Sometimes I think about how depressed and lonely Villanelle must have been her whole life. The only thing she was passionate about was killing in her artistic way and wearing fancy clothes. Luxurious things. Adrenaline and fast endorphins.

Before meeting Eve she had felt bored and numb. When she wasn’t doing her job she needed to stay low, invisible – to be invincible. She could afford everything but still – it was crucial to be a loner. Those brief sexual encounters could hardly be counted. Even in the books, her character was constantly disguising herself, making "friends" to seem like a socialite and occasionally having sex to control these people who might be useful. She even seduces her therapist to feel power over her. 

But as soon as she gets what she wants, she gets bored and doomed again. It's very sad and depressing to be rejected by the world, by her family, by society. Deep down, she knows that even by controlling things, she can't be happy. Eventually she admits that this isn't the life she wants, that she feels like shit all the time, and the only person she feels something with is Eve.

It's actually Konstantine too, so we have to admit that Villanelle isn't just obsessed with Eve, she's actually capable of being in relationships with a few people. It doesn't have to be a crowd, a small family is enough. Konstantine is family. And Eve is her passion and love, her soulmate, her crush who actually turned into a real thing.

I love that even in her boredom and depression, Villanelle admits that she has feelings for Eve, and she tells her the truth, all the time, since her hilarous breaking and entering in Eve’s bathroom. She doesn't lie to Eve, she doesn't need to, because she believes that Eve can really understand her on a deeper level. This means hope, and hope means the future. Villanelle believes in her future, in their future with Eve, and it's wonderful, isn’t it? It's her way of accepting life, embracing her feelings, and her ability to love someone else. 

There’s nothing like “playing cold” in their story like in most of the movies and romances. It’s just Eve being in denial, processing feelings she has, having a hard time embracing her shadow part (and she prefers things to be buried, as we remember). Well, this process needed time, and Villanelle was waiting. It was hard for her too, because sometimes she felt disappointed and hopeless and god, she hated that so much! That’s why she tried to run away and get over Eve several times. She’s only a human, after all. 

But in the end they both “get the achievable”, after they work on their relationship. Finally they can be happy together, left alone in a room and be committed to each other.

And that's exactly what Eve is talking about, using the metaphor of Kintsugi on that damn ship.

Flowers for princess Blaze

A little fox lives in a dystopian city riddled with tyranny, pollution, and abhorrent industrialization. Abandoned by their parents, and avoided and bullied by their peers for their outlandish interests in mechanics and an odd mutation, they hide away in the city's metro.

There's one small hope the fox clings to since the first days they could remember. Lying hidden and carefully protected within their burrow, there's a small set of fantasy books filled with peculiar writing, hard purple cover ragged at the edges, corners of the pages ripped and scratched up. Not because of mistreatment or carelessness but of constant use, the friction of the paper, and the brush of gloved fingers near daily. They do not know where they got these books from or how they exist in the first place, but they know its their last line of defense against the cruel world ouside.

Books were something unheard of in New Yoke city. Some elders would probably remember them as they apparently used to be a common place from the times way before, times unknown to the young fox, and only relayed in old abandoned picture frames or physical scripts like the ones in their possession.

Everything was now replaced with tablets, holograms, and palm-sized glass screens. And while it was compact, easy to read through, capable of finding any information allowed through by the Council's harsh censoring and simply carried around in one's pocket, it never brought the same blanket of comfort as holding a carefully relayed and glued together mesh of pages filled with endless possibilities of words that made no sense in the context of reality did.

At least not the one the little fox lived in.

They were smart and curious. They knew the hostilities of the world, It hated them for they were different. But hidden away in their little workshop beneath the ground, they found the world inside those books real. Logically they knew it wasn't. It were mere fantasies of days gone past and someone who perhaps had too many elusive substances to consume. But to a young imaginative mind, yearning for the smallest semblances of escape from the cruelness of reality, it began to seem real.

Logically they used to know it couldn't be, magic and ravens didn't exist, cats didn't have fire powers and the only authoritative titles were reserved for the heads of the Chaos Council. But ask the fox and they could recite you the complicated words and tongue-twisting names as if merely striking an everyday conversation. They would spent daydreaming for hours, playing with gadgets and fabric to recreate the magic described on those delicate pieces of paper and practice their peech and amnnerisms, and playing alone down in the subway tunnels.

As the years went on, they unknowingly got trapped in a small game of play pretend. Reasoning one day, that they were so different for they were not of this world, but an exiled royal of another dimension and locked away by their enemies in hopes of losing their power and never returning to salvage the world.

Logically they used to know no such things as alternative dimensions existed. Castles and dragons did neither. Yet a small fox abandoned by the world itself could dream. They merely had to regain their power and ascend back to their world to finally rid it of sin and fight, for a princess never surrenders her nobility and dreams.

They used to know it was just a storybook. But a lonely mind of an abused child looks for any escape possible to them. And sometimes, when there's no one to save them before it's too late, they get lost in their own fantasy.

#so explanation. dr footsteps level 5 dialogue implies that there's a social gap between wild and caught pokemon #wild pokemon tend to seek out trainers to join their teams so that they can get stronger and certain types (tough iirc) brag about it #while other types tend to wonder if their friends from the wild would even recognize them if they were to meet again #meanwhile wild pokemon who dont want a trainer are implied to be either prideful of not having a human or resentful that theyre weaker #so. that dialogue inspired me to create the story between castor's parents which i can say bc it has no bearing on the real story lmao #basically dusk was specifically bred to have perfect IVs and a hidden ability and bought by a trainer who didnt exactly neglect her #but didnt give her much of an emotional connection and only cared abt what she brought to the table with battling #so she didnt exactly have a choice in being caught at all nor did she have any choice in her specific trainer. #regardless though. shes in a place where it's supported that wild pokemon are missing out and shes in the best possible position #so she boasts about it and kinda looks down on wild pokemon #bruno meanwhile was an alpha pokemon who was practically pushed and trained into a leadership role since he hatched #he was born in a group of skorupis and its been an unspoken expectation that they are his responsibility #being an alpha also means that he didnt actually need a trainer to become as powerful as he became (reaching around level 75 just being wild #so he also looks down on trained pokemon because he did not have that experience and finds solace in his community #yet at the same time he resents his position bc he never chose to be a leader and he has to pretend to be vicious #when in actuality hes extremely tame for a drapion and wants nothing more than to settle down #so dusk deep down secretly kinda yearns for the wild bc she wants to know what its like and bruno secretly wants a chill trainer #that probably just feeds him and lets him sleep in their yard #meaning that the two of them are Inherently incompatible despite what they believe #bc like no matter what. if they tried to stay together someone would have been miserable #because dusk has no experience in the wild at all and likely would have perished sooner than anticipated #and also doesnt get the rigorous training she desires #while if bruno joined her trainers team then he would be leaving the skorupi to be vulnerable in the great marsh #and joining a team where only his mate would have had an emotional connection to him when community was so important before #and so they both have to stay in their positions and theyre both kinda looking down on one another AND being very jealous of them #so like. they can talk abt how their romance was escapism all they want but it NEVERwas gonna work out. sorry castor #you were always destined to be a child of divorce #id like to think that dusk at least gets a different trainer that still uses her competitively as she loves #but also gives her the affection and friendship and connection that shes always yearned for #but like. way way later on bc when she gives up castor she is extremely deep in the fog and terrified of losing her trainer
