Hehehehe anon I hope you're still here bc I'm BACK to be a menace to the 9-1-1 fandom (be completely ignored) and yet they can't get rid of me!)

I started a rewatch so I'd be ready for season 7 then I remembered it won't be (legally) available in Australia for ages... and kept watching anyway bc it's been so long since I did a complete rewatch from s1 e1. It's been SUCH a treat.

I've also got a friend watching for the first time and their excitement is reminding me so much of the first time I saw this bunch of adults in firefighter uniforms and went oh.

Anywho- on to the fic!

"Eddie, hold up!"

Eddie glanced over his shoulder, frowning when he spotted Bobby jogging down the stairs.

"What's up, Cap?"

"I know you're going home but I was hoping you could check on Buck. He just called out and I need to organise someone to cover him."

Eddie paused, brows furrowed.

"Did he say why?"

"I was hoping he'd told you."

That reminded Eddie- he hadn't heard from Buck all shift which was very unusual. He shifted his bag to his other shoulder and reached into his back pocket for his phone, checking his messages.

"I've got nothing, but I'll let you know what I find."

"Thanks Eddie."

Bobby squeezed his arm then headed back upstairs, calling out goodbye to Hen, Chim and Ravi who were also going home after a long 24 hours. Eddie also waved at them, sending a quick text to Buck to warn him he was stopping by. He was hoping Buck had a minor cold but something told him to stop by a pharmacy on his way over just in case.

One visit to CVS later and Eddie was letting himself into Buck's apartment, plastic bag in hand. The apartment was eerily quiet as he stepped inside, unusual because even if he was upstairs for a moment Buck usually had the TV in the living room playing for background noise. Eddie dumped the plastic bag and double checked the living area for signs of life, poked his head into the downstairs bathroom, and then took the steps to the mezzanine level. His eyebrows knit together in confusion as he took in the rumpled blankets, the empty water bottles strewn throughout the room, and Buck-

Buck.

"What happened to you?"

Eddie knelt by the Buck-shaped figure in bed, finding his shoulder and giving it a gentle shake.

"Ugh, Eddie no, don't. I'll puke again."

"Again?"

Buck groaned, turning his head. Blue eyes met brown and Eddie put the back of his hand to Buck's forehead.

"You're a little warm. How long have you been puking?"

"What time is it?"

"Nearly 1pm."

"Almost twelve hours."

Buck leaned into Eddie's touch, eyes fluttering shut into a grimace when Eddie pulled the blankets off.

"C'mon, sit up. Let me get a better look."

Unwillingly Buck did as asked, leaning against the headboard.

"Does anything else hurt?"

"My head and my stomach; I think I ate something bad."

"Wait here."

Eddie hefted himself back up, rounding the bed to go back downstairs. Buck huffed, swiping at his eyes.

"Not like I can go anywhere!"

He grumbled, playing with a loose thread on his boxers.

"Not without puking at least."

He glanced up when he heard footsteps on the stairs and Eddie reappeared, plastic CVS bag in hand.

"What are you doing?" Buck asked, watching Eddie dump it on the end of the bed and rifle through it for a moment.

"I got you something... aha!"

He produced a bottle of Pedialyte and a plastic cup he must have grabbed from downstairs, pouring a serving of the liquid and then handing it to Buck.

"Bottoms up."

"Eddie," Buck groaned, "I-"

"-I know, you're really nauseous. Just trust me."

Eddie's never led him astray before and he's not likely to start now. Not after everything. Not after last summer.

Eddie still gets a funny look on his face when Buck brings up that random Friday morning kiss. It's not regret, it's never regret, just... well. Buck's not really sure. He's never seen Eddie like that.

He downed the Pedialyte.

The nausea reached its peak a few minutes later and it was only Eddie's quick dad/medic responses that got the trash can under Buck's chin in time. He'd been sitting on the other side of the bed, flicking through the channels to find something to watch considering it was almost 2pm. The minute Buck scrambled to sit up again after being asleep for almost an hour Eddie had grabbed the trash can and handed it to him with lightning fast reflexes, instinctively rubbing Buck's back. When Buck resurfaced Eddie handed him a tissue, switching that for the soiled bin liner.

"Here. You- uh."

"Thanks."

Buck's voice was hoarse as he wiped himself off, cheeks flushed a gentle pink. Whether that was from the fever, the humiliation of throwing up in front of his crush or a combination of both he wasn't willing to think too hard about. Eddie hefted himself off the bed, taking the trash can from his hands.

"Back in a sec."

He headed for the ensuite and Buck listened to the toilet flush then the sink run, hand slapping out to reach for his water bottle Eddie had kindly refilled earlier. A couple sips settled without issue in his stomach and he adjusted when Eddie reappeared, placing the bin back down beside Buck before flopping on to the bed with him and reaching into his back pocket for his phone.

"Chris said they're starting Earth Sciences this week," he said absentmindedly as he replied to whatever was going on then tossed his phone on to the bedside table and glanced over at Buck.

"How are you doing?"

"I'm gonna sue them," Buck complained pitfully as he lay back down, burying his head into his pillow. Eddie snorted.

"Careful Buck, remember last time you did that?"

An eye opened, the blue a stark contrast against the dark sheets, but then Buck smiled.

"I'll sue you too Eddie Diaz."

Eddie rolled his eyes as he swatted at Buck's shoulder, grabbing the remote again.

"Sure you will, man. Now what do you want to watch?"

Buck hummed, scrubbing at his eyes.

"Mmmmm... nothing food related."

Eddie flicked past an old rerun of Martha Stewart, nodding.

"Of course."

The clock struck five and Eddie carefully extracted himself from where Buck had somehow managed to curl up with his head on Eddie's thigh and was having another sick nap. He checked his phone and saw the notification that the food was almost there so he went into the kitchen and grabbed bowls. He heard someone knock on the door and went over to take the food from the delivery guy, thanking him as he carried it back to the kitchen island. In a couple minutes he had Buck's broth in a bowl and warm, his own stir fry hot and begging to be eaten. Considering Eddie had just come off a 24 hour shift when he headed to "check" on Buck, the food was very welcome and he took a couple bites for himself before sneaking upstairs to check on Buck. He was still asleep and for the first time since Eddie had barged into his apartment, he didn't look like he was uncomfortable. A part of Eddie felt cruel for waking him but the other part of him, the medic part, knew Buck needed something in his stomach that wasn't Pedialyte or water.

"Hey, Buck, come eat something," he called up the stairs. Eddie heard Buck groan followed by the sound of him trying to get out of bed.

"Eddie I'm dying," he groaned. Eddie rolled his eyes.

"You're clearly feeling better if you're complaining about dying. C'mon, come down here."

Sure enough, Buck made his way downstairs in a pair of athletic shorts and a shirt just as Eddie tossed a spoon down on the table beside the bowl. He collapsed into the seat in front of the soup, one eye on the downstairs bathroom door.

"Try and keep that down then we can talk about something solid."

"Thanks, Eds."

Buck picked up the spoon and tentatively worked on getting the soup down; Eddie joined him after a minute and practically chewed through his stir fry without even thinking about it. Nothing could ever be as good as Bobby's-

Oh, that's what he forgot.

Bobby: is everything okay?

Bobby: Eddie?

Eddie: sorry Bobby I completely forgot

Eddie: he's got food poisoning but he's already coming out the other side

Bobby: I figured you'd call if there were issues. Thanks Eddie

Buck, sitting beside Eddie working on his soup, raised an eyebrow as Eddie put his phone down.

"What's Chris up to?"

"Hopefully not begging Carla for a second serving of ice cream. No; that was Bobby. He was worried when you called in."

Buck frowned; Eddie could see where his mind was going and touched his shoulder.

"I would have come to check on you if I'd known even if he didn't ask. You don't call out of work unless you're contagious or it's serious."

Buck pushed away the soup, elbow on the table so he could rest his head on his hand. Eddie reached over to check him for a fever again.

"How do you feel?" He asked. Buck made the so-so motion.

"My head hurts."

"Go lie on the couch; I'll change your sheets so you can go to bed."

"Eddie no, you don't have to-"

"-Buck, it's clean sheets; not a marriage proposal."

Buck's mouth twitched upward into a smile; Eddie squeezed his shoulder and left the table to go upstairs. Buck watched after him with a warm feeling in his stomach.

It wasn't nausea.

When Buck stirred the next morning he paused, grimacing to take stock of the situation. His head was down to a gentle (irritating) throb against his temples but his stomach was staying put for the time being. The sheets were still tucked over him and he yawned into his hand, rolling over and tossing an arm over his bed mate-

Wait.

Cracking his eyes open Buck took stock of the situation. He knew he'd been sick again sometime overnight, barely able to remember tossing cookies (soup) because it had come out of nowhere in his doze. Part of him remembered Eddie being there, a figure in the darkness and he'd-

He'd stayed.

"Eddie," Buck whispered. Eddie cracked an eye open and reached his arm out, brushing a thumb over Buck's cheek.

"You look better," he rasped. Buck hummed.

"You didn't have to stay."

"Hm, well, maybe I wanted to."

Buck's eyes fluttered shut as he revelled in the feeling of Eddie's thumb on his cheek. When Eddie was half asleep he could be incredibly tactile and Buck lived for when he got to see Eddie like that.

"No one needs to see-"

"-Buck. I want to know when you're sick, or you're hurting. Whatever it is."

Buck's cheeks flushed and he buried his face back against his pillow. Eddie's hand moved to the back of his neck, brushing through the ends of his hair like it was something he did all the time.

"Thanks for coming, Eddie."

"Sure."

Eddie gently squeezed Buck's shoulder.

It felt like coming home.

So about that scene in WN where Beatrice is reading that journal entry to Ava...

I’ve only watched Warrior nun once this weekend, but I went back to rewatch this scene in particular and, there is just SO SO much to unpack from the suitcase this scene dropped on my lap

1. Ava being like daamn she's translating straight from french that's hot (ava is someone who has effectively so far, missed on her entire life, missed on the most basic stuff walking, sensory tactile daily input, socialization outside of abuse. So she's truly getting to know and see and experience everything for the first time, she is hungry for living and knowing and finding out. So in this sense ofc it makes absolute sense that she'd be attracted to Beatrice who is pretty much a walking library, she's attracted to her on an instinctual level from moment one, she's just not rationalized yet that she is, but the magnetism is there)

2. Ava repeating the word lesbich, because ofc her golden retriever brain would be like hey I know a whole new word and in a foreign language how cool is that?!! While also being painfully unaware that that word carries so much weight and pain for Beatrice and must be likely cringing internally to have the object of her affection just throwing the word around like it's nothing

3. Ava's 'yeah she did!'. Once again reaching only an initial level of analysis and being excited because the nun in the story is a bada$s who just won't put up with abuse, cause in her eyes that must be literally so cool therefore violence and retribution is righteous.

4. And then being crestfallen when she's notices Beatrice strong reaction to the whole story, then she's capable of grasping a deeper level of understanding of everything that's behind. It's not just retribution, it's hatred and fear and abject pain. She gets a glimpse of the other side of the coin, what the nun in the story/Beatrice deals with. A blinding rage, and overwhelming pain. It's not justice driving the sword, it's trauma. Her facial expression switched in seconds as does her approach to the rest of the story.

5. Now she's able to see a connection between the warrior nun in this journal and Bea, she knows it is something primal but still can't put her finger exactly on what, yet she can feel that an immense pain is the thread that weaves both the story and Bea's visceral response to it.

6. Bea's realization that she's isn't the only one, she's not the only gay warrior sister. Up to this point I'm sure she must have felt isolated even inside her religious community, which became her family. They know who she is, but they don't know her completely. But there was someone just like her, through time, even at the distance she's not alone, and she can also reach that feeling of being fully herself and at peace (I’ll forever wonder how Bea related to Shanon and Mary about this specific point).

7. Bea being pissed at Ava's obliviousness. Ava being so close to the central theme of the story but still failing to connect they last final dots, which would save Bea an enormous amount of time working to an admission or confession of her love (which we actually didn't get, only after Ava was gone. Not even when Ava kissed her, not even when Ava took the leap and actually said I love you. Bea just wasn't going to be able to take those steps on time), if Ava could just realize by herself what Bea is feeling for her... But she doesn't and then Bea snaps because rly ava?! C'mon work with us here.

8. Bea's gut wrenching admission that she became an academic overachiever to compensate for being gay. Now this is actually personal to me and I'm sure to most of the queer community, we've been there. Bea at some point literally felt she had no value as a person, only through discipline and excellence in everything she does :’( she probably still feels that way, up until meeting Ava.

9. Bea dead a$s saying: 'What (who) you love, what (who) should make you happy only brings you pain'... while looking directly at ava.... Ava, sweaty, darling, honey baby, adoptive child of literal divine light, god’s chosen champion... my sister in Christ. Bea is pouring out her bleeding heart, looking straight into your eyes, admitting that even tho she loves you and you make her happy, you bring her pain. And in so many ways, as a christian believer/nun who's been told her whole life that being gay means your are doomed and automatically going to super hell, as a young queer woman who has gone to the almost ultimate stage of self denial of herself and her sexuality by becoming a nun, as a sister warrior entrusted with the safety of the halo bearer, as Ava’s very first and actual close friend, as a gay mess who’s trying so hard to keep her feelings on check because her relationship to Ava involves literally the world’s salvation and she has no idea if Ava is exclusively straight/or remotely queer. I cannot even with this specific exchange pls. This pained me on a molecular level because I was transported to my crush on a girl I met at bible camp when I was a prepubescent. (Yes I was at one point and against my will, an uncool christian nerd I’m no stranger to christianity and its multicomplex traumatic interseccion with queerness). And I still to this day wonder what became of Irene my Bible camp crush

10. Ava (despite not reaching the full understanding of the situation that Bea would like her to have) is emotionally smart, so whatever it is that's bothering Bea so much, she'll offer to listen to her, and if she isn't ready to do so, she can wait; but in the meantime she'll make damn sure to let Bea know that Beatrice isn't just 'barely acceptable', nor 'simply enough'. She is seen, she is full, whole and beautiful.

I did NOT need to have Beatrice thrusted upon me, introduced only to be taken away like this. I was living just fine without this knowledge, but yet here we are

Kaeya has heard the little rumors about you searching for beautiful and young women and steal their hearts

Of course he didn't believe it one bit so he traveled around looking for you specifically

After awhile he came across your 'castle' which looked nothing like an actual castle

Before coming in he knocked a couple times and invited himself in where he saw you placing wood on some fire

Kaeya thought you'd be hostile by him entering your home, but surprisingly you were pretty laid back about it and even offered him tea

He did hesitate a bit and accepted your offer

After some time, Kaeya had gotten to know those rumors that were spreading around about you weren't actually true

He found out you were much sweeter and a charming person just from spending an hour and 23 minutes with you

You grew very fond of Kaeya to the point you even gave him a ring so whenever he wanted to come find you he could

Childe was skeptical about the rumors about you

Who would waste their precious time to find a beautiful woman just to eat her heart or steal her soul?

Sounds kind of fictional

Yes he wasn't a women, but he wanted to see if any of that was true so nearly went to every corner of the world just to find you castle which was a little too big for comfort

Of course he was curious and decided he would just walk on in

He was a little taken aback and bothered by how unclean everything was till he saw you

He did get on the offensive mode since he didn't know what you would do, but surprisingly you weren't even bothered about the fact he was here

Childe did stay on edge as the two of you chat before asking you about the rumors to where you look kind of offended and sad at the same time

You did deny the rumors being true so that allowed Childe to be more comfortable around you

The last thing Sebastian wanted to do was find someone who most likely can be dangerous in a way

But, he had no choice cause Ciel had ordered him to

So here he is staring up at a rusty yet ugly 'castle' that was settled in a very beautiful area

He did knock at the door since he's so polite and walked in

The inside was much more horrifying than he'd think so he spent some time cleaning it up

That was until he saw the color of the circle change to black and you appeared pretty surprised

Sebastian being Sebastian asked you about the rumors before you could even settled in and you quickly denied it since you weren't that kind of person

He was a bit suspicious especially from the fact you were talking with a fire demon

But he let it go and eventually reported it back to Ciel

The Queen had asked him and Sebastian to investigate about the rumors that involved you

The two especially Ciel, have seen what you castle looked like from afar so it wouldn't be too hard to try and find it

Turns out it was much harder than they thought since it was in the middle of nowhere on top of a very cold mountain

Ciel was the first to just go inside since it was freezing out there but quickly regretted it since the inside was hideous and now there was a talking fire complaining to him about god knows what

When you came back you were pretty surprised two random strangers where in your house

And of course you didn't expect any guest

Ciel did a small interrogation on you asking you all sorts of questions which you answered truthfully

They did some looking around the place and saw nothing that'll make the rumors true and before they could leave you asked if they wanted to chat for a bit

Ciel was going to deny it, but seeing how desperate you looked just made him sigh so he stayed for who knows how long and found you pretty interesting to the point he just might come again

Okay so I've been watching Higher Ground on youtube (free with ads), and I have some fucking questions. But before we get carried away, please know that, yes, I am aware that Ep 9 is actually Ep 5. A polite youtube commenter on Ep 6 informed me already, so that's fine, it's fine, we're all good now, we figured that out. -deep breaths- 😤 But before that mess even happened, I'd already felt that I missed something... I mean... there were a few indicators, but most notably Ep 4 played a "previously on" recap featuring a scene in which Hayden Christensen calls Shelby a skank... and that scene straight-up doesn't exist in the first three episodes on youtube!? (I mean, idk, I could be wrong, but I feel like calling someone a skank is pretty memorable... And also I frantically rewatched all relevant episodes like four times at this point.) Between Ep 3 and Ep 4, it also felt like I missed the moment when Hayden changed his relationship status from "finally the adults are making me be single" to "canoodling with Juliette after class"... 🤔 (and no, her bringing him an empty cup of water and snuggling up against him in the cafeteria doesn't explain these atrocities.)

I suspect that youtube might have skipped scenes (or maybe even an entire episode) while uploading the show... I know one (1) scene has been skipped for sure. 😒 And fuck, you guys, if they skipped ONE scene, then what if they skipped OTHER scenes? What if they skipped -gulps- scenes that are more relevant to my interests? Specifically scenes involving a certain step-mom of his? Y'all don't even know what kind of tragedy this would be for me T_T

I tried checking an episode list, but IMDb seems to still be under the impression that Ep 5 is called "What Remains" instead of "Hope Falls" ... so that was a washout...🙄 I tried checking wikipedia which does have an accurate ordering of episodes but still no answers regarding Hayden's little love triangle. 😔 So then, I spent an hour scouring the internet with google searches that still yielded no results 😭 So before I resort to impulse-buying some long-ago DVDs, would some kindhearted person maybe explain these inconsistencies to me?🙏 😭

So now that I've actually watched 10 anime I wanted to rank them from best to worst

1. MSG: the Witch from Mercury; I have not seen any other Gundam show but I don't think this one is leaving #1 spot ever, and Bandai were cowards and homophobic for not showing us either a kiss or the wedding even though they got married, also I'm so mad that I episode 11 during the hug they didn't even say "I love you". The robots became the least interesting part of the robot show (8th I watched)

2. Bocchi the Rock!; probably what I want most anime to be, can't wait for the movie('s), this, G-Witch and Your Name might as well both be #1, also I want a cute Bocchi plush but I can't find one that's affordable without a high delivery :< (7th I watched)

3. Your Name; A movie that I found on a trans subreddit about a year ago, I didn't think it'd be as good as it was or that it'd affect me as much as it did, but I was left in tears when the credits came on, the story went somewhere completely than I thought it would, 10/10. also tied for first place, it deserves to be watched in a movie theater so much (10th I watched)

4. Cowboy Bebop; twink and his bear friend go on space adventures oh and the twink has his own shadow the hedgehog (6th one I watched)

5. BNA: Brand New Animal; the one of 2 studio Trigger show I've seen but from what I've read and heard they have a pretty mid reputation, I really liked it tho, I watched it around the time I came out and it's a pretty good trans allegory (still feel a tad weird about the ending) (4th one I watched)

6. Neon Genesis Evangelion (and the 1st movie); (don't)Get in the robot Shinji, I had been interested in it a bunch, big robots and all that, but only just got to it. The self perpetuating loop of abuse and trauma that Shinji and everyone gets put through because Genduo can't get over the death of his wife is horrible and I can't think of a more despicable antagonist than him, the movie was so fucked up. I still struggle to get what Seele was supposed to represent. I loved every scene where the Eva's get shown as demons, those looked real cool (9th I watched) (watched it entirely cuz of Signalis)

7. Cyberpunk Edgerunners; watched this before I played the game, the abuse that David went through combined with the end that I miss interpreted put me a bit off and I missed the point, but I got it after a rewatch (3rd one I watched)

8. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure; now that I've grown as a person I can safely say that it deserved to drift from spot 1, part 4 is still my fave. And it's still really really good in spite of how low it is (1st I watched)

9. Guilty Gear Xrd & Strive story mode; I am both counting and lumping them together, I liked the oversized Smurf with a gun, also Elphelt bby girl, still would've preferred an actual game tho(5th one I watched)

100000000000. Future Diary; I've watch this in a trade to get someone else to watch JoJo's, they came out better off with that deal, I am also no longer friends with that person (not because of the show but it's funny to mention) (2nd I watched) I still think it's missing some zeros, just add however many you believe it needs

Honorable mentions:

- Signalis; I know it's not an anime but it's anime adjacent and it's the best story I've ever played through, I don't even like horror games or gore at all that much but I will 100% this game and get all the endings, I wish I could talk about it more but spoiling ANYTHING about it feels wrong and making posts where half the words are censored just so fans get it isn't gonna work

- Pokemon; I loved the XYZ and B&W runs but I haven't watched it all and only remember catching it on TV

-Scott Pilgrim takes off, I watched the first few episodes, I don't particularly care for it, but it looks pretty good

Dishonorable mentions:

- Attack on Titan; I've had a run in with the series back when season 1 came out, back when I thought gore was cool, now I have negative interest in the series, I literally couldn't care less and I'm only putting it here to be fair

Conclusion:

After the Witch from Mercury and Evangelion, I don't care for big robots as much as I used to.

Oh and I'm watching some more soon-ish gimme recommendations

1. Three non romantic duos

No one said they don’t have to be obvious, first one is Fedka and Kirillov, THEY ARE JUST IMPORTANT TO ME LIKE-

Perhaps more explenation would be well seen - Fedka is a run away convict, who was sold to the army by Stepan Trofimovic long time ago. Since the beggining of his life, he was dehumanised, because he was born as a serf - he was the property of Verkhovenskys, that is all. And even once he comes back to the city N, he is seen by most as a threat, or as lesser than them (here mostly Pyotr comes to mind), with exception of his family. And then he meets Kirillov - a man, whose whole idea revolves around self sacrifice and belief that once someone learns that they are good, they will be good. And while Fedkas mother was somewhere else, due to family death, Fedka stayed at Kirillovs, drinking tea and talking (also reading Apocalypse). That is to say, he stayed with someone who didn't really see him as a threat, and knew full well he was a murder, and yet treated him with kindness. And what happened? Fedka changed. Well, he still commited the murder, but he did change.

Then we got Cottard and Tarrou from the Plauge…

For those not in the loop, I recently reread the Plauge, and this storyline is similar however not exactly - Cottard is a man who keeps running away from the police, and is lonely. Like has no friends, because no one can relate to his constant fear, and he cannot talk to anyone about his fears because what if someone betrays him and out him to the police. Enter Tarrou - a man who is not a fan of police (due to his past, from what I understood), and who somehow finds out about Cottards constant escape. While Cottard is furious at first, soon he finds out that Tarrou is the only person he can trully talk to. He doesn't judge him, nor can he out him to the police. And they become friends. And at the end of the Plauge, once Tarrou is gone (and the Plauge), Cottard goes insane, because not only he might now be wanted again and no one can relate to him now, but also he lost his friend, the one he trusted the most.

The third is rather a comedic duo, more than a great and deep relationship... but you if I have the Plauge... if I have Demons.. then for the great trinity we have to have 1670 - the duo is Bogdan and Jakub

The reason he is only that they bounce of eachother well - and their subplot about exorcisms was funny. It had to be mentioned though, it was funny.

HIII OMG YES!! i am sooo glad you asked 🥰

dressing up / my aging system

something i've been doing a lot lately (as you can probably tell / will now notice in my almond legacy) is changing their looks to represent their age. in my game, each life stage will have a total of 2 makeovers (teenagers will get 3. the third being the transition into young adulthood). the first makeover is the glow up from whatever they had on when they aged up to how i envision them and then the second makeover is to better show their growth and finding out who they are. typically the makeovers will also represent their age: how i play regarding aging rules is each life stage has 2 ages (with, again, teenagers having 3). i haven't put a whole lot of time or thought into my aging system but it goes a little something like this: - infant: newborn to 1 year - toddler: 2 years old to 4 years old - child: 9 years old to 12 years old - teenager: 17 years old to 18 years old to 19 years old - young adult: 21 years old to 30 years old - adult: 40 years old to 60 years old - elder: 75 years old to death this helps a lot with keeping things feeling fresh and also more realistic. if i'm feeling up to it, i'll even change up their room a bit to represent personal growth and discovery too. if i haven't played in a while, i'll give them an additional makeover because it just gets me more excited to play, idk djkfhg i'll also play with aging off and then manually age my sims and their friends up whenever it feels right. that way i don't feel rushed or have a sim's life feel like it's dragging on.

🌈 imaaagination 🌈

a big part of playing the sims, especially sims 4, is using your imagination and really playing up what's going on. in my current household, for example, abby went to see muffy the day after prom and in my mind, she was there to say "choose between me and him" but obviously that's an impossible interaction to play out in the game.. so i just made it up! and then i took note of muffy's autonomous interactions after this (i.e if she were to call / text / see frankie more often, i would decide that she chose him and if she were to call / text / see abby more, i'd say she chose her)**. this type of gameplay can take some getting used to though. especially if you don't really have any ideas in mind on what to do. which brings me to my next point...

putting the rest under a cut cause i didn't realize how long this would be ♡♡

take inspiration from your favourite shows!!

there's no right or wrong way to play the sims. but drama spices things up a looot. sometimes drama just plays out naturally without any intervention but something you can do is take inspiration from various shows that i've watched (even though i rewatch the same 3 comfort shows DSFLKG) an example of taking inspiration from a show could be having your sim have a best friend at their workplace who they're secretly in love with and trying to remain just friends with (because they're already engaged to someone else).. a la pam x jim from the office. and the best part is that because you're only taking inspiration, it doesn't have to play out the exact same way! using the pam x jim example, i could have my sim fight their bestie's fiancé and end up having their bestie unfriend them in the process as opposed to the engagement being broken off and my sim dating their bestie.

breaks are essential

if you're feeling tired of the sims, take a break from it! play other games, explore other hobbies.. my "process" is typically playing for a week or 2 and then taking a break for a bit when i notice i'm not as excited to play anymore. this helps a lot with avoiding being burnt out from the game. i also always know that that vibe to play will eventually come back which definitely helps!

let the sims control the story

i'll use the previous example of muffy having to choose between abby and frankie. ** by taking note of your sim's autonomous interactions, it allows them to tell their own story instead of you choosing a path for them. once you get a good feel for what your sim is wanting to do (for my example: muffy chooses abby because she interacts with her more), then you can start to play more and decide what they would do based on that information, if that makes sense.

three ships: I ship so much and tbh, I rarely ever come out of a new piece of media without having found at least one romantic or sexual dynamic to be invested in. Right now I am very (!!) fixated on Armand/Louis from the Interview With The Vampire show. Jughead/Veronica from Riverdale have been on my mind all the time since 2018. Oh, and Jason Todd/Talia al Ghul from the Batman universe are the more polished version of everything I loved about Anakin and Padmé from the Star Wars prequels. (See what I did there? Snuck another ship into this because I'm a hedonist. But like, I'd keep those with me if I were stranded on a lonely island.)

first ship: The first ship I thought of before I knew what shipping was, was Wendy Darling and Tiger Lily from Peter Pan. I thought, both were too good for Peter. The first canon ship I was rooting for were probably Anakin and Padmé. The first non-canon ship I shipped as someone who understood what shipping was were either Harry/Cedric from the Harry Potter series or Taichi/Yamato from Digimon.

Are you named after anyone? I've heard this story a buncha times so I'm pretty sure my mom got my birth name from a singer. She heard it on tv and liked it a lot, back then it wasn't a very common name in my country. My names as of now are 50/50, Tom didn't come from anyone but Teddie was 100% something I picked up from Teddie p4, hahah.

When was the last time you cried? Last Sunday when I rewatched ep 11 of Bucchigiri. especially during the part where Zabu got the absolute shit beaten out of him. Finn came home right after that and doesn't understand that one of the big points of media is to reach you emotionally, so he thought it was weird that I was crying.

Do you have kids? Nah, but I'd like to some day, if fate allows it.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Not nearly as much as I used to, because most of my friends are autistic and don't get it most of the time, so I just end up upsetting them whenever I do use it. Being sincere is much more fun anyways.

What sports do you play? None, but I would love to swim or ice skate (or, hell, do some skiing). Neither are really possible for me atm, unfortunately (do you have any idea how expensive skiing is btw. it's crazy). When I was a kid I did gymnastics and streetdance, I also played tennis briefly as a teen, but had to quit due to a lack of people in my age group playing at that club.

What’s the first thing you notice about people? I usually take note of how someone dresses and does their hair. Ever notice how dull most people's clothes are? I like seeing styles that stand out.

What’s your eye colour? Brown, it's not a particularly dark shade, but I wouldn't call it hazel (my dad has hazel eyes though).

Scary movies or happy endings? This ones a little... vague? But I guess if I had to choose... I wouldn't. I don't care about genre or what type of emotional impact it has, as long as it's coherent and entertaining in its own right. (That doesn't mean I don't care about quality btw. I literally just. watch anything and judge it for what it is.)

Any special talents? I'm a boss at packing in groceries quickly and efficiently. Not a talent that everyone possesses, I've learned (sorry Minke <3).

Where were you born? Netherlands babeyyy ✌ North-Holland to be a bit more precise. I lived next to a dyke (not that kind) so I got the real under-sea-level experience. I still live around the area but not in my hometown anymore.

What are your hobbies? Drawing, (writing?), translation and the nuances that come with it, watching movies, tv shows, animes, cartoons, playing video games, reading books, comics and manga. (and then talking about cinematography, parallels, themes, symbolism and the likes) I also collect soda cans (+ the occasional glass bottle), candy packaging, and anime figurines + other merch.

Do you have any pets? My little baby Jody (dog) who I've had since I was 7 years old! She's about to have her sweet 16 on the 23rd (that's in 2 weeks!) she's getting blind and deaf as hell but she's still lively and sweet as ever <3 And my sweet Tiger of course, who's of undetermined age (around 8/9 the vet said) and currently living with my good friend Minke and their 2 other cats (he does not like them) and dog (he is ok with her). He's not with me rn because my mom's bf is allergic, unfortunately.

How tall are you? 1 meter 59. that single centimeter haunts me. I would've also preferred an additional 10 as well.

Favourite subject in school? Art history used to my favourite in high school, and when I was in film school for a brief period I loved film history. I just love anything pertaining to the arts and it's history that involves analysing and comparing it to other time periods, really.

Dream job? I wanna be someone's househusband and make a buncha weird art on the side. Not kidding btw. But if I had to choose a more conventional dream job... it had to be something in the creative or design industry, otherwise I'll probably die of unhappiness.

It's a bit of a random question, but I'm simply curious, how did you start falling in love with the Horned King/what's your origin story with him? Only if you want to share it of course^^ Feel free to also just generally gush or ramble about him!

(also btw I think it's awesome that we share him as an f/o now, I think subconsciously I already knew for a while that I'd fall for him eventually, it was just a matter of time he's just too gorgeous💕)

Ok this ask has given me the warm fuzzies for several weeks so thank you and I guess I should probably answer this now huh -

(also every time someone else pops up who f/o's him I'm Absolutely Delighted and am so glad I helped facilitate your decent into lich simpery)

I'll do IRL and self insert shenanigans, so IRL first:

- the first time I watched the black cauldron I'd be ...about 8 or 9?

- one thing you sincerely must understand about me is that I am, unapologetically, unequivocally, unexpectedly....a weenie.

- much as I adore the spooky and the strange, any film that veers into remotely scary territory, or horror in general, that shit scars me down to the cellular level.

- Power to everyone who can disengage/absorb that stuff healthily because I sure as fuck don't and doubt I ever will. Anyway.

- mum buys me the black cauldron and thinks nothing of it. It's Disney, right?

- anyway yeah uh suffice to say boy golly gee I'd never seen *that* many skeletons animated before. Think my little brother started crying at some point.

- but honestly, something about the films mad dichotomy of attempted cutesy fantasy with grim dark backdrop and off kilter humour enamoured me. And I found myself wanting *more* of the dark parts of the film.

- (still early the full cauldron born scenes were cut. So goddamn salty)

- the Horned King became a lynchpin of fascination, something about his eerie voice, his apathetic yet menacing mannerisms and his degraded appearance really drew me in. Esp his summoning and death scenes.

- I think I started drawing skeletons soon after and they're still the easiest thing for me to draw.

- over decade later when I was depressed as all fuck, I rewatched the film and found myself only really enjoying his scenes, in part because he was the only relatable villain to me at the time. (Eternally tired, quietly dramatic, quick to anger and dismissal. A smorgasbord of things to distract myself from feeling like I was actively decomposing too at the time. Brains are wild.)

- now I like to imagine quietly helping him get to a better place same as I've managed to do :) who needs therapy when you have imaginary lich time.

As for self insert funky times:

- rather than imagining myself in the dark ages, mostly because despite living in the UK my knowledge of that time period is just awful, I imagine a modern setting

- crucially tho the events of the film still happened exactly as shown.

- in this setting my s/I has moved to Wales and accidentally rediscovered the -broken- cauldron, and the remains of the castle. Time itself rusted the old thing and it cracked, letting HK's disheveled soul slip free.

- my S/I is an amateur ecologist, with interest in geology and paleontology and history. (So just me. Straight up me. I can't even pretend here) Once she figures out she's effectively haunted, HK's presence is akin to a field day.

- will she attempt to resurrect him properly? Eh who knows. Maybe. I'm a real fucking sucker for ghosts, esp partial possession or soul bonds.

- magic exists still in this setting, it's just mostly forgotten and thus dismissed. Of course my s/I has latent magic because of course, and I love the idea of HK teaching her as a pseudo bonding activity.

- love just watching HK be bamboozled and overwhelmed by the modern world too. Show this lich a toaster someone-

- very low stakes very chill, just two lonely fools trying to rebuild their 'lives' together. Probably the most weirdly cottage core of my selfships if I'm honest. With more dead things.

this is about me really, not GO. Please stay, I won't make a post like this again.

it took me a week to watch Good Omens season 2. I mistimed my S1 rewatch and then the week after it came out was insanely busy* so I couldn't think about it at first. I watched the first ep Thursday 3/8, then the day after my son went to his other parent's house so I could watch the rest in one go.

I think maybe that wasn't the best of ideas?

It's been 9 days now. 9 days in which I have struggled to think about anything else. 9 days in which I have signed up to Tumblr, which I've been avoiding since the site launched. Thought I was too old, ha. 9 days in which I've been away to visit family but during which I've sneaked views and rewatched the show with my son** and started to reread the book and watched Staged and cried. 9 days in which one of my friends *died*, unexpectedly but also not, and still all I can do is cling onto this frigging show. All I can do is watch the kiss gif and the chest stroke (that I legit didn't even spot) and Az grabbing Crowley's waist (that I very definitely did).

I want to know why this has grabbed so many of us so hard. I mean, partly because fucking Neil has BROKEN ALL OUR FRIGGING HEARTS, so of course we're finding comfort together. But.

My friend didn't have a person, a partner to share her life with. I always thought that wasn't fair. I know she would have liked to find someone. A piece of my grief will always be sadness that she deserved that and didn't find it.

I don't have a person either. I thought I'd found my soulmate, but after two decades of thinking our souls fit together I realised he was a bit of a shit, actually, and that I deserved better than someone who was just plain mean to me. I didn't want our kid thinking that was expected or normal.

And I think, maybe. When I see Crowley and Aziraphale gazing at each other with such longing and love and affection and want and lust, it gives me hope that even this late 40s perimenopausal AuDHD mess might actually find someone, some day, who looks at her with love like that.

I dunno. It's been the best part of a decade being single, in that time I've realised I'm autistic, realised I'm not straight, lived through a plague, entirely broken down. I'm so much more broken than I used to be. I feel like... why would anyone ever want me.

But maybe they will?

I really hope none of my IRL friends followed me when I shared one post that I made on my Facebook. Also really hope my ex never finds this. Hey ho blah blah blah blah plausible deniability

Keep in mind though, some of these are dark. I have darker headcanons but I'm not gonna use them yet.

1. Kristoph was very rebellious against his parents through the ages of 10-17 until they started threatening that they'll kill him.

2. Klavier learned to rebel and break all the rules from Kristoph. If it weren't for Kristoph, Klavier would've never built up the courage to start a music career.

3. Simon watched anime as a child but quit for years. Then, when Athena was 3 she also started watching anime and she wanted someone to watch it with her. There was no one else other than 13 year old Simon so he became an anime fan again.

4. The prosecutors' building have a group chat on every single app and even Kay and Ema are in it.

5. Kay usually sends cursed images and memes on the group chat meanwhile Ema apologises/apologizes for her.

6. Klavier is actually severely depressed.

7. Klavier takes serotonin pills [anti-depressants] and other pills to be more stable.

8. Klavier has more than once overdosed on anti-depressants and has fainted.

9. Ga'ran used to hit Rayfa and Rayfa would have bruises that are very visible and that is why they made her the cloak she wears.

10. Rayfa didn't have a childhood because of terrible "parents" so she now acts like a primary/elementary school child around her family to relive her childhood.

11. Miles, Phoenix, Maya, Trucy, Athena, Pearl, Ema, Rayfa and Kay all suffer from sever ADHD.

12. Klavier has the exact same nervous ticks and [subconscious] habits as Kristoph. When he's being "tense" the muscles on his right hand would get tense like Kristoph and a lot more [subconscious] habits and nervous ticks that he has that are just like Kristoph's.

13. Every Gramarye gets their first bracelet on their dominant hand. Apollo got the first bracelet on his left hand because it is his dominant hand, and Thalassa will give Trucy the other bracelet on Trucy's right hand because it is Trucy's right hand.

30. Every Gramarye gets really scared and afraid when they first learn about their talent but then they get used to it. This talent dates back to the era of The Holy Mother where their ancestor Gramarye started paying attention to every move that a person does whilst talking to them and she taught her kids, which then taught their kids and one of her descendants was a miner and he invented the Gramarye's heirloom bracelets.

Doing this thing because I got blorbos on my mind

A - Current OTPs/OT3s etc.

It may not come as a surprise but I am absolutely rotting on PruMano at all times and have been doing so for basically a year now. It's beginning to melt into my personality and nothing can be done about it. Whenever I'm released from the iron grip of PruMano rotting I enjoy GerIta and FrUk like the normie that I am. The BTT are definitely getting together for threesomes when they're all single and I like them as well.

B - Pairing I initially didn't consider

This might shock you after reading the first bit but. PruMano. See I'm not new to this circus, I first watched Hetalia in 2015 but focused mostly on the Nordic 5 with SuFin and DenNor. This was before PruAus 9/11 (Hima suddenly announcing they're cousins) so I think I was on the PruAus rot.

Other than that I got a friend who I dragged into this hellhole (you know who you are) who has infected me with Frain and TurFra. I have some Thoughts about TurPru but uhh. let's leave that for now.

C - Ships I never liked and never will like

All the ones where there is an unbalanced power dynamic (age gaps, having interacted when one was a child and the other way older etc, former colonies and oppressive states, having a relationship that implies being related etc). I am a seasoned hater of these and I do my best to block anyone who as much as reblogs it. I do not care if it's "just fiction" you guys are weird and not in a good way xoxo

D - Ships I just can't get myself to like

Due to the aforementioned PruMano rot I just don't feel seriously interested in any other pairings I fear. Nothing against PruCan or LietPru for example, I am just so rotted on PruMano that it doesn't make me feel anything lol

E - My crack contributions

I may just be the only person who has even considered TurPru and I have done it in the most unbearable fujoshi way possible </3

Other than that I'm helping out with spreading unrequited GerFra, Frain and TurFra which I do also enjoy on the side.

F - Longest I've been in a fandom

I wanna say this one?? Not actively so, I jumped ship to other things such as Love Live and JJBA in early 2019ish (Love Live even earlier in 2017), but even during my longer breaks from Hetalia I've always ended up rewatching it at some point or posting about it.

G - First OTP

For Hetalia it's definitely been GerIta from day one. Do I even need to say anything? To me they're canon.

H - Favorite way of consuming fandom stuff

It's mostly anime series and TV shows I'd say, I do sometimes read but am a bit too busy to properly sit down and do so.

I - Has Tumblr made me dislike fandoms

I think it would take less time to list the fandoms Tumblr HASN'T made me dislike tbh. I try to keep a tight knit circle for my own sanity and rarely interact with the fandom part of stuff apart from my own and my friend's contributions. Highly recommended btw.

J - Fandoms I didn't notice until Tumblr

To be honest I'm not really browsing Tumblr at all. I like to upload here because the image quality is way better than on Instagram. I suppose I highly associate some fandoms with this site (Undertale for example)?

Lithuania I'm sure you are way more interesting than I give you credit for and I care about you the most out of the Baltic Trio (which I honestly forget exists at times)

Z - Rambling time

Okay if you've gotten this far down I admire your attention span lol thanks. I don't really have all that much to say that is concrete and comprehensible but I am thinking of PruMano and of warm days by the Mediterranean Sea and skies later lit in vivid shades of red and orange as the hot sun sets and the cities come to life. I am also thinking about them cuddling, which I do quite a lot.

currently watching: 一念关山 a journey to love (yngs), but i'm kinda only half watching it rn bc i zone out whenever a scene does not involve li tongguang or yu shisan. unsolicited opinion and i'm in the minority here but the main cp has largely bored me since ep 12 bc i'm not a fan of how the show is writing their relationship development now even tho i liked their initial dynamic. ANYWAY i am also thinking abt rewatching some episodes of story of kunning palace since there is a canto dub out now hahaha
