Ok so on my first watch, I was really annoyed that basically everything was on Tim for their argument and his hesitancy about Lucy being detective. But after sitting with it for a week and remembering the end of s5, where we see Lucy be super excited, and he's obviously being supportive but he's clearly very stressed about it (couch scene. in that ep with Isabel), I get it. Tim does need to work through.

We had the opportunity to see chenford walk into a wedding TOGETHER for once but nooooo (ughhh Tim looks s goooodddddd) Lucy's like "oh hey :D wait no I'm still mad at you :(" :((((

I think fb was high as balls while writing these episodes, cause wtf was that. The 2 delulu buffoons (Grace and Amelia) really out here thinking they need to give MC their blessing for her to date Ozzy lmao. Another cringe double date with my annoying sister. She gets the frickin Hideaway, us Ozzy stans really be pied by fb. The clownery continues when they ask me to pay gems to listen to Whoremelia in which she way she hooked up with Toby, just kill me at this point. And I thought that Ozzy's surprise would be asking my MC to be his girlfriend, not whatever that cooking shitshow was. We couldn't even have sex this volume without paying for gems.

1/10 and the one point was just from Ozzy looking hot with that baby thing on him.

Babe 1000% agree!! And all of a sudden fb has a memory?? To remember that we’ve been in the hideaway twice?? Like girl u didn’t even give us the option before!! I never wanted to go in before. I wanted to wait for Ozzy!! And granted the terrace fort was cute but it’s like you said you needed to pay gems just to even see that scene. ALSO BESTIE WHEN THAT MAN DIDNT ASK ME TO BE HIS GF!!!! fb started off the season making overall changes to the flow from last season to this one which was substantially better when you look at the disaster that s5 was but then casa amor tanked the season. 9 episodes and 3 weeks in casa was INSANITY. Atp who playing the game still wants casa?? Bc I sure as hell don’t. Fb SUCKS at writing casa and it seems like they forget what to do afterwards. If I didn’t have you guys I 100% would’ve stopped playing after this season bc fb clearly just doesn’t get it and they don’t care to get it.

I’m so so excited for OBX 4! Can’t wait to see how the story goes!! I was thinking, OBX diving into the Blackbeard chapter must mean there’s another 2/3 seasons planned, I just don’t see why/ how they would wrap it up in 1. I need more seasons of jiara aged up 👀 and the pogues, I’m so intrigued how it’s going to go!

Have you got any thoughts? Or wants? Jiara and the plot?

My number one want is for them to not forget that the pogues is what make this show what it is. They can do whatever crazy gold plotline that they want, but they really did drop the ball a lot on the pogues in S3 and that’s always going to be the heart of the show.

For Jiara, it’s hard because a lot of the things I wanted really badly are going to kind of unavoidably altered by the time jump. We can get some stuff in flashbacks but the stuff like the pogues teasing them before they got together is just stuff that won’t be the same. I still want it, but I wanted it more before they got together! So I’d say my main wish is that they don’t pull any of the absolutely batshit insane things with them like they did with Sarah cheating with topper in S3. And I do NOT want another love interest brought in for either of them while they’re together. I only mention this because the pates didn’t deny it’s an eventual possibility (though it was a side comment not worth worrying about too much). Now, if we could just compromise and get some casually jealous Kie over some girl trying to hit on jj, I’d be so down for that and always will be. I just don’t want anything that’s an actual plotline and it’s just a trope the pates clearly keep going back to with jarah so I’m a little wary.

As for more seasons, I could easily see a s5. It doesn’t feel like they’re planning to end it here at all. They’ve said they have another three season arc, but they also say something different every time they’re asked. Personally, I wouldn’t be mad if s5 was where it ended as of right now, if only because I’d rather it end than just go on for so long the quality becomes terrible.

TBH it hasn't been getting a lot of comments or interaction lately, so I wasn't sure if people were still following it or really thinking about it much D: I definitely am going to continue and I have pretty solid plans up through about Chapter 13, but I got caught up in good old Adult Things (got a car part stolen and had to speedrun finding a job, and by some insane miracle I landed a good one???) and had to sorta get my life together for a while. I was also pretty bummed and discouraged that the Elimetri fandom kinda fizzed out after S5, and the hype that was there after S3 and S4 seems few and far between these days </3 And when someone DOES show up and get hyped about my boys, it always seems like they get bored after like 2 weeks and vanish into the ether again D: I feel like an immortal roaming the ruins of a once great and thriving civilization akjsalksufhdulrh

BUT ALL THAT TO SAY this is really encouraging <3 <3 Love that people are still invested, and now that my life has stabilized a bit, I may actually get Chapter 7 done ^^; The canon Mexico plotline was the most underwhelming thing I've ever seen in my entire life (and Season 5 as a whole and I just...did not really Vibe for a lot of reasons), and it's frustrating because like!!! Why would you introduce this grand epic quest for Miguel to find his dad and learn about his Dark Past™️ and then have it be over in 5 minutes and reveal nothing interesting whatsoever about Hector!!! Like if the point was to have Johnny prove he could be a good father figure to Miguel after all and to cause conflict between Miguel and Sam, then there were like...ways to do that without yeeting Miguel to another country with no ultimate character development or narrative payoff :/

And they really expect me to believe Miguel and Robby sat in petty stony silence the whole several-hour drive home and didn't even try to talk through ANY of their issues??? Didn't have ANY road trip bonding whatsoever??? WHAT A FUCKING WASTE. LAME.

ANYWAYS. I know a lot of people were against the Mexico subplot from the jump (mainly because of the potential problematic directions the show could go with it I think), but I might have been in the minority in being excited for it and thinking it had a lot of potential to see a world outside the Valley. Potential which it...did not fill at all. Like at least show us what sketch-ass shit Hector actually DOES!!! My god!!! Also not Robby being like "I wanna make things right with Miguel!!!" and then...clearly not doing that. Like considering their apartment brawl later was the first time Robby has shown onscreen remorse for what he did to Miguel, Robby didn't even apologize in the car ride on the way back??? Or speak a single word to Miguel about the whole, like...Paralysis Incident??? For all Miguel knows, Robby was tagging along just for kicks ajhdsukhfuyh

The whole thing is a mess tbh. I blame rushed production for S5. Deadass thank god for the writer's strike??? Maybe with more time for the writers to actually do their jobs, S6 will give its plotlines some room to breathe.

SO YES, long story short, I wanna do this plot thread some justice and also have my OTP be gay as shit the whole time <3 And give Miguel the epically dangerous adventure of self-discovery he deserves while ultimately still showing him he is very loved and does not need his shitty biological dad!!! God bless!!!

oh man. season 5.

so, in theory, there's a lot about season 5 that I should like. I think it reinvents the show in an interesting way and I love the themes of never stopping fighting even in the face of the knowledge that the good guys are never going to truly win and that the deck is always going to be stacked against them. the fucking dialogue between gunn and anne in the finale? "I'd get this truck packed before the new stuff gets here"? holy SHIT it is so good!!!

I totally get why people like season 5 I do think it genuinely has a lot going for it BUT you DID ask so I will now be presenting Isabel's List of Varyingly Serious/Petty Beefs With Angel Season Five. In No Particular Order:

Spike's a good addition to the show and god knows angel season 5 does more interesting stuff with him than buffy season 7 ever did but it is fucking insane to me how much focus and development he gets while gunn fred and lorne, who have been mainstays of the show since like season 2, continue to get absolute jack shit to do

just generally let's be honest. anyone who isn't a white guy this season is fucked. harmony gets no development despite being granted main cast status illyria gets nothing to do despite being set up as a super duper important addition to the cast I don't even know what they were fucking thinking with eve. etc.

THEY FRIDGED CORDY AND FRED WITHIN THREE EPISODES OF EACH OTHER. AND AT NO POINT DID ANYONE IN THE WRITERS' ROOM THINK THAT MAYBE THE FACT THAT THEY WERE WERE STARTING TO RUN OUT OF WOMEN WAS PERHAPS A PROBLEM

speaking of cordy my best girl of all time, I know people love you're welcome but i'm sorry i remain deeply ambivalent about that fucking thing. like yes it's nice that the cordy we know and love gets to come back for one last hurrah but also the episode basically never treats her like a person with feelings of her own and instead she's just there to motivate angel and then die so he can be sad about it. i can't believe it only took 40 minutes to set feminism back 4000 years

also sorry but did they really think you're welcome was going to be enough to make up for what they did to her in season 4? have you seen season 4? one episode where cordy looks hot and has her tits out and swordfights will NOT undo the damage that has been done

and then they proceed to set feminism back even further by just refusing to acknowledge the existence of their show's secondary protagonist for the basically the rest of the season and also fridging fred in an arguably even more horrific way three episodes later so wesley can be sad and so they can introduce a new character who does nothing

like seriously nothing makes me more rabid in season 5 than the scene in power play where the characters all vote on if they're gonna go through with their suicide mission against the circle of the black thorn and it's just all the men voting on it bc illyria's been incapictated bc I guess in angel season 5 women don't get to have agency even when they're literal godlike demon lords

on the subject of the illyria plotline i fucking hate how gunn gets treated. like sorry all the men on this show (sans lorne. unproblematic king) have done awful shit why does gunn get singled out as having done something uniquely horrible just for a shady business deal he couldn't possibly have known the consequences of. like we know why but still

and on the subject of gunn.... the fact that they wrote a storyline implying that the only way for the only black main character in the show to become smart and capable is for him to have his brain magically altered and NO ONE in the writers room was like HM MAYBE THIS IS A BAD LOOK ACTUALLY. christ i would feel way better about the whole "gunn feels like he's just the muscle" conflict if the show more consistently came down on the side that players does where gunn does actually have way more to offer than being the muscle but has just come to see himself as just The Guy Who Fights. but unfortunately they spend at least as much time writing gunn as Actually Just The Muscle. usually to make wesley look better (i promise i'm not bitter about it)

and perhaps i'd be less annoyed about all this if gunn also got literally anything else to do this season but this is truly all he gets until not fade away

which i guess is still better than fred? like fred just dies. that's it

guys i don't think we shit on the girl in question enough. like it's bad. it's really bad. i'm so glad we're currently in the shit talking lies my parents told me renaissance but can we also start bringing that same energy for this piece of shit

nina's an art student so i hate her by default (<- guy who went to art school <- i am allowed to say this)

despite spike being intended to serve as a replacement for cordy they just straight up don't give him relationships with any of the characters other than angel (and fred for like. one episode) and it results in him just feeling incredibly out of place

just in general actually it feels like the writers kind of stopped caring about any of the character relationships aside from angel and spike and fred/wesley (which they only care about bc it's a reason for wesley to be sad anyway)

the pacing is a nightmare and i do not give a shit about the circle of the black thorn. sorry

and just as a disclaimer i would like to acknowledge that like. ats was always fairly shitty about race and gender this isn't unique to s5 but MAN does it feel like season 5 in particular is just. saying the quiet part out loud constantly every episode

anyway thank you for giving me free rein to just bitch about angel season 5 for an extended period of time this was fun. still i'm honestly glad that you enjoy it like really truly I wish that were me

Any thoughts on the very specific camera shots showcasing "Genuine" beer?

I know some production companies pay for brand endorsements but those camera shots, both with Buck drinking while looking at Eddie and then placing the food he tried 3 times to make on the table in front of Eddie, scream foreshadowing. Their genuine in their feelings for one another, their genuine in their relationship......

I'm curious if you've any meta with regard to food or food preparation. I love the behind the scenes inklings you have.

I have so many thoughts

mostly that sublty didn't just go out of the window - its in a different stratosphere!!

I do have theories about food and drink on the show - they are the same as many other people have. there is the massive contrast of the frozen waffles and the prepackaged fruit salad connected with Taylor, and the Eddie learning to cook and then Buck wolfing it down like it was going to be taken away from him. then there is @clusterbuck 's salad theory!!

But that lasagne is the stuff of dreams - because it shows Buck following the same path we saw Eddie take in S5 - the learning to cook for his boys path. and honestly the comparisons between the 5b dinner scene and this one are insane - I cannot wait for the GIF makers to get to work on that parallel - its just so good!!!! the idea of home cooked food - that Buck has been practicing to get right (three times - and three girlfriends of Bucks past anyone?!!!) and you said it perfectly above - they are genuine in their feelings for one another - their love is genuine as is the relationship they are building an heading towards

The beer though - the beer is making me a bit feral! Not only is it genuine beer - its also a yellow label and all the beer we have seen Buck and Eddie consume in bucks loft has had yellow labels - the "I could still take you" beer - yellow label and the balcony scene beer - yellow label. I have been banging on about the importance of yellow as a colour of communication for what feels like forever - and here we have it being thrown at us again - just to super emphasise the genuineness of it all. throw in Eddie wearing yellow and Buck and Chris wearing blue - and well the yellow and Blue theory I figured out in S5 is also alive and well (I will be writing more about this in my meta - I can assure you!!) the fun thing with the yellow blue theory is that is particulalry prevelant around gay ships nad couples - it has been used to great effect in other shows - Heartbreaker, Stranger things, Our flag means death - have all played with yellow blue colour theory and queer couples!!

From what grave did I come? Of what evil mixture was I compounded?

Alright, this is my last picture from an originally conceived regency AU, now switched to a more forgiving, and honestly more to my taste gothic AU.. oh yeah..

I now have an even vaguer time frame about which I know very little historically to play with.. but who needs to know anything about gothic other than brooding mansions, stormy weather and slightly insane men resurrecting things that should stay dead?

So…

This is the point in the story after Kpp’Ar got consumption and Viren heals him at huge and irreversible costs to his smokin' good looks.. he subsequently spends a lot of time skulking in the basement and examining/getting possessed by Kpp’Ar’s antique mirror..

Fortunately?? They discover they can communicate with the ghost of Aaravos through it, and that his oddly well preserved mummified corpse lies buried somewhere deep in the Katolis catacombs..

And one dark and stormy night they decide to raid the grave and attempt to bring him back to life so Aaravos can fix Viren..

Does this go well? Ummm..

Have a few hundred years of death done much for the sparkly elf’s sanity? I’ll leave you to figure that out..

Or his irresistible looks? Trust me ain’t no one gonna be thirsting for this reincarnation.. well maybe Viren..

But as was pointed out to me, these guys are glugging laudanum like water and all their hare-brained schemes seem like a good idea at the time..

Kpp’Ar will probably stretch that thin and elastic line between wildly irresponsible and plain ol' deranged, and Viren uh… will probably stretch many lines while feeling an ever growing sense of dread, like he's walked into some Edgar Allan Poe story by mistake.. or something?

Oh.. and I really want them to have Claudia.. but I haven’t figured out a way to do that yet.. not Soren.. haha sorry Soren but honestly you wouldn’t last five minutes in this AU anyway..

Like a lot of other dumb stuff that exists in my brain this probably shouldn’t see the cold light of a grey and gloomy day cracking in through the curtains..

Tho I am also considering shelving this for Halloween, given the new spooky vibes, which has the added bonus of being able to -

Wait and see if puzzle house/s5 gives me anything more to play with for these guys, or just consigns them to the dustbin of lost dreams..

Ok Spuffy!Roxanne AU where Spike is C.D., Buffy is Roxanne, and Riley is Chris.

I feel like this would be some time in late season 4 or something. Maybe early S5. Idk, this would be very AU but somehow Spike gets himself into a position where he’s writing letters/poems to Buffy and she thinks they’re from Riley. Maybe he walks in somehow on Riley trying to write a poem for Buffy and it’s really bad, and that’s saying something coming from Spike. And Riley goes “like you could do better” and then Spike opens his big mouth and just fires something off the cuff he absolutely has NOT thought about 100 times before and Riley is like “wait crap that’s actually good” and somehow he gets Spike to write a poem for him for Buffy either through blackmail or he offers to pay him.

And Spike is like ‘wait I can use this I can absolutely ruin their relationship, she’ll run screaming away from Riley faster than Cecily ran from me.’ So he sits down and writes one and just goes all in, just throws himself into it and this is ABSOLUTELY not dredging anything up. Nah uh no way. He HATES Buffy this is completely fake. 100%. These beautiful eloquent descriptions of her hair in the sunlight mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. So he writes it and Riley gives it to her and…

She loves it. It’s the most beautiful thing anyone has ever written her. She loves it so much she almost cried. It is the exact opposite reaction that Spike wanted and yet…there is somebody that loves what he wrote. Somebody that was actually moved by his words. This is huge. This is insanely personal. This is hitting him on such a deep level it is ABSOLUTELY dredging up things absolutely dragging silly little William to the forefront. And Spike knows he shouldn’t be doing this, that somehow, he’s playing a dangerous game here. But he can’t help it, her reaction hit him just as hard as his words hit her.

So the next time Riley asks, it doesn’t take much convincing or blackmailing or paying at all. He keeps doing it. Keeps writing her. Poems turn into letters with poems attached to them and he finds that he loves writing to her. Loves being able to just absolutely unload all these feelings. To wax as poetic as he likes because it’s not coming from him. There’s no fear of being rejected or judged. There’s also some comedy because no NO HE WANTS THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO GO BADLY. He’s metaphorically digging his own grave here and having all the little freak outs that come with it.

And somewhere along the way he has his epiphany and realizes that he loves Buffy. But the crux of the story is this; she thinks he’s just a soulless monster without the capacity for genuine emotion and tells him as much on a regular basis. He’s the monster. The Quasimodo. The Cyrano de Bergerac. He could never come up with something that genuine and beautiful. He could never make Buffy feel that way. But Riley? Riley is the good one. The nice normal human guy with a soul. The only problem? Riley is even worse with words than Spike considers himself to be. He can’t write anything without it turning out basic and mechanical, like a military report.

Well, the story goes on and Spike keeps writing and Buffy finds herself falling more in love with whoever is writing. Except her and Riley just aren’t having the same sort of connection face to face and Buffy is having trouble reconciling it. They get into a fight and Riley decides to give Buffy some space by going on a week long mission with the military. Spike takes that opportunity to write Buffy every day. It’s about this time that Dawn figures out what’s been going on because she walks in while Spike is writing. She tries to talk to him about, tell him he should come clean and they get into a bit of a spat about it. During their argument Dawn mentions that Riley is back early and Spike panics and runs off to find him because he doesn’t know that Spike has been writing. In his haste he forgets the poem he’s drafting and Dawn takes it.

Unbeknownst to either of them, Riley and Buffy have had another fight and all the issues of their relationship have come to the forefront. Riley decides to leave with the military for good and leaves Buffy a note to tell her. Dawn ends up placing Spike’s letter along with Riley’s and Buffy finds them both. It’s about that time that Spike shows up at Buffy’s house in a last ditch effort to find Riley. By the time he gets there Buffy has read both letters. She shows Riley’s to him and Spike is a combination of pissed off and internally freaking out because he knows he’s gotten himself into a mess now. Then she shows him his own and makes him read the poem out loud. To his horror, there’s an addition on the back that says “PS, Spike wrote this ~ D.”

The first thing Buffy does is punch him (like in the movie). They get into huge argument about it and Buffy accuses him of just playing with her emotions to try and hurt her and Spike ends up admitting that it’s not that, that he genuinely loves her. They continue to argue about it, about how he’s a vampire and he couldn’t possibly be in love with her and Buffy starts digging herself a nice deep denial hole. They have the whole porch fight from the movie and some of the comedy beats that comes with it. She eventually slams the door in his face and he yells “you wanna know what the rest of the letter said? It said PS I was only kidding!”

And at this point I’d say we’re in a mash up of Crush and Intervention, because it’s now that Glory’s minions kidnap Spike. The same thing happens, he gets tortured but refuses to tell them anything and that proves to Buffy once and for all that he was genuine. That every single thing he wrote was real. That he can love. That he’s loyal.

It terrifies her, and as much as she wishes it didn’t, it makes her love him more.

hey, i was wondering how you were hoping kreese’s arc goes in s6 in regards to his relationships with johnny and tory. i love reading your cobra kai metas and would love to hear your thoughts on this!

There's like........what I want, what Martin Kove, insane John Kreese actor/apologist wants, and what we can reasonably expect the Big Three to actually give us, given what they've alluded to in interviews about where we left the characters at the end of S5. These are all kind of different things, though.

I think we've officially left that character in the darkest place he's ever been, because he's un-tethered from any pretense of following rules (he's a fugitive) and he "hates everyone" (per Josh Heald.) Up until now Kreese has always operated within a system, part of his whole game is hiding his ruthless, Darwinian nature under a veneer of respectability—playing up the retired Vietnam vet who just wants to help kids shtick. No more! He's faked his own death and assaulted people to escape from jail. This is full-on, willing to kill Captain Turner to survive Kreese. I fully expect their to be some guerilla warfare motif in S6 with how he operates from the shadows.

Season 5 kind of played with him realizing his mistakes and the ways he's hurt people but also dismissed the notion of him changing his ways and reaffirmed him as the Big Bad of this universe (even worse than Terry, because he can do what he does without the benefit of money or power.)

So, I see him starting S6 as the most menacing version of himself. I fully expect him to go full-on Hannibal Lecter, weird creepy phone calls to Johnny, showing up at Terry's place like a slasher film villain, etc. I really hope that Thomas Ian Griffith decides to come back for S6 because I feel like the Kreese and Terry relationship is one of the major unresolved plot threads of the show (and the fact that they had no scenes together in S5 felt like they were saving that confrontation for S6.) I would like Kreese to get a giant "I told you so" speech to Silver. He earned that. And then idk, they fight to the death over a snake pit.

As far as Johnny goes...well, I think in Martin Kove's perfect world Kreese would straight up kidnap him until he agreed to come back to Cobra Kai, lol. TB3 basically said that Kreese feels rejected by Johnny, someone he's always held out hope of reconciling with, so I expect some lashing out....though I do wonder if it will be directly or if he'll redirect his anger at someone like, say, Daniel—because it would be easy to blame Larusso since Kreese hates him anyway and blames him for their relationship going south in the first place.

I honestly believe that Kreese's ideal endgame would be dying at Johnny's hand, tbh. I think doesn't want to hurt Johnny, but he wants Johnny to be "tough" and to affirm the rightness of the CK ideology and carry it on. So while I've never really thought that him "attacking" Johnny directly would be an in-character thing for him to do, I could see some provocation (particularly if S6 is the last.)

We're definitely not going to see a "reconciliation" between them, but I do think Johnny has been in denial about the effect of the relationship on his life and the degree to which he's still deeply wounded by it. I think Kreese is kind of his last "monster" he has to slay—that is, coming to terms with that relationship and eventually forgiving him. And idk, maybe Kreese gets a Vader death. I would be down for him going out like a champ, like body slamming Terry into a snake pit because he's about to kill Johnny or something cray cray like that.

(Sidenote—I can't wait for Kreese to find out about the Lawrence Baby and be super weird about it.)

As for Tory...that's a big question I'm on the fence about. A lot of people think she's "done" with CK/Kreese after her awful experiences in S5, which would make sense, but also seems unlikely because at this point her character is his character's only major link to the younger cast. I could see her attempting to be the voice of reason with him if he gives her some of his weird fugitive Hannibal calls (maybe suggesting he turn himself in?) Obviously Robby won't want her to have anything to do with him, but Tory, for all she felt disillusioned with him "giving up" on their plan in S5, is a very loyal kid, and I would like to see her having some mixed feelings about him or a conflict around that relationship. Kreese kind of let her go at the end of S5, so maybe he'll try to stay away. If he gets CK back he's going to want her back as a student, though.

I think the set-up for Kreese and Sensei Kim reconnecting and forming the latest iteration of CK was a pretty obvious foreshadow, so I assume they'll do something with that. It could be interesting to see him work with a woman. If the Sekai Takai is at the end of S6 then I expect it to be in some country without extradition laws to the US so Kreese can emerge from the shadows again to menace our heroes.

Been doing some spring-cleaning on my Amy playlist and driving myself insane thinking about Amy/11 as a sun and moon dynamic (obviously, who's who switches constantly, but always tied together, yet can never permanently be that way), so now I'm dead-set (see: deluding myself) on When The Day Met The Night being an Amy/11 song.

Because, and this is going to be a mini-essay, the song doesn't make it clear who's who between the sun and the moon + she and he, I think it's largely read as he being the moon and she being the moon but it can be read both ways -> Amy and 11 never really fitting neatly into one box.

And the song (and the album as a whole) has very overt fairy tale influences -> like a name in a fairy tale

As a bonus, the album this is on, but not this song sadly, has quite a few references to Rimbaud's A Season In Hell

But onto the song itself:

The links to the many gardens, especially the idea that the gardens are where he comes back to her (S5, the big bang Dr finding her asleep in her garden, S6, Amy finding out that he didn't die while she's in her background, S7, the scene with the convo with Rory where the TARDIS can be heard arriving)

Thinking about how 10's regen to 11 going roughly, collapsing and bleeding energy everywhere, literally just hanging on

But also Amy's "why did you say five minutes" in the garden and the look on her face when she says that -> the idea that she spent a lot of her 12 years barely hanging on to a sense of normality and sanity

Thinking about both of them making promises not to leave the other, textually or implied, and both of them breaking said promises....

To end this insane ramble, I'll leave you with the knowledge that if you queue Little Amy (the murray gold track) before When The Day Met The Night and then set the spotify crossfade to 3secs, the two tracks sync really nicely <3

Just... thinking about Night/Day imagery in general and how 11 and Amy meet during the night and each one of them thinks of the other as the sun while perceiving themselves as the moon. Considering how 10 felt about regenerating and how that predestined 11 to have his actual identity constantly creep up on him which he isn't thrilled about because he's preoccupied with holding on to everything 10 was. (INSANE how Ten has to deal with Rose's ghost, the ghost of a living person and eventually ends up as one himself. He lives because Eleven wants to keep him alive, but it's not quite him... never a proper ghost, never a proper person...) it's only at the end of his arc that 11 acknowledges 10's vanity of all things. And then regarding Amy, there's the otherness she experiences in every timeline, even in the one where she remembers the Doctor, her drawings and artworks of him exist in her bedroom still. What a crooked solar system! The Moon chasing The Sun, 11 not allowing 10 to go, Amy waiting for 11.

Back to the Night/Day thing (the stuff above was a prelude, I guess), 11 comes back to Amy during the night (5x01) and leaves her during the day. (The God Complex) Key motif of The Romantic Period!!!! But also reminiscent of Symbolism. (Romanticism and Modernism as Amy's Art Movements Agenda is going strong) Actually your analysis here SCREAMS Verlaine's À La Promenade to me. ("and dying, like a sunshine of a dream" it says + mentions of costumes and vows, but again it's so much better in french dbdjdjjdjdjr modernism is freaky translated, but not the freaky that was originally intended to be portrayed bdjdjdjdjd)

Ooooooh the gardens, it gets even crazier with the gardens. The symbolism is ANCIENT, they are beauty and innocence and life, but are also wilderness and escapism and a ticket to nowhere. But for Amy, each reading of the garden kind of starts to exist with all these qualities exaggerated depending on the narrative moment, to the point of all of it becoming unbearable. She waits for the Doctor as a child and the green enveloping her house is too messy, she marries Rory and her new garden is too neat. Too messy and too perfect constantly being presented as the only two options Amy has, they only two ways in which she's allowed to be perceived. Truly haunted by her own dichotomy-defined presence. (never really fitting neatly into one box!!!!!!) "You could really spend a lifetime in here - not that I'm going to." on one hand she's been spending lifetimes in gardens like the TGWW one. On the other hand the TGWW garden is everything she wants, but Amy won't even consider it because she craves the Big Dramatic Moment, the feeling of having something happen to her even and especially if it's unpleasant ("kind of a good hurt") because she's been stuck in the in-between since forever and she doesn't want her dreams handed to her without the journey, without a sense of achievement. Wish fulfilment isn't appealing to her at all.

AAAAAAAND I wandered off here and this is INSANE and incoherent, but YAY for the Rimbaud cameos in music, I LOVE to see it.

ngl my whole take on will's bday thing now is that they're not gonna edit it to May for the whole wait up to S5. but!! when S5 drops... they'll change the dates in S4 lmao like move them either a week or two after.

i think it's just super likely that it's misdirection or sth. make people think the duffers don't care about will ergo they don't care about making him happy in S5 (i.e. making byler canon). people do keep bringing it up, right? like why would they do this or that or be fussy about this detail when tHeY fOrGoT aBoUt HiS bDaY (man typing that was hard).

the other reason is maybe time/memory shenanigans. but that's a little bit harder to pull off i think? even with the whole clock theme in S4. a while back i theorized it may be possible that henry is making everyone forget about will's bday like how henry made will forget about everyone -- well, mostly everyone -- in S2. what for? beats me. but like, imagine feeling like something important is supposed to be happening today but you can't figure out what or why. so there's like this invisible tension tying you up. you can't figure out the reason but it's making you go insane, maybe literally. like this date is supposed to be important but WHY.

anyway, of the two, the first is more likely to me lmao. easier to do anyhow.

oooooh that's an interesting question. I don't know if I have a top 5 per se, but I can list a few.

Top spot has to go to Chozen, hands down. He's a prickly and frustrating one in TKK2 (a legend, but a frustrating one) but seeing him pop back up in S3?? This man waited decades to honk Daniel Larusso on the nose. Talk about committing to the bit. I've loved seeing his sense of humor develop while keeping his no bullshit attitude. Pls save us next season Chozen lol

And then probably Tory and Sam as well. Tory has suffered from arguably some of the most bizarre writing on this show. She's never been a character I had a problem with but they give her these weird cartoon villain lines sometimes and for what?? But I really enjoyed getting to analyze her character with my dear old mutuals on here so a combo of that and the arc they gave her this season, she's really moved up the ranks for me. Let Tory be happy thank you and goodnight.

As for Sam... she's driven me insane for most of the series, I'm not going to lie. I have a really difficult time with characters who operate on such a strictly black and white worldview and I felt a lot of her actions in earlier seasons were hypocritical. But it's been interesting to watch her have to confront that worldview and I think she's coming out the other side stronger for it. I'll be curious to see where S5 takes her.

Hello again, i hope you had and continue to have a lovely weekend :)

Honestly, I forgot so many of S5 storylines since I think I’ve only watched this season twice. And when I do watch it it’s just the last couple episodes minus the finale. I mean I even forgot Ted’s makeover/plastic surgery storyline. So I was just as surprised as my brother was. That I don’t forget: He is hating Eli and Monty so much its funny and I already know he’s going to hate them even more. He also really can’t stand Ben and Michael this season.

And he kept mentioning throughout the episodes how bad Lindsay’s hair is. I wonder what he’s gonna think about Brian’s later on, he will obviously continue crushing on him but i wonder if he’ll have any feelings about it.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that wishes Emmett and Brian had more of a friendship/bromance. I love Ted and Brian so much but Em would be perfect with Brian. Especially since their personalities are so different. And yes, he really is gay for Gale/Brian, there were way more ‘he’s pretty/hot/wow look at him’ but i decided to skip them because it would be 16 parts long and half of it would be about Brian being pretty. I can’t wait for him to “meet” Gale and to see his realization about how dorky Gale is irl. I wonder how his crush will go from there.

AND YES! My mom did watch Queer Eye thinking it was this show. Dad still teases her about it because apparently she walked into the kitchen when she watched it and went ‘i thought (brothers name) said they fuck in here? So far it’s just clothes and avocado toast’ maybe i should tell her they did a QE storyline. My brother has watched it religiously since it came out (the new version) but he just never shared that with anyone. Which was weird to me since he shares everything else, that a normal person would keep to themselves, with literally anyone that he meets.

As for the meta post. I really, really, really hope that one day he goes insane about Brian like this. I just know he is thinking way too many thoughts about him. Our whole entire family has passed the video back and forth and the amount of family members that contacted me to ask what is he talking about is ridiculous. Even our mom thought the video was funny because of how he was pacing around and kept talking like he was on 6 different drugs.

Btw if you ever wondered, how many times is too many times to listen to Sandstorm in a row? The answer is 27 times. I had to threaten him to stop so what did he do? He left the house and went to the neighbor (i feel bad for her cause he just adopted her as an ally to his everyday nonsense) AND HE MADE HER PUT ON THE SONG because i can’t do shit about it. And all he did was sat on her yard and held a middle finger up towards my yard (we share a fence) while talking to the neighbor about Gale on Criminal Minds and how he thinks maybe he could show up in later episodes since he’s the ex husband. So once again: grown man for sale if anyone wants him.

//So was anyone going to remind me that BSD season 4 came out in March or was I just supposed to remind myself my watching funny YouTube reactions?

For some reason I thought I was caught up to s5, but no! So between yesterday and this morning I’ve watched almost the entirety of season 4.

Spoilers and thoughts under the read more!

In case anyone is wondering: yes, still absolutely insane about Ango. He’s going against the government (what organization haven’t you betrayed?), it finally explains his powers in canon, he made use of an evil government organization to clear Dazai’s name and is now listening to his heart in prison, his mentions of Oda. I love him. While Dazai and Fyodor are playing 5d multiverse chess, I have to give Ango credit for smashing it at normal chess.

Speaking of everyone’s favourite demons, I can’t believe their prison shenanigans are canon! Absolutely wild, hilarious, I love them in their funny little hamster balls plotting. They are going to be the death of me, they deserve each other, those two are playing mind games with each other no one else can even touch.

Yosano’s backstory is so incredibly dark. I knew the vague strokes of it, but also— there’s uh, tiers of concerning in the whole thing. I do sort of want to know how exactly the timeline goes between the Angel of Death stuff, to her with the agency, because Fukuzawa has Ranpo but also he and Mori’s alliance hadn’t gone to Hell.

Nikolai is delightfully insane and so very unhinged, and it’s nice to see he and Fyodor are cut from the same cloth of “lying”. Everyone seems surprised when they realize Fyodor lied, that’s what he does! He’s been doing it this whole time!

I disagree with Jouno’s career choices but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t really like him as a character. I’m relatively neutral on the rest of the Hunting Dogs if I’m honest.

Francis’… it’s not even a redemption arc, but oh what’s that term, villain decay? Yeah, that, that whole thing is both great and absolutely hilarious. I love that he’s still in Japan, so you can just guess he still wants that book.

I was curious if any of my ships had changed since I first watched the show, and honestly, no, they really haven’t. Definitely rooting to get to see more Chuuya and Ango scenes though!

Update as I finish the penultimate episode of season 4: I knew next to nothing about Sigma going into this, and that’s an absolute shame, he’s fabulous.

Sigma’s hair is awful, but him weaponizing the casino against the Hunting Dogs??? Poetic. There’s something so satisfying in that whole idea.

Speaking of them! I get the distinct feeling that Tachihara has been gone from them for too long, I’m waiting for some betrayal of sorts.
