Summary: Charles' clumsiness is a curse and blessing.

Charles Leclerc has always been clumsy. His hands were constantly struggling to keep things steady and his grip was as slippery as pavement on a rainy day. Every piece of food that intended to get into his mouth often did a technical stop at his shirts and most of the brewages ran down the ends of his lips, failing to make it to his tongue. It was a shock to everyone when he decided that he wanted to drive cars in weirdly shaped circles at 300 kph for a living. Charles, the kid who couldn't play basketball because he always loss the grip of the ball, wanted to keep the pace of a car through the sharp corners of the most iconic Grand Prixs. No one could believe it, but they were even more stunned when he ended up being actually great a it. He was really great at it and that, ladies and gentlemen, was the real shock. He still had his fair share of accidents around the paddock, like when he ran into a tyre, falling face-first on the floor while he was trying to go to the bathroom, or when he drove over his own phone with the car because he forgot he left it next to one of the wheels when he kneeled down to tie his shoe. Those were pretty embarrassing moments for Charles, but lucky him, they were private, hidden behind the friendship and confidentiality that characterized his team in Ferrari. But when he thought he couldn't hurt his pride any more, he found a new level of embarrassment.

It was his most guarded secret that he liked Carlos Sainz Jr.'s younger sister. Carlos was his teammate, and Y/N Sainz was a driver for Mercedes, along side Lewis Hamilton. More than "like her", Charles worshipped her. He thought the world of her, admiring everything she did like it was God-touched art. From her skilled driving to her pretty face, Charles could spend his entire life just watching her exist. But his little -massive- crush felt like treason to him, the sting of guilt stabbing him in the chest every time he was in the same room as the Sainz siblings. The younger Sainz constantly spent her free time at the Ferrari garage, glued to her older brother like they were joined by the hip. This meant that Charles had her around all the time, resulting in him letting things slip from his hands, knocking things off tables and tripping over his own feet on a daily basis. He just couldn't keep it together around her and even though she find it cute, he still felt awkward about it. Embarrassing himself in front of Y/N Sainz was his speciality so when him, her and Max Verstappen got a podium together, he did what he does best: fuck it up. She had her hair down, the soft wind of Australia moving it around slightly and he couldn't help but watch it flow while she moved her hands around as she spoke. They were all ready for the podium picture, Max and Y/N were talking about their cars when they were asked to stand close to each other, facing the large amount of cameras with live feeds straight to millions of viewers around the world. Max let Y/N stand in the middle, his arm going over her shoulder while Charles positioned at her other side, mimicking the winner of the race.

"Charles, your suit is open". One of the press correspondents said and he looked down to confirm that his race suit was, in fact, not zipped up. Everything happened in a fraction of a second, he turned around to zip it, the velcro of the sleeve of his suit attached to a strand of hair that was close and as he quickly zipped up his suit that strand of hair got stuck on the zipper. When he turned around back again, Y/N yelped in pain, her head moving sharply towards his chest.

"Auch!". Was all she initially left out, followed by a hiss when she tried to stand straight again. He didn't know what to do, so he did the first thing that came to mind, he zipped down his suit. Her head went even lower as her hair got even more tangled to the zipper. "Charles, you're making it worse!"

"I'm so sorry!". He was about to zip it up again, his face red in a mix of embarrassment and concert for the pain he was causing her.

"Don't!". She yelled and grabbed his hand to stop him. He felt like his hand was on fire, but his spine suddenly cold. He could feel her touch through his body, his brain stopping functioning. "Let me do it". She said calmly as she grabbed her hair and zipper. Her hand so close to his chest was giving him a hard time breathing, he just hoped that no one got to see his blushed cheeks on TV. She worked on her hair for a few seconds, but the public situation wasn't exactly a comfortable space for her to do her thing patiently.

They had to cut it and the missing part was so evident that she was close to crying. She did the best she could to smile anyways and they took the picture. The moment was live streamed and the memes from the fans quickly invaded Twitter. He lost count of how many times he apologized to her, but even if she told him that it was alright as many times, he still felt awful about it. His mother was coincidentally at the race that weekend and she was a hairdresser, so Charles came up with an idea and offered her to ask his mother to fix the mess he made. Y/N agreed and they both walked to the Ferrari lodgings, where his family was. She wanted it fixed for the podium party that night. In the room, she found Arthur, who she already knew from previous races, Charles' older brother Lorenzo and their mother, Pascale. After the proper greetings, Charles' mother took a look at her hair.

"You really did a number here, Char. What a shame, this is a beautiful hair". Both Charles and Y/N blushed, Charles from embarrassment and her at the praise to her hair.

"Thank you, Mrs. Leclerc". She smiled and the older woman mimicked the gesture. The Spaniard sat in front of a mirror and Pascale started working.

"Toc toc". Carlos voice rang behind Charles at the door. "Ah, veo que estáis solucionando el desastre de Charles" (Oh, I see that you're fixing Charles' mess). Carlos stood beside his sister and then looked at Charles. "Next time put some space between the two of you". He said it with a playful smile, but Charles could see that Carlos was being serious about it. The older man was extremely protective over his younger sister and Charles knew that it was hard to pass Carlos' test when it came to being good enough for his little sister. Y/N smacked her brother's arm softly.

"Be nice". She said in a warning tone. "He didn't do it on purpose". She locked eyes with Charles through the mirror and he smiled at her.

"Still, he should keep his distance. You don't need to be all squished together for the picture". There was no point in arguing with him, she knew the hair wasn't the problem, for Carlos, Charles was. Carlos was sure that his teammate liked his sister and he wasn't too happy about it. The siblings talked about it a few times, the older one even offering to go to the Mercedes garage instead of her going to Ferrari's just to keep her away from Charles.

"Max was pretty close too". Arthur added and Charles knew that even though his brother was trying to help him, he ended up doing the contrary.

"Yes, he was". Carlos said in a monotone voice. "But like Charles here...". He put his arm around Charles shoulders. "He won't anymore". Charles nodded slowly while looking at Carlos. "Okay, I'll see you guys later". He dropped his arm from Charles shoulders and bended down to kiss his sister on the cheek. "Pórtate bien, chiquita. Te veo para cenar" (Behave, kiddo. I'll see you at dinner). And with that, Carlos walked out, proud of leaving a terrified Charles behind.

Everyone kept talking while Charles' mother finished with her hair, Charles keeping his distance even though Carlos wasn't present. When the cut was done, Y/N looked even better than before. She smiled and turned around, moving her hair around and looking at it in the mirror. She exclaimed how much she loved it repeatedly and she hugged Pascale tightly. Charles smiled like a fool watching her move around, his eyes going through every millimeter of her face, the way her brown eyes closed a bit as her cheeks went up with her big smile and how her lips looked even more pinkish after biting on them through the whole cut. After many 'thank you's and another round of hugs, Y/N waltzed out the room, going to her own facility to change and get ready for the podium party. She posted a picture with her knew haircut and she tagged Charles, letting all the fans know that everything was alright between them.

"Thanks @ charles_leclerc for the free haircut but please stick to driving. Thanks to his mom tho, for fixing it". Arthur read out loud for all of the Leclerc's to hear. Charles was smiling again, his eyes scanning the selfie and reading the caption over and over again.

The party was alright, everyone was having fun and Y/N was rocking her new hair. Charles followed her around most of the night, wishing he had the guts to ask her to dance with him or invite her a drink. He was too scared, he feared he would make a fool of himself again, the last thing he needed was to step on her or make her fall while dancing. After two hours of not knowing what to do, he found himself sitting on a couch, kind of down and looking at the bottom of his glass. The couch dipped at his left and he looked up, finding a pair of brown eyes looking back at him.

"Why so blue, Charlie?". The girl of his dreams asked him, and he found himself at loss of words. Arthur watched his brother from afar, sensing that he was about to screw up, so he quickly walked to them and saved his big brother with the first thing that came to his drunken mind.

"So, are you coming?". He asked and both drivers looked at him puzzled.

"Where to?". She answered.

"Charles didn't tell you!". He faked surprise. "Next week is Monaco, and Maman will celebrate her birthday, she wanted to know if you want to come". Arthur quickly lied. Charles looked up at his brother unsure of what was happening. He felt Y/N gaze on him so he turned around to face her.

"I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you". Charles said quickly. "I was so busy with the press and then we didn't even talked here... I just... sorry". He trailed off at the end. He didn't even know how to properly lie. She smiled.

"Don't worry, and of course I'll go. Your mom is super nice!". She exclaimed excitedly. Arthur walked away and gave his brother a thumbs up, getting an eye roll from Charles.

"Y/N! It's nice to see you again". Lorenzo greeted her when he opened the door. He then moved his gaze to Carlos, who was standing next to his sister. "Nice to see you too, Carlos".

"We come bearing gifts!". The younger Spaniard showed Lorenzo the red wine bottle they brought.

"Wow". He said grabbing the bottle. "With a gift like this you two just earned the VIP Leclerc Experience". The siblings laughed with Lorenzo as he moved aside to let them in. "Maman is in the back yard, with Charles and my girlfriend, Charlotte. Go on, make yourselves at home". Y/N looked around until she found the door to the back yard. Her brother followed her close behind.

"Oh, Y/N! Carlos! I'm so glad you're here!". Pascale got up from the table and walked to them, kissing both their cheeks.

"Happy birthday, Mrs. Leclerc!". Y/N handed her the gift Carlos and her made for the Leclerc matriarch. Pascale opened the little box and found a bracelet inside with three red beads. "Since all of you wear bracelets, we made this one for you, it has three beads, one for each of your kids. We hope you like it".

"I love it!". The older woman took the bracelet out of the box and started to put it on.

"Let me help". Carlos offered. He clipped the bracelet around Pascale's wrist and then she led them to the table. Y/N sat next to Charles, while she proudly watched Pascale admire her gift.

"I think she really likes it". Charles whispered to her. "You choose great".

"Thanks, but you should credit Carlos, I made the bracelet, but it was his idea". Charles looked at his teammate, who was now talking to Arthur and Carla, Arthur's girlfriend, the last two to arrive. The rest of the guests kept arriving, all of them family and close friends. Carlos was amicably talking to Charles' cousins, finally forgetting about his sister. They spent an amazing day. The bottle of wine that the two Spaniards brought was going around the table when the party was entering its last hour, Charles poured some in Y/N's glass. The only ones in the table were Charles' brothers, their girlfriends, Carlos, two cousins and them, the birthday girl having excused herself when the only ones remaining were the young.

"You know, I brought this really expensive wine you're drinking right now and Lorenzo told me that it granted me a VIP Leclerc Experience". Charles could hear the teasing in her whispered voice. "Tell me, Charles, what does this VIP pass include?". Y/N grabbed the glass and took it to her lips. He felt like the wine and her perfume were making him dumber by the second, he wanted to give her a cheeky answer, but he found himself speechless. He finished pouring himself the wine but when he tried to set the bottle on the table, he missed it, spilling the wine over Y/N's lap, staining her white sundress. Everyone stopped talking and looked at them. Charles could feel his face heating up from embarrassment and didn't dare to look at the woman next to him.

"I'm so, so sorry". He said quickly as he tried his best to clean up her dress. He avoided looking at her face and kept repeating his apology over and over again.

"It's okay, Charles". She sighed. "It was an accident".

"I think there's some clothes bleach in the ground floor bathroom". Arthur said quickly. Lorenzo was about to stand up when his little brother kept him down by his arm and shook his head. "Why don't you guys go there? You'll be more comfortable". Y/N looked at her brother who was looking back at her sternly. He didn't like the idea of Charles and his sister alone in a bathroom. Any other day, she would have followed her brother's rules, but she really liked Charles and even though she still wanted to kill him for ruining her dress, she got up and thanked Arthur for the information. Charles clumsily got up too and walked behind her into the house.

"I'm really sorry, Y/N". He repeated while they were squished together inside the small bathroom. They were furiously rubbing a wet cloth with bleach over the red stain but it was persisting. Charles was doing his best to ignore that the dress was up enough for him to see most of her legs and the physical closeness forced by the little space they had wasn't helping.

"Please, stop apologizing". She begged him. She huffed and stopped working on the dress. The temperature inside the little bathroom was going up and they were feeling the heat. She opened the tap and soaked her hands. Running her hand over her forehead to freshen up her face, she looked at him. "You're the clumsiest person I know, I swear". Charles looked down, embarrassed, while she dried her hands with a towel.

"I'm sor-".

"Don't". She cut him off. "Instead of apologizing you should start making it up to me". He felt her hands on his chest and he snapped his head up instantly. She was looking back at him with a smirk, confidence plastered on her face. She slowly ran her hands up to his neck, playing with the hair at the back of his head. She moved closer and Charles felt the air caught up in his throat.

"Carlos is going to be really mad. He's going to kill us both". The last part came up a little breathier than he expected it. She giggled a little, it was kind of cute that he was actually that scared of her brother.

"I'll deal with him, don't worry". She moved closer to him, her lips ghosting his ear. "But first we have to do something for him to get mad about, don't we?". And there went the last bit of self control that Charles had in him.

Carlos was getting impatient and Arthur and Lorenzo had ran out of ideas to keep him sat at the table. They kept offering wine but, as a worthy Spaniard, the man could drink it like it was water. His grandfather would be proud of his alcohol tolerance. Carlos checked the time a few times, looking back at the door to the house to see if his sister ever came out. Carla and Charlotte kept asking him questions and he was doing the best he could to answer them as politely as possible. At some point, it was all too much.

"C'mon! What's taking them so long?". He asked to no one in particular and everyone at the same time. The girls looked at each other worried.

"Tu ne veux pas savoir". (You don't wanna know). Arthur mumbled. Carlos frowned at him. With wide eyes, Arthur tried to make up a fake translation. "I said-"

"Don't bother". Carlos cut him off as he got up from the table. "I speak french". And with that last comment that left the others speechless, he walked into the house. He looked for the bathroom for a few minutes, kind of lost by the amount of doors around the ground floor. Next to the stairs, a door caught his attention. Inside, he heard a sound like a giggle. He opened the door as he asked. "¿Y/N, estás aquí?". (Are you in here?).

"¡Mierda!". (Shit!). Inside, his sister was sitting on the counter, her legs wrapped around his teammate, who was shamelessly sucking a hickey on her neck. Charles quickly moved back, hitting his back against the wall, that was a lot closer to them than he had calculated. Y/N jumped down and walked to the door, standing between her brother and a disheveled Charles, with his shirt half open and hair messy.

"¡Joder, Charles! ¿Con mi hermana?". (Fuck, Charles! With my sister?). Y/N could see her brother's face reddening with anger. "I'm fucking killing you".

"Ahora no, Carlitos, I'm getting the VIP Leclerc Experience". (Not now). She closed the door on his face and turned around. "Okay, where were we?"

I actually did come up with a URL for Hawkeye once, but I was just editing a URL in a screencap to fit him better. A lot of people have tumblr URLs that have nothing to do with their lives, jobs, or interests (hi) but that's really hard to do with fictional characters so here are some ideas.

Hawkeye: currently hes-gomorrah

Clinically insane posting, no one can get over the fact that he's a successful surgeon in real life. Changes his URL, bio, and icon to resemble a pornbot and catfishes Frank like once a month. Frank falls for it literally every time.

Trapper: currently im-gomorrah

Barely posts, mostly made an account to follow Hawkeye and do matching URLs with him. They've changed up the theme a few times. He's the least online and therefore the most free.

Margaret: thats-major-to-you

Posts about military history and women's history, especially where they overlap, and sometimes about nursing.

Sends Henry and Potter anonymous callouts of Hawkeye, Trapper, Klinger, and BJ literally every day.

Honestly what bothers me is that Kate is by far the least controversial member of the brf and yet people who claim that they like her psycho analyse her and criticise everything to the death. I’m not saying she’s perfect and I think her and w’s work ethic is abysmal and she should really control her spending. But Sophie spends a lot on clothes as well and they often don’t fit right and yet no one is criticising the same thing over and over again. That’s not even mentioning her yelling at a staff or her and edwards continuing relationship with Andrew (same could be said for anne and Charles). Anne is praised by blogs but when she does engagement they’ll post 1 picture and that’s it. She also said some controversial things like denying climate change, if this was Kate she’d be torn to shreds.

And I think everyone knows Charles’ shady deals but people don’t bring it up every single day.

It’s annoying, if you hate it all so much why tune in what they’re doing?

They post dozens of pictures of Kate doing engagements, pick apart everything but when their favs do engagements they will post 1 picture and call it a day..

This is part of the problem. I don't remember who said this but it goes that you should always give others something to complain about or they will find something anyway.

If Catherine was out there giving interviews, no one would care about how much she works. It is because she is so chill that they have to find some problem with her or her work.

Once again i wanna say just how much i love your blog and your posts. I wanna cram every info inside my brain ngl so that I am able to understand the races in a different light. Can i ask for some recs for extra reading or youtube vlogs to understand the races better? I saw some resources on your page (such as the f1 tech reddit page and some youtube pages too) and i m checking those out too so that i can understand the tech side better and their choices for strategies and all that. Thank you ♥️

Video Content

Formula 1 Tech Talks It's official F1 content with different people. They always talk about something relevant to specific races and it's often very informative and interesting.

There is this playlist from the Tech Talk Demos that talk about about a lot of different F1 car parts and demonstrate how they work.

There are more Tech Talks but not all are in that playlist so you just have to search the youtube channel for it.

Chainbear on YouTube He makes a lot of content about like everything! He has a video about Hungary strategy. He pretty much has a video about how and why things went down the way that they did about most races, lovely illustrations/ animation and explains things really well.

Or this video about the basics of race strategy as a whole.

He also has some videos about technical things like tyres, and engines and these sort of things. He is one of the best entry points into learning about how things work and why they happen the way they do.

Driver61 on YouTube He talks more about driver specific things and used to be a racing driver. So he has videos on things like how Checo is so good at saving his tyres.

brrake on YouTube and twitch He used to be a performance engineer for multiple F1 teams and was working for RB recently (he brings it up any chance he has). His personality is not for everyone but his videos are still informative and interesting and he does know what he is talking about. He also does race and quali watchalongs if that's your thing. Ahead of qualifying he ususally looks at some data from FP3 and analyses it on stream, but you can watch them back. He also now has a podcast but I haven't listened to a single episode no clue how good that one is.

His video about the Dutch GP is really interesting.

f1toni is on TikTok and twitch (I've only seen her TikToks) she talks a lot about F1 things in general like all aspects of F1, history, the regs, contracts and so on. And often highlights Women in Motorsport. Really worth a follow if you have TikTok.

Molly @ abunchofredf1ags on TikTok She's an engineer and makes a whole bunch of videos about again all sorts of things. Not all videos are super serious but she also explains a lot of tech things.

Twitter accounts

Sara @ _allthatglitz on twitter For Ferrari related things, has calm takes most of the time and does like a bit of analysis. Fights anyone that is remotely rude to Charles. But knows what she is talking about.

@ F1Techy Does some analysis and talks about other tech related F1 things too. For example has a post about the RB vs Ferrari strategy in Monza.

@ GuilyDuchessa He is a journalist for Formula Uno and great for general Ferrari infos and news but also writes articles where he analyses things. They are always in Italian so you if you translate it somethings are gonna sound weird but the rest makes sense. Also talks about car upgrades and their impact amongst other things.

@ ProjectF1 Does analysis on twitter and has some lovely plots.

@ ScarbsTech Tweets a lot about the technical aspects and upgrades and all sorts of technical things. He is one of the guys that does the F1 Tech Talk that is featured on F1TV.

I think it makes more sense for those who are uncomfortable with what is written here not to follow this page because I have stopped reading a few blogs for such reasons. The anon who said parasocial has probably never read any news in own life and made own comments or developed an opinion about the character in a movie the anon watched, so the anon made a psychological diagnosis for the anon who made a long comment. That long comment anon did not criticize directly in any way, just said that there were some inconsistencies, which is quite natural. Also, Charles is back in Monaco and there is an incredible outpouring of posts. He's been photographed with almost everyone and someone even mentioned that he put his car down very casually and got out to take a picture. One of the gossip pages even said that it looked like he was doing damage control. As far as we know, he still hasn't gone to the factory or to winter camp, so he's on vacation, so he's doing these things in his own time. In fact, people are also talking about these inconsistencies and when the suggestion is that he has a 'new girlfriend', it becomes even more strange. Like the photos, I admit there are times when it's very late or I'm just very tired, I don't click. I've been told it bothers me, I'm not comfortable. I put my mind back in place and deleted it.

There's nothing wrong with saying I was wrong, as long as it's sincere. But I don't want anyone waiting on the blog to censor opinions or comments because they don't fit into your perfect fan box. I think we often forget in communities, that there are personalities, feelings in fans.

As I said, just because you're a fan doesn't mean you have to be a puppet, and have to understand or agreeing to everything without questioning the behavior of the personality you like. And that we should stop being fans at the slightest behavior that leaves us questioning and doubtful. That's for people who tell me to go away if you're not happy. 🙃

I've pretty much stopped following all gossip accounts and then some of Charles fan acc too. A lot which freaked me out. With this overly parasocial behavior.

As I'm also into the admin thing, and not anymore anon, believe me I've seen a lot that's put me off a lot of accounts. I just expect that even in unpopular opinions, we know how to speak with honesty and calm. That every time it turns into a story of bad or good fan. It's really tiring.

I'm also very tired of being too neutral when expressing unpopular opinions. It's good to be neutral, but too much neutrality means nothing and what you say no longer makes sense. Dutch Van Der Linde

Dutch first laid eyes on you when you were hanging off the edge of a cliff after slipping when you got too close to the edge. He immediately ran over to you, helping you off the cliff and getting you settled back on your feet.

He seemed genuinely concerned and agreed to help you safely record the rock carving that was on the side of the cliff face, keeping you from falling.

You were a historian and had been studying these mysterious rock carvings after meeting an equally mysterious man, Francis Sinclair.

You didn’t see much of Dutch Van Der Linde after that until you ran into him again in Saint Denis in the saloon. He remembered who you were instantly and started up a conversation about your work where you chatted away for hours.

You became very close after that and he often accompanied you to Museums and fancy fundraisers that you were invited to.

He’d always get dressed up and complimented your finer outfits which was such a difference to the field gear you’d have on. You’d spend all night chatting away over nice champagne and dancing together before actually engaging with other guests but you didn’t have a care in the world with Dutch in your life.

Arthur Morgan

Arthur finds you standing in the middle of a field, flipping over rocks and staring numbly at what appeared to be a map in your hands.

When he approached you he soon learnt you were a young amateur explorer about to get your big break with a treasure hunt but you couldn’t find the gold bars for the life of you.

Arthur gave you a heart warming smile and held up a gold bar after retrieving it from his satchel having felt a little bad that he’d discovered it not a week before you.

The two of you laughed about it, calling yourself a fool for trying to find it for so long when it was clearly missing— the thought that someone took it clearly never crossed your mind.

Arthur was always a gentleman however and promised to make it up to you. After taking you to dinner and getting to know him better, you spent the next few days camping out and finding a new treasure together.

You travelled through caves and through valleys of flowers to find this treasure. Sometimes it was so beautiful that the two of you just stopped by a stream to let your horses rest and enjoy the scenery.

When you finally found the treasure you gave Arthur a big hug in excitement which caught him by surprised but he happily returned. He let you keep the treasure and wished you luck with more exploring but of course that wasn’t the last time you saw Arthur again.

Charles Smith

Charles meets you one day while you’re out surveying wildlife. You specialised in conservation, wanting to study and protect animal species.

Fresh out of the university from Saint Denis you’d been dying to get out of the confining city and explore the heartlands. That’s where a kind gentleman named Charles Smith had offered to protect you and show you around the herds of bison you’d taken to studying.

You spent days together riding the over the hills and following the herd as they travelled. While you were Charles told you all about his family and the respect and love they have for the beautiful creatures.

It was amazing the array of knowledge Charles knew about bison and you couldn’t stop the smile on your face as he told you about the characteristics of the bison. You rushed to take notes in your journal, knowing that all that he told you would help you study and protect these animals.

“Do you think it’ll actually do any good? The work you’re doing?”

“One can only hope Mr.Smith but I will do everything in my ability to protect such beautiful creatures.”

Even when you had to return to the city for study you constantly wrote to Charles, staying in touch and keeping him updated with all your work. It was hard to say goodbye to someone you’d grown close to but you made regular visits to each other long after that.

John Marston

You first found John in the saloon after a long day at work, in desperate need of a drink. Being a zoologist you instantly noticed the scars on his face and would’ve guessed a wolf was the animal that caused the damage.

The two of you instantly started up a conversation and shared all kinds of stories. He told you about being up on the mountain while you showed him the scar on your arm from your run in with a cougar.

You were collecting a compendium of all the animals across the heartlands and during the months you worked on it, you ran into John more than once.

He was always curious about your work and you often spent time together in the afternoon sun, showing him the animals you’d found so far.

“What about the stray dogs in town or do you only deal with cougars and wolves?”

“Well they’re animals too aren’t they not?”

Even though you couldn’t see John all the time, he often came along with you to see the wildlife and covered you when you were around particularly dangerous animals and you enjoyed every second you had with him.

Micah Bell

When Micah met you he had absolutely no idea what you were on about. In his mind the whole idea of a palaeontologist is ridiculous and made up, much less the fact that you chose to read books and study in your spare time.

At first he doesn’t do anything but mock your work but after running into you time and time again he finally started to come around.

He grew more and more curious when he saw the drawings in your sketch books of dinosaurs and even more so when he laid eyes on the fossils. But knowing Micah, he’s still incredibly stubborn.

“Ain’t no way that thing is real.”

“One needs an open mind to comprehend what’s prehistoric Mr.Bell. It requires a certain practice.”

Every so often on your work you’d run into Micah who’d be riding around on his horse, just passing by. By now you’d consider him a friend and your face lit up as he pulled a small ammonite fossil from his bag.

It wasn’t really your area of expertise but you could tell he wanted to impress you and seemed almost nervous as you examined the fossil. Nonetheless you could tell it was real and you let him keep the small fossil as a reminder of you until the next time you saw him.

Javier Escuella

Javier meets you when you’re down my the docks, trying to capture the sunlight and noticed him fishing.

Not wanting to disturb him you kept out of his hair until you heard him cheer loudly at a catch he managed to pull in. In your particular interest in animals, you couldn’t help but ask if you could take a photo of the fish he’d caught.

From then on the two of you became friends, often running into each other as you tried to capture landscapes and wildlife.

You’d always spend the day together and you’d show him how to use a camera while he showed you how to fish and play the guitar.

When you spent time apart you’d often write to each other to fill the gap. You’d always send pictures with little writing on the back of them while he sent you poems and songs that he wrote for you, promising to play them for you next time you’d meet.

In your personal journal you have the first picture you ever took of Javier, kept safe between the pages. He’s standing along the docks, facing the away from the water as he holds up a large sturgeon and a large smile.

You and Javier always stay in touch and after he told you of his chaotic and dangerous time in guarma he made light of it by telling you about all the different wildlife he saw while he was there.

Bill Williamson

Bill stumbles upon you in the wild by accident. He’s out scouting a lead when he ended up getting lost through the shrubbery and found you examining flowers closely.

When you told him you were a botanist he looked as if you’d just spoken a different language to him because he didn’t have a clue as to what that meant. Bill always made you laugh fondly at the confused look when you told him all the scientific names of flowers.

In Bill’s mind, a flower was a flower. There was purple flowers and blue flowers and even red ones but they didn’t have their own names.

The next time Bill ran into you he brought you what he thought was a bouquet of white flowers. Instead they were actually a species of weed that was poisonous when eaten but it didn’t stop you from smiling and hugging him which was the intended purpose.

In light of that incident Bill was actually curious about some plants, trying to learn about them more. When Bill went exploring with you he pointed out some of his favourites and you picked a few to put them in the brim of his hat for him to take him back to camp.

When you run into him again Bill tries to give you another flower, this time actually understanding the plant he’d picked was a Vanilla Flower Orchid or the Vanilla planifolia but he never learnt how to pronounce it unlike you.

With a high blush Bill placed the flower behind your ear and you pulled him into a hug, being careful not to crush the beautiful flower.

Monday 10/5/21 - Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong; A Brief Guide

In a previous post, I had a small rant about how mainstream media is really bad at accurately representing dinosaurs. Today I've decided that I'll help educate the uninformed of what exactly I mean by that.

Many issues with representing dinosaurs come from using outdated scientific knowledge. Sure, scientists believed dinosaurs really looked like this at some point, but some of these ideas are hundred of years out of date. Other inaccuracies come from one outlet presenting an idea as fact, and then many other media forms running with the idea without fact-checking.

Here's a brief guide of some of the most common mistakes/inaccuracies made when representing dinosaurs in the mainstream.

Dragging Tail/Kangaroo Posture

Thankfully this is an issue that is seen less often these days, but the movie The Good Dinosaur recently brought up that pain again.

Long Necked Dinosaurs in particular often suffer this inaccuracy. Dinosaurs in life would've had a very horizontal body plan, and their tails were mostly stiff rods held almost parallel to the ground, only the end was flexible.

The other way posture was done wrong, also much less common these days, is when bipedal therapods were reconstructed upright, almost in a kangaroo pose. It is more accurate to pose them horizontal too. Picture a cassowary or ostrich with arms.

Hand Pronation

One of the most common issues that even otherwise perfectly accurate dinosaur reconstructions get is hand pronation. To clarify terminology here, pronation is the position of your hands when your rotate your wrist to have your palm facing the ground. Why is this relevant? Because dinosaurs could not do this.

It is a problem deeply ingrained in everyday culture now. Ask someone to do a T-Rex impression and they'll bend their wrist inwards and face their palms toward the ground, like a bunny rabbit.

What could dinosaurs do then? On the above image, a bipedal dinosaur's natural hand position would be in the neutral pose, as if they were preparing to clap them together.

Many predatory bipedal dinosaurs used their forelimbs as grasping appendages, so having them in a position where they could actually meet is important. To rotate the wrist, they would need to rotate the whole arm at the shoulder, and this is how modern dinosaurs (birds) flap their wings.

Columnar "Elephant" Feet

An issue with trying to represent extinct animals with few extant lineages is people will use totally unrelated analogues to reconstruct body plans. An inaccuracy not often thought of is the legs and feet of larger quadruped dinosaurs. Artists will often fall into the trap of depicting larger sauropods, ceratopsians, and nodosaurs with thick column legs and tiny toes, like you'd see in an elephant or rhinoceros. But dinosaurs were reptiles and even the thicker heavy-set ones still had very reptilian feet.

Integument/Feathers

One of the most hotly debated questions of the past few decades is the amount of feather covering dinosaurs had. It is now well understood that the presence of even simple feathers is ancestral to nearly all dinosaur groups, but the degree to which integument covered an animal varied between groups. Many dinosaurs in media are reconstructed with naked scales and this is mostly wrong.

In my opinion, the bigger sin is blotching a dinosaur's pelt with small quills here and there, and proper feathering on just the head and tail, maybe arms. Its a very ugly look.

The Good Dinosaur, "Velociraptor"

In most cases, paleoart will tell you that the meat-eating dinosaurs most closely related to birds were definitely covered in a full coat of feathers. And trust me, they look just as cool as the classic scaly Velociraptor.

But feather-haters will often ridicule this take, and push feathering to the extreme, in an attempt to make the idea of feathered dinosaurs a joke. The truth of the matter however, is that the feathering of dinosaurs is much like fur of mammals.

Feathers are foremost, a thermoregulation tool, and much like how elephants are too large to need a thick fur coat, larger dinosaurs like Sauropods, and even Tyrannosaurus, would likely have been mostly naked. Cold adapted relatives of larger species may have had thicker coats, like T-Rex's tundra cousin, Yutyrannus, but for the most part, larger species, or species not as closely related to birds, would've had minimal feathering, but still fuzz of some sort.

I hate the stupid budgerigar T.Rex and it makes me angry every time I see it on my feed.

What we know about dinosaurs changes every time we discover a new specimen, but the rules I've presented in this article are relatively static. If you want to reconstruct Spinosaurus, just know what we currently know as fact will likely change in the next two years or less.

And so this is end of my (relatively) short guide on inaccuracies of dinosaur reconstructions. To end this blogpost, I will reccomend the Youtube Channel that inspired the name for this blog, Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong, where Steven Belletini, a palaeontologist and digital artist, uses toys of dinosaurs sent to him by fans as a starting point to drive conversation about what even is an accurate dinosaur reconstruction.

some of these are LONG and then some are shorter. doesn’t mean I love any of them any less however. I just did my best with all of them.

frequently uses Facebook and has dozens of friends he doesn’t even know. like if he gets a friend request he’ll accept it. John tells him he might as well just make his page public and Arthur pleads with him to make a facebook PAGE so that his random friends will stop liking posts that Arthur tags Dutch in. 

Dutch has no idea how to make a facebook page. 

he also has a Twitter and a massive following at that. He’s VERIFIED. 

all of his twitter posts are vague though

are they a joke? are they political? is it what he’s eating for lunch that day? literally no one knows.

Hosea

also has facebook but doesn’t use it because why does he need to look at pictures of events he was at. he only uses it to see things he didn’t partake in

also has snapchat but just to keep up with the kids 

because life360 was too much to deal with for everyone

and snapchat is cool

also he can and will spam you with bitmojis 

Arthur

used to use facebook a lot but stopped because he was tired of his posts getting likes from people he didn’t know and friend requests from people Dutch was friends with. 

plEASE

he has a private facebook for a reason, he doesn’t want other people to know his business. 

he also has an instagram but anything he posts on facebook also goes on there. it’s not aesthetic or pretty or anything and he doesn’t even caption over half his pictures. 

he literally only uses social media so that his friends and family know he’s alive

has snapchat because of Hosea but barely knows how to use it 

doesn’t get why everyone wants to use snapchat when teXTING AND CALLING ARE RIGHT THERE

John

the question is what doesn’t he have.

john has been trying to make it big on social media since youtube came out.

his youtube used to have videos on it but he deleted them because they were cringy and arthur liked to send them to the group text. 

plays twitch games on the weekends and sometimes with Jack but he thinks most of the subscribers are there for his kid since most of his solo streams don’t do as well

has a twitter, doesn’t follow Dutch, literally envies that he’s verified. 

he’s tried everything but no matter what he does nothing pans out

instagram feed is mostly selfies of him but 99.9% of the time he’s wearing sunglasses and the caption is some random quote

an avid reddit user. if he’s got problems he’ll go to reddit. claims reddit saved his life. everyone’s tired of the story so they stopped asking.

Charles

same as arthur and has both facebook and instagram and posts the same on both except his are pleasing to look at. 

they’re unintentionally aesthetic 

he uses a psd on all his pictures and won’t share what it is

has monthly life updates that start with some inspirational or deep quote and then text that pushes the instagram word limit

also has a deviantart , has shared psds there before , constantly tries to convince Arthur to get it.

Abigail

the definition of a facebook mom. 80% of her facebook posts are about Jack or parenting. 

Instagram is similar but also different, she’s actually a relatively successful influencer with over 1,000 followers. 

all of her friends and family (who have instagram) follow her

has snapchat solely for the cute bitmojis and to send John adorable snaps of Jack playing with all the fun filters. 

she also won’t take a selfie unless it’s with snapchat because she no longer trusts her own camera. 

also uses pinterest and has a collaborative board with all the ladies. 

but in general, on her own, she has too many boards. she uses pinterest for EVERYTHING 

Sadie

bold of you to assume she uses social media. 

she does just not a whole lot. 

checks it once in the morning and once at night. 

except pinterest because how dare Abigail get her into it. but even pinterest she only uses in downtime.

I think there's a real art to being able to write X Reader fics, and I think the more you write, the more nuance you develop in order to weave a story around the reader's characteristics to make it inclusive while also personal. i think there's a conversation to be had about inclusivity in the YouTube x Reader community, and while the heavy prevalence of NB!Reader fics is amazing, we still have to look at what other biases we're inserting into our works. descriptions of, or moments regarding, the reader's skin tone, size, hair, clothing choices, family, etc, should be considered carefully if you're looking to make this as accessible as possible for the wide variety of readers. i appreciate people who specify if they're writing a particular type of reader (chubby!reader, or short-haired!reader, etc) because it sets a precedent for the fic, but if you go in without that caveat and suddenly the reader is being described as tanned or with long wavy hair or something, that breaks the immersion and alienates the readers who don't fit this narrow description. uh, also this is just a small thing, but when writing NB!Readers, don't forget about AMAB nb folks existing and being taken into consideration in your writing.

like i said, there's an art to being able to write around describing the reader, while still making the story feel personal. we just have to think about if what we're writing would make sense if we were not ourselves, if that makes sense???

also just personally i'd like to see more diversity in the people chosen for the representations of the read in IG/SMAU posts.

I actually don't have one definitive answer for this because I've been writing for a very long time so I have a few favourites for different reasons.

You haven’t had an active Hanahaki Season in the four years since you started YouTube, and you think that since you’re in quarantine, not going outside, not meeting new people, you’ll be fine this year too! Except that you start playing Among Us with a group of people you’ve never met before, friends of friends, including the elusive Corpse Husband, who’s kind, and funny, and may be flirting with you, but you’re not quite sure. The point is, you make friends with him not expecting much beyond a streaming buddy, but then you get talking more often, chatting and joking at all hours in DMs, and he’s calling you sweet nicknames on stream, and you wake up on the first day of your Season coughing up flower petals and cursing yourself for falling for a man who’s first name you don’t even know!

1. Why did you choose your url?

As a kid, Nico Rosberg was the only thing that held my interest in F1 while my parents watched it every weekend. He’s remained one of my favorite figures in motorsport over the years, and I’ve always found the way merc fans tend to deny his existence kinda hilarious. However cruel the moniker, he’s always sorta been the other mercedes driver—affectionately, of course.

Well I joined F1blr a couple weeks after getting into F1, when I realized a lot of my friends didn’t know much about it— I wanted to have a place to interact with people who do!

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

For a while now my blog has had an almost-monochromatic, black/white/red color scheme, which I just love for the gothic vibes, and because Charles is almost always photographed in one of those three hues. This photo shoot of his is one of my favorites and I thought this picture captured a really great moment, with him looking different than he does in almost any other picture. I’ll change it from time to time, but for now I’m very happy with it.

7. Why did you choose your header?

I just thought this clip of Charles was absolutely gorgeous. It turns all the thoughts in my head into pretty boy pretty boy pretty boy

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

Probably… Be Kind to Drivers? I wrote it back in the early stages of discovering F1, when I had a lot of faith in who the drivers were as people. My perspective has changed since then, but I’m glad I wrote it, because sometimes I’ll look back and remember those really giddy, excited days and remind myself why I love this sport.

Honestly I have no idea and I have no idea how to check. I’d guess around 20? Maybe 30? Max? But I love them all, so much

I understand where they’re coming from, and if it’s a work of art I typically agree. But I also resent the notion of reblogging for the sake of reblogging because I feel like it detracts from the value of things I find truly special.

Meghan Markle: Does The British Tax Payer Know How Much 'Me-Gain' Royal Is Costing?

The Duchess of Sussex, aka Meghan Markle, is watching her popularity and acceptance sinking, possibly taking the British Royal Family with her. Apparently, the way to make the public in Britain like her is to spend tax-payers money on PR machines on both sides of the Atlantic, in addition to a generous allowance.

Being in the public eye puts a person under a degree of scrutiny – and especially when you are a Royal. Some voluntarily choose the public eye, and some are born into it.

It is also not easy to be famous in the age of social media, especially as an entertainer, sports star or actress. Royalty also endures scrutiny, as we can attest to with the lives of Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne, and even Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Mixing the two, entertainer and royalty, results in a new breed of fame, which can sometimes work out. Or not.

Just last weekend (March 23) in The Express tabloid it was reported that royal expert, Anna Pasternak, ventured that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s marriage is “going to become increasingly difficult.”

The author of ‘Untitled: The Real Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor’, Pasternak claimed that Duchess is heading into a “tricky situation” – akin or similar to that faced by Wallis Simpson and Princess Diana, where the “ultimate goal is survival.” Strong stuff. Like Simpson, Markle is a divorcee.

The most famous marriage of royalty to entertainment was in 1956 when Grace Kelly, the American film actress, became Princess of Monaco after marrying Prince Rainier III in April of that same year.

One of the most famous actresses in the world at the time, armed with a stable of films for which she received high acclaim, plus an Academy Award for Best Actress (1955) tucked under her arm, retired from acting at the age of 26 and began her duties as the Princess of Monaco.

According to reports, Princess Grace was loved and accepted by the public during her lifetime, and when she died at the age of 52, according to biographer Jeffrey Robinson, “…it was like the lights went out. Monaco just stopped.”

Move forward to 2018, where another actress has married into a royal family – this time, in the United Kingdom (U.K), which has for the last three years been torn apart by ongoing Brexit trials and tribulations. The tension in the country is palpable.

Meghan Markle, a relatively small-time actress say some, married Prince Harry of Wales on May 19, 2018, at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

Although not so well known prior to this – her second marriage – she was best known for a small role in a series named Suits. Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and sixth in line to thrown, on the other hand, was the younger son of one of the most famous Royals in history, Princess Diana of Wales, and known throughout the world due to his Royal status.  His Royal Highness spent ten years working in the Armed Forces, ending operational duties in 2015.

Meghan Markle, who grew up in a middle-class household, was looked after by her family throughout her life. When her father won the lottery when she was nine years old, he seemingly made sure that every cost was covered for Meghan, sending her to the best schools and training. Well, why not if you have it.

Of course, Prince Harry grew up as a Royal, and unlike his brother Prince William, seemed to like the partying side of life a little more. As his Royal Highness grew up he was in the papers often, normally for partying in Las Vegas or some other antics. But he knew the price of being in the public eye and putting a foot out of place. Yet he is 100% British and the public love him, still, regardless of these reports.

There was finally an announcement in November of 2017 that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were engaged, which was soon followed by an interview, which was the start of Meghan’s descent.

During this interview, Meghan proclaimed that she did not know much about Prince Harry, and because she was American, did not really understand the importance of the Royal family – although she was snapped in a photo in front of Buckingham palace when she was 15 and apparently had many books on Diana and the royal family, according to reports.

All of this gave fuel to the British public, who started to leave negative remarks in the comments sections of online publications by the hundreds, if not thousands.

At Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding, on May 19, 2018, there were no family present from her side, except for her mother, in sharp contrast to the marriage of Catherine Middleton and Prince William of Wales, the now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Catherine was surrounded by friends and family, with her sister acting as Maid of Honor in pictures that went viral for ‘that dress’.

Meghan’s wedding received widespread attention for the lack of family and close friends. Prince Charles gave her away, although her own father is alive and living in Mexico, and she had her own shadow as a Maid of Honor. Again, the British public were left puzzled, as seen by the comments in the media.

Of course, with their exclusion from this great event, Meghan’s own family took great exception, with the most vocal being Samantha Markle – followed by her father, uncles and cousins – who could not understand why this happened. And, they never got an answer. But they had a clue when Prince Harry went on the radio and said that the Royal family would now be the “family Meghan never had.”

Meghan’s family shot back immediately that this was all a lie, protesting and offering proof of the opposite. Samantha even explained that the father financed all of Meghan’s education, while Meghan stated at a conference she paid for her own education. Yet Samantha has receipts from the father, apparently.

At the same time, reports of the cost of this wedding, mixed with the drama of the Markle family, hit fever pitch. According to the British tabloid, the Express, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Royal wedding is said to have racked up a £32 million bill (c.$41.6 million at the current exchange rate), with the majority of that hefty sum (paid for by the British taxpayer) going towards security – a whopping £30 million (c.$39 million), to be exact.

One might argue that with all the zillions of tourists flocking to Britain with pull of Buckingham Palace, seeing the Royals and the nation’s deep and rich history, it was frankly a drop in the ocean.

Figures also show that £1.5 million (c.$1.95 million) was spent by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), a U.K. government department that has responsibility for the creative industries, tourism and leisure across the nation. Some will be more familiar with the DCMS in the pursuit of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in giving oral evidence before the committee in Parliament.

All this while wages and living standards for your average working Brit are depressed and have been so since the last financial crisis around a decade ago.

The public seems to have had enough now, with people writing on sites that they feel Meghan is embarrassing the Royal Family, and the public in turn, even “taking them for fools”, adding that “Harry is a young and naive and cannot see what is happening before him.” Prince Harry is 34 and Meghan in 37, which is very close in age.

People have seemingly too become incensed at all of the reports and apparent lies that Meghan has told, and started to turn against the Duchess of Sussex now in serious numbers, on blogs, forums and websites. Not Harry. Meghan. The Duchess of Sussex.

She has even apparently been given a nickname by royal staff at the royal household – “Me-Gain.” And, Harry quite clearly is said to be very unhappy with that.

Dicky Arbiter, a Royal insider and ex-Palace press, speaking to Nine News Australia on Harry’s reaction to these reports, was quoted as saying: “He would be angry that something like this is coming out. You have got to remember too…I mean, you were here for the wedding and you saw how the media were operating. They were putting Meghan and Harry right up on a pedestal. Since the end of summer in the autumn, they have been chipping away at those pedestals and really having a go.”

Cosmopolitan magazine stated in a report referring to “Me-Gain” comments apparently made by royal staff writing: “To be honest, there’s probably little to no truth to rumors that staff call Meghan by this nickname, but that doesn’t make the reports any less hurtful, obvs!” That said, gossip about the Royal family certainly sells newspapers.

Every day it seems, articles come online and in print about Meghan, reporting on everything from the dishes she serves guests (avocado on toast) to her wardrobe (with outfits costing  up to £100,000 (c.$130,000 each), her extravagant baby showers – two to be exact and more.

The public perception of her started to sink faster than a millstone in water. They made it clear that they would not suffer another Wallis Simpson.

The palace knew they were in trouble and started to hire PR, separating the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from the Cambridges, and giving them their own household.

According to reports, even Prince William and Catherine observed the negative publicity, fearing it will outshine the work and legacy of the Royal Family as a whole, and wanted to separate themselves from what has been labelled “the Markle Effect.”

Meghan Markle’s PR chief     moved positions and became the fifth aide she has lost since she married     Prince Harry. According to The Sun, Jason Knauf is now a “senior adviser” for the     Cambridges’ charities. In addition, the general consensus among royal reporters is that Meghan is     seen as difficult and high energy and is said to “snap” at palace     employees.

Following this move, and     the desire to separate the Sussexs’ from the Cambridges’, according to The     Daily Mail The Queen agreed to the creation of a Household for     The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and gave permission for it to be based at     Buckingham Palace.

As part of the new order,     Harry and Meghan have named Sara Latham, Hillary Clinton’s former Senior     Campaign Advisor, as their new dedicated head of communications. With     costs estimated and thought to be in the ball park of £500,000 to £1     million (c.$650,000 to $1.3 million), it will be paid for by the tax     payer. The ultimate irony. They are spending tax-payers money to make the     Duchess of Sussex likeable to the very people who are not warming to her,     by spending their money.

Viscount Yves de Contades, CEO of International Excellence Magazine and luxury expert remarking on these recent matters, said: “Relating to populist media through PR experts has become indispensable, because if you are not talking to them directly, they will simply take it from any source – however unreliable.”

He added: “Unfortunately sensational stories get read substantially more than the truth. Good PR is about maintaining certain values and connecting honestly with your audience. And, it would be wise to pay those bills yourself.”

Frank Marr, CEO and owner of A Marr + Associates and a reputation management/PR expert based in London, said: “Reputation management is imperative for the monarchy. In an era of discontent, erratic political situations along with the big gap between the rich and the poor, there has never been a more important need to explain why the royalty is needed for the nation.”

He added: “Their role as pillars to society and how they can play their part to support the nation [Britain] needs to be managed in order to maintain reasoning for this existence of influence.”

Is this really the right approach?

According to inside sources, who like Meghan’s friends cannot be named, Royal Communications have a very lucrative deal with People Magazine in America. The reason? Apparently, they feel if Americans fall in love with her, then the Brits will naturally follow.

This is made clear when American actors like George Clooney have recently criticized media treatment of Meghan saying she is being “pursued and vilified”, and likening her scrutiny to that was received by Princess Diana. Like all PR for Meghan, this statement, too, seems to be doing more harm than good, with thousands of people leaving vitriolic comments.

Others have expressed the thought that “Princess Diana-style PR will backfire on Meghan Markle and it’s not worth the gamble”, as reported in The Sun. And why is that? This one is quite simple. Because she is not Princess Diana, and many people are quick to point out that she is quite the opposite.

According to Lorraine Kelly’s viewpoint, the well-known Scottish journalist and broadcaster wrote: “Meghan Markle has mishandled her relationship with her dad Thomas ever since she began dating Prince Harry and she seems intent on making it worse.”

“By all accounts the Duchess of Sussex has taken it upon herself to brief several of her “close friends” to blab to a U.S. gossip magazine about how hurtful she has found the whole saga, and that – contrary to what everyone thinks – she has been in touch with her father Thomas.”

And, according to Samantha Markle, this could not be further from the truth. And again, she has the proof.

The British public expect the Royal Family to be wholesome. Perhaps not virginal, but wholesome, and a divorcee from America who has perhaps told a little fib or two, or ten, is just not sitting well.

And, the fact that the British public, again, are left paying the bill is a bridge too far for many of them as she as seen as the antithesis of what a Royal should be – loyal, demure, honest, caring, family oriented, frugal and modest.

Meghan is appearing, by her own fault, to be none of these. And to be honest, why would she want to be anything but herself? Why should she care what the people think about her? Well, again, it is simple. It is because she now represents a Royal Family, one which has outlasted most, and wants to live to see another day.

According to an article in Town and Country magazine, Meghan is worth $5 million compared to Prince Harry’s $40 million, a sum he has accumulated from funds left in trust to him by his mother, Princess Diana, an inheritance from the Queen Mother, and his former salary as a captain in the British Army.

Yet, the British public ARE paying for Meghan’s PR, and hopefully they will learn to love her, for Harry’s sake. Regardless of what opinions are about Harry’s girl, the bill for Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is being paid for by the British tax payers, and hopefully they will get what they pay for. And, it’s certainly racking up in any currency.

Let them eat cake? You betcha!

I... don’t think I have one? I’m very sarcastic, but not one for many jokes, I guess.

4. If you didn’t have to work for money ever again, how would you spend your days? What would you do?

I’d study plastic arts and creative writing in different cities of the world. I’d go out for coffee every morning, buy some flowers and make a point of grabbing lunch - and taking care of the bill - with my closest friends whenever I’m back home. 

5. Would you rather live in a cottage in the forest, or by the beach? How would you furnish and decorate it?

I live by the beach and I love it. It’s hard for me to disassociate myself from the ocean. My decorating style changes often. I love artsy shit, I love a room with personality, I love drama and I also love being able to built and replace things on a whim. All I can say is I’d decorate it in a way that whenever you came inside you’d be like ‘oh. so that’s who she is’.

I got Charles Flores wiki page. I really like it. He was a cuban bassist - I never heard of him, but love a fellow musician - in a time where studying jazz, as well as other american genres, was prohibited in Cuba. I also like that his last name means flowers in spanish/portuguese.

7. Have you been wanting to try something for a while, and what is it? E.g. a hobby, a new activity, etc.

Hmm I’ve been wanting to take ceramics classes for a while. It’s hard for me to find the time and also to spend the money, but. I’ll look into it after - if? - things go back to normal after COVID.

8. What’s your favorite website/app?

My favorite site is probably CupOfJo? It’s a little weird, I’m not one for following blogs, but I visit it every day and always find some deeply human takeaway either from the posts, the comments, the comics. I love reading about Jo’s and many others approach to motherhood even though I don’t intend on having children. It’s very soothing somehow.

9. What's the story behind your favorite memento?

Ok, so the memento is the story, really. My favorite thing in the entire world is probably a picture of my grandmother looking absolutely scandalized as she opens a gift: a big cock-shaped chocolate. It was probably easter celebration or something and she got it as a gag gift. (on a different note: is giving chocolate at easter a brazilian thing or is it common?)

10. What’s something you always wanted to do as a child but never got to do it?

Go to Japan to see all Sailor Moon-related things. I mean, I still intend to go to Japan (and to include some SM content in it), but I haven’t and have no plans of taking a trip completely devoted to it lol
