Nico is a reclusive prince and Jason is a rebel raised by wolves
Jasico but in a mix of french revolution and greek mythology (no country or exact year for this story)
Maria di Angelo is a queen who never married and had two children with Hades: Nico and Bianca. Maria is known to be a tough and merciless queen, and the identity of her children has always been a mystery because whenever they went to parties or diplomatic events the two children wore all black clothes and veils covering their faces because Maria went a little crazy after she had a second child with a god and she thought her children were also gods and should be feared and worshiped. Not even servants were allowed to see the children's faces. They were to leave the food for the children in a private part of the castle that no one was allowed to go to. The maids who bathed or tended to them were all blind.
Meanwhile, Beryl was a famous beautiful duchess daughter of a duke; she has two children with Zeus. She starts talking about having more powerful children than the queen's children, but queen Maria tries to discredit her, and before Beryl can even do anything about it, Hera claims Jason. As punishment for zeus' betrayal, the boy is raised in the forest by wolves all his life. Already 17 years old he returns to the city, he has no idea that his sister Thalia is part of the court and that he would’ve had a different life if it wasn't for the goddess' punishment. Jason starts working in the city and gets involved with a group of revolutionary rebels against the monarchy.
With the country on the verge of a revolution, Maria marries Bianca with a prince who will inherit the throne of an important country and so Bianca leaves. Bianca's presence in his life was the only thing keeping Nico in the castle, so after that he starts to feel completely lonely and trapped in his private and isolated part of the castle. He knows he can travel in the shadows but that was forbidden and he had never trained much, at that moment he sees that he has no other way out. Nico steals a servant's clothes and begins to shadow travel to "real life".
Maria never misses Nico because she never visited her children, she was much more committed to making her subjects worship the temple that she made for the children of Hades. Nico then starts to go more and more to the city dressed as a servant and even at first being afraid, he learns to defend himself in the streets and learns to fight. So he get the attention of the rebels for being merciful to the poor, a good fighter and intelligent.
One day Nico is in a home for women who were abandoned with their children and ended up flocking there to support each other. Nico is helping with the kids and has taken some money for them, when Jason comes to visit to see how they are doing. Jason finds Nico's behavior strange, he may have been raised by wolves, but he knows it's not normal for a servant to be so refined and have so much money. Jason tries to ambush Nico to get him to tell him the truth, but they end up fighting each other. By instinct to defend against Nico's attacks, Jason ends up discovering his powers with wind and lightning in his hands, so runs away in fear after hurting Nico more than he intended.
After giving some thought to what happened, Jason tells his group that they should call Nico. but what he really wants is to find out who Nico really is.
At first, Nico thinks of not accepting it because he would be betraying his mother, but seeing the state in which the country is, he ends up allying himself with the rebels. Over the course of many struggles, the group notices that Jason has a savage power that is unparalleled, and they turn him into the leader of the revolution. Because he is the most educated there, in the meetings Nico always gives important tactical observations, Jason hates having to agree with him because he still distrusts him, so in these meetings they often end up discussing in a veiled (or not so veiled) way. After a very important meeting about an attack on a visiting court from another country that would give a week of festivities for the court while the people starve— Nico gives important opinions and Jason and he argue again, because Jason wants to follow his own idea that it was a little more "attack" while Nico's plan was more lenient but would put them inside the party. Nico leaves frustrated and tired of Jason not listening to him "that idiot wolf cub", and everyone says Jason is wrong.
For everyone's sake, Jason ends up giving in and going after Nico. They talk and Jason apologizes but says he can't trust him, Nico says it's ok because he doesn't trust him either. They then opt for a mixture of their plans and the attack is successful. After that, the rebel movement gains more supporters and even investment from businessmen who agree with its ideas. Jason remains the leader and now places Nico as his advisor and strategist.
The two gradually develop a very close friendship. With each battle won after spending sleepless nights talking about their plans, they feel more confident and their friendship grows more and more. At this point, since Bianca left and Nico started going out and Jason went to the city, it's been two years.
And so their friendship and partnership grows to the point that it's not just friendship anymore, they fall in love with each other but they both think it's wrong. So one night after a battle won and happiness on the surface, they end up kissing. Nico flees into the shadows, frightened. Days later he comes back and they talk and end up kissing again. So they start to have this relationship hidden from the rest of the rebels— but actually everyone suspects.
One of the rebels, Daniel, has a problem with this (read: homophobic) and he wants to take Jason's place in the lead and says they missed the last attack because Jason followed his boyfriend's plans without thinking. What is not true. Some rebels died or were captured in the last attack by an eventuality that their plan, or no other plan, could have foreseen. Jason begins to feel pressured by the rebels and comes up with a risky plan. Nico says he shouldn't do it but he moves on anyway.
The attack will again be at a court event, Jason tries to follow a more attack plan, and at first everything is going well, but the rebels are ambushed in the middle of the party, so Jason uses his powers to save them. And that makes Thalia recognize him.
He and Nico argue why Jason shouldn't have used his powers in public. Jason apologizes and says that at least now he will stay in the lead and not Daniel, who can be crueler than all the kings and queens put together. He and Nico make up and everything is fine again.
Thalia disguises herself and manages to get in the middle of the rebels and talk to Jason. He in turn attacks her and wants to hold her hostage, but she shows her power with the lightning in her hands and Jason believes her. Nico arrives and sees the scene, Jason calls him to stay with him and they listen to Thalia's story about how their mother died by an Hera trick shortly after she delivered Jason to the wolves, and that Thalia was raised by a cruel family in the court that did horrors to her. They realize that the goddess has managed to punish the whole family for Zeus' double betrayal. Thalia stays with them from that moment on and also helps Jason and Nico in the tactical part.
Nico begins to wonder if now that Jason knows he would have been a noble too, he would accept the truth that Nico is a prince. Thalia and Jason begin to use their powers with each onslaught of the rebels and become known as The Wrath of Zeus. Because they have two children of Zeus against the monarchy, people start to think that the queen is wrong and that her son is not even a son of a god since he is not fighting for her. Maria goes after Nico and finds that he's barely been around the castle because the maids say the food they take stays there for weeks. Maria investigates and finds out what Nico is doing. After that, she starts to spread around the city that her son was taken hostage, even though she knows the truth And through her convincing speech people are moved and turn against the rebels to retrieve the queen's son.
Jason and the rebels don't understand what's going on. Nico knows it's time to speak up, but before he can do that, Daniel finds out what's going on and exposes Nico in front of everyone. Jason doesn't want to believe it's true, but amidst the attacks Nico ends up exposing his powers to defend himself. Jason is shocked and the rebels want to arrest Nico.
Jason is so unresponsive that he doesn't know how to act, whether to go against the rebels and defend the person he loves, or to go against Nico and abandon the rebellion. Thalia tries to talk to Jason calmly after Nico is arrested by the rebels, but Jason is angry because Nico lied to him all this time. Thalia manages to make him see that Nico did it for fear of exactly what happened, and that Jason has to think about whether he loves the revolution more than he loves Nico. Jason says the revolution is more important than his personal feelings.
And Nico remains in jail for a few days. The atmosphere in the city is tense because the population is going against the rebels. Daniel practically took control of the group because Jason was completely messed up and tired. Daniel makes a terrible plan to attack the civilians before they attack them, and Jason doesn't even know about it. Then a large group of rebels leaves with Daniel for this attack. Jason and Thalia discover it, but the attack is already underway. He gets desperate, and goes to Nico asking for help. They start to argue over Nico lying and Jason letting him get arrested. Finally they decide to wait to resolve this and go to the city to stop the attack since all the queen wants is to weaken the population and make them fight each other.
Jason, Nico and Thalia arrive in town and it is a pandemonium. They manage to put a stop to the confusion, but the queen takes advantage of the moment when they are weak and sends her soldiers to finish off the rebels, and if some civilians die, so be it. But the three demigods manage to master an entire army. They are using their powers to the fullest and their auras are more powerful than ever. Thalia with a silver aura, Jason with an electric blue aura flying across the battlefield, and Nico wrapped in darkness and cold.
After they manage to overwhelm the army and what remains of it retreat out of fear, Jason and Nico talk to the people about uniting now or never. Everyone understands the queen's plan and how little  their lives are worth to her. They unite and take the castle and arrest the queen. She begs Nico for mercy, and when he thinks to answer, the people attack and kill her before he can do anything.
Exhausted from using their powers to the fullest, the three are hospitalized for days and days. Jason recovers sooner because Nico was already very weak from being arrested days before the attack. Jason visits him and they talk about everything. Jason says that Nico is going to be an important political leader now and that he's going to be a general, that they can't be together. Nico says that's the biggest bullshit he's ever heard, and that if he had to get into another battle like that just so they could finally be together in peace, he would.

Ghost helpline part 16- Everyone goes home
Billy walked out of the, surprisingly opened at 3 am, art store with bags of painting supply. Ducking into an alley, he transformed. He felt a lot better.
Alright he was ready to head for Gotham, after all his family was waiting for him there.
Now how to get around the Bats, he could probably avoid them if he walked in Bludhaven right?
- “Ow! What the hell! Billy???” The kid had decided to detransform mid air and ended up on top of the small vampire.
“Jack?”
The two looked at each other, “Holly shit are you bleeding! Did I do that?”
“What no of course not! I just got caught up with some bigoted werewolf.” Reds blood was already dry, skin scared as if the encounter had taken place days ago. “Billy what are you even doing here?!”
“Finished that pie at the diner and took a walk around the place. Was just starting to head home”
Translation: I’m done with my mission and patrol of Fawcett and am trying to go home.
“And you didn’t take the short cut home because?”
Billy quizzically raised an eyebrow, seriously what does my sister see in this guy? “ Taking the long way seemed like a safer bet, especially in a town like this.”
Translation: Do you want me to get caught by the Batman ?? Huh? Do you?
“Right, we should get going there’s no telling if that wolf will come back. Need a lift?”
“Can’t we just call Dandy to pick us up?”
Red shook his head, “No can do, he left to go pick up Violet chances are he’s barely coming back into town.”
“What do you mean pick Violet up? Where is she?!?”
“It’s a whole thing, just look I am not comfortable being here right now. Don’t you know wolves travel in packs? Do you want a lift or not!?!?”
“Fine.” Jack hoisted Billy over his shoulder, “This is humiliating.”
“Hardy har har, I may be a weak vampire but even I can care you in this form. Now hold tight.”
They disappeared in a blur of pink.
And Nightwing set down the binoculars, this was going to be a long report.
—-
Dandy was ready to strangle them.
“Hold on hold on we can just check the mirror again!”
“Flipping flapjacks, where the heck is Small-ville?”
Klarion could feel Dandy’s eyes burning into him. Whoops, “Well I at least need to know what state we’re in for me to teleport more accurately… so.”
Danka smiled, “So we ask for directions! We are literally on top of a farm right now - someone has got to be here!”
“Well not like we got any other plans here.”
A short walk, a pie and a conversation later Klarion managed to teleport them to the mansion.
Dandy couldn’t enjoy it for a minute. He stopped dead in his tracks, “Klarion, we forgot the car.”
—- —- —-
Bruce’s neck hurt, did he sleep on the
bat-puter again? No it was too soft. He shifted and opened his eyes… he was on a couch? Oh, OH. That wasn’t suppose to happen, he couldn’t have been that tired. The tv was off, and there was a blanket on top of him.
Vlad was gone and the lights were dimmed.
Great he had made a fool out of himself.
Right, it was time to leave. Right now. He could apologize later but he had to leave.
CRASH!
Bruce jolted into action. The sound came from upstairs.
// He’s so going to get robbed.//
Dick was right, for god sakes the house didn’t even have cameras!
Bruce ran up the stairs.
CRash! ThUd! “Ow damn nmit”
Oh that didn’t sound like a criminal… that sounded like a kid.
Two doors opened, Vlad and a little boy came out of them.
The kid had black hair and blue eyes, “Who the fuck are you?”
“Billy!”
“Whatever old man, next time just let us know before you bring some side piece over.”
Oh good god he was another Jason.
——
Bruce got into his car and went home.
He left felling giddy and guilty, holding Vlad’s number.
Dick knew better to keep secrets from The Batman, so he wasn’t going to lie. He just also wasn’t going to tell him what happened to his face. If Bruce really needed to know what happened tonight he could read the report on it.
—- —- —-
Violet stares at the phone longer than necessary, she’s got one shot at this. Don’t fuck up.
She plucks a number out of her inventory and dials.
Violet has never been close to Bradley, he was quiet and reserved. He insisted that she couldn’t do anything without help, well on the upside if someone thinks you’re useless it’s not like you can disappoint them more than you already do.
“Hey Brad, can you come pick me up… I’m at a pub… yeah again…”
- Brad hung up the phone and abandoned his brothers at the movie theater. His sister had called him, him! Not Dandy or Danka or Klarion! She had called him! And now he he had a little sister to save!
He checked the time on his Lock Screen, a picture of Violet having a stuffed animal tea party, it was his prized possession. His little baby sister was just so adorable and kind. And if anyone in Gotham hurt her there was going to be hell to pay! - literally!

Rick could've made Jason Grace a much more interesting character if he leaned into the 'raised by wolves' thing.
Because Jason was abandoned, like, as basically a toddler, right? And yeah then eventually he got to camp Jupiter but he could've for years been with wolves. Like what if from age two or three to like age 12 he was just out there in the wild? Like he really could've been illiterate and had to learn from scratch how to read. Heck, maybe he had to relearn talking.
But what about habits like he had to unlearn like itching a scratch with his foot? Wolves scratch with their hind legs and little Jason just copied them. Now years later when he has an itch he finds himself tapping his foot. Probably not super noticeable but still an interesting quirk
What if he's always trying to smell everything? Wolves rely a lot on their noses. What if Jason honed his sense of smell to be freaky accurate? Like he could navigate a pitch black room by smell alone. Or tell just from someone's breath what they had eaten that day. Or could even kinda track someone through mostly smell? How intense his smelling capabilities are is up to you. Ha, maybe his sense of smell really isn't anything supernatural but still his first instinct on finding anything he doesn't understand is putting it up to his nose and taking a whiff.
Also, there could've been tension between Piper and Jason over the fact Piper is vegan. Jason could've been like "that's great babe and im super supportive and I will try the tofu tacos I guess but... ngl, I have murdered a doe with my own two hands and eaten the carcass raw. I crave meat constantly. If you really can't stand me eating meat idk if this is gonna work"
Oh. And manners. He probably is so stiff and formal and trying to be over-polite because he got reprimanded so much for not having manners after living with the wolves. Then someone says "you know, you don't have to worry about being polite here-" and he's like "oh thank the gods-" and just throws away the utensils and puts his whole face in his food.
Or what about when someone stares at him? Was that in HoO? He can feel their stare and he stares back as a challenge? That could be played for humor. Someone is staring at Jason cause he's a fuckin weirdo and then Jason's suddenly like "what? What?? You wanna fight?? You wanna go??? Right now let's fight let's go! C'mon, I see you!! Put em up! Let's fight! Oh, you're looking away? Coward. Weak."
Or omg Jason growling. Everyone around him like "are you... are you fucking growling right now? Seriously?" "I'm upset okay?? I am signaling that I am upset and on edge! Leave me alone!"
Seeing a cat or deer or something and fighting the urge to chase after it like an idiot. "I don't trust that cat" "Yes, Jason. We know." "Cats are not to be trusted im serious." "Yes, Jason. We know, Jason"
So much wasted potential

Wolfboy Jason Headcanons
Yes. Wolfboy!Jason has a space in my heart because BRUH he was raised by wolves he’s gonna have some characteristics 😩 (oh holy fuck i don’t think i’m ever gonna get over the fact i have emojis on my laptop now 😭😭)
Anyways Let’s GO!
Sometimes he goes non-verbal because he was brought up by wolves so he doesn’t really talk a lot. Also trauma but that isn’t what we are talking about right now- *clears throat* Uhuh anyways so he goes non-verbal for different time periods and it gets hard to understand him so Annabeth ends up teaching him basic sign language (Magnus taught her) and so now the 7 and some other people close to Jason know basic sign language.
He sits on his haunches a lot. Haunches as in like feet tucked under his butt and knees lined up with his shoulders. I’d call it kneeling but that’s not entirely it. Also he cannot sit criss cross apple sauce, it makes him feel weird and short (after sitting on your haunches it feels hella uncomfy to sit criss cross speaking from experience lol)
He can’t read. Bestie he a wolfboy he cannot read as much as we’d think we can. Camp Jupiter tried teaching him so now can read like.. baby books-
Extreme body language man. Nodding is his go to mode of communication because again ✨wolf childhood ✨. You can visibly see his body language shift because well body language yes but it’s also extremely obvious in a sense there is no way to hide it. He has a lot of physical tells, like when he’s lying he starts to bite his lip a lot or scratch his arms. When he’s super happy his face grows 3x. When he’s sad his chin starts to stick out a lot.
Doesn’t know slang. Being raised by wolves (imma rlly drive this point home lol 😝) + Camp Jupiter really cut off his slang dictionary so he has no clue when people use slang much like Hazel. So the 7 love fucking with the both of them. Hazel is a little more hard to fuck with but boi is Jason a fun target.
My man growls. Not just angry growls, like when he’s like feeling stuff he’ll growl. When’s he’s happy it’s all high pitched and squeal-y and when he’s sad it’s more whimpering. When he’s angry he just straight up bears his teeth out and you can hear the deep rumbling growls.
He sucks at thumb wars. Wolves don’t have thumbs so he learned to live without using them much so his thumbs are very weak and so Jason sucks at thumb wars.
Please these are so random 🤠. Anyways wolfboy Jason me thinks *lip bite emoji*

Jercy 9
(since you sent two different ones for the same ship and it’s also a ship someone else had sent in too and I don’t wanna do more than two per ship, so I’m gonna combine the two you sent in into one!)
9: wiping away someone’s tears
13: kissing someone’s forehead
Romans didn't cry. It was one of the earliest lessons Jason had learned. Romans were strong and strong people didn't show weakness – and crying was a weakness. So Jason didn't cry anymore. He had shed his last tears about being an abandoned toddler raised by wolves many years ago. He had gritted his teeth through two wars, knowing he had to concentrate because he was a leader. People, his people, relied on him. If he broke down, New Rome would break down.
So he stood with his head held high, leading the Romans into war, two times. Well, one and a half times, because the second time around he had one foot in the Roman camp and one in the Greek. There was so much pain there. He'd been away from his home for half a year, had his memories erased, had been violated by Hera into believing he was dating a total stranger (though Piper quickly became one of his best friends), had spent months without all of his memories and struggling with being compared to the Percy Jackson, had been reunited with his long-lost sister. Had been cast out by the Romans, replaced with Percy Jackson.
How strange it was that he had started out resenting this picture of Percy Jackson that others painted for him, but then he met Percy himself and quickly fell head over heels in love with the snarky, funny, cute, kind, passionate, strong and simply amazing Sea Prince. They fought side by side, as a united front, a strong team. And one night, on board of the Argo II, they kissed.
Now he had a boyfriend. A very wonderful, loving boyfriend. Maybe the only person coming close to understanding what all Jason had been through – Percy had been stolen by Hera too, had his memories wiped, though he had gone through more there, having to live on the streets. The two shared their trauma and leaned onto each other and they led Romans and Greeks together.
Jason had that plan, of coming out of that war and getting a semi-normal life with Percy. Jason wanted to go to New York, stay at Camp Half-Blood, until his boyfriend would graduate high school and come to New Rome to go to college. He'd get to enjoy Camp Half-Blood, without the pressure of the war. Be with Percy and Piper and Leo. That had been the plan. And then Leo had gone ahead and died, sacrificing himself during the war. And Jason, strong Roman Jason, cried.
A good thing that his boyfriend controlled all waters, because when Jason stood outside and cried, it started raining. Jason didn't do that himself, Percy did. The rain covered Jason's ears and soon after, Percy's hands cupped his face and tilted it so Percy could press a gentle kiss to his forehead.
“You don't always have to be strong,” whispered Percy. “I can be strong for you.”
With a sob did Jason lean forward, hugging Percy tightly and letting the rain wash away his tears.

Has the fandom forgotten?
I feel like the fandom as a whole just tends to completely ignore the fact that Percy is CANONICALLY SUICIDAL. Like, seriously. It doesn’t undermine the fact that Nico and Leo need help dealing with repressed aftereffects of serious trauma at a young age to recognize that Percy needs help too. And, to make matters worse, he has the smallest support system out of the three of them. People acknowledge that Nico and Leo need help and are willing to help them through their emotions. Percy is expected to always be happy and strong for others. Jason and Annabeth are the only people we know to be concerned about the numerous warning signs that Percy shows because he hides them so well and people aren’t looking. In fact, Percy shows more signs of being suicidal (at least that I picked up on) than any other character in HoO. That is not to undermine the suffering of the other characters as they all have gone through quite a bit. Now, you may be saying ‘But Leo literally sacrificed himself’ and I’m not saying we shouldn’t be concerned about the mental states of the other characters, but Percy is less ‘One of us has to die so I guess it’ll be me’ and more ‘I’m just not going to put up a fight. Defenses, nah. I will purposely put myself in unnecessary danger and not protect myself just so long as it doesn’t pose a direct threat to my friends cause I’m a terrible person and deserve only pain.’
And, on the topic of ‘Why is the fandom unconcerned about this?’ is Reyna. To a lesser extent, yes, but that girl is WAY too prepared to sacrifice herself at a moment’s notice.
Also, people seem to forget that Reyna, Leo, and Percy (and quite possibly Annabeth and Thalia too) were abused for years.
And Jason, Hazel, and Frank didn’t have great lives either. Hazel grew up in the Deep South in the ‘30s, Jason was raised by wolves to be a good little soldier and not show any emotion or sign of weakness ever, and Frank lost his mother and his grandmother whom he felt never really cared for him. Oh, and Piper felt uncared for by her father and was basically constantly bullied.
This has turned into a rant on the fandom ignoring certain character’s obvious pain and I have a lot more I could go on about (e.g. Percy’s not stupid) but I don’t have all day. If you have anything you’d like to add feel free to. I really hope the fandom starts to open their eyes to more than just Leo and Nico’s pain (though their pain is very real. Seriously Rick, Nico is not your personal punching bag, please just leave this kid alone. Let him experience safety and happiness for once).

(Y/N)’s POV
The limo came to a halt before the door was opened allowing my older brothers to exit the limo then Finley extended his hand out to Felicity and helped her out, as Eli did to me, I was greeted by the flashes of the paparazzi as my siblings and I posed for them as we made our way into the charity dance,
“Names?” The bouncer asked, my siblings and I exchanged a look and smirked
“I assume you’re joking” Nicholas commented as he took a defensive stance,
“In case a mutt like yourself is-”
“Enough, he’s just doing his job. We’re the (L/N)’s” I say cutting Kieran off, the bouncer quickly checked the list and nodding allowing us in
“Enjoy your evening” He sneered as we walked in,
“Remember, no misbehaving” Eli warned, I rolled my eyes before the host of the dance, Bruce Wayne, approached us,
“Mister Wayne, thank you for inviting us” Felicity greeted as they shook hands,
“It was my pleasure. I see you’ve brought your family along” He said,
“Yes, these are my younger brothers Finley, Eli, Nicholas and Kieran, and my younger sister (Y/N)” Felicity introduced, I gave a small nod towards him,
“My sons are dotted around. I must go welcome other guests” Bruce said before walking off, I jabbed Kieran in the ribs,
“Ow, what was that for?” He questioned glaring at me,
“You called the bouncer a mutt. Do I have to remind you?” I growled, he rolled his eyes “You’re lucky we’re in public” I hissed before walking away from him,
“That was quite brave of you” A male voice commented, I rolled my eyes and turned to the voice,
“And why’s that?” I asked,
“With the tone of your voice I’m guessing you don’t know who I am or what I am. So, I’ll fill you in. Jason Todd” He introduced before leaning closer and revealing his fangs, I raised an eyebrow
“My brothers are vampires, you don’t scare me” I stated,
“You should considering your species” He growled,
“Jason” Another male voice said in a warning tone,
“Replacement” Jason grimace as he turned to the younger male,
“I believe Bruce told you not to drink from the guests” He hissed, Jason rolled his eyes
“See you around, Princess” He smirked before disappearing,
“Apologies for him. I’m Tim, Tim Drake” He introduced,
“(Y/N) (L/N)” I smiled as I held out my hand, he bowed and kissed the back of it,
“It wasn’t you giving the bouncer a hard time, was it?” He asked as he straightened himself, I chuckled
“No that would be my brother; Nicholas and Kieran. Always belittling any other species than vampires” I answered as I shot them a glare, as they watched me from the bar.
“Pity that some have them views” He commented, my eyes widened slightly,
“You don’t despise werewolves or witches?” I questioned, he shook his head
“I have friends that are them” He answered, I hummed, and it fell silent, “I hope you don’t find this rude but what are you?” He asked,
“What do you think I am?” I inquired turning slightly towards him,
“You smell like a human” He answered, I chuckled before I glanced up through the roof window seeing a full moon,
“Did Bruce know it was going to be a full moon?” I asked, Tim’s eyes widened as he looked up to the moon himself,
“Oh no” He mumbled before the doors slammed open and several werewolves came in attacking anyone who got in their way, seconds later Nicholas and Kieran were stood in front of me,
“I can handle myself” I growled,
“You’re human little one” Kieran smirked,
“We intend to keep you that way” Nicholas commented, I rolled my eyes listening in on my conversations, mental note; kick their ass when we get home, the pack came over to us,
“Think we can take them?” Kieran asked,
“I know we can” Nicholas smirked,
“No one’s taking anyone” I hissed as I pushed my way in front of the two, “Enough!” I demanded glaring at the wolves, they cowered away before retreating, everyone just stared at me, I rolled my eyes then lead my siblings out of the building.
***
I was sat in the school’s library studying when someone sat across from me, I raised my head to see Tim giving me a small smile,
“Tim, hi” I greeted,
“How are you (Y/N)?” He asked,
“I’m good, you?” I answered, he nodded
“You were the main topic after the charities event last month” He stated,
“Wouldn’t expect anything else. I mean I am just a weak human who stopped a pack of wolves just by demand” I chuckled,
“Exactly. Some were saying you’re a powerful witch” He said,
“That’s my sister” I retort, he hummed
“You are a mystery, (Y/N)” he commented, I smiled
“Well, I suppose it would be up to you to solve it then” I reply, his eyes widened slightly as a blushed covered his cheeks, I quickly wrote down my number and passed it him as I stood up, “In case you want to” I whispered placing a kiss on his cheek and leaving him as the final bell rang, I walked out to meet whomever was picking me up today, I rolled my eyes as I found it to be Finley,
“Get in” He ordered as he got in himself,
“Hello to you too brother” I sneer as I got in, we arrived home and was greeted by yelling as we walked in,
“What do you mean she’s no good for you?!” Felicity screamed, as we walked into the front room, to find her on the phone,
“I’ll leave you to deal with that” I smirk before I vanished to my room, my phone vibrated making me raise an eyebrow as I looked at the screen.
‘Unknown; Coffee tomorrow @ 11?’ I smiled knowing exactly who it was, so I added him to my contacts underneath the name; ‘Tim’,
‘Decided to solve the mystery then?’ I send back,
’Can’t stay away from a good mystery. So, are we on? Perhaps we could include lunch’ he replied,
‘Moving a little fast, Timmy’ I reply, smirking as I could see his flustered face,
‘I didn’t mean anything by it. I’m sorry’ he replied,
‘I’m teasing you. Relax, I’d love to join you for coffee and lunch. Jitter’s?’ I reply,
‘Of course. I’ll see you tomorrow, (Y/N)’ ‘See you tomorrow Tim’ I reply.
***
“What do you mean you can’t pick me up?!” I yelled down the phone,
“Honestly (Y/N), you don’t have to yell. I can hear you perfectly fine when you whisper” Kieran groaned,
“I don’t care. You said you were going to pick me up” I snapped,
“Get your boyfriend to bring you home” He argued, I glanced over to Tim who was getting into his Red Robin suit,
“Tim’s busy, that’s why I wanted you to pick me up in the first place. So, stop eyeing that slut and come pick me up” I growled,
“What? How did you even know that I was eyeing someone” He asked, I rolled my eyes
“You forget that I’m your sister and know you the best out of all of our siblings” I scoffed, a low growl came from the background making me sigh, “Nicholas is there isn’t he?” I asked,
“I am” He growled,
“Which bar are you at? I might as well join you, so I could get home some way” I groaned,
“Like you have to ask” Kieran scoffed,
“You realise that if she was your mate she’d also detect it” I sighed,
“Not if she’s a witch” Nicholas sneered,
“A witch? I’m coming immediately” I assert before hanging up and turning around to find Tim in his Red Robin suit, I smiled as he pulled me into a kiss,
“I’ll watch you from the roofs” He stated,
“I’m capable of watching out for myself, love” I say,
“Now, what sort of vigilante boyfriend would I be if I didn’t ensure my wonderful girlfriend’s safety?” He smiled, I sighed in defeat
“Fine. But you have to be at least three rooftops away from me” I assert,
“Deal” He beamed giving me another kiss before I made my way to the bar where Nicholas and Kieran were, I turned on to the street where the bar was, only to be met with a pack of werewolves,
“Hello princess” the alpha cooed as he stepped forward, I growled and flashed my wolf eyes making his eyes widened in fear as he back off, “Apologies. As you were” He apologised as he moved out of the way along with his pack, I arrived outside the bar,
“See you tomorrow Tim. Love you” I say looking at his shadow figure on the roof,
“I love you too” He replied, not knowing I could hear him as I walked into the bar, I immediately spotted Kieran and Nicholas and went over to them,
“Where’s this ‘mate’ that you constantly eye up, brother?” I asked as I removed Tim’s my hoodie and set it on the bar stool, “I’ll have what they’re having” I say to the bartender mentioning my brothers,
“She’s there” Nicholas answered pointing to a corner, where a blonde was sat having a drinking competition with a bulkier male, I chuckled as the male dropped on to the table making her smirk as she knocked back her final shot,
“She can hold her drink. I approve” I comment as I sipped my own drink,
“She sure can” Nicholas agreed,
“Why don’t you go have a competition against her?” I questioned,
“She’s surrounded by bodyguards, if they even catch a whiff that I’m heading in her direction they’ll pounce” Kieran stated as he pointed to her bodyguards, I hummed before I caught a stake that was thrown at me, I inspected it and sighed,
“We’ve out-stayed our welcome” I note as I handed the stake on to my brothers,
“Indeed. Let’s go” Nicholas agreed as we knocked back the remaining of our drinks, grabbed our jackets/hoodies before making our way to the exit, only to be blocked by several vampires and werewolves,
“You realise that your supposed to be enemies” Kieran commented,
“Enough” I growled as I glanced around the room,
“Don’t worry sister. We’ll handle this” Nicholas said as he placed me between himself and Kieran as they took defensive stances, I rolled my eyes
“You realise that I’m stronger” I sighed before they kicked off fighting, I was observing them fighting before I was pulled backwards and held in a headlock,
“Stop! Or your little sister dies!” They demanded, my brothers stopped and were pushed on to their knees as a stake was held to their hearts, I sighed
“Do you have any idea who we are?” I asked,
“You are originals” A female voice answered, I turned to see the blonde witch from earlier, “What I want to know is why are you in my bar?” She questioned coming over to me and lifting my chin up,
“Would you care to tell her Kieran? Or shall I?” I asked tilting my head to look at him around her.
“Oh, I know that we’re mates darling. The names Lydia by the way” She smiled at him, also sending him a wink, I growled getting irritated,
“You bore me. So, let me go before these walls are decorated with your friends blood” Nicholas threatened, no one moved making me sigh before I bite into the arm of whoever had hold of me making them yelled out in pain before I grabbed Lydia and bit into her neck, drinking some of her blood, then I was pinned against the wall by Kieran, who was baring his fangs out at me,
“Don’t touch her” He growled, I smirked
“Why not? Her blood tastes amazing” I torment as I threw him off me and got the creatures off Nicholas and speeding out of there.
Tim’s POV
I flopped down into my desk chair just as Jason sent me a message, I raised an eyebrow and opened it, it was a video and the thumbnail was of (Y/N), I watched it and my jaw hung open as I watched it,
‘Where did you get this?’ I asked,
‘I was in the bar while it happened. Still think your innocent little princess is human?’ he replied, I rolled my eyes as I could tell he was smirking, I pocketed my phone and made my way to the garage before driving to (Y/N)’s house, I knocked on the door and was greeted by Felicity,
“Tim” She greeted,
“Is (Y/N) here?” I asked, she nodded
“She’s up in her room. Come in” She said as she welcomed me inside, I followed Felicity upstairs and outside (Y/N)’s room, “I’ll leave you both” She said before wandering elsewhere, I knocked on the door and went in,
“What?” She snapped turning around, her posture immediately changed when she realise it was me as a smile came on to her face, “Tim, what are you doing here?” She asked coming towards me,
“Stop” I demanded as I glared at her, she raised an eyebrow “You lied to me” I state, her eyes widened before she covered it up by putting on her poker-face,
“No I haven’t” She lied, I scoffed and took out my phone before showing her the video, “Tim let me explain” She said as I put it away,
“Explain?! You lied to me! I trusted you with everything! Yet you couldn’t tell me that you’re a vampire! An original at that!” I yelled,
“I’m a hybrid” She said,
“What?” I asked,
“A hybrid. Part werewolf, part vampire” She repeated, I scoffed
“Unbelievable! We’re done!” I snap as I walked towards the door, she appeared in front of me, stopping me in my tracks,
“What? Why?” She asked,
“You lied to me this whole time. God knows what else you’ve lied about” I say moving her out of the way and out of her room, down the stairs to the front door,
“Tim please!” She begged as she chased me,
“I gave you countless times to tell me (Y/N)! I don’t want to see you again” I state before leaving the house and going back to the manor.
***
(Y/N)’s POV
“(Y/N), w-Oh my god” Felicity gasped as she and Finley came into my room, I glared at them,
“What?” I asked as I pushed the males neck away from me,
“What happened?” She asked coming over to me as Finley escorted the male out of my room,
“Tim found out” I answered as I wiped my mouth clean,
“Oh (Y/N)” She sighed giving me a sympathetic look,
“Y’know for a moment, I thought I found my mate. I thought Tim was the one” I sighed, a flash of guilt went over her face making me raise an eyebrow
“W-what makes you think that?” She stuttered making me grow more curious,
“I felt a pull towards him. What did you do?” I asked,
“I didn’t do anything” she quickly replied, I growled and pinned her against the wall by her throat
“Don’t lie to me!” I bellowed as I bared my fangs at her before I was thrown off her and Finley stood in front of Felicity, who was on the verge of tears,
“I’m sorry” She croaked,
“You put a spell on me, so I couldn’t find my mate. Didn’t you?” I asked, she nodded
“Not just you. All of us” She corrected,
“Well, Kieran found his, so it didn’t work that well” I scoffed,
“That’s because I focused more on you when we came here. I knew that Tim was yours” She admitted,
“Undo it” I growled,
“I won’t. It’s for the best. If Father-”
“Michael’s not going to do sh*t!” I snap as I tried to get her, only for Eli to intervene and hold me back, “Let me go” I growled as I thrashed at his grip.
“Felicity, even though you had good intentions. Keeping us from our mates was not wise” Eli stated,
“Sister, undo the spell” Finley begged, she shook her head
“I’m not strong enough to remove it” She commented,
“They’re a hundred and something witches within Gotham surely you can channel them” I argue, she shook her head, I went to say something but stopped myself,
“What?” Felicity asked,
“I know someone who will. Come on” I say pulling myself from Eli’s grip and leading them out of the house and to Lydia’s bar, we walked in and everyone immediately went into defensive mode,
“My dear siblings. What a surprise” Kieran commented as he came forwards,
“Easy. We’re not here to fight” I say standing in front of him,
“You didn’t plan to fight last time. Look what happened” He retorted, I looked away from him and tensed up when I noticed Tim with Stephanie, I quickly averted my gaze,
“We need Lydia’s help” I state,
“Why would she help you?! You ripped into her neck last time” He argued,
“Kieran this isn’t the time or place for this conversation” Eli warned,
“Why not? I mean she did hurt his mate” Nicholas asked as he stood next to Kieran,
“You’re making matters work Nicholas” Finley commented,
“Oh shut up mother’s boy” Kieran spat making Finley growl as he went to step forward, but Felicity stopped him, I rolled my eyes before pushing past Nicholas and Kieran,
“Lydia! We need to speak!” I yell as I looked around for her, I was immediately pinned against the wall by Kieran, baring his fangs out at me,
“You’re not talking to anyone” he growled, I sighed before kicking him off me and pinning his face against the wall,
“Enough. Enough” Lydia said as she came from a room in the back, “I’m curious what you want” She continued, I let go of Kieran and walked over to her,
“We need your help” I state mentioning my siblings, she hummed
“Follow me” She said and we all did, “Now what do you need help with?” She asked as she sat down,
“We need you to remove a spell that someone can’t remove” I say, glancing at Felicity,
“I have the spell ready. It’s just that I need assistance with it” Felicity added,
“Well aren’t you lucky I’m feeling generous” Lydia said as Felicity handed her the spell equipment, they performed the spell, “It’s done” Lydia stated before I heard a crash outside, my eyes widened as I went outside into the bar and froze in my steps,
“Michael” I muttered, his head snapped towards me and a smirk appeared on his face,
“The bastard child” He commented,
“Father” Nicholas greeted as my siblings surrounded me before I fell unconscious.
***
“I demand you let us go!” Kieran’s voice yelled as I came conscious again, to see that we were all chained against a wall as Michael sat in a wooden chair in the middle of the room,
“Demanding’s not going to get you anywhere” Eli commented,
“Oh, sorry would you care for me to use my manners you formal asshole!” Kieran raged, I sighed
“You’re awfully quiet girl” Michael sneered as he stood up, I looked at him
“I’ve accepted my fate Michael” I answered,
“Well aren’t you a ball of joy” He scoffed,
“It’s been a fun 1000 plus years” I reply,
“So you wouldn’t mind if I tell my associate to go through with the plan on killing your mate?” He asked, I growled and pulled at the chains
“Don’t touch him” I snarled as I struggled against the chains, he chuckled
“There’s the fight that I wanted” He smirked as he dialed someone,
“Hello?” Stephanie answered making my eyes widened,
“Do it” Michael demanded,
“I’ll call you when it’s done” She replied before hanging up,
“Now, Felicity my lovely child. Say goodbye” Michael said as he went up to her,
“Father stop! Please!” Finley begged as he thrashed against his chains,
“Go to hell” Felicity spat before Michael ripped out her heart,
“No!” We all screamed in unison, I hung my head
“Don’t worry. You’ll be joining her soon” Michael announced making me sigh as I let my wolf side come out, I easily snapped out of the chains and dropped on to my feet making Michael turn around and smile, “I’m going to enjoy this” He cackled as he bared his fangs at me, we charged at each other, he went to punch me but I ducked under his arm and twisted it creating a snap as he let out a small yell, I kicked the back of his knee making another crack echo as he fell on to his knee as it held him in a headlock,
“Killing me not going to solve your problems girl!” He chuckled,
“Perhaps not…but I can make you suffer” I smirk as I bared my own fangs and buried them into his shoulder making him scream in pain as I injected my werewolf toxins into him, I pulled away and kicked him to the ground before going over to my brothers and breaking their restraints,
“You did well” Eli said as he placed a hand on my shoulder,
“Yeah she did great but if she stop with the whole glowing wolf eyes that’d be great” Nicholas said, I glared at him before sighing and doing what he wanted. “Now, go save your boyfriend” He smiled ruffling my hair, my eyes widened as I remembered and sped out of the building, I managed to locate them and followed them across the rooftops as Stephanie lead him into werewolf territory, they went down a back alley and came to a stop,
“Steph, what are we doing here?” Tim asked as he looked around before there was growling and they were surrounded by werewolves,
“Sorry it had to happen this way Tim” She said as she stood with the alpha,
“Steph, what are you on about?” He asked before he was tackled by one of the wolves, he was preventing the wolf from biting him making me growl as I jumped down, tackling the wolf off of Tim, I stood in front of him protectively as I growled at the pack “(Y/N)?” Tim said with disbelief as he stood up,
“Now listen carefully, you’re going to leave immediately and if I catch wind that you’ve tried attacking him again your head will no longer be attached to your shoulders. Understood?” I ordered, none of them backed down making me sigh as I brought my wolf out, again, “I’m not going to say it again” I warned as I glared at them all, they whimpered before retreating, leaving Tim and myself in the alley, “Was that the werewolf friend you told me about when we first met?” I asked, slightly turning to him, he nodded.
“One of them” He answered, I hummed, and it fell quiet between us, “(Y/N), can you look at me?” He asked, I raised an eyebrow
“Why? You made it quite clear that you didn’t want to see me” I say,
“Just look at me. Please” He sighed, I turned to face him, he smiled “Beautiful” He muttered as he placed a hand on my cheek, I leaned into it closing my eyes, “I’m sorry, (Y/N). I should’ve let you explain” He apologised,
“Would you let me now?” I asked looking at him, he nodded
“Over dinner?” he asked, I chuckled and nodded
“Over dinner” I agreed, he smiled and planted a kiss on my forehead before we left the alley.

The fog had started rolling in already at 10pm, the perfect setting for a murder. Well if this wasn't Riverdale anyway.
Neon lights called me closer and closer to Pop's, the only place I wanted to be while the rest of my friends were at the back-to-school semi-formal.
All but one.
As the bell jingled over my head, I beamed at Pop and quickly bounced over to the counter to place my order. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted the familiar beanie, making my way to his table.
I fell into the booth, slapping my book down trying to elicit some reaction from the boy in front of me.
"How? Every single time, you know its me. How?!" My hands slapped the table in defeat. Slumping back I waited not so patiently for an explanation.
"You aren't exactly the most quiet person. Besides, you're the only girl I know who orders two burgers with fries - having every intention of eating it all yourself." Eyes finally met mine over the laptop screen, smirk in full view.
I rolled my eyes, "And I'd actually get to eat all of it too if you didn't steal the other burger." I huffed but my pouting was interrupted by the waitress bringing food to the table.
Two milkshakes, two burgers, and a large fry for us to split. Jughead's eyes lit up and his computer was all but thrown away from him.
I giggled and shook my head at him before being lost in my own burger. This had become a bit of a tradition for us over the summer.
With Archie working for his dad, and skipping out on the road trip Jug was more of a loner than usual.
Then Betty being overly involved in her internship, I had a new appreciation for lone wolves.
Don't get me wrong, I was super excited for Betty to get her internship. But there is only so much one can hear about the same 'amazing and life changing' experience before you just zone out.
I just didn't have the energy to feign excitement anymore.
After the food was gone, we settled in for the rest of our routine. Jughead typed while I consumed another book.
"What genre tonight?"
The mumbled sentence made me glance at Jughead before looking back to the book, "Dystopian. Zombie apocalypse."
The only response I received was a smirk and a head shake.
Right when the heroine was about to have her face eaten by a gruesome zombie, the bell over the door jingled again.
Instantly the relaxed mood at our table shifted, Jug's entire body tensed and for once his eyes stayed off the computer screen.
Must be Archie then.
Taking that as my cue, I put my book mark in and closed the book. I nudged Jughead with my foot and nodded a goodbye to him once his eyes met mine.
I gave Archie a brief smile and went to the counter to pay for tonight's meal. After blowing a kiss to Pop I glanced at the clock over his shoulder and realized I had spent two hours with Jug.
Wanting to smack myself I ran to the corner mart, quickly bought some non-perishable food and a few snacks. I made sure to grab a big bottle of flavored water for myself and quickly made my way out of the store.
The kid behind the counter was probably cussing me out for coming in after closing, but I only made him wait an extra five minutes. A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.
I held one bag in each hand, knowing that even double bagged they probably weren't going to last the walk to the trailer park.
Fog had settled thickly through the small town, though I'm not sure why I was surprised.
The hair on the back of my neck stood up like someone was watching me.
"Don't glance over your shoulder. Don't glance over your shoulder. You are just paranoid Celeste. This is not a horror movie, this is Riverdale."
"I think you're on the wrong side of the tracks there Dollface." A husky voice called from right behind me.
"Fuck!" Both bags met the ground with a thud and liquid fear coursed through my body, my hands balled into fists and I  spun around to face the voice.
A boy just about my age stood a few feet behind me, smirk twisting his lips in an appealing way. Well, if he hadn't just scared the piss out of me anyway.
"On this side of the tracks it is a horror movie, Dollface."
I scoffed and raised my middle finger up to him. "I don't care what horror movie you just rolled out of, I need to get all of this to FP's trailer before he gets home and now I have absolutely no chance of that happening."
I paused to look at the busted bags and looked up at the sky, in that moment Riverdale had finally defeated me.
"How do you know FP?"
His voice was closer now, I flicked my eyes over to him finally realizing just how tall he is since I could see him without moving my head. That, and he was a lot closer than I expected.
"Not that it's any of your business, Freddy Krueger, but I know his son. I also know that FP doesn't exactly go grocery shopping." I waved my hand at the bags in a condescending way.
The smirk had yet to leave his face and when I finally straightened up I came face to face with the Serpent on his leather jacket.
Of-fucking-course.
"Sweet Pea."
I put my hands on my hips, enacting a false bravado, "That better not be another pet name Jason."
This time he actually laughed. If I thought he was attractive before, now with a grin covering his face he was absolutely beautiful. Heart stopping, butterflies in the stomach, daydream worthy gorgeous.
Without noticing a smile had made its way onto my face and a little giggle escaped my throat.
What the fuck, I don't fucking giggle.
"That's my name, Dollface." He knelt down and started picking up the groceries. Well just gathering them together and grabbing anything that had rolled away.
I was completely confused. As a northsider I fully anticipated a few threats about staying on my side of town. Not that I actually thought the northsiders were better than southsiders...but if you hear something enough you start to believe it.
Damn Alice Cooper and her brainwashing, and damn me for letting it work.
"Wait here and I'll be right back." His grin made me nod my head without questioning him.
As he disappeared into the fog I fumbled for the phone in my pocket.
To: Mom Hey, a problem getting the bags to FP. At the trailer now, will be home soon.
From: Mom That's fine sweetheart. Have a ride home?
To: Mom Yes, friend from school is helping me out. I'll lock up when I get home.
From: Mom Be safe darling.
By the time that conversation was finished a matte black pick up had pulled up beside me.
Sweet Pea got out with a few extra grocery bags balled up in his hands. Without words he handed me the bags one by one I shook them out to open them and he filled the bags as I held them.
He loaded them into the back of the truck and opened the passenger door, giving me an expectant look. I just raised one eyebrow in question, expecting some form of communication before I just hopped in his truck.
"I'll take you to FP's. You might want to hurry though, he's going to be leaving the Whyte Wyrm soon." His tone of voice was a challenge in itself, one I found myself answering.
I walked towards him and the truck before stopping right before him and making eye contact, "Celeste. Celeste Daniels. Not Dollface."
Another smile split his face and before I could fall under its spell, I hopped into the truck. I watched him walk around the truck like a hungry predator, tracking his movements and trying to anticipate what he would do next.
"And, if you're giving me a ride to FP's you might as well take me home afterwards." I casually informed him making him pause in starting the truck.
This time he scoffed and shook his head at me. I seem to be getting that reaction a lot tonight.
The drive was silent, but by the time we reached the trailer I couldn't take the silence anymore. It's one thing with Jughead, but something completely different with someone I don't actually know.
"At the risk of sound like a complete idiot, other than the obvious reasons, how do you know FP?"
The question just popped out while we were putting away the canned goods and snacks. I avoided eye contact and grabbed a cold water bottle out of the fridge and set it on the counter. Following that I searched the cabinet above the sink for the pain killers. Standing on my tip toes I could feel the bottle just out of my reach.
"Dammit!" I was still trying desperately to reach the bottle when I felt a hand on my waist making my body turn to stone. I stopped breathing and physically couldn't move. Heat soaked in through my shirt as a tan hand reached past mine to grab the medicine bottle.
His warm breath caressed my ear as he set the bottle beside the water on the counter, "Just the obvious reasons."
We stood there together for a few seconds until he moved away and my body turned into jelly, long gone was the stone and my limbs felt like they lacked bones. Once I finally pulled myself together, I walked passed Sweet Pea to the fridge again and grabbed a beer. I twisted the top off and took a large drink, letting out a heavy sigh in relaxation before I turned back to him.
I gave a little shrug, "He won't need it by the time he gets home."
He gave a little nod to acknowledge what I said but didn't seem in a talkative mood.
I had gotten through half the bottle before he opened his mouth again, "So if you don't want FP to know, why do you do it?"
I gave him the simple answer, "Because of his son, Jughead."
This didn't seem to be the answer he was looking for, he actually seemed disappointed for a moment before he was back to his stoic face.
In a moment of utter weakness, I chugged the rest of the beer and placed the bottle on the bar with the rest of them. I guess I just wanted to put that smile back on his face, the one that made me weak in the knees.
"This summer, well my best friend Betty had an internship." He scoffed, interrupting me. "I know, typical 'northsider' overachieving. I know. But it happened. Then Archie, Jughead's best friend, kind of ditched him. So Jughead and I hung out for most of the summer and he became my best friend." I shrugged and leaned back on the counter again, looking up into his eyes.
He came over to lean beside me, just far enough away so we didn't touch. But it seemed like it was his way of telling me to continue. So I did, I explained that when I found out how much FP was drinking and when I noticed he started to lose weight I decided I'd start dropping food off to him.
"He caught me the first few times, said he didn't need charity. But its not charity, Jughead is like my brother so in some weird way I consider FP family. In my family we always take care of each other." I rambled on and by the time I finished and realized how much I told a complete stranger, a deep blush settled on my cheeks.
I felt a rumble through the counter and turned my head to see Sweet Pea chuckling, a large smile covering his face. I felt a smile stretch my lips and I considered his smile a huge accomplishment.
My phone buzzed in my back pocket making me jump and laughter escape Sweet Pea. I gave him a sharp smack to the chest as punishment for laughing at me and to hide my embarrassment.
I pulled the phone out of my pocket to see two texts.
From: Mom Are you sure you don't need a ride?
From: Juggie Where are you?
The time was almost 2am. I shot a quick text to Jug saying I was on my way home. But when I looked over at Sweet Pea he already had his keys in his hand.
"Lets go." He started walking for the door and I kind of panicked and didn't want to leave.
So I did the first thing I could think of and grabbed his hand, "Wait! Are you actually taking me home? Because I can walk, o-or get someone else to come get me."
He just held onto my hand tighter and pulled me out of the trailer.
After I was settled in and Sweet Pea had shut the door, I quickly sent my mom a text.
To: Mom On my way now. Details tomorrow?
From: Mom Promise?
To: Mom Promise.
"That your boyfriend?" Sweet Pea asked as the truck sped down the road. It was sad that you could tell instantly when you had crossed from the south-side to the north-side of the town. The surroundings definitely gave it away, it’s like the town was trying to let the south-side fade away.
"Pfft, no. That was my mom, I don't have a boyfriend. I guess like you, everyone thinks I'm dating Jug or something." I mumbled the last part and flipped through a few radio stations before figuring out that there is nothing good on the radio at 2am.
"I was just curious. No need to bite my head off." he shot back but the look on his face let me know he was joking, so I gave him a good hit on his arm this time.
"No hitting the driver! You could have killed us!"
I lightly tapped his shoulder like he was a good puppy, "If you have such little confidence in your driving skills, you probably shouldn't be driving."
He grabbed my hand and held it down on the seat between us, "Or you could just stop hitting me."
The warmth from his hand helped to keep mine warm, I didn't pull my hand away but internally I was FREAKING out. Is he holding my hand? Does he know that he's holding my hand? Why am I all tingly? I am NOT a virgin and this silly boy with his silly name and his stupid smile are making me act like I'm a fucking bashful virgin. I need to get out.
So I was nervous, sue me. In between giving him directions, I was rambling.
"So I guess I'll have to bag my own stuff the next time I shop for FP, left here. Well I'll just have to make sure that I don't go in after they close, maybe then the cashier won't be so pissed at me. Next right."
When we finally made it to the house, all the lights were off but the porch light.
"Do you always talk this much, or is this special for me?" His smirk was back, obviously he could tell I was nervous. Asshole.
"Yes, I talk this much. Often. All the time. No. Not usually." The last was mumbled quietly and I refused to make eye contact with him.
When I peaked up at him he had that gorgeous smile on his face again and I couldn't help but to grin back.
Sweet Pea snatched my phone and started typing away while I sat quietly in shock. When he handed it back, it was open to a new contact page with all his information typed it.
But he gave me the option of saving it or not. That was surprisingly sweet.
I bit my bottom lip while I hit the back button on his name. Hit one letter and save. Sweets.
"Call me the next time you get stuff for FP and I'll drive you." His tone changed completely and was almost shy, it made my heart melt.
Here I was in a car with a boy that someone like Alice Cooper would tell me is trash and not to be trusted, but for me he was like my knight in shining armor. At least for this night anyway.
I nodded and gave his hand a squeeze before opening the door, before he could try doing it for me.
"I'll think about it. See you later Sweets." I gave him a quick wink and shot out of the truck like my ass was on fire.
I fought with myself the entire way up the walk way, just don't turn around. I made it half way. Up the stairs, with my hand on the door knob I turned to wave as the truck quietly pulled away from the curb.
While faintly I heard “Soon Dollface!”

His breaths were hastened by his need to escape his pursuers. The unfamiliar terrain threw everything in his path, determined it make the wolf’s escape harder. A sudden misstep, he slipped into a branch whose claw-like branches grabbed onto his charcoal black hide, ripping off clumps of hair and drawing blood. Injured and tired yet unfazed by everything thrown at him, the wolf darted left to right, up and around all obstacles of the forest while his pursuers, a squad of four ash gray wolves, were unyielding in their hunt.
The pursuers and the pursued entered a clearing in the forest. Every tree and leaf was a new experience for all the wolves and their instincts took over to adapt. Massive logs were scattered in a disorganized heap in front of the black wolf; he pounced on one stacked on top of another. The pursuing wolves followed, shifting the balancing to one size and knocking the log off its motionless position. The black wolf jumped off as the log tipped to one size with the other wolves still on top. It only made their eyes thirstier.
Desperation apparent in the black wolf’s pace, he threw himself through a prickly bush. Thorns sharp as knives buried into his flesh with ease. He let out whimpers of his agony. But he was seemingly free at last; the other wolves refused to injure themselves. They gave a howl before turning back. He waited for them to leave completely before moving.
The leaves on the bush were stained with the black wolf’s blood. The thorns that pierced his skin were broken off and left inside to cause him pain as he moved. Small whimpers out of impulse echoed through the forest trees. Lost, every twig and leaf seemed to bewilder the injured creature, leading him to further unknown, until suddenly a landmark caught its amber eyes. The tip of the mountain spotted the wolf and he instinctively limped towards it. His hearing seemed to have been damaged as it could hear the commotion that awaited him beyond the brush.
“Come on again!” Onyx shouted in a drill sergeant fashion.
Bixbite panted against the tree she leaned on, her face dripping with she wasn’t always aware she had. She punched the bark and charged for her friend, arms out forward like a bull’s horns. Onyx braced to dodge; Bixbite fired two beams from her outstretched arms that blocked Onyx’s escape. Bixbite closed in; it looked to be a sure victory. But Onyx leapt into the air, flipped, and landed behind her attacker. Onyx kicked the back of her heel on Bixbite’s leg, tripping her.
           “Ow—whoo ow!” Bixbite whimpered.
The expression of intimidation and steel solid on Onyx broke out of concern. “Bixbite, are you okay?! I—I didn’t mean to—not that hard—! I—I just wanted—” She scrambled, nearly crying.
The magenta Gem pushed against the ground to stand upright. “I’m—fine—come—on.”
           “No, that’s enough for today.”
“What? No, please, Onyx I want to get better with my powers!” Bixbite protested, acting like her normal, soft-spirited self, which Onyx was glad to see again.
Earlier that morning Bixbite suddenly asked Onyx to help her train. It took some prodding but Onyx finally agreed to train her Bixbite in the harshest way possible. By midday they began actually training—the rest of the time was spent with Onyx unable to treat Bixbite with anything less than unyielding love and affection.
“No,” repeated Onyx, firm. “Training also means when to start and when to stop. If you exhaust your body you might poof yourself and you’ll end up losing all your progress. It…happened to me once so I learned the hard way.”
Bixbite dropped on the ground, pouting like a cranky child.
“Come on, don’t be like that, Bix. We’ll get more training first thing tomorrow morning.”
She fell backwards to the ground, her hair acting as a bed under her. The grass could not reach Bixbite’s head, so hardly felt the solid ground, and as she rolled on her side to face away from Onyx her hair was free of any loose blades of grass, remaining flawless—as Onyx would describe it.
“Why did you want to start training anyway, Bix?” Onyx asked, sitting down next to her.
“I want to be strong like you, Onyx. Now that I have my powers I bet I could be just as tough as you are,” said Bixbite. She crumbled into a magenta ball. “I wanted to train a few days ago but I got lazy because Jason had that cake he gave us. And then Steven came for a visit and I got tired the next day—so I wanted to start now.”
“But you are strong, Bix. You blasted Alabaster and Pearl that time we fought them.”
Bixbite’s small smile didn’t last for very long. “But that was luck. I wanna be able to get total control of my powers. That way I can protect you too.”
Onyx blushed. It seemed like Bixbite gave Onyx more and more compliments each day since they kissed. The most was probably thirty compliments in a single day, and truthfully Onyx never tired of hearing them. Bixbite felt a warm chill run up her spine; Onyx petted her head, the silk-like magenta strands brushing against her hand. The sensation was so pleasant, Bixbite briefly let out her own version of a cat’s purr, smiling with bliss. Onyx noticed it quickly; she dug her fingers into her hair, tapping the back of Bixbite’s neck with the ends of her fingers. Bixbite jumped with a yelp.
“Oh, so a Bixbite’s weakness is her neck?” Onyx grinned wide with devilish intent.
“N-No!” Bixbite rolled away, putting her arms up defensively. “You better not, Onyx.”
Onyx cracked her fingers and neck. All sorts of torture were written all over her face and none were the least bit waiting for Bixbite to give consent to them. Bixbite gulped. Onyx pounced; Bixbite fought back like a cat trying to escape a cage, but her small frame wasn’t couldn’t break free of Onyx’s larger, muscled body, whose arm alone was enough to trap her. Her body shut down when Bixbite felt a gentle breath on her neck. She whimpered from the overpowering sensation.
             “C-Come o-on—O-nyx—kn-ock i-it off,” pleaded Bixbite.
The black Gem had no intention at all to stop. Instead, Onyx hoisted Bixbite off the ground in her arms. She didn’t say what was going to happen, but the lustful and mischievous expression her face said it for her. Bixbite feared for her safety.
Onyx stayed silent the entire walk back to the cave, which was her way of torturing Bixbite by keeping her in perpetual suspense. Bixbite was paralyzed the entire time like a capture animal, only dreading what her captor had in mind. When she saw the limestone mountain and their cave, Bixbite shivered. But Onyx stopped suddenly. She set Bixbite down and pinned herself against the wall and motioning to Bixbite to do the same.
           “What’s wrong?” Bixbite asked.
“I sense someone inside the cave,” whispered Onyx.
Bixbite lowered her voice. “Do you think its Green Pearl or the Peridots?”
Onyx pressed her ear to the limestone wall. She heard the faintest rumble echoing from the cave through the walls. The distance between Onyx and the cave made it difficult to hear completely, but Onyx could faintly make out two pairs of feet walking inside. She showed Bixbite two fingers, which Bixbite understood but not the signal—a clench fist—to move. She followed Onyx as she moved. The two rushed into the cave.
To their surprise the two pairs of feet Onyx heard belonged to the one black wolf. His snout was digging into the rocks and he heard the two of them spring out from hiding and block the entrance. It froze.
“What is that?” Onyx sighed, lowering her shoulders when there wasn’t an enemy to fight.
“I…don’t…know,” stuttered Bixbite. She was stricken, enamored by the animal she’d never seen before. “Golly.”
Its bushy tail, sharp ears, long snout, and fluffy cheeks were everything Bixbite adored in her animals. Her cheeks were puffed with expanding joy because never before had she seen all those traits combined into one animal. An overpowering urge to hold the animal in her arms control Bixbite to hold her arms out. With a drooling expression on her face she began to close in on him, but Onyx quickly grabbed her collar to keep her in place.
When the two blocking the entrance showed no signs of being a threat, the wolf went back to digging around. Already Onyx was annoyed she was ignored so easily. The animal dug around and threw objects over his head, all of which belonged to Onyx. He threw a small mirror Bixbite gave Onyx on their second visit to Wheat Town, a half-empty lipstick container Bixbite gave her on one visit to Jason’s house, but nothing alarmed Onyx more than seeing the wolf hold the bubble Plum in its jaws, only to toss her over its shoulder like the rest. Onyx recoiled as the bubble bounced against the ground on its landing. Her extended fingers—to grab the bubble—balled into fists.
“Hey—thing, get out!” Onyx ordered, stumped on what to call it for a moment.
“But…it’s so…fluff,” stuttered Bixbite in a daze.
The wolf bore its fangs, showing Bixbite a rougher side she wasn’t expecting. He snarled at them with a fire erupting in its amber eyes, and Onyx responded with a crack of her fingers and making her muscles engorge, showing him her snarling rage. Suddenly the two were locked a stand off. Despite the wolf’s smaller size he would not yield to the black Gem, and Onyx was cautious seeing its resilience.
“S-Stop it, you two, don’t fight!” Bixbite wailed.
Neither of them heard Bixbite. They wouldn’t listen if they did. The wolf made the first move, charging while its jaws opened to bite because it did not have the energy to pounce. Onyx saw it going for her legs; she slammed her hand on the back of hid neck and pinned it to the floor. He thrashed around, snarling and snapping his fangs, fruitlessly. Onyx tightened her grip and the animal let out a small whimper out of pain; Bixbite recoiled out of pity. Onyx raised the wolf up to her eye-level, holding it with a firm grip as he continued to wriggle free.
“This thing,” Onyx started, squinting her eyes to see every little detail on his face, “is strange.”
“But it’s so…fluff,” said Bixbite reaching out to touch him, but retracted when he snapped at her.
“It’s got an attitude, I don’t like it. I’ll get rid of it.” Onyx carried it outside. Bixbite worried for its safety.
Onyx pulled the wolf behind her as she took a stance like she was about to throw a javelin. The afternoon sunlight revealed the wolf’s injuries that were hidden inside the cave. Bixbite saw the bruises and the scratches and immediately rushed to Onyx.
“No, you can’t throw it!” Bixbite ordered.
“Why not?” She inquired maintaining the throwing stance.
“Animals don’t like it when you throw them!” Bixbite spoke from experience. Onyx stayed her hand for another moment. “Besides its hurt.”
“Hurt?”
Onyx took a closer look and saw the mark beneath its fur and the many, many thorns sticking to his fur. In spite of all its injuries, and shortness of breath which made him pause in between snarls to catch his breath, the wolf fought to get free. In that moment, for a brief second, Onyx felt something a new empathy for it. That empathy loosened her grip and when her guard was down, the wolf at last broke free and escaped into the forest.
“Hey—”
“Wait!” Onyx called out before Bixbite could, surprising her.
The wolf limped as fast as it could into the brush. He kept himself low to the ground and hid amongst the bigger bushes, though Onyx and Bixbite could still see him shifting through them.
Bixbite started after it, but Onyx pulled her back. “Wait, we should follow it.”
“But why? We need to help it right away!”
“No. It’s a warrior, and a warrior won’t stop until it’s finished its mission. Wherever it’s going that’s its mission. I want to see.”
Bixbite gave a pause. A fire she did not recognize was burning in Onyx’s eyes while the rest of her body shivered in anticipation. She jumped into the forest floor and followed the rustling bushes with eagerness. Bixbite was too surprised for words; she followed behind.
The wolf wasn’t an oblivious, as Onyx predicted. His ears perked hearing Onyx and Bixbite who walked with a snail’s pace to ensure they didn’t make any noise, but the wolf heard them just as soon as they left the cave. Far ahead, when the movement ceased, Onyx stopped herself and Bixbite from taking another step. He didn’t look behind, otherwise the wolf would have seen them standing like statues. The wolf continued. They waited for him to gain more distance before continuing their one-step-at-a-time motion.
Once a great enough distance between themselves and the wolf was reached, the wolf rose from the brush and limped at a faster pace. His breathing was loud and deep, exhaling the fatigue that weighed him down. Soon the wolf could only hear his own breathing and not the two following him. A hairline on its right hind leg opened with his active movement; he left a trail of crimson droplets behind him. Even when he was out of sight, Onyx and Bixbite followed his trail.
“This thing must’ve been in a big fight to get injuries like that,” said Onyx.
“I’ve never seen an animal like that around here. Do you think there are others like it?” Bixbite asked, hoping she was right.
“All the animals around the mountain live in squads. Like Gems. It might be a possibility.”
Bixbite squealed, unable to contain herself, but her joy went unnoticed. Onyx watched the floor with solemn precision, blind to the rest of the forest, including her friend. Bixbite became a little more than a gust of wind, a whisper brushing by Onyx’s ear only heard rarely.
“Do you really like the animal too, Onyx?” Bixbite asked. Onyx murmured a response and suddenly Bixbite was sure that she was.
The real reason went unnoticed by both Bixbite and Onyx. She felt a calling to the wolf, an urge driving her legs to follow the blood-soaked trail and ignore her precious friend as though she were a twig on the ground. Onyx didn’t know the answer herself. The curiosity to find out pushed her.
On the other side of the brush, the charcoal wolf couldn’t walk another inch and stopped to catch his breath. His pursuers were all but gone and so he let himself rest. The bleeding had not ceased and in fact got worse the more he walked; dirt and leaves from the forest floor sting the wounds as they stuck to him. But the forest began to change into something he recognized. A slumped boulder covered in moss and tangling vines, the size of two men, was in the distance. The wolf knew he was only a few steps from where he needed to be.
Bixbite and Onyx poked their heads out of the brush to see the wolf pause in his tracks. He pushed against the ground to raise his head. His back was straight, his chest puffed with the air he sucked in all at once. For the first time, Onyx and Bixbite heard the wolf howl into the sky. Its high call echoed in their minds and down their spines with a tickling sensation. The call lasted for a few seconds and it only took a brief moment of silence for another call to strike the two Gems. But the second howl was smaller.
Curiosity in the two Gems was peaked to greater heights. They had to see what was at the end of their stake-out; they needed to see what the wolf was leading them to. Bixbite could hardly contain herself as the wolf submerged into a slope. They rushed as quietly yet as fast as they could. Onyx and Bixbite climbed the giant boulder and loomed over the edge.
Like a couple of gargoyles on the sky, they watched the wolf finally collapse in front of the boulder’s shadow. Four little puffs of dark gray fur waggled out of the shadows with stumpy paws. They circled around the black wolf and nipped at his fur, and though Bixbite and Onyx were about to spring into action thinking he was being attacked, the wolf did not react to the little ones. Bixbite was stunned when she realized the little puffs of gray fur were miniature versions of the wolf—pups.
“I know what those are. Jason called them…um…uh…Beboos,” whispered Bixbite. “The things on Earth make smaller version of themselves that I think are new things?”
“Beboos? Like when Gems make other Gems?” Onyx inquired, easily oblivious.
They shut themselves when they saw another figure leaving the cover. It was another wolf, one of a much brighter coat of fur. Its entire body was covered in a hide of white like untouched snow, with a streak of gold wrapped around its neck. At the sight of the second wolf, the black wolf limped closer to her which triggered the white wolf to hurry to his side. She buried her face in his fur, seemingly setting him at ease. They rubbed their necks together while the little pups danced around their feet. When the attention of the bigger wolves was off them; two of the pups wrestled with each other while the other two chased each other in circles. Neither Bixbite nor Onyx could take their eyes off them as though they were trapped by the scene.
“I think Jason called that a family,” said Bixbite.
“A…family? Like…a squad. It has a squad,” Onyx mumbled. The answer for her curiosity came to her then.
Suddenly the treetops shook violently. The four gray wolves that chased the black one earlier dropped down in front of them, their fangs entered before the rest of them. The black wolf took a fierce stance, snarling, but he couldn’t hold it for much longer than a second; he collapsed to one side.
           “What’s happening?” Bixbite gasped.
Onyx observed the black wolf’s fighting stance. “They’re enemies!”
“Oh no! But it can’t fight! What’s gonna happen?”
The black wolf threw a barrage of snapping barks as a show of intimidation. Undeterred, the gray wolves advanced slowly. The white wolf pushed the pups under the cover and one of the four broke from the pack to run towards her. The black wolf threw himself like a rock, slamming his side into the gray wolf’s stomach and knocking him down. The rest pounced immediately onto the black wolf; even the one he knocked down recovered on jumped on.
A horrific scene unfolded that Bixbite couldn’t bear to look. The pack crunched on every part of the black wolf they could bite, tearing his flesh easily like paper. He squealed in agony, fighting as much as he could but doing nothing to push away his attackers. The white wolf jumped in, biting down hard on one of them and throwing it off the black wolf with a lunge. The others charged at her, but the black wolf suddenly blocked their path. He slammed his head into one’s head, but the attack left him open for the others to tackle him. They went back to biting the black wolf.
It was more than Bixbite could take. In a rush of adrenaline she aimed her hand over the edge, but before firing her beam, Onyx leaped in the middle of the fight. She grabbed two of the four and threw them against the same tree trunk; the impact dropped them to the ground paralyzed. The other two released the black wolf and steered their rage at Onyx. They latched their fangs onto her arms and though the pain stung her Onyx grit her teeth and held her ground. One wolf released its bite and circled around her. Onyx swung her foot behind her and kicked the enemy wolf in the teeth. The last wolf finally saw what the others didn’t: defeat. It released Onyx and ran into the brush. The other wolves slowly got back up and followed its example.
“Onyx!” Bixbite climbed down the boulder, reaching for the ground with an extended foot, worried of falling. She ran to Onyx and inspected the bite marks on her arms with tears flooding her eyes. “Are you okay? You got hurt again!”
“I’m fine, Bix. Sorry for making you cry again,” said Onyx, wiping a tear off her cheek. “But I couldn’t let them win an unfair match.”
A growl from behind startled them. The black wolf stood in front of the white one, doing his best to stand upright with only his front legs working.
Onyx motioned for Bixbite to move back. She knelt down to her knees and bowed her head in front of the wolf. He stopped growling then. A moment of silence between the two. The scene was the same as when the two met but the air wasn’t as tense as that time. Onyx put herself in a submissive state as a means to show she wasn’t there to pick a fight, as surprising as that fact was to Bixbite.
The wolf slowly approached her, one paw at a time. Onyx was an arm’s length away from touching the animal; she slowly raised her hand out in front of it. Closer the wolf crept, flinching backwards a bit with uncertainty. Its instincts advised it of danger even when it none was there. Finally Onyx could feel the heat off its snout hitting the palm of her hand. She held her breath. The wolf tapped its wet nose on her hand before sliding his fur against her touch. He submitted to her.
Onyx held Bixbite’s hand and guided it to at last pet the wolf’s fur. The softness of its fur elated Bixbite and despite her booming excitement the wolf wasn’t alarmed by her either. At the sign of no danger, the pups left their mother’s side and swarmed Bixbite. She was overjoyed. They brushed their puffy bodies against her legs, biting her with their tiny teeth which tickled more than it hurt. Bixbite picked one of the pups up which barked at her, tough. She cradled it in her arms with a bright smile across her face. Onyx guided the black wolf to her side and let him rest his head on her thighs.
“I’m…so…happy,” Bixbite wept.
One of the pups went to Onyx’s feet and gnawed at her toes. She picked it up and petted the top of its head.
“These Beboos are kinda cute, huh,” said Onyx.
“They are so adorable!” She cried. If Bixbite could she’d spend the entire day saying how much she loved the pups, but another mattered suddenly dawned on her. “Wait, Onyx, why did you want to follow it in the first place anyway? Usually you don’t like any of my animals.”
The black wolf snuggled against her leg. Onyx ran her fingers between his burly hide, careful of the scratches around his neck. His breathing slowed down to a relaxed pace that he hadn’t had since coming to the unfamiliar forest. Onyx felt the wolf relax. Her smile was the warmest Bixbite had ever seen when it came to Onyx and an animal.
“This animal doesn’t like the others of its kind. It’s an Off Color, just like me. It’s tough and it’s got a big attitude for something its size…just like me,” said Onyx, earnestly. “I can’t explain it, but when I saw it fighting even though it was injured and alone…I saw myself.”
Bixbite was moved by her words. She sat down next to her and held her hand.
“I had Plume to help me when I was alone. And then, I had you. But when I saw it was alone, fighting off the others to protect its squad, I couldn’t help but protect it. Do you know what I mean?”
Bixbite leaned against Onyx’s arm. She understood full well what Onyx meant and it made feel sure of one thing: she never wanted to leave Onyx’s side.
They sat with the wolves until the light faded in the forest. As the moon arouse to the sky that night the Gems were given a second symphony. The two adult wolves and the small pups howled into the stars, and at up close they enjoyed the full strength of the animals’ voices. Onyx and Bixbite raised their heads directly up and imitated the sound. Their calls echoed.
