I just know Raine’s palisman has such a nerdy, dumb name. If Raine is naming their first rebellion the BATs, and their second one the CATs, both of which are heavily themed, you bet your ass this silly little fox has the stupidest pun for a name.
I bet they named it Trot. Short for Foxtrot. I’m melting this into my canon and it can be pried out of my cold, dead hands.

HAPPY 1 YEAR FOR TOH FINALE!!!!!!! (how have i only draw titan luz one other time 😭) as most of you can probably assume this show meant so much to me, and it also gave me so much to look forward to- i've met so many amazing people because of my own art as well as the work others have shared on here <3 Huge thanks to Dana Terrace for everything she's done, and for creating these characters in the first place.
beside what they've done for me personally, drawing these characters so many times has also helped me improve significantly, so slide 2 is a redraw of the first time i ever draw lumity, and the others are just color sketches i had fun with last week.
ALSO I WANTED TO INCLUDE OWLBERT WAFFLES AND FLAPJACK BUT I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO DRAW BIRDS FOR THE LIFE OF ME ES
as always, i hope yall are doing great, make sure to go eat smth, and drink some water 💜💜

Tag Team AU Synopsis – Agony of a Witch + Young Blood Old Souls
Synopsis Masterpost Link
Previous Part [Enchanting Grom Fright + Wing it Like Witches]
Next Part [Intermission: Yesterday's Lie]
Season finale, fellas. Season 1 was basically a build up to this moment and to the rest of season 2. I'm just really proud of this one.
Agony of a Witch
Lilith tries getting into the Owl House like canon, and fails pretty miserably like canon. BUT, in the aftermath when the dust has settled, Hunter flies in on Flapjack, enters the Owl House, and is seen by Lilith (who knows his face). Lilith connects the dots, and knows what she has to do in order to capture Eda.
Meanwhile, Hunter is getting ideas about officially leaving the Emperor’s Coven.
Tumblr media
He makes a plan to head back to the castle one last time, grabbing Luz, and getting the hell out of dodge. Also, Eda Magic Spaghetti setup for the witch’s wool cloak.
CUT TO THE EMPEROR’S CASTLE!!! Luz is leading the tour group! She sees Amity and it’s cute, she’s excited. Amity is So Guilty but also blushing.
At some point, Lilith comes in. Luz takes Kikimora’s place in canon by pointing her out, but she’s a lot nicer about it.
Tumblr media
Amity breaks off from the group at this point, and follows Lilith to the throne room. She sees Belos eat the palisman like Luz does in canon, and has a similar reaction. She runs back to the group.
Lilith reports to Belos.
Tumblr media
Cut to Hunter! Who changes into his GG uniform and is entering the castle.
Tumblr media
So, fight time. Hunter is very outnumbered, but he manages to take down most of the scouts.
Tumblr media
And then we cut back to Luz, who is waving away the students. Amity stays back to talk to her, when they’re interrupted by Kikimora.
Tumblr media
(Kiki’s line is a direct mirror to her summoning Luz in the comic, if u remember)
Cut to Luz walking onto the balcony. Belos is there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(There's some HELLA subtext going with Belos projecting onto Luz here, if that isn't clear. This version of Belos is more trusting with her because he's seen the parallels between them. This isn't just manipulation – he legitimately pities her and what she's going through)
Back to the fight! Hunter gets out of the bubble with Flapjack’s help.
Tumblr media
They have a little staff battle, but it ends with Lilith grabbing his staff and Hunter being thrown off the bridge.
Eda tries to save him, but it goes about as well as you’d expect.
Tumblr media
Owlbert catches Hunter.
Tumblr media
Hunter goes back to the Owl House, and finds out that Eda was going to give him the cloak.
Young Blood, Old Souls
For reference, this takes place a day or so after the last episode, like canon.
We open in the Throne room with Eda in owl beast mode. She is made lucid by Belos, the same as canon.
Tumblr media
Cut to Hunter on top of one of the coven carriages and with a bandana over his mouth (also new witch’s wool cloak). It rolls into the conformatorium while coven scouts are milling around. When it goes into the cell area, he drops down and starts kicking ass. Infiltration time.
Cut to Eda! She’s in her chains when the door to her cell opens, and Luz is there, face covered in shadow. Eda jokingly asks if there’s a way Luz could get Eda out of there, when Luz comes into the light, maskless, and cries. She tells her she can’t get her out, and that she’s sorry she put her in this position. If she didn’t make the deal with her, she wouldn’t be caught.
Eda doesn’t care about that, though. What she does care about is that she’s looking at Camila’s lost daughter. She takes out the portal key and gives it to Luz, saying that if she’s going to bite the dust, she can’t think of anyone who deserves it more than a human.
The cage goes up around Eda, and she is brought up to the Petrification Ceremony. Luz presses the button on the key, and the portal is summoned. She looks up where Eda disappeared, and goes through the portal, leaving an empty room.
Lilith walks in a second later.
Tumblr media
Lilith brings Hunter to the elevator platform, when they’re ambushed by Belos.
Tumblr media
Belos tells him the whole deal: He tells Hunter that he would typically kill the grimwalkers who overstep this far, but his priorities have changed. Mainly, to Luz. He just wants to keep her safe, and Hunter has been doing such a good job of that already – not to mention Luz might be upset if Hunter is killed. He can overlook the slights of the past few months if Hunter goes back to the way things were. They can go back to being a family again.
Hunter shoots back with what he has learned from being at the Owl House – that Belos has been faking his “outbursts” and could control them this whole time, that their “family” is incredibly unsafe. Remix of the “You know what I’d like, Belos?” sequence in Thanks to Them. Basically, he tells Belos that he wants nothing to do with him, and he’s taking Luz and leaving.
Belos is disappointed, but not surprised. He goes to attack and finish Hunter off, but Hunter manages to dodge it using Flapjack, releases all the glyphs he has to distract Belos, and flies up.
He gets up to the Petrification Platform, and he uses glyphs to destroy the statue and get Eda and Lilith out. They fly away to the Owl House. When they land, Hooty and King rush out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s the end of season 1!

I feel like I remember you mentioning Luz inheriting Owlbert as her palisman instead of Stringbean a while back (I've checked but nothing comes up, so idk if I'm just imagining this or tumblr is just being tumblr lol) and if you did, how would that work exactly? I'm very intrigued by it, but I wonder how it would play into the story, especially if Eda stays alive. I'm curious to hear your thoughts!
(Sorry if you haven't haha, I just remember reading somthing about it and I'm 70% sure it was you but..)
This is kind of both where I've mentioned it, so Tumblr should be able to bring it up, but I've never talked in depth about it I think. Let's fix that here.
So I still believe this take. The core premise is that it is a passing on of who Eda once was to someone who can now hold her rebellious torch. For Luz it is true acceptance of her being Eda's apprentice and her daughter, a family heirloom effectively passed on. Also, Owlbert would have been carved while Eda was still at her most rebellious and probably has missed the side of Eda that could do a lot of that but the curse tamped down and now Momma Eda just can't act on as much. Not like Luz. Owlbert is also more family for them than Stringbean literally had time to be. All of this is thematically WAY stronger than almost anything to do with Stringbean, leaning into new homes, found family and the mentor/student side of the show. I've DEFINITELY talked about why Stringbean doesn't work though, as cute as they are.
All of this would also have paid off the Owlbert episode in S1 or felt like it was happening already with how Luz kept borrowing Owlbert in early S2. She was growing a bond with the palisman and Owlbert is even why she's able to trick Belos during the S1 finale because otherwise she wouldn't have been able to activate the glyphs remotely.
This is also without getting into the fact that once Eda has Harpy Mode... She just doesn't need Owlbert. She can fly, she uses glyphs, it's potentially dangerous for her to use her old friend who might still want to spread their wings, etc. like that. The palisman is no longer required, kind of like how we don't see Lilith's palisman in the finale because she has her own wings now. I am happy they have their wings but... Are their palisman just being left at home, without their companions?
That starts getting kind of close to why the Bat Queen didn't trust Luz in S1. And hey, it would have been a GREAT way to end Hunting Palisman. Rather than a brick of wood that was going to take a REALLY smart hand to make eventually work without either feeling awkward in execution or feeling pointless because whatever Luz said was going to end up feeling like something she could have said here, both of which are Stringbean frankly, it's that Owlbert comforts her. Eda sees this, smiles, frowns then shuts her eyes. When they open back up, it's to Luz and Owlbert, now in first person perspective from Eda's eyes, looking up at her and asking if she's okay. She wipes her tears, knowing what's right for her friend and her daughter and tells Luz that until she figures out what she wants, what fits her, she can use Owlbert. He has been getting a little chubby sitting around The Owl House after all and she's more likely to keep him from getting into mischief. Owlbert hoots in indignation while Luz puffs out her chest and goes "And what if I want to get into Mischief?" and Eda just smiles before saying that then they BOTH can keep each other out of trouble.
It's a genuine Mentor/Student moment that also has SO many shades of when someone hands down the old car that's been around for so long and meant so much to the older generation. Now it can be useful and ride anew with the sons and daughters who originally ran those tires into the ground. How it can cause mischief all anew while the old generations also knows how reliable it can be.
It even fits with what Luz's statement is eventually. "I want to be understood." Why not the family who took her in and showed so much understanding? Hunting Palisman is one of the genuinely good moments for Luz, Eda and King, brief as it is, in part because it is showing so much understanding of Luz. That she would appreciate the gesture, needs time, needs opportunity and doesn't need pressure. But that understanding never really goes anywhere. Eda never passes anything on to Luz. She barely ever teaches her anything, even when that was ostensibly what the show was about. This could have at least been a gesture bringing the elements closer together, rather than keeping them apart.
Instead, even when the family is all together to fight Belos, Owlbert just... Isn't there. He's gone from the finale until the endings start. Someone who always protected Luz, helped her, even back in the first episode when Eda tries to send Luz away with Owlbert and he's just... gone. Left by the wayside like so many elements that seemed to matter at one point.
Left to rot like so many abandoned palisman. That doesn't feel like how things should have gone. Not when there was so much to be gotten out of keeping him around.

Hunter getting amnesia from the fall in hunting Palismen in the eventually AU and Luz decides she’s just going to tell him they just met and they’re saving the Palismen.
Jasper coming to Eda’s place with a sprained ankle and Hunter is just sitting there on the couch and asking him if they know each other. And Jasper has both the best and worst chance of his life to get to know his son but also Hunter doesn’t know who he is anymore.
Au of an au of an au of an au
Lmaoooo for real though. Eda would be like hey loser! Did you know your arch nemesis is a teenager? Lmaoooo Marty you got your ass kicked by a kid. And jasper is like what the fuck. Why is hunter here. And Luz is like wait is that his name. Because when he fell he hadn't told her his name yet! And hunter is like oh! Yeah, that's it. Hunter IS my name. And Eda is like wow okay maybe you did know he was a teenager. That's kind of weird dude. And jasper just like ???? What's wrong with him. What did you do to him. Why is he so calm. Luz is very helpfully like oh he hit his head and doesn't remember who he is :] and jasper is like WHAT. how do we fix him. We have to fix him. And Eda is like haven't you been trying to convince him to leave the EC for like three years. Why would you want him to remember all the reasons he wouldn't leave. And jasper just like because they're his fucking memories??? Are you insane??? Owlbert come the fuck over here I have to fix his brain
Hunter is just sort of like okay, sure, this might as well happen. This is literally no weirder than anything else that has happened so far. Hawk Hunter is trying to catch Owlbert, eda is arguing with jasper about the merits of a little brain damage, Luz is trying to convince him that this is all part of his character arc. And hunter is just sitting there like "I'm kind of hungry. This is all weird." He looks over at the window and flapjack is there worried about this weird sad kid and he's like ooh a bird

Lumity and B!Lumity fluff
Warning, there is implied smut. Not actual, just implied through jokes. Also it's only with Betas cuz they're 18. Anyways I lowkey kind miss doing writing prompts.
Luz: Amityyyyyyy
Luz is standing outside Amity's balcony with a bouquet of flowers for her awesome girlfriend.
Luz: I'm ready for our daaaate!
Suddenly the door swung open and a taller figure came out. It was Amelia, Amity's oldest sister.
Luz: Oh, hi Amelia
Amelia: Hello Luz
While Amelia is definitely intimidating given that she's taller, older, and has an attitude, she still has a sweet spot for Luz given her circumstances and how happy she makes Amity.
Luz: I'm here to take Amity out on a date
Amelia: She's inside getting ready
Luz: Ok, I'll wait
There's silence for a brief moment until Luz starts up again.
Luz: How are Ed and Em?
Amelia rolls her eyes.
Amelia: As annoying as ever.
Luz lets out a nervous laugh: Hehe....siblings
Then, she looks at the flowers she got Amity.
Amelia sighs: How's your sister?
Luz looks up: Lucia?
Amelia, sarcastically: What, you got another sister I don't know about?
Luz: N-No, I-I um....she's good. She's just at home....doing stuff
Amelia: Doing what?
Amelia wants to know but is hoping that she doesn't sound too interested.
Luz: I don't know. Watching oracle or something?
Amelia: Hmm....ok
There's a moment of silence again until Amity comes out of the room to the balcony.
Amity: Hey batata
Luz can't help but stare at how beautiful her girlfriend looks.
Luz: Whoa
Amity blushes: You like it? Amelia helped me pick it out
Luz: You look amazing amor
Luz quickly goes up to Amity and gives her a hug. When they seperate, Amity notices the bouquet in Luz's hand.
Amity: Ooo, are those for me?
Luz sheepishly laughs: Yeah, I picked them out myself.
Amity: They're beautiful love
Suddenly, Amelia clears her thoat loudly to imply she's still around.
Amity gets annoyed and tolls her eyes.
Amity : Really? You don't have to be here
Amelia, sly: I don't have to cover for you. I can always tell mom about your batata
Amity growls but Luz holds her hand to calm her down.
Luz: C'mon amor. Let's just get on with our date.
Amity: Yeah, ok
Luz summons Owlbert and they both get on and fly away. Amelia scoffs as she's a little irritated that her little sister would talk to her that way. Especially since she's covering her and could easily get her into trouble with their mother if she wanted to. Although there is a part of her that's is proud of her for sticking up for herself. She won't deny that it is definitely something Amity needs to work on. In the meantime while they're gone, she's gonna have a bit of fun. She summons her staff and flies to the owl house.
Lucia is on the couch sleeping her ass off. The previous night left her drained from having to complete a bounty just so she can get Luz enough money to atleast afford a nice restaurant to take Amity. Lucia usually doesn't care about Luz and Amity's relationship, but she does care about Luz. That was enough to help out Luz to get some snails. After that, she immediately went to bed and knocked out.
Amelia arrived to the house and was immediately greeted by the bird tube.
Hooty: Hello!
Amelia: Titan! Don't scare me like that!
Hooty retreat back to the door
Hooty: But that's my job! Anyways, Lucia is inside and sleeping! Thou shall not- ow!
Amelia kicked the door open to force herself in, then shut it. She can here Hooty on the other side complaining.
Amelia: Titan he's annoying
Lucia is suddenly awake with a line of saliva on her cheek.
Amelia: Hey
Lucia looks around and lets her eyes adjust before landing them on Amelia.
Lucia: Oh hey. What brings you here?
She does a quick stretch.
Amelia: I got bored
Lucia: Oh, sucks
Lucia lays back down. Amelia grabs one of the pillows and hits her with it.
Lucia: Hey!
Amelia: Asshole
Lucia sits up: Profanity
Amelia: Shut up. You spit shit all the time. And it's not like your sister is here.
Lucia: Ok ok. Chill girl
Lucia rubs her face.
Lucia: What do you want?
Amelia: I just wanna do something
Lucia: ....well it better not be me cuz I'm tired as fuck
Amelia hits her again
Amelia: I DIDN'T MEAN THAT STUPID!
Lucia couldn't help but laugh.
Amelia: You're such a child
Lucia: If I'm a child, then you're a pedo-
Amelia hits her again, this time repeatedly.
Lucia grabs the pillow and pulls it away.
Luz: Ya, I'll stop Ames
Amelia rolls her eyes: Whatever
Lucia grabs her waist and pulls her close.
Lucia: Don't whatever me baby
Amelia and Lucia have been dating for a while. They definitely dated after Amity and Luz got together but had relations before then. Eventually they fell for eachother and Lucia took out Amelia for a date. Amelia made it clear if they dated it had to be kept a secret. She's afraid of her mom and ex knowing. She knows that Lucia's life would be on the line if they ever found out. Lucia claims that she's not afraid and could take them on, but Amelia wants to be safe. She can't stand the thought of losing someone that actually cares for her for who she is and not her popularity.
Amelia pushes Lucia away.
Amelia: Not here stupid
Lucia lets go and giggles. She loves seeing Amelia get nervous and mad. It's really cute to her. Almost reminds her of a mad cat.
Lucia: Ok. You wanna go somewhere else?
Amelia: Yeah. Did you have something in mind?
Lucia: Not really. Like I said, I'm tired.
Amelia: We can go to your room and.....I don't know, cuddle.
Lucia: ....yeah sure. Lets go
They get up and go to the upstairs room. Lucia gets the sleeping bag comfy for them. Amelia is aware of the situation Lucia and Luz are in. There are times where she wishes she could just give them a bed since it's not much to her, but Lucia is stubborn and always wants to earn everything. She managed to get one for Luz so at least she doesn't have to suffer due to Lucia's ideals. Lucia lays on the bag and Amelia lays on top of her. Lucia holds her and kisses her head. Amelia has her head on Lucia's chest. She likes hearing Lucia's heart beat. It's very calming to her for some reason.
Lucia: Did you wanna do something later?
Amelia: Maybe, if you're ok with it.
Lucia: Yeah baby, I don't mind. I just wanna rest a bit first
Amelia looks up at her
Amelia: Ok babe
Lucia pecks her lips and rubs her waist. Amelia couldn't be happier that she's with Lucia. She wants them to be public just so they can at least hold hands all the time, but she can't risk anything. She needs Lucia and Luz to be safe, no matter what.

Valentine's Day One Shot
(featuring an oc by @erraticeris) Dr. Two Brains was surprised by the knock on the door. "Huh. I wonder who could that be." The mad scientist spoke to himself. He wasn't expecting any villains coming by to see him today nor any packages. Two Brains was also sure Becky's friends were busy right now as well, so it couldn't have been them coming by. Dr. Two Brains decided to open the door where he was met with a horrific sight. "Hello sir is Becky home?" A boy around Becky's age asked. Two Brains did not respond. His body was frozen in place as his red/pink eyes became wide and transfixed on the boy's appearance. The young male looked confused and worried at the villain's frozen expression. "Um sir?" The young boy asked again. Trying to get the villains's attention and snap him out of his petrified state. Dr. Two Brains did soon snap out of his frozen state when the boy tried to touch him in order to hopefully spark a reaction. He did not expect the villain's reaction. "OWL!" Dr. Two Brains screamed in fear before racing away from the door to hide behind a couch. The boy was startled and alarmed by Dr. Two Brains fearful reaction. Soon Becky raced downstairs in a panic to see what her father was screaming about. "Dad what is going on?" Becky exclaimed with worry and alertness. Two Brains poked his head behind the couch and shakily pointed a hand towards the boy who was still standing in the doorway. "T..there is an owl k..kid right over there!" Dr. Two Brains exclaimed in a frightened tone. Becky looked to see where her dad was pointing. Her body relaxed as her expression became calm and slightly annoyed. "Dad that is just Owlbert. I told you about him before. His family moved here a while back and we met at school." Becky explained. The boy, Owlbert, just gave an awkward wave. "Well you didn't tell me the kid was part owl!" Dr. Two Brains exclaimed in an exasperated tone. Though he still did not move from his spot behind the couch. His mouse brain continuing to glow in a frightened, erratic, tone. Becky folded her arms. "Well his name is Owlbert. Violet and I talked about him openly before." Becky spoke in a frustrated tone. Dr. Two Brains crossed his arms and let out a huff. "Well just because his name is owl related doesn't automatically mean he is connected with owls." Dr. Two Brains tried defending himself. He wouldn't admit he didn't hear his daughter's conversations with Violet about this kid. Becky just sighed and rolled her eyes, not ready to deal with her dad's antics today. Owlbert gave a little cough to direct attention back to him. "Well sir, my family and I are all part owl. But we don't eat mice. Some members keep them as pets like any other person would." Owlbert explained as he hoped this would ease any fears and tensions Dr. Two Brains had about him. Dr. Two Brains just stared at the kid with a cautious and guarded expression. "Dad Owlbert's a nice person. Please go easy on him." Becky pleaded. Dr. Two Brains relented, the kid freaked him out, but he trusted his daughter's judgement. "Okay alright. Hi Owlbert what are you doing here?" Dr. Two Brains rudely grunted. "Oh I am here to pick up Becky and take her to the park. There is an area where literary authors are retelling the works of William Shakespeare in public." Owlbert explained in a slightly nervous tone. Becky's eyes lit up. "That sounds amazing. I'm ready to go right now if that is alright." Becky spoke. She hoped they would retell the story of Romeo and Juliet, her favorite play, at the event as well. Owlbert gave an elated nod. "Yep. I'm ready when you are." He exclaimed. Becky jumped up in the air. "Great. Bye dad. I'll be at the park." Becky stated as she raced towards Owlbert and ready to head out. Two Brains gave a wave. "Okay just be back before dark." The scientist called out. "We'll do." Becky replied and the duo soon left to head to the park. Dr. Two Brains let out a sigh and a soft smile. He was happy his daughter was making new friends, even if that person was an owl.

re: raine and hunter bonding over their belos-flavoured trauma, how do you think they discuss palismen?
this is brought by the reveal that raine's violas, like the head of it, is their palisman. but that viola has been smashed open TWICE. we know from owlbert that having a staff cracked hurts, so having what is essentially 90% of your body ripped open has gotta hurt. (hypothetically it might not work the same way but shhh)
palisman are an extension of the self, so to me its a representation of how raine has worked themself to the bone for this revolution, literally becoming a tool of progress. parallel this with hunter and flapjack, as the latter allows the former to be something more than a tool of the empire, a real boy with hopes and dreams.
both of their palismen were hurt by belos, in different ways.
im thinking that if the fox didn't have a staff pre-belos, it was among the first things hunter made when he got his carving technique down. something something moving on something something if not for flapjack at least for someone else.
does this make sense? i am but a seething pot of Themes and Connections
OUGH GOD YOU'RE SO FUCKING RIGHT ABOUT ALL OF THIS. I'M TRYING TO THINK OF SOMETHING USEFUL TO ADD BUT THIS IS ALL SO GOOD I WANT EVERYONE TO SEE IT IMMEDIATELY
i'm really liking the idea of raine's palisman getting to spend some time running around doing silly fox antics and getting into low-stakes trouble once belos is gone bc they've been in disguise for so long that getting to be silly is a Relief. in parallel to raine getting to breathe and relax for the first time in Ages after making sacrifice after sacrifice after sacrifice and being tortured for fuck only knows how long.
also very fond of the mental image of raine's fox often scampering off to be a nuisance to hunter specifically. probably others too like eda and luz and darius and the CATS but hunter more consistently than the others. and the concept that the fox has been left without a staff after damage to the viola is making me crazy
because i IMAGINE that raine's fox keeps gravitating toward hunter out of concern and recognition of his grief, the same way the other palismen do. and i imagine that hunter ranges from irritable to grudgingly accepting of this, because it's very difficult to resist a cute creature who keeps winding around your legs and/or neck like an obnoxious cat. and then upon realizing there's no staff, hunter's entire annoyed demeanor vanishes Immediately, like:
hunter: ...you're hurt??
the fox: ...UH OH. WE AREN'T SUPPOSED TO SHOW EMOTIONAL VULNERABILITY. I GOTTA GO RUN BACK TO RAINE RIGHT NOW IMMEDIATELY
hunter: WHAT. YOU GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE-
and then hunter chases them all the way back to raine, whereupon the convo is just like
hunter: WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ANYONE YOUR PALISMAN IS HURT?????
raine: NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS
hunter: ARE YOU FOR REAL RIGHT NOW. ARE YOU SERIOUS.
raine: OKAY LOOK I. FORGOT TELLING PEOPLE WAS AN OPTION. WE'VE BEEN MANAGING FINE FOR A WHILE. MY HEART STILL SEIZES UP WHEN THEY CLIMB ON MY HEAD WHILE I'M OUT IN PUBLIC WE'RE MANAGING
hunter, clearly having an epiphany: okay but. you guys shouldn't be dealing with stuff alone. there are people who'd want to know
raine, clearly Deeply pained about being called out: i wish this was not so obviously something you need to hear yourself so i could argue with a child instead. ok. perhaps you are right.
hunter: yeah. i am 🥰
and then yeah hunter carves a new staff when he's confident enough. i think it would take a while bc he'd be nervous about screwing it up but raine and their palisman are both incredibly patient so that's fine
incredible content thank you.

So random thought but hypothetically, how do you think things would have gone in your half siblings au if Eda has found the Nocedas earlier, before Manny passed away?
Ooooohhhh that's a really interesting hypothetical.
In this scenario, I'm going to say that Eda found them within the first month or two of the Nocedas moving to Gravesfield, when Luz is about 10. Eda bumps into them or hears someone call out their names, idk, but Manny and Camila get on her radar.
She spies on them a bit, and definitely breaks into their house just to make sure that yes, these are her kids other parents Luz's real parents. Eda briefly considers just, like, kidnapping them in the middle of the night and banking on the whole 'heres your long-lost kid!' thing to override the whole 'crazy witch criminal just burst in out bedroom window and kidnapped us' thing, before ultimately settling on trying to befriend them as 'Marilyn' (Owlberts idea).
Eda doesn't tell Luz at first, initially bc she doesn't want to get her hopes up before she confirms that these are the right people, and for a little bit after that its bc of her own insecurities about feeling like Luz isn't gonna need her or even want her around once she gets her 'real' parents back. This is at least a year after Luz gave her that bracelet as a Parents Day gift, which was the point when Luz realized that Eda was just as much her parent as Manny and Camila, but Eda, being Eda, didn't realize that that is what the bracelet meant.
'Marilyn' clumsily introduces herself to the Noceda's at the coffee shop, and actually hits it off a bit with Manny before the raccoon in her purse starts freaking out. Manny isn't doing great, but he isn't to the point where he's stuck in the hospital full time yet.
Manny and Camila come to the conclusion that 'Marilyn' is slightly unstable and lonely but ultimately harmless and possibly down-on-her-luck enough to be living out of her car. Until she slips up and mentions her kids, which then gets them a bit concerned, bc of the whole 'living in her car maybe' assumption.
'Marilyn' also goes on a whole ramble about how 'they aren't really her kids she's just taking care of them' and how 'they have real families to get back to' and she kinda accidentally spills way more than she wants to about her insecurities about raising King and Luz. Bc this whole thing? Getting to know and actually befriending Luz's 'real' parents? Has been messing with her head quite a bit.
Eda, once she realizes everything she just blurted out, thinks she just made herself look absolutely nuts and now she's gonna have to go back to the kidnapping plan. But, to her surprise, the Nocedas are sympathetic, if confused and even more concerned than before.
(They aren't entirely sure what 'Marilyns' situation is with her kids, but by the way she talked about them it was clear to them that 'Marilyn' absolutely adores her kids, insecurities aside)
But, Eda realizes that 'hey, even if we aren't exactly 'friends', mb I can get them to come meet the kids'. It takes her a whole week to psyche herself up to tell Luz that she finally found her 'real' parents, but after she's given Luz a heads up she finally asks Manny and Camila if they want to meet her kids.
When 'Marilyn' leads them to a rundown shack in the middle of the woods, the Noceda's think that they're 'homeless' theory was correct, and even worse than they thought (the shack looks much worse to live in than a car to them) only to have their whole world turned upside down when they step into the living room of a fully furnished and well-kept home...
...with Luz waiting to greet them.
The reunion goes similarly to how it goes in DoaF, but without the heartbreaking conversation about Manny. Bc of Manny needing his cancer treatment, they might not be able to stay for a whole week, but they do come up with a sort-of schedule like in DoaF where they can spend time with Luz.
This set-up leads to things being a lot less tense between Eda and the Noceda's than things are between Eda and Camila in DoaF. Manny and Camila were already sympathetic, even if they thought 'Marilyn' probably needed some kind of medication, but finding out that one of the kids she very clearly loves was their Luz, and seeing just how much Luz adores Eda does make them all sort of blending together an easier transition.
There is still some jealousy, on both sides, and a bit of conflict with Eda and Luz being wanted criminals despite Luz being 10, but things are still a bit smoother.
...and I think that Manny wouldn't die in this scenario.
The way I write healing magic is that it mostly just accelerates and amplifies the bodies natural healing. With healing magic (both in the form of healing potions made by Eda and going to Doc's clinic) working to boost his immune system and sort of heal the damage being done by the chemo therapy, it helps make his cancer treatments much more effective and he enters remission about 2 years after Eda found him and Camila.
And things kinda go on like that for a few years! Eda finishes that cloaking stone for Luz, and she's able to grow up in both realms, with both of her families. This also helps drag Eda out of her denial about being just as important to Luz as Manny and Camila are.
Eda expected to become like, barely more than a hotel to Luz once she found her 'real' parents, that Luz wouldn't need her for anything more than a place to sleep bc staying in the Human Realm full time isn't really an option with her being half-Titan.
But Luz, of course, does still want and need Eda in her life. She and Eda and King celebrate Human Realm holidays at Manny and Camila's home with them, and Manny and Camila spend any Boiling Isle holiday that the Owl's celebrate at the Owl House, they have Family Game Nights that alternate between Realms, they're all just a family.
It gets comfortable, and having Manny and Camila around actually makes the whole 'fugitives from the law' thing easier to deal with. Just getting groceries can be a risk, and having two people who can both bring in food from an entirely different dimension and go out into the Boiling Isle without having to constantly look over their shoulders for guards is a massive help.
And that's how things are for a few years!
Eda comes clean about the full extent of her curse to Manny and Camila after a good long while, bc she knows she'd been living on borrowed time since she got cursed and up until finding Luz's other parents the thought of 'what will happen to my kids when I'm permanently stuck as the Owl Beast' had been weighing on her heavily.
But now, she has two people who have stable lives (albeit lives mostly in the Human Realm) who have earned her hard-won trust, and who love her kids just as much as she does. It's a relief, even if it is quite bittersweet.
I'm quite sure how having both Camila and Manny around would affect all the Belos stuff, if that would lead to any major changes to things other than Manny being there when the Hexsquad gets stuck in the Human Realm (which is already really different from cannon S3)
Oh!
Vee get's adopted earlier!
I've foreshadowed it in Doaf, but that lab under Adegast's castle was where Belos conducted the Basilisk experiments, and Vee and the other basilisks broke out three years before DoaF, and about a year after Eda found the Noceda's.
Vee only knew there was a portal to the Human Realm in the Owl Lady's stall bc she saw a Human with Eda (Luz in cannon, Camila in DoaF), and with two Humans hanging around Eda as soon as she's free, she might get to the Human Realm as soon as she's free from the lab.
Not entirely sure when/how she would wind up meeting one of the Noceda's, but lets just say she gets adopted within the first year of her being free, when she and Luz are around 11-12.
Vee only re-enters the Demon Realm for the holidays and family game nights in the Owl House for a while, but she does eventually get to the point where she's comfortable enough to like, hang out with Luz and her friends and things like that, but she always has the Human Realm and Manny and Camila's house as her Home.
I'm also not entirely sure how Vee being around would affect the big plot stuff, but with this set-up she will be there.
...I think that's everything up till the petrification ceremony kicking off the Plot heavy stuff.

Actions Have Conciquences
The Owl House is a story about growing up and the dichotomy between youthful imagination and the pragmatism that is ascribed to adulthood. It's a coming of age story.
But The Owl House is also a master of trope subversion, so how does it twist this story archetype? Well, Escape Of The Palisman serves as a fantastic benchmark for how the series will tackle this subject later on.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
The term Bildungsroman is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as the following:
A novel that has as its main theme the formative years or spiritual education of one person (a type of novel traditional in German literature).
Obviously, the Owl House isn't a novel, but this is definitely a story archetype that can cross between forms.
TKC Publishing claims that there are four stages to a bildungsroman, loss, journey, conflict and personal growth, and maturity. I will be using these stages as a framework for my analysis.
In essence, the Bildungsroman is a coming of age story, it delves into a part of a person's life in which they emotionally reach adulthood. And The Owl House fits this for Luz to a tea. But this episode also functions as a miniaturised version of the format, and it is this that I would like to dwell upon.
Tumblr media
First up, loss. This is what characterises the rest of the novel. The loss is the setback that the protagonist must overcome. Most stories use this as an inciting incident, and this isn't entirely correct, for reasons I will go into later.
In Escape Of The Palisman, the loss is the breaking of Owlbert. What is interesting here, is that it is directly caused by Luz's recklessness, setting up the lesson that will be learned in the episode. Actions have consequences.
Tumblr media
The journey is the bulk of the adventure. Physically or emotionally, it is the transformation into a better person, but it doesn't directly solve the problem, just prepares them to confront that part of themself.
In this episode, this is rather obvious, Luz has to do chores for the Bat Queen. These don't solve the problem with Owlbert, but they do go a long way to proving Luz's loyalty to him. Trials don't change a person, they test them.
This is all fairly basic writing, hence why I'm struggling to bring something new. A character causes a problem and wants to atone, but there are obstacles. It's basic, but competently done. This isn't unique to The Owl House.
Tumblr media
This is what makes the Owl House special. The Bat Queen's story is gut wrenching, specifically because of how well it fits with the theme of the episode and series as a whole, but also because of how it interacts with Luz's actions earlier in the episode.
Actions have consequences, if you are reckless, you will break things, or people. The Bat Queen in this story is the embodiment of loss and betrayal, but also with healing.
"I protect them all!"
The thing about scars, is that they never truly leave. They can fade, or be covered up, or sometimes even forgotten, but they are always there. The Bat Queen has healed from her betrayal, but that wound remains present, and it comes back in full force when she sees someone else going through the same thing.
Tumblr media
Finally, we get to the conflict and personal growth. As the difference between Luz and the Bat Queen's previous companion, and it's Luz's defining characteristic once again winning someone over. Luz is kind, to a fault. She encourages people and shines a light on their hidden attributes. She inspires people.
The shot above makes Owlbert look badass as hell. The glowing eyes and scar are cool, and blocking the blow is awesome. But the shot also goes out of its way to show how small Owlbert is, and that's the point here. That's how brave this little owl has been inspired to be.
Actions have conciquences is often said with a negative connotation. If you do something reckless, something bad will happen. And this episode certainly agrees with that premise. But the saying is a double-sided coin. Actions have conciquences. If you are kind enough, persistent enough, reckless enough, people will see that, and maybe, just maybe, they will pay you back.
Case and point, when Eda questions Luz on her actions, Owlbert stands up for her once again, wiping the slate clean. She has redeemed herself, dwelling on the mistake is fruitless, in Owlbert's eyes.
Maturity has been reached, at least in comparison to the episode's opening.
Tumblr media
I mentioned that The Owl House twists this story archetype, and here is what I mean: Luz doesn't change that much. She has a journey, yes, and she overcomes problems, but fundamentally, she doesn't do change much. She wins because she is kind and inspiring, and she starts the story being those things. She ends the series being kind and inspiring.
Character arcs aren't arcs. I mean this in the sense of the visualisation. To picture a character on a graph is a flawed endeavour, because humans are complicated. For example, if you put Luz on a graph, she would end up at the same point at which she started. Luz's character development isn't linear, or quantifiable. She learns to grow up, and she learns to stay the same.
Tumblr media
I said earlier that there is a dichotomy between childhood and adulthood, and the point of the Owl House is: Why? Why are they separate? Being a child is about learning and imagining, and being an adult is about experience and wisdom. None of these things are mutually exclusive, and Luz's journey throughout the series is learning that. She bounces between the four points like a pinball, and it's fascinating to watch.
The last thing to point out is what is going on around Luz. If you were to analyse the Owl House from a top-down perspective, if no character is the main character, each person is given equal screen time. Then, Luz would be a support character. She would probably be the single point that everyone else rotates around. And that's what happens here. She encourages the Bat Queen to see witches differently, and she gets Owlbert to be brave.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
This is not my favourite episode. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination. I said earlier that it is a simple premise done competently, and I stand by that. The unfortunate thing there is that I do not find this episode as interesting as others. The Bat Queen revelation is the best part of the episode and possible one of the best parts of the season, but it's fleeting, and the prelude of chores makes it lose its oomph, if that makes sense.
This is just my opinion, if you enjoyed this, keep doing that. Difference of opinion is part of the fun of media analysis.
Next week I'll be looking at Sense and Insensitivity, an episode that I adore, but find absolutely terrifying. So, stick around if that interests you.

Owl House Theory: 2 ways a Human views Palismen
Ever since the 'Flapjack was Caleb's/Philip's brother's palisman' theories showed up, I wondered "why would a human, a creature without magic, need a palisman? How could they even use it?"
Because of this question, this made me doubt the theories, then I remembered "wait! Humans can use palismen!" as demonstrated by Luz ever since season 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luz is able to use Owlbert to enhance the use of her glyphs as well as fly with him. It's worth noting that palismen are separate magical beings from the witch. They can fly on their own and are used to help enhance a witch's power, not be the source of it.
Now Luz isn't the only human who uses glyphs. Philip Wittebane uses them, and even discovered that by tattooing them on his arms, he's able to use magic almost like a real witch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But this unfortunately came with a cost. Since humans don't have a magic bile sac, it's likely the glyphs were drawing from Philip's life force in order to work.
He did discover that by consuming palisman souls, he's able to keep himself together. Palismen were always an assistant for magic, and Philip somewhat uses them the same way. As an assistant for his magic and his own life.
Tumblr media
Now how does this tie into Caleb? I think both him and Philip used glyphs, but in different ways. I think Caleb used glyphs like how Luz does, just glyphs on paper.
Caleb, however, discovered that he could even enhance his use of glyphs by using a palisman. Not by consuming their souls, but by using them like any other witch does.
I almost wanted to say Caleb also tattooed his arm but by using a palisman normally he was able to keep it together. However by the looks of the memories I guess not.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now here we have two humans, who both used glyphs and both used palismen, but are completely different from eachother.
They're literally polar opposites. Philip abused glyphs and palismen to get what he wanted and achieve a very sadistic goal. He likely justified using the ways of his enemies, saying he 'had to fight fire with fire'.
Caleb was likely intrigued by magic and palismen, and used them normally. He grew up and learned that magic and witches weren't the evil force he thought they were.
The two represent the two main functions of a palisman but put to the extreme.
Philip used the palismen like a literal tool, being nothing more than objects for his succession.
Caleb, however, viewed them as a friend, maybe even a child, since it's theorized he might've even carved and named Flapjack.
I also want to note that Luz seemed to feel traumatized from helping Philip. She thought if it wasn't for her, Philip never would have gotten a leg up to becoming Emperor Belos.
I wonder if Luz fears she'll become like Philip, since both of them are humans who use glyphs. I hope not, and if she does, I hope she realizes she is more like a very different, and much better guy.

Post-Hoot for Clouds on the Horizon!
-Rebecca said Kikimora is now in the “Crate Coven”. Cissy added she was “Definitely not drunk”.
-There was a bit cut from the episode; When Luz goes up the flower pillar to meet Amity, Hunter tries to follow and Willow and Gus stop him, insisting he gives them a minute. Hunter asks why and the two explain he’ll understand when he’s older, and Hunter does “But I AM older.” Then when Luz and Amity look back over the balcony after the kiss, Hunter is arguing with Flapjack, “But I don’t understand, I’m the oldest one here!” The scene was animated and voice-acted, everything; But it had to be cut for time restraints. In the final cut, you can still see Hunter trying to discuss with Flapjack!
-Mela thought Kikimora’s demotion was hilarious; She suggested “Not all of our villains are villains, I think some villains are overlooked heroes” with Sarah asking “And Kikimora is a hero to whom?!” In all seriousness, she said that she thinks we can all relate to that moment of the difference between your aspirations and your actualizations.
-After auditioning, Mela didn’t get the news for her acceptance as Kikimora until eighteen months later, being told that they loved her audition; The wait was because they decided to move Kiki to the end of S1 and the season after.
-Mela’s favorite scene is Kiki’s phone call with her mom, with Sarah agreeing it broke her heart. Cissy jokingly asked if anyone in the show didn’t have mommy issues, Sarah joked about Luz’s daddy issues; In regards to Camila wanting her to be someone she wasn’t; “She just wanted me to survive, she just wanted to give me the skills to survive, she loves me as I am, but that wasn’t doing me well in the real world.”
-It’s common for VAs to record from inside their ‘sound-proof closet’, which of course is often very hot.
-Sarah didn’t know Kiki had a mouth until Hunting Palismen, which led to them joke-suggesting that Kikimora could just telepathically communicate to people without a mouth, which would be terrifying to everyone if she was a mind reader. Mela joked that invisalign was a thing in Palm Stings while in elementary, with Kikimora also wearing a turtleneck to cover her mouth. When Sarah pulled up her own turtleneck to cover her mouth, Mela joked she was Kiki’s twin sister, “Blikimora”.
-Shawn Responts did the color design for the Palisman Monster in Hollow Mind. He also did some of the color and lighting on the Lumity kiss scene! He’s been on the show since Mid-season 1, and has done season 3, where he got the promotion to lead the color design.
-Sarah auditioned in 2017, and got her call two months later in June (which is still super-long), Cissy did her audition in the February of 2018, and didn’t start recording until December that year. Sarah auditioned for Luz AND Amity!!!
-In regards to Rat Alador: According to Rebecca, when they storyboard and Alador is in there, he looks a lot like a rat, so they decided to just put in a Rat Alador.
-Cissy joke-suggested that Owlbert and Lilith’s palisman worked together behind the scenes. According to Rebecca, Lilith got to keep her palisman because she needed it to travel back in time; For the same reason, that was why Belos let Luz live.
-Rebecca isn’t sure why Lilith doesn’t have a sigil. Sarah mentioned that when people wondered why Luz’s jacket sleeves got shorter, she suggested Luz just scrunched it up (which season 3 seems to support).

Note
I agree that Luz "inheriting" Owlbert would be a really good way to end her arc about palismen on the surface, but do you think it could also interfere with her arc about becoming her own witch?
Looks within the fathoms of Pandora's box. There is... So much that could be unpacked with this. I won't cover it entirely here but Luz's 'arc' of becoming her own witch actually is fraught with topics like where she gets her magic, what her magic says about her, how the show frames her at the end, whether or not she actually ever becomes her own witch, whether or not Stringbean even counts as an extension of that with how he was made, if that theme was actually important to the show, let alone when put against themes like found family, etc. etc.
I'm going to TRY and keep this mostly to a fundamental flaw in your argument.
Just because a craftsman uses their master's tools does not mean they will make the same things the craftsman did.
Your argument says that Luz using a tool made by her to emulate someone else and make what they would (like... I dunno, Azura, who she quotes for her final lines while still having magic) is more herself than if she uses someone else's tools in order to make something that is truly unique to herself. That what a person does is less important than that which they use to do it. It robs Luz (and fucks over Hunter's arc from literally his second appearance) of agency in choosing what type of witch she wants to be.
Because, you know, if the palisman entirely decides the witch, are Gus and Willow now no longer their own people? They now must follow the paths that their palisman are okay with? The statement of intent helps but it isn't the whole person and also begs the question of if the statement even dictates the sort of person you are. Gus says he wants to be an ambassador to the human realm but that doesn't dictate if he'll do it with friendship, manipulation, tricks, illusions, etc. etc. which I would place WAY MORE importance on how he is an ambassador than literally the title of ambassador. Willow is similar. When she wants strength to protect her friends, is that to stop them being harmed from when they get into stupid situations or the power to be able to stop them from doing the thing in the first place if she thinks they'll hurt themselves doing something? And these two statements are awkward next to each other because one is a statement of morals and character while the other is just what they want to do in the future. Why are these both equally valid answers?
It's almost like it's really hard to boil someone down to a single sentence.
This is without getting into more abstract statements like "I want to be able to choose my own future." Cool. WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN AMITY!? That is actually just what Luz said that made it so she COULDN'T get a palisman so why did it work for you? Sure, it's nice to want choice but does that mean you intend to fight for other people to have that right? To become so powerful no one can dictate who you are? It's a meaningless statement without any further context and doesn't even have the morality or future plans that Gus or Willow had.
"I want to be understood," is the exact same. What does that say about the sort of person Luz wants to be, let alone what type of witch she wants to be. Worse yet is that Stringbean does react to the words but... Luz literally gave up agency with her palisman. She let Stringbean decide with no actual intent behind them. While nice for the meta theme of individuality and choosing your own way, it fucks over the ability for Stringbean to say ANYTHING about Luz, her relationships, her interest in what type of person she wants to be, etc. like that.
Worse yet, it's all tell, no show. How one uses their palisman should be way more indicative of who they are and the sort of witch they are than simply a single line said to them during creation, especially since people change. Circumstances change. The show even admits that having your entire world figured out at fourteen is not really a thing. It's part of why Luz doesn't make a choice or the like. Her statement is just a feel good one for her that entirely ignores the fact that everyone has shown her MOUNTAINS of understanding over the course of the series but apparently that wasn't good enough. Just one episode ago before that after all, she was forgiven for something she thought was unforgivable because her friends knew better than to think Luz would do something like this out of malice or on purpose. You know... Because they showed her understanding. But then we're told she needs MORE understanding.
Which one of these is more effective?
And hey, if the show really was worried that a palisman overrode who you were A: they wouldn't have given Hunter Caleb's palisman, let alone had Hunter absorb CALEB'S palisman because that kind of fucks his arc immediately of trying to be his own person. B: You can do something with that. We could have seen, even in just steps instead of a focused episode, that Luz and Owlbert struggle to work together at first because they are expecting different things out of each other. As the two show more understanding to each other though, accept who the other is, one of the other major themes of the show, they are stronger for it. There's enough familiarity to work together after all but they need to actually get in sync. Again, show this bond instead of just stating it.
Not only that but Luz is portrayed as someone who helps bring in others. That she theoretically helps people in bad situations find a place where they can be themselves. Taking in a palisman who no longer has a use would actually be a great follow up to that part of her character and a more explicit version of that hypothetical theme than what she does with most of the other characters. Instead, she is one of two Hexside members who gets to make their palisman (unless Amity didn't I guess). The only one who customizes specifically to her, in theory since she doesn't. Why didn't she take one in? Give them a place instead of leaving them as an outcast?
Unless we want to say that's not a part of who Luz wants to be. That that's on accident, which does feel accurate to a lot of what Luz does on this topic. That's also an inherent issue with her statement. "I want to be understood." It is an inherently selfish one. One that asks others to show endless understanding... Even if she doesn't have to. After all, she's allowed to lie, ENDLESSLY, break her word and act behind people's back but the one time Eda does that, for Luz's safety? Luz doesn't show her ANY understanding. Doesn't give her even a chance to explain or talk. Instead, she gets into a fight with Eda. That plus her statement seems to imply that Luz being her own witch is... Selfish. Self serving. That who she wants to be as this mythical figure is for herself.
The final part of TOH doesn't help with it either. An older Luz should have had a real statement for what she wanted to study. "I'm choosing X because of Y goal." Instead her goal is just... Magic. To do as much as she wants. Actually putting it to use? Who needs that? That's actual work and having to make decisions instead of being an eternal student. Of having to take a title beyond just 'witch'.
This still isn't even all of it. Siiiiiigh.
What's worse is that even the action of Luz trying to give Stringbean their own option in this is the facsimile of compassion. Sure, she let it be up to her but... Couldn't you come out already? I know I left you in an egg because I refused to be open and honest with you and make an actual bond but come on, stop making me sad because you're not awake yet. After all, Amity even has to comfort Luz about the fact Stringbean hasn't hatched. If Luz actually gave a fuck about the thing's agency... She would just grin and bear it because that's part of allowing someone else to make a choice: Dealing with the consequences.
Luz, and to some extent the show, didn't want those though. Instead, they wanted a couple nice lines that make NO SENSE in context but sound really nice to the people projecting onto Luz. Because they TOLD us nice things, they stopped caring about what the actions were saying.
And actions will always speak louder than words so no, I don't think Owlbert would have gotten in the way of Luz defining what sort of witch she wants to be. No worse than Stringbean did at least.

Not to be mean or anything... but when I see people compare Luz to Caleb and think Evelyn and Caleb are supposed to be about Lumity I tab out immediately.
The parallels between Caleb and Luz don't work; and Lumity isn't Caleb+Evelyn because
Hunter is a clone of Caleb and is the only Grimwalker who looks the most like him. Hunter and the GG's are tied to Caleb whether or not they like it or are even aware of it. Their lives and deaths have always been determined by what Philip believes his brother should have been - a fellow witch-hunter who would never abandon him for the evil he wants to destroy.
2. Caleb is an orphan. The only remaining family member is his brother Philip. Before Hunter knew the truth of his origins he was raised to believe that his entire family was wiped out by wild magic. And that it was his "uncle" who saved him and is his only remaining family. This mirrors Caleb and Philip as orphans who were the only ones left of their family after tragedy befell them. Though the caretaker role has been reversed.
3. Caleb's entire deal is that he's fundamentally a good person who eventually forsakes his "oppressor" mindset. We can even see this quality present in all the GG's including Hunter. Every single one of them came to the realization that what they were doing was messed up and changed themselves. And that they'll always try to put a stop to Philip's plans. But yeah, the "unlearning of an oppressor mindset" doesn't work with Luz for reasons that are so obvious I'm not going to waste time writing them out.
4. Amity did not "entice Luz away" with magic and Luz did not run away to a new world because of Amity. Luz ran away to TBI specifically because she followed Owlbert through the door. And she didn't stay there for Amity. She stayed there only because she wanted to learn magic and live out some kind of grand destiny in a fantasy world. AGAIN, Luz did not run away to TBI because she wanted to start a more peaceful life with her lover - she "ran away" because she wanted to learn magic and live out some kind of grand destiny in a fantasy world. She never planned on staying on TBI for the rest of her life despite dating someone from TBI. And I honestly don't see this show ending in a situation where Camilla and Luz are going to spend the rest of their lives on TBI. The most likely outcome is that they're going to find a way to go back and forth between worlds.
Also I want to point out that unlike Philip's and Caleb's relationship, Camilla's and Luz's relationship isn't hinted at being unhealthy and eventually abusive. This is important to note because Caleb most likely "abandoned" Philip because he came to realize their relationship was poisonous. Luz didn't INTENTIONALLY "abandon" Camilla like Caleb did with Philip. Camilla is not a toxic influence over Luz's life that Luz wanted to get away from. This is why Luz "running away" and Caleb running away doesn't - the motivations are completely different.
5. Amity does not have meaningful history with the main villain like Luz, Hunter, Evelyn and Caleb do.
6. Luz lured Hunter away from Philip. I mean this literally and from a character arc standpoint. Here, let me just copy and paste what I wrote in my pinned post:
" Okay so let me explain why this drives me crazy as someone who loves storytelling. Because this parallel doesn't start when Hunter is running away with Luz in Hollow Mind and stop in the season finale. It goes deeper than that - to a character arc level - and it goes all the way back to Hunting Palismen. This episode is the start of Hunters positive change arc and "betrayal." The person to spearhead his positive change arc and "betrayal" is our favorite WILD WITCH Luz. Completely unbeknownst to Hunter, the moment he lets Luz go he is taking a stand against Belos. And he's following Calebs footsteps by choosing a wild witch over Philip. That is so romantic it's crazy to me"
Romantic undertones aside - do you know how important this is? That both Hunter and Caleb were lured away by someone who represents something they've been taught to fear? Caleb was taught that magic was evil so any practitioners of magic were agents of the devil who needed to be killed. Hunter was taught that wild magic was dangerous and that anyone who didn't want to seal their magic were criminals that needed to be killed. Do i need to say any more than that? This is also why "Amity enticed Luz with magic" doesn't work because Luz was never afraid of magic.
7. Luz introduced Flapjack to Hunter like Evelyn did with Caleb. It's unclear whether or not Flapjack was hers or she carved him for Caleb. I'm more inclined to believe the later because of how Flapjack is a cardinal - a.k.a a creature that is not a native species on TBI. Either way, the point is: without Evelyn showing him that magic isn't evil, Caleb would have never wanted Flapjack. Just like how Hunter would have never wanted Flapjack if Luz didn't show him "wild" magic wasn't dangerous.
8. Evelyn is a Clawthorn and Amity is not. Luz isn't a Clawthorn either but she's heavily associated with this family. And this family has alot of ties to the plot of TOH. Amity doesn't hold the same weight in the story like the Clawthorns do.
9. Luz is a "witch from another world".
People tend to forget what wild witches are and how magic works in universe. Wild witches are witches/demons who refuse to limit themselves to one of the nine main forms of magic.
Magic operates in two ways: either the spellcaster writes a spell in glyphs to perform it or the bile sack, which produces all the glyphs, combines them for the caster. For the former, if you know all the glyphs then you have access to all the same spells someone with a bile sack would have. However, unlike a person with a bile sack, you need to spend some time writing out combinations to figure out how to get the spell you want. This is why this parallel still works despite Luz not being an "actual" witch. Because, even without a bile sack, she still has excess to all forms of magic, just like any wild witch with a bile sack would have.
I need to point out Luz not being an "actual" witch is irrelevant. The point is that Evelyn and Luz represent something Caleb and Hunter were indoctrinated to fear. Evelyn representing magic and Luz representing WILD magic. Through Luz and Evelyn, Caleb and Hunter came to realize the thing they feared wasn't actually dangerous. And because of Luz and Evelyn, Hunter and Caleb were "lured away" from Philip so they could try and live more peaceful and fulfilling lives.
It just doesn't work with any other combo of characters besides Luz and Hunter.

Ok, since Luz is officially carving her palisman, I’m going to take this last chance to try to predict what it’s going to be.
So, let’s start with the theories. We’ve got
Luz’s palisman will be a bat
Luz’s palisman will be a bird
Luz’s palisman will be an otter
Luz’s palisman will be a snake
Let’s start with number 1. This is one of the most popular theories, but I honestly can’t find much good evidence for it.
Tumblr media
This is pretty much the only evidence I ever see for this theory, and when I looked through the show, I couldn’t find any more. We’ve got Luz’s phone case and tamagotchi avatar, both things she would’ve brought from the human realm, so they wouldn’t really factor into her arc in the Boiling Isles, which is what her palisman should represent, and a scene from a different show.
Most of the theories I’ve seen about this specifically relate to the tamagotchi and the Amphibia scene. Since Amity’s palisman, Ghost, is a white cat and her tamagotchi avatar, it would make sense for Luz’s palisman to be represented by her avatar. However, this doesn’t really seem to hold up. Tamagotchis come from the human realm, so Luz probably had her avatar a long time before the Boiling Isles, and it might just be there because it looks like her phone case, her other main method of communication. Most of this also relates to Lumity-the cat & bat soulmate stuff, the tamagotchis were used in lumity’s first official episode-and Luz’s palisman should really represent her and her growth, not her relationship with Amity. Also, Luz got her phone case before the Boiling Isles, and throughout the series, it’s her only link to her mother, so thematically, a bat would represent the human realm for her.
In addition to this, I think there’s already another pretty major character that a bat palisman makes way more sense for.
Tumblr media
Yeah, Raine. Raine is pretty consistently associated with bats. They literally wear a bat mask and their rebellion was called The BATTs. We haven’t seen their palisman yet, but if we do, I think it’s incredibly likely that they’ll be the one with the bat palisman.
Number 2, Luz’s palisman will be a bird. This one is pretty straightforward. The Clawthornes, Luz’s adopted family, all have bird palismen. If Luz gets a bird palisman, that will symbolically make her a Clawthorne. This one feels a little weird because Luz’s arc through the show has been her discovering herself through the Boiling Isles, the Clawthornes, and her relationship with her family. Luz becoming a Clawthorne would disregard her growth with her mother, and I really hope it doesn’t happen.
3, Luz’s palisman will be an otter. This one is based solely on this one scene from Enchanting Grom Fright, and has no other evidence.
Tumblr media
It’s a fun theory, but it’s got nothing else going for it. There are no otter motifs, we never see any other otters, and they don’t symbolize anything within the context of the show. The otter suit only appears here, and in a photo later in the episode, and I highly doubt that such a big and important reveal that’s been teased since episode 2 would have this little buildup.
4. Oh, boy this is a big one. Luz’s palisman will be a snake. This is probably the most popular theory, and it’s pretty obvious why. Unlike the otter theory, this one has a ton of evidence. Let’s start at the beginning.
Tumblr media
The title card itself. On it, we can pretty obviously see Eda’s staff, with Owlbert in the O, and the last line of the H forming the actual staff. If we look at the rest of the title, we can see the exact same staff shape as the L, only upside down, leading directly to the S. S stands for and looks like a snake. That’s pretty good, but there’s more.
Tumblr media
The opening shot of the series, a scene that represents Luz’s weirdness and creativity has a magical snake, that just so happens to be her favorite color, despite the real-world equivalent being regular green.
Speaking of the real-world snakes, they are quite literally the inciting incident that force Camila to send Luz to summer camp, meaning they are pretty much responsible for Luz’s arrival in the Boiling Isles, and the entire show.
Tumblr media
In Eda’s fake King backstory, we see a stylized palace watched over by snakes, and, if snakes do indeed symbolize Luz, this would be foreshadowing Luz and King’s relationship throughout the show, as they grow to dare for each other as siblings. I’m not entirely sure where the image of King’s demon encyclopedia from episode 4 comes from, as I got it from @sepublic’s own snake palisman post, but a snake is prominently shown on the cover. This again connects snakes, and therefore Luz to the demon realm and demons, specifically King.
Tumblr media
Luz is also seen hissing and otherwise acting like a snake throughout the show. She even thinks her arms are snakes in Eclipse Lake, which is probably just a joke, but does add to the snake imagery we see over and over again.
Tumblr media
Luz and magical snakes, specifically Basilisks, also go way back. She fights a Basilisk on her first day at Hexside, her identity is stolen by a Basilisk in Yesterday’s Lie, and by the end of that episode and in Reaching Out, she and said Basilisk, Vee, are basically siblings.
Not only is there a frankly ridiculous amount of evidence for this theory, it also works really well both thematically and narratively. Thematically, snakes symbolize Luz’s creativity and weirdness. She doesn’t fit in in the human realm, and that’s shown by the snakes. She does fit in in the Boiling Isles, which is also shown by the snakes. No one in the Demon Realm ever mentions her snake hissing or thinks it’s weird. Snakes are considered weird, wild, dangerous in the human realm, but they’re completely accepted in the demon realm.
Tumblr media
Here I’m going to slip into headcanon for a bit. While I believe that her palisman will be a snake, I believe that it will be a winged snake specifically. One, a winged snake will tie into the winged/bird theme of the Clawthornes, making Luz’s palisman a symbol of herself and both her families. She’s a human, but also a witch. She’s a Noceda, but also a Clawthorne. She’s a snake, but she can still fly.
Secondly, in mythology, a staff with a single snake around it was the symbol of Asclepius, god of healing.
Luz, throughout the show, has healed the Boiling Isles. She’s made Eda a better person, helped King and Hooty, redeemed Amity and Lilith, and is trying to save Hunter. She’s reformed Hexside, saved witches from the Conformatorium, and has been working, at every opportunity, to expose Belos and save the Isles. Her presence has made everyone better; she’s healing the Isles.
I also think it’s incredibly probable that Luz, armed with a symbolic healing staff, will save the witches from their sigils and save everyone.
Still, this is just my theory, and whatever Dana and the crew have planned, I’m sure it’ll be great.
