Regarding Batman and Responsibility: A Rant

So, whenever there is talk about the age old question of "Should Batman kill Joker?" there is always, and I mean always someone who says something along the lines of: "But it's not Batman's responsibility to kill Joker so it's wrong to put the burden onto him." and on the surface this seems like a reasonable argument. After all, there is a police department in gotham, there is a government, so shouldn't we hold them accountable as well? Well, not exactly.

(Warning: I probably mispelled responsibility and responsible a LOT in this post, please don't begrudge me for it.)

Of course, those institutions ARE responsible for the Joker to some degree but the real question, to me, is: why is Batman considered as "NOT responsible" when he very much is.

People who make this argument usually say: "Well Batman is a volunteer, a vigilante! This is practically none of his bussiness." And true, Bruce isn't required to be a vigilante, he does it entirely out of his own volition. But is that not the whole reason why he IS responsible? I mean, Bruce is the one who CHOSE to take up that responsibilty, he is the one who CHOSES to shoulder that burden. In that sense he isn't that different from a government official/cop/etc. those people do it of their on will too don't they? Bruce, day after day, year after year, choses to fight for Gotham, to protect it and its people; he takes those responsibilities onto himself and yet... stopping Joker somehow, isn't one of them?

In my opinion, it is hypocritical. Bruce is the one who says things like "Gotham is MY city" or "I don't allow metas in Gotham, you need MY permission." or "You can't operate as a vigilante in Gotham without my say-so."(Stephanie Brown, anyone?) he routinely describes his vigilantism as a "war on crime"(which, yikes) and calls it a "crusade" and says it is his "mission" no? He chooses to do these things all on his own, no one forces him to. At a certain point, it's a matter of integrity. He can't pick and choose what exactly constitutes to protecting Gotham and what doesn't. He can't decide that beating up muggers in the streets is extremely important and is his job while improving Arkham isn't. He can't decide that, despite putting Joker in Arkham over and over again knowing he's going to escape, he isn't at least partly responsible for Joker's future victims. He can't keep stopping people from killing Joker(Under the Red Hood, hello!), saving Joker from the death row, putting Joker into a Lazarus Pit, or saving him from natural disasters(because you KNOW he would) and then claim "Oh, but killing Joker isn't my responsibility." He can't willingly claim responsibility for Gotham in every other scenario, EXCEPT for that. That's just having your cake and trying to eat it too. Unless he decided that by saving Joker he is not actually harming Gotham, by allowing Joker to live he is actively NEGLECTING his mission, his duty. And anyway, I thought the whole point of superhero comics was that people with power to better things shoud use those powers to do exactly that. Batman DOES have the power to "better" Gotham, he just isn't using it.

"Killing Joker isn't Batman's responsibility." No, it is. Because protecting Gotham and its people IS his responsibility, as he took it onto himself. If he didn't want to deal with the consequences of such a thing then he shouldn't have become a vigilante in the first place.

Mind you, this doesn't mean he's the ONLY one responsible, far from it, just that he is.

(I genuinely don't remember whether I made a post on this before but I have ranted about this to myself outloud when alone multiple times and if I have to think about this so do you)

Honestly? One of the reasons I can't wait for the illegal terrorist watchlist to be exposed, specifically the name of every Non-Investigative Subject (TI) to be made public, is so some T.I.'s will finally shut the hell up about trying to prove their credibility while also going out of their way to disprove other T.I.'s credibility 😅😏🙄 I mean, come on already 😑

I've been spending more time advocating on certain social media platforms, and have come across more than one T.I. going out of their way to try and prove they're legit, OR trying to prove someone else is fake. Some of them have full out wars going on with each other and I happen to stumble across it in my newsfeed and it's like, "Are you serious right now? THIS is what you're choosing to devote your time and energy towards in this war?" And then you have those who criticize others with the same mindset as I have towards the issue, with the whole, "You're stupid enough to believe everyone who calls their self a T.I.," argument. Honestly, I peep stuff like that and understand greatly why organized harassment and perps in general are so successful while we as a T.I. community are not. It all depends on what you choose to focus your energy on; harassers focus their energy on trying to make us miserable. Too many T.I.'s spend their energy on proving themselves and disproving others. Maybe I'm just mature minded, but I'm not gonna devote my time and energy into trying to prove I'm what I say I am, nor am I gonna waste time trying to figure out who's a phony and who isn't. What everyone seems to forget: the bulk of the T.I. community is based online, so how are you going to know without a doubt who's who in the first place? I could see if it was in person, or if someone claiming to be a T.I. is trying to get close to you online, then fine. Stuff like that is when you should start considering credibility so you don't get burned/played. However, too many T.I.'s make it their personal mission to go after other T.I.'s they deem as fake often out of sheer bias. For example, I've seen it where if you have a difference of opinion/beliefs with another T.I., that T.I. will then block you and then go on a crusade on their pg bashing you out to all their followers. So basically, not being a kiss ass not only gets you on the bad side of other T.I.'s., but it also opens up yet another smear campaign about you, this time from the very ones who should be standing united WITH you, not against you. Pure ridiculousness. Some like to boast that we are a very united community when in actuality, there is far too much division among us. Now that I've narrowed down who my enemies are (the govt), my fight is geared almost entirely against them. Not other T.I.'s. And if we ALL had that same mindset instead of pussy-footing around, we'd no doubt become a force the govt would think more than thrice about going against. I'm not saying there are no fake T.I.'s out there, there are. But why waste so much time on them? If you believe you are absolutely right about a person being an imposter, keep your distance from them and KEEP MOVING! I mean, what do you do if another T.I. is to claim YOU'RE a fake? Obsess over them for the rest of your time in this war? Smh. I've had people imply the same about me. So what? I know I'm legit, if someone else feels they cannot accept that, it's THEIR personal problem, not mine. Im not about to make damn near my every post on social media about them. Next!

Guido Mista

Mista first noticed it by watching it by far, but not in a creepy way. It would happen from time to time when walking by the streets, going out of Libeccio's, sometimes even during missions. Random people showing up to you and talk to you. They seemed excited. He didn't care since they must have been a friend of yours or someone you know.

Mista was quick to get that something was going on. Those situations started to get his attention even more. And it was after being approached by a fan while you two were walking around Italy, that he asked:

"Who are those people?"

As you answered that they were fans, everything started to make sense for him. That was why people would appear and start doing a bunch of questions; that's why people would ask you to sign their items.

Mista's face was a mix of shock and happiness. Damn, his S/O is famous!

After knowing that those were fans, the man would get jealous and a bit protective. He would keep you close to him more often, especially when fans came near you. At the same time, it could be a fan, could also be a stand user.

Soon Mista would back off a bit. Getting a bit more relaxed when fans came near you, he wouldn't interact with them very much and would just stand there (like🧍‍♂️) until it was over.

Guido would always brag to the gang about dating someone famous. He would always talk about how he is the only one dating there, and even better, Y/N, A.K.A His S/O is famous! (He would say it while pointing at you). He would also joke about using your fame as a weapon.

"don't laugh at me! if I tell y/n that you did this, you are done"

In missions where a distraction is needed, Mista would always say that you are a good volunteer, even if you already have another role.

"But Mista, Narancia is going to distract, and y/n is going to attack the stand use-"

"Have you seen how many fans y/n have??"

In situations where it gets too much and fans start invading your privacy, Mista is quick to reassure you that nothing bad will happen since he will be taking care of you.

In those times, Mista acts more like your bodyguard. Always having a hand around your shoulder/waist to make sure you feel safe, and to know that he is there.

When fans come up in moments like this, if you let Mista, he will answer in a friendly tone to the fans that you don't want them approaching you by now. If they resist for too long, Mista is willing to fight them.

What makes Mista angrier are the creepy, the ones who are constantly invading your privacy and stalking you. Like I said before, he is willing to fight them.

Polnareff wouldn't take as long as Mista to ask you about what's going on.

Like Mista, I believe polnareff would think they were some of dio's subordinates, doing a strategy to attack the group.

He would get jealous. After the 2/3 time fans approached you, he quickly proceeded to ask you who those people were.

As you explained to him that they were fans and that you were famous, he would get in shock.

"How you decided to enter the trip being famous?!?!"

After knowing you are famous, polnareff would be happy that you are so loved and appreciated by so many people, but at the same time, he would feel a bit insecure and jealous.

Polnareff would constantly be overdramatic about you loving more your fans than you love him. Even though it seems that is just for comedic purposes, he still feels like this is a possibility. What if your fans make you feel more loved than he does?

Whenever a fan approached you, he would get protective. And stay there in a creepy way.

(You know that scene where the crusaders go to the back and drink altogether? And their eyes are all black? that's him when a fan approaches you.)

Unlike Mista, it would take him quite long to let his guard down and relax. But, after letting his guard down, it would be completely different. He would be the most encouraging boyfriend ever, sometimes even chatting with your fans if they took the initiative.

If fans asked for pictures with both of you, Polnareff would do the best poses.

He isn't the type to brag about you being famous to the other crusaders. The most he would do is to tell stories and things that he presented when fans approached you.

What most angers him is when you two are out, during special and romantic moments and fans interrupt it. It makes polnareff furious, usually making him talk in an aggressive tone, and telling the fan to go away.

If instead of Knight Commander, Valerius was a possible option as companion for the Knight Commander themself, how do you think he'd get involved in the Crusade, would he have a personal quest, and would he leave depending of the KCM's choice of Mythic Path?

Okay this got kind of long, thanks for giving me something to chew on.

Recruitment & Personal Arc:

You'd get him in act 1, after the Grey Garrison attack - so around level 4 or 5. With those levels all being in the Judge archetype for inquisitor with the Death domain. Most notably, he does not carry a scythe upon recruitment, instead having a proficiency for bastard swords. Leader background, Urgathoa as his deity, Lawful Evil, Svetocher Dhampir.

(Once you've recruited him, you can ask him why he doesn't carry a scythe despite it being his goddess' holy weapon (DC 15 Religion check) and he'll respond with "carrying a scythe around in a city crawling with demon cultists is the surest way to end up on the pyre. And for now, I would rather lay low if possible.")

Valerius' growth would be difficult to replicate as a companion arc because it's primarily internal and derives from being the protagonist. Take that away, and I don't think it would be nearly as good. So, I put the following forward:

It would instead have something to do with him trying to hunt down a certain target that he chased all the way from Caliphas to Kenabres (one of his original reasons for being in the area to begin with) and by the end of his arc, in act 5, the target reveals that he is a former brother-in-faith to Valerius - someone who he considered a close friend - and was sent to hunt him down after he converted to Pharasma to atone for his sins. The Commander can choose to let the Pharasmin go - which will trigger Valerius being furious with the Commander, and letting them know the only reason he's staying in the crusade is because he's a man of his word; allow Valerius to kill him and therefore fulfil his mission; or with an extremely high diplomacy check, convince Valerius to let him go for the sake of their past friendship.

He can't die on his companion questline, at least not by the Commander's hand. There is an opportunity, however, to turn him over to Prelate Hulrun in act 3 when Hulrun mentions that he is suspicious of some of their companions. This would be a chaotic alignment shift, as Valerius would see it as the Commander betraying him (similar to how handing Camellia over to Anevia in act 3 after saying she can continue the rituals etc is a chaotic action) unless the PC is a Pharasmin, then it is a lawful alignment shift.

Mythic Paths:

He would be most in favour of Lich, Legend and Devil - Lich for obvious reasons as a devotee of Urgathoa, Devil because of matching alignments, and Legend because he would applaud the Commander's decision to become the master of their own fate.

He'd be neutral on Aeon, Angel and Dragon; would disapprove of the Commander being an Azata; would consider the Demon path to be too risky; and would leave if the Commander confirmed Trickster or became the Swarm.

Companion Interactions:

Pretty sure it would go without saying that Valerius would get along best with Regill, Camellia and Greybor. He appears to tolerate Nenio's experiments and questions, if only for his own amusement; he would only be openly antagonistic towards Daeran, but it's clear from banters he would not trust Arueshalae (while ascending - if she fully ascends, he apologizes to her for not taking her at her word. If she returns to her demonic roots, he'll just be like "why fight against your nature?") and with Woljif there would be banters that suggest Valerius uses Woljif's thiefling connections to get hold of luxury items from back home.

If neither were romanced and both of them are alive, there would be a couple of party banters that would confirm that Valerius and Camellia have definitely had sex - including one banter between Camellia and Nenio about the bitemarks on her neck. If the Commander romanced him, there'd be a similar banter about bitemarks on their neck between Nenio and Valerius.

Romance:

Valerius is bisexual, and therefore he would be open to a relationship with a Commander of any gender, but obviously he would mesh best with someone on the law or evil axis.

My concept for this romance would be the lady/knight, but make it Evil. He also wouldn't have sex with them until act 5 ("a chaste Urgathoan? Never thought I would see that." / "I am far from chaste, Commander, but I do prefer take relationships seriously and slowly. My mother raised a gentleman after all.")

Not sure on much of it (except for a Lich specific thing, mentioned down below), but a non-Lich Commander and Valerius could get engaged at the end of act 5 providing they reached true romance status.

Would refer to a Commander who successfully romanced him as 'my love'.

A true romance epilogue would be Valerius taking the Commander to Caliphas to meet his family - something he's never done before.

Special Lich Romance Content:

If the Commander is a Lich and they successfully achieved true romance status with him - then he will volunteer himself for the sacrifice in the Death's Embrace mythic quest.

He will acknowledge to the Commander that he knows what they must do, and he will not stand in their way. In fact, he has long since accepted that this might be required of him, but it is okay, as Urgathoa and Naderi share the belief that love can persist beyond death.

If the Lich did not get true romance status with him, then Valerius will be reluctant to be sacrificed even though he is faithful to Urgathoa, and he will remain dead.

If the Lich did get true romance status with him, then after the Commander has left Drezen, completed a mission and then returns to the citadel, the Pillar of Skulls will notify them that Valerius can become a member of the Graveguard. The Commander will then regain him as a companion, and while they cannot continue their romance, he will remain utterly devoted to them. He will remain a death domain Judge.

So, I'm kinda new to Cookie Run, so I don't know a whole lot about the characters inpirations and all that so I hope you don't mind me asking, but what's up with Milk Cookie's design? I've seen people say it's problematic but no explanation on why it is, and I just feel a little lost and dumb lol

It’s okay! You’re not dumb! I’m happy to explain. I’m going to put this under a readmore because there’s… a lot wrong with him and his design. I’ll put a summary before the readmore in case you don’t want details.

TL;DR: Milk Cookie’s appearance, being likely based on the Crusaders and having motifs similar to the Iron Cross used by the Nazis, is antisemitic. Milk Cookie talks down to people of color and also destroys their property without their consent, even if he does not mean it in a malicious way. All of his actions are played off as cute or a joke, which is racist because it makes a white man seem like he can’t be blamed for things he did which were legitimately wrong and meanwhile makes the people of color he harasses seem like the ones who did something wrong. His contrast with Purple Yam Cookie in his release update and the other Cookies he meets is also outright racist, even if not intentional.

Disclaimer: I’m not Jewish or a person of color, so my opinions on Milk Cookie’s design as it relates to how it’s antisemitic or his character as it relates to him being racist are not important. You should consult Jewish people and/or people of color for their own opinions on Milk Cookie above all else. The things I’m about to list out are what I’ve heard from Jewish Cookie Run fans, people of color who play Cookie Run, or other minority groups sympathetic to Jewish people who have expressed their concerns about Milk Cookie’s design.

His appearance:

Milk Cookie’s physical appearance is a major problem for many people because it brings up antisemitic imagery. He is likely based on a paladin from Dungeons and Dragons, since Purple Yam Cookie and Mala Sauce Cookie are also based on Dungeons and Dragons classes. Paladins draw their imagery from the Crusaders, which is an antisemitic group from European history that claimed their religion was a valid reason to murder and oppress Jewish and Muslim people. Milk Cookie not only looks like a Crusader, but religion is a major theme in his design. The crosses, white clothing, and the fact that he is associated with Milk Angel all imply this. His story also says he is on a “divine mission” to bring peace to all Cookies, but a religious mission like that sounds dangerously close to the mission of the Crusaders. The crosses on his shield and mace are, as I already stated, also very visually close to Iron Crosses.

While all of this was likely not intentional on Devsisters’ part, it still brings these kinds of associations to mind. This is why many Jewish people in particular are uncomfortable with Milk Cookie’s design and do not like to see him or talk about him. It does not help that he is always smiling and has rosy cheeks, as it makes him seem “cutesy” and “trustworthy” compared to a character like Purple Yam Cookie, who always scowls and has slashes on his face and chest.

His character and actions:

Milk Cookie’s character is racist in that it makes him, a white man, seem automatically more likable and good as a person than any person of color he meets by virtue of how the story portrays his actions and the people around him. From his debut, he has always been portrayed as a “kind”, “gentle” person who does nothing wrong. Even when he verbally and physically threatens Purple Yam Cookie despite Purple Yam Cookie not threatening him at all, he faces no repercussions for it. Later, he stalks Purple Yam Cookie even after Purple Yam Cookie tells him to leave him alone. Rather than being punished for this creepy behavior, he gets defended by Purple Yam Cookie from a giant Jellyworm and later stays at Purple Yam Cookie’s camp (once again, against Purple Yam Cookie’s will). Later, Purple Yam Cookie nearly falls into a volcano, and Milk Cookie saves him by grabbing onto his clothes. As he does so, however, he says demeaning things to Purple Yam Cookie. Rather than Purple Yam Cookie rightfully being allowed to be mad at Milk Cookie, the story portrays them as bonding afterward. It’s very awkward for a black man to suddenly forgive a white man for his creepy, condescending behavior just because he saved his life.

The Dino-Sour Cookie update included a scene where Milk Cookie told Purple Yam Cookie to mind his manners when speaking to Dino-Sour Cookie, which is very condescending. Purple Yam Cookie is an adult, so he should be allowed to do whatever he likes. A white man speaking over a black man and telling him to “watch his manners” is very textbook racist.

In the Mala Sauce Cookie update, Milk Cookie is once again portrayed as more “kind” than Purple Yam Cookie when he scolds Purple Yam Cookie for not offering to help Mala Sauce Cookie with her tribe’s issues. This is once again a case of Milk Cookie talking down to Purple Yam Cookie, as Purple Yam Cookie is implied to have just met Mala Sauce Cookie and therefore is not close enough with her to the point where he should want to undertake the big task of helping her. In addition, Purple Yam Cookie has his own goal which he wants to stick to, and as an adult, he has the right to want to pursue it before anything else. Milk Cookie’s condemnation of Purple Yam Cookie’s choice to focus on his own goal is just plain rude. Later, after the Dragon’s Valley Squad meets Pitaya Dragon Cookie and receives their advice on how to solve Mala Sauce Cookie’s problem, Milk Cookie once again calls Purple Yam Cookie selfish for wanting to continue his quest rather than stay with Mala Sauce Cookie. All-in-all, it’s a big mess.

In the Mango Cookie update, Milk Cookie suggests that he and Dino-Sour Cookie dig into Pineapple Mountain to try to find Ananas Dragon Cookie. Mango Cookie begs him not to do so, as it ruins the island’s landscape and enrages Ananas Dragon Cookie, but he starts digging without listening to Mango Cookie. When Mango Cookie asks what he’s doing, he ignores Mango Cookie’s obvious concern and says he’ll use his shield to defend them all from the Dragon when it arrives. Thus, Mango Cookie’s concern is played off as a joke. The defilement of the island, which is inhabited by Pacific Islanders, by a white man is extremely reminiscent of imperialism in real life, and it would likely make Pacific Islanders uncomfortable that it is played off as a funny story. Ananas Dragon Cookie’s rightful rage about the whole thing is played off as ridiculous too, which doesn’t make it any better.

Milk Cookie compared to those around him:

Every important Cookie Milk Cookie has come into contact with in the Dragon’s Valley story was not white, and almost all of them exhibits traits of racist stereotypes about non-white people that make Milk Cookie look more “perfect” and “likable”. The biggest victim of this is Purple Yam Cookie, but we’ll get to him in a moment.

Dino-Sour Cookie falls into the stereotype of being animalistic. He has sharp teeth and lives alongside dinosaurs, and he even seems to communicate with Jellysaur somehow. Attributing these kinds of characters to a man of color is a classic kind of racist stereotype which tries to make him seem more alike with animals than humans. Simply put, it is dehumanizing. People call Dino-Sour Cookie “feral” because of how he’s portrayed, and that’s… not good when you’re talking about a man of color.

Mala Sauce Cookie, who would likely be Chinese if she were human because mala sauce is a Chinese sauce, falls into a similar stereotype to Purple Yam Cookie. That is, her personality centers around combat. There is also the fact that she’s from a tribe, and her Costume contains motifs like animal skins and dangling golden jewelry which are typically racist when applied to people of color. Devsisters may have been intending for Mala Sauce Cookie to be Mongolian, based on her Costume and her living in a tribe, but that just makes her even more of a stereotype as she’s portrayed with Mongolian stereotypes (like the helmet in her Costume and living in a warrior tribe). Whether Mala Sauce Cookie is Chinese or Mongolian, she is still very obviously a woman of color, and so applying these stereotypes to her is… not good. (And we’re not even getting into how Cookie Run loves to make dark-skinned female Cookies more masculine than the ones with lighter skin, which is a racist stereotype that dehumanizes women of color and invalidates their right to be feminine if they so choose.)

Mango Cookie and Ananas Dragon Cookie both are portrayed as ridiculous for objecting to Milk Cookie’s destruction of the pineapple island, which makes them seem ignorant of “the greater good at hand” and selfish when they are simply trying to defend their home and their dignity.

Purple Yam Cookie has been with Milk Cookie since the beginning, and he is by far the biggest victim of the racism inherent in Milk Cookie’s character. He has always been juxtaposed to Milk Cookie. Even on the title screen for their release update, we see Purple Yam Cookie depicted as “rowdy” and violent, looking at the player with a smirk and wielding his mace, while Milk Cookie in that same screen is partially turned away from the viewer. He is smiling politely, and his mace is nowhere to be seen; we only see his shield. This contrast alone signifies how their different characters clash, and how Milk Cookie is supposed to seem more “likable” and “pure” than Purple Yam Cookie.

Purple Yam Cookie’s character is literally a racist caricature of black men. He is angry, violent, and loud - all the time. Even when he seemingly has no reason to be angry or violent, he shouts, complains about how angry he is, and acts in such a way that the player is supposed to see him as “selfish”. His trauma about the Oven is played off as a joke, claiming that it’s the reason why he’s always angry. The game treats his PTSD as a joke for the sake of making him a racist stereotype. His loading lines in-game are all either about fighting or being angry. He yells in most of his dialogue, emphasizing words that don’t even make sense, just for the sake of making him seem grumpy and rude. He even says things that don’t make sense at all just to keep the angry personality trait! If you equip his Champion of Valor Costume, he claims that “shiny colors” and “fancy clothes” make him angry, and his Costume description contains him yelling at people for complimenting him. He is also depicted with sharp teeth in some cutscenes, which is reminiscent of racist remarks made about black people by white people throughout history, calling them “animalistic” by nature. All of this taken together, combined with the fact that his Skill is all about destruction and that his whole character motive is to fight Dark Choco Cookie to reclaim his title as Champion, makes him into a character you are “supposed” to dislike and view as mean.

Contrast that with Milk Cookie. His dialogue in most cutscenes is polite. He gives encouragement to the player in his loading lines for his Costume. Most of his loading lines are also uplifting and encouraging. He has never been shown to be unnecessarily mad except for once, when he threatened Purple Yam Cookie after hearing he was planning to fight Dark Choco Cookie - and he was not punished for this or made to seem violent by the narrative! Milk Cookie’s backstory is about wanting to thank Dark Choco Cookie, not wanting to fight them. And the fact that he has sprites where he smiles and seems happy, whereas Purple Yam Cookie only ever smiles in canon when he’s being violent, just makes Milk Cookie seem more “pure” and “gentle” to the player. Devsisters likely did not make Milk Cookie and Purple Yam Cookie this way intentionally. It was likely the product of internalized racism, but even so, that doesn’t make it okay or make the racist elements insignificant.

There is probably a lot more I could talk about when it comes to why Milk Cookie as a character is problematic, but these should be enough details to get the gist of it. As I said before, you should consult Jewish people and people of color when it comes to this topic before anything else, but I hope this explanation clears things up.

Ray and Allison have a lovely relationship but I finally identified the problem, the tension I was feeling between since them a few eps back. It's not about Allison's secrets at all, is about Ray being so obsessed with his crusade that he completely overlooks Allison's feelings, he only pays attention to her when they are on the page about the mission. He sees her powers and his first thought is 'we could use this for the cause', Allison is clearly distressed and sad and even says she doesn't feel well and all he can think about is the damn JFK meeting. He's not a bad person and he's not doing it on purpose but he has a workaholic one-track mind that could easy turn into neglect for Allison. He clearly loves her and I'm rooting for them so much but I know that if asked to choose between Allison and his cause, he'll pick his cause.

So Five is done with the killing. I figured this might weigh on his conscience, it's one thing to kill for a greater good or survival, coldly and detached, it's another thing to slaughter for selfish reasons (even if his selfish reasons are a greater good).

I know this all supposed to be cute and all but it would also be a perfect moment for Ben for experience Klaus's powers (the constant hauntings) as well as his addiction and the claustrophobic expectations of the cult. It would be an excellent chance to make Ben understand why Klaus is the way he is, seeing as Klaus is making a huge effort (and sacrifice) to do the same for Ben. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening because I think they want to keep this part about Ben.

By end of season 1 Klaus cried that people still didn't take him seriously, his compassion despite all his suffering made him likeable and deep, but this season he's back to being the family joke, I don't like that there's no resolution to that. But let's see where this goes, I'm getting ahead of myself.

Luther is right when he says they don't get live formal lives because they are special but Allison is even more right when she says that's not fair. This is why this family needs to stick together and love each other, they are the only ones that can really understand each other's struggles.
