I wish that I could draw, if I was able to do it all my fanfics will be illustrated like Fire and Blood, starting with the scene of Cecily and Grace in Geranium where she hugs her in the carriage.

Random gracetopher headcanons:
Before they even start courting, Christopher’s the one that helps Grace with the confidence to change her surname back to Cartwright
Likewise, he helps her research her family and honor their memory. She was very young when she lost them, so I don’t think she remembers them.
It takes Christopher SO long to ask if he can court her. I think James would have to pull him aside and specifically tell him to do it, because Kit doesn’t want to make things weird with the merry thieves.
Once they do start courting, they’re inseparable. Practically joined at the hip. Especially in the lab,
Anna absolutely gives Grace the shovel talk, and Grace just starts laughing and tells her that she has no plans for a future without him at her side.
At some point, Christopher and Grace corner Matthew and they all have a lengthy and healthy conversation about their past. Matthew and Grace learn that they’re not as different as they initially thought.
People of course tend to hurl insults at Grace, and Christopher is the first one to defend her honor. She’s learned to not care what others think of her, but if someone so much as LOOKS at her the wrong way, they’re on his hit list lol
One day, they’re in the lab, and Christopher just goes “what if we got married?” And they have a really long conversation about it and they decide “fuck it why not.” That night, Grace goes back to the Bridgestocks with the Lightwood family ring and a massive smile on her face.

"I married the first girl I dated."
"I think you might mean slept with"
there is. a whole world of implication here. and who would know the intricacies of eddie and shannon's relationship as an outside party better than best friend buck himself and now i have. so many questions. like. like. okay. like. it is very obvious that eddie was in love with shannon. it is equally obvious that they only married because she got pregnant. and now. when i think about their relationship, think about their scenes together, all the things we've seen and all the things we didn't see, i have to wonder: was shannon even in love with him at all? at any point? like. they were friends. they were very obviously friends who fucked around and apparently (obviously) had a very satisfying sex life. but we've often talked about the communication issues between eddie and shannon and how, like, they used their bodies to do all the talking and how unhealthy it was in a dating relationship. but fuck me, i'm starting to think they never even dated. not properly, at least. and that would explain... so much. how ill-fitting they were, how much they struggled, how they could never seem to get on the same page even when they tried. how hesitant eddie was to bring her back into his/christopher's life, like. yeah she abandoned him/them. but when i think about the grace you extend to a spouse whom you know intrinsically (kind of like...eddie...forgiving... no i shan't say) vs. the grace you extend to someone else you love that you maybe don't have that same connection with, it's just like. fuck. you know? like yeah, it was bad enough when i thought they were dating and shannon got knocked up. but if they had just fucked around a couple times? or only went out on a couple dates before having sex? and then they get knocked up and the next thing they know, they're MARRYING each other??? right out of high school????? like. this explains Everything, actually.

I'm gonna be brutally honest, cassandra clare is no longer able to write a final book to her trilogies.
everything was so rushed and at the same time so *slow* in chain of thorns that at christopher's death i decided to stop reading it. I only decided to finish it because I don't like UNFINISHED BUSINESS (you know, cassie, the kind of business you left kit with?), but I was so disappointed in this book that I don't think I'm gonna read TWP when it comes out. I'm tired of creating expectations in my head for them to be completely destroyed once the book is out.
christopher's death was what shattered me. I loved him to bits, he was the only character I really related to, and seeing him gone so unnecessarily made me feel as if I've lost a dear one. I think I'm grieving more than his friends and family, considering how they seemed to get over it so easily except for anna and, somehow, grace.
grace, who is basically considered kit's substitute, both in the lab and in the group! I'm pretty sure she doesn't consider herself that, she would've wanted to keep working with him and who knows, maybe they would've fallen in love (as if they weren't already doing it, you dorks)!
he didn't deserve anything that's ever happened to him in these books, he was treated so poorly that I think cassandra only created him to kill him sooner or later, and in fact, she did.
plus, she killed a character who wasn't functional to her idea of a plot: he did not contribute to the romantic and physical attraction between two characters she so longs for. gracetopher was more of a mental attraction, they were the only ones who truly enjoyed each other's presence just for the sake of being with the one they loved. kit was so into the ace spectrum (and grace, somehow, too) that cassandra didn't think people would like him! but she was wrong about that: maybe he was the one merry thief that people considered less, but he was so loved and so appreciated he didn't deserve the end he got.
I'm open to talk to anyone who wants to share their opinion and, who knows, maybe just wants to grieve with me. let's get each other's mood up, we all deserve happiness.

naming in Cats is a difficult matter so funny because so many names are indicative of the nature of the cat themself. Grizabella is an excellent example: 'griz' meaning 'grizzled' and 'bella' which traditionally means 'beautiful/beauty', aka 'grizzled beauty'. Bustopher is half 'bust' which the meaning of is obvious given his everything and the 'opher' is most likely derived from Christopher, which adds a dignified, traditional vibe to the name that matches his personality.
You also have names like Pouncival, half Percival which is a name that I think most people would associate with a young man, and then 'pounce' added in there to compliment his mischievous and active personality. Mistoffelees is derived from Mephistopheles, a demon from German folklore, though Misto's name has quirkier spelling to give him the otherworldly yet less threatening vibe of his demonic counterpart (which also suits his horn-like curled ears and sometimes cryptid-y vibes in some productions). There's also Bombalurina-- 'Bomb/Bomba' is perhaps derived from 'bombacious' or a similar term to probably describe her general l‌asciviousness and s‌ensuality, and then 'balurina' at the end is an alternate spelling of 'ballerina' to indicate her grace and maybe her performative nature.
And then you have names like Munkustrap. Which... Just kind of exist.

Thoughts on Ilsa Faust in DR. Spoilers.
Thinking about Ilsa Faust's fate in Dead Reckoning and director Christopher McQuarrie's comments about it in the Empire Podcast. As a fan of the franchise and with Ilsa being my favourite character, I feel like I had to write a little something based on the movie and his reason for it. A lot of fans are upset (including me) and I want to write something properly, not just the angry tweets and posts.
To start off, they wanted Ilsa to die already back when they were making TGM. And his reasoning seems to be that he didn't want Ilsa and Ethan to be romantic. Just that baffles me, if you don't want romance, how can you not just write a script where Ilsa and Ethan stay platonic? They handled it well in Rogue Nation and Fallout, you can see they care for each other deeply, but they don't act on it. We could have had Ilsa on the team, she could have gotten out of the game but was brought back in for some reason, she could have had literally any other story. But the fact that the only thing that seemed to come to mind if he didn't want to make them romantic was to kill her off seems very odd.
He also talked about wanting to work with Hayley Atwell for over ten years and this fact seems a little too convenient when thinking about why he had to kill Ilsa off. But we'll come back to Grace later.
He explains that they killed Ilsa off before they even knew the reason why. They killed off one of the most popular characters of this franchise without even having made up the reason behind it. We know that they work without a script, but making such a huge and impactful decision (he says he knew the fans would be upset) without even knowing why baffles me.
I also need to point out, I would have been fine if she had been given a decent, meaningful death. Yes, I would have been sad, but had it felt worthy it would have been one thing. With how they handled her death in this, I can't be sad. I am just mad. Frustrated. Confused.
Let's talk about Ilsa's storyline in this film. At the end of Fallout, she got out. In this film, she is disavowed for some unknown reason, and she is brought back into the game with the whole thing about the key. Kittridge says some weird comments about Ethan and Ilsa's relationship, that Ethan has saved Ilsa over and over when it is clearly the other way around. Let's go with this just being Kittridge getting it all wrong and not McQ but.. what do I know.
Ethan finds her in the desert and the whole scene is very rushed, they barely even talk, and.. she just hands him the key? What was Ilsa's plan? Ilsa's purpose? We don't know and we never find out (at least not in part one). Maybe there was more to it, more to Ilsa's story, we know they cut a lot of the movie, and we know for sure they cut at least two of Ilsa's scenes.
Then she just shows up in the van in Rome before they end up in Venice.
In Venice, we have Ilsa and Ethan hugging on a rooftop and holding hands on the gondola on their way to the party. For someone who claims that they didn't want Ilsa and Ethan to be romantic, I have a lot of questions. Especially since we also had the desert hug where she is literally on top of him. She is clearly a romantic interest, there's no questioning that. And to be honest, that is basically her only purpose in this movie.
Now things get a little messy because we arrive at the party. I have always been a fan of McQ's writing of female characters. He did absolutely fantastic in Rogue Nation, Fallout and Edge of Tomorrow. At the party, the villain gives Ethan the choice between Ilsa or Grace. One of them has to die.
Now, we know Ethan cares about Ilsa a lot, so the choice should be simple, her compared to this woman he just met who kept running away from him over and over and left him to die on a train track handcuffed to a car. The thing is, Ethan Hunt can't make that choice. He cares about each and every individual.
We've now arrived at the reason why Ilsa dies. And I cannot begin to express my distaste for the cliché writing of having a male character choose between two women, one who is a love interest and the other who is so obviously made out to be the new female lead (and potentially, a new love interest, Ethan/Grace share some suspiciously weird longing looks but the fans are divided if it is romantic or not).
Ilsa or Grace. Apparently, there can only be one woman on the team, which the previous films have shown us, too.
I just need to add that they're working against an all-knowing AI, so why isn't "the choice" between Luther or Benji? Ethan's two very best friends, two brilliant tech minds who must be a bigger threat to the entity as well?
In the end, it all comes back to that it's not people that Ethan loses - it's women. And there is only space for one brunette woman on that team.
So let's talk about the bridge scene. First of all, Grace has been running the entire movie, why would she suddenly stop running when there is a man literally trying to kill her?
Anyways, she holds him off surprisingly long considering she's just a thief and with how in the previous action sequences she kind of came off as a damsel in distress. Eventually, Gabriel knocks her down the stairs.
Enter Ilsa Faust. Highly capable spy, Ethan Hunt's equal, a woman who we know is lethal in hand-to-hand combat. We saw her take down Janik Vinter in a knife fight at the end of Rogue Nation and we saw her take down Solomon Lane in Fallout (tied to a bloody chair).
She even has the advantage of a sword compared to the villain who has a tiny knife. They fight. For some reason, Ilsa manages to get in way too close several times (watch the choreography for the RN knife fight - she's quick, get in, slash, get out, you can't linger in a knife fight) and she somehow doesn't seem to be able to hold off the old villain longer than Grace.
She gets stabbed in the chest. Ethan finds her dead on the bridge. In the next scene, Ethan looks sad on a rooftop for a few moments. Benji wipes a tear. They never talk about Ilsa again. It's underwhelming in every sense.
But what makes it worse, is the fact that in the next scene, the team asks Grace to join the team. Not going to get into the writing of that whole scene, but the thing is, they do it in a way that is basically "look what happened to Ilsa." and the things they say honestly make the team seem very cold-hearted considering Ilsa just died. And we know the team is not cold-hearted. Yes, there's a mission and they need to focus on the job, but they really didn't have to do it like that.
When I tell you I have a bad taste in my mouth, boy, do I mean it. Ilsa dies and in literally the next scene she is replaced by Grace.
Now comes the talk about her death which McQ describes as "very heroic". I'll admit, in one way, I get why he thinks it is a heroic death. Ilsa sacrificed herself to save someone else, that would be a worthy ending for someone who dedicated their whole life to saving the world, saving people.
What baffles me is how he doesn't see how poorly executed the whole ordeal was, which is what fans and a lot of critics are upset about (see list of articles criticizing it here:  https://www.tumblr.com/rebeccalouisaferguson/723559978545414144/list-of-articles-criticizing-ilsa-fausts?source=share )
Is it fridging? In one way it is; Ilsa is Ethan's love interest and we know "the choice" between Ilsa and Grace happens because Ethan cares about her. McQ also mentioned it happening to up the stakes, so..
Yes, she also died because she decided to save Grace, but there's more than one reason for her death.
I feel like what also needs to be mentioned is that article with editor Eddie Hamilton who said they cut a "badass" line from Ilsa when she arrived at the bridge. They cut it because it lowered the audience's expectations for what they were about to see. "In the audience's mind, you know that Ilsa is going to kick some serious ass. She kicks a bit of ass, but not a lot. It's not a complete, devastating, ass-kicking, which you hope Ilsa is going to give at some point." They later removed this bit from the article because of backlash. We, the audience, know that Ilsa is better than and so do they.
We know they're doing damage control, a lot was cut from the delayed Empire part two podcast. Somehow, the more they talk about it, it gets worse.
I know this movie is only part one and there might be more explanations for all of this in part two. But with what we've seen in this film, they fumbled her death so badly that the one thing that would make sense is that it is all a trick and she comes back in part two. There are many theories on that, but I'm not going into details or speculating on that here.
A testament to how badly they executed her death is that people literally can't believe they'd fail her character this badly. McQ who we all thought was a brilliant writer. McQ who wrote one of the best female characters we've seen in years only to throw her out as if she was garbage. No matter what happens in part two, one thing is for sure.
Ilsa Faust deserved better.

Tagged for wip Wednesday by @thewolvesof1998 @devirnis @rewritetheending and @alyxmastershipper! Was also tagged by a bunch of people for a bunch of things yesterday but was to busy to post anything, sorry i love you all mwah mwah mwah. Anyway (ringing a bell) Eddie’s miserable, come and get it (a little nsfw this time)
In February he breaks things off with Ana, gracelessly. She deserved better than his mumbling non-explanations over the kitchen sink, but he thinks she probably deserved better from the moment they went on their first date, so there's no use in splitting hairs now. In April he comes out to his sisters, who promise to have his back if he ever tells mom and dad. He privately and guiltily thinks about waiting for his parents to die so he can enjoy his life, but he thinks, overall, that it was a pretty positive experience, that he felt pretty good about it, so he comes out to Christopher a week later. Chris doesn't understand what that means for Shannon, and Eddie also doesn’t understand what that means for Shannon, has been wracked with guilt over what this means for Shannon, who died at 26 and wasted so much time with him when he’s not sure he ever loved her right. And so maybe he falls apart a little bit and maybe he yells a little bit, and maybe Chris yells too, and then they spend three horrible days barely talking, the longest they’ve ever fought. Truce is called in front of a picture of the three of them, together and happy, photo sitting pride of place in the center of the mantle.
“She was my best friend,” Eddie says, telling the absolute truth. “I’ll miss her all my life.”
Chris nods, and sighs, and leans against him, and says if he’s going to get a boyfriend he should find one who’s better at video games, and Eddie takes the olive branch gratefully, and loses at Mario Kart eight times in a row.
In May he gets drunk at Pat's birthday party and begins a series of regrettable hookups with Dylan the x-ray tech. There is not much grace to be found here, either. Half the nursing staff have had a series of regrettable hookups with Dylan the x-ray tech, a fact that makes him feel embarrassed, mostly, but also sort of delighted in some strange and shivery way. A feeling of solidarity, he would explain if anyone somehow had the insight to ask, a feeling of belonging brought about by commiseration over shared bad ideas. Harder to explain but perhaps more true: he liked the feeling of being wanted for his body and wanting another body, he liked the feeling of being used, he liked learning to suck dick with his knees aching on the cold floor of an out of the way janitor's closet.
In June there is a fire that takes out the metro dispatch center.
@shortsighted-owl @burins @buckactuallys @eowon @rogerzsteven @butchdiaz it’s Wednesday my (gn) dudes

And I just realized some of my ship that one person basically baby trapped the other intentionally or because of the situation
(They also skipped dating life and jumped straight into married life and having kids and then maybe one or two divorced in between)
(They aren’t together is what they think and not people around them)
(Not you Hannibal)
Jonlock - baby Rosie
Dando - Grace and Charlie
Hannigram - Abigail
Buddie - Christopher
(Like if one of them was a female, then they would be together soooo fast)

The last hours charcters ranked from how good at fighting they should be
Alastair- didn’t grow up in London and would have experience fighting demons
Cordelia- only lower then Alastair because he’s older and would have more experience
Thomas- Didnt get expelled from the academy early, extra time experience during his travel year to Spain, would make couple mistakes but could kill a demon by himself.
Anna- never went to the academy but probably still went on a travel year somewhere and learned fighting there, most likely got trained by her parents
Lucie- has been actively training for years and has probably gone on patrol in other countries with Cordelia. Not amazing but can hold her own.
James- expelled from the academy early but seems to take training fairly seriously, could win against a still target and possibly a humanoid one as well.
Matthew- never took training seriously and expelled from academy early. Has some natural talent so not terrible but would need assistance to win in a fight
Ari- Never trained beyond basics, some natural talent but not enough to win a fight.
Christopher- More interested in science then training, still probably received some training during his time at the academy, never developed those skills afterwards though.
Grace- Self taught along with Jesse, most likely has bad technique and never really continued her training after Jesse died.
Jesse- Most likely self-taught himself longer then Grace(cementing bad technique in more) but has been dead for some years and his body is very weak. Maybe around Ari’s level by the end of chot.

Heyy boo, do you have a book that is not star wars related that you wish you could read for the first time or reread all the time?
I am searching for books recommendations and I am pretty open about every genre, maybe not horror but everything else is totally fine.
My number one book recommendation that I will always obnoxiously shove in everyone’s faces is Lord of the Rings. It is my heart and soul and favorite thing in the world and if you’ve never read the trilogy I highly recommend it. But I also have quite a few other recs!
Anything written by Andy Weir. “The Martian” is his best known work, which they made the Matt Damon movie of,and while I do love it “Project Hail Mary” is my favorite of his and one of my favorite sci-fi books of all time.
I loved “To Sleep in a Sea of Stars” which was Christopher Paolini’s sci-fi debut a couple years ago but he just came out with its prequel “Fractal Noise” and I liked it even more.
For some good old fashioned space opera brilliance I recommend the “Final Architecture” trilogy by Adrian Tchaikovsky. The last book of the series just came out and I DEVOURED it. Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time,Ruin, and Memory are also phenomenal, you really just can’t go wrong with him.
For more space opera and politics I highly recommend Arkady Martine, she DEBUTED with “Memory Called Empire” which won all sorts of awards. The sequel also recently came out but I haven’t gotten the chance to read it.
I’m in the middle of reading Pierce Brown’s “Red Rising” saga, which I would describe as adult Hunger Games, and have thoroughly enjoying it as well!
For fantasy I love Samantha Shannon’s “Priory of the Orange Tree” and “A Day of Fallen Night”. You’ll get varying opinions of what to read first,I read Priory when it first came out so that’s my biased opinion.
I’m a massive fan of “She Who Became the Sun” by Shelly Parker-Chan and their sequel “He Who Drowned the World” and I want it to go on record I read SWBS when it first came out and before it blew up *flips hair*
R.J. Barker’s “Tide Child” trilogy is awesome, first book of that series is “The Bone Ships.” It’s high seas fantasy with dragon bone ships and epic war and amazing world building.
I always highly recommend “Gideon the Ninth” by Tamsyn Muir and now also the rest of the books in the series. I think the usual pitch is lesbian necromancers in space.
I cannot cannot recommend “The Shadow of the Gods” by John Gwynne enough! It’s quintessential epic fantasy told as a Norse epic and it’s in my top five of modern fantasy books.
While I have serious beef with Song of Achilles just like our fellow obikin Will,I did love and devour Madeline Miller’s “Circe.” In every way I think it’s her superior work.
I can’t recommend fantasy without recommending “The Grace of Kings” by Ken Liu. His entire series will blow your socks off,but the first book won nearly every award for fantasy books that have ever existed.
I’m a huge fan of R.F Kuang’s “The Poppy War” series although I’ve heard this one is a contentious recommendation. I think this series is hate or love it but if for whatever reason you don’t vibe with this series I also highly recommend Kuang’s “Babel.”
If you want something a little less well known I could chew through drywall over Simon Jimenez’s “The Spear Cuts Through Water.” It was in my top five of 2023 release books.
I can also make a separate rec list of less new books and overall classics I always recommend or gift to people, both fiction and nonfiction!

TLH Sentimentality
There's something about the folks in The Last Hours trilogy that sets them apart from the other folks. Like don't get me wrong, I adore the folks from TID, TMI and TDA, but there's something special about the characters from TLH. I don't know what it is, all I know is that they are a special group and they have a special place in my heart.
Like Cordelia, James, Matthew, Lucie, Thomas, Alastair, Christopher, Jesse and Grace, everytime I see something that belongs to them in places like Cirenworth or Cornwall, I immediately tear up. Hence, why I teared up in reading Tessa's letter to Sophie in SoBH. I don't know, maybe because they are not immortal and I can only make connections to them through objects that they possessed during their time (Matthew's flask, Alastair's dagger, Thomas's journal.)
I also remember tearing up during a part in Lady Midnight (I think?) when Emma found a photograph of four boys in Edwardian outfits. My heart and mind immediately screamed "MY MERRY THIEVES!". There's just something about their group that makes them special to me.
Got a little sentimental there but yeah, I just had to say it.
