🎉🎉 17 & 19 pretty please?

17. Describe a fic that is still in the ‘ideas’ stage. 

 Oooh there are so many, it's hard to choose one but I mentioned Steve being able to see ghosts yesterday so how about that one since it’s spooky season. 

 Steve who's been able to see ghosts since he was little, learned not to talk about it after an unpleasant trip to an asylum. Learns to pretend he cannot see them, to put on the King Steve front at least until Barb dies. 

 It’s different seeing someone he actually knows haunting his pool  and following his girlfriend around everywhere he goes there she is, and oh boy once she realizes he can see her, she has a lot to say. There is a lot of arguing because she wants him to tell people he can see her and he absolutely will not because he knows where those words lead and he cannot go back there. 

 Yada yada some more plot for season one intermingled. Benny showing up and being all go find this little girl living in the woods that everyone thought died or was trapped in the upside down (Season one ends weird and I don’t get why Mike and Hopper are the only two that thought El might still be out there anyway) Steve doesn’t want to go in the woods, he knows what's out in the world now, but he gets up anyhow. Barb and Benny help him find El which is how Benny moves on and Steve unintentionally gets a little sister and he gets adopted by Hopper because he shows up at his door with El like "I'm too young to be a single parent this is for you." 

 Hopper hauls him inside with her giving him the cop look all "how did you find her I've been looking all week (or for months, I dunno)" Steve just gives and awkward shrug not about to admit and El gives him that knowing look which is growing on him at least she didn't act like he was crazy when he started talking to air. 

 Steve gets a lil sister he maybe always wanted, El has more than Hopper to rely on for healthy social behavior not that the guy she commonly catches talking to air really counts. She knows he's talking to someone she can't see, someone who's there but not, they're just out of her range. 

 Barb nagging Steve into nagging Nancy to relax and act like an actual teenager. Barb consoling Steve after the bullshit incident, she's pretty much Steve's only real friend at this point. Yada yada, season two stuff happens. 

 Bob the ghost asking Steve to relay a message and Steve awkwardly trying to compile without outing himself. El saves him the trouble and relays the message for him and no one really bats an eye at the idea that she can get messages from ghosts too. 

 Barb moving on once her death is finally revealed and her parents move on with their lives. Steve definitely has a  sad little breakdown over losing Barb and being alone again. Yada yada season three shenanigans. 

 Billy doesn't die but he's trapped in the upside dying and keeps deciding to lurk at Steve's house. Steve tries not to acknowledge him at first, it's not like they were friends but he also sacrificed himself protecting El. Steve is pretty sure he would prefer Hopper haunting him at least the man would be less distracting, as it is half the time he sees Billy he's without his shirt. Steve tries not to think too hard on Hopper being gone, about how he must have moved on right away. 

 So inevitably he breaks, probably catches Billy masturbating on his bed or accidentally responds to some insult Billy has about his room or his taste in music. Billy of course doesn't think he's a ghost but that's pretty standard. 

 They obviously hit it off this time around with Billy having no one to prove anything to because he's supposedly dead right. So they end up being friends, a double edged sword for Steve who knows it's only a matter of time before Billy moves on just like Barb did. 

 Steve doesn’t listen to Billy’s instance about thinking he isn’t dead, until he starts complaining about the ash always hanging around making a joke about no wonder he saw some guys in hazmat suits dragging off someone who looked a lot like the chief of police. 

 Which is how Steve has to try to explain to the kids, Robin, Joyce, probably Nancy and Jonathan that Billy is maybe alive and probably Hopper and they need to go in the upside down to find him. 

 Not really sure what will happen between that and the happy ending where Billy’s fully recovered and probably trying to convince Steve to take him to an authentic haunted house "Don't worry pretty boy I'll hold your hand the whole time." Steve kissing him to get him to shut up when he keeps persisting he won't know it's haunted unless Steve is there to confirm. 

 This got a wee bit out of hand

19. What’s your favorite character headcanon? 

 Probably Steve learning to braid hair because of Carol. Carol’s mom dies when she was young and her step mother doesn't come into the picture for a long time after. Braid becomes a trend for all the girls in their  second or third grade class and some of the girls make fun of Carol for not having her hair the same way. 

 Steve spends all weekend practicing the braid after Carol cries. It starts with just a simple braid and then Carol will come over with a magazine or something showing him a new one and Steve will spend his weekends using Carol's hair to figure out the braids and do them in the mornings before school. 

 It's one of my faves to the point I started an entire story because of it and I haven't finished it yet but one day I'll put the prom fic out. It starts with a more in depth back story on why he learned to do it in the first place and then comes around to him doing everyone's (Carol, Billy, and Robin's) hair for prom.
