#and not to mention the free star wars stuff in the base game i

I'm curious and I've gotta ask: do you know anything about the old MMORPG "Star Wars Galaxies"?
tl;dr it turned into a cautionary tale about chasing new users at the expense of alienating existing users, and among MMO gamers over a certain age, it's infamous
however, it's the exception, not the rule: the majority of the MMO market's history seems to show that a game and/or service -can- survive major changes, -if- those changes are gradual and continual, mixed with changes desired by the existing userbase, and not fully committing the product to a niche already filled by another company's product
that said, Tumblr doesn't have a lot of time to be gradual with its efforts to adapt, considering Automattic has already been nursing it at a loss since 2019...
but on the bright side, the current chaos among social media platforms offers some opportunities and wiggle room that never really opened up in the constantly overcrowded MMO market. like, some Tumblr users seem to think imitating Twitter in any way is a bad business plan, and they cite the fact Twitter is failing. but Twitter isn't failing because of its sidebar design, it's failing because of Elon Musk. imitating certain aspects of it is just free real estate at this point
funny you should mention SWG, i know it quite intimately. the official SWG forum was the first message board i ever joined, and i was highly active in that community for many years. up until very recently, i was still hosting a message board that was started as an SWG fan board. the people i know from that are some of the people i've known longest through the internet, and in my life actually, so it's close to my heart.
to unpack your thoughts here though, i think SWG is an interesting case study that actually supports our strategy, but really it doesn't quite fit because it's fundamentally a different model. MMOs are primarily subscription based (they were when SWG was out) or now freemium, and tumblr and most social media is funded by advertising. the underlying monetization mechanics are totally different, leading to totally different priorities.
if people on the internet were willing to pay to fully fund a social media network, either through a freemium model or a subscription, removing itself from VC funding and advertising, then the comparison between MMOs and social media platforms would make a little more sense. then it'd be much more easy for us, inside of tumblr, to prioritize existing paid customers, when those customers are a significant (or the primary) revenue stream. that would be pretty amazing!!!
and from my perspective, the "current chaos among social media platforms" is much smaller than it seems. i think the media just enjoys writing about this stuff, and overblowing it, and platforms like meta and tiktok are doing silly things mostly to grab that free attention. while certainly more people than ever are willing to try out other platforms, the raw numbers of how they retain / "stick" when they do make that move seem to be abysmal so far.
if anything, right now on the internet, the stage is perfectly set for something radically new to come along and completely blow away the incumbents, including meta and tiktok. i think web3 has already failed (thankfully), and AI is a tool (not a platform), and VR is too expensive and inaccessible, so something else is gonna pop up and become big. it's been a long while since a truly amazingly innovative product came along to shake the foundations of the internet. we're overdue.

An agere look on Genshin Impact
I didn't know a better title for this but hey! Agere review of Genshin Impact. Basically just looking if Genshin is a kid safe game for others to play when little :3
Genshin Impact basics
Genshin Impact is an open-world game with main focus on exploration, story and fighting. I personally have been playing this game for a good 3 years as of now and I've enjoyed a majority of it. With it's wide selection of characters and insanely big open world, it's gained a lot of traction across the world. This game is rated PEGI-12, so teens and older. Parents zone mentions that this game does not ask for age verification, so it does not contain sexual content. But it does contain revealing clothes for certain characters (I personally don't thing of them as too sexual, as Genshin has to conform to the Chinese censorship laws.) Genshin is entirely free with only not needed payments being available. You can beat and play the game comfortably without spending any money whatsoever. Genshin does not feature blood or gore, but minor character death and video game violence does appear. Genshin often gets compared to the Nintendo game Breath of the Wild, so if you think that game is suited for your age regression, Genshin probably is too
The Story
The story of Genshin is one of it's most important parts. The game having insanely good world building and the story going very in depth with backstory and character development. There are currently 5 of the 7 countries in Genshin. I think I should mention that the main story and practically all other quests have a good ending! Although I do think some parts of the story get dark and are not suited for children. With mentions of war, death and similar stuff. I'd say most Genshin quests are child-friendly, but just be careful. It's okay to quit the game if stuff gets too dark or to avoid story whatsoever when little. The Mondstadt quest is overall child-friendly, and after completing it, the entire world is open for exploration! (Besides Inazuma). The only quests I'd actively avoid are any quests involving Dainsleif (Specifically, Traveler and The Chasm quests), parts of the Sumeru storyline (As they include psychological horror) and parts of Fontaine's storyline (As they include trials, murder and crime). The rest of the story I'd say is quite tame, but if necessary, parental guidance/a caregiver looking after you is recommended.
Characters
As of writing this, there are 80 playable characters in Genshin. So as you might suspect, there's A LOT of selection. Every character has a different job, attacks, backstory, etc.! One of the things I enjoy the most of this game is collecting and playing different characters! You collect characters either for free from Main Quests, for free from Events, or you wish for them on the Banners (Also known as Character Event Wishes). Genshin is a gacha game, meaning you need to unlock characters mainly with luck. Same thing for weapons. Characters all have a weapon type, rarity and elemental type assigned to them. (e.g. Chiori, who is a 5 star, geo sword user.) But there are several things necessary to level a character up. Which I won't get into detail with here! Just know it'll take some time, especially to max out characters...
As said before, as there is a ton of selection of characters. And I wanted to mention that you can play as a small girl (e.g. Klee), but there are sadly no small boys yet. But there are medium girls and boys (e.g. Amber, Chongyun). There are also tall girls and boys (e.g. Dehya, Kaeya)
Fighting mechanics
As I mentioned before, as characters have an assigned element, Genshin's combat is mainly element based. You don't actually need elements in a team... But it does do more damage! I, again, won't go into detail, but most enemies really aren't scary. If you've played Breath of the Wild or practically any Zelda game, they are WAY scarier.
Other activities
Besides running around or slaying monsters, you can also do other things, such as events, customizing the Serenitea pot, collecting materials, leveling up your characters, or just reading the lore!
Co-Op Mode
Once you reach AR (Adventure Rank) 16, you unlock the Co-Op feature. The ability to play in a world with up to 4 people. If you are little, I'd recommend putting the Co-Op setting to 'Reject Join Requests' if you do not want to play with others, or 'Join After Approval' if you want to play with Friends. I do not recommend playing with random people, as some can be weird. You do not want to interact with others when in a venerable state. If you wish to play in Co-Op, I'd recommend parental/caregiver's guidance.
Genshin is really fun to play with a friend you trust, a fellow little or your caregiver!
When in Co-Op mode, you can explore, do domains together, or just have fun! Some events allow Co-Op mode, so you can do fun little minigames too. Most quests, whether Archon, story, or world quests, get blocked and cannot be done in Co-Op mode. You can also visit each other's Serenitea Pot, although editing it is not possible.
Thank you for reading and have fun if you decide to pick this game up!
Might make more of these in the future about other games I really enjoy :D

Despite the fact that around 20% of the N64 library are racing games (or sometimes cars doing other stuff like shooting and destroying things), it is fair to say that many of these games are garbage. When the subject matter is futuristic racing games, though there is a few and quite good ones. Wipeout series is a classic very linked with Sony and Playstation brand, but N64 received the one entry, Extreme-G had their fan base back then when the franchise was still alive, and F-Zero X is an absolute classic, from one of the most iconic Nintendo series. Don't forget to mention the Star Wars Episode I: Racer which is also a very solid game, both from technical and gameplay perspectives. So for this week's pool I want to know which game do you think is the best futuristic racing for the N64. Feel free to share (reblog) and comment.

Re having One Big Fandom: the thing that's hard for me is that so many fandoms have a relatively high barrier to entry.
Shonen anime series tend to run to 100s of episodes which is a lot of watch time (and a lot of download space given that I'm based outside the US and we don't have good streaming options).
Video games are both expensive and difficult and I can't afford a gaming setup so I'm limited in what I can play (and, again, it takes a lot of time).
Stuff like MCU or Star Wars has 10+ movies plus other stuff to watch which takes a lot of time.
Even book series can get expensive (going to the library isn't an option because of where I live) considering that sometimes they run to dozens of volumes or more, not to mention all the reading time.
I'm a working adult and I simply don't have time for a lot of this. I tend to stick with fandoms I already know I like (many of them, yes, older and dating back to when I had more free time). It's just not feasible for me to invest all of this time in a new canon and then have to do it all over again every couple of years.
--
Oh man, I'm having so much trouble getting through even short dramas. I'm just too busy.

Tell me about other choice based games, also have you ever played oxenfree?
Ooh boy. For starters, I saw this and went "oh god where do I start" so that's a warning for what lies ahead. PS: Have not played Oxenfree and don't know what it is but I will look it up.
This is a spoiler-free zone unless otherwise stated in the headings btw :)
I know you know about Until Dawn so I'm not gonna touch that. But that being said I have to mention the Dark Pictures Anthology since that wasn't listed in the post :D.
THE DARK PICTURES ANTHOLOGY
The Dark Pictures Anthology is another choice-based game created by Supermassive Games, which made Until Dawn. Where Until Dawn was 8 hours long, The Dark Pictures games are all much shorter, with Man of Medan and Little Hope around 4 hours, and House of Ashes being at 6.
Each one of the Dark Pictures games is based roughly on a real-life event. Man of Medan is the Ourang Medan ship, Little Hope is the Salem Witch Trials, and House of Ashes takes place during the Iraq War. And the upcoming game Devil in Me is rumored to be based on the murder hotel of HH Holmes. Of course, with each came the fabrication of the threat/monster.
The games themselves are hit or miss. Personally, I enjoyed House of Ashes the most out of the three, followed by Man of Medan, and then Little Hope (I hated the ending but won't spoil it). I think one of the reasons I did like HoA best, is because of the length, they were able to build the characters more and make you like them and wanna save them, which the other two I felt lacked in that department.
In the end, the way they set up the games was very similar to Until Dawn (and on the off chance someone is reading these and doesn't know), one of the big components of all choice-based games is that you can save or kill any number of the playable characters: Alex, Julia, Conrad, Fliss, and Brad in Man of Medan. Andrew, Taylor, Daniel, Angela, and John in Little Hope. And Eric, Rachel, Salim, Jason, and Nick in House of Ashes.
The one tie-through of those games is the recurring character The Curator (who fans flock to partially due to his dump truck ass). He warns you of what's to come in weird puzzle-like riddles, can flat out give you hints, and overall in my opinion seems like you're talking to The Grim Reaper or Death. In his office he has a bookshelf where there is a series of books with symbols on them to represent the four games (which I will have tattooed on me now!): a little ship for Man of Medan, a stick figure doll for Little Hope, an eclipse for House of Ashes, and a compass (although I keep wanting to call it a protractor) for Devil in Me.
Anyway! That's the Dark Pictures. On to the next one... one that hasn't even come out yet lol.
THE QUARRY
So this game is the next game slated to be released by Supermassive Games (on June 10th). It has been released that the game is a "spiritual successor" to Until Dan and like that game, follows a stellar star-studded cast featuring David Arquette as Chris Hackett, Justice Smith as Ryan, Ted Raimi as Travis, Brenda Song as Kaitlyn, Halston Sage as Emma, Skylar Gisando as Max Binly, Siobhan Williams as Laura, Ariel Winter as Abigail, Evan Evagora as Nick, Miles Robbins as Dylan, Zach Tinker as Jacob, Lance Henriksen as Jedediah, Ethan Suplee as Bobby, Lin Shaye as Constance, and last but not least Grace Zabriskie as Eliza.
The game is announced to be 10 hours long and the first 30 minutes (aka the prologue) have been released on IGN. The Quarry follows 9 summer camp counselors (Max, Laura, Ryan, Dylan, Nick, Abigail, Emma, Jacob, and Kaitlyn) on the last night of camp at Hackett's Quarry, and some spooky shit starts happening.
Also the character Eliza has been confirmed to be almost a Curator/Dr. Hil type of harbinger of things to come which is kinda cool.
From what I've seen of the teasers and stuff, my theory is that it's werewolves and possibly a situation of the campers being hunted by humans (think The Most Dangerous Game). But nothing is confirmed that's just what I think.
From what I've seen, I'm VERY excited for this game's release. 45 days so the hype is building!
HIDDEN AGENDA
Ah yes, the shortest choice based game. Created by Supermassive Games to show off a functionality of the PS4, which I don't think was used for any other game, lol.
The game follows Becky Marney (played by Katie Cassidy) as she investigates the claims that the guy they've had in custody/on death row for being The Trapper killer-- calling card boobytrapping the bodies of his victims to kill the first responders too-- claims he isn't the actual trapper but has been taking the fall for his friend Adam.
Throughout the very short 2 hour game, you play as Becky and Felicity Graves who are trying to figure out if the claims of the alleged Trapper are true. Once again it plays into the choice based to where both of the characters can die in an attempt to solve the murders.
It's a fun game! It's just built as a party game with the feature using your phones as the controller and the functionality to (when playing as a group) have Hidden Agenda's in order to get people to react one way or another to choices, although there is a single player mode where you don't have that but it's still on your phone.
Anyway you can watch my stream here!
Onto another developer! Quantic Dream (or David Cage). I remember watching one playthrough of Until Dawn and someone comparing it to Heavy Rain, which is next up.
HEAVY RAIN
Heavy Rain was (from what I know) the first game to follow through on the "your choices actually matter" as far as choice-based games go. It was released in 2010 and follows the story of Ethan Mars whose son has been kidnapped by the infamous Origami Killer that has been taunting the city for years. The calling card is that the kid goes missing in broad daylight and the father of the sons (it's always boys) receives a series of trials they must go through as a test to see if they're a good enough dad to save their son. Each trial succeeded gives Ethan a few entries into a really sucky Hangman game that when fully completed gives him the address of where his son is.
That being said, you also play as Madison, a reporter who is writing an article about the Origami Killer and accidentally falls in love with Ethan, Norman (or as I mimic his Boston accent, Nahman) Jayden who is an FBI agent sent to investigate this serial killer, and Scott Shelby who is a private investigator hired by the parents of the missing kids to help the police in their investigation.
Over the span of the game, you complete the trials as Ethan and investigate the crimes as Jayden and Shelby, ultimately finding out who the killer is and bringing them to justice.
And the best part? You can kill or save all of them in a number of ways (including Ethan's son who you never play as but still).
I played this game a few years ago and while the graphics have aged with time, it is still a fantastic game and if you haven't played it (or watched a stream) I recommend it. Here is my personal stream of the game if you wanna check it out.
DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN
In 2018, Quantic Dream released its most recent game, Detroit: Become Human, which much like Heavy Rain makes good on it's promise to create a game where your choices do really matter. And this time, the graphics are UNREAL. It's roughly 10 hours long and follows the city of Detroit, Michigan way in the future (I'd say nearly 80 years from now but I don't know the exact date). In this future, we have developed a humanoid Android robot to do pretty much every job for us that we don't want to/can't do for ourselves.
The game follows 3 story lines where you're playing as the androids Kara (played by Valorie Curry), Marcus (played by Jesse Williams), and Connor (played by Bryan Dechart). Connor is a police assistant android whose mission is to help figure out why androids are slowly becoming sentient ("deviant") and exhibiting human-like traits like having emotions. Marcus, who has become deviant and with a group of others, begins to lead a resistance to show humans that they just want to be treated as equals (noted: your resistance can be peaceful or riot-like depending on your choices). And Kara starts off as a nanny/maid for a family but rescues the little girl from her abusive father and runs away in search of a better life for both of them.
Their stories start off separate but soon overlap with Kara ending up seeking help from Marcus, and Connor hunting down the shelter of deviant androids who are apart of the resistance. And like all the others, you can kill or save all three of the main characters along with the non-playable side ones (North, Simon, Josh, and Luther).
Once again. 10/10 game. My stream is linked here.
BEYOND: TWO SOULS (spoilers)
Another game by Quantic Dream, Beyond: Two Souls is different. Where as the other games give opportunities for the characters to die throughout the game and alter how it ends that way, Beyond has a pretty strict choice based nature.
The plot is you follow Jodie (played by Elliot Page) as she grows up and learns to make sense/become friends with the entity she was born linked to. She starts off as a child who is undergoing tests led by Nathan Dawkins (played by Willem Dafoe), eventually gets recruited by the CIA, and falls in love. The whole time you're playing as Jodie and her entity Aiden (pronounced eye-den not like how you'd normally say aye-den).
Eventually the game builds up as Jodie begins to learn where Aiden came from and why they are bonded and it ends with a big choice.
Either die and join Aiden in the afterlife, or live and have her ties to Aiden be severed. If you choose to live you also have the choice of being able to be in the established romantic relationship with CIA agent Ryan (played by Eric Winter).
Not gonna lie the first time I played the game I had to sit and stare at the screen after it ended cause it hit differently personally for me (as someone who also lost a twin prior to birth-- like Jodie with Aiden). But it was still fantastic nonetheless.
LIFE IS STRANGE (spoilers)
2015 was a good year for games. Because it gave us Until Dawn, and Life is Strange. LiS is the first game of a series created by Dontnod and Square Enix. It follows protagonist Max Caulfield as she discovers she has the ability to rewind time because she witnesses her best friend Chloe Price get shot at the hands of Nathan Prescott (the entitled rich kid).
She rewinds and manages to save Chloe, but her choice creates a ripple in time as she begins to see visions of the town of Arcadia Bay destroyed in a huge tornado.
The game goes on and on as you (along with Chloe) investigate the mysterious disappearance and eventual discovery of the murder of Chloe's "friend" (*cough* girlfriend) Rachel Amber.
But as you continue playing, you keep having to use Max's rewind powers in order to save Chloe's ass more than once and that leads to the dramatic choice at the end of the game: Sacrifice Arcadia Bay (and everyone living in it) to save Chloe, or Sacrifice Chloe to save the Bay-- also called Bay or Bae due to an option to be romantically involved with Chloe throughout the game.
Personally I think that ending is amazing because it really says a lot about what people value as they choose which one to save. It's a phenomenon known at the Trolley Problem and honestly so interesting. It's one of the reasons I love watching people play it for the first time/discussing the choice with others.
LIFE IS STRANGE: BEFORE THE STORM
Ah yes, Before the Storm, which was an interesting addition to the LiS universe. It's a prequel to the original game where you instead play as Chloe Price in the year prior to Rachel's disappearance while she is also dealing with the grieving of her father's death and mother's eventual remarriage with the security guard David Madsen.
Where as the main LiS game is split into 5 episodes, this game is only 3 (with an optional 4th as part of the deluxe edition). And in the original 3, you basically get a glimpse into Chloe and Rachel's friendship/relationship if you choose that path.
You witness Rachel's parental issues and the drama that comes with that, an accidental wildfire, you get to participate in Blackwell's production of The Tempest, and play DnD with Chloe's friends Steph and Mikey.
As for episode 4 (titled "Farewell"), you get to see the day that everything goes wrong for Chloe. Max announces her family is moving to Seattle on the same day that her dad dies in a horrific car crash. This episode made me BAWL my eyes out, mainly due to the fact it ends with Max leaving Chloe a tape in which she promises to keep in touch with her after she's gone, and in my playthrough of the main game, I chose Bay and therefore they never see one another again after she leaves.
Overall, the game is a great addition to the series. And it really gives a glimpse into Rachel Amber's personality and why exactly her and Chloe were so close. You can watch my stream here.
LIFE IS STRANGE 2
Not gonna lie this game is heavy, topic wise. The story follows brothers Sean and Daniel Diaz who are on the run from police after an incident of police brutality that left their dad dead (which resulted in Daniel discovering he has telekinesis powers and accidentally killed the cop who killed his dad.)
The two of them, now wanted criminals, start hitchhiking down the west coast of America heading for Mexico where their dad's family lives. Along the way they run into a LOT of trouble. They work on a pot farm, accidentally have a run-in with a religious cult, and reconnect with their mother who'd abandoned them years prior and stay with her in her desert commune.
One thing I really liked about this game is while it exists in it's own space, there are callbacks to the original LiS game (being able to see Arcadia Bay in either ruins or thriving, and getting to interact with David Madsen on the commune with different interactions based on the ending of main game). Also I felt it delivered more on the choices mattering. Where as I felt LiS's didn't matter aside from the ending one, this game mattered a lot more and had several endings.
Throughout the game you're playing as Sean (the older brother) and depending on how you choose to essentially raise Daniel while on your journey, the game can end in a number of ways which I really liked. Even if the looming topic was very heavy.
LIFE IS STRANGE: TRUE COLORS
The last one! Woo! If you've read this far consider me giving you a pat on the back cause good god did I write a lot about these.
True Colors follows the story of Alex Chen, a young girl who moves to Haven Springs, Colorado to live with her brother Gabe whom she hasn't seen in several years to being separated in the foster care system.
Everything seems too good to be true, and it is. After a shady event in the mountains of Haven, Gabe ends up dead in a horrific matter (not a spoiler it's in the trailer) and now Alex is in a new place with a load of strangers as she attempts to figure out how to navigate the loss of her brother.
And it wouldn't be a LiS game without a superpower, though Alex's is a little less farfetched. She's an empath, who can sense people's emotions and if they are too strong, can become overwhelmed with them.
You go through the story, learning all about Haven's (shady) past as you search for exactly why Gabe died. You become friends with the locals, and possibly even have a romantic relationship with either the rugged (and handsome) park ranger, Ryan Lucan, or the town's local nerd and radio DJ Steph (who is the same Steph that is friends with Chloe in Before the Storm-- a great call back!).
The game also had an option to have a DLC (called "Wavelengths") in which you are playing as Steph along her journey and transition from living in Arcadia Bay to living in Haven Springs and you get to actually be a radio DJ which was my fav part. It also confronts her dealing with the fallout of the events of the main game and how she processes it.
That's all about the games I have played!
THE OTHERS
So I may have a lot of experience in these games, but there are still some I know that exist that I have not played yet. Those being Twin Mirror (created by Dontnod), The Walking Dead series, and I guess now Oxenfree -- I assume it's one as well. I do own Twin Mirror but haven't played yet, and the other's are on my to-buy list!
Thanks for reading!
Sorry I go on about this! This is just scratching the surface.

02/19/24, afternoon
Life is so busy, in good ways and in bad, but it's SO busy, that even the good ways start feeling bad.
Just too much to do and not enough time or money to do them.
I've got books, Death Stranding, Ed comes out for Street Fighter 6 in eight days, FF7 Rebirth comes out in 10, I need a new Digimon deck cause my friends just get mad against the two I play right now, and I keep discovering new games I enjoy at work that other folks refuse to play with me. Movies and shows to watch too- need to re-watch the 90's animated X-Men since we're getting proper new episodes- very hype about that.
Legends and Lattes was a good book I borrowed from a friend. He picked up the prequel and gave it to me to read first because I've been reading a lot in my spare time cause it's free/cheap and figured I'd finish it quick, but I'm in the middle of The Archive Undying right now, which the same friend got me for Christmas, so now I feel slightly rushed to finish both fast.
Star Wars Unlimited, the new Star Wars TCG, seems interesting. I'm not especially big on Star Wars as a franchise, and I only played one game with the Darth Vader starter against the Luke starter, but I think the game has good bones- took a lot of good aspects of other TCGs and made something pretty unique that feels interactive, very tempo-based, and difficult to power creep. Bonus that it's designed with drafting and sealed play in mind, which makes it very accessible to new players that may not be interested in constructed play. Unfortunately, no one else I normally play games with is interested in playing with me, and I don't really have time to introduce more friends into my life atm, so that may go unexplored for a while.
Similar situation with Dune Imperium Uprising. Played it at a staff game night once, and been hooked on it since, but haven't been able to play again cause none of my friends are interested- plus it's, like, a four hour game and I don't own my own copy, and if I wanna buy one myself, it's gonna be like, $60+. Woof.
At least with Digimon, a lot of my costs are offset by generous friends that throw chaff from their bulk at me.
On the subject of card games, MtG's siren song has been calling me lately. My day job has me babysitting a bunch of other folks playing card games and board games all day, so I spend a lot of my time watching other people play Magic, and I've been feeling the itch. I might try to pick up a Commander deck and give it a shot.
I'd rather be playing Lorcana, which scratches a similar itch to Magic, but it's just so hard to get my hands on product. I have like, PART of a Belle deck, but with no Belle. She was $13 a pop for like, five minutes, and then the price suddenly shot back up to $20-something before I could spare the scratch to pick up a playset. Still better than the $38-something she was before, but still out of budget unless I save up a little at a time for a long time- not even to mention other Steel-Sapphire staples like Hades, Giant Tinker Bell, Let it Go, A Whole New World and Grab Your Sword. Product has been so scarce though that I think my friends have more or less given up on Lorcana entirely at this point anyway.
Trying to get together with folks when I can to flip some old YuGiOh stuff I've still got, but haven't been successful so far. Was prepped to meet with someone a few weeks ago, and then got COVID and had to put it off. :/
But yeah, no time, not enough money. When I'm not at the day job I'm drawing, and I also have to do cooking and cleaning and laundry and such on those days as well.
Or doing this cause I need a neutral party to vent my feelings and frustrations to. Bleh.

12/22/2023
I am currently learning how to make music. Specifically, I am sampling songs (generally anime/Japanese music) and adding a ton of stuff to it. I do not know what it is called but it is something similar to breakcore. It could even be breakcore, I do not really know. But so far, I am doing TERRIBLE.
At the moment, I am working on my first and hopefully not last project. I am sampling 未来へ by Kikoro. I doubled the BPM (240BPM) and pitched it up, essentially making it nightcore. So far, it is pretty fun and even though I only completed a few seconds of it, I still have it on repeat. The song is great by itself nightcore, but with the small change I have at the start kind of gives it some charm. I am biased of course. Nevertheless, I still think it sounds great and I am reading while repeating this remix I made. Matter fact, I am listening to it as I write this blog. I will upload it to SoundCloud some time.
I forgot to mention; I am using REAPER as my music producing software. I thought about Audacity because it is free, and I am broke. I just heard many great things about REAPER, so I decided to try their free trial. More than likely, I will be moving to Audacity after my free trial is over because I do not want to spend $200+ on some licensing fee to be able to use REAPER legally.
====================
Also, I did not go to school today, or this week for that matter. Instead of lazing around my room reading, listening to music, and just the general hobbies that I do, I might start incorporating something else in my life.
You may ask, what could it be Ren? Simple. I will make an effort in changing my physical appearance.
While it is something that I occasionally can get self-conscious about, it really does not affect my day-to-day.
But I thought about it.
Again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and...
I have come to a conclusion that if I want to change my life and achieve results that I want, I need to be able to start from the foundations. You also may ask, what do you want Ren? I know your ass is not saying all that but shut up for me.
While I do prefer to be alone and isolated, I often yearn for a connection with somebody. Whether it is online or in person, it is tough for me to because I am socially inept. How I even came about my school-friends is through fake confidence and personas.
I am more comfortable online, but where am I going to find good people to talk to? Everyone in my generation is weird to me, respectfully. I do not understand this entire pronoun situation, the plus beyond the LGBT, and I am out of touch on many celebrities and sports. I do not really watch anime like that anymore and video games do not interest me as much anymore.
I feel like I am struggling to find common interests with people my age online and it is entirely my fault because I am just super disinterested in many things. But that is just my mood, I do not want to act genuine anymore. I want to actually be genuine about whatever and everything I engage in.
If I do try to engage with people my age online, they all seem like clones, no disrespect of course. It is just how I feel. I just can not find an active community of a certain genre/topic/base that is not weird to me. I want to actually be able to talk to people about anything and everything without having to deal with cringe.
When I had conversations with anime junkies, it was cool how they were passionate about what they liked, but all they talked about was just anime, hentai, Star-Wars, and Marvel. When I had conversations with people who I thought were like-minded (in a sense of logical thinking), they were generally just assholes, know-it-alls, and narcissistic. They thought they were alpha, constantly berating on this generation constantly and would only talk about making money through this philosophy and that. They were on some shit I swear on my life.
My point is, anytime I try to engage in conversation or even general talks with specific communities online, they all have dislikable personalities to me. While I have talked to seemingly genuine individuals, they generally do not belong to a community or group online. Those are the type of people who are okay with socializing in-person so they really do not need the online shtick.
Either that, or I suck at conversing. Both cases are actually true in hindsight.
Anyway, after all this, how does this exactly relate to me changing my physical appearance? Simple, my verdict is that I can not truly fit in online. Seeking for a genuine connection on the net is impossible for me.
When I was in deep thought, I acknowledged that if you want to be treated well, you have to be dressed well. If your hair is consistently messy, it is a sign that you are person of laziness or unhygienic. Coincidentally, I am growing out my hair even though I am a guy. I am trying to get the Demon Lord Rimuru cut. I have been in love with long hair since my childhood. Growing it out and taking proper care of it shows a part of my character in-person; that I take care of myself.
Changing the physical appearance will happen over time as I complete my real goal which is calisthenics. I am essentially hitting two birds with one stone there. I want to be more active, go outside of my room more. Even if I am not interacting with people, just enjoying the outside world will feel so nice. I used to do it, until I got fat, depressed, and lazy (about 8 months ago). But by changing my physical appearance to be more masculine and slimmer, it shows people who talk to me that I take care of myself really well.
First impressions are quite literally set how a person looks at you from there on. They would have to get to know you more to change that perspective they have on you. I know hood niggas do not color bang anymore but imagine if you see a black guy wear a Cleveland Indians hat, sleeve tats and shit. Their draws higher than their red shorts. You would assume he is a gang member and that you should stay away from him.
Do not act like you would think otherwise. You are not racist to think that. Disgustingly, that is black culture. Unless you have no idea on how these Inglewood motherfuckers dress, or even how gang goons dress for that matter (all bloods pretty much dress the same in California, fight me on that hill if you say otherwise), you would be lying by saying you did not originally think that.
Anway, as you get to know the person who looks like a blood is actually a sweetheart, your perspective on him changes. However, because your first impression of him is a negative image, unless you get to know them over a long period of time, you will still have underlying bias against him. Do not say otherwise because you are lying and not allowed to have an opinion on this matter because I am a dictator.
My point is, if you want to be addressed a certain way, you have to dress how you want to be addressed. I do not mean tuxedos and shit like that. Even casual clothes are fine. But in my case, I dress like a bum, but only because it is comfortable.
In school, all I really wear are slides, sweatpants, a sweater/jacket, and a beanie no matter the weather. I never get hot like that even on 90-degree weather. It sounds weird, but on days where it is 90 degrees and up, I actually cool up with that fit on. It makes no sense, but I will roll with it. I also hate extreme cold. Where I am right now is 66 degrees. Having that bum ass fit on will make me warmer. What I am trying to say is that I like the room temp feeling. The only time I dress up in school is for an important field trip or a competition. Otherwise, I would be in a homeless fit.
OK OK OK I AM GETTING OFF TOPIC LET ME GET OFF CHARACTER REALLY QUICK.
Because I got even more fat than I was 8 or 9 months ago (50+ lbs. gain) I will lose weight as fast as possible and even get lower than my previous by water fasting. I will fast however long I need to get to the 140s before I start my calisthenics journey. The minimum amount of days I need to complete this water fasting journey is 30 days but I will keep the psychopaths who decide to read my shit in tune. I do not know my exact weight at the moment, but I am 210 lbs. and 5 foot 9.
I have been rambling for over an hour, maybe an hour and a quarter, and it was nice to get topics off my chest. It was a blast and I hope to talk to whoever reads these rambles in the future. Chat with me, I will probably reply!

Re having One Big Fandom: the thing that's hard for me is that a lot of fandoms have a relatively high barrier to entry.
You want me to get into a shonen anime? There's probably 100s of episodes that I'll have to first find space to download (we don't have good streaming options around here) and then find time to watch. Video game fandom? I don't own any consoles and I'm also not very good at games so that's a big time investment as well. Things like Star Wars and MCU have more than 10 different movies not to mention all the other stuff. Even book fandoms can get expensive (going to the library isn't really an option around here) considering that some series run to dozens of volumes or more, not to mention the investment of reading time.
As a working adult I don't really have time to spend getting into new canons all the time so mostly I stick to what I already know I like. It's simply not feasible for me to spend all that time on a new fandom only to have to give it all up every couple years.
Whoops that one big fandom ask was meant for someone else please ignore Anon, I know you said to ignore it but I hope you don't mind I answer anyway because I have some thoughts about this: 1. First, do you even care about those fandoms? I don't mean it in a bad way, I mean, like, do you really feel attracted to any of the stories that have Big Fandoms or just want to get into those stories because, well, the fandoms are so active and you want to participate on the action? If you do not care about Star Wars, MCU, that particular anime, that other show, then there's absolutely nothing wrong staying on the fandoms of the properties you already know and enjoy. They might not be the biggest fandoms ever, but who cares? As long there is a community for it and you are enjoying your free time in the way that makes you the happiest, then that is all that matters. 2. But if you do feel like there is something interesting about those stories and want to participate on fandom, then you don't need to watch however many episodes/movies to get on it. I barely ever play videogames, but I am still on videogame based fandoms because I watched gameplays, I follow blogs talking about it and/or read articles about them from other fans. You don't need to play anything to just know about the characters, the world or the universe. If you know who is who then that is more than enough to have your own ship, look for fanart, etc. 3. Likewise, you don't need to watch however many movies because, especially for something so mainstream like Star Wars or MCU, there is already plenty of fan made summaries for anyone to be up to date with whatever the fuck is happening right now. Same for anime! The reason shounen anime specifically can last so fucking much is because of filler episodes that do nothing for the overall plot (although they can be fun). The manga is always straight to the point, but if that is also way too fucking long, again, fan made summaries are your friends! Even if you got the minor details wrong when writing fanfiction or making a comic, who cares?? You either keep it in mind for the next, correct it if possible or forget about it entirely and declare it your very own AU. Nobody will mind. And if they do? Well, fuck them because you are just doing this shit for fun. Who cares about canon anyway! 4. Book fandoms? You can either pirate them directly online and then only invest on a small basic e-reader to have an entire library like that (that is what I do because book ARE way too expensive here) or find audiobooks for you to listen while doing something else. You might also find articles speaking on broad strucks about the plot. Read reviews, the more indeepth the better. If those books have movie adaptations there might be already videos comparing the two source material. If it's an entire saga that has been popular for a long time then no doubt someone already talked in lenght about it. I never read After, the Harry Styles fanfiction turned to movie, and yet I am way too knowledgeable about it because of listening other people talk about it. 5. If you don't have time to do any of that either then, again, it's just fine to keep doing what you can and keep with what is good for you. Try to get into a fandom only to get more stressed about it is literally defeating the purpose of a hobby so don't worry about it.

Not a request but a genuine question. Aside from twst, what games do you play, Athy?
Tumblr media
djehdksje anon-chan, are you sure you want to know? 😂 i've been playing lots of video and visual games lately so this will gonna be long! ^^ and you can take this as my game recommendation too if you want ehehe.
Let's start with otome games! I've been a visual novel gamer for like 8 years now 😂 I've just started playing Horse Prince way back before. Then I discovered the cybird games; namely Midnight Cinderella, and then I switched to Ikemen Sengoku. These two games has been my respite for years, especially since I'm a sucker for princess stories and /or time travel shenanigans 😂 (ikemen sengoku is, by the way, based on the historical warring states period of japan!) then cybird released their games like ikemen revolution (this one is based on alice in wonderland!), ikemen vampire (and this is for...um, romancing historical vampires 😂 eg. animated and sexc da vinci, mozart, van gogh, newton, shakespeare etc), ikemen live (futuristic idol group and stuff), ikemen genjiden (another historical game but this time in kamakura period of japan with a dash of ayakashi and fantasy!), and their latest game, ikemen prince (this one is based on beauty and the beast). Tears of themis is my new addiction too lol.
Aside from those, I also play a lot of games in steam and nintendo switch 🤔 like collar x malice, piofiore no banshou, hakuoki, nightshade, london detective, code realise and nekopara.
If it isn't visual novels, I played genshin impact, honkai impact, ensemble stars and hypnosis mic before too dhshs but my tablet can't hold its 'enormous' space anymore so i got no choice but to delete it for my other games sjsjs aaaanywaaaay, i also play mahoyoku, kengatoki, onmyoji, touken ranbu and there's a new game i've been waiting for a while now, akuneko shshshsh. there's more but i haven't played them for a while now so i'll spare it for now 😂
Okay, that's it, i guess? 😂 as you can see, im an addicted gamer lfmao so the reason why i havent posted anything is because im playing rn too 👁👄👁💦 if you have any question about the games i mentioned above, feel free to ask me anything about them! ^^

Speculations
I’m gonna make some guesses here, see if I turn out to be right when Mihoyo finally release Act.??? and Khaenri’ah
(SPOILERS BELOW)
Been thinking about the Genshin story trailer (the one titled “Travail”, dubbed in Japanese by Kaiba-kun Kenjiro Tsuda) in what little free time I had, and had a thought just now:
There are a few visual motifs that keep popping up throughout Genshin, I will list the ones I’ve noticed and some examples of each:
Four point star:
top of game’s logo
oculus location markings on the map
statues of the seven
Kaeya’s pupils and clothing
Dainsleif’s pupils and clothing
the Unknown Kiana God’s pupils and clothing
design of Traveler (both of them)
design of Paimon
Celtic knots:
walls of dungeons and abyss spiral
design of Unknown God
design of Dainsleif
Petal-shapes:
Paimon’s clothes
base of every Statue of the Seven
pillars in game’s intro loading screen
Stars, space, constellations, galaxies:
design of Paimon
design of Unknown God
design of Dainsleif
There are other "regional" visual motifs we can see so far, and these are the bird/feather/wings motifs in Mondstadt, and the square/diamond shapes we find throughout Liyue (also featured prominently as a design element for both the dragon and Zhongli...hmm......). These show that visual motifs do indeed connect places, characters, items, etc...so how are the archons, Dainsleif, Kaeya, the Unknown God, Paimon, and the Twins connected?
At the beginning of the game, the Traveler was talking to Paimon, telling Paimon what he/she remembers about how he/she came to be in Teyvat, and that it was a long time ago, 500 years to be exact. Paimon had apparently taught the Traveler/you many things shortly before the journey began, and was the one who suggested seeking out the seven archons in order to find your twin brother/sister's whereabouts. Incredibly, Paimon also has the ability to time travel into the future, but not the past.
In Mondstadt you meet Venti who is actually Barbatos, the anemo archon. After falling victim to the Tsaritsa's plan to take other archons' gnoses, Barbatos told you that anyone who has a Vision can make it to the island in the sky and claim a throne as a god, and that these chosen people are called genshin/原神 (the name of the game), or "proto-gods".
You journey to Liyue Harbor on foot to meet the geo archon Morax, but instead you saw a giant corpse, or so it appears. Wandering around Liyue, you come across various monuments and books telling of an ancient war between many gods, the Archon War, which established the current 7 archons of Teyvat. The Archon War was brutal, bloody and just frickin long, but the gods involved weren't all in it for the power. Some were forced, others had irreconcilable differences.  Morax became the geo archon when he survived and emerged victorious in the region of Liyue.
And that is what we currently know about the nature of Archons.  They are mortals (not mutually exclusive with the concept of gods here) of Teyvat who emerged triumphant in the fight for the “thrones in the sky”.  As for the identity of the Unknown God, Dainsleif, the Traveler twins, and Paimon, I can only speculate, but there are some clues, albeit not very solid clues.  Yet.
The first one is the background of the official art for the Traveler twins and the background of the official art for Dainsleif:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice the background?  That is virtually the same symbol, just colored differently.
Then there are the Celtic knots.  Notice the ones on the design of Dainsleif.  Notice the ones on the Unknown God:
Tumblr media
Then notice the trailing ribbon-like pieces of fabric on the back of the Unknown God.  Notice the trailing ribbons behind Lumine.
And the cape of Dainsleif vs. the cape of Aether.
Compare the bangs of the Unknown God to the bangs of Lumine, then compare the bangs of Dainsleif to the bangs of Aether.
Remember the sea of flowers in the Travail trailer?  Compare that to the flowers in Lumine’s hair.  Consider how the narrator of the trailer--which in the JP dub is the same VA who’s going to voice Dainsleif--talked about making Aether fight him in order to prove that Aether is more worthy to rescue “her”, the same “her” who he remembers “loved those flowers”.
I’m going to make a guess here:
The Unknown God is (an older) Lumine, and Dainsleif is (an older) Aether.
I know there are many who thought the Unknown God was God Kiana from the Honkai series, but at this point I think it was more of a reference to the Honkai series than a plot point (to introduce players unfamiliar with Mihoyo’s games to the Honkai series).  For one, I believe someone from Mihoyo did an interview where they said that a larger-scaled game like Genshin was something they wanted to make when they made HI3, but they simply did not have the resources to do so, and now they can tell the story they’ve always wanted to tell.  If this is true, and I think it probably is, then the world of Teyvat bearing similarities to the world of Honkai Impact is pretty well-explained:  they stemmed from the same basic story ideas.  Are there any connections plot-wise?  Maybe, but I don’t think so.
But why would an older Lumine and an older Aether exist in the same time as the younger Lumine and Aether?  How can the same people experience the same time point twice, isn’t that some sort of paradox?
There’s no way to answer this question right now, but there are definitely some time-traveling shenanigans going on here.  I mean, look at Paimon.  Paimon has time manipulation powers that we can utilize in-game, but interestingly she (?) can only travel to the future and not to the past.  Add to that the recurring motif of cycles (”that throne in the sky is never reserved for you” and the mentions of “usurper”)............maybe the Unknown God and Dainsleif as they appear now are past incarnations of Lumine and Aether.  If so, this won’t be the first time Mihoyo toyed with the idea of reincarnation (see Dr. Mei & Raiden Mei, Himeko & Himeko, Sakura & Yae Sakura, etc etc etc).
It’s also unclear where the twins actually came from.  There are two possibilities as of now, Celestia (island in the sky) or Khaenriah.  The former is somewhat supported by the Gnostic Chorus teaser (”glorious kingdom established among the heavens”), while the latter is hinted at in the Travail story trailer (Dainslief is introduced in the section for Khaenri’ah).  Ad astra abyssoque.
Finally, some random stuff I’ve noticed.  Genshin contains a few references to Norse mythology.  Dainslief is the name of a sword from Norse mythology that cannot be sheathed unless it takes a life.  And the white tree that spread its roots throughout Teyvat mentioned in various places.....Yggdrasil anyone?

Fix-it Fanfiction by Fandom
A.K.A. The Leverage Test
I've been getting requests to post my spreadsheets and analysis of fix-it fanfiction on AO3, so here we are, my friends. You may remember that I posted about how few fix-it fanfictions there are for Leverage (this post). Now, thanks to a lovely friend of mine (please check out their site at http://setupminimal.github.io/), I have data for the number of fix-it fanfictions for every fandom on AO3 with more than 1000 works. This data was collected on February 1st, 2020.
First off, for all you nerds out there, here is a link to the data in full. This has a spreadsheet with all the data, including "fix-it percentage" and fix-it percentage excluding crossovers. There are also sheets with the data from each individual type of media. By default, they are sorted by fix-it percentage. If you'd like to view my summary of the data in presentation form, there is a slideshow so you can do that as well.
Now, for some analysis!
Here's a chart showing a break down of fix-it percentage by type of media.
Tumblr media
The mean percentage for each type of media is marked, and the gray bar marks the grand mean.
Cool stuff, right? Next, let's take a look at the most popular fandoms: those with over 100,000 works on AO3.
Popular Fandoms
Tumblr media
So, of the most popular fandoms, Teen Wolf has the highest percentage of fix-it fanfictions: 3.81%. It is followed by the Avengers movies, with 3.24% fix-its. The lowest, with just 0.021% fix-its, is the Korean boy band BTS (not surprisingly given the low rate of fix-its in fanfiction based on real people). The next lowest is Sherlock Holmes and Related Fandoms, with a respectable 1.01% fix-it percentage.
Fandoms with Extreme Fix-It Percentages
Next, let's examine have the extremes: fandoms with very low or very high fix-it percentages. I'm not going to focus much on the celebrity, music, or reality TV fanfictions, as those have very few fix-its.
Let's start with the media fans wanted to fix the least.
Media with Low Fix-it Percentages
Books: • Mumintroll | Moomins Series - Tove Jansson (0%) • 盜墓筆記 - 南派三叔 | The Grave Robbers' Chronicles - Xu Lei (0%) • Outlander Series - Diana Gabaldon (0.05045%) • The Eagle | The Eagle of the Ninth - All Media Types (0.0957%)
Movies: • Power Rangers (2017) (0%) • Strange Magic (2015) (0%) • 哪吒之魔童降世 | Né Zhā Zhī Mó Tóng Jiàng Shì (2019)(0%) • 流浪地球 | The Wandering Earth (2019)(0%)
TV Shows: • Numb3rs (0%) • Generation Kill (0%) • Victorious (0%) • The Professionals (TV 1977) (0%)
Cartoons, comics, and graphic novels: • Girl Genius (Webcomic) (0%) • Metalocalypse (Cartoon) (0%) • 凹凸世界 | AOTU Shijie | AOTU World (0%) • 19天 - Old先 | 19 Days - Old Xian (0%)

Theater: • Newsies the Musical - Fierstein/Menken (0.0757%) • The Book of Mormon (0.0995%) • Be More Chill - Iconis/Tracz (0.1746%) • Hamilton - Miranda (0.4780%)
Video games: • Don't Starve (0%) • 王者荣耀 | King of Glory (0%) • 剑侠情缘 | Jianxiaqingyuan | JX (0%) • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six (0%) • Touhou Project (0%) • 恋与制作人 | Liàn Yǔ Zhì Zuò Rén | Mr. Love: Queen's Choice (0%) • 明日方舟 | Arknights (0%) • Love Live! School Idol Festival (0%) • 第五人格 | Identity V (0%) What about the other end of the spectrum? What media do fans want to fix the most?
Media with High Fix-it Percentages
Fandoms with Multiple Media Types: • Wonder Woman - All Media Types (5.89%) • Call Me By Your Name - All Media Types (7.92%)
Books: • Les Misérables - Victor Hugo (5.89%) • Captive Prince - C. S. Pacat (10.62%) • The works of Stephen King (11.53%) • IT - Stephen King (12.18%) (I'm so sorry, Stephen King. Please don't take offense.)
Movies: • The Social Network (2010) (5.52%) • Big Hero 6 (2014) (8.17%) • Wonder Woman (Movies - Jenkins) (8.54%) • Call Me By Your Name (2017) (9.47%) • Kingsman (Movies) (10.10%) • IT (Movies - Muschietti) (11.57%) So far the IT fix-its are coming out on top. I guess people really want their happy endings for that particular story.
TV Shows: • DC's Legends of Tomorrow (5.65%) • The Terror (2018) (6.57%) • The Umbrella Academy (6.74%) • The Magicians (7.80%) • True Blood (8.08%) • Babylon 5 (8.34%)
Cartoons, Comics, and Graphic Novels: • Iron Man (Comics) (4.14%) • Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) (4.34%)
Anime and Manga: • Naruto (3.08%) • Boruto: Naruto Next Generations (4.09%) • Banana Fish (9.03%) Oh, Naruto. The apple did not fall far from this particular tree.
Theater: • Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Thorne & Rowling (2.05%) • Heathers: The Musical - Murphy & O'Keefe (2.44%) • Les Misérables - Schönberg/Boublil (4.73%) We have another winner! Les Misérables is apparently in need of fixing in both book and stage format.
Video Games: • Red Dead Redemption (4.40%) • Until Dawn (8.05%)
Things to Note
Now, I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea about what I'm trying to say with this data. So, I have a few disclaimers:
This data is for fun, and not meant to be some infallible way to measure fanfiction writers' satisfaction with canon.
I haven't seen or read all the media I'm going to mention here, so I can't make any guarantees of quality (or lack thereof).
Different fandoms have different cultures and terminology, so that could affect the number of fanfictions tagged as "fix-it."
Not every fanfiction that tries to fix canon will be tagged as fix-it.
Though we love it dearly, AO3 is only one fanfiction site, and it doesn't represent all of fanfiction, especially for fandoms which were around before its inception.
Conclusion
I hope you've enjoyed your newfound knowledge. If you have questions about specific pieces of media, or would like to see an analysis, comparison, or chart I haven't included, send me a message! And feel free to play around with the data in the spreadsheets (but if you do post anything using this data, please credit me as @thebiballerina and my friend as setupminimal).

I find it funny/irritating/dumb/pointless that people get so upset when a company comes out with a new product and charges people!  We demand new content, constantly. then complain when they give it to us. It takes people to make that content and people like to get paid. Do you do your job for free? We all want Sims 5, that takes A LOT of money.  There is a simple solution.
Don’t buy it. The game plays perfectly well, Base Game only. You aren't forced to buy any expansions, stuff packs or game packs to continue to enjoy the game. But yet, there's still complaining. They support custom content creators. You can add anything you want to the game with custom content.  I just don’t get it.
Yes, it’s frustrating when it seems they don't listen. I love Star Wars and didn't get the point of the pack. But, I understand it from their point. They got paid for it and then on top of that, some people bought it. More money for the company.
Companies need to make money. Its a fact of life. They have rent, power bills, employees, insurance and the list goes on. Yes, they made a lot of money with the base pack, but I guarantee it wasn't enough to maintain the game for the 6 years its been out. Not to mention it helps them fund other things that aren't doing so well and new things in the works.
That's my two cents.
If you disagree that's fine. I see plenty of people on here that do. If you agree, that’s also fine. Thank you for being like minded.  If people want to argue in the comments feel free, but I wont be responding.  It’s my opinion and Im allowed to have it, just like you're allowed yours.

Designing Your Melody: Chapter 13 - Kisses
Chapter 01 - Chapter 12
“Viperion, are you humming right now?” Carapace asked. “You do realize we’re in the middle of a boss fight, right?”
“Leave the boy alone, Carapace. It’s obvious something good happened to him for him to be in such a good mood.” Rena Rouge scolded. Viperion chuckled at how fiercely she’d defended him, even though it didn’t bother him at all to be called out like that in the clan chat.
“Really? Care to share with the rest of the class?” Ladybug teased. She was a little disappointed that his humming had stopped, though. It made her smile to hear him unconsciously expressing his pleasure. He had an excellent humming voice. Is that even a thing? Or is it just a singing voice? Regardless, she enjoyed listening to him regardless of what kind of sound he was making. The smooth tone of his voice did wonderful things to her nerves and gave flight to the butterflies in her stomach.
“Well,” he said, hesitating. “I found her, guys.” He felt a little weird mentioning Marinette around Ladybug. She hadn’t been online when he had initially discussed his little problem regarding the hard-to-find designer, and now he was wondering if he shouldn’t have just kept it to himself. He and Ladybug had been growing closer over the past few months and it didn’t feel right talking about another girl when she was listening. But he was happy that he had found her and wanted to talk about it to his friends.
“You seriously found her?” Chat Noir asked. “Congrats! I’m glad it worked out for you.”
Carapace began giggling into his microphone, trying hard to hold back his laughter but failing miserably in the end.
“Hey, are you okay?” Chat’s voice sounded confused. What was so funny about Viperion finding the girl he’d been searching for? Chat was happy that his friend would finally be able to talk to her about her design. Plus, it was really sweet that he’d been so affected by her that he kept hearing her song in his head. He wasn’t really sure what that meant exactly, but Viperion obviously couldn’t forget about the girl… A feeling he knew all too well.
“Hold on a second,” Rena said. “Who is ‘her’?” She knew that her friend had a minor fascination with their reptilian clan mate, but if he was off the market, that would make things difficult for her to ship them together. She’d been trying for weeks to get Nino to tell her who he was, but her boyfriend was even harder to crack than his namesake.
“I first mentioned her to the guys about a month ago. You and Ladybug weren’t on that night, so I guess they didn’t tell you about it, huh?”
“No,” She replied through clenched teeth. “Carapace definitely did not mention that you were looking for some random girl.”
Carapace’s nervous chuckle echoed in their headsets. He was sure that his girlfriend would give him hell for not telling her about it later.
“Anyway, I’ve been looking for someone for a while now and I finally found her the other day.”
“That’s awesome, Viperion,” Chat cheered. He was a sucker for happy endings, especially since his own life felt like such a tragedy.
“Oh, Chat, if you only knew…” Carapace’s cryptic response confused everybody, but he quickly changed the subject before they could ask him about it. “So, are you going to see her again?”
“Yeah, we’re going to get together again later this week,” he replied, his anticipation palpable for them to hear.
“Aw, that’s great,” Chat cooed. “Good luck, buddy.”
A loud smack filtered through their headsets. Unbeknownst to the other listeners, Nino had slapped his forehead in exasperation at how completely clueless his friends were. Seriously, it was too much for him to take sometimes.
“That’s…awesome, Viperion. It’s just…awesome. If you’re so interested in her, she must be just…awesome.” Ladybug’s voice was stilted and they all could tell that something had upset their friend.
“Girl, you okay?” Rena had hoped that she wouldn’t be upset by this development, but it looked like it was inevitable. She sighed, knowing that she’d be doing damage control soon.
“Yeah, Rena, I’m awesome. I just remembered that I had this…thing I had to do so I’m gonna log off. I’ll talk to you later.”
With that, her avatar disappeared, indicating that she was now offline.
Viperion was concerned. Ladybug usually wasn’t the type of player to quit in the middle of battle, especially a boss battle. It was apparent that something had bothered her about the direction their conversation had taken. Maybe she was disappointed that he had been talking about stuff that had happened in the real world, something she was adamant about keeping separate from gaming. He felt guilty for driving her away. “Was it something I said?” he asked his friends.
“Dude,” Carapace said seriously, “you have no idea…”

It’s been almost a week since the fashion show and Luka’s patience was finally paying off.
Finally, after months of being stuck in the middle of the tug-of-war game between Mr. Roth and Jagged Stone, he’s been set free.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t mind being forced to come to the studio day after day to play for his idol, but the futility of the exercise and the fact that he had something else he would much rather be doing was enough to make the normally patient man quite irritable. His sister had even commented that he seemed to be on edge lately and wondered what the cause for it was.
But now, thank god, Vivica was back from her maternity leave and ready to take his place as Jagged’s guitarist. Luka didn’t mind being a temporary replacement. After all, he had no grand ambitions of being a rock star or anything. He just loved to play, even if it was playing someone else’s music.
Though, considering everything he and Jagged had worked on had been scrapped, it wasn’t as if he’d be given any sort of credit for the time he put in at the studio.
He didn’t let that bother him. He knew that if Jagged needed him again, he’d be there to play for him, no matter how frustrating the circumstances were.
The silver lining to the whole situation was that now he was free to pursue his current interest: a Miss Marinette DuPain-Cheng.
Resting his bike against the side of the bakery, he looked up at the storefront with a barely suppressed smile gracing his face. He’d been looking forward to seeing her again. He’d refrained from texting her until he would be able to see her for his fitting, even though every fiber of his being wanted to reach out to her.
Adjusting the acoustic guitar strapped to his back, he entered the shop where he was immediately comforted by the warm ambiance of the bakery. Sabine was behind the counter, as always. When she looked up at the bell ringing and saw him, she greeted him with a smile as sweet at the macaroons she was boxing up for a customer.
“Luka! Welcome back, sweetie. We haven’t seen you in a couple of days and I was starting to worry about you.”
He grinned down at the tiny Asian woman. Despite his true motive for frequenting the bakery in the past, he honestly had missed the gentle woman. However, he’d never admit to her that he’d actually been coming to the bakery so often in an attempt to track down her daughter. He didn’t think that admission would go over so well. Especially since he’d heard about how fiercely protective Tom DuPain was of his only daughter.
“I’m sorry I haven’t been by lately. Work has been keeping me busy, unfortunately.” He walked up to the counter. “But now I’ve got some time to spare, so I came to visit.”
She laughed. “Don’t bother trying to suck up to me. I know you’re here to see Marinette. She told me you’d found one of her designs and wanted her to make it for you.”
His eyebrows raised. Guess he was busted. “She told you about that, huh?”
She nodded. “Yes, she did, dear. I’m just surprised that you were able to find her based only on one of her drawings.”
He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “I actually have you to thank. I made the connection when I delivered that fabric to her room. I saw her designs on the wall and I recognized her signature.”
“Ah,” she said knowingly. “So that’s why you became such a regular customer.” Her usually cheerful face fell into a disappointed frown. “And here I thought you were coming for my pastries.”
Luka raised his hands in surrender. “I did come for your pastries. Honestly. They’re the best in the city! I would have come even if Marinette wasn’t here.” He spoke quickly, hoping to avoid offending the petite woman.
Taking pity on the poor boy, she started to laugh. “Relax, sweetie. I know.” She nodded her head toward the stairs that led to their apartment. “Head on up. She’s expecting you.”
Relieved that Mrs. Cheng didn’t hold his true motive for all his visits to the bakery against him, he climbed up the multiple staircases to Marinette’s space.
Upon opening her trap door, he could see that she was definitely not expecting his arrival.
Hunched over her desk, she looked almost possessed by whatever it was she was working on in her notebook. Her hair is pulled back in a messy bun and there’s a spare pencil tucked behind her ear. There’s another pencil between her clenched teeth as her almost crazed eyes scanned the page. With a growl, she grabbed a white eraser and began to furiously attack the paper with it. With a frustrated growl, she tossed the eraser aside, she used the pencil between her teeth to continue working.
It was obvious to Luka that she hadn’t heard the thump of the trap door opening, so rather than interrupt her work, he simply walked over to her pink chaise lounge and made himself comfortable. She was so interesting to watch when she was focused on a task. He could see her energy barely contained in her movements. Her hand jerked and swept across the paper.
Inspired by the movements her pencil made as she created her own form of beauty, he brought his guitar around and began to quietly play. Tempo fast, notes discordant, he created a melody to accompany the frantic dance of her hand.
Minutes pass before Marinette registered the music playing at the edge of her senses. Glancing toward the source, she was shocked to see Luka sitting with his legs folded under him to support the guitar he was playing.
With a squeak, she began to apologize. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t hear you come in.”
He didn’t even look at her as he continued to play, transitioning from her frantic song, to a slower melody, its gentle chords slowing her heartbeat and easing her tension. “It’s okay. I understand what it is to be taken over by inspiration. To have the world around you fall away and nothing else exists but what you’re creating.”
Her shoulders relaxed. Of course, he would get it. Feeling much more relaxed and less embarrassed at being caught in the midst of a designing storm, she released the breath she hadn’t known she’d been holding. “Thanks for your understanding. Just give me a minute to get this cleaned up and we can get started getting your measurements.”
She quickly gathered the papers scattered around her desk and stuffed them haphazardly in a folder.
“There’s no rush.” He looked up at her then, eyes piercing through his hair. “I like watching you work. The way your hand flies over the page as your drawing, it’s almost like a dance.” He smiled softly at her blank expression. “I was just providing some music for you to dance to.”
Marinette’s mind went blank as she stared dumbly at the musician.
“Yes., well, yeah…” She didn’t know what to say to that. What do you say to something like that? How do you respond to something so beautiful? “Let’s get started, shall we?”
Kissing any chance of this not being an embarrassing experience for both of them goodbye, she gestured to the stool in the middle of the room for him to climb on so she could take his measurements.
‘Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?’ she asked herself once more.

Chapter 14
*Sorry for the delay. I wasn't certain on where I wanted the story to go from here, but I finally figured it out. My original plan was to have 29 chapters to this story, to go along with the 29 days of Lukanette February prompts. Now, I'm not sure if I want to drag it out for that long. But I DO know that there will be at least a few more chapters to this. There's a lot of things I need to resolve before I can say "and they lived happily ever after" or whatever.
Special thanks to @novicevoice, @skatsh18, @macaknight, and @unabashedbookworm for your comments. I’m glad you all like this story I’ve come up with. Your kind words are very much appreciated <3
Until next time, my lovelies XOXO*

Ok I've been tagged to a bit of tag games a while ago so I'm doing all of them in a single post. I feel like with some of them I was tagged by more than one person so sorry if I forgot to mention anyone,,
I was tagged by @shot-tothestars and @bluelric. Thank you for thinking about me <3
Rules: tag 10 follows you’d like to know better (Btw I don't get what does that mean? Do I have to tag people one follows, or people they're followed by?)
(Also I'm just skipping the questions I don't like, but here's all of them for reference in case someone else wants to do it!)
Cats or dogs: Definitely dogs!!
Current time: 12:14 pm when I started, then I stopped and now as the exact moment I'm posting this it's 01:20 am
Favorite animal: Uhm probably seaguls? But I really like birds in general, they look so free from everything. And cool marine creatures!!
When I made this blog: First post is from June the 13th!
Reason for url: Explained here :)
Tagging: Nobody here because I answered half of the questions so I don't find it fair to ask somebody to do it lol.
Tagged by @shot-tothestars; Again thank for tagging me; and feel free to hmu any time if you feel like it, I swear I don't bite XD
Rules: Tag 9 people you want to know better/catch up with
Three ships: Excluding tpn because that would be lame, the first that come to my mind are Bones x Kirk - Star Trek, (platonic) Elsa / Anna - Frozen, All Might x happiness - My Hero Academia. Now that I think about it, I've never been much of a shipping person? I personally find platonic relationships much more interesting.
Last song: The Opera - Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Since it's quite a long song, I listen to it significantly less than the other songs from the recording- it's still a beautiful song tho.
Last movie: I may be wrong but I think it was J. J. Abrams' Super 8. I remember being very scared by it when I was younger, so I wanted to see if watching it again now it would have still scared me. It didn't, but it was a nice movie nonetheless!
Currently reading: Unfortunately I don't read much for myself during school, and even when it's finished I find it very hard to get back on track; but I really want to read War and Peace so that's probably the one I'm starting next- together with Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground because I can't possibly read just one book at once.
Currently watching: Some things. Avatar: The Last Airbender, Death Note, rewatching Kill la Kill with my cousin; also sporadically watching Steven Universe episodes and Law & Order (the original plus SVU) whenever it plays on TV. As bonus, I just finished watching Japan Sinks and Little Witch Academia. (I hadn't realized until now how many things I was watching and had watched, wow?? I'm glad I didn't waste time.)
Currently consuming: Nothing? Should I?
Food i’m craving: Uhm... The Wok to Walk I ate back in London last year... There's so many good places to eat in London and I live in a small small town with nothing to eat, it makes me want to cry ;;;;;;
Tagging: The last three people in my dms @fandoms-and-shitpost, @puff-poff, @acaderhmic; the last three people in my notes @illbecryinginthecorner, @cookiespace, @galezea; the last three people who followed me @yeoshin-est, @losertea, @soulessgingersthings.
Tagged by @bluelric and @stray-tori. Again thank you so much <3
Rules: Answer 17 questions and tag 17 people! (Please make sure to create a new post rather than reblogging!)
Nicknames: Tag? I love the nicknames you don't chose yourself, I think it's a cute thing
Age (the long lost question everyone was wondering about): Newly 19 bby 😎
Zodiac: Cancer according to astrology and Gemini according to astronomy (I don't really believe in astrology tho,,)
Height: I really have no idea. Average??
Last thing I googled: "little witch academia"
Song stuck in my head: Drift Away - Steven Universe: The Movie.
Number of followers: Really peoples one of the best things about Tumblr is not showing the followers number, thus making it easier for smaller and bigger blogs to interact, and not creating some sort of social classes based on ephemeral and currish arbitrary assigned popularity values. Why should I tell my followers number.
n followers I love very much <3
Amount of sleep: 6/7 hours (4/5 on school days)
Lucky number: ? Dunnot? I like even numbers
Dream job: Uhm something where I can give my best to significantly do something to change the world for the better - hopefully doing something I'm especially good at. Like, putting my abilities to the service of the community. I'll start studying political science at university! (I don't really aim to become a politician tho)
Wearing: I've spent more than one hour looking for an imagine of my shirt on the internet, but, as I should have expected, it seems like clothes companies delete the public data about older collections. Anyway, it's a cute, white, very light shirt with short sleeves. It's got thin vertical stripes of various pastel colors and it's made of a kinda rough material I can't seem to identify. Under that there's high-waisted, light blue jeans. I like this outfit, I find it pretty. I like wearing pretty things even when I'm staying home, it makes me feel good about myself.
Favorite song: With no hesitations, No One Else - Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. The only doubt I have is if I prefer Phillipa Soo's or Denée Benton's version.
Favorite instruments: Probably piano; second place is cello.
Favorite author: Of what? If this is about books, I don't feel like I read enough to give a fair answer, but so far Dostoevsky and Kafka really stuck with me.
Favorite animal sound: Seaguls' squeal!!!! But also lil birdies' chirping.
Aesthetic: Docks!! The seaguls screaming in the air. The sun shining in the blue sky, originating mesmerizing reflects on the sea, like millions of dimonds. All the smells in the world concentrated in just one place. The movement, the life!! So many sights, smells, flavors and feelings mixing together. The ephemeral beauty of catching, for a single moment, the sight of something marvelous and extraordinary, and never getting to see it again, but cherishing this exaggerated memory of that serendipity. The hectic atmosphere of people going to and fro. The concept of connecting different cultures, the concept of leaving for new adventures. Just one place filled with complete strangers all so different, all so unique, where you can disappear - but without losing yourself. I just find harbors neat!
Random: My posts follow a 4 fanart posts/ 4 text posts (or 2 fanart posts/ 2 text posts) pattern; it physically hurts to mess up, thus it can happen that some of the most recent reblogs may disappear for a while (but they always come back ;)
Tagging: @neverlandstrio, @idlyingabout , @holy-mantequilla, @vapidsoup, @dpgoinghost, @chidoroki, @lovesick-lovely, @ueno-ito-en, @x-supernova, @notelectrictiger12, @bubblesandpages, @joy-in-gold-shadows, @thathilomgirl, @yalikejazzmydude, @neo--queen--serenity, @wheatormeat, @icyhotsparkybroccoli but really feel free to ignore this if you don't like this stuff
And everyone else who wants to do this (or any of the others!!)

Commissions Open
Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well and this year has been more than a little crazy. However, I figure to help make the year a little easier and help out for some future plans, I’m going to be reopening commissions.
There will be 5 slots. I don’t want to overwhelm myself and I don’t want to suddenly keep a lot of people waiting in case my job situation does change. This will first come/first serve. I will only be accepting stuff via ask or tumblr messenger. That means no anons. I need to actually communicate with anyone interested in commissions.
Details Under the Read More:
Headcanons (Examples): These will cost $10.00 as a base fee. With headcanons, I try to go in depth with the concept you wish to discuss. This won’t really feature an POV of the character in question. Their point of view can be explored but it generally is done in my perspective. The $10 will buy you the first 1,500 words completely free of charge with an extra dollar for every 100 words. The word count will be rounded up if it’s over 50.
Drabbles (Example): The cost will be $15.00 as a base fee. As opposed to the head canons, the POV will now be focused solely on the character you wish to focus on. Have you wanted to see the character in a school setting? Maybe fighting crime? Perhaps doing something mundane or magical? Maybe doing some complicated fighting? I will be happy to do it. Like before, the $15 will buy the first 1,500 words, with an extra dollar for everyone 100 words. The word count will be rounded up if it’s over 50.
Character/Story Consultation: Do you require an editor or second opinion on your work of latest creation? At $10.00 for a character and $20.00 for a fan fic (per chapter), I will schedule a time with you over tumblr, discord, or google to go over your desired work of fiction or character.
Extra Costs:
Brand New Verse: If you wish me to write about a headcanon or drabble that does not exist in any media, this will cost an extra $5.00 if I accept to do this. I’m literally breaking brand new ideas and won’t try to half ass anything. This will also add another 500 words. Examples of this may include: “What sort of Pokemon lineup would Vox Machina of Critical Role have”, “What types of benders would the cast of Sailor Moon be”, or “Who would win the Hunger Games from the cast of Batman Beyond?”.
NSFW: I can accept and write NSFW, but I have full reign to also deny those requests. I do not wish to write incest, no pedophilia, and nothing illegal. This will also add another 500 words to your story. This will also cost a $5.00 charge on this.
Original Character: If you want to include an original character of your choosing into the story, I can. I will require samples and this will cost an additional $5.00 as I’m working with something a tad unfamiliar. I may also be asking you a little more often about certain actions or choices said original character might do.
General Questions:
I wish to buy multiple headcanons/drabbles from you? Can this all count as one slot?
For the time being, no. I don’t want to be unfair to you or any other potential customer so in this case, one commission equals one slot. If I finish up all the slots and wish to continue this, I may change this rule.
Can I only commission Batman Beyond from you? What if I want a headcanon or drabble about something else?
I’m happy to accommodate! I have a ton of experience in several different fandoms and I’m happy to take a stab at something if you’d like to.
What fandoms are you interested in writing?
The absolutely easiest ones I can write about as a setting or with characters would be the following: DC Comics, DCAU (DC Animated Universe), Young Justice, Marvel, MCU, Marvel Exiles, Marvel 2099, Pokemon, Digimon, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Sailor Moon, Dragonball, Naruto, One Piece, Persona, BNHA/MHA/Hero Academia, American McGee’s Alice, TMNT, Final Fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons, Critical Role, Avatar: TLA/LOK, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, Steven Universe, Kamen Rider, Game of Thrones, Invader Zim, The Hunger Games, The Promised Neverland, and a few odds and ends here. If you have any concerns or want to check with a fandom I may be familiar with, please don’t hesitate to ask.
If you aren’t familiar with a fandom but I’d like you to write it, will you?
It ultimately depends, but I will certainly try my best. I’ll generally read or watch as much as I can of the fandom to get a better understanding. If there’s a big learning curve (examples being watching say Supernatural or Dr. Who’s mega arcs), I may have to decline. I want to give you the best product I can and not half ass any of my work.
Will you accept any request?
No. If I feel like something is too difficult to write (EX: I’m unaware of the fandom, I’m too uncomfortable to write the material, etc) I will say no and ask if we could find a middle ground or a potential second option. If that’s impossible, then I will deny the request.
Can you do freebies?
I have to decline from doing freebies at this time.
Can you write about my original character and a canon character?
Sure. As stated earlier, I will be asking for references as much as possible if I’m totally unfamiliar with a character of your creation.
How and when do I pay for commissions?
We can sum it with these quick steps:
1) Following the requests and any questions, I will calculate the cost and email you an invoice. The invoice must be paid in full in order to proceed.
2) During said process, I will begin work immediately on your request. If the word count will go over the requested amount, I will notify you and give you the option to take a shortened story ato your desired word count or we can renegotiate to allow more words and a secondary invoice will be made. Once again, no progress will be done until the invoice is paid.
3) Once all invoices are paid, I will deliver the product to you via tumblr or via email.
What is your turnaround rate for writing?
This ultimately depends on how many commissions I have lined up as well. I do have a 50+ hour work week but I am eager to work on your story when I have time. I try to at least complete a project in 1 to 2 weeks upon beginning. If I need additional time, I will notify you of this.
Can I do anything with the story afterwards?
Absolutely. You paid for the drabble/headcanon. You can post it anywhere you’d like. Depending on how I feel about certain headcanons or drabbles and if I can post it on my blog or Ao3, I will absolutely do so.
I suddenly had an idea and wanted to change my SFW story to be NSFW or vice versa. Can this be done?
I will only allow up to 2 major changes like this. If you wish to add something, the additional charges will be done to the final payment. As stated above, I will not release the product until payment is complete. If you wish to remove charges, I will not refund you. However, I will attempt to increase the word count to make this a fairly even trade.
What would constitute a major change?
As mentioned above, changing the format of the story from SFW to NSFW or vice versa. Also included would be wishing to add new original characters. Things such as “character goes to a picnic when we agreed upon a restaurant” or requests in a similar vein would not count as a major change.
What if I have more than 2 major changes for the fic?
I’ll ask that you request a new commission.
Can I simply donate to you?
You may if you wish!
I don’t have any money but do wish to support you. How may I do that?
Reblog and spread the word! This will only be for a limited time.
Why should I buy a commissions?
I have a little over 20 years of writing experience in several formats and fandoms. Aside from what you can find on the blog, I have assisted in creating unique battle scripts and plots for my own original projects and writing partners. I have created several unique plots with several praising the quality of work and creativity on display.
