I will be pretty mad if Lana once again gets snubbed at the Grammys I'm tired of that academy acting as if some of the biggest artists right now aren't what they are bc of Lana's influence

Tell us your 3 fave OC ships and the song(s) or other media you associate with them. Pass this on to 3 others (on or off anon) and let's keep the game going!
Thank you so much for thinking of me! 🎵
Considering I've already kind of answered this for Laurie and Erik in the Valentine OC ask, I will choose 3 other favorites, hehe.
Nate & Ivy
Tumblr media
Lana Del Rey - Born to Die - This has always been their song from the get-go.
Choose your last words, this is the last time 'Cause you and I, we were born to die
Halestorm - Break In - This song is for the second part of their relationship, post-Risa.
Yeah, it's perfectly reckless Damn, you leave me defenseless So break in
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam & Ash
Oh Wonder - Without You - I have a whole character video dedicated to them and that song. :)
'Cause I'm kicking up stones without you Can't pick up the phone without you I'm a little bit lost without you
Nickelback - Far Away - Their song after they've gone to the future.
I love you I loved you all along And I miss you Been far away for far too long
Tumblr media
Laurie & Anh
Sam Smith - To Die For - This is actually an insert song for a moment in the story when they unknowingly cross each other's path and don't know each other yet.
Solo shadow on a sidewalk Just want somebody to die for Sunshine livin' on a perfect day While my world's crashing down I just want somebody to die for
Sam Smith - Fire on Fire - Anh and Laurie's relationship has not reached its peak yet but if it ever does, this is the song I would go for. (another by Sam Smith, yes...)
I don't say a word But still, you take my breath and steal the things I know There you go, saving me from out of the cold

Since another asker is talking about Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, I want to recc a few GriffGuts songs by them too! "The grudge", "lacy" and "get him back!" fit them super well, and they're all from Olivia's GUTS album lol. Taylor's 1989 vault tracks "now that we don't talk," "say don't go", "is it over now?" (and even "suburban legends" for a modern au) are pretty perfect for them too! I love thinking abt them in the context of teen breakup albums, bc it puts into context how young (cont.)
(cont.) they were when all the shit went down oof. (And Ribs by Lorde is another White Girl Song™ that's super GriffGuts coded lmao, especially the last part). Btw, out of curiosity~ I know you have a gigantic drive with GriffGuts songs, but if you had to select a top 15, what would they be? (Based on the criterias of how much you like the songs and how much they fit the dynamic). My top 1 for those dramatic dumbasses will always be No Children by The Mountain Goats, bc that shit slaps hard
Sorry this response took a while lol, I like to listen to every song people suggest, and I've been busy with Christmas stuff for a bit.
Oh yeah totally agree with your picks, especially The Grudge and Say Don't Go! Honestly teen breakup songs are often pretty fitting for them lol, it suits the drama and yeah, the fact that they are technically teens in the Golden Age, which can be easy to forget. Also yeah lol No Children is one of my faves too, it's one of those songs where like, if I can apply it to a ship you know it's a great ship lol.
As for my own faves, I actually don't have my Berserk playlist available right now because I moved laptops and my music playlists got left behind so I have to find where they are on the last laptop and I'm lazy, so I'm going off memory lol.
So yeah, idk if these are always gonna be my top 15 Griffguts songs, but this is what I'm feeling right now, in no particular order:
Once Upon a Dream - Lana Del Rey The Moth - Aimee Mann Take Me - Sisyphus You'll Follow Me Down - Skunk Anansie Drag - Placebo You Had Me - Hannah Fury Devotion - Tracy Chapman Without You I'm Nothing - Placebo ft Bowie I Don't Have Anything - VAST Like a Friend - Pulp Ruin - The Pierces Black Heart - Hey Rosetta! You're the Storm - The Cardigans I Against I - Mos Def + Massive Attack Because of You - Skunk Anansie
I'm also gonna link these two playlists I made. Some of the songs are repeats, but lots aren't.
Thanks for the ask, and your patience!

do you listen to Nick Drake and if you do not.... i URGE YOU TO. "Place To Be" is literally the greatest song EVER. and even as someone who does not care for lyrics At All. the lyrics were like a wrench in the gut. It's from his last album Pink Moon in 1970. he died in '74 :( but also no pressure to listen to it. or like it. ACTUALLY my main objective i have decided is if you are comfortable sharing, what is your music taste? which solo/band musicians do you enjoy? what genres do you like most? what is your favourite song and/or album? and do you even perhaps have a favourite album COVER that has nothing to do with whether or not you like the album? and the list can be endless you don't have to choose only 1 or 3 favs. I am all ears. CURIOSITY. and you could always share ur spotify profile to me 😏😏😏(assuming you use spotify. + as always no pressure to answer + sorry for going anon i got scared)
i listened to Place To Be and it is so beautiful omg, definitely one of my new faves!!!!!! that's going on so many of my playlists and also i'll be listening to SO MUCH of his other stuff now!!!!!! tysm for the recommendation, i love it!!!!!!!!! the lyrics really are beautiful, i feel the exact same way about them and i also am usually not too specific about lyrics ♥️
my music taste is really odd because i don't think there's a single album in the world i could listen to without finding at least one song i like!! i really like old metal and rock, I LOVE Ozzy Osbourne and AC/DC. i also love Mitski, Nirvana, $uicideboys, Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush, Taylor Swift, Madonna, Melanie Martinez, Ashnikko, LANA DEL REY, and there's some country/folk artists i like too. my family was weird but they have good taste in music lol, lately i've been listening to a lot of James Taylor and Neil Young.
right now my favorite SONG is definitely Place To Be (when i find a new song i like to listen to it nonstop for the next week so tysm again for the recommendation!!!) favorite album is complicated, because there are some albums that in CERTAIN moods i can listen to without skipping a single song, but it really always depends on my mood lol.
i don't usually use spotify, unless it's to listen to this playlist i made with my mutuals a while back♥️ but all my friends use it, so it would probably be convenient for me to finally make the switch and if i do i'll drop the link!!!
(being shy and going anon is totally valid btw♥️♥️♥️♥️ thank you so much for the ask and the good music!!!!)

Since you seem to be in the mood to talk about music, what are some other female artists you like (besides Taylor and Mitski and Lana and Lorde and Maisie since you've already talked about liking them recently)
oooh thank you Iove this question!! so some others I enjoy are: marina (I finally saw her live last year after having been a fan since I heard my friend playing bubblegum bitch on her phone when we were 16), St Vincent (masseduction is like...unreal, such a good album) rihanna (I did not like that song she did for black panther though so basically it's been a total drought since 2018), Allie X (haven't heard her albums front to back which is the case with many of these artists but the standout tracks are SO fucking good), avril lavigne (that one goes even further back than marina, I was obsessed with her when I was 11), hole/courtney love, rina sawayama, paramore, ABBA if that counts since they're half female and the women are the vocals (god. who doesnt love abba, basically goes without saying), Carly Rae Jepsen (cut to the feeling loml) Chloe moriondo (bodybag was my most listened to song in 2021 it's my hannigram anthem), the cranberries, halestorm, misterwives (men r in the band but the singer and main songwriter is female), Fleetwood Mac/stevie nicks (duh! An icon), fiona apple, amy winehouse, grimes (art angels is the only album I rly listen to by her but it's a great one), Hayley kiyoko, Annie Lenox, Billie eilish, beach bunny, lady gaga (alejandro still her best song so tru), gwen stefani but particularly her old band No Doubt, kesha's old stuff is super nostalgic for me, britney has many certified bops, Katy Perry has made some of my fave pop songs of all time, Beyonce of course.... I listen to the hits of the 2000s pop girls since I grew up w/those songs. Then of course theres Red velvet (saw them live it was so fun, they're my favorite kpop group, I don't keep up w/kpop much but I love rv still)

You can fight me. Everyone in the music industry knows Miles Kane is a scrounger and would have never been there where he is without Alex. Dude has no talent otherwise he would have gotten there on his own. How much did his last albums make? Only some Milex shippers put in their fantasies and listened to it. That's why he baits them so much it's the only fan group he has to get some money. He can't sing nor write. Don't come to me with guitar playing many can do that. Miles occupies a place he should never been at in the first place. And you guys just love to push away the assault stories that came out about him. Which is gross and not understandable at all. But the truth will come out anyway. You can hate me now and insult me fight me off, ignore and delete this ask nothing would cause more damage than you guys just supporting a man whose status is clear personally and professionally but you guys just ignore it for your fantasies. I hope in the future you all will get to your senses and this will stop once and for all. 🧡 I know it's partly also Alex's fault.
lmao are you aware of the fact that he's literally your fave's fave? he's collaborated with not only alex/am (who i'm assuming you're a fan of, which i'll get back to in a sec), but also with muse/matt bellamy, lana del rey, the gallagher brothers, and the list could go on? are you aware of the fact that all those very talented musicians would have never even looked at him TWICE if he lacked talent like you're so adamantly stating - and let me just add: on anon, on a random tumblr blog, using a lot of words to say absolutely nothing? where are your facts, babe? why are you wasting your time, my time, everyone who's reading time, to prove... what, exactly? you're not gonna convince anyone of anything. miles isn't gonna read any of this. what are you doing here.
but let's go back to me assuming you're an am/tlsp fan. are you aware of the fact that if miles had absolutely zero talent like you claim, it's safe to say many am tracks (to name just a few: 505, the fwn b-sides), songs i'm assuming you enjoy, wouldn't be the same? sure, they'd still sound great because it's alex/am's doing, but miles did take part in the recording process. he literally has credits on fwn.
do you think if alex thought he had no talent he'd even allow him to get close to his precious work? he would never. miles is his best friend along with the monkeys, but he would've never collaborated with him if he didn't recognize his talent.
and lastly, are you aware of the fact that if miles had no talent like you say, tlsp would literally not exist? it's a duo project. they've worked together, miles and alex as equals, to create taotu and then eycte. absolute masterpieces. if it weren't for the two of them working together, none of those songs would exist.
again, alex (a very, very, very talented musician like the ones i mentioned above) recognizes miles' talent. some random anon on tumblr dot com doesn't. oh well.

Rules : 🎶 when you get this, list 5 (or 10) songs you’ve been listening to & tag 5-10 people. Explanations for why or not!!
I was tagged by @peligrosapop !! Tysm!! also ur Spotify preview link idea was genius so I am stealing it 😁
^^ this song was unreleased for SOOOO long and it was one of my faves ever. I literally remember finding someone who made a podcast of the song so I could add it to my Spotify playlist. Idk. The words really resonated with me and Zayn just has such a soothing voice 🫶🏼
^^ okay context. I just re-added this to my playlist for nostalgia purposes. I was IN LOVE with Justin Bieber. I have that Bieber fever yk. And him in this MV. BIZZLE BIEBER?? Lordy he was so fine. Anyways that’s why this song is fun for me 🤗
^^ idk this style was so different for SZA and it just made me feel nostalgic? Not for her specifically but just the way the music sounded in general. Idk I like it haha
^^ if you want to cry, this song is a MUST
^^ this song always makes me feel like a baddie when listening to it sooo.
^^ whatever ms swift injected into this song? im addicted!! this song just does something to my soul i love love loveeee it
^^ don’t even get me STARTED on chase Atlantic. Literally obsessed with every song on this album but I decided to choose this one 😋
^^ I remember seeing this girl just play this song on her ukulele on Tik tok before it blew up and she professionally produced it. It’s really so sweet and such a healthy view on relationships. Makes me feel all fuzzy
^^ I cannot help but jam tf out when this song plays. My shit fr fr
^^ Lana is my GIRL. Ugh this song is just so good and airy I’m obsessed.
Okay that’s 10!! I love sharing my music! I feel like a lot of my moots just something similar to this (myself included), so if anyone wants to simply reshape without it being random then feel free! (and if u saw this and wanted to tag me 💛💛)

21 & 25 from the songs ask game!
Hey! There's one more 😁
21: Songs that make me think of my favorite books
So I did this a while ago with Taylor Swift songs, but I actually listen to a lot of Lana del Rey almost exclusively because so many of her songs remind me of books/writers, particularly early 20th century. So here's a bunch of Lana del Rey songs.
"Cinnamon Girl" makes me think of just. All the literary girls. "If you hold me without hurting me, you'll be the first who ever did" is a good line, and a pretty common character beat for sad women in literature (my beloveds)
"National Anthem" for roughly 2/3 of F. Scott Fitzgerald's work
"The Other Woman" is like Cinnamon Girl in that it applies to a number of my faves.
I already shared this one, but "How to disappear" for The Portrait of a Lady
"God Knows I Tried" for The House of Mirth
"Money Power Glory" for Becky Sharpe (my beloved)
"This Is What Make Us Girls" for Eve Babitz's work
"Happiness is a butterfly" is a Scarlett O'Hara song (MY BELOVED!)
"Change" for The Bostonians
"13 Beaches" for The Age of Innocence
Oh goodness there are so many more. I listen to Lana del Rey for the weird literary connections and the California settings and I could probably crank out a thousand words on any one of these.
25: Songs that I kill for a chance to perform ("Choral Bucket List" playlist)
Bob Chilcott's Shakespeare sequence: "Ophelia," "Caliban," and "Miranda"
Shape note singing! I'd love to try performing in that tradition in basically any context
Verdi's Requiem. It's so extra and bombastic and exactly what you'd expect from him
Hymn of the Cherubim!!!!!!!
I'd love to sing in the chorus for basically any oratorio. It's been on my bucket list since 7th grade. I've dipped my toe in (HS choir did selections from The Messiah every year; featured in a production of Elijah but only for "Lift Thine Eyes"), but I desperately want to sing one in its entirety. Obviously The Messiah is the favorite, but Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Israel in Egypt, Elijah, and Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex would all absolutely rule.
Bonus! Number one on my list of soli that are totally in my wheelhouse but that I haven't had the chance to perform: gotta be "Jerusalem," gang (though obviously I do not sound like Katherine Jenkins)

MIDNIGHTS REVIEW - song impressions
By Hannah
Lavender Haze - LOVE! Great intro track.
Maroon - gorgeous
Anti-Hero - duh. Very fun. A classic single (that wasn’t even a single)
Snow on the Beach - very pretty and ethereal like Lana but so disappointed that she didn’t have a verse. I can’t even hear her in the background 😭 I wanted a Nothing New type song with her.
You’re on your own kid - great bridge
Vigilante Shit needed a more intense bridge. It all stays on one level and kinda disappoints
Bejeweled is so shimmery and fun! Very 1989 vibes
Love her voice in Labyrinth. Techno vibes.
KARMA! Finally a song where the music is more than just in the background! Can’t help but dance to this one. Love.
Sweet Nothing. I want to squeeze it it’s so cute!! “It’s nice to have a friend”’s sister. My underrated fave. 🥰
Mastermind. I like the lyrics. Good chorus.
Great War - Good beat on the chorus
Bigger Than The Whole Sky - Lover vibes. Sounds like lost love. Beautiful. What’s up with the chorus saying “could’ve would’ve should’ve” and then 4 songs later there’s a song titled that?
Paris. Sweet and cute lyrics.
High Fidelity kept sounding like some of her other songs to me at times! Still like it though. “You know there’s many different ways to kill the one you love. Slowest way is not loving them enough” ugh. Classic tragic Taylor lyrics. Love.
Glitch. It’s okay. Could live without it.
Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve. I like the music in this one - rhythm reminds me of Folklore. Tragic lyrics.
Dear Reader. Good. Nothing to “write” home about 😜😜 get it?
8.5/10

Midnights Thoughts!!!
Okay y’all I’m dropping my first thoughts on midnights below. Let’s chat about the album!
Overall, I love it, I love it, I love it! Very lyric styles of folklore and evermore meets the sounds of Lover and Rep!
Lavender Haze:
-Okay this is the pop music standard

-we are back in bridge city
Maroon:
-sick New York reference
-bopping chorus
-“so scarlet it was maroon” very Wanda
-“carnations you thought were roses, that’s us” JESUS CHRIST
-scarlet lips seems a lil fruity

-“I’m the problem, it’s me” ☹️
-“I wake up screaming from dreaming”
-it is definitely exhausting being the anti-hero
-it’s giving Natasha
Snow On The Beach:
-the beginning of this song is like when you aren’t sure if you really saw someone or you just wanted to see someone so your brain told you that you did
-“stars by the pocketful” is actually so cute
-lyrically brilliant
-where’s Lana though?
-the key change is good
You’re On Your Own, Kid:

-reminds me of my friends and how I love them so much and how we have each other even as time changes
-“just to find my dreams aren’t rare” SHUT UP TAYLOR
-“pages turned with bridges burned” end of rep vibes
-very big sister energy
Midnight Rain:
-the beginning is wild
-lyrically I enjoy it
-very true of thinking of someone after a long time
-could make a good fic
Question…?:
-“a color I’ve searched for since” very illicit affairs like
-she says “her” a lot
-upbeat but sad
-“did you wish you put up more of a fight?”
-bridge city
Vigilante Shit:
-great vibes
-definitely the revenge she spoke of
-the girl from mad woman
-girl power anthem
-“don’t get sad, get even” tattoo this on my forehead

-one of my faves
Labyrinth:
-I cried a lot
-the breathing instructions, thank you Dr. Swift

-crying, shaking, throwing up
-Natasha Romanoff’s song
Karma:
-vibes
-lol spider boy reference
-“karma is my boyfriend” so true
-the voice layering is cute

-Joe!!!!!
-this is what love sounds like idc
-please someone love me like this
Mastermind:
-absolute banger
-get what you want bestie
-“I’m the wind in our free flowing sails”
-this song feels like the end of a movie when everyone comes home after a long day
Omg plus new tracks!
The Great War:
-okay the drums rock
-I like it and processing it is a lot with this chaotic surprise lol
-“I vow I will always be yours” cute!!!
Bigger Than The Whole Sky:
-“every single thing I touch becomes sick with sadness” SAD but good fic material

-I am a shell of a woman
Paris:
-funky fresh
-“draw a map on your bedroom ceiling” adorable!
-I love love
High Infidelity:
-great rhythm
-“the slowest way is never loving them enough” ouchie
-feels regretful yet unapologetic
Glitch:
-sounds like a rain stick lol
-interesting vibes
Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve:
-intro has similar sound to Mary Jane’s Last Dance
-“the gods honest truth is that the pain was heaven”
-Taylor don’t be shy and release the rock and roll version please
-“I regret you all the time”
-“god rest my soul, I miss who I used to be” GOOD GRIEF
Dear Reader:
-younger me needed this
-her whole heart is in it
-advice for Nothing New stans

album review; kate bush's hounds of love (1985)
♡ fav song: cloudbusting
♡ least fave song: my lagan love
♡ overall: 8.4/10
Song By Song Review Under the Cut
Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) -> 12/10 Obviously… Do I have to say anything else?
Hounds of Love -> 10/10 Kate’s voice in this track is absolutely gorgeous.
The Big Sky -> 10/10 This song is so sweet… It makes me wanna get up and dance!
Mother Stands for Comfort -> 7/10 It was very interesting, and very haunting. I downloaded this track to my personal playlist.
Cloudbusting -> 15/10 Probably my favorite Kate Bush track, period.
And Dream of Sheep -> 8/10 Haunting in a 2013 Tumblr, Lana Del Rey, Arctic Monkeys type of way.
Under the Ice -> 10/10 Frozen if it slayed. I downloaded this track to my personal playlist.
Waking the Witch -> 3/10 Scary! I literally jumped!!
Watching You Without Me -> 12/10 The instrumental felt like a mix between a Legend of Zelda scene and a George Harrison track… so I absolutely loved it. I also downloaded this one!

Hello Earth -> 6/10 A little too haunting for my tastes.
The Morning Fog -> 5/10 Cute! But forgettable.

Under the Ivy -> 7/10 <3
Burning Bridge -> 8/10 It makes me wanna get up and start marching! I downloaded this track onto my personal playlist, too!
