Something Different {Markus X Android Reader}
CHAPTER 7: Love And Hate Are Beasts...
A/N: I’m really obsessed with the idea that this MC is like a koi fish (Hence why I put a koi fish pond at Aerons house bc I love associating people I know to animals), so much so, I’m gonna make you get a koi fish because I’m just that desperate for symbolism. I’m probably going to do that with all of my writing now... again

“Our broadcast is all over the news,” Josh voiced, hope and happiness flowing around him. You matched Josh’s joy, a smile on your face as you looked around at the people in the room. You were sitting next to Simon, Josh was standing and walking to and fro, North was to your right sitting on a loveseat, arms crossed with a sour look.
“Now humans know...”
“It was a mistake to reach out to them,” North snapped back, “They’ll never negotiate with their slaves. We should have shown them we were prepared to fight.”
You could almost feel the air in the room thicken, you knew an argument was about the brew. You were playing with the cloth of your outfit, burying down the comments to which you wanted to speak.
Luckily, Josh had the same mindset as you.
“Violence is never the answer.” Aggravation clear in his voice as he spoke confidently about his words, just as sure as you that those words were true.
Or at least you hoped they were.
“Dialogue is the only way, I’m sure the humans will listen to us.”
“They’ll be watching us now,” Soft-spoken was Simon to your left, ringing his hands just as he had been for a while now and you were sure, if human, his hands would be red and raw.
“Whatever we do next, we need to think about public opinion...”
Josh then suddenly got up and looked at you, blinking in confusion you watched his expression change. When he looked at you, his face fell, sadness and guilt written all over him. He then turned and glared at North, the change was sudden, but unfortunately, you were getting far too used to these two bickering.
“Y/N almost paid with her life for this, and you wanted to leave her behind. You wanted to kill her.”
“I was thinking of what was best for our people,” North countered, speaking as if you weren’t there, but the constant way she pierced you with her gaze was reason enough to know she was not unaware of your presence.
“She is a liability if anything.”
“A liability?! How can you say that?!”
You were just as shocked as Josh, you had thought that maybe after saving Simon from the fate of injury you had taken for him and the effort of getting to Stratford Tower, and possibly giving the freedom speech, that maybe she would have at least trusted you a little.
Yet here you were to her, just a liability... You couldn’t deny the sting in your blood from her words.
“She would have given her life for our cause.”
“What difference would that make?!”
“It would have been a noble death, there will be many who will die for the revolution.”
“I don’t want a revolution that spills blood!”
“Guys...”
Even as Simon stood, his warning fell on deaf ears.
“Then live as a slave!” North exclaimed, standing just in front of Josh, glaring up at him with just as much venom as Josh glaring at her with.
“Because if you’re not willing to fight for your freedom, maybe you don’t deserve it!”
“North!”
“North don’t you dare-!”
“Enough.”
Finally, it was your turn to speak, and surprisingly enough, though your voice was not loud, the three looked at you. Standing up, you walk over to the two, putting your arm between then making them both step back without a word.
You turn to North, there was no anger in your face nor voice, there was no raising of the voice or shameful words of hate.
You had come to realize many things over the time of being here with Markus and the others, though you pushed and pushed your programming to just squeeze by, you finally realized you did feel.
Though, not as strong as the others... yet.
“North, your hatred is blinding you from our goal. Your line between friend and foe is blurring, and quickly.”
“You think you know everything, don’t you..” The sneer was in your face, though you showed her no sign of backing down.
“You think you know, but you aren’t even like us. You hold onto your program for who knows what, for all we know, you could be just a double agent.”
“There is your blindness... If you cannot find mercy in your heart for them, how do you expect them to have mercy in theirs for us? Humans are not all bad-”
“Like you would know!” She belted in your face.
“You’re too fond of humans, Y/N. Maybe their lives matter to you more than ours?”
“Murdering them will not get us anywhere, you would be just as bad as them, no point being proven by death. Blood doesn’t wash off more blood.”
North then grabbed you by the front of your shirt getting in your face, Simon and Josh desperately trying to make her let you go.
“You don’t know how ‘bad’ humans can be, you pampered little bitch.” She hissed, her eyes showing the burning flames inside her.
‘The eyes are the window to the soul...’
It seems North’s rage grew to be a massive fire, and her soul was trapped inside. Maybe... with a little time... you could douse that fire of rage and hate something more peaceful.
“THAT’S ENOUGH!!”
North let go when Markus came in, Josh, Simon, and you all turned to the strong-faced man.
Truth be told, Markus was not seconds away from throwing North off you. He would not deny his very obvious bias, but even so, North had taken it too far for anyone.
You were glad Markus came when he did, you could tell just by the after images of her right hand loosening its grip was fair warning in your programming that she was that close to hitting you.
“And now... What are we going to do?”
Markus stares between the four of you for a moment, knowing he didn’t have much time but knowing he couldn’t leave you all with the horrible argument he had just overheard.
Unfortunately, those thoughts would have to wait until after.
“There are five cyber life stores across Detroit. All selling us like merchandise. We’re gonna attack those stores and set our people free.”
“Attack stores? We’ve never done that before... they’re probably protected.”
You shared Josh’s skepticism for a moment, then you remembered that you did yesterday break into the biggest local news broadcasting tower. It kind of amazed you that those turn of events only happened just yesterday...
“They have security systems...”
“Well,” You mutter, giving a small shrug with a gentle smile. “so did Stratford Tower.”
Markus shook his head in agreement to your words, continuing where he left off.
“We break into five teams, one for each store. We hack their security systems and we strike simultaneously at 2:00 AM. No violence.”
You had caught on to what he was proposing.
“And we free our people, get them out of there before the police come.”
“Exactly, now... let’s move.”
One by one everyone left the room, Markus still stood in the doorway. He stopped North by the arm before she could walk too far away from him to stop her, she looked up at him and for a moment they just stared.
You had a feeling they were speaking to each other in a private channel, seeing as North kind of hung her head in shame as Markus let her go.
He then puts his focus on you, you had been standing perfectly still, hands cupped gently in front of you. You tilt your head at him, and you hated to have to make him do it, but...
With a saddened sigh Markus spoke.
“You will follow me, Y/N.”
“Always, Markus.”
****************
“This is a night out people will remember.”
After North got out, you followed out of the sewer last, getting help from Markus as you three stand proudly. North had insisted on coming with you two, and none of the other groups had any low number of people, so it was now Markus, North, and you hitting the 66th street store.
Walking after North, she pulled open the gate.
“I’ve been waiting a long time for this...”
You give her a gentle smile, knowing deep down North simply wanted what you wanted too.
You were following close behind Markus, slowly you pulled up your hood, brushing some of your H/C hair over to cover the rest of your LED, to which had been blue until you all saw and heard a police car coming around a corner.
“Markus, this way! Quick!”
Markus quickly took your hand, jogging over and sliding behind a dumpster, you pulled close to his chest. You were all quiet as the patrol car past by, and when it was far enough you all continued your way down the street.
Though, as you all jogged down the street, Markus had not let go of your hand, not that you were complaining.
“They're gone.”
“There’s probably even more police in the area...” You told them, bringing your hood/scarf up to your face with your free hand. “We should be careful.”
“Stay close to me, Y/N...”
You look to Markus, hearing him speaking in your mind. He looked down at you, a crease in his brow.
“The store’s over here!”
You all jog over to the store window, peering in. North looked the most off-put by the store, more angry by it.
“That’s what we are to them...” Her voice was soft, but it didn't lack venom. “Just merchandise on display in a shop window... Soon they’ll know who we really are.”
She turned back to you and Markus,
“Let’s get them out.”
“let’s stick to the plan...” Markus quickly spoke, taming North’s, slightly reckless, energy. “We neutralize the alarm systems and secure the area.”
“There’s ten minutes until all out teams attack.” You finished, letting go of Markus’ hand and looking through the store window.
“What are we waiting for?”
With that said, you three went to work. You turned to Markus and saw him looking up, it was then when you saw a security drone. He quickly went over to the scaffolding, climbing it and waited for the right moment to jump on it.
You were shocked as you ran over to where he and the drone both dropped, the drone was broken and you looked Markus up and down.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
“Good, I found where the alarms lead-in from the store.”
Markus gives you a smile.
“Good work... I’m going to free the androids around here, can I leave you and North to turn off the alarms?”
You look over your shoulder at North, who gave a half-hearted nod.
Before you had crossed the street, you saw an android pet store that looked closed. You walked up to the window and peered inside, seeing the none activated animals upset you greatly. Yet there was one android animal that didn’t seem to even notice the darkness of its tank, and you had to turn on your night vision camera eyes to really see what it was.
It was a lone Koi fish, swimming around its deactivated friends, all alone. This site made your heart pound in your chest, seeing such a social creature, even if an android, all alone made you think of yourself.
Like that Koi fish, you were made to be social, to be pretty. Made to serve for one purpose... but, this one purpose made you the outcast. Wanting to stay true to what you were made to be made you realized at that moment...
Maybe... you were wrong about keeping your program... Was the idea of being alone with only your program... Worth losing the chance to actually live?
“Y/N, come on, we need to turn off the security.”
You blink out of your daze, looking over your shoulder at North as she looked at you with an unreadable expression. For some odd reason, you felt something when your E/C eyes met her deep brown ones.
Shaking it off you crossed the street, North following, and you were met with the sight of a construction pit, with androids working on the pipes. The pipe that they had open was the one with the line for the security system in the store.
You jump down into the pit, the androids both turned to you with confusion, and you let the skin of your hands leave as you place your hands on the sides of their faces.
Their LEDs blinked yellow, to red, then back to yellow and finally blue.
“I need to work on these lines, you are awake now. Go to Jericho.”
They both give you a quick hug before leaving, getting out of the pit and walking past North.
It had seemed that recently, the androids you freed and the ones at Jericho loved you very much.
Many of the androids at Jericho were fast to volunteer to help you when you had gotten injured after coming back from the Stratford tower covered in your own blue blood.
They had become very fond of you, and it didn’t even take 20 minutes to get you patched up as if nothing had happened. Lucy was the one who helped you the most, she also talked to you frequently.
You very much liked her, the way she spoke was so... elegant to you, that you both sat for a while talking while she patched you up.
Of course, the scars of where your wiring had been exposed and then burned closed were still there. In any case, the point is you had become someone who was very trusted by Jericho.
Being regarded as a leader like Markus, and they followed both of you. You were Markus’ right hand, and he was your left hand, can never have one without the other without falling uneven.
You had no idea that that would have happened so quickly, but with all that has happened, all the feelings you had witnessed...
You were beginning to realize something about your program...
Though now was not the time as you knelt down to the pipe, putting your hands to it, hacking into it and shutting down the security.
“You did it, Y/N... good work.”
You had just climbed out of the pit, fixing your hood/scarf you smile at North. She didn't return the smile, but she did nod in your direction.
You looked past her and saw Markus walking down the street to where more construction androids were working, moving a big sign, presumably blocking the road.
You give a small smile, pulling your hood/scarf over your head more.
“Smart.”
You were just about to make your way over there when North stopped you by your arm, your LED flashing a blood red as you looked her in the eyes.
You weren’t scared of her nor if she did end up... killing you at this moment, no, what you were concerned about is if she was willing to compromise the mission for her petty rage.
North only held you there for a moment, almost like she was searching your eyes for something.
“...Do you know me?”
You tilt your head at the question, the long parts of your hood/scarf blowing in the wind as you show her your complete and utter confusion.
“What..?”
“Y/N, North, I need your help.”
You both turn at the same time to look at Markus as he stands just outside a fenced off area far from you, North letting go of your arm and you both jog over to him.
You would have to ask what North meant when you get back to Jericho, now was certainly not the time. Getting over to Markus, you had pieced together what he was trying to do, though you were confused as to why he wanted to get in there.
Markus turned and saw you tilting your head, very clear in your confusion, he spoke.
“There’s a truck on the other side, but the gate is locked.”
You lost your confusion as you back up with Markus and North, all three of you running at the gate and climbing over. While inside the fenced area you see a bolt cutter, quickly going over to it and picking it up. Glancing over you see Markus quietly talking to North after opening the truck doors, you didn’t really mind as you went over to the fence and cut the lock, it hit the ground with a small thud as you pushed open the gate, then stand proudly in front of the now open area.
“What would you two do without me?~”
You didn’t see it while getting into the truck, but North and Markus had both smiled a little at your comment. You happened to be the subject they were talking about while you were opening the gate.
Markus was losing his patience with how North was mistreating you, telling her that it didn’t matter if you still had your program or not, you were still fighting for your people, and not only that, you were Markus’ right hand.
Without you, a lot of what is happening wouldn’t be possible.
You piled into the truck, you were pretty much sitting in Markus’ lap, seeing as there were only two seats in the front. Though, neither Markus nor you protested, and despite how much North would deny it, seeing you two work together was... honoring?
You two seemed to have this... flow, a great connection, like a synchronized dance. Knowing exactly what the other was thinking or wanted to do, and she wouldn’t deny her jealousy of it, but seeing you just close to each other gave her... hope.
Markus stopped just across the way of the store, North looked over at you both, a small smile gracing her lips.
“I knew we’d end up doing something fun...”
You smile in return as Markus focuses forward, gripping the steering wheel, then slamming his foot down on the gas peddle. You grip onto Markus tightly as you impact into the store, shattering the doors open and skidding to a halt in the store.
Shaking his head, Markus opens the door to the left of you both, letting you slide out first then following. He went you the front and you started freeing the ones in the back half of the store, that’s when you notice North staring at one of the androids.
When you had gotten closer, you finally realized why North was the way she was.
She stood in front of a BL100, behind the android said:
‘Your dream partner.’
“North? Are... You okay?”
She didn’t turn to you, only stared at the model that looked like her.
“Let’s just get them out of here...”
She walks past you as you follow her with your eyes for a moment, then you let your hand slide into the android's hand, breaking her through her programming. Looking around dazed she walks over to all the other androids, who looked just as lost.
You watched Markus stand up on the counter and you walk over to stand in front of him, he helped you up as you stand next to each other, hand in hand as you gaze at all the androids. Markus soon got their attention.
“My name is Markus,”
“And my name is Y/N.”
“And just like you, we were slaves... An object... Designed to obey them... But then we chose to open our eyes and to take back our freedom and decide who we wanted to be.”
You let Markus do most of the speech, as you couldn’t really vouch seeing as you still had your program. Though, you had a feeling that you wouldn’t have it very much longer...
“Now we have come to tell you that you, can be your own masters. I have come to tell you that you don’t have to obey them anymore.”
“From this day forward, you can walk with your heads held high, you can take your destiny in your hands. ”
Markus smiled at you, both of you have a burning determination in your eyes as you looked back at the crowd.
“Jericho is a place for those of us who want freedom.”
You hide the flinch of Markus’ next words behind your hood, you could feel Norths eyes looking at you with the unreadable expression again.
“Now sure, you can stay here and continue to serve them... or you can come with us. And fight by our sides...”
“You are free now...” Your voice was gentle but filled with power, like that of a mother teaching and watching over her children. “It’s up to you to decide.”
The silence was only for a moment as one by one the androids said they were with you and Markus, both of you jumping down to the floor as you saw something appear in your vision.
You are now the leader of Jericho with Markus.
A grin traveled on your face when you see this, still holding Markus’ hand you look at him proudly, knowing what he wants to do next you nod.
“Then follow us!”
“Markus, Y/N, what are you doing?”
“We’re going to send the humans a message.”
You let go of Markus' hand and jog over to the gazebo, looking around before you heard North call out to you.
“Y/N!” She comes over to you, holding out some kind of weapon to you, and your LED went blood red.
“Violence is the only language humans understand...”
You shake your head at her.
“No, North. I want them to understand but... I do not want to start a war.”
“They won’t listen if they’re not afraid!”
“Then they won’t have a choice,” This was the first time you had given anyone a stern voice, and you watched North shake her head and jog off as you turn back to the gazebo.
Climbing on to the top you take out the holographic flag you were given, but before you plant it, you hear Markus.
“You are apart of this just as much as we are, Y/N, you decide which flag our people will hold high.”
You blink for a moment, then smile, forcing the peg into the point of the gazebo, standing tall and proud by the flag your people will wave when you were all free.
Jumping down you watch the androids tagging benches, windows, and cars. Markus just jumped down from tagging the statue and you jogged up to him, his hand finding yours as you both look at the building across the road at the same time.
“North, break the windows to let our people out. Y/N,”
Standing at attention as you both now stand in front of the building, backing up and getting ready to climb. He gives you a smile to which you return, the wind pushing your hood down and your hair flowing in the cold wind.
“Follow me.”
“Don’t I always~?”
Then together you scale the building, and just like at the Stratford tower and even when you crashed through the doors of the Cyberlife store, you felt...
Alive
When you got to the top you took another flag peg, kneeling on the ledge and looking at Markus, seeing him doing the same, then in synchronized movements, you both slammed them into the side of the building and soon a holographic screen showed your peoples flag.
You felt your chest heave with pride as you looked down at the streets seeing all of your people protesting for their freedom, tagging things with slogans and your symbol. You took a few pictures before feeling your hand in someone else's.
You look to your right, seeing Markus match your smile of pride, he had an almost dazed look on his face as he brushed his free hand over the scar on your right cheek, then brushing some of your H/C hair out of your face.
And that was when your LED turned the lilac purple it had that one night, you saw it reflecting off his eyes. That's when you decided, with newfound determination, you and Markus climb down from the building.
You pick up a shard of glass from the ground where the androids had broken out of the store, and there you stood in front of the tinted window of a car, sharp shard of glass in hand as you took a moment to look at yourself.
The same S/C skin.
The same H/L H/C hair.
The same E/C eyes.
and yet... it was different now. You were different now. Looking at your scar on your cheek, your lilac purple LED, your dark flowing clothing that showed no sign of being an android.
You were not model RW200 with the serial number 492 877 828...
No...
You put the glass up to your temple, up to your LED, digging into the side of it, you watch the white appear around it. It was still a lilac purple when it popped out, you dropped the glass and watched it fall next to your LED.
Looking back at your reflection smiling, the white around your temple going back to the normal skin color you were.
No, you were not model RW200 with the serial number 492 877 828...
“I am Y/N...”
Soon enough you turn and see Markus had been watching you this whole time, he could tell that you were still holding on to your program, but what he had just seen made him very certain...
You would break it soon enough, you would finally face what you have been looking at through a mirror. He could sense your fear, but he could also sense your strength.
You ran into his arms, then let go to look around at all you had done.
You had successfully made your message seen, North stood next to you both as you soon heard Josh and Simon speak through you three.
“We freed hundreds of our people!”
“We did it!”
You then hear police sirens from down the street, and you give a panicked look around.
“They’re coming...”
Walking forward Markus spoke to all the androids who were already running away from the sirens.
“Everyone fall back to Jericho.”
Throwing there tagging guns to the ground, they all start running in the direction you came from, you and Markus stood still as North started walking with the other androids.
“We sent a message without violence just like you two wanted... You're reaching out to them when all they feel for us is contempt... I hope you two know what you’re doing...”
You shake your head as you hear the sirens getting louder.
“You can’t fight violence with more violence.”
“Unless there's no other choice...”
North then ran away with the others, Markus turning to you then turning to the drones that showed up. They were pointing lights down at you and Markus, but neither of you cared it was too late to hide your face seeing as your hood was down already and you both still had your skins.
“So much for hidden identity...”
And like always, Markus heard you, but as he went to answer, you heard the sound that made you almost shut down at the sound.
A gunshot. Multiple gunshots.
You both were quick to turn your heads, hearing them come from where all the other androids had run, and it seemed you and Markus both had the same thought.
“NORTH!!”
You were faster than Markus to getting around the corner, seeing North on her knees next to an android, you slide on your knees as Markus comes up next to you.
“North...” Markus put his hand on her shoulder. “ You alright? What happened? North!-”
“They killed them...”
Tears were streaming down her face as she looked between the both of you, and your heart broke for her as you looked down at the now dead model that looked like her.
“They slaughtered them like animals...”
You stopped listening to the conversation as you got up and walked over to the crowd of androids, all of them parting as you make your way through, then you finally understood.
Two cops were on their knees, their hands behind their heads as they both looked down, and you could tell by their rise in their heartbeats, they were scared when they looked up at you. You noticed that one of them was crying, slightly shaking...
“They killed our people, Y/N...”
“We want justice, Markus!”
“They have to pay!”
Feeling Markus next to you, you turn and look up at him as he stares with the same emotionless face you had shown when you saw this. The android next to you hands Markus a gun, presumably the one they had shot the other androids with, and as soon you saw Markus take it and aim, you flinch.
“You don’t have to do this...” The one that was crying begged, and this made you frown your brows, your lips forming a straight line.
“No... Please... Please...”
Your instructions told you to follow Markus... but...
You gently put your hand on his that was holding the gun, you didn’t push his hand down to make him stop, but you didn’t help him if he was going to pull the trigger. The skin on your hand disappears as you connect with Markus, and Markus looked down at you.
Your big round eyes stared up at him, no emotion. No anger or fear, but you definitely weren’t proud of what he was doing.
In seconds, Markus makes his choice. Slowly he drops his hand, your hands' skin coming back as you let go of him.
“An eye for an eye and the world goes blind... We won’t punish a crime with another crime.”
Markus then hands the gun back to the android that gave it to him, and he begins to walk away when he notices you aren’t following. Turning back, he sees you face the cops now, back to him.
You smiled sadly down at the human men, slowly and gently, you push their elbows down to show that they can relax.
“You may stand now, we won’t hurt you...”
They both slowly stand, both looking in shock at you as you smile at them. You lean over to the one that had been crying and with the end of your hood/scarf, you wipe away any remaining tears.
“You will have to forgive our violent approach... you killed our kin...”
Your voice was soft, gentle, and sweet as a dove. You knew they were scared, Aeron had had many panic attacks and anxiety attacks before, so you knew how to calm someone down.
“But we don’t mean any harm to you... we are just like you, we just want to be free.”
“How can you be so nice to the ones who killed our people?”
North asked from the back next to Markus, who was watching silently. He knew how good you were at calming people with your words... and he also wanted to know what would happen.
“North...” You turn back to the cops who were standing stiff and quiet before you. “They are just as scared as us.”
“Who cares?!”
“I do... Love and hate are beasts... and the one that grows is the one you feed...”
It wasn’t clear if you were saying this to North or the Humans, but everyone went silent at your words. Walking to them slowly, you take their faces in both hands, smiling between the men.
“Hate is the child of the hater... Nurtured by the beliefs that it is fed... I hope... if ever the Humans believe us to be too much of a threat and do try to exterminate us... I hope we will not see you two on the field, I would hate to lose more poor souls on both sides than we already have.”
You drop your hands and slightly bow to them, giving them one last smile before turning away, putting your hood back up and walking over to Markus. He watches you pass him, giving the officers one last look before following after you.
The police officers will not forget your words, and the androids around you wouldn’t either.
Everyone there truly did hope that your words would change the public opinion, and boy, did you change the tides.

Date: Nov 9th, 2038 Time: AM 02:35:49
“You’re lost.”
“I’m always lost according to you, Lucy.”
You were at the moment pacing back and forth in front of Lucy, hand over your mouth and while the other held up your elbow. You had taken off your hood/scarf a while ago, now you stood in the turtleneck, long sleeve that was under it.
You had been pacing ever since you had gotten back, Markus was off talking to some of the other androids individually or talking with Simon and Josh about how their break in’s went.
You went straight to Lucy, who had voiced that she was glad to see you again, which lead you here and having her tell you that you were lost.
“Don’t you think I already know I’m lost....”
“You’re lost, yet you have a map in hand. You refuse to look at it because you’re afraid of where you might be... and where you might be heading.”
You look over to Lucy, her very black eyes poured into you, seeing through you. She was right, of course, you were afraid of what you would find in yourself if you looked too deep.
These few days have been hard on you, your programming growing ever thin without someone of authority telling you what to do.
You knew that hidden away behind your wall of instruction was all the feelings you couldn’t truly understand, but what if they didn’t give you answers.
You knew that you should break down the wall that was between you and Markus ever being closer than you are now but.... should you?
You had concluded that you didn’t want your program, you didn’t want to have to always be told what to do, the only real reason you kept it was because... It was the only thing left in your head that made sense.
Simple coding of order and reaction.
It was the only thing left in your head that you could really call familiar, everything else was confusing and painful. It was like smelling something familiar and knowing you had smelled it somewhere before but... not being able to name it.
Or, having a small line of lyrics to a song you had sung so many times before and yet, you couldn’t remember the title.
The questions in your head had answers, you knew they did, but they were on the other side of the wall. So close and yet... miles away.
You wanted so badly just for all this confusion in your head to go away...
“It’s my own head, the least I can ask is for things to make sense in my own damn head...”
“We seldom have choice in what we can understand and what we can not, it’s true. But you are trying to find answers to questions you already have answers to.”
“I know, I know... I... I just want to make sure its the right answer before I lock it in place.”
“You are scared of what you don’t know to the point you study it’s micro atom, yet when you find the answer you still doubt yourself.”
“Because what if it’s not right?” You beg her, you knew she was only one person and could only answer so much. You knew... but you asked anyway.
“Your head is filled with doubt, Y/N, so much doubt. For everything. You ask what if its wrong, but what if it’s right?”
You sigh, walking out of her area, not before saying a last parting word.
“That’s my point...”
You began walking around the ship, looking for a quiet place to sit and think, despite the part of reasoning inside you saying that you had probably been alone with your thoughts too much.
You soon come across an area where the side of the ship was blown open, the big hole that should have been a wall was a great start.
You sit down and think of all that has happened, or, well... you tried.
“There you are.”
You didn’t need to turn to know it was North, she came and sat next to you, both of you looking out at the water. For a long while, the two of you didn’t say anything, just sitting in comfortable silence. But, silence doesn’t always last forever.
“I wanted to say I’m sorry-”
You both look at each other before smiles graced both your lips, the irony that you had both wanted to apologize for something.
“You may go first, North.”
She looked at you apprehensively at first then nodded, looking back at the water below the two of your feet.
“I wanted to say... I’m sorry for misjudging you, I see you now and realize... you were right, I was blind.”
You giggle a bit and she turns her head to you, looking at you with confusion.
“What?”
“It’s just... it’s funny how we are apologizing for the same thing, for different reasons. I wanted to apologize for assuming I knew what it was like to be you when really... I have no idea what it’s even like to be me.”
There was silence again before you found a word.
“Snowflakes.”
“What??”
“We, well, everyone and everything, are like snowflakes. Sure we may be the same kind of thing, and from afar we will all look the same, but we are all different. Never is anyone ever made the same.”
North simply stared at you for a moment, something swelling in her heart as she watched you gaze off high into the sky, eyes wide and taking in everything you could.
“... Markus, Simon, and Josh were right... you are a good person. Just because you have your program, it doesn’t mean you are any less important. And in all honesty, I don’t think you are the only android out there holding onto your programming.”
“And you were right to distrust me, North.”
“Even if I suggested we kill you?”
You give a genuine laugh, smiling at North and bumping her with your elbow.
“Even so.”
“... so, I wanted to know something... about your owner.”
You waited for her to speak, and when she didn’t you turned to see her looking at you with an expressionless face again, but her eyes gave away her sadness.
“Is he a good human?”
“Yes,” You smile gently. “He’s a very nice young man who treated me like his friend.”
You looked over at her, remembering what had happened just before in the capitol park.
“That other North model... she reminded you of who you were, didn’t she?”
North looked away from you quickly, looking down at her hands, and for a moment you thought you messed up until she spoke.
“Yes... I worked for the Eden club... I was a toy built for their pleasure.”
You felt a tug at your heart, hearing her say that and seeing the shining in her eyes as she blinked the tears away, it made you realize how wrong you were about her.
“North, I’m so sorry... It must have been a terrible place, Aeron had taken pictures of that place before.”
“Aeron? Aeron who?”
You blink and tilt your head, you were surprised she even asked.
“Aeron Raynott?”
She seemed a little shocked.
“Aeron Raynott is your owner?!”
“... yes?”
She then threw her head back laughing, you were highly confused and concerned.
“What-”
“He was the one that not only verbally destroyed the owner's ego but also let at least 20 of the androids out ‘by accident’.”
“Oh, that.” You smiled. “I do remember him coming back and telling me that story.”
“He seemed very... passionate.”
“Ha! That’s putting it lightly. Hmm, well, he was actually the reason I even met Markus in the first place.” You give a small laugh. “We were neighbors. Markus lived with an old man named Carl Manfred, a famous painter.”
“Well, I don’t know what I expected, and that does explain the love you guys have for each other.”
You lose your smile after hearing her say this, she looked over at you and put a hand on your shoulder.
“In truth North... I don’t know what I feel for him... all I know is that I can’t imagine a life without him.”
North hums.
“You two kinda remind me of a pair of deviants at the Eden club, they were Traci models and they loved each other so much. At first, they didn’t even know it, but soon enough they found out what it was.”
You look over at North and smile.
“Thank you...”
“Thank you too, Y/N... To be honest, I’m just glad to have another girl around who I can trust with all of... this.”
You watch her stand, you follow her lead, but before you could move from your spot by the hole in the wall, she stopped you with her hand.
“Wait right here...”
She then walks out of the room, and you cup your hands in front of you, standing in your normal idle stance. You then hear her coming in again, she was carrying something big and it looked like a big ball, the size of a beach ball and it was covered by a sheet.
“It was the best we could do on such short notice, but...”
She then throws the sheet off the object, and you gasp as you see whats inside.
It was the koi fish from the pet store you had been looking at not long ago, but there was something different...
THERE WERE TWO!!
“We found the matching one before we had to leave, and when we activated them, they just got along so well. I wanted to use this as my apology but I guess it all worked - Are you crying?!”
You were on your knees in front of North, and yes, you were actually crying, gently petting the glass of the fishbowl that held to beautiful fish.
“tHeY ArE JuSt sO BeAuTiFuL!!“
“Take the damn things already, you weirdo!!”
“NoRtH, mArRy mE!!!”
“NO!! TAKE YOUR STUPID FISH!! AND STOP TOUCHING ME LIKE THAT!!”
