I’m still thinking about the abortion ban thing here and I need to ramble about it somewhere and my mom doesn’t want to hear it anymore so:
I can’t carry a pregnancy to term, or at least not a healthy one. If I were to get pregnant, I would need to abort it for my health (which I realize no one cares about) and the fetus’s health (which prolifers supposedly care about). I have a lot of health problems, I’m on a lot of medications that all cause birth defects and increase the possibility of miscarriage. No one knows what will happen if you are on all these medications at the same time while pregnant, only separately and that’s already bad enough. I can’t go off of them if I want to maintain my health and not die. I don’t know if I’d be forced to go off them or if I’d be punished for taking my medications as directed by my doctors if I were to miscarry. These medications are also all passed into breast milk so I wouldn’t be able to breastfeed because my milk would be toxic. There’s a fucking formula shortage. If I were to give birth, the newborn would go through withdrawals from the medications I’m on. Those are torture for me, a grown woman, if I just miss one dose of any of my medications. I can’t imagine what kind of torture it would be to a newborn to suddenly go cold turkey on all of the medications I’m on.
Going off the medications would be just as bad. It would also increase the risk of miscarriage (stress can cause miscarriage) and increase my risk of postpartum psychosis. Not to mention it could fucking kill me. Even ignoring the medication side effects, I have multiple health problems I can pass on to any offspring I have and I am not willing to knowingly inflict the torture I have endured on another human being. Especially since I do not ever want to be pregnant in the first place!!!
I’m doing literally everything in my power to avoid pregnancy, abortion would be my absolute last resort. I don’t even have any contact with men. I don’t date, I’m not looking to date, I don’t even have male friends. I’m on birth control. And still, all that doesn’t reduce my chance of pregnancy to zero because I can still be assaulted and my birth control can still fail. Even getting my tubes tied won’t completely reduce my chance to zero. There is absolutely nothing I can do to get rid of the vulnerabilities my body has simply because I was born into this body. Sure, I could get my ovaries and/or uterus removed, but that’s a really extreme procedure that has several severe health consequences. Not to mention that I shouldn’t have to practically gut myself just to maintain my bodily autonomy!!!! I shouldn’t even have to consider getting my tubes tied. It should be as simple as “just close your legs” but what dumbfucks don’t understand is that it’s not that simple in a world where men use their bodies like weapons!! Also that phrase is vulgar and disgusting regardless!!!
I wouldn’t even be able to access abortion with all my health problems because it wouldn’t be considered good enough. If lawmakers don’t even think ectopic pregnancies are a good enough reason to abort then my “little” problems won’t be good enough either. My life doesn’t legally matter because of a hypothetical fetus. I have less worth than a corpse. I am less human than a fetus that doesn’t even currently exist.
The fact that pro-forced birthers can’t understand that they are in the wrong is vile. These politicians shouldn’t have power, this shouldn’t be a debate. Abortion is a human right, end of discussion. These laws will kill people. They will kill women and girls. And the “prolifers” will not give a shit because the stuff they are advocating for has never been about “life”. It’s about control.

Her name was Samiya and she was brutally stabbed in the neck and chest before she was taken to a New York hospital with her sister Sanyia (who had been stabbed in the arm), where she did not survive her injuries from her neck and chest. These sisters were just at a store, and this predator FOLLOWED them after he was rejected and attacked them. He waited for them -and he's still not caught. This is just absolutely horrifying.
Misogyny fuels violence against women -and this very clear epidemic is killing young girls and women.
I cannot imagine the degree of entitlement you think you have to anyone's time and bodies- that anyone could hold that much disdain for rejection, and is okay with exerting power, control, and violence upon another person because YOUR ego is bruised. Fuck toxic masculinity and dismantle the patriarchy until it burns to the ground because I'm so sick of seeing this.
I wish all the best to the family and loved ones of Samiya. This young teenager should still be here. And I hope the man who did this gets apprehended and faces endless misery and misfortune in his lifetime.

It's kinda sad seeing posts from people almost apologetically going "I know the movie was [an allegory some on this website have decided is the one] but as someone who's disabled/autistic/gay/gnc/a woman/a minority/not fit in anywhere, this resonated with me and my experience too..."
Just say it louder, babes lmao. It can be multiple things to multiple people. A good story allows that. A fan should never ever be afraid to express their own point of view on subtext or themes, wtf. I read the creator said himself that a 5yo girl loved Nimona bc she's mean. That girl, young as she is, came at this from the view that girls should be allowed to be mean and rude and violent without being chastised to be nice, be quiet, be a good girl. Nimona also represented that for me, even if she's not a human at all in the movie, because she still chose to take a girl form most of the time we know her. Girls & women who are different, who buck their society's gender rules, have historically not fared well, especially in the eyes of a theocracy.
The same with any and all groups mentioned that have been looked at in fear or disgust because of some Pure, decent or divine worldview that deems them a threat.

Need to take you out and hangout like "one of the guys". Just to take you into any alley, changing room, or bathroom to pump your little pussy full of my cum every chance I get. No one seeing anything but a couple guys hanging out. When we both no it's just one man and girl playing pretend.
This is what I've been talking about! Finally, a real man who understands us, ftm girls 💜
You're willing to play along with our delusions in public, but when it's just the 2 of us, you get to show us just how female we are with a wet pussy between our legs 💜
Thank you, Sir!

it's not ALWAYS like this, of course; some of them were okay. but. A Worrying Amount Of Bad Stuff Gets Glossed Over
growing up in the southeastern US as a girl in the early 00s was like
"hey kids, this white woman did something unusual and independent in the early-mid 19th century, despite the misogyny of her time! girl power!"
[5-10 years later when you do your own research]
"so, here's how many human beings she, specifically, held in bondage, and-"
(I'm not saying this would be as easy to explain to kids as "if your classmate is really good at drawing, that's good, right? but it's bad if she also pushes people down on the playground. sometimes people do good things in one way, and bad things in another." but. it definitely would)

It's impossible to find a video about fashion history without an airhead who self-identifies as a fashion historian - because she LARPs on week-ends and owns a sewing machine - inserting a 5 minutes tirade in defense of corsets.

Barbie Spoilers
Obsessed with the way that men are saying that the Barbie movie ‘hates men’ when the worst thing that happens to a man is a girl rejects him. Way to tell on yourself.

i think the reason oliver is such a compelling character - or at least to me, he is - is because in the end…he wins! he gets what he wants and comes out on top.
in this modern world everyone is a bit of an oliver. crippling social anxiety, awkward, booksmart, and later in the film mostly queer audiences STILL find themselves relating to oliver’s struggle of how to express a desire that is so unconventional, so disturbing, so queer. normally in shows like this - shows with stunning rich people and their stunning social skills - the social outcast remains a social outcast. the queercoded character does not get their happy ending and remains the perpetual butt of the joke.
but in saltburn? saltburn almost has a gone girl sort of ending in the way the supposed villain gets what they want in the end, and we’re rooting for them! we see a mostly unexplored perspective in cinema - the perspective of the outsider, of the freak, and we see just how awful these people - beautiful shiny upper class folk - are, and then this outsider, who has been patronised and placed on a pedestal and humiliated, gets his revenge and gets everything he desired in the end. and in a world where queer, different characters are killed off or side lined or made fun off for whom or what they desire, oliver stands out, because he gets what he desires and he makes the audience root for him while he’s doing it.

I had an interesting talk with my uni girl friend today.
We were discussing women's healthcare in general and how it's so outdated and under researched. The topic came up because there's a conference about it coming up in my city that I'm planning to attend. I jokingly said that if there were mostly men talking about women's problems, I'll know that it's not worth my time. She was a little offended by that.
I explained that men had a lot of time to care about women's health and they did nothing, well maybe until recently in this century (last 50 years - that's present time in historical language). They aren't worthy of talking about women's struggles and oppression in the health industry in my opinion. She did not agree because, you know, men can be educated about women's physiology, which is technically true, but no one knows women's body better than a woman.
Then she started defending men for not researching women specific illnesses such as endotrymosis, that it's harder to research because of our hormonal circle. I called out the bullshit immediately, that's no excuse. We know how that affects women's bodies and it's really not that complex or hard to understand/learn. Men made it complex, so they can wash their hands. So the next line was "women weren't liberated until the 1900'" (and mostly 1950', i'm looking at you mediterraneans). No excuse, even more pros for the only female healthcare for women. She didn't have anything more to say after that and the class was starting, so I dropped the topic.
This is why lib feminism is so dangerous. They make girls believe that despite so many wrongdoings, men can still be trusted with women's issues. They make girls believe that men had changed when in reality they were, are and possibly will always be the same, the oppressors.
This is why I think I'll bring her with me on that panel. Even if it's bad, maybe she'll see the reality of the situation.

#just saw that tweet abt pink days on the set of the barbie movie & i think it made me realize why it - the marketing etc - annoys me so#'margot robbie went around collecting fines and donated them to charity haha' okay. look.#that's just the perfect metaphor for how it worked for us - me - anyone who wants to align themselves with me - when we were girls#isn't it#because you grow up and you desperately want to fit in with the other girls but you don't & you don't know why#but you're surrounded by things and people telling you what a normal girl is like & little-to-none of it is things you find appealing or#interesting. makeup and fashion and skin care. gymnastics and romance. you're told that you are obligated to be pretty#but prettiness has never been part of your perception of yourself. femininity is an arcane concept#an exclusive club that will never grant you entrance#& the only comfort you can give yourself is deciding that it's dumb anyway. shallow. vain. who cares about looks and boys and all of that#idiots that's who#but this is Doing It Wrong too isn't it? because now everyone who has taught you that you will forever fail at femininity turns around#& tells you that's patriarchal oppression and YOU'RE the bad one by distancing yourself from something that always made you feel defective#'YOU may have never lived up to this impossible standard of perfection but some ppl do and actually it's fine to be like that!#hyperfeminine traditionally beautiful women are the most oppressed group of all & finally we will stand up for our rights!'#'girls can be pretty AND conpetent' but that's not what they're actually saying. isn't it.#because performing femininity correctly is the prerequisite. a threshold you can never cross and you know that. & that's fine#but somehow that's wrong too because you're not supposed to make peace w that are you. you're SUPPOSED to want to do it right#even if you don't and never have and never will#and once again everyone is yelling at you that this club isn't meant for you. if you criticize the barbie movie you're antifeminist#if you refuse to wear pink I'll make you pay a fine#hashtag girlpower#(well im not a girl. not a guy either. and not a secret third thing. just bad at femininity.#bad at being a person. and y'all don't need to tell me you don't want me in your club#I've always known that. i just wish you'd stop expecting me to beg for entrance.)

Ok rank the things that are major red flags if a man says he is really interested in them. I'll start:
My Little Pony
World War II
Roman Empire, esp if they think it's the greatest civilization in history
Communism and/or Marxism specifically (if they actually are that's fine but often the men I've known and met are Marxists from the waist up. Many such cases)
Anime (depends on what they're into and why). Like Shonenshitters are different from shonen fans but they're both on thin ice from the get-go

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N.’s most powerful body must support governments seeking to legally declare the intensifying crackdown by Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers on women and girls “gender apartheid,” the head of the U.N. agency promoting gender equality said Tuesday. Sima Bahous, executive director of UN Women, told the Security Council that more than 50 increasingly dire Taliban edicts are being enforced with more severity, including by male family members. That is exacerbating mental health issues and suicidal thoughts especially among young women and is shrinking women’s decision-making even in their own homes. “They tell us that they are prisoners living in darkness, confined to their homes without hope or future,” she said. Under international law, apartheid is defined as a system of legalized racial segregation that originated in South Africa. But a growing consensus among international experts, officials and activists says apartheid can also apply to gender in cases like that of Afghanistan, where women and girls face systematic discrimination. “We ask you to lend your full support to an intergovernmental process to explicitly codify gender apartheid in international law,” Bahous urged the 15-member council, including its five permanent members: the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France. There is no existing international law to respond to “mass, state-sponsored gender oppression,” Bahous said. But she said the Taliban’s “systemic and planned assault on women’s rights … must be named, defined and proscribed in our global norms so that we can respond appropriately.” The Taliban took power in August 2021 during the final weeks of the U.S. and NATO forces’ pullout from Afghanistan after 20 years of war. As they did during their previous rule of Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001, the Taliban gradually reimposed their harsh interpretation of Islamic law, or Sharia, barring girls from school beyond the sixth grade and women from almost all jobs, public spaces, gyms and recently closing beauty salons. The Security Council meeting on U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ latest report on Afghanistan took place on the final day of the annual meeting of world leaders at the 193-member U.N. General Assembly.
Males oppress female human beings on the axis of sex. The Taliban commits mass rape and genocide of women and girls, bars them from obtaining an education and treats them as domestic and sexual property. Yet despite what research and scholarship has been published across disciplines, despite what investigative journalists have reported, despite the lived experiences of these women and girls being described, despite video and photographic documentation, despite both the data and the grossly inhuman rules and religious code written in policy and holy books, the immense global pattern of the oppression of female human beings by males is dismissed, justified, willfully ignored, or just plainly not prioritized. Male supremacy goes unchallenged.
