Summary: They’re your best friends! But some of the people (NPCs) crushing on you beg to differ, and are starting to hate seeing the guys flaunt their closeness with you.

Characters: Ace, Epel, Deuce, Cater, Leona

Ace

He’s someone that does this on purpose. It started with dropping in randomly while you were hanging out with other people. Ace picked up on their jealous stares whenever he stood a bit too close to you or laughed at his jokes.

It’s the way you visibly look more comfortable once he’s arrived, because with Ace there you feel less of a need to uphold politeness or conversation-carrying; his personality draws eyes to him instead. And then the one he’s talking to and looking at is you, but despite how that should make you feel put on the spot, it doesn’t. 

Ace dances between aggravating them on purpose and feigning ignorance. He glances at the others when you’re not looking before sporting a smile to ask if you’d go to his basketball match next week. You sigh and say of course you will, ruffling his hair so as to get rid of his smug grin. If Ace doesn’t win, then dinner’s on him. He agrees, happy to leave the room now that he’s left a mark on the conversation. The other students’ moods have dropped, but you don’t know why.

Ace is also the type to be casually touchy, to the point where strangers ask if you’re together - to which he offhandedly says ‘nope!’ only to share your drink (indirect kiss) and receive odd (and some frustrated) looks in the next minute. 

What, is this not normal? Color him flattered that you’re so lenient with him then! (Big faker, horrible horrible)

Epel

Another one that knows exactly what he’s doing, but what else should Epel do when people are eyeing you when he’s also hoping to confess as well? It’s only natural for him to take advantage of his circumstances - he’s already closer to you than they are, and frankly, while he feels bad at the way they deflate when he enters the room and your eyes immediately catch his, Epel feels a sense of pride from how charmed you are by him. It’s like seeing a garden of flowers lean towards the Sun for its attention, only to find that the sunlight has a favorite.

As jealous people sometimes do, his competitors try to subtly mention that Epel is quite cute for a boy, only for him to drop in (he wasn’t eavesdropping, just passing by) and invite you on a magic-wheel joyride. Your evident familiarity with this side of him only throws the others into confusion, and if they challenge Epel to a race, then… he can only accept it and beat them fair and square, no? 

Slightly reckless but also very well-versed (to your worry) with going at high speeds, Epel wipes the floor with them. As to why you’re not a fan of this, it’s because he suggested you sit behind him to ensure he doesn’t cheat! (He’s doing this on purpose of course, but despite your comments of “you’re trying to kill me” you comply, which only strengthens his resolve as you wrap your arms around him to hold on for dear life.)

Deuce

(the NPCs are your friends from outside of school/your hometown! Implied that you and Deuce live fairly close to one-another)

He’s just a nice guy! A guy you think to rely on when you’re in trouble because there’s no one else as genuine and willing to help, in your book. And also the person you dare to open up about your struggles too, if only because Deuce Spade is no stranger to goals that seem unreachable at the moment - like every time you try to climb higher, the earth loosens and slips from beneath your feet and tests your strength.

If he ever hears the other students telling you that he’s a magnet for trouble, Deuce almost slips into self doubt before seeing the look on your face; the obvious disagreement, the hint of offense taken just at the idea. It makes him happy that you have his back even when he’s not around, but a part of Deuce didn’t want to be a wedge between you and your other friends either.

Their complaints soon die however when Deuce’s goodness manifests in a way no one can deny (not anyone with a conscience, at least). When you texted him and mentioned you forgot some ingredients for hotpot when your friends were over at your house, half an hour later there’s a knock on your door because Deuce has run over from his place with said ingredients, saying he had extra at home (“it’s going to expire soon, just take it, don’t worry”), and in a swell of emotion you almost burst into tears at the gesture (Deuce is the only one ever).

Cater

Who’s that guy that always tags you on Magicam? Cater likes being able to see his presence on your profile - it makes him feel more supported on the vast social media sites and quick-moving trends. Whenever you comment on his posts, a smile reaches his face at the sight of a comment that actually knows the context behind the pictures.

So of course, his jealous competitors are quick to ask you about your relationship with Cater. Were you dating? If not, why was he so clingy to you?

You never thought of Cater as clingy per se. Sure, he likes to throw his arm around your shoulder and give you celebratory hugs when something good happens, and texts you a lot - but that’s just how he shows affection in general, you tell them. He’s just a really good friend, and in your head you think that a part of you also relies on his cheeriness to keep your mood up. He always seems to be keeping the energy fun for the sake of others, that you wonder if he gets bored when you both just do nothing at his dorm, flipping through your feeds and doing meaningless quizzes about your personality type.

And then you recall how Cater always asks you for your results, comparing it to his as he leans his shoulder against yours to get a better look at your screen. 

Does he know he treats you different? Maybe. But that’s for him to cling to as long as he can, before Cater has to fess up to his own emotions.

Leona

A mix of intimidation and annoyance is what your admirers tend to feel, whenever you’re with Leona.

You’re one of the only people that can approach him with a smile and ask the randomest things without fear of being shut down, and Leona simply regards you with a sway of his tail and comments here and there. If you’re feeling talkative, you strike a back and forth with him, engrossed in a conversation that onlookers can’t particularly intercept.

More annoying however, is when Leona knows they’re seething inside and just annoys them more by asking you if you could do something for him, like getting him food from the cafeteria. The goal wasn’t to make you run an errand, but have you ask him to go with you instead and buy it together. And with a purposeful act, Leona ‘reluctantly’ leaves his napping spot to be dragged away by you, hand pulling him lightly by the wrist or end of his sleeve.

Sometimes, you’re seen picking up an extra lunch while in the cafeteria line, thinking that you could save Ruggie some trouble by visiting Leona at the greenhouse yourself. Did you realize how much you were spoiling him? Leona says yes, though this awareness might be buried under several layers of him just being ‘a good senpai’ to hang out with. With time, he’ll make his stance clear though. No amount of daftness can ignore Leona when he wants to tell you something, after all.

You can drink him under the table, he's such a lightweight

I'm so sorry to tell you your man's a wanderer. At least once you're going to turn around and say "where'd Sabo go????" Half of your night might be spent looking for him

Despite being drunk Sabo's still a gentleman, you two are gonna stumble down the street arm and arm, he'll walk on the outside of the sidewalk closer to the street to keep you safe, and he likes getting your drinks for you

He drinks sugary drinks and will have a HORRIBLE hangover in the morning

He's not necessarily an angry drunk but he is a loud argumentative one, when he inevitably wanders off you're going to find him loudly arguing on behalf of the revolution and shit talking the world government to anyone that listens and to anyone who won't

You're also going to give each other increasingly stupid dares and stunts throughout the night

Gets affectionate as the drunkness gets closer to tiredness and then he turns into a cuddly man baby

Y'all also both crash pretty unceremoniously. Hack is going to find you two curled up in a coat closet together with a random dog and a dick drawn on your face???

ACE

two words: GOOFBALL ALERT!! He's unserious normally but when he's drunk unless something really, really bad is going down, don't expect a serious response out of him

You're all of his impulse control for the night and if you don't have any either than good luck to Marco...

Will loudly brag about you to anyone who listens. Probably does a toast just because you exist and will probably say something he shouldn't

Please stay near him, he just wants you to be right next to him. If you're a wanderer you're gonna stress him out real bad and he's gonna start spiraling. He's just physically clingy, he's got his arms wrapped around you, his head resting on your shoulder, sitting on his lap would make him very happy. -10 personal space.

Lights a shot of liquor on fire and drinks it to impress you. Every. Single. Time.

Speaking of that he repeats SO MANY of the same stories he's told you before

Also wants to dance with you, you've got no option unless you absolutely hate it

Tells you he loves you once every 2 minutes. please say it back. Don't be surprise if he proposes to you a couple of times when he's drunk

Inevitably starts crying...the later it is the more likely it is to happen. Just be prepared to coddle him and be covered in snot before morning.

LAW

First of all, it's gonna take a lot to get this man to actually drink. He's not a fan of being out of control. But he would do it, especially if someone told him he couldn't or told him not to

He also doesn't have the highest tolerance, the fact that he's tall is the only thing saving him from being a lightweight

You know he's drunk because he gets really expressive and talks with his hands a lot more.

I'm telling you this man is going to start talking about his coins. Fucking coins. And Sora. He's gonna out himself as a huge fucking nerd.

He's the most self aware drunk you've ever met. For the entire night he's fully aware of the things he shouldn't be doing/saying and still does them.

"I've had way too much, Y/N-ya. This is going to be awful."

*Gets another drink*

This also includes being all over you. If your relationship was a secret it's not anymore because he can't stop staring at you and keeps finding his way back to your side. And he does this thing where he keeps inspecting your hands and fingers??? He's captivated by them. You think he's trying to hold your hand without looking like he's holding your hand??? But it's kind of unclear????

The more I think about it the more I'm certain that drunk Law turns into a little weirdo.

If you touch him at all he's going to turn into putty, like his face is just gonna look like 🥴

This man is gonna fall asleep.

Well, hell froze over and he did. Somehow.

Drunk Zoro is surprisingly friendly, he even almost compliments Sanji which is WILD

Like he kind of has something nice to say about everyone worth saying something nice about

There's still something really intimidating about him especially if anyone makes you uncomfortable

Suddenly Zoro can't remember your name and only refers to you as "my girl" or "woman"

Honestly, he can't believe you're actually dating him and he'll tell you several times

Will probably say something like "damn, I keep forgetting how pretty you are. 'S fucking weird."

Teases you a lot. He's like a kid pulling your pigtails because he likes you. As soon as you do it back you're going to get a big reaction out of him though

He might play fight with you lmao, be prepared to be manhandled because he's rough around the edges but man does he love you

looking back on it, you weren't sure why you reacted the way you did. in mat's defense (which was a side you took often), you wouldn't have tolerated anyone talking bad about him either.

so why did you accept it from your mom? why did you accept that behavior from her?

when you closed your eyes you could still hear her shriek "how dare you speak to me that way?" you could see the fire in her eyes and the ice in mat's.

you should've kept your mouth shut. should've thanked mat for defending you. should've hugged and kissed him when you got home for sticking up for you yet again.

but you let this stockholm syndrome grip your mother had on you destroy the greatest thing that had ever happened to you, possibly irrevocably.

your hands shook at the idea of losing him, at not wearing his jersey to games, at not curling up in bed while you traced shapes into his chest. your heart ached at the thought of no longer calling him, yours, at not belonging to him anymore at--

mat stormed back through the door, so hard that it creaked on its hinges. but he did the due diligence of shutting it much quieter than he had before.

he pointed at you, his hand was shaking and when you got a good look at him, his cheeks were wet and his eyes glistened.

"i love you," he said. "i will love you until my dying breath and that means not allowing people to talk shit about you. i don't care if it's my friends, my fans, my family or your mom. i won't have it. i love you too much to let someone tear you down. so i won't apologize for sticking up for you, i will never apologize for advocating for you, but i will apologize for yelling at you and letting my ego get the best of me. i never want to hurt you, so if i did that tonight, hear me when i say i am so sorry."

to say you were a blubbering mess by the end of his speech would've been an understatement. you all but launched yourself off the couch and into his arms, where he readily accepted you.

you sobbed into his chest while he rubbed his hands up and down your back as he pressed kisses into your hair.

"i'm sorry, i should've been grateful, i should've been--"

"she's your mom, baby, i get it. just know that i'm never gonna let her disrespect you again as long as i'm around, okay?" he pulled you back just to cradle your face in his hands. "i love you."

The sound of the front door swinging open and Pedri throwing his backpack on the floor of the quiet home startled you. You smiled as you made your way to greet him. He had been gone for an away game in Madrid.

-Amor.- You said as you approached him.

-I played like shit.- He said rubbing his eyes, for the first time since the game being able to let it out. You noticed the sides of his hand were now red, surely from hitting the steering wheel of his car as he drove home after arriving from the airport. He clearly looked upset.

-Come on Pedri, it wasn’t that bad.-

-Did you see when I lost that ball? They almost scored.- Your mind went to the game. The way you had screamed at Pedri through the TV when you saw the horrible decision he had made. You wouldn’t dare tell him now

-But they didn’t.-

Pedri left you standing there as he walked towards the bedroom saying profanities in between his breathe. You knew better than to take it personal, after all it had been a pretty horrible game. You heard your phone ding and see a message from Fernando, Pedri’s brother, come in.

-Esta cabreado.- He is pissed off.

-Thanks for the heads up, he already came in here throwing stuff and yelling.- You replied sarcastically.

-He called me on his way home. He says he disappointed everyone.-

The sound of the television coming from the bedroom you shared with Pedri called your attention as you placed your phone down. You walked slowly over and found him sitting on the edge of the bed starting to rewatch the match against Rayo. You stood at the door and shook your head.

-We are not going to do this right now.- You took a few steps closer to him and took the remote from his hand, turning off the television.

-What the fuck are you doing?- He responded. You tried your best not to let his words get to you.

-You can say whatever you want but I am not going to let you sit here and eat at yourself replaying the match. It’s over, it’s done. I’m sure tomorrow Xavi will talk to you about what you can do better. But that’s enough for now.-

-It’s like they were all looking forward to seeing me play again and then I play like shit.- He went on.

-Come on Pedri, they all know you’re human. You can’t be our savior.-

-But that’s what they expected, they wanted me back so we could play again and instead what am  I doing out there? Losing balls, not passing enough.-

-Don’t say that Pedro. What about the passes you did make that your teammates didn’t end up scoring? It’s not just you, everyone needs to do better next time and you need to stop thinking about it for tonight.-

He stood up and gave you a side eye as he directed himself to the restroom slamming the door behind him. You rolled your eyes and threw yourself on the bed. You should have seen this coming. Being with Pedri was for the most part nice. But he was too in love with this game that sometimes you ended up hating because of what it did to him. He felt like he had won the lottery when he got signed for Barça and now felt like he owed his all to the club and its fans. This type of mentality wasn’t good for him when the team lost, specially when he knew that he hadn’t done a well enough job. 

You laid there with your eyes closed as you heard him slam something in there and then the water faucet begin to run. Minutes later the door to the restroom opened.

-Lo siento.- I’m sorry. He said. You opened your eyes and looked over at him. Still sadness in his eyes but he looked at you with a little pout which truly melted your heart.

-Are you feeling better now?-

He shrugged his shoulders as he began to walk towards the bed, taking off the beige Barça hoodie that made his beautiful brown eyes shine. -I don’t know about better, but I know I shouldn’t take it out on you.-

He sat on the edge of the bed as he took off his shoes. You moved over to be behind him as you wrapped your arms around his body and rested your head on his right shoulder. -You know I don’t deserve you, right?- He whispered as he smiled at you, taking in the warmth of your hug and realizing that’s exactly what he had needed since the end of the game.

-You know we don’t deserve you, right Pedrito?- You asked mentioning the club and its fans.

-Come on, let me help you relax.- You said as you brushed your fingers on his jaw and he tilted his head back. Your lips making a quick connection to his neck. He closed his eyes and enjoyed your touch. Your hands went to move over his chest and you felt as his body trembled at your touch.

-This is very relaxing.- He managed to whisper as you smiled. You let go of him and motioned for him to get into bed with you. He finished taking off his shirt and pants and got under the covers with you.

You immediately grabbed his jaw and began to kiss him, allowing for his gentle tongue to dip inside and begin to dance with yours. His hands around your body and eventually cupping your ass. It was unbelievable how in love you were with him, even being away for one day had been too long and you yearned for his touch.

You pulled away after a few kisses and stared at him. You smiled. -You know I would love you even if you scored 100 self goals on us, right?- He stared at you for a few seconds and then rolled his eyes and began to laugh. -I’m not that bad.-

-I’m just saying.- You said smiling right before he leaned in and began to tickle you. You laughed and eventually began to yell at him to stop because you felt like you couldn’t breathe. He laughed at how dramatic you were and stopped tickling you as he hovered over you. He smiled and leaned down to place a small kiss on your lips.

-Te amo.-

The two of you ended the night in each other’s arms as you watched a series until falling asleep.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I think you’re projecting onto Fizz a lot regarding the whole “he needs to go back to the circus” thing. Like I don’t know you, I don’t know your story, but it’s something that’s not really a part of Fizz’s story at all in canon. He’s moved on. That doesn’t mean he can’t interact with anyone other than Ozzie ever again (some fans make them WAY too codependent). But I don’t think it’s healthy for him/you to dwell on that.

There’s no “right way” to say something as rude and silly as this to somebody, because I have a headcanon or theory about a show that you don’t like, lol? Are you trying to embarrass me into shutting up?

I cant get to the bottom of why the fandom wants to pretend that he isn’t from that place, you want to pretend it never happened and is never mentioned again. Ever. Why? Is he too clean for such a dirty past of poverty? Do you not want to see him have a single positive connection to his past. Or did it all mean nothing and Ozzie fixed it all. Maybe I don’t know your story but could you be running from your past, hiding from the people from it, and projecting onto fizz 🙃/j

Another case of ‘arguing against something I didn’t say’ disease…that’s one thing that infuruates me.

I dont want him to go back to them forever and to leave Asmodeus and move in with them💀 I want him to have conversations with the people who for all intents and purposes, are his family. So we can see what the dynamic was like and how it changed. Hell, even if it’s Cash Buckzos funeral and we see the whole troupe reunited and talking to each other for the event. Then getting into it about who all his money should go to, cause the twins don’t want it, or something. Loonas family/parents also left her. That doesn’t mean we should never see a scene where she meets them and speaks to them.

Just look at these characters from the past. Five jester clowns who look almost exactly like Fizz does now. The difference is their hats have the original logo, fizz has a heart. Hey, maybe he still keeps one of his jester hats with the old logo on it which he keeps hidden away in the back of the wardrobe, gathering dust, but he doesn’t toss it out. Like you seem to think he should. Because not every memory is bad, and that’s ok. Pretending you don’t have a past and don’t have any relatives or memories, that is what’s unhealthy anon.

Isn’t there a part of you that would be interested to see him finally not feel like he’s completely out of place and feel like he’s one of them and they aren’t lost forever like he thought? He keeps saying how much he’s lost, over and over in Oops and his song. And in Mammons, it’s painfully obvious that him losing his entire home family and life in a horrible accident, is what makes him so afraid to “lose” (—it all again) The second life he built. You’re acting like he’s not lost anything. And isn’t even traumatised anymore cause he has Ozzie. Cause uh, lemme tell you that’s not how trauma works.

Wouldnt it be nice. Just once. For there to be a typical family moment where he’s mistaken for and called by one of their names by accident? And he laughs and is happy, because that’s not something that ever happens? He doesn’t feel like he sticks out so much? Heck I ship him with Blitzø and I’d never want for Blitzø to be the one and only person who ever mattered to him back then. That’d be strangely isolating. Acting like he has no past kills his story.

IMO, Everything we see is in the contract. He isn't married, and he feels bad about lying. I know it eats at him that people in HW know he pulled this embarrassing stunt. He's ashamed, that's why he's hiding. At least disable all of your SM after your true love's bday. I was expecting another photo dump for his true love. He's embarrassed about team real vs. team PR. He's embarrassed that his life has been outlined and that magazines and gossip blogs, basically anyone, can read and refer back to everything on tumblr. He's embarrassed about being called a creep. I agree with the anon about Chris being timid.

But, why on earth would anyone settle with a person who is willing to post nudes for more fame. And he's private. She pulled a Kim K. When that happened, I thought, "damn, she would do anything for fame." Like all these influencers and youtubers. Those are the worst kinds of people imo. It wasn't a fit. She and her friends followed sugar baby pages that had him as a target. She had someone randomly 'spot' them at WDW, and all of that screams, "I can't be trusted." He took control of the narrative because he hates being filmed or photographed without his knowledge. She made moves he wasn't aware of. He calls his own people for staged photos. She changed all of her interests to his as well. He sees right through it. I truly believe none of his circle likes her. Including his family. I wouldn't want my son/brother with a girl who researched him and changed her personality to fit what he likes. That's a wolf in sheeps clothing. If he did spend alone time with her, he's probably anxious about her talking about their relationship. So this is transactional, make her famous to get her on her merry way. But now he looks sketchy chasing 20 something year olds in his 40s, which I learned is a pattern for him. His actions and words go against all his Im LIkE StEvE ROgErs bs. If none of this went down, he would still be on his high horse talking shit about Trump, chiming in on the war, and spouting more fake activist bs. But no, he's hiding because of this mess. And it doesn't help that she looks like a minor. The optics are horrible.

Her friends are always around. Like chaperones. Even in NYC, did they have to be present if she was with her "husband"? They are never alone. I know the NDA's are ironclad. He does not trust any of them. This is karma, he reaped and now he's sowing.

I wouldn't dare want to be with anyone who loves clout and morphed into my perfect soulmate after looking me up, like who even is that person really? I couldn't sleep next to someone with two faces. He's stupid for sure, but he's smart enough to be sitting at home alone with dodger while she's in her home country. What do you think about asoryuu?

Oh boy, this one's going to be a bit loaded, so here's a bit of a preemptive apology for a ramble/word vomit/rant on my end. Suffice to say ASRY is a NoTP for me. When I was first getting into DGS all the way back in 2019/20, I was a bit ambivalent towards the ship. I had only watched a playthrough of the first game, and I had the feeling that Kazuma was going to come back, but the ship didn't really scream to me at that point, and it kind of befuddled me to see how it was so popular (and a bit of a tangent, I think people only really ship the 1-1 dynamic, but that's a convo for another day). If you even look at the header of my blog, it is no secret that I ship Ryuususa, and it is my OTP. When I had watched the fifth case on the playthrough, I was sold on that ship, and the last moments really sealed the deal for me-- there's something really compelling about the goodbye scene between Susato and Ryuunosuke at the docks, and the localization legitimately made me cry (happy tears of course!) Being a little naive, I started to post about it and I got... a LOT of harassment calling me a lot of names/accusing me of being okay with a lot of really horrible things (intrusive thoughts WHOOOOOOP). The harassment was so bad that I only recently opened up to my therapist about what had happened, and I was pulling away from servers/people I thought I was friends with/wouldn't treat me horribly. I found a lot of solace with people who were also violently harassed pre-localization (shout out to the Baroryuu community, you all were really kind to me, and I am proud to also be a Baroryuu lover <3), when I say it was drama filled pre localization, I mean it. I can even point out when my harassment started to March of 2021 when someone on twitter said not to read my dgs fics since I was a proshipper (I hadn't even called myself that at this point, and honestly I don't really use that title [idk how else to describe it lol], but I do follow that philosophy and call myself anti-harassment), and since I hadn't had a twt at that time, they linked to my ao3, and since I put my tumblr on my fics, I got a LOT of disturbing anons. Even when I made my server, I used to have a link that anyone could click on (word of the day is naive lmaooo), and I got a lot of creeps coming in trying to surveil the server and make sure their friends weren't in it (one person was even trying to get access to the nsfw section which was FUN). After reading this, you're probably thinking "what does this have to do with ASRY?". A lot of the major bullies in fandom HEAVILY shipped ASRY, and would harass people who shipped other ships (Baroryuu and Asobaro shippers were racist, Homuryuu shippers were okay with incest because of that stupid "greatest family in the world" line, etc.). All in all, it came with a lot of entitlement and anger that other peopled DARED not to ship that ship. Those sorts of people really tainted the ship for me. As for the ship itself, I can definitely see why people love it a lot (especially 1-1), but I really didn't like Kazuma in 2-4/5. I found him to be really particularly awful and obtuse (which, makes perfect sense in the story! Who wouldn't be in his position?). I was also mad that he only said ONE (1!!!) thing to Susato when he got his memories back (despite HER recognizing him and getting the ball rolling), and it was basically "Thanks for helping out my friend, bye!" (#justiceforsusato lol). Even at the end of the game, I still was mad at Kazuma and didn't really like him. It's only due to my friends (namely @leafyemeralds and her VERY GOOD TAKES in our convos) that I eventually started to warm up to him. Now he's my personal punching bag to Atone(tm) XD I suppose TL;DR I'm not a big Kazuma fan, harassment made me really dislike the ship, so I don't ship it (also, can ASRY shippers tag their stuff? this is more of a problem on twitter, but it happens on tumblr. Filters can only work if they're there =3=)

Why was Daeron not in season 1?

For show only fans you might have heard this name floating around. Daeron Targaryen is the youngest child of Queen Alicent and King Viserys. He’s nicknamed Daeron the daring to separate him from King Daeron I or Daeron the drunkard. He’s described as the gentlest of his brothers, being courteous and clever. He claims a dragon named Tessarian said to be a beautiful dragon second only to Sunfyre. Daeron was also milk brothers with Rhaenyra’s son Jace, Thai did not prevent a rivalry from forming. He was sent to be a cup bearer for his cousin Ormound Hightower when he was 12. This means that we should have seen him after the 10 year time skip.

So why is he left out?

I have two ideas for why we didn’t get Daeron. The first is boring, they tried to roll his character into Aemond to keep the cast limited but decided or where forces to have Daeron in the next season. This is why we get Daemon saying the greens have 4 dragons.

The second will take a little suspension of belief in the writers’ skills. They are trying to follow the game of thrones season 1 idea of having one side painted as good (the starks) and one side painted as bad (the lannisters) and in the next seasons show that each side is complex and not just good and evil. I personally do not think this was a good idea because you need the nuance in each side before the conflict starts to understand why it was happening.

In Game of Thrones, it’s easy to understand that the war happens because Ned accuses Joffrey and his siblings of being bastards and Joffrey beheading Ned. Ned’s death was already the big twist for the first season showing watchers that this isn’t your ordinary fantasy show.

This doesn’t translate well into HotD because you get Evil step mom places her bad son on the throne over the righteous and rightful heir. This tells the audience that the story is going to be good vs evil and not the complex and messy family politics it is in the book.

The show might be setting up for a major rug pull with B&C showing the horror on each side but they didn’t want to add that complexity earlier with Daeron. This flattening of complexity also affects Daemon as the show doesn’t acknowledge the horrible things he does and only has alicent and Otto be uncomfortable and antagonistic with him which make them look like the bad guys antagonizing daemon.

In short, Daeron was left out either because they planned to give his plots to Aemond or because he made the greens too sympathetic.

Propaganda:

Welcomed the new cats warmly even when they were extremely rude to her for daring to be looked after by humans. She helped Turtle Tail leave the wild and her controlling boyfriend, and showed her what being a kittypet is like. She told Turtle Tail that her kits will be taken by the twolegs, even though she knows that will make Turtle Tail leave to the wild again. Meaning that Bumble would be alone with Tom (abusive asshole cat who the writers decided can get to cat heaven anyway) and Tom would target her even more because she caused Turtle Tail to leave with his kits. She fled to the wild after Tom was constantly beating her up in a way that the twolegs wouldn't see. She is rejected from the wild cat groups because she is a kittypet and therefore fat and lazy and can't hunt. She tries to live in the wild anyway because she can't live with Tom and her twolegs and dies because the cats are fucking prejudiced. :(

Storm & Bright Stream [Mod's Note: Since the person who submitted these characters was the same and wrote propaganda together, I combined them for this entry]

Propaganda:

I had to submit them both together, because combined they are the worst cases of fridging in the warriors series. Basically Bright Stream is the mate (essentially wife) of Clear Sky, one of the main male characters of the series, who dies tragically while she is pregnant to make Clear Sky angst and make his turn to villainy tragic and try to get the audience to sympathize with him even when he does horrible things and agree with his brother Gray Wing that he should be redeemed. (Gray Wing is also implied to be in love with her so he gets to angst too). Ok that's bad enough but then in the SAME book (the first book of the series), they introduce Storm, ANOTHER love interest for Clear Sky who Gray Wing was also originally involved with romantically, who ALSO dies tragically (again this is all just the first book of a six book series), because obviously Clear Sky needed double the dead wives to make him double tragic and sympathetic. This does lead to a plotline where Storm and Clear Sky's son (who has no surviving sisters so this is still only about the male characters) is abandoned by him out of grief and Gray Wing adopts him, leading to him having to choose between his two fathers, which COULD HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED WITH JUST ONE OF THE TWO BEING HIS MOTHER AND DYING! Not that that would have been ideal either but the double fridging is just so especially ridiculous. Also both are manipulated/treated over protectively by Clear Sky (he pressured Bright Stream into leaving their home to find a better place with him, the journey on which she gets killed, and then tries to control Storm to keep her from wandering off because of his grief for Bright Stream). This is never resolved with the female characters standing up to him because they just die, and in fact Storm dies apologizing to Clear Sky saying he was right all along to not let her go anywhere or do anything and this proves it, setting up for more Clear Sky justifying a lot of horrible crimes with just trying to protect everyone. Because the abuse they suffer doesn't matter, just how their suffering tragically pushing Clear Sky into villainy. Oh yeah and Clear Sky also has a baby sister who dies tragically of starvation to make his belief in eugenics and the disabled being kicked out for population control "so no one starves" more tragic and sympathetic (just a sister, both of his brothers are fine), because there's only one way the authors know to develop his character.

Alaela's a bad ass Cleric of Calistria who fell in love with her husband after she tried to kill him on a dare and he found it really funny. They got married, but after having the triplets she realized she was missing a life of adventure. She waited until they were 12, said "I'm sure they won't get mommy issues if I leave now" and left.

She still regularly writes her kids letters, somehow knowing where they are even when theyre adventuring. Every year she hosts a family dinner where everyone's invited, but attendance is inconsistent.

Bella Montague

She can't hit anything, will eat or drink anything you hand her, and has built a slow resistance to poison from Howl testing his poisons on her since they were kids. They will do literally anything an older woman tells her to, and has accidentally unionized war camps.

Having suffered from sleep paralysis since she was a kid, on the first birthday after her mom left the creature in the shadows, the Eyes That Watch, sent her a cat as a birthday present. Salem's a talking cat who ambiguously hints he was once human, and is a himbo

She takes terrible care of herself, having not taken a bath or brushed her hair in decades now. Her outfit was white when and blue when she was given it, and she's never purposefully dyed it. Delilah often has to be forced to eat by Salem, though at the same time he eats most of her rations for her.

Howl is a disaster pansexual and has a habit of falling fast and falling hard for every man and woman he meets. Absolutely has never gotten a date and never will, because he has negative game. Sally tried setting him up once on a blind date and he panicked and poisoned himself to have an excuse to leave early.

Kolro Montague

Kolro's family had ruled their territory in Ustalav for some time before he became a vampire. Killing his own father, he took up the titles and has ruled the territory with an iron fist ever since, his cruel exterior only pierced by Alaela.

Kolro has no idea how to raise kids, and literally thinks his kids aren't properly adults until they try to kill him and steal his titles and lands. None of them have tried to do so, and none hold a demeanor close to his, leading to constant disappointment. He's not sure how to interact with his kids in a way that's not encouraging murder or discussing the philosophy of war.

Youngest of the Montague triplets, Sally has always been the silliest of the family. Loving peace, happiness, beauty, she was always considered to be a rebel in her family, something she thought stressful. When she fell in love with a halfling bard at nineteen she panicked at how her family would react and did the logical thing:

She robbed her grandmother's grave and placed the body in her bed, burned down her tower, stole the Montague family pearls, and faked her death for five years while she eloped and had a kid. By the time she returned, everyone was so happy about her being alive they didn't care about her taste in men. She primarily lives in a halfling commune with her three husbands and scores of kids and grandkids, but occasionally goes on trips to perform ecoterrorism.

FALLOUT OCS

These have a lot less information, mostly because most of them are my character headcanons and the one TTRPG one I've never gotten a chance to play in a game so it's just for my custom setting

Nancy Alberts

Origin: Lone Wanderer

Pronouns: She/Her

Nancy's genuinely hopeful and happy, but also very shy and uncertain about herself. Growing up in the vault she was the type to try and making people like her by being funny, but none of her jokes work in the wasteland so she's just nervous.

Ends up becoming really skilled at using automatic rifles and the like. She wears the power armor she's given while out on quests, but otherwise feels a lot of comfort in wearing her old vault suit while around the house.

She started getting a crush on Butch before she left the vault that she fucking hated and suppressed. They became a relationship of "well we know each other and not many other people" after he left the vault himself, and kinda on again off again until they actually started dating after the game.

Mouse

Origin: The Courier

Pronouns: She/Her

Mouse lost big sections of her memory after getting shot in the head, remembering some vague details but forgetting a lot. Not remembering her actual name, she just remembers people liked to call her Mouse, and she was from farther out west. Wandering back out into the wastes she found herself.

She ends up becoming classic cowboy, using revolvers mostly with occasional non-scoped rifles, wears leathers and coats. She acts cheerful and happy, though is constantly on the verge of an identity crisis and crying regularly as she tries to figure out who she is. Tries staying alone at first, despite meeting few people, but does bring Boone along after helping him out.

Sees Boone as similar sad person for her to relate to, especially since it helps neither talks about their past immediately. Starts to enjoy his company and adds his gifted beret to her normal wardrobe. Starts to get a crush on Boone, but pretty much immediately knows he's never returning that.

Sleeps with Benny planning to kill him and thinking it's the best way to show Boone "not interested", but they end up talking about their feelings and regrets and she forgets to and falls asleep. Wakes up pissed off and tracks him down, ends up letting him go, and gets pissed at herself again and shoots Caesar for the hell of it before leaving. This all makes her realize how desperate she is for someone to talk to, and makes the crush on Boone worse.

Honest Hearts and Lonesome Road happens and she realizes it's not just Boone, she just has the worst taste in men and is touch starved.

She does the Yes Man ending, and tries and help people around her get better as she realizes she's a complete mess. Tries turning herself into a martyr, but friends keep pulling a "I will drag you into loving yourself" point

Julie "Snipes"

Pronouns: She/Her

Origin: Sole Survivor

Julie grew up in the country and was used to needing to hunt and the like, with her dad being a major doomsday prepper. Gladly settled down and became a suburban housewife after growing up with that, trying to put that behind her. After waking up from being frozen she fell back on a lot of that, while spiraling mentally.

Julie believes completely in customization and sufficiency, though how far she takes it can be concerning. She primarily dresses as above and uses a sniper rifle and pipe pistol for close range. She stopped using her husband's name early on, though didn't feel comfortable taking her maiden name. In the end she ended up getting the nickname Snipes for her preferred method of combat.

She alternates rather regularly between being nice and supportive and wanting to go into the Wasteland and fight everything she sees. Generally tries to help others, but at the same time just feels really lost and unsure of how to act in this new world so she falls back on letting others do most of the charity work.

On top of building settlements and falling back on knowledge she has from her past she customizes everything. Her weapons, her armor, even herself in what ways she can. Julie got really into chems after the apocalypse, often making her own and using them during fights.

Doesn't really get over the death of her husband for a long while, not even removing her wedding ring the whole time or living his behind. Becomes really good friends with Hancock and has brief flings with Piper and Macready, but isn't ready for a full relationship. Does Minuteman ending, after the game she ends up retiring to Diamond City with her robot kid to try focusing on herself again.

Morgause

Pronouns: She/Her

Origins: Fallout 2d20 (Custom Richmond Setting)

Morgause is a member of "The Kingdom", a group of ren faire descendents who formed a pseudo-medieval civilization. A member of the noble class, Morgause left it behind to seek a life of her own. Now she wanders the wasteland trying to help smaller civilizations, while escaping bounty hunters her family sends trying to bring her back.

Morgause still dresses in the pseudo-medieval fashion of The Kingdom, wearing long dresses and veils even to fights. Primarily using rifles, she likes to keeps her distance if a fight happens and use her charisma first when possible. Her dialogue's still peppered with the dialect of The Kingdom, though she's been trying to hide it as it's a subject of ridicule the farther out one gets from their territories.

Morgause travels alone mostly, though has recently started taking up group jobs in an attempt to socialize. Not really sure how to act outside the specific context of a noble of a single culture though it's been slow and with plenty of blunders. Her one and only attempt to have asked someone on a date having resulted in laughter

For both the brother haunting au and the reverse, it's a horrible time for the Shrouds.

Ps: in both cases, their actual overBlot episode is during the 2 Halloween event, which makes the Ignihyde book be the 2nd book. We also get to explore the dorm a bit more too :v

For the normal brother haunting au:

Ortho would be so done and over. Like please end him then and there. He is classmates with VIL of all people! And Idia is just trying to diffuse the situation before his lil hooman brother has a seizure. Like please, he's brimming with anxiety, can y'all act like reasonable beings for like 5 mins???

Idia also being more confident, immediately is able to wipe everyone into their place. Like their parents are off to some more important business and all they have to do is watch over them for less than 24 hours, then everything can get to fucking normal and everyone would be happy and free.

But nothing can be simple when 1 sparkly French IKEA lamp looking ass guy busts in with Epel and Yuu.

Like in the king of Blots Au, Grim is the one that stirrs up the chaos, this time sensing a blot stone that was out of an experiment and transported around. In here, the whole situation drives poor Ortho to the point he cries his eyes out because 'WHY can't you just not act like entitled bastards for a bit?! I don't wanna do this yet you blame me for it?!'. This also touches a very low spot for Idia, who absolutely hates to see his lil brother crying. Cue threatening these mfs to cooperate and catch Grim before he decides to open the gates of the underworld and throw them in there to rot with the rest of the Phanthoms.

Bad part is that these bitches don't feel any kind of remorse for making Ortho cry. Like when the Shroud parents return(they immediately hurried back to STIX, so they came a few minutes after our guys left) and find this absolute mess, with their youngest still sniffling a bit, oh it's a whole shitshow. Mrs Shroud wants to decapitate those guys and Idia actually hypes her up. Mr Shroud is the reasonable guy who firstly calms down Ortho and makes sure that at least the boy is well and no one was severely hurt. The damage was out of both brothers's control, so neither get grounded. Instead we get a nice lil family time. :3

Now for the reverse brother haunting au:

Idia in here has a bit of more calm to him. Ortho tries to convince his brother that since in the end they will erase the memory of these guys, maybe they should try and attempt to bond a bit.

Well Grim goes hairwire and shit hits the fan. Unlike Ortho in the og au, Idia is filled with rage since really, these guys are testing his patience. Ortho, poor Ortho, gets so overwhelmed and worked out about it. Like they were supposed to have a sum nice time and now they are arguing while Grim is rampaging through STIX. Like please stop it.

And this is when Ortho cries, this time out of his robotic eyes real human tears pouring out. The others try to brush it off as being a malfunction of the robot, but Idia immediately fusses over his little brother, trying to make him stop crying. This, of course, brings in more rage to Idia, to the point his whole hair is red and BOI is he ready to tear a new one to these bitches. How dare they disregard his brother while in his home?! Like at school Idia would give it a pass, maybe get annoyed at worst, but here? Here he lives. This is basically his house. And even in his own home these guys don't give a damn about his wish to simply acknowledge Ortho as a person? Nah. He's not having it.

So he speaks his mind. He is doing his best to hold his crying brother, covering Ortho's ears while he yells at the rest for being reckless and pieces of shit in general. He went through the same procedures as them. He was in a similar position of subjects, but every procedure was told in advance and in detail, yet still, they are entitled enough to act like this?! To make Ortho cry and disregard the very serious situation at the moment?! Idia tells them that maybe his parents aren't around here, but he's in charge now and maybe he'll just go over a notch and lock up these guys until the whole things is settled. Ok? No more Mr nice guy, you either listen to him and help contain the rabid Grim or you get cuffed and locked until this whole ordeal is over.

To rub that salt into the wound, after this whole fiasco, Ortho is enrolled as an official student at NRC, which means he has the right to be considered someone. He has every fucking right to be respected and Idia would rub it in the faces of the STIX incident group.

"I Remember it so you don't have to": MCU Loki in the 2010s: Rape Culture, Villain Queer-coding, and Homophobia

I know Loki is Tumblr’s sweetheart since 2011 (and that subsets of Loki fans are insufferable, fuck those that harassed and singled out Kate Herron and Sophia Di Martino because Sylvie). But a part of me will always be protective of the character outside of Tumblr despite his popularity. I hate seeing bad takes about how Odin was a wonderful father and king, and Loki was just an ungrateful bastard.

Although Tumblr (and many AO3 fics) seem to excuse Loki of all wrongdoings (letting the Frost Giants in and the attempted genocide), I see the opposite outside of it, where he even gets blamed for Hela getting out of her imprisonment. And I have seen a horrible take saying that he should have been left to die as a baby because “he ruined Thor’s life” by some Odin apologist that clearly lied about liking Loki. So he seems to be quite polarizing in that respect based on social media of choice and demographic of users. And some people get a little weird about the Loki hate because how dare you like the sympathetic villain that isn't as masculine as the heroes (I will go more in detail and show some examples).

My hot take on Loki's moral fibre: I just see MCU!Loki as not particularly morally worse (or better) than MCU!Thor, but he just had worse luck in timing and who he ended up with during those badly-timed breakdowns.

I joke around that I defend Loki from Redditors and dudebros because I especially dislike the takes of cishet men that get offended when a girl said she preferred Loki over Thor, and pretend to be “concerned” over “impressionable young women and girls that will get into abusive relationships”. And if you haven’t seen those, well I did while growing up, and I took them personally.

The Nostalgia Critic, one of the men behind the death of media literacy and criticism, even made a video complaining about the phenomenon of Loki thirst. It made me spitefully not care about any other Avengers (2012) character. It’s still up on YouTube, and it was a bit patronizing. Also, he thinks Thor 1 Thor looks like a girl (joke?), make of that what you will...

There was also a propensity to make homophobic jokes about Loki in parody skits. Loki was not canonically queer yet in either the movies or the comics, but he was queer-coded and people could tell, based on the jokes and quips directed at him. There’s one parody skit where Thor and Loki go to court-appointed therapy and one of the jokes is that Loki likes to fuck himself with bananas or “plantains because they’re bigger.” One of the worst parody skits was The Key of Awesome’s Thor:TDW parody.

Loki is put into a “normal” prison instead of the “glowy” kind he kept escaping from. The main joke was Loki getting raped in prison. And that now he can’t act all “haughty” about Thor’s request for help, and is instead the "desperate" one. And you’ll see some old comments over how hilarious that is. And people arguing about how weak or powerful Loki is and bringing the Norse myth about him being raped by a horse into it as proof that the terrible “joke” makes sense and could happen in cannon.

An example that almost made it into the screen is a deleted scene in Thor Ragnarok that I refer to as “the director’s barely disguised fetish”, where instead of falling for 30 minutes, Loki gets locked in a portable restroom while men continuously enter to piss. Loki’s trying his best not to get pissed on. Thor opens the stall giggling, and of course Loki is rightfully angry about being trapped there. It seems to veer into the “bad guys deserve sexual assault as punishment” to an uncomfortable degree.

I often just keep quiet on MCU Loki defense discourse because:

1. Loki is a popular character with many defenders.

2. Subsets of Loki fans are ridiculous and use false pretenses to harass writers and actors. And the discourse that arises from this is mind-numbing and pointless.

But I remember all this crap from the early 2010s, and I am not fond of Loki being deemed "Just evil, whiny, and ungrateful". There’s also the very questionable tropes from earlier Thor comics (hell some of these should ellicit WAY more backlash than Sylki if you really care that much about rep). I also don’t like being told what characters I should and shouldn’t like, and I have taken that personally ever since.

A part of me feels a bit unintentionally gaslighted when people act like there was no backlash to Loki being popular. It has the same vibes as the increduloulity of Gen Z regarding how BAD homophobia in the 2000s and early 2010s was.

Stalkers are fascinating to read about and watch on TV, but terrifying in real life. Do the writers themselves actually like being treated that way? Unlikely. But just because you write about something, it doesn't mean you're into it. They just know their audience. In my fic "Your Biggest Fan", Varian is a two-faced yandare stalker that acts real sweet but will gladly plot for you to suffer behind your back, but in a way that makes it entirely your fault. A lot of people seem to have forgotten that the only reason Rapunzel had her first close call was because he took her into that situation to begin with, showed her something horrifying and then scolded her when she understandably forgot his orders to stay close and went to find a place to quietly take in everything she'd learned alone. And yet, the fans eat up every yandare moment he has. They cheer him blackmailing Eugene with every horrible thing he had done in the past and they cheer him keeping Andrew prisoner as his slave, putting him through some pretty horrifying experiences. He has managed to manipulate both Eugene and Rapunzel to fall for him and he has Andrew as an extra snack on the side. In real life, this kind of guy would be a monster and people would be terrified of him. But, looking at it from the point of view of an onlooker that will never have to suffer his manipulations themselves, the fans go wild and ask for more. A lot of people that read sci-fi or war stories or fantasy stories with daring adventures would probably not ever do that kind of thing themselves. Traveling hundreds of miles? On foot? It sounds cool on paper, but I guarantee that most of the people that read it would probably not even go for a three mile hike without complaining. They like to see others experience stuff they never will, even if they had the chance. It's the same for all those stories. They are safely in reality, and can turn off the TV or game or close the book at any moment, and their life will be completely unchanged aside from spending hours watching someone else's life.

hey everyone! here’s my review of the latest episode of Alert, 1x06 “Tim and Amy”

- so… dare i say it wasn’t horrible… dare i? cause honestly anything is better than whatever last weeks episode was i gotta be honest. but i didn’t think this episode was too bad. okay ya there’s some weird ass blips or whatever but it was pretty good for the track record of this show.

- i’m so happy keith’s finally in freaking therapy!! took way way too long but finally!! but ya the therapist is right, nikki and jason really do need some sessions, even if they’re not together, they need it as parents. we also got a bit more into keith’s kidnapping… kinda?… i hope it opens more conversations for him. also i don’t trust that new kid he’s friends with… idk he just has an odd vibe for me… we shall see!

- the case of the week was actually interesting and different and not weird as hell like last week! i was actually intrigued… weird! i gotta say tho… it might be a bit mean but… i wasn’t a fan of the actors for Tim and Amy (more Tim), im so sorry, they tried but i just don’t think it was it. but besides that, i thought the case was interesting with the new twist of physically going out into the wilderness and finding people. also side note but why doesn’t jason have an actual police issued gun or anything else besides that little pistol?!

- i gotta say tho… the beginning was promising, even th middle was good but what the hell happened at the end?! they were stuck in the cabin, mike was literally bleeding out, jason promises to get Cam and then bam!! they’re at headquarters! i feel like we missed a whole step there! like i get it, u can’t fit everything in but you have to plan that in the beginning and pace it out so u can show those moments! idk i just think i wanted more of how they physically got out and whatever happened to those guys who blew up. but ya it’s only 45 mins and it’s hard to fit everything in.

- i thought kemi’s story was interesting tonight… kinda a cool personal one for her to explore. my only thing about it is how would she 1) be allowed to work on a task force that specializes in missing people when she was literally kidnapped or something herself and 2) how does nikki not know, like doesn’t she have her file as the head of the missing persons unit? okay i’m definitely just being picky here lol! but her story is interesting… i just wish we could focus more on keith and that whole situation first before we get too deep into others.

- i’m sorry but what was going on with C? who was that girl? what? all of his storylines are such throwaway plot points!! like there was literally no need for any of that whole flirting (??) exchange to happen. i’m just so confused with that part, like are we ever gonna see that girl again? bruh!! stop wasting valuable TV time for nonsense storylines!!

- okay skipping back to the end… nikki somehow flew all the way out there in the middle of a storm after the search and rescue people literally said that they can’t go back out after they drop jason and mike off? okay, you know what i can look past that… but i can’t look past the bomb?!?! what?! how the hell did nikki just make a freaking bomb out of nothing!! what!! like where did that come from?! and then she goes on a whole ass speech about her life and idk being suicidal? huh? i get that shes trying to convince the bad guys that she would push the trigger but it was just so out of character for her idk. and then it’s never talked about again for the rest of the episode… like jason u heard the whole thing, don’t u think u should ask what that whole tangent was about!!

- on the other hand, i was a fan of jason showing off his first aid skills, he’s appreciated now! scott was great with that too, he took over the scene!

- i also wasn’t a fan of the reunion between mike and nikki… did it seem kinda awkward to anyone else?? okay so they’re back together.. can we just keep it that way! please! no more going back and forth, just pick a lane and go!! also idk if i like them together… that’s probs just me tho!

- side note: i do like the ending with jason talking to a therapist.. it’s a bit of character development for him just in one episode! okay i’m a fan! let’s see jason in therapy!

- i’m sad we didn’t see sidney… like where was she? and how did no one else really mention her? i’m kinda assuming she’s just living at jason’s house? but idk anymore! i also need to know more about june.. just what exactly is happening there?! it’s been a few episodes since we’ve last seen her! this is the problem with a lot of procedurals (or maybe just this show), they add a character/storyline in that is actually vital for the plot to move forward and then they don’t ever bring that character/storyline back!

- i really loved scott this week… he literally shined! yes i’m bias but he was really good this episode! i’m still not super impressed with dania.. sorry… her whole speech at the end when she had the bomb was just so weird to me… i think she tried to come across as angry or something but it just didn’t work for me. sorry dania. i like adeola role, she interesting! i liked ryan broussard this week, i thought he did good acting out being shot and everything else that comes along with that. i wasn’t a fan of C, i think it’s mainly because i don’t like the character of C and just don’t understand him. and then i really like the actor who plays keith, i think he’s bringing it most episodes!

okay once again, i’ve rambled on long enough! those are just my opinions… i’m definitely looking way too deep into this show but we only have a few episodes left so why not?! haha! and i like reviewing things, especially with scott being involved!

I mean though Enji could have been a little less OTT and not done everything wrong. Its just too much really. Like his predecessors being Gaara's dad or Shinji Ikari(or Zuko's dad) more or less were just fated to be villains who die or get a redemption that now feels quite deserved for Erina's dad but none of them did anything as much as Enji. At this point Endeavor has more number of villainous acts depicted than AFO and his kids together.

Some bad fathers are written in a way that hints they are meant to be perceived as the flattest most one-sided dudes out there. And I think it's ok because sometimes you just can't dwell on the character for too long, you have to make priorities. And when you make more complex characters you have to prioritize where you spend your time too

In Horikoshi's case FOR SOME REASON the need to balance between "Enji did all those horrible things and tormented all his family members" and "Enji is capable of growth and has some genuine care for his family and is a person with his own struggles" is resolved by gently writing how his desires overshadowed any care he had and how he had bad ideas he might've not registered as *that* bad and how he didn't necessarily have intended to cause all that harm but he did anyway and he is analyzing he is growing he is finding new priorities trying to become better REMEMBER HOW HE BEAT UP SHOUTO???? LOOK AT THAT. IT IS SO CRUEL HE IS A MONSTER and the way he felt he can't stop if he went so far already and how he once took a genuine interest in his wife and he remember it for years HE IS A VIOLENT ABUSER DO YOU REMEMBER THAT???? OK???? MAYBE A RAPIST TOO and the way he tries to fix things that can be fixed and we see him worrying about Natsuo and others... And how he cried after finding out Touya is alive. Like, he is so deeply human A LITERAL MONSTER LOOK AT THIS FACE

I don't think anyone else receives this kind of treatment. Dabi almost caused Natsuo's death and openly says he wants to kill Shouto but that doesn't influence the way he is treated by the narrative. There are no constant throwbacks to him hurting someone. No trauma in our protagonist, whom he attacked and Shouto has no hard feelings, only a desire to save him. Enji is trapped in the past he can't fix but none of the literal villains terrorists mass murderers are treated this way. Sure, their storyline is different but how come the things THEY did in the past can be forgiven and forgotten but with Enji we have to constantly keep in mind all the evil he did. Like, if the manga doesn't end with him alive and moderately well while redeeming someone like Shigaraki or Dabi I'll tell you honestly I think it would be the most trash writing ever. You can put all the effort into becoming a better person and all you get is "past never dies" or you can put zero effort but have sad childhood so of course you will be saved!!! Let's forget everyone who ever suffered from your treatment. We are not mad at you

It's confusing and inconsistent. It reminds me of the way people would write something and then get mad if others don't see certain characters as bad/good enough. Like, why do you love this and not that? And so they start being aggressive at fans. How dare they liked someone I created not in the way I want it!

But then, I don't want to be too mean to Horikoshi. Maybe he is just that shit at keeping a balance. A sorta straight line between past Enji and present Enji though I feel like it would be easier if we had his motives explained in detail. Past Enji and present Enji don't feel consistent with each other enough which makes little sense when he is the one telling the story of his past. "I didn't mean to neglect you" but no sign of him thinking about not neglecting them in the past? You have the opportunity to confirm every Enji's word. Idk man

It's a lot about perception and depiction and what is important to the plotline. If you are going to drag the backstory so much and keep on returning to it, then shape it out nicely, show new details, change perspectives. We don't dwell on anyone's backstory for as long as todofam
