Kinktober Day 25- Kakashi x Reader (Threesome)
*Requested by reader and honestly surprised I didn't think of this first ;) *
        It was another quiet day in the Hidden Leaf Village. Ever since the war officially ended, life had been nothing but peaceful. Everything was so chaotic before that you had a hard time confessing to your long time crush, Kakashi Hatake. You were a sensei like him; however, you trained late bloomers. The two of you often had lunch together whenever you could escape from your students. You finally confessed to Kakashi once the war was over and the village was almost rebuilt.
        You found it quite hilarious how different Kakashi was when you started dating. You always took him as a quiet, lazy, yet charming man who kept his nose in his book. Once you were dating, Kakashi revealed to be quite open and kinky. You fell into his trap the first time the two of you had sex. He was soft and gentle, then each time after that he kept trying new things. You were down for anything since you were head over heels for him.
"Didn't you read that three times already?" You asked, poking your head over Kakashi's shoulder.
"It's too good to not reread." He hummed, placing his book down, "Are you going to tell me to get back to work now too?"
"I was," You chuckled, sitting at his desk.
        When Kakashi became Hokage, he got a little more restless. He jokingly said that he was stressed from the job and needed to feel you, or that he was so tired that he wanted to stay home and fuck you. Each time made your heart race. This was the side of Kakashi that you only knew. It was your personal secret.
"You look like you have a lot of paperwork," You glanced at the pile on his desk, "I can make you your favorite tonight,"
"You treat me so well," Kakashi smiled under his mask, "I'll be sure to come home early,"
"You're going to skip out on paperwork again?" You said with a small laugh.
        Approaching your loving boyfriend, you pulled down his mask to steal a kiss. That face was only for you to see. Kakashi tried to hold you back, complaining about work. He was so cute. You patted his head and told him to finish so he can come home early.
---------------
        As usual, Kakashi managed to sneak off from his Hokage job. He claimed that he managed to finish his work, but you were still doubting him. Either way, that was his problem. You happily gave Kakashi his meal, helping him hang up his Hokage cloak. As you ate your dinner with him, the two of you showered and sat in his living room, watching some television. Kakashi had his nose in his book while you leaned against his shoulder.
"So, what cheat did you do to finish your work early?" You asked. Kakashi glanced away from his book to you,
"I can show you,"
        Interested, you leaned back and watched as Kakashi did his shadow clone jutsu. You 'ah' in response, completely forgetting about that jutsu since you could not do it. Like you mentioned, it had been a good while since the war. Kakashi had no need to be fighting or using any jutsus. Unable to resist a laugh, you stared at the two Kakashi's.
"What a cheater," You smiled. Kakashi hummed, sitting beside you,
"You know, I just had an idea." He leaned towards your ear, nibbling against the lobe, "You can say no, but what if I-we had some fun tonight?" He whispered, motioning towards his shadow clone.
        You could feel the blood rush to your cheeks. Kakashi's clone sat on your opposite side, his hands stroking your body as your Kakashi kept kissing your neck. This was new and different. You gasped lowly as both Kakashi's brought their hands up your shirt. Your Kakashi brought your lips to his, kissing you lovingly while his clone sucked against your neck. Tingles were going off everywhere as excitement started to pool down to your panties.
        Your shirt disappeared in an instant. Both Kakashi's had your breasts in each of their mouths. You muffled a whimper, not used to this kind of stimulation. You gasped again as your Kakashi started to rub your clit while his clone kept stroking your sides. Your mind could not focus on any one of them. Your hips started to squirm, trying to free yourself from the pleasure. Kakashi chuckled towards your reaction and took your pants off.
"You seem to be enjoying this," He hummed.
        You just pouted towards him, wanting to complain but his clone swallowed your complaints with a kiss. Kakashi brought his head to your wet pussy, licking and sucking against your sensitive bud. You tried to moan, but Kakashi's clone kept swallowing your kisses as he continued to play with your breasts. His fingers pinching your nipples causing your body to arch slightly. Kakashi's tongue roughly flicking your clit as his fingers teased your hole.
        You started to moan as Kakashi held down your hips. Kakashi chuckled lowly as he entered a finger into your drenched hole. His clone sucking against your neck as your moans grew louder. Kakashi kept pumping his fingers as he and his clone watched you fall apart. You arched your back, feeling yourself about to cum. Kakashi removed his fingers right when he was about to. Placing you on your knees, Kakashi hummed as he started to press his cock inside your folds.
"A-Ah~ Kakashi~" You moaned.
        Kakashi grunted as he inserted his whole dick inside your throbbing pussy. His clone pulling his pants down, placing his harden cock in front of you. Knowing where this was going, you opened your mouth, sucking against Kakashi's clone's dick. You muffled a moan as you tried to focus on one thing. Kakashi's dick filling you or his clone's dick in your mouth. Two holes being filled by his large member.
"You know the safe word," Kakashi hummed as he started to thrust into you.
        You eyes widen as both Kakashi's started to thrust their dicks into you. Tears formed in the corner of your eyes as the pleasure was starting to overwhelm you. Kakashi's dick pounding into your throbbing pussy, reading your orgasm fast. His clone' dick pushing deep against your throat. Your mind started to grow hazy as you focused on both of Kakashi's dicks ruining you.
        Your body trembled as you reached your first orgasm. Kakashi grunted as your pussy started to squeeze him even more. His grip against your waist tighten as he started to pound against your cunt. Each thrust of his dick, hitting your cervix. You could feel your arms grow weak as drool rolled down your lips. You sucked against his clone's dick, the pain numbing from him deep throating you.
"I want to hear you moan, so we'll help you," Kakashi grunted as his clone removed his dick from your mouth.
        You cried out a loud moan as Kakashi ripped another orgasm from you. He fasten his pace, slowing down to give you a fill of his cum. Your breathing was heavy as Kakashi pulled out. He moved away as his clone took over and entered your drenched hole. Another moan escaped your lips as Kakashi's clone started to pound your already bullied cunt.
"Are you okay?" Kakashi asked you, playing with your breasts as he kissed your face.
"Mhm~ Y-Yes...s'much...mhm m-more," You babbled, moaning loudly. Kakashi chuckled as you reached for his dick, stroking him as his clone started to thrust deeper into you,
"Hn, you're too good to me," Kakashi hummed, throwing his head back as you started to suck him off.
        Kakashi's clone groaned as he fasten his pace, cumming inside you. You body shook as you moaned against Kakashi's dick. Kakashi held your hair, watching you bob your head against him as his clone continued to pound you. Your face getting more blissed out by the second. Kakashi watched your movements as you started to slow down. Your moans getting sloppy as you moved your hips. Kakashi lifted your head, kissing you gently as you cam again. His clone moaning as he gave you another fill of him.
        Letting his clone disappear, Kakashi placed you on his lap, thrusting inside you. You leaned against him, whimpering in pleasure as your pussy got devoured by his cock. Kakashi stroked your waist, watching you get more cock drunk. He groaned lowly as you kept squeezing the life out of his dick.
"Would now be a bad time...to hn...ask you to marry me?" He said with a low chuckle.
"Hah, ah~ K-Kakashi~" You began to shake as your vision blurred, "Yes! Yes!" You cried as you cam again.
        Kakashi held you as you collapsed on him, panting heavily. He gave you soft yet deep thrusts, wanting to chase his final high. Stroking your head, Kakashi huffed as he poured one last load of his cum inside your womb. Sighing heavily, Kakashi held you in his embrace,
"So, was that a yes to marrying me...or me fucking you?" He asked out of curiosity. You weakly laughed,
"Both," You replied, nuzzling into his chest, "Both."
        Kakashi smiled as he kissed your head. He carried you to the bathroom, ready to take another bath. You mewled in response, enjoying his lazy, yet caring attitude.
"Kakashi,"
"Hm?" He hummed, holding you between his legs.
"This was the one thing I don't mind doing again."

Rin's confession scene and its rough timing
"the friend who liked her just died and THAT'S when she decided to confess to another guy?" that's what I heard about this scene. is it really this selfish? what's the point of her confessing right then? well, let's see
contents | the scene itself · lost in translation · prerequisites
Tumblr media
CH. 244. First version.
to begin with, I looked at the original scan, and it turns out that both English translations distort the essence. I also don't know Japanese and I will talk about it really shallowly.
why did I mention both translations? here's another one.
Tumblr media
I'll give this one as a better example and later will summarise the translation thing in general.
The scene itself
Obito is dead. Kakashi and Rin have just said goodbye to him forever (yeah, the irony) and are in the middle of a battle with Iwagakure ninjas, who are much stronger. that's Kakashi and Rin's conflict I'm going to talk about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so, Kakashi is not even considering the option that Rin will fight now, he is so set up for the idea of protecting her that this is the only attitude for him now, and it is not surprising for a child who has just lost a friend in battle. the same description can be applied to Rin. she also just lost a friend and is as afraid that she might lose another one. when Kakashi tells her to leave, she objects because she wants to protect him the same way he's protecting her now, and the same way Obito protected both of them (what a bunch of self-sacrificers). this is actually the central theme of their conflict.
so the first component of their conflict is Rin's care for Kakashi, from which the second component comes out — Rin's confession of her feelings for Kakashi. why so?
Lost in translation
now let's linger on the original, and see what was really meant there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CH. 244 Page 13
Rough translation (tell me if I messed it up)
Kakashi: Obito liked you... he liked you so much... you were important to him. that's why I'll risk my life to save it.
Rin: if that's the case! Kakashi... my feelings—
okay, how exactly is their dialogue built? Kakashi says about Obito's feelings for Rin and emphasizes that he is ready to risk his life to protect what was very important to Obito (saving Rin) in tribute to the dead comrade.
in response, Rin uses the word "nara" [ なら ] [second picture, frame on the left], which means "then, in that case, if". thus she makes a link with Kakashi's remark, which means that Rin intends to continue the meaning of what the boy said with his phrase.
the thing is, Kakashi's phrase contains two thoughts:
Obito, who just died in the fight, did it because he loved you very much and wanted for you to be safe.
I respect that and I want to fulfill his wish by protecting you. that's why you should go away.
Kakashi focuses on the second thought, while Rin focuses on the first one. this is where they have a conflict, they understood the meaning of what was said in different ways. or they choose what they wanted to hear.
Rin focuses on the first thought because with the second one Kakashi decided everything for her — after what happened. she needs to find an argument for why exactly she can stay and protect Kakashi, and this argument has already been said by Kakashi in relation to Obito, so why wouldn't he understand her in this?
what she intended to say can be read as follows: "since you understand Obito's position, you should understand why I don't want to leave you. the way I was dear to Obito, you are dear to me. and that's why I'm not leaving the battlefield."
her confession here is so hasty, forced, she needs to say it to explain her intentions. there's no selfishness actually and I think she didn't even wanted to tell this to him in such way, because she does it really cautiously, just enough to explain and not shout "I LOVE YOU", as Hinata did, for example. so, she just had to.
why is this "my feelings" phrase a declaration of love to him, and not something else? after all, feelings can be about a lot in such a context, and we are not given a direct lead, are we?
Tumblr media
Kakashi: I... I was once... the scum that would abandon you...
after Rin's words, Kakashi doesn't talk about anything but himself. he says that he has already let Rin down once, as if showing her that he is not worthy of Rin feeling for him anything comparable to what he mentioned before. we can also see that he is hesitating a bit, trying to find what to say, as if Rin's words were unexpected (but not traumatizing) for him anyways. however, he obviously interrupts her, that is, he does not want to hear the full phrase, again for the reason above.
Prerequisites
a couple of additional "why then" reasons.
Rin was being kidnapped, and she probably blamed herself for it. due to her abduction, kkobkk opened a side quest to rescue her, which led to the site of their last battle together (cave) and the enemy's trap (collapse). and the conflict scene with Kakashi takes place right after. can you imagine how it feels to feel guilty about everything that happened and find yourself in a situation where the best thing you can do is not get in the way? Rin's tears here, as well as her desire to help Kakashi after everything, are really justified, and I feel very sorry for the poor girl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CH. 239
and even while being kidnapped, Rin protected Kakashi and Obito in her own way. before the mission, she gave Kakashi a first aid kit, which helped a lot when he was injured.
well, what am I all about. this is not a random moment for confession, and you should not blame Rin for allegedly not respecting Obito's feelings. she? didn't respect Obito's feelings? can you hear yourself? she's the last person you can say that about. I love her. be nice to the cutie.

Hi, what do you think about this "Kakashi sucks because he is loyal to the system that is responsible for everything" at first I was angry with the person who said this but at the same time I thought why is Kakashi loyal to Konoha and never left?
Why would he leave?
Tumblr media
Like, what would he possibly achieve by running away from his home and leaving the few friends he has left behind?. Kakashi is not like those characters who are like "I got hurt so everyone should hurt too and feel the same pain I felt" no, Kakashi is the kind of character who is like "I got hurt so I don't want anyone else to ever go through what I went through" so he stayed and did his best to protect his friends and the the innocent ppl that he swore to protect when he decided to be a ninja. So what good would running a way and abandoning all of those people would achieve? Leaving the village won't get him anywhere. Like seriously, what would he do after he leaves? Join the Akatsuki and hurt even more innocent ppl? Or just keep running for the rest of his life without doing anything useful at all?! And he did answer your question in chapter 630. When he said "The hole in one's heart gets filled by others around you. People won't flock to someone who abandons the memory of his friends and gives up on the world just because things don't go the way he wants them to. That won't help fill the hole in your heart. People don't help those who run away and do nothing. As long as you don't give up, there will always be salvation."
And this is the difference between Kakashi and Naruto, and all the other characters that "left". No matter how bad he was hurt, he still had hope for a better future, he still did his best to make a change that would actually count and help someone or protect someone. And he didn't only dream of changing Konoha for the best because it wasn't just Konoha, he dreamed of changing the entire Shinobi world so no one would ever get hurt again the same way he and his team got hurt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kakashi is not the kind of person who would act upon his emotions alone, he never does anything that isn't well calculated and that's what makes him the tactical genius he is, even when he failed those students that came before team 7, he didn't fail them because he's depressed or because he was being bitter, he failed them because they weren't ready, because they would have probably been killed if they passed and started to take missions and they themselves thanked him for that
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he's not "loyal to the system" as whoever that person is claimed. Kakashi is not a mindless Shinobi who blindly follows orders either, he disobeyed direct orders from both Hiruzen and Tsunade before, if he thinks that a certain order is wrong he won't do it, no matter who gave it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So by staying he did far more good than he could have ever done if he acted like a rebellious teenager and just left. He saved those kids he failed from getting killed in some mission because they were made Shinobi before they were ready, he protected his friends, students and his ppl countless of times and as a result he became Hokage later and helped even more ppl even beyond his nation, by maintaining the peace that they all fought so hard for by creating the exchange system between the Shinobi world that kept them all needing each other and stopped any possible conflict that might occur, he cleaned the village from the corrupt system and all the damage that was still left by Danzo and his followers as mentioned in Kakashi Retsuden, he even forbade killing, even of enemies, to stop the cycle of hatred and revenge... and so many other things he did as a Hokage that I will leave for another post that didn't just help Konoha but helped the entire world like he once dreamed as a kid. He would have never been able to do any of this if he simply just left the village. Throwing a tantrum then leaving the village and not actually doing anything good to change things isn't what makes a character cool imo, but standing their ground, fighting for their beliefs, helping others and trying to make a change is what makes a character cool and that's one of so many reasons Kakashi is my favorite character.

Kakashi wasn’t sure how they ended up in this situation, but they did. A small group of men had approached them asking for directions. On alert, team 7 proceeded the conversation with caution yet one of them had managed to steal a wallet from Naruto. So they initiated a confrontation only for the fuckers to run away. They thankfully had managed to catch up to them and surround them but they weren’t going down without a fight. To make things even worse though, due to Kakashi’s orders, they would only use taijutsu to not raise suspicion of them being ninjas.
“This is a piece of cake, it’s a fair fight, 4 v 4!” Naruto shouted as he rushed the man who stole his precious frog wallet.
“Hn. We wouldn’t have to be fighting if you were just careful for once.” Sasuke argued as he ran toward his opponent. Amid the chaos, Sakura’s target dodged a kick and made a run for Daiki, knife in hand. Paralyzed in fear, Daiki could only stare at the approaching male. Shit, he thought as the knife neared his chest. Eyes squeezing shut, rapid footsteps made their way towards him when suddenly a thud was heard. Sakura had gotten in between Daiki and the man and deflected his knife with her kunai. Not allowing for response time she had rotated her body to land a kick to the side of his head sending him a few feet away. The man let out a loud grunt as his limp body fell to the ground- he was unconscious.
“Is Daiki okay, Sakura?” Kakshai called as he tied the men up. The fight had come to an end with Naruto regaining possession of his prized possession- the frog wallet.
“Are you okay?” Sakura asked, eyes widened Daiki stared at her in shock. He slowly nodded. “Good." Sakura smiled at him and stood to face Kakashi. "He’s fine, sensei!”
“Thank you Sakura-chan, I’m so sorry for the trouble!” Daiki tenderly grasped her calloused hand bringing it towards him. Sasuke scoffed. “Once we get to my village I promise to pay you back for what you’ve done, I’ll pay all of you back!” Quickly rising to his feet, he gave them a deep bow.
“No need Daiki.” Kakashi stood next to the boy, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder, “It’s our job.”
“Tch.” Sasuke crossed his arms, a scowl now on his face. “Let’s go, Naruto held us up enough.” He turned around to resume their journey.
“It wasn’t my fault they stole my wallet!” Naruto raced behind him to continue the argument. Kakashi sighed and pushed the prince and Sakura to follow the two boys, leaving himself to trail behind.

Team Seven traversed the new terrain. Dirt paths lined with towering trees with occasional clear patches that bled into small fields of flowers; it was irregular but a signifier that they were nearing the flower village. They made idle conversation along the way.
Watching the teens converse ahead gave Kakashi time to observe them. The tension in his team had started to wear off at the motel, and at this point, it was almost completely gone. Even so, the distaste Naruto and Sasuke had for one another was alive and well yet they had managed to subdue it so far. Sakura had also become less rigid- now enthusiastically talking to the boys about her life or sharing random information she had learned while reading and even entertaining the random shit Naruto would say. They all seemed comfortable.
“I’ve also been talking to Hinata-”
“Hinata?” Naruto cut Sakura off almost too excitedly.
“Yeah!” Sakura smirked as she saw a small blush making its way onto Naruto's sunkissed skin. “What, do you like her or something?” she nudged his shoulder with her own.
“Of course I do, she’s super nice and cool.” Naruto shrugged, his blush darkening.
“That’s not what she meant,” Sasuke added, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he made eye contact with Sakura, a silent agreement to mess with Naruto forming. Naruto looked at them with confusion written all over his face. “Do you think she’s pretty?” Sasuke inquired, a subtle teasing tone present.
Taken aback, Naruto stopped walking. His face felt hot and he wasn’t sure why. “Wha- Sasuke! Do you?” Sasuke simply shrugged, he didn’t have an opinion of her looks; she'd never crossed his mind. “Ha- you do!” Once again Sasuke shrugged, not a fan of being on the receiving end of these questions. Sakura shifted uncomfortably.
Of course, Sasuke would find Hinata pretty, anyone would. She had such long, pretty hair with an inviting and caring aura to her. Hell, she was the heiress to the Hyuga clan, she was powerful with natural beauty and a kind demeanor. Nobody could ever say anything negative about her. Sakura couldn’t think of a better match for Sasuke than Hinata- the pretty and powerful princess of the Hyugas. She was the epitome of the girl Cupid would pair with Sasuke. Sakura could never compete with her, Hinata was everything she wasn't. Tears started to well in her eyes at the thought.
“I think Sakura’s pretty.” Daiki blurted out. He had noticed Sakura’s change of demeanor and had assumed it was due to her insecurities- an assumption he made after hearing Ino’s words. The forest seemed to come to a pause at Daiki's words. Shock evident in everyone. Naruto nodded in agreement, glad the attention was now off of him. Sakura brought her head up, wiping the pooling tears from her eyes and smiling at him.
“Thank you.” Her voice was just above a whisper. Daiki blushed as his words settled in, the moment feeling oddly intimate to him. Quickly his eyes darted away from her and locked gazes with Sasuke who bore an unimpressed look.
Sasuke wasn’t sure why, but this bit of information bothered him. Knowing that people found Sakura attractive felt wrong. Of course, he’d known about Naruto’s crush on her- everyone did- but that had faded over time, a momentary thing. But seeing some random guy calling her pretty and wielding the ability to make her smile and blush rubbed him the wrong way. Another guy had her attention… he clenched his fist at the idea. Sasuke didn’t understand what he was feeling and he didn’t like the implications of these newly found emotions. Diverting his train of thoughts he circled back to the task at hand- the mission. “If we keep moving, we’ll be there before sundown.” He spoke. Everyone nodded, except Daiki.
“Actually…” the Prince nervously played with his hands, “I was hoping to spend a night out in the woods. I’ve never done it before, and well… this seems like the perfect situation as I’m with you guys.” finished Daiki, making momentary eye contact with all of them as he spoke. Kakashi simply nodded, indicating that he was okay with it. And so, Team 7 scouted the area for a suitable place to make camp- Daiki following behind Sakura like a lost puppy much to Sauke’s dismay.

Note
for the controversial naruto asks: 4, 11, and 13
4. Are the romantic undertones between Naruto and Sasuke intentional or accidental?
I've seen quite a lot of talk about this in the fandom already, done a little thinking myself. The answer to this question, of course, is that we'll never know unless Kishimoto comes out and says whether it was intentional or not. Even then, there's obviously more than a bit of motivation for him to say it wasn't intentional in order to protect himself and his interests from homophobic backlash. If he said it WAS intentional, I'd take him at his word for the very same reason. He'd have to be pretty brave to come out and let everybody know it was gay on purpose; no telling what could happen to him.
But I realize the question isn't about Kishimoto, it's about what I think personally. Personally? I'm torn. If you told me one way or another, I'd accept it either way. However, I do think the symbolism in Naruto, the thematic parallels, and illusions to romance, are a bit heavy-handed at times. I've wondered myself if it could even possibly BE an accident with the sheer amount of innuendo and subtext. Not just with Sasuke and Naruto either.
I suppose when someone who's not queer writes something in the name of platonic love, tries to send it home, tries to make it as sincere as possible, there will always be cases where love can be interpreted more than one way. I'm not someone who puts very strict labels on platonic and romantic love. I don't put one above the other. Devotion is something that exists in love in all of its forms. I can hold hands with my friends and my partner. I'd die for my mother and I'd die for a stranger. Emotional closeness, physical shows, sacrifice, etc. are not enough for me to say one way or another if someone is in romantic or platonic love with someone else. It's only enough to say that they are in love. They care for each other. They are important figures in each other's lives. For this reason, I don't think it's a very important question or one that can be answered by watching the show. Naruto and Sasuke are in love in whatever way you want them to be. I want them to be gay, so to me, the romance is real.
HOWEVER, given the context, Kishimoto I'm sure doesn't share my opinions on blurry love. Is it possible that by introducing the devotion, the sacrifice, the love that everyone in the show CONSISTENTLY treats as bizarre and out of pocket, he intended to create a subtext of romance which would not be accepted if it was written overtly? I would say it's possible, in fact, even probable. I won't examine it in detail, because I hesitate to say even acts like kissing are strictly indicative of romance, but that's just the kind of queer I am. But when you give your duel protags, which you've built an unbreakable bond between, wives who they don't want to be around and lives they hate, and their only reprieve is seeing each other? Well, I can see why the whole fucking fandom has to stop and think. Very curious.
11. Is Itachi a martyr, a victim, or a perpetrator?
I don't think Itachi's character can be broken down so easily. He's a lot of things. More thoughts here :)
13. Was Kakashi trying his best? Was he a "good" sensei?
Oh, this is a tough one for me, something I've thought about a lot. First, let's start by establishing what a "good" sensei is. In my opinion, I'd say a good sensei is someone who protects their students, plays to their strengths, offers encouragement and help when needed, and ultimately tries to make decisions in their students' best interest. Granted, I haven't watched the anime in some time, but I think, all things considered, Kakashi was a pretty good sensei. Definitely, I believe he tried to be better than Minato, and he at the very least succeeded in that.
There are times I was disappointed in Kakashi. When Naruto was grieving the loss of Sasuke or Jiraiya, feeling responsible, I believe he should have been there for him. However, it's also important to remember that Kakashi is a soldier- one of the strongest in the Leaf- he has responsibilities besides just his students, things that are expected of him to which he can't simply say no. This too is important to keep in mind if we're evaluating him on how good of a sensei he's been. It's up for debate, obviously, because the source material doesn't say where Kakashi is or what he's doing all the time, but I believe in the cases where Naruto, Sasuke, or Sakura needed him and he wasn't there, he would have liked to be and was unable. Given his conduct the rest of the time, I don't think that's a stretch (i.e. leaving vegetables for Naruto in his apartment, going after Sasuke even when he was assigned to a different mission, etc.)
I'd call him a good sensei, and if he wasn't, I'd still say he was trying his best. Always thinking back on Minato and his own squad, I think it was very important to Kakashi that he try to make up for what he saw as a failure to his last team, by protecting and teaching Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. He was willing from the very beginning to die in Zabuza's water prison if it meant the kids would live instead of dying trying to break him out- and at the very end, he stayed with them through the Obito, Madara, and then Kaguya fight, when he had no reason to believe he would make it out alive or even be of any help. The lives of his students seem to be in the forefront of Kakashi's mind consistently throughout the series, which I find commendable in a universe where child soldiers are born every minute and their deaths are treated as an unnavigable necessity. It speaks volumes to Kakashi's character that he is even willing to turn his back on this ideology that's pushed by all his elders in the series. I'd say he and Gai do it best. They've had enough of the killing; I believe they make an effort to overcome the cycle that's been perpetuated, even if it's only their respective group of three kids each.
Yes, even though Kakashi has made his share of mistakes, I think he tries his best, and I believe he is the best sensei he can be with all his flaws and baggage lol
Thanks for the ask :)

How do you think does Konoha view same-sex relationships?
Not favourably. Now this is shounen, so it's not as explicit as you would want to see. But it doesn't have to be. Before OTT platforms provided more freedom and patronage to creators, majority of mainstream media wouldn't acknowledge same sex relationships as frequently as they do now. Homosexuality would be shown as something to mock or laugh at, for comic purposes. That would be the extent of gay representation. However, it does indicate that same sex relationships do exist in their world, no matter how they are portrayed.
Kishi couldn't have been so overt about the shinobi world as a homophobic world, but it is nonetheless. We have seen Naruto's own oft portrayed homophobic tendencies because of his closetedness, his struggle to accept his sexuality. You can see comphet in his behaviour consistently, as written by Kishi. Which is another indicator of his repressed homosexuality. If Konoha was a more progressive society, he wouldn't have felt the need to repress so much, now would he? If there were examples or gay role models for Naruto to look upto, he would have felt more comfortable in his skin. But he doesn't. Shinobi world is a reflection of the real world, and modern Japanese society is homophobic at large, even if things are changing, albeit very slowly. But it doesn't take away from the fact that their society still stigmatises homosexuality. In the manga, heterosexual romantic relationships are taken as a given, like any other heterosexual media. But the biggest proof that shinobi world is not very welcoming towards gay relationships, is the fact that Naruto is still closeted, even after Shippuden. As in he knows but hasn't come out. He couldn't. Sasuke doesn't care about social mores, never did, he doesn't have many compunctions towards living his truth. But he adjusted for Naruto's sake. But it's different for Naruto, he never had a family to ground himself. There is more than one reason for Naruto to still be closeted, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he represses his homosexuality because he knows he would be made to feel guilty about it, like he has felt his entire life. And more importantly, he can't break his promise to his mother, that he would find a girl to marry, like most mothers in a traditional society would expect from their sons.
There are a few indicators in the manga that give us an insight into the shinobi world pertaining to people's attitudes towards homosexuality.
Tumblr media
Jiraiya's forceful statement about how he is not into men and Naruto's startled response is another layered hint at Naruto's closeted homosexuality, Kishi does this very consistently. This scene could easily be forgotten under the pretext of comedy, but red herrings like this one are written very consistently by Kishi, make no mistake, it's a super deliberate attempt at giving information about Naruto's sexuality.
Jiraiya, a very straight man, is offended at the mere idea of being interested in men.
Tumblr media
This is another panel that says something about shinobi world's attitudes towards homosexuality, even something as innocent as carrying an injured shinobi makes people uncomfortable.
Tumblr media
Well, we know that Sakura is borderline homophobic and it totally gels with her shallow, self absorbed personality as portrayed consistently by Kishi. She already showed her discomfort at Gai carrying Kakashi in the previous panel, but Kishi had to make Sakura repeat her sentiment of extreme discomfort at the 'disturbing' imagery in front of her. Lol.
It's also very funny to me because like, shinobi world has no CARS or mediums of transport, so how the fuck are they gonna carry injured people around anyway? Like??
Tumblr media
Gai is already shown to carry an injured Sasuke, Kakashi is shown to have carried an injured/exhausted Naruto on his back. Like how else are they supposed to do it?
So it's pretty normal for shinobis to carry people on their backs. But Kishi decided he wanted to make it funny with Kakashi and Gai, by creating an uncomfortable situation with comedic overtones, but also managed to say something about the general attitude of people towards homosexuality.
Someone as stoic as Kakashi isn't immune either.
Tumblr media
Naruto, who has already been established as a closeted gay boy, shows his homophobic tendencies again when Kakashi compliments him after his Rasenshuriken training session, which is clearly without any ulterior motive. But well, Naruto is closeted, so he gets panicky and nervous at even an innocent compliment that he interprets as homosexual interest. Again, Kishi gives us information about Naruto's sexuality, but hides it under the garb of comedy. But Kakashi's own conciliatory response (that he didn't mean it 'that' way) shows his attitude towards homosexuality. Doesn't seem like Konoha normalizes same sex relationships.
Then we have this. Lol. Tayuya has such a pottymouth, lolol.
Tumblr media
Yeah, the term is used as an insult in the ninja world. Quite like the real world.
Tobirama also got his panties in a twist when he saw Hashirama hanging out with Madara, and he couldn't take it. Now it's not made apparent or overtly shown by Kishi that he did it out of homophobia. But what's clear is that Hashirama and Madara's relationship is homoerotic/romantic, and Tobirama is a bigoted, narrow minded individual who couldn't find a sliver of happiness in his own brother's happiness. I can imagine him to be homophobic, it gels with his characterisation.
So yeah, the shinobi world is a reflection of the real world as seen through Kishi's lens and he implicitly portrayed this world as not very open to same sex relationships.

Baby Sarada's Adventure - Part 2
Prev: Part 1 Next:
Time went by and the two had fallen asleep on the couch. When he woke up, Sasuke had almost forgotten that she was there.
I wonder if she's hungry. He made sure to pick a few baby food in case there was something she didn't like.
She really did look cute and innocent when she wasn't causing trouble.
How was he going to manage the rest of the week?
“Well, well. Isn’t this interesting.” A voice piped in.
“Kakashi? How did you…”
“Hmm, I overhead some things in the village. The last Uchiha with a baby. Naturally, I had to check up on my student.” Sasuke wouldn't bother to ask how he got in. Kakashi was a Jōnin.
“You should have told us Sasuke.”
“But… she’s an Uchiha.” It was his responsibility. “Is she though?” He’ll admit that there were similarities in how they look but that was it.
“Where did you find her?”
“At the training grounds.”
“And you think it’s safe to keep her here?”
“I’ll keep her safe, I promise I will.” He didn’t know why he was begging but he wouldn’t let Kakashi take her away. The Jōnin sighed and looked fondly at the sleeping baby.
“You should really let us adults do the job.”
“Says the sensei who's always late for everything.”
“Everyone’s late now and then.” Kakashi ignored the snide remark.
“I understand you may feel personally responsible. But we don’t know where she came from or who her parents are. What if this is a trap?” Sasuke's grip on her tightened.
“I can handle it.”
“Sasuke. You can't just keep a random baby.”
“Even if there is a small chance she’s an Uchiha… I have to take it don't I?”
“And if she’s not?” Said baby let out a cute snore resting peacefully on Sasuke's tummy.
“Well, she’s already grown attached to me. Are you really going to try and pry her off me?”
“I didn’t think you were that much of a soft touch but okay have it your way. I’m making this a team mission then.”
“I told you I can handle it.” He stood up from the sofa heading towards the kitchen still carrying the sleeping Sarada. Those two would only just get in the way.
“Sasuke, you have teammates. If you won’t let the Hokage or Jōnin handle this. Why not count on them?”
“Because I have everything under control and like you said she’s my responsibility. No one else’s.” He really was stubborn but fine, so be it.
“Taking care of a baby is a lot of hard work.”
“I'll manage.”
“Alright, but you know where we are if you need us.”
At most Kakashi will give him a week, but he knew Sasuke would need their help.
~~~
Tch he didn’t need any assistance and certainly not from Naruto and Sakura anyway.
What use would they be? Naruto can hardly look after himself, how would the blonde of all people know how to take care of her? And Sakura… well maybe she might know a thing or two but still, he could handle it on his own.
If the baby really was an Uchiha then he would take full responsibility. No question.
This would be a piece of cake.
How hard could taking care of one baby be?
Little did Sasuke know how he was about to find out. Later in the evening, the raven-haired boy went to the kitchen to prepare Sarada her food. He brought it from the baby shop so everything should be fine. She preoccupied herself with playing with his stuffed dinosaur.
Rule number one when looking after an infant. Don’t leave them unattended, even for a few minutes. Especially when in Sasuke’s case, the house was far from babyproof.
He was barely away for five minutes yet when the Uchiha popped in to check on her, there was so sign of the infant. His dinosaur plushie was left in the spot Sarada was at earlier. Great. Now, where is she? And why did she have to be so annoying?
Said little one was happily crawling away into another room, and looking around the place for her Mama. I mean all three of them lived in the same place so, of course, her Mama would be here, she must be really good at hiding though as Sarada hadn’t seen her since Papa took her home.
“Awo gah boo jaah gah apap.”
‘I wonder where Mama is.’
She was a tall woman with pink hair so it wasn’t like it would be difficult for Sarada to find her anywhere. Sarada didn’t understand why Papa was trying to stop her from seeing Mama. She sat down looking around the room, it didn’t look familiar and Sakura was nowhere in sight.
“There you are.” Sasuke picked her up before Sarada could crawl away. She pouted still having yet to finish her quest for finding Mama. “Your fast, I’ll give you that but you shouldn’t be going anywhere. It’s not safe.”
Sasuke didn’t know why he was talking to the girl as if expecting her to understand him. She couldn’t even talk properly, let alone know what was going on. But maybe if he was stern she would get the idea.
And why did it look like she was glaring at him? It almost seemed familiar, just like his own.
“The last thing I need is Kakashi rubbing it in that he’s right.” He muttered under his breath.
“Ai ai goh ooh ji app app.”
‘I’m trying to find Mama.’
“Ah, I see.” No, he didn’t see and Sarada knew that, if he did then Papa would be just as worried as to where the pink woman was. She started making a fuss wanting to be put down so she could go and explore again. Why didn't he get it? “I’ll give you a tour after you eat.” Perhaps it was going to be more stressful than he thought.
~~~
Sarada just continued to pout. “Eat.” She turned her head away refusing the food. This wasn’t the stuff her Papa gave her, he knew what she liked so didn’t understand why he was feeding her with this gunk.
“I said eat.” Again she snubbed the food away. A vein twitched on Sasuke’s forehead. Hmm, how did parents make their children eat? The last he could remember was them cooing almost baby-talking to them and trying to encourage them to eat from the spoon.
I can’t believe I’m doing this…
“Here… here comes the food...” His cheeks were tinted red, so embarrassing. And he had to coo? Sasuke the avenger? It really was a good thing that no one else was there to witness this. Especially Naruto.
Sarada peeked an eye open, and while it wasn’t exactly the same she did remember Sakura doing the same thing.
Although his way could have been more encouraging. ‘Ooooh look Sarada, yums yums. Your Mama’s going to eat it all up if you don’t.’ Sakura would then pretend to eat it herself whilst Sarada would put her arms out wanting it. If Mama would eat it then it had to be good right?
That's how her little brain processed it. She giggled watching her Papa attempting to do the same so opened her mouth to be fed. It wasn’t the right brand but she was too hungry to care. Sasuke gave a sigh of relief watching Sarada finally take a bite and start to eat. “You really are a piece of work. You know that.” He stated when she finally, FINALLY finished her meal.
At least he didn't have any trouble afterwards.
All he got in response was an innocent smile.
~~~
“And this is my room. Since you’ll be staying with me.” It wasn’t like Sasuke had a cot for her to sleep in so they could share the bed. As long as he remembered she was there it would be fine.
She looked around, the room was very plain and there weren’t any other plushies. Sarada had plenty of them, so she wondered where they were.
And again there was no Mama.
Perhaps she was busy? For how long though?
Sasuke went to sit down on his bed, not really thinking. He had planned to only rest for a bit but didn't realise how sleepy he felt until his head hit the pillow.
Like Kakashi mentioned previously, taking care of a baby was a lot of hard work. Even different than looking after a cat, or dog or going out on missions.
That was going to be another thing Sasuke had to figure out. What would she do if he had to go on missions? Maybe Kakashi will let him bring her along for the easy ones. Would she even let a complete stranger take care of her?
“I’m not… tired…” he muttered with a yawn to no one in particular and dozed off. Sarada looked up at him noticing that he had fallen asleep. She was going to escape knowing sleepy time meant alone time but couldn’t move.
His arms were secured around her so she couldn't go anywhere much to her displeasure. However then Sarada let out a little yawn of her own so snuggled herself onto his shirt falling asleep.
Sarada woke up to the sounds of whimpering and sniffling. Rubbing her eyes she noticed Sasuke was in distress.
Papa was still sleeping but he had tears in his eyes.
Maybe big scary monsters were in his dreams. That always made Sarada feel upset and scared and it usually was Mama or Papa who comforted her.
She decided to do the same by placing her little hands on his cheeks. Almost like saying she was there and tried wiping his tears away.
Sarada would help fight the bad monsters. He seemed to calm down a bit more making her happy.
For a few minutes until...
A really bad smell hit Sasuke and he woke up.
“Did you just…” She gave him a grin and he groaned.
Well, it was only natural.
“I swear you're doing this on purpose.” He didn't even notice that he was crying earlier but maybe it was a good thing.
~~~
Sarada wondered if Papa cried often in his sleep. As far as she knew he never did in front of her, she slept in Mama and Papa’s bed plenty of times and never did Sasuke shed any tears. The only difference was there was no Mama.
Ah-ha!
That must be it she thought. Papa was missing Mama, that’s why he was crying. Yes, it all made sense now, but Sarada didn’t cry. She missed Mama sure but didn’t cry since she had Papa.
Maybe they got into a big fight and Mama hated Papa.
“Oi!” Her attention was brought back to the present. “Are you going to eat your food or not?” Well, he could have asked more nicely. No wonder Sakura wasn’t here. Sarada scrunched up her nose but ate the food anyway, she’ll be nice since he was obviously going through a hard time and she had to figure a way how to find Mama and bring them back together. Sarada had her own mission.
~~~
Sasuke on the other hand was tired.
It hadn’t even been a day, well not quite and he was worn out. No doubt taking care of a baby was much harder than a mission but he’ll be damned if he let Kakashi tell him so. His Uchiha pride wouldn't allow that.
“I should really name you.” He sat on the table in thought, Sarada was in a little high chair he used to sit on at her age. She sat in it the previous day but he never gave it much thought to how weird it was, to see another Uchiha… if that is who she was again.
The fact of how calm and trusting she is towards him too irked him. Something wasn’t right, or was but he couldn’t figure out what.
“How about Yui?” She only blinked at him in response.
“Maybe not, Riku?” Again nothing. Not that he really needed her permission on using a name but maybe a sign or something to how close it was to the original.
“This is going to be harder than I thought.” Who knew thinking of a name, one that would suit would be difficult? The baby just started sucking on her hand watching him curiously. “Akina, Emiko, Hanako?”
“Achoo!” A sneeze, tch.
“I’ll just call you gremlin instead. It matches you.” Gremlin? Well her father would also call her peanut so maybe it was something like that.
“Ag ag.” She smiled. Almost as if saying ‘I like it.’ What a strange baby. “I need to come up with something better.” Should Sasuke meet the parents in no way did he want to say that he named their beloved daughter gremlin but for now it will do. The rest of the day was filled with crying and tears, he had already changed, fed her and kept trying to give Sarada or rather ‘gremlin’ toys but nothing was working. She would stop, look at the item but then slap it away making him sigh.
What did she want?
Unless…
“Do you miss your parents? Is that it?” Of course, that would be it, you idiot. She has no idea who you are and is now realising her parents aren’t coming back.
If they would come back.
They must have left her there thinking she would be safer there.
So far Sasuke did have his own theories on the little one.
One, and as very unlikely that it was. There was another Uchiha out there but kept hidden due to Itachi. As far as the village knew the whole clan was killed but were they wrong? Could have someone escaped? Sasuke kept trying to tell himself that it was impossible, Itachi was ruthless, and cunning but looking at Sarada, he couldn’t deny there were a lot of resemblances.
Or maybe he was getting ahead of himself and wishing it was true. Because if they were out there he wouldn’t be alone. They might be familiar with each other and-
Sasuke shook his head, best not to dwell on it. Besides, it was unlikely he even cared.
The second was that maybe the father wasn’t around due to the massacre but the mother could still be. She might have had Sarada later and left her here to keep her safe. But even then, there was the matter of Sarada’s age.
The girl continued to wail and cry. Sarada thought by now Papa would understand that she was missing Mama and thus be able to take her to Sakura so she can help them. Just because Mama was cross with Papa didn't mean Sarada couldn't see her. Instead, however, Sasuke picked her up and cradled her instead.
“It’s going to be okay.”
She was caught off guard by that. He was trying to comfort her? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
Perhaps he was putting on a brave face and not upset her over the fact both her parents were fighting.
If that's the case she'll go along and be happy.
“Ah ah.”
Sarada placed her hands on his face to comfort him back.
~~~
“What do you mean Sarada's missing?!” Sakura yelled at the two men. She didn’t think napping for the day or at least until the afternoon would lead to this.
“Why are we here? We should go out looking for her, she’s probably lost and scared.”
“She couldn’t have gone outside.”
“Did you check? Sarada might have-”
“She wouldn’t, not unless she can reach the door. Everywhere’s sealed and there’s no way she would have been able to move that fast.” Sasuke already checked the house and other than the door everything else was locked.
“Besides,” Naruto interrupted. “If that were the case Boruto would have pointed it out or most likely followed after her but he’s still here.” That was true but where else could she have gone if not inside the house? Sakura didn’t want to imagine what could happen to her baby.
Is it part of a plan?
No, they would have noticed if that were the case and who would be stupid to try something in their own home?
“Then what happened, you can't expect me to believe she just suddenly disappeared? How?!”
“Uwaa aaah ah ah.” Boruto tried to explain moving his arms around as if trying to explain what he saw in front of his eyes.
One minute Sarada was there and the next, she was gone ever since she-
“He keeps doing all these exercises with his arms as if he's trying to tell us something but we're not sure what.” Sakura looked down at the smaller blonde watching his movements.
“He keeps shaking his fist and-”
“Fist? You mean Sarada's rattle?”
The two men blinked whilst Boruto let out a grin. Finally! Someone understood him. It wasn't like the action he did was difficult to understand for kids let alone adults so Boruto didn't get how neither of them got it.
“Wait rattle?”
“Of course, Sarada loves it. Although she doesn't really know how to play with it. You remember it right anata.”
“Ah, yeah...” Honestly, that thought never crossed his mind and how would a rattle make Sarada disappear?
“Don't tell me... you two just figured it out?” They sweatdropped and Naruto nervously chuckled.
“Hehe well, we were in a panic and uh-”
“How could a rattle make Sarada disappear?” Sasuke asked. “Yeah, what he said.”
“I don't know... but it's the best lead we got. Naruto you were the one who gave it to Sarada, where did you get it from?”
“Eh, me?”
“Yes, well it was a gift from you and Hinata. I've written it all down.” It was? “She has, Sakura wanted to make sure we 'thanked you' properly and jotted down who got what.” That earned a kick from his wife.
“Hah? I uh well... I don't remember giving her that... are you sure it was us?”
“Of course! It had your family crest on.” Family crest? But Naruto+ remembered everything he and Hinata got for Sarada. Mainly because it was Hinata who had an idea of what baby girls would want, although he did go overboard with the shopping.
Still, it was manly plushies, and a few other toys but no rattle.
“I swear we never-” Suddenly it clicked and he turned to look at Boruto who was sucking his thumb whilst holding onto Naruto's jacket with his other hand.
“Hey buddy, did you give Sarada a present?” He nodded in response which only made Naruto sweatdrop.
Of course, he did. Well, he saw his parents give Sarada presents so Boruto wanted to do the same and gave Sarada the rattle he had. But again neither really knew at the time how to use it. Both just ended up chewing or putting it in their mouths.
He made sure Mama cleaned it first though since she always would when it ended up on the floor before letting him use it.
“Boruto gave it to her?”
“Okay, and again how exactly does a rattle even make a baby disappear?” Sasuke was getting frustrated now. Their daughter was out there somewhere and could be in danger and yet here they were talking about rattles and doing nothing.
I mean really what a ridiculous thought.
“Well, that's the thing. It was way before we went out gift shopping for Sarada. Boruto wanted this cute rattle in the store and who were we to say no?”
“But the lady was saying all this weird stuff about it. How he needed to be careful otherwise 'you can be trapped in your past' I don't know, I didn't pay attention to all that. I mean it's just a rattle and Boruto is fine.”
“Then... Sarada could be in danger?” Sakura didn't care about the details, she just wanted her baby back and safe in her arms again. Sasuke yanked Naruto by the collar heading out the door, although he did his best to make sure Boruto wasn't in any harm.
“Instead of all this yapping why don't you take us to this lady? Maybe she can answer a few questions. I swear Naruto if this is some bullshit your dead.”
“Hey! Why am I in trouble? Do you think I wanted this?”
It really wasn't fair.
~~~
The next few days were gruesome as hell. It almost seemed like every day was something new. On the third, Sarada kept crawling away almost trying to escape from him. Especially when she would pout when Sasuke captured her. The next she was happily playing with his toys like yesterday didn’t happen and he was even playing along in case she would try to escape again.
And the next Sarada would refuse to eat anything.
Was she deliberately trying to annoy him?
As if that wasn't bad enough Kakashi let himself in again grinning away.
“I didn't think you would last this long.” Although he could see Sasuke was clearly struggling to feed Sarada with the evidence of the food being everywhere else, besides in her mouth. Including Sasuke's face. “What do you want?” Sasuke gritted out.
“Just giving a heads up, we have a mission tomorrow.”
“A mission?”
Oh crap! This was bound to happen but what was he going to do with her?
“You can bring her along, it's a simple mission. We'll be helping an elderly lady with her garden.”
That's it?
“If it's that simple, why couldn't Naruto and Sakura just go?” It would be a waste of time too, he needed to train not-
“Haven't you been babysitting her enough?” Kakashi piped in and then swiped the spoon away from Sasuke. He cooed at Sarada and her eyes lit up munching the food.
“Besides, I think she'll like a change in the company.” He spoke amused at how happy she was, Sasuke just tsked annoyed at how easily she befriended Kakashi.
“They're too loud, she'll be scared of them.”
“Now, now. You'll never know unless you try.” Sarada raised her arms wanting to be picked up, she liked this man. He was funny and she recognised him too. He was a friend of her parents although Papa didn't seem happy.
Kakashi picked up Sarada, baby-talking to her. As if she would be able to understand him, Sasuke thought pouting.
“Don't be jealous, I've had more practice than you with babysitting. I've had to deal with you three.”
What was that supposed to mean?
~~~
The alarm went off making Sarada stir and whine. Why did it have to be so noisy when she was trying to sleep? She could feel her Papa move slightly trying not to disturb her as he turned it off lightly groaning himself.
All of a sudden she felt him sit up and frowned. What was going on? They usually go back to sleep afterwards and she was far too tired to wake up. Sasuke looked down at her apologetically.
They had to get up early for the mission, Kakashi wouldn’t be there until later but told them that they could meet up and go on without him since the client was expecting them. She was a sweet woman so they wouldn’t have any trouble, although it may take longer given someone had to look after Sarada whilst the other two worked.
It would be ideal for them to take turns but he wasn’t sure how he felt about allowing Naruto and Sakura to look after Sarada. Would she be crying all the time?
“We’ve got a busy day ahead of us.” He placed her on the bed, her little head kept nodding off wanting more sleep but she blinked watching him move about the room finding some clothes for her to wear. He got some of his old baby clothes but decided to patch over the Uchiha fan. If he had to carry her out in the public eye, it would be better for them if she were an ordinary baby. Could pass off as her being on a mission. “Arm.” Sarada raised her little arm so that he could dress her yawning. It was a quick routine he got himself accustomed to and it helped that she wouldn’t be throwing a fit and just obeyed. Like she was used to it.
“And remember. If anyone asks, we’re not related. I just found you.” Which wasn’t partly a lie anyway, and not that he needed to explain it to her. How was she going to answer them, babbling words no one could understand?
Sarada flopped onto the bed when he was done, still completely tired and wanting nothing more than to snuggle into the blanket. It felt so soft, why did she and Papa have to leave again?
“You can sleep in the carrier throughout the mission, it’s not like you’ll be doing anything.”
Which reminds me, I need to pack her food too.
And probably some toys so she would be entertained. At least one of them got to have an easy day. Sasuke was the first one there. Of course, he was, the Uchiha felt a little ridiculous and embarrassed carrying Sarada out. People were staring when he walked by but as she was sleeping peacefully and cutely he couldn’t find it in himself to care too much. Now he had to wait for his loud teammates, just as long as they-
“Yo Sasuke!”
Perfect. He thought hearing the blonde scream running over to them. Sasuke checked on Sarada to make sure she wasn’t disturbed, she shifted slightly but other than that was still happily sleeping. “Sorry I’m late, I was oh!” Naruto noticed the small infant attached to Sasuke, who was slightly drooling and dreaming about food. “I thought Kakashi-sensei was lying when he told us you had a baby…”
Since when was Sasuke such a softy?
“Keep it down, idiot.”
“Who are you calling an idiot and I am quiet!”
“No you aren’t and you’re going to disturb her, do you want her to cry throughout the mission?” Naruto was about to retort but seeing Sarada stir slightly thought better against it.
“Okay fine, I’ll kick your ass later.” He half-whispered and yelled.
“Tsk, as if you could.” The boy hmped grumbling under his breath, restraining himself from starting a fight. He could be mature and leave the fighting for another day.
“So what’s her name?” Sasuke paused for a while wondering if he should say it and couldn’t think of any other names on top of his head to lie with.
“Gremlin.” Three, two, one.
Naruto burst out laughing and Sasuke again told him to keep it down glaring.
“Oh wait, you're serious?”
“How would I know her actual name?”
“I don’t know but you can at least call her something else.”
“Hmph, she likes it.”
“Oh yeah, because a baby really understands what their name means.”
“I didn't ask for your opinion.”
“Because you sound more stupid than me?”
“If you don’t keep it down I’ll-”
“Oh hey, it’s Sakura-Chan. Morning Sakura-Chan!” Sarada woke up then from all the arguing. Her eyes adjusted to the light, oh she recognised him. He was Papa and Mama’s friend who would often bring another baby over her age.
“Nice work dead last!”
“Hey, you were yelling just as much as me. This isn’t my fault.” Sarada watched switching her head over from one to the other when they argued. It was funny watching them and she clapped her hands giggling.
Then a familiar voice broke in. “Isn’t it a bit early to be bickering?” Sarada turned her head, eyes sparkling.
“Sorry, I tried to get here as fast as I could but-”
“Aaah ah ah.” The little girl raised her arms wanting to be picked up. Finally, Mama was here. Now she could help Papa with Mama and figure out why they were fighting. For now, though she just wanted a hug.
Sasuke on the other hand was not amused and was confused as to why Sarada kept fidgeting trying to get out of his hold.
“Stop fussing.” Sasuke tried to calm her down but Sarada kept fighting wanting Sakura to hold her. “Ah ah aam aam.”
“Uh, I think she wants Sakura-chan to hold her.” Naruto pointed although he didn’t know why but with the way she was holding her arms out, eyes pleading to the kunoichi it would be better than having her cry.
“Eh? Well, I don’t mind.” Sakura blushed and went to scoop Sarada up before Sasuke could protest.
“Aren’t you a cutie?” Sakura cooed nuzzling Sarada making her giggle in response. She was too adorable.
Mama's smell was comforting and relaxing but it was weird that again Papa tried to stop them from seeing each other. Did they really have a big fight?
“Fine, have it your way.” Sasuke tsked and stormed off annoyed at how eagerly and happy Sarada was with Sakura. Why did he bother looking after her?
“Oi, oi, oi. Don’t be a jerk.” It was odd how Sasuke was acting and Naruto turned to Sakura who was just as confused.
“Is he mad at me?”
“I don’t know, who knows what that bastard's thinking.”
“Naruto watch your mouth, she might pick up on it. The last thing we need is to upset her parents.”
“Ooops hehe, but I mean... she's just a baby. Does it really-”
“Yes! It does, you should at least try to watch your language when your around those younger than you.”
Shanarooo! Now Sasuke-Kun’s mad at us. Sakura deflated a bit but looking at the little baby who was now playing with her pink locks Sakura couldn't help but melt. Although, I guess I can’t blame him. She's so cute.
The words Kakashi had said before flooded her mind and she was starting to wonder if he had a point.
“Sakura, I need you to keep an eye on Sasuke for me.”
“Eh Sasuke-Kun? What for?”
“You remember the baby I told you about, I think he’s grown quite attached to her.”
“Is that really such a bad thing though?” I mean, if they were related did it matter if he did? Maybe she could help with the void of losing his parents?
...
Okay, that was a stretch but she didn't see the harm.
“Sakura. Do you honestly believe that she’s an Uchiha?”
“…”
No, not really.
“It's an unlikely possibility and even if they are related she can only be related to a certain someone.” Her eyes widen at what he implied.
“You don’t mean.”
“Itachi Uchiha, he’s the only living Uchiha besides Sasuke. I’m sure he’s aware of it but is either in denial or doesn't want to think about it.” And who could blame him? “If that is the case then Sasuke would only want to help her more right? I mean if she's his niece-”
“Then she's also likely in danger don't you think? Sasuke can't look after her, she needs to be safe and he's far too young.”
“I see... it's not fair. She might be the only living relative he has.”
“And she might not be related at all. Either way, you understand what I'm saying right.”
Sasuke couldn't keep Sarada and if he was attached like Kakashi-sensei said he was it would hurt. “Perhaps you could talk to him. See if you or Naruto can persuade him to let us take care of her. It's for the best.”
“Your asking for something really cruel Kakashi.”
“I know.”
Unfortunately, he was right and Sakura wasn't sure what to make of it. “We should catch up with him. Right cutie.”
“Ah ah.” Sarada nodded her head.
“Hey, maybe you can think of a better name than Sasuke bas- Sasuke.”
Well, they could at least make memories.
~~~
“Hmm, what about Mayumi?” Sakura suggested to the two boys as the three walked to where their mission was. Sarada was still playing with her pink locks, big eyes wandering and looking about the forest. A butterfly landed on her nose and she gave a little sneeze since it tickled scaring the butterfly away.
She laughed watching the interesting creature fly away in awe.
Sasuke said nothing choosing not to answer, it didn’t sit well with him how easily she got along with Sakura. The two just met as well. Noticing this Naruto decided to speak out. “Why Mayumi?” He asked.
“It was one of the names my parents picked out for me, so it’s the first one I thought of. It’s not like we need to overthink it, it’ll just be easier to have one for her.”
“Hey, it’s better than gremlin.” Naruto laughed looking at Sasuke, but he still said nothing. And instead tsked walking faster ahead of the two. The blonde frowned looking back at Sakura who had a saddened look on her face.
He couldn’t blame her, neither had an idea why Sasuke was acting this way. Although he had a hunch it just seemed out of character for him to blame Sakura for something she had no control of.
It was out of character for him to hate or be mad at Sakura like this at all.
He went ahead to catch up to the Uchiha.
“What’s up with you?” Naruto went in front to stop him from walking.
“What?”
“You, you’ve been acting more angsty than you usually do. It’s not because Mayumi prefers Sakura-chan over you is it? It’s not her fault.”
“I don’t care! They can do what they like and she’s not Mayumi!” Naruto was about to protest with the name but he nudged past him with his hands in his pockets.
“Why you-” He stopped mid-sentence realising both Sakura and Mayumi were looking at him in confusion. Little Sarada had one of her hands gripped on Sakura’s clothing whilst her other was in her mouth. “Uh… anyway Mayumi it is, what do you think?” The Uzumaki turned to Sarada, and she brightened grinning away and making small baby sounds.
~~~
“Boo!”
“Waah!” Sarada giggled and crawled over to the other side of the tree where Sakura was already and ‘scared’ her again. She giggled again crawling back to the other side of the tree.
Sakura had been looking after Sarada and keeping her busy whilst Naruto and Sasuke were working in the garden. It was quite a big one, including having a tree planted where there was a swing, since Sarada was far too young to try it Sakura thought of another way to amuse the girl.
‘Why don’t we take it in turns?’ Sakura suggested to the boys. ‘I’ll babysit Mayumi for a bit and then Sasuke and then you Naruto. And the other two can work on the garden so that one of us is still keeping an eye on her and we’re still working on the mission.’
Although it may take a while longer to finish the mission, it wasn’t like it was anything too strenuous than what they were used to and the old lady wasn’t able to look after the baby herself as it would be ‘too difficult’ so one of them had to keep an eye on Mayumi. Well, that’s what she says. When really she was busy entertaining her family who were visiting.
It was strange as they could have easily helped with the garden but they were all relaxing.
And unfortunately for Sakura Sasuke still said nothing to her the entire time, even though he was usually quiet he would still give his opinion or suggest a better ‘tactic’ but he shrugged and went on to do his part for the mission.
“What’s a pretty girl like you doing around here?”
Sakura wanted nothing more than to punch the boy -the grandson- since he had been trying to flirt and kept bothering her when she just ignored him paying more attention to Sarada. Why was he acting as if he didn’t speak to her ten minutes ago? Alas, it would look bad for them so she bit her tongue and resisted the urge to give him her usual Sakura punch.
“Uhhh…”
“Your way too pretty to be a ninja.” He sat on the blanket Sakura laid out in front of the tree, at least they were kind enough to give them something to rest on whilst waiting. Except he was sitting way too close.
Sarada frowned at the strange boy who was acting excessively lovey-dovey for her liking when it should be her Papa there. She was in between the two on the blanket so she put her arms out to Sakura wanting to be picked up hoping he would get the hint and leave.
She did and Sarada clung to Sakura’s clothing giving him a look. “And you’re so good with kids as well, I’m sure you’ll make a fine wife.” Well, that didn’t sound creepy coming from a guy she just met. He ruffled Sarada’s hair.
“Bah!” Sarada removed his hand pushing it away with her small two hands huffing. First, he was trying to steal Mama away from Papa and now he was trying to take her away. Like that would work.
In Sarada's mind, she pictured an evil dragon trying to steal Sakura who was a Princess and her who was also a Princess away from the knight Sasuke and make him angry. Instead, however, the knight was able to beat the dragon and save Sakura and Sarada.
Maybe she did have a bit of imagination but Sakura did read her fairy tales when she was sleeping.
He didn’t think anything of it and put his on her head once more. “Bah!” Sarada again removed his hands frowning.
“Aww look we’re playing.” He cooed putting his hand on her head again. Playing? This wasn’t playing, he was annoying and kept making Mama extremely uncomfortable. “Bah!” Sarada gave him a ‘death glare’ as if that would do anything. It looked too cute seeing as she was a baby but Sarada had witnessed her Papa do it numerous times and figured she could do the same.
“Uh… she isn’t good with new people. She gets nervous when she meets someone new.” That was of course a lie, but it was obvious how annoyed Sarada was. Sakura blamed herself thinking she could sense her uneasiness, wasn’t there a saying that babies could pick up on emotions? It might have rubbed off on her.
“Ah my apologies, I guess she’s used to you.”
Not really. Sakura thinks curious now as to how and why Sarada trusted her completely. It really was weird now that she thought of it. She cooed down at her, smiling hoping it would be enough to calm her down but Sarada was still keeping an eye on the boy. “It’s fine, maybe you can give me some tips.” He got closer and… wait, was his lips getting closer too?
Why the little-
Sakura was fuming!
Inner Sakura was going crazy.
SHANAROOO! SCREW BEING POLITE! PUNCH HIM BEFORE HE STEALS OUR FIRST KISS!
“Baaah!” But was blocked when Sarada raised her hands to his chin. They were too small to reach his mouth but she was still able to halt him from getting closer. With that, Sakura was able to snap out of her trance and punched him.
Hard. It sent him flying to the other side and broke a fence.
“What do you think you’re doing? You can’t just KISS a girl WITHOUT consent!” Sakura was standing up still holding Sarada with one arm, who had a smug little look on her face. It even alerted the other two boys. It was then a mischievous idea popped into Sarada’s mind. Sure it was devious but it always worked with them anyway.
Sarada began crying and wailing and immediately Sasuke was by their side.
“What happened? What’s wrong with her?!” Naruto made a tsking sound. Muttering an ‘I don’t care my ass.’
“Sorry Sasuke-Kun it’s my-”
“It was you wasn’t it?” He turned to the boy who was just recovering from Sakura’s punch.
“I didn’t do anything!”
“Sasuke-Kun it was me! I mean I punch him so it might have scared her-” She tried to defuse the situation by getting between them. Sarada looked up at Sakura frowning, no she was uncomfortable and he tried to kiss her when only Papa can kiss her.
Why was she defending him?
“You wouldn’t have punched him without good reason to.” Sarada nodded her head agreeing with Papa. That’s exactly what happened.
“Ah… well that’s…” She knew she couldn’t hide the truth, but at the same time, Sakura didn’t want Sasuke to do anything extreme. Quite frankly she’d much rather do it herself.
“What did he do?”
“Um…”
“Sakura.”
“He… he tried to kiss me.” Sakura looked down feeling shameful. She knew there wasn't any reason to, but this was supposed to be a simple mission.
Why did it end up like this?
“He did WHAT?!” Naruto screamed. Although he knew he wasn’t one to talk given how he tried to trick Sakura beforehand but he knew better now. Sasuke saw red and lunged at him.
“Sasuke don’t!”
“If you touch her again-”
“Fine! I get it! It’s my fault, I apologise.” He tsked letting go of his collar and glaring down at him, besides the family was coming after hearing all the commotion so doing any more damage would only make them look bad.
“You’re not worth it.”
“What the hell happened here? You, kids, are supposed to be fixing my garden not ruining it some more!” Sasuke just shot them a look. “Then tell HIM to stop harassing girls. We’re done for today, let’s go.” Sasuke took Sarada from Sakura thinking she could use a break and Sarada peeked her head over Sasuke’s shoulder smirking at the boy.
Was it just him seeing this or did that baby hate him?
~~~
“Sorry, it’s my fault we’re in this mess.”
“Don’t apologise Sakura-chan. Even Mayumi-chan knew you were uncomfortable, that’s why she cried in the first place.” Wait, that was why?
“Ah, Naruto’s right. She can certainly stir up drama.” Sasuke said as Sarada tried munching on his headband, it was mainly to keep her entertained whilst they waited for Kakashi to deal with the situation.
“And besides we all know Kakashi-sensei won’t take crap from anyone.” Naruto piped in, and Sarada crawled over to Sakura handing her Sasuke’s headband. As if to make her feel better.
“Uh, thanks?” She looked over at Sasuke who shrugged. It was the thought that counts.
~Meanwhile~
“Oh? So are you saying my student had no right to defend herself?”
Yup, they were in real trouble.
Heavily Itachi themed so my bad
——————————————————————
      The knock at the door startles me awake, my adrenaline rushing as I shoot up in bed. On instinct, my hand reaches across the bed in hopes of coming in contact with Itachi. It doesn't, but that's not much of a surprise. He comes and goes as he pleases. Well, as the Akatsuki pleases; more specifically, Pain.
     Another knock at the door sounds through the house, echoes of it raking through my body. I have decided I hate Itachi today. Most days I hate him, but despite the burning grudge laid deep, when he's around I can't help but feel like a love-struck schoolgirl.
     Before everything, before the massacre, before all the death and destruction, before the hatred Sasuke and I had formed, I couldn't feel anything except love and pride for the Uchiha Chief's oldest son. Our lives - my life was so great before all of it.
     Once the third knock comes I move out of my bed. My feet are silent but my thoughts aren't. About ten different trains of thought are running through my head, all ending at the same conclusion; Itachi pissed someone off again.
     My eyes drop against the door frame, in search of my katana. It's propped up against the frame as I expect. It's a beautiful sword, but unlike the blade, it's double-sided. An unchanging apology from Itachi; one of many. 'Sorry, I almost got you killed. Here's a pretty sword for when it happens again.'
     I let my finger ghost over the colorful laced handle of it as I creek the door open. "Hello," I whisper out, scanning the darkness for whatever threat awaits me.
     "Hi," comes the small response. My head snaps down, following the voice. Standing on my doorstep is a... child. A short, twig-thin child.
     I scan the outside again, making sure to take my time looking over the empty dirt road and the edge of the forest. After Itachi went rouge, he asked - demanded - me to move further out of the village.
After a couple of weeks filled with lectures about my safety, about him having easier access and a lot of negative side effects from the village, I finally caved. The final nail in the coffin was getting attacked by some of my fellow villagers for 'being an Uchiha sympathizer'.
     "Can I help you?" I ask, tone cold as I turn back to the girl standing in front of me. Her hair is in an uneven bob, the bubble gum pink color making up for the rough cut of it.
     The child's eyes are wide when she looks up at me, the green color of her irises pushed to the side from her wide pupils; a natural response from the cloudy sky hiding what little light the night gets. "You know... um..." She shifts, eyes scattering around as she thinks over her words.
     My hand tightens around the handle of my sword, the crisscross pattern of the material digging into my skin. "I know who?" I ask, doing another environment check. I will say that using a child as a distraction is a new low, even for the enemies of my rouge ninja.
     "You used to know Sasuke right?" The words hang in the air, sucking all the oxygen out of my lungs. That's new too. I've never been asked about Sasuke, and the times I've heard about him have been insults themed around him thrown into my face by the village. Well, besides Tachi's old anbu coworker. Occasionally Kakashi will give me updates on Sasuke, but he hasn't been around since before the Chunin exams.
     "I suppose you could say that," I answer, turning my attention back to the girl standing in front of me. That's a bit of an understatement. I've been present in his life from the second he was born, which is one of the only good things my situation with Itachi has brought me.
     Well, was present. The last thing the sole survivor of Itachi's mental break needs is a constant reminder of his brother. I'm sure he gets enough reminders from the image in the mirror.
     Her eyes seem to be even wider as she looks up at me. "I know him too," she tells me, eyes blinking at me as she waits for an answer.
     I don't know what answer she wants, let alone expects. "Congratulations." That's probably not the answer she wanted, or the tone she was expecting. Her face scrunches up before her head tilts down. My eyes catch on her headband, the deep imprint of the village stamped into it. "Child, it's late, I'm tired, and not in the mood. What do you want?"
     Her eyes pick up for a second before falling back to the ground. "Kakashi-sensei talks a lot about you," she mumbles, her attention on her sandals as she messes with the top layer of dust that covers the ground.
     Fucking Kakashi. Mr 'I want to fix it'. I am grateful that the shinobi treats me like an actual person instead of a broken, left-behind piece of the masochist. I'm also grateful that he keeps me in the loop about my lover's kid brother.
     Not so grateful that he insists on sticking his nose in my business, or that he keeps pressuring me about everything. Move further into the village, reenlist as a shinobi, make a friend, and find a new boyfriend. I'm pretty sure the last part is more self-driven than it is the Sensei's guilt about Itachi eating at him.
     "And?" I push, puzzle pieces sliding into place. This must be Kakashi's little kunoichi who has fallen head over heels for Sasuke. May the Gods either make Sasuke better than his brother or save this girl from the life of being a Uchiha's heart and soul.
     It's not all bad. Itachi is very loving and kind to me. Aside from his brother, I'm his whole world. I know that, and he has ensured I never forget it. Despite that, every positive has its negative.
     I have boxes filled with letters from him. I also have boxes filled with medical supplies for the next time he shows up half-dead on my doorstep. The same hands that have touched my skin in love have been coated in the blood of the innocent. He's constantly worried I'm too isolated but is jealous of any person I come in contact with. The same voice that lulls me to sleep has told me the crimes committed by his hand. Itachi's love is as strong as his possession. Obsession is not a strong enough word to describe his admiration for me.
     Is that the kind of life this kunoichi is signing herself up for? Is she willing to place the golden chain of a Uchiha's love around her neck? A gold chain is still a chain nonetheless. Once you dip into the love of a sharingan user, there is no going back. You will be loved until you die, whether that be from nature, the hands of their enemies, or their hand if they can't take the grief of you leaving.
     I am lucky enough to know Itachi would never put his hands on me. Does Sasuke share the same twisted morals as his brother? Anyone can die if it furthers their goal, but not even the gods will rest if my loved ones are hurt; is that another reminder that Sasuke and Itachi were cut from the same cloth?
     "Well..." the starter shinobi starts, eyes still locked on the ground. "Sasuke has... he's left the village."
     Panic creeps up my chest at her words. If he's left the village, what is his squad mate doing at my door? Has he gone rogue? Or is he taking some space? Is he finally processing the grief of everything that has happened? I wouldn't put it past the councils to label him rouge without him breaking any laws of the land.
     "Why might he have done that?" I ask, doing a mental count of how long it's been since the last time I've seen Kakashi. Is that why he hasn't come around? It's been about two months; possibly three. Has Sasuke been gone that whole time? Does Itachi know? He has to know, he checks on his brother as much as he checks on me. Why wouldn't Itachi tell me Sasuke has abound the village?
"I don't know... something about power and revenge," the girl answers, lifting her head to look at me again. That doesn't help the tightening of my chest. Why must Sasuke follow his brother's path so closely? I swear one if not both of the Uchiha brothers are going to be my death.
"Well, that sucks kid," I answer, my tone a bit snippy.
My mind is preoccupied with worry. How mad would Pain be at me if I showed up unannounced? He doesn't seem to mind me coming around as long as I'm not much of a distraction for his 'top member'.
I've talked to the Akatsuki leader a lot; if anything he's the only person aside from Itachi I talk to constantly. I'm not sure if Pain's interest in me is personal like Kakashi's or more 'happy worker, good worker'. Either way, he has decided I'm off limits when it comes to his murder team members, which is a bit of an ego rub if I'm honest.
My mind is flipping back and forth between writing to Pain to request a visit or writing an angry letter to Itachi. As I'm closing the door I settle on writing Pain. This is a conversation that needs to happen face-to-face with Tachi.
"Wait!" The girl yells, her hands slamming on the door to stop me from closing it. That pulls me out of the gutter of my mind. I move the door back open, looking down at the child. "I'm sorry," she murmurs, face scrunched up again. "I just... I want to talk to you."
"Why would you want that?" I ask, letting my face soften a bit. The poor girl looks so distressed. What has Itachi's little brother done to her?
She stays silent, eyes jumping around again. Kakashi hasn't trained his genins on body language yet, which is very evident from the kunoichi constantly shifting her weight. The only way to make her nervousness more evident would be a red stamp mark on her forehead. "Sensei said you're the only person in the village who has dealt with someone like Sasuke."
"Someone like Sasuke?" I poke, trying to figure out what exactly Kakashi has told her about me; more specifically, about my entanglement with Itachi.
"Ya... um... you know, like a rouge ninja," she races out, hands flapping around like crazy. "Kakashi said a lot goes into loving a rouge ninja and a lot goes into loving a Uchiha. He keeps telling me a combination of them is the most stressful thing in the world and I should just give up on Sasuke and with him constantly talking about you I figured you could help me with my thoughts."
     The ramble brings a small, sad smile to my face. "Do you want my honest opinions or did you come here to justify your love for Sasuke?" I ask, even though I know it's a little cruel.
     "I don't know," she whispers back, eyes on the ground again.
     I let out a long sigh, the promise of going back to sleep sliding out with the noise. "Come inside child," I say, opening the door wider so Kakashi's not-so-smart genin can escape the chilly night. Well, perhaps she's a chunin now. I'm not too sure since I haven't had the chance to ask Kakashi about the results of the exams.
     The girl walks through the door, stopping in my entryway to take off her shoes. "Um... you can wear mine," I mumble sliding out of my house shoes. I don't get visitors - let alone invite them in, so there are only three pairs of house shoes in my home; Kakashi's, mine, and Itachi's. As the girl slides on my shoes, I slip into Itachi's slippers.
     I walk away from the door, once I'm sure it's locked anyway. Someone can break through it but they can't exactly do that silently. A small warning is better than no warning. "So... you know Itachi," the girl mumbles, her head on a spiral as she looks around my home.
     My home is quite decorated; pictures of the past, a few photos from recent years, and different artworks from all The Great Nations fill the wall space.
Itachi might be a bad person but he is a good provider. I can't remember the last time I wanted... well, anything. Everything I need or want is gifted to me by him or he provides the means for me to get it. The thought upsets me; another reminder of how chained to Itachi I am. Maybe I should consider reenlisting as a shinobi.
"So," I start, flopping down on the couch tucked against the wall. "What is it that you want to know, kid?"
"Sakura," the girl answers, her eyes wandering around the small living room. Even though the space is small, I have it packed quite full. Living alone leaves me a lot of free time, so the room has turned into a hobby dump center. Baskets of yarn, random piles of books, and art supplies are thrown all over the place.
"Well, Sakura, what is it that you want to know?"
I watch as she walks up to my easel. It's a half-done oil pastel piece of Itachi and Kakashi. I settled on Itachi's color scheme being red but I've been struggling with what color to do Kakashi.
"Is this Sensei?" The girl asks, unclipping my reference photo.
"Ya, it is," I answer, closing my eyes. I can imagine every detail of the picture without having to see it. It's an older photo, taken a couple of days before the massacre. Kakashi and Itachi are sparring, swords pressed together as they come to a standstill in their fake battle. The standstill only lasted a second or two, but there's no surprise there.
"I didn't know Kakashi-Sensei had a tattoo," the little one says, coming over to sit on the couch next to me.
"Ya, he does. So does Itachi and me."
"You have a tattoo too?" Sakura asks, eyes turning away from the photo to me. I nod my head, yes, turning my attention away from her. I'm starting to not like the fact that I invited her into my home.
     "Can I see it?" She asks as she scoots closer to me. I let out a soft sigh before shifting around so my right shoulder is facing the girl. I tug my sleeve up, showing off the anbu spiral. "So, you guys all just decided to get matching tattoos or something?"
"Or something," I answer, standing up and making the short walk to the kitchen. Hopefully, a cup of coffee will help calm me. Or at the very least, help me wake up better.
     "What does that mean?"
     "Ask your Sensei," I murmur, keeping my hands busy with the preparation of my drink. "What exactly do you want me to talk to you about?"
     Silence falls in between us, Sakura letting her eyes wander around my makeshift craft room again. "I don't know... just... what's it like?"
     I let my attention fall to the dripping of the coffee being made. "What's what like?"
     More silence fills the space but I don't mind. Situations like this are difficult to talk about, both for me and for her.
     A little bit of warmth fills my chest when I glance at the girl sitting on my couch. She's about the age I was when Itachi... well, became a murder. It's weird to think about, me being in her shoes just five years ago. At least she'll have more of a support system, and someone to relate to. At least I can offer her the comfort of understanding I didn't have when Itachi went rogue.
     "What were Itachi and you like before he... left," her words come out slow like she's worried I'll lose my composer from her questions. That's not surprising, rumors about me spread even now because of my anbu days, but mostly because of the Uchiha. I can only imagine the rumors circulating now that Sasuke has left the village.
     I think about it for a moment, trying to replay the long-ago years. "Um... we were all always busy. Coming and going all the time from missions. Itachi was busier than everyone else so he was always so stressed out. He never had time for anyone, including himself. If the Hokage wasn't keeping him busy, his clan was. Most days were filled with apologies for not having time for me, but..." I tilt my head, shifting my focus back to the coffee maker.
     "But?"
     "But when things were good, they were so great. He's always been a romantic. Not like loud, elaborate romantic. More quite romantic," My heart swells with love for the dumb, murderous man I can't get over. My ring clinks against my coffee mug as I pull it out of the cabinet.
     "What's the difference between a loud and quite romantic?" The girl asks, scooting off the couch and joining me in the kitchen.
     I see her eye catch my ring as it continues to clink against different things I grab. It's Itachi's mother's wedding band. It was a gift he gave me; more like a sign of ownership. Tachi isn't too happy with Kakashi snuggling up to me.
     "I don't know how to explain it. A loud romantic is like someone who always has to hang on you when you're out and about. Someone that makes their love take up as much room as possible, I guess."
     The girl nods along as she listens to my words, eyes glossed over in confusion. Maybe I won't be able to show her as much comfort as I thought.
     "Quiet romantic is... things like your partner making you breakfast even though they can't stay to eat with you. Someone who takes care of things for you without you having to ask and half the time not notice. I don't know, something like that."
     The room is quiet again as I sip on my drink. I watch Sakura, her mind preoccupied. Perhaps she's rolling through memories of her Uchiha, trying to find the times of quiet love. I know it took me a while to figure it out; to put together Itachi's love for me wasn't any less because he chooses to show love in smaller, less noticeable ways.
     Thoughts of the ring in my hand fill my head as I focus on it. Was it a proposal? Or just his jealousy getting the better of him? How would that even work? Us being married?
     "How alike do you think Sasuke is to his brother?" My eyes jump up to meet the girl's green ones. The question hangs in the air for a while as I think it over.
     "Well, I don't know Sasuke as well as I did when he was younger. I think he's more like his brother than he likes, but less like him than he notices." The answer isn't really an answer, but I still think it fits. Itachi is driven by his undying love for his brother and me. Sasuke is driven by his hatred. Love and hate aren't as different as people think.
     "What's it like? Being in love with a Uchiha? Or, well, having a Uchiha love you back?" I notice the sadness trickle into her eyes but I leave it be. I know how hard it is to tell whether anyone - let alone a Uchiha - loves you back.
"Itachi is very busy with..." I stop myself, taking a second to glance around the room before setting back on Sakura. "Being rogue. No one... a ninja doesn't go rouge to do good things. I have to live with the fact that I know some of the things he's done, and the fact that he's done worse than he'll fess up too. It's scary but... it's also comforting."
"Comforting?" She asks, face scrunched up again. "How could it be comforting knowing you're with someone who has murdered people? A lot of people."
I let out another sigh, letting my eyes wonder again. "I spent a long time wondering why I couldn't get over him. Wondering why I liked a... murder more than any of the shibobis in the village. The answer I think I've settled on is when Itachi falls to his knees at my feet, when he holds my legs in desperation for my love, for any part of me I'm willing to give him, it causes... it makes me feel important, valued."
My eyes settle on Sakura again, her own eyes wide as she looks at me. "Uchiha's are very... ego-driven, but their love is so much stronger than their egos. When a Uchiha is willing to give you that love... it's almost set in stone that they would turn the world upside down for you."
I fall silent, giving her time to let my words sink in. "You don't think anyone else would do that for you?"
"No," I answer quickly, getting a bit frustrated that I can't word the feelings Itachi pours into me in a way that Sakura will understand. "A shinobi's purpose is to serve their village. A 'good' shinobi would sacrifice their partner for the village. Itachi would sacrifice everything in this world before he let anything happen to me."
My eyes study her face, trying to read her expressions. Her face is scrunched up for a while before it softens again; a light bulb turning on behind her eyes. Maybe this girl does understand what I'm saying, even just a little bit.
"Knowing someone would go to war if you're harmed is a better promise than knowing your partner will put their job above you. Don't get me wrong, I know how terrible of a person Itachi seems to be; how terrible he can be. People see him as a murderer, a selfish Uchiha, someone who excels at manipulation. But, I know where I lie on his priority list, I know anything I want will happen if I ask, I know at the end of the day his actions are to give me a better life, even if I don't understand."
Silence envelopes us again, me watching Sakura as she thinks over my words. "It doesn't seem as bad as Sensei made it sound," her voice is small as she continues to think.
"It probably is as bad as Kakashi made it seem. Nothing positive comes without a negative. I might be protected from everything in the world but it becomes isolating." I blink my eyes rapidly, pushing down my loneliness to stay matter-of-fact. "I don't know if it'll be the same with Sasuke, but carrying the weight of what Itachi could and would do if he sees someone as a threat, if he misreads a situation, or gets too jealous... it's scary knowing what he can do."
My hands are shaky as I lift my mug again. Thoughts swirl in my head as I sip on my drink. Am I putting Sakura in danger with this conversation? Will Itachi see her as a threat? Or will he leave it be? Does he know he's isolating me? Or is he doing it on accident?
"Uchiha-san?" Sakura calls, pulling me out of my thoughts as a weird feeling crawls up my stomach. I don't know if I like being called that.
"Yes, child?"
She stays quiet, staring at me for a while as she works out her next question. "Kakashi-Sensei said something like 'you're in an open cage with broken wings' or something. What does that mean?"
I smile softly at her, Kakashi's voice ringing in my head with the same quote he's said since the death of Sasuke's clan. "Your Sensei says that I 'live my life with the door of my cage open, but with the wound of clipped wings'."
"Yes! That's what he said!" The girl cheers a bit before the excitement is replaced with sadness again.
"It means I live in fake freedom. I'm free to do what I want when I want because of the safety net my Itachi offers me. However, I still live with the terrible things he's done. With the knowledge of the things he has and is willing to do."
Sakura's face sinks with my words. A bit of my grief rubbing off on her. "Is it worth it?" The question is soft and asked to her feet instead of me.
"I think it is. I... he's not around a lot. He's always busy but I know I'm always on my mind. I know that I'm loved." I stop again, resetting my head for a second before settling on my mini-me.
"Loving someone like Itachi - someone like Sasuke, means you give a lot. You give your time with them, your own time, always being on call because you don't know the next time you'll see them if there will be a next time. You give a lot of your emotions. Worrying about them and what they're doing, to who they're doing stuff to. Grievance to the people they hurt, to the life you used to have, to the person you used to love, the person you used to be."
I snap my eyes closed, tilting my head up at the bittersweet feeling forming with my next sentence. "You give love, so much love, unconditionally. You carry a million feelings wrapped up in that single feeling of love. Being that safe space for them, sharing their burdens, their mistakes."
I tilt my head back down, locking eyes with the younger girl again. "It's a lot of mental burden, and not everyone can carry that. If Sasuke loves you, he won't love you any else because you struggle with your feelings day to day. Some days I love Itachi more than life, some days I hate him, and some days I hate myself. No matter what I feel, Itachi still loves me, still knows it's his fault for my conflicting emotions, and he's patient with me."
Once again I watch, waiting for the girl's reaction. Her face is scrunched up again and I'm sure her mind is running a mile a minute. "Do you... do you think Sasuke will be like his brother?"
"I know Sasuke is not Itachi. I don't know what he'll be like, I don't know where you lay on his line of importance, I don't know anything about what he'll be like. What I do know is what might happen. What you might have to deal with. I can't predict the future but I can help you be prepared for it."
It takes a second but Sakura's face softens again, a sad smile on her lips as she looks at me. "Uchiha-San?" I hum a yes, preparing for whatever she's about to say. "I'm glad I have you to help me through this."
"I'm glad I can help you through this as well, child."
Kakashi
hi, anon! thank you for requesting!
i think i got a little too excited with this one so it's very long, but i hope you like it!
~ THIS IS UNEDITED ~
🛏 : A sleeping headcanon - Kakashi Hatake
Tumblr media
⚠️ trigger warnings/content: mentions of depression, nightmares and suicidal thoughts, but everything's ok at the end. overall it's just fluff.
ever since he was a kid kakashi has had nightmares. horrible, terrible ones. they're so terrifying he wakes up shivering, sweating. he knows he once slept peacefully, but he can't remember those days, they were long gone;
there was a time when he tried to sleep, tried tea, meditation, medication, train like crazy with Gai to see if he would fall asleep in a sleep with no dreams because if how tired he was, but nothing helped. nothing. he would still have those horrible images screaming inside his head, forcing him to wake up to a reality where these images were not only dreams. and he was responsible for it.
after a while he just stopped trying, doing everything he could to avoid sleeping - he would go in extra missions, read the same book over and over, walk around the village fixing everything he could, helping anyone he found, until he eventually fainted because his body was exhausted - those were the only times he could get some sleep, because his body refused to keep going without rest, so his mind agreed and for a while it was like he didn't even exist. until he had to wake up and face reality again;
kakashi didn't have any hope things would get better - all his life things only got worse and worse. and sure, he had his genins to take care of and who brightened up his life a little, but nothing could fill the hole he had in his heart, nothing could numb the pain, loneliness, the guilt. the only reason he didn't commit suicide was because he didn't want to cause that kind of pain on the people who loved him - a pain he knew too well. so he would keep on living the rest of life that was still reserved for him, living only for the others, secretly hoping he would die in the next mission, and then the next, and the next after that;
it was in a mission he went hoping to die that he met you. a kunoichi from another village, assigned to help his group;
there was nothing special about you, you looked like any other girl he had seen, nothing remarkable. so he didn't pay attention to you right away, it was just another ninja he had to work with, but you slowly ended up gaining his respect;
you were so awkward, always cracking jokes on the most improper and random times, clumsy but so graceful at the same time, and you were always making sure everyone was comfortable and safe, that the food was enough, that everyone ate well...
it was that side of you that won him. kakashi was used to taking care of those around him to keep him busy, but he forgot what it was like to have someone taking care of him. he actually felt like he never had that. even if his friends tried some things like to invite him out so he wouldn't be alone all the time, it seemed they didn't remember the little things - Kakashi himself didn't remember the little things. like the way you cooked considering what everyone liked and didn't like, how you cleaned and healed the wounds of your colleagues, how you scolded them, saying they needed to sleep.
you took care of your friends, and that kakashi respected very much.
and the more time he spent with you, the more he felt hugged and safe, which was weird because the mission was really dangerous.
the first night he noticed you had a stronger impact on him than he thought the group was camping for the night and you two were chosen to stay up and protect everyone in case someone attacked. you were both by the fire in silence. kakashi made you nervous, so you never knew what to say. it was not just that he was insanely hot, but he was an incredible shinobi, his reputation preceded him, and it seemed like everyone knew the great copynin, and you couldn't help but feel small and weak next to him;
but you noticed he hardly ever slept, there were always dark circles around his eyes. you were very observant and perceptive, that's how you became a jonin in first place, you used to notice things people didn't. so you knew Kakashi was probably tired, you only saw him sleeping once. yes, you were all ninjas, and ninjas barely sleep, but kakashi was way less.
"you know, the chances of someone attacking us tonight, here, are like... 4,2% and the chances of me dying before everyone wakes up are around 1% and the chances of hypothetical attackers murdering all of us are like 0%" you casually said, your eyes focused on the fire so you didn't have to look at kakashi.
"there are no 0% chances. ever." he didn't even lift his eyes from his book.
"you're right, but i'm just saying... we're both here now because everyone thinks we slept last night. i did sleep, but you didn't. i think you haven't slept in days, so if you want to go to sleep i am more than capable of handling things by myself." you looked up to him for the first time and he didn't know what to say.
you looked away back to the fire, blushing a little because kakashi was looking at you very intensely;
he ended up falling asleep shortly after in a very uncomfortable position, but you wouldn't dare touch him and waking him up. you couldn't help but smile he took your advice, even if he didn't go to one of the tents.
he woke up a few hours later, before the sunrise, before the others, feeling well rested. no nightmares. he didn't even remember what it was like to sleep peacefully. you whispered a "good morning" and smiled at him. that was the first time;
he had good nights of sleep during the rest of the mission, but as soon as it was over and you were all back to your villages the nightmares came back, stronger than ever. it was unsettling because now he knew you had the power to make them go away;
now he can only fall asleep with you in his arms, his nose sinking on the top of your head, smelling your hair. you try to complain when the weather is hot, but you always end up snuggling with him, whispering how much you love him before falling asleep yourself.
in the beginning of your relationship he used to wake up a lot during the night, just to check if you were still there, but now that he knows you won't leave in the middle of the night it's hard to wake him up - and then it's hard to convince him to get out of bed. he'll just tighten his grip around you and growl, telling you to go back to sleep.
he feels safe and loved when holding you so he'll spend the whole day in bed with you if he can. you can try to fight him, but you know he'll always win - kakashi doesn't play fair. he never did.
send me an emoji prompt and i'll write you a headcanon
Trick or Treat? TRICK!
Tumblr media
You're desperately looking for a travel companion, and it seems like you've just found one.
wc: 1.0k
cw/tags: elf kakashi, mention of fantasy racism, reader literally just picks him up bro like a wet kitten, fantasy setting,
Tumblr media
Since forever, you have always wanted to go on a big adventure, to travel through the world and to discover new foods and games. And no matter how much time passed, this dream did not change, rather it became more developed, more thoroughly planned. The only thing you still need is a partner, someone to travel with, to build trust and a relationship with, because there’s nothing better than to share your joy with another person. Even if you have no idea where to get someone willing to travel around without a proper goal, and how to convince anyone to just start wandering around with you. But you decided to try nonetheless, so you tried asking around, asking the people you know if they might know someone willing. But nobody ever had the slightest idea about anyone. They only suggested you ask the guild, but you don’t want to do that, you don’t want to spend money for such a measly thing, and you wanted someone who really wanted to be there to be at your side.
So, with no other option, you make your way into the closest pub, hoping to finally meet someone open to your idea. If this doesn’t work, well, you would need to think of something new.
With a sigh, you take a seat and let your eyes travel amongst the masses, trying to discover someone sitting all alone, just like you. Only it’s a bit different, isn’t it?
Finally, you spot a hooded person sitting all alone in the corner of this place, and you immediately know why: from that spot every possible exit is visible, and you cannot be surprised from behind. But you shrug, you have no malice, so why try to sneak up on them in the first place?
After a couple of steps you stop in front of the table, leaning forward to press your palms against the table. “Hello there, mind me joining you?” you ask, and still sit down without waiting for a response.
But he doesn’t seem to actually mind, as he barely reacts, aside from shifting his focus towards you, and you’re able to discern a dark eye, while the other is hidden by a patch. Half of his face is hidden behind the shadow of a cloth. He seems to have seen quite a bit, but what can you say, more experience is better for your endeavors, supposing he does join you.
“So, you’re alone, I’m alone, let’s make a deal,” you almost wince when you realize the possible implications, so you make haste to continue explaining your plans for the near future. “You see, I plan on being a traveler, but I still need a companion. What do you say? Me and you, going on the adventure of the century, wouldn’t that be amazing?”
A sigh as he leans back, his gaze hovering all over you, probably calculating whatever worth or trust you might have, so you smile, while also trying your best to not look like you can’t do anything on your own.
*Fine. Meet me tomorrow at the backdoor.” With these words he just stands up and exits the building, leaving you all alone to process what just happened.
And once you do, you can’t help but let out a celebratory ‘yes’. You did it, you managed to find someone to join you for the biggest adventure of your life, the only and first adventure of your life, but hey, aim high to get the best results, or something.
You hurry back home to finish the last preparation for the next day, barely able to fall back asleep after it, the nerves making your body feel too jittery. Yet you manage to finally take a bit of rest.
The next day, you make your way back to the pub and go around it, heading for the backdoor he had mentioned yesterday. To your surprise he’s already waiting there, leaning against the wall with the hood low on his head. And the closer you walk to him, the more you realize how well built he is, even with the cloak hiding the definitions of his body, his broad shoulders tell you more than enough. Still, you’re not intimidated, rather this makes you more excited as his experience will definitely help you in the long run.
You walk up to him and greet him with a good morning. He returns the greeting with a more causal one, before he decides to speak up again.
“I wanted to clarify something first before we actually head out…” he explains before pulling down his hood, revealing strands of pure silver, almost like the moon had given him this glow as a present. Silver hair, something common within the volk of the elves, and then your eyes snap to his ears, to his pointed ears, poking out of the strands of hair.
With this, you realize why he had been alone, and why he revealed this to you just now. Some people have some sort of twisted prejudice against elves, one you just don’t understand, even if you never had met a real elf before. That doesn’t change your opinion one bit. He trusted you with this knowledge, and you won’t break his trust. So, you do what you always do.
“Oh, I love your hair. I don’t see a problem. Rather I’m excited to finally start, come on!” you grab his hand and start dragging him along, grinning widely at the prospect of exploration.
His fingers clutch a little tighter at yours and if you had turned around you might’ve seen a smile twinkle in his eyes, even if his face remains hidden for a little while longer.
This is the beginning of your journey, one filled with joy, excitement, a blooming trust, and most importantly, more than just being companions, maybe even more than friends. And maybe this adventure won’t be the greatest of the century, but it is the greatest one to you, one you will never forget.
“..Kakashi?”
Your voice caused Kakashi’s thoughts to disappear almost automatically. He didn’t even realize that he had zoned out that hard. Those thoughts from that night practically consumed his head. He wasn’t expecting it to affect him that much, but he didn’t want to bring it up to you.
He had totally forgotten that you were in his arms. Your head, which was once on his chest, was now lifted upward so you had a better view to look at him. You honestly seemed a little concerned if he was being honest. He didn’t want you to start asking questions, so he figured he’d try to reassure you that everything was okay. The last thing he’d want is to worry you.
You already had enough going on, and he wasn’t going to make another issue for you to deal with.
Kakashi brushed his thumb against the swell of your cheek. “Yeah? Sorry, I was thinking about something, but I’m here. Do you need something?” he looked down at you with full attention.
You placed your hand against the shirt he was wearing. The fabric was soft beneath your fingertips. “Are you okay? You seem a little.. off, right now,” you cocked your head to the side in curiosity. You honestly weren’t sure what he was thinking about, but you wanted to know.
He smiled at you reassuringly. “I’m okay! Don’t worry about me,” he shook his head, “Trust me, you would know if I was feeling off,”
Your mouth parted open to speak, but you chose to not say anything. You figured that maybe he was right. Your brain hadn’t been working its best lately, so you honestly didn’t know what was okay and what wasn’t. Plus, you hadn’t known Kakashi well enough to know when he was feeling off or what that even looked like.
The one thought that crossed your mind was that you didn’t truly know Kakashi that well.
Sure, you knew of him for quite a while, but you didn’t know everything. That made you question why the hell he was here laying with you like this. The only time you two ever did much talking was that night.
That night.
You remember that night like it was the back of your hand.
The tears that slipped through your eyes that night seemed never ending. That had to be one of the lowest points of your entire life, and you couldn’t believe that you made it through that time period. You were certain the pain and agony you felt was going to be permanent. If nobody had come to you in that bathroom that evening, you didn’t know what you might have done to yourself that night. You’d probably drink until you couldn’t stand.
Then, he came.
Kakashi came and let you speak. He heard every single bitter detail of what you were going through, and he stayed through every waking moment. Besides Konan, nobody else listened to you. It was the same bullshit responses you’d get every single time.
“You’ll get over it!”
“Just think positive!”
It was hard enough dealing with it all, and everything they said would make it worse for you. You’d never tell them that, but you hoped that now they knew to never say things like that to someone who is going through something.
When you informed Konan of what you did, she was honestly baffled by your actions. You were in so much mental distress that you went out and did that? She wanted to lecture you about it, but, deep down, she knew that lecture would lead to an argument. As your best friend, she didn’t want to judge you for sleeping with Kakashi Hatake of all people. You hadn’t been yourself for so long, and, from what Konan had gathered, Kakashi had helped comfort a part of you that couldn’t feel anything.
Sometimes you still had questions about that eventful night. You wondered if Kakashi ever regrets it, or if he sees you completely differently.
You, personally, didn’t regret a single thing.
If anything, the intimacy he created with you that night made you feel something. He proved to you that you weren’t just some robot that had your feelings numb by some cheating jerk who couldn’t remain loyal to you. You were somewhat thankful that you two had sex. It opened your mind to many things, and you felt blessed that he didn’t walk away from you inside of that bathroom.
You and Kakashi never spoke about that night. Every time you saw one another, it was always very casual conversation. There was never anything brought up about sex or anything close to it. It was almost as if it didn’t even happen.
“Kakashi?” your eyes averted off of the carpeted floor to look at the boy before you. As soon as you spoke, his attention shifted towards you and his brows arched upward in curiosity.
“What’s up?” he twirled a piece of his smoke-colored hair around his index finger.
Part of you wondered if asking these questions would do you any good. You weren’t sure if he’d become uncomfortable or weirded out by your questions. Kakashi was a blank canvas to you. You honestly didn’t know his true colors, and you still felt like you didn’t have a single clue about him.
You chewed on your bottom lip nervously. “Do you.. have regrets about that night?” you swallowed thickly as the words came off your tongue. Your voice honestly sounded shaky and under confident.
Kakashi’s eyes widened once he understood what you were asking him. He felt like all of his words disappeared from his head. How the hell was he supposed to respond to that? He didn’t want to be an asshole and disregard it, but he knew that it was kind of hard to answer.
He didn’t want to give you the vibe that he was uncomfortable, because, truly, he wasn’t at all. It just took him by major surprise. He didn’t know that you still thought about that night. Kakashi honestly thought it was coincidental that you thought about it the same time he did. It was almost like you read his mind like a damn book to catch him in the act.
He cleared his throat to try and fix the awkward energy that was stirring around the room. “I mean.. no, I don’t really regret it. What happened between us happened, and I wouldn’t take it back whatsoever,” he replied, “Do you have regrets, (Y/N)?”
Honestly, that was a good question.
You honestly told yourself that you didn’t regret what you did with Kakashi. The only issue with that was that you were sleeping with his best friend. Obito had zero clue about it. Well, what does it matter now? He didn’t want anything to do with you anymore, so you didn’t need to hide it any longer.
You laughed softly, looking downward at the floor below you. “Honestly.. not really, that night you helped me a lot, so I don’t really have any regrets about it,” you tried your best to sound confident. You didn’t want to give off anything that sounded conflicting with your voice.
There was this sudden tension that filled the atmosphere around you.
You and Kakashi were so close to one another. His arms were still wrapped around your torso, and you were laying between his legs. The discussion of sex also filled the space around you, so that also created that tension. You could practically feel it when you breathed, and it caused your heart to start racing inside of your chest.
Kakashi leaned backwards onto the pillow that was behind his back. He did this so he could get a better view to look downward at you. There was a look inside of his eyes that was different than before. It almost looked like his once normal pupils were now dilated with desire filling the center of them.
“Do you.. ever think about that night sometimes?” he was staring at you quite intensely. It wasn’t enough to scare you or anything, but he seemed very determined to receive some kind of answer from you. He seemed almost pushy, but not pushy at the same time.
Your eyes didn’t leave his one bit. You just kept staring directly into them. “Y-Yes..” you swallowed thickly once again as the tension began to become thicker than it was before.
You could feel your body slowly heating up, and anticipation began to bubble inside of your belly. He was making you feel something. Something that felt similar to that night you had met him. Everything you were able to feel felt like deja vu all over again, and it was becoming hard to get away from him.
It was almost like Kakashi was a magnet, and you were the piece of metal that couldn’t pull away from him. No matter how hard you tried, you were being drawn to him.
Kakashi felt as if all of his emotions were being thrown all over the place. He could feel himself melting into you, and he didn’t want to reach away from you. He didn’t know if it was the smell of your daisy perfume, or it was how beautiful you looked down below him in his arms. He just couldn’t control himself.
He leaned close to your face. It was just enough so your lips were now inches apart from one another. You could smell the faint hint of mint that lingered on his breath.
“Do you ever wish.. we could recreate that night one more time..?”
All your brain could scream was yes. It was almost like the heat in your stomach was now bubbling over with how seductive he sounded. His voice was so smooth. It was practically driving you up the wall from how hot it was. You didn’t know, or rather care what happened after this.
You let out a shaky breath. “Yes.. yes, Kakashi,” your eyes flickered from his pretty lips to his eyes which were still watching you like a hawk.
The sound of Kakashi chuckling filled your ears. It wasn’t a laugh of mockery, no, but it was a laugh of seduction.
Before you even knew it, his hand grabbed your face. He then pressed his lips onto yours, causing a fiery kiss to erupt between the two of you. It was hot, and it was slightly rougher than what you were used to. It was addicting, you didn’t want to pull away from it. It was almost like the kiss ignited everything your brain forgot from that night, and it all flashed inside of your head like a camera taking pictures.
Your arms instinctively wrapped around his neck, and Kakashi took that as a sign to bring you on top of his lap.
Once on his lap, he placed his hands on your hips where he began to explore you. Occasionally, his hands squeezed at the plush of your ass, causing gasps to come from your mouth. He almost forgot how great your kisses were. The taste of your chapstick reminded him of that night. You were so delicious, he wanted to savor you so badly.
You whimpered once your clothed clit made contact with the bulge that formed underneath his shorts. Fuck, he was making you feel so fucking good. You were becoming so wet for him, and you wanted nothing more than to satisfy yourself.
Your fingers entangled themselves into the strands of his hair. You parted your lips slightly so Kakashi could dart his tongue into your warm mouth. This only made the two of you more desperate for one another. You couldn’t help but grind yourself against his aching cock. Your action earned a groan from Kakashi’s throat as he felt the friction.
He was growing more needy for you. The absolute desire to have you was taking over his body. He felt as if he couldn’t hold back on you. Kakashi craved nothing more than you. He thought about that night more often than he’d like to admit, but nobody else will know that except for him.
Smacking sounds came from your lips as your kisses grew sloppier. His hands wandered around your exposed skin, causing several small moans to come from your mouth. You had such a sweet voice. He always recognized it whenever he was out and about. It practically swam inside of his head when you were begging for him to let you cum that night when you were laying down before him in the sheets.
Things were growing more intense between the two of you. Kakashi’s hands were dipping lower and lower towards your wet core.
You were about to feel his touch when your brain suddenly saw him.
You weren’t exactly sure why you were seeing him inside of your head at a time like that. The image was foggy and almost hard to see, but he was there inside of your head. Everything you had done together played like memories on a film.
It wasn’t Kakashi, no, it wasn’t Itachi either.
It was Obito.
He was smiling inside of your head. That once adorable grin you loved to see everyday was present on his features. He seemed so happy to be with you. Every single detail was painted inside of the walls in your brain. It brought you such nostalgia. You honestly couldn’t believe it had been almost two or three weeks since the two of you last spoke. All of this time had passed by, but, yet, it felt like it happened yesterday.
Sometimes you wished you’d wake up with Obito lying right beside you. You hoped that this was some horrible nightmare that would eventually come to an end, but, unfortunately, that day never came. You still woke up every morning without him by your side.
You missed Obito, my god, you missed Obito more than anything else.
There was a side of you that wanted to believe Kakashi was Obito. You wanted to trick your brain into believing it, but, to no avail, your brain knew better than you did. Kakashi could never ever be like Obito. Nobody else could compare to the sweet boy you had been longing for. His lips weren’t like Obito’s, he didn’t kiss like he did, none of it was like him. None of it was the same, and, deep down, you knew that was a fact.
No, you couldn’t do this to yourself. You couldn’t do this again with Kakashi. He had already assisted you once before, and, sure, it benefited you in some ways, but it was temporary. All of your healing came from yourself, and you couldn’t use Kakashi to mend the pain inside of your chest. It wasn’t his responsibility, nor was it his obligation.
You came back into reality faster than the speed of light. You realized that you were still on top of Kakashi, and you were both still making out with one another.
Your hands went to place themselves onto his chest. You pulled yourself backward so the kiss was now broken. Kakashi kept trying to lean forward to catch your lips again, but you looked down at him to shake your head. You knew you couldn’t do this with him again. God knows what would happen if you two slept together again. What if this time Obito found out?
Kakashi seemed genuinely concerned, his once sly smirk turned into a worried expression within the snap of a finger.
His hands almost instantly removed themselves off of your body. “Are you.. alright..? Did I make you uncomfortable..?” he was searching your face to see what you were feeling. Kakashi had this bad feeling inside of his gut. He hoped he didn’t push you to the edge. Kakashi’s intentions were pure and they weren’t harmful one bit.
You let out air through your nose. You could feel your heart slamming against your rib cage. “No, no, you didn’t, Kakashi,” you finally looked into his eyes, “I just.. I don’t think we should do this. We don’t know what’ll happen,”
You saw his face soften from your words. Kakashi couldn’t force you into anything you didn’t want, and you had a point. You two had done this once before, and, even though neither of you spoke after that, it didn’t mean that something bad couldn’t form from doing it again. It was dangerous enough that you two already had sex once, but twice? You’d be digging your graves.
He could see how shameful you felt. In his opinion, there was nothing you had to be embarrassed about. You had every right to stop the situation, and he wasn’t going to judge you for that. Kakashi was there for you, and he was always going to be your friend.
He also knew how you felt about Obito.
Kakashi was angry with his best friend at the moment, but he couldn’t necessarily bring himself to try and change your feelings about Obito to bring you to have sex with him. Your dynamic was one that he had zero intention of messing with. Hell, if you two did have sex, that would only make things worse for you and Obito.
Rin would probably find out somehow too.
He placed his hand onto your shoulder, giving you a reassuring squeeze. “Don’t worry about it, I completely understand. I shouldn’t have said those things anyway, so I’m sorry for that,” his voice was very sincere, and you honestly hadn’t heard him sound that serious before. It honestly settled a lot of that anxiety you had about stopping the situation.
You gave him a small smile. “Thank you for understanding me, Kakashi, I just didn’t want you to get mad at me. I shouldn’t have talked about that night,” you rubbed your forehead as you spoke to him.
Kakashi laughed, “Don’t even worry about it. We all have questions and it’s okay that you asked them. You’re an amazing person, (Y/N), I’d never get upset with you over something like this. Don’t fret about it, I promise,”
All of those worries you had slowly began to disappear. You honestly needed that reassurance from Kakashi. Part of you was nervous that he’d possibly get upset over you practically cock blocking him, but you were relieved that he wasn’t. He was an understanding person, and you were glad he had that trait with him.
“I appreciate you, Kakashi,” you smiled at him with generosity.
Kakashi sat up so he was sitting straighter than he was before. “Anytime,” he tapped your shoulder once more, “I think I’m going to head out though, because I really want to play some basketball with the guys,”
You nodded your head, “Okay! Sounds good, thanks again for stopping by,”
He started to chuckle at you which made your eyebrows furrow. You wondered what he was laughing about. “Uh, you know, I can’t leave unless you’re not sitting on me like this,” he looked up at you with this cocky smirk like he usually did.
You quickly realized what he meant and your cheeks burned with embarrassment. “Oh! Right! Sorry..” you instantly began to maneuver yourself off of his lap. You honestly needed to learn how to read the room. All of the time you spent in your room really messed with your head.
Kakashi sat up, and a few of his joints cracked as a result of his movements. You stood beside him next to the couch as he rose from his spot on the cushions.
The two of you walked into the direction of the front door. You honestly were very happy Kakashi was there to help you. Things were slowly starting to become better for you, and it was almost as if you could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sure, you had a lot of healing to do, but you knew it was going to be easier with the friends you had around you. It didn’t feel like you were all alone like before.
Kakashi turned to face you as he opened the wooden door to your apartment. The air from the hallway began to seep in from his actions. “If you need me, you know where I’m at,” he pulled out his phone and nodded his head towards it.
You shook your head, understanding what he was trying to tell you. You were glad you had his support. It made this situation a lot easier to bear, and you had more confidence than you did prior.
“Of course, thank you again, Kakashi,” you felt a smile grow onto your cheeks. The grin you wore didn’t feel fake either, and it felt so genuine. You hadn’t felt that in the last couple of weeks, and you felt better knowing it wasn’t forced anymore.
He waved at you before stepping out into the hallway, leaving you by yourself inside of your apartment. The door shut with a final click, and silence enveloped all around you. You honestly didn’t know what you were going to do with yourself for the rest of the afternoon, but you felt really hungry.
You then remembered you had some McDonald’s waiting for you in the living room, so you figured you’d go and have a quick bite to eat.
You started smiling to yourself when you realized that maybe this nightmare would finally come to an end. For once, you felt like you were going to make it through this tough time. You honestly didn’t want to sulk anymore. You didn’t want to let this destroy you, and you wanted to do something about it. You desired to go back to your life, and you were over feeling bitter all of the time.
It was time for changes, and you were ready to bounce back.
-
Slamming the driver’s side door of his car, Kakashi ran his fingers through his hair. The air was still quite warm, but it wasn’t too hot for him to start complaining. The day was perfect and beautiful. The sun was high and bright in the baby blue sky, and there wasn’t a single cloud dancing around it.
It was a great afternoon for some basketball.
Taking in his surroundings, he noticed a majority of the frat guys were out of the house. This was for sure a fact because most of the cars were out of the driveway, but only one car remained and that irritated Kakashi knowing whose car it belonged to.
It was Obito’s car.
Kakashi wasn’t sure why he was still at the house. Usually, he was out and about during most of the day, but today he wasn’t. It was kind of irritating if he was being honest. He didn’t want to deal with the Uchiha and his unnecessary behavior. He had this habit of poking at Kakashi’s buttons whenever he had the chance, and it was beyond exhausting. The only time he actually shut his mouth was when the other guys were around.
Kakashi began to mentally prepare himself as he walked the concrete path that led to the entrance of the house. Once he was in front of the door, he placed his hand on the knob and slowly pushed the door open. He could feel the cool air from the air conditioner wrapping around his warm skin as he walked inside of the house.
The environment inside of the house was very quiet. Kakashi could almost hear a pin drop if he was silent enough, but that most likely meant that Obito was upstairs in his room. It was somewhat of a good thing, because that meant Kakashi didn’t have to interact with him. He just wanted to go inside and get right back out to play some basketball with his friends.
He removed his shoes, heading in the direction of the kitchen. All he needed was to grab some water and then he’d head out. Kakashi figured he’d just wear the clothes he had on now. Changing would take him too much time and he didn’t want to risk the possibility of seeing Obito, because, frankly, he took any chance to say stupid things to Kakashi.
Once in the kitchen, he walked to the fridge to grab the many water bottles that sat on the top shelf. He grabbed three of them and placed them on the counter beside the fridge. He was glad that Shisui restocked them before he came home. Otherwise, he’d have some gross room temperature water that wouldn’t refresh him at all.
As he shut the fridge, he heard the sound of fast footsteps coming down the staircase near the living room. Kakashi rolled his eyes once he realized who was coming. There goes the idea of him avoiding Obito completely. He’d just have to ignore the Uchiha the best he could, but he honestly didn’t think it would be possible. He had a habit of being really fucking annoying.
Obito turned the corner to see Kakashi standing in the kitchen. He honestly was surprised to see him there, but he wasn’t interested in what he was doing. Obito could care less what he did anymore. He just wanted to grab a quick snack and head back upstairs for the rest of the afternoon. He didn’t have much interest in talking with the other guys either. All of them pissed him off so easily. It was difficult to have normal conversations anymore without his mood being absolutely changed.
He stepped into the kitchen, giving Kakashi no type of acknowledgement. It didn’t seem like the gray-haired man wanted anything to do with him either, so it was mutual.
Kakashi stood by the counter for a few moments. He wanted to send a few messages to his friends to see if they were open to playing some basketball with him. Usually, it’d be Obito he would go and play with, but those days were over. The circumstances made it worse. He hoped that there would be someone he could play with, but he was fine if he had to play solo. It wasn’t that much of a bother.
Obito was kind of annoyed that Kakashi was still standing there. He absolutely despised the idea of having to walk past him. He didn’t like coming close to his best friend, because it honestly made Obito more irritated that he had to get close to some loser.
But, he didn’t have much choice. He was hungry, and he wasn’t going to wait there forever. Obito didn’t have much patience nowadays, and he wasn’t going to try and settle it by waiting for Kakashi to move over.
He then walked beside Kakashi, making sure to not accidentally touch or make contact with him. He successfully made it to the other side of the kitchen, so he decided to look for something inside of the cabinets to eat. He was going to honestly lose it if he couldn’t get some food. Obito usually had a big appetite, but he blamed it on the intense workout he did earlier that morning.
As Obito searched, something filled his nose. It was a familiar aroma. It brought him back to a time he could recall like it was yesterday. The smell made every cell in his body freeze, and it honestly alarmed him. He tried to shake away the smell as possibly it being his imagination, but it still remained there.
The scent of your perfume was filling his nose. It practically sent him back to the many times you two hung out with one another. Obito could see every precious memory inside of his brain. He couldn’t believe the scent was around. He thought he had pushed away those thoughts of you, but, to his surprise, they were glued to the walls inside of his mind.
Obito knew damn well you weren’t at the frat house, so where was it coming from? Did he possibly forget to wash the shirt he was wearing? It made him begin to question what was happening.
He then turned his body around. The sudden realization hit Obito like a ton of bricks, and he could feel his anger boiling inside of his body. He quickly found out where the aroma was coming from, and there was absolutely no mistake. He wasn’t imagining your scent. He wasn’t making it up. Your perfume was around, and it wasn’t coming from you. It was quite the opposite in fact.
The scent of your Marc Jacobs Daisy Love perfume was coming directly from Kakashi.
The absolute fury Obito felt was like no other. He swore to God he was seeing red in that moment. The idea of your perfume fuming off of Kakashi made him disgusted. His body was heating up, and he had so many things he wanted to say. He knew it was odd that Kakashi had been leaving the house frequently, but he never expected him to be spending time with you. What the fuck were the two of you doing?
He had a pretty great idea. Knowing your behavior with Kakashi in the past, you two were probably doing that. It wouldn’t shock him one bit, but the damn nerve Kakashi had was sending Obito over the edge.
He couldn’t control himself, there was no way he could.
“Where the fuck were you?”
Obito’s serious voice brought Kakashi’s attention away from his cellphone. He lifted his head to meet Obito who was staring directly at him. Though, his expression was not what he was expecting to see. It didn’t scare Kakashi, but it was very alarming. It didn’t seem right, he hadn’t seen a look like that on Obito before. He’s known him for a while and he’s seen his best friend pissed many times before, but he hadn’t seen him that infuriated before.
His eyes were dark, they seemed like an abyss you could get lost in. Kakashi could see his hand was clenched into a fist, and he was twitching. Obito’s face was extremely serious. He could also see his breathing becoming heavier. Kakashi was very confused, and he was extremely concerned by him. He didn’t know what was going on.
“What are you talking about? I was on campus? I had classes today, you should know this,” Kakashi clicked his phone off to focus on Obito. He wasn’t sure what he was trying to get at, but he was determined to figure that out.
Obito’s expression didn’t change, if anything, he seemed more angrier than he did at first. “No you weren’t, don’t fucking lie, Kakashi,” he sounded close to snapping. This was rubbing Kakashi the wrong way. He didn’t understand why Obito was acting the way he was.
He started to wonder if Obito somehow figured out that he was with you. He didn’t tell anyone where he was going, and he was on campus for a little while. Though, he wanted to stop by to check on you, but he never told anyone specifically where he was heading. He hadn’t even spoken to anyone that morning besides the other frat guys. Even so, he hadn’t mentioned a single thing.
Kakashi questioned if Rin somehow saw him with you, but he didn’t think it was possible. There was no possible way she knew where you lived. Hell, Rin barely knew a single damn thing about you except that you fucked Kakashi.
Unless Obito was accusing him of something completely different, Kakashi had no idea what the hell was going on. He had no intention of telling Obito that he was with you. He wouldn’t know what might happen if he revealed that fact. Seeing how he was acting before him now, he needed to get to the bottom of his anger.
Kakashi stood his ground, looking at Obito with a serious face. “What are you trying to get at? I was on campus, I literally just walked through the door a few minutes ago,” he crossed his arms, “I don’t know what the fuck your problem is, but cut it out. It’s not your business where I go anyway,”
“Did she slut herself out for you again?”
The color in Kakashi’s face drained almost instantly. Did Obito figure it out? There was no way! He never told anybody he was going out to see you. He had to be speaking about somebody else, because there was no way he was talking about you.
He could feel anger starting to flow through his veins. “What the fuck did you just say? Who the hell are you talking about?” he started walking towards his best friend. Kakashi was so over Obito and his stupid words. He wished he could do something about it, because it was getting ridiculous.
Obito scoffed, shaking his head in the process. He couldn’t believe the shit he was hearing. “Did I stutter? Stop acting so stupid, Kakashi, playing dumb won’t get you anywhere. You know damn well who I’m talking about,” his words were like venom, toxic.
Kakashi clenched his jaw, trying to hold in the emotions that threatened to fall out of his mouth. “You better not be talking about her. I swear to God, Obito, you know damn well you’re wrong,” he glared at him with dagger-like eyes.
A chuckle came from Obito’s throat. His serious expression turned into an almost evil looking smirk. “It doesn’t surprise me, Kakashi, (Y/N) did it once with you, and it isn’t shocking that she did it again. I should’ve known she was a fucking whore,” he rolled his eyes in complete annoyance at the thought of you.
Kakashi didn’t know what it was inside of him that made him move so quickly, but, before he knew it, he was standing directly in front of Obito. He peered at him with a dangerous look written all over his features. Obito was even slightly taken back from it all. He barely had any time to react to what he was doing.
He was at his breaking point, no, Kakashi was beyond angry. He became so infuriated with Obito. It was the first time in his entire life that he actually wanted to do something to him. It wasn’t good at all.
“You’re talking some really big stuff, little guy,” he clenched his fist, “You act like you weren’t a complete slut at one point. Do I have to name them, Obito? Yasmine? Or what about Cassie? Hailey? Or was it Harley? What about those two girls you had sex with in one night? Huh? What the fuck do you have to say about that? I find it ironic that you’re throwing a fit over me and (Y/N) as if you weren’t fucking around with others in the past,”
Silence suddenly filled the room, which made Kakashi laugh. He couldn’t believe that Obito didn’t have a single thing to say in response to his words. He wasn’t going to let Obito destroy you like that, and make you seem like a bad person. You truly weren’t, and, most of all, you weren’t a fucking slut.
He wasn’t going to stop there, oh no. Kakashi had plenty of things he wanted to say, because Obito needed a fucking reality check. He wanted to be the one to give it to him, because, being truthful, Kakashi was sick of his stupid bullshit he was pulling.
“You acted like she was yours or something. I’ll be the one to tell you the honest fucking truth that she was never yours, Obito. She didn’t belong to you, and she never will,” he stared at him intensely as he spoke to him. He wasn’t holding back anymore, and, frankly, he didn’t want to.
Obito felt everything inside of him snap. He was beyond angry, and he couldn’t stop himself anymore.
Kakashi’s eyes went wide when he felt Obito’s fist make contact with his cheek. He had punched him, and hard. It took him completely by surprise, and, to be honest, Kakashi could barely process what the hell happened. It all occurred so quickly.
Though, he wasn’t about to just sit there and take it.
Kakashi could feel the bruise forming against his skin, but he held back the pain to go after Obito. “So that’s what you want to do, huh?!” he could feel the rage soaring inside of him. It was making his body warm.
He walked forward to shove Obito backwards. This action only made him angrier, so he lunged towards Kakashi to try and grab at him. However, Kakashi was well prepared for that, and he was able to land a hard punch onto Obito’s nose. It was so hard that the nerves inside his hand started to pulsate and feel staticy. He’s never experienced that before, but he could care less.
The pressure against his nose caused Obito to reach up to touch his now sore nose. He could feel the warmth of liquid trickling down from his nose towards his mouth. The iron taste of blood filled his tongue, causing him to cringe.
Obito wiped the crimson liquid off of his lip before going towards Kakashi again. This time, he was able to sock him in the stomach. Kakashi coughed when the tight pain inside of his abdomen made itself known. It practically knocked the air out of him, and it hurt a lot. He wasn’t expecting that to happen.
“You’re a piece of shit! You know that?! What the hell do you gain from this?!” Kakashi held his hand over his stomach to try and ease the ache that was spreading throughout his stomach.
Obito scoffed, rolling his eyes. “You deserve to get your ass beat. All you’ve ever done is ruin things for me,” he looked down at his once best friend with rage-filled eyes. He didn’t see Kakashi as his friend anymore, not after this.
While hunched over, Kakashi took the opportunity to bring Obito down. He sprang forward to knock him onto the floor. Obito was caught off guard. His head instantly hit the hardwood floor, causing him to hiss in pain from the sudden contact.
Kakashi took all of the strength inside of him to lay punches onto Obito’s face. He landed only about two before he caught his wrist in his left hand. The constant force against his face was causing sharp pain to scatter along his cheeks, and bruises were slowly forming onto his once clean skin. His left eye was also becoming swollen from Kakashi’s assault on it.
Obito took the open opportunity to land his fist onto Kakashi’s mouth. It ultimately freed Obito, because the punch made Kakashi move backwards. It hurt, and it hurt bad. His teeth practically bit his bottom lip, and the inside of his mouth was filled with blood. A bitter and disgusting taste that made Kakashi want to vomit.
Since Kakashi was now knocked onto the floor, Obito grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. All he saw was red when his mind imagined the thought of him fucking you again. Your voice calling out to him, and not Obito. It enraged him, and he couldn’t wait to hit him again. He needed to feel the shit Kakashi had put him through.
“What the fuck?! What’s going on here?! Stop!”
Kakashi and Obito both paused to turn their heads towards the voice. They were met with Rin and her worried expression.
The girl seemed genuinely terrified of what the two boys were doing. She didn’t expect to come by and see that. It was true she hadn’t spoken to them in a while, but she didn’t think the things between them were that bad. Obito and Kakashi were best friends. Their friendship being turned sour made Rin feel terrible.
Obito let go of Kakashi, standing up straight so he could look at Rin more clearly. “What the hell are you doing here?” his tone was irritated, and he could care less about what she had to say. He wasn’t particularly interested in speaking to Rin anyway. Obito realized a lot while she was away, and he didn’t want to deal with her right now.
Rin’s eyes flickered from Kakashi to Obito. She had so many questions. “Why are you beating him up?! No, why are you two even fighting?! Guys, this isn’t like you at all!” she stepped towards them with caution. It seemed worse as she grew closer.
Their faces were turning all kinds of blues and purples. Blood clung to the bottom of Obito’s nose, and Kakashi’s lip was busted open. Blood pooled from the wound, and his bottom lip was slowly swelling up.
She never imagined the two could inflict those kinds of wounds on one another.
Kakashi flinched once his fingertip made contact with the bruise on his cheek. It was hot, and it was only growing more painful. He was also bothered by Rin’s presence. After all, she was the one who created this entire mess.
“Rin, just leave! We want nothing to do with you anymore, so get out. I don’t want to see you here ever again,” he shoved past her to head up to his room. He had to clean himself up, and he didn’t want anyone else to see him like this.
Rin turned and watched as Kakashi disappeared around the corner. She briefly heard the sound of him rushing up the stairs. She honestly felt an ache inside of her chest when Kakashi’s words processed through her mind. She never thought things would ever be like this.
She shifted her attention towards Obito. He was staring at her, but he said absolutely nothing as he walked past her. Rin flinched as the bathroom door slammed shut on the first floor.
Rin honestly felt helpless in this situation.
She cared for Obito and Kakashi more than anything in the world. She adored being friends with them, and she never imagined a world where she’d actually see the two beating the living shit out of one another. It honestly hurt her seeing the two like that. She couldn’t believe this was all happening.
It was almost as if she couldn’t recognize them anymore. They were completely different compared to before, and she had no idea if they’d ever rebuild their friendship again. It seemed almost impossible with the circumstances.
What angered her was the fact that you were to blame for this. You slept with Kakashi and Obito. You’re the reason why all of this fell apart, and Rin hated how you weren’t taking responsibility for a single thing. Hell, she hadn’t seen you on campus in weeks. Were you hiding from the truth? Because it sure felt like it. You were a fucking coward, and Rin wasn’t going to let you slip by like that.
Maybe Obito was right, maybe you were a fucking whore.
Rin was now determined to do something about this. She wasn’t going to let her friendship crumble apart because of you. There was no fucking way she’d let you get away with this. You needed to know what the hell you had done.
Once she saw you, she wasn’t going to hold back.
anyways i just read all of naruto in like a week so i am now qualified to have The Most Correct Opinions.
Land of Waves arc is unironically the best one
its also the ONLY standard mission in the entire manga?? literally, at no point does anyone interact with a client after tazuna, its all in response to orochimaru/akatsuki. Naruto your resume is ridiculous. The reason Kakashi is 6th Hokage is not because Naruto wasn't strong enough, but because he needed to learn what the actual job of being a ninja entails. Yes you are very strong but you do need to have a basic grasp of paperwork systems.
Its kind of weird that, out of all the akatsuki, kisame is the one who hangs around the longest. Most of the others show up, do their bit, and then are immediately killed. Kisame is introduced first and dies last.
i've already mentioned this in another post but the Cycle of Hatred thing does not work. It worked as a motivation for Pein, but like. The reason the villages kept declaring war on each other wasn't for revenge, it was because their economic system was inherently tied to being the one with the strongest military and also they were paranoid that if someone else got too strong they would be invaded first.
Related: they should've had warring clans exposition and details about the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd wars BEFORE Pein showed up. If there were more details about wars in the past presented in a tragic-but-still-overall-necessary light, then Pein showing up and going "you miserable bastards trample over everyone weaker than you and deserve to be punished or it." It would have had more weight. Literally you could've slotted this during Naruto's initial training with Jiraiya as a follow-up to Hiruzen's "The chuunin exams are a replacement for war" speech.
Sakura why the fuck didnt you marry Ino
Kishimoto did Sakura so dirty at every turn. Literally every time she gets screentime she goes "THIS TIME... I WILL BE THE ONE WHO PROTECTS YOU...!" and has a cool moment, and then gets immediately overshadowed.
Literally at one point she's like "in the chuunin exams i was so weak... i hid behind you guys at every turn" and i felt like I was going insane because both during wave and the chuunin exams she has moments where she's like "yeah i dont have any special powers but i DO have a knife and you're going through me FIRST, fucker" which is honestly way cooler to me than like 90% of all the jutsu bullshit. Literally she stands in between a berserk gaara and a crippled sasuke armed with nothing but a kunai and pure fucking grit.
its very funny to me that the first time naruto ever does a nature transformation its rasenshuriken. Kakashi woke up in a cold sweat one day and realized he forgot to do the most basic teaching about chakra theory when they were genin. Whoops.
Im sorry but i legitimately do not care about the sage OR his sons OR the reincarnation twist. Its not interesting to me and I WILL be ignoring it. I'm all for the sage being reminded of his kids or the idea of history being cyclical, but explicitly going "no youre a reincarnation, this was Fated" is dumb and kishimoto SHOULD feel bad.
Edo Tensei arc is unironically very funny to me. Kabuto is having a mid-life crisis and has turned into a snake about it, and has decided to raise a bunch of dead badasses for. reasons. honestly i am not sure how his goals required obito or the akatsuki??
Anyways he raises a bunch of badasses and WHOOPS theyre all comedians. Deidara and Sasori are bickering, Itachi is being even more of an unhinged control freak than normal, the Mizukage is curbstomping everyone while berating them for not hitting the weakpoints he's explicitly telling them about, Tobirama is annoyed at everyone but mostly himself for actually coming up with this jutsu, and madara puts his entire plan on hold for a minute because he sensed his ex boyfriend and got incredibly horny.
Orochimaru gets brought back to life and promptly goes "actually i take back my plans about konoha, watching sasuke is INFINITELY more entertaining. Also I'm going to help out against the akatsuki because Kabuto's snake fursona is a tacky knockoff of me and I'm disowning him for being lame." I also liked him being chummy with Tsunade, that was very cute. I kind of wish Jiraiya HAD gotten edo tensei'd so that all three sannin could have been reunited on the same side? It would have been cute??
I feel strongly that Sakura and Karin deserve to go to some hot springs together and mutually complain to each other about being unfortunately attracted to the most misogynistic man on the planet after kishimoto himself. Orochimaru and Ino can tag along because they LOVE gossip and complaining.
Gai being the only person on the planet strong enough to beat the crap out of Madara is great, actually. Yes you can block all ninjutsu and genjutsu, but can you block his fists? No.
The "special chakra" produced in uchiha brains is actually entirely unrelated to the sharingan. It mostly just causes brain damage. This is why Madara, Obito, and Sasuke are all Like That.
Obito's heel face turn and the ensuing team up with Kakashi is, against all odds, actually good. I am willing to overlook Obito temporarily coming back from the dead through sheer willpower both because its cool and because we've already established chakra is bullshit and ghosts exist.
Obito your plans are dumb, your motivation is stupid, your critical thinking skills are nonexistent, and your coping mechanisms are insane. Somehow I still like you, despite this??
Does anybody at all like kaguya. Anybody.
Everything about the epilogue annoys me. Mirai and Sarada can stay, everything else I am actively choosing to ignore.
Frankly I'm confused and appalled that kishimoto wrote sasuke and naruto like that, and then put them in heterosexual marriages with other people.
Thinking about the concept of trans Kakashi being given a newly out Naruto and how they help each other learn and grow. Think kind of like those 5 things + 1 thing tropes, that type of vibe.
Kakashi having came out at a young age was able to get to a point where no one really knows. He'd always just gotten on with it and no one questioned that he ever could have been born female. It was all a quiet thing, they made sure he was sure about it but were willing to assist him with transitioning and not making a big fuss over it. Medical files had a note in case it was needed but it was mostly just his choice if he wanted to tell people.
Naruto however, was a loud and proud newly out trans kid. Takes it a lot harder when people slip up on names and pronouns. Willing to talk openly about how he realised and what his goals are with transitioning.
At first Kakashi struggles with having this kid around because it's never been something he felt the need to be proud about, it was another thing that just made him different after all. Who wanted to publicly share something like that?
But things start to shift the closer Naruto gets to being allowed to start hrt. Kakashi recalling his own anxieties when he was told how they'd have to do an interview with him beforehand just to make sure it was a choice he really wanted. He thought it was dumb that a bunch of cis people got the final say on him being "trans enough" to have access to medicine so he ended up offering to go with Naruto as moral support.
Whilst he wasn't allowed in the room during the interview, he'd spent the morning helping Naruto go over what the questions might be like and explaining to him that he shouldn't need their approval for something like this but that he'd support him regardless of the outcome.
He'd still never explicitly said to Naruto that he was trans too, maybe he didn't need to anymore but something in him was nagging him that he should just say something. Being the "different" kid was never an easy thing but being the trans kid came with a whole set of other issues.
Like the time he'd been genuinely taken aback by Naruto telling him how half the village didn't care what name he went by because they'd portray him as evil anyways. Kakashi had always been glad to come out so young because it saved him a lot of the social transition stress with his peers but Narutos story was just another layer of pain ontop of an already difficult situation. That was probably the first time he'd truly related to the kid.
Which made it no surprise that when Naruto reappeared with a huge smile on his face that Kakashi couldn't help but offer a sincere one back.
Kakashi is ultimately the one to teach Naruto various things from how he can cut his hair in masc ways to how to figure out his clothing sizes. He was even there to help with his first T shot, playing it off as a worry that Naruto could hurt himself if done wrong so he'd supervise to be sure nothing happened.
Navigating some topics were admittedly harder though like binding, how to do it safely, how long you can do it for, stretches that can help.
When Kakashi finally did outright confirm himself being trans he hadn't expected for Naruto to be shocked. After all how else would he know about all this stuff when most of the village hardly got even the concept of being trans?
But in typical Naruto fashion he had to listen to the excited, over exaggerated response as it finally dawned on him that there was someone else like him. When Naruto did calm down about it, Kakashi noticed that he did feel better about finally saying it, getting the words "I'm transgender" to the other person in the village who could get his experiences was just refreshing. Especially as Naruto eased the tension by explaining how he just assumed that Kakashi was a good ally like how Gai is always aggressively supportive of him. Only for Kakashi to sigh and nod. He remembered his coming out to Gai, it was the biggest most dramatic response that Kakashi would have normally hated. But it was so incredibly Gai that he just didn't mind.
Some of his old friends from his ANBU days knew too, not that they'd ever say anything without his permission.
And when Iruka had found out that Kakashi would be teaching Naruto it had sparked them to become closer so they could discuss their student. Eventually leading to him comforting Iruka that it would be strange for him to be transphobic towards another trans person. Iruka seemed to process it in waves, comfort that his student was safe, confusion in his phrasing, understanding what he meant, acceptance.
But after all this time with Naruto and seeing how the village seemed to warm up to him slowly and accept him wholly for who he is, it made him wish he had more of that acceptance rather than just keeping it something he pushed down.
So deciding it was about time to change things, he followed in Naruto's footsteps for once and started to casually bring up his gender in some conversations. Mostly just little jokes here and there. If Naruto could so bravely be open and proud, then maybe he could do.
Battle Headcanon for when Kakazu and Kaashi fought to the death!
I had another thought, and realized if Gai is still born on New years, maybe mortals are not the only ones to celebrate the holiday and Gods have their own banquet where they meet up and party hardy. Sure they all have their own responsibilities to get to, but if they're finished up or caught up on what they need to do, almost everyone drops in for a visit. Maybe this only happens every 100 years though, instead of once a year (since they're immortal).
Anyway with all the gods here, Kakazu took the opportunity to act on an idea he has had for a while now. He overheard Gai would be born soon, and took the time to find the family, and would you know it, the human was born on the same day every god would be busy partying. He's decided to take Gai for himself for some reason. Spiting Kakashi, selling him for profit, trying to invoke his transformation into a dragon, or turning him into a follower and influencing to chage the world so they appreciate him more, as he noticed Gai's lives tend to invoke large scale change every time he shows his face, and maybe he could use that so it benefits him.
Whatever the case, it will piss off Kakashi so that will at least make this entire thing worth it. So he ends up killing the parents and going to the nursery to take the baby. With the gods distracted no one will stop him.
Only, Kakashi had went to the party for a bit and ended up talking to Obito, who told him about Gai's successful reincarnation and his assurance that he was looking forward to another happy and peaceful life, just like the teacher one last time. In fact being born on new years, at the start of a new century, would probably make him super lucky! Kakashi gets a weird gut feeling though. Maybe its because he didn't see Kakazu skulking around for money or picking a fight with him, maybe its just been a while since he saw Gai as a baby (last time he saw him that small was probably Prince Gai!) and he's feeling nostalgic. He probably misses Gai deeper this time because last time they were in a committed relationship for 60+ years. And he'd like to just check on the family to make sure its as good as Obito says and to wish him happy birthday.
Whatever the case he goes down. Immediately sees a problem, and zaps himself into the nursery. He sees Kakazu about to do something and manages to speed his way between him and Gai, and grab the baby before Kakazu could. (Probably cut off his hand for good measure), demanding what he's doing here.
After a very brief verbal smack down, Kakashi realizes that with all the gods busy partying, there will be no back up. He also knows that with a baby Gai in his arms, he can't go ham on the electric attacks like he usually does. He can't also josel him too much due to being a baby. His best bet is to get in the sky, away from the mortals. And then use long distance attacks on Kakazu.
Kakazu also realizes this and knows he has to end the fight quickly and quietly, he has to keep Kakashi low to the ground so he can't get help. Also with Gai in Kakashi's arms, he knows a majority of Kakashi's attacks amd agility are suddenly off limit. He also won't be as mobile as usual so he has to keep the fight close and to use his wires/ extra heart beasts, to surround Kakashi and to keep him from escaping to the sky.
(And if Kakazu accidentally kills the infant, it would suck for his plans. But he knows it would devastate Kakashi. And seeing that pain on spread on Kakashi's face would make this whole trip worth it.)
Whatever the case, Kakashi is PISSED. But he is more than lightning. He wraps Gai up in an outer layer of his Yukata to keep him safe/ bundled up close, and uses a sword/ water and rain to manuver around Kakazu. Eventually he finds an opening and uses the wind to get to the sky, where he can summon his lightning blasts. But Kakazu is after him. At one point Kakazu hits Kakashi through a storm cloud and the bundle that looks like Gai is dropped. And Kakazu ends up grabbing it. Thinking he's won-
Only, Kakashi used cloud cover and lighting attacks to summoned his dogs to the fight. He swapped Gai for Pakkun, and gave the real baby Gai to Bull to take down to SOMEONE safe. And now he has both arms free- and with Gai so far away, and out of the sky, he can FINALLY go all out with his most powerful techniques.
Kakazu ends up getting bitten/ shocked by Pakkun, and the dogs join the fray attacking his heart beasts. But he's fought Kakashi before and he also is pissed. And sends out his wires/ hearts all at Kakashi. When Kakashi hits him with lightning, Kakazu ends up impaling Kakashi near the same time as Kakashi and his dogs destory the last of his hearts. By this time, the rest of the gods realized all the racket, but they were too late to stop it.
They're just in time to see the two gods kill each other with their most powerful blows, and Kakashi ends up turning into a bolt of lightning himself, lighting up the sky and crashing into the earth, where his soul enters the closest vessel. Kakazu ends up probably breaking into pieces as well and being blown by the wind half way around the world, before entering his own human vessel.
And that's how I see the two killing each other.
Bull ended up delivering Gai to his grandmother/ grandfather, before he tried to turn around and join the fight again. Only by the time he got there, Kakashi and Kakazu were about to kill each other on their attacks. The dogs are heart broken and lightning ended up flashing around on a global scale, before it and all the rain, just suddenly ended.
So was I right about any of that (and are you okay with me sending these long battle inspired asks?)
So a few things i would change are just tiny.
Kakuzu has to make his hit on Kakashi when he’s distracted/unable to really fight back fully. So Kakashi is fighting already knowing he’s going to die because Kakuzu got a hit in while he was still holding Gai.
I say this because based off canon skill wise, Kakuzu does not match up to Kakashi. Now obv this isn’t cannon but i like to be respectful and the biggest challenge of Kakuzu isn’t his skill it’s his endless lives
And Kakuzu has that
Even woth his hands full with Gai Kakashi managed to destroy one of those lives he stole from mortals loyal to him, or perhaps a smaller god or mythical creature (oerhaps he thinks Dragon gai could even give him another life)
Kakashi (just like in Canon) isn’t killing one Kakuzu. He’s killing five. Those beasts are still Kakuzu’s hearts and Kakashi has to destroy all of them to win.
In the process, Kakauzu hits Kakashi with a fatal blow. He thinks he has won
But Kakashi’s determined. He refuses to fall until he knows Gai is safe, so even though he is very obviously dying (and the hounds can see that) he is fighting.
He destroys a second heart with the help of the hounds (sort of like how his work with shikamaru’s plan took out Kakuzu’s second heart in canon). The third and fourth hearts are actually destroyed in a huge release of electrical power that cone from Kakashi and all the hounds. The fact Kakuzu, with his final heart, managed to escape that attack is a damn mirical
But he doesn’t get away
As he thinks he has won and Kakashi is finally just going to die, Kakashi shows up behind him and charges all of the lightning he has left into one final, much smaller attack aimed directly at Kakuzu’s final heart
Kakashi and Kakuzu both die staring each other down. Likr you said Kakashi falls to the earth as a bolt of lightning before going to his new body (which is the miracle child of his mortal parents and they genuinly think he’s actually a gift from the god of storms)
Kakuzu would have ended up in the same village, since a child nearby would be available, but when the other gods see him starting to crumble away Temari picks up the winds and sends him flying to another village
A sort of punishment for what he did, but also a chance for the two gods to be separate for the first time ever.
Since you also believe that Team Ro cared much about each other, what are your thoughts on an AU where Itachi, after Shisui's death and between the time Danzō brought up the massacre thing but before Itachi does do it, he instead found himself in desperate need of an advice and did the only thing he could think of: go to his Taichō hoping to find any sort of help from one of the very few people he could trust
OH MY GOSH SO MANY CHOICES
CN: mentions of suicidal thoughts & genocide
I wanna say that Kakashi quietly goes and assassinates Danzo & the other anti-Uchiha elders in the middle of the night. But that would have consequences. If he does it anonymously, he risks Danzo being martyred and the Uchiha scapegoated and punished.
So he leaves his own lightning chakra everywhere.
He then confronts the Uchiha with Danzo's head to show both that he's a friend, and that he's serious, and tells them that if they do try and overthrow the village and instate Uchiha-rule, they will be executed. He'll help, in fact, because one clan imposing rule over all the others ain't great. But now there are three council spots opening up, and he's just made himself Konoha's public enemy number one.
He holds out his wrists to Itachi, still holding Danzo's bloody head up by the hair. "If you take me in," he says, toneless, almost bored, "it'll put your clan in better stead."
Itachi feels a bit sick. Danzo won't be the only one headless by the end of today, and Taicho must know that, he must, but he did this anyway.
It shouldn't be a surprise. He's always been a risk-taker, throwing himself into the line of every kunai like he can't bear to commit seppuku but lives only in the hope someone else will do it for him.
Somehow, that motivation would be almost as hard to accept as if Taicho just did this out of some misplaced sense of kindness.
Itachi's hands tighten into fists. "I had a mission," he whispers, voice shaking far more than he would like. I never asked you to interfere. I never wanted you to take the fall for me. I'm not a child, I don't need to be saved -
But a part of him lets itself relax, in a way he hasn't since he was first informed of his family's coup. Deep down, he knows that he is a child. And he did need to be saved.
He just wishes this wasn't the price.
Kakashi-Taicho presses his wrists forward a little more determinedly, one brow raised. "And now you have another," he says.
Itachi ties his hands together, using special ANBU finger-locks so he can't make seals. He takes him in, as he's supposed to. As Captain wants him to. As his family needs him to.
But if the ropes are tied a little looser than they should be, and Itachi staggers into the ANBU compound a half-hour later, head bleeding from a (self-inflicted) kunai scrape, mumbling sometihng about the traitor having escaped... Well, that's no one's business but theirs.
#
OR.
Or.
Another alternative concept for you...
Kakashi offers to do the job instead of Itachi, so Itachi doesn't have to live with the burden of that guilt.
Honestly... I'm not 100% sure he'd spare Sasuke, unless Itachi specifically asked him to.
Itachi still has to go into hiding as the massacre gets pinned on him, but Kakashi accompanies him into life as a nukenin out of some weird messed-up sense of loyalty and responsibility towards his teammate. Maybe they'd both infiltrate Akatsuki together... All while Itachi is growing up and dealing with some very complicated emotions about how Kakashi murdered his entire family... for him?
(And Kakashi is having some very confused emotions about the orange-masked idiot who keeps staring at him for uncomfortably long periods, but that's another story).
There are a lot of directions that this idea could go, and all of them would be really fascinating to explore!
