I’ve just watched The VVitch and, let me tell you, I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I can relate so much to Thomasin. After all, her “parents” (especially her “mother”) have abused her and did not love anybody. However, the only difference is that while Thomasin was raised as a Puritan, I was raised as a Russian Jew and, fuck, that really harmed me too!

Idea:
Brigerton s3 about Benedict right? While I love the summaries of his storyline with the girl, people saying its a love between classes are wrong? She os the daughter of an earl. Just tricked by a step mother. Instead of the happy ending being “oh you were born high class all along!” What could happen is that in seeing that Benedict was willing to still go with her BEFORE knowing she was the daughter of an Earl, Eloise’s storyline could be about fixing her relationship with Penelope and then seeing her brother’s relationship she could be like “fuck it” and go for Theo!!! How amazing if s3 ends with the cliffhanger of Eloise and Theo kissing???? Then her season is the 4th one and Colin’s the 5th one? Because that would give Penelope and Colin also time to really grow as characters and their relationship (people say the beauty of their particular relationship is the slow burn throughout various books). And Benedict and Eloise are the closest siblings, so that makes it perfect to go from Benedict’s to Eloise’s season.
I especially hate that in the books 1) Eloise ends up with someone much older than her. 2) Phillip would mean they would have to get Marina to commit suicide. Not even for the purpose of mental health commentary, but to get Eloise’s storyline going. That would mean that 1) they would give Marina an underserved finale and unhappy one for the sake of someone else’s plot. 2) making a black female character kill herself for the sake of the storyline of a white girl.
Marina deserves more. So does Eloise. Once upon a time I was thinking the solution to that could also be having them be gay together. But Theo really fits so well with her. Is the opportunity for her character to go more into politics, break from the shallow feminism, touch intersectional feminism by also speaking to other women from other classes and continue going to rallies. Theo and her also have amazing chemistry, and Eloise would be with someone her age and not older. Not that it’s atrocious but her character deserves better. Not that the books may have done her bad, but at least in the show she (and Marina) deserve better. If needed to, the storyline could have her travel to Marina and Phillip’s (maybe Marina doesnt die, but its depressed, and Eloise goes there and helps Mariana’s mental health too!!! Women supporting women!!) and for x or y reason Theo is working at their house and they are forced to be living in the same house outside of London
I just really hope Shonda breaks away from the books, and gives Marina, Eloise, and Theo they chance they deserve to a happy ending.
Edit: crying at people saying the class commentary comes from Benedict’s storyline when at the end of the day the girl ends up being the daughter of a fucking Earl??? I want actual commentary on people. Idc if Phillip likes to read too either like… I want Eloise breaking the mold on political commentary and for her feminism to become intersectional and keep in mind women of other classes, which Theo can offer. And I don’t care for killing Marina off for the sake of another girl’s plot. Like the way all those things are awful. And yes race absolutely plays a card. Killing Marina off is making a black female character get killed off for no reason other than to move forward the plot of a white female character. And to have said white female character raise her babies, which are Marina’s only source of joy. We can do better for both ladies who cares of the plot of the books. They have said up Phillip, but that doesn’t mean they can’t change things. A better thing if anything is to use Phillip too and have him find actual happiness with Marina. Which is why the idea of having Eloise go help them both and Theo work for them kinda works well.
Not the same as Anthony and S. Anthony was an ass that to that girl in s1 and she didn’t serve his character for growth much (although it would have been great to see her happy in a cameo). Theo on the other hand serves Eloise better than Phillip does by putting her in a even more political involved atmosphere and teaching her of the things she claims to read about. It moves her towards change. Not just intellectual companionship the way Phillip might do in books, but has her actually DOING shit with Theo, so she can move from what Penelope herself said “you always speak but never do”. And Phillip might be 2 years older in the books but he is clearly older in the series. And has fathered someone for a while now while Eloise is still really young. Daphne might have been ready for kids since a young age, but Eloise is very clearly not.
