to kill herself after she found out that she was responsible for their death? No, they would have wanted her to be happy! Did Isshin's dad want her to lose faith in herself after her armor failed to protect him from a UMA? No, he wanted her to know that she had saved the rest of the village!
While plenty of characters enforce despair on themselves, no one in Undead Unluck deliberately enforces despair on anyone else except for God and the UMA, who represent that very despair. "I have to atone for what I did/this is my cross to bear/I deserve this." Those are all self-imposed rules! And if there's one thing Undead Unluck has taught us, it's that rules are meant to be broken!!! If a rule doesn't benefit or protect those it restricts, then it's just a tool that someone else is using to control them!
And that's exactly what we're told here, too. Society tells us that we have to pick one partner, even if it means someone's happiness has to be lost, but why? What purpose does it serve to compromise on what would make us happy? Sure, if one partner would be unhappy with that outcome, then it may not be worth pursuing, but Latla's objection isn't that she'd be unhappy, it's that other people will judge them for their choice
"Why do you always worry about me?! Why won't you just leave me be?" Latla has already decided that she doesn't get her happy ending because she wants Leila to get hers. She thinks that their happiness is mutually exclusive, so she resigned herself to finding happiness in Leila's happiness. But that's a fallacy. They aren't mutually exclusive, they can have their cake and eat it too, and they'll be happier for it because neither of them needs to think that they've deprived the other of their happiness. Do you think Rip and Leila would be satisfied knowing that Latla was hurting? That she was crying behind a tree while they kissed? That she was slowly backing away and would eventually be gone from their lives if they didn't literally drag her back?
Latla chastised Rip in both this and the previous loop for going out on his own and leaving her behind, but in her own way, Latla was doing the exact same thing. Rip was literally distant, but Latla was emotionally distant, refusing to allow herself to indulge in the happiness that would otherwise be lost to her sister. If she and Rip hadn't held each other at arm's length in the previous loop, how differently would their lives have gone? How happy could they have been? Better question, was happiness even possible for them at the time without Leila? Were they being disrespectful of Leila's wishes, or was the hole too great for them to fill on their own?
Nico couldn't fill the Ichico-shaped hole in his heart with Mico, even though that's what Ichico wanted, for fear that doing so would erase what little was left of her in his heart. Perhaps it was hopeless from the beginning that Rip and Latla would be able to move on without Leila, much like Rip and Leila wouldn't be able to smile knowing that Latla was crying
Undead Unluck is about joy and freedom, and its cast finds joy in living freely. Fuuko fell into despair because she couldn't touch anyone, but found joy when she met someone she could touch freely. Juiz was trapped in a never-ending cycle of loss, but found joy when she met someone who she trusted could break the cycle. Rip and Latla fell apart when they lost Leila, but now can laugh and smile without reservation or guilt because they can be with her forevermore without anyone telling them they can't. And who are we to tell them they can't be happy after everything they've been through?
