If there was one thing Wind hated more than being treated like a child, it was waiting.

Currently, he was sprawled out in the grass with his Wingull asleep beside him. Warriors had promised him that they would be able to spend time today since it was his brother's day off from being a gym leader, and yet the man was nowhere to be seen.

Wind had only just started his journey a few months ago. It’d taken ages to convince his grandmother that 14 was a perfectly fine age to go journeying in an entirely new region and that he and Wingull would be fine. He was right too! He’d even met people to journey with! Hyrule and Sky were both amazing traveling partners and Wind really wanted to introduce them to Warriors.

Wind was pulled from his musing by a head blocking his view of the sky. Hyrule stared down at him “Why are you still here? You said you were going to meet your brother at the Gym.” Wind groaned as he sat up while Hyrule moved away to the other side of their small camp they hadn’t packed up yet, his Zubat chattering from where it hid in Hyrule’s jacket. “He never showed up” Wind reached down to smooth back his partner's feathers and smiled when he received a sleepy chirp in response “I don’t think he remembered we had plans, he’s been busy with the gym way before me, Aryll, and Grandma finally moved here.” 

It had been a while since they’d actually seen each other now that Wind thought more about it. Wars had come and helped them all move into the new house but he’d had to fight tooth and nail with the league officials to get that much time off and this wouldn’t have been the first time that something popped up and Warriors had to leave plans.

Hyrule pulled Wind out of his thoughts when a wrapped sandwich was dropped onto his lap and some bowls with pokefood were placed beside Wingull, Zubat already perched on the edge of one of the bowls. “You could always go to the gym and look for him, Sky is still out doing the shopping and we can just carry his stuff with us or ask Fi to carry his pack” Wind looked back at Sky’s pokemon that he’d left to watch the camp, the Flygon sunbathing from beside the tents.

Wind hummed and that's where the conversation ended while they had lunch, Hyrule having stepped away to give Fi her food before settling back down beside Wind.

Mauville city was bustling with post-lunch shopping and Wind and Hyrule decided to stay in the courtyard while figuring out what they would do. Fi had Sky’s pack secured on her back and both Wingull and Zubat had taken up spots on her blue antenna. Hyrule suggested going to the Pokemart to look for Sky when Wind turned at the sound of hurried steps. He gasped, bolting away from the mart and towards the two men walking toward him and Hyrule. Warriors laughed as Wind crashed into him and Wind was easily scooped up by his brother. He latched onto Warriors like a Slakoth, wrapping his arms and legs around his brother and hugging him as tightly as he could.

“Wars! You’re here!” Wind cheered and pulled back far enough to grin at his brother while Wars shifted him so that Wind could be held better. “I'm sorry I’m so late. The officials wanted me to open the gym today but it was all figured out with some help” Wind looked at Sky curiously when Wars nodded toward the other man. Sky waved the comment off with a smile and with his Yanma chirping at them “I didn’t do much, just mentioned that Warriors had an important meeting today and that surely the trainers would understand.” Wind whooped and clung back to his brother “Awesome! Thanks so much Sky!” He decided he’d think more about that later though, slipping a little note onto the thought of Sky can get league officials to listen to him before wiggling and hopping down from Wars hold to drag the elder off towards one of the plazas other exits with a quick “I’ll see you guys later!” thrown over his shoulder to Sky and Hyrule. 

With Warriors lightly chastising him, Wingull landing on his shoulder, and a big smile on his face Wind knew that’d he’d finally get to enjoy the time with his brother that he so desperately missed.
