The neat thing about being a Will Wood fan is that you find this decently sized community of people who like this guy and you're like "wow look at all these people I can talk to!" But it definitely isn't that BIG of a community
But after a while you realize that they're everywhere, the best example I can give is that I'm in quite a few different discord servers, for quite a few different things, and I can't name one active server that doesn't have at least one or two Will Wood fans™ and its not like it's always the same people
Idk I just find it really Interesting and cool

Tangentially related to some of the discussion i posted earlier but quiet literally the first RW Art Month i participated I did it completely on whim like, one day before it started. And I mostly did it because I hadn't drawn a ton of rain world and wanted to draw more. Fandom presence was a lot smaller than and I was one of a handful of artists who did the entire thing. Fast forward and I still do Art Month and I've gotten to work with VC directly.
But it was quite literally something I decided to do completely on whim that set the ball rolling, and for something a lil more niche and certainly with a lot more dev/fandom art involvement than most. It's really random how and why you might get noticed more than usual, especially with the "toss it into the search and hope it pays out' mechanism of Socmed

//ooc hi it's me the anon who just sent in the most targeted monologue I could think of. the "do you ever think about" one. you have been giving me Davesprite Thoughts for several weeks so I shoved it in an ask. hope its devastating to him/pos!!
ps. I love this blog so much actually keep doin what ur doin!!!!
ooc
i love you so fucking much holy shit /p you get it. you fucking get it. dsprite feeling like he was responsible at least in part for all of his friends dying, and literally sacrificing himself, his identity and his *humanity* to save them, only for them to just. overlook him in favour of the 'real' him. the one that didnt fuck everything up for them. does he feel like he deserves it? does he think that its some form of karma for the way he let them all down and let them die (or in roses - his *sisters* case - literally killing them?) fuck, would he even *tell* them what happened in his old timeline? or would he just make vague allusions and stupid jokes because maybe if he doesnt tell them, he can have a second chance with them (a second chance that he doesnt really deserve after lying to them). maybe he can eventually win them back. sure, hes never going to be the 'real dave' again, not while the other dave is around, but maybe he can be more than just the spare dead bird dave that should have stayed dead
or maybe he shouldnt even try and should just save himself the pain of when it inevitably fails. they deserve better than just the weird bargain bin dave, right?
idk ill never stop thinking about this orange motherfucker and im glad i managed to infect someone else with the Davesprite Thoughts

this is why i just cant accept white lesbians who say kill all men in general. butch please, it's not subversive when you DO actively benefit from and participate in the dehumanization, subjugation, and slaughter of black and brown men. intersectional feminism doesn't just mean ~women and femmes~, it includes racial justice on all levels, for ALL racialized people.

Thinking about Berserk again. I havent read any of the new chapters because Miura's death kind of got to me really bad so thinking about or talking about berserk at all just made me really depressed and I think I probably havent even looked at it since he passed (after I used to reread huge chunks of it like every week) but now its been like two years and Im thinking I should just accept it and give the new stuff a shot.
One thing I am always thinking about though is how Miura's death effected discussion around Berserk and how much it will continue to effect discussion. Like, I always felt Berserk never got enough criticism. You can search Berserk on here and find all my old posts complaining about how everybody was jumping the gun on calling it One Of The Greatest Manga Ever when it wasnt even done and at the time most people were convinced it hadnt been good since like what, conviction arc? And that was back before Kentaro Miura died and his death has only made the discussion even more like "Berserk is a beautiful wonderful masterpiece and anyone with problems doesnt GET IT".
So like I stopped reading under the idea that no matter what happened it wasnt gonna be what REALLY shouldve happened, now I think thats kind of unfair and maybe I should give it a shot, but I think that idea is gonna be influencing how people talk about a manga that was already being given alot of undue praise and adoration from people who seemed to mostly never have actually read it and had nothing more interesting to say about it beyond it being the manga that popularized the idea of a guy with a big big sword. I dunno.
