Your first night out of the hospital was the best you’ve felt in days. After Jake’s conversation with your parents, things between the two of you began to go back to the way it used to be. There was still the need to talk about what happened between you but for now, Jake’s biggest concern was your recovery.
Jake has always been incredibly protective of you. Even before you got together, it was something in his DNA that had him always on high alert whenever you were around. Now, those senses were heightened by one hundred upon your release from the hospital.
You were doing better, you even looked better but Jake was still afraid to let you out of his sights. Your left arm was still in a cast and your knee was still sprained. Your bruises were still very evident and extremely sensitive. Jake hated watching you wince in pain every time you did something as effortless as breathe.
Jake was carefully buckling your seatbelt when he heard your breath hitch. “Shit, sweetheart, did I hurt you?” His eyes skim over your body.
You grab hold of his hand to keep it steady on your waist, noticing his abnormally clammy skin. You hated that you were causing him to worry so much. “No, you didn’t. Just sensitive, is all.”
“I’m sorry, baby,” he frowns, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead.
“Nothing to be sorry for,” you whisper in reply. You can feel the last of your pain medication wearing off, signaling that you may need to take another dose when you get back to the apartment.
Jake only nods, despite the string of apologies that threaten to spill from his lips. He has apologized to you at least a thousand times since you woke up and each time you told him the same thing. But seeing you like this, in pain because of him, broke his heart.
You fell asleep before Jake even backed out of the hospital parking lot. The entire drive back to your apartment, he keeps a hand on your knee. A reminder that you came back to him.
Pulling into the front of your complex, Jake hurriedly puts the car in park before grabbing the wheelchair from the hospital in the back of his truck. He swiftly unfolds it and wheels it to the passenger side. Opening the door, he softly coaxes you awake.
You groan and flutter your eyes open to see Jake softly looking down at you.
The journey from the car to the apartment was full of arguments and shared looks of disapproval from the both of you. You were trying to convince Jake that you could wheel yourself, while Jake adamantly refused. After a minute of going back and forth, you finally let him have his way, knowing he wasn’t going to let up any time soon.
Upon entering the apartment you’re met with all your best friends gathered in the living room under a poorly executed banner that said, “Welcome Home, Ace!”
You giggle at the lopsided writing and oddly sized lettering, making the banner look like it was written by a seven year old. You reckon that was done by Mickey due to the way he sheepishly stares down at his feet when Jake comments on the artistry.
Natasha gathers you in her arms in an instant barely giving Jake enough time to close the front door. “It’s so good to have you back here.”
“It’s so good to be back,” you sigh into her shoulder.
She lets you go in favor of helping Jake bring your bags from your hospital stay into your room.
Bob is the next one to greet you with tears in his eyes.
You squeeze his hand with a soft smile. “Oh, Bobby.”
“Sorry, I just missed you.” Bob blushes at his confession.
“Missed you too,” you grin and playfully pinch his cheek.
“Thank goodness you’re back. I haven’t watched any new episodes of The Mandalorian yet because I was waiting for you to come home.” Mickey smiles as he comes to greet you.
“Fanboy, you are just the sweetest.”
He nods proudly at your words.
“No he is not. I came over here last weekend to help with some cleaning and I saw him start season three!” Reuben interjects with a playful slap to Mickey’s back.
“Dude!”
You tsk in faux disappointment. “And I thought we were friends, Mick.”
Reuben laughs and brings you in for a hug, whispering in your ear that he’ll watch it with you instead—to which Mickey takes full offense.
Just as Javy goes in for a hug of his own, Jake comes back into the room and stands behind you.
“Careful, Javy,” he says pointedly. “Watch her ribs.”
Javy snorts. “Geez, sorry dad.”
You laugh at the two of them and roll your eyes.
Bradley is the last to approach you and you open your good arm in a warm welcome. “Hey, Chicken.”
“You’re just saying that because I can’t get you back right now!” He groans into your shoulder.
You smile and shrug innocently. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Yeah, whatever,” he shakes his head.
You feel Jake place a hand on your shoulder and you look up at him with a grateful smile.
It really did feel good to be home.

The rest of the night was spent with an incredible home cooked meal by Natasha and joyous laughter as you enjoyed some time with the people you loved most.
You moved from the wheelchair to the couch, settling in beside Jake as best you can as he used his own legs to prop up your sprained knee.
He checked up on you every once in a while. Making sure you were comfortable and drinking water. When the laughter got a little too hard to stop, it made your ribs ache and he noticed right away whenever you went to clutch at your side.
Jake would scold the group for making you laugh too hard which resulted in another round of endless teasing from them.
As the night finally wound down, the boys began to clean up the kitchen area while Natasha brought you to your room to help you redress your wounds and get ready for bed.
Nat and you sat on your bed in comfortable silence as she brushed your hair gently. Your eyelids feel heavy at her soft gestures and you almost find yourself slipping into sleep until she breaks the silence.
“Why didn’t you come talk to me?” She questions, hurt evident in her words. “Why didn’t you just talk to me instead of going to that party?”
You swallow harshly, feeling guilty for making all your friends worry about you. At the time, you weren’t in your right mind. With everything going on you didn’t want to become another burden for them to bear. Like your parents had told you so many times before, you didn’t want to become an inconvenience. Though, you knew that was hardly an excuse for your rash behavior.
“I’m sorry,” you tell her softly, turning to look at her. “I know I should’ve come to talk to you about everything instead of dealing with it on my own. I shouldn’t have done what I did. I—“ You pause to inhale deeply, feeling a sharp pain in your chest from the bruises on your ribs.
Nat smooths your hair back with a sad smile, shushing you gently. “It’s okay, don’t push yourself too hard.”
“It’s not okay if my actions ended up hurting everyone. Especially…” You stop once more to catch a break.
“Especially Jake?” She finishes for you. There’s no malice or judgment in her tone, just pure observation and understanding.
You nod. “Especially him. If I could I would take it all back in a heartbeat. I would’ve come to you for advice instead of dropping it on you through a text message. I would’ve talked to him instead of running away.”
Nat hums in understanding. She was one of the few people who really understood you. She may have been a little hurt by your decisions, but she knows none of it was done with ill intentions.
Seeing you beat yourself up like this hurts her, so she tries her best to soothe your self blame and guilt. “But he’s here now, Ace. You are so incredibly lucky that he loves you the way he does. I mean, sure, you guys fought and it led to something terrible. But he came back, he’s here and it doesn’t look like he’s leaving any time soon.” Grabbing your hand, she pulls you into another embrace. “And neither am I.”
“I love you, Nattie.”
“I love you too, Ace.”
The door opening brings the two of you apart and you’re met with Jake’s teasing smile.
“Making moves on my girl, Natasha? I’m telling Javy,” Jake crossed his arms over his chest.
Nat rolls her eyes, getting up from the bed. “Oh please, you and Javy are practically married,” she retorts, making you huff out a breath of laughter.
With one last squeeze of your hand she gives you and Jake a soft goodnight before exiting the room.
Seeing Jake freshly showered and changed into his pajamas as he stood into your room, almost brought tears to your eyes. The last time you remember him being in your room was the night you fought. Seeing him like this made your heart skip a beat. Nat was right, you were so incredibly lucky to be loved by Jake Seresin.
He walks over to you with a soft smile and gently scoops you up in his arms bridal style, eliciting a soft chuckle from you. “What are you doing?”
Jake nudges the tip of his nose with yours as he continues to move. “Putting you to bed, sweetheart. The doctor said you need to rest up and it is currently 11pm which is definitely past your bedtime.”
You scoff playfully. “Bedtime? Bedtime is for the weak!”
“Which is what you will be if you don’t get some sleep, sweetheart,” he tells you earnestly as he sets you down and begins positioning your pillows just the way you liked it in the hospital.
With your left arm laying gently on your abdomen and your knee resting on another pillow, you bury yourself deeper into the sheets with a content sigh. “God, I missed this bed.”
Jake smiles at you and lays a soft kiss to your forehead. “Clearly. Now sleep, you’ve had a long day.”
Your smile falls as you watch him take a step away from you. “Where are you going?”
“To set up my spot right here.” He taps the linoleum floor with his sock clad feet.
“The floor?” You look down at his feet and back up to him with a look of distaste. “Why are you staying on the floor? There’s plenty of room up here next to me.” You pat the spot next to you.
“I just… I don’t wanna hurt you, Ace,” he confesses.
“Jake, you could never hurt me.”
He wants to believe you. Maybe before everything he would’ve. Now he knew he was capable of doing such a thing and he promised you and himself that he would do everything in his power to never hurt you again.
“I can if I move the wrong way in my sleep. Or if you move and hurt yourself because I’m here. I won’t risk it.” He shakes his head adamantly.
“Jake—“
“Please, baby.” He cups your face in his hands gently. “Give me some peace of mind and let me sleep on the floor. Just so I know you’re safe and away from harm up there.”
“I’m always safe with you,” you sigh and pout. But you comply with consideration of, as Jake said, his “peace of mind.”
As he settles onto his incredibly uncomfortable looking cot on the floor, your own worries start to creep in. “You’ll be here when I wake up, right?”
Jake looks up at you from where he sits on the floor and gives you a reassuring smile. “I promised I’m never leaving you again, didn’t I?”
You nod.
“Then yes, I’ll be here tomorrow and every morning after that.”
Feeling more at ease, you lay back down completely onto your mountain of pillows and wait until Jake turns off the light.
“Goodnight, sweetheart. I love you,” he tells you in the darkness.
Your heart skips a beat just like it does every single time he tells you. “I love you too, Jake.”
Despite Jake being right there next to you, you have never felt so alone. His soft puffs of breath and the occasional car passing by are the only things you could hear. While Jake’s breathing usually gave you a sense of comfort, knowing he was so close yet so far away from you made it hard for you to sleep. Even with him telling you he wasn’t going to leave, there was still the nagging voice in the back of your mind, scaring you with the image of waking up to him being gone.
“Jake?”
You hear him shift and then you receive a reply. “You okay, baby? Do you need something? Are you hurting?”
“No, no I’m okay. I just… Never mind, it's stupid.”
“Nothing you could say can be stupid.” You can hear the smile in his words, but you still feel stupid anyway. “What do you need?”
“Can you hold my hand, please?” You almost feel pathetic saying it out loud.
“Of course,” he breathes. Jake immediately shifts into a sitting position and reaches for your hand that was resting on the edge of the bed. He intertwined his fingers with yours and pressed a kiss against your knuckles. “Better?”
“Much.”
“Good. Now will you get to sleep?”
“I will, promise.”
True to your word, you do. Jake waits until your breaths even out into a familiar pattern of sleep. Even as you drift off into what he hopes is a restful slumber, your grip on his hand stays strong. His neck hurts and his arm is starting to feel like pins and needles, but he couldn’t find it in himself to care. As long as you were comfortable, that’s all that mattered.
Feeling your touch and hearing you breathe wasn’t nearly enough to ease his racing thoughts. He was afraid that if he closed his eyes, you would disappear. Deep down, Jake knew it was irrational—that people didn’t just disappear in thin air. But he had gotten too close to losing you and he never wanted to feel that type of fear ever again.
It hit him then that you were his light in the darkness. His daylight in the cloudiest of storms. His person and the other half of his heart. The one thing he absolutely cannot live without. He knew he loved you more than anything and being faced with the possibility of not being able to tell you again put so many things into perspective for him.
The two of you were young, he knew that. Still in your early twenties and your whole life ahead of you. But he also knew that he never wanted to risk losing you again. You were it for him. He couldn’t imagine himself loving anyone else.
Three years ago, Jake would’ve laughed at the idea of him settling down and finding one girl instead of messing around and being a bachelor for life. Three years ago he couldn’t imagine being in love. Now, he couldn’t imagine life without you.
Bringing your hand to his lips, he gives you another kiss. He keeps your hand against his lips and swears on everything he is, that he is going to marry you someday.
The sureness of his own confession should have scared him, but it didn’t. For once, Jake Seresin had never been so sure of anything in his life.

Recovery is a bitch. Your body felt like it had gotten run over at least a hundred times. The bruises had gone from their dark purplish hue to a lighter green and yellow color. Your flesh was still tender to the touch, especially near your ribs but it was definitely better than the first day you were released from the hospital. The most annoying of it all, was the constant fatigue and visits to the physical therapist’s office. Stubborn as always, you swore you didn’t need it. Most times, you found the exercise ridiculous. You thought it was a waste of your time. However, Jake made sure you didn’t miss a single appointment.
You spent most of your time in the apartment with Nat, Mickey, and Bob. Bradley, Reuben, and Javy dropped by when they could as well which you were extremely grateful for.
But Jake was the only thing making your recovery bearable. Not once, had he left your side since the hospital. With the final days of exams winding down, Jake was able to give his full and undivided attention to you.
Yet the constant company and loving wasn’t enough to stop yourself from stressing and worrying about where you stood with Jake. Things may have felt normal, but you were afraid that things would break at any moment.
So you kept quiet and hoped he wouldn’t notice that you were slowly losing it on the inside. You should’ve known you couldn’t keep anything from Jake. He could always read you better than anyone else.
The two of you had fallen asleep on the couch after a long day of follow up doctors appointments.
Jake had his arms wrapped snugly around your waist and had you tucked delicately into his side. It took a few days to finally get him to agree to hold you again and now that he was feeling better about it, you never wanted him to stop.
But your throat was feeling dry and you desperately needed a glass of water. So you ever so carefully unravel his strong arms from around you as not to disturb him.
He needed rest just as much as you did. You hate that he hasn’t been taking care of himself as well because of his constant concern for you. It was sweet, but you didn’t need him constantly at your beck and call.
You softly lay his arms on his abdomen and wiggle out from beside him as best you can. You quietly pad over to the kitchen and pull a glass from the cabinet to grab yourself some water.
You barely get to opening the fridge when you hear Jake from behind you.
“Ace! What’re you doing up? Let me get that for you. Sit down,” he groggily exclaims.
You turn to look at him over your shoulder and giggle at his disheveled hair and light pink cheeks.  “It’s okay, Jake. Lay back down. I’m just getting water.”
“No, no, you’re not supposed to be overexerting yourself. Get back here and let me do it.” He’s fumbling over his feet just to get to you.
You extend your one good arm across the  fridge and block what you can with your body. “I’m fine,” you insist. “Besides, I’m hardly lifting a finger.”
Jake rolls your eyes at your stubbornness. “Yeah, you’re lifting a whole arm. Sit down.”
You narrow your gaze at him. “No.”
“Ace,” he scolds you like a father would his child.
“Jake,” you mimic.
“Ace, so help me God, I will move you myself if I have to.”
“You wouldn’t.” You challenge him, despite knowing very well that he would.
“Alright, you asked for it.” Jake walks over and stops right in front of you with bent knees. Hyper aware of your bad knee, he gently cradles your legs before using his other arm to go around your waist. Not a fan of the wheelchair, Jake had gotten used to carrying you around the house this way.
You could easily walk yourself especially with how well physical therapy has been going but Jake insisted that you save your strength.
“Jake!”
He easily brings you to the stool at the kitchen island with a look of disapproval. “You could have woken me up, you know.”
“For someone that is so obsessed with getting good rest, you seem to be doing the exact opposite,” you point out.
“Okay, snippy, watch the tone.” Jake rests his hands on his hips. “What’s going on, Ace?” He moves to slot himself between your parted legs.
You avoid his intense gaze, finding a loose thread on your shirt to pay attention to instead. You didn’t want to tell him you were struggling—with your recovery, your mental health—with anything.
Jake was so great and so incredibly supportive of everything but you needed to do some things on your own. You want the reassurance that you could still be independent. The accident took that freedom away from you.
He gently cups your face in his hands, bringing you back to him. “Talk to me, Ace. I can’t help you if I don’t know what’s wrong.”
You shake yourself out of his grip, angling your back towards him. You knew Jake would never judge you, yet you still felt ashamed for being so weak. “Nothing’s wrong, Jake.”
“Bullshit. That’s bullshit and you know it.” He sighs and opens his hands towards you palms up. A silent invitation to let him hold you.
Jake raises his brows, waiting for you to reciprocate. You look up at him and dramatically clasp your hands into his, which he grips in a silent thank you.
“You haven’t been yourself lately, baby. And it’s not just because you’re recovering. There’s something else going on in that head of yours.”
Your heart skips a beat. Jake has always been able to read you better than anyone else.
“So, what’s going on? What can I do to make it better?” He practically begs.
Your sweet boy, always wanting to make things better for you. Squeezing his hands tighter, you release a shaky breath. “I’m afraid there’s nothing you can do.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean,” you pause as you try to explain to him what you’ve been feeling. “Before I tell you, I need you to know that none of this is your fault. You hear me?”
“Ace—“ He starts with worry flooding his features.
“Jake.” The look on your face quiets him down.
Running a hand through his already disheveled hair he reluctantly complies. “Yeah, okay.”
You close your eyes. You couldn’t look at him as you explained yourself. You wouldn’t be able to control the tears if you looked at him. “I’m lost, Jake. I’m so fucking lost and I don’t know how to find myself again. After coming back from the accident, I don’t feel like myself anymore.”
Jake’s expression morphed from worried to pained in an instant.
“I’m drowning in this vast sea of nothingness all the time and I don’t know what to do to fix it. I don’t know how to fix things.” Your tears are free flowing as you bear your soul to him.
His heart fractures in two to hear what you’re going through. “What’s there to fix, baby?”
“Everything, Jake. Me, my grades, our relationship, my parents, all of it. Nothing is the way it should be. I’m not the way I should be. And I know you told me to focus on my recovery. I’m trying. But it all just feels wrong.” You don’t know how else to describe the hollowness in your chest to him without
Taking his hands from your grip, he plants them firmly on your hips as he slides you further to the edge of the stool so you could wrap your legs around his waist. Jake shakes his head and kisses you on the nose. “I know you’re trying and I am so proud of you. Don’t worry about your parents and your grades right now. We’ll deal with it when we get there.”
“We?” You choke out meekly.
He continues with a lovesick smile. “Yes, we. As for us, there’s nothing to be fixed between us. I know we never talked about it in detail, but baby, I forgave you the second I walked out that door.”
He kisses away your tears as they continue to flow down your cheeks. “I just wish I was there for you sooner. I wish I could fix this for you. If I could, I would carry the weight of it all on my shoulders. But Ace, if lost is what you are, then I will find your missing pieces. I will be by your side, helping you figure out what you lost.”
The heavy pressure on your chest gives way. No one has ever cared for you the way Jake does. No words could describe just how much you loved him. If there was any other way you could express your gratitude for the boy, you would.
In that moment, words fail you, and you resort to showing him how much you love him instead.
You lean up to brush your lips against his, softly at first. The heat in your cheeks heightens at his calloused fingertips sneaking under your shirt and digging into the skin of your hips.
Pulling you closer against him than you thought was possible, he relaxes into your touch as you let your own hands wander to his sun kissed hair.
Jake doesn’t hesitate to let his lips loosen against yours as he kisses you back fervently. Your lips glide against one another, performing motions the two of you knew by heart. Chest to chest, hip to hip, lips against lips, he continues to kiss you like a man desperate for air.
“Ace,” he pulls away breathlessly. “Let me take care of you, please?”
Opening your eyes to be met with the most beautiful hues of green, you nod against him.
With your permission, he takes you upstairs to show you just how much you mean to him.
_________________
Intimacy isn’t something you and Jake are unfamiliar with. He has seen you bare and you have seen him in the same state. Physical intimacy, however, was a little more on the reserved side. Earlier on in your relationship Jake had talked to you about boundaries and what you were and weren’t ready for. Still respecting your wishes, no matter how desperately he wanted you, he promised he’d wait until you were ready.
So no, you hadn’t slept together just yet, but the two of you were more than comfortable with being vulnerable with one another.
Sitting in the warm water, you sigh as Jake softly rubs his fingers through your wet hair. The smell of lavender fills the air as the two of you sit together in the bathtub.
The feel of his chest is slippery against your back from the bath soap you had pumped into the tub. Being engulfed in Jake’s scent and his warmth, soothed your aching body.
Your left arm was wrapped securely in a large trash bag as you rested it against the rim of the tub. It wasn’t the most flattering accessory, but it didn’t make the moment any less romantic.
He was gentle as he carefully assessed your body, lathering you with soap. Jake was careful of your injuries, letting his lips show each of them some love. To speed up the healing process, he had said.
You sat contentedly in his arms, feeling closer to him than you have in weeks. You intertwine your free hand with his that rests atop your abdomen, leaning back on his chest and settling into his shoulder.
“You alright, baby?” Jake asks. He’s afraid that your pain medication was beginning to wear off due to your tight grip on his hand.
Bringing your lips to the hinge of his jaw, you breathe, “I’m alright.”
Jake focuses on your steady breaths as the two of you stay in each other’s embrace. He was, quite literally, holding his heart in his hands. You were his entire world, the center of his universe. Everything revolved around you, even if you didn’t know it.
“Thank you for telling me about how you’re feeling,” he says softly into your ear. “I’m sorry you felt like you had to carry all of that on your own.”
You hum in response. “You’ve just done so much for me already, I felt like I had to start doing some things for myself.”
“It’s okay if you’re not ready, Ace. But just know you don’t have to go through it alone. Asking for help doesn’t make you weak. You are so strong—one of the strongest people I know. And if anyone can get through this, it’s you,” he confesses.
“You think so?” You can’t help the hope brewing in your chest and the smile that tugs on your lips.
“I know so. And all of us will be there for you every step of the way. I will be here for you, always. I love you.”
You look up, taking in the glow of his smile.  “I love you too.”
Jake’s love for you was brighter than the sun—golden like the daylight seeping through your bathroom window.
You knew things wouldn’t get better overnight. You knew you still had a long way to go before you were completely healed.
He was the light guiding you through the darkness, just like you do for him. Jake’s warmth would protect you from the cold and bitter storms brewing in the confines of your mind that threatened to drag you down.

*September 26, 2003* ~Later That Evening~ "So, the answer would be 783?" Sarah appears unsure. You give her a reassuring nod, "Exactly. Great job. You know, as much as I dread going to work every day, I'm so glad I don't have to do homework anymore." The two of you are sitting on her bed agonizing over her algebra homework.
As she piles up all of her papers into her folder, you wander around her room, examining all of the little touches that make the room hers. There is a simple, yet strong feminine touch to her room. A clear representation of the latest teen trends, and yet it is all a reflection of her youthful vibrance.
The poster in the corner of the room catches your eye, "You really do love Halican Drops huh?" "It's my dream to see them in concert one day," she says with a sparkle in her eye. "I think we should go sometime," you wink at her.
She jumps off of her bed, "Are you serious?"
"Yeah, I saw them once live and they are amazing. It would be even more fun to go with another fellow superfan."
Her enthusiastic expression turns to a more solemn one. Extending your arm out to her you bring her back over to the bed to sit down, "What's wrong Sarah?"
She pauses and takes a deep breath, "My dad is a good man...but he's been through a lot. He has been hurt a lot. Uncle Tommy has tried to get him to date, but nothing ever comes of it. That's why I know you are different."
"W-what?" Your brain stutters for a moment, struggling to process what is happening.
"I know you slept over last night. And before you freak out about that, I just want you to know that it makes me happy to see my dad as optimistic as he's been. He's come out of his shell again. I swear to God everything we talk about somehow comes full circle back to you too. The other day I said I want to go to Disney World and he told me how you have a baby picture of yourself with Mickey Mouse on your fridge. That was my first signal that my suspicions have been accurate."
Leaning forward, you take her hands into yours once more, "Sarah...if any of this makes you uncomfortable at all please tell me. I would never want to overstep or make you feel like-"
"Hey hey hey, I'm so happy about this. Since you moved in a year ago, you've slowly brought my dad back to me. I can see the way he looks at you, it's kind of how he looks at me...but different."
Tightening your grasp around her hands, you draw her into a hug. She settles into your embrace and whispers, "Just don't hurt him." Kissing the top of her head you quietly express, "I'll keep him safe I promise."
»»————- ♡ ————-«« The rest of the night is spent waiting on Joel to get home. You and Sarah intensely watched the clock as the hours passed by, wondering when he'd get back.
Finally, the door-knob to the front door begins to shake and you can hear Joel mutter a curse word when he realizes it's locked. "Well, you locked the door for once, good job," he acknowledges Sarah once inside. "That's because I made her," you stare down at her. Nothing can hide the disappointment on her face. She'd wanted so badly to spend the day celebrating her dad, and nothing had gone according to plan.
The young girl kindly reprimands her father for coming home past the time he'd promised AND for forgetting to bring home a cake, she makes him swear to make up for it tomorrow. Eager to move past the awkwardness and save Joel a little embarrassment, you signal to Sarah to give him his watch.
"Fixed it for you," her hopeful eyes look to his in search of commendation and gratitude. He tricks her into thinking that the watch wasn't properly fixed and you watch the two of them with such admiration, for the beautiful bond they have. The ability to have a deep father, daughter relationship and yet be each other's best friends was so endearing. You never want to come between them, but you'd be honored to have a front-row seat to their little family unit.
"Where'd you get the money for this?" He inquires.
"Drugs. I sell hardcore drugs," she says in all seriousness.
You and Joel laugh in unison, your eyes meeting briefly before turning your attention back to his daughter.
"Actually," she rests her head on your shoulder, "Y/N helped."
There is a pleased look in his eye, as his gaze meets yours. It's as if some element of peace washed over him and pure contentment settled into his rough features. It's been years since a woman showed him this much kindness, and you'll be damned if that job ever goes to someone else. »»————- ♡ ————-«« Sarah had fallen asleep to a movie, her head laying in Joel's lap. The two of you kept stealing glances throughout the movie. You feel his fingertips graze your shoulder and you turn to him, resting your head on the back of the sofa.
"Hi Joel," your pupils dilate.
"Hi beautiful," his eyes twinkle, fixated on studying every detail of your face.
Very quickly, you learn that your conversations do not need words to feel meaningful. The tilts of your heads, the shrugs of your shoulders, the serene sighs of surrender when you feel completely at ease with one another. Both of you are soothed by each other's presence and it is evident even in the voids of quietness. In those moments you can fully savor the company of the other and thrive off of the respect and admiration that radiates from you. There is a feeling of safety and confidence that stays between you and has existed since the beginning of your friendship.
The sharp ringing of the phone snaps you both back to reality. He answers it. You can't make out the words but can tell it is Tommy on the other line. With a heavy sigh, Joel falls back against the couch in defeat.
Damn it Tommy. You got yourself locked up again, didn't you?
Joel turns to you, jaw clenched with annoyance, forehead furrowed in disappointment. He wants to stay here with you a little while longer.
You offer to remain at the house and make sure Sarah is taken care of while he picks up Tommy. He takes her upstairs to tuck her into her bed. Dragging himself back downstairs, he rolls his neck from one side to the other in an endeavor to relieve the kinks. Stifling a yawn, you meet him halfway in the living room.
"We'll be here when you get back."
Although his expression was pensive, it eases slightly as you pull him out of his thoughts and back into the present with you.
"Thank you for staying with Sarah. Hell, sleeping over two nights in a row...things are getting serious." He gives you a goofy smile.
"Go!" You let out a short laugh and shove him out the front door. »»————- ♡ ————-«« As the hours rolled by, your sense of urgency grew. Joel should have been back with Tommy by now. Eager to distract yourself you turn on the television and aimlessly channel surf until you discover a movie that piques your interest. Another hour of watching the front door, willing Joel and Tommy to walk through it, passes by.
Drowsiness begins to overtake you. You take your eyes off of the television screen not wanting to exert any more effort into looking at it. Each muscle in your body begins to release the tension of the day, one by one as you settle onto the couch. The faint buzz of the television lulls you to the edge of sleep in mere moments.
Jolted awake by the deafening rumble of helicopters passing overhead, you fight off the dream that is still clouding your mind. Everything from your eyelashes to your feet feels heavy. Resting your eyes once more, you grant yourself another moment to enjoy the void of unconsciousness.
That moment is interrupted by Sarah shaking you awake.
"Y/N, what's going on? I think I can see explosions outside..."
Groggily sitting up, your vision finally focuses on the TV just past Sarah. The channel that was airing a movie not too long ago is now distorted with static. Sarah picks up the remote and changes the channel.
"STAY INDOORS! Law enforcement and emergency services are in the area and will be in contact with further instructions."
"What the f-"
Your attention shifts from the national alert to the sound of scratching at the window. The Adler's dog is loose and attempting to get into the house.
Okay, this night CANNOT get any stranger.
"It's Mercy! We need to see if he's okay," Sarah rushes to the door. You grab her arm, "Uh, I don't think that's a good idea. I think we need to stay inside right now and keep the doors locked."
"But he never gets loose. What if something is wrong with the Adlers?"
Suppressing the dread that is developing rapidly within you, you swallow your fear for Sarah's sake. You have to keep things calm and safe for her.
"Alright," you smooth your hand over her hair, "I'm gonna go over to my house and grab my nursing kit okay? Let me go check on them, but you do not, and I am so serious right now....do NOT leave this house by any means. Understand?"
She was too frightened to even lift her head, rather she stared out the window at the distant flares of light coming from the city.
You kneel to her level and hold her for a moment, "Everything is going to be alright okay?"
"Can I see if Mercy is okay?"
Conceding, you cautiously open the door and allow Sarah to clutch onto the dog. "Remember Sarah, do not leave the house."
Your pulse beats in your ears, as you turn to face your house. Although your mind is intent on making the trek across the street, it is as if your feet are cemented to the ground.
You tell yourself that being a little nervous is a completely normal reaction to what is going on. But that's just it, what IS going on?
God Joel, where the hell are you?
»»————- ♡ ————-««
"Damn it Tommy can you drive any faster?"
Tommy's grip on the wheel tightens, finding an odd comfort in the grooves between his fingers.
"Joel, I am going as fast as I can okay? They will be fine. Sarah is a smart girl and she has Y/N who won't let anything bad happen to them."
Joel could not wrap his mind around any of the events that transpired once he left his home to go get Tommy. One second he was in the comfort of his living room, within arms reach of the woman he'd just spent the most incredible night with. And his daughter, the embodiment of his heart and soul, was safe asleep on his lap. Next thing he knows, he and Tommy are being chased by a stampede of rabid-like inmates at the Travis County Jail. He could no longer restrain the tremors in his hands, shaking in an irregular rhythm.
"You really care about this girl don't you," Tommy's voice manages to break through the wall of thoughts blockading Joel from thinking clearly.
Recalling the night before, he is transported back to the moment when you pulled his shirt over his head and started grazing your hands across his chest, down the ridge in between his abs. It was a sensory overload, every nerve ending in his body tingled with anticipation. The two of you collapsed onto his bed, your bodies trembling as you bonded with every motion, each passionate touch leaving a flaming sensation on your skin. Your hearts raced in tempo with one another, like a symphony crescendoing to its epic finale.
"I do. This is the only time since Sarah's mom left that I've felt alive. Young again, invincible." Joel has never felt so certain in his life about someone, not even his ex-wife. Being with you is effortless. In your presence, he feels weightless. Like a drug, you drew him in slowly, tempting his every desire. At first, he took you in, little by little. And without detection, he became addicted. »»————- ♡ ————-«« Emerging from your home, nursing kit in hand, you prepare yourself for whatever you might face at the Adler's home. Surely it is nothing too grave, and yet you can't help but wonder why her kids didn't come to get you or call 911 if something happened to Nana?
Passing Joel's house, panic passes over you, causing the fine hairs on the back of your neck to rise. The front door is still open. Your mind races faster than your feet as you rush into the house. The endless possibilities as to what could've happened to her plague you.
You are confident that if anything happens to Sarah, Joel will strangle you with his bare hands...and not in a pleasurable way. Even if you told that stubborn girl not to move a finger from where you left her. She reminds you so much of yourself though. Curiosity can be so enticing at times that it blinds a person. Especially someone with as honorable of a heart as Sarah's.
"Sarah!" You frantically call out in each room.
Where are she and that damn dog?
Joel, hurry up. Please.
After surveying the entirety of the house to no avail, your chest tightens, and your lungs feel as though they have been wrung out of oxygen. Unsure of whether or not your lack of oxygen is due to the running or the panic attack creeping up on you, you take a moment to gather your thoughts. Mind over matter. Where would she go?
The dog. The damn dog. She's at the Adler's.
The next few seconds are a blur. You are uncertain how you got to the Adler's doorstep so swiftly. It felt like you were practically flying. Similar to Joel's home, the front door is open.
This girl needs to learn how to not only lock doors but actually CLOSE them.
A sickening sensation flares through your body as you peer into the still home. There go the hairs on the back of your neck again, but this time, the tingling sensation snakes down your spine and arms too.  Instinctually, you know not to go in there. But, Sarah is in there and she matters more than any gut feeling or self-preservation right now.
"Sarah?"
Apprehensively, you venture deeper into the house. That's when you lay eyes on her, frozen in the kitchen. Unclear as to what she is fixated on, you join her in the doorway. That's when you see it. A trail of blood leads directly to Mr. Adler, his mouth agape and his limbs contorting. At first, the sight does not phase you. As a nurse working in an emergency room, you handle bloody wounds day in and day out. It's not until you look closely at where the blood is coming from that your fears reignite.
Is that...a bite wound?
A guttural noise captures your attention. Following Sarah's line of sight, terror sucks the very breath from your lungs. There is Nana, atop Mrs. Adler. Another river of blood floods from the daughter-in-law's neck.
Nana's raspy breathing slows to a more even tempo as she raises her eyes toward you. Vine-like appendages protrude from her mouth, attaching themselves to Connie's neck. The drumming of your heart, deafening and irregular, obscures your mind with fear.
Fight? Or flight? First, get Sarah as far away as possible.
Latching onto Sarah's arm, you tug her behind you.
One word. "Run."
Keeping your eyes on the gasping old woman, you ready yourself to prevent her from reaching Sarah at all costs. You listen intently for Sarah's footsteps pounding out of the house until you are positive she's made it outside.
You can feel the flight responses taking over your body, flooding you with increased adrenaline.
Nana stumbles to her feet as she releases a splintering screech. That is when the adrenaline ceases full control over your body, sending you hurdling towards the front door. Whatever creature has possessed the once docile elderly lady, is now hot on your heels. Her bone-chilling snarls signal you to her presence behind you.
Just as you begin to fear the worst outcome, you see him.
"Don't go," Joel's pleas echo in your mind from mere hours ago.
The thought of being wrapped up in his secure embrace once more drives you to push your legs harder.
Anguish pierces his voice as he calls out your name. Even so, it translates into a calming melody that brings some clarity to your mind.
"Get behind me..." He motions you over to Sarah.
As you hold her trembling frame, you turn back to Nana who is collapsed on the ground. Her limbs are mangled and her eyes are void of any life. Suddenly, the sharp cracking of her bones churns your stomach. Like a rabid animal, she growls and sprints toward Joel on all fours. Rising to her feet and closing in on him, she flails her arms wildly.
"What are we doing Joel!?" Tommy exclaims.
Without hesitation, Joel swings the wrench clutched in his fist and lands one solid blow to the side of the woman's head, sending her motionless body to the ground. Sarah screams and you quickly shield her from the sight of her father standing over their neighbor's corpse...or at least the shell of what she used to be.
Joel rushes to his daughter's side and caresses her cheek, looking her over to make sure she's safe and in one piece.
"You killed her," she cries in disbelief as she collapses into his arms.
He tightens his grip on her, "Baby, I'm sorry." He pulls away and stares into her eyes with strength and focus, "It's not just the Adlers. But we're gonna be brave and we're gonna get out of this."
Not just the Adlers? The helicopters flying towards the city...whatever took control of Nana did not die with her, she was merely the introduction.
Feeling lightheaded, you lean against Tommy's truck. He rushes to your side and holds you up, "You got that nursing kit of yours?"
"N-no. Inside," you point to Joel's house.
One by one, generators and streetlights begin to explode. Sparks of orange and gold, light up the sky over your neighborhood.
Joel ushers Sarah into the car and turns to face you. For a brief moment, time stands still. His pupils dilate, as he looks at you, the woman who made the future look like skies as clear as sapphire. Yet, he recognizes a shift in the atmosphere. A shared dread hanging over you like a dark, impenetrable cloud. His hands tremble, searching for yours to steady them. He twitches, his body responding to your delicate touch.
"Don't go." He implores you. His signature phrase to you. That in itself could be your new love language.
Attempting to open your mouth to speak, no words flow out. A simple nod is all you can manage. With that permission, he hurries you into the truck, meanwhile warning another one of your neighbors to stay inside and lock her door. Once Joel is inside, you lean forward and drape a reassuring hand on his shoulder. A subtle, but significant sign of solidarity. He laces his fingers with yours and holds you in place against the back of his seat.
As aggressively as Tommy floors the truck into motion, he brings it to a screeching halt. The headlights of the truck illuminate the Adlers stumbling onto the street. Their limbs are just like that of Nana's, wrenched and fidgeting.
"Get your seatbelts on," Joel declares.
Tommy warns, "Hold on..."
His foot finds its way back to the accelerator with no delay. Bracing yourself for the unthinkable you turn to Sarah, "Come here." She folds into your lap, a whimper escaping her lips. The Adlers charge at the truck simultaneously. Connie soon disappears from view as the truck plows over her and sideswipes Danny.
Closing your eyes, you do everything in your might to hold down the bile rising in your throat.
Sarah sits up and wipes a few stray tears from her eyes, "Daddy-"
"We don't know," Joel interrupts.
You shake your head in disbelief, "The Adlers, they were infected with something, some kind of parasite maybe?"
"That's what they're saying on the radio, some kind of virus," Tommy confirms.
"Are we sick?" The young girl persists.
"No. Of course not," Joel's fearful tone turns to a more frustrated one. As a father, his instinct is to protect his daughter and provide her with comfort, but he has no clue what kind of threat lies ahead and can't give her satisfying answers. You tighten your hold on his hand, and he gives you a firm squeeze.
Joel's brother slows the truck as you spot a family pulled off onto the side of the road.
"Tommy, don't," you state firmly. The family shouts after you in desperation.
"But they have a kid."
"So do we," Joel glares at Tommy.
It's officially every man for themselves. Each outsider you bring into your safety net becomes a variable. An unpredictable risk that could put you and the people you care most about in grave danger.
Beams of crimson light glow in the distance, a vast sea of unmoving taillights. Seems like everyone in Austin had the escape plan as you, sending Tommy into a frenzy.
"It's okay, just think it through, we'll think it through," Joel says in repetition, not just for Tommy, but also to ease himself.
Coming from the opposing direction, panicked vehicles race towards you, and away from the perpetual gridlock that hundreds of other cars are trapped in.
Looking out the window into the vast, empty land that stretches for miles uninterrupted, you have a plan.
"Tommy, the field. It's the perfect detour. Cut across it and we will end up on the west side."
Speedily, he veers off onto the barren land. A stampede of cars follows behind you. The collective rays of the headlights light your path to....another dead end. The highway is infested with army vehicles crawling along it.
Tommy and Joel bicker over what the next move should be. Joel opts for a small town on the north side.
"And then what?" You interject.
Joel steadies himself against the dash, the unstable terrain tossing your bodies left and right.
"I don't know. Mexico. Just far, far as we can."
Sarah's eyes gloss over. "Maybe it's everywhere. Maybe there's nowhere to go."
"Hey, hey look at me. We are going to be fine. As long as the four of us stick together, we will be fine. There will be somewhere for us to go and find safety. I promise you, we won't let anything happen to you," you place your hand over your heart and affirm to her.
The dilemma is, you don't know if you can even accept what you promised Sarah. This isn't some influenza you can shelter in place from. The battle is against mankind's worst enemy, man. But not normal men, men being transformed into monsters.
"I-I believe you." Sarah's faith in you is unshakeable, "And I love you too Y/N."

A problem I have with Richie, and the funeral thing.
Tumblr media
In the first real scene we have with him and Carmy in the pilot, Richie tells him:
"I have divorce papers expecting me because I was trying to keep your family together because you were too much of a cock sucker to come home"
I think there is 3 things that bother me about this, I will try to keep it breef:
Richie did what he wanted to do.
Like, is Richie calling him selfish because Carmy decided to do something for himself, be far from the family that hurt him, as opposed to what was expected from him? The role of "keeping the family together? The role that Mickey had? The role Richie desperately would like to have, as an excuse to be part of the family, since he didn't have a family of his own? the reason he copied Mickey's personality growing up?
2. Carmy was invisible
Richie blaming Carmy for not coming home reminded me of cases of children abused by their relatives, who are expected to treat those relatives with love and respect in order to "keep the family together" or whatever bullshit. Regardless of how much that applies in the context of Mickey's funeral, let's consider some things from Carmy's perspective
His brother, who was the closest thing he had to a father, who in his eyes was almighty and the strongest of all of them, the love he desperately needed and had rejected him. That brother died from suicide. It wouldn't surprise me to discover that Carmy just didn't show up to work anymore after finding out, and was subsequently fired. I have trouble even imagining that amount of shock.
He blamed himself, his mom, and Mickey.
He was never able to find confort in his mother. Was he supposed to willingly see his mom, the person who hurt him the most, for the first time in months over the body of the person Carmy loved the most?
At the bottom of all of this, I think Mickey, and in consequence, Richie, were blind to how deeply Carmy was struggling, even growing up. Which brings me to my last point.
3. Richie keeps calling Carmy "a child"
Tumblr media
Richie refers to Carmy as a child on multiple occasions, he even calls Sydney a "fucking baby." He likes to use the age difference to make himself bigger and useful. This is the aptitude we can presume he had while Carmy was growing up, he has all right to think of Carmy as a child because that is how Mickey saw him. So I am just gonna say this:
In the end, you lost a friend, he lost a brother, and he is a lot younger than you, but he owes you his support? What the fuck you expected from Carmy? That child, was supposed to confort you? The little brother of your best friend, that you probably had to walk from school at some point, was supposed to be a support to you? Was it even about that? Was it something else?
Are you still clinging to Carmy in the hope of proving yourself that you are as good as Mickey? That you are worthy of love?
Was Carmy not coming running to you, crying, the ultimate proof, that you are not Mickey? Is that why you can't let it go?

I love finding a fellow Debbie appreciator in the shameless fandom because I absolutely hate the unending crap she gets for simply growing up from a traumatised child into an adult who has never been given the space or support to deal with her issues.
Anyways I was wondering what your thoughts were on the Gallagher sibling dynamics? Because my unpopular opinion for years has always been that Ian (and Debbie to an extent) was made in Fiona’s image with dash of forgotten middle child syndrome. He was her first baby and took on a lot of her good and bad characteristics except he has a slightly higher level of emotional intelligence than her and the rest of his siblings. My Roman Empire is wondering what the Fiona-Lip-Ian dynamic was in their early days. That and baby Mickey and Mandy Milkovich
Thanks for asking :pp
sorry this took so long to answer I had like a really hard time knowing what to talk about so this is VERY unorganised hope I answered u still!! Also super long anyway
One of my favourite things about the Gallaghers is how they are all a little bit like fiona. Ian and Debbie the most but in the others too. Debbie is extremely caring. She would do anything for the people she loves, especially franny. She 100% got this from fiona. She grew up watching fiona throw her needs aside for her siblings' time and time again, and I really think she took this to heart. Both fiona and Debbie are willing to do anything for family. They also share this kinda "mean" shell. What I mean by that is that they both can come across as mean when they never really want to do anyone harm. Where as fiona was pushed into the motherly role, debbie wanted to be a mother. To me, this makes her selfishness even more prominent? I'm not sure if that's the right word. Debbie doesn't need to desperately seek recognition for all her hard work in the Fiona has had to.
Ian is determined and an incredibly hard worker. His resilience is something he learned from fiona. Ian is old enough to have watched fiona have to adapt to caring for even more children while being young enough that he wasn't always expected to help. He watched fiona work job after job, sometimes more than one at a time. In the same way Ian found his job with being an EMT, I can see fiona having the same kinda thing she just never found her job, yk? Fiona and Ian are good at taking charge, adapting. Not only this, but they both great at talking to people, VERY charming.
Lip is stubborn. He's self-destructive. Those are some of the more unfortunate traits to get from fiona, but he's also a great problem solver and a natural talent. I don't think this is something he really got from her entirely, but they are obviously similarities. Fiona and Lip are the closest in age so often worked together, they solved problems together. It's a trait they picked up as a team because fiona is older, so I'm assuming it's something that came to her quicker. Fiona was a natural at track. She was amazing working towards these record-breaking goals. Lip is a natural genius (sadly not physically gifted like fiona Poor Guy is losing every fight). They didn't reach their potential, both dropping out. I do think lip actually got his stubbornness from fiona, tho. Lip and fiona share a lot of similarities because they are so close in age.
Carl is very childish and playful. He struggled with knowing what he wanted, like he went through so many phases. He has the same bright smile as fiona but also her indecisiveness. Fiona goes through a few phases, mainly hopping career paths. These are kinda like Carl's many phases. Carl is the 2nd youngest and is the first one I think who really did see fiona as a mum sometimes. I can see Carl always mistakenly calling fiona Mum as a kid. He's outgrown that. I know a lot of people wanna be like, "Carl is the only one who appreciated fiona." I don't think that's true. I think he just appreciates her in a more motherly way(while obviously still knowing fiona is his sister, please don't think in saying Carl things she is his mum or something) Carl disrespects fionas just as much as the others but he also shoes his affection more clearly. Anyway, a bight smiles and phases are what Carl got from fiona.
We don't really get to see Liam because he's so young when the show ends. We do get to see Liam as a leader/manager. Fiona was a great manager for the majority of the time(she had her bad moments). Leadership is something Liam got from fiona. I definitely think Liam is gonna be the most different from his siblings, tho because he isn't growing up with fiona looking after him + no Monica, no Frank. I wish fiona had taken Liam with her because they are such a cute duo but yk.
Talking about fiona/lip and Ian as kids now
I think they all would have been very close as kids. First of course because they are all closest to age. They were discovering things for the first time together.
I think a lot of the reason ian and Lip dont appreciate( IK THE DO I JUST DO NOT THE RIGHT WORD) fiona as much is because they are closer in age the the other 3. They don't value all the help fiona gave them because they were also helping her. They saw all her first mistakes and were the ones to help her learn. They see her less as a guardian/ parental figure and more of the big sister she is. Idk if I'm getting mh going across rn so imma move on.
Lip has always been very smart so j think fiona and Lip were a really strong team as kids. Fiona had the advantage that she was older, a people person and Lip was sort of the brains. Fiona, in her own respect, is smart too.
Ian was the baby for a while. He was the one Lip and fiona were working to protect, and I think he got typical little brother treatment. Brother bullying from Lip and smothering love and teasing from fiona. Where as Lip was a real team with fiona a lot of the time Ian was just learning from them. I think this is why he's more emotionally intelligent than them both while having some of their better traits. When Debbie is born, he stops being the baby and starts to get pushed into the independent forgotten middle child role we see him as.
Lip and fiona are a partnership, but lip and Ian are best friends. They all love each other, but lip and Ian are just closer. This pushes fiona away and makes her cling more to the caretaker role. Ian and Lip are closer in age they go to school together, share a room. Fiona is sometimes left out from actual childish sibling bonding. I think she would have been ecstatic when Debbie is born because of this. The boys stick together and now she has a sister to stick with too.
Some random head cannons I have of them as kids
Ian and goes through a coping phase and is always mimicking fi and lip.
Fiona is always using cheesy and sweet nicknames for Ian, like sweet face bit it gets less when Debbie is born. The pet names mean a surprising amount to ian
Lip was always arguing that he should take care of the money but fi doesn't let him.
They come up with the squirrel fund after a school project/something one of them learns in school but it gets more serious when Debbie is born.
Lip gets fiona a dvd player for her 12 birthday and ir sparks her love for movie nights.
A little about the milkovichs now.
Mickey and mandy were also close as kids because of the only Yr age difference, but they drifted. Mickey will always try to look after mandy and protect her, but they grow up, and mandy realises mickey can't always save her. Mickey isn't super strong.
Mickey has to start hiding who is his and that puts a strain on their relationship. Mickey is just another gross boy now instead of her super strong kind brother.
Baby mandy and mickey were always together , they have 1000 inside jokes ans I see them as the kind of siblings who tell people their twins and have their own language. It's hard for them to make other friends but they have eachother.
Mandy will sneak into mickeys room when she's scared, and that's one of the only things that last till she's a teen. She still does it during s1. Mickey never sleeps with his door locked so mandy can get in even tho he really wants to. Mandy locked the door behind her and sits on the edge of mickeys bed. Sometimes, she waits for him to wake up, but most of the time, she pushes his leg till he wakes up and lets her climb in beside him. She will hide in his arms, and he holds her till she falls back to sleep. Then, never talk about it. As they get older, mandy stops waking mickey up. She steals a blanket and crashes on the sofa. Mickey keeps it in his room till he's forced to room with svet.
They donr talk about their feelings but they understand eachoth34 the most out of the other siblings. I like to imagine them getting close again after the show

if the shoe fits
This one was very fun, and I enjoyed including mentions of my oc baby Moni. To read more about Moni, check out this ao3 series!
This is the prompt generator I used!
Prompt 5: Mickey gets into a heated argument with someone. Mickey begins threatening them, so Ian picks up Mickey and carries/drags them out of the room before anyone gets hurt.
Word Count: 613
Rated: T
Ian knows the lady thinks she’s paying them a compliment.
After all she is a middle aged white woman with a classic Karen slanted bob and huge fucking diamond on her ring finger.
She also happens to be Moni’s third grade teacher.
So when Mrs. Lockport says: “Monica is exceeding expectations for her grade level! You must be so proud. You’re doing a wonderful job of raising her… considering…” Ian figures the rest of the sentence would have not been so flattering if she had the guts to finish it.
Out of the corner of his eye, he can see Mickey processing what the woman had just said to them. It’s only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose.
“Well! Thanks for everything ma’am! I think we’ll head home now!” Ian wraps his arm around Mickey and attempts to turn him towards the door of the classroom, but Mickey’s body’s gone ridged and he’s focused squarely on Mrs. Lockport.
“I’m sorry,” Mickey lets out a caustic chuckle, and it would probably seem harmless and pleasant if Ian didn’t know exactly what’s coming next. “What was that? Considering what?”
Mrs. Lockport begins to backpedal. “Listen, Mr. Milkovich, I only meant-”
“I know what you fuckin’ meant.” Mickey snaps, and Ian’s fingers tighten on his shoulder.
“Mick.” Ian hisses in his ear, but there’s no stopping a tantrum in the works.
“You meant, ‘considering she was adopted by two gay-ass ex-cons with anger issues and bad fuckin’ attitudes’. That’s what you were gonna say, wasn’t it?” Mickey is seething now and Ian places his other hand on the opposite shoulder, getting ready to intervene. He wants to point out to Mickey that he’s not exactly proving her wrong.
Mrs. Lockport initially looks horrified, but suddenly there’s a hard edge in her eyes and her jaw squares. She leans across her desk and narrows her gaze at Mickey.
“I wasn’t going to say any such thing, actually…” She grins smugly “... but if the shoe fits.”
That’s the last straw apparently. Mickey tries to lunge forward and Ian’s reflexes kick in, holding him back from yet another physical assault charge. In a lot of ways, Mickey’s calmed down a lot over the years, but one of the things that still never fails to get him spitting fire is anything related to his kids.
The only thing Ian can do is get his husband out of there before things go even further south.
“Okay, enough.” Ian grunts, spinning Mickey towards the door and hauling the smaller man away. “Time to go, Mickey.”
All the while Mickey is throwing insults and struggling to break free, but this isn’t Ian's first rodeo. He’s got a firm grip on Mickey’s wriggling frame, and Ian manages to successfully herd him out the door in record time.
Ian pulls the door closed until there's a gap small enough to poke his head back through.
“Sorry for the disruption ma’am. Like I said, Moni loves being in your class.” Ian placates the woman, although it kills him to do it. Mickey is clawing at him, trying to get back in the door, but Ian’s a solid blockade in his path.
Mrs. Lockport clears her throat and smooths down a few blonde flyaways. “Mr. Gallagher, I think it would be best if Mr. Milkovich stays home next time we have a parent-teacher conference, don’t you think?”
Now it’s Ian’s turn to fume, although he’s not as loud about it. “I can’t promise that’s going to happen. Maybe next time don’t be so condescending and we won’t have this issue. Have a great night.”
It feels good to slam the door closed behind him.

hii may we have some ava and vivi headcanons please 🥺
Yes 🥺 I split them based on which AU they’re from specifically
***
Murmur
Vivi’s favourite colour is green and she takes that very seriously
Everything that can be green is
Water bottle? Green. Pill organizer? Green. Winnie’s service dog vest? Green with as many green patches as her mums could find
Ava let her pick out her “big girl bedding” when she moved from the toddler bed to a twin and of course Vivi picked a sage green flowery one
It’s pretty nice in Ava’s mind cuz she always knows what colour to pick for her daughter when it comes to anything
And her phone lockscreen is a picture of Sarah and Vivi at Disney both wearing green Mickey ears (Viv’s are princess Tiana themed <3)
***
Vivi was a fussy baby when it came to nap time
It was hard when she couldn’t breathe properly laying down and her nebulizer was too loud or she was in pain
During the worst of it the one thing that helped calm her down was Ava’s fish
Ava would hold her and stand in front of her big fish tank, swaying slightly as the both watched the fish swim around
And that’s why Vivi grew up with such a fascination with fish
So for her 4th birthday (and every birthday after that) she asked to go to the aquarium with her mums
The sharks are her favourite but she likes the jellyfish tunnels too cuz all the glowing lights
***
Crosshairs
Ava hates leaving for long cases because she knows her daughter doesn’t like change
She loves her job but she knows how hard it is on both of them
She always tries to take at least one weekend a month off
And they spend the time doing whatever Vivi wants
Most times she just wants to spend time playing with her mum there
Sometimes they meet auntie Penny and Sarah for lunch or a fun adventure
But usually Vivienne is content just cuddling with her mother and feeling safe with her finally home
***
Borderline
Ava was diagnosed with BPD soon after Vivi was born
It was a really hard thing to accept especially with the stress of being a mother and a surgeon
It made sense of course but it also caused her to confront a lot of her trauma and symptoms she tried so hard to ignore
And it explained way too many things Ava had been afraid to admit
The way Vivi became her entire world and the reason for her happiness
How she would swear she heard sounds that weren’t there or saw bugs crawling over her baby when there wasn’t one in sight
How she isolated herself from everyone and struggled to maintain simple relationships
Ava never wanted to admit she needed help but she knew enough about her disorder to see how it could affect Vivi
So she agreed to meet a psychiatrist every week
The first month or so she brought her daughter along
She had trouble trusting anyone else to watch her
But really it was clear that she needed her baby in her eyesight to keep her calm
That proved to be something her therapist had concerns about
Ava had to learn to let Vivi go and play and be her own little person sooner or later
Ava had work and Vivi would be fine in the hospital daycare
But it was so hard and it kept her up at night
Vivienne was HER baby, what if something happened at daycare or what or Vivi started to prefer the care staff more than her
It sounded so silly but it’s all her brain could think of
The last thing she wanted was for a split or episode to hurt her daughter though or hurt her career
So Ava agreed to take quetiapine (even though she insisted she DID NOT need antipsychotics)
And she kept going to therapy despite her hating talking about what she tried so desperate to hide from the world
But she did it for Vivi more than anything
She would put herself through any treatment if it meant her daughter would grow up in a loving and non-abusive environment
It’s what Ava had needed more than anything growing up and what she never got
And she made it clear she would never put Vivi through anything like that ever

Day 40
I left the sardine can of South Beach State Park and am due to leave Oregon today. I have picked most of my stops based on what I see on my upcoming route while looking at my National Geographic Adventure Atlas. If you like to road trip, travel, camp, the outdoors in general, I couldn’t suggest this atlas enough. I got one as a gift in 2007 and I have been a steadfast user ever since. So often there is no service when I’m traveling, and even if there is, it's hard to know where to start randomly googling to find what may interest me. It feels like a shot in the dark when there’s the world wide web out there and no point of reference to start at. Enter, the Nat Geo Adventure Atlas; it lists points of interest, scenic sights and drives, camps, parks, rest stops, weird stuff, some stuff that is intriguing because Google may not have a lot to say about it. I have found some amazing spots using this atlas and couldn’t suggest it enough. (*this post NOT sponsored by Nat Geo, although I kinda wish it was.)
Tumblr media
What did I see on the atlas this morning? Sea Lion Caves. Having no idea what it was, I headed out. It’s a privately run site that, contrary to what I’m used to in Texas, seems to be doing a pretty good job with conservation and protection of the land and the sea lions. I hadn’t realized I had seen shots of this famous cave so many times in my life, but surprise, there it is! This is the largest sea cave in the US and the sea lions congregate here in the winter. Being summer, they warned me there will be no sea lions in the cave, so they gave me a discount and a rain check to come back anytime in the future to try again. I’m ok with that, especially because just down the path towards the cave, I stopped to get a picture of a huge group of cormorants hanging out on a cliff face when, hey, lookie there, a bunch of sea lions. Everyone had just walked past them straight to the elevator, down to the cave that they know has no sea lions in it. They leave the cave in summer to their rookeries on the cliffs during summer in order to have their babies.
Tumblr media
I actually heard them before I spotted them, so I must have rolled a 20 on my wildlife skills. I pointed them out to all the passerby’s, who were amazed, especially those who had just journeyed to the empty cave.
Tumblr media
Down at sea level, they had plenty of exhibits in the cave, even telling you the sea lions are probably on the cliffs outside since it’s summer. The cave was pretty, and I can imagine how cool it would be if it were filled with sea lions, but I enjoyed the video and the view of the lighthouse.
Tumblr media
Of course, I stopped on the way out to watch more sea lions (first time sea lion spotter here). I took the other hike to a coast view, where I spotted three lonesome sea lions hanging out just below the overlook. I got to see two of them jump into the water and jump up like a dolphin. All I can think of is that old cartoon I loved as a kid where the little baby seal follows Mickey Mouse home from the zoo and gets in the bathtub with him. What a great cartoon.
Tumblr media
I had some lunch on the road and headed down to Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, run by the Forest Service. I received the Oregon Dunes/Suislaw National Forest Junior Ranger Badge! I dedicate this badge to Bobbie and Bud. Thanks for supporting my fundraiser! It means the world to me to have family come to bat for something I not only care about, but I struggle with every day. I hope someday soon we can catch up at a gathering, it’s been so very long!
Tumblr media
I headed to a short, paved hike through the forest that would lead me to the dunes. I wasn’t going to head all the way to the ‘actual’ beach, as I am definitely not feeling up to a 2-mile hike, one-way, over sand dunes. I was happy enough reaching the edge of these goliaths, slipping out of my flip flops, and roaming up the nearest hill like Lawrence of Oregonia.
Tumblr media
I just sat up there a while, watching the wind blow an almost invisible layer of sand into the atmosphere. Even though this is a common entry point, once I was on top of the dune, the other side was pristine; no footprints, no sled marks.
Tumblr media
I love driving the Northwest coast, the same as I love just sitting on their beaches; the clouds though the Earth in a way that makes it look like the land just slips away into the sky and nothing lays beyond. The shroud of fog that, once you go through it, could be the portal to another world. It’s just so magical, watching the trees disappear into the mist, the horizon held hostage by white. The smudge of atmosphere that steals definition of land, sea, and sky.
Tumblr media
I arrived at the KOA Redwoods, which I’ve stayed at before. It’s by no means the nicest KOA, but it’s the prettiest one I’ve seen, as much of it is set back in a thick forest of (you’ll never guess) Redwoods and ferns. This time I booked a pull through site, guessing I would be tired, so I didn’t think I’d end up in the pretty forest. When I checked in, the clerk said they were refunding me $1.25, but didn’t know why. Odd…but ok..? I looked at the map and the spot wasn’t a pull through and was back in the hard to navigate maze of trees so I asked if the refund was because they took away the pull through site I booked. She looked kind of scared and said, “I guess so.” I don’t require much, but a little, “Oh yes, sorry about that.” Would have sufficed. I do get peeved when a company/employee can’t say “whoops, sorry about that” even if I know they can’t fix it (I’m looking at you, Halloweentown.)
I may have lost my pull-thru site, but at least I was tucked back in the redwoods. It did, however, take me 3 passes, even using a map, to find the road going into the forest that my site was down. But boy howdy, I got $1.25.

Can we see more of Ellie Belly and Uncle Bladey’s relationship?
Are they not the sweetest! Like, I know that Ellie is Papa's girl, but Blade and Ellie have the sweetest relationship. Especially when they spend the night with Blade and Lo, and Ellie just lays over his belly.

"Bladey, what're you doing baby?" you ask walking into the living room. Blade gives you a quick shush, and you look on his belly to see the sleeping Eliana. "Babies can sleep through a lot."
His hand rubs over her little baby hairs, face smooshed up against his chest, "She's been drooling on me for five minutes," he lets out a little airy giggle, but his mouth goes into a smiling O when she yawns in her sleep. "She's so beautiful."
Blade had started spending more time at the estate since Otto was born. No one but Story and Carter knew that Aster wasn't even expected. She kept it quiet until she couldn't anymore. She let you and Ransom hold her while she cried on your shoulder, telling you she was sorry for being such a disappointment.
Since meeting Mickey, you understood why she felt that way. Mickey is charming, funny, loveable, life of the party, and that was where his good qualities stopped. He wasn't father material. Ransom didn't like him the moment he met him. Ransom and Story both spotted the user he was immediately. Blade stepped up. Moving completely back at the estate. Swore off the girls, so he could be the man to step up in Ellie's life.
He loved Otto, loved Story, tolerated Carter and kept a close eye on him, but he couldn't deny how much Carter loved that baby. The little sleeping baby girl on Blade's chest didn't have that, and boy did he love holding her on his chest. Started working from home more, to carry her around, strapped to his front. Had a monitor in his room, in case Aster wanted to sleep.
He was a good brother, and the perfect uncle. He knew that Aster was struggling with her relationship. Desired to have Mickey in her life, only to be disappointed time and time again. Ransom and Blade would always sit and lay with her. Them being the two to attend to Ellie. In ways, she was the first baby he played a big part in. Too young to played that big of a roll for Posie, but he felt Ellie was his duty.
His eyes start to drift as he continues patting on her back. You grab a throw blanket to drape over the two of them. Leaning down to give both of them kisses. "Keep each other safe you two. Blade is going to be your best friend, Ellie belly."
And throughout the years, that's what they were. At pre-school when she didn't have anyone to take her to the daddy/daughter dance, Blade was the one showing up with flowers in his hands.
Blade went to every soccer game, even if sometimes all she did was play in the grass. The one dance recital where she just flopped down in the floor refusing to do the routine, Blade cheered her on from the front. Your baby boy was the one that pulled her first tooth, when she cried that her mommy hurt her.
Even when Aster would have the random date nights, Blade would be at the estate, reading her and Otto a bedtime story, while the two of them fell asleep curled up next to him. It wasn't long until Ellie would get on her usual perch, laying belly down right on top of him. Always drooling. Blade had created such a precious bond with the both of them, but his relationship with Ellie was extra special.
Every time you saw him step up for his niece and nephew, you can't help but be so proud of him. On bad days for Story, and Carter had to spend extra time with her, Blade would make sure that Otto was far away and getting all the attention he deserved. You knew without a doubt, that boy was going to make one of the best daddies in the world. And he should, because he had the best.

And so, we hit 20 followers early, lol. Woo! If you have any critiques on my headcanons or want to add more, let me know!
Also, some of these probably don't make sense, so allow me to put in some context. I see Red as a secret hopeless romantic and that even when she's older, she enjoys reading about fairy tales and all that. And secretly loves watching Disney films. This is due to me loving Disney too much and getting ideas from them, lol.
But yeah, that's about it for some context that I can think I can explain right now. If you wanna ask anything about my headcanons, that's allowed too.
---
(These are headcanons for aged up Revin, just a warning/ saying. Just to be sure you guys know that. And also, these are subject to change at any point in time because I just love making hcs/ changing up my hcs for fun)
-Before they got together, they were always sad and watching from afar whenever the other was with someone. Now that they are together, they get jealous every now and again instead.
-But Kevin is the one who gets jealous more due to Red being one of the popular girls and is generally seen as a really pretty girl by most guys at their school.
-They both really frickin' love each other. Like if they had to give up their favorite thing just to be with the other, they would not hesitate to do so.
-Both of them are also huge dorky geeks and you can't tell me otherwise. Though Kevin is clearly more of a geek than Red.
-They have specific nicknames for each other. Kevin's nickname for Red is "My Goddess" or "My Alien Queen" and Red's nickname for him is "My Sweet Prince".
- But also, Red rarely calls him by his full name. Always calling him "Kev" unless she's mad at him.
- In the genderbent world/ universe, only Robbie has a nickname for Kassie so far. He calls her "My Sweet Star".
- They have specific ringtones for each other. Kevin has "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars for Red. And Red has "Love On Top" by Beyoncé for Kevin.
- Kevin got her a black rose necklace for one of her birthdays. The same black rose necklace she would constantly stare at whenever they had dates at the mall. She would tell him that he didn't need to buy it for her and yet he did, anyway. Meanwhile in a genderbent world, Robbie would have gotten Kassie a Star Trek necklace.
- Then what Red got Kevin that he treasures so much is a custom Stormtrooper motorcycle helmet that he wears whenever they go on rides on Red's motorcycle.
- Kevin always gets her a bouquet of red roses whenever he can afford it and Red does her best to lengthen the lives of the roses. While Robbie gives Kassie a bouquet of forget me nots.
-Their first kiss wasn't as romantic as Kevin hoped it would be, he ended up headbutting her out of pure nervousness. And despite getting better at kissing, Red regularly brings up the incident to him and her friends.
-Most of their dates consists of just watching Sci-Fi movies at Red's place with some snuggling in between.
-But their favorite kind of date is strolling around with ice cream in their hands. Well, it's mostly Kevin's favorite as he enjoys watching Red messily eat ice cream and happily cleaning her face.
-Though if their date is to somewhere outside and it gets cancelled because of rain, they will simply slow dance to old music with the rain softly being heard in the background.
-They always celebrate Chinese New Year together and even wear the traditional clothes for it. And once they get married and have a family of their own, they get their kids to wear traditional clothing too.
- And speaking of getting married... When they do get married, their first dance will be based on the first dance from the live-action Cinderella movie. (The only good live action adaptation, imo-)
- Because they loved practicing and performing that dance, they can't help but recreate it whenever they have nothing to do at home.
-They rarely go to Kevin's house to hang out because Kevin's mom will literally not leave the two alone despite Kevin's countless protests.
-Kevin's mom absolutely adores the red head Kevin is dating. Which Kevin appreciates but sometimes, she can be a bit too much.
- Red's parents, on the other hand, while they tease Red on how overwhelming sweet she is to Kevin, they respect them enough to leave them alone together. (That or they are too busy with each other, lol-)
-They love wearing matching outfits/ shirts whenever they go out for dates. (Yo, I don't know about you guys but this shit is legit the most cutest thing a couple can do) (Also, lowkey want to see them with like Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears but I can't draw, so yeah. :/)
-Because he's an adorable little gentleman, he always waits on Red after his basketball practice to take her home. Whether it be a long cheerleading or volleyball practice, he will always wait for her. Granted, because of how long they take, he ends up falling asleep each time but Red always appreciates the gesture and/or thought.
-Part of the headcanon above is Kevin learning first aid just to tend for Red whenever she gets injured during these practices.
- And then when it's Kevin who's busy with his practice for basketball, Red returns the favor by waiting for him and then taking him home on her motorcycle.
- During their respective events, the other will do their absolute best to cheer for the other.
-Kevin always takes stolen pictures of Red and posts them on Instagram with the caption "Just my red head goddess looking beautiful as always" or anything cheesy and sweet like that.
- Red does the same, sometimes. She captions them with the sweetest thing she could ever type or pretty much just describes what's happening in the picture.
-Kevin tries his best to be more suave and less dorky around Red by like trying to flirt and using tips from Kenny and Clyde but whenever he uses them on Red, he quickly becomes a blushing mess which Red always finds to be hella cute.
-Red just absolutely loves grabbing Kevin's face and giving him Eskimo kisses. To which, no one's surprise, Kevin absolutely loves, too.
-As much as other people dislike it, Red loves (or maybe gets even turned on, heh) whenever Kevin speaks all geeky and stuff like that. Meanwhile, Kevin really loves it whenever the girl speaks Klingon.
-No matter what Red does, Kevin will always find what she does to be the absolute most coolest shit he's ever seen. He always loves to gush about how cool his red head goddess is.
-Even though it's a struggle for her, Red's doing her best to give up her smoking addiction just for Kevin to stop worrying about her health.
-When they start living together, Kevin adopts an adorable Siberian Husky puppy for her to keep her company while he's at work and then that's their baby until they get married.
- But before that happens, he will be the one who buys her little black kitten, Serendipity, for one of her birthdays.
-Speaking of living together, the jobs they'll be having are the following: Kevin is a streamer who streams pretty much anything that he wants to stream and Red is a model. They keep their dating life private for the most time. Mostly due to Red not wanting to steal attention from Kevin in any streams.
(They didn't look like a lot from where I originally posted them but, I guess, I shouldn't be so surprised, lol. I am Revin trash, after all.)

Magic In The Parks
SUMMARY — and maybe he was meant to find love in the happiest place on earth, or maybe they were just strangers in the same room at the same time
WORD COUNT — 5.2k
NOTE — happy halloween, i’ve been working on this for nearly an entire month. it’s a bit rough around the edges, but i’m super proud of it!
ADD YOURSELF TO MY TAGLIST
───── ・ 。゚☆゚: *. ☽ .* : ☆゚. ─────
The air is sweeter in Florida, warmer too. Tom’s got his arms full of bags, and his hand held tightly, but he still takes a minute to tilt his chin upwards and inhale the tropical scent of Orlando. He’s spent a lot of time in the southern states of the east coast, but he’s thankful to be in company this trip. The black adidas bag on his shoulder is heavy, but valuable. He can feel the sharp plastic of a crown poking his back through the padding; one of many she insisted on bringing, and his smile widens.
Traveling with a toddler is difficult, and Tom much rather prefers the time of his parental experience where Posie wasn’t mobile. She’s all over the place now, wanting to see and understand the inner workings of everything mechanical. He’s sure he’s answered the question of how a plane flies six times within the last few hours, but he enjoys it. He enjoys everything about fatherhood; even single fatherhood.
Posie’s been buzzing about this trip for weeks, ever since Tom told her they’d get to meet all of her favorite princesses during the week. He’s seen every movie thrice over, confidently quoting The Princess and The Frog in his sleep he’s sure. It was the requested theme of her third birthday party, and he has his suspicions that her fourth will be all the same in a couple of months.
“Hold my hand please, darling.” He insists when she pulls away, not wanting to lose his tiny companion in Terminal C of Orlando International. She’s always been a bit of a wanderer, but her curiosity’s grown since landing in Orlando and spotting a plethora of poorly hidden Mickeys. “Thank you.”
His teams arranged for a driver to escort them to the resort, n0t wanting to risk public transportation. Somehow he’s managed to go unrecognized, but he doesn’t want to leave anything to chance. Posie’s swinging his hand now, her small fingers twisted into his. The feel of her is soft, dainty, innocent even. It’s everything Tom misses when he lays her to bed at night and goes about the rest of his evening without her company. She’s his best mate, and has been since the day she was born.
The black SUV Tom’s put in order pulls around into the terminal, a driver dressed in a black and white suit coming to help load the bags into the boot of the car. Tom’s made a plethora of big moves this trip, like traveling without personal security, and not bringing a car seat for Posie. He’s almost regretting it now, but it wasn’t worth the bulk and invasion. He likes this quality time, something he doesn’t get much of with the amount of active projects he’s signed onto.
“We’re gonna go see the castle, right, Daddy?” Her small sentences are full of glee, and she’s bouncing excitedly on the tips of her toes. Tom scoops her up onto his hip, handing off the black Adidas bag when the driver, a middle aged man named Phil, asks if he wants it in the back as well.
“Thank you,” He nods towards Phil, the asian-american nodding as gleefully as he could show behind the thick black mask. “Yeah, we’re gonna see the castle, and all the princesses. What are you gonna sing when you see Rapunzel?” Tom asks.
Posie doesn’t have to think for a single minute, smiling as she begins the motions of delicately brushing another's hair. “Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine, make the clocks reverse, Daddy, you sing the rest.” Her young voice is innocent as she struggles over syllables, maiming almost every other word in the song, but Tom understands it, and his heart swells with adoration.
“Bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt, change the fates design. Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine. Go ‘head, finish it, love,” Tom encourages, laughing at the shy blush that spreads across Posie’s neck. She presses her cheek into his arm, grabbing his fingers in her tiny fist with uncertainty. “We’ll do it together, yeah? Ready?” He waits for her to nod before they both softly finish the rhyme Mother Gothel makes Rapunzel sing nightly, “What once was mine.”
“Good job, Daddy.” Posie encourages, laughing when the button of her nose is pressed and Tom smooths his hand over her head. She’s got flyaways going in every direction, the once cute ponytail he assembled at the crown of her head having slipped down towards her neck with all of her excited activities. She looks a mess, but the sight makes his heart grow fonder.
“Who’s your favorite?” The driver asks, his friendly question opening the shy toddler up. Her lips split, and her looks between Tom and Phil to make sure it’s okay before continuing.
Her voice comes out like a soft symphony, and shyly her English accent carries through the car. “Tiana.”
“I quite like Mulan.” Tom exclaims, poking his finger into Posie’s side. She squirms away from his touch, a laugh pouring from her belly as she throws her head backwards. “Reckon I could be Mushu, what do you think, mate?” Tom asks Phil, the man under question shaking his head with a laugh. His grin is wide beneath his mask, having been ages since he’s heard a child laugh so wholeheartedly.
“I think Mushu fits perfectly, sir.”
-
Posie’s pressed into Tom’s side, sound asleep for the second time with the hem of his Star Wars shirt in her fist. Tom’s watching her blissfully, occasionally looking down at his phone to straighten out the last of their reservations, but for the most part, he’s devoted to her simple innocence. He had watched her sleep on the plane too, not remembering the last time he had the time to just sit beside her and admire what she’s becoming.
“I miss that age.” Phil speaks softly. He’s kept quiet for a while, letting Tom just absorb the sweet cuddles he’s being offered, but he couldn’t let the father slip by without sympathizing about just how fast they grow up. “I have two at home.”
“Goes by in a blink, doesn’t it, mate.” Tom smooths his hand over Posie’s head once more, breathing in deeply to settle the emotions brawling in his heart.
-
Tom’s holding her on his hip again, coaxing sleep out of her eyes with the pad of his abused thumb. His fingers and palms are rough from years of stunt work with Sony and Marvel, but he still finds a way to make his touches gentle and sweet for her. His precautions surfaced from the first time he held her, just minutes after her delivery, and his pinky scratched the pink of her gentle cheek. He never wanted to feel that bottomless guilt and sorrow again.
Posie’s fighting his gentle approach though, emitting soft whines from around her thumb as she poutily shoves her face into the crook of his neck. She’s been asleep for nearly an hour, which is longer than she naps at home, but Tom knows all too well how draining travel can be. They've only just been escorted into their hotel suite, and Tom wishes he had the patience to let her sleep until her sweet little heart's content, but he’s just about buzzing to get everything settled and begin the true festivities of their short trip. A week is not nearly enough time at the happiest place on earth.
“Come on, darling.” He coos, bringing a hand down the small of her back and patting her bum. She’s as much of an easy riser as Paddy is, though where Paddy’s irritable, Posie’s cuddly. “Don’t you want to go see the pretty castle, love?”
Posie lifted her head from Tom’s shoulder, petting the bridge of his nose sleepily. “Wanna go.” She mumbles, “Put my Tiana dress on.”
Tom laughs, lowering her onto the hotel bed. She’s heavy in his embrace still, still mesmerized by sleep, but her eyes are open and buzzing with excitement. She traces the bag of costumes laying by the door, and her little fingers jet out in persistence. He detaches her arms from around his neck, kissing her little knuckles sweetly, before asking her to sit down so she doesn’t fall. She’s not the most coordinated little, and he’s not willing to risk the chance of her getting hurt.
“Which one do you want, Posie? Yellow or Green?” Tom asks, turning around to look at his daughter. She’s on her feet again, reaching high above the headboard. Her fingers are just barely able to brush across the portrait of the Pixar characters, but she’s absolutely bustling with glee. “On your bottom, please.” Tom advises. He pulls the yellow dress from the bag, deciding against the green dress for the first night.
Posie owns every princess dress ever, and in multiple variations. There’s about four Cinderella dresses shoved into the adidas backpack, Tom’s just barely managed to convince her to pack half of the collection, though he knows they’ll leave with at least another three in his suitcase when she lays her eyes on the gift shops collection, not to mention after the trip to bippity boppity boutique; which he’s already made a reservation for. He’s excited for the struggle though, because he knows it will have meant that Posie had fun.
She mindlessly lifted her arms up when Tom came back over towards the bed, and he happily pulled her shirt from her body. At the moment, he couldn’t care for keeping the suite in a tidy order, flicking the shirt across the room, which prompted giggles from Posie who watched wide eyed excitement. “Reckon we can make it a bit messy, huh?” Tom teased, poking at the flesh of her pudgy belly. She’s losing the baby weight more and more every day, becoming almost unrecognizable in comparison to the infant decorating his home screen. It’s a bittersweet realization to have, and Tom feels as though he has the same thought every time she laughs.
“Go ahead, angel. Throw them.” He encourages after standing her up on the bed and helping her out of her cotton shorts. Posie grins mischievously, doing as she was prompted and releasing the black shorts into the air. They don’t make it any farther then Tom’s shadow, but her head is still thrown back in exquisite belly laughs.
Tom grins, holding the dress over her head and sliding her arms through the small cuffs carefully. She’s always hated being dressed, whether it was the actual act of putting clothes on, or continuing to wear them. She’s his little wild card, but he can’t help but melt at the sight of her in Tiana’s working uniform.
“You look so pretty, my baby.” He coos, laying her down on the bed and kissing all over her face. Posie’s squeals and giggles are blissful, her small little fingers trying to push Tom’s scruffy chin away from her cheeks and necks.
In retaliation, she digs her fingers into his sides, trying to mess with him in the same way he’s instigating her. Tom’s grin in splitting, mocking surprise as he pulls away from Posie quickly to glimmer with enjoyment and love.
“Are you tickling me, Posie Grace?” Tom retorts, hands planted on the dips of his hips. Posie grinned, standing from the bed and leaping into her father's embrace with gleeful vigor and giggles. Tom’s never heard Posie laugh so much in her entire life.
He’s damn near certain that his cheeks are going to hurt after their week long escapade, but he’s looking forward to the dull ache in his jaw. It’s been awhile since things have been so easy, and he knows that it won't last even a day past november second, but he’s cherishing it while he has it. He doesn’t ever want to worry about Posie being taken away, but with a growing argument from his daughter's maternal side, he’s not so sure his multiple day work week and constant travel looks appealing in court.
“Ready, Princess Posie?” Tom asks, shifting Posie higher on his hip as he advanced towards the suites door. She nodded happily, fisting the neckline of his shirt between clammy fingers. She always did get clammy when she was feeling too much of something, a dead giveaway to Tom and anyone else that knew Posie Holland. “It’s gonna be so fun, right?” He pries gently, hoping to settle some of the overwhelming excitement and uncertainty she’s feeling.
“Yeah!” She babbles shyly, watching her father grab two face masks and slip the smaller one around her ears and over her nose. She wiggles her lips for a minute before accepting the fate of the feeling.
“We’ve gotta keep this on, remember?” He preaches, kissing Posie’s temple when she nods in confirmation. The entire situation isn’t ideal; Tom never thought he’d be taking Posie to Disneyworld for Halloween in the middle of a global pandemic, but he’s made sure to adhere to all the precautions and plan as strategically as he’s able. He wants to have fun, but he needs her to be kept safe and healthy. “Let’s roll, princess.”
-
“Mickey’s over your nose, please.” Tom speaks softly. Posie’s been chattering up a storm about their recent trip around the Dumbo ride, and in her excitement the mask had slipped down. She giggles, clumsily pulling it back up and flashing a wide grin at her father. “Cheeky.” He muses, leaning up against the railing to his left and looking down at the little girl who's all his own. Her face is flush, a blush rising up her neck and around her ears from the heat, and flyaways from her ponytail have begun to frame her face. “Who are we going to see first, hum? How about Ariel, I quite like her.”
Posie leans into Tom’s legs, wrapping her arms around him tightly. She’s completely overjoyed, but she’s shied away from multiple attractions, and he thinks the décor might be a little more intimidating then she’s letting on.
“I wanna see Anna!” She beams, and Tom laughs, although not surprised. Her list of favorite princesses is endless, and every minute somebody else gets added higher onto the list. “No! I wanna see Rapunzel, can we see Rapunzel?”
Tom’s thankful she changed her mind before he had to explain that Anna was located in an entirely different park, and that they definitely wouldn’t make it there by the end of the day. Posie grinned when the group of three ahead of them was escorted into the building, making her and Tom the head of the queue.
“Do you think Tiana’s gonna like my dress?” Posie grinned shyly, fingering the yellow material covering her little legs.
Tom nods in confirmation, giving her a look once over just to boost her confidence. “I think she’s going to love it, mate.” He smiles when Posie gets flushed, digging the button of her slim shaped nose into the denim of his jeans. “Do you think Cinderella will like my crown?”
Posie pulled away enough to check the silver crown on top of her father's head, she pulled her hand up to her already covered mouth, and threw her head back in blissful laughter. She’d found it incredibly hilarious when Tom bought them matching crowns to begin with, she hadn’t even realized he had stuck the silver accessory through messy strands of hair on his head.
Neither Posie or Tom has time to address the crown, because a Disney employee is smiling kindly at them, and asking them to follow the arrows into the princess greeting space. That brings another level of timidness onto Posie, as she clings to her father's hand and makes sure she walks behind his every step. She’s testing the waters.
“Look at that, mate.” Tom points out Rapunzel in the line of princesses. She’s first followed by Cinderella, Tiana, and Belle, all smiling easily. Tom’s sure Posie’s eyes couldn’t have grown any wider at the sight and she completely freezes up, raising her arms and pinching her fingers to her palms with a pale flush. The redness that had once been spreading over her body completely replaced by nervousness.
Tom lifts her onto his hip, a hand cradling the back of her head when she digs her face into his shoulder. Her fingers twist into the hair on the nape of his neck, while she looks Rapunzel over with uncertainty. She’s never been a fan of character costumes, Tom found that out at the Spiderman; Far From Home premier, but he hadn’t expected that shyness to carry over into princess costumes, especially considering she all but lives in her own selection.
“Hello, Princess.” Rapunzel sings sweetly, her golden locks of hair twisting down her back as she flutters her fingers in Posie’s direction. The purple lace mask she’s wearing is similar to the pattern on the chest of her corset, just like every princess down the lines whose face mask matches their iconic costume.
The interaction is the same down the line. Posie clings to Tom looking mortified as they pose for pictures at a safe distance, and make brief one-sided conversation, then move on to the next princess waiting. They’re at the end of the line now, and Tom’s growing a bit tired of making conversation with the princesses. They’ve all been incredibly sweet, but he’s not interested in the circular pattern Cinderella uses to mop the floors of her step-mothers house.
“Well, hello there, Princess! What’s your name?” Belle chirped, hands clasping the yellow silk of her heavy ball gown.
Tom’s about to answer for himself and Posie again, but Posie’s shy wave distracts him. He can feel her skin getting warmer beneath his hands, but that doesn’t silence her this time. A shy frown pulls at her lips, but she looks Belle over with something similar to...trust?
“Posie.” She whispers, before a shy smile breaks her lips and for the first time since entering the entertainment hall she looks comfortable.
“That’s a pretty name Princess Posie! What’s your Prince’s name?” Belle asked, flowery hand movements getting a giggle from Posie’s chest. Tom can see the actor's heart nearly melt behind her eyes at the sound, and he chuckles to himself while Posie answers.
“He’s Spiderman, not a Prince, silly.” Posie whispers, knowing she isn’t meant to be blabbering about Tom’s profession while they’re away on vacation. It’s quiet enough that the other three princesses, who are still heavily in character, don’t hear, but he still looks Belle over with worry that she’ll leak the news to the media.
He’s made sure to dress down, avoid anything too revealing, and ditch certain aspects of his outfit that are an official identity giveaway to his following. His rolex is sitting in a safe back at the hotel room, his mask is black with a simple mickey design, and he’s instead of his preferred pair of grey sweats, or blue jeans, he’s in black Adidas joggers that he borrowed from Harrison.
“Superhero, huh?” Belle muses softly, “Well, we better keep it a secret then. We can’t have everyone knowing, right Princess?”
Posie lifts her head from Tom’s shoulder, smiling widely at the actor. Tom listens constantly as they talk for a few minutes, Posie grows more and more animated with every half sentence ‘Belle’ speaks and it brings back the wave of guilt he’s been surfing for weeks. His specific profession as portraying the live action version of Spiderman could have ruined all of this magic for Posie, it still has the possibility of ruining it for her when she gets to understand what an actor really is. She can only grasp that Daddy plays dress up when he goes to work, but when she realizes that Daddy is Spiderman, and without him there is no Peter Parker in Paris, he’s heartbroken thinking of everything else that ruins. Santa Claus, Disney World, cartoons. He only hopes he has a few more years of this easily achieved joy, before he single handedly ruins the magic.
“Alright, it’s time to go, Princess Posie.” Tom snaps from his trance after they pose for another socially distanced picture, He’s not sure how ten minutes escaped him so quickly, but in the time that he’s been dreading Posie growing up, she’s found a life long friend in the professional princess actor.
Belle sings her goodbye to Posie, but when he eyes catches Tom’s she nods, a silent promise that his secret is safe with her.
Posie’s warmed up to the characters a bit more since their first night at the Parks. She’s not overly excited about meeting them personally, but in close passing she’s bright with awe. The parks had secretly scheduled parades throughout the day, a method of trying to prevent large crowds from forming, but Tom was lucky enough to be in the know of them the floats would pass down main street. He had taken Posie to a few of them, and each time she warmed further to the idea of the Princesses and Princes...she still wasn’t exactly fond of the full body costumes though.
Tom laughed gently as she plowed into his legs. It was their last full day in the most magical place on earth, and Tom had pulled out all the stops. He had scheduled another reservation at the salon inside the castle after hearing all about it until Posie fell asleep on his chest, a smile and glitter painting her face, and had booked them a reservation at the infamous character dinner.
At the bippity boppity boutique, he wasn’t surprised that she had requested Belle again, and had gleamed with the same excitement despite the repetition. He was just happy he somehow convinced her to choose a different dress, instead of the same heavy and yellow one. She was spinning around his legs, absolutely bursting with joy. Her hair was tied into a half up half down style, and the bun on the crown of her head was framed by a small silver crown and a dusting of glitter. As the lighting in the waiting area dims, signaling the arrival of Prince Charming who is set to open the doors at six o’clock sharp, Tom catches a sparkle of blue shadow across her eyelids. He doesn’t know where his baby went, but somehow she’s gone.
Posie’s clinging to her Belle themed pumpkin basket and wand, clicking together the heels of her clear blue heels. There’s a picture of Belle on the front of them, similar to the seven pairs she has at home for every other princess and fairy. Tom’s shocked she hasn’t branched into the Prince outfits yet, though he much rather prefers the days when he comes home from set, and her little body is dressed in his button downs and blazers, absolutely knocked out in the center of his bed like a starfish.
“I’m gonna get sweets for Hazza!” Posie grins, fiddling with the plastic handle of the bucket. “And some for Paddy and Harry, but Sammy ate mine last time, so he doesn’t get any. Right, Daddy? Sammy’s gotta get his own.”
“I think that sounds like a wonderful idea, love.” Tom laughs softly, remembering the day his brother had been caught eating the halloween candy Posie worked tirelessly to collect. “Bet they’re gonna love it.”
Posie goes on about the candy she wants to get each of the boys as Tom watches for the start of the small ceremony. The dinners are a small gathering, safe with covid regulations, and he can’t help but feel thankful that it’s a smaller audience. He knows it’s almost impossible to go unnoticed now, but he’s reserved a corner space to hopefully stay unnoticed.
“Whose that, Pose?” Tom grins, pointing out Prince Charming as he rounds the corner. He’s got his arms folded behind his back, white suit with gold embellishments sparkling in the lights of the dinning hall lobby.
“He looks like Haz!” She giggles, and Tom can’t deny that the actor does resemble his best friend a bit eerily. His eyes are a piercing blue, hair the same dirty shade, the only difference Tom can spot is the slim of his nose which is wider than Harrisons.
“Do you reckon Haz should be a prince with you, love?” Tom asks, knowing that if he puts an idea into Posie’s head, Harrison has no chance of saying no. His best friends the worst with following Posie’s every desire.
“He can be the Beast! I wanna be Belle.” Posie beams at the idea, “He can borrow my teddy, but he has to give it back.”
“Why don’t we get him his own, yeah? I think he’d like his own teddy.”
“And we can get Tessa a teddy, right? She likes watching Rapunzel with me! Can we get her a Pascal?”
“Absolutely.” Tom agrees, just as Prince Charming cuts the red ribbon tying the dining hall doors together. The pair of them are ushered into the space a few seconds afterwards, and shown to their secluded table in the corner beside a bouquet of yellow roses.
Tom helps Posie into her seat beside his, eyes filling with tears for a reason he can’t name. It’s the same empty feeling in his stomach that he’s experienced since landing in Florida. It’s his baby girl growing up and not needing him for every small thing anymore. It’s her little personality and sweet soul, her gentle honey eyes and adoration for cuddles and family. He couldn’t be prouder of the little lady he’s raising, but he can’t help but wonder if he’s doing it right.
He pulls out his phone, taking what has to be the millionth picture this week. Posie grins, her eyes showing specs of gold from the invasion of the flash. The blue dress on her body brings out the tan complexion of her skin, and Tom can’t help but think of how angelic her little life is.
“I wanna take your picture!” She grins, reaching for his phone. Tom hands it over, pulling a large smile even though the expression is still hidden behind his mask. His eyes squint from the sheer tension of his tightly pulled lips, and Posie’s giggling so much her hands are shaking and the picture comes out blurry, but Tom loves it anyways.
“Awesome job, peanut.” He smooths a hand over her head when she hands his phone back, tired eyes blinking at him despite the expression of excitement she’s still wearing. She’s been on a sugar high since takeoff back home, and Tom’s anticipating the crash once they get back home to their own beds and routine.
After Tom orders their meals and drinks, the gentle halloween music kicks up slightly and the princesses and characters start to make their way around the venue. Posie tenses when she sees Mickey Mouse walk down the stairs, his halloween outfit adding to her uncertainty. Tom laughs gently at her reaction, taking her mask off of the table and pocketing it so it doesn’t fall or get misplaced.
Mickey isn’t the first character to come over, it’s Tinkerbell, and after she drops some candy into Posie’s bucket, she makes flowery conversation before moving along to another table of children. Posie’s starting to enjoy herself by the time their food is served, forking a pile of cheesy noodles into her mouth between smiles and laughs. They’ve been visited by Jasmine, Elsa, and Prince Charming since Tinkerbell’s stop, but she’s ranting about wanting to see Belle. The candy bucket is nearly halfway full, and Tom knows there's going to be a fight about how much she’s allowed to eat before bed tonight. He’s prepared to lose and let her have it all, but he figures the responsible thing to do is break it up and make it last.
Posie’s deep into a chocolate sunday by time Belle comes into view, and Tom’s quick to grab his camera when he sees the yellow dress get closer and closer. Posie’s face is smeared in chocolate ice cream and whipped cream, which is what Tom expected when he ordered her the treat in the first place. He’s not sure what it is about little ones and frozen treats, but even an ice lolly has her skin stained for hours.
Her eyes grow wide when she realizes Belle’s standing at the foot of their table, hands gently clasped around the handle of an identical sweets basket.
“Princess Posie!” Belle grins in delight, letting a few extra pieces of chocolate fall into Posie’s bin. She sends a wink towards the little girl, and Posie breaks into a sweet giggle. Tom watches the actor have the same look of adoration in her eyes at the sound, and he can’t help but notice the subtle tint of yellow around her pupils.
A conversation about dresses and matching baskets breaks out, and Tom’s sure that Belle has overstayed her assigned time per table, but he doesn’t say anything. He quite likes hearing her and Posie chat about make believe and magic.
When the actor finally does decide it’s best if she carries on, Tom makes sure to motion her closer. “What’s your name?” He has all intention of putting in a word with Disney management about how excellent she is, but selfishly he wants to test it on the tip of his tongue.
“Y/N.”
The air is cold and bitter. Posie’s passed out on Tom’s shoulder, little arms wrapped around his neck and legs hanging limply at his sides. He’s waiting for Harry to pick the both of them up, wanting to get home and fall into his own bed with Tessa and Posie.
His baby girl’s only just fallen asleep, her eyes rimmed red from crying throughout the entirety of the flight. She’s coming down with a fever from all the travel, and he’s sure the upset of leaving the warmth and magic of the parks has something to do with it.
She’s still wearing her yellow Belle dress, though her little feet are bare and cold because the princess shoes she insisted on wearing kept slipping off of her toes as Tom carried her through baggage claim. It’s the same as how this entire trip started. He can feel crowns, wands, and plastic shoes poking him through his backpack, and he’s surrounded by luggage and gift bags that giveaway where they had spent Halloween week.
When Harrison pulls the car around, Tom is thankful that the seat warmers and heat are already on, and Posie’s car seat is buckled into place. Harrison shivers when he steps into the brutal cold to help Tom put all the bags into the backseat and trunk, cooing at the sight of Posie. She’s sunkissed, freckles dusting her cheeks and a flush running up her neck and ears.
“How was it, mate?”
Tom grins, thinking back to the sweet girl whose name sounds heavenly on the tip of his tongue. As he buckles Posie into her carseat, gently shushing her whimpers when he gets her arms through the chest straps, he tugs off his sweatshirt and puts it over her body like a blanket, before he turns his head to look Harrison over.
“Magical.”

We've been friends many years but I've never thought to ask; Top 10 gay OTPs?
1.) Ian & Mickey (Gallavich) - Shameless us
Tumblr media
What can I say about these two that we haven’t already said about them?! They are my absolute all-time favorite couple ever! Gay or straight. They perfectly complement each other, they love each other on a level I feel like I’ve never seen before (and I have watched a lot of tv/movies), they’re like a comedy duo, they support each other, understand each other better than anyone else ever will, they fell in love as kids, they bring out the best in each other, and they’re each other's best friend. I’m a sucker for opposites attract, who are also best friends. Gallavich really fits that bill. I wish they didn’t have to struggle so much to get their happiness, but I’m happy they finally got it. When they got married, it felt like the biggest victory ever! We went through those years of struggle with them, rooted for them, mourned for them when John Wells let Noel go after season 5. So much has tried to keep these two apart, even real-life circumstances tried to keep them apart. The chemistry between these two characters and between Cameron and Noel was so powerful, they were brought back to the show. That kind of thing doesn’t happen very often. When an actor leaves a show, they don’t usually come back as a series regular, let alone two actors who have already left the show. It felt like a miracle! I will never forget getting the news that Noel was coming back from you @luckyshazmrsmonaghansblog I was crying with happiness bc we wanted this for so long and I never believed we would get to see both Cameron and Noel back on the show. Or that they would get their happy ending outside of a jail cell. Especially after Cameron left the show in season 9. With their return we got a wedding, an entire season of them as a married couple, we got to see them dance with each other twice, we got them singing together, we got to see them start a lucrative business together, we got to see them free and happier than we’ve ever seen them before, and we got to see Terry get what he deserved after putting them through hell. We are only halfway through season 11, but I already feel so fulfilled with this extra time with gallavich that we were never supposed to have. JW tried to take that away from us. I will never understand why, but he failed. I am not surprised this is the one I wrote the most about. I can go on and on about gallavich!
2.) David and Patrick - Schitt’s Creek
Tumblr media
This was everything I ever wanted to see onscreen, where there was zero homophobia. The pansexual character didn’t need to have a big coming out or tell everyone in the town of his sexual orientation, except his best friend. The gay character had a coming out with parents who loved and accepted him for who he is and was only upset that he felt he couldn’t tell them sooner. I dreamt of a day where I could see this kind of representation onscreen. The casual treatment of their sexuality was so refreshing and something I’ve been waiting for. There is no darkness or huge struggle they had to overcome to be together or a sad ending for them. They were allowed to be together without the major conflicts most LGBTQ characters have to go through. Once David made the first move Patrick was comfortable allowing himself to fall for David and start a relationship with him. He was so sure of his feelings for David after that first kiss, he never looked back and I loved that. They had such an adorable love story. Truly one I have been waiting to see for so long between two LGBTQ characters. They made me smile every time they were on screen. They are another of my OTPs that are exact opposites who complement each other perfectly. Patrick was welcomed into David’s family and blended in with them so well, even when he and David had very different upbringings. Patrick serenading David with Tina Turner and then Mariah Carey at their wedding is one of the most romantic things I have ever seen!
3.) Holt and Kevin - Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Tumblr media
Captain Holt and Kevin are strange men on their own but together they are the perfect pair. They get each other in a way no one else does. The best part is their adorable fur baby, Cheddar! They seriously make the cutest family! I was so nervous when they went through a rough patch for a while because I didn’t want them to split up. Thankfully, they made it through and are still going strong!
4.) Will and Vince - Will & Grace
Tumblr media
On the show's first run, Will and Vince were in a serious relationship and Vince was Will’s longest relationship on the show. They broke up a few times but were together by the series finale. The two reunite during the funeral of Will's father. There was a time jump on the series finale. Though I didn’t love everything about the last episode, I did love the fact that Will and Vince had been together for 20 years and raised a son together, who was conceived through in vitro fertilization with a surrogate. After the time jump, nearly twenty years later, their son goes to college and meets Grace's daughter, whom he would eventually marry. Though I wasn’t happy with the fact that Will and Grace didn’t stay close over the years, it did allow for their kids to one day meet, fall in love, and get married. I did like that outcome out of the finale. My family and I used to watch the original show, but we refused to accept or watch the 2017 revival because they completely changed everything from the original series finale. The second I found out they were changing everything; I knew I couldn’t watch it. They even wiped the existence of their kids from the first series finale. The revival was an attempt to cash in on the reboot craze and I wasn’t happy about that already, but even more so when they were going to break up one of my OTPs for easy money. Bobby Cannavale, who played Vince, has become even more famous since starring in Will & Grace. So, I already figured he wouldn’t be back for the show as a regular, but I know he did guest star. I won’t accept the revival and to me, Will and Vince stayed together, and their son married Grace’s daughter. THE END!
5.) Albert and Armand - The Birdcage
Tumblr media
Miss Albert and Armand were the earliest gay couple I remember ever watching onscreen when I was eight years old. I have watched this movie more than I can count over the years. It is a family favorite that we quote often. Their son is planning to marry a girl whose father is in politics and is very conservative. They have to hide the fact that he has two gay fathers for one night, but everything goes awry, and comedy ensues. Nathan Lane and Robin Williams give a wonderful performance without resorting to using the stereotypes that are often used on gay characters, especially back then. It’s a classic!
6.) Stefon and Seth - Saturday Night Live
Tumblr media
Okay, hear me out on this one! They’re not the most conventional OTPs on my list, but I really do love them so much! Stefon started doing a correspondent segment on Weekend Update on SNL. The first time Stefon came on, he flirted with Seth Meyers. The second he did I was like ooh they would make a cute couple! Stefon the wild party guy and Seth the serious news anchor. It was a match made in heaven for me. Before Seth Meyers left SNL to do Late Night with Seth Meyers, Bill Hader came back to play Stefon for Seth’s last episode. I didn’t expect what happened next to happen at all! They gave Seth and Stefon the ending that I haven’t even gotten from some actual scripted shows. I never expected Stefon and Seth to have this big ending, but I could not be happier that they did. I’m posting the link to the six-minute skit/ending and I hope it works. It’s worth watching. Though the video says it’s Stefon’s farewell it was really Seth’s farewell episode.

7.) Mr. Simmons and Peter - Hey Arnold!
Tumblr media
Anyone who grew up watching this show already knew that Mr. Simmons, Arnold’s teacher, was probably gay. It was hinted at in the Thanksgiving episode. Arnold and Helga visit Mr. Simmons on Thanksgiving at his house and his family and “friend” Peter are there. Mr. Simmons mother says she didn’t know Peter was coming to dinner and Peter responds with the infamous line “There’s a lot of things you don’t know.” When Mr. Simmons mom tries to get him to take a woman friend to the ballet, he says he loves the ballet and Peter gives him a disapproving look and Mr. Simmons immediately declines. Those were enough hints for us fans to decide Peter was his boyfriend. Years later, the show's creator Craig Bartlett finally confirmed Mr. Simmons is gay and had them together in the 2017 Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie. It was so exciting to finally get the confirmation years later, even though I was already certain of it for many years. I was happy that the cartoon no longer had to settle with vague hints about it.
8.) Callie and Arizona - Grey’s Anatomy
Tumblr media
I was very happy to see a lesbian couple on prime time tv and I really liked both characters. I was excited to root for them but sadly as most couples on this show, their relationship took a turn, and I wasn’t thrilled about it. I was disappointed that it came to an end. By then I was already getting tired of watching the show. It was starting to feel like a chore to watch it every week. I tried to stick it out because I don’t like to give up on shows in the middle of it, but I just couldn’t do it anymore. I’m glad I did though because the shocking events with Derek Shepard, is something I’m glad I wasn’t around for. Anyway, I heard things between Callie and Arizona got even worse, so I was even happier I left when I did.
9.) Sherwin and Jonathan - In a Heartbeat
Tumblr media
This was one of the cutest things I have ever seen! I wish this got the full-length movie treatment instead of a short film. But it was still a step in the right direction for the LGBTQ community. Gay characters in cartoons always bring me such joy and that was the focus of this short. A boy with a crush on another boy with a cute ending. What is not to love?!
10.) Mitch and Cam - Modern Family
Tumblr media
Another show I had to give up on in the middle of the series. The show began to be less funny and more annoying to me. Another reason, that really has nothing to do with the show itself, that used to annoy me was that this show repeatedly beat out Parks and Recreation during award season. Parks and Recreation is a superior show when compared to Modern Family. This show won almost every year for years and it got really annoying especially when the quality of the show started slipping and they kept winning. After a few years, they finally stopped winning all the time. But before all that, I was a fan of Cam and Mitch. They were a great couple who I loved watching on the show. They were the best part of the show most of the time. But sadly, my annoyance of the show no longer being as funny as it used to be, was enough for me to stop watching.

Random question, but do you have any thoughts about Mickey and his relationship with anger? I think people who are perhaps more casual fans of the show (or just not big fans of his) think that Mickey's major character trait is anger, because he gets annoyed easily and doesn't suffer fools gladly (and obviously scenes like chair debacles 1 and 2), but I don't think it's that simple. Responding to anger in unhealthy or violent ways is sort of a running theme through this show and something I've been thinking about in regard to a lot of the characters lately, not just Mickey (though he does fit the theme). Was interested in seeing if you had any thoughts 😊 Do you think Mickey is the most angry/most violent character?
That’s a very interesting question, nonnie, and not one I'd really considered before. I'll preface this by saying that to make a proper and grounded comparision, I'd need to watch the whole series again and consider all the instances of anger and violence displayed by all the characters, and since that's not going to happen right now this will be a few random notes on the topic rather than a thorough analysis, and I'll focus primarily on Mickey himself rather than Mickey in comparision to others. Okay?
Okay. Now, as far as anger goes, I'd argue that Mickey's relationship with it is the same as his relationship to most other emotions, i.e. he doesn't usually bother to quell or hide it. I don't think this is so much a result of him struggling with affect regulation (though there's probably some of that too, with him as with almost all the other characters) as it is of him just not giving a damn about what other people think. So what if it's not socially acceptable to curse people out or kick down a sign if you get a little pissed? Mickey doesn't give a fuck; if he feels something, he's going to express that, and if you've got a problem with it, that's your damned problem.
That said, there are certainly emotions that Mickey sometimes hides and struggles to express, especially in the past; vulnerability and tenderness comes to mind. (The one emotion Mickey regularly feigns is indifference, primarily pretending not to care about Ian or what Ian does when we know that he actually cares quite a lot.) As much as Mickey is naturally emotional and expressive, he is still shaped by his enviroment, and growing up the way he did anger would have been a safe emotion for him to show. While stoicism is a stereotypical ideal for men, anger is still considered pretty manly and potent; a sign of strenght rather than weakness. I can see him leaning into that, and into other acceptable emotions, a little extra because he is an expressive person, and this allows him an outlet. At this point, I think that's become less of an issue but remains a habit–and now that Mickey doesn't worry about people finding out that he's gay, he's even less concerned than every about what people outside of his circle might think of him.
So, I wouldn't say that Mickey is angriest character, but I would say that he might be the one least prone to suppressing anger or putting up a level front just to please others or be polite. In season 11, which is the first time we've seen a Mickey that, arguably for the first time, feels comfortable and free and safe, he is remarkably happy–and he doesn't bother to hide that either, not even when his glee might seem inappropriate.
Turning to violence–and I do seperate the two, because while violence can often serve as an expression of anger, it can also serve many different purposes, and so you can't necessarily equal most angry with most violent–you are quite right to note that responding with violence to anger is something we see with many of the characters. As just mentioned, violence can serve many purposes but for most of the people on the show, I'd argue it's a way of communicating emotions (primarily anger) when other means of expression are deemed insufficient or too hard. They get angry or hurt; they lash out and punch someone or trash a car–given how often this happens and with as many of our mains as it does, I think it's fair to say that violence is highly normalized in the cultural sphere the characters inhabit. More so with the Milkoviches than Gallaghers, though, and I think it's interesting to note that while the Gallaghers mostly fall back on violence as a response to extreme emotions (which is learned behavior; seeing violence as a possible option when very upset is not given), the Milkoviches tend to do that and be very comfortable with using violence instrumentally, to defend their status and achieve their goals.
Over the course of the show, we see Mickey hit people (well, mostly Ian) when he's overwhelmed with hurt–rather than anger–but also to enforce the rules of his business (going after Mr. Patel), to defend himself or others against physical attack (going after his dad and the army police), to get his way (slamming the head of that bartender into the bar in his quest for Ian), to position himself and defend his position as a criminal badass that you shouldn't cross (beating up Lip in Ian's stead in season 1, wanting to go after Kev after being robbed by him, wanting to get up in Jesús' face in 7x11; sure, there's anger in these instances too, but I'd argue that anger is not the only or primary motivator), and because he's getting paid to (going after cousin Patrick).
Actually, though there are instances of Mickey reacting with violence to anger, that doesn't happen nearly as often as him reacting with violence to hurt or him using it instrumentally. Possibly because Mickey is actually quite good at expressing his anger in other ways; he doesn't often need to resort to violence for that? At least not violence against other people; chairs, signs, and Amazon boxes are all fair game, though. (But in all those instances, I'd argue that the anger is secondary to frustration and, again, hurt/insecurity.)
To summarize, I don't think it's fair at all to say that Mickey is the angriest of the characters, but he is very comfortable with utilizing violence for a number of reasons, and I think that out of our mains he might well be the most violent. That said, that is by no means his defining characteristic; Mickey is hell of a lot more than a violent thug, and to be honest and as I've noted before, it's the juxtaposition of him being genuinely a pretty rough (and not always very good at all) person and him being capable of such devotion, love, caring and tenderness that makes him so compelling. Complexities, baby–we love to see them!
I did really love this ask and had a lot of fun thinking about it, but I did struggle somewhat to organize my thoughts on the topic, especially since I didn't want this to devolve into a ten page treatise on the psychology and cultural construction of anger and violence, so I do hope this made some sort of sense. As mentioned, it's not a thorough analysis but rather a collection of stray thoughts on the subject. A starting point for further discussion, perhaps, if anyone else would care to chime in?

A Little Bit Part 7
Pairing: Billie Dean Howard x female reader
A/N: This was supposed to be one-shot when I started, but here’s part 7 and we’re probably a little more than halfway to the finish line? Not quite sure, but here it is. There’s less angst in this one, but I’ll let you be the judge of that. Thank you to the lovely illuminated-blue for the beautiful gif. :)
Warnings: angst, kittens and a little bit of steaminess?
Tumblr media
Returning to work on Tuesday had been a little weird for you. Not only were you reminded that everyone you worked with probably knew that you were dating Billie Dean, but you weren’t able to shake what Billie had told you about your dad.
It was a little unsettling to think about how he hadn’t moved on yet. It was also upsetting because you wanted your dad to find peace, but knowing that you were the reason why this wasn’t happening made you feel guilty. You hadn’t gathered the courage to talk to Billie more about him despite talking to her daily, and you just couldn’t shake the anxiousness and disappointment you felt while at work.
It was Thursday morning and you’d already had to tell reception twice to just hang up on any reporters who called. It was getting to be a lot and you had no idea why people wanted to talk to you so badly. You didn’t have anything to say, and you would have thought they’d take the hint by now.
Unfortunately, this was not the case, and you had to dodge Erin’s questions while trying not to notice how she was scouring the tabloids for information about you and Billie. It was distracting to say the least, so you were grateful that your busy schedule and other worries kept you preoccupied.
After finishing your last appointment before lunch, a final puppy visit that was mostly just fawning over a cute dog, you retreat to your office for a break. You have a few records to finish that you didn’t get to this morning, but you check your phone first to see if Billie texted you back. She’d been worried this morning when Mickey had been stumbling a lot when she woke up. He’d been struggling to walk and she’d called you to ask for your opinion. Given that she had an appointment scheduled for them all tomorrow, you told her to watch him and keep you updated.
She’d sent you a video, and as you watch it you get a little more concerned. At almost 4 weeks old they were moving around more, but still not really walking. The others in Bit’s litter were more active than Mickey, which wasn’t a surprise, but it seemed like Mickey had slowed down a little which wasn’t good.
You check your schedule for this afternoon before realizing that you didn’t really have time to see him today. You’re afraid that its related to his fall but you decide that it can wait until tomorrow unless he gets worse. You put your phone down after you send the message and get to work on records while you have some time.
It’s about 15 minutes later when Billie sends you another video of Mickey that changes your mind. You make sure that someone will be available and willing to help you before you tell Billie to have Heather bring them in. May as well see them all today if Heather has to bring Mickey.
“Hey Erin, are you in the mood to see kittens?”
The brunette turns toward you, holding half of a sandwich as she shoots you a questioning look.
“What kind of kittens?”
You smile before mentioning that they are Billie’s and you watch as Erin shoves the rest of her sandwich in her mouth somehow before jumping up. She runs to get ready and you just roll your eyes before telling her that you’ll be in pharmacy. You need to attach those videos to Mickey’s record anyway.
20 minutes later you are still sitting in pharmacy approving prescription requests when Erin returns. She seems more excited than you think she’d be, but you don’t get to ask before she’s practically squealing.
“You didn’t say that it would be her today!”
You’re a little confused but it only takes the sound of a familiar voice for you to understand Erin’s excitement.
“Hi, I’m here to see Dr. Y/L/N.”
A couple of minutes later, Billie was in an exam room with you and Erin trying to wrangle all of the kittens. You were mostly focused on Mickey at least for the time being as you set him down on the table and tried to get him to walk.
“Did you work from home today?”
You ask this as you examine Mickey, so you miss Billie’s brief glance to Erin who’s getting weights on the other six cats in the room. She eventually nods before deciding to go with an easy answer.
“After how he was acting this morning, I just didn’t feel like I should leave him. I’ll pay for that tomorrow though.”
You smile sympathetically as you meet her gaze before looking back to Mickey who mewls when you press on one of his legs.
“Sorry. Not your idea of a good time?”
You don’t mean it to come off as flirting, but Billie’s look indicates that she definitely took it that way. You miss the look though since you’re busy focusing on Mickey’s little legs, but Erin notices. She’d looked up in surprise at your words and immediately turned to Billie Dean to see how she reacts. She has to tamp down the urge to smile widely at the look on the medium’s face.
You were in for it later.
Instead of saying anything like this; however, Billie just shrugs before shaking her head. You are only half listening because you’re almost certain you figured out what’s going on with Mickey.
“Not quite.”
Billie watches as you nod before frowning slightly as you scratch Mickey’s ears a little. You ask a few questions about how the kittens act at home. You wonder if they rough house at all or if Bit is rough with them. Specifically Mickey. Billie says that she hasn’t noticed any of this behavior, but that Mickey occasionally found his way at the bottom of a kitten pile.
You decide that since Mickey is back spending most of his time with his siblings that they just need to keep a closer eye on him. You mention that he may have hurt his leg a little from something that happened at home. It wasn’t serious enough for x-rays but that he should be monitored for the next few days. Additionally, you were going to send home some pain medication that he’d take for the next few days. You asked Erin to go grab it while you dewormed all of the kittens. They were still too young for vaccines, but they’d come back in a couple of weeks for those.
You were glad that Billie had gotten them all colored collars because trying to keep track of which kitten was which was a pain in the ass. The only one who could easily be identified was Mickey because he was still the smallest and he had a little kink in his tail at the end.
You broke up the little tablet of dewormer and covered it in baby food for Mickey. While Mickey ate you look to Billie again with a frown.
“I’m sorry your day has been so stressful.”
Billie just sighed before taking Mickey once he was finished with his dewormer. He seemed really hungry and you’d ask about that in a second, but for now you just took a second to admire the sight of Billie Dean holding him. You watched as Mickey tried to bite one of the rings on Billie’s finger before her voice brought your attention back to her.
“It’s alright, it’s not your fault. You’re the only thing so far that’s made it any better.”
You smile at this while reaching down for the next kitten to hide your blush. You hear the door open behind you and you know that Erin’s back with Mickey’s meds so any more flirting will have to wait until later.
“Glad to hear it.”
Once all of the kittens were dewormed and you went over how to give Mickey the medication it was just you and Billie again. Erin had reminded you that Milo still hadn’t gone out since lunch started, and luckily, she volunteered to let him out so you could keep talking to Billie.
You went over a lot of kitten things that were just around the corner, if not already happening. You mentioned how they would transition to solid food soon and how she would need to use formula for this. Most of this you wrote down so Billie could reference it later. This was a lot of information that you didn’t really expect anyone to remember.
You are distracted during your conversation about litter when you see Milo out running in the yard. He looks around before coming right up to the window. He jumps on it once before he sits and just stares at you. You are grateful that someone outside throws a tennis ball and Milo goes running off. You finish going over the important points for using litter with the kittens.
You straighten the sheets of paper you’d written on before handing them to Billie. You realize how much you’d talked and you apologize while watching Billie fold them neatly and place them in her purse.
“I’m sorry. That was a lot I just threw at you.”
Billie laughs before shaking her head. She looks to Bit who is still wandering around the room while everyone else is already back in their carrier. You go to grab her, but she hisses at you and runs away. You sigh as Billie rolls her eyes at her no-good cat.
“Don’t be. It’s going to be a huge help.”
You smile as you nod and finally manage to wrangle Bit into the carrier. You’re now on Billie’s side of the room, but you don’t hurry back as you stand up straight and take this chance to really look at Billie.
You knew by now that the woman always looked good, but there were some outfits that you liked on her more than others. Not that you didn’t appreciate them all. Today, Billie was wearing more casual clothing probably because she had just been at home, and you were finding it hard not to reach out and touch.
It was almost as if Billie had read your mind because she smiled before reaching out for you. She stopped short before she let her fingers slide along the fabric of your coat. Her smile turned into a smirk as she met your gaze with a teasing look.
“You really do look good in this.”
You breathe out a laugh before shooting back an equally teasing look. Unfortunately, you aren’t as good at this as Billie. Not that you’re surprised.
“Yeah? I almost forgot how you liked a woman in uniform.”
Billie just chuckles under her breath before she shakes her head. You’re not sure what she disagrees with, but she doesn’t make you wait long to find out.
“Not as much as I’d like to see her out of it.”
You blush so hard Billie can practically feel the heat radiating off of your cheeks. You lean back a little but don’t move too far as you laugh at your own stupidity. You run a hand through your hair before smiling back at the grinning medium.
“I walked right into that one, didn’t I?”
Billie just laughs before nodding in agreement. You definitely had. Not that she was complaining. She loved flirting with you and seeing you blush. It just made her go a little crazy seeing it without being able to respond the way she wanted to. Each time she saw your face flush, it just made her want to see what else she could do to make that happen.
Instead, since they are standing in the building that you work in, and not at either of their homes, Billie just sighs and moves away from you.
Or at least she tries to.
She drops her hands from your coat only to have you reach out for her. Your hands go to her hip and to play with her hair as you shoot her a smile.
“Just one? A quick one.”
Billie only has to smile for you to get the point, and you’re quick to kiss her. You pull her closer before groaning as the medium bites you bottom lip before soothing it with her tongue. You don’t resist as she grabs you again and backs you up into the wall. You let Billie take the lead as she slides her tongue past your lips and into your mouth. Your grip on her hip tightens and you moan as Billie’s tongue meets yours. She kisses you like you’ll be caught any minute, and you’d worry about that if you could focus on anything other than Billie Dean.
Billie Dean’s mouth against yours. Her hand fisting the fabric of your coat. The smell of her familiar intoxicating perfume.
All of this and the fact you’re still at work, technically on the clock makes the heat in the pit of your stomach flare and you kiss her harder.
You’re panting by the time Billie pulls away from you, and you don’t even have the energy to be embarrassed or annoyed by her smug smirk. Instead you just lean against the wall staring at her with wide, dazed eyes. Billie merely smooths the lapels of your coat absentmindedly as she shoots you a look that makes you want to give it all up.
You’re not exactly sure what that means, but you know in that moment that if Billie asked you to do it, you would. Without hesitation.
“Was that one?”
You don’t really register the question because your body is still trying to recover. You take a deep breath before blinking a few times to try and ground yourself. When your brain finally processes the words, it still takes your mouth a couple of seconds to form a response. You nod before attempting to stand up straight. You don’t really manage it.
“Yeah. I guess.”
Billie smiles unable to hide how her effect on you makes her feel. She’s always been the one to initiate things in her relationships because she loves to watch people squirm.  Having you respond so well to her made Billie want to do all sorts of things to you, and she would. Just not here.
She moves back toward you, reaching out, but not touching you. Instead, she plants her hands against the wall on either side of your head as she meets your slightly bewildered gaze.
“So we’re done then?”
You don’t respond immediately, but all you can think about is how you really don’t want to be done. You have maybe a half hour left of lunch before you have appointments. You couldn’t care less about that right now though and you shake your head before you’ve really thought it through.
“Maybe one more.”
Billie smirks at you. One of her hands moves to brush against your cheek and you can’t help how you lean into it slightly. She definitely notices and leans back in to kiss you again.
“Good girl.”
You feel your heart jump in your chest and your breath hitch as Billie’s words hit your ears. Your head swims and you may groan as you let Billie pull you against her. Suddenly nothing seemed to matter. Remembering to breathe wasn’t important to you in that moment. Not compared to doing exactly what Billie told you to. You felt a chill run up your spine when Billie’s hands snuck under your shirt.
You gasp into her mouth before she breaks away to kiss down your neck. You would be embarrassed by the whine that leaves you if you weren’t so turned on. You crave Billie’s touch and just knowing that it was so close, but that it wouldn’t go further while you were here was torture.
You might hear Milo bark from outside, but you aren’t sure. You don’t dare move away to check and instead you hiss under your breath as Billie’s fingernails drag across sensitive skin.
“Oh fuck.”
Suddenly Billie’s hands are gone and her lips are no longer on your neck. You almost fall you’re so unsteady as Billie moves away from you without warning. You frown until you hear a knock on the door a moment later. You don’t have time to wonder how Billie had heard them before the door’s opening.
You’re equally disappointed and relieved that Billie managed to be on the other side of the room by the time Erin stuck her head inside.
"Dr. Y/L/N. You have a phone call from the emergency hospital.”
You nod before thanking Erin and telling her you’ll be right there. You suppose it’s for the best, but you can’t help but loathe whoever it is who decided to call you right now. You sigh as you look to Billie who’s moving toward you with a smile. She reaches out to straighten your hair before biting her lip to hold back a laugh.
“Duty calls?”
You nod before looking to the carrier full of cats that you’d completely forgotten about. You take a deep breath before closing your eyes. You need to calm down and get back to work. This must be why no one has make out sessions at work. It completely ruins your concentration.
“Looks like it. You’ll let me know if you have any questions?”
Billie Dean nodded before she leaned over to grab the carrier. Bit meowed while the kittens snored away and you smiled as Billie reached for the doorknob on the other side of the room.
“Of course. Thank you for seeing us so last minute.”
You smile before holding the door open for Billie so she could use both hands to get the carrier through without hitting the door frame.
“I’ll talk to you later then.”
Billie nodded before she promised to call you tonight. You lean in quickly to plant a brief kiss on her lips before waving goodbye to the kittens.
“See you next time, kittens.”
Billie looks like she wants to say something but instead she just nods before taking a couple of steps away. She turns to leave and you do too before Billie’s voice draws your attention back to her.
“Oh and Dr. Y/L/N?”
You ignore how her saying your name like that makes you feel as you shoot her a smile. “Yes, Ms. Howard?”
She smiles widely at this but doesn’t comment as she looks around her briefly before speaking.
“Make sure to wear your hair down for the rest of the day.”
Billie only has time to see you reach for your neck before she’s heading for the front desk. She has a feeling she’ll pay for that later, but she’s hoping it will be worth it. She loves having something to look forward to.
Erin had been working as an assistant for a few years. Since graduating from undergrad and wanting to gain experience before applying to veterinary school, she’s enjoyed most every minute that she’d worked at this hospital.
She’d seen a lot of assistants come and go, some she liked, some she didn’t. The doctors were all the same since she started except for the newest addition to the team. You had joined right after the hospital had finished construction to add more exam rooms. It was one of the larger practices around and they saw close to 50,000 clients, so they were always busy. There was never a dull moment, so Erin had learned to take advantage of the scant down time that she had at work.
She had finished putting in the charges for you and now she was just waiting around in pharmacy. A couple other assistants were sitting outside for lunch and had offered to watch Milo, so Erin didn’t have anything to do. She doubted that you needed anything else, but she wanted to be around in case you did, so she sat at the computer closest to where you were still talking to Billie about the kittens.
At least that’s what she thought you were talking about.
At some point she hears something that could definitely be considered flirting and Erin blushes slightly. She hadn’t gotten confirmation from you about your relationship with Billie Dean, but no confirmation was confirmation enough honestly. She’d read a few things written by reporters who speculated wildly despite only have minimal evidence.
Erin didn’t really care either way, well that wasn’t true. She would be thrilled because she was a huge fan of Billie’s but it wouldn’t really change anything for her. She might ask for an autograph but other than that she wouldn’t do anything different. She liked working with you and even though she was pretty sure you were making out with Billie Dean Howard behind closed doors, she didn’t see this changing.
Erin was relieved when the phone rang and she hurried to answer it. She wasn’t as excited about having to interrupt whatever it was you were doing, but the emergency hospital had a question about a mutual patient. When you finally came to pick up the phone, you were a little more put together than when she’d come knocking. Erin pretended not to notice and decided to go check on Milo.
Milo’s head turned at the sound of the door opening and another person coming outside. He ran over to her, tennis ball in his mouth before sitting down with a whine. He dropped it in front of her expecting her to pick it up and throw it again. Luckily for him, Erin did and he took off across the yard for it.
Erin sighed as she sat down next to the other two assistants who weren’t her favorite. She got along with them fine, but they had different views and opinions on certain people that made being anything other than  coworkers unlikely.
“How was the famous Billie Dean?”
Erin looked back toward Milo so they wouldn’t see her roll her eyes as she shrugged. She mentioned how the appointment was pretty standard. The only thing out of the norm was Mickey being a little lame. Erin didn’t notice either of them nod or exchange a look as she threw the ball again for Milo. He took off, nearly falling in his rush to follow the ball, and Erin had to stifle a laugh as he tripped up.
“Did you get an autograph? I’m sure Dr. Y/L/N wouldn’t mind.”
At this Erin turns to the pair so they can see her glare and her huff of annoyance. They weren’t exactly subtle with their jealousy, but she didn’t want to get in the middle of that.
“No, that would have been weird.”
Neither of them gets a chance to respond to this before one of the kennel staff comes out and says that they need to walk a dog aggressive-dog. Erin takes that as her opportunity to leave, and she calls Milo over before taking him back inside. She doesn’t look back as she leads the shepherd into the building and back to his kennel. Afternoon appointments were going to start showing up any minute.
It’s almost 6:30 when Erin has to talk to either of those assistants again. She needed help getting samples on a cat at the end of the day. It’s actually past closing time, but this cat is sick and Dr. Hahn wanted bloodwork on it. It’s a very angry cat and it takes three assistants to restrain it and draw blood.
You are finished working for today and on your way downstairs when you hear the angry yowl. You decide to go around treatment to get to Milo and not get in the middle of whatever is going on.  You grab Milo and sneak out to the parking lot. It’s dark already and you sigh as you buckle Milo in the back seat and get in. You stifle a yawn as you start the drive home, but you only make it half way there before your phone dings. You ignore it for now because it’s just a text message, and you still suck at driving in LA.
You make it home and take Milo on a quick walk before heading upstairs. You drop your things by the door, not caring about the mess before you head to the kitchen for dinner. Milo’s already fed so you let him go off on his own for a while as you figure out what to eat.
You pull your phone out of your pocket before looking at the message Billie sent. Of course it was Billie. You’re smiling before you can stop yourself, and it only grows when you see it’s a picture of Mickey. His body is scrunched up and he’s got the most disgusted look on his face.
He doesn’t like his medicine.
You laugh as you respond while trying to pull things out of the fridge. You nearly drop something, but you catch it last minute before you place it all on the counter. Milo appears behind you and you nearly trip on him as you turn suddenly to grab a pan.
“Jeez, Milo watch out!”
Your dog just pants happily as he follows you around while you cook. You ignore him for the most part as he eventually sits down while you stand at the stove. You yawn again before jumping at the sound of your phone buzzing again. It nearly falls off the counter, but you grab it just in time to see another couple of messages from Billie.
How was the rest of your day?
I hope you kept your hair down
Just like that you felt your face flush. You cursed Billie’s ability to have this effect on you when she wasn’t even here as you sighed in defeat. Surprisingly you’d managed to focus for the rest of the day on work and not think about what you and Billie had done earlier today. Of course now that you were home alone you could easily feel yourself getting hot just thinking about it.
You shake your head before you drop food on the ground without realizing it. You’re glad that it’s not something toxic to Milo because he dives for it before you even turn to see what it was. You just sigh before going back to your food and trying not to think too much into this.
I think I did, not that it mattered. Erin definitely knows what happened.
Billie looked at this message, laughing as she pictured the look on the assistant’s face as she came into the exam room. She definitely had.
Billie lights another cigarette as she thinks about how to respond to this. She honestly didn’t care if anyone knew about them at this point. With all of the stories in the tabloids, what was really the point of hiding it? Maybe you weren’t ready to go public. She’d understand that and wait as long as you needed. However, if you were okay with telling people, maybe they should do that sooner rather than later.
That didn’t mean that they should make out at your work again though.
Billie decided to bring this up the next time she saw you. Considering the fact that she didn’t get a lot of work done today, she wasn’t sure if she’d have time to see you tomorrow. She’d like to because well to be honest the tension between the two of you was driving her up the wall. She took a drag before deciding that she was going to make it work. It was going to be Friday after all. She was going to work hard and then have some time to relax. If you were available and willing of course.
Once you’re finished making your dinner you call Billie to check on Mickey. Also to just talk to her, but Mickey’s a good excuse. For some reason you feel like you needed one.
“So you never told me how the rest of your day was.”
You smile as you tell her about how it wasn’t that eventful. You didn’t get home until just now and you were exhausted. You had to work tomorrow and this weekend and you were really not looking forward to it. Mostly because you wanted to spend more time with Milo and Billie, but you weren’t going to say that now.
“How about you? Did you manage to get anything done, or were you worried about Mickey?”
Billie Dean sighs as she puts out her cigarette. She hears Bit coming down the stairs and has a feeling she needs to go check on the kittens. She stands up and starts to walk up the stairs as she replies with a shake of her head.
“No, unfortunately. I tried to, but he kept distracting me. He seems to be better though.”
You smile at this news as you shoot Milo a warning look. He can’t get on the couch while you’re eating or else he will be the one eating and you’ll be tackling him to the ground to get your fork out of his mouth. He’s eaten far too many plastic utensils for you to be lenient with him now.
“That’s good at least. Are you going to check on them now?”
You could hear the sound of Billie’s heels on the stairs, but you were only really guessing. She smiled as she reached the top and headed toward the laundry room. She heard quiet mewls and arrived to see a pile of kittens wiggling around in their bed.
“Yes, Bit just came downstairs and Mickey’s at the bottom of the pile. Dammit.”
You try not to laugh because this is a bad thing, but hearing Billie curse and sigh in annoyance as she probably moves to rescue Mickey is something you wish you could see. You wait patiently as you hear little mewls and chitters from the kittens as they’re disturbed. You take this opportunity to finish eating and you put the phone on the table in front of you with another yawn.
“Are you tired?”
You start slightly wondering how Billie heard you before shaking your head. You realize she can’t see you and you hurry to pick up your phone, abandoning your plate on the table. Milo looks to it, but you don’t notice as you respond to Billie.
“A little. It was a long day.”
Billie hums in acknowledgement as she grabs Mickey and takes him back downstairs just as Bit is returning. She shoots her a glare muttering a dirty word under her breath before leaving the laundry room. She hears you laugh, but decided to go back to what you were talking about.
“It wasn’t all bad though?”
Billie had only really been asking about after she left. She was genuinely curious about your day, but when she hears you laugh, she realized what her question sounded like.
“Not at all. I had a very nice lunch.”
You lean back against the couch again and look up at the ceiling as you consider what you’re doing. You’re sure that if you don’t have Billie’s hands on you again soon you’ll go crazy. You close your eyes and take a deep breath, but as quietly as you can.
“Is that right?”
You have to resist the urge to smile as you hear Billie’s teasing voice come through the phone. You can’t for the life of you remember what you ate for lunch, but that wasn’t the nice part of it and you both know it.
“Definitely, but then someone came in with her kittens and interrupted it.”
You bite your lip to stop from laughing. You can practically see the look of astonishment on Billie’s face and you can’t wait to see it in person. You hear Billie take a deep breath, maybe she’s smoking, you can’t tell before she speaks.
“Be careful, Y/N. You don’t want to say something you’ll regret.”
You can only smile because despite the chill that runs up your spine, it’s much less intimidating to be on the phone with Billie talking like this. If she was in front of you, you were convinced you’d already be on your knees. You try not to think about that too much before you simply try your luck. You’re feeling a little braver than usual, and it shows when you chuckle under your breath instead of apologizing immediately.
“Is that right?”
You mimic her words feeling a rush of adrenaline wash over you as you open your eyes again. You don’t have to wait but for a second before Billie’s laughing as well, but it’s not teasing like yours. It sounds more threatening and you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t making you shiver in the best of ways.
“Just wait until I get my hands on you again. You won’t be laughing then, sweetheart.”
You suck in a breath as you sit up suddenly. You shift in your seat as you prepare to respond, but you stop cold when the sight in front of you registers.
“No! Bad Milo! Drop it!”
Milo was trying to sneak the rest of your dinner while you weren’t paying attention, but you don’t realize it until he’s hovering over your plate. You reach out for it only for him to get there first and knock it off the table in his rush to get the food. The plate crashes to the ground spilling food all over the place and you yell again when Milo just runs off with whatever he managed to get.
“Milo! You little shit!”
You groan as you look to the mess that he left before getting on your knees to clean it up. You are reaching for the plate when you hear Billie’s voice from somewhere. Where did your phone go?
“Is everything okay, Y/N? What’s going on?”
You sigh as you reach in between the couch cushions for your phone before putting it to your ear with a huff of annoyance.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Milo just stole food and made a mess.”
You start to clean again, your phone pressed between your ear and shoulder. You decide to try and pretend like the interruption didn’t happen as you speak up with a smile.
“That sounds like an invitation by the way.”
Billie’s laughing at your persistence or rather your dedication to getting what you want. What you both want. She reaches for her drink since she can’t smoke right now and takes a long sip to buy time. Or increase the tension. She’s honestly not sure which any more.
“It was, if you’re interested.”
You nearly laugh but instead just drop what’s in your hands on the table in front of you before grabbing your phone. You’ll deal with Milo and his mess later. For now, you have plans to make.
“Always. Your place or mine?”

10 characters 10 fandoms 10 tags
Thank you for tagging me @damngcoffee !! This took me a while, there’s just way too many fictional characters that i hold close to my heart (probably an unhealthy amount😬) but either way this was fun☺️
1. Ian Gallagher - Shameless (Ian, Fiona and Mickey fighting for that first place is my life’s struggle but here it is...for the meantime)
2. Lucas Lallemant - SKAM France (a baby☺️)
3. Mazikeen Smith - Lucifer (I would like to hold her and protect her but she’s probably kill me...that’s okay tho😊)
4. Nick Miller - New Girl (extremely relatable)
5. Alex Claremont-Diaz - Red, White and Royal Blue (can this include book fandoms??? Either way, I can’t not put my chaotic bisexual son in there)
6. Rosa Diaz - Brooklyn Nine-Nine (i would let her kick my ass any day😌)
7. Castiel - Supernatural (baby 2.0😊)
8. Alexis Rose - Schitt’s Creek (i don’t see a lot of people saying she’s a fave, though she is loved, so idk if this is an unpopular opinion but her growth and the way she cares for her family really puts her up there for me🥺)
9. Zuko - Avatar: The Last Airbender (because i am currently wearing a Zuko shirt with a few of his most memorable quotes...and there’s a lot😂)
10. Lydia Riera - One Day at a Time (look, Rita Moreno is already such an icon and she managed to bring that onto this strong-headed but very loving character and I miss her and the whole show every day😪)
I didn’t plan on doing a commentary for each character, but alas...😂

The Legend of the Three Caballeros: Dope-A-Cabana Review (Commissioned by WeirdKev27)
Tumblr media
Salduos Amigos! Since i’m covering a full series, i’d like to welcome any newcomers to the first part of the epic final stretch of THE RIDE OF THE THREE CABLLEROS! For those of you just joining us, a few months back WeirdKev27, easily my biggest supporter as the only one who comissions any reviews from me, asked if I could do a big project for him: a comission of EVERY major american apperance of those three happy chappies in matching serapes. Give i’ve ALWAYS loved the boys ever since house of mouse and had been sitting on Legend of the Three Cablleros for far too long, more on that in a minute obviously, I happily agreed. Plus the rather nice influx of cash from the comissions was very welcome. If your intrested in comissioning your own, hit me up via my direct messages. It’s 5 dolalrs an episode, though I do do discounts on orders of 3 or more, and 10 for a movie, with again discounts for orders of more than one. And yes that plug was very shamless, but again I have no other job than this.  Back to the point these reviews have taken me on a wonderful journey: I got to rewatch the movie and revel in the fun songs, acid trips and super horny Donald Duck, got to both revisit one of Don Rosa’s best story and read another all time classic from the man I hadn’t before, took a trip back to the house of mouse to hear some great songs and see some great cartoons.. and some not so great ones, took a small detour to Mickey and The Roadster Racers to be baffled and annoyed though I am proud to say it was my first review back after I came down with Cornovirus and lost a week of work time. And finally I covered the town where everyone was nice, and got to see the boys have a joyous reunion with Donald and be lushly animated while.. Dewey jackassed around in a B-Plot and Webby resisted the urge to throat chop him. It’s been a long ride and you can find all of it is so far RIGHT HERE IN THIS CONVIENT LINK ! CLICK IT NOW IF YOUR CURIOUS. Point is while this was well paid for.. it’s easily one of the projects i’ve been most proud of and while i’m sad to see it winding down, i’m proud of what i’ve done so far, and I just wanted to heartily thank Kevin for the ride and for being so generious as to fund the whole damn thing. Your a good dude man.
Which brings us here, to the grand finale. The Legend of the Three Caballeros! As the boys first starring roll as a group since the movie, there was really no other way this retrospective could end, and since I have a terrible problem with procastination and really hated this series version of daisy I just kept pushing back watching the series until now. I’m not proud of it but I am happy to correct it and hope you’ll all come along with me.  Before we get started I could not find much background on the show. It was directred by Matt Danner who was the character designer for the utter classic Xiaoilin Showdown and currently works on the Muppet Babies reboot, so i’m happy he’s still getting work. Otherwise I couldn’t find much. The most I could was on tv tropes, claming the series was orignally meant for Netflix.. and while I have no proof and this could easily be conjecture.. i’m inclined to belivie it. The series was apparently done long before the Ducktales reboot, to the point Frank Angrones was only vaguely aware of it and it didn’t even remotely impact the series, with Panchito and Jose only debuting in Season 2 because the original idea for bringing them in was scrapped. So while I don’t have proof.. I’m inclined to belivie it since it makes sense: Disney DID have a healthy relationship with Netflix once, setting up the MCU shows and likely being happy there.. but eventually they wanted their own corner of the sky, and likely didn’t want one of their shows bolted to the network like all their marvel shows were.  The problem this created though is Disney was CLEARLY left with a show they no longer had a place for. But even with that the show was still done, they COULD have put it on the Disney Now app or just aired it on the Disney Channel. See if there was any fan intrest in season 2 or throw one into production to at least beef up the episode count. I mean the Cabs have a built in fanbase, kids would likely love it... it’s the logical choice. But this is Disney. They’ve had to be drug kicking and screaming into representation, to the point they had to be fought for the gay romance subplot in owl house to happen, try to hide that the Sparkshort “Out” is about a gay man struggling with coming out despite having you know reams of content on the service with either gay subtext or out and out gay characters, and their attempts at doing representatoin to score points in other little ways.. have been pathetic, easily missable bits in movies that could , and have been, edited out in more homophobic countries. My point is yeah i’m still sore about how they and a LOT of the animation industry have to be dragged into doing the right thing over profit, and they often make very stupid decisions for seemingly no reason. They are a good company a good chunk of the time.. but Disney has done fucked up quite a bit. This is one of those times.  Instead they dumped the show on the Disney Life app in the phillipines and slowly some other countries, basically the Disney Now equilvent over there, and then just sort of forgot about it until Disney Plus launched. And given how many shows they HAVEN’T put on the streamer for again, seemingly no reason, it is a nice suprise the show finally got a release on there in the US. But before that, and proving what a massive mistake just abandoing the show was, the show did gather a massive fanbase via people uploading the episodes online. So yeah the show was treated REALLY shittily for stupid reasons, but thankfully it still has a fanbase to this day and said shabby treatment, as it always does, just encouraged fans to support it harder. So naturally i’m more than happy to give the series some spotlight as fanbase or no, it badly needs it and Disney sure as hell dosen’t want to do it. So if somebody’s gotta do it, might as well be me. This is the Legend of the Three Cablleros.  We open on some narration from Xandra, Goddess of Adventure. Granted she hasn’t been identified yet, and won’t be till next episode.. buuuut it’s easier on me to not have to dance around her name so your learning it now. But Xandra narrates that long ago there were epic battles against the good and the evil and all that by epic heroes, and it’s all cumilated in the Legend of the Three Cablleros. Post title drop we’re treated to the boys, in cool looking armor and with neat weapons, fighting a purple monster man as you do in an really beautiful and epic sequence As this scene illustrates the animation for this show is GORGEOUS, a lavish update of the standard disney style with nice use of shadows. It feels almost film quality in it’s work, and it’s an utter treat to watch and opening at the end was a good call: it both ratchets up excitement and allows the first ep to have some action since this one, as part of a two part premiere, is mostly setup. It’s eyecatching, exciting and makes you want to know what the hell is going on. And since Xandra realizes MAYBE starting the story at the climax was a bad idea, she takes us back a bit.
Tumblr media
Okay maybe not that far. No we open properly at Donald’s house, where it’s his birthday! And like the movie, it’s Friday the 13th, an excellent call back. Donald’s making his breakfast, boliling some tea and.. talking with the weird foced warped refelection in the kettle who can apparently only say “right back at you handsome, wink”. Seriously I have so many questoins and all of them are about what this guy is, why is Donald so calm about all of this, and is he still alive after Donald destroys his tea kettle later.  Donaldo gets a call from Daisy, whose visting to spend the day with him and is waiting patiently int he bad part of town. I didn’t know Duckburg had a bad part of town but given Glomgold has to get his sharks and bombs somewhere, i’m not surprised. Unless he special orders them, but even then what if he needs a shark or a bomb in a hurry? He’s gotta get them somewhere and now we know where. So there’s that. So all’s going well until Donald’s asshole boss calls and forces him to come in despite Donald having the fucking day off and it presumably being on the schedule. So Donald rushes to work, and we do get some great gags but as you’d expect for Donald it goes poorly and he botches a kid’s haircut despite the mother being very rude.. and also a female version of pete. LIke.. did he remarry after the divorce from peg or is that his sister? Does that mean PJ and PIstol have a cousin I never knew about? I want answers dammit.. and picutures of spider-man. Not for any slander job I just really like spider-man.
Tumblr media
Eh it’ll do.As i’m doing a full series this time i’m stopping to talk about the main cast as we go soooo.... Tony Anselmo is naturally Donald, even pitching in to consult the crew on Donald’s characterization here, as really what better expert is there? He’s voiced Donald since the original Ducktales and has stuck with the roll since, only taking a break for Mickey and the Roadster racers and that’s likely because between finishing up this series and the Mickey Mouse shorts, and moving on to Ducktales 2017, he likely simply didn’t have the time for it. Granted given how little he was used in the first season of the show, he probably still could’ve done it but regardless, he’s a legend.  Daisy is voiced by Tress Macneile, who not only has voiced the character since House of Mouse and is easily the best voice for her, but is also one of the most storied and legendary va’s in the buisness, having been at this since the 80′s with zero signs of stopping. Just to name a few of her more notable roles, in chronological order; Gadget Hackenwrench, Babs Bunny, Agnes Skinner, Charlotte Pickles, Dot Warner (Which as of last year she’s picked up again and will do the same for Babs, just in case you thought i was exagerating on the “zero signs of stopping” thing), Pookie from Hey Arnold, Mom, Hoodsey Bishop, and Queen Oona among MANY, MANY smaller rolls. I didn’t even realize Charlotte or Hodsey were here, she’s that talented and deserves all the praise.. and way better rolls as Daisy than this one but we’ll both get to that and thankfully much like with Tony, the reboot’s giving her character some depth to work with so she gets to reallys tretch her chops. The woman turns 70 here, will likely keep going until she dies, and is wonderful and deserves more respect.
So because this is Donald, life wont stop punching him in the face and it turns out his house burned down, the fire people are destroying everything because their assholes, seriously they destroy both a family heirloom and a picture of his parents despite not being on fire. I’d be genuinely suprised if their general strategy wasn’t scremaing “fire, fire fire” and then going “rock rock rock” while they throw rocks on it. Super brucey bonus prize for the first person who gets that refrence and comments on it. I’ll get back to this in a second but SOMEHOW, beisdes loosing his home, all his possesions and his job... it gets even WORSE and Daisy calls, refuses to listen to him despite him having VERY valid excuses and breaks up with him. Oh and then the fire fighters gladly talk about going home to their in tact houses  and partners.
Tumblr media
So yeah let’s talk about this. This first 6 or 7 minutes.. is why I didn’t return to the show for a while. My brain has a bad habit of glomming onto certain parts of things, so it remembered the rough to sit through and not very funny first act.. and not the rest of the episode which is very good and likely more indiciative about how good the series is. Thankfully it does get better but this first act .. frames things like it’s DONALD’S fault somehow. I mean yes he did burn his house down.. but even that really isn’t his fault. He was called away suddenly, wasn’t thinking and made a mistake. Hell he proabably woudl’ve had more left if the fire department hadn’t gone crazy with the axes. His being called into work? He took the day off, and his boss was just a dick. His screwing up at the job? he was genuinely trying his best and doing his best and the client was just wholly unresonable. Donald did nothing wrong but the episode WANTS to frame him like some sort of screwup.. which he is, it’s Donald.. but not in this case. It was just a string of uncomfortable to watch bad luck that cumilates in him having nothing left. It’s not funny, it’s jsust really sad and it’s REALLY hard to tell the tone their going for as they seem to awkwardly bounce from jokes to Donald being utterly devistated and alone.
And the worst of this.. is Daisy. Daisy is EASILY the most infamous part of the show, as their portryal.. is pretty bad and apparently gets worse. We’ll see as we go but yeah.. her screaming at and breaking up with her boyfriend without listneing to his side and giving the claim we only have HER word on that he’s always screwing up, ON HIS BIRTHDAY no less, when he’s done nothing wrong, does not make a good first impression nor the fact the show seems to AGREE WITH HER. And look Donald is a trainwreck, this is true.. but the show dosen’t remotely portray him as one until AFTER this scene. As I said nothing that happened was his fault. Donald isn’t irresponsible or a screwup or dating a high schooler or anything. He isn’t Scott Pilgrim. He just has really bad luck. Again, we do see some foibles in the scenes to come.. but we don’t see any that would justify her claims, especially since she seemed perfectly happy earlier with him. Now if she’d say brought up some screwups in the first scene, and gently at that, then this would’ve worked.. but as it stands she just comes off as MASSIVELY unsymapthetic.. especially since Donald later calls her nieces over for help, which is objectively weird not gonna lie.. so she now KNOWS he had to move to a new house and his likely burned down.. yet still apparently has nothing good to say about him.
Tumblr media
It didn’t help this rubbed me the wrong way in a very special way. As i’ve made plain before I don’t like THIS version of Daisy, the nagging, selfish, vindictive asshole who will gladly try and cheat on donald, dump him at a moments notice and you know PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE. Which just in case you think i’m exagerating...
Tumblr media
She fucking upercutted him..and like here for something that isn’t his fault. I mean this Daisy isn’t physically beating Donald.. but that’s a VERY low bar to clear. And emotional abuse is just as bad, so there. My point is too often in the comics when written poorly, Daisy is a pretty terrible person and I REALLY didn’t want a screen adaptation of this form of Daisy. It took a WHILE to recover from not liking daisy over this version, with help from remembering house of mouse, some good barks story with her and the AMAZING Ducktales version and the suprisingly good Quack Pack version.. I did. But yeah.. this is not a good sign of things to come for the character in this show.
So yeah Donald’s heart is in the basement and his week is at an all time low when a post man shows up and gives him a letter.. well puts it in the box for a good gag but semantics. But the letter turns around as his ancestor Clinton Coot left him an inhertance for his 3Xth birthday: a house of some kind in the swanky neighboring town of New Quackmore. And i’ll also say.. it’s REALLY nice that for once, we focus on the Duck side of Donald’s legacy, or rather the coot but semantics, instead of the McDuck part. Don’t get me wrong, I fucking love the clanmcduck, always will and I love Ducktales exploration of it.. but it’s still nice to acknowledge Donald comes from two sides and while one of those may be humble farmers, they still accomplished a lot, including founding Duckburg in most continuities including presumably this one. It’s also a good way to seperate thigns from other properties including the reboot: focusing on a part of Donald’s lineage that isn’t usually touched on and making THEM just as badass as the other side.
Tumblr media
So we get a quick montage as Donald takes a cab there and takes in the rich and fancy sights. It’s also a brilliant way to set up New Quackmore and it’s attached instutite as a fancy, upperclass place.. and thus perfectly clash it with Donald. Donald ends up getting dropped off at a big mansion.. which is not his , but belongs to the insittutes head, Baron Von Sheldgoose, played by WAYNE KNIGHT.
Tumblr media
Hell. Yes. I freaking love Wayne Knight. In case you don’t know who the man above is, or at least don’t recognize his face, Wayne Knight is a very funny and talented actor and voice actor with a lengthy career primarily in side rolls, with the rolls that he broke out with being loveable asshole and Jerry’s enternal nemisis Newman on Seinfeld and Dennis Nedry, aka “that guy who got sprayed acid in his face by those horrifying frilled dinosaurs that will never not haunt my nightmares”. Seriously that scene fucked me up as a kid and I could not watch that part of the movie. For the most part he’s been a side character man but he has done a LOT of voice work, most notable Zurg in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Dojo for the aformentioned and excellent Xiaolin Showdown, and Mr. Blik for Catscratch and I wish he’d do more. He also recently voiced the penguin in Harley Quin so when I get to that you better belivie i’m looking forward to it. Point is while he may not always get the glory, and had to settle for starring in a mediocre tv land sitcom to get a steady paycheck once, the man is VERY talented, very funny and perfectly cast here.
So Donald makes himself home, finds out it’s not HIS home and gets thrown out by the snooty rich asshole’s bodyguards. As you’d expect. Donald does find HIS home, a run down cabana next door to the mansion with caution tape all over. Still Donald takes it best he can as it’s better than no home at all> What he doesn’t take well is finding out from the executor of the will that he’s not the only one inheriting the house... which is  absolutley fair. The guy just had the worst day of his life, and this lady didn’t bother to put in the letter to any of them that they were sharing the house. The Sheldgoose thing was just an average Donald screw up. This is just this lady going...
youtube
But yes we meet our boys.. and the introductions are naturally given this series is about them the best we’ve gotten so far: Jose is thrown off a bus, having ran out of fair, and having wooed all the ladies on board, and quickly charms the executor and is perfectly cordial to Donald, while Panchito parachutes out of a plane and marvels at how he went from nothing to having two new best friends, a run down shack and a sleezy lawyer! In short the two make a great first impression, helped by wonderful casting.  Jose is voiced by Eric Bauza, a talented voice actor whose had WAY too many roles to list here, but two of the most notable are being the current voice of Bugs and Daffy, and his most notable role outside that recently has been playing Splinter in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But the guy is endlessly talented, seems really nice, and is easily one of my faviorite Jose’s so far after just one episode. He just.. gets the character perfectly and is thankfully NOT another white guy stepping into the role, so that’s nice. He easily oozes the charm and layabout nature Jose and was a natural in the role and i hope he gets to take it up again at some point.  Speaking of naturals we have Jamie Camil as Panchito, who easily steps into the guys boundless energy and the sterotpical bits are swapped out for making him a cloud cuckoolander instead, which I genuinely love and fits the character perfectly. He’s best known for CW Soap Jane the Virgin, where his charcter Rodrigo just sounds like a delight, but has recently picked up a pretty good voice acting career, vocing Don Karnage in the Ducktales reboot, Globgor in Star vs the Forces of Evil and Todd’s Stepdad George in Bojack Horseman. I only hope he gets more voice work as he’s really damn great at it and it’s wonderful to get to see him in a role that’s not limited to a few episodes at best for a change.
So Donald’s less than happy about this, again it’s hard to really be that mad at him when he’s had a really, REALLY bad day and wasn’t told about this, but it’s kept to just the light level of grumpy as to not make him unlikeable. Granted after that intro it’d take a LOT to make him unsympathetic, but after their version of Daisy I really dont’ want to test this series.  Our boys also find out they have a groundskeeper, ari, aka THE ARCUAN BIRD! He’s just a delight any time he pops up, doing his usual “ya ta ta ta” bit, and being adorable and hilarioius as always.. and also hilariously failing to fix the boys door. So Donald ends up just accepting he has roomates now, nothing he can do, and the three explore the house finding all sorts of cool old artifacts, feeling they’ve stumbled onto something specail. And you know what that means: YARD SALE! Seriously it feels like a bit out of Wet Hot American Summer or Stella, a  series from the same creators you really should check out and that is high praise, trust me.
youtube
I wish this series was streaming somewhere.. I mean we finally got Clone HIgh streaming Viacom, get on that. Anyways, it’s just.. fucking hilarious, and a LOT of this episode is once we walk back from the writers kicking donald in the junk and acting like it was his fault. Once Donald gets his inhertiance, the episode picks up immensley and we see the shows real charm and hilarirty fly, with jokes coming at a rapid and wonderful pace. The show really did impress me with the second half and made me utterly excited for tommrow.. or I guess today’s, look at the follow up.  But we’re still in this episode and being a rich asshole, Sheldgoose isn’t happy about a yard sale, though given this series standards, we not only get some great deliveres from Knight of an outraged “A YARD SALE?!”... but a wonderful gag where Sheldgoose out to white guy it up and yell at them over this..accidently takes a wrong turn in his massive house, and turns around, not loosing how upset he is once.  Meanwhile, we meet.. April, May and June. Yeah apparnetly Della isn’t dead or lost in this continuity, so the boys are MIA, and are instead replaced by Daisy’s Nieces, who I hope show up in the reboot before it ends. Especially since the show makes them WAY more tolerable than classic huey dewey and louie and instead enjoyable like Ducktales HDL. While not as indvidual as those three, the three are still idendtical outside of outfits, their voice actress Jessica DiCicco uses her consderiable talents and experince to give each one a unique voice, so while they all share a voice actress, none of them sound alike. And to round out our main cast for now, as our last members will be joining us fully next time, let’s talke about Jessica DiCicco. Jessica is a very talented and increasingly prolific voice actor and if you haven’t heard of her, and you probably have, you’ve defintely heard her voice. Starting out with Disney, hence why the probably called on her for this, she did the voices of Maggie for the Buzz on Maggie and Melina for Emperor’s New School before breaking out as Flame Princess on Adventure Time, whose both one of my faviorite characters from the show and one we’ll be digging into starting next month. And not one to rest easily she picked up a second set of iconic rolls vocing Lynn and Lucy Loud on The Loud HOuse, and funnily enough using those voices for two of the girls here. And along with Loud House she’s also currently starring in it’s Pony and is int he main cast of Close Enough as Candace. My point is she’s exceedingly talented.. as is this whole cast, as it’s a DAMN excellent cast and just further sells that this series deserves better.  We’ll get into the girls more next time as they don’t do much here other than get called in by Donald for help, with what I saw of episode 2 fleshing them out more. Point is Sheldgoose offers a million dollars for the cabana and all it’s stuff and the boys are glad to sell.. they just have to find something Sheldgoose desperately wants, a mysterious golden atlas encrusted with Jewels.  Our heroes head in to find it with Panchito finding it, and being very specific about it. We also get a nice call back to Ari destroying the door as Jose cleverly calls on him to destroy the lock. So our heroes open the book... and a goddess pops out and threatens to kill them all.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts: Dope-A-Cabana is a decent intro the series, but as i’ve said it’s heavily hampered by a weak and mean spirited first act. But once it gets going it REALLY gets going and as part 1 one of a two part pilot, it does it’s job well once it does get going: introducing our three boys and one of our antagonists well and setting up the side cast and preparing for our last to major additions Next Time: The Boys go on their first adventure, Sheldgoose finds a boss and the girls find their voice. Thanks for Reading, Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye.
