hi Kayla!! can you tell us more about "PRPR that was almost anon fic 3"? 👀

thanks for the ask, mia!! I forgot I had this in my WIPs until today--it's what I'd planned to write and post on anon when I was trying to play the game of "how many fics can i post on anon before someone guesses who I am?" But then I anoned too close to the sun (read: nothing gets past @ladyofthenoodle...except the first anon fic i posted because it didn't have the love square tag 😂)

But this fic is like...PRPR and Ladybug shows up at Adrien's after having a nightmare. I hadn't totally figured out the details, but I was thinking it could also be a post-S5 fic where Adrinette breaks up...then years later are obviously still in love with each other but think the other is over them. (so it's sort of post- AND pre-relationship???)

Suddenly wide awake, Adrien shot out of bed and started towards his balcony. Five steps had never taken so long—he missed the warmth of his blankets. His toes curled against the icy hardwood floors. But he knew what awaited on the other side of the curtains that he hastily pushed aside before sliding open the the balcony door. “Hello, my lady. Fancy seeing you—oomph.” She launched herself into his arms, almost knocking him over with her strength. He steadied himself by leaning into her embrace, taking a deep breath to calm his fluttering heart.  It wouldn’t settle. Not when everything he hadn’t realized he’d been missing all night was suddenly wrapped up in his arms. Not when she was shaking like a leaf swept up in a tornado, and the urge to protect her swept through his core. He twirled a strand of her long ponytail around his finger, and she sighed against his chest. “You know,” he said, “I’ve had a lot of dreams that started this way.” Her next breath was tinged with amusement, but it wasn’t quite a laugh. “I’m sure you have.” His gut clenched. “Everything okay?” “Just a nightmare.” From the way her voice cracked and she wouldn’t quite meet his eyes, Adrien knew that just was an understatement. “Can I stay for a bit?” “Of course. As long as you’d like.” Forever would be nice.

Multi-chapter. This fic is just so real and messy and beautiful. The mutual pining is absolutely perfect! The backstory and how that impacts their current dynamic is so well woven through and adds another layer to their relationship. But also, I love the lack of perfection, that these are real people with real flaws and the way that all plays out. I absolutely love this fic!

Multi-chapter. I absolutely love the early reveal in this fic. I’ve read a lot of reveals, but this one is really fun and original! And then the premise of the fic itself isn’t one I’ve seen anywhere else, which makes it very different from the usual PRPR fare. Because even though they both know...they can’t actually talk about it. And it’s so interesting and different and sweet?

One-shot. @emsylcatac‘s fics never go the way that I expect them to, and I really love that about her writing. Although this starts off really silly, the way Adrien expresses himself at the end wasn’t something I saw coming at all, even though it’s SO TRUE to his character. The pining and miscommunication is wonderful, but it’s the ending that really sells me on this one.

One-shot. The yearning in this fic is absolutely e x q u i s i t e . I love it when Adrien stops flirting post-reveal and Marinette takes it the wrong way. And they’re just SO STUPID here, and then they get to be adorable in love dorks.

One-shot but a lengthy one-shot. How about some post-Oblivio fic that has the magical ladybugs NOT erase their memories of the fight (because lbr that made no sense anyway)? Oblivio is probably my favourite episode and this is such a great fic. The mutual pining is so, so, so good! Especially love Marinette struggling to assimilate Adrien’s identities and Adrien’s obliviousness.

Adrien just wants to know who Marinette has been in love with this entire time, but she refuses to budge. Accidentally reading a part of her diary, however, gives Adrien the answers he has been looking for.

One-shot. So you may not know this about me, but I’m absolute sucker for the trope of Adrien fixating on the boy Marinette loves post-reveal. (And tbf for him fixating on the boy Ladybug loves pre-reveal.) I love how well done the miscommunication is here, where their failure to confess makes sense and all of the tension naturally follows.

One-shot. This one is all about the yearning. And then Adrien’s beautiful honesty that pushes Marinette to finally do something. They’re both so in character and I love them so much!

There’s something about the way he says it. The way his lips move. The way his eyes glaze at her. The way he looks at her as if she hung the moon and stars. The way there’s a warm glow when he's drawing close to touch. Even in this snowstorm, he was a ray of sunshine, and she was a sunburn.

One-shot. This one is really interesting because of both its device--a game of Truth or Drink--and its use of non-linear storytelling. Even though the fic is set post-reveal, we get all kinds of flashbacks to memories of their pre-reveal interactions that really illuminate the present and are extremely well woven into the narrative. I also really appreciated how honest Adrien was about his feelings, even with their relationship being so ambiguous.

The following fics are amazing and absolutely worth reading, but do feature sexual content, so minors beware.

Understandably enough, Marinette has a complete meltdown.

One-shot. Rated E for sexual content. This is one of my favourite fics and I’ve read it a good half a dozen times at least. The pining is absolutely phenomenal and Adrien is so, so oblivious. And the tension between them just builds and builds and builds until I thought I was going to die! But instead it all leads to a phenomenal resolution.

Okay, so: Lukagami fake marriage

Simple synopsis is that Tomoe has decided that she's had enough of Paris/Gabriel/akuma attacks/Kagami's rebellion... you name it, and she's moving back to Japan and is trying to force Kagami to go back with her.

Thing is, Kagami is of age (this is an aged-up au btw) and so she lies to her mother and tells her that she can't be forced to go back to Japan because she's married to Luka. When Tomoe asks what ever happened to Kagami's relationship with Adrien, she says that they broke up amicably and Adrien's now dating Marinette [they're not, but right after the confrontation Kagami messages them both asking them to back her up if they're ever asked]. And Luka's chill, so he'll play along.

So then shenanigans and we have Lukagami with Adrienette on the side.

Classroom Wedding

"Basically I want a goofy class and a dorky Adrienette being domestic and cute and ridiculous" was the idea XD

I thought it'd be cute if there was some sort of scenario where the class is mucking around and then through some lighthearted teasing and whatever, they get a bit carried away and “marry” Adrien and Marinette for fun. They’re joking but they do the whole thing with faux seriousness and it’s a little ridiculous but it’s fun, and then it becomes a running thing from that point on where they’ll call them husband and wife and if there’s partner work, Adrien immediately takes Marinette’s hand and is like “I can think of no better person to do this assessment with than my lovely wife” and vice versa, or if one of them mentions being ever so slightly ill, the classmates summon their “partner” as though it’s life or death and they come racing, or-

And I pondered on which dynamic (pre- pre-; prpr; post-reveal established relationship) would be best before thinking how funny it'd be if it was pre-reveal pre-relationship - they’re getting up to all these lovey-dovey shenanigans and have no idea that they love each other or that they’re each other’s superhero partner. Then imagine they carry on these shenanigans into the Ladynoir dynamic, both saying they’re “married” to their best friend, and since it happened to both of them, they don’t question it and assume there’s some sort of popular internet trend or something, and so when the reporters ask, they’re both like “we’re married to other people, my hero partner is truly my best friend”

And then shenanigans when they take the joke too seriously (but in a fun way), like they got rings for one another: all the boys took out Adrien to look for a ring for Marinette while the girls took her out for a ring to get Adrien, but they all bump into each other at the shops and have to pretend that they’re not doing what they’re actually doing because they wanted it to be a surprise for the other

Silly fluffy shenanigans with the class and Adrienette is all I want, and I don't think I've seen enough of this kind of content, so I'm like "well, maybe I'll write my own, idk"

Hmm, what about breathing space? (for the wip game!) the title's really intriguing :>

this one takes place right after they discover HM’s identity and defeat him. It’s pre-reveal, pre-relationship but will kind of have prpr vibes a bit? Basically adrien feels very lost and guilty about his dad being HM and doesn’t want LB to know about it, so he’s kind of avoiding her. Meanwhile marinette is having to shoulder all the media attention alone and is realizing that what she thought would be a chance to finally relax and move on with her life is actually really overwhelming and complicated bc she cant get a chance to process everything and she’s worried about both adrien and chat. So she suggests that she and chat have a little partner’s retreat away from the city to talk and clear their heads (and possibly reveal, but she’s too chicken to suggest it bc he’s acting so weird lately and what if he doesn’t want to? Or what if it makes everything worse? Blah blah)

Here’s a little excerpt:

“I know I speak for all of us when I say that I am eternally grateful for what you and Chat Noir have done for this city. For the first time in five years, the citizens of Paris can breathe. And it’s all thanks to you.”

The mayor smiled warmly, placing a hand on her shoulder, and Marinette forced a smile back.

Paris could breathe, but she couldn’t.

There wasn’t enough space.

WIP Ask Game

This is a PRPR oneshot I've been working one, since I just wanted to write some PRPR silliness and pining. It takes place some time after Hawk Moth's defeat, with a lot of unsaid feelings still lingering.

“And what exactly am I meant to make? You’ve already picked everything around us.” Marinette gestured around their shaded spot that was now devoid of any little flower within reach.

“Not everything!” Adrien pouted.

As he searched around him for some overlooked flower, Marinette’s eyes fell on the little pile of grass he’d plucked earlier. A spot of yellow caught her eye, prompting her to delicately brush aside the loose strands of grass. A small buttercup was revealed, slightly bent from being weighed down from the grass but still intact with all of its shiny rounded petals. It wasn’t enough to make a woven crown like the one Adrien had placed on her head, but she decided one was enough.

She was aware of Adrien watching her as she gently plucked the flower, making sure to allow herself enough of the stem to work with. She then carefully worked the stem into a small loop. With only a single flower to use, it took her no time at all until she turned the buttercup into a ring.

“Hold out your hand,” Marinette instructed as she delicately held the flower-ring between her thumb and finger.

Adrien’s eyes were blown wide as he stared at her offered gift. His cheeks had appeared to turn pinkish as well, but Marinette put that down to the warmth of the summer sun. She was about to offer him the sunscreen she had in her bag, but then he tentatively held out his left hand to her, palm up and waiting.

The sensible thing to do would have been to just place the buttercup ring in his hand like any normal and sane person would. But Marinette was overcome with a moment of boldness. Instead she took his hand with her free one, turning his over so that she could gently slide the buttercup onto his ring finger.

It fit perfectly.

Marinette froze, completely lost in the warmth and weight of his hand in hers, and how there was a ring on his finger that she’d placed there. It didn’t matter that the ring was just a buttercup, for a moment she could almost let herself believe in a fantasy.

Adrien had similarly gone quiet as he too stared at their hands. But the. There came a quiet breath from him. “Yes.”

Marinette snapped her head up. She thought she had imagined him speaking, but the bright red flooding Adrien’s face said otherwise. He awkwardly cleared his throat and pulled his hand away. “I mean, thanks…”

“S-Sure…” Marinette stuttered back. She hugged her knees to her chest and quickly looked away. She missed the feel of his hand already.

dskjfdsklgsjdskj i actually love it even though i forgot about it for a while but basically:

prpr adult Adrien and Mari are roommates (also of course secretly in love with each other duh) and having trouble getting along so they see a couple's therapist (because they're not a couple yes, but Alya signed them up so that's not a big deal right?).

The couple's therapist gives them an assignment to not touch each other, and yes this includes no hugging.

Naturally, this leads to quite a bit of frustration and sadness.

I don't have much of this written out because whenever I try to write as a therapist my first desire is to be accurate and then I get hung up about work sdkjghdf but here's a snippet

“So, to summarize; you two have been having challenges in your relationship.”

Marinette leans forward and hurriedly corrects, “No, no. Not a relationship. We’re just—just roommates.”

“Roommates,” Dr. Farraz confirms, peering over the edge of their glasses. Their eyes dart Marinette to Adrien in an attempt to discover the whole truth. 

Adrien tries his darndest to not sound put out when he repeats, “Yeah. Roommates.”

Well it’s not like he could say they’ve been having challenges living together after a lifetime of fighting crime as superheroes and unrequited love.

So yeah. Roommates. 

Their therapist, who was heavily endorsed by Nino and Alya, closes the notebook they’d been scribbling all manner of fun little details about why he and Marinette are a mess. Adrien tries to peek into its secrets in a vain attempt to see if he could find something to help him deal with her, but no dice.

Dr. Farraz glances at him knowingly. “Well, by trade I am a relationship therapist. But, every relationship is a relationship. Why don’t we call this your…partnership.”

Some people say Adrienette dating has ruined the development Ladynoir had so far. Ladybug's feelings for Chat Noir apparently mean nothing just because she's started dating Adrien. But what about Adrien's feelings for Marinette? If we'd gotten canon Ladynoir or prpr, wouldn't that mean that the development Adrienette has so far would be ruined too? Startrain, Puppeteer 2, Risk, Multiplication, New York special, Determination—would all these Adrienette moments lead nowhere?

I mean, if you follow their logic, which I don't recommend. Because it doesn't logic. That's not how it works. 🤦‍♀️😂😂 I actually think it's kind of sad we can even have this conversation lol. You would think in a fandom where a majority of fans ship the same two people there wouldn't be this much in fighting, but here we are 😂 Who knew character development could bring out the worst in people. They're out here so upset that they're absolutely sleeping on LN gushing about their private lives to each other casually while kicking ass like they're two coworkers chatting at the watercooler rather than superheroes fighting bad guys. Previous seasons could never. Not to mention, all of this arguing over LN and Adrinette is ignoring the true victims: Ladrien stans. Like hello? Someone forgot to mail the s5 invite. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised this fandom forgot about Ladrien. What else is new, am I right? 😭😭

(adrinette pre reveal anon here) I agree wholeheartedly tbh! And I just have been thinking about it for long now and I just wanted to share my speculation/brain rot dwowihshs

In kwami's choice, they are not ladybug and chat noir anymore for a the time being of two episodes - and with how Adrien has been (and has decided to be) persistent about asking marinette out on a date, I think there'll be some conflict with that? Maybe they conclude that episode either to date, or that it just doesn't work out with their identities

Or maybe there'll be a mini arc with this whole thing? I can't help thinking about how this is all somewhat leading upto the fact that at this point revealinh their identities might solve this whole complication? Maybe they try to go on a couple of dates but their identities/obligations do not allow them to? (So it wouldn't be them EXACTLY dating pre reveal? idk)

Also I JUST thought of something but what if this time line is supposed to be actually the chat blanc timeline but more...slower and complicated if that makes sense? (Actually it doesn't. I am sorry I don't know how to put it down😭 but Gabriel thinking CHAT NOIR has feelings for marinette seems like a ~very good~ start/s )

All I hope is that IF they do go for adrinette pre reveal (I hope not for most part), the reveal comes like an episode after or something? (Because the more I think about it the more I think it'd be SUPER HARD for them to keep their identities a secret because they are dumb and lose their single Braincell when with each other hsksjs) and maybe we could get ladrien?

But tbh all I can conclude with is that adrinette DATING pre reveal is not too unlikely, but them TRYING to? Especially since I just think that since Adrien and marinette are their *main* identities (like who they are and not alias like ladynoir) I think they would try to dissolve all of their feelings into one big mix that turns out to be romantic adrinette and then when they finally see each other BOOM! reveal

But that'd mean no prpr and it would me me super sad djsbhshs and especially like you said, I would like and much prefer adrinette closure and at least talking out everything before romance.

I don't know how much you've seen of the gloob trailers (or other channels' trailers, I'm honestly lost with how many things have been shared 💀), and because I don't know for sure if these were actual trailers or leaks in disguise, so I'll answer undercut in case you haven't seen them, and I'll try to refer to your paragraphs as numbers as I answer (1. being "In kwami's choice [...]", 6. being "But that'd mean no prpr [...]", I hope it makes sense haha)

So in one of the trailer for Kwami's choice, we see Adrien in Marinette's room finding her pictures of him in the trash. We also see him telling her he loves her for who she is, to which she replies that she doesn't love him anymore while seemingly crying on her bed. So yes, there'll be some conflicts with that: first because Marinette needs to grieve that she couldn't get in a relationship with Chat Noir, then because she's still running away from her feelings for Adrien because of the trauma associated with losing all the miraculous. That's why Tikki and Plagg according to the summaries & trailers or whatnot chose to remove them of their heroes duty, so they can be free to be in love. This of course won't work ultimately as they'll have no choice but be back as heroes (it's me speculating but also we all know there's no way they won't be back as heroes by the end of the episodes hahaha). That means that the conclusion of this episode will have to either include Marinette stopping to run away from her feelings for Adrien and be back to pursue him, or they'll reveal, or something else. I also firmly believe that the official confession will be made by Marinette and not Adrien, since it's been what she's struggled with since S1.

That's one of the thing I'm wondering if the writers chose to go down with the "adrinette dating first" scenario. Because we've explored the scenario of their civilian romantic relationships mixing up with their superheroes duty in S4, when they dated Luka and Kagami (sure, we can't say they were in love with them but the episodes showed the breakups as being more of a "we're secretly heroes" problem rather than a "we're not in love with you oopsiiie" problem). Which is one of the many reasons why I think them dating post-reveal would make more sense, but if they date pre-reveal then I expect they'll eventually meet problems with their heroes lives at some point. Including the not so small issue of Gabe wanting to use Marinette to get to Chat Noir and mostly Ladybug

Haha no I don't think it's gonna be a Chat Blanc 2.0, I think there's too few episodes left for them to pull out a fake reveal etc etc and they've explored these scenarii twice already. Not that I would mind seeing it again 😛

I feel like if they reveal one episode or two after they start dating, then why would the writers chose to have them date pre-reveal if it's gonna be this short? So probably not haha but if they go down this road (which again, they might not and I'd be very glad), I do want to see the conflict with the heroes life/feelings etc stretch out a bit👀 As for Ladrien, I feel like a Ladrien-centered episode would be relevant if it's to help Marinette move past her trauma of having lost the miraculous with Adrien. Apart from that, I'm afraid there's not a lot of ""use"" plot-wise to have an episode centered on them :/ BUT one can hope and you will NOT see me complain if we get plot irrelevance stupid Ladrien 😌

I would say that Adrinette is their civilian/day-to-day identities but I get what you mean, yes. And see, this is why once again Adrinette closure but no dating would be great, so they get to see each other before fully being together. Oh well, maybe I'm scared for no reason and they'll date post-reveal hahahaha, again it'll depend on how Kwami's choice goes.

yeah :( prpr is such a good concept and I was so convinced that's how things were gonna turn out (or at least, reveal + dating almost same time) that it's hard to accept it might not happen 😅 we'll see..!! Adrinette dating pre-reveal while clowning as Ladynoir is a fun concept, but it's one I prefer see in fanfics rather than canon hahaha

that post analyzing why exaltation/marichat had to happen kinda falls flat when you realize most of that episode actually reads a lot like fanservice. Especially bc most marichat-centered episodes in the past also read like fanservice. I do believe you're right in questioning why ladrien didn't get to have this first. It's what we should all be asking ourselves, bc it's what should've happened if the writers weren't so focused on pleasing that majority of the fandom that loves marichat

hmm now here is the thing: i do think 50% of ml is just fanservice (or maybe some would call it filler). it does contribute to the main pairing imo even if the show is not consistent abt it. so i dont really mind elatation being a bit of fanservice (because yeah there is no denying it it is). that and because i also had fun so yeah. i dont knwo if i can agree with a few past maricat episodes being fanservice though because then by that definition the show becomes mostly fanservice. which it wasnt this is a children's cliqued show anyone can predict an episode here pretty easily esp with insane amount of fanfiction written duing 2016-17. but even if it was it's fine at least to me

but yeah i am definitely in the correct to question why wasnt a ladrien episode been done that they both remember (yes ephemeral is v angsty v nicely done. but they dont remember. and it's also technically a debatable ladrien ep as it's more prpr but i digress). honestly at this point it isnt just about fanservice but doing justice to ladrien. there hasnt really shown to be a development on that side since *checks notes* s3 and even though there has been many discussions on how they might interact, canon makes no effort to even show it and yes it's honestly a lil upsetting. it's just blatant disservice. i just want the old every-season-has-a-marichat-and-a-ladrien-episode-:) back gods it's not much to ask for

Hey Jenna! Thank you for your help with finding fics to read! I'd like to know your opinion about smut fics. The ML fandom seems to be divided, a part of the fandom is strongly against any smut. Is it really inappropriate to write and read smut?

Anon, I was so entertained to get this ask.

Not only am I very much in favour of smut fics, I even write them myself!

But you are correct that the fandom is divided on this in a way I haven't really seen in any of my previous fandoms. For most of my extremely lengthy time in fandom, I've found smut to be much more prevalent. I got my start in Buffy fandom when I was 14 years old and when I discovered "NC-17" fics (as we called them then), well, I didn't have much interest in reading anything else.

Now, some people are going to read that I was a 14 year old reading explicit depictions of sex and they're going to clutch their pearls.

I think that's ridiculous.

I think that written fiction is a wonderful and SAFE way for people (even, no ESPECIALLY minors) to explore things that they're interested in or curious about before actually engaging with those things. And, especially in the case of sex, I certainly think it's a lot better than many of the alternatives like porn or trying things before you're ready. A lot of people will engage in sexual acts before people think they're old enough to read about those same acts and I think that's ridiculous.

I'm now old and married with kids of my own and I have absolutely no regrets or qualms about my early foray into smutty fic. Honestly, I don't even regret my TERRIBLE attempts at writing my own then because they were learning experiences.

I think that this fandom generally being a lot younger is part of the lack of smutty content, and that's okay. I'm certainly not suggesting that fans who are not interested in or not comfortable with that kind of content should seek it out. That's part of why I always make sure to put the M and E rated fics at the end of my rec lists under a warning. (But I only state minors should "beware" and not that they can't read them because I'm not actually against minors reading smut if they want to and can handle it.)

But I do want to push back against this idea that sex is somehow different than any of the other things that humans can do with our bodies, this idea that there's any kind of value or morality attached to it. I know this fandom likes to use "sin" to refer to smut, but I specifically don't do that because I think it's harmful. Some of the people using it may be joking or tongue in cheek, but I think these ideas can hurt people, make them feel guilty about their natural desires or the consensual behaviour they engage in.

People touching each other's bodies to make each other feel good isn't inappropriate, as long as everyone's consenting. People reading about this or writing about it isn't inappropriate either.

It's just sex.

Anyway, you didn't ask for recs, but I'm going to throw some on here anyway (jumping my rec list queue to boot!) because the smut writers in this fandom are amazing and I appreciate them so, so much! Frankly, I wish there was more 😘

I think if there's a reveal this season it would be interesting for it to be one sided Adrien again, and instead of the Chat Blanc immediately running to Marinette and declaring his love, he's kinda confused what to do for a little bit because of a change in dynamics. just a random thought I guess.

ohhh, that could be interesting! tbh i’ve long suspected we will get at least one more chat blanc or oblivio type reveal that gets reversed, because if i was writing the show, i’d want to milk every possibility out of the secret identity stuff before the permanent reveal.

i suspect we will get to see marinette finding out first because of that, but you’re right that adrien finding out first would look very different now than it did in season 3, so that could be an interesting possibility too!

i am pretty sure the actual reveal won’t be in season 4, unless it’s at the very end of the finale, but a temporary reveal? i fully expect the writers to explore every possibility, and adrien finding out in the midst of all this tension would fit!

I felt a lot better after reading your answer and it made my day and cleared a lot of confusion I had<3. (Also I am not the anon who you mentioned in the post, just wanted to clarify 😅). What are your thoughts about Ephemeral?? I thought it was amazing (Really had some pacing issues, but that didn't bother me).

Unfortunately I came across the warned "discourse" (salt) and poof! There goes my excitement XD

People are saying the episode was horrible and then the sentimonster theory is driving them crazy. Your blog is literally one of the very few blogs out of the ones I follow which is pro-sentiadrien and I had to unfollow a lot of people because they were being really...mean about the theory. More like salting on the writing saying that the writers would handle it poorly and that they would redeem Gabriel (say wha-) and being all "Marinette was so insensitive" (WHERE DID THEY EVEN GET THAT TAKE FROM-) and so on:(

I find the theory really fascinating and do believe that it will be handled delicately and well by the writers and these takes are really kind of disheartening:(

Hello friend! Sorry I've taken so long to answer this. I'm sorry the discourse made you upset, it's hard to see people talk about something you enjoyed like that, and at the same time I have seen so many people talk about how much they loved this episode!

In fact part of the reason I couldn't answer right away is because my thoughts for the first few days were just dfhskjghslkghslkhg over and over.

And omg anon a better question would be what didn't i like about this episode because I genuinely think it might be my favorite (possibly overtaking chat blanc but i will need time to figure that out).

Of course, I loved the love square reveal and their dynamic, especially seeing Mari's reaction and Adrien's full gung-ho attitude. It was exactly what I wanted to see more of in Chat Blanc and I'm thrilled I got to see it there.

Some other things I loved:

The mystery behind the rings. Sentiadrien or not there is definitely more than meets the eye there and I love that we are getting to explore it.

Also the theme of love in that episode were incredible, revolving around how different Gabriel's idea of love appear to be from Adrien and Marinette. If we take the main theme's lyric "the power of love always so strong" I think this episode was able to address it both in terms of romantic love (through the prpr love square) and friendship love (through the ladynoir scenes), while contrasting them severely against Gabriel's twisted "love" for Emilie that isn't really love at all anymore.

I've talked so much about how much I love seeing the various reveals so am not going to go into it again dkjsfhsjdkg

I thought the themes behind time, both in the time passing since this story started, the value of time spent with the love square accepting and being together, and the fleeting nature of it at times with an akuma like Ephemeral was tragic but extremely well done.

Luka was awesome in this ep and I thought it was fun, the ending felt a bit rushed but honestly if they had had to cut anything else out I would have been so disappointed so I'm willing to ignore a rushed ending for more love square.

I know some people thought the manner in which the akuma was defeated was convoluted but I thought the fact that they had to synchronize their clocks because the time was all wrong fit perfectly with the fact that it's not the right time for the love square to be revealed and we have to wait for them to be at the right time for them both before they can be synchronized (that made more sense in my head dfjkhsdjg)

I also like that the entire point of Ephemeral the akuma was to show that Adrien is a puppet under control of Gabriel and that that is Adrien's greatest and ultimate weakness (even if the senitadrien theory is proven false). While Gabriel is still able to exert control and manipulation of Adrien, both with the grief of his mom and the traum of his abuse, Adrien will never be able to truly be free or happy. It showed that even if he and Marinette did everything right, Gabriel has this innate power to turn him into an obedient puppet. Even when he tried to fight back, both before being transformed into the akuma and during when he heard Marinette's cries and couldn't break away. I definitely think that the focus of Adrien's plotlines will be to help him break away from that control.

Only after he is free will it be the right time for Adrien and Marinette to love like they are meant to.

And honestly, this just made me an even worse love square simp because now I saw just how absolutely adorable they are when they get together and I cannot wait to see the next reveal (whether it be a what if or for real).

So yeah, I loved the episode lol
