Merlin and Gwen: Bad Friends or Rational Strategists?

Merlin and Gwen both know that, whether Arthur attempts a rescue mission or not, their missing friend(s) is either already dead (and thus, Arthur is endangering himself for nothing) or being kept alive (putting Arthur at a higher risk of death than them). If Arthur also dies then not only is Camelot doomed, but they’ve lost yet another loved one in so short a time. Arthur’s ambition is noble, but it isn’t wise.
