My favorite scene in the show so far! I’m sure it will change in a week lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His expression of confusion while he processed what she’d just said cracks me up every single time (I have watched this scene and INSANE amount of times btw)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DUH! What a question, my dear! Of course there are many ways but honestly holding hands would’ve been just enough, me thinks yet he chose to breathe in her face lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You see that face? You see it?! He enjoyed this way too much hahahaha Life sentence, your honor!! For stealing the hearts of the audience and almost taking the life of our poor YoungWoo in the process! I don’t think she realized what she was setting herself up to when she asked such a simple yet strange question. She was an innocent victim!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ASDFGHJKLDSPKLDLLDJG!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cannot even name how I felt when I watched this exact shot. He’s illegal. He must be.
BUT one question remains! What the hell happened afterwards??? WHAT? HAPPENED? I honestly don’t think they kissed and I’m beginning to think nothing happened and she just bolted because the tension+the feels+it probably was getting hard to breathe. I would’ve ran out too, tbh. But I still wanna know and see it, if possible hahaha if she ran it’s gonna be fun to watch how Junho looked afterwards. His confussion is hilarious!
Park Eun Bin was stellar as always, but I loved how fearless she made YoungWoo here, in her voice, so steady and clear. To have someone you may have feelings for in front of you and ask them if you can touch them is just... woah, she’s so brave hahaha and that eye contact when she had Junho inches from her?? Such a vulnerable moment, and I think that’s what made it so romantic. And Junho’s words, of course.
Now, onto the guilty party.The criminal! Lee Junho, the charges he’s facing are endless!! I don’t think it’s easy to say such words and make them sound so sweet yet sexy without turning the moment into something creepy. Or very cheesy. It’s a delicate balance. But Kang Tae Oh did it and wow I can say that maybe there are a handful of actors around his age who could’ve played this character but dramaland chose him to be our Junho and I can’t picture anyone else in the role, cause he has really brought him to life.
He has made the character completely his. Every mannerism, every glance, every good action, every word, all the longing and pining!! Kang Tae Oh didn’t have to go that hard (and I honestly didn’t think he was capable of this, and his micro-expressions and the way we can literally see what he feels and thinks? *chef’s kiss*) but I applaud him with an standing ovation.
I’m so happy that both actors are finally getting the attention and recognition they deserve after such long careers (especially PEB) and I hope this is only the beginning, for their characters and them.

“Oh, my sweet girl.” As soon as Steve’s set foot through the doorway to the living room, a strong expression of concern has washed over his face. Setting down his work bag on his way over to you, he crouches down beside the sofa, his hand pressing against your burning forehead gently as his soft, comforting words flood your ears. “This bad, huh?” he asks with a frown, brushing stray strands of your hair back as your glossy eyes rise to meet his.
“Dada,” you mumble weakly, reaching both arms out to try to pull him in for a hug. “S'really bad, Dada,” you whimper. “'Hundred and two.”
“I’m here, sweetheart. I’m sorry I couldn’t get here sooner; as soon as I saw your text I started wrapping up the briefing.” A whine rises in your throat as the strong man lifts you up to settle down with you on his lap. “You alright, bug?” he asks, thumbing at your cheek as he gazes down at you with worry.
“Dizzy,” you mumble, “we take a bath? Bubbles and duckies and- and you- a-and me?”
Smiling at your request, Steve nods as he grabs the remote from the coffee table and switches off the TV, Piglet and Pooh’s cheery dialogue cutting out as your Daddy’s even sweeter voice fills the air. “Of course we can, honey. That’s a good idea, might even get your fever to break.”
Standing with you in his arms, Steve carries you to the bathroom, his heart breaking a little when he has to set you down on the cold marble counter, causing an anxious whimper to escape your lips. “S'alright, sweet girl. Just gotta get the water started. You wanna pick out some toys from your bin?”
“You go in with me too?” you plead softly.
Leaning down to give your forehead a tender kiss, Steve nods with another smile. “Of course I will, babybug. Don’t you worry; Daddy’s not goin’ anywhere.”

I just finished up watching Glitch, and omg was it satisfying. I was thinking, “You know I think this is the first kdrama I’ve watched featuring aliens… there had to have been another, I’ve watched so many…. Oh wait no there was Duty After School… but that show doesn’t count.” For those who haven’t seen my thoughts on Duty After School, you can read it here. I actively try not to remember that show bc it def traumatized me, and not in a good way.
Long story short, the plot of Glitch without too many spoilers is: the main gal can see aliens (however she does her best to ignore them) and believes her ex-boyfriend has gotten abducted/kidnapped by aliens. On her journey to find answers, she runs into a group of believers who become trusted allies. Seeking even more answers, they discover a cult whose religion seems to be about aliens. Chaos ensues. Playing the female lead as Ji-Hyo is Jeon Yeo Bin, who also played the amazing Cha-Young in Vincenzo, and Lee Eun Jung in Be Melodramatic/Melo Is My Nature. Both were other fantastic shows that I suggest you watch if you haven’t.
Vincenzo of course is about a character who was adopted in Korea by a mob boss from Italy (who takes him there to raise him abroad). Vincenzo has to find the treasure that was left to him in a building in Korea, and he ends up having to deal with a ragtag group of tenants that live in said building. He also has to deal with an unexpected foe while in Korea while looking for said treasure. Chaos, hilarity, and heartbreak ensues. Be Melo Dramatic is about three female friends in their thirties trying to get their lives together. You will cry with this one. But it was so great having three female characters that I loved, who loved one another and weren’t at odds over the male lead.
Anyway if you want a funny scifi show, definitely go watch Glitch on Netflix! Multiple scenes throughout the season had me in stitches and that credit scene left me wanting more (like the one in Hotel Del Luna. Iykyk).

Drama rec masterlist | Drama rant thread (beware of spoilers)
Tumblr media
I do not really know how to start this review, so I think I’ll start with a quote from this article called Extraordinary Attorney Woo is autistic representation at its best and its worst  (I found this article a very interesting read as it goes over both the positive and negative aspects of creating a drama like this - for example, while some people feel really represented by this media, this drama is now also used in South Korea by children to bully others who are “different”).
“It’s unrealistic to expect one character — or even one series — to fully represent the full scope of a disability. And even shows that are aiming to do good can fall short.”
It’s also important to note that I am not on the autism spectrum, and therefore can not and will not speak on the behalf of neurodivergent people (or whatever else they might identify as). I will do my best to go at this like I would any other drama, though I do want to start with stating that I - for once - did some research before going into this drama.
I heard a lot about the show, but did not want to watch it, if the people it is supposed to represent does not feel like it was doing its job properly.
From YouTube, I found the creators Stephanie Bethany, who did a video on their thoughts about the drama (here), and Tsuki Iwamoto, who has made an entire series reacting to the drama (here) - both creators are autistic, and I loved seeing the drama through their eyes. So if you liked the drama (and even if you haven’t watched it yet) I highly recommend watching their videos on this.
While in general, it seems the drama has been positively received, there are of course also people out there, who might not feel represented, and I would love to hear your thoughts as well!
Now for my thoughts on this drama; it’s overall super cute and easy-going, while at the same time handling some very sensitive topics - of course mostly related to the obstacles Young-woo faces because of her autism. While the over-all plot is focused on her, it does also go through the typical kdrama tropes you will see in other dramas, so often Young-woo is “just” another lawyer on a case, and she works like everyone else - just in her own way.
I also really like the one-case-per-episode format that is keeps throughout, as we get to see the team handle all sort of different moral end ethic dilemmas as they try to do their best in a new job. And the romance is adorable in all the best ways!
I’m always a sucker for teams coming together, learning and growing together almost like a family, and this does all that and more. It leaves me wanting to know more about them; how they end up and are they happy after the show ends?
Overall, just a fantastic legal kdrama that I highly recommend watching!
There are rumors of a season two already, and while I will probably watch that, I will not review it here.

fave dylb scenes bc I can't get over and I’m already rewatching and noticing little things heheee
- first meeting outside the restaurant. ohh how I love how awkward yet endearing they both were when they finally introduced themselves to one another. rewatching it made me realize that JY was already smitten by SA since the start. (like literally since the start y'all!!! he didn't even know her yet and wanted to stop the car to get SA an umbrella and this was in the first ep!!)
- when JY switched coffee cups with SA bc she spilt her cup and he started drinking it so she can’t refuse even though he doesn’t like coffee. Like he just did it bc he was compelled to do so?? like dude what if she already drank from it??? This scene was so funny to me and I love it cuz I dont think SA is used to being the one taken care of like that so it was just v cute
- when the noona was trying to get them to talk banmal but SA was like oh noooo he’s a superstar. This was cute bc you can actually see that JY was disappointed. Also they keep sneaking peeks at each other lol cute fools
- waiting for taxi scene- this was so freaking adorable. shows how considerate they both are for each other and it’s so freaking awkward when they both realized they were standing there waiting for each other to get a taxi- but like in the cutest way
- when they were both outside that restaurant and SA asked if JY enjoyed his performance at granny’s house and I think this was the first time someone asked our boy if he likes what he does for a living and you can just tell his heart went soft for her(same dude same)
- spontaneous non-date date. ohh I love the first time they ate together at that beer place. they really started to get to know each other there. the mood and how that scene was filmed was just chef’s kiss~~
- rehearsal room we should be friends scene. when homeboy transitioned from moonlight sonata to happy birthday, y'all knew it was over for SA- god damn I would have swoon over too
- by the river “I wanted to see you” scene- high key JY sucks at communicating but I love how he is just so taken by SA that he just flat out says he misses her and as soon as he says it he was almost shocked himself. so pure
- the midnight call. I MEAN. guys. guys. he wanted to just talk to her and ask her out but tried to be nonchalant about it. ahhh they literally portrayed the first stages of dating so well I'm goo for it !!!!!!
- first walk together in the walkway. this was just so adorable. the almost hand holding. the chemistry!! the shy smiles :’’’)
- SA’s birthday when she thanked JY for just being there for her. I love how she quietly acknowledges him and it was such an intimate interaction between them. I replay that scene a lot in my head
- when he ran to SA to give her his signed CD. He was so worried about her he forgot about JK lmaooo. Also the fact the he validated her as a violinist when SA was at a very low point... I mean... boyfriend material ugh
- the scene when SA told JY every little thing he does concerns her and that she didn’t want to feel that way about him anymore. As soon as SA said that homeboy PANICKED!!! I don’t even think he knew how much he liked SA until she said that :’)
- the lunchroom scenes 1) when they were teasing each other and 2) when JY announced that they were dating lolol I love how stoic he normally is but for SA he becomes a softie hehe
-ice cream day date; lol when SA won’t let JY tie her shoelaces bc she didn’t want to fall for him lol ok girl
-night ice cream/ stairs date. y'all know already. shit was just adorable. SA going for the kiss. I melted with the ice cream
- when JY asked SA for her handkerchief!!! it’s such a small gesture but they both knew it had a special meaning and I love how it put SA over the moon. (Also let’s include all the other times we see JY actually use that handkerchief- especially after they broke up. like homeboy was holding on to it for his dear life bc it was the only thing he had of SA~~ my fragile heart!!) ps did we ever see SA get a handkerchief from him???? No??? Sbs give me that pls
- when MS was telling JY in the car that SA has only openly confessed liking two things in her life and one them was JY. He was so flustered and couldn’t hide his smile and dimples... bruhhhhh he was full on swoon. Also when JY heard SA say that she really likes JY like he was so proud of himself lmao he’s like “yeah my gf LIKES ME” lolol
- when the lovebirds fought who was gonna clean up the broken glass at JY apartment. I love loveee this one bc SA has been beaten down so much by everyone calling her talentless that she didn’t even consider how important her hands is to her as a musician. And JY being like honey ur a violist and a musician too- UR HANDS ARE PRECIOUS. This was just v touching. Again showing how JY has always considered SA as an equal despite all the shit people say about his gf. luv him :’)
-all the moments JY just stood by SA’s side and held her hand when she needed comfort. I love how he’s just there for her. His silent support was just enough. (One thing that would have been nice is if we saw SA do the same thing, I felt like the writers were almost there but just didn't go all the way which is a shame tbh)
- Their lil day trip to JY’s hometown. I like how JY was so open to SA here. When he proclaimed that he never felt “this way before”  I screamed!! It was at that moment you clearly knew as a viewer that JY never really loved JK. He might have he loved the idea of her, yes. But he never truly loved her the way he loves SA. And his realization of this in that particular episode just made me so so so happy
- Handholding in the bus scene. That shit was so freaking tender bc you can tell how content JY was. He was beyond smitten- homeboy was IN LOVE AT THIS POINT
- when JY dropped SA home. I mean everything about this scene really makes ur heart soft right?? How both of them were beaming? How SA feet probably hurt bc homegirl was wearing heels the whole day and walked another 30 min just so she can spend more time with JY? How she literally ran back to him and JY just had this impression watching her like “my gf is cute af”?? How SA said something along the lines of JY having somewhere to belong to now and you can tell this had a double meaning for him bc at this point he prob considered SA as his home..I was literally mush oh my god.
-break up scene. I know, v painful- but this was a rare one in kdramaland where I actually thought it was necessary for them to split (still wish it was done earlier but alas I'll take it) It was a graceful and needed breakup. Also when JY pulled out that umbrella for her.... bish it was over for me
- SA’s recital. I MEAN HOW IN SYNC COULD THEY BE. I normally skip the musical performances whenever I watch dramas that are music related- but this show makes it so magical I simply could not. PEAAAKKK ROMANCE
- JY’s recital- when he played that last song I was a big mess cuz we all knew it was dedicated for SA :’’) (I listen to this piece all the time now and im so emo when I hear it bc like god WHEN)
- First I love you scene. JY just going for it and chasing his happiness without caring if SA might reject him. We love to see it
-Second I love you scene. YALL. YALLLLL the way JY just releases his breathe when SA said she can't be friends bc she loves him more than a friend will forever slay me. Kim min jae’s acting here was real good. I love how JY said I love you four times and just went for it. top kissing scene in a krdrama for me hehee
- dubokki date. lmao at JY with the spicy level. just plain cute
-the quick side by side peek to JY new album in the last episode. the way it showed how their relationship evolved. how he signed it as “for my love song ah” BISH I WANNA DATE A MUSICIAN TOO NOW
- that lil scene where JY wrote SA’s name as the planner bc he knows she works just as hard as the musicians and deserves the recognition. get u a boy who will vandalize a program notice for u :)
- basically all the scenes at the end of ep 16. I wish all of them were longer. I wanted to see more of them dating and happy!!! But I just love how they are both so INTO each other and you can see how happy JY is bc he finally has that person back that understood him since the beginning and it makes you feel so warm knowing they’re each other’s support system ahhhh I love their love !!
- also just all the scenes that JY looks at SA lovingly ~~ which literally happened since ep 1 I mean they are literally heart eyes emoji for each other every time :’))
- oh oh OH special shout out to ep 11 when JY just can’t stop holding SA’s hands !! the way he does it is so freaking INTIMATE like if I can only describe how I feel whenever I see compilation gifs of that episode where JY just reaches out and holds SA’s hands so steadily and tightly...it’s literally the most heartwarming thing.. idek how to explain what I’m trying to convey but I just vibe with it so much?? it’s so intimate and romantic.. Kim min jae I will die 4 u my love

PENTHOUSE: THE WAR OF LIFE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lee Ji Ah as Shim Suryeon Kim So Yeon as Cheon Seo Jin Eugene as Oh Yoon hee Kim Young Dae as Joo Seokhoon Kim Hyun Soo as Bae Rona Han Ji Hyun as Joo Seok Kyung Um Ki Joon as Joo Dan Tae Jin Ji Hee as Yoo Jenny Eun Kyung Shin as Kang Mari Yoon Jong hoon as Ha Yoon Chul Choi Ye Bin as Ha Eun Byeol
Season 1 - By far, still the best season. I started to listen to some classical musics just because of this. The plot was written beautifully and I really love how they wrote SuryeonxYoonhee mess. Tho the ending seems like it was stretched out.
Season 2 - Good but not as good as the season 1. There are few moments that I love. Especially the Seojin VS. Oh Yoonhee and Bae Rona winning the Cheongah music fest. And, Seojin moments with Eunbyeol in this season!!!! I think they should've ended the show in this season. The story should have start and ends with Seol Ah. And of course, the Cheongah music fest.
Season 3 - What a mess. Tho some of the kids have character development, the parents does not change a bit. I hate how they changed Seojin's character development. They should also put all the hate to Dantae. The plot become messy when Logan survived. Suryeon doesn't seem to be 10 steps ahead like in s1. AND THEY KILLED YOONHEE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON. Rona is the only reason why I keep on watching this mess.
I feel like this shouldn't be the ending. It looks like they adjusted the plot because of some shits they did. The show have so much potential at first but it went downhill and it saddens me because I was rooting for this drama since the very start.
6/10 (mainly because of season 3)

Acting with Kim Seon Ho
I might come up with a full fic of the drama.
You started out as a idol trainee but never debuted but became an actress instead. Although you are not very young, korean age 29 and Seon Ho is 35. You didn’t star in many dramas and was not as popular as names like suzy and park shin hye. In this sense, you are alot like Kim Seon Ho before he hit it big with Start Up.
You did not grow up in korea and speak better in english than korean. You’re friends with the korean-american celeb community like BM, Jessi, Eric. Your best friend is Blackpink’s Rose because you guys met during trainee days as a music school and later reconnected at a private Tiffany&Co event.
You are under Starship ent which is a fairly big company with actors like Lee dongwook so your skills isn’t too far off and in general you land in scripts and channels that are not too bad.
You got an offer from the writer who wrote Crash Landing On You and upon reading script and much discussion with the company, you decided to take this up.
You learn that the production team is trying their best to get Kim Seon Ho to be the male lead and you felt honoured and at the same time pressured. You really wished to have him as your partner in this drama because you knew that he was talented, but you also wanted to keep your hopes low because you knew that he was booked left right centre and he has many scripts and projects flooding in.
The storyline of the drama was also one reason why you kept your hopes low.
The drama centers around the female (which is your role) whose husband requested for a divorce as he fell in love with a co-worker who is a headstrong career woman. The female lead tries to salvage her marriage by entering into the company that her husband and his mistress works in and struggles her way into the workforce after being a housewife for 10 years.
The truth is, you were deliberating very hard as to whether this role was suitable for you as it is quite a leap from the usual roles and it might change the image that you have in the public eyes. For the male lead, this change is an even bigger risk and now that Seon ho is getting more popular, you were pretty sure there’s 60% chance he would reject the offer so as to keep his image.
But the script was interesting as it portrayed third party and affairs in a different light and the characters were complex so this would take your acting skills to a new level. With that, you decided to take on the challenge despite the risk that you might not be offered dramas in future that were of younger romantic comedy genre since you will be remembered as an actress that played mum and divorcee.
To your surprise, Seon ho took on the role as well. And the reason you heard of is that he felt that the script is compelling and he wanted to challenge himself in a new role.
The other female actress who will play the role of the third party is Son Na eun of Apink and you thought that she was a good fit for the role too.
The day of drama reading, Seon ho was the last to arrive and he was so apologetic about it. He was polite and greeted everybody with his big dimple smile. It was his first time meeting you and Naeun so the 3 of you were quite awkward and unfamiliar.
When filming officially started, you were so busy preparing and translating your lines and practicing them that you felt very pressured. As the drama was produced by the team behind the hit success Crash Landing and also featuring the current hot actor Kim seon ho, it was also highly anticipated and everyone was looking forward to the drama to air.
The filming process was also tiring as the tone of the drama is quite serious and sad compared to a light-hearted love drama or comedy. But to your surprise the filming was quite enjoyable mainly because seon ho is very easy to work with and also very professional.
Even though he must have been very tired as the shoot is often in between his other projects like 2 Days 1 Night and his other pictorials and advertisement shoots, he rarely screws up his part and came prepared with his lines so there won’t many retakes. He is also very bubbly and cheerful, making the filming atmosphere livelier and friendlier.
The chemistry between you and him hit off better than expected as well. You enjoyed his sometimes awkward jokes, you could follow up with this ad-libs and both of you saw eye-to-eye when it comes to how the both of you should act certain scenes to bring out certain message or emotions.
You usually speak to your staff and manager in english which would leave the total korean boy seon ho in awe. And you always joke that the hardest part about this drama is that you have to pretend that you dont understand english as you are supposed to play the role of a clueless housewife who became an intern in a top company. And Naeun who doesn’t understand english has to play the role of your manager who is capable and good at presentations and reports in english.
When the drama air, the public had good response and the chemistry between you and seon ho became recognised just as how people were speculating that Hyun Bin and Son Ye jin are definitely dating.
The both of you were not at the dating stage yet because seon ho is so busy. And his personality is so friendly that he usually maintain a very amicable relationship with everybody so you established that the both of you are just very good colleagues that managed to become friends outside of work.
To your surprise, seon ho called you one day - “chae young ahhh” he repeated and emphasized “chae young” a few times which was not your real name but the name of your character in the drama so you kind of had the sense to reply “oh yeobo”, which absolutely pleased him. Turns out it was a call from seon ho while filming 2 days 1 night. He was on a mission and he had to prove that he wasn’t lying when he said on the show that the both of you had good chemistry so choosing you to call to help him in the mission is the best person. You had to make a guess of the option his group chose in order for them to pass and be given lunch. The way you answered the call has already made a great impression to the team and the 2d1n members were all impressed by the chemistry you had with seon ho. You also passed the game round and they were saying that you should drop by the show as a guest as the next week, they will have to bring a female guest who are also their good friend to help them in the episode.
Your company is rather particular about their artistes appearing on variety shows and it’s only after they screened the other female guests and realised that the rest are mostly comedians, that they allowed you to be on the show and the instruction was that you have to maintain your image.
It was easy as the members and everyone in the team treated you like a princess in comparison to the 2 female comedians so as to make the show funnier. And seon ho especially took care of you as well even outside of the filming.
He introduced you to the actor yeon jung hoon who was on the show and in between breaks you were able to consult him about some concerns that you have, especially since you are juggling 2 dramas.
Towards the halfway mark of the drama filming with seon ho, you were offered another drama, a love story drama with a younger actor this time Seo Kang Joon. As the new drama is a typical courtship and love story drama, you were afraid that the way you act might not be able to draw a difference that well that the audience will be able to see the shadow of the divorced wife character that you are playing in the other drama.
Jung hoon adviced that every role will have some kind of resemblance because it all came from you. It’s impossible to always present a totally original and fresh character without some resemblance here and there. But maybe if we see the resemblance as the actor’s style and essence, then you wouldnt feel so pressured to draw the distinction between all the roles that you act in.
This scene was aired on 2d1n and it helped the public to see your professionalism and seriousness that you have towards acting.
You also helped the team by giving a call to Blackpink’s Rose. Rose answered the call with “heyyy what’s up” which excited the members even more as they didn’t expect the both of you to use english as main form of communication.
You were also good friends with Park Yuna who got famous from her role in Sky Castle and she also played the role of Bo young who is your sister in the drama with seon ho. Yuna was also an idol trainee previously which is why the both of you clicked so fast.
The drama with Seo Kang Joon was a success too but of course both dramas did not do as well as Start-Up and Crash Landing but in your terms it was successful as people were talking about it and it was the more popular dramas among the rest that were airing as well.
The chemistry between you and seon ho stood out even more as nobody really talked about seo kang joon and you having chemistry in that way.
Very quickly, you were offered a movie role and the male lead they were offering it to kim seon ho again. This time, the storyline was less sad as it was about a man and woman who took a break from their current life and went to Jeju island as an escape, met and fell in love there. Seon ho’s character broke up with his long-term girlfriend while your character left her job after being there for 8 years. And the both of you met in Jeju.
Many people were speculating if the both of you were dating, especially since dispatch released pictures of the both of you coming out of a convenience store together on your off days. And when your agency checked with you, you said no because technically seon ho has never officially asked you out. But somehow you felt a little bitter when you heard from your management that seon ho’s side has also denied the dating rumours.
But netizens were quite supportive especially because the pictures taken were candid shots of how the both of you played with each other. Seon ho offered to hold your plastic bag but you lifted it like how you would lift dumbbells to joke with him that you didnt need his help and he was laughing so hard. Most comments that people have after seeing the pictures is that the both of you are so cute and pure.
But because the pictures were exposed by dispatch, it made you and seon ho a little uncomfortable in front of public setting. Like the both of you had to attend the movie premiere and it was awkward to be standing together in front of the reporters and cameras as the both of you know that everyone in the room has seen the pictures and may or may not ask about your relationship status. You are not sure if it’s even more uncomfortable if they dont talk about the white elephant in the room. But the both of you were obviously less chummy that day, keeping a distance and avoiding eye contact as much as possible. Which led to people speculating that the rumours has caused you guys to break up.
But you were still in contact with each other in private, just that you two did not meet in person since then. It was after few months that the both of you met again and it was at drama awards. It felt less uncomfortable and awkward maybe because the both of you were more overwhelmed by the excitement of seeing each other again after so long that you two didn’t really care whether people will ask if you guys are dating again.
Another heart fluttering moment was when the mc asked if any of you felt something for the other person that you were acting alongside with, and the both of you raised your hands shyly and blushed when you both realised that both of you raised your hands.
When seon ho went on stage to claim the best actor award, you stood up and clap proudly. And the mc jokingly asked since the both of you raised your hands just now, are you guys dating for real already? Seon ho laughed this time and said “don’t worry i will let you guys know if there’s good news” making everyone excited with his ambiguous answer and you could only laugh and facepalm in embarassment.
Eventually, dispatch released articles of insider saying that 2 actors who have acted together recently in drama and movie are dating and it pointed to you and seon ho again.
You talked to your agency, wondering if the best way is to deny it again because you know that couples that admit their relationship usually end up breaking up. And couples who stay together usually become less active or don’t have many projects up ahead. Plus seon ho’s career is at his peak now, he wouldn’t want to risk anything and he might not even have the time to keep this relationship going.
But your management got the news that seon ho’s side is okay to admit to it if you are okay with it and that shocked you. You didn’t expect him to want to keep this relationship more than his career. But to seon ho, he doesn’t see how his career will go down just because of this. And his fame was a sudden one, he was never famous before that and he was okay with it.
Your management was also quite relaxed about this. It seems that you are the only one thinking too much into this. Eventually you realised that it was all in your head.
The next day all the news outlet were reporting - “BREAKING: Actor Kim Seon Ho and Y/N is in a relationship”.

Not just a Monster
Warning: blood, violence, death, making out
20: Fallen Hero
When searching for Cha Hyun-Su, I found him at the staircase. He was rubbing his hand with a blank stare. Seeing him again I began to get nervous, losing my Confident demeanor.
Remembering what I did. " you know it's not good to be alone all the time? you should stick with your buddy." I joked, gaining Hyun-Su attention. Sitting down, but he didn't say anything.
I frowned, wondering what was wrong? I then thought of an idea, grabbing his face I turned it over towards me. Scooting close, again I could tell he was holding his breath. I was making the first move again.
" who was it this time?" I ended up, caressing his jaw with my thumb moving it around in circles where I kissed him. " You get this look on your face when someone gives you a hard time."
I let go, laying my hands on my lap.
" I've noticed." He had looked down, to hide his face. But I followed, he was cute when he was being all bashful. It was my fault entirely. " hey, when some try's to fuck with you do this."
I mimicked what Eun-Yoo does making the bam sounds with my fingers. It meant cussing someone out in Sign language. I showed him, " that's all you have to do." I smiled, nudging his shoulder.
" you try." I offered, bringing his hand up he tried to do it but failed miserably. I laughed. " that was terrible, but you'll get it." I saw a little blush appear on his cheeks. " here," I took his hand in mine. " this is how you do it."
I brought his pointer finger up then folding it down, then I did the same thing with his pinky, middle, and thumb. I kept doing it until his pinky was the only thing left up.
I hooked it with mine, making a promise but I wasn't going to tell him, what it was." There you just made me a promise." I could tell he was confused, " What promise?" I rocked our hands back and forth a bit.
" this." I went for it seeing no one was around not that I cared. Regardless I needed to kiss him. I quickly leaned in planting a soft kiss, on his big lips. Cupping his face with my hands. I pressed my lips down Further.
He was stiff into the kiss, his lips felt dry and as rough as I thought. As mine moved against him, please kiss back I thought as as if he could read my mind. " screw it!" I heard him mumble, into my lips he kissed back.
I smiled, " God, if this turns out bad it's on you!"  He murmured, his arm hooked around my waist holding me tight to where I couldn't get out." then I'll just have to live with it!"
His continued to kiss me but we had to pulling away to catch are breaths. I was breathing hard so was he I placed my forehead on his, he was staring back at me with his dark ones. " —How was it?" he questioned, I laughed shaking my head. " you could use some Chapstick."
I teased trying to get him flustered more because they my lips tingle so bad. He seemed embarrassed now trying to cover them but I stopped him. " but hey, I like them that way."
I moved some of his bangs out of this face pushing them back out of his face. " I didn't take you as the touchy lovely Dovey type." Eun-hyuk's voice startled me. I jerked back, did he seriously have to be here? I wondered if he saw the whole make-out session.
" how long have you been standing there?" I stood up, he glanced down and smirked fixing his round glasses. " long enough." I rolled my eyes, only a perv would watch someone kiss somebody.
I tried to change the subject, " what are you doing here anyway?" I crossed my arms. Hoping he would move on and answer my question. " We'll be turning the water off soon, thought you guys might want to wash up before we do."
He informed us I remembered earlier when everyone was all cleaned up at dinner. " Eun-Yoo already has some clothes for you to borrow." he motioned his head, out the door. " she waiting by the restroom."
I nodded, not before whispering something in Hyun-Su's ear then leaving. Heading down to the restroom there waited Eun-Yoo. She had some black joggers and a white shirt.
" so where have you been?" She gave the clothes to me. I could only smile, thanking her. " I kissed him." After saying this her eyes went wide Beaming with curiosity. " is he a good kisser?" she followed me into the girls' restroom.
Taking a cigarette box out of her back pants pocket she took one lighting it. As I went to drawl the thick dark curtains around me. I didn't like changing in front of people. " well considering it was my first kiss I would say yeah."
I told honestly, taking off my clothes throwing them over where they hung metal poles. " he was your first kiss?" I drawled the curtain back popping out my head nodding. My lips were in a thin line as doing so.
" Wow, even so, when the world goes to shit that's when you get your first kiss." she blows out smoke, " well I'm going to let you shower I'm going going to bug some people." She waved bye leaving the restroom.
Of course, I thought smiling Turing on the water, it comes out fast a cold. It sent shivers down my spine but I got used to it since it's been so hot out. taking the set of soap I scrubbed my body off twice making sure to get all the blood, dirt, and sweat off from top to bottom.
I probably stunk but considering everyone was like that I'm pretty sure they couldn't tell. Finishing up with my hair I wiped off my body with a towel I pulled on my newish clothes.
I stared at myself in front of the mirror looking back at my reflection. I was surprised to see a different person. One where there was no dirt, blood covering my face like a mask. Now I was clean I felt good and refreshing.
I soon picked up my old clothing dumping them in a bin where everyone else's clothes were cleaning up after my self I walked out. Heading to the lobby to see Sang-Wook and Hyun-Su inter the elevator.
He was wearing a yarn striped green and pale orange sweater. I swore his hair looked shorted for some reason. I was about to call him wondering why they were going up there?
But the elevator door closed before I could say anything. So I waited for them sitting on the brown leather couch. Picking at my nails seeing how short they were. Ms. Cha had stepped in. She was usually with the little kids.
She was staring at something in front of her turning my head my eyes caught a red light and the numbers were counting down from one. It must be the guys' back but so soon? It sometimes takes an hour or so.
" Was it just the two guys" that went up?" she questioned but it was more like she was asking herself. But I nearly jumped when a loud ringing was disturbed from the air.
I covered my ears, But then Remembering it's the bell that Signal when a monster is near. The elevator door dinged open revealing one guy standing in the door his back was facing us and he smelled awful as it hurt my nose flies were flying everywhere.
Oh, God!
I was about to stop her but it was too late. " sir?" It soon twisted its head around as its mouth opened up and dozens of flies came out. I almost puked. But its body turned around facing frontwards no.
Ms. Cha screamed, as it came at her but I hurriedly got up pulling her out of the way grabbing her arm. But it kept coming for us as it swung its electric string trimmer. I ducked as Ms. Cha whimpered, I tried to calm her down but I wouldn't work.
As it swung again at us it almost caught her but I pushed her out of the way before it did. It was just me and the smelly monster guy now. He made weird sounds with his mouth like he was choking or more like gagging.
I backed up, trying to lead it away as far as I can. But not to fear because the others could be put in danger. It raises its trimmer again and I was for sure it was going to hit me.
I closed my eyes seeing I couldn't get away waiting for the hit but nothing came as I heard a clash with metal on metal.
Opening my eyes I saw Jae-Heon, he had held the monster off with his trusty katana sword. Holding it off, " Go! go help Ms. Cha!" He yelled, but what about him?
I didn't have a choice though because he pushed the monster back and I got up running to her to help her out of the way as Jae-Heon fought it. He raised the monster's trimmers with both of his hands gripping his sword.
As it collided with some wired metal roofing creating sparks. He held it there struggling as one of this arms was weak from his previous injury. There were loud clicking noises and grunting as he tried to hold it back.
But he couldn't hold on anymore as it came down, and when it did it brought Jae-Heon's arm with it. I let out an ear-pricing scream that seemed to echo when the blood splattered everywhere hitting me.
I was so stunned seeing his arm fly off, red crimson soaked his entire left side as he fell to the floor. I tried to run and help him but Ms. Cha held me back. Tears began to form. I screamed out again trying to pull away.
He can't die, what about him and Ji-Soo? " No! I have to help him!!" But her grip was tight on me. I couldn't get loose." if you go you'll get hurt too." I shook my head it wasn't right just to stand here and watch.
" he can't- he can't die someone needs to help!!" Soon I heard heavy footsteps coming our way. It was the group, coming to the rescue but they all came to a sudden halt. Gasp we're expressed all around the room.
It was quiet except for my crying struggling to get free. Jae-Heon had gotten up staggering a little. The monster attempted to walk up the small step but couldn't.
Jea-Heon had grabbed his half-broken sword walking closer to the monster getting behind him, he stabbed it in the chest pulling the thing in his embrace pulling him back.
He was leading it to the elevator. My eyes poured with tears realizing I cannot save him. He was sacrificing himself for the safety of the group. Then there was a banging sound with a door being pushed open.
It was a person they were crawling on their hands and knees. It was Hyun-Su was he hurt? He lifted his upper body leaning on a metal storage locker.
He gripped the spear In his hands watching the scene unfold. I could see tears in his eyes. As he fought to get up, mumbling underneath his breath.
When Jae-Heon turned the monster around pressing the elevator door open shoving him inside, there were multiple grunts, as he went in fighting it. He pulled out the sword-swinging it around. As the light kept flickering on and off.
He dodged the trimmers, going over to the front doors pressing the button to close it, as it did the electric door closed and reopened each time there was more blood splatter on the walls.
When it opened again not able to close because the trimmers were in between it stopping the doors from closing Jae-Heon grabbed the monster taking him down to the ground. Puncturing the jug that was attached to the motor that runs the trimmer it leaked gas everywhere.
I knew what he was doing he was going to catch himself on fire. " throw it!!" Jae-Heon yelled to saw Seung-Wan he was holding a bottle with cloth in it that was on fire.
But he didn't throw it too scared to. His body shook. But everyone was tense, not wanting to hurt him more than he already was. Jae-Heon laid on the floor not letting go of the monster red was the only color that was Prominent in the elevator.
" throw it now!!" He screamed again, I saw Eun-hyuk look between him and Seung-wan debating to do what I think he was doing. He ran to him taking the jar waiting for the perfect moment to throw it but also hesitant because he was his friend.
It was weak but Jae-Heon's last words threw it he mouthed. I could see Eun-Hyuk trying to hold back tears but he threw it. It setting everything on fire. I watched as it was burning them up I couldn't look anymore Turing my head away.
My chin began to quiver, as I drawled in deep breaths. I tried to control my sobs, if I had just fought the monster instead of letting Jae-Heon do it he would still be alive.

I Might Be Dating An Idiot — Yoon Sanha
Tumblr media
Warnings: None
Contains: Sanha x Y/N. Also, Sanha’s kind of an idiot. It’s a good thing he’s cute.
Requested: no
Words: 1, 576
————————————————————————
I groan in annoyance, flopping my head down on the table. “Eun-Jae, is it really my turn? You know where I am,” I whine. Eun-Jae sighs softly and I can almost see her roll her eyes at me.
“Y/N...we schedule this stuff for a reason. You know we need to do Lives and you were next,” she reminds me.
“I’m literally at the Astro dorm! They’ll notice something’s off!” I complain.
“Just...do what you can, okay?” She sighs.
“Ugh, fine,” I groan. Eun-Jae and I say goodbye to each other before hanging up.
As soon as we hang up, I groan loudly and flop down on the table again. “Uh...you okay, Y/N?” Rocky asks, raising an eyebrow.
“I have to do a Live,” I sigh.
“Here?” He asks, his eyebrows shooting into his hairline. I nod my head and sigh again, picking up my phone. I walk out of the kitchen and into the living room. All of the boys are gathered there, watching a movie together. Immediately, my eyes fall on Sanha, my childhood best friend and current boyfriend. He’s taking up most of the sofa, his tall body sprawled out in all directions. I smile to myself and speak up.
“Hey guys, I’ve gotta do a Live. Could I use one of your bedrooms?” I ask. JinJin looks up from the floor and raises his hand. Since he’s one of the only members without a sleeping partner, I thank him and head for his bedroom.
JinJin’s room is fairly clean and I internally thank him, sitting down at his desk and turning on the light. I find something to set my phone against and start the Live soon after. “Hello!” I smile, waving at the camera. Immediately, the comments start blowing up with greetings. Mixed in with the greetings, I see a few people asking about my location. Most of the time, I do Lives from either my bedroom, or living room or kitchen in my dorm. Since this is obviously none of those, I figured the fans would ask. “I’m just visiting a friend for a little bit. They let me use their bedroom for the vLive,” I tell the fans. The comments start flowing in again, constantly flashing over the screen.
Humming softly, I look through the comments. A few people are asking what friend I’m staying with, but I ignore those comments. The fans know that I’m friends with Astro and they love my friendship with each member, but no one knows about Sanha and my relationship. It’s been pretty hush-hush and really only necessary people know. I mean, our parents know, of course, but other than that, it’s just our agencies and members. Some of the comments are asking about what I’m humming and I chuckle lightly, saying it’s a random kpop song. The fans start guessing and we turn it into a game. I hum little parts of it and they comment what song they think it is.
Honestly, I do like doing Lives. They make me really happy. I just wish I could’ve spent the night with my boyfriend and not shut up in his member’s bedroom. For the most part, the Live is going pretty well. I talk with the fans and shift from topic to topic, not really settling on anything. When I get hungry, I tell them and leave the phone in JinJin’s bedroom, going out into the kitchen and grabbing a random snack. Rocky laughs when he sees me, but I just smile and make a little ‘shh’ motion with my hand. He puts up his hands to say ‘I saw nothing’ and I hurry back to JinJin’s room.
Calmly, I sit down in his chair again. “I got my snack,” I laugh, showing the food to the camera. The comments explode with emojis and people congratulating me. I laugh lightly, shaking my head at their humor and popping the food into my mouth. Throughout the Live, I talk about anything that comes to my mind. When the fans ask questions, I answer answer them to the best of my ability. “‘When will we be having a comeback?’ Hmm...soon. We’re working on stuff and practicing right now,” I say happily. The comments explode again and I smile, looking through them calmly.
The Live goes on for a while. My group has always been known for having *super* long Lives...mostly because we just don’t know when to stop talking. I love interacting with our fans, so I always try to talk to them as much as I can. When they ask questions, I answer them as much as I can. Obviously, there are some things that I can’t tell them, but I say whatever I can. I come up with some games to play with the fans watching and actually have a decently fun time. However, about an hour and a half into the Live, something that I didn’t count on happens.
I’m answering a random question when I hear the door behind me open up. Instantly, I go rigid and pray that whatever member remembers I’m in here doing a vLive. “Hey, babes...what do you want for dinner?” Sanha asks, looking down at his phone without looking up. I gasp and stare at him, my jaw hanging open. As soon as he hears me gasp, Sanha looks up and his eyes go wide. His eyes land on the vLive on my phone and he immediately backs out of the room, closing the door.
For a few seconds, I stare at the door in horror. But, no matter how much I will time to go backwards...the damage has been done. Slowly, I turn back to the Live and see all the comments flooding in. ‘Was that Sanha?’ ‘Did he just call her ‘babes’?!’ ‘She’s at the Astro dorm!’ ‘MY SHIP IS SAILING’. Comments flash across the screen every second and I stare at them in just as much horror. Oh. Shit. This is not how I wanted my relationship to get out.
Finally, finding my voice again, I speak up. “Okay! And that’s where I’m gonna end the Live! Hope you guys had fun! Bye!” I say, quickly turning off the vLive. As soon as the Live is off, I jump up from my seat and run out into the hallway. “Yoon Sanha, I’m going to kill you!” I scream. A frightened scream comes from the living room and I run towards it, fuming. I run into the living room and find Sanha trying to hide behind Moonbin. I stalk over to him, my head spinning with everything that’s happened in such a short time. Moonbin looks highly confused as to what happened and why I’m so frustrated. JinJin stares between us in shock.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold up! What happened?” JinJin asks, holding his hands up towards both me and Sanha.
“Your maknae probably just told half my fanbase that we’re dating!” I exclaim.
Immediately, JinJin’s eye go wide and he turns to Sanha. “You...did...*what*?!”
“I didn’t mean to! You asked me to ask what she wanted, so I did!” He protests.
“And in the same sentence, called me ‘babes’,” I say, crossing my arms over my chest. JinJin groans, pinching his nose.
“Oh, this is gonna be a headache,” he sighs.
“...In my defense, I thought your Live was over,” he says softly, peeking his head out from behind Moonbin. I sigh softly, rubbing my temples lightly.
In my pocket, my phone starts vibrating violently. I take it out and see all the notifications from all my social medias. Seconds later, my managers contact appears on my phone. I groan loudly, showing the screen to each of the members. Taking a deep breath, I click the ‘answer’ button and put her on speaker. “...Hello?” I ask softly.
“What the hell, Y/N!” She exclaims. I cringe at her voice, biting my lip lightly.
“...Sorry...” I mumble. My manager immediately goes on a rant and I can almost hear her pacing back and forth.
Across the room, Sanha is hiding behind Moonbin again. I narrow my eyes at him. “Would you like to speak to Sanha, since he caused this?” I ask.
“I’d like to speak to you both, actually,” she tells me, frustration laced through her voice. Slowly, Sanha comes out from behind Bin.
“Is it alright that the members are here?” He asks.
“If you want them there, fine,” she responds.
For what seems like hours, but can’t be more than 30 minutes, we all talk to my manager. Sanha and I do most of the talking, with the other members gathered around us for support. “Just...be glad that both of your fandoms like your friendships,” she sighs finally.
“Yeah...that’s definitely an added bonus. Though...I’ll probably still be getting a lot of hate,” I sigh.
“Well...there’s that. But, we’ll figure it out. You two spend some time together before all the meetings that are going to come of this,” she says.
Soon after, the call ends. I sigh softly, turning to look at Sanha. He flashes me a nervous smile and lets out a nervous laugh. “...Did you know you’re a fucking idiot?” I ask plainly. Sanha hangs his head sadly, his bottom lip pushing out adorably. Sighing again, I pull him into a hug. “But...you’re my idiot,” I say. He picks his head up, smiling brightly and kisses my cheek. I giggle, wrapping my arms around his neck. Yep...this is my idiot.

WIP Wednesday
So @rain-hat said I should post a bit from the latest fic so she can read it (properly formatted and not in a chat window, I think??), so here’s a bit from an as yet untitled fic set post-canon verse TKEM, featuring our favourite cop-who-got-a-different-life and also orphan-who-got-a-different-life thanks to Lee Gon being a total ass.
The White Lily Orphanage isn’t a state organization, instead it’s run by the nuns from the Sisters of the St.Paul of Chartres Convent, one of the earliest established Catholic orders in the Kingdom. It’s not a large home- they have the ability to take in around twenty children at a time, though at the moment they have only half the number. The youngest right now is a three year old ball of sunshine, Jia and the oldest is the lanky fourteen year old Jihun. Hyeon-Min has been attending Mass at the church attached to the convent with eomma since- well, since he was ten.
(God sent Prince Buyeong to us, eomma had said, having found God via the kindness of a stranger, we must be grateful.
Hyeon-min had accepted her explanation then, and now, twenty years later, he doesn’t feel the need to tarnish her faith with his cynicism. He maybe agnostic about God, but he knows that the sisters are kind, that they try to do their best by their young charges, and that’s enough.
He knows enough about the world that he believes that one of its rules should be to pass on the kindness of strangers.)
He parks his bike and grabs his gym bag with the change of clothes, noting a rather beaten up looking sedan in the parking lot. Perhaps there were some potential adopters visiting today, not a very frequent occurrence.
The rates of adoptions in Corea were low, compared to the number of children who needed families. Usually, children who lost their parents were taken in by grandparents, if they were still alive, or the parents’ siblings, if they were not. The ones who ended up in the system- they were truly society’s rejects, the ones who had no one left who cared about them; a patrilineal society obsessed with bloodlines didn’t see them as anything but an inconvenience, or a shameful secret. That their own king was an orphan was not a hypocrisy; Lee Gon was king first, orphan second.
The slack with respect to the less nobly orphaned was picked up by religious or charitable trusts, and only a little by the government. The rules governing adoption were prohibitive- Seo Ryeong had told him about the circles that eomeonim and she had to run to officially take Gyeong-ah into the family. At some point, it had come down to bribery. She’d been tight-lipped and her eyes had glinted in fury, when she’d told him,  though it had already been far enough in the past that Gyeong-ah no longer woke up crying from nightmares, and didn’t stuff her food down at each meal as though she didn’t know when she’d next get one, or try to take as little room as possible in their already tiny apartment.
Gyeong-ah usually accompanies him on these visits too, though she couldn’t make it today.
“LET ME SLEEP” she’d texted in all caps, “I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE FOR AT LEAST 24 HRS HYUNGNIM” .
He figured that meant she’d drop by when he wasn’t around.
 Jia-ya is the first one to spot him when he enters the common room, which is where the kids are normally, at this hour. She runs toward him, almost tripping on her toes, with her hands already raised high above her head. He drops the bag on the floor and swings her up, twirling her around, while she squeals delightedly. When he lowers her, she throws her arms around his neck, placing a candy-sticky kiss on his cheek.
“Hyungnim, where were you??” she demands. “You’ve gone so long that Chia forgot you”.
Chia is her favourite toy- a rather ratty looking cloth panda.
“Sorry Jia-ya” he says, “I had a lot of work”
She pouts. “Have you got chocolate?”
“Mmmhmm” he replies, nodding, “But let’s share with everyone later, ok?”
He puts her down on the floor, and turns to the others who’ve come up, all grinning, except Jihun, who’s trying to look unconcerned, remaining where he’s seated at one of the two computers, headphones in, fingers flying rapidly over the keyboard.
“Hey everyone” he says, reaching out to ruffle a head, tweak a chin. “Ready for a game?”
They’ve got a small basketball court at the back, not professional, by any means, but enough for the kids to work out some of their energy. For soccer, and other games, Gyeong-ah and he take them to a nearby sports club. Ryeong-ah had been the one who worked out a deal with the local residents association that owned the club when she’d made Assemblywoman; it was her constituency after all, and she had cultivated her relationships at local level, as much as she had in the higher echelons. Thanks to (former) Assemblywoman Koo, the kids now had access on alternate Sundays to the club. Luckily, the Sisters of St.Paul of Chartres weren’t too strict about preserving the holiness of the  Sabbath rest; as long as the kids attended Mass in the morning, the rest of the day could be spent as they wished. Today is a Sunday when they don’t have access to the sports club, so Hyeon-Min’s plans are adjusted accordingly- a game, then lunch with everyone, and then piling them all into the small van the orphanage has and taking them for ice cream, before he has to drop back at the station, just to check in on Woo Ji-hyun and Bo-Young who have the day shift today.
“Where’s Sister Lee?” he asks, and twelve-year old Su-bin pipes up “She has a visitor today” and her twin, Yun-seo adds, “He’s a handsome oppa”.
“Is he now?’ Hyeon-min grins down at her.
“Not as cool as you, hyungnim” she assures him earnestly.
“Drop the flattery” he tells her seriously, “You’re not getting an extra scoop later. Everyone go on and get changed.”
The twins and the others- Ming-yu, Jun-ho, Min-su, Seong-min, Min-ji and Eun-ji- dart off.
He picks up his bag again, heading off to the guest room to get changed, calling “Jihun-a, c’mon, let’s go” only to get a shoulder lifted in a shrug, Jihun not even bothering to look at him.
Well, he thought, that was new.
He didn’t press him, confident that Jihun would find his way out later. The problem, perhaps, was that Jihun was a few years older than the others, almost fifteen, ready for high school. The next oldest were the twins, at twelve, and the others fell between nine and eleven, except Jia, who was everybody’s darling at three.
Jihun was preparing to write the same scholarship exam that Hyeon-Min had taken all those years ago, to get into CNA. His grades at the local public school were pretty good, and he excelled especially at art- but it was a tough school to get into, given the sheer number of candidates applying, even more than when Hyeon-Min and Ryeong-ah had given the test.
Hyeon-min thought he could recognize in Jihun the same kind of hunger that he’d seen in Ryeong-ah, all those years ago. And just like all those years ago, one part of him was amazed, and proud; another was just scared for Jihun, for what the world might do to him, outside of the safety of this place. He tried to shrug the fear off- what use could it be to Jihun- and had begun helping him prepare for the test, instead.
Perhaps Jihun was upset because he hadn’t been able to come by for three weeks, although he’d spoken to him a few times on the phone and had checked in with Sister Lee as well.
When he changes into his shorts and t-shirt and comes back to check in, Jihun’s disappeared. Perhaps he’d changed his mind and decided to join the game, after all.
He’s about to duck out of the room, when Sister Lee comes in accompanied by a young man- the “handsome oppa” of Yun-seo’s description, clearly.
“Ah, Inspector Kang” she says, giving him her usual warm smile. “Good morning. You finally have a day off, I see.”
“Good morning, Sister Lee” he greets her, bowing.
She turns to the man with her.
“This is Senior Inspector Kang Hyeon-min from Busan PD” she says, and the man gives him a strangely assessing look, and bows. He’s fair, slightly shorter than Hyeon-Min, a dark eyes and a sharp nose in a square-jawed face. The glasses and the clothes- a light blue button down shirt that’s unbuttoned at the collar over khaki slacks,  give him the look of a librarian on vacation. He’s probably a few years younger than Hyeon-Min.
“I’m Kim Jun-Yeong” he says, bowing toward Hyeon-Min.
“Mr.Kim teaches art at the school” she says, meaning the local public school all the kids here attend. “He came by to talk about Jihun.”
“Is something the matter?” Hyeon-min asks, immediately. “Is Jihun in trouble?”
“Nothing like that” Mr.Kim says, with a smile. “In fact, I came by to chat with Sister Lee about Jihun’s future plans. He told me that he was preparing for admission at CNA.”
Hyeon-Min nods. “I’m trying to help out” he says. “When I can.”
“Inspector Kang has been a huge support to the children here for years” Sister Lee says, giving him another warm smile. “And since he’s a CNA alumnus himself, he’s probably the best suited to help Jihun ace the exam.”
“Yes, of course”, Mr.Kim says, adding, “Jihun-a has told me a lot about you already, Senior Inspector Kang.”
“Oh” says Hyeon-Min, politely, “He’s never mentioned you to me.”
Something wry passes over Mr. Kim’s face at that, and it makes Hyeon-min feel a little silly.
“Mr. Kim is of the opinion that Jihun should perhaps try for an art school later” Sister Lee says, “And finish high school at some school less demanding than CNA, Kang-ssi”.
“Did Jihun-a say that’s what he wants to do?” Hyeon-min asks, stunned. Jihun had never mentioned it to him.
There’s an awkward silence.
“He did seem open to the idea” Mr.Kim says, sounding a little apologetic. “He started asking me about art schools and scholarships a while ago. I didn’t know then that you were already preparing him for the CNA entrance.”
‘But” says Hyeon-min, feeling like the rug had been pulled from under his feet.
Sister Lee says, thoughtfully, “Perhaps he was uncomfortable bringing it up with me or you, Kang-ssi.”
“We never forced him”, Hyeon-min feels compelled to protest.
“Jihun-a admires you a lot, Kang-ssi” Mr.Kim murmurs, “It is but natural he would want to follow in your footsteps.”
Hyeon-min looks at him and meets that calmly assessing look again.
“Did he ask you to meet Sister Lee and talk about this?”
“No” says Mr.Kim, “He didn’t. In fact, I think he was a little upset when he saw me today.”
Well, that explained earlier, Hyeon-Min realizes.
“Will you—” starts Sister Lee, nodding toward back, from where they can already here the shouts of the children.
“Yes” Hyeon-Min answers. “I’ll have a chat with him.”
“Good” she says, smiling again at him. “I’ll talk to him later as well.”
She turns to the teacher.
“Mr.Kim, I really appreciate your dropping by. It’s not often we get teachers who are so concerned with the well-being of our students.”
Mr.Kim says, quietly, “I was brought up in a home too- not as good as this one” he adds. “I know what it’s like.”
Oh.
Well, now, Hyeon-Min feels like a total piece of shit.
“Thank you, Kim-ssi” he says, and tries to infuse it with something more than stiff formality.
Mr.Kim gives him a short nod.
“I’d better head over before the fighting starts” Hyeon-min says, giving Sister Lee a smile. “I’ll see you at lunch, Sister Lee.”
They part ways, and when Hyeon-min reaches the court just in time to stop Min-ji from punching Eun-ji in the face, he sees that Jihun is there as well, but sitting on the side-lines, playing with Jia, although he’s changed into game clothes as well.
He darts a glance at Hyeon-min and then quickly looks away, flushing.
Hyeon-min jogs up to him.
“Get in” he says, clapping him on the back, “So I don’t have to keep the peace all by myself”
Jihun looks up at him, uncertain, as though he’d expected Hyeon-min to be- angry- with him.
“Jihun-a” he says, holding out a hand toward him, “ C’mon.”
Jihun takes his hand and lets himself be hauled up, and Hyeon-min even manages to get a one-armed hug in before he scampers off, suddenly cheerful.
 It’s a good game, and after, as they’re all chattering at the lunch table, Gyeong-ah comes in and plonks herself down opposite the twins, and they stuff themselves to the gills before piling into the van.
Gyeong-ah’s driving, and as they pull out of the gate, Hyeon-min notices a black Hummer parked in the alley, five cars away,  the glasses shaded so dark, he can’t see inside.
He has an idle moment of wondering what a car like that was doing in the neighbourhood but is distracted by Jia-ya climbing into his lap to tell him all about Chia’s adventures in the place she calls “Funderland” (like Wonderland, but fun, she insists).
 On the way back, Gyeong-ah drives again, and this time the kids are mostly in a food coma, some of them burping softly, sprawling on the seats, so he gets a chance to talk to Jihun, settling beside him, right at the back.
“So” he says, “art school, huh?”
Jihun glances at him quickly and then away, head bent.
“Do you know which ones you’re interested in?”
Jihun looks up then.
“You’re not angry?” he asks, uncertainty writ large on his young face.
“Just surprised” Hyeon-min admits. “Why didn’t you ever tell me or Sister Lee? You know we wouldn’t have stopped you.”
He shrugs, looking away.
“Everyone’s expecting me to become the first CNA graduate from the home” he says, softly. “All these years”.
“Nobody wants you to be anything other than happy, Jihun-a” Hyeon-min contradicts him, gently. “I’m sorry if I ever gave you any other idea.”
Jihun turns to him.
“I did think I wanted that too” he says, candidly. “But then—I don’t know, hyungnim, frankly, it sounds like an awful place in other ways.”
“Who’ve you been talking to?” Hyeon-min asks, surprised, because he’d never said anything to Jihun about it other than good things about the academics, and the opportunities it would open up for him.
Jihun gives him a pitying look.
“Hyungnim” he says, “You know the internet is a thing right? Or was it not a thing when you were young?”
“Hey” he says, “I’m thirty-one, not a dinosaur.”
Jihun looks unconvinced.
“Student forums” he says, helpfully. “And even Mr.Kim—”
“Mr.Kim went to CNA?” Hyeon-min asks, surprised again.
“No” says Jihun, “But I think he knows people. He’s a teacher, right, he knows this stuff.”
“Hmm” says Hyeon-min, miffed.
Jihun eyes him again. “Are you angry I didn’t tell you, but I told Mr.Kim?”
Wow, Hyeon-min thinks, dissected by a fourteen-year old, wonderful.
“Don’t give me your backchat, Jihun-a” he says, and Jihun grins at him.
Hyeon-min diverts the talk into the art schools he’s interested in, and they spend the rest of the ride like that.
 Later, before Gyeong-ah and he head off, they have a talk with Sister Lee.
Sister Lee Jeong-hui- or “Dragon Lady” as Gyeong-ah liked to call her- was a petite woman with delicate wrists, and long fingered hands that poked out of the sleeves of her habit. Unlike most of her contemporaries, she’d joined the Order, not as a young girl, but in her mid-thirties, after making a name for herself as a labour rights lawyer, working up north, in the mining communities. She’d moved to Busan when her health took a downturn- her asthma was something terrible- and she’d been shunted around the diocese until ending up at the orphanage ten years ago. She’d taken one look at the lackadaisical administration of the Orphanage- then run by Sister Pa, who was already in her seventies, taken a deep breath, and got to work. She’d transformed the place, scrounging funding wherever she could- sometimes by just persistently annoying the powers that be- and was currently in a long drawn out battle with the Bishop of the Diocese over her demand that they expand their current home to start a support home for single mothers- the people most likely to abandon their children, for lack of resources and societal stigma.
They talk about her latest efforts in that direction, after Hyeon-min tells her about his conversation with Jihun.
“Thank you Inspector Kang” she says, softly, “I hope you’re not too disappointed.”
“Of course not” he says, staunchly, though perhaps he was, a little. “Jihun’s going to be great at whatever he does.”
“Yes” she agrees, a fond smile transforming her rather grave face into loveliness. “He’s a blessed child”.
“Anyway” she says, sighing, “Perhaps it’s just as well. Even with a scholarship, funding for other expenses would have always been a tension. This way, we have some time to prepare before he goes to art school.”
Gyeong-ah says, “What did the Welfare Association say?”
When the Diocese had hummed-and-hawed about the home for women, Sister Lee had turned elsewhere.
Sister Lee makes a rather un-saintly face. “That government policy doesn’t include- and you won’t believe this, or perhaps you will- doesn’t include subsidizing and rewarding irresponsible behaviour”.
“I thought Ryeong-ah said they had a specific budget for women’s welfare” Gyeong-ah says, hotly. “They can’t deny it only to some women, can they? Plus it’s a discretionary budget.”
Sister Lee sighs. “Child, I don’t know if I have the energy to fight that battle right now. If we had someone on the Committee there- but it’s all bureaucrats who think of it as a sinecure position really…”
She shrugs, and pats Gyeong-ah’s shoulder, comforting.
“I’m not giving up, Seo-Gyeong” she says, “Not yet.”
They bid her goodbye.
 As she puts on her helmet and climbs onto the bike, Gyeong-ah says, abruptly, “Sometimes I’m so angry with unnie for what she did- because she fucked up her chance to help people like Sister Lee, who really need her”.
“ Song & Kim will get her out” he says, “Right?”
“But what about after?” she argues, putting her hand on his shoulder. “Her political career is probably over.”
“It’s never over with Ryeong-ah” he reminds her, belting his own helmet, and adjusting the strap of his gym bag over his jacket.
As they drive out of the gate, he sees that the Hummer isn’t there anymore.

GET READY FOR THE SCHOOL NURSE FILES WITH THESE HIGH SCHOOL K-DRAMAS SCENES YOU KNOW AND LOVE
The School Nurse Files might become your new favorite high school drama!
Tumblr media
The highly buzzed about series The School Nurse Files is finally here! The School Nurse Files centers on high school nurse Ahn Eun-young (Jung Yu-mi) who works with Classical Chinese teacher Hong In-pyo (Nam Joo-hyuk) to protect students. High school dramas have a special appeal that attracts a variety of different people.
From coming-of-age stories to youthful romance, there’s something relatable for everyone. Signature scenes and locations add to the familiar charm. We love the memories from high school as we adults would like to escape to simpler times. Check out some quintessential high school k-drama scenes and locations here:
The Classroom
Tumblr media
High school dramas involve students so, of course, they need to spend some time in the classroom. But did you notice that there is a specific part of the classroom K-drama students tend to sit in? They tend to sit near the back and often close by the window just like Oh Ji-soo (Kim Dong-hee) in Extracurricular and Hyun Tae-woon (Kim Jung-hyun) in School 2017.
Tumblr media
New Student Introduction
Tumblr media
In Korea, new students introduce themselves in front of the classroom on their first day. It’s especially nerve wracking for Jo Kang-ja (Kim Hee-seon) because she’s pretending to be a high school student in order to find the bully who tormented her daughter in Angry Mom. Having a new student definitely shakes things up and makes it interesting. Choi Joon-woo (Ong Seong-wu) is a lonely transfer student in Moment of Eighteen.
Tumblr media
School Infirmary
Tumblr media
Is it just me or do K-drama characters get hurt and sick more often than us? Whatever the case, there’s plenty of scenes at the school infirmary. The School Nurse Files centers on school nurse Ahn Eun-young (Jung Yu-mi), so there’s plenty of fun scenes where she works. Kim Jo-jo (Kim So-hyun) and Lee Hye-yeong (Jung Ga-ram) also have a secret infirmary encounter in Love Alarm S1.
Tumblr media
Locker Scenes
Tumblr media
You use lockers to store books and belongings, but they’re also a popular place to chat and gaze longingly at the object of your affection. Ha-ru (Rowoon) gives a swoon-worthy look here in Extraordinary You while Cho Sang-hoon (Kim Do-wan) shows angsty vibes in front of his locker in Moment of Eighteen.
Tumblr media
Water Fountain
Tumblr media
School water fountains are frequently found in high school dramas. You can drink water, wash your hands, clean stuff, and peek at cute students there. Hyun Tae-woon (Kim Jung-hyun) and Ra Eun-ho (Kim Se-jeong) have a sweet water fountain encounter in School 2017. Ha-ru (Rowoon) and Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-yoon) also look cute beside a water fountain in Extraordinary You.
Tumblr media
School Rooftop
Tumblr media
K-dramas certainly love their share of rooftop scenes. While rooftop access might become more restricted these days, there are plenty of locations where students try to have a space of their own. Student X is overlooking the view from the rooftop in School 2017. Park Sun-ho (Nam Da-reum) and Oh Joon-seok (Seo Dong-hyun) have a dangerous argument on the rooftop in Beautiful World.
Tumblr media
Library
Tumblr media
A part of being a student naturally requires spending some time studying. What better place to study than the library? The library is an important place where Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-yoon) discovers the truth about her identity in Extraordinary You. Choi Joon-woo (Ong Seong-wu) focuses on studying in the library as well in Moment of Eighteen.
Tumblr media
Extracurricular Activities
Tumblr media
Well-rounded students take on extracurricular activities outside of studying. You can’t help but swoon when you see good-looking characters excel at a variety of skills. Lee Do-hwa (Jung Gun-joo) looks super handsome while playing the violin in Extraordinary You. Han Yi-han (Nam Joo-hyuk) is a star swimmer in Who Are You: School 2015.
Tumblr media
Physical Education
Tumblr media
Physical Education, also known as P.E., is a mandatory part of school so it’s no surprise that it appears in high school dramas as well. To amp up the drama, special sports events are often used in scenes. We see this on the field of Moment of Eighteen. Baek Kyung (Lee Jae-wook) and Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-yoon) participate in a three-legged race in Extraordinary You. It’s a nice change from their everyday school uniforms.
Tumblr media
Dressing Casual
Tumblr media
Speaking of not wearing school uniforms, there are always scenes where we can see students dressed casually outside of school. Sometimes it leads to romantic scenes in an almond farm like in Inheritors or down-to-earth fun with friends in Reply 1988.
Tumblr media
Dressing Up
Tumblr media
Other times, we can see characters dressed up for fancier occasions. This usually results in someone being stunned by the beautiful transformation and they end up seeing the other person in a different way. In Extracurricular, Oh Ji-soo (Kim Dong-hee) is blown away by Bae Gyu-ri (Park Ju-hyun) who is dolled up. Oh Nam-joo (Kim Young-dae) puts on a spiffy bowtie in Extraordinary You.
Tumblr media
Cafeteria
Tumblr media
You have to eat to fuel your brain and body for the school day, so there are plenty of cafeteria and lunch scenes in high school dramas. It’s always fun viewing appetizing meals that sometimes look better than our own lunches. Choi Joon-woo (Ong Seong-wu) eats a typical high school lunch in Moment of Eighteen. On the other hand, Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-yoon) and Ha-ru (Rowoon) enjoy a fancier lunch at their school in Extraordinary You.
Tumblr media
Convenience Store
Tumblr media
Students typically don’t have a ton of cash, so they’ll opt for cheap and tasty eats at convenience stores when eating outside of school. Yoo Soo-bin (Kim Hyang-gi) sits inside a one in Moment of Eighteen. You can also see high school students working at convenience stores like Han Dong-soo (Seo Young-joo) in Beautiful World.
Tumblr media
Bicycles
Tumblr media
High school students in Korea usually aren’t old enough to drive cars, so they’ll ride bikes or motorcycles instead. Kim Jo-jo (Kim So-hyun) and Lee Hye-yeong (Jung Ga-ram) have a sweet bicycle ride in the snow in Love Alarm S1. Choi Joon-woo (Ong Seong-qu) uses his bike for transportation in Moment of Eighteen.
Tumblr media
Buses and Bus Stops
Tumblr media
Not all students own and ride bikes, so buses are another common form of transportation for high school students. Being in close proximity with your crush can easily lead to heart-fluttering moments. Kim So-hyun shares a gentle moment with Nam Joo-hyuk on a bus in Who Are You: School 2015. She also stands with Song Kang at a bus stop while it’s raining in Love Alarm S1.
Tumblr media
Which of the quintessential high school K-drama scenes do you like most? You can watch all of the mentioned shows on Netflix.
List of mentioned shows: Angry Mom, Beautiful World, Extracurricular, Extraordinary You, Love Alarm S1, Moment of Eighteen, Reply 1988, School 2017, The School Nurse Files, Who Are You: School 2015

jumbled thoughts on crash landing on you (2020).
ㅡ this is nowhere near what you’d call a ‘review’.
spoiler alert!
.
.
First of all, I might need to say that I initially had no plan on watching this show. It’s pretty understandable considering that I recently lost interest on being the avid drama watcher I was, and now shifting more on films & books. You see...if you watch too many dramas, it’s totally normal to get bored of it (i mean the overused tropes???typical plot???) and just staying away from it. It’s not helping that recent shows I’ve watched are lackluster at best, and I haven’t been able to found a good one in a while. But I was just recently subscribed to Netflix, and this pops up more than I’d want it to, which brought me to mindlessly clicking the first episode due to boredom I’ve had for not watching any shows in MONTHS and the rest is history. I wasn’t that excited for starting this one to be frankly, due to endless spoilers I’ve gotten from twt and I had been mad over it. I was in a state where I knew how this’d end, but goes for it anyways because I have nothing to do.
The scriptwriter for this particular show is also the one who wrote You Who Came from the Stars (2013) and Legend of the Blue Sea (2017), and I wasn’t exactly a big fan of her writing. And the very troupe that I immensely dislike on the afore-mentioned shows was included on this drama as well. This scriptwriter seems to have a huge liking for putting out thriller-like tone on a romance drama, and it didn’t sit well for my preferences. If you’ve watched these three shows, you’d know all the leads are ALWAYS having dangerous encounter with villains and near-death experiences you’d rarely see in romcoms. It bugged me off how much she seems glued to this troupe and constantly having it on three representative shows she’s writing for, and these are honestly one of my ultimate reason for not doing rewatches for her dramas (I think CLOY could be an obvious exception due to the stellar casting choices for the leads; i’ll explain this later). Not a lot of people could do a well-written thriller-romance, and hers weren’t ones of those. It takes a fair and well-balanced tone to make it work, but in these shows, it just feels like constant fillers and a complete try-hard to make this unpredictable, when all we know that it’s nearly impossible to kill the leads (which I might be wrong while making this seamless assumption but okay).
The biggest downside for the writing style for these shows (bcs I’m not just talking about cloy ㅡit applies just the same for ywcfts and lotbs) is the very inability of Park Ji-eun scriptwriter-nim to write at least a DECENT ending for her shows. And that, my friend, is why I wouldn’t give this perfect score despite my unlimited praises in terms of acting, when I knew how good it’d be if she just let go of her obsession for making the ending ‘impactful’ (which seems to be horribly received by the audiences), and just write a proper ending for ONCE. It’s a big shame it didn’t happen on this drama (*disappointed but not suprised*), but I won’t stop hoping nonetheless. She has a knack for writing witty & entertaining script with great cast ensemble, and that’s why despite my dislike for some of the traits of her shows, I still watch them anyways.
Aside for the poorly-written ending, while I found the editing for first half of the show a lil bit tacky sometimes (especially when it needed CGI), Crash Landing on You also suffers from unnecessary lengthy duration (mostly because it hit big domestically and internationally and the creators get greedy which is never a good thing) that could have been made effective if they weren’t spent so long on shallowly written villainous role which seems to be written for the sake of unpredictability (and was acted wonderfully by Oh Man-suk with its limited character background given). It happened as well on YWCFTS and LOTBS, and again, if you’ve seen those two shows, you’d know how similar the pattern for the plot of CLOY compared to them. If you love them, then it’d work out good for CLOY as well, and if it’s not (like me), then you’d know what kind of writing style Park Ji-eun’s best at along with her worst features on the shows.
.
.
.
.
DO THESE LISTED-DOWN FLAWS MEAN I’M NOT ENJOYING THE SHOW?
NO.
In fact, I’m enjoying it a whole lot more than I did with ywcfts and lotbs.
What ultimately sets cloy apart from the two shows is the leads’ acting compability. With ywcts and lotbs, it’s no doubt and much obvious to see that Jun Ji-hyun greatly overshadowed her acting opponentㅡplaying on roles she’s best at, be it as a spoiled popular actress and clueless mermaid. She’s just that good on playing roles that doesn’t have any calmness to it; and more like crazy and freeing women who knows no boundaries. Although her emotional acting was very much in good quality, as well. And because of this very fact, both her costars couldn’t have the equal amount of spotlight, mostly because the characterization for her character (and how she added flavor to that) is much stronger compared to what could be expected from the male leads who, most of the time, don’t share similar traits like hers. I still say that Kim Soo-hyun’s performances on ywcfts are definitely good enough to pair up with Jun Ji-hyun, but I couldn’t say that he’s on his best role despite it prolly being one of his widely known ones.
On this show, Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin could be said on a similar level for acting capability. Though Son Ye-jin wins out more because of the scriptwriter’s tendency on making her female lead stood out due to their strong characterization, it worked okay because Hyun Bin does match her energy and it just contributed to the fact that he’s a visually good looking actor but still manage to be very damn good at acting as well. And it’s rare to see actors like that on dramaland, you know. Most of widely popular actors seems to stick on one role and never grows from that, but despite his flopped works (yes I’m still bitter on how ineffectiively used he was on Hyde Jekyll and Me) before he started to hit big again after Memoir of Alhambra, ones that had paid attention to his works would know that Hyun Bin, is indeed, good at acting, especially on showcasing his detailed expressions added to the role he’s given. His performances on Secret Garden still awes me to no end, and I’m happy to see that powerful raw acting capability again while he potrayed Ri Jeong-hyeok in this show.
And Son Ye-jin?This show is just another valid proof that she’s more than a “Melo Queen” people seems to have loved her for. The bratty, spoiled and even brazen acting she’s showed on the drama was incredibly well-acted. Her chemistry with her co-stars were fantastic. Of course, I shouldn’t have to say anything about her acting qualityㅡshe’s just THAT good.  And I love her more on roles like this; where she could  freely show off her capability as an actress on a broader spectrum, rathen than her usual melancholic roles in most of her films. I thought she was a lil bit wasted when she chose to play on Something on the Rain, so thank god she accepted the offer for this show!
And their chemistry is totally off-the-charts, fyi. I might have recently added them on my personal top list for being the most visually good looking couple I’ve ever seen on kdramas with explosive chemistry which I greatly appreciate, and YES I have seen a lot to know that their magnetic presences for each other is like no other. A lil bit biased but okaayyy.
From the leads alone, this is just an absolute must-to-watch show. It’s incredibly rare to see such good performers to helm a show on romance dramas these days. And the most suprising thing is how they doesn’t lose out to the second leads. Seo Ji-hye and Kim Jung-hyun were great on their own feet, but Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin were just so good on this show that I ALMOST couldn’t care less about the second leads. They grew on me though, and THAT ENDING HURT ME.
And the rest of the casts???Just pure goodness. Everyone has their own color, from the neighborhood moms, the clueless & silly team but still one of my favorite bits to watch, to the villainous role. Everyone’s just doing so great on their role that I couldn’t pick on anything about them. All the characters are the the life of this show. If you’re more of a character-driven drama person, you’d enjoy this immensely.
And it’s so fascinating how they could maintained the light-heartedness of the show to the very end albeit a couple of finale episodes getting so dramatic & hits more emotional beats than usual. I mean, THIS SHOW FEELS LIKE A COMICAL TYPE OF DRAMA SOMETIMES BECAUSE IT WAS THAT HILARIOUS T.T One of the best traits from Park Ji-eun’s scriptwriter, if I might add. Not to mention, the soundtracks!My favorite is Davichi’s by the way :)
.
.
.
.
I still have a lot of praises for the acting part, because it feels refreshing to see such a well-acted drama while getting so much popularity at the very same time. With dramas like Descendant of the Sun, Goblin, and more internationally well-received kdramas out there, I still find it hard to choose a drama that has leads with equal amount of respect, trust, and purely in love just as much as they are to each other like this one. Most of romance dramas heavily relies on either the woman or man to be a lil bit more in love with their respective partners, but it wasn’t the case with this one. And that is why despite my constant rant & nitpick for the show, I still consider this as one of my great watch in recent years (not that I have many that I had watched lol).
.
.
.
Watch it for you’re in for witty dialogues, constant hilarity between the characters, and explosive chemistry & well-acted performances from the leads & the rest of casts.
Do not watch it for you’re not prepared for the flaws I’ve listen down, and how this is not directed for ones that seek a realistic watch. Ultimately, Crash Landing on You is best watched if you’re not using your brain for it.

My Cheating, Amnesic Fiancé
Chapter 1: Cheater
"My blood, sweat and tears..."
It had been a spontaneous decision for you to follow when your best friend, Se-Eun, had a ticket to spare when her other friend called in sick. It was one of the most expensive seats, almost directly in front of the stage, and she didn't think she could find someone else in the last twenty minutes before the show. She was a huge fan, a type of fan to buy everything even remotely connected to the boy band - yes, even useless things like paperweights - with her biggest bias being the one and only Jeon Jungkook.
Your worst nightmare. Oh, and also - your fiancé.
Of course, she didn't know the latter part. Nobody did, or you wouldn't be standing in one of the front rows, still breathing. She only knew about you and Jungkook's long-lasting family ties, and that the two of you often celebrated holidays together. There was of course some media surrounding you and Jungkook since you were the alleged heiress of Phoenix Inc., your late grandfather's enormous international company, and he was, well, Jeon Jungkook, the "Golden Maknae", the rabbit, the "Idol that was scouted by 8 different entertainment agencies", every girl's secret wet dream - yes, you had heard it all from Se-Eun and her friends. It was too much information, to be honest.
To you, he would always be the kid who thought Legolas was the dwarf and Gimli was the elf and that the two were counting because they had some kind of problem. He would also be the kid always ignoring you during family get-togethers and who would disassemble everything you ever liked. He would be the kid who always looked away when Hye-Bin and her pets had harassed you during all of first grade to graduation.
Or at least, that's what you had thought before you had seen him on stage, live, for the first time. Suddenly, you found it hard to believe you had ever met him outside the stadium - or knew him at all.
The hair was recently dyed and cut, he probably wore more make-up than you and he donned, most likely, deliberately tight pants. He moved with the determined elegance only practice and practice and even more practice could have granted him and sang, while dancing vigorously, with more steadiness than you could have pulled off while seated. You two were the same age, 20, yet you realized numbly that he, truly and undoubtedly, had reached a prime time in his life. He wasn't a boy any longer.
And frankly, that kind of frightened you.
When the song ended, deafening screams and thunderous applauds resounded throughout the stadium. Grimacing and drilling your fingers into your ears, you watched as the lights on stage quickly dimmed, erasing the sight of Jungkook and the other six members. Just when you thought it was safe to relax, a new tune began, causing the shouting and yelling to erupt anew - especially from your right where Se-Eun and her friends Min-Ji and Yeon-Woo stood. You didn't understand what was happening - not until a spotlight centered on the middle of the stage, illuminating the shape of one person.
Jungkook raised a microphone to his lips and began singing.
"The fifteen-year-old me who didn't have anything..."
You simply stared. During his whole performance, you were as spellbound. There was such passion, such emotion in his voice and his face - even the slightest movements of his fingers when they sometimes flexed and relaxed around the microphone intrigued you.
Mostly, because it shocked you.
During your whole life while growing up together, he had never exhibited any particular emotion at all. He was mostly stiff or quiet or even sardonic. But at that moment, dancing and singing on stage, he was as vulnerable as he had ever been.
You had only witnessed such exposure once.
He finished the song with a few lasting tones and a final dance move to match the beat. The lights had dimmed, yet you discerned in the darkness his wiry outline against the backdrop. You stared in wonder, taking in the sensual curl of his lips, his semi-lidded eyes and the sweat trickling down his temples and neck. You fleetingly spotted the boy who once had too large of a nose to match his face, but that image was quickly replaced by the man you and the ten thousand other pairs of eyes could see.
He was beautiful.
By the end of the concert, you were almost deaf. Se-Eun, Min-Ji and Yeon-Woo had tears streaming down their faces and they were hoarse from screaming. They had filmed the whole concert on Min-Ji's ridiculously expensive camera, and when you finally had exited the stadium, they were frantically looking for the moment one of the seven members - you think his name was Jin - had blown them a kiss from stage during one of the songs. The three of them shared a YouTube-channel completely dedicated to the group and were already discussing editing, whose Internet they would torture by uploading the whole concert and so on and so forth.
You exhaled out loudly. The screen of your phone said 22:34. You could still call for your parents' driver, but you didn't want to make a scene. There were still a ton of people pooling out of the exit area and who knew if they recognized you. Although you were dressed very casually, you didn't doubt some of the bystanders would put together two and two if they saw a girl your age exiting a BTS concert and entering a really nice car with a private driver. You didn't need more media covering your involvement with Jungkook, even though you two actually were engaged.
That was one of the conditions Jungkook very clearly had established in the beginning.
You glanced at your best friend. "Se-Eun, I thought you said you were calling your mom."
Se-Eun looked up from the camera and smiled sheepishly. The orange of a streetlight overhead made her brown eyes glint and her light brown-colored hair coppery. "I will, I just have to look at him again." She quirked her brow. "I cannot believe you've never been to one of their concerts before. I thought your parents and his were tight like this." She held up two fingers and crossed them together.
"They are," you said reluctantly. "Doesn't mean he and I are, though. He has no reason to make me come to the concert."
In fact, Jungkook had often tried to make you stay away from them. He had said it was nothing particular and that the shows often malfunctioned due to sloppiness and technical error. He had even claimed they didn't really care for their fans and that it was very strained and awkward to look at them perform. Actually, thinking about it, you found it very suspicious considering how the concert had progressed. Sure they had started everything very dolled-up in make-up and expensive clothes, but they had continuously had interludes in which they spoke to the audience and thanked them and one another, and the show had ended with them simply wearing t-shirts - albeit with their own logo on them - and holding a microphone. It had all felt very genuine by the end, and until then, the production value had been surprisingly high, with great audio, lights, scenes that could rise and fall and much more.
"Still," said Se-Eun. "It's just odd considering your relationship."
"It is," you admitted. Jungkook could be rude - really, really rude - but you had never taken him for a liar. "Perhaps I should ask him why he hasn't invited me before."
At this, Min-Ji and Yeon-Woo stopped their fiddling on the camera options. "How? Oh God, do you have his number?" they almost screamed in unison.
You were tempted to punch one of them when you saw some girls turn to look at why they had shouted. Se-Eun quickly calmed all three of you down.
"Hush, you two. Still, do you?" Se-Eun asked incredulously.
"No," you said with a snort. "But I'll just go backstage or whatever and find him."
For a moment, the three of them were quiet. But then they opened their mouths and roared in laughter.
"What?" you asked.
"Good luck getting past the security guards," Min-Ji said, her voice short of breath. "I mean, truly. Good luck."
"Yeah, it's not like other people have tried it," Yeon-Woo laughed. "Not at all."
You frowned. "I'll just tell the sec I'm friends with one of the members."
"Guys," Se-Eun said after they had another assault from the invisible laughter fairy that obviously was missing you with her wand. "I-I don't think she gets it."
You crossed your arms. "Obviously, I don't."
"It's okay," Min-Ji said. "Just let her go. It's funnier that way."
"Good idea," Yeon-Woo said. "(Y/N), we'll be waiting here, don't worry."
Se-Eun was still giggling as she spoke. "It's useless," she told you. "Think about how many times fans try to get backstage, lying that they're cousins or something. You would be just another one among thousands of crazy people. Besides," she added a little more quietly, just for you to hear, "the media will get hold of it, someway or another. How many times don't you complain that you wish you could change lives with someone else?"
That was a valid point. But Min-Ji and Yeon-Woo had wounded your pride and now you almost felt like you had to prove them wrong.
"Yes, but since I can't, I might just as well just live with it," you replied as you turned around and began away from the girls. "I'll be back in a bit."
"Fighting!" one said sarcastically, causing all three of them to laugh.
You would show them. Deciding it best not to sound like a typical stalker-fan, you came up with a lie. It wasn't too difficult convincing one of the guards at the exit area to let you in to try and find your lost keys. He followed you, and as you pretended to search, you kept an eye open for any kind of backstage signs. There were some cleaners that already had begun and some other people with ID-cards dangling from their necks walking around to check cables, but other than that, the stadium was empty and you couldn't exactly ask one of them where the artists were.
"I might have dropped them in the women's bathroom," you told the guard after a minute or two of fruitless conversation with the cleaners.
He nodded. "Let's check there."
Fortunately, you had visited the bathrooms before the concert began, which were next to a set of sturdy-looking, gray metal doors. You knew they were locked for Min-Ji had tried pulling at them to no avail. However, your last shot was to somehow find Jungkook on his way out of the stadium, and perhaps those doors were the way out of backstage. You knew that was a thought bordering on irrational, but your pride was still wounded and you thought you might as well give it a shot.
You didn't see Jungkook on the way and the doors were just as shut and probably locked as they were before. Disheartened, you entered the women's bathroom, casting one last look at the gray doors.
Someone was occupying one of the booths. You went to the sink to wash your hands, to have something to do while you were feeling gradually more embarrassed. Your keys burned in the chest pocket of your jacket, so at least that lie would have a happy ending.
Through the mirror, you spotted a short girl with a brown curly bob exiting the booth behind your sink. At first, you didn't understand why you felt like something was odd with her, but then you realized it.
And your stomach dropped to the floor.
It was Park Yi-Jae, idol and the leader of one of the hottest female girl groups at the moment. Pretty as the moon with a voice like silk and a bright, optimistic personality and a smile that could melt iron. Everyone had heard of her. She was gaining popularity faster than Suzy had thanks to the drama "Of Smoke and Mirrors" and you knew she was becoming a major "It"-icon in China.
Not only was Park Yi-Jae in the bathroom in a stadium where BTS just had performed. She was wearing Jungkook's jacket - and no, not the one he had donned on stage, but the one private he had worn during your family's joint celebration of the Chinese New Year almost a month ago. And the most telling of them all, she was wearing the necklace you had bought him for his graduation.
That son of a bitch was cheating on you.

December Wrap Up
Wow. It has been a whole twelve months since we have started this blog and now we are on the final, official post of the year! A mega-post compiling the top songs of the past year, as well as official departures and disbandments of groups from 2019, will be up on our main blog @kpopsunbae (make sure to go and follow us there for more content, although it will be quite a bit different than what we put on this blog).
As some of you may know, this blog (as well as the previous one, @kpopotd) are project blogs that end once the year is done. This means that while we will no longer post on this blog it will remain as an archive. We will however be back with a third blog in the future as a continuation of this blog (it will cover 2016 and onwards!). This does not mean that we will go completely off grid once 2019 is done though!
This coming year of 2020 has a lot in store for us, your K-Pop Sunbaes! We currently have a website to overhaul, an Instagram to properly launch, and of course we will continue releasing podcast episodes! Remember to follow us on Twitter too, our handle there is @kpopsunbaes (updates will be on there and you can interact with us too!).
On a final note, we are so appreciative for the love that you all have given this blog over the past year. It has been such a fun experience and the three of us have had a blast working together on the blog, having meetings, and eventually completing just under 900 posts. We hope you will continue to support and follow us in our upcoming endeavors. We wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Fireball (M)
Tumblr media
Hoseok smut (one shot)
Both the demise and blessing of your night, with fireball coursing through your veins you find it hard to resist those eyes staring at you from across the room.
Warning: Smut, public sex, drinking, oral (both receiving)
Word Count: 6,281
This idea has been in the back of my mind for a while, but a lot of inspiration came from the feelings I got from watching this
“Oh come on _____ you gotta let loose in some way… PLUS it’s not like you have any other plans for tonight do you?” Actually, you did. Although some might not call the half finished bottle of Chardonnay and Step Up DVD Rental much in regards to importance, for you however, it certainly takes the cake when compared to being surrounded by intoxicated sweaty limbs that tend to wander to places you’d rather not have them go. This tends to be most cases of course, every now and then you actually enjoyed the night but of course you were always in the mood then... unlike now.
“Sung Hee I am just not feeling it right now. I’m going to take a rain check and we can go next Saturday instead yeah?” You look up at the brunette seated across from you, now exhibiting a glint in her eye… uh-oh, you sigh and slouch your head in defeat. You wait for the next thing to leave her mouth, knowing that whatever it was would leave you with no choice but to follow her throughout whatever she had planned tonight.
“Awww, but I already told my dad that we were going to go! He said he wanted me to get along with my seniors, I guess I will just have to tell him that you weren’t up to-”
“Alright fine” you groan, flattening out your pencil skirt while getting out of your chair. She gets up and follows you as you empty out your tray in the trash bin.
“Fine what? If you really aren’t up to it I can just explain-” , “Fine let’s go to whatever place you had in mind” you say through gritted teeth. Sung Hee’s face breaks into a smile and she does a little dance causing you to roll your eyes. You continue to walk towards your office, cursing at your luck. If only it wasn’t you who she had chosen to entertain her power with. With her dad being one of the higher ups in your company it was no surprise that everyone else sucked up to her, being nice enough as to even do some of her job for her. Everyone else except you, whom had decided to stay as far away from her as possible. It was this exact reason however, that she fixed herself to your side and tested her limits so as to keep herself amused.
“Well you see there is this place called Eclipse that just opened on-”
“Cool, I will meet you there” you interrupt, not wanting to waste more time than had already been given. “What time did you want to meet up?” you turn around and face her head on suddenly causing her to stumble backwards. A brief flash of fear flashes in her eyes and at this you lean backwards awaiting her response.
“How about you pick me up at 9 pm, I will text you the address. Bye ____, thanks for having lunch with me, see you later!” Sung Hee quips and turns around, walking down the hall.
You glare in annoyance at the oversway of her hips as she passes her male coworkers. She isn’t exactly the most celibate individual, in fact you had overheard several times from the male coworkers about how good she was at this or that. You never really cared for this information knowing that it could all be talk. You realized soon after that at least some of it had to be true since you had caught her having sex at least four times in the conference room. Each time it was with someone different and you have yet to hear from someone at the company who has not “had their way with her” to put it in their words. Even with all of that, she still managed to seem a little fearful of you. You turn around and smirk, if only she feared you enough to leave you alone. Shaking your head you open your door and enter your office.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Getting home later that day, you groan and throw yourself back onto your bed. Lifting your wrist to your eye level, you find your watch notifying you that you roughly had an hour and forty five minutes until your impending doom. You get up and begin undressing, getting into the shower after you put on your playlist. You calm almost instantly as the music blends with the falling water. Running your fingers through your hair you begin to massage your scalp and sigh as your body relaxes. You wash away the feeling of filth that has collected throughout the day, feeling fully refreshed at the end. You exit the shower while grabbing a towel and begin to dry your body. You open the door allowing the steam that has accumulated in the bathroom to spill out towards your room before making your way to your clothes.
Looking through your closet you find that you don’t even have the slightest idea as to what to wear. It’s not like you knew whether or not she had selected somewhere fancy or more casual. As if almost on cue, your phone dings from the other side of the room. You open it and roll your eyes at what Sung Hee has sent you.
Sent from: Sung Hee             8:03 PM
Here is my address! Make sure to wear something that shows some skin, I still have a reputation to uphold.
Delivered to: Sung Hee          8:04 PM
K, see you soon
You respond and throw your phone onto the foot of your bed before turning around to face your closet. You approach the end where you keep your favorite black dress, pulling it out to admire it in the mirror. You grab your red pumps and make your way to your bathroom. Proceeding to get ready, it doesn’t take long until you find yourself glancing at the clock and find it time to leave. Grabbing your things, you leave your apartment and call the first cab you see. After giving them Sung Hee’s address you notify her that you have left. Staring out the window you find yourself lost in thought as you stare at the stars. You almost don’t even notice the cab stop until a sudden chill gets sent throughout the cab with the opening of the door.
“It took you long enough ____” Sung Hee states, shutting the door behind her. She turns and takes in your appearance “well at least you dressed nicely.” At this you scoff and take in her appearance. She’s wearing a white cocktail dress that rises up so high you see the black lace adorning her hip. Her attention is fixed on the reflection in her mirror as she fixes her makeup, gasping when the cab reaches a speed bump almost causing her to ruin her entire look. A chuckle makes its way out of your mouth and you quickly turn it into a coughing fit when her eyes begin to shoot daggers at you.
“______ have you ever hooked up with anyone at the office?” she asks, beginning to apply her lipstick. At this you shift uncomfortably in your seat, unsure as to where to begin so that the conversation ends quickly.
“Uh-uhm no, why?” you fiddle with your fingers as she turns to look at you in almost shock.
“Really? Like you haven’t thought about it at all?” she pushes, leaning towards you with a almost piercing gaze, searching for any indication that you were lying. You proceed to shake your head, meeting her gaze straight on. She shrugs, fixated back to her mirror and proceeds to clean any overlap she has created with her application.
“Well maybe you should consider it, I mean some of those guys really know what their doing.” she blows a kiss to her pocket mirror before closing it and placing it back into her bag.
“Yeah?” You raise one of your brows at her. “Like who?” you question, curious as to who could possibly be that good that she was recommending that you sleep with them.
“Well for one there’s Dae Hee, Eun Soo, oh, even Sung Ki! well... I guess they are all good, but maybe you should try with Tae Song first since he’d probably be the best first lay” She taps her fingers against her puckered lips in thought, tilting her head slightly as she stares at the roof of the cab. Seeing your opportunity, you take the chance to ask the one question that had made its way to the back of your mind, itching to make its appearance in the conversation.
“Um, not that it is really any of my business and I don’t mean this with any condescending manner... but you used protection when hooking up with them right?” you take in her reaction and turn your attention out the window when she tilts her head questioningly. Oh god, she knew what protection was right? She had to...
“Protection? What do you mean, like mace or pepper spray? Haha you’re silly _____ why would I use that?” At this you shake your head and face palm. You massage your temple before starting to open your mouth, ready to begin your speech on safe sex practices and their importance. Before you can even start however, she begins speaking once again.
“Oh you mean like protection like condoms and stuff?” she chuckles and places her hand on your shoulder as if you were held out on some big secret that would change your life.
“Oh _____, as long as they pull out in time that’s all that matters” your brow furrows in concern as you pull her hand away from your shoulder. You realize that she is only thinking about pregnancy.
“That’s not it-” you begin only to be cut off by the cab driver.
“Here we are” the car slows down, indicating for you to gather your stuff and pay him what’s due. Sung Hee gets out almost immediately after he stops and you throw the fare in his hand before racing after her.
You catch up to her right as she is about to enter, the bouncer giving you a onceover and nodding his head in approval. You grab onto her arm as she twines her way through the crowd of people that have accumulated in the hallway entrance. You step into a big room and instantly let go of Sung Hee, jaw dropping in amazement at the interior of what seemed to be a small building. You certainly had not expected there to be enough room for a balcony, let alone the huge stage they had towards the back of the venue. You spin around, taking in the supporting Tuscan style columns. Pretty classy for a club setting you think, and even then the flashing lights don’t seem out of place. The slight discoloration is doing wonders when placed against the mass of sweaty bodies located on the dancefloor. It almost seems inviting to you and that’s saying a lot.
You spot the bar and walk towards it, finding a stool with no one sitting beside it. You might have found this strange, but after seeing the amounts of booths located upstairs you find it hard to believe that groups of people would rather sit at the bar. You call the bartender over and ask for a shot of tequila, downing it quickly before turning to see if you can spot Sung Hee. Scanning through the crowd you curse at the amount of people that decided to go out in white attire. You almost give up, ready to order another shot before your eyes fixate on someone across the room.
What catches your eye first is not the bright red blazer that adorns his black and white striped button up, but the red colored hair that he runs his fingers through. Although dull in comparison to his blazer, his red hair is flattering against his glowing skin. His sharp features are very attractive and you find yourself shifting in your chair as he brushes his hair back. Your eyes trail down, eyeing the slits that trail dangerously high towards his hip. The tight material does little to mask the tight muscle that flexes as he adjusts his position against the wall. With the sudden movement, your eyes flash back up to his face and you freeze. His gaze pierces yours causing your eyes widen, turning back to face the bar and asking the bartender for three shots of fireball. It’s not like you particularly liked cinnamon flavored whisky, you just wanted to prepare yourself for the slow burn of the night ahead of you.
The first shot burns your throat, depraved from the pleasuring tingles that normally ensue after it makes its way down. You still end up smiling as the warm feeling stays in your chest instead. Glancing around again, you choke on air the moment you find him still staring at you. He licks his lips wickedly and at this you sit up straight, quickly becoming distracted by the glow of your phone. You frown as you notice it’s not anything of importance. Clearing your throat you check your other notifications before placing it back in front of you. The hairs on your arms raise as you sense someone standing behind you. Smirking slightly, you think that maybe he couldn’t stay away after all.
“Jiho’s the name, going home with you tonight is the game” You turn, expecting to see the red head but frown at the sight of tall, built individual with several tattoos adorning his biceps. With the amount of muscle protruding against his polo, you find it hard to believe that he isn’t flexing right now as a means to impress you. When you meet his eyes he smirks and eyes you up and down prompting you to scoff and once again face the bar. This night could not possibly get any worse. “Alright alright, even I admit that that one was a bit too much,” he muses adjusting his pants, “I’m sorry babe but I saw you from across the room and wanted to hear what your voice sounded like. You look absolutely gorgeous by the way, did you come here alone?” Rolling your eyes you massage your forehead before responding.
“Listen boy, if you’re going to talk so much you might as well go chat up that pole over there, I’m sure that it’s tired of only listening to the music.” You nod towards the column that currently supports not only the building structure but a pair of individuals that hold no concern for any wandering eyes that stumble upon their groping forms. At this he chuckles and takes the seat at the bar next to you.
“Alright listen, I don’t really care if you end up going home with me or not but I really just want to dance with you at least once before you end up leaving tonight. How does that sound babe?” You eye him from the corner of your eye as you down your second shot of fireball, grimacing at the burn that makes its way down your throat. You go to grab your third shot and scowl when you find it in his hand, gasping as he quickly downs it and turns to the dancefloor. He quickly faces you again before getting off the stool. “Well if you change your mind I’ll be over there” he signifies by jabbing the air behind him with his thumb.
You shoot a glare and turn back towards the bar signaling the bartender over once again. “Fucking prick” you mutter under your breath, waiting for your turn. As he makes his way towards you, you catch a blur of red out of the corner of your eye and as you open your mouth to order another shot another voice makes its way across the counter to the bartenders ears first.
“Two more shots of what she was drinking please” at this the bartender nods and grabs two shots, serving them quickly before turning his attention elsewhere. Your mouth opens slightly at the sight of the redhead beside you. Your eyes follow his hand as he grabs one of the shots, placing it in front of you.
“What kind of dick takes someone else’s drink? I mean even if you’re friends you still gotta ask don’t you?” You meet his eyes finding them amused with your expression. You giggle and shake your head. Taking your shot glass into your hand you offer to clink it against his. He raises his and the clink of your glasses seems to echo in your ears as you lock eyes. You both bring the glasses up to your lips and knock back the liquor in record time. You find yourself entranced by his gaze and follow the trail of liquor that makes its way down the side of the shot glass and onto his thumb. He brings it up to his mouth and sucks the liquid softly into his mouth while observing your reactions. He smirks at you and only then do you break eye contact, choosing instead to stare at the wall of alcohol before you as your face flushes. You find heat pooling in places that leave you cursing at how good he smells at this proximity. Clearing your throat you face him once again, glancing at his lips briefly before meeting his eyes once again “and what’s your name?”
“Hoseok, and yours?” he leans forward creating a fluttering feeling. “It, it’s ___” you manage to stutter before signaling the bartender to get you some water.
“Well ____, if I didn’t know any better I would guess that not only did you not want to be here to begin with, but that asshole didn’t do much to make your night any better did he?” he nods his head towards the dancefloor where you spot the guy from earlier now dancing with another girl.
“What makes you say that?” you glance downwards, sipping on the water that is placed in front of you.
“The friend you came with left you almost immediately, and for the past hour you have been glancing at your phone non stop” you almost choke on your water. Looking into his eyes you search for any indication that he’s lying but you find nothing but a hint of teasing.
“Haha quiet the creeper aren’t you?” you chuckle, raising your brow at him expecting him to shift uncomfortably in his seat.
Instead, he leans forward, voice dropping an octave lower.
“Ehh, I’d call it more so observant,” he leans forward more, whispering in your ear “then again only in what I want to be.” A shiver is sent down your spine and you squeeze your thighs together. This only minimally soothes the ache that has formed between your legs. Only growing with the almost sinful way he sits back in his chair and gazes at you. Not at your figure, but you yourself as if he already knows what you look like underneath your clothes. As if he has already had his way with you before and he’s hungry for more.
“and what would that be?” you whisper, suddenly feeling as if the air is too thick to breathe. Biting your lip you find that his gaze follows this action causing your breath to get caught in your throat. He opens his mouth and you find yourself slightly leaning forward, eyes attentive on his lips as he licks them before using them to form words.
“Well-”
“____ there you are! Why aren’t you out there dancing? There’s this hot guy and… oh, who’s this?”  Sung Hee’s voice rings behind you. Whatever held you so close to Hoseok snaps and you turn immediately to find the brunette eyeing Hoseok with fluttering eyes while twirling a piece of her hair around her finger. Sung Hee then brushes her hair back bringing a scoff from your mouth as you see just how much cleavage she shows, how typical.
“Hoseok” he says shifting in his seat, sitting up straight. “You must be here with ____ right?” he glances between the both of you as she comes closer to his proximity.
“Well we came here together… but it doesn’t mean we have to go home together either” she says trailing her finger down the broad expanse of his chest. You roll your eyes and call for the bartender, lifting up two fingers to indicate two more shots.
“How about you come dance with me Hoseok, it doesn’t look like ____ is planning to leave that bar stool of hers any time soon” At this you glance at him from the corner of your eyes before downing the amber liquid. He stares at you for what feels like minutes but is probably just a solid couple of seconds before he is pulled away towards the dance floor. You turn, following them with your eyes as they bore holes at the back of Sung Hee’s head. Clenching your jaw you take out your phone and try to distract yourself by looking through your social media. To no avail you find yourself stealing looks at where Sung Hee presses her back into Hoseok as he holds her hips.
Not even noticing when it happens, you find yourself staring at their forms, cursing Sung Hee for deciding to take the one enjoyment of the night you had thus far. You get lost your thoughts as you imagine how things might have ended had she not came back to find you. Had she not just left with someone else you would have gladly allowed yourself to be put at his mercy. Your stomach churns in anticipation as you imagine the way he’d kiss you, the way he’d take off your dress, at the way he would start to kiss his way down your neck making his way to where you wanted him most. You break out of your thoughts as he turns back to find you staring. At this he smirks and turns. Finding yourself no longer facing his back you instead stare at their sides as he tightens his grip on her hips. Sung Hee raises her arms, wrapping them around his neck as she becomes more engrossed in their dancing. Hoseok holds your gaze and then just slightly he begins to move his hips into her, her head falling back against his shoulder as she smiles. If you hadn’t already been staring you wouldn’t have noticed the action, but you cursed your own fate. You bet she feels so ecstatic right now, she must be feeling so lucky to be dancing with someone who moves his hips so sinfully. He begins to run his fingers down her hips, trailing them across her thighs before inching them back up, wrapping them across her middle.
Breaking the gaze, you take your last shot before making your way towards the dancefloor making sure to sway your hips as you do so. Spotting the guy from earlier, you show no hesitance in tapping his shoulder. He turns from the girl he is currently dancing with and smirks eyeing you up and down once again. You cross your arms and turn annoyed as he dismisses the girl, pushing her towards the bar with some cash. She huffs and stalks off  but not before giving you a dirty look.
“Joowon right? I think that it’s time for that dance you wanted” you walk towards him, wrapping your arms around his neck as you push your body flush against him. You begin to sway your hips against his and glance around, only stopping when you lock eyes with Hoseok. You smirk as he eyes the way you begin to roll your body. A grimace makes its way onto your face at the feeling of this guys hands making their way to your ass. At this you turn around, pushing your back against his chest as he places his hands on your hips. You sway your hips in a circular motion, paying specific attention to the way you push them back towards his crotch. At this he groans and you glance up at Hoseok who is now eyeing your temporary partner with venomous eyes. You raise your brow at him when you lock eyes and then proceed to close your eyes when you feel lips tracing your neck. You pretend that instead of this prick, its Hoseok. That it’s his fingers wrapping themselves against your hips just how they would while taking you from behind. You open your eyes, glancing to where Hoseok and Sung Hee are now locking lips. This cracks the facade you find yourself in and you break away from Joowon or whatever his name is, muttering an apology as you fix your dress back in place.
Walking towards them you catch Hoseok’s eye as he pulls away briefly. “Hey Sung Hee, can I borrow Hoseok for a second?” you tap on her shoulder. She turns and looks at you confused “Oh _____, what do you want?”
“Hoseok” you repeat, sneaking a glance at him as he eyes you curiously. Apparently only Sung Hee remains oblivious to the double meaning of your confession because she is not reluctant in her dismissal. She heads towards the direction of the bar stating that she needed another drink anyways. Knowing her she probably thinks that you aren’t a threat, that you stand no chance with the redhead who now currently stands attentive to you.
Grabbing his hand, you pull him behind you as you make your way towards the bathroom. Opening the door you make sure no one else is inside before pulling him in and locking it behind you. Facing the mirror, you bring your eyes to meet his gaze.
“Are you going to take her home?” you spit out, slowing down your words as you continue “she’s not what you think she is, and I wanted to warn you that you’ll probably end up catching some sort of disease from sleeping with her.” A chuckle is released as exchanges looks with you.
“Why do you care?” he questions, brows raising in expectation.
“I don’t” you reply almost immediately, turning to face him head on. He walks forward, hands reaching towards your hips only to brush against them slightly as he places them on the sink behind you. Your body tingles where he touched you, a whimper escaping your lips as he smiles smugly at your response. You glower at him, cursing the heat that begins to pool at his proximity.
“Is that so? It didn’t seem that way when you started to dance with asshat over there” he hisses, pulling your body towards his. You gasp, hands placed against his chest you begin to fist the fabric of his button up as he firmly grabs your hips. You smirk at him, feeling his bulge through his pants.
“I don’t know what you are talking about” you whisper pulling him down by his blazer and meeting his lips with yours. A fire ignites its way throughout your body as he growls, pulling you closer before beginning to tangle his tongue with yours. You moan as he palms at your ass, massaging it with his hands before pulling you up to sit on the sink counter. You whimper as he leaves open kisses down your neck, pushing the sleeves of your dress down so as to have better access to your cleavage. Hoseok hikes your dress up, exposing the fact that you had decided to not wear underwear that night. Noticing this Hoseok chuckles and nudges your legs apart with his knees. You gasp at the sudden rush of cold air against your throbbing cunt. He pecks your lips one, two more times before getting on his knees before you. His eyes lock against your center as he removes his blazer, tossing it to the side.
“Holy shit, you’re this wet already?” he asks, dragging his finger through your slickness. You watch as he places it into his mouth, swirling his tongue around it before releasing it with a pop that seems to send an electric current throughout your nerves. His gaze darkens, looking hungrily at the mess that has accumulated between your legs.
“I’ve been wet since you- fuck!” you gasp out against the feeling of him licking a stripe up your center. He chuckles and pulls back waiting for you to continue, your arousal coating his lips in a sleek shine. “Sin-since before we were interrupted by my shitty coworker” you finish, closing your eyes at the feeling of his mouth against your core once again. He proceeds to tongue at your center and then moves up, circling your clit as he begins to massage your thighs. You cry out as he sucks on your clit the same time he enters a finger. He begins to pump in and out of you while he makes his way back up to your mouth. You grab at your zipper, pulling it down and allowing your dress to pool at your hips. You bite his lip softly, letting it go as he pulls back. His eyes trail down, a groan leaving his throat at the sight of the barely there white lace being the only thing shielding your hardened nipples from the cold. Leaning forwards, he mouths over one of your nipples and you arch into his hold, crying out as he massages your other breast in his hand. He quickly becomes impatient and pulls down the straps, placing open mouthed kisses across your chest. He proceeds to leave love bites, causing you to whimper as his thumb begins to circle your clit. You moan, wrapping your arms around his head, keeping him in place as you struggle to hold onto your sanity. Just when you start to feel your stomach tighten, he adds another finger causing you to gasp out, cursing at the sensation of him reaching new depth. You feel as though you are about to combust, body shaking as you sense yourself reaching your peak.
“Ho-Hoseok, please” you whisper in his ear, pushing him away desperately. He whines softly, pulling away from your neck as he catches his breathe. You step down from the sink counter and slip your dress off, allowing it to fall onto the ground.
Falling to your knees, you begin to undo his belt as he runs his hand through his hair. You unzip his pants and he grabs your hand, leading it to palm against his hardness. You whimper softly at the feeling of him, precum seeping through his briefs. He leans his head backwards as you continue to palm him. You glance up and proceed to pull down his briefs. His cock springs out and your mouth emits a gasp, the length of his cock making your mouth water. You reach forward and take him into your hand, stroking him twice in order to take in his reaction. He bites his lip and you lick a stripe up his length, stopping at the head before bringing it into your mouth. You moan at the heavy feeling of it against your tongue, swirling around the head of his cock before pulling back. You kitten lick the tip and motion for him to remove his shirt. He begins unbuttoning right as you sink your mouth down his length. He curses, hand moving and twining itself in your hair. You chuckle and his cock twitches at the vibrations. Pulling back you allow him to finish taking of his shirt while you softly mouth the side. You sink your mouth down his length once more, bobbing your head up and down at a steady pace as your hands travel across his abdomen. When your eyes meet his hooded gaze he groans “Fuck ___ you’re unreal you know that? You’re driving me crazy”
Your fingers begin to trail the outlines of his abs as his breathing stutters. You pull back, stroking him at a slower pace as you lean up, licking along his abs before standing up and meeting his lips with yours. Pulling back, you tug at his length a little harder. “I know, now why don’t you get on with it and fuck me already?” you whisper provoking him even further. He growls, lifting you back onto the counter before pulling out a condom from the front pocket of his blazer. Rolling it on, he positions himself at your entrance as you grip his shoulders preparing yourself to the best of your ability.
“Are you ready?” He pants, observing your expression and searching for any indication that you didn’t want this anymore. You nod, pulling him into a deep kiss as he begins to move his hips forward. He inches his way slowly, pushing all the way in until he bottoms out. You moan at the filling sensation that temporarily satisfies the ache in your core. Catching your breath you begin to roll your hips causing him to pull back and begin thrusting into you at a steady pace. Gasps begin to fall from your mouth as he grips your hips in place. Swallowing the small whimpers that leave your lips, Hoseok entangles his lips with yours groaning at the feeling of your bare chests against each other. He begins to thrust into you at a faster pace as you feel the coil in your core start to tighten. “Fuck fuck Hoseok, Hoseok ah, I can’t… fu-fuck” you cry out, scratching his back as you graze your fingers down.
“No, you don’t get to come just yet” he grunts and pulls out, turning you so that you face the mirror before you. You wince at the cold feeling of the marble as he pushes your chest down flat against it. Lifting your chin, he leads you to meet his eyes through the reflection.
“I want you to watch, watch just how well your pretty little cunt takes my cock” he snarls, pulling back just until his tip his left inside of you before slamming back into you. You cry out, reaching to hold on anything, whimpering when you find nothing to help you keep you stable. You watch, eyes locking onto his as the slapping of his thighs meeting your ass echoes around you. You struggle to catch your breath, taking each thrust one at a time. He trails his hand down your front, stopping at your clit before beginning to send you over the edge. You fist your hands feeling at your wits end, fingernails indenting little moons into your palm. At the feeling of the coil snapping you scream out his name. He slows down, riding you through your orgasm as you pulse around his length. Your body begins to shudder in overstimulation and you sob as he continues his relentless attack on your mound. Grabbing his hand, you pull it up to your breast encouraging him to grasp it into his hand. He plays with it as you begin to push your hips back into his at a faster rate. You squeeze around him as his hips begin to stutter. “Shit ___, fuck” he groans spilling his load into the condom. He thrusts into you shallowly and you collapse against the counter while trying to gather your breath. Hoseok pulls out and disposes of the condom before pulling up his briefs. Moving your hair out of your face he leans forward and places a gentle kiss against your cheek.
“You were so good babe” he says sincerely, moving back to finish fixing his pants. He grabs a couple of paper towels and wets them in the sink beside you. He reaches for your hip and gently taps your thigh so that you open your legs. You smile tiredly and allow him to clean you up, gasping at the sudden coldness and wincing at the sensitivity that ensues from his actions. “Sorry babe, I think that’s as good as it’s going to be for now” he muses, tossing them into the trash. He grabs your dress and hands it to you, checking to make sure that you are able to dress yourself. Your legs almost give out from under you but you manage to place it back on. Turning to the mirror you begin to fix your disheveled hair and sigh at the sight of your now faded lipstick.
“Well what now babe?” he asks, buttoning his shirt up. You eye him questioningly through the mirror and chuckle, shaking your head in disbelief. He wanted more? Well it’s not like you had any problems with that, if only Sung Hee could see you now. You turn to face him “The club is going to close soon isn’t it?” You both know that there were still about 2 hours until closing time but that didn’t stop you from wanting to leave. At this he only smirks, leaning in towards you to whisper into the shell of your ear.
“Well… who says the night has to end here? Why don’t we head back to mine? It’s not like your shitty coworker is going to notice that you left.”
You nod before leaning up to peck his lips. He smiles in satisfaction as he grabs his blazer before unlocking the door.
Leaving the bathroom, Hoseok grabs your hand and leads you through the crowd. You don’t know what you just signed yourself up for, but boy you could not be more anxious to find out.
Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you enjoy this. There will not be a sequel.
Gay Characters in Kdramas: The Good, The Bad, and The Mediocre
Gay characters rarely show up in Korean dramas. Though there have been a few characters over the years,  In terms of representation, the characterization and stories of these characters are usually nothing to write home about, but I figured, why not write about it anyway? Here’s my watch and don’t watch list, if you’re looking for gay characters in kdramas.
Warning for spoilers galore!
The Mediocre (these aren’t bad, but they’re not the best either)
Lily Fever (2015)
Tumblr media
The Story: Kyung Ju heads to her friends house one day to find her missing passport. She finds Se Rang instead.
Should You Watch?: Sure. This show is quirky and just downright odd. The ending leaves a lot to be desired and the story itself is kind of all over the place, but it’s cute, it’s funny, it’s short, most of it’s nonsense, and the girls have lots of chemistry. It’s only a bonus that Se Rang is a standout character of this show. You’ll probably fall for her yourself by the end of the webseries.
The Lover: Joon Jae and Takuya (2015)
Tumblr media
The Story: Different couples live together in an apartment building. The show shows us snippets of their lives. Joon Jae’s life gets turned upside down when he meets his new roommate Takuya.
Should You Watch?: Hmmm...yeah. I started watching this show expecting it would showcase the typical Korean bromance between the guys. The kind where the show makes it seem like the guys might have feelings for each other, but the show just skirts around the topic entirely. In the first few episodes, that’s exactly what happened between Joon Jae and Takuya (with a lot of sex jokes and penis jokes thrown in for good measure. That’s actually what most of the show is). But the show eventually, actually, went there. Joon Jae and Takuya don’t get a whole lot of screen time, but when they do, we get to see some serious feelings thrown in with all the crass humor, and Joon Jae and Takuya do admit to having feelings for one another. The ending could have been a little better, but it was a happy one, so baby steps.
Perseverance Goo Hae Ra: Jang Goon (2015)
Tumblr media
The Story: A group of rag tags come together to form a band. Jang Goon joins the band and meets their manager Tae Poong who he’s had a crush on for years.
Should You Watch?: Only if you’re interested in the rest of the show. Jang Goon has a fairly interesting storyline. He has a friend who accepts him after finding out about his crush and he has to rebuild bridges with his father who doesn’t accept him doing music (and Jang Goon’s scared he wont accept his being gay either). But Jang Goon’s storyline is such a small part of the story it wouldn’t be worth it to skip through to only his parts.
Daughters of Club Bilitis (2011)
Tumblr media
The Story: A one episode drama detailing the lives of four lesbian couples.
Should You Watch?: I watched this so long ago, I honestly don’t remember a single shred of what happened in it, but I’ll say yes, watch it. Because there are so few lesbians in asian dramas you have to watch the one’s that exist. The entire show is about lesbians, so I  mean, why not?
Reply 1997: Jun Hee (2012)
Tumblr media
The Story: The lives of a group of high school students in the year1997. Jun Hee has a crush on his friend Yoon Jae.
Should You Watch?: Yes and no. The Reply Series (Reply 97/94/88) are pretty good dramas after all. They’re great for nostalgia, family, friendship, and the like, but if you’re here solely for the gay? Probably not worth the time. Jun Hee’s a side character. We see him crushing on Yoon Jae and he confesses his feelings to Yoon Jae and another friend, but there’s not too much more than that.
Seonam girls high school investigators: Eps 11-12 (2014)
Tumblr media
The Story: High School girls investigate and solve problems in their school. The show is episodic and in these two episodes the girls attempt to help Su Yeon and Eun Bin who have to hide their relationship from their classmates.
Should You Watch?: Yes. I honestly don’t remember much about this one either, but I do remember it being decently done. This show caused a lot of controversy years ago when it aired Korea’s first lesbian kiss ( probably korea’s first same sex kiss period that was a legitimate kiss and not used for laughs). It’s worth checking out to see what caused all the ridiculous uproar.
Wise Prison Life/Prison Playbook: Han Yang (2017)
Tumblr media
The Story: Big time baseball player Kim Je Hyuk turns into a crimanal overnight. After he’s convicted, he has to face his new life in prison. He meets some interesting people in prison. Among them is the drug addict Han Yang.
Should You Watch?:  Yes, because the story itself is a really interesting take about a man who goes to prison, meets a lot of different, people, and ultimately makes new friends/family. If you’re just watching for the gay? I’d still have to say yes, despite the fact that Han Yang doesn’t get the happy ending he deserved. Han Yang was one of my favorite characters in this show. I don’t know how he managed it, but I swear Han Yang got funnier as the episodes passed. I was really endeared towards him attempting to kick his drug habit while also trying to salvage his relationship with his ex-boyfriend Ji Won. He had such an interesting story arc, was such an entertaining character, and I didn’t feel like the show ever made fun of him for being gay. This character was just such a joy to watch, I definitely don’t regret watching, even though I wanted more.
Moment at Eighteen: Jung Oh Je  (2019)
Tumblr media
The Story: Transfer student Jun Woo has no interest in school life, as he is traumatized from being expelled from bullying. Meanwhile, Soo Bin has been watching Jun Woo all this time. She sees a different side to Jun Woo than the one that other people see. Oh Je, is Jun Woo’s best friend who starts to discover his sexuality.
Should you watch?: Hmmm… sure. Oh Je has a decent side plot. It was interesting to see him figuring out he liked Hwi Young and coming out to his ex girlfriend and his friends. I do wish his story was expanded a little more though. There were several things I would have liked to have seen, like coming out to his family, and I thought they wrapped his story up a little too quickly at the end.
Love with Flaws: Won Suk and Ho Dol (2019)
Tumblr media
The Story:  Joo Seo Yeon, is a hot-tempered physical education high school teacher who always wears sneakers, jeans and training uniforms.  The death of her parents helped instill a deep sense of compassion, a generous heart and an outspoken objection for anyone who drinks and drives. Living in a house with three wild and very attractive brothers, she loathes flower boys. Her ideal type is someone who is “not handsome.” Won Suk is one of her handsome older brothers.
Won Suk has closed his heart to relationships and love, but he lives his life as an openly gay man. Ho Dol is closeted and lacks confidence. They meet one night at Won Suk’s bar.
Should you watch?: People have been kind enough to condense Won Suk’s and Ho Dol’s  story into parts on YouTube so yeah, go ahead and check it out.
These two don’t get a whole lot of screen time, but the little they do get is nice. We get to see Won Seok help Ho Dol open up and be more confident with who he is and in turn, Won Seok opens up his heart.
The Bad (you probably shouldn’t waste your time on these ones)
Personal Taste: Director Choi (2010)
Tumblr media
The Story: This dramas about a straight guy who pretends to be gay in order to gain access to the blueprints of a woman’s house…or something like that. Director Choi’s specific story revolves around his attempts at courting that guy.
Should You Watch?: Absolutely not. Half of the time the drama equates being a gay man to automatically being feminine, a woman, or not a “real man”. Director Choi is also a good deal older than the male lead and makes several attempts at courting him even though he’s not interested. It kind of came off as the “creepy old gay perv” and that didn’t sit well with me.  I suppose you could skim through the drama to watch Director Choi’s scenes. If sad gay men Is your thing. I just felt bad for the guy most of the time.
Ho Gu’s Love: Kang Chul (2015)
Tumblr media
The Story: Ho Gu’s a pushover, a fool, and kind of an idiot. He meets his old classmates and things get a complicated. One day in High School Kang Chul meets Ho Gu’s twin sister and mistakes her for Ho Gu. They spend the day together and she kisses him.  The kiss sparks feelings in Kang Chul. Of course Kang Chul thinks it was Ho Gu who kissed him and years later, when he meets Ho Gu his feelings grow stronger.
Should You Watch?: Yes? Maybe? If you really want to, but mostly…no. With this, I expected that the typical drama set up would happen. Similar to all gender benders, Kang Chul would find out that it wasn’t Ho Gu he kissed. So any feelings he was having for him would immediately get swept under the rug where we could all pretend we never knew his heart fluttered for another man. Imagine my surprise when episode after episode passed and that didn’t happen. We got down to the last few episodes and Kang Chul had admitted to himself that he liked Ho Gu, he came out to his parents, and his coworkers assumed he was gay. The show was actually depicting the struggles of being gay in Korea and it was arguably one of the better storylines for a gay character on Korean t.v., but then the show couldn’t stay strong and they flipped the script. Predictably, Kang Chul finds out it was Ho Gu’s sister he kissed, the show copped out, and lo and behold Kang Chul was straight with no further mentions of any other possible sexuality. Watch it if you’re curious, but be prepared to be extremely disappointed by the end.
Graceful Family: Mo Wan Joon  (2019)
Tumblr media
The Story: Blah blah blah, revenge or something- at a point it’s revealed that Mo Wan Joon is a trans woman.
Should you watch?: If you really like revenge melos maybe, but if you’re looking for this show to do something good and offer up some good trans rep? Nope.
Literally nothing about Mo Wan Joon’s story is watchable. I wasn’t even entirely sure the show even knows what being transgender even means. It comes off as more of a plot twist to put the family all in a tizzy more than anything else. They don’t really show much of Wan Joon’s struggle or anything poignant or engaging.
Sweet Munchies: Tae Wan (2020)
Tumblr media
The Story: Jin Sung pretends to be a gay chef to film a tv show for money. Tae Hwan, a closeted fashion designer falls for him.
Should you watch?: No. "Everyone loved Personal Taste right? What if we just did that again but with a chef this time?"  This could have been potentially groundbreaking, but by the end of the show the two leads are unlikable and  we just wind up with more sad gay tears. But Lee Hak Joo as Tae Wan? *Chef's kiss*. This man put me through the wringer and he does it so subtly. If you must watch, literally skim through Tae Wan’s parts.
The Good (these are worth the hours of your life you wont get back)
Painter of the Wind (2008)
Tumblr media
The Story: Shin Yoon Bok is a talented painter who disguises herself as a boy to search for her father's murderer and meets a master painter who guides her into being a great painter. Kim Hong Do is the man who teaches Yoon Bok how to paint, and they develop a strong friendship of mentor and disciple.
Should You Watch?: Yes. On the surface this sounds pretty straight, but ignore the summary, because yes there’s a loveline between Yoon Bok and her mentor, but the most interesting story here is the loveline between Yoon Bok and a Gisaeng she meets named Jeong Hyang I’ve seen plenty of gender benders, but I’ve never seen one where a woman falls in love with the girl who’s pretending to be a boy. This drama isn’t technically supposed to be gay, but it’s extremely gay when when bisexual Yoon Bok hits on the gisaeng the first time they meet. Yoon Bok finds herself falling in love with the Jeong Hyang too and the love between them comes off as extremely genuine and sincere. I don’t care what that show was trying to tell me, Yoon Bok/Jeong Hyang was the true otp.
Life is Beautiful: Tae Sub and Kyung Soo (2010)
Tumblr media
The Story:  A family drama about a blended family. The show focuses heavily on Tae Sub and his boyfriend Kyung Soo
Should You Watch?:  Absolutely. In this drama we actually get to see a same sex couple. There’s not just one gay character or a situation where you have to read between the lines. Tae Sub and Kyung Soo are a gay couple who get to be together and happy and they get screentime! The show focuses on Tae Sub coming out to his family, his family's acceptance/non-acceptance, and Kyungsoo’s family’s non-acceptance as well. We get to see the guys work through their problems together and we get to see how they’re relationship changes and grows. My only complaint about this show is that it aired seven years ago and korea has shown little to no progress in terms of lgbt characters and couples in kdramas since.
Rural Outcasts (2019)
Tumblr media
The Story: Sun Hui moves to a small village where she lives her life as Soon Ho until she can make enough money to become her true self. Dong Ja, a feisty 12 year old, breaks into her house one day.
Should you watch? Yes, although, heads up, there’s a cis man playing a trans woman. Found family always makes for a heartwarming story and this one is no different. I loved the bond between Dong Ja and Sun Hui and I loved their mother daughter relationship. Very sweet and heartwarming, but be prepared for some heartbreak too.
