Who in Naruto would stand on business and not text their ex or situationship back and who actually would
ABSOLUTELY texting their ex:
Naruto, which is canon, I think. I've little knowledge of Boruto, but I'm pretty sure he and Sasuke exchange carrier pigeons, like, all the time. Naruto would text an ex without any prompting, let alone texting them back.
Sakura has shockingly little self-esteem or respect or dignity when it comes to romance, and she's more than willing to entertain anyone interested in her who isn't a total uggo (re: Rock Lee and any other not-conventionally attractive suitor).
Deidara has no concept of boundaries or closure. He thinks he can just keep sending a stream of consciousness. If his ex ever texts him first, he's going to town on the diary entries sort of texts. He's opening his notes app and copying and pasting all the weird poetry he's been writing since the break up.
Sasuke, but ONLY if it's Naruto.
Kakashi wouldn't text an ex back, but if he got a text, he'd show up in person and just...see what happens.
Choji wouldn't know how to not text back, because he'd feel mean, given their shared history. It's anyone's guess as to whether or not he still has romantic intentions.
Rock Lee is texting back with pleasure. A splendid new friend out of the ruins of romance has emerged!
Hashirama and Madara. Just...just look at them.
Jiraiya, in hopes of a booty call coming out of it.
Tempted, but should pull through:
Ino would love to text back just for the drama, but has a healthy amount of self-respect. If there's no reason to reconcile, there's no reason for her to talk, she can sadly admit.
Hinata would, ordinarily, want to text back, but she might just get too stressed and her teammates could find her in time to rebuke the ex's efforts.
Similarly, Itachi has poetry at the ready to send through, but Kisame might just eat his phone to prevent the Young Adult Meltdown that would ensue.
Hidan, if his feeling are well and truly hurt enough, wouldn't text back. But...well, he might show up to their location and give Jashin a real good day.
Kurenai went years without Asuma showing his face, whilst he was running around defying his father, so she should be fine ignoring the siren song of an ex text. But then...
Oh, Neji has paragraphs upon paragraphs to send living right there in his notes app, but he shan't. He won't. He'll just send them rancid vibes whenever they encounter one another in public for life.
Not texting back:
Shikamaru hasn't the energy to entertain this. Things ended for a reason, and he shan't make himself miserable doing a back and forth in the aftermath. Blocked.
Kiba's sister won't let him text his exes back. She blocks them on his phone as soon as the break up happens. Kiba has no idea they tried to reach out.
Asuma has no interest in texting unless it's for a booty call.
Gaara is too afraid of his wounded pride unleashing the monster within, so he doesn't entertain highly emotional interactions like this.
Kakuzu is straight up tracing the text back to his ex and turning them in for bounty, no matter how meager it is.
Shino agonizes over it, but he prevails.
Tenten talks it over with Neji, who just beats up her ex for her instead.
Genma has deleted their number as soon as they stopped hooking up. Who dis?

I love the Naruto World so much that I wish I was in it, I want to be a female Senju princess who's a god child to Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki.
I'll love to be the last child of Tsunade Senju and Jiraiya Ogata, be the Sixth Hokage after saving the Leaf with Naruto Uzumaki, and is the main romantic interest of Sasuke Uchiha, a former student of Orochimaru Yashagoro.
I want Naruto to have a sibling, so I chose Deidara cause Uchiha Clan heirs tend to be rivals with Uzumaki Clan members and I don't to replace Hanabi for somebody else, so Hinata got a big sister now...how about Yume for the name...yes.
My name should be Misako, have a big sister named Akira who's the main romantic interest of Itachi Uchiha, and is the Chosen One with elemental bending powers as the Light Avatar who must destroy the Dark Persona.
I shipped myself with Sasuke, NaruHina for life, NejiTen, ShikaTema, SaiIno, KibaTama, ShiShi, ChoKaru, LeeAma, KankuAka, SoraKae, GaaMatsu, AsuKure, KakaHana, JiraTsuna, MinaKushi, Orochimaru X OFC, Itachi X OC, MY AU!Deidara X OFC!Hinata's Big Sister, ToneShion, IruAya, SuiKari, Sakura X OMC, GaiKao, KoteAnko, KabuGure, HayaYuga, IzuShizu, YamaYuki, ObiRin, Rin and Obito will be still alive, my dad's not gonna die too, Asuma deserves to live for his daughter, Neji stays living, etc.
There's ten tailed beasts from zero to nine; Satori the Reibi, Shukaku the Ichibi, Matatabi the Nibi, Isobu the Sanbi, Son Goku the Yonbi, Kokuo the Gobi, Saiken the Rokubi, Chomei the Nanabi, Gyuki the Hachibi, and Kurama the Kyuubi.
I want Team 02 [Yoruha - Hikaru, Nayumi, Migaku & Sakura], 03 [Gai - Neji, Tenten, Lee & Kaede], 07 [Kakashi - Naruto, Misako, Sasuke & Hinata], 08 [Kurenai - Kiba, Tamaki, Shino & Shiho], and 10 [Asuma - Choji, Ino, Shikamaru & Akane].
Sakura need to be shipped with somebody else rather than Sasuke, she was falling for him and broke her friendship with Ino for his heart.
If I was her, I'll choose my friend over my crush and keep my bond.
Misako got three childhood friends; Naruto, Hinata, and Sasuke...it's that clear and simple.
Misa doesn't like fan boys at all like Sasuke don't like fan girls, they're from enemy clans and are best friends who's secretly betrothed to each other as a way to form peace to both family trees.
Watching all episodes and movies, I've learned many shocking plots and twists throughout my childhood.
Itachi's an amazing big brother, I wish Naruto has a brother and I gave him one...named Deidara rather than Menma cause I see that alternative future son of our ramen lover if he was married to Sasuke.
I want Naruto to have his first kiss with Hinata, which leads to this scenario...what if Misako was between both him and Sasuke during the episode where they were finding out their teams.
Misako will kiss Sasuke...again, here's the catch, they shared their first kiss at a young age cause they liked each other and can see their futures as a badass power couple.
Itachi had already predicted that his little brother was in love with Misako...like he was with Akira, Akira will prevent Itachi's death and tell Sasuke the real truth herself with her baby sister by her side.
I've read a fanfiction on Wattpad that has an original female character portraying as Nezuko Kamado, her name was Misa, I loved it and saw the major changes they've done...it was glorious...shout-out to the author.
I know one way to make Sasuke feel overprotective to Misako like she's understanding with him, I've made three characters we know as original characters named Hikaru, Nayumi, and Migaku.
Hikaru will portray from Toneri or Seimei, Nayumi will depict from Shion or Sawaii, and Migaku...I got something for him...Yoichi or Ren.
Misako and Akira, two sisters with their father's white hair, their mother's brown eyes, their father's red markings, and their mother's beautiful looks and gorgeous figure...I got their character portrayals...Heinrich Prinz (Akira) & Eugen Prinz (Misako).
Indra & Asura was in love with the Kishimoto Sisters named...Luna & Kira...
Kira will be the light that guides Asura to the Sun and into the Spirit World for a bright star.
Luna will be the shadow that escorts Indra to the Moon and get him away from the Phantom Zone for a dark cloud.
The sacred ancestry continues to Madara Uchiha's lover and Hashirama Senju's wife...Mito Uzumaki & Himiko Hyuga.
Years have passed, I want Misa to become the Light Avatar since the Dark Persona was her complete polar opposite...they're destined lovers.
I honestly want Misa to have two sons and daughters; Daisuke (OMC: Haruto Uchiha), Mikoto (OFC: Amara Senju), Yuta (OMC: Isamu Senju), and Sayuri (OFC: Kiyomi Uchiha).
I'm giving Naruto another son and daughter; Menma (OMC: Soha Uzumaki) & China (OFC: Naruko Uzumaki).
If you're confused with the names of the following OCs I've planted, search for their names on Google to get some clarification...it took me a few tries and I've finished.
Comment down below, reblog, anything you wanna do...go for it.
Do not report me, this is just my ideas...something I wanna do for my fanfics in the future.
Sayonara guys...believe it!
Also...who will win between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso?
If nobody wins and unexpected twists happen, who will return?
What if Damian Priest changes his mind and cash in on Roman, if not...on whoever wins between Seth and Finn?
Who will beat Dominik's ass and strip him from his title?
Will Santos dethrone Theory?
Can Ricochet take down a jackass?
Will Gunther stay undisputed?
Who will be Rhea's opponent?
Who will walk out as Women's Undisputed Champion?
Will Iyo win or lose her chance?
Will Shotzi get revenge on Bayley?
Can LA Knight conquer the Battle Royal?
Will Shayna kick this transphobic bitch's ass out of wrestling for good?
Will Solo join his brother?
Will Cody end Lesnar?
All these questions and more will be confirmed tomorrow night at Detroit...watch Peacock now, get your tickets, and get ready cause it's ride or die this year on 2023.
Let this tribal combat...commence.

📝 Do you have any snippets from the “Not Your Dog” that you’re willing to share? Or team Gai shenanigans?
You bet I do!!! 💕 This scene takes place right when Tenten wakes up after the chuunin exams.
In the corner of the room, someone sniffles quietly. Tenten rolls over as best she can to see who it is.
“Neji?”
His eyes (puffy, red-rimmed…has he been crying?) flick over to her for barely a second before he averts them, pretending like she isn’t there. A bruise here, a scrape there, but nothing out of the ordinary, so he’s not hurt, but...
“What’s wrong?”
He acts like he doesn’t hear her, but she knows he did; Neji’s lip quivers as he hugs his knees a little tighter to his chest, still refusing to look at her.
“Did you…win your fight?”
He scoffs, bites at his thumbnail, sharply nods once.
That’s good. At least one of them will be progressing.
“Who’d you get?”
A tiny, shuddering sob escapes him in spite of the vicious expression that spreads over his face, and Tenten knows. “Oh, Neji…”
“Don’t,” he growls, looking murderous – an effect that is quickly undercut by the fresh tears that threaten to tumble down his cheeks – but Gai-sensei enters the room and Neji is instantly cowed.
“Tenten, you’re awake!” cries Gai-sensei. “You fought admirably. Even though you will not advance, I am deeply proud of your performance.”
There’s another message in there, one that’s not for her.
“Thank you, sensei,” she replies.
Something must have gone very, very wrong. Gai-sensei is so rarely disappointed in the three of them, but he looks as close to it as he could possibly get as he considers her teammate. Neji curls up on himself and stares intently at a random point on the floor, like he wishes it would open up and swallow him whole. Tenten notices that Gai-sensei’s eyes are puffy, too, though not as bad as Neji’s, and Lee should have followed him into her room, but he didn’t, and…actually, why weren’t they both sitting here with Neji, anyway?
Tenten sits up quickly; the motion sends a jolt of pain up her back so bad that she winces.
“Don’t over-exert yourself,” Gai-sensei commands. There’s a sharp note of worry in his voice that Tenten has never heard before.
Something is very wrong indeed.
“What happened to Lee?” she asks fiercely.

my sweet boy. my precious boy. please. personal space...boundaries!
#my art#naruto#rock lee#neji hyūga#kate asked what the question was that rock lee wanted to ask. and its just a question about nejis preformance earlier that day#hes been a little bit crankey and a little bit off and like any good rival rock lee is checking in.#thats also why he moved his sleeping mat so close. two questions answered at once! the efficiency of team gai is unmatched#tentens mat is a normal distance away and shes like ''how i sleep not having a weird intense rivalry'' [image of ninja asleep in clouds]#shes got a normal friendship with rock lee and a close friendship with neji#and half of her class are engaged in all these crazy intense competitive friendships#meanwhile she and choji and shikamaru and team 8 are like. what if we just didnt do that#of course neji cant actually answer rock lees question bc if he does rock lee will keep talking to him for another half hour before#gai sensei from across the camp will be like ''all RIGHT i know you kids have the vigorous power of YOUTH keeping you up—''#''but a good night's rest is of PEAK importance ESPECIALLY on a mission!'' and rock lee will be like OH NO! YOURE RIGHT SENSEI!#and then his head will hit the folded up backpack hes using for a pillow and he will be out in minutes.#and neji will look over at tenten to see if she can share a knowing look with him about their two crazy teammates#but like he also wont move away from rock lee. even though as kate pointed out. rock lee had no inside voice and was way up in his grill#its bc they care about each other and every once and a while sharing sleep mats with ur friends is fun#sometimes tenten lee and neji all have their mats close together and then gai cries a little cause his kids get along so well#and hes so proud and happy to have such sweet and good and talented kids...#this is a lot of tags sorry i start thinking about team gai and i go insane its like thinking about yamato

KONOHA ELEVEN IN A ZOOM CLASS!
FEATURING: naruto, sakura, shikamaru, ino, choji, hinata, kiba, shino, neji, rock lee, and tenten
WARNINGS: mentions of food
Tumblr media
NARUTO
definitely has forgotten that he was unmuted multiple times
or his camera was accidentally turned on
you could just see him sprawled on his bed with a bowl of instant ramen on his lap and a blanket wrapped around himself
EARRAPE SLURPS!! rip headphone users.
sometimes he notices that his camera’s turned on and you can see him freak out and scramble to turn it off
but he accidentally unmutes himself too and so you just hear panicked yelling
his device topples to the floor with a loud crash and he screams so loud istg
the next thing you see is naruto’s face hovering over the camera in fear just before his camera turns off and he’s muted again
the teacher is so confused?? naruto should i call an ambulance
but when he’s not eating in class, he’s sleeping in class
too busy sleeping to leave the zoom at the end of class so he’s always the last one left in the meeting besides the teacher
always asks sakura what happened during the zoom and she is FED UP
SAKURA
enters the waiting room 15 minutes before class is actually supposed to begin
spends the next 15 minutes rearranging her work area, making sure she’s prepared for the day
sits properly at her desk with her hair smoothed down and her face positioned perfectly in frame
if no one else has their camera on, she’s the only one with it on
seriously, she ALWAYS HAS IT ON
and she never leaves the screen somehow
diligently takes notes, uses the “raise hand” feature every two minutes to ask a question
sometimes it can get a bit annoying, even for the teacher
but she almost always gets perfect marks
acts like in angel in class, but after class... no promises, naruto!
SHIKAMARU
this man can barely stay awake during missions, so during a zoom? HECK NAH
shikamaru is literally me,, half asleep during lessons but somehow gets amazing grades
everyone’s either pissed at or envious of him (especially naruto)
obviously does not have his camera on
and rarely ever unmutes
uses the chat feature to answer the teacher’s questions but this man is basically asleep so its so incoherent
“shikamaru, what is a hyperbole?”
in chat: “a hyeprbole is a exsaggerayed phras,e”
teacher definitely thinks he’s cheating on tests
INO
either a) daydreaming about boys or b) checking herself out in the zoom camera OR c) secretly fuming at sakura’s know-it-all behavior
the two girls definitely compete to see who can raise their virtual hand first
"ahem, ahem- sensei? could i answer this question?"
her voice gets all sickly sweet and sakura HATES IT
the two of them totally got caught insulting each other in the private chat
100% the type of student to rewrite her notes after classes with various markers and colored pens and pretty fonts and patterns and whatnot
loves doodling flowers in her notebook during boring lessons!
CHOJI
another strong contender for the Loudest Student award!
not on purpose though, he just forgets that space bar = unmute, and plays some jumping game in another tab (like the no internet dino game!)
also,, rip headphone users
c r o n c h munch munch munch
are you kidding this man's chews are loud enough in person, but with a HEADSET?! hoo boy.
has conked out several times during class
just imagine the name Choji Akimichi with a profile picture of a bag of chips light up with the green box around it with a thunk
the teacher and class is so confused
but then you hear mumbles of "barbeque... chips... barbeque..."
and you realize that the man fell asleep onto his keyboard
he sleeps through the rest of class
HINATA
shy bb has never ONCE turned on her camera
the only time she's ever unmuted was to say "here" during attendance on the first day of school
if the teacher ever takes attendance again, she just uses the raise hand feature
what if naruto-kun thinks my voice is ugly? what if i accidentally turn on my camera? what if the teacher thinks i'm not paying attention? what if-
poor baby is too busy worrying about showing herself on zoom to actually pay attention
actually gets good grades though and her classmates wonder if she’s even there
her zoom pfp is definitely just a purple google “H”
KIBA
has the CUTEST zoom pfp hands down
it’s a selfie of him grinning cheerily with baby akamaru
100% has his camera on the whole time to show off his pup
he loves seeing everyone’s faces on screen melt and aww at the lil big doggo
sometimes akamaru just walks in front of the camera and blocks kiba from view and you just see a massive wall of white fur on screen LMAO
even though kiba’s muted, you can see him and akamaru bickering about who knows what
or even play fighting,, these two get into full on BRAWLS during class
just imagine akamaru shoves kiba into his desk and his camera crashes to the ground overturned so you see the ceiling and the occasional dog tail wagging in the corner
seriously, can the teacher ever catch a break with this class?
the answer is no.
SHINO
his zoom pfp is just a tick.
a singular tick
totally answers questions in chat with proper capitalization and punctuation
shikamaru’s improper answers tick him off
“A hyperbole is an expression that is greatly exaggerated. They are used in order to create emphasis.”
has never unmuted in his life either
he’s so unfazed by everything that goes down in class that it’s funny
if anything the slightest bit RELATED to bugs comes up during class, in 0.00238 seconds this man has an entire essay about them posted in chat, almost like he had it copied and READY to paste
everyone's definitely shocked that there’s actually a human listening behind a tick profile picture
NEJI
a very diligent note taker
seriously, this man writes like a printer; perfectly even handwriting that looks like a font, a million words per minute
everyone asks him for his notes after the zoom because they’re so neat (especially naruto, to neji’s dismay)
he gets excellent grades since he’s so organized and focused
just wishes the zoom would be over so he can work alone in peace
really hates unmuting so he often gives one-word answers in the chat
“Yes” “47” “Present” “Goodbye”
has used a zoom reaction ONCE in his life and he has never wanted to crawl into a hole and perish more
it was a complete accident,, mans was just trying to open the chat to type in his answer, but in a cruel twist of fate he clicked on the 😂 reaction
and he just sat there for ten excruciating seconds in complete and utter shock and shame for ten excruciating seconds as he prayed for it to disappear
tenten would never let him live that down
ROCK LEE
Zoom Reaction Enthusiast
😂😮👍🎉❤️ 24/7
naruto accidentally unmutes himself? 😮
choji falls asleep on his keyboard? 😂
neji answers something correctly? 👍
tenten received the highest score in class? 🎉
akamaru appears on screen? ❤️
unmutes whenever he needs to, but he thinks the little emoticons are so silly and cute
otherwise, he is EXTRA FOCUSED and EXTREMELY DETERMINED to learn all of the things
he’s the first to unmute whenever the teacher asks if the class can see the screen share, hear them correctly, etc.
never takes his eyes off the screen!! he could be missing out on important information
I FEEL LIKE,, i feel like he would totally keep his camera off when he’s muted but whenever he unmutes he would also turn his camera on
so when he says a quick “yes!” his camera turns on but before his camera can adjust properly to the light he mutes and turns his camera back off so his face is just super dark for a split second LMAOOO
tell me im wrong
TENTEN
exasperated by this entire class
thinks her and neji are the only sane ones in the class and it’s true
wants to tell sakura and ino to stop competing and just focus on learning, since they’re the only other girls in the class besides hinata
plus she’s just fed up with all the lazy boys
takes great pride in passing every assignment, test, or exam with flying colors
teachers pet, but the quieter type who stays after every zoom and sends lots of emails regarding assignments and grades and whatnot (unlike sakura and ino who rub it in the teacher’s face)
doesn’t like helping other people besides neji, girl’s got a soft spot for him since they have a mutual respect for each other
but if you’re a handsome prince, maybe she’ll help you out!
Tumblr media
if you enjoyed this post, likes and reblogs are much appreciated :) feel free to request here, and make sure to read the rules first! have a lovely day everyone <3

OKAY SO I HAVE MADE A NARUTO FIX IT
In which everyone leaves the village. Like, literally everyone.
Or: I wanted Gaara and Sasuke to bond over slightly homicidal impulses. I gave them a fucking fix it which includes: woke Naruto, found family, toad sage Sakura, revolution, Taka and some more people including Itachi, Tsunade, Tenzo and someone who might not be as dead as yall thought.
SO:
Orochimaru knows abt the truth of the uchiha massacre. this changes everything. he decides to go with a different plan: plant curse mark on sasuke, kidnap him after the exams, train him (and his sharingan) for a year, take Suna’s jinchuuriki, train em both for a year maybe two, take over sasuke’s body, use Sasuke’s sharingan to gain control of the ichibi, use the ichibi to destroy Konoha.
Chunin exams happen, Sasuke gets his curse mark. Sasuke, Shikamaru, Neji and Tenten make chunin
Sasuke is manipulated / kidnapped → he leaves the village
1 year passes, sasuke trains with Orochimaru in the meantime, during that Shino also makes chunin and also Orochimaru tells Sasuke the truth abt the massacre
Orochimaru kidnaps Gaara. Sasuke and Gaara share like 2 conversations and they kill / flee from Orochimaru
they start travelling together, and become even closer.
during this time Konoha (thus also Naruto and friends) hears word of what happened. Tenten feels more and more distant from Konoha’s ideals. Neji is with her.
Akatsuki also knows abt Orochimaru’s death. Itachi has an existential crisis. Tenten and Neji manage to convince Lee to leave the village. Naruto goes with them.
They try to find (and hopefully team up with) Sasuke and Gaara. it’s been two years at this point. Naruto finally realizes how badly he was treated by the village.
Kakashi and Gai are wondering why the fuck their teams just. left. Sakura stayed ofc, she’s doing missions w team 8 for now. Guy finds a letter left by his team.
Kakashi wants to send out an anbu team (Genma, Yugao, Hayate, Tenzo) to retreive their lost boys. Gai comes at him, smacks him in the face and tells him to WAKE THE FUCK UP. somehow, Kakashi changes his mind. they also leave Konoha, to try to find their students themselves, not to bring em back but to help em and protect em (they’re still like fifteen now, they hardly know how to count to ten). Tenzo finds em and goes with them.
Gaara and Sasuke are doing pretty ok. Their main goal now is to just. survive and make sure no one finds them. Gaara is still pretty insane ofc (he never got the talk no jutsu) but he finds himself feeling calmer more now. Sasuke trains in genjutsu.
they’re all sixteen now and GOD finally have Neji, Naruto, Tenten and Lee found Sasuke and Gaara. they find them in a cave, Sasuke assumes they’re enemies because ofc he would. they talk, and (tho reluctantly on Sasuke and Gaara’s side) team up. Gaara rll rll rll wants to kill them all but doesn’t becos Sasuke knows these people?? his first friend knows these people?? well then they must be at least a bit good????
Neji, Sasuke and Lee spar. a lot. Tenten also joins in sometimes, but doesn’t rll wanna get involved in those boys’ bullshit. Naruto tries to bond with Gaara (mainly over jinchuuriki stuff), and Gaara realizes he doesn’t rll wanna kill these people.
it doesn’t take long for Gai, Kakashi and Tenzo to find the teenagers ofc (two times jinchuuriki chakra is basically a beacon of light). they meet up, and see the state of their students (and a random red haired insane kid??) and they’re just like. yo. let us join your found family.
the akatsuki is still searching for the jinchuuriki, but Itachi lowkey finds out / discovers / theorizes that Sasuke already knows the truth abt him. he sends out one of his crows to make sure, and yes, Sasuke does know, and Itachi leaves the akatsuki.
Itachi travels to find Sasuke’s found family now, comes through a village and finds a very suspicious eyeless beggar sitting on the side of the road. and omg- IS THAT SHISUI-
it is shisui. and yo, guess what, Shisui and Itachi come across the northern hideout and they see Juugo and they’re all like omg we’re taking this child with us. They come across another orochimaru hideout. they beat all the guards, find Suigetsu, and say fuck it we’re adopting this one too. they all get to know each other blah blah and sui and juugo find out their saviors are looking for their younger brother so Suigetsu’s just all like ‘bro what if we just get Karin she’s like a hella good chakra sensor’ and so they do
so now Itachi and Shisui (who got his 1 eye back btw) travel with Taka and well it still takes a while to find Sasuke cuz Karin’s never rll sensed him before yk and they wind up in a village and they sense this amazingly huge powerful chakra and suddenly one of the  fucking sannin is standing before them.
Tsunade stops them (she sees S rank Itachi Uchiha, ofc she does), but when she hears abt the truth and what they’re all doing she’s just like ‘sure i’ll come’
during ALL of this Jiraiya is low key dying inside. like  e v e r y o n e  is leaving so he takes Sakura and teaches her jutsu and shit. Sakura is also going thru a crisis, but she has Ino and she has Jiraiya and rll all she’s thinking rn is fuck it i’m bringing them ALL back, even Kakashi-sensei and Gai-sensei.
back to the Sasuke fam everything’s going good. sasuke teaches kakashi how to properly handle a jinchuuriki using their sharingan, gai continues training pretty much everyone, Sasuke tells em all abt the massacre. they all low key say ‘yo we kinda need to revolution a bit ngl’
Itachi and fam FINALLY find sasuke. they all meet up (that’s Sasuke, Gaara, Naruto, Tenten, Lee, Neji, Kakashi, Gai, Tenzo & Itachi, Shisui, Suigetsu, Juugo, Karin, Tsunade, Shizune.) it’s pretty emotional but GOD they’ve got so much manpower they could actually do the revolution bit now.
and meanwhile Sakura’s all gettin powerful and shit and she’s trying to find- well, everyone but the Akatsuki is still going around and well they did lose one of their most powerful members just now: Itachi left, and Hidan and Kakuzu died the same way they did last time (Ino-Shika-Cho trio is still in Konoha, just instead of Kakashi Sakura went with them to help them get revenge)
Hinata is not doing great, especially with the Hyuuga being angry that their prodigy has left, but sadly they can’t acivate the seal (somehow)
reason why they can’t activate the seal: Kakashi, Tsunade, Shisui and Itachi are all hella smart. they have already long taken care of it.
gaara and Naruto are doing more jinchuuriki training, Sasuke helps them and kakashi and Tenzo do too. Tenten is learning taijutsu from tsunade with Karin, Neji learns medical jutsu (shizune helps ofc). Suigetsu learns more sword fighting from shisui, Juugo and Itachi and Shisui all bond over birds.
Gaara realizes…. maybe he doesn’t need to kill people to feel a reason to live anymore. he has a family now; a real one, and he loves Sasuke and he loves Naruto and he loves Lee and Neji and he does meditation with Juugo and he feels alright.
Pain still comes to Konoha, really more to find out about Naruto’s whereabouts than to like… do something. Jiraiya, Sandaime, Sakura, Ino-Shika-Cho, Hinata, Kiba, Shino, Kurenai, Hayate, Genma, all the other anbu and chunin and jonin, all help fight Pain, and they win in the end. Jiraiya and the Sandaime both die.
And that… sort of activates something in missing nin fam. Danzo is left in charge, and well, everyone is not fucking a-okay with it so ya know what time it is
they organize a revolution. During this time, Sasori, Deidara, Hidan, Kakuzu, Pain, Konan, and Orochimaru are already dead; Zetsu and kaguya just don't exist (because I said so) so before they plan their attack on Konoha, Gai and Kakashi set out to defeat the last members of the Akatsuki; Kisame and Tobi.
well it’s pretty obvious who fights who. With Kakashi’s new mindset, and mastery of Kamui and training with his sharingan, eventually he wins the fight. Gai defeats Kisame, almost with ease because Kisame doesn’t really have any reason left to fight anyway. Kakashi takes off Tobi’s mask.
you know how that goes. He suddenly sees his (dead) best friend’s face on the guy he just murdered and GOD he is not okay. Gai comforts him, tries to get him back to his right mind. Kakashi had been healing anyway, especially with his new family, so eventually he does get over it, but just… it's a shock. a very, very heavy one.
they plan their revolution carefully. what they need to do is these things;
Send Tsunade back to the village and let her take the role as Hokage before Danzo can.
Sasuke, Itachi, Shisui, Kakashi will take care of Danzo. Danzo was never a rll well known person in Konoha anyway, so ppl don't rll notice it when he's gone (at least not civilians and normal shinobi)
Tsunade clears everyone (the whole found fam. At least the ones from Konoha: Karin, Suigetsu, Juugo, Gaara are out of her hands, but they still find refuge in Konoha)
Naruto and Team Guy go to Ino-Shika-Cho to convince them to join their revolution. Ino is in. Choji says "hmm okay sure" Shikamaru is lowkey a nationalist in the Manga, so it takes a bit more for him to switch sides, especially after Asuma's death, but eventually he caves in.
Sakura is fucking depressed and when she finds out her team is back, she is angry. (she should be. They all left her without saying anything, her master just died, the whole village is counting on her now. She has every single right to be angry) it takes Ino, Naruto, Sasuke (who doesn't rll care but he still respects Sakura as a former teammate) and Kakashi to just. Talk.
And they talk abt everything. A very long, very overdue talk that is very much necessary.
The village elders suspiciously die of food poisoning right around that time. During the interrogation, a pale guy who says his name is Sai won't say anything, even when the poison is found in his quarters. Sasuke is there during the interrogation, and he looks at Sai's obvious fake smile and he thinks omg I've found a new bestie lemme introduce you to my other two besties Gaara and Naruto-
Ino takes control of T&I. Shikamaru and Sasuke take control of Hokage advisor positioning. Kakashi, Tenzo, Itachi and Shisui all disband ROOT. Snakes of ink suspiciously leave important classified documents near the Hokage's office that had been kept hidden before.
Neji takes control of the hospital with Shizune. He also confronts the Hyuuga clan, and with the help of Tenten, Lee, Guy, and Hinata (who'd joined the revolution, and apologized to Neji for ignoring the situation and her privilege) he gets the Hokage to ban all kinds of forced labor.
It is Ino, Sakura and Gaara who spread the truth of the Uchiha clan. Civilians are shocked, shinobi are even more shocked, clan heads can't fucking believe it. Sasuke, Itachi and Shisui rebuild the Uchiha compound (and place a little grave for Obito with Kakashi)
It takes years for everything to cool down. Tsunade tries to do everything in her power to disband the shinobi system bit by bit
In the end it's when Kakashi becomes Hokage the real changes happen. Kakashi creates a new schooling and ranking system, and it looks like this:
The academy is open to anyone. You learn things like medical jutsu, history, culture, transportations and sealing techniques, and chakra control. No harmful jutsu. None. The kids aren't taught how to perfectly throw a kunai through someone's head. They aren't taught how to bury someone alive. They aren't taught how to slice someone's throat in seconds.
Once you graduate from the academy, you become genin. This includes harmless missions, with no fighting or killing. Transportation, errands, so only D rank or C rank.
From there, you can decide to work as civilian or in places like the hospital, or you can decide to take the chunin exams WHEN YOU TURN 18. THAT'S RIGHT. YOU CAN ONLY BECOME CHUNIN WHEN YOU'RE OF AGE. No killing unless you're an adult. No violence unless you're an adult.
All the old bags who could object to this new system are already dead. Haha.
Gaara gets a letter about 4 years after the revolution (he's twenty now). It says: Gaara pls we heard you were alive and Temari and I don't wanna be Kazekage but dad died three days ago and you're the only one who can rule the village now also I hope you're not still insane and killing anyone to feel alive haha pls come back
So he comes back. And becomes Kazekage. And installs the same shinobi system as there is in Konoha. And he creates and alliance with Konoha.
And well. Sasuke wants to live with Itachi and Shisui in the Uchiha compound, he does, but. He misses the world. And he hasn't felt at home in Konoha since he was 7, even if it is so much better now. So. He becomes Shadow Hokage. And sort of ambassador of Konoha and Suna. But rll he just travels and visits Taka's new hideout and does outside missions to make sure Konoha doesn't go broke and maybe he works too hard but he lives and he's happy.
Naruto becomes Hokage when he's twenty six. He misses Sasuke, but now that he's Hokage he can give the official order to make Sasuke check in (in person) once every two weeks. And that's the first thing he does as Hokage.
Sakura becomes Hokage advisor with Shikamaru. Kakashi finally steps down, and practically launches the hat at Naruto, throws on a kimono and takes Guy and takes a bag and. Leaves. And he spends the rest of his days in the hot springs.
Lee gets a chunin team he trains. Kiba and Shino do too.
Tenten handles any chunin exams.
Neji is doing great at the hospital, and he has several students teaches.
Hinata is Hyuuga clan head.  She disbands the rules of main and branch family, and she makes sure everyone is treated equally.
Itachi and Shisui are just chilling in the Uchiha district. They write to Sasuke every two days. They feed their crows, and they plant tomatoes, and they know they're at peace.
Tenzo and Sai also do outside missions, and they often team up with Sasuke. Naruto calls them the Shadow Squad.
Iruka still teaches at the academy. He's moved in with Naruto, because Sasuke couldn't, and Kakashi couldn't, and so what maybe he wants to yell "welcome home" at his son
Taka is doing fantastic. Sasuke found a random kid on the side of the road and dropped it off at the Taka hideout with a "idk how to take care of these but I'm sure yall will figure it out" and that's how Mitsuki gets adopted.
Tsunade is doing whatever the hell she wants. Shizune too.
There is only one wedding ever. It's Ino and Sakura's. They adopt two cute kids called Inojin and Sarada and they love them, so much.
(there is one more wedding. It's between Sasuke and Gaara and it's purely so that Sasuke doesn't have to pay Konoha taxes. Only Gaara, Sasuke, Itachi, Juugo and Tsunade know.)
And they're all happy. They're all okay. The world is far from perfect, but it's better than it was before, and they'll keep working untill they're satisfied.

Hey, really liked your analysis of Hinata. I feel almost the same way about her. Even though generally I dislike female characters who are naturally meek, subservient and pointless with no character arc in any type of media, what made me absolutely hate her character was how she treated Neji. If Kishi wanted to show her arc being developed organically, instead of proposing to Naruto that removes her stuttering and gives her new found confidence (because girls only get confident when proposing to guys 🙄), Kishi could have shown her talking to Neji after he literally told his bitter story on the chuunin exam grounds in front of everyone. She is shown like she is sympathetic but didn't do anything about it. She didn't even talk to him after he was hospitalized. She knew exactly why he was the way he was, and yet she fights him as if it was his fault. She, an heir of the clan, could have asked her father to support Neji, she had some clout. But nope. In fact, it was Neji who apologizes to her in a way, he is the one who trains her and help create a new jutsu for her. What did she ever do for him exactly? And Neji didn't have to help her. She was in the best position to help and understand Neji but what did she do? A lot of fans like her character because she is reserved but kind and sympathetic. She is reserved but a coward. She was not kind towards Neji. He died for her when he didn't deserve to, he had dreams and goals that were much bigger than Hinata's entire existence. She couldn't even see her own cousin's pain and she claims to understand Naruto?? Really??
Even Kishi said she was a pitiful character who only watches from a distance. He deliberately made her that way, no goal, no backbone and no lines. And I think she sucks the most after Danzo.
WoooW!!!! Thanks for the ask, Anon.
[[Hinata and Sakura fans!!!! Please stay away and don't interact. I fucking tagged them properly]].
Even though generally I dislike female characters who are naturally meek, subservient and pointless with no character arc in any type of media, what made me absolutely hate her character was how she treated Neji.
We definitely share the same thoughts on this one, Anon.
I am really tired on most of the media for their poor treatment of female characters.
The last time I was amused by a female character was from 'Game of Thrones', I loved Cersei Lannister, who is an absolute biashhh and Sansa Stark, started out as an annoying rose tinted princess but ended up winning everyone's heart. Both are non-combative, soft spoken and somewhat powerless women in a world dominated by men. But they just didn't let the inconveniences stop them and instead they learned how to fuck that world back and take control. Both are similar and yet very different.
After seeing, such well-developed characters..... For me girls in Naruto series, is blehhhhh..... Nothing to get inspired from them. And I knew it by episode 3 itself. I have no idea how can girls, in real life, treat Sakura as some feminist icon, which makes my skin crawl for number of reasons. If you point her mistakes out in any discussions, they will pull the misogynist card to your face. When in reality, I am also a girl and my world views are entirely different from Sakura or Hinata. There is no way a 12 year old girl would want to look at the Duck of another boy.
And the problem is, They form the majority, I mean people who can connect with Sakura or Hinata. So, as long as girls like them exists, we really should suffer from these crap portrayal I guess.
That's why I advise people that If you want to see a good woman character, Narutoverse is not the place.
Having said that, I find Temari, Konan, Tsunade were better (I mean inside the Narutoverse). Though their motivations or reason to achieve a goal revolve around their men, I find their attitude relieving. Unlike Sakura or Hinata, they don't wet themselves on the sight of the men they love.
What irritates me was, Kishimoto could've easily put a character like Temari or TenTen or Tsunade into Team 7. It would've made my viewing experience a lot better. If he doesn't want the strong girls to take over the attention from his boys, then he should've introduced a meek character like Rin Nohara. She is silent and cute but atleast she was willing to die for the Village and never wetted herself over Kakashi, though she loved him. And she treated Obito like her best friend. But he deliberately made Sakura hateful and he never stopped.
Sakura and Hinata were the lowest of the low, compared to any other side characters. And, in the end, they got the main Character's Ducks without actively doing anything. For me this tells me three things
He was using these girls as a shield to close the hetero normative mouths while in reality hiding those boys true feelings under that shield.
He really hated these kind of girls and constantly showing his hatred on them at every given chance and never redeemed them back.
He knew the target audience’ mindset and he simply caters them by giving them what they need and at the same time writing the important arcs according to his wish.
I think, it’s the combination of all three.
Just to give you an example.
There is this delusional SS shipper Who justifies Sasuke was acting Tsundere throughout the war arc. I mean, come on!!!!
I came across this post because, the Original Poster was an idiot who comes into the anti SS tag and reblogged my content and saying I was wrong... So, I don’t mind sharing that person’s content.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I don’t know where this delusion comes from... It's truly pathetic.
There are millions of idiots who believe in this kind of shit and Kishi is deliberately feeding them with bits and crumbs while making his boys go out and save the world.
These delusional mindset tells us they don’t give a single shit about the story as a whole. They watch it purely for the pretty faces and getting high over them. In this case, Sasuke.
It’s as clear as day that Sasuke didn’t care about anyone other than Naruto when fighting the war. You don’t have to be a shipper but even a non-shipper can point this out. I mean Sasuke wouldn’t have saved Jugo either, if he didn’t come to Sasuke and advice him. Do you think Sasuke would’ve tried to look for Jugo and saved him at all cost???? It’s just that he came to Sasuke and he helps him back. But Sasuke would’ve saved Naruto from the bomb blast even if he was standing a mile away.
So, if these delusions reflects the mindset of the majority of the women audience, then the creator will never try to give anything better but instead give us some low-life characters like Sakura and Hinata.
So, Anon, your expectation for Hinata’s character could’ve been developed much better is just a wishful thinking. Because, Hinata is a character for these kind of people and not for us. And the author deliberately did it.
Really??
For me, this also irked me a lot.
Hinata could’ve tried to talk to Neji about his problems even when he was a child. But she was simply playing innocent when in reality, she is just a coward. Even after the Chunin Exams, there was no apologies from her side, like you said. Because she is from the Main Branch. That hierarchy never changed. If she had the gall, she could’ve easily broken that hierarchy by saying, ‘I want Neji Nii-San to take over our Clan, He is the best candidate for this and I can gladly help him with all my efforts’.  A single line and just 2 or 3 panels, it all takes.
For me killing Neji is where Kishi asking us silently,
Do you really want these pair to happen despite having a blood stain of another character???
Most people said, ‘Yes!!!’, because they don’t give two shits about Neji. As long as Hinata gets Naruto, the main character’s Duck, that’s all there is to it. It doesn’t matter who dies, who lives.
That's why Kishi is shitting on them by making her as a non-existent woman in the Boruto Manga.
Even in real life, there are many hopeless foolish little girls who would do anything for the man she loves. I've seen them and I always stay 2 miles away from them. I mean, they even ditch their own friends and spends her entire time with him and when he dumps her later, she will come back to her friends for consolation. I think Sansa Stark is the best example for this. She started out much similar to Sakura and Hinata, believing in Princes and shit, she even naively betrayed her father for the man she had crush on. But the author made her to learn her lesson in a much painful way and later she came out as a Queen who no longer needed any man at the end. I think, this is called Development.
At the end of the day, Romance and Sex is all that matters. The author knew it. So, he is feeding these girls with some low quality cookies and they are very glad to take and eat it.

♡ konoha 11 wedding hcs pt. 2 ♡
+ kakashi
Tumblr media
Ino
she makes a reservation at your guys' favourite restaurant, and the staff are all in on it because she wants it to be perfect. when you arrive the table has flowers and candles
at the end of the meal she orders a desert for you two to share and at first you don't notice the flash of gold on top the small cake, you're too busy staring at her. but when she finally points it out you throw yourself across the table to hug her, accidentally getting some icing on your shirt, "yes, yes! I do!"
glamorous and classy summer wedding! instead of one person waiting at the end of the aisle, you decided to enter from opposite sides and then walk up together, hand in hand, and she doesn't let you go until the ceremony is over. you invite everyone you know and throw a huge party for your reception!
your song: at last by etta james
Shikamaru
he debates for a long time whether he should even propose. i mean, do you really need a piece of paper to love each other for the rest of your lives? but he knows you'd appreciate the symbolism. and if he figures if he's gonna do it he might as well come up with a plan, but the day comes and nothing is working out as he had imagined
you end up loving every bit anyway though. then he gets down on one knee after one too many mishaps and says, "(y/n), I'm sorry today wasn't perfect, but I think you are. marry me?" but you thought it was perfect the whole time anyway, "of course!"
you guys elope one bright, spring day. he's not one for a big wedding and you don't care as long as you're marrying him. it's just you two and the officiant, surrounded by the trees of nara forest, and it couldn't be more perfect. when you guys get back from your honeymoon you have a reception to celebrate with all your friends
your song: dead sea by the lumineers
Choji
gets shikamaru to help him plan the proposal, and he's really nervous but he knows how much you love him. he really wants to make it personal and not generic, he knows you'd expect him to propose at a restaurant
so he decides to make a gourmet meal for you himself at home! you walk into your apartment to the smell of delicious food and find him sitting at the table waiting for you, that adorable smile on his face. he kneels and asks you to marry him, and you enjoy your meal as a newly engaged couple
big wedding!! Ino does florals of course and they're perfect. Choji is such a sweetheart i feel like he wants everyone to be there. he does not hold back when he sees you, you're just so perfect and he's not afraid to show it so he's beaming and let's those tears flow with pride
your song: lucky by jason mraz and colbie caillet
Neji
he knows for a long time that he's wanted to marry you, but he's also a naturally hesitant person when it comes to this sort of thing so he considers it for a long time before he decides to make his move
one day he wakes up beside you and he just knows its time, so he talks for a walk to a scenic pond, and everything is going perfect - until it starts pouring. but he's not giving up, so he gets on one knee and looks up at you with his long hair stuck to his face from the rain (*swoon*) and asks for your hand in marriage
(yes he says it like that, he's cute n traditional ok??)
anyway, a romantic, private wedding where you two can really express your feelings for one another. it takes place in the morning instead of the evening so the sun is rising above you while you say your vows and the way the morning light hits his face he you can't believe he's your husband
your song: till kingdom come by coldplay
Tenten
you guys both got rings for each other and have been carrying them around for months because you share a braincell. and one day you're walking through the village together and she's looking at your gorgeous face laugh at something she said and she's like, this is it
so she gets down on one knee. and you just start... laughing more? and at first she's so scared but then she sees you pull the ring from your own pocket and get down on your knee as well. then she throws her arms around you joining in your laughter, "I love you so much ."
whimsical, midsummers night dream type summer wedding. your guys' ceremony is super personalized and non-traditional, everyone has so much fun at the reception that people are talking about it for weeks after
your song: you and i by ingrid michaelson
Lee
first person he tells when he knows he's going to ask you is Gai of course, and he's so happy so him he cries. goes all out for the proposal, i feel like he's the type to do something wild and extravagant because he just thinks you deserve the world
we're talking this man tried to spell it out in the sky but due to some logistic issues he had to "settle" for a perfectly planned proposal in front of all your friends along with a pre-schedule professional photographer. he thought of everything.
spring wedding under the cherry blossoms, it's perfect in everyway. like Choji he is not afraid to let his emotions for you show so he's practically bawling as he watched you walk towards him. vows of just absolute devotion and love
your song: make you feel my love by adele
Kakashi
actually so nervous to pop the question, stresses about it and confides in team 7 (big mistake) they're of course, SO enthusiastic but less than helpful
one day he's just looking at you and realizes there's no such thing as the right time. he even forgets to get down on one knee, just pulls out the ring beside you on the couch. you're not sure if you're imagining things at first. "is this real?" "yes, (y/n). marry me, please?"
fall wedding surrounded by the changing leaves in a small, intimate ceremony with your closest friends. he doesn't cry when you walk down the aisle, he knows how to keep his composure in front of others, but by god does he want to. your vows are so personal and full of emotion people almost feel like they're intruding listening to them
your song: first day of my life by bright eyes

Gorgeous
Pairings: Neji x Y/N
Song reference/inspiration: Gorgeous by Taylor Swift
Summary: You hate Neji… or do you?
A/N: I didn’t know what came over me please don’t sue 🤣 Please let me know your thoughts, although I couldn’t really reply since this isn’t my main blog... (I just really like reading your comments & reblogs 🥺)
Tumblr media
You always thought the gods above adore you because of how lucky you are. For years of being a shinobi, you’re able to go on missions without that certain someone.
Everyone knows that you dislike Neji. Some might even go far and say you hate him. But no one really knew why you hated him with so much passion.
So when you’ve been assigned on a mission with him for the first time, your friends — with the exception of Hinata —immediately know you’d invite them for drinks to get piss drunk and rant about the Hyuga boy.
When you arrive at the bar, you wasted no time ordering drinks and downing them one by one.
“Woah, slow down Y/N!” Sakura says.
“Let her be, Sakura. You know how she gets when Neji is involved,” Ino tells Sakura, “No words are going to stop her, might as well just look over her.”
Sakura gives her a frown then slips in glasses of water in between the drinks you had lined up.
“Ugh, I hate this! Why do I even have to be assigned with him?” You complain.
Ino sighs, “It was bound to happen anyway, with the shortage of shinobis from the back-to-back attacks here in Konoha, and all that. You’ve been lucky you hadn’t been assigned on missions with him for this long.”
You huff. “The gods hate me so much.”
Ino just rolls her eyes at you.
“Why do you hate Neji so much anyway?” Sakura asks.
You take a shot before answering. “Have you heard how he talks? He’s always talking about destinies and fates and how we can’t change them!”
Sakura and Ino look at each other. Then Sakura says, “I don’t know what year you live in, but Neji has changed ever since he met Naruto.”
“—And besides that,” you continue your rant, “He’s such a know-it-all. And he just always has to explain everything to us like we don’t understand anything.”
“I mean he’s really good at analyzing things and breaking them down for us so we can follow the reasoning behind things,” Sakura says in defense of the poor man.
“Shikamaru is just the same but I don’t see you hating on him,” Ino adds.
You pay no mind to their statements, knowing they’re probably right but you weren’t just going to admit that. “—And he always sounds so bossy! Everyone looks up to him and heeds his words. It’s like he has this magnetic field that attracts people and shit. It’s so fucking annoying!”
Ino and Sakura were both about to say something about your statements but no words came out despite them opening their mouths. You squint at them, a contrast to the way their eyes had widened.
“What?” You ask.
“I think we should talk, you’re being a little too loud,” someone behind you says.
You bite the inside of your cheeks, knowing who that voice belongs to. You feel your face getting hot — from the embarrassment or from the alcohol, you weren’t sure. You clear your throat, look behind you and greet, “Neji.” You try to make your voice sound friendly, but you were so used to saying his name laced with venom that it’s just impossible for you to sound amicable.
He’s taken aback by the hostility in your voice. He’s aware of your hatred towards him so he tries not to bother you with his presence but you’re talking too loudly about him that it was becoming uncomfortable to him. Besides, you two are going to go on a mission together, it’s better to resolve things between the two of you right now, or at least before the mission starts.
Neji knows he hasn’t done anything to wrong you and as far as he’s concerned, both of you never talked to each other yet so he wasn’t really sure why you despised him so much, until now, that is.
He holds his hand out for you to help you stand. How gentlemanly, you wanted to sneer but you stopped yourself. Instead, you clench your fists and glare at him.
When you don’t make a move to stand up, he gently grabs a hold of your hand and tugs you towards the exit of the bar. You’re too shocked by the action that you didn’t get to protest. You know damn well Neji avoids physical contact with everyone, except during training, of course.
By the time you’re both out of the bar, you aim a punch at him. But with your drunkenness, you miss. That, and he easily dodged it.
“What are you doing?!” Neji asks, surprised by your action.
“You should think about the consequence of touching my hand.”
His brows furrow, trying to understand you. He doesn’t want to make things worse so he chooses to apologize instead.
You don’t respond, opting to lean back against the wall and cross your arms instead, considering your abrupt movement made your head feel dizzy. You tried not to wince at the pounding of your head. God forbid you’d let him see any weakness in you.
Then you take a look at Neji who seems to have shifted to a more relaxed stance after your unexpected attack. Seeing this, you try to collect yourself as well. Or at least as much as your drunk mind can.
Neji takes your silence as a signal to talk. “We’ve known each other for so long now because we have the same circle of friends, but we never really got to talk to each other until now,” he starts. “I have seen you interact with everyone except me. At first it did not really bother me, but then I found out you hated me. In order to avoid unnecessary arguments or whatsoever, I let you be and kept my distance. I did not understand why, until I heard you talking a while ago—”
There was something unnerving about his lavender eyes staring at you so intently that must’ve made your mind short circuit, so you cut him off and blurt out, “You should take that as a compliment.”
To say that Neji is confused is an understatement. The creases on his forehead deepen at your declaration. “What do you mean?”
You close your eyes and just shrug. Your mind wasn’t cooperating with you so you’d rather just not talk. You keep silent for a whole minute meanwhile Neji waits until you speak again. When the minute passes and he still hasn’t said a word, you ask, “Why don’t you just go back to Tenten or something?”
That sounded wrong.
Frankly, that wasn’t what you plan on saying, but your inebriated mind couldn’t comprehend what you just said and its possible implication.
If other people were to listen to your conversation right now, they would probably assume that you were jealous, or maybe even insecure with Tenten, but Neji was different from other people. Luckily for you, you both share a similar way of thinking. He knows you’re trying to deflect.
“Tenten’s your girlfriend, right?” You couldn’t stop your mouth from blabbering anymore.
“No. She’s a friend.”
This was news to you. You always assumed they were together since they spend a huge amount of time with each other.
“So you’re single?”
“Yes.”
“Ugh, that’s honestly worse,” you thought. Or at least you intended it to be just a thought but you ended up saying it out loud.
Neji doesn’t know if he should be offended by your statement or not. Was it worse because no one’s going to keep him in line? Shouldn’t you be glad no one’s going to suffer the fate of being his girlfriend? Those were definitely something you’d say. But he’s uncertain, so he pushed those thoughts aside, knowing full well you weren’t going to answer him properly if he asked the meaning behind your words.
Since you’re so keen on changing the subject regarding your hatred for him when he’s obviously trying hard to make amends with you, he decides to just drop it and talk to you when you’re completely sober. “Is Kiba going to come get you?”
“Why should he?” It was your turn to furrow your brows.
“You’re drunk and he’s your boyfriend.”
You snort. If he said you were seeing Kiba then you definitely wouldn’t deny it and you’d shut your mouth. You aren’t in a relationship with him, or maybe you are, if friends-with-benefits is considered a relationship. So Kiba is in no way your boyfriend — that label entails commitment and of course, love. However, your setup with Kiba was more of an agreement rather than a commitment and instead of romantic love, there was only love for a friend.
To correct him you say, “He’s not really my boyfriend.”
Neji was never one to assume unless there’s a basis. He knows this about himself. So when you deny your relationship with Kiba, he was skeptical, and a smaller part of him was ashamed that he reached such a conclusion without asking first.
It only goes to show that you both have wrong preconceptions about each other, and that you both have a lot to learn about one another.
“Ah, sorry. I thought—”
“It’s fine,” you wave him off.
Neji’s eye twitches. You cut him off twice now and he doesn’t appreciate it at all. He’s a very patient man and it takes a lot to get a rise out of him or maybe even get a reaction. But you had him shift from being apologetic to confused to ashamed and then to being annoyed in a matter of minutes.
Surely this wasn’t normal, right? What kind of power do you hold that you could make him easily shift moods? For a moment, he considers the possibility of you casting a genjutsu on him but quickly dismisses the thought when he senses that your chakra flow is normal.
You quickly notice his annoyance and you immediately feel bad for your actions. “‘M sorry,” you mumble with a pout, looking down on your feet.
The apology softens the Hyuga boy immediately. He’s never really heard you address him so sincerely and without malice all throughout this conversation, or ever. But he’s seen you do this with your other friends; he’s seen you readily set aside your pride for them. Your friends admittedly claimed that this was one of your traits that makes you so special whenever they tried coaxing him to talk to you and befriend you.
Unexpectedly, Neji smiles. It was truly a rare sight, and it was directed to you. You feel your heart flutter.
“I-I should, uhm, head home,” you internally cringe at the way you stuttered the words.
“What about Ino and Sakura?”
“Ah, I’m pretty sure they’ve gone ahead when I left.”
“And Kiba won’t pick you up?”
“Nope. He’s somewhere doing god knows what.”
Neji gives a contemplative stare.
“Anyway, I think you already know that we won’t be able to talk properly since I’m drunk, so I’ll go now. Let’s talk some other time, I guess. Bye!” You say a little too fast.
“Wait! Let me walk you home.”
You huff. “Do whatever you want.”
Silence follows after that. You’re particularly happy that the walk to your home is quick since you aren’t sure how to act around Neji.
He walks you until the door and you quickly mumble a thanks and shut the door.
As soon as the door is shut, you immediately slump to the floor, dropping your facade along the way.
The fact of the matter is that you don’t hate Neji. It’s quite the opposite actually. You just don’t know how to express your feelings properly.
For a moment you wish you could be like Hinata who’s content at watching Naruto from the sidelines. You, however, instead of feeling content, you’re furious. Because there’s nothing you hate more than what you can’t have. And this is what your face chooses to express whenever Neji is around, which is why you couldn’t blame your friends or other people for that matter when they assumed you hated him. You just went along with them, to save face.
The white lie was furthered by their observation that you don’t talk to him. To your defense, it’s not that you don’t want to talk to him, it’s just that you can’t. Your mind literally goes haywire.
Just like in your conversation earlier. When you first cut him off, and blurted out the first thing on your mind.
You should take that as a compliment.
What your mind wanted to say is: You should take that as a compliment because even when I’m drunk, it’s you I keep on thinking about.
Not to mention how embarrassing it was when you asked if he’s single and thought that that was so much worse than being in a relationship. Because how can he be allowed to be single when he’s just so gorgeous it actually hurts?
You bang your head against the door a couple of times in frustration.
Unbeknownst to you, Neji is still standing on the other side of the door, dumbfounded by how fast you shut it in front of his face. Just as he’s about to walk away, he hears a whack on the door. His mind immediately assumes you got hurt. As he raises his hand to knock on your door, he stills at the sound of your voice.
“Stupid Neji and his stupidly gorgeous face, ruining my life by not being mine.”

Surprise Party (Neji x reader)
Prompt: none
A/n: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my girl Zaire @excitedlysuffering!!!! 🥳💞  This fic is dedicated to you, my favorite Neji simp 🥰  I hope you enjoy!
P.S. two of my OCs have made another appearance in this fic -- ten points if you can tell me the other fic I’ve mentioned them in 😉
Pairing: Neji Hyuga x female reader
Words: 1.4k+
Warnings: none
Masterlist / buy me a coffee?
“So, Neji, what’d you call us all here for?” 13 pairs of eyes stared at him, confused. They were in a secluded area of one of Konoha’s parks, under a large tree whose leaves let tiny rays of sunlight peek in to illuminate the group. The man in question was standing against the tree, leaning against it with his arms crossed.
“As I’m sure you all know, Y/n’s birthday is this Saturday,” he said. The glances shared between his friends indicated that they did not, in fact, know. “I’m throwing a surprise party for her and would like you all to come.”
“A surprise party? How wonderful!” Lee clenched his fist, grinning excitedly. “I’m sure she will be filled with the power of youth!”
“Remember that it’s a surprise party,” Neji replied. “Make sure you don’t tell her anything.”
“What’s the plan?” asked Ryota Yamanaka. He and Shigeru Hyuga were on Team 4, Y/n’s squad.
“Tenten, Lee and I will decorate Y/n’s house for the party. Ryota, you and Shigeru will make sure Y/n is distracted. Team 7 will get snacks, Team 8 will get dinner and Team 10 will get the cake.” Everyone nodded. “Any questions?” After a moment of silence, Neji nodded, and the teams started out on their task.
--
“Hey, Y/n,” Ryota leaned through your bedroom window. “Want to go get dango with Shigeru and I?” You narrowed your eyes at him and set down the shirt you were folding, walking over to the window and placing your hands on your hips.
“You only want to get dango when you’re asking me a favor.” You squinted at the blond, who looked nervous, and peered down at his dark-haired companion, who was holding him up to see through your second-story window. “Shigeru, what’s going on?”
Shigeru moved Ryota slightly so you could see his face. His pale eyes stared into yours, looking like a deer caught in headlights. “Nothing. We just want dango, is all.” You shot him a dirty look, and he hid his face behind Ryota’s legs again.
You sighed. “Fine, I’ll be down in a minute.” You saw Ryota grin before tumbling down to the ground with a thud. You chuckled, shutting the window and grabbing your things.
--
“Let’s get ramen! Everyone loves ramen.”
“Ramen’s not a snack, idiot.” Sakura placed her hands on her hips and glared at her carefree teammate. “We need to think of snacks Y/n actually likes.”
“She doesn’t like ramen?” Naruto asked. Sakura groaned.
“What about chips? I read that those are common party snacks in a book,” Sai said, smiling.
Sakura turned away from her blonde teammate, a smile spreading across her face as she looked at Sai. “Chips would be perfect. We’ll get some dip to go with them!”
“You could dip them in ramen!”
“...You’re disgusting.”
--
“What would Y/n like for dinner?” Hinata’s quiet voice interrupted her group’s silent thinking. The three of them were seated in a patch of warm grass, and Akamaru was dozing off at Kiba’s side.
“I’m sure Naruto would get ramen,” Kiba smirked, leaning back next to his dog.
“I’m not sure what we should get. That’s because I don’t know Y/n very well,” Shino chimed in. Hinata sighed, leaning back and staring at the blue sky.
“He’s your cousin’s girlfriend, what do you think?” Kiba asked.
Hinata thought for a moment. “Why not barbecue pork? We could get a ton from the restaurant.” Her teammates nodded, and the three set off to get the food.
--
“This cake looks good,” Shikamaru gestured towards a red cake with decorative flowers.
Choji nodded heartily. “And it’s chocolate, which Y/n likes.”
“Absolutely not.” Ino chimed in, crossing her arms. Her teammates stared at her.
“Why not?” Shikamaru asked.
“It’s decorated with red windflowers! Do you hate her?” The boys stared blankly at her, and the blonde sighed. “Red windflowers represent death or forsaken love. We don’t want to ruin the mood of her whole birthday by giving her that kind of message.”
“I don’t think she’d realize…” Choji started, but was cut off with a sharp glare from Ino.
“We’re picking a different cake.”
Shikamaru sighed and put his hands on the back of his head. “What a drag.”
--
“Where in the world does she keep her silverware?” Neji muttered to himself, pulling out drawer after drawer in Y/n’s kitchen. Lee had been little help so far, insisting on doing all the preparations while walking on his hands, and Tenten had gone out to buy streamers and balloons.
“Five thousand four hundred and sixty-four...five thousand four hundred and sixty-five...five thousand--”
“For the love of God, can you help me find some forks?”
--
You yawned and stretched your arms above your head. The sun was setting now, streaks of pink and orange painted across the sky. You had sat and chatted with your teammates for hours now, and while you were glad to spend time with them, something still felt off.
“Okay, I think I’m going to head home now,” you said, standing up. Ryota and Shigeru scrambled to their feet.
“Wait, Y/n, are you sure? We were having such a good talk--” You turned around and stared at Ryota, narrowing your eyes at him.
“What’s going on? You’ve both been acting weird all day.” The two boys shriveled under your gaze.
“Nothing--”
“Then why have you been so insistent on keeping me out of the house?”
Shigeru sighed, placing a hand to his forehead. “It’s nearly seven, we might as well head back,” he said to Ryota. Ryota nodded nervously. The two of them stood up slowly.
“Alright, let’s take you home.” Ryota said.
Both Ryota and Shigeru seemed nervous on the walk home, but neither one would explain what was going on. You gave up asking and turned your attention to the sunset, feeling the last rays of the sun kiss your face as you walked.
When you walked up to your front stoop, you were met by Sakura, Naruto and Sai. When they saw you, they frantically began trying to shove the bags they were holding behind their backs. You frowned. “What are you guys doing at my house?”
“Oh, nothing,” Naruto said sheepishly. “We just got lost on the way to my house.” Sakura glared at him.
“Your house is on the opposite side of the village, Naruto.” The boy’s blue eyes filled with shock, but he had no time to respond before Neji opened your front door, freezing when he saw you.
“Neji? What are you doing in my house?”
“I thought you guys were going to keep her out until 7,” Neji overlooked you, glaring at your teammates. “It’s only 6:46.”
Shigeru laughed nervously. “She got too suspicious, sorry.”
“Suspicious of what? What’s going on?” You fixed your gaze on Neji, who sighed deeply.
“Well, I guess you’re here already, so may as well come in and find out.” He opened your front door and stepped out of the way for you to enter. You stepped in to see Hinata, Kiba, Shino, and Choji setting the table for dinner, and Ino and Shikamaru pulling out drinks. Tenten and Lee were hanging up a banner; it read “Happy Birthday Y/n!” You gasped.
“It’s my birthday,” you said quietly. Neji placed a hand on the small of your back. “I totally forgot.” Behind you, Sai, Sakura, Naruto, Ryota and Shigeru slipped in and began helping set up. You saw dishes of barbecue pork, sodas, chips, and boxes of ramen begin to adorn the table.
“I thought I told you no ramen,” Sakura snapped at Naruto. He shriveled.
“I thought she might like some snack options.”
You let out a small laugh, and turned to Neji. His whole body was tense, and a vein was popping out of his forehead as he watched Akamaru spill a drink with his tail and Naruto run from Sakura’s fists. You embraced your boyfriend, resting your head on his shoulder, and felt him relax slightly.
“Thank you, Neji. This is amazing.”
“I wanted it to be perfect when you got back…” You shushed him, lifting your head to look into his eyes.
“It is perfect. It’s all I could have asked for. Thank you.” You kissed him gently on the lips, and turned to survey the scene in front of you. Kiba and Hinata had cleaned up the spill, and Sakura and Naruto had managed to sit down without killing each other. Everyone else was finding their seats, and Shikamaru was using a lighter to light the candles on a birthday cake with icing of your favorite color.
“Happy birthday, Y/n,” Neji said quietly. You found his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze, and the two of you joined your friends for a delicious birthday dinner.

It All Started With Him | Neji Hyūga; Sasuke Uchiha
Characters: (Main) Neji Hyūga, Sasuke Uchiha. (Side characters) the rest of Konoha 12(I know it’s technically Konoha 11 because Sasuke isn’t included in it, but imma still refer to them as konoha 12), Tsunade, and the senseis.
Warnings: heartache; angst; death
Summary: The slow progression of a relationship between two unlikely shinobi, one reserved and one who wore her heart upon her sleeve; the aftermath of having to grieve and move on after one is gone, the heart upon her sleeve frosting over; denying finding a safe space within another troubled soul. A story of things coming full circle, for it all started with him.
Words: 9425 (i went overboard with this one and i still wanna make it longer/into an actual book instead of an imagine)
was originally going to make it a reader insert, but instead i gave the girl a name. Feel free to read it as a reader insert??
In this story, the konoha 12 is the konoha 15 as the girl is a shinobi and has her own squad.
*AUTHOR’S NOTE: I may have gone overboard with this one?? Kinda wanna write an expanded version of it, as an actual series with in depth descriptions instead of just flashes of moments*
REQUESTS ARE OPEN
 •─────────°❋❀°─────────•
She had fallen in love once in her life with a beautiful boy with a troubled past and a soft soul. She had fallen in love with someone who had struggled with the light and dark aspects of himself since his birth—where he was born with a destiny. He was fated to protect the main branch of his family.
Oh, how he had hated that as a child and into his early pre-teen years. But as life as a Leaf shinobi continued, he made friends, he crossed paths with worthy rivals, and had his frozen heart thawed out by those around him.
Maybe it was the way she seemed to always be glowing, or the way her smile was warming. Maybe it was the way Naruto spoke to him with such passion. Even Neji Hyūga, full of distrust and resentment for his uncle and his cousins, was able to move past it.
The once angry child prodigy—the top genin of his class—was able to become a sweet, responsible, and serene teenage boy. He stayed reserved, an affectionate side to him scarce to many. Even his teammates and sensei rarely saw a compassionate Neji, though he was softer with Tenten out of the four of them. She was basically his best friend.
But there was something about Minori that went past the way Naruto had gotten through to him. It was an unlikely pair. Where Neji was calm and observant, she could be energetic and oblivious. Where he was reserved, she often wore her heart on her sleeve.
 •─────────°❋❀°─────────•
Minori was a kunoichi from their village the same year as Naruto, and a year younger than Neji and his team. She was the only girl who had set out with the Sasuke Recovery Team when they were all still pre-teens, when the Uchiha boy left the village to seek out Orochimaru. She stayed by to fight Kidomaru with Neji. Despite the fact that they had won their battle, the two of them had sustained too many injuries to regroup with the rest of the recovery team.
Back in the village after being unsuccessful in retrieving Sasuke before he made it to Otokagure, the Sasuke Recovery Team had gone back to their own teams and their own lives while Naruto went off training with Jiraya.
It was in those three years that Naruto was gone that Minori and Neji became closer. Where they once would cross paths and not acknowledge one another, their shared fight built the mutual respect the two had for the other. Occasion nods in the other’s direction in an attempt to greet one another gradually turned into stopping for small talk.
 •─────────°❋❀°─────────•
ONE YEAR AFTER THE SASUKE RECOVERY MISSION & NARUTO’S DEPARTURE FOR TRAINING
There were footsteps that could be heard rushing down the pathway behind her. Minori turned around in curiosity, wondering who it was who was rushing through Konoha so fast. In her hands were groceries, but a moment later, they were on the floor alongside her.
“Ouch,” she groaned, sitting up slowly and rubbing her head, looking up at her assailant.
Through the rough glare of the sun blocking most of her eyesight, she was able to make out the shadow of a green jumpsuit and round, black hair.
“Ah! Minori-san!” a worried Lee called out, a sweat breaking on the side of his forehead as he realized he had just bulldozed into her. He bowed his head in the overly exaggerated way he did, his arms stiff at his side. “My apologies for running you over, Minori-san!”
“It’s okay, Lee,” she said with a small giggle. “No harm, no foul.”
He glanced down at her groceries, a few tomatoes that had fallen out of her bag.
“Allow me to buy you new groceries!” he offered.
“No need,” she said, waving her hands in front of her in defense, staying on the floor as she reached over to collect her things.
“Lee!” someone called out from behind him.
The boy turned around while Minori just looked up, pausing to grab her groceries from the floor. Light lavender, almost white, eyes stopped on the girl on the floor, blinking a few times in surprise.
“Minori-san?” he questioned, looking down at the girl on the floor. His eyes trailed down to her groceries, walking swiftly over and squatting down. He grabbed one of the bags from the floor, grabbing the remaining tomatoes on the floor.
“You didn’t have to do that,” Minori told him as she got to her feet, dusting them off.
Brief small talk turned into the occasional meal or walk through the village together during their down time from missions—normally with other members of Konoha 15. They had grown comfortable with one another. Their mutual friends would like to credit their shared time in the hospital after a shared battle for the unique bond they had since the Sasuke Recovery Mission.
“Again, so sorry, Minori-san!” Lee exclaimed, bowing to her one last time before beginning to run again.
She turned around as he passed.
“Why is he running through the village like that?” Minori questioned, looking over her shoulder at the long haired Hyuuga boy.
“He’s training,” Neji said with a strained sigh, a slight smile on his face. Despite Lee’s antics, you couldn’t help but love him.
“Ah,” she nodded.
“Are you heading home?” Neji questioned, and she nodded. “I’ll walk you?”
She was surprised with the suggestion. Despite growing close to one another over the years and countless times spent hanging out together, it wasn’t like Neji offered to walk her to her next destination unless they were assigned a mission together.
“S-sure,” she nodded, a slight tint on her cheeks that anyone would miss if they weren’t looking at her closely.
He had kept one of the bags in his arms, allowing her to carry her other one. It was bright outside that day, the afternoon sun high in the sky.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
“So, Minori-chan,” Ino started, dragging the words out as Minori looked at the flowers in the Yamanaka flower shop. She was manning the register, leaning her head against her palm, her arm supported by her elbow. “Are you getting flowers for Neji?”
On his last mission, he had to be admitted into the Konoha Hospital due to a few of his injuries.
She gave Ino a playful yet warning expression. Over the past few weeks, the members of Konoha 15 grew a habit of teasing Minori over Neji’s new-found hobby of spending more time with her than before—and alone. It was out of character for the Hyuuga, who remained reserved with all others and formerly used to be frequently found on missions, training with Tenten, not alongside the young Kunoichi.
The interesting part of it all was that they all teased Minori as opposed to Neji, who was the one always initiating their time alone together.
“Yes, Ino-chan,” Minori said, her voice breathy as if the entire sentence was a sigh. “I am getting flowers for Neji-san.”
“Neji-san? Minori-san? You two are too formal with each other,” Ino muttered, walking out from behind the counter towards Minori, eyeing the flower selection that Minori was standing by.
“Yellow Acacia,” Ino stated, pointing at a flower. “I can put it into an arrangement with some white daisies for you.”
“Daisies mean ‘get well soon,’ right?” questioned Minori. “I remember you telling me that before.”
Ino nodded, a small smile at the comment that Minori listened to her when she told her meanings of flowers.
“And the Yellow Acacia?” wondered Minori. “What does that mean.”
“It’s perfect to explain you and Neji,” Ino stated, earning yet another playful, warning glare from Minori, who didn’t want Ino to continue to tease her about him. “Oh, calm down, Minori-chan. It just signifies the value of true friendship! You and Neji have had that since your battle to try to save Sasuke.”
Minori relaxed at the explanation, glad that Ino was taking this more seriously. Then, the blonde leaned in closer to her.
“But it can also mean hidden love,” she whispered.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
THE DAY NARUTO COMES BACK FROM HIS TRAINING
Minori laid on her bed, weeks later. She stared up at the ceiling. Naruto had just come back from his training with Jirarya, and his first question to her and Neji when he saw them was, “I didn’t see this coming, but you guys have my support! Believe it!”
They were merely walking outside of the Yakiniku Q together. Perhaps something about it was a bit odd—Neji was laughing at something Minori was saying.
Her cheeks were heating up at the memory of the embarrassment. For almost a year, she had been teased endlessly about Neji by their friends in private, none of them ballsy enough to bring it up in Neji’s presence. Well, other than Sai, but Neji was too focused on Tenten being aggressive over something Lee had said to hear Sai’s comment.
She remembered turning as red as a tomato when Naruto gawked at them, immediately thinking they were a couple. She refused to even look at Neji, biting her lip and looking down in embarrassment at Naruto’s misinterpreted impression. After the blonde left, the two comrades merely walked in silence, until splitting up to go home.
Even Naruto? wondered Minori. And he hasn’t even been with us like the rest of them. AND he’s the slowest one of us all, and even he thinks it?
She couldn’t comprehend why everything thought she and Neji were together. I mean, it wasn’t like she tended to giggle at most of the things coming out of his mouth, or how he actually let out a laugh or two around her as well. It wasn’t like she looked forward to bumping into him around Konoha in between missions because she knew they’d stop to catch up together. It wasn’t like she got extra excited whenever one of their friends invited her to hang out and told her that Neji would be amongst the people going.
It wasn’t as if she liked him, right?
She turned onto her side, looking out her window. On her windowsill was wilted flowers, one that Neji had gotten her ages ago when she was in the hospital, before she got him those Yellow Acacias. She could never bring herself to throw them away, so they just sat there in the vase, brown and turned down.
“Crap,” she muttered to herself, pulling her blanket over her shoulders. “I like Neji.”
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
She reported to the Hokage’s office, getting a notice that Tsunade wanted to see her for a mission. As the two years that Naruto had been training had gone by, a lot of important changes for their little friend group had happened. Last time Naruto had shown up, the final part of the Chunin exam had been halted due to the Konoha Crush mission from the sand village. However, most of the Konoha 15, excluding Naruto, were able to retake the test the next time it came around. As for Neji and Minori, they were also able to progress to the ranks of Jounin.
The newfound ranking gave them both a wider range of missions to take on. Despite still taking on missions in their own three man squads, they were also able to take on missions with greater responsibilities outside of their squads.
Though, they had yet to be assigned a high class mission together.
Minori knew all of that was going to change when she walked into Tsunade’s office and saw Neji already standing there. Minori tried not to panic about it, especially after her self realization the previous night about her feelings for Neji.
Minori was the last person to be able to hide how she felt from people once she realized it. She wore her heart upon her sleeve, as her teammates would call it. When they were just starting out as genin, she had developed a bit of a crush for Kiba Inuzuka, having been intrigued by his loud and bold personality. It never went beyond a silly little crush, nothing of importance, especially since it only lasted two weeks. However, in those two weeks, Minori didn’t even try to hide the fact that she was always trying to be around Kiba outside of missions, listening intently to the things he said. Even Kiba, as oblivious as he was, was able to catch on to the girl’s obvious infatuation with him.
They were kinda like how her and Neji were, without forcing the interactions, Minori noted to herself.
“Ah, good, you’re here,” smiled Tsunade. “I have a mission for you two.”
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
A mission alone with Neji?! she panicked on her way home.
It was a simple escort mission, but the woman had specifically asked for Jounin and had enough money for the request. She was a member of a known clan within her own village. When she had been traveling to Konoha, she was robbed. Instead of believing it was a simple mugging, she thought that perhaps her family’s enemies were targeting her, and wanted someone to guard over her during her passage home.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
The client, an elderly woman named Lady Bianca, was in her late50s perhaps. She walked alongside Minori. Neji was a few feet away from them, guiding them through the woods as the sun began to set, his byakugan activated.
Minori had to remind herself not to wear her heart upon her sleeve—not with Neji. However, that didn’t stop her from beginning to admire him in secret. His long hair that she once used to bombard him with questions about, wondering how he managed to keep it so healthy, was now shining in the evening sun. She had the strong urge to play with it—or even to just braid it.
No, Minori, she scolded herself, shaking her head vigorously.
“You Leaf shinobi are weird,” Lady Bianca commented from beside Minori, sending her judging eyes, catching Minori shaking her head for no reason.
Minori’s cheeks heated. Neji turned around curiously to see if Minori was already because of Lady Bianca’s random statement. The concern on his face over Minori merely made her cheeks head up more, even if he looked a little bit intimidated with his byakugan activated.
It’s a good thing those couldn’t see what people were feeling, Minori said to herself.
Neji slowed down after that, allowing for the two behind him to catch up to his spot. His byakugan was no longer activated, seeing no threat for miles, and they were going to stop to set up camp soon anyways. He walked alongside Minori, glancing down at the quiet kunoichi next to him.
Since when was Minori this quiet? He asked himself, but kept his questions to himself. He looked to the woman that they were guarding, his eyes narrowing on her. Had she said something that made Minori upset?
His eyes widened. Had he?
“Do you not like him or something?” Bianca asked, directing the question at Minori, had causing Neji’s face to contort with confusion.
“What brings you to that conclusion?” Minori asked, appalled.
“Your awkward tension can be sensed even at my age.”
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
They made camp in a small cave, a small fire in the middle to keep them warm. Lady Bianca laid burritoed in her sleeping bag across from where Minori and Neji sat, facing at the wall.
Minori, who had forgotten her blanket, sat next to Neji awkwardly as the Hyūga boy took out his own belongings. A blanket came spread across her, over her legs, and bundled at her waist. She looked up in surprise, quirking up an eyebrow at Neji.
“What’re you doing?”
“You’re cold,” he shrugged.
“But Neji-san, you’ll get cold. This is yours,” she said, taking the blanket and putting it back on him.
“And I want you to wear it.” He put it back on her.
“No—”
“Both of you wear it!” interrupted Lady Bianca, turning around to look at them. “I see now that the awkwardness is not dislike, but quite the opposite.”
Minori’s cheeks heated up yet again, and Neji’s eyes widened before he looked away.
“Now, lovebirds, just share the damn blanket and let an old lady get her beauty sleep,” Lady Bianca practically scolded them.
No one spoke as Neji draped the blanket over both himself and Minori, not commenting on anything their client had asid.
“I’ll take first watch,” Minori said, knowing she’d be unable to sleep anyways. “I’ll wake you up if I get tired.”
Neji didn’t protest her statement and nodded in silence. He moved around a bit in his seat, attempting to get comfortable. To Minori’s surprise, his head ended up on her shoulder. Neji closed his eyes, and Minori stared at hte top of his head.
“Lovebirds, eh?” he mumbled.
Something churned inside of her stomach with how Neji was at such close proximity to her, saying things like that.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
The trip was uneventful. Minori was unsure if she was disappointed or not. On one hand, she nad Neji didn’t have to risk their lives or fight to protect Lady Bianca. On the other hand, the wealthy woman had spent money on two Jounin that she didn’t actually need. Then, there was a also the realization that Minori would be having to travel back to Konoha alone with Neji.
And only one blanket.
Her cheeks turned red at the mere thought of it.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
“Minori! Please come out of your room!”
She laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling once more, her mother knocking on her door.
“I’m not hungry, Mom!” she called back out.
She hadn’t really been in the mood to talk to people much ever since she admitted to herself that she liked Neji. There was no way for her to stomach her feelings. They just wanted to come out. She wanted to tell anyone and everyone, but she wanted absolutely no one to know. Her friends already suspected something, but their teasing would become more serious once they actually realized there was some weight to their words. Minori actually liked Neji.
“There’s someone here for you,” her mom said from the other side of the door. “That nice boy who you hang out with a lot.”
“Please be more specific,” Minori said, opening the door.
She looked up, stopping abruptly when she saw Neji standing behind her mother. She was clad in casual clothing, sleeping shorts and a tank top, her hair up in a messy bun. Instead of her cheeks, her entire face went red. Even Neji had a slightly flushed face from seeing her in such a casual state.
“Ah!” she yelped, closing the door on them. “I, uh, sorry! Let me compose myself.”
She scrambled to make herself look decent, which just included putting on decent pants and a sweater over her tank top. She opened the door again, opting to leave her hair in the bun. Neji was now standing out there, leaning against the wall across from her room, her mother out of sight.
“Neji-san,” she greeted, walking out of her room and closing the door. “What brings you here?”
She brought the two of them out onto the back balcony where there was patio furniture, sitting across from him.
“Sorry for not giving you a warning,” Neji apologized. “I was just worried about you.”
“Worried about me?”
“Well, last time we really saw each other was a few weeks ago when we escorted Lady Bianca,” he explained. “You haven’t come out to any of the outings, and you were acting a bit odd during the mission, as well. I was just wondering if you were all right.”
“Ah,” she nodded, moving some stray hair behind her ear. “Yes, Neji-san. I am okay. I guess I just needed some time for myself, to figure out some things.”
Neji looked at her with furrowed eyebrows. “Like what?” he asked.
She wasn’t too sure how to respond.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
“Ah, Minori-chan!” someone called out.
She turned around to see Tenten across the street from her, standing at the Yamanaka flower shop. She was waving her hand at her, trying to wave her down.
“Hi, Tenten-chan,” Minori greeted, walking across the way towards her.
“I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages,” Tenten commented. “I’d usually find you with Neji.”
Minori made a face. Ever since she realized her feelings, she did everything she could to put some distance between her and Neji. And now everyone was noticing.
“Did something bad happen between you two?” Tenten asked, analyzing her face.
“W-what? No! Of course not!”
“Did something romantic happen between you two?” she asked next.
“Definitely not!”
“Oh,” Tenten acknowledged. “I guess it’s just weird not seeing you two together. I was so sure for a second there that you two were going to end up admitting you liked each other, or something. I’ve never seen Neji act like he does with you with anyone else. I guess I was wrong, then.”
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
A FEW WEEKS LATER
“I knew it!” Ino exclaimed.
Neji gritted his teeth annoyingly, wishing that he had gone to the Yamanaka flower shop when Ino wasn’t the one watching it.
“Knew what, Ino?” he asked, his eyes closed as he turned around to face her.
“You’re all dressed up, looking for flowers to buy, you have a date,” Ino teased, glancing up and down at Neji.
“And so what if I did?” he asked. He didn’t have one, but he wanted to know what it was that Ino believed she knew.
“I’m sure I know who it is,” Ino giggled.
“Doubt it.”
“Minori-chan, who else,” she stated with a shrug, as if it was the most obvious thing.
Minori-san? Neji wondered. Wait, do these people think Minori-san and I have romantic feelings for one another?
Ino’s face dropped when she saw the confusion on Neji’s face, and he furrowed his eyebrows at the blonde.
“It’s… not Minori-chan?” Ino asked, a sad expression on her face. “You’re going on a date with someone else?”
“What?! No!” Neji denied. “I never said I was going on a date!”
“You never said you weren’t!” Ino argued. “Then why do you look like that?”
He looked down awkwardly, a tint on his cheeks.
“Minori-san and I don’t see each other like that,” he muttered to her. “But I am going to dinner at her house. Her mother invited me.”
Ino’s smirk was back.
“But it’s not a date?”
“No, why? Has Minori-san told you she thinks I’ll ask her on a date?” Neji wondered, wanting to know where Ino was coming from.
“Nope,” Ino said honestly. “Minori-chan is almost as good as you are at hiding her feelings for you. But I know two people in love when I see them.”
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
So, maybe all of Konoha was right. Minori liked Neji, and Neji liked Minori. They just had a slow progression, full of oblivion and then attempts at repressing feelings.
Neji Hyūga had become the first boy Minori had ever fallen in love with. A beautiful boy with a troubled past and a soft soul. She had fallen in love with him and watched as he struggled with certain aspects of himself, life and dark; destiny and chosen path. She fell in love with the man who vowed to protect his baby cousins with everything he could, just as he was fated to at his birth.
It was surprising because of how they were the unlikely pair. Their personalities as children wouldn’t have been compatible. Neji, the prodigy who had little space in his heart for love, and Minori, the small kunoichi who was socially awkward and wore her heart on her sleeve, everything she did was full of love and compassion.
As they both rose to the rank of Jounin, they both mellowed out. Neji began to think more lovingly about life, and Minori had began to think more rationally. The two of them were calm and collected, and for a while, oblivious to the whimsical romance brewing between the two of them.
Neji loved how she always seemed to be glowing, and she loved the way he looked at her.
They loved each other. It took them a while to admit it, but once they did, it was as if everything was starting to make sense. Not much really changed in their lives after the confessions—Neji having confessed first. They were always softer with one another than everyone else, they were always in one another’s presence. Minori wasn’t so scared to wear her heart upon her sleeve anymore. Not with Neji.
Despite not being the type to indulge in public displays of affection, Neji had a tendency to be okay simple touches. He wasn’t opposed to holding hands around their friends or walking around the village or for Minori to lean up against him—he was the one to lean against her first, before they even started dating, in that cave with Lady Bianca. He didn’t mind simple forehead kisses. In private, he was more touchy with her. His head always found itself in her lap as they did something as simple as reading, and she’d play with his hair.
She even got it braided once, and Neji wore it around her house that day. Her mother had gushed about how much she liked it, and Neji had turned red, unaware that her mother had been home.
Minori’s love language was touch, and despite never saying it, Neji knew.
Ah, young love, Guy-sensei had said when he saw Neji kiss his girlfriend’s forehead before Team Guy left on one of their missions. Oh, to be sixteen and in love.
But love was a rare thing to those who chose the path of the Shinobi. The world of Shinobi was full of hardships, heartbreak, death, war, and devastation. It was also full of friendship and passion, but life wasn’t a guaranteed thing when you vow to protect your village.
The Fourth Great Ninja war caused massive destruction all over—friendships broken, people loss, family’s hurting. But Minori hadn’t expected to come out of the war with a cold heart upon her sleeve.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
First, she had to watch as her two squadmates perished. The two people she might’ve considered her best friends, the ones she had spent countless time training with, eating with, going on missions with. The faces she had seen more than her family’s faces in the three years since they were assigned to their squads as mere genin. Two people she loved more than life itself that she would never get to see become Jounin, never get to see get married and have kids, tell stories about with and reminisce. Two people whose names she now stared at on the Memorial Stone.
The part of the war that may have broken her more than the deaths of her squadmates was watching the love of her life die. She had stopped on the battlefield where she was fighting alongside Neji, anger and tears in her eyes from the deaths of her comrades just days earlier. Neji had got her through it, holding her hand when she found out the news. She was with Sakura at the back end of the war at the time, helping with healing the injured, and Neji had rushed back to be with her.
She had watched as Neji separated from her, her world going in slow motion from there. It was an out of body experience, one she never wanted to go through.
Naruto’s voice calling for a medic rang through her ears, Hinata’s face as Naruto held his body. Minori just stared in shock, her body unable to move even when she yelled at it to do so.
She heard Neji whisper something to Naruto, unable to make out what he was saying from where she was.
She seemed to have spaced out, because all of a sudden Lee and Tenten were there, Lee holding her boyfriend’s body.
Naruto marched over to Minori, his head down as he made his way to her. Tears were flowing down her face rapidly as she looked at his body, unable to stop herself from shaking. Naruto grabbed her shoulders and pulled her into himself.
“I’m sorry, Minori-chan,” he said, struggling to keep his voice stable. “He told me to tell you that he’s sorry he had to leave your side so early, but protecting the ones he loved was the path he would always choose. And he said that even if you didn’t say it, he knows the answer to the question he asked you earlier. And he’s glad to know it was yes.””
Minori began to audibly sob at this point, all of their comrades stopping to listen to her heartbroken cries. Naruto supported her weight when her knees gave in, Tenten looking away from her teammates body and his girlfriend’s broken hysteria. Lee cried alongside with her, silently, holding onto Neji.
Naruto guided her over to the body, and she kneeled down on the floor. Lee allowed for her to take Neji into her arms, and she held him close and dear.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
They had won the war, but Minori was changed in ways the Konoha 15, now Konoha 12, had no idea how to fix. At nineteen years old, Minori’s heart upon her sleeve was frozen. Where many of her friends were getting married or becoming a couple, she had been unable to move past her first love, the only boy she believed she might ever be able to love. She wasn’t even sure what she would give to be able to feel the warmth that was that love again.
The funerals they held for those who died in combat was the hardest string of days and funerals for her. Her sensei, who had survived the war with her, stood with her hand on the girl’s shoulder as she sobbed, watching her squadmates' names be etched on the Memorial Stone. She stood with Team Guy during Neji’s funeral, and when his name was placed onto the stone as well. Lee and Guy let tears river down their faces while Tenten and Minori stared sorrowfully, arms linked with one another.
Tenten hadn’t cried in public over Neji’s death. She had kept a strong stance, despite the fact that her heart was breaking. Minori didn’t have it in her to cry at his funeral, having spent the days since the war sobbing endlessly in her bedroom. Tears involuntarily fell down her face at the end of the service though, the girl collapsing from exhaustion. Team Guy and Hinata stayed with her, the five of them there in silence.
Sasuke Uchiha was back in the village, and it was all that anyone could talk about. She was with the girls at the Yakiniku Q, sitting next to Tenten and Hinata—who she had grown the closest to in the time after the war, and Sakura, Ino, Karui, and Temari were also with them. The only three that hadn’t started to date any of the boys from Konoha 12 were Tenten, Sakura, and Minori herself.
Though, Minori liked to believe that she was still Neji’s girlfriend, no matter what life took from her.
“So, Sakura-chan, now that Sasuke-kun’s back in town, are you going to try with him again?” Ino asked, placing barbecue down onto the grill.
“No,” Sakura shook her head, earning confused glances from her friends. Even Temari and Karui, who hadn’t grown up with Sakura, were surprised. “I’m pretty much over Sasuke-kun,” she admitted. “It’s nice to have my old teammate back, but those feelings are a thing of the past.”
“What about you, Tenten?” Ino asked, turning her. “Are you interested in Sasuke-kun?”
“No,” Tenten shook her head. “I've come to the conclusion that I’m not too sure I ever want to get married.”
“So, that means Sasuke-kun’s asked out,” Ino sighed. “All the other girls worth his time are all taken.”
She didn’t even dare ask Minori if she was perhaps interested in going for Sasuke. While Minori was able to go out on occasion with her friends and attempt to have a good time, the topic of her dating was still a sore subject. Plus, she refused every single guy that had asked her out, and sometimes, she could be a bit emotionless. She wasn’t entirely changed from the old her, her bubbly personality still existed. She just had her days when the grief was a bit too much.
She refused to let her heart be warmed again.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
“Minori-chan?”
A soft voice was behind her as she walked through the village late at night, flowers in her hand.
When she turned around, she saw Hinata.
“Hina-chan,” Minori said with a warm smile, gripping onto the flowers tighter. “What are you doing out so late?”
“I was going to Neji nii-san’s grave,” she said, her lavender eyes, the same as Neji’s, on the flowers. “Are you, too?”
“Hm,” she nodded.
Hinata walked forward so that she was now next to Minori. Minori’s face was a little hot as she gripped onto the flowers, a tad bit disappointed that she had run into Hinata. It wasn’t that she didn’t like her, but she just preferred to be at Neji’s grave alone. She no longer liked to be so open about her pain in front of other people, even if it was her loved one’s family.
She had grown closer to Hinata and Tenten since the war, finding it easy to connect with each other through their mutual loss of Neji. Though all of Konoha 15, now Konoha 12, felt Neji’s death personally, but those three girls were the ones who were able to get the closest to him, other than perhaps Naruto, who had changed Neji’s perspective on life.
Those three girls; his cousin, his best friend, and his girlfriend.
They had just gotten to the cemetery when they heard a familiar and energetic voice calling out to them.
“Oi! Hina-chan! Mino-chan!”
There was Naruto. Hinata’s cheeks flushed at the sound of her boyfriend, turning around to see him walking. Beside him, contrasting his orange with black, was the infamous Sasuke Uchiha. His expressionless face looked in front of him at the two girls, walking side-by-side with Naruto.
“Naruto-kun!” smiled Hinata as the two girls waited for the boys to catch up.
“Visiting Neji?” asked Naruto.
“Hai,” nodded Minori.
She wished she could leave and go to the grave already, but she knew it would be rude to just leave. As Naruto and Hinata spoke to one another, she glanced at the Uchiha. She had only seen him from afar at the war, where he was legendary. All of the Three Sannin’s disciples were legendary during the war. When he had come back to the village, she hadn’t the chance to see him up close and personal before he embarked on his path to redemption.
He was taller than she remembered him to be. The brat of a genin he had now seemed disconnected. As kids, though he might have had a superiority complex, he also had a personality. He was competitive and full of himself—information she had learned from Naruto, compassionate for his teammates, protective and secretly very loving—information she had heard from Sakura. Even she used to see the amusement in his eyes over his rivalry with Naruto.
And now it seemed like the previous light in his eyes were gone.
But he could say the same about her.
The group of four began to walk towards Neji’s grave together. Minori was sure the awkwardness she felt wasn’t solely her. While Naruto and Hinata were likely not experiencing it, she was certain Sasuke had to be. But she couldn’t read the stoic expression on his face.
At the grave, Hinata began to clean the headstone while Minori arranged her flowers where she wanted them, taking the old, wilted ones she had left there before off.
Wilted flowers… she thought. I still have the ones he gave me…
She had moved them into a shadow box, preserving the flowers themselves without the stems. They now hung in a shadow box in her bedroom.
Naruto’s energetic energy quieted down once they got to the grave, now staring at it with a sorrowful expression. He knew to be respectful at one's grave, but there was also a look of guilt on his face.
Minori looked away.
They were all silent for a while. Minori was clenching the fabric of her pants tight in her hands, her knuckles turning red. Hinata got up to leave, Minori stayed put.
“Minori-chan? Are you going to be staying longer?” Hinata asked softly, bending forward. “Do you want me to stay so we can walk you home?”
It was then that Hinata realized the state Minori was in. The lavender girl’s eyes widened and then softened, tearing away from looking at her with sad eyes. Minori, clenching onto her pants as if she would break if she let go, was looking down with silent tears flowing out of her eyes, biting down on her lip to prevent her from making a noise.
Hinata looked at Naruto, who merely just nodded, and Hinata linked her arm through his. The two of them began to walk away from her, allowing her the time she needed at the grave. Sasuke looked at the situation with a raised eyebrow, not understanding why Naruto and Hinata of all people were leaving the girl at the grave in the state she was in.
Especially at night.
When they got far enough away, Sasuke broke his silence, looking to Naruto as he spoke.
“Is it wise to leave her there?” Sasuke asked.
Naruto and Hinata shared a look, nodding.
“I guess you never got the chance to get to know Mino-chan, huh, Teme?” Naruto pondered. “She’s a strong girl, Sasuke. She prefers it when no one can see her cry.”
“Hn,” he nodded at Naruto’s response, but halted in his steps, turning his body around to face Minori.
Naruto and Hinata stopped abruptly, unsure what it was that Sasuke was doing.
“I’ll stay until she leaves,” he informs them. “Just to make sure nothing happens to her at night, in such a vulnerable state.”
This takes his best friend and his best friend’s girlfriend off guard. Sasuke wanting to watch over Minori? What was all of that about?
Minori had been there for what felt like ages, but it must’ve only been about an hour and a half. Sasuke couldn’t make out her words from where he was, but it sounded as if she was speaking in between the occasional sniffle or sob, and he watched the countless times she brought the sleeve of her sweater up to wipe her face.
She finally got up, and proclaimed words loud enough for even Sasuke to hear, “And I’m still mad at you for leaving me!” She had clenched her fits at her sides as she said this, screaming it into what she thought was an empty cemetery.
Sasuke felt guilty for staying and overhearing that statement. He was unable to understand the severity of her grief. He had never been in love himself, and he had never seen the epic romance that Naruto claimed was Neji and Minori. In the years that he still knew the two of them, Neji was someone he saw as a rival from a grade older than them, meeting him as two prodigy brats back in the Chunin exams. Minori had gone to the academy with them, and seemed to be the only girl other than Hinata who wasn’t constantly trying to tug on Sasuke’s sleeve. Before he left, Neji and Minori weren’t even within the same friend group as one another, let alone lovers.
He missed out on watching them, which according to Naruto, was pretty heartwarming to watch.
“You could really tell how much they loved each other,” Naruto told Sasuke. He had been giving him a massive update on everyone in their friend group, how their lives were while Sasuke was gone. “Even though Neji wasn’t big on PDA or anything like that, you could just tell. When they were around… man, what am I saying? I sound like a hopeless romantic right now. I’m starving, wanna go to Ichiraku’s?”
Minori turned around from the grave, stopping abruptly in her tracks when she saw that the Uchiha had lingered. Her eyes were bloodshot and her nose was red. She felt embarrassed that he was seeing her in such a state.
“Sasuke-san…” she trailed off, walking towards him. She was a big lightheaded from all the crying, but she made it to him safely. Her eyes were also drooping with exhaustion. “Why did you stay?”
“It’s late,” he merely responded.
Minori quirked up an eyebrow at him. Sasuke Uchiha wasn’t one to show he cared about people, let alone about a girl he hardly ever talked to. The only connection Minori really had to Sasuke was that they shared the same precious loved ones.
Sasuke ended up walking her home. The silence was uncomfortable, but they both bared it. Minori was too exhausted to fight him on it, and she had a feeling that once he made a decision, he’d be stubborn about it. It just felt so weird and out of character for her to have him there with her.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
As time passed, all of the remaining members of their friend group began to notice Sasuke and Minori. At group events, he’d sit by her even if Naruto was further from him, and they began to be able to make small talk with one another. Yet another unlikely friendship was beginning to blossom the same way Minori’s one and only relationship had, but this time, no one said anything about it.
Where they had all teased her relentlessly about Neji, they kept their mouths shut and only watched when it came to Sasuke. Was it that she was finding herself in the same situation yet again, just with a different boy?
“Sasuke fits her type,” Tenten said softly, her and Lee watching as Minori left Ichiraku’s, Sasuke trailing behind her. “Almost always emotionless, born of a high prestige clan, was a brat when we were kids,” she listed off the similarities between Neji and Sasuke. “With a troubled past and a soul who had to be saved by Naruto? That describes both him and Neji, right Lee?”
Lee was staring intently as Sasuke walked with Minori. Then, he said—with his normal ferocity, “That wonderfully broken girl seems as if she has found a safe place in someone who may or may not remind her of Neji.”
Tenten looked at him with a cringe on her face, the boy seeming as if fire could be in his eyes. She looked over at Minori, who was now vanishing from view with Sasuke. Would she finally allow herself to move on?

The relationships in Konoha began to get serious despite most of them being barely eighteen. The first one of the group to tie the knot was Naruto and Hinata. Their celebration was beautiful, and Konohamaru went around trying to get a video log of all the different teams congratulating them on their marriage.
Minori didn’t have a team. She was surprised when Team Guy asked her to do the congratulation video with them. She’d never tell them, but she cried later on. She felt embarrassed about it; crying like that when it was supposed to be a happy occasion for Naruto and Hinata. She felt selfish for feeling so alone and sad when she should have been overjoyed for her friends. A part of her was envious of the love they had.
But it warmed her heart seeing the two people Neji laid his life on the line for made it out okay in the end. At least Neji could rest in peace knowing that.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
At the wedding reception, when everyone was mingling and chatting, she found herself standing alone. She was dressed up—even had lipstick on. A small smile was on her face from the liveliness of the event. Naruto and Hinata’s love was beautiful.
She heard footsteps approaching. When she turned around, she saw Sasuke standing there. Her eyes widened, for she thought he had been away on a mission. But she wasn’t too surprised. Of course he’d come back home for his best friend’s wedding.
“Hello, Sasuke-san,” she greeted him, bowing.
Tenten nudged Lee, and the two of them looked over at Minori and Sasuke. Tenten merely nodded in approval while Lee looked analytical of the two of them. They glanced around the party, Tenten making eye contact with Ino, who was standing by Sai. They both were looking at Minori as well, and before long, Tenten realized all of their friends’ attention had moved to them for a moment, before resuming their focus on the newlyweds.
Still, none of their friends said anything.
Hanabi had run up to Minori, a photo of Neji in her arms as she absentmindedly and excitedly talked to the kunoichi. Sasuke watched as Minori’s eyes softened slightly with sorrow when she saw the photo, but covered it with a fake smile at the little Hyūga.
When she had left, Minori’s smile finally dropped. She looked up at Sasuke, and he just wore an everlasting frown in the first place. But she smiled when she looked at him, but the smile was accompanied with furrowed eyebrows, as if she was just remembering a pleasant memory.
He quirked up an eyebrow at her, silently asking her “What is it?” without having to use words.
“I forgot to thank you for leaving the village,” she said bluntly, earning a shocked response from the Uchiha. She waved her hands in front of her, shaking his head. “I don’t mean it like that.” She looked up at the sky, a smile still on her face. “But it was you leaving that brought me and Neji on the mission to rescue you. And it was that mission that brought me and him closer. So, without you, I may have never experienced such a love before. So, thank you. It all started with you.”
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
The breaking point to the silence over the possible connection between Minori and Sasuke was when Minori had ended up in the hospital, and Sasuke, far away from the village on a mission, had rushed back home after hearing about what had happened through messenger birds. He acted calm as he entered the hospital room, but everyone could feel the worry seething off of him.
It wasn’t like he rushed back home whenever any of their other friends got injured on missions. He rarely rushed home when he himself was injured on missions.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
Tenten and Hinata were with Minori at Ichiraku’s.
“So, Minori,” Tenten started out, playing with the noodles in her bowl as she began to beat around the bush. “Anyone peak your interest?”
Minori snorted, slurping away on noodles as she shook her head.
Tenten and Hinata shared a look.
“Not even Sasuke?” Tenten asked boldly, earning a light nudge from Hinata.
All of their friends had agreed to go easy on Minori, but Tenten, who now considered herself Minori’s best friend, wasn’t going to baby her any longer. Not when the only reason she was holding herself back from being in a happy relationship was because she felt guilty about being happy when Neji was dead.
“No!” denied Minori quickly, her cheeks turning a ruby red, and she bent her head over her bowl more, trying to hide herself.
“Neji wouldn’t have wanted this for you,” Tenten said boldly, a sigh in her voice as she made the statement that made the hairs on Minori’s arms stand up.
She looked up abruptly, biting down on her noodles and letting them splash back into her bowl.
“Wanted what?” snapped Minori.
“A life alone.”
“You’ve also decided to be alone.”
“But I’m content with it,” Tenten snapped back.
The two kunoichi stared at each other intently. Their words to each other were sharp and a bit harsh, like they were packing a punch with every pause.
“Tenten-chan…” Hinata said softly, a warning hint in her delicate voice.
Clenching her fists around the fabric of her pants, Minori looked away from Tenten’s eyes into her bowl of soup, seeing her reflection in the broth. “He asked me to marry him.”
Her words were so soft and low, it was almost as if she had never said it. But the other two had caught it, their heads snapping up just a bit, alert and clouded with shock.
“W-what?” Hinata asked.
Minori sucked in and let out a shaky breath.
“Neji,” she said, her voice cracking. She paused, trying to find her voice. “During the war started…” she kept losing her breath as she spoke, something getting choked up in her voice.
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
FLASHBACK TO DURING THE WAR
“I want to marry you,” Neji had said to her, the two of them in a medical tent together.
She had gotten injured, but nothing major. Neji was standing by her after the medics left, telling her she was able to get back onto the battlefield.
“Oh, shut up,” she laughed at his proclamation, thinking he was just joking, and she fumbled with the bandages on her arm..
“I’m serious,” he insisted.
“W-what?” she breathed out, looking up from her arm. On his beautiful face, there was no sigh of it being a joke.
“When the war is over, let’s get married,” he said. “I know you’re only seventeen, and I’m eighteen, but by the time we plan the ceremony, we’ll be eighteen and nineteen. That’s normal for people to get married.”
“What’re you saying?” she asked, even though she could tell he had put a lot of thought into what he had been asking her.
“That I want to be your husband.”
•─────────°❋❀°─────────•
“Why didn’t you tell any of us?!” Tenten asked her. Why didn’t Neji tell her?
“Because of what I said to him.”
“What did you say?” Hinata asked, curious about this proposal her cousin had given Minori.
“I told him I’d answer him when the war was over,” she said, guilt written all over her face. “And that is why I cannot date Sasuke,” she said, standing up. She looked over her shoulder at her friends and said, “Because if Neji was alive, then I’d…”
She shook her head, unable to finish her sentence as she turned to walk away. “I’m sorry, I have to go.”
She took off running despite Tenten and Hinata’s calls for her to come back. It was raining outside, and despite it, she kept on running.
She ended up at Neji’s grave, hunched over with her hands on bent knees, trying to catch her breath.
Staring at the grave, she balled her fists and yelled, “Yes!” A sob stopped her halfway, so she paused before yelling again. “The answer was yes! Yes! I would marry you!” She was screaming so loud, letting the words she had never spoken out loud before. She allowed herself to collapse into the muddied floor, sobbing. “Yes, I want you to be my husband,” she whispered. “But you already knew that.”
She remembered the words Naruto relayed to her in Neji’s final breaths, the words he had told Naruto to tell her. “And he said that even if you didn’t say it, he knows the answer to the question he asked you earlier. And he’s glad to know it was yes.”
Before she knew it, the rain stopped falling over her and a shadow blocked whatever light she had in the first place. She looked up only to see darkness. In the wind, she could hear the flapping of a cape, and the familiar cologne of the Uchiha boy whom her friends wondered if she could end up loving next. The one who she had been spending lots of time with.
The one whom her first love had started because of.
“Sasuke-san?” she questioned, and the cape came off from above her head, and instead, Sasuke took his off, and wrapped it around her.
In his button up that he wore under, one of the sleeves moved with the wind. He stared at her, not saying much. He was not a man of many words. He offered her a hand, and she took it, letting him pull her up.
“I’m sorry,” he said to her, his words genuine.
“It’s not your fault,” she said.
“I’m still sorry that you’re in pain.”
He kept his hand clamped in hers, pulling her behind him as they walked away from the cemetery. She blushed as she wiped her swollen face, tugging his cape closer to her body to keep warm. Tears began to fall again, but this time in appreciation for Sasuke. And perhaps in the slight guilt that she couldn’t deny that she liked being by his side, and it felt like she was disrespecting Neji in doing so.

TWO YEAR LATER
The night before Minori’s wedding—which was later than most of her friends’ due to the fact that she and her future husband still had their own demons they had to figure out while they were just boyfriend and girlfriend—she had a dream.
Everyone was light and warm, and she felt no pain.
She saw the back of someone, their long and shiny hair. Her heart felt like it would burst, and she went running.
“Neji-kun!” she yelled out.
The boy turned around, revealing a beautiful face she hadn’t seen forever. She paused right in front of him, scared if she touched him that he’d break. Tears flowed down her face. He reached a hand out, wiping them away.
“Hello, beautiful,” he said with his loving smile. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
She couldn’t break right there, over the sound of his voice—one she always felt guilty for forgetting from time to time. Looking into his lavender eyes was comforting.
“I miss you so much,” she sobbed, grabbing his hand that was on her face in her own, letting her head tilt into his touch. “You had no idea.”
“I know you do,” he said. “And I miss you, too. But I can wait to see you again.”
“How long will that be?” she wondered.
“As long as it takes for you to start a family, and live a beautiful life full of love,” he responded. “Because that is your destiny, darling.”
“You had a nephew now!” she exclaimed. “He looks exactly like Naruto.”
“Hai,” he said. “Boruto. I check in on them from time to time.”
She hesitated on what to say next, but did it anyway. “I’m getting married tomorrow,” she said, wiping her own tears.
“Hai,” Neji said with a nod and closing his eyes, allowing himself to give her a sorrowful smile. “I know.”
“I’m sorry,” she said. “It was supposed to be to you.”
“It’s quite alright, darling,” he said. “My destiny was different from yours, but I was lucky to know love before I left. And I know you feel guilty, but don’t. I’m happy for you. I hope you know, I envy Uchiha-san. Though, I don’t hate him.”
“Really?” she asked, wanting to know if he was telling her the truth.
“It’s hard not to envy him, when he gets to be the one by your side. But I came to terms with where my life ended when I did what I did. I’m glad it’s Uchiha-san. It’s hard to hate the man who I have to thank for being able to fall in love with you in the first place.”
Her eyes widened, remembering when she made the same connection during Naruto and Hinata’s wedding.
“It all started with him,” Neji said, and he placed a kiss on her forehead. “I’ll be here waiting, but don’t you dare rush to see me again.”

Minori woke up with a jolt, panting from her dream. She looked over at her fiance sleeping next to her, and her heart calmed down a little. She laid on her side, her elbow popping her head up. She played with Sasuke’s hair, shorter than Neji’s, and then cupped his face in her hands. She smiled at the man beside her, knowing she was lucky to have ended up with him.
She kissed his forehead, muttering, “It also ends with you,” before laying herself back down, and drifting off to sleep.

*AUTHOR’S NOTE: Sooo, if you guys think I should make an expanded version that goes more in depth about these events in the form of chapters, lmk!! I loved writing this one, though I definitely got carried away and made it longer than I originally intended for it to be. I’m definitely down to turn this into a full blown series where all the gaps are filled in, so send me an ask if that’s what you want! Especially since the sasuke parts are a bit rushed just bc length.
Also yes, I made it so that Sasuke was at the NaruHina wedding. So what?

konoha’s sublime green beast
10 relationship headcanons for Might Guy
pairing: might guy x reader
a/n: similar vibe to the last relationship headcanons - any suggestions for who to do next would be appreciated.
synopsis: a few tender moments, scenes from your relationship with Guy
warnings: nsfw content for the last few: general sex, fingering, oral.. the standard
The first time you meet Might Guy, you are stunned to silence. He sits with you and the other jōnin at the local bar and shares stories and you are completely hooked. Everything about him entrances you; his vibrancy, the way he speaks, the jumpsuit, the body, the size of his hands... he's so bright and youthful? Anko is the first to spot you staring, and when she drags you to help her at the bar with drinks, she says "oh yeah, Guy is a bit weird, we should have warned you", and in your tipsy state you remember replying "I dunno, he seems kind of cool?" You spend the rest of the night trying to catch his eye and striking up conversations. A few weeks later, he asks you on your first date, and your shoulders shake with laughter when you accept and he cheers something about youth.
Guy goes through his signature jumpsuits at an alarming pace. Sometimes they rip straight through the middle of the crotch, other times they wear through at the thighs, more often than not they simply succumb to the general wear and tear of being a ninja. You take lurid green jumpsuits that develop rips on the arms from being snagged on trees, and thus are no use to Guy anymore, and repurpose them. You cut the top section off and cut the leg just above the knees and wear them around the house with oversized t-shirts and sweatshirts. The upcycled shorts become part of your casual day off outfit, and you take to wearing them when you need to run errands around the village. It’s only right to carry on the Might family tradition in your own way.
Guy loves poetry, so much so it has seeped into his general way of speaking - most people just think it’s his odd turn of phrase, but you know it’s from years and years of devouring any poetry he can get his hands on - especially after Duy’s death. Your tiny shared apartment is filled with poetry books, from every village and spanning centuries. Guy needs reading glasses and has done since his teen years - he can read mission scrolls etc. with little trouble but if he needs or wants to read for more than a few minutes he takes out the gold-rimmed round glasses that live in a basket full of odd bits and pieces that don’t have a true home in the apartment and slips them on. He pushes his hair from his forehead slightly and lies down on the floor to settle into the latest thing he’s picked to read. He keeps a small battered red leather-bound book on his nightstand; it’s a second-hand copy of a collection of Warring States era poetry. Guy scribbles in the margins of all his books, but this one is littered with annotations and underlinings. On rainy nights, while you rest your head on his broad bare chest, Guy will hold you close and read a poem or two from this book to you. Uncharacteristically quiet, measured, and serious, his voice is like honey. When he goes away on long missions, you’ll often find a note resting on top of the book with a page number and line number written on it, you know to save peaking at that passage for a particularly hard moment, when you wish his gentle voice and inspiring words were there to comfort you.
One of the major challenges of being in a relationship with Might Guy is the sheer volume of food he consumes. His strict training regime and huge energy output mean that Guy eats up to 14 meals a day; all carefully nutritionally balanced. So much of both of your free time is dedicated to bulk cooking, preparing bento boxes, dehydrating fruit and vegetables, boiling eggs, steaming fish... Guy appreciates every second you put into helping him with his training and diet. Whenever you both have a free day in the village he hand writes you a note and leaves it in the kitchen with a cup of fresh coffee resting on top inviting you to dinner. Guy always chooses the most comfortable places, with home-style food and free-flowing sake and beers. He insists you order anything and everything you want, reminding you to leave room for dessert. He holds your hand over sticky tables, wearing a T-shirt and standard-issue jōnin trousers, smiling at you widely as you share dumplings and scallion pancakes dripping with black vinegar and chili oil. When you leave the restaurant, completely full, he pulls you into his arms and kisses you deeply, a large tanned hand on the back of your head and his other pulling you into him by the small of your back. You don’t know what makes you feel drunker; the sake, the food, or the depth of his kiss.
After your first few dates, you promised to cook for Guy at your apartment. Already knowing his love of curry, you silently vowed to yourself that you would wean him off that S&B curry roux blocks he always seemed to be purchasing when you ran into him in the village. The first time you cooked him a curry, he leant his hip against your kitchen cabinet, sipping a jasmine tea, and with rapt attention listened to you explain which different spices you'd be using for the curry paste. Guy would explain the medicinal uses for each one as you measured them out, all of them known to him already due to his extensive herbal medicine knowledge. This is the moment you knew that you'd fallen in love, listening to Guy explain to you that to activate the medicinal properties of turmeric, you'd need some fresh black pepper, with Guy showing you the best time to add garlic to preserve the allicin to ward off colds. While he explained to you all the properties, you told him what would work together and what wouldn't, to ensure that the finished curry paste would actually taste delicious and not just be a mash of flavours and chili. When your relationship deepened and you eventually came to share an apartment, a weekly curry night for Team 10 emerged, with Neji, Tenten and Lee sat around your large dining table, eating whatever curry you'd made that week. You sit there, smiling, as Guy explains how each component in the curry will help them become even more splendid shinobi.
At some point, you acquired a small turtle-shaped chalkboard, that hangs from a red ribbon on the handle of one of the kitchen cabinets. In the back of your mind, you think it was originally for reminders, but somewhere along the way, it got commandeered to record the results of Kakashi and Guy's challenges. You remember searching the rubble after Pain's attack to find it, sifting through tattered pages and broken ceramics in the vague hopes that it would be intact enough to save.
It is Hana Inuzuka who holds you tight around the stomach when you see the sky fill red during the 4th Shinobi War. Years ago, Guy had told you that he believed the time would come when he would eventually open the eight gate and that he would become Konoha’s red beast. he told you what would happen, from what he had gathered from the limited research on the topic. That he would burn hot as the sun and his body would disintegrate and he would fill the atmosphere as hot ash. You had sat in stunned silence at the man’s resolve and acceptance. Hana’s firm grip was suffocating around your stomach, and you could feel the eyes of members of the allied forces staring at you as you struggled, screaming. When the Infinite Tsukuyomi takes hold of you, you dream of chubby babies wearing green with pitch-black hair and iron grips, and a sweet uncle with white eyes and flowing clothes.
After the war and Guy’s discharge from the hospital, you find yourselves lost in your relationship. Guy becomes a shadow of himself, constantly encouraging you to leave, to let him wallow in peace, and for a brief few moments, you let yourself think that you could. The strain is unbearable at times, Guy considering himself unable to be your partner and you unable to reach the lightest parts of him. It is the 6th Hokage, Kakashi Hatake’s arrival on your doorstep, a new turtle chalkboard in hand that begins to turn the tide of Guy’s grief, and the pain in your relationship. Each week, Kakashi arrives for tea, and each week he issues a new challenge. It takes 6 months until Guy caves and agrees to go along with the rock paper scissors battle. He wins, 50-47. You mark the turtle chalkboard. Guy: 1, Lord 6th: 0. It hangs in your bedroom, and slowly the board becomes a mottled grey, with old chalk stains and the ghost of numbers. Guy begins training with Rock Lee again. He begins reading poetry again. His appetite climbs and climbs, and in the darkness of the night, he holds your hands and tells you he’s so so grateful you stayed - you are too.
Guy loves giving you head. He licks short wide tongued across your clit repeatedly and waits to hear your breath hitch and feel your hips twitching before he switches his tactic, enveloping your whole clit into his mouth and humming deeply as he licks and sucks, his bottom jaw rhythmically moving until your moans become deeper and longer, his hands pressing your hips into the bed. He loves it when you card your hands through his hair and grind into him. Sometimes he lets you cum like this, hips rising to meet his mouth and your fingers grasping at the sheets crying out his name, other times he edges you by drawing you closer and closer to your climax and allowing two fingers to slowly stretch you out in time with the licks of his tongue. He stops when you’re beginning to feel the pleasurable heat build and build and throws your legs up, moving quickly and lining himself up with your entrance and thrusting into you before your pleasure completely dissipates. He fucks you, giving himself a moment of relief before stopping to continue where he had stopped moments before, head between your legs and eyes looking up at you, dark and heavy, watching your chest brace and your muscles tense, pushing you over the edge in a few minutes, switching back to being inside you before the waves of pleasure have subsided so he can feel the clenching of your muscles around him and bring you quickly over the edge for a second time.
Even within your relationship, Guy has set himself personal challenges. When he is thrusting into you, or his fingers are deep inside you while his thumb rubs circles over your clit and your mouth hangs open, gasping and your hair is sticking to your face as you groan underneath him, overstimulated and hazy, he leans down and whispers into your ear - one more, okay? give me one more.

The group of ninjas ran to Hana’s body after they were free from the barrier that held them back. She was laying in a pool of her own blood. There was a gash on her side. Akito had stabbed her pretty good before Hana was finally able to stop him.
Kakashi was having trouble breathing. Here was his pup on the brink of death because she had to sacrifice her own life to protect everybody else, to protect him. He couldn’t do this.
Gai noticed that Kakashi stopped running with the rest of them.
“Kakashi what’s wrong?” Gai walked towards him. He cupped Kakashi’s face with his hand.
“I can’t do this Gai. I can’t watch her die.” Tears were flowing down his face.
Gai pulled Kakashi’s forehead to his.
“Rival, I know how scared you might be right now. I know I’m terrified right now but we promised when we adopted Hana that we would be with her always. And right now she needs us. So whenever you’re ready, we’ll go over together okay?” Gai held out his hand to Kakashi.
Kakashi took a breath. Gai was right. Their daughter needed them. Kakashi took hold of Gai’s hand and both of them ran towards Hana and the group.
Rin was trying her hardest to heal Hana but the girl’s body was mutilated beyond repair. Hana had already lost so much blood already.
Rin could feel herself getting frustrated. This was no time to lose concentration.
Hana was still conscious surprisingly but she could feel herself slipping away.
“Rin..rin..” Hana’s voice was scratchy.
“Hana! Don’t exert yourself.” Rin was using her medical voice on Hana.
“Rin,,it’s okay. You can stop.” Hana heard the collective cry of dissent from the group surrounding her.
Rin looked at Hana. This went on for a second before Rin relented. The medic went to stand by Obito.
“What’s wrong! Why did you stop?” Kiba was angry.
“Kiba. It’s alright there was nothing more she could do for me.” Hana could feel herself struggling to talk.
Kakashi and Gai moved closer to Hana. They both knelt down by their daughter.
“Hey pup.” Kakashi smiled sadly at Hana.
“I’m so sorry, Kakashi.” Hana was crying.
“No, no darling don’t cry. You have nothing to apologize about okay.” Gai took his daughter’s hand.
“Your Dad is right pup. We’re so proud of you.” Kakashi stroked Hana’s hair out of the way.
“Stay with me.” Hana was scared.
“Always.”
Kakashi’s statement was echoed by the group.
Hana looked at every person. They all became her family in the couple of years she lived in Konoha. And she even got her Suna family back too. She took a few seconds to remember Baki. She would be seeing him soon though.
“Gaara, Kankuro, and Temari. Promise me that you guys will take care of eachother.”
Gaara nodded his head. Tears started to fall from his face. Kankuro gave Hana a look like he would never dare to leave his siblings. Temari held onto Shikamaru’s hand and gave a nod.
“Lee, Kiba, and Shikamaru take care of them and treat them respectfully like I know they’ll treat you.”
The three shinobi’s gave her a salute and went over to console their partners.
“Asuma you better treat Kurenai correctly or I’ll come back and haunt your ass.”
“Don’t you worry, Hana. I got this one.” Kurenai gave a teary laugh.
Hana smiled and continued to talk to the rest of the group. She told Obito and Rin that they better get married. Obito promptly turned red but promised Hana he would. Rin was already crying heavily on Obito’s shoulder, frustrated that she couldn’t save her closest friend.
Next she told Inoichi, Shikaku, and Choza, thank you for being the best adopted uncles a girl could ask for. Hinata and Shino were told to take care of eachother.
Naruto and Kiba were told that they were her best cousins and to tell Aunt Kushina, Aunt Tsume, and Uncle Minato that she loves them.
Hana told Tenten and Neji thank you for all the training practice they give her and she wishes them luck in whatever they decide to do in their future.
Ino and Sakura were told that the sleepovers the three had were probably the best nights of her life. The girls all shared one last laugh.
Hana thanked Choji, Sai, and Rock Lee were told thank you for all the times they went out to eat and the cool restaurants they visited.
Hana gave stern instructions to Sasuke about how to treat Naruto. Sasuke gave her a firm nod.
The Legendary Sannin were individually thanked for not only training Hana to her highest potential but for also being her Grandparents. Something she never had before. Lady Tsunade was ashamed of herself. She was unable to heal Hana because of damage taken in a fight earlier.
Finally there was Genma, Kakashi, and Dad.
“Genma, I really am sorry. I wish.. I just..” Hana wanted to say I love you but it got stuck in her throat.
Genma smiled at her.
“I love you forever and always. And I promise you that we will meet again and it will be like we never left each other.”
With those words, Hana felt like she wanted to stay so bad but the pain in her body was spreading and she knew it could never be.
“I’ll hold you to that promise.”
Kakashi could see the life starting to drain from her eyes. He moved to cradle his daughter against his chest.
Gai moved in front of Hana as Kakashi held her up.
“Dad and Kakashi thank you for being the best parents to me. I love you guys so much and please don’t feel any regret or guilt. This was my choice.”
Hana’s eyes were starting to close.
“It’s alright pup, we’ll be fine. Rest now, you deserve it.”
Just then something enveloped Hana’s body. Something that didn’t feel like Death bringing her home.
Bonus:
The smell of blood everywhere.
People screaming. So tired.
So very tired.
“HANA!”
“HANA!”
Hana sprang up off her bed, throwing the covers off in the process. Her brain was moving at a mile a minute.
There was war. She fought in it. She killed Akito but she was injured badly to the point were she should be dead.
Hana’s hands moved around her body checking for injuries.
so is this heaven?
The room Hana was in looked like a regular apartment. She stood up and walked to the window.
Hana gasped. Outside the sun was shining on an intact Leaf Village. Citizens were walking up and down the streets. Kids were laughing together and playing ninja. There weren’t dead bodies on the ground or destroyed buildings.
She took one step back from the window.
Where am I?

Valentine’s Day
Tenten’s kitchen was a mess. The sink was overflowing with dishes, and the counters were dusted with sprinkles and smeared with bits of melted chocolate.
Tenten popped a tray of chocolates into the fridge and followed the mess to her table, dropping gracelessly into a chair next to Hinata.
“Oh man,” she sighed, and leaned back in her chair. “My stomach hurts from all of that taste-testing we did.”
Hinata laughed.
“Same.”
“At least we got pretty much everyone’s chocolates made. It just sucks that Ino and Sakura had to leave early.”
“I hope the guys like them.”
Tenten watched Hinata pick at a piece of hardened chocolate stuck to the table. Hinata’s body language said what she hadn’t.
“Was there someone else you wanted to make some chocolates for?”
Hinata’s eyes snapped up from the table, wide with shock and embarrassment.
“I… I…”
“Hinata, if you want to make something special for Naruto, we can.”
“I-I mean… wh-what would I e-even…”
She let her words trail off while Tenten reached for the magazine they’d been using for chocolate recipes. She flipped through it until she found the page she was looking for.
“Hot chocolate bombs are pretty popular this year. We could make a few.” Tenten held out the magazine to Hinata, pointing at the photo of a woman’s hand holding a ball of chocolate above a mug of hot milk.
There was a brief pause in their conversation while Hinata skimmed the recipe. She looked back up to Tenten.
“D-do you think he-he’d like that?”
“I think he would. We can make some extras and try them out.”
“O-okay.”
“I bought a mold because I wanted to try them, but when Ino and Sakura said they had to leave early I figured I’d do it another time.”
She picked up the mold and scanned the recipe while Hinata made herself comfortable at the stove, melting down more chocolate.
Tenten gathered up the needed supplies from her pantry and sat back down at the table when Hinata brought over the pot.
They made the molds quickly and put them in the freezer to set faster. Hinata checked on the other chocolates in the fridge, bringing over a few set trays.
“These are done,” she said, sitting down, “should we box them up for everyone?”
“Sure.” Tenten reached for the package of folded boxes and opened it up. Then they carefully assembled and started packing up the many boxes, one for each of the girl’s teammates and their sensei’s. Hinata had also set separate boxes aside for Neji, Hiashi and Hanabi.
“So, have you thought about how you’re going to give Naruto his chocolate?”
Hinata paused, tying a ribbon around a box and shook her head.
“Do you think you could help me?”
“Sure, just let me know how.”
“Well, first…” she sighed, “I feel bad saying this… but please don’t say anything to Neji-niisan.”
Tenten laughed.
“He’d somehow find a way to ruin it, huh?”
 “He-he tries to help… but…”
“He’s too overprotective, I know.” Tenten laid a hand on Hinata’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, I won’t say anything.”
Hinata sighed.
“Thank you, Tenten.”
“No problem, anything else?”
“I… how do I give it to him?”
Tenten finished filling a box and paused to think.
“Hmm… how about we take a little extra time delivering ours and we can walk around the village until we see Naruto and we can make it seem like we just bumped into him.”
While still very clearly unsure of Tenten’s plan, Hinata nodded and they continued their work.
Once all was said and done, Tenten and Hinata looked across a freshly cleaned kitchen and six perfect looking hot chocolate bombs.
A pot of milk was warming on the stove, and two mugs waited patiently on the counter.
They each took a mug and placed a ball inside. When the milk was ready, Tenten poured some into each cup. The chocolate melted quickly and clusters of mini marshmallows popped up to the surface. They stirred together the mixture of chocolate, cocoa powder and other sweet fillings and drank.
“Oh wow, that’s really good!”
Hinata put her mug down after Tenten.
“It really is,” she agreed.
“There’s four left,” said Tenten, “do you want to give them all to Naruto?”
Hinata took a moment to take another sip of cocoa and shook her head.
“Two will be enough. Besides, if I took all four you wouldn’t have any to give.”
Tenten felt her face flush.
“Wait, I don’t-“
Hinata cut her off with a knowing look.
“Tenten, if I can be brave, so can you.”
Tenten glared at the two remaining hot chocolate bombs.
Hinata had left them behind for her, knowing full well who she thought Tenten should give them to.
She’d slipped out quietly, carrying a bag with Sakura and Ino’s finished chocolates to drop off.
“He’ll be receptive,” she said before closing the door.
And suddenly Tenten was left alone, having been lectured about bravery by Hinata, of all people.
This time when her stomach turned it wasn’t from all of the chocolate she’d consumed that morning.
—
Tenten’s bag was heavy on her shoulder as she left her apartment the next morning to meet Hinata in town.
She’d never been unnerved by Valentine’s Day before.
She dug her fists into her coat pocket and headed out into the February cold.
Hinata and Tenten found Naruto right away. Hinata seemed to know exactly where to find him. Tenten was more surprised to learn that one could stomach ramen for breakfast than how Hinata seemed to know his schedule.
They stepped into the ramen stand and acted surprised to see Naruto at the counter.
“Oh hey Naruto!”
He looked up from his bowl and grinned.
“Tenten, Hinata! What brings you here?”
“We’re looking for Lee, have you seen him?”
Naruto shook his head.
“Bummer. Well, Happy Valentine’s Day anyway.”
“Thanks, you too!”
Tenten elbowed Hinata whose face turned an entirely new shade of red before she reached into her bag for the package of hot chocolate bombs and bowed her head, holding it out to him.
“Ha-happy V-Valentine’s D-Day, N-N-Naruto-kun.”
Tenten smiled when his face lit up.
“Wow Hinata! These look amazing!” He snatched the box up and inspected the chocolates.
“They’re hot chocolate bombs,” said Tenten, “heat up some milk and drop one in.”
“Woah. I can’t wait to try this! Hinata, do you want to try them together?”
“To-together?”
Tenten grabbed Hinata’s arm to steady her, answering for her.
“Later, we have to drop off the rest of our chocolate, right Hinata?”
She didn’t answer.
“Naruto, maybe Hinata can come to your place this evening?”
“Sure!”
“Great, it’s a date!”
“D-d-date?” Hinata mumbled, as Tenten pulled her away from the ramen stand.
After a bottle of water and several encouraging words of reassurance, Tenten parted ways with Hinata.
Butterflies danced in her stomach as she set her sights towards Team Three’s training grounds.
Lee greeted her bursting with energy.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Tenten!”
She rolled her eyes at his subtlety, before reaching into her bag to hand him a box.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Lee.”
“Sakura-chan gave me some chocolate too! I think we’re in love!”
Tenten sighed, wondering if asking Sakura to give Lee some chocolate had been a mistake, even if it had been a well intentioned one.
“I don’t know if I’d go that far, Lee, but it’s nice to hear she thought of you.”
Tenten gave Gai his chocolate next, earning a crushing hug and praise of her culinary skills.
She dropped down to the ground by Neji and handed him his box last, the rest of his chocolate burning at her side. She would give it to him when they were alone.
“Thank you, Tenten,” he said quietly. Her heart fluttered as she tried to quell the wave of heat creeping up her neck.
“Don’t mention it.”
Neji carefully opened the box and studied the chocolates before holding it out to her.
“Would you like one?”
“They’re yours.”
He shrugged.
“And I’m choosing to share.”
“I shouldn’t,” she said, reaching for a salted caramel chocolate.
She took her time savoring it, the mix of sweet and salty bursting over her tongue while Neji selected one for himself and put the box in his backpack.
They both leaned back against a tree and watched Lee and Gai hype each other up.
“Neji! Tenten!” Gai yelled, “let’s do 5,000 laps around Konoha on our hands!”
“Absolutely not,” said Tenten.
“But hearty exercise is essential if we’re going to be eating a bunch of chocolate!” added Lee.
“We’re going to spar,” said Neji.
“Ah, most youthful!” Gai exclaimed. “Come, Lee, the village calls us!”
And the green pair fell into handstands and headed into town.
“Thank goodness,” Tenten said.
“Mm.”
But then the relief was gone. That little rumble of accent that hummed in Neji’s throat threw her back on edge.
They were alone.
Tenten fiddled with the hem of her bag, daring herself to reach in for the remainder of Neji’s gift, but she couldn’t bring herself to.
“If there’s something you’d like to tell me, you should go ahead.”
Tenten fumbled with her bag. Despite knowing him and how well he could read body language she wanted to ask how he knew.
Instead she reached her hand in and gripped the box.
“I have something else for you.” Her face burned. Neji looked at her, confused at first before realization passed over his face.
She pulled the box out and pushed it into his hands.
“It’s nothing special, just something extra I had.”
He looked down at the box, studying it carefully, just as Naruto had.
“They’re hot chocolate bombs,” Tenten mumbled.
“Did you make these?”
She nodded.
“For me?”
Her stomach flipped and her mind reeled, searching frantically for any excuse.
“Like I said… it was…”
She stopped, feeling his hand over her own.
“Thank you.”
She spread her fingers, letting Neji lace his own between hers.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Neji.”

How do you headcannon a threesome with neji and tenten?
…………… Is it hot in here? No? Just me? Okay. Anyway..
You are speaking my language anon. I… god, I… Okay. This got looooong. #sorrynotsorry
I’m gonna try really hard not to project my own fantasies onto this…
*NSFW under the cut*
I think it would be you & Tenten who suggest it to Neji. Tenten is pretty chill, and she’s the sweetest thing ever. We stan. I can see her being the person who brings it up or agrees when you do.
She’s gonna have to be the one to bring it up to Neji, though. She knows how he’ll take it badly, so she preps you for the worst.
He’s shy about any sexual matters, so he’s gonna do what he does best: freak out, and run away.
He’s also redder than a little chili pepper.
Mostly because he’s surprised he liked the idea as much as he did.
Tenten warned you that he’d flee, though. Neither of you were surprised.
It wasn’t your goal to get an answer, though. Your goal was to simply plant the idea in his head.
The next part is the fun part of convincing him.
You guys always hang out, so it’s not hard.
Tenten might suggest swimming in the lake instead of going for a hike. You might suggest a picnic instead of going to Ichiraku. You and Tenten will strategically pick your outfits to show off.
It was fun to play with him a bit. Both of you had noticed Neji’s lingering glances and slight blushes even before you brought up the idea.
It doesn’t help him that he’s been thinking about it NONSTOP since the words came out of Tenten’s mouth.
It was a week before he broke.
You’re on a picnic. Tenten’s head is resting in your lap. You’ve taken down her braids and buns to play with her locks. She looks more beautiful than any girl in the world. Her brown eyes sparkling like all of the stars in the sky. She’s opted for a sundress instead of her usual boxy blouse and pants. She looks like an angel, and you’re all heart eyes while you wave flowers into her hair.
*insert that screencap of her watching Lee train*
Cherry, your crush on Tenten is showing.
And Neji is staring like a dork because both of you are so attractive. He wants to kiss the both of you so badly.
It’s been quiet for a while, but he’s the one to break the silence.
“This idea of yours that you brought up last week. Why did you ask me?”
Tenten’s grin makes way for a mischievous smirk & you mirror her expression.
After you chat about it a little, you make your way back to the place you & Tenten share to spare the Hyuga compound’s ears.
So, you welcome Neji back, make some tea, and start discussing.
And he’s nervous, but Tenten and you explain that he can say no at any time, but if it’s something he wants, then that’s okay too.
The more he sees how calm and accepting the two of you are, the more relaxed he becomes.
He goes from nervous to relaxed to eager.
Like, boy literally asks, “So, which way is the bedroom?”
You’re just taken aback by his forwardness. Tenten is the one who says, “Whoa, we don’t have to do this right now. We figured you’d want some time to mull things over. We don’t have to do it now if you don’t want to.”
However, Neji assures you two, “Believe me, I’ve thought about this enough, and I want to.”
And after a bit more clarification, you end up in the bedroom in the late afternoon.
All three of you want to drag it out as long as possible.
It tarts off with you making out with Tenten, Neji kissing her shoulder from behind.
She starts pumping him in her hand while your hands start playing with her breasts.
Neji ends up eating her out while you watch and play with yourself for Tenten to watch.
Tenten is telling him what you’re doing, and you’re telling Neji how to drive Tenten crazy.
Neji is grinding against the mattress when Tenten comes, and you’re not far behind when she tells you both to stop once she comes down from her high.
You end up riding her face while Neji fucks her, all of you dragging out each other’s pleasure.
When you kiss Neji, you can taste Tenten on him, and you can’t take it anymore despite the coil knotting in your stomach.
You have to have her for yourself, so you switch positions again.
Tenten is against the headboard while you’re between her legs like you’ll never get the opportunity again, and that’s when the pace picks up.
Neji is working himself watching you when Tenten gives him the idea to fuck you from behind.
It doesn’t take you long to cum with Neji inside you and Tenten tugging on your hair.
The vibrations from your moans also send Tenten over the edge again, and between the two of you hitting your highs, Neji isn’t far behind.
He comes inside you with a final thrust & the three of you collapse in a heap of limbs.
After you cleaned up, you’re all lying in bed.
You’re the one to wonder, “So… when are we doing this again?”
Tenten laughs & says “If it’s up to me, as soon as possible.”
Neji is like… floored?
Like… both Tenten and you are okay with doing this again?
He’s definitely here for it.
This becomes a regular occurrence.
You three end up dating.
Y’all cute.
Are you sure it’s not really hot in here? Just me still? Alright. Okay.

Neji is Alive
A recapitulation of the construction of the best and most climatic moment in all of Naruto. That moment. Obviously a one hundred-percent real, not at all fake build up to the one moment every Naruto Fan was waiting for. Truer than true, best of the best. More canon than NaruRamen, here it is my recapitulation of that moment.
Seeing there is no further need to stretch the presentation and, without further ado, let’s get into it...
But before: DISCLAIMER! Please don’t take it personal. I am not that idiot to belive I could do a better manga than Kishimoto. All my respects to him and all of those who think differently. I am just a gen z scribbling nonsense about 2D characters so, yes, I am lame. (believe it!)
After the Neji vs Hinata fight the heiress of the Hyuga’s has a moment of self-reflection about herself and her identity as a part of the most fucked-up clan of Konoha. She had always been subject and victim of the clan’s structure and deemed as unable of fulfilling the roles that she was destined to fill up as a member of the primary branch.
She also understood that it was Neji, her cousin, who had it the worst when it comes to the configuration of the clan and, seeing how much it affected both of them and to limits they were able to reach she can’t hold it back any longer.
She finally is able to voice and externalize all those thought and now there is no turning back. She can’t turn a blind eye on the situation. She can’t longer see herself as the victim, nor wants to be seen as someone weak cause she knows the power she has given she is from the primary branch and is willing to capitalize that privilege in order to turn things around.
Motivated by Naruto’s Ninja way “never run away or give up on your word” she decides that she’ll work as hard as she is able to be a competent leader of the Hyuga Clan and convince people of a change.
However, she knows she can’t do it alone. Despite being born from the primary branch her softness and passiveness had always been an impediment to be a great shinobi. Even though she was, on paper, supposed to be a great kunoichi she had never been one of practice. She knows she’ll need of Neji if she wants to reach her full-potential. ]
Before the finals of the Chunin Exams she tries to talk o him in order to ask for him to train her but obviously Neji, being the bitchy genius he was at the time, doesn’t even listen to her. For obvious reasons, he doesn’t want to know anything of her.
However, this doesn’t demotivate Hinata. If she couldn’t convince Neji through words she’ll have to do it by her actions, after all that was people like Naruto did,  so she starts training by herself.
After his match against Naruto and his talk with Hiashi, Neji sees Hinata training and offers her some help. Obviously Hinata accepts it and they start creating their cousin bond. They both quickly realize that they are both victims of the corrupted structure of the Hyuga Clan and that, if they wanted to change something, they needed each other. They would have to work together, not as member of the primary and secondary branch but as one entity, as cousins.
Hence, their bond and care for each other is not due that it was the fricking duty and destiny of one to protect each other but because they genuinely care for each other.
Neji trains Hinata and she becomes way stronger than anyone ever thought her capable of, to the extent than when the war breaks many of the elders of the Hyuga Clan think of her as a competent candidate to lead the clan during battle. All except her father, who still has some skeptisim about her daughter’s capability.
However, this isn’t voice by Hiashi as Hinata declines the role saying that, she not only has a lot to learn but that Neji fits the role much better than her. After all, if he was able to help her all through this years to be the best shinobi out of her capabilities she was sure that he’ll do the same for the rest of the Clan during war.
At war Naruto is attacked and Hinata jumps forward to protect him. However, Neji who is nearby seeing the desperation in his cousin’s eyes and fearing that she’ll do something reckless jumps in between her and Naruto protecting them both.
He does the Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven and deflects all the spikes coming towards him. Or so he thinks. He can’t see it but a he is being attacked in his blind spot. Before the target reached him, Hiashi intercedes and saves Neji of an instant death.
This wouldn’t be only Hiashi’s redemption but also a metaphorical redemption of all the Clan’s primary branch.
As his last words he says sorry to Hinata and thanks her for having taught him as his daughter, the most important lesson he has ever receive. True strength comes from, dedication, care and love. She is the best heiress and daughter the Hyuga Clan and he could ask for and names her the head of the Hyuga Clan.
As his last action he asks Neji to come nearer him and removes him from the curse seal. However Neji says he’ll always be there for Hinata, cause it isn’t the seal that bound them together but their bond as cousins.
Here Hinata would display her growth as character. She isn’t the shy little girl she once was but a fully capable woman that is capable to lead due to her emotional intelligence. Yes, she is sensible and caring but that are the traits that allow her to be the leader her clan is in need. Someone that can understand and be sensible to the emotions but that also has the strength to keep on moving foward.
This would also he Naruto’s ‘aha’ moment. She had said to him during Pain’s Attack to Konoha that she looked up to him but he has never been able to see her in those eyes till know. Even when heartbroken she has the strength to keep on moving, knowing that is what the others need of her. It was truly admirable. But, hadn’t she always been like that? Hinata was always one of those people to put others needs before her, to be there for him whenever she needed. Obviously, she had grown into someone more capable and confident of herself but the core is still the same. She was always the one.
It’s now him who is looking up to her. After all, she had been able to stay true to their share ninja way. She had never ran away of gave up on her word and had done it all holding on to that core values that made her, her. But he isn’t about to be left behind. He wanted to walk alongside her, in their ninja way.
After the war, when things are finally settling down Hinata questions herself if she’ll be able to fit the shoes of the Clan’s Leader and tells Neji that she thinks the he or Hanabi would be much better options for the role. However, Neji gives her his full support and ensures her that he’ll be there to help her as his right hand, not because there is a tradition that say that should be so but because he truly believes in her and is eager to be part of this new era for the Clan.
They finally are able to ban the Hyuga’s Curse Seal. It is removed from all members of the second branch and it is strictly prohibited to be placed upon new borns.
Neji takes the role of Jonin Commander of Konoha and, some years after the war marries Tenten with whom he has a son/daughter named Ren. This name, besides being unisex, means lotus which symbolizes purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth (obvious metaphor and a little nod to Hizashi). They are the first child of the second branch no to never be sealed.
Neji lives a long-lasting life as a proud father, beloved husband, supportive cousin, dear friend and trusted leader.
The End.
Okay, so if you reached this point and you are like, I had already seen this post (?) let me explain. I edited a tag of this post in my phone and it went completely blank. So yeah. I got to do it all over again cause obviously I got no back-up. Shit. F for me. But hope you enjoyed it. Kudos!
