I see your increasingly eldritch ghost form for Danny, and I raise you:
Phantom who, instead of looking more ghostly, is just a little too much like a human.
Like yeah, everyone knows Danny Fenton can send literal chills up people's spines and they swear they've seen his eyes start to glow in the right light, but have you seen Phantom? Like why isn't his skin green or blue or even deathly white? It's a lot healthier looking than Fenton's, that's for sure.
And just about every ghost that comes through has crazy sharp fangs, but if anything, Phantom's canines are just a little sharper than normal, but really they don't look too different than Wes' when he's on one of his rage induced rants.
Not to mention the physical presence he has in Amity Park. The way he inhabits space just feels different than most other ghosts, as if Phantom is somehow more connected to the physical world. Like why is he opening doors when he can just phase through them?
Kat, who works the after school shifts at the Nasty Burger with Valerie, swears up and down that she's seen him sitting on the roof, eating two or three burgers at a time (and sharing his fries with the little blob ghost family that lives in the dumpsters).
Dale knows for a fact he's seen Phantom talking on a cell phone of all things with someone. Even claims he heard Phantom mention something about playing DOOMED.
Mrs. Greigerit, the tiny old lady who's cashiered at the grocery store since forever, loves to talk about the time Phantom grabbed a few first aid supplies off the shelves after a ghost attack to help a woman and her toddler patch up until EMS arrived. According to her, he knew exactly how to work with these things meant to heal humans, and he even left a crumpled handful of human cash on her counter to pay for the supplies before he disappeared.
Amity Park notices, just like they notice the strangeness that surrounds Danny Fenton. But really, maybe it's just AP weirdness finally rubbing off on Phantom.
Everyone brushes it off until Jack and Maddie Fenton do the unthinkable and offer their help to Phantom after a particularly nasty fight.
"We saw him there, and... we saw just another person who needed help," Jack tells Tiffany Snow later that day. "A kid who could've been going to school with mine. What else were we supposed to do?"

soo you;re bored i see
how about part 2 to the messing around before class one you did. that was awsome and i N E E D pt 2 for it!
from ya fave fangirl - Maddy!!!!!
A/n: I FINALLY UPLOADED BESTIES! Sorry for the long wait- uh just a warning, this one may not be the best (at least at the end)- I did hint more towards Y/n being a plant monster like venus by mentioning the fact her blood is green and stuff. Also yes, yes I did look up Deuce's middle name for this.
PT 2 to this
POV: Deuce and Y/n skipping class
Deuce and Y/n walked down the halls, scanning for any teachers before bolting down towards one of the secret passageways, this one in the form of a statue of a harpy. Y/n pulled down the statues left wing, causing it to move aside allowing them to go through.
The passageway was dark, damp, dreary and often had a weird decaying smell that they had no idea of the source, and yet, this was where Y/n and Deuce would go to get away. They didn’t mind the fact the stone bricks was growing mold, or the fact the ground was always slippery and uneven which often caused Y/n to trip over and Deuce having to steady her. They didn’t mind the fact it was near impossible to see anything other than their eyes without a flashlight, nor did they mind the fact the walls kept sprouting vines that would attack Deuce (particularly since it was Y/n doing that as revenge for him laughing at her for tripping).
As long as they were together, they didn’t mind.
Y/n pulled her flashlight out of her bag and switched it on, Deuce doing the same. The two pointed their flashlights at their faces as Y/n leaned against the cold stone wall, a sigh escaping her lips as she ran her free hand through her hair.
“Is it bad that I found that oddly stressful?” Y/n asked, leaning her head back on the wall, lowering her hand from her head to summon a vine to hold her flashlight for her.
“No, I did too.” Deuce responded letting out a small laugh.
“Do you think Draculaura knows my blood would technically be… greener than red? Since you know I’m pretty much a plant.” Y/n pointed out raising a brow as she lifted her head to look at Deuce.
“Who knows, I was more focused on Heath ‘You would be SUCH a cute couple’, ‘You should ask her out dude.’” Deuce mimicked making Y/n laugh before groaning.
“I never wanna go to that class again.” She groaned slamming her head against the wall.
Deuce chuckled before speaking.
“We don’t have to if you don’t want to, we can just skip Mr Komos’s class for the rest of the year, hang out in here.” He suggested.
“Nah, I don’t really feel like failing that class, my parents would kill me.” Y/n shrugged.
At this, Deuce merely smiled and spoke without thinking.
“Well, you could always come stay with me for the holidays, they can’t kill you then.”
Y/n once again moved her head off the wall to look at him, quirking a brow.
“Oh? Is that an invitation your extending Mr Gorgon?” She asked smirking.
“And so, what if it is Ms L/n?” He asked, smirking himself.
“I suppose I’d agree, although it depends.”
“On what?” Deuce asked raising a brow.
“On how much I like you at the end of the year.” She shrugged causing Deuce to playfully scoff and roll his eyes.
Y/n laughed at his behaviour for a moment before turning serious.
“Do- do you think our friends see something we don’t?” She asked looking at him.
“How do you mean?”
“I mean all of our friends think we’re a couple, they constantly ask us if we’re together and I kind of understand why.” Y/n mused.
“I don’t understand…”
“I- Deuce…” She sighed before speaking “Do- do you like me? Because and- I hate to admit this because you are my very best friend and I fear what may happen to our friendship if I do admit this but- I really, really like you Deuce Phorcys Gorgon- like a lot, so much so it hurts.”
Deuce paused, looking at the girl of whom’s cheeks- just like she’d said- had gained a greenish tint.
“Y/n… I do like you, more than you know- when you’re not around, I can barely breathe, I can’t stop thinking about you Y/n, you and you alone are the keeper of the key to my heart- Y/n my heart is yours. If you asked me to, I would die for you. Y/n I- I love you.” Deuce spoke.
Y/n gazed into his green eyes, her own eyes welling up with orange tears.
“Can- Can I kiss you?” He asked tentatively.
Y/n nodded, the flashlights flickering as the batteries grew low.
“Are you sure because I really want to-”
“Just kiss me you idiot.” She breathed stepping closer to him.
He dropped his flashlight and closed the gap between them, pulling her into a deep and passionate kiss as the flashlights died, leaving them in total darkness, their eyes closed as they kissed- only pulling away to breathe.
“Might be a good idea to… not tell our friends about this.” Y/n breathed, her arms wrapped around Deuces neck and her forehead leaned against his “They’ll be relentless.”
“Yeah, probably.” Deuce breathed, looking into the girl’s eyes.

Murder Mysteries and Afterlife Businesses Part 2 // Wally Clark
IN WHICH: In which the aftermath of Dawn’s crossing over, other things come to light, and Reader becomes more involved despite her resistance. But what happens when more and more information comes out and more secrets become unraveled.
Warnings: Swearing, angst, mention of murder, ghosts and some fluff
Words: 4k
A/N: Welcome to part 2 of Murder Mysteries. Thank you for the support and interest you’ve had since I posted the first part! The gif will make sense.
Part One
Masterlist
Tumblr media
It seemed lately it was all the rage to barge into your studio since Maddie had joined the death crew. Charley had burst through the door with a gust of nervous energy and a lack of manners.
“Dawn’s crossed over.” He huffed, clenching the doorframe with his fingers.
Your brows furrowed, “When?”
“Did the lights flicker? Did you get goosebumps?”
Your teeth came down to gnaw on the skin of your lip, thinking back to the odd moment you’d been standing outside. All new blankets or quilts you liked to hang out on a line to catch the scent of the morning breeze. You’d noticed all the buildings on campus had lost power for a split second.
“I was outside. The light in the school did.” You replied, twisting to focus back on organizing the new fabric and thread you’d gotten.
“That was Dawn.”
Your head snapped up to meet his freaked-out eyes.
Now you knew for a fact that when Janet left, it was absolutely nothing like that. From what you’d gathered, she’d been there one moment and gone the next.
“But that didn’t happen when Janet left. Or when Brady crossed over.” You murmured, forgoing your tasks to focus solely on the unnerved ghost, “Are you sure?”
“He’s sure.” Wally breathed from the entrance. His hands shoved in his variety jacket pockets, his hand one raising in a friendly wave, “Hey.”
Your eyebrow lifted, “Ain’t I miss popularity lately. Okay, I’ll bite. In the decades since either of you joined the afterlife, have you ever questioned how crossing over works?”
Wally shrugged, “I thought it was a very personal and sensitive event. Besides, Janet and Brady are the only ones we know that crossed over.”
The sound of your brother’s name falling from Wally’s lips makes your own twist sourly. The loss of Brady aching all the more.
“The only one who’d know would be Mr. Martin. And we have no reason to not trust him. Right?” Charley said, breaking the silence brought on by Wally’s words. Then, Charley’s dark irises peered as you shifted to toy with a keychain on display, “Right…Renai?”
Okay, so maybe, just maybe, Maddie’s ability to speak with Simon wasn’t the only earth-shattering piece of information. There were reasons for not wanting to join the support group. You couldn’t stomach looking at Mr. Martin. A level of disgust was always there, tying in with your morals.
Mr. Martin held a lot of control as the only adult ghost on the property and, with his position, held more respect. A lot more than a slimy teacher deserved. In order to not attend the sessions, you had a deal of sorts with him. Besides, the weird lightning-fast glances with Janet were a little odd when you saw them together.
“No. Not a reason.” You uneasily replied, shifting to scratch an itch on the bridge of your nose, “I’m not sure how Dawn’s crossed over like that, but maybe it’s just something that changes with each person. Your best bet would be asking Mr. Martin because Wally is right. Crossing over is a deeply intimate moment, and it’s really taboo. But, honestly, even the death event is as well.”
You watched as Charley left the building before shifting to look at Wally, “Hey, Wally?”
“Yeah?” The athlete whipped around to stare at you, “Something wrong?”
“Just…be careful.” You whispered, reaching to squeeze his arm, “Something isn’t right.”
All Wally could do was scan your features; he was sure he saw a flicker of guilt wave over, but he shoved that thought away. He nodded and turned on his heel to follow the ’90s ghost back to the school and the group they’d left. They had a group session to attend and answers to be demanded.
“Oh, Brady. You’d know what to do.” You mumbled, shifting to grab the phone off the desk to check in on other matters.
Tumblr media
Split River High School, the late 2000s
Your hand clenched the backpack tossed carelessly over your shoulder, listening to Linkin Park’s album on your iPod. You and Brady had spent the better half of the night ripping albums off of Limewire and creating playlists with each other. The lack of sleep was worth hearing the lyrics flowing into the earbuds from the iPod.
Brady’s shoulder bumped yours when he waved to your father from the parked car on the corner. Brady had always gotten along better with your father than you did. You had an easier time with your mom instead.
“You should take him up on his offer,” Brady spoke when he noticed the song winding down. His eyes flash to yours on your trek over the football field.
“Spend hours in uncomfortable silence while our dad tries and ultimately fails to connect with me?” You scoffed, “Isn’t that a typical Tuesday for us? Besides, I’m heading up to Chicago for that new thrift store?”
“It’s not like you make it easy, Renai.” Brady snorted, tugging the one earbud to put in his ear, “Get him to drive you. There’s that record store you two to go to…and because I’m using the car.”
Your jaw dropped, shifting to turn to face the bane of your existence, “Brady! It’s my weekend! I missed the last two because you forgot to take the car for an oil change!”
“Just take Dad, please. We don’t have much longer until we’re far from Split River. Please make an attempt at fixing your relationship. That way, you can say you tried.”
You rolled your eyes, but you silently promised you’d at least try to have some form of bonding with the guy that tried his best. But really, why bother when all you needed was Brady, and you had your entire life to get on better terms with Dad.
Famous last words.
Tumblr media
“What do you remember the day that Brady crossed over?” Wally questioned from his position near the blankets hung up.
His hands removed each clothespin to carefully fold the new quilt you’d finished only a few days ago. He’d shown up somewhat out of nowhere to help you, and you didn’t put up much of a fight. While angry and hurt, you had missed him in the years of distance.
Your hands froze, “Why are you asking?”
“I’m curious.”
You poked your head around the burgundy fabric you had little clue about what you’d use it for. A new item one the ghosts had snagged from the fabric store in town.
“Well…uh.”
Tumblr media
Split River High School, Highlands House Studio
You and Brady never worked Sundays. Ever. In life as kids, it had been days spent as part of your family’s religion before it evolved into how you spent it as teens. In the afterlife, you considered it to be the one day a week you would decompress from all the work and relax. You and Brady were close in life and death, but Sundays you spent away from each other.
You never knew what he did; he preferred not knowing what you did with Wally on those days.
This Sunday, you had woken up with Wally in your small bedroom in the studio and treated yourselves to breakfast in the school cafeteria. You took a walk and smiled when Wally gently dropped his varsity jacket over your bare shoulders. His hand slipped into yours.
“Can we postpone our date? Brady needs my help with something.” Wally questioned, leaning back against the crumbling brick of the school’s side. He felt your head nod in response from its position against his chest.
“Yeah. I can finish up on a project.” You murmured, curling further into his warmth.
Tumblr media
Your eyes focused back on gently taking the burgundy fabric from the line and breathing in the scent of the crisp morning air. It was the closest you could get to your mom’s laundry soap.
“It was Sunday. You surprised me with waffles you made in the cafeteria, you’d spent so many nights figuring out how to use the school kitchen. You were so proud of the smiley face you did on my waffle with the whipped cream.”
“-my momma’s recipe. The waffles and the whipped cream, by the way.” Wally interjected with a grin. It faltered because, while a good memory, it was the last he had shared with you.
“And then I remember learning about Brady.” Your words caused the mood to drop, and the brunette to peer at you as well.
You’d think it was Wally who would have found you and told you that your twin, your soulmate, the other half of the ‘two for one’ joke your parents had used your entire lives crossed over. But it hadn’t been. Instead, it had been Mr. Martin who had shown up on your doorstep.
“I never wanted to keep it from you,” Wally whispered, clenching his fingers on the quilt he ever so carefully placed in the basket.
Tumblr media
The tears marred Wally’s slouched form standing on the field with more distance than ever between your two bodies. Not a second to waste, leaving Mr. Martin to find the one person who had seen Brady last. With the beautiful weather, Wally had taken up residence on the empty football field with art supplies from the art room with one goal in mind.
You and Wally didn’t attend the Homecoming dance in the years together. Not for lack of trying, but the ghosts from the Support Group usually went together. You and Brady would volunteer your talents to decorate with them before bowing out. It wasn’t really your scene. But, out of all his friends, Rhonda had convinced Wally to give it a chance in a promposal-esque event.
You’d stumbled onto him after rather ruthlessly dragging the information out of Janet.
“How could you?” You tearfully asked the jock, limply holding a forgotten brush in his hand. The blue dripping off the bristles matched the streak on his pale cheekbone.
The words were vicious. Dripping with hatred and so much pain, Wally felt horrible. He felt like he was watching his body hit the field back in 1984 all over again, his life falling to pieces in seconds. He struggled to find words to adequately respond to your agony.
“He’s all I had.” You sobbed, curling in on yourself, “You should have told me. Why would you do this to me?”
Wally was out of his limit here with zero relationship experience in his life with the time and energy dedicated to football. Honestly, he’d never had the opportunity, or interest, to woo over a girl or her parents. Then he stumbled into you in the hallway holding that blanket he was done for. And as a ghost, he didn’t have anyone but your brother to win over. And what began as trying to impress Brady turned into a friendship Wally was grateful to have.
“He asked me for time.” Wally quietly spoke, finally releasing the grip on the paintbrush to mar the football like his death had done decades ago.
“I’m his twin, Wally! He’s supposed to trust me! Confide in me.” You pushed his chest when he attempted to step closer.
“I-“
“You took him away. You went behind my back without even considering how I’d feel and did everything in your power to help him cross over.”
Wally’s sadness dissipated enough for anger to drip, “Because of this! He asked my help because you’ve always brushed his concerns off! So sue me, I decided to help my best friend. Just because you’re content to be stuck here doesn’t mean he should have had to be!”
Like a bullet hitting your midsection, pain erupted in your very soul. Wally’s expression dropped, digesting his own words and your reaction.
“Wally, I didn’t get to say goodbye. So why couldn’t you let me say goodbye.”
Wally’s brows came together. How could he let you say goodbye when he hadn’t seen Brady since Wally stumbled out of your bedroom this morning. He couldn’t find him although they had had plans together.
“But I-“
“I don’t care. You’re the reason he’s gone, and to be honest, Wally, I wish he was here instead of you. We’re done.”
The finality of your tone and your back was the last thing he saw that tore him apart. He dropped to his knees with the pleading slipping one by one out his mouth for you to stay.
Tumblr media
“I know that now Wally. It was easier to be mad at you than at Brady for wanting to cross over and leave me.” You whispered, dropping your hands from the quilt on the line to stare at the material that matched Brady’s eyes to a’ t’.
It was going to take a while to properly heal the damage the breakup had done, but baby steps had begun. It was Maddie who put it into play the night of the Homecoming Dance.
Before Maddie left the gym, Charley and Rhonda had each broken down and explained the actual history between Wally and his ex. And Maddie feels doubly guilty for upsetting the tall ghost after agreeing to join him as a friend at the dance. For a hot minute, Maddie had thought Wally was upset because he liked her, but it was because this was the one night he truly let the past go. Wally used to try to convince Brady to attend the dance for a few hours.
“Wally, I’m sorry,” Maddie spoke from her position on the periphery of the concrete, meeting the grass. Her blue eyes sadly looking at the boy listlessly sang along to Joe Jackson’s Steppin’ Out.
Wally kept staring up at the dark sky, going quiet as he listened to her.
“There was a lot happening, and I didn’t want to ruin the night for you. But I should have been honest and told you what was happening.” Maddie nervously brushed her hands on her dress. Her small steps brought her closer to the desolate teenager.
“Maddie, it’s… it’s fine. You don’t have to apologize to me. I’m used to Homecoming sucking for me.” Wally replied, pushing his hands into his pockets. Maddie was already shaking her head.
“That doesn’t mean it’s okay. I kept brushing you off. You and everyone else have been so kind to me, and I’ve treated you poorly tonight.”
Wally nodded his head, “I haven’t been fair either. Can I be honest?”
Maddie’s lips parted into a slight sympathetic grin, “That this entire time you’ve pictured someone else sitting at the table with you? If you weren’t so sickeningly in love with Renai, I would have kissed you.”
The two teens stared at each other, noting how while they’d come as friends, they weren’t even remotely with the right people. Maddie’s blonde eyebrow raised.
“Wally Clark, don’t you have an artist to win back?”
Wally turned on his heel racing off towards the football field set in between the school and the former art studio. Maddie beamed, watching Wally’s getting smaller and smaller until he disappeared around the corner.
In the art studio, you’d opened the windows and climbed onto the roof of the building to settle in to look at the constellations. Then, finally, you could pick out the ones your mother had spent summers introducing you to. A dedicated astronomer, your mom had always liked the stars and mysteries of outer space.
You could faintly hear the music playing in the gym where the Homecoming Dance was in full force. You wondered when the punch got spiked and what teacher looked the other way. If Rhonda wore the dress, you’d surprised her a few years ago. She routinely rotated it into the apparel every couple of years.
“Seen a comet?”
Your eyebrows raised, finding Wally standing in a tuxedo, holding a maroon blanket he gently draped over your form. He’d ditched the dress shoes to climb from the window to the roof and left the jacket with the shoes as well.
“No, just an idiot.” You smirked. His foot nudged your ribs, causing your to flinch off the mattress. Brady and you dragged it up one year for stargazing.
“Do you think we’ll still be around to see Halley’s comet?” Wally asked, shifting to lay down by your side.
“Halley will perihelion in 2061. After that, we have another thirty-eight years before it returns, so who knows if we’ll be here.”
Wally was quiet as he stared at the side of your face, “I hope that somehow and somewhere, you and Brady can see it together.”
“And you.”
Wally tried to keep from visibly reacting, but he couldn’t. Wally wore his emotions on his sleeve for everyone to see.
“And me?”
His only response to his disbelief was the feeling of your pinky linking around his leaving him breathless.
The dark-haired teen had managed to sneakily grasp your hand in his while you’d been stuck in the scene from a week ago. A warmth only he could ignite slowly fanned that made its presence known in the apples of your cheeks.
“He didn’t want to leave you. The last thing he wanted was to leave you. All he ever wanted was for you to be happy.” Wally quickly informed you and gently pushed you away from the clothesline to step in front of you, “He loved you with every part of him. I really truly believe wherever we cross over to, he’s waiting for us.”
“-probably to kick my ass for dumping you.” You winced thinking of the hell Brady would have raised.
“Oh, absolutely.” Wally full-heartedly agreed with that statement. But, to be honest, Brady was the only person in the world who could get you from being so stubborn.
Wally had known since meeting your twin brother that he’d never be your number one. That was and always would be Brady’s place, and it was vice versa. Wally understood and, quite frankly, loved the bond you both had.
“What do you say to a movie marathon?”
“I’d say hell yeah. I’ll raid the library for one.”
Tumblr media
The watch on your wrist ticked down the time to both sundown and the meeting time for your date with Wally. The chainlink fence was cold on your skin, and the lack of noise unsettled you. The popcorn machine had been in a long overdue dusting when the phone had vibrated on the desk. You’d hadn’t time to grab one of the items you kept on hand for Joel.
You couldn’t look at the shadow box containing a specimen for the Civil War soldier without wanting to cry. The things he collected, other than stamps, made your skin crawl.
The red-haired soldier slinked from behind the shadows of the trees to come closer to the fence. His time was perfect when the sun set behind the horizon; he didn’t like being visible in general. You attributed his unease primarily to an adult life spent under the cloak of darkness when he was a soldier. Your Converse slapped against the dry dirt when his lanky form appeared from the back of the tree.
“You said Maddie Nears is dead.” Joel skittishly spoke, slouching down into his body. His anxious eyes refused to stay on you.
 “Well, to the living, they’ve classified it as a disappearance, but she’s dead. Her spirit is tethered to the school.” You responded, turning to look over your shoulder where he was staring at.
For a second, you thought you saw the silhouette of someone on the dark top floor of the school but quickly disregarded that.
“Joel?” You questioned him, “Are you okay?”
Joel’s eyes snapped to firmly meet yours. That cold feeling he always brought slithering around your body. You could see the deep fear in his gaze, so unlike how he usually looked.
“I-I have to go. There are things at play. Vivify.” Joel skittishly stumbled back from the fence, taking the cold ambience with him.
Your mouth dropped open, “Wait! Joel, what does that mean!”
The soldier disappeared back into the thick of the forest, leaving the shadow box in your hands. He hadn’t even looked or questioned the payment for information. He was so stuck on looking at the school.
Your ear tuned in to the whispers coming from in the woods.
“-can’t be trusted.”
“-spirit and body.”
“Do you think this is the end? Is this hell on earth-”
“We’ve waited centuries for- “
“-locked-”
“no, stuck”
The unease of lingering around flared, and you felt the foreboding of something going wrong. The hands on your watch revealed that you’d been on the edge of the woods far longer than you had thought. Your Converse squelched under the dewy grass in your race back to the studio where you hoped Wally was waiting.
No dice. Every room was silent, and the roof was empty.
“Wally?” You shouted, flinging open the back door to a dark abyss.
You knew something was wrong. Deep in your gut, you felt the balance of the two worlds change. And you had a feeling it tied to Maddie Nears and to a particular be-speckled ghost too many people put their trust into.
Fuck the deal. And fuck Mr. Martin too.
“You know the little breadcrumbs you’ve left over the years…well, they’re getting really irksome. I’ve been kind. Let you own a corner of what I’ve spent decades building.”
Your spine stiffened hearing the words of someone you’d have called the devil. You ever so slowly turned to see Mr. Martin standing with his hands in his pockets.
“The beauty of your Civil War soldier is Joel’s…easy to get help from. A little promise to crossover, and he folds easier than the stamps you’d paid him.” Mr. Martin removed his glasses to clean before returning the vintage pair on the bridge of his nose, “Besides, can you ever really trust a Confederate soldier?”
Your feet stumbled back, “What are you doing here, Martin.”
His lips parted in a grin, “It’s what you can do for me and what I will give you in return.”
Your eyes coldly stared him down. Was this the time to play the card you’d hidden for years?
“You know, I always found it morbidly interesting how Split River High School has had two fatal fires. What gets me, however, is how your fire was brushed under the rug and hidden. The scene changed into a bunker and faded from everyone’s memory.”
Mr. Martin tilted his head and attempted to keep a neutral expression, but you saw the minuscule flicker of worry.
You picked ups a ceramic figurine of a phoenix off the corner of your desk, playing the part of nonchalance. You kept a fair distance from the former teacher.
“But when the fire that killed Brady and me happened…the school rebuilt the art building, tried to revive the program and provided a memorial for us. So tell me, Everett…did you mean to kill Janet too?”
You saw Mr. Martin stumble back as you revealed your hand. His eyes blinked furiously.
“Yes, Everett, I know you two died in the same fire, and you’ve tried to play it off as an accident, but we both know the truth. Go ahead. Ask me how I know and why I haven’t told anyone?”
He tilted his head, “Why?”
“I’ve always left weird about Brady’s crossing over. And you sure ain’t slick with your glances with Janet and how you postponed the first meeting after Janet crossed over. So tell me, what really happened to Brady? Because the way Dawn crossed over confirmed that something happened to Brady, and it wasn’t crossing over.”
Mr. Martin had never fled as fast as he did in that moment.

Fallout Shelter
“I wouldn’t bother.”
The voice came out of nowhere, scaring the three ghosts attempting to break through the door. Wally flinched, looking up to the shelving to see a fourth ghost in the room with them.
“Mr. Martin’s good at locking them. He’s made a game out of it for years now.”
Wally’s lips parted, “Brady?”
Brady turned his head to peer at his best friend and your boyfriend.
“Hey, Wally. Long time no see.”

Acts unmasked -3
Ellie's demand and Jazz's appearance.
------
A03 Prev Master
Danny had no idea how to handle this situation. Ellie was already spread out on a bed taking claim of the television in the room. She seemingly didn’t want to talk about any of this.
On top of that, the room just was covered in windows looking into space. Did he first thing figure out how to open the blinds of the windows? Yes. But really. How could he not? It was space.
He should just close them again.
Danny needed to explain to Ellie what was going on. The cover story and everything she needed to know. He couldn’t have her call him phantom and she definitely had to be told she was princess. Why did he put her? That was just messed up. Telling random people on the off chance they may help. He’s lucky it didn’t seemingly make matters work. He just had to break it to her.
Where was Jazz??
She could handle this way better than him. She’d know how to break this news. Danny was an awful choice in that regard. Obviously, he just rushed into things. He would just not say anything. Not until jazz was here.
“Danny? What are you hiding? You have that look in your eyes and are pacing” Ellie questioned.
“Nothing” the raised eyebrow only confirmed he spoke too quickly.
“What are you hiding,” she asked while leaving behind the bed and clicking off the remote.
“It’s not important.”
“Then tell me.”
“Did you know astronauts in space age 0.007 seconds slower than people on Earth for every half hour they spend in space... I’m pretty sure that applies to us as well.”
“Danny”
He just had to steer her away. “What about the fact there are more trees on Earth than stars in the sky”
“Dannnnyy”
Maybe Tucked was right, space facts don’t distract. Bits and pieces. That’s what he’ll give. He just doesn’t have to mention the princess part of the being sold part. “I’m just stressed. I told them I was the ambassador. I don’t even know what those do. Now I don’t know what’s going to happen here. We can’t let them know I’m king. What if they use that against us? Please don’t tell them”
“Why”
“I may have insinuated… that the realm was ready to destroy this universe. Which I mean it is. But like. They don’t need to know who exactly the king is….” Perfect cover!!
“Hmmmm. That’s really all??” asked with uncertainty.
“Totally. It’s not like you were sold to the government or anything. That would be utterly ridiculous.” Why did that come out of his mouth?
“They did wWHAT?!?” Ectoplasm inching its way out.
Heck. No. This wasn’t good. Her reserves couldn’t handle any dump.
“I… ummm. Did say. It’s not like…” his defense well he didn't have one.
“You’re an awful liar. We all know this.” Her face hardened “They aren’t getting away with this”
He knew that look. It’s the same one she had right before the attack on the box ghost. No no no no. He had to stop this before she could do anything.
“I already did. The acts get revoked, Jack and Maddie punished, and the guys in white punished” he really hoped she reacted well to the last tad bit “and. Well. Jazz is going to be your guardian.”
He was just going to explain that part. Hopefully, that will work and give her other things to think about.
“you need a guardian and actual identification. We can make them do all that for us. No risking Tucker going to jail for making a fake identity. Jazz and I have always wanted you to actually stay with us. That’s why the apartment is two bedrooms. Jazz was always gonna stay on campus.”
It’s at least calming her tone somewhat. Ellie has always been hard to read.
“My travels I’m no-“
“No. I won’t stop you. But maybe it can be a group thing. On the weekends or something. No more traveling around all alone.”
“Promise me. No more hidden plans, be straight with me”
Danny hesitated at that. He really didn’t want to promise that, not when he is still keeping secrets from her. He had gotten this far without causing his little sister to go on a rampage. Maybe he should just be straight with her.
With a sigh, he decided to take Jazz’s advice late.
“There’s one more thing. I should have told you a long time ago. Back when the transfer happened…. That procedure made you a member of the royal family. It made you” his gut was twisting at the Addison. “Well.. it um.. it made you the princceeesss…”
“It what”
Oh no. That was anger.
“You expect me to just accept that. Just to go oh alright. Why wasn’t I TOLD. Why want I warned? And YOU expect me to keep your secret. If the so-called ambassador can make a demand. I’m sure the actual apparent PRINces can.”
With that, she phased out the door. Danny rushed after her.
“ELLIE stop!!”
He was running in a thing called the watchtower. In space. With the view apparent, already losing sight of Ellie. She had the advantage and was using her powers. Which also was harmful to her. It would make her recovery time even worse.
He should have expected someone to stop him. This was an apparent superhero thing in space. But running gave first onto the green-skinned man. That wasn’t on his bingo list.
“My apologies, I was not expecting you to round the corner so fast. My name is Martian Manhunter. I’ve come to be of assistant”
“No. I just have to find her; she she ran off. I can’t find her. This place is too big. I don’t know what to do”?
“She’s made herself known in the conference room. I’d be more than happy to escort you there.”
His heart was pounding and his mind was racing. What was Ellie going to do? He had carefully on the spot figured out his. All things the council had brought up in those awful meetings. What chaos would she unleash?
So instead of speaking anymore. He just nodded and let himself be led on. This guy wasn’t human, Danny just felt like he could trust him.
By the time they were in the conference room. Ellie had transformed.
She transformed.
Out of all the things she could do. Did she not feel how depleted her reserves were?
No the worst thing she was doing. Was turning her head and smirking right at him.
“I’ll tell you my demand.” He could feel the tension. Hell. He didn’t even know what she wanted. “For me not to tattle to the” her smirk getting larger and looking straight at him “ghost king. I demand a puppy”
“Danielle phantom don-“
“Where did the last name phantom come from” stressing the next word “Daniel.”
“Danielle. You can’t just run off like that. Not just decide to make a demand. What if the apartment doesn’t allow pets? Does Jazz even want a puppy?”
“It’s a puppy or I tell the king everything. Even about the missile”
Danny had only mentioned that about a month ago at the last meet-up. The story about the GIW and the anti-ecto missile. How they barely stopped it. That he had to convince Skulker and Johnny not to eat them out to the council. No way they’d ignore the missile being launched even if it hadn’t hit.
“You can’t just blackmail yourself a puppy.”
“And you apparently can’t have a conversation about the consequences of a certain procedure. Can you mister Ambassador” At least she’s playing that part along? He could do without the questions this was arising.
This really needed to be done in a room without the eyes. He swears some of these people actually seemed amused at this.
“Neither of us asked for our positions in the court. Can we please have a private conversation about this”
“And we can talk about how you blew up the portal back in amity.” Now she was just trying to get their attention on him.
“Everyone knows not to be around the lab. The great hot dog revolution scared them all away. Blowing up the portal was our best bet. I couldn’t trust my wack job donors with it”
“And let’s not forget about your government lab break-ins. How many of those have you led.”
“Danielle. Please stop. Let’s not sit out my dirty laundry for everyone to see.”
“It’s only fair. You outed me as a princess” Her eyes were glowing, and she was floating even higher.
“I panicked. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want this position. But no, the realm choose me. We were in a bad situation. The only hope was those three on the roof. Two of them death touched. All I could do was try and attract their attention. What better way than to subtle threaten”?
“Then I get to demand a puppy I’ll claim I panicked as a reason.”
He felt it before the signs became apparent. She was maybe only floating a foot or two above the table. But her little to no signature dropped.
Trench coat man could definitely tell something was up. The way his eyes zoned into her.
Danny didn’t hesitate. Jumping on the table to grab Ellie as she de-transformed catching her as she passed out.
Well.
All eyes were on him.
“Umm. You guys. Can we like continue or something? Or we’ll. I’m sure there is something you want to ask. I can probably maybe possibly answer. Ummm. But like she’s out”
“Is the universe actually being threatened?” one of the green ones asked. He had a mask on. But there were two of these people.
“I mean yea. Like. You guys opened a portal into the realm, inviting criminals and stuff to the mortal plane. The portal opened in a bad spot. It’s not their fault humans are squishy. Ellie was strapped down to a table. Plus like the realm already didn’t like you guys. Something about stolen pools of ectoplasm and apparently previous summons. The whole mind-control rock thing I destroyed. That also didn’t help your guys case.”
“You do realize I have to report this to oa” he spoke again. Clearly not directed at him. Seeing as he looked everywhere but the middle of the conference table he was sitting on.
“Who exactly is that? Too many people already know about the realm. Mortals really aren’t meant to know we exist.”
“They are the heads of the lantern cr-”
“That means nothing to me. Let’s assume I know nothing and no one. I didn’t even know this league existed up until like what 4ish hours ago.”
He really didn’t need these looks right now.
“I didn’t choose to be born to mad scientists who sold my sister to the government to be experimented on. Don’t blame me for not being allowed to watch the news. Who are you to try to get tied up in this mess”?
The way they were looking at him was just complete shock. Who knew the news mattered so much to people?
“Essentially intergalactic cops”
“Yea no”
“It’s bad enough you lot know about the realms. I don’t want cops involved. The less the better. Humans are nosy enough. We don’t need other species aware of us.
The gods of this realm, members of the afterlife, and the extreme occultists know of our existence. Do you know how many times people have attempted to summon the master of time?
One was too much. This realm is already nosy don’t make it even nosier.
If they show up here, I’m out. Good luck with the council on your own. They’re more destructive and deader than me. If you absolutely have to tell them. I don t want to know. No cops around me or my sisters.
And in case anyone forgot. I am the one who unfortunately helps decides this universe's fate.”
It was so silent I’m the room you could hear a pin drop. Or in this case the mumbling of the trench coat man “Bloody hell there are three of them” grabbed his attention.
The door opened to reveal Black Bat and most importantly it was Jazz.
***
“Danny. Are you guys, okay?”
Danny didn’t verbally answer her. Looking over at him she wasn’t surprised. He looked exhausted and was desperately avoiding the open windows. His obsession must have kicked in.
She was even more concerned with the fact Ellie was passed out on top of him. Breathing far less than how she normally did. Given her need to breathe was more or less not needed it wasn’t too concerning, just showed how she wasn’t hiding her out non-human nature.
Black bat had informed her of the princess status being revealed, jazz certainly hoped that wasn’t the reason for them being active. She shouldn’t have spent all that time in pandoras haunt discussing ways to find Danny and Ellie. They all feared the worst when the explosion occurred, and they were met with radio silence.
Jazz had pandoras personal summons. Rather than discuss in her cramped dorm she had gone with Pandora.
Only to return after Frostbite came to tell her he was in Gotham to find a vigilante in her dorm room.
Black Bat also mentioned Danny claimed to be an ambassador. Jazz had the feeling that she knew he lied and was telling her to keep it up.
“Why are you sitting on a table with Ellie passed out on you?”
“She overused her reserves.”
“Let’s get the two of you out of here. They have a room from what I understand of the situation.”
“Yes, they do” the Martian manhunter replied “I’d be happy to assist you three.”
Jazz looked over at him. Tilting her head just a smudge. Danny shook his head no; the alien was not a ghost in disguise. She tiled it the other way. Danny nodded yes. He did actually trust him enough that he wouldn’t kill them off the bat.
She was aware they all knew they had a secret conversation. She also didn’t care. Her priority was getting these two safe and sound.
“No. You can help those two to the room. I’m sure black bat would be willing to take me in a second. My siblings are clearly exhausted, and I have a few things that need to be said.”
As her little siblings left. The tension grew as she turned away from the door and towards the crowd of supposed heroes. She didn’t give any of them a chance to speak.
“Let me make one thing straight. I don’t care who you are or what power you have. Danny may control your fate with the realm. But you mess with him, and you deal with me, and I will go straight to Pandora.
She can convince the king otherwise. He trusts her judgment.
Neither Danny nor Ellie accepted their position. Both were tricked or forced into them.
Danny does his best.
Imagine being thrown into a world where he makes new allies, and some enemies then has to keep a race that thrives of destruction. Have no concept of death anymore and are way stronger than humans. He keeps them from destroying amity.
Then he had to stop the guys in white and the nutjobs that gave birth to us from killing and dissecting these beings.
I know he gave you, his demands. Frostbite is aware as well” aware Danny was going to give some. Not that they needed that information. “Just do what Danny wants. He doesn’t need to be involved anymore; you know what needs to happen. Just do it. Don’t get others involved and they’ll be no problems. Danny may not want his position.”
Time to seal the deal.
“But he is one hell of an ambassador.”
With that, she followed black bat to her siblings.

I'm laughing at how jealous and possessive Eddie is when it comes to Buck. When Buck and Taylor first start flirting Eddie cuts in without remorse or subtly, the anger at Buck making that reckless promise to Abby to get her fiance back regardless of the danger to his personal safety, his hurt at Buck already forming a team with Taylor for the treasure hunt, and then my personal favorite, his passive aggressiveness during the dinner episode.
I can't recall any other moments, but I am cackling at Eddie. At this point, he should just tattoo his name on Buck's ass and be done with it. 😂
Eddie being a possessive and jealous little shit when it comes to Buck is by far one of my favorite things about him. He literally met Buck and got to know him and within days, he was like “that tall blonde is mine”. There are so many cute and funny moments where Eddie’s jealousy really shows!!!
Eddie interrupting Taylor and Buck trying to flirt in 2.06. The way he strutted towards them with his hands on his hips & his little eyebrow raise. As if he’s looking at Buck all, “What do you think you’re doing?!” He wanted Taylor to know to back off bc that one is taken.
Tumblr media
How about when Eddie found out Buck had slept with his therapist in 3.09 and his immediate reaction to that was jealousy. He’s all, “You slept with your therapist?!?” All eyebrow raised and annoyed bc how dare Buck sleep with anyone other than him?!? I love his sassy response so much 😂
Tumblr media
Before we even get into the whole Abby of it all in 3.18, let’s not forget in 3.17 when they’re in the truck talking about hot air balloons. And Buck was all giving facts he knew bc of Abby and Eddie’s all “Maddie tell ya that?” With an eyebrow raise. The man knew Buck was most probably talking about Abby and Buck was so quick to change the subject after that bc he lowkey knows how Eddie can be about the Abby subject.
Tumblr media
Then the entire Abby of it all in 3.18. That man’s jealousy was radiating off of him. Since the moment he realized who she was, he couldn’t keep it out of his eyes. My favorite part is when he spit out her name in the train and tried to get away from Buck, IN A VERTICAL TRAIN 😂
Tumblr media
The crossover episode where Eddie was clearly jealous and bothered by Buck staring at Marjan. His entire body language was closed off with his arms folded and his little attitude when he tells Buck, “You’re staring.” Not only that but his little punch to Buck’s shoulder before he walks off was nothing other than jealousy in my opinion.
Tumblr media
Then before he was blatantly jealous about Buck working with Taylor, let’s not forget his petty “Your girlfriend” comment he made to Buck beforehand. And then his little, yeah sure, facial expression.
Tumblr media
Then the man used his pretty face and sad eyes to convince Buck to work with him too on the treasure hunt. My favorite was the whole “Go team” moment. He really did so much research to impress Buck with his little facts and Buck’s attention was on Taylor instead 🥲
Tumblr media
And of course season 5 where we have the lovely dinner at the Diaz household where Eddie literally looks like he poisoned Taylor’s dinner and is waiting for her to drop dead. Meanwhile the meal he cooked his husband was being completely devoured by him. Eddie dead ass was thinking, “Why is she in my house?!?” Look at his face man that clearly shows how much he dislikes her lol.
Tumblr media
Finally, my favorite part is in 5.14, where they’re at the equestrian place and Buck explains to Eddie how he found the place. Buck was all, “I was doing some research with Taylor.” And Eddie rolled his eyes and was all, “What kinda research 🤨?” Even though Eddie was literally the worst he’s ever been mentally, he still can’t help but be jealous at the mere mention of Taylor. His mind probably jumped to a horrible conclusion and he couldn’t hide his jealousy and disdain for that idea. Like how dare Buck mention her name while they’re having a lovely family outing?!? Oh Eddie 😂🥰🥰🥰
Tumblr media
In conclusion, Eddie Diaz is in love with Evan Buckley and he really should just put a ring on it already 🫶🏻

The Buckley parents were on their best behavior in 6x10 for a reason
In 6x10 “In a Flash”, Chimney was right when he told Buck, “Your parents were on their best behavior. I don’t know why but that’s something new for me to worry about”. He was right to be worried because they do in fact want something and it all started in 4x4 “9-1-1 What’s Your Grievance?”
In 4x4, after Maddie opened the door to greet her parents, she saw all the gifts they brought and she told them they shouldn’t have but Philip responded, “We’re grandparents now, spoiling comes with the job.”  But when Buck walked over to greet them, both of their demeanors changed and it was awkward for a reason. Margaret doesn’t like her son Evan since he couldn’t save Daniel, the son she wanted and planned for.  Her disgust for him was evident when she asked him about the way he still allows people to call him Buck. When he replied, “It’s just a nickname, Mom”, she responded like she was exasperated by him, not the nickname.
In 6x10, when they arrived at Chimney and Maddie’s new house, Buck said all they talked about was the weather when he picked them up and that’s all they talked about during their first dinner in 4x4 before it went sideways.
Tumblr media
Please notice the way Buck was standing in the shadow on the far right while the rest of the biologically related Buckley family members, i.e., Margaret, Philip, Jee-Yun and Maddie were all out front in the light.  It demonstrates how they still PREFER their daughter over their son.  But also notice the way Maddie was in front of Buck which could be due to the fact that she still takes care of him way better than their parents ever did or could.
Tumblr media
When Margaret saw the sonogram on Buck’s phone, her facial expression was panicked and it illustrated how she really felt about the possibility of Buck having a child of his own, even though her mouth said something completely different when she realized everyone was listening to their conversation. Her demeanor changed from panic to happiness when she assumed it was Maddie’s and Chimney’s sonogram and then she called Buck an uncle.
After all these years and the two therapy sessions, Buck mentioned they planned to have with him in 4x6 “Jinx”, they still don’t know him at all and they STILL DON’T CARE ABOUT him either.  They haven’t changed one bit, they’re still selfish and only out to get what they want.
The reason why they’re on their best behavior is because now that they’re GRANDPARENTS, Maddie has the power to cut them off from seeing the only grandchild they have and they don’t want to mess that up.
Reminder, Maddie raised Buck and he told her in 5x15 “FOMO” Jee-Yun wasn’t the first kid she raised, he was.  They’re trying to stay in Maddie’s good graces because she can stop them from seeing her and Chimney’s child.
If the scenes with Maddie and her parents felt off, the next paragraph could possibly explain the reason why.
It was strange but every time the Buckleys and the Hans discussed something major during their two meals, i.e., when the Buckleys first arrived and the pre-dinner discussion about the sperm donation, Maddie left the room so she could check on Jee-Yun which prevented her from being able to participate in the conversation. Furthermore, Maddie still hasn’t mentioned anything about Buck’s sperm donation.
Based solely on the way they were acting; it appears the Buckley parents gave Maddie and Chimney the money for the down payment on their house because they want access to Jee-Yun.  It was their way of buying them off so they could see their grandchild.
This is SPECULATION! Based on the way the Buckley parents were acting in 6x10, it’s possible Margaret and Philip are hiding something about Buck’s conception because Margaret wasn’t happy when she saw the sonogram and she still wasn’t happy about Buck having a biological child and the looks on their faces told the story.  When Buck said Connor asked him to be a sperm donor, Philip reluctantly said, “And you said yes?”, then Margaret asked, “And you’re the father?”  It appears they know something about Buck’s conception with regards to Daniel that he STILL doesn’t know about and Maddie doesn’t know either.  Also, Philip IS STILL TAKING HIS CLUES FROM MARGARET on how to react and respond to Evan/Buck.
To add more credence to this speculation claim, before her parents arrived, Maddie told Chimney, “It’s not like anybody’s going to drop any deep dark family secrets this time” and he responded, “Not that we know of.  In this family, there’s always an explosion”.  Their comments could be foreshadowing along with the comment Buck made while he and Chimney were cleaning the firetrucks. He said, “You know, I gotta say, I’m just glad it’s not the Buckley Family bringing the drama this time”.
This could be the reason why Buck didn’t mention Daniel’s Juvenile Leukemia to Connor and Kameron when he agreed to be their sperm donor.  It seems like this could possibly come full circle later in 6B.
Buck knows his parents are full of BS because he told Bobby and Eddie while they were in the firetruck, his parents thought him being a sperm donor was an idiotic decision.
Only two more days until 6x11 “In Another Life” airs and hopefully Buck will not redeem his parents because they DON’T DESERVE IT.
Video: Scenes from 4x4 “9-1-1 What’s Your Grievance?” and 6x10 “In a Flash”.

I’m so on the fence about being a Coma!Buck Truther. I agreed with a lot of the things you mentioned around doubts that that’s where the writers are going (particularly the fact that it doesn’t seem to be 911 OG’s style to do a full on coma dream). But the one thread of bts/spoilers that sort of pulls me to the coma!buck side is the ep title “in another life” paired with the BTS (pics/vids?) we saw of Oliver in that very Not Buck outfit. That’s the thing that —to me— is giving the most credence to the Coma!Buck theory, bc I can’t figure another way around that piece that doesn’t indicate someone is dreaming about a “what if” life.
Here, I’ll give you an explanation that makes it work without coma!Buck really easily:
That outfit? Screams “trying too hard.” I would not remotely be surprised to see Buck wear that with his parents, especially if they’re in a weird space with their relationship (likely not only because their relationship is strained and weird to begin with and we know the writers are throwing the sperm donor thing into the mix and that we’re going to find out how the Buckleys feel about it). It’s an outfit that strikes us as wrong and uncomfortable and not!Buck, but that makes perfect sense as reflective of Buck’s emotional state regarding the sperm donation arc and with respect to the complexity of Buck’s relationship with his parents and the way he does in many ways become someone else around them.
“In another life” doesn’t have to be about Buck dreaming about a fantasy life. We can already guess at the underlying theme: in another life, Daniel would have lived, in another life, Buck’s parents would have loved him the way he deserved, in another life, he wouldn’t have ended up the way he is, mired in abandonment trauma stemming from their neglect to the point where he feels like self-harm is the way to get attention and affection, in another life, he would have been a person instead of a collection of parts. Buck dreaming about what that life looks like does nothing—not for him and not for the audience. Instead, arguably the more effective and powerful execution of digging into that is by showing Buck’s reality—because we don’t actually know what their relationship looks like now, post-Love Me Anyway and Buck Begins. And what role does the sperm donation have to play? Will the fact that Buck has maybe been able to give another couple a child when he wasn’t enough to save the child his parents loved most be a positive thing in their eyes? Will it change things between them all for the better? (Or, more to the point—to what extent, even subconsciously, is Buck doing this because he THINKS it might do just that, and might finally get him the love and respect etc they withheld from him for so long?)
The writers have already raised this concept of fantasy vs reality, and even more specifically, the idea of fantasies not measuring up to reality (especially with regard to Buck). “In another life” everything could have been different for him and his childhood and his family—we know that. But there’s an uncomfortable reality that honestly no matter how his parents react to the sperm donor situation (or anything else he might do with his life)—positive or negative—Buck’s never going to be able to have that life, he can’t turn back the clock and magically erase the trauma of his childhood, the damage that his parents did to both him and Maddie. That fantasy isn’t achievable. If there is one thing Buck needs to realize it’s that there is absolutely nothing that is going to “fix him” other than him sitting down and actually doing the messy, painful, ugly work of healing. There is no “other” life—there is the one he has, and accepting that is the first step in his true recovery.

been thinking abt it for a while but what do you think arguments between the two siblings would be like post Shallow Lake/Docu series?
Arguments are natural, especially between siblings, especially with how close in age they are. I think they were pretty common, once they both hit puberty and had all these extra hormones and the natural need to be more and more independent.
This definitely gets intensified by the fact that they were already independent, with Jet mentioning that their parents were never home and that they raised themselves.
That said, coming off of such a massive wound in the relationship is going to be hard, for both of them. They're better now, but the scars are still there. Jet didn't mean to, but Maddie still got hurt. Maddox tried to give him space, but he still felt rejected.
I think over all they have fewer arguments than they did before. For a couple reasons, one being that they are in a new environment this year, and it's sort of them against the world in a much more tangible way than ever before, but also they're in a healthier place mentally for them, they have support and people they can talk to, both of them are without any 'usual haunts' that they would normally escape and hide to, so they have to talk things out more, they have to bridge the gap.
Arguments now generally fall under two categories, both of which will immediately end hostility and make them talk things over.
1: the argument is small or petty, and no one's really all that mad. They realize how much they sound like when they were younger and they start teasing each other for it. Wrestling matches in the living room or the rehearsal room are common during these. They are impressively even matched.
2: the serious argument continues for maybe a day, before they realize it feels like losing each other again, or that they sound like their parents, or even that they walk away to cool down and recognize in themselves that they hadn't planned to come back. These are all behaviors in themselves and each other that they see and understand and hate. It's almost a scramble to find a place to be with each other to work through these ones. They have to be alone for these ones, in the apartment, or out in the woods, or somewhere else, just away from watchers. They love the Wildcats, they really do, but these aren't for them to see or hear.

Who's going to tell Simon that it was August who filmed the video?
The people that know are:
August
Kristina
Felice
Wilhelm
Sara
Maddie
Working from the bottom up, we have Maddie first. Since she was witnessing Felice's investigation, she is likely in the loop about who leaked the video. She and Simon have been friendly toward each other in the past, so it's possible. But story-wise, I feel it would be the tamest option, without any direct fallout.
Next, Sara. His own sister. If she were to tell him, I think it would just cause a row between them, since it would raise the question of, why did she wait to tell him? and put a limelight on her fling? relationship? with August. Story-wise, I think this is a plausible and dramatic option. Though I can also imagine Simon finding out from someone else, telling Sara, and then finding out she'd already known.
Next, Wilhelm. A plausible and dramatic option, again, but it would still cause tension because Wilhelm didn't tell Simon straight away. But then again; if Wilhelm were to tell him immediately after the Christmas holidays, I don't think the fallout would be too severe, because Wilhelm had to digest the revelation before sharing it with Simon. I think Simon would be annoyed regardless, but I would still sympathise with Wilhelm and understand his reasoning.
Then, Felice. A plausible but tame option, I would say. She was the one to tell Wilhelm, so why not tell Simon too? But they've never spoken, never had any interaction. In fact, as @zee-has-commitment-issues pointed out in one of their posts, Simon has reason to actively dislike Felice - she dated August, she represents everything that Sara is forsaking her family for. I say "tame" because there would be no direct conflict between them, but it could definitely lead to Simon confronting Wilhelm, since Felice could mention that he already knows, or Simon could take it upon himself to tell Wilhelm.
Next, Kristina. Considering that she didn't even tell her own son, this is a laughable option. If it does happen in S2 then I'll chug a litre of milk.
And finally, August. It doesn't sound plausible, I know, but god imagine the poetic justice a confession would hold. We've seen from the season 2 trailer that August is wracked with guilt about what he did, so I think it's possible that he would tell Simon himself in an attempt to ease his guilt. This is probably my favourite option, so I really hope that Simon finds out from August.

Buddie 513 meta
Tumblr media
As if 512 (among other eps) didn’t make the Madney and Buddie parallels obvious enough, then this ep really drove the point home. For example, just like Albert calls Maddie because she’s Chim’s partner and those two are raising Jee Yun together, so we also get Christopher calling Buck, because that’s Eddie’s partner and his co-parent in raising Chris. They’re a family, your honor! (as demonstrated in this gifset) We discover in this ep that Madney have broken up, mentioning the distance between them for all these months. Except we see in this ep that even when romantically apart, they still hover around each other, and their most significant, intimate moments are shared with one another. Does that remind you of other partners we know?
Tumblr media
But that’s not just a comparison in general terms. The ep’s very structure regarding Buddie also reflects that exact narrative progression: throughout most of it, Buck and Eddie are apart, dealing with their own issues. And yet the most important moment they each have during the ep is the one they share at the end of it. In fact for Buddie, it’s the very climax of the ep (as I mentioned in the same gifset), that pivotal moment, the one that holds the greatest emotional importance in the ep, it’s reserved for these two men and their family, their relationship, the trust and closeness that they have developed which allows them to reach a breakthrough at the very end of the ep. ~~~
Tumblr media
If that wasn’t enough, the ep did provide us with foreshadowing for this. For example, when Maddie shows up and we see her getting updates from Buck, the very first thing she hears from him is that Eddie has quit the 118. After that, she also hears an update on Taylor. Even just having Buck mentioning these two people together would have shown that Eddie is no less emotionally important to him than his actual gf... But then Buck actually mentioned Eddie first. I’m at a loss for words. Another hint is the scene with Frank telling Eddie that he needs to talk to someone who understands his trauma, which then transitions into a scene with Buck. And in case it wasn’t evident enough, Frank also mentioned to Eddie “anyone else around you” and this ep made it very clear that while Eddie referred to the whole team as his chosen family back in 311, the people he actually surrounds himself with in his daily life, the ones so close he might unintentionally drag down with him, are Chris and Buck.
Tumblr media
Lastly, we get Eddie listening on the radio to Pauline speaking, and he clearly identifies with her (just think about how she says she feels empty, much like Eddie mentions to Frank in 309 that there are moments which he knows should fill him with joy, but they don’t), then who pulls her off the ledge, before she’ll self-destruct completely? Buck does. Just like he’s going to do for Eddie before the end of the ep. ~~~
Tumblr media
On the job, Buck and Lucy started off getting in each other’s way, which although the context is very different, made me think their “chemistry” is more like Eddie and Hen getting in each other's way in 505 than like Buck and Eddie always working seamlessly together, even before they became proper friends. I’m just saying, this can’t hold a candle to our battlefield boyfriends. I can’t wait until Buddie are officially back to that! ~~~
Tumblr media
With Buck and Taylor, this ep demonstrated, even before bringing the kiss into the mix, that these two don’t belong together romantically. Taylor moves in and doesn’t communicate with Buck at all about what to bring and what to do when they have potential clashes (like two couches), instead she simply overrides Buck. That is not what a good partnership looks like. Then, it takes Maddie no time to figure out that there’s something wrong with this moving in together, but Taylor, who actually lives with Buck, can’t tell something’s up, showing very low levels of communication and familiarity (just think in comparison of how well Buddie know each other, for example Buck realizing within two seconds that Eddie isn’t okay during their dinner in 511).
I was proud of Buck for finally being honest (and clearly, he needed one of his loved ones to return to him so he’d have the strength to overcome his abandonment issues to do that). And not just about the kiss, I think it was really important that he didn’t stubbornly insist the moving in suggestion was detached from those issues. Taylor was fully within her rights to be upset with him. At the same time, after thinking about it, I have to say she was also a bit unfair to him. She’s in the same city she has lived in for years, it’s not like he uprooted her to move in together in a place where she has no one other than him, so it would stand to reason that she has friends she can stay with. She also has enough money to afford a hotel room for a couple of nights if she has no friends, even to buy extra clothes if she doesn’t feel like returning to the loft to get some. It’s not great, but it’s a possibility. So while I think she has every right to be upset, her being unfair still ended up feeling like another time when she was right, but still took things one step too far for me by putting too much blame on Buck, meaning when she told him off after the double date in 408. And then this arc concludes for this ep with the “no more lies” line, which is TV code reminding us there is still a lie hanging over a couple and that it WILL come out and they WILL break up. I just continue to hope 911 handles it in a way that allows Buck to grow. At least in terms of how he coped with most of the romantic entanglement in this ep, it does feel like his approach was more mature than it might have been in the past. ~~~
(The rest under a cut. Thank you so much for reading! Huge thank you to the incredible @judsonryder and @whosoldherout for the gorgeous gifs!)
Tumblr media
I have said this before, more than once, but somehow Buck and Eddie’s romantic trajectory always seems to be so similar, and this ep continues that theme. They both felt in s5 that they “owed” their respective girlfriends to stay with them. At the beginning of 5a, we got to hear Eddie verbalize what’s off about his relationship with Ana, and now Buck had the same thing with Taylor. It still took Eddie a moment to find his footing and break up with Ana for his own sake, and in this ep we saw Buck in the same place, having the required insight to end things, but not yet taking the naturally following action of breaking up with Taylor for his own good. ~~~
I wanna say something about Eddie hearing in therapy that a part of the issue is how he’s so busy looking after everyone else and helping them that he’s neglecting himself. This has been a recurring theme with Eddie since 210, when he wondered aloud to Buck whether he’s with Shannon because of him or for Christopher’s sake, and it was of course magnified when every time Eddie mentioned how he was taught not to consider his own pain (301) or that he was only going to therapy for his son (309) or sticking it out with Ana because she’d be the perfect mom to Chris (502). And then Frank, in this ep, doesn’t actually manage to break through to Eddie about the importance of not ignoring his feelings without bringing up how his current course might actually end up hurting those he loves. So basically, Frank gets Eddie to understand he HAS to take care of himself by using that same sense of care and responsibility for others that’s been burdening Eddie all along, and if that doesn’t break your heart, IDK what will. Oh yeah, I do. “They’re all dead.” OMG, that was so much, and I just need someone to tell Eddie that the good we bring into this world matters even when we think it doesn’t. That his sacrifice and trauma make a difference and his heroism matters. That the extra years that those people got thanks to Eddie? They matter. The moments of joy they experienced during that time? Matter. The good that they might have been responsible for during these years? Matters. The joy and gratitude of those people’s families and friends for that duration? Matter. Someone please hug that man and tell him that HE IS ENOUGH. (*cough* Buck! *cough*) ~~~
Tumblr media
Hey, remember when we, collectively as a fandom, found out in 301 that Eddie had a key to Buck’s place? It was implied that they had exchanged keys much like Hen and Bobby had back in s1, because that’s what firefighters do, in case anything happened to them. Still, I pointed out here that the reason 911 gives for why the platonic Hen & Bobby exchanged keys doesn’t actually work for Buddie in 301, because at the time, Buck had quit the team. He wasn’t a firefighter or in danger. Now we have confirmation that months after Eddie has left active firefighting, specifically to avoid danger, Buck still has a key to his house... No, they really went all out on showing the parallels even in the smallest of details between Buck’s arc in s3 and Eddie’s in s5, as well as just highlighting for us again just how bonded these two are. ~~~
I’m not sure I fully have a way to talk about the end scene of the ep, with Eddie breaking down in front of Buck and them talking after that. I just love everything about it. It means so much in terms of Eddie’s story (the way we see this man who’s kept all his pain to himself naked of all his defenses) as well as Buck’s ('coz this is the one place where he KNOWS he’s needed and wanted and will never be abandoned, which stands out even more in contrast with his failing r/s with Taylor, and it’s a continuation of the natural way he has ALWAYS stepped in, since 204 at the latest, into Eddie’s mess with him, as opposed to the way he had to be talked into it with Abby, never got to that point with Ali, and was partly driven to do this out of his own insecurities with Taylor). BUT. A part of why I’m not sure any one meta post can ever cover everything about this scene is because it’s not just about these men separately, it’s also the culmination of 4 seasons in which we have seen Buddifer really becoming an intertwined family, so this scene feels like a kaleidoscope: the number of colors and reflections seems endless, and as you turn it a little, you discover a whole new image, 100% as real and valid as the last one.
Tumblr media
Just think about this example of the endless reflections we have in that scene: Buck answering Christopher’s phone call with the biggest smile reminded me of his smile as the two of them teased Eddie together in 403, and of course it also reflected 408, the first time we saw Chris canonically go to Buck when he was distressed over trouble with his dad, while back then, it was Eddie’s turn to talk on the phone to Buck and be reassured that even if in that moment it doesn’t seem that way, they WILL be okay. Which is in itself another row of parallels, as we consider all of the times these three have asked each other whether they’re okay or promised one another that they will be... this one gets so long, I fear it will get too much to gif in this post.
Tumblr media
Or another one would be showing how Buck is and always has been Eddie’s person to go to, to talk to, to confide in, just like we saw Eddie opening up in 210 about Shannon, or how we saw him struggling in therapy in 309, but talking to Buck and spending the evening with him was “[his] kind of therapy” or 312 when it’s Buck’s advice that helps Eddie in his biggest challenge with his son at that point... and in 513 we literally have Frank and Buck asking him the same question during this ep, “What are you afraid of?” But it’s not the professional, competent therapist who gets Eddie to spill. Buck was and continues to be the one person Eddie truly opens up to. Honestly, this is going to be one of those moments on the show that we are going to return to endlessly, much like the tsunami arc, the kitchen scene or the guardianship reveal, because it’s not just the depth and intensity of their experience together that’s so meaningful here, it’s also the way it’s so naturally a part of this family’s journey together. And the best part? Their journey isn’t over yet and we get to keep enjoying it.
~~~ These posts take a lot of work from multiple people, so thank you for every reblog, for every time you share the link to the post, for all support! xoxox
a/n: i know it took awhile, but i hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
good god, you're coming up with reasons. good god, you're dragging it out.
“this is so fucking tight.” you said trying to suck in as much air as you could. Maddy was trying to force you into a corset that matched hers and the truth was your body wasn’t going to be able to take it.
“i would say shut up, but i’m tired.” Maddy said letting the strings go. sucking in air you watched Maddy go to sit on her bed.
she flipped her hair then rubbed her hands together. looking up at you she smiled.
“you look pretty.” she commented. although you two wouldn’t be wearing matching tops you would still have the same color scheme.
“thank you gorgeous.” you said before turning and grabbing your light blue ringer top and the matching arm sleeves.
school started soon and with how long it took Maddy to try and shove you in the one size to small corset? you’d be late if you two didn’t leave soon.
“come on.” you mumbled walking to the door while fixing your ring Elliot gave you. the same Elliot Maddy hadn’t stopped complaining about since the night you two met.
Maddy hopped up and followed you to your car before you two went on your way.
“you don’t think it’s a bit early for a ring?” Maddy asked after flicking her eyes over to the ring that shined brightly on your finger in the early morning light.
glancing at it before looking back at the road you shook your head.
“it’s just a ring. a present with no meaning behind it really. he just saw it and thought of me so don’t worry, i’m not getting married.” you laughed.
“god i hope not.” Maddy whispered to herself.
Tumblr media
“he’s so fucking weird you know?” Maddy mumbled to you as you two walked to your lockers. your keys and the mini plushies attached jingled in your hand as you struggled to find your notebook in your large telfar bag.
“bitch just leave him?” you asked raising your lip and eyebrow. you were so tired of hearing about Nate. between the weekly struggles of Maddy constant questioning, Rue and Jules crying, Kat bitching, and Cassie zoning out you were exhausted. the only thing keeping you from snapping was Elliot, Fez, and Bobbi.
“Nate’s a dick. simple. go text Travis back.” you told her while finally fishing out your notebook. you had a quiz coming up in English this week and you knew you needed to take notes desperately.
Maddy rolled her eyes and sighed at you and at the boy who was approaching, Elliot, with Jules and Rue in tow.
“did anybody buy a ticket to Oklahoma?” Elliot asked gripping his backpack strap with one hand and pulling your back flush to his chest with the other.
nobody responded.
“…”
“….didn’t think so….” he mumbled to himself while you started laughing.
“that was the randomest thing you’ve asked.” Maddy said raising a threaded brow. he was so dumb to her.
“Lexi just ambushed us on the way over here.” Rue said in response.
the more you were around Lexi Oklahoma sounded like her life issues plastered onto a page.
and if you were correct she knew to cast you correctly.
“it’s getting fucking weird.” Jules said scratching at her head.
Tumblr media
“no what’s really weird to me is the fact you two are always together!” Maddy’s said furiously blending her blush in.
Maddy hadn’t got over the fact you’d be spending the night at Elliot’s and not hers after the party. telling you about how you two could have matched pajamas, blankets, and snacks for the last hour as you two dressed into matching crotchet dresses.
“we’re literally fucking dating?! i’m going to a party with you tonight aren’t i?” you exclaimed while harshly putting on your shoes.
“that’s literally not the point! you know we went from being with each other everyday to every other day.” she argued, raising her voice to an octave she never used with you.
“Maddy i love you, but you expect me to not hang out with my own damn boyfriend? you literally ditched me everyday for Nate and didn’t tell me in advance. i tell you when me and Elliot have plans.” you couldn’t believe her right now. the amount of times she stood you up and now seeing you 5 out of 7 days a week was upsetting her? you two hung out barely once a week when she was with Nate.
Maddy’s head whipped towards you before she grabbed her phone and stomped out of your room.
“I don’t need this shit!” she called out.
what in the absolute fuck was that?
Tumblr media
Maddy was on a mission. Pushing her way through the sea of body’s she searched for any group that was doing drugs.
she was your ride for the party and she knew you’d be late since she ran off.
she had a limited about of time to find Elliot.
scanning through the sea of hair around a table she finally found blonde tips and black roots, her heels clacking as she marched her way towards him.
Elliot slid his eyes over to look at Maddy when he heard her heels step beside him. she took a sip from her cup, her eyes set in a hard glare.
“i really don’t like you.” she told him after taking a sip.
“uh…okay?” Elliot mumbled scratching the back of his head. what was he supposed to do about it?
“y/n never acted like this before she met you. we barley go shopping, we barely match, she’s always busy. can’t you go get high with Rue and let her hang out with me for a bit?” she rambled.
Elliot’s eyebrows shot up and he slowly nodded, watching Maddy’s angered face.
he could tell she was more hurt though.
“listen,” he said cutting off whatever else she was saying. “how many times did you hang out with y/n when you dated Nate?”
Maddy snapped her mouth shut and set her mouth into a hard line. she knew she was caught.
“…since you two broke up you’ve literally been under y/n everyday. Maddy, instead of having this attachment and feeling of entitlement to my girlfriend maybe we need to find healthy coping mechanisms other than being controlling?” he said shrugging his shoulders at the last sentence.
it hit hard.
because for once she was wrong…and the boy she disliked for months was right.
Maddy just blinked. took a gulp of what was left in her cup and blinked again.
“…you’re right, but out of all people to talk about healthy coping mechanisms you might need to take your own advice.”
and with that she walked away, no stomping this time.
“is she okay?” Elliot heard from behind him. you were walking up with Fez and Rue behind you.
“hey baby.” Elliot smiled pulling you into a hug before kissing your cheek.
“she’ll be alright.”
'You Took Your Time' - James Potter x Female Reader (Part One)
Tumblr media
Description: For years Y/N has shielded her crush on her friend James Potter, with only her best friend Maddie (or so she thought), being aware. With the years of watching the boy she fancies declare his love for someone else, one stupid and unknowingly insensitive comment from James Y/N has had enough. Her reaction causes the Marauders to put James in check and for him to question his own feelings.
Warnings: Swearing, A small bit of angst,insecurity from Y/N(?), small mention of sex, mention of loss of virginity, mention of masturbation, smut to come in part 2.
(This is my first time publishing so pls interact & give me any feedback or tips to improve, thank you:))
(also apologies if its a bit long, I originally planned one part but got a bit into it so now its split into two)
The corridors of Hogwarts were filled with the excited chatter of students as the school made it's way to breakfast. Today was the highly anticipated Quidditch match between rival houses Gryffindor and Slytherin which would determine this years winner of the Inter-House Quidditch Cup.
As you entered the great hall side by side with your best friend Maddie, your eyes scanned your house table discretely searching for your glasses wearing, curly haired long-time crush, James Potter.
Your crush on James Potter had began in your first year at Hogwarts when he sat next to you on the Gryffindor table after you had both been sorted. However, it took you another two years to even pluck up the courage to speak to him properly, which is ironic considering Gryffindors are famed for being brave. From your third year you had developed a small friendship after sharing your first kiss through a muggle game called spin the bottle. This led to you not only blooming a friendship with him but also with his three other mates infamously known as the Marauders. That first kiss was as far as your romantic relationship had developed however due to his infatuation with the beautiful and intelligent witch, Lily Evans, which cemented you in the friend zone. I mean you couldn't really blame him, Lily was like an angel, but that didn't mean it didn't sting when he continuously confessed his unrequited love for the red head to constantly get brutally rejected. As Maddie, your best friend, was obviously fully informed of your crush, she took the executive decision that you both would distance yourselves from the Marauders and Lilly and her group this year to avoid any more nights of tears and questioning what she had that you didn't. This didn't mean you both completely ignored them but instead waited for them to come to you and to desire your presence rather than you both just constantly being there. You did also attribute this decision to the fact Maddie had a huge crush on Remus, who had hooked up with her a few times and then been completely distant afterwards until the next hook up. It was a vicious cycle.
You managed to spot James sat in the middle of the table surrounded by his three best friends and a handful of the Gryffindor quidditch team. As you took your seat the pair of you made eye contact followed by a flash of his cheeky smile which never failed to make a blush creep its way onto your cheeks. You returned the smile as Maddie grabbed your arm and yanked you down.
'fuck me, I'm starving' Maddie exclaimed whilst serving herself some eggs and bacon from the feast in front of her.
'I'm so nervous I don't think I can eat'
'oooo sorry, forgot you were playing the match, oh wait, thats not you,thats lover boy' Maddie teased causing you to roll your eyes and shove your elbow into her side earning a groan.
'fuck off he's not my lover boy'
You snarled back before jumping at the deep voice that came from behind you.
'Who's your lover boy?'
Turning around the blush crept back to your cheeks as you discovered James sat next to you, an eyebrow raised and a curious look on his face. When did he get here?
'Wouldn't you loveee to know' You teased whilst poking a finger into his chest.
'Come onnn tell me'
This was followed by a childish exchange of 'nopes' and 'pleases' before Maddie chimed in with'
Why are you so eager to know Potter? Jealous?'
'Pfftttt me, jealous? never. I've got my Lily darling, I just never hear y/n talking about guys, she's innocent'
He shrugged whilst picking up an apple and taking a bite. Yeah cause you're the only guy I really think about, you thought to yourself. He was right to a certain extent but not completely. You just never really talked about guys in front of him. You had hooked up with plenty of people and had even lost your virginity last summer before your return to Hogwarts. He would have noticed you sneaking off from parties if he wasn't so obsessed with Lily. You felt the bitterness consume your body at the realisation of him not even noticing you enough to know you had hooked up with people before.
'Just because she don't talk about boys to you James, doesn't mean theres not plenty lined up waiting for her' Maddie sassily replied giving you a wink. James laughed a little to loudly at this which caused you and Maddie to exchange a look.
'Yeah right' He scoffed, 'who's lining up to get with her?'
You couldn't help but feel hurt at this response. Did James really not see you as good enough or even attractive enough for any boys to want you?
'what so you don't believe that any boys would want to get with me?' you asked back the hurt evident in your voice and you saw the expression on James face completely change.
'what no y/n thats not what i-'
As if like a mirror of each other you and Maddie stood up in synch cutting off James mid-sentence, complete and utter shock written all over his face.
'good luck with the match' you basically spat at him as you spun on your heels and sped out of the great hall with your best friend by your side. That was possibly a slight over reaction but in that moment you didn't care. You were tired of being overlooked by him. You weren't cocky by any means but you were confident but you knew you were at least pretty. Pretty enough to get plenty of boys attention even if it was not his.
'Fuck him and fuck going to watch that twat play Quidditch, lets go back to our dorm and get you ready for tonight to show him what he's missing' Maddie snapped and you flashed her a sad smile. You counted your blessings that you had such a great best friend that she would voluntarily miss one of the schools biggest events in order to be there for you.
-
A flabbergasted James remained frozen at his spot on the table, unaware of the three marauders who had crept up after observing the exchange. Sirius waved his hand in front of his best friends face to get his attention.
'What the hell was that about Prongs?'
'Yeah you look like you've seen a ghost or something' Remus chirped in as he took a bite of toast.
'She just randomly bitched at me and stormed off, I don't know what I did'James exclaimed to the others maintaining a bewildered expression.
'It can't have been for no reason, explain what happened' Peter prompted James as the three boys leaned in ready for James explanation.
Once James had explained the story which had been accompanied by sounds of reaction from his friends, he looked around at all of their faces which held a grim expression.
'Mate, thats pretty shitty of you' Remus admitted to the curly haired boy who's face expressed even more confusion.
'What do you mean? I didn't do anything' James argued, the defensive tone caused Remus and Peter to roll their eyes and Sirius to let out a low laugh despite not finding the situation funny.
'You basically said straight to her face that you don't think she's attractive enough for boys to want to get with her, nice one mate' Sirius stated matter of factly. James was taken aback by his womaniser of a best friends judgmental tone.
'What no, thats not what I meant, I just meant I'd never heard of her with any other guys, as far as I know I'm the only guy she's ever even kissed' This caused Remus to let out a loud amused chuckle and James turned to him with a shocked look that demanded explanation.
'Well thats obviously how she took it Prongs. And I'm saying this as a friend, but if you think she's only ever kissed you you're barking mate. She's hooked up with a few guys in school and when I stayed in her dorm with her and Maddie one night she told me she'd lost her virginity to some muggle boy whilst on holiday last summer' James' jaw dropped open at this new information. What the actual fuck. How did he not know this? And why were his hands balling into fists from hearing it?
'Why the fuck didn't you tell me this Moony?'
Remus had a clear expression of confusion at James response but Sirius was quick to step in to his defence.
'Why would he? You've never shown any interest in y/n because you're so caught up chasing Evans. I mean it's obvious y/n has a bit of a crush on you but you've never batted an eyelid at her'
James was hurt by Padfoots statement. Yes he had always chased Lily but that never meant he hadn't always thought y/n was beautiful. Man, he'd be a liar to admit that there'd been some nights he hadn't thought about what it would be like to be with her as he relieved himself or batted away the thoughts of how her plump lips would feel against his or trailing down his neck. He always thought it was cute the way she threw her head back when she laughed or how she always had to look up when speaking because she was so small in comparison to him. If he was honest, he'd developed a small crush on her himself over the years that had sort of taken away some of his feelings for Lily but he just kept perusing Evans as he'd made such a fuss and at this point everyone expected it. He also never expected that Y/N would ever fancy him. Despite his stupid comment, he'd always thought Y/N was too good to be with anyone. She was fun, caring and never really gave a fuck what anyone though, that was until he opened his stupid mouth apparently.
'thats not true' James voice came out quiet and his friends exchanged glances not really knowing what was going on in his head.
'I've always thought she was class, even if I hadn't said it out loud, she's one of the fittest girls in Hogwarts and we have so much fun when we hang out with her and Maddie'
'Mate you don't have to tell us that we know her too, we've been secretly saying for years that we wished you'd stop with the Lily obsession and see what was in front of you' Moony answered honestly which was accompanied my murmurs of agreement from Padfoot and Wormtail.
'jeez lads, didn't think of bringing this up at any point did you?' James asked his friends flashing them all an angry glare.
'Leave it out mate, you're Lily Evans mad' Sirius teased.
'I am not' This earned James a wide eyed glare from his fellow Marauders.
'Ok maybe I was, but only cause I'd made such a fuss in the past I thought I'd keep it up, thinking back now I suppose I've always fancied Y/N deep down'
James admission caused the three others to erupt into a small array of cheers and he rolled his eyes at his pals.
'Music to my fucking years, Godric Jamesy it took you long enough' Remus teased his friend whilst pulling him into a headlock and ruffling his hair. James tried to escape but the lycanthropes grip was too strong.
'Moooony, let me go I need to go find (Y/N
'Slow down Romeo, you have a Quidditch final to win first, after that we can work out how you will apologise to y/n' Peter reassured him with a pat on the back before they began to head down to the Quidditch pitch.
This was perfect, James, the hopeless romantic, thought. I'll go win the final, bring back the Quidditch cup and after I'll find Y/N and confess my realisation, fingers crossed its not too late.
i’ll do whatever it takes (i’ll make a million mistakes)
(ao3 link)
characters: tom wachowski, sonic the hedgehog, maddie wachowski, mentioned tails & knuckles
words: 1513
content & warnings: fluffy family feels, father-son relationship, light angst, happy ending, SONIC MOVIE 2 SPOILERS, lmk if i need to add anything!
summary: The problem is that Tom is in too deep. There is no way his brain will ever be able to separate “Sonic” from “my kid” ever again.
note: woah a sonic movie 2 fic? cant believe joining the sonic fandom has gotten me to finish two whole fics in a month. title from “dear theodosia.” final warning that this fic CONTAINS SPOILERS for sonic movie 2, like. immediately.
~~~~~
Stop trying to be my dad.
Tom can’t stop thinking about it.
Maybe he should be freaking out over the fact that Sonic turned golden and gained superpowers. Or that in giving up those powers, Sonic sent the gem-diamond-emerald-whatevers out into the world for anyone to find. Or that Sonic, along with his two new friends, one of whom tried to kill Sonic, is apparently a guardian of this “Master Emerald.” Or that the newly-re-repaired Wachowski household suddenly needs two more beds.
Okay, Tom is freaking out about those things, obviously. They’re pretty big things. He and Maddie and Sonic probably need to have a family meeting to discuss all of those things.
But there’s that word again—family.
The problem is that Tom is in too deep. Sonic is his son, whether he likes it or not. There is no way Tom’s brain will ever be able to separate “Sonic” from “my kid” ever again.
And yet. Stop trying to be my dad.
All right then, Tom decides. He won’t pressure Sonic into seeing him as a dad. He can hold back. He doesn’t want to, of course, but he also recognizes that Sonic’s had a…rough past, losing the people he’s considered family. He wouldn’t force Sonic into anything he didn’t want, but especially not this.
Tom eases up on the rules and the lectures ever so slightly, although sometimes they’re still necessary—despite it all, Sonic hasn’t lost his love for adventure. He’s not stopping robberies anymore, but he’s started taking Tails and Knuckles out to explore a little bit more of the world, often without telling Tom or Maddie, and it’s ridiculously stressful.
Especially considering the fact that they’re supposed to stay hidden. It’s for their own safety, really! The next Robotnik could be anywhere, waiting for a chance to take them in and experiment on them like they’re science projects. Tom refuses to let that happen.
Wow, he really does sound like a dad.
So, he lets Sonic have a little more freedom in how late he stays up, in whether it’s too early for a chili dog, in what he watches on TV.
He also gives Sonic a power-bump before bed, instead of tucking him in. He reigns in the cheesy dad-nicknames he finds himself wanting to say increasingly often, like “bud” or “kiddo” or (this one’s the most embarrassing) “champ.”
He can’t quite bite back the “I love you”s, sometimes, but he does try to make them more lighthearted and directed at Sonic and Maddie, so it’s less deeply, awkwardly personal. He thinks he gets a pass on this one, though, because despite his endeavors to respect Sonic’s wishes they did just almost die. Sue him for being a little overprotective.
“Tom,” Maddie says, a few days into Tom’s mission. “What are you doing?”
“What? What am I doing?”
She raises an eyebrow. “You’re being weird around Sonic. What’s up?”
Tom sighs. “It isn’t—I’m not being weird.”
“Really.”
“Has anyone ever told you you’re too perceptive?” he jokes, reaching over to hug her.
“Call it wife’s intuition,” she says with a soft laugh.
“It’s just…something he said to me on that fishing trip—you know, the one we went on right before Hawaii. I’m just trying not to push him.”
“What did he say?” Maddie asks, leaning back to catch his gaze.
“He told me to stop trying to be his dad.”
“Oh,” Maddie says, reaching out to take Tom’s hand. “That’s…”
“I mean, I get it,” Tom says when she trails off. “But he’s our kid, Maddie. I can’t make him want us as parents, but…yeah. It stings.”
“Even if we can’t be his parents, we can still be his family,” Maddie says firmly. “He doesn’t have to call us mom and dad, but we’re gonna love him no matter what. He’ll just have to deal with it.”
Tom laughs. “You’re right, you’re right.”
“But…”
“But.”
“I think he’ll notice that you’re acting differently,” Maddie says. “He’s a smart kid.”
“Well, yeah,” Tom says. “But it isn’t like I’m trying to hide it. I want him to know that I understand where he’s coming from and—“
“Or you could just talk to him,” Maddie says, shaking her head with a smile. “Communication and all that.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Tom says. “I’ll talk to him.”
He doesn’t talk to him.
He means to, really, but everything seems to be going really well and he doesn’t want to upset the newly-acquired peace. Besides, Sonic’s still guiding Tails and Knuckles through their adjustment to life on Earth; he’s too busy for a capital-c Conversation.
(Tom knows they’re just excuses, and Tom knows that Maddie knows they’re just excuses, but he will continue making excuses because in truth, he’s scared. He isn’t sure what he’ll do if he talks to Sonic only for him to repeat what’s already been plaguing Tom for says.)
Sonic beats him to it, anyway, on brand as ever. They’ve just played a game of baseball—although “played” is a generous term with Knuckles involved—and are about to leave to get ice cream. Knuckles hauls Tails onto his shoulder and makes his way towards the truck, Sonic lagging behind to watch them with a wide grin.
“I’m happy for you,” Tom says, smiling down at Sonic. “You’ve got your wingmen! The perfect friends to grow up with.“
“Yeah,” Sonic says. Knuckles swings Tails into the back of the truck before leaping in himself. “Speaking of, uh, friends…”
Tom blinks as Sonic turns back to look at him, hands fidgeting and his smile turning awkward.
“Me?” Tom asks.
“I noticed that you, well…I dunno,” Sonic says, eyes flitting anywhere but Tom’s face. “It’s stupid. But you’re being weird. Around me. Specifically.“
“Oh,” Tom says, looking up and making eye contact with Maddie. She must see something in his expression, because she rolls her eyes and shrugs. I told you so.
Tom huffs a laugh to himself before he kneels down so he can be face to face with Sonic. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that, actually. I’m sorry I didn’t say anything sooner.”
“So something is up with you!” Sonic says triumphantly, before deflating slightly. “Did I do something?”
“No! No,” Tom insists, but then he thinks for a moment. “Well, yes, actually, but nothing wrong! You just said, you know, back on that boat—you told me to stop trying to be your dad.”
Sonic stares at him, expression eerily blank. He’s usually one of the most expressive people Tom’s ever met; it’s unnerving to see no reaction at all.
“So I was trying to chill out, a little, with the ‘dad’ stuff,” Tom continues. “But—“
“Tom. Tommy. Donut Lord. Stop talking,” Sonic rushes out before Tom can continue. “Listen, I wasn’t—I was just mad, okay, I didn’t—“
“You don’t have to defend yourself, Sonic, I just wanted you to know that I understand—“
“But you don’t!” Sonic says, almost frantically, although a wide grin is starting to stretch across his face. “You’re the one who said we’re a family!”
“Well, yes, but—“
Sonic launches himself at Tom so quickly that it’s practically a spindash, and Tom just stands there catching his breath for a second before he realizes Sonic is hugging him.
“I’ve got a lot more than a couple new friends, Dad,” Sonic says, tucking his head into Tom’s shoulder.
Tom inhales so sharply that he chokes a little bit, carefully wrapping his arms around Sonic and trying his best to avoid the points of his quills. “Oh.”
His voice cracks. Sonic snickers. “Are you crying?”
Tom laughs, and it’s watery. “Maybe a little.”
“Aw, come on,” Sonic says, pulling away. “The big, tough Donut Lord doesn’t cry.”
“No, he definitely does,” Tom says, blinking quickly to dry his eyes as he squeezes Sonic in an extra one-armed hug. “You gotta warn a guy before dropping emotional bombs like that, bud.”
“What can I say, I’m an agent of chaos and unexpectedness,” Sonic brags, and Tom graciously pretends not to notice when he swipes a hand under his eyes (although if Sonic really didn’t want him to see, he would’ve just done it lightning-fast).
“All right, let’s go, champ,” Tom says. A flush immediately runs across his face as Sonic cackles.
“Champ? That’s a new one,” Sonic says.
“Just you wait. I have an unlimited supply of dad jokes I can finally use,” Tom says, reveling in the bright feeling that settles in his chest as Sonic grins up at him.
“Love you,” Sonic says, glancing away in a split-second of nerves.
“Love you too, bud,” Tom says. “Race you to the car?”
Sonic laughs, any shyness disintegrating as he readies himself to run. “Yeah right, old man. It’ll barely be a race. Have fun losing!”
And before Tom can take two steps, Sonic is off, blitzing away in a crackle of blue and sliding across the roof into the back of the truck.
Tom lets him win, obviously. It’s the dad thing to do.

Yo, I've been thinking about Danny's grades. Because, like, most of the DP fandom writes ff with Danny being one bad grade from flunking out 'cause he can't fight ghosts and keep up with the school work.
But, like, is that really accurate tho? (And let me make it clear that I've only watched DP once and that was in Feb, so I could have some information missing here)
Cuz on the very first ep Lancer tells Danny he has basically nothing bad on his record (whereas Tucker had some transgressions).
And I can only remember Danny's grades being mentioned 5 times in the entire show (on One Of A Kind, Teacher Of The Year, What You Want (?), TUE, and, obviously, Mystery Meat — there is Vlad's mentions of Danny's grades and Danny's dream in Frightmare, but I'm not considering those).
On One of a Kind, he gets a D in his biology — which, from the way he said it, it sounded like he never got a grade that low — but he managed to raise his grade.
On Teacher of the Year, he fails his English (?) exam — not because he was occupied with a ghost, but because he was obsessed with playing Doom (let's also remember that, on One of a Kind, Tucker literally says Danny's problem was time management) — but then he was able to retake the test and got a 91%.
On What You Want, he mentions he's a C student.
And, well, everyone knows what happened in TUE: Danny says he isn't prepared for the CAT 'cuz he didn't get to study throughout the year because of ghost fighting (which IG is where the whole fanfic thing comes from).
But, like, was Danny actually not able to study because of ghosts? Because I can't actually think of a time where he was actually stopped from getting his homework done by a ghost fight.
But you know what does come up in my mind when I think of all of that? "Poor time management skills"... Oh, wait, that's already Canon!
Before I get into the time management skills, lemme bring up again Vlad's comments, Danny's A grade on his dream on Frightmare, and Danny's comment on What You Want (as well as what he said in TUE).
Guys, the educational system sucks. In 2004 it was worse. Teachers also suck in that respect (do I need to explain that I don't hate all teachers, only the sucky ones?).
There are teachers who humiliate you in front of the class for having a question they believe you shouldn't have, I'm pretty sure everyone has been in that situation or knows someone who has. Some teachers shame you every time you get a bad grade instead of offering solutions — that affects people, it doesn't even have to be that explicit.
I spent 'till my senior year of highschool thinking I was a terrible student (because teachers told me I was every time I got a bad grade). That only changed when I was calculating my GPA to see which colleges I had a shot at: my GPA was 3.6/4
Now, take Mr Daniel Fenton. Youngest son of a family of geniuses. His older sister got the highest ever CAT grade and writes Theses for funsies. His parents not only where accepted to appear on genius magazine (Jazz may have done the application for Maddie, but she wouldn't lie on it knowing that they would do at least some fact chacking — meaning that she probably picked accomplishments of Maddie's and used only the ones she approved of, meaning that they had accomplishments other than the ghost related ones) but they also built a freaking portal to another dimension.
Not to mention that Tucker is a top notch hacker and doesn't get good grades because he doesn't want to (which doesn't matter because he changes them anyway) and that Sam never shows any concern towards her grades and, being from a rich family, she probably has to get good grades.
Take Danny, who wants to be an astronaut — the literal hardest job to get on the face of the Earth, which also requires a degree in the STEM area (which Danny is admittedly not the best at). Now put him in a place where his grades dropped a little — Maddie, his mother, literally told him he had to get good grades because "Fentons get As" or whatever.
Is it that hard to think that a lot of Danny saying his grades are so terrible and he's not prepared for the tests is because that's just how low he thinks of himself academically?
Lemme get back to the time management skills.
So I've already established that the educational system sucks and it wasn't any better in 2004.
It was even worse at recognizing and dealing with neurodivergent kids.
And I'm pretty sure that, like, 70% of the fandom sees Danny as Neurodivergent-coded — autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, etc.
The thing with being neurodivergent is that sometimes ND people suck at some executive functions/have executive dysfunctions.
Do you know what is an executive function? Time management skills.
When it comes to studying, I personally have a lot of trouble with distractions and getting myself to start the assignment. That problem is usually solved if I have someone to do it with me — and by that I mean that the person usually just sits nearby and sometimes helps me with processing an information, which tends to consist in just me talking.
Which is basically what Lancer did with Danny in Teacher of the Year. Which,,, Lancer, my beloved, yes! When he found the problem, he tried to find a solution and his frickin solution worked!
Anyway, this is all I wanted to say: the educational system sucks, Danny has a warped view of himself, Danny is neurodivergent, and Lancer should've been portrayed as an awesome teacher since the start because he was awesome.

Buck & Eddie got married and forgot to tell everyone and this is how it gets out:
It’s been a long day and it seems as though the 118 has finally caught a break; they’re in the middle of some much needed down time, hanging out in the kitchen lounging area, when Bobby gets the email.
“What on God’s green...” He half mutters, blinking and scrolling back up because there’s no way he read that correctly, is there? He stares at his laptop screen but it’s there, written in black and white, clear as day.
Normally he would call both parties into his office and deal with this privately, but it comes as such a shock that the Captain blurts out, “You two got married?!” without a second thought.
Hen and Chimney look up from the game of cards they’re playing, confused for a moment before everyone’s gazes ultimately fall on Buck and Eddie, who were sharing the loveseat, watching some sitcom they both like.
“Oh,” Buck clicks his tongue and snaps his fingers. “Yeah, I almost forgot about that.”
“Wait, you what? This is for real?” Hen drops her cards on the table, revealing her hand, though she can’t be bothered to care at this point.
The Captain blinks again, shaking his head. “Why am I only hearing about this now in an email from HR?”
“And why weren’t we invited?” Chimney complains. “Maddie’s gonna hear about this.” he says, already taking out his phone to text her the gossip.
Eddie shrugs. “Well for one, we were drunk.” he says.
Buck nods in agreement. “It seemed like a good idea at the time, though. Still is.”
Hen snorts. “Oh God, and pray tell, how?”
“We got into this whole long conversation about that time we were all suspected of having robbed that bank--you guys remember, right?” Eddie starts, acting as if it’s no big deal.
Bobby nods slowly, confused as can be. “Yes? And how exactly did that lead to marriage?”
“Buck mentioned how if we ever did commit a crime--”
Chimney tries to hold back his laughter but it’s impossible, especially at the look on the Captain’s face as Eddie goes on.
Buck shrugs helplessly. “What? Not saying we would, just like, it’s a possibility!” he tries to defend himself, nodding at Eddie to continue.
“So anyway, he said spouses aren’t legally required to snitch on each other and uh, you know, one thing led to the other and I mean, c’mon, we live in LA, there’s no waiting period after you get your marriage license, so. Yeah.”
“Oh my God.” Hen covers her face with both hands, unable to stifle her own laughter. “And you guys didn’t think to maybe get it reversed once ya’ll sobered up?!”
Buck shrugs again. “When we did sober up the next morning and realize what happened we talked about getting the marriage annulled.” he admits.
“But the more we spoke about it the more we realized it would just be easier to stay married.” Eddie says, as if it’s the most reasonable thing in the world. “Buck is already in my will as Christopher’s legal guardian if anything were to happen, so really, the fact that we’re married now--”
“Woah woah woah, hold on, wait, what?!” Chimney gapes. “My heart can only take one piece of juicy gossip a day, folks! My fingers can only type so fast!”
Bobby turns to Eddie, “You put Buck down as Christopher’s legal guardian?” He asks, looking between the two now, with raised brows.
Eddie notes the way Buck sinks into the loveseat a little further, the way his shoulders hunch, and he hates that he knows damn well what Buck is thinking. That everyone will ask Eddie what he was thinking, to reconsider, or something stupid along those lines. So he quickly goes up to bat for Buck. “Of course. There’s no one I’d trust with my kid more.” he says, confident and unwilling to back down.
He feels Buck relax beside him and it tugs at his heart.
The Captain smiles warmly in response and sighs fondly. “In that case, let me approve these HR forms.” he waves the two of them over. “C’mon, to my office, you two have a lot of forms to fill out.”
As soon as the three men are out of sight Hen turns to Chimney and purses her lips. “Karen predicted this would happen and I told her she was outta her damn mind.” she sighs. “I owe my wife a crisp twenty.”
Chim stares at Hen. “I know you’re married to a genius but there’s no way in hell Karen predicted this exact scenario, c’mon.”
Hen shakes her head. “I shit you not, she said those two are gonna end up married for Christopher’s benefit before they even realize they’re in love.”
“Of course she did.”
