[IMAGE ID: Three pages of a black and white comic.
PAGE ONE
PANEL 1: Perry Porter continues his news report. "Further investigation," he says, "reveals that this human has been the subject of sightings in Bonesborough for a few weeks now, and is the cause of a recent disturbance at Hexside School. For further comment, here is my own son, Augustus." PANEL 2: Perry interviews Gus, who is grinning with excitement. "Augustus, is it true you've encountered this human before?" "Yeah!" exclaims Gus, "She snuck into the school and now she's my friend! Her name is Luz!" PANEL 3: "Now that they're together, I can see…" says Belos. "It's them." With a point of his finger, he conjures hologram-like illusions of Luz and Lillith, who stand in the throne room facing them, with their names above their heads. "I don't understand," says Caleb. PANEL 4: The illusions have transformed into Luz and Lilith in their disguises from "Elsewhere and Elsewhen." The names over their heads have changed to "Luzura" and "Aunt Dirtrude." "I had to consult memory magic to be sure," Belos says, "but I was correct." Caleb reads the names out loud: "Luzura and--" PANEL 5: He points, laughing. "Wait, is that the witch who broke your nose?" "They're the two who helped me find the Collector," Belos grumbles. "I did always have questions about them. Clearly there was time magic involved."
PAGE TWO
PANEL 1: A profile view of Caleb, quietly sad. "I see," he says. "And this human attacked a witch in a duel." PANEL 2: But then he turns and brings a hand to his chin in thought. "But… the boy called her his friend?" "Either a cunning ploy, or she is… struggling to find her way," responds Belos. "Either way, she isn't ready to face a witch." PANEL 3: A view of footage from the news report, projected by the crystal ball. In a moment from the episode "Convention," Eda exposes the power glyph used on Amity while Luz looks on in surprise. Belos continues to speak off screen. "If it wasn't for the Owl Lady's intervention, she would have sorely lost." "The Owl Lady protected her?" Caleb asks. "Yes, it appears my suspicions were correct." PANEL 4: "The portal door has reappeared, in the hands of another one of your blasted Clawthornes." A close-up of Belos against a totally black background, his face shadowed. One hateful eye gleams from behind his mask. PANEL 5: A close-up of Caleb staring up at him, also shadowed against black. His face is lined, his single pupil a pinprick. His expression is schooled neutral. "And just as before," Belos continues off screen, "the witch has taken advantage to claim a human soul." PANEL 6: "No wonder the child came to me for help. If not for Lilith, perhaps I could have aided her back then." He stands in front of the projection, watching the newscast, his back to Caleb. "I should order her collected and brought here. Shield her from further corruption. If only the Owl Lady wasn't guarding her." PANEL 7: A close up of Caleb jolting forward, fearful. "NO!" he bursts out.
PAGE THREE
PANEL 1: A close-up of Belos glowering dangerously over his shoulder, lit by the broadcast from behind. "No?" PANEL 2: Caleb sweats. "I mean. Philip, don't you think it'll look suspicious to show too much interest in a human?" PANEL 3: Caleb takes Belos hand, clutching him imploringly. "Not to mention the possibilities of meddling in the time-line. It's too risky." Belos isn't looking at him anymore. He looks ahead at the illusion of Luz, whose back is to us in the foreground. His expression is unreadable. PANEL 4: A high angle shot of Belos and Caleb watching Luz's illusion. Caleb still clings to Belos. Luz's illusion is alone now, staring at them blankly as she stands at the far end of the throne room. "Yes," Belos agrees, "I fear it's too early to intervene. It seems the Lord is testing her." PANEL 5: "For now," he continues off screen, "she will have to face the temptations of this realm on her own." A close-up of Caleb, letting out a breath of relief. PANEL 6: Caleb's eyes snap open. Belos' hand has come up to brush his cheek. PANEL 7: Belos pulls Caleb into a hug. Caleb's face over Belos' shoulder is drawn in supressed, silent horror, cast in deep shadows, as Belos murmurs to him reassuringly. "Don't worry, Caleb. The Owl Lady will be taken care of. And then the portal to the human realm will be in safe hands." PANEL 8: Belos and Caleb in profile against a black background, casting long shadows on the ground. Belos hunches over Caleb, one arm around his back and the other hand on the back of his head, pressing him close. Caleb dangles limply, face towards the ceiling, pulled halfway out of his wheelchair. Belos murmurs into Caleb's hair. "I won't let history repeat."

Toh Theory: Will the Titan aid Luz in the Final Battle, and has he been helping her?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Throughout the course of the Owl house (especially after the revelations from S2b) a question has been in the back of my mind. Has the Titan of the Boiling Isles been secretly helping Luz this whole time?
Tumblr media
A major element of season 1 and early season 2 was Luz’s uncanny ability to discover and utilize glyphs, something witches and demons didn’t know existed until then. In a matter of weeks, Luz had mastered all four glyphs, and would eventually learn to combine them in only a few months. While this also stems from her artistic ingenuity (and reading some of Philip’s journal), it’s almost like the Titan itself had been guiding her as a sort omniscient second mentor. On the opposite, it took Belos/Philip Witterbane years to figure out the gylphs even requiring Luz to teach his past self the light spell (her first glyph). He even speculated that Titan would have such knowledge to begin with and was actively sabotaging him to prevent him from threatening the people of the isles. It’s fitting that the self-proclaiming “Humble Messenger of the Titan” was actually a false prophet despised by the being he claimed to serve where as Luz was unknowingly the Titan’s true champion.
Tumblr media
Another interesting thing in “For The Future” of all the Hexsquad, Luz was the only one to stuck in the rift (a place she had previously visited in Yesterday’s Lie). The spiritual figure (who I presume is the titan’s soul) is desperately trying to reach, even waving at her to get her attention. Whatever the reason, the Titan clearly wishes to speak with Luz specifically as if he needs her for something important.
Tumblr media
This is mostly just a guess on my end, but I’m starting to wonder if Dana has been hinting this connection from the beginning. During the countdown for the season 2 premiere, Luz is shown resting inside the skull of a giant beast which seems to greatly resembles a Titan’s head. Another art piece shows Luz playing with a massive paper mache King’s skull, wearing it and even sitting inside of it.
Tumblr media
In the show proper, in the episode “Thanks to Them”, Luz and Hunter adorn themselves with a King and Owl mask respectively to face what they think is Belos returned. While this was mostly helped to give Hunter a much needed confidence boost, it might also serve as a symbolic function in the narrative. Hunter is revitalizing a part of his former identity as the Golden Guard whereas Luz wears the likeness of someone she views as a younger brother for emotional support. It also may foreshadow Luz drawing strength from the Titan itself in order to be on par with the Collector as what Lilith mentioned in “For the Future”, Titan’s magic can negate Collector magic. (Makes you wonder if instead of a CollectorLuz, we got TitanLuz, but that’s probably just me.)
Tumblr media
.Before we get into Titan’s plans for Luz, we need to take reflect on elements on the small tidbits of information revolving around the Titans in general. As we can recall, the Titans were once the ruling species of the Demon Realm for an unspecified amount of time. One day, the Collectors arrived on their crusade of capturing and taking over other planets for their own agenda. The Titans stepped forth to oppose the Collector and drive them back, with the latter alongside the witches and demons who worshiped them and sought their extinction. This would lead to a long and bloody war which ended in both sides wiping each other out, save a youngster from each opposing species (King and our Collector).
Tumblr media
During this period of time, it helps to shed a small light on the Boiling Isles Titan likely as a person. While we don’t know much about King’s father, it’s in the face of the war and the slaughter of his kin, a he sought to protect his son (the last Titan) at all costs. He created an island hidden away from the Collector through a protective sigil inside a massive tower which King’s egg would be nurtured. As a last line of defense against any intruder seeking to harm his son, the Titan created an army of golems made from flesh and bone to protect and care for King. This proves to us that regardless of circumstance, King’s father loved and cherished his son more than anything in the world, even before his own life.
Tumblr media
This leads into the reason for the Titan seeking out Luz, the answer is as simple as it is profound, to be there for King. Ever since Luz arrived on the Isles, she’s had a massive positive impact on the island and it’s inhabitants (despite her believing the contrary). She helped Eda reconcile with her curse and her sister, she helped Willow, Gus, Hunter, and Amity overcome their personal struggles, reforge their friendships and come into their own, as well as play an important role in stopping the Day of Unity. But one of major accomplishments was with King, at the start of the show, he was self-centered attention seeking child lost in delusions of grandeur who often caused a lot of trouble her and others around him. But thanks in part to Luz, King not only learned that actions have consequences and to appreciate what he has, but also resolve his own identity crisis and discover his nature as a Titan. If not for Luz’s influence would’ve never become the mature, responsible, empathetic boy he is by season 3. Through that, it’s easy to see why the Titan would see Luz as the perfect person to watch over King, as well the world he created in his own death.
While the idea of prophecy and chosen ones does not fit the themes of the owl house, but take away the Titan’s preconceived divinity to the witches and demons of the BI and a new picture is formed. A father who in death left behind a world for his son to call home and a family to cherish, with Luz serving to guide him into becoming a good person in a way he could not.

Hey, I'm the person who asked for the platonic Belos x Reader Angst.
I'm back but with Fluff™
Belos creates the Reader, who is a Grimwalker, as he may need them for the Day of Unity. He originally plans to just pawn them off on Kikimora or Lilith to raise, as he believes himself to be too important for such a task, only to find himself falling in love with then when he picks them up and holds them for the first time after they're "born".
A person of taste I see. Fluff it is.
~~~
The ingridents took him far too long to collect and you were such a troublesome one to make. Staring at the various diagrams he had up from old books along with his own notes he frowns. The others hadn't nearly been this hard but he supposed practice made perfect and Hunter your "brother" hadn't been an easy task either. It didn't help that the ingridents were once plentiful and now had become scarce. Four hundred years of over use would do that he supposed.
With chalk staining his hands from the alchemy circle he drew and other ungodly ingridents for this spell staining his clothes from the chopping and measuring he'd done, he was impatient for this process to be over. Tired from fighting his curse he wishes for the fitless rest he usually succumbed too.
Tapping impatiently as he waits for the spell circle to finish and bind the ingridents together a sharp pain goes through his palm and fingers. Ignoring it blaming the curse, he watches this ritual he'd done a million times before be performed again and hums taking note of how the fire was a different color. Noticing the pain again he pauses before glancing at his hand. Holding it up his glove had been cut making him spew several curses.
Some of his own blood might have been mixed in making this experiment essentially a failure. Precision was key and extra ingridents often had unattended side effects. Deciding to wait it out, too see what abomination would be created the fire darkens hardening the clay as the ingredients begin to fuse inside. Stone becomes bone and wood becomes flesh as clay holds everything together. The beating organs created themselves first before being joined by bones that eventually are covered by muscle and skin.
The fire fades and Philip grabs a blanket he'd brought to wrap you up in. After all GrimWalker or not you were still sustepible to the cold as a baby.
You cry before the others which surprises him briefly before he becomes annoyed. He supposed that wasn't grounds for making another grimwalker, tearing you apart to take the ingridents back and restart just yet. But he wondered why you weren't silent like the others. Only ash remains and there you are in the center of the circle, a crying wailing baby.
At least you seemed healthy.
"Oh hush now." He scolds as he picks you up wiping the ash from your skin before putting the blanket around you. His gloved hand gently brushes your face dusting the last bit of ash away and just like that you stop crying.
Holding you close, cradling you to his chest he pauses as you blindly reach out for him. Frowning at you, simply rocking you to keep you quiet you don't seem to notice his annoyance. Or more likely in your baby like brain can't comprehend that he doenst want you. You were a means to an end, that was all.
You babel eyes still closed as your hands reach out for him and he wonders how long until he sees the magenta color that all GrimWalkers shared. He tilts your head this way and that waiting for your eyes to open but it simply makes you giggle as if he was playing some sort of game. Sighing he goes back to rocking you.
"What a little Beasty you are." He hums before chuckling amused. His brother had always been the same way, fussy unless Philip or his mother held him. Odd since you were made from a late witch he admired rather than his dearly departed brother. Well a mix of them and apparently him as well if the cut had anything to say about it. "Well you won't be my problem soon, will you?" He questions and you giggle making a smile creep up on his lips.
Shaking his head he turns towards the door. Lilith was waiting outside like he instructed. He knew she'd be a good enough den mother and that she'd take care of you since he had other matters to attend too. As far as witches went she was loyal and she was smart. She would give you those same traits. Kikimora had been an option but she did not strike him as the family type and he needed someone more stable. He needed you to grow up happy and healthy after all. Well healthy at least.
Hearing a yawn he pauses mid step and looks down at you. You had opened your eyes and what a surprise. His blue stared right back up at him. As he observed you in shock you simply giggled again before reaching up.
He shifts his hand to brush your hair back to get a closer look but before he can, you latch your tiny fist around his finger. Giggling as your other hand goes to your mouth to chew he blinks back tears.
Well than. Seems you weren't going anywhere after all.
"... I shall call you (Y/N)..." He whispers the name of an old friend long gone before shifting you closer to him. He wraps his cloak around the two of you too keep out the cold. As he walks out the door he nods to Lilith who bows. Tossing her a list from his pocket of what you'd need she rushed off to obey his orders not noticing the tiny bundle he had hidden in his arms.
Smiling down at you once she left nuzzling you softly he hums as you continue to bable still holding on to his finger.
You weren't going anywhere. You were staying right here with him.
Okay time to finally talk about the boiling isles/The Titan/Kings Dad!
And why I love him and hes been a character of the show the whole time.
Tumblr media
We first really "meet" the titan when Eda shows us the beauty of the boiling isles at the start of the show
Just a dead carcass, right? Thats how it seems at first but over the show we learn that the titan is magic! That the magic around Luz comes from the Titan! Now here is where the Titans character first really shines. He gives Luz the spell! And literally gives her a clue to make the connection!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now we think that this just happened randomly because she really listened to the nature. But since we now know that the Titan was actually there, seeing and listening to everything, this was a choice he made! Notice how Luz saw the light glyph in the sky after she spoke directly to the Titan.
Tumblr media
Luz: "youre supposed to teach me magic...."
And afterwards it starts to snow, revealing the glyph to Luz!
Tumblr media
Afterwards in more episodes, and especially in season two we learn that the habitants of the boiling islands worship the titan. The question of course is if they always did this in the first place or if Philip was the one who convinced them that the titan is some sort of god. I think they always kind of worshipped the titan since it was important for Philip to earn the islanders trust and so he used an already established deity that was wroshipped by the witches.
Tumblr media
Witch on screen: "he says he can talk to the Titan!"
Witches on the island constantly refer to the Titan like we do refer to god when we express worry or doubt or if we just wonder what is going on. ("Oh my Titan" "For Titans sake" "In the Titans name" etc)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And those graffiti. Sure they were most likely added to be jokes. But those jokes only work because it is established before that the witches of the islands see the Titan as a god!
Also see how Eda and Lilith react when they find out King is a titan!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lilith: "I cant believe that all this time you had a titan under your roof! - GASP - Ive eaten ice cream with a god!"
The Titan didnt choose to be worshipped. But he chose to tell Luz the glyphs and how and where to find them. And he chose to not tell Philip about them!
Tumblr media
Philip: "Took years to find them. Almost as if the world wanted to hide them from me."
Another instance that showed or hinted at that the Titan was still there, alive and watching out for King was when the wind gently brushed the swing he was sitting on in "Clouds on the horizons"
Tumblr media
And - of course - something that got kinda overlooked by all of us, the GIGANT still beating heart in the throne room!
Tumblr media
But we also learn that Titans themselves were crazy powerful. So powerful that they were the only ones who were strong enough against the collectors powers! Their blood is literally the cause of Luz being able to cast magic in the first place! Because of them and well because of the boiling isles Titan things from the human world wash up there constantly. Because they create those rifts.
So what did we learn? We learnt that the Titan is a big being that was crazy powerful and was worshipped by the witches on the boling isles. We also learnt that he has sort of a character of his own and may or may not be still around.
And THEN..... we actually meet the guy!
Tumblr media
Basically in his pyjamas, what he is wearing is also basically merch from the show. The "bad girl coven" shirt and the glyph sweatpants. Thats something any nerd from the show would want to wear. He has a dad bod and the first thing he does is making a joke to Luz about himself. Yes he is wise and does give Luz a lot of advice and her crazy powers, showing that he is very powerful even when he is trapped in the inbetween. But he never considers himself better than Luz or anyone else on the isles. He is very down to earth!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also the reveal that they dont take gender that serious but is totally fine with the title "dad" cuz thats what King has been calling him the whole time. All while he chuckles!
Tumblr media
The Titan: "What? Have you been drinking Edas home brewed apple blood?"
When Luz presents them the idea that she "might just be as bad as Belos" he immediately asks her if shes serious about that in a joking manner.
And, of course, the cherry on top for all of this, is the one direct message they could send to their child. The only thing The Titan could EVER tell directly to King! And what is it?
Tumblr media
King: "... I loaf you...? I loaf you!"
Tumblr media
King: "... Oh hahaha! BREAD pun!"
Its a DAD joke! And King loves it!
I think none of us really knew who the Titan was and if hed ever show up ever on screen. (Honestly I myself thought its more likely that we would see Evylin and Caleb.) But whatever our idea from the Titan mightve been, Im sure no one of us thought it would be like this. The Titan turned out to be just some guy. Just a being that happend to slip into all of this mess. I think we can all learn from that that some things arent as big as they seem (literally.)
This reveal was awesome and I love that the show took this route with him.
evelyn's curse & philip's self-inflicted glyphs
it's probably a little silly to speculate now, when the finale is just around the corner and i could so easily be proved wrong. but if i'm proved wrong, it means we got more backstory- i love backstory! if i'm right, i get to be smug- and i also love being smug! >:)
after the events of thanks to them, it is all but confirmed that belos/philip's unnaturally long lifespan is at least in part due to his regular consumption of palisman essence
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but a neat theory i've seen is that philip first began consuming palismen in this way to mitigate the effects of the final spell/curse that evelyn cast on him
Tumblr media
(let's just ignore that the high-res version of this painting seems to give philip the same profile/silhouette as caleb. pretty sure that's just an artistic goof.)
however, i have always been firmly of the opinion that philip was killing witches and stealing their palismen even before his showdown with caleb and evelyn.
now it is probably always going to be up for debate what the chronological order of the hollow mind paintings is. for example, the memory painting here, of philip seeming to lure two witches (with their staves in hand!) into a corner/alley/side street could very easily take place before philip finds his brother in the demon realm, or after
Tumblr media
and judging by the length of his beard and ponytail alone, i would normally assume that the painting that features philip consuming a palisman takes place after caleb's murder
Tumblr media
however, there a couple details to keep in mind here. for starters, he is still wearing his original mask. and secondly, the memories featured in a person's mindscape are significant. my best guess would be that this was the first time philip destroyed a palisman and discovered the power one can harness by doing so.
at the very least, belos has been consuming their essence since well before lilith and luz encountered him as philip in elsewhere and elsewhen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
more than anything though, the giveaway to me is in the memories of philip's first meeting with caleb and evelyn in the demon realm- note his glowing blue eyes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now by the time philip ascends to the throne as emperor belos, we know he has three forms of magic at his disposal:
glyphs
the lifeforce/soul/energy/essence of palismen
the power taught/bestowed by the collector
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but this is early days yet! that magical blue glow had to come from somewhere. and well...
Tumblr media
hmm.
i've spent a lot of time discussing caleb, evelyn, and philip with @ashanimus and so allow me to piggyback off of her original theory here: that evelyn's curse was to externalize philip's monstrous actions- past, and future.
Tumblr media
and even though we see that philip/belos largely maintains his humanoid form from day to day, and has much finer control over this goop than one might expect
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it is not a perfect control.
Tumblr media
but then we have to wonder, how is he able to control it at all?
Tumblr media
philip wittebane is uniquely adept at combining glyphs in extremely complex ways to get his desired results
Tumblr media
we know the glyphs on his arm must have some purpose- he would never have cut into himself in this permanent way unless he was sure of the effects. and when he does carve the glyphs directly into his own flesh
Tumblr media
he bleeds green.
that isn't human blood, not anymore. that is magical rot and decay, his evil made physically manifest, a warning to anyone who crosses his path.
Tumblr media
another layer to my theory lies in the ending scene of philip elsewhere and elsewhen; philip is highly agitated, the glyphs are glowing, and he scrambles on hands and knees to find an intact palisman to crack apart. and then, he very noticeably calms down. and even in present day with the collector's magic to call his own, belos is still consuming palismen on the regular.
Tumblr media
rather than consuming palismen as a direct means of keep evelyn's curse at bay, as some have speculated, i'd like to believe that palisman essence gives his magic- his glyphs- a noticeable power boost.
and he would then create yet another vicious cycle for himself.
philip would need to keep destroying palismen without end- not only to keep himself preserved well past his expiration date, but in order to maintain the strength of these containment glyphs. and in doing so, he would increase the effects of this curse in turn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So on his Twitter, JBO just released this in-universe poem to the Titan, which he claims will be displayed alongside other art pieces at the gallery nucleus for TOH this Saturday... I’ll add a transcript at the end, but first, let me TRY to analyze...?
Okay, that bit at the beginning mentions bathyspheres, or rather bathysFEARS, because Boiling Isles puns. Love them, truly. The mention of an early version of Apple Blood is interesting, and at first made me consider that Evelyn wrote this; But we know this was discovered DURING the late Deadwardian era. Of course, an entire era is a wide range of time, and this was late into it; So while we know Evelyn was alive during Deadwardian times, it’s possible she did write it, and eventually by the end of her era, her poem was rediscovered.
If this is Evelyn’s work, then the jab towards humans at the end, musing that if they did originate from the Titan, it’d be from its butt, is interesting; Suggesting that Evelyn may have had a prejudice towards humans at first, but then changed her mind with Caleb. Or most tragically, loved Caleb, but after Philip ruined everything, developed a soured feeling for the rest of her husband’s species. However, the intro does mention it’s the EARLIEST poetry of the isles, so Evelyn probably isn’t the writer; But maybe her ancestor is?
The prose was... SOMETHING, but from what I can discern, the narrator is asking King’s dad (who of course doesn’t respond) where witches and demons came from, if they were born of his flesh, descended from the parasites and scavengers that ate it, etc. I think the narrator is suggesting that witches and demons were born of the eyes in particular? I need a dictionary for this... I wonder if this is a hint that we’ll get info on this in S3, perhaps by whoever wrote the Unauthorized History of the Boiling Isles?
Tumblr media
Still, the speculation and invoking of the Titan’s brain is interesting; If witches DID first arise from the eye sockets of the Titan, then perhaps the first civilization of the Boiling Isles (circa the Hecktaceous period?) lived within the skull... And thus, the first witches may have created the lair where the Collector’s disc was later found by Philip, Luz, and Lilith.
The first generation may have honored the Titan’s wishes by constructing this prison for his enemy, the Grand Huntsman; And the mention of eyes (of which they are two) and the fact that there are two confirmed Collector discs, makes me wonder if the discs were fashioned from the Titan’s eyes... Regardless, early witches must’ve then migrated out of the skull through the eyes (leaving behind a prehistoric Stonesleeper), and reverence for the Titan and/or memories of this area as a birthplace for their kind led them to deem it sacred ground.
The narrator also speculates, I believe, that the Titan’s ‘nodes’ are still active in some form, perhaps alluding to the idea that King’s dad IS still conscious to some extent and influencing things, such as who sees Glyphs or not; Hence why looking at his face from the Knee is necessary. All this mention of dreaming also reminds me of the final episode’s title, Watching and Dreaming, which makes me wonder if King will get his dad’s consciousness and memories involved for the series finale; Or if it’ll be his own utilized, as he discovers an ability to create life from himself? Does this connect to Jean-Luc’s species?
(Also, if witches did originate from the eye sockets/skull of the Titan, inheriting the power of sapience from his brain to become a civilization; Did the Titan Trappers arise from other Titans, and aren’t aware of/don’t care about this?)
As for a transcript (under the cut);
ANTHOLOGY OF BOILING ISLES POETRY
THE TITANSONG TROVE
Discovered during the Late Deadwardian Era on a bathysfearic expedition, the Titansong Trove is a cache of the earliest extant poetry of the Boiling Isles. The Trove is comprised of eleven complete poems addressed to the Titan, along with dozens of scraps. Nothing is known the author, except that the parchments are saturated with aepleoffal, an early precursor to Apple Blood.
TITANSONG I. (DREAMING PSALM)
From what rot-region did we rise, Ruler
of all abiding in ageless aeons,
longlost, lore-scant?
-
(Ruler? As like that
hemmed-in horizons were thine heritage--
Or, born beastly and then badgered
unto a dreary doom, down-falling into
scalding seas with stones side-slashing.
-
Yet lordly and low alike, on death leak
putrid pus, parasite-packed, potent, smearing
sickly-sheened stains, sights at which
strong witches wobble and warworn demons
void appleblood-vaults all over, everywhere.
O, O, O, they say, O, O.
*A morbid misstep sends corpsejuice mouthward*
O, no, O, no. O, it got in my mouth.)
-
Digression done. Now digestion:
For torpid time turned torrid
thy formidable folds. And formerly
enmarbled muscles melted to mire.
Battered bones broke; then, with boldness,
miniscule motes made a flesh-feast.
Such wondrous waste did they somewhen sup,
little by little old limits were lost,
till they were then: We. That is how
marvelously magilicious
was thy tumescent Titanglut.
-
So. Where didst we wax? Where now are owed
our odes of awe?
-
...Okay, honestly?
Tis less to laud, and really more like:
Damn it, divulge, dude. Just tell us!
Not even poeming here. We just want to know where we came from
and why and everything else. Secrets. Answers. Everything.
Anything! Please. Come on. Hello? Hello? Hello?
-
So suspected: silence supreme.
Maw motionless, mind sense-mined,
eyes ember-empty. Empty sockets...
As if... eaten all away.
-
Well, then:
Could we not claim, conceivably,
eye-rot excrescence our earliest eaves?
Think of them: those wriggling strings
that float the fluids, forever fitful,
even with eyes closed, ever-lingering,
...Bombarded by outer beauty,
wilded by brainwaves, darkling dreamwoven....
-
Would not these nodes, when “ever” ended,
oscillate on? And as thine orbs’
juice turned jelly, clouding with junk,
vital vitreal echoes prevail?
Resonant, reminding those remnants that
beyond filthbogged bariers, a
beaming beacons of new beauty.
Movement-making, masticating,
upwards we urged. Up, up, out-eating.
To surface. Silence. Skimming the slime,
doused in dreamdew, our own day dawned.
-
Well? What say you? Were we thus born?
...Of course. Onlysilence. Well... one
thing is totally true at least for sure:
If Humans were hewn also from thine hide,
‘twas thy butt begat those bozos. Ha.
Haha. Haha.
Aaahaha. Ahhhhh.
Got ‘em.
”I must go now. My planet needs me.” -King, probably
(what's that under the collector's bed? i freaked out a little bit when I first saw it, because I thought it was philip, but nah, it looks like another stuffed animal. but can you imagine the kind of damage philip could do if he managed to possess the collector??)
Tumblr media
As the space cherub and his island-in-training best friend take a break from their game of pretend, we cut to Boscha, who’s right in the middle of her own game of pretend. She is playing at being emperor. The school is her castle, and the gym is her throne room, complete with masked soldiers standing guard. She’s even got a special guard standing by her side, one with a shoulder pad on only one shoulder.
You know, when Kikimora said she wanted to be the new Golden Guard, I don’t think this is what she had in mind.
Because that’s Kikimora, right? It’s got to be, and the big guy is her Abomatron.
Speaking of Kikimora, I was cleaning up my desk a little while back when I found a note I had written and then completely forgot about, I think it might’ve been in response to an ask I got but never answered. The note read as thus:
”It’s ironic that Kikimora wanted to be the Golden Guard, seeing as the only privilege afforded the Golden Guard is that Belos will kill you personally, a courtesy he did not extend to Kikimora… and it came back to haunt him.”
(except with more misspellings)
Tumblr media
I gotta admit, as far as false names goes, Miki and Roka are kinda funny. We love a good word scramble. Actually, I don’t, I’m no good at those. This one wasn’t so hard because I knew the answer.
The thing I’m wondering though is how Kiki managed to fit that weird hand on her head under that wig.
The idea of Boscha taking them in after ”the incident” is reminiscent of the false backstory given the Golden Guard in season two.
I should probably also mention that Kiki-I’m sorry, I meant ”Miki.” When Jerbo was putting forth his plans to make things not suck for everyone, Miki interjected, saying that doing so would take up her time… and implying that without the constant protection of ”Miki” and ”Roka,” Boscha would be turned into a puppet and collected as well.
Tumblr media
YO, is she gonna try to recreate the teleportation circle Philip used in Elsewhere and Elsewhen?!? See, I told you guys, I told you! I told you it’d be so cool if Luz or Lilith memorized it and used it, and no they’re doing it!
I mean, hopefully. Weeeeell… aside from the possibility that the teleportation circle will just outright fail (there was what, some twenty glyphs to it?), Kikimora might also have some objections. She might still have a grudge towards Hunter, for one thing. Or all the kids, for all the trouble they’ve caused her.
Tumblr media
I dunno about you guys, but this is giving me Hollow Mind vibes. In the sense that I’m gonna spend way too long squinting at paintings in the background. I’ll be somewhat brief, because as per usual, I’ll probably get a better look at at least some of them in a sec.
Let’s see, what do we have here…
On the right side of the screen (King’s left) it appears to be mostly depictions of various space-related things. There is one with a shooting star or meteorite about to hit a planet’s surface, which might be the Collectors arriving at this world
The left side of the screen (King’s right) is where things get interesting. Going from closest to the screen to furthest away, we have…
A painting of three Collectors looking at what I assume is a depiction of the Demon Realm planet. There is a wee little collector coming up to them. This one is, aside from being smaller than the others, purple, where the others are blue. The little one is obviously supposed to be The Collector, our little Lord of the Fireflies.
The next painting shows two collectors holding and trying on Titan skulls. In the background is either a Titan, a Titan trapper, or the third collector disguised as a Titan.
The third painting looks an awful lot like the mural we saw way back in Echoes of the Past. If we go by the ”collector dressed as a Titan” theory in the previous paragraph, then this painting might be depicting that collector in combat against a Titan. At the feet of the Titan is an egg, and we can see the head of a smaller Titan. So far, this seems to fall in line with the theory I put forth a little while ago, about the Titan Trappers worshipping not THE Collector, our Prince of Plastic, but another collector. One who gave them the idea of dressing up like their prey.
The fourth painting shows the three big collectors throwing away the littlest collector.
The fifth painting shows the little collector surrounded by baby Titans. D’aw!
The sixth… I really can’t tell, but I think I can see the three faces of the three tall collectors. Maybe it’s them leaving this planet and choosing to abandon the little one.
.....Oh and warning of opinion. I ask no hate, disagree okay but I don’t want a fight. This is my opinion/my thoughts....
Spoilers...........
.......Spoiler warning.........
Last one............
..................
............ You’ve been warned....
First of all kudos to Dana Terrace and the animation team. Sooooo many amazing moments, its no wonder she had to take a break. Given the crunch time Disney put her on, she had to work SO hard to get what she wanted/or needed to make this finale great! Just everything was perfect! I was on the edge of my seat and all I wanted was for Luz and everyone to be okay (except maybe Belos... screw you Philip 8B)
Anything that surprised me... I guess that someone was right that it was a titan in that realm Luz saw. I also admit was somewhat surprised the Collector didn’t really know about what happened in regards to King’s species. Though it makes me wonder... what happened to their siblings. They mentioned them when Luz died... so ... what became of them...
Though speaking of Luz’s death... why did she die when touched by whatever that attack was by Belos? Buttt... not Raine? I mean granted he used it as an attack but the attack/fungi whatever was affecting Collector and they were genuinely worried for Eda when it spread. I mean I’m not complaining I wanted Raine to live for Eda. But I’m... “how come Raine wasn’t affected?” Raine was just put under restraint?oO
I admit Luz’s death really got me. On so many levels for her heart. And the irony, cause the Collector was only trying to do what she advised him on. (no not blaming him just saying big picture cruel irony). But also dang was somewhat impressed when Eda and King went beast mode on Belos for that.
And just random was also impressed that Amity was able to wake up/or fight that toy spell the Collector put on them. I dunno just did pointed out that Amity is stronger than she’s given credit as a witch. Luz’s ultimate titan magic/witch mode was both beautiful and AWESOME! Just fantastic design.
Loved King’s dad, lol. Feel like in another life King’s dad could had been roomies with Eda. LOVEDDDD the epilogue, just was glad to see Luz did finish school and got a writers scholarship :). Though.. seeing that Hooty photo... does that mean the human world knows about the demon realm? Or did they just do more visits now that the portal’s fixed. Also Hooty anime eyes so cute:3!
Also was happy that she and Vee graduated together. Because that meant Camila adopted Vee and loved her just like her own child. And omg they had a photo of Stringbean in a cute pet hat XD! Classic... though who was Vee playing baseball/or softball with... Masha? Loved everyone’s grown designs:). And the Flapjack tattoos so sweet:3 !
Sooo happy for Hunter that he’s got a happy ending. And I assume a family with both Darius and the Clawthorne’s. NO ONE will not convince me he’s become part of both families. And his new Palisman is a bluejay, sweet! Uhh thought it was funny/cute Lilith considered putting a disco room? (that corner was hard to read). That we also got to see her Raven harpy design? (she is a raven right?oO).
Also loveedddd her quinceanera party they did. A very Owl House style Cinderella dress complete with that adorable mouse XD. Loved how the Bat Queen has one of her kids going emo/goth?.  Was I shocked the magic was returning/glyph wise... no. Not really magic’s not exactly nature. But it makes me think of that Jurassic Park quote “life finds a way”.
Also HUNTLOWWWWWWWWWW!! Haha sorry/not sorry.
That being said did I see anything I wanted done differently or wished could had been changed. Don’t get pissed I LOVED the finale. But I can admit it was rushed. But I’m also noting that I AM NOT blaming Dana Terrace or the crew/staff... who do I blame? YOU DISNEY! I FUCKING BLAME YOU!! AND I WILL CONTINUE TO BLAME YOU UNLESS YOU DO RIGHT BY THE CREATOR/AND STAFF.
Moving onnn... I’m just gonna say what I wish could had been done. Again I do not blame Dana Terrace. I know Disney did her an EXTREME wrong and she was not even given a PROPER third season. Unlike her other tv shows... like Big City Greens.. who got a fourth season and a movie >3>. I know she was crunched for time and was just dealing the hand that was given to her.
So to start....
I’m gonna bite the bullet and I admit the finale instantly made me wanna see ships explored/or finished.
Like Alador’s marriage... we never saw Odalia so I’m gonna assume he divorced her. And its clear the children have nothing to do with her but still wanted some clarity.
Also... was there suppose to be a hint of Darius/Alador.... I dunno. Felt like there was. I’m not against the idea. Could have gone with the flow that they were rivals/with chemistry. Plus heyyy new stepdad for Hunter.
Also... whats Steve’s relationship with Lilith? No not like ship... I think he’s too young(ages aren’t my strongest suit unless clarified better). Was he suppose to be her Luz?oO
Kinda wish The Blight twins could had been explored... would had like to had known Ed’s date who were theyyy...
Also what was Viney/Jerbo’s relationship. I don’t even care if they weren’t dating. Just was dying to know the story of why she was so pissed at him to call him traitor once oO
And hate to be the dummy but did Eda/Raine get married? oO I didn’t see a ring.. or do they do something else for Demon World?
Would Gus had found an love interest? Or Vee? Or Lilith... again I’m biting the bullet ship idea wise. Or were Gus and Lilith suppose to be asexuals? (will get to Vee later)
Wish we could had known MORE about the Coven Heads. We got a little but not much. I don’t even know why Vitmir wanted the throne? I guess I get why with Terra and Adrian dude.
We also don’t know what became of the rest of the Coven
How did Kikimora go from hating the group to putting her feelings aside and helping Lilith?
What became of the Bat Queen and the palisman during Collector’s brief reign. I never saw them turned into toys...also would Luz ever find her owner. Part of me almost wonders if it was originally the Titan(aka King’s dad)
Speaking of which wish he and King could had met.
In addition... IS NO ONE GONNA TALK ABOUT HOW A HOOTY THING IS IN HIS EYE?!!Was that suppose to hint he made Hooty? Was Hooty there for him to guard King?
What became of Collector’s family? Are they the reason that Owl curse got spread.... What was that final print in Collector’s book... felt like they avoided that for a reason would it had summoned them? Or caused more harm?
Also why haven’t Eda/Lilith been free of the curse? I assume since Alador is finding a way to undo the draining spell, that means its possible for them to be free as well.
Anything else...
I admit I wanted to know more of what became of Caleb... Yes I know the rumor was Dana Terrace wanted to do a prequel going into his and Philip’s background... but Disney is a moneygrubbing little worm.... so unless they think they’ll make more money out of that.... I’m not holding my breath. Would have liked to know what became of his wife/girlfriend Evelyn? Were fans right is she the ancestor of Eda’s family.
And I’ll address an elephant in the room... Philip himself. I do feel his ending was a bit rushed for the finale. Yes he gave us a fight but his literal end felt... sorry “Starvstheforcesofevil/ Ludo” set. Kinda mooted if you get my drift..... what would I had wanted?
I admit I dunno... Unlike some of the fandom I have mixed feelings with Belos/Philip. On one hand he’s an amazing/ EVIL villain. On the other hand... I don’t have a lot of sympathy for him. I had more for the Collector. Now again this could had been because Terrace had more planned and that was crushed due to Disney. Its just I dunno how to explain it... I did see the possiblity of a “oh redeemable villain” it was done with Andrias from Amphibia... but Andrias had more hesitation even in his actions.... Belos didn’t really have that. We weren’t given a Darth Vader ending where he regrets or we see his “spirit”. And while I do think even if she wanted a prequel... I don’t think she was mincing words with us as fans. When she had King’s father call him out on his behavior. We can see what triggered/pushed him all we want. But at the end of the day, Philip gave up his humanity.
He quit caring, he may have been innocent once. But he threw it away for Christian radicalism, angry that his brother wasn’t following the script, and was willing to commit MASS genocide for it. At most I think those visions of his brother and the golden guards were the closest he had to coming to terms with his past and chose to ignore it. I dunno what I would have liked for his ending... maybe see that his plans would always fail? Maybe see a spirit of Caleb call him out one more time? Or I dunno something other than a simple stomp 8B. I dunno at most all I can say... would have LOVED to see Camila hit him for hurting her child.
Also... I do wish if the series had continued Vee could have been involved more. I feel like from that tarot card reading from Masha. That it wasn’t just aimed at Luz, I feel like the story hinted she would be involved with this story/fight against Belos.
see Vee/Masha end up together. Sorry/not sorry but they felt like role reverse Amity/Luz.
Wish Luz could have made friends with more humans, feel like due to the obvious storyline she wasn’t given a chance to bond with the new kids/or Masha’s camp friends and they felt like they were important. Heck they could have helped her. I think but thats my opinion.
I WANTED A HUNTLOW KISS!!! buttt I’ve learned from anime it isn’t all about the kissing. Just acknowledging can be enough. I think thats why we didn’t see Raeda kiss... or did I miss that?oO
Hmm I think thats it. Again no hate please. Will delete if I do 8B.
I am gonna miss this show and wish we had more. //le sigh//
Again thank you Dana Terrace and the cast/staff of Owl House for making that the best show! I wish we could have had more.
Today I’m thinking about *spins wheel* how much Philip did/did not know about Luz (and Lilith) after the events of Elsewhere & Elsewhen.
I’ve come to the conclusion that some things he knew right away and some things he realized over time.
(this gets VERY LONG and ramble-y and so much of it is going under a cut)
He knows almost immediately that she’s a time traveler. Like when she says she’s heard tale of his exploits he wonders, likely because by that point his “exploits” are getting run out of most towns - not something someone would be excited to talk about let alone go out of their way to protect him over. By now he’s been writing his personal journal extremely deceptively, painting himself as a lost, humble traveler just looking for a way home. The fact that this girl sees him in that light... might mean that that is where she has heard tale of him...
He’s still not SURE-sure, not from that alone, and it’s not enough that he wants anything to do with her... until she mentions the Collector.
I don’t think the Collector has ever been anything one would call common knowledge, even in Pre-Emperor Belos Era Boiling Isles. What’s more, assuming their first mention in the journal is when Philip is writing about the very same time-travel adventure Luz is on (given the scratched out figures of who we would later realize are Luz and Lilith at the beginning), it’s very likely that Philip hasn’t even written that he’s looking for the Collector yet in his journal but somehow this girl knows about it. That has definite Implications.
(It’s still not enough for him not be perfectly willing to sacrifice them. He never has cared to put anything over his own goals.)
Likely, it’s not long after these events that he donates his journal to the library, knowing it’s going to have to get into her hands somehow. And he’s not sure yet why he needs to meet her (he’s grateful for the light glyph but undoubtedly he’d have found it on his own eventually) but for all his using it mockingly, I imagine he does feel there was some destiny to this.
He figures out she’s human when she uses glyphs. Like he said, he thought he was the only one on the isles. Then, if he needed any more proof, she literally demands to know how he’s making his portal to the Human Realm before Lilith fuckin’ decks him.
Speaking of-
He knows Lilith by name - Luz uses it more than once within earshot. However, I am of the opinion that that’s really all he knows. He doesn’t even know if Lilith is also human or a witch, with her ears covered the same as Luz’s and the fact that Lilith also has to use glyphs at this point in the story.
(He calls the two of them witches angerly at the end but I think that’s just from a bigotry standpoint and not so much a biological one. Anyone he doesn’t like gets to be called a witch. Also its a Disney show he can’t call them anything worse lol)
So I don’t actually think he knows who Lilith is at the time the Emperor Coven tryouts with her and Eda. I don’t think he’s incredibly plugged into those trials so to speak. Largely because I don’t think the tryouts were for like, as high up a position as Lily had by the time we see her in Season 1. She was trying out to be a Steve essentially. I don’t think Philip particularly cares who his Steves are.
However, I think he notices her shortly after that and starts to put two and two together. He isn’t sure what it means yet, but he’s fairly sure if she’s here that human girl will be soon to follow and he needs to know the second that happens. So he promotes her, raises her in the ranks of the Coven until she is his right hand, until he can keep an eye on her every move and furthermore know exactly when Luz appears.
Because I think at this point he either lost his portal door, or his brother had made the door and his witch family hid it after he was killed, and he’s at the point in his Day of Unity plans where he needs it. He knows the human must have access to that door or another if she comes into Boiling Isles.
(If the Clawthornes are Wittebro descendants like I assume/hope, I don’t think Philip actually knows this or else he’d have kept a much, much closer look on that family over the centuries than I think he did - so he doesn’t connect them to the portal door as much as he connects Luz to it.)
(The one hole in this is the fact that Eda is like, obviously selling Human Trash throughout the first season and it’s gotta be fairly obvious that she’s got a way to enter that realm. My only thought here is that, as we saw a glimpse of in Through The Looking Glass Ruins, sometimes Human Trash really does just wash up on the shores of the isles and maybe people just assume that’s where Eda gets her stuff)
So anyway, Philip knows Luz called Lilith “Aunt,” and knows he can leverage a lot of different things here to get what he wants. Dangle a cure for Eda’s curse in front of Lilith and keep her loyal and also get a powerful wild witch captured and made an example of. Promise the safety of her mentor-mother figure in front of Luz in return for the portal door.
And lastly, I think when Luz destroys that door, he finally understands the full cycle of their meeting in the past. Because of course. She wouldn’t have demanded to know how he had created the door if she’d had her own. He’s brought about the exact scenario that will lead her to going back and meeting him to begin with.
And so his next direct words to her, through Terra, are that he is “looking forward to meeting her.”
He heard her
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think another reason why he figured out that they lied, other than the crab thing being ridiculous for him maybe, is because Luz called her 'Aunt Dirtrude' a different name
Tumblr media
And maybe, because of this, he remembers the name Lilith. Lilith, along with Eda, had tryouts for the Emperor's coven in the future. Maybe that's also why Belos/Philip further recognized her, and maybe pulled some strings about the owl beast curse and what she thought she had to sacrifice
I wonder how much of it was his own doing, how far did he plan ahead
alright there’s so much I need to scream about with this episode, but this in particular is like…staggering fneidnend And it’s not even just the fact that Belos removed his mask, it’s his wording here. (Please do forgive my rambling, it’s 3 am)
This is a man that, for the entirety of this series, has refused to show an iota of weakness. He keeps everything about himself under careful wraps, and only Hunter has seen a few things. When his curse starts to act up he leaves so no one sees him transform, and he’s so paranoid of being perceived as weak or incapable of something, that he deliberately twists his words if he makes some error to make it seem like it was something he intended all along.
I know he lied to Lilith about curing Eda, but I’m inclined to believe he actually can’t do it (that’s a whole different post on its own) and he rather would prefer to be seen as a liar then people realizing his powers have its limits. When he got duped by Luz, he made it out to be that The Titan told him to spare Eda, rather than admit he’d been tricked by a child. He’s always wearing his mask and his hood, always wanting to be seen as simply a symbol of authority and nothing more. He’s so afraid of anyone seeing beyond that, that even when his mask winds up fucking cracked for the first while he still wears it, despite how unprofessional that probably looked. And I still don’t know why he wore the cracked mask when clearly he could just get another. The gold conceals everything, he never has to worry about the public seeing anything he doesn’t want them to. He remains as he always intends. A pillar of unwavering strength.
But here…
Here we see, for the very first time, him actually displaying some…vulnerability. For someone like him, someone who has only striven to be seen as perfection, to admit he’s been afraid? Afraid to show himself? That is big. Even though he doesn’t tell them why he’s been afraid, they see quite clearly it’s because of the cursed mark on his face. Him showing them something he’s secretly been so self conscious about is a huge deal for him. Not only just that, but him admitting the only reason he isn’t scared now is because of them. (If you’re so grateful dude, can you maybe stop killing them? 😕) I really can’t help but wonder what his response would have been if they’d ridiculed him for his looks. …I don’t want to know what his response would have been honestly fjdifjdkmf This also turns our own preconceived notions on its head, because we see Belos doesn’t mind showing himself to be vulnerable in certain circumstances. It makes this character so much more nuanced…and interesting.
This makes me wonder what point it was Philip started wearing this mask—if it was right after he’d been cursed, or if it was only once he’d had his appearance ridiculed.
(It’s also really interesting how he talks about his subjects as if he has a positive community relationship with them and hasn’t been tossing war crimes under the rug all these years lmao)
ANOTHER REASON I WAS SCREAMING ABOUT HIM REVEALING HIS FACE, oh that was so deliberately done for us because Luz was there to see it. …And I can’t imagine why Dana planned that…
Something I like about The Owl House is that it seems to really trust the people who watch it to figure things out. The last episode didn’t really bring many new revelations to light, it just more or less confirmed things that people had already figured out, things the show wanted you to find out because it had clues hidden all over the place. Then it rewards you for paying attention by saying you figured it out, it didn’t pull any last second twists that exist only for the sake of being twists.
That being said, we did get a lot about Belos’ backstory, like a lot, all told through paintings scattered through the background, to the point where pretty much his whole history is spelled out. It actually makes me wonder if we are going to get any dedicated episode flashbacks based on this period, because it was so detailed that it makes me think we might not. On one hand I can see a situation being where something like that was planned but cut, either because of some of the more darker implications about it, or it was supposed to be in the third season which was massively cut down and this was their way of getting around that.
Either way, I hope we get something because I am curious about the relationship Belos had with his brother and how that has affected how he views other people.
Like the Golden Guard, he clearly does not like them, he has no problem killing and replacing them, and if some of the theories I have been seeing are true, he keeps making them younger so they are easier to manipulate and exploit. On the other hand he keeps making these simulacrums, despite how much trouble they put him through, despite the time and resources that goes into them, and how there doesn’t seem to be any Big Plan for them, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Hunter, the one who looked the most like his brother, is the one he thought would last the longest. I think that despite everything that happened, that Belos still had a strong love for his brother, and did everything he could to bring him back, but there is still this lingering resentment towards him, which leads to him having this warped sentimentality towards them.
Which leads me to a second point regarding another popular theory, that the witch that the brother fell in love with was a Clawthorne ancestor. If this theory ends up being trues, what does that say about his relationship with Lilith? He recognized Luz was the same person he met when he was Philip, but how long did it take for him to recognize Lilith? Was it before or after she joined the Emperor’s Coven? Is her being the leader of his own coven a coincidence, or did he give her that position for the same reasons he keeps trying to recreate his brother? To keep some aspect of the brother he misses around him at all times, while paradoxically resenting him? Because I can’t imagine a bigger metaphorical middle finger than having descendant of your brother helping you genocide the world and people he fell in love with.
Hollow Mind
OH BOY WHAT AN EPISODE
Confirmation that Raine, Darius and Eber are all working together! I am SO happy Eber is a part of the rebellion!
So thankful that Flapjack (also nice to get his name officially stated) didn't go with.
I loved the twist that Kid Belos was really inner Belos. But all those poor palismen. I wonder how Belos will be affected now that he captured them. Will he become stronger?
And we got to meet The Collector!
So Hunter is a grimwalker and Belos has made a lot. And they've all eventually betrayed him.
And we got some lore about Wittebro, it wasn't directly stated what happened to him but if you looked at the paintings in the background you can piece together what happened:
-They were close growing up and raised to be witch hunters.
-They met the witch that took them to the demon realm
-Wittebro fell in love with a witch (Maybe the witch that took them there? And it was most likely a Clawthorne) and the demon realm.
-Belos didn't like this so he confronted them.
-When Wittebro refused to change his mind, a fight ensued and Belos killed him.
Loved that they didn't go with the "Villain had a bad childhood and that's why they're like this" route, Belos was always an asshole who became a murderous asshole.
Nice to see when Hunter told Belos about Eclipse Lake and gave him the key.
I loved the scene where Belos told Luz he's really Philip. And now nobody can deny that! I so hope Luz tells Lilith that she punched the Emperor.
I loved that Raine secretly helped Eda with the spell to get inside Belos mind to rescue Luz through giving her flowers. Eda I hope you figure out it was Raine! Also Darius' reaction to Hooty saying that Hunter is in there too was great.
So glad Hunter didn't get devoured, that would have destroyed the fandom. Sad that he ran away from the Owl House (though I loved that Eda immediately wanted to help him). I wonder if he'll eventually go to Willow's? Staying at the Owl House would have been dangerous given that Belos knows where Luz lives.
And now Luz knows Belos has the portal door, I wonder if she'll try to use his door to get home or will she continue to make her own? And Eda used the last of the titan blood to rescue Luz.
Clouds on the Horizon!
            …I know we called Alador a rat man, but THIS is ridiculous! Seriously, how’d he even do that, I’m confused?
         LUMITY KISS LUMITY KISS THE WAY THE ANIMATION UPGRADED!!! The animation was so SMOOTH the animators knew it had to count. The way Luz’s vines were so FLOWER filled like from Reaching Out, responding to what Luz wanted as she mentioned at that episode when showing how to grow flowers… The Lumity and Raeda parallels! The twins! EMIRA AND EDRIC NNNOOOO!!!!! I can’t believe they got put away for the final battle this literally hurts so much, and what about Bump and the other students? Not my Blight twins…
         ODALIA THAT BITCH! Doesn’t Odalia realize SHE’s gonna die too… Or does she really think Belos will exempt her and Alador’s sigils?! I was half-expecting a twist where it’s revealed that Odalia didn’t have a sigil this entire time, making her all the more deplorable, especially in light of her husband having one… Glad we got to see a look at Oracle magic, or rather some confirmation in its ability to summon ghosts to fight with!
         The way Odalia left… It kinda feels like it’s alluding to her finding a new partner, but I’m not sure if we’ll even get to see her again? IS IT GONNA BE TIBBLES?!?! That’d be an embarrassing for her as an ending revisit to all of the cast members… Also, apparently someone’s keeping an eye on the rebels?! Is there a turncloak, is it Eberwolf?! Or Darius… No… NO! Maybe it’s just the Oracle Head using some sophisticated magic… Maybe teaming up with the Potion head to make a scrying potion? Oh fuck…
         LILITH! I love seeing Lilith voluntarily step up to take the fall for her sister this time, what a WONDERFUL culmination to her arc! And King, wanting to help but he’s still the youngest of all and if he bleeds, that could be a revealing liability… This episode seems to confirm the implication that Belos is manipulating even the Collector as well, so will the Collector preemptively betray him in retaliation? He doesn’t seem to realize King can hear him but maybe he does… Either way, that connection is def coming into play! And the Collector pointing out to Belos how much HE’S changed, and he’s still having freakouts… How the human world has likely changed!
         Okay! So they’re not ignoring Hunter’s identity crisis as a grimwalker, or Luz’s guilt for helping Philip! Glad to see that confirmation and I loved seeing them team up together… Also I TOTALLY saw that switcheroo as soon as ‘Luz’ did the golden warp TO PROTECT WILLOW!!! Speaking of which, Willow new design! And Gus, too, flaunting that trophy he took from Adrian! My boi I love him… And just his and Hunter’s teamup, him using that same darkness spell from Bria against Kikimora! I saw it coming, Luz was bamboozling Kikimora as a means to get to the castle! Poor Kiki, she got DEMOTED instead of promoted… YIKES. Imagine if after all this, as a cruel joke, Belos DOES keep his promise and let Kikimora live out of a sick and twisted sense of humor.
         Odalia that BITCH. I’m glad to see Amity get PISSED at her mom so openly, and I’m glad to see Alador go against her! With him destroying the factory, that’s him destroying any more Abomatons in the future… Hopefully we can see him override the Abomatons against Belos this finale, that will DEFINITELY help because Belos has made the mistake of positioning them in fairly critical places, like his own throne room during a private conversation with Hunter!
         I hope this finale we get to see the remaining Coven Heads, at least voices, names, and a brief show of powers. A part of me is hoping we’ll see the remaining four side with Belos in Season 3 so we can learn about them, but I’m not holding my breath… Dammit Disney. And RAINE! Raine wanting to protect Eda, that last banter… Luz asking them to look after her, Raine never needing to be told that but. I REALLY don’t like where this is going. I’m getting kinda scared and concerned for another cliffhanger where Eda is sacrificed… But hey, at least we got Katya hanging out with Luz and King for once, and a look at her beetle palisman! Yes! I’m imagining the off-screen interaction as they flew to Blight Manor.
         Oh god I’m so scared. Things are closing up… I love Luz promising a slice-of-life date and mentioning the trope. And the palisman egg! That’s SO kind of Luz to let her palisman choose that for itself… But will we not see until after the final battle? Will the egg hatch until the final crucial moment? Ngl at first I thought it was a reference to Azura’s blue staff which it could ALSO be that… Just god, I feel like there’s so much we’ve had to drop; This subplot of Odalia’s new partner, the remaining Coven Heads, the beach episode, confirmation that Steve and Mattholomule being half-brothers would be explored. The concealment stone was a nice touch…
        BUT WHO’S KEEPING EYES IS IT EBERWOLF AAKDHFKDAHDKFKGKSK or maybe. Maybe! Maybe the Oracle Head is just POSSESSING someone and there isn’t an actual traitor per se! I wish I hope… THIS CAN’T BE IT! I NEED MORE DANA!!!
Title drop! Elsewhere and Elsewhen. Exploring other places in both location and time. That about sums up archeology.
My guess seems about right; Lilith wants to go on her own adventure to prove that she too can be a bad girl historian and make the greatest exhibition the Boiling Isles has ever seen!
You know what I think would make for a pretty great exhibit? The story of Philip Wittebane. I’m just saying.
The Collector! I’ve seen that moniker flash by a few times as I desperately try to fend of those evil evil spoilery posts tumblr keeps trying to throw my way and I had already gathered that it was probably referring to the character I dubbed Crescent Moon. And here appears to be the confirmation. This Collector apparently knows how to build a portal. So Lilith is looking for some cool adventure to go on and Luz is looking for a way to build a functioning portal…
A few more notes on the flashback:
First of, another reference to the Deadwardian Era of the Boiling Isles. Philip is also unsure if the year is 1660 or 1670 which… that’s a a pretty wide margin there pal. How long did Philip spend in the Demon Realm before finishing his portal?
Philip mentions his companions once again and we see two figures with him as he is about to enter The Collector’s domain. Their silhouettes are blurred so I can’t make out any details.  One is as tall as him and the other one is shorter. They must be different companions, because he lost one set of four (based on the footprints) during his journey to Eclipse Lake.
I watched a few seconds further than this and saw the flashback fade to show the mural in the ceiling of the Owl House. aNd this might be a stretch, but it makes me wonder if the thing Philip & Co. had to face was the Owlbeast. As a reminder, my current theory is that the Owlveast used to be its own being that The Collector wanted for some reason. When it fell into the Boiling Sea it turned into the curse scroll. It might’ve been that the Owlbeast belonged to The Collector and the scene in S2E8 showed how it finally escaped.
”What kind of jerk puts ’the’ in front of their name anyway?”
Haha, y-yeah, wouldn’t that be a-a stupid thing to do! What kind of self-absorbed jerk would do something like that, h-haha!
Listen, it’s not my fault, it’s not that bad in swedish I swear. I didn’t even pick this name, I was given it as a gift.
History’s Top Ten Plot Holes” is a great book title. And at number ten we’ve got ”Where did Tiny Nose go in the opening scene of this episode?”
I didn’t take screenshots of all of them because I have the feeling this liveblog is going to be long enough as it is, but I just wanna say all of the entries in Eda’s book were great. My favorite was probably Twigfoot. The fact that the animators went through the trouble of including text for all of them was great.
Anyways, Time Pools. Windows into the past. Sounds a bit similar to the idea of viewing another realm through lakes contaminated with Titan’s Blood that we’ve seen before. Eda and Lilith used to search for these pools together, presumably when they were kids. Eda doesn’t say that they ever found one, however.
