I AM CONVINCED THIS MAN DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING! THINK ABOUT IT:

The hover discs Aunt Arctic mentions automatically despawn after you use them to place the detectors/transmitters in both episodes they appear in. With the knowledge that Gary does not test his inventions often, to the point where Aunt Arctic feels the need to warn you...is that intentional feature(keep in mind you use them to access higher up areas like the ceiling of the Sea Caves)...or a bug because he did not test them? Keep in mind the discs disappear near-immediately once you're done placing objects, so you CAN end up free-falling to the ground afterwards from several feet above in the air.

Knowing this, what else is this man hiding? Sure, we know that the Auto-Warbler 3000 works...but is that because this is an invention he personally tested, or in spite of being untested? Did the Jet Tube's avoidance systems have glitches because of an unforeseen bug Gary happened to run into...or is this something he made, gave to Rookie and didn't test for whatever reason?

Keeping this tidbit in mind, is Gary knocking down Herbert's defenses because he is SO smart, or did he just get lucky? Is he better at programming than making inventions? Or does he actually test his coding skills more than his inventions? If so, why?

IF this 'brilliant penguin' was intended to be Gary (which I'm fairly certain it is but hey, CPI closed down before it's time so who knows for sure?)

Is the reason the Party Sub ended up sitting in the Sea Caves related to his tendency to not regularly test his inventions? Or was it simply because it broke while he was testing it?

Because he does not test things as rigorously as his Club Penguin counterpart (who, as we know makes up to 3000 versions of his inventions before they are considered done, and asides from some examples like Mascbot's being used at their 'near-perfect' 2999th iteration or prototypes like the Electromagnet 1000 are rarely used until then)... does Club Penguin Island Gary name his inventions with the '3000' at the end because they have been tested, or for aesthetic reasons?

An earthdog weekend in which I drive multiple hours to camp and volunteer at a test that my dog doesn't run in.

#my first time observing an earthdog test #I ended up stewarding (front row seat to watch the dogs do their thing) #and now I am collecting verification of stewarding papers in case in the future I want to be a judge #everyone was hella nice and absolutely commited to getting a young person into the sport (I am a club member and show up to practices) #I have a judge I could apprentice under #and a list of dogs I could borrow to run 👌 #I am a hella anxious person so the fact I was able to make so many connections is wild #connected with a border terrier breeder #a wire hair daschund breeder #someone who does tracking locally #and someone who does blood trailing #turnpike #pig got to wiggle and worm

✨Half-Assed Writing Hiatus ✨

Heyo everyone! Firstly: thank you all so much for participating in the event with me! This year's Candy Hearts were so much fun, and everyone's responses made my day! :D

Onto the announcements!

The Candy Heart Masterlists should be out by this weekend! I need to finesse them a bit and add the remaining prompts in, but that shouldn't take too long. The latest it'll be out is either Saturday or Sunday! <3

As for the months of March and April, I'll be taking what I call a "half assed writing hiatus"; I don't plan on not writing at all; I just won't be posting my usual 3x per week fic schedule. If I do write, fics will be a bit more sporadic than usual and likely posted on the weekends. I'm giving myself some breathing room after all those dabbles kjarkeajrkaejkr

So yee! I think that's about everything? I'm gonna try to answer all the asks I've gotten since the dabbles when I get the chance, until then I wish you all a fantastic day! Drink lots of water, stretch, and know that y'all are absolutely fantastic the way you are :3

alright. know what? with Secrets of the Obscure right around the corner and plenty of new Mists-related sky island settings coming with it, I'll just bite the bullet and interest-check a little something I've been turning in my head for a long, long while.

would YOU be interested in a Mists-based GW2 roleplay guild that uses a lore compliant multiverse system to allow canon, canon-adjacent, lore-breaking, and otherwise 'contradictory' muses to coexist in the same setting?

simply put: every writer's cast would be set in their own self-contained universe. as such, everyone could bring whatever muses they want with their own personal headcanons, and no one could dictate what is or isn't canon for anyone else. so long as your muses are GW2-based, you're good to go! bring your Commanders, bring your canon-divergent OCs, bring your canon muses-- and yes, even the ones that are 'supposed' to be dead. who can say what might have happened in a strange world far across the Mists, after all?

neutral hubs and in-character safety guardrails would be in place to keep all muses on a relatively even playing field regardless of their power, history, and prestige, too. play hardball if you like, but it might not end quite the way you'd hope. the main rule would be to maintain good OOC etiquette at all times: no godmodding, no metagaming, no theft, don't blend IC and OOC, and so-on.

I still think that American comics fans being elitist is annoying. Like I get there are lots of characters and series that have been running for literal decades, but here's the main reason I like manga and reading manga more:

Say you're a normie. You watch the One Piece Live Action and get interested in the series. You ask "hey, where should I start?" and most ppl will say "Episode 1 of the anime or Chapter 1 of the manga". You might get told about One Pace but that it's largely for post-timeskip arcs, and you're told about the filler arcs but it's pretty straightforward.

You see your nephew wearing a Jotaro Kujo t shirt and want to check out the series. Where do you start? Part 1, Chapter 1. The first part is called Phantom Blood so you watch the first episode of it.

You play Batman: Arkham Knight, you thought Nightwing looked cool and maybe you liked watching the Diniverse cartoons as a kid. You've never read the comics though, so you ask "Hey, I want to read some Nightwing comics. Where should I start?". You're gonna get dozens of different answers from different people, with dozens of potential starting points/universes/reboots/authors/artists. For people getting into comics it can be really daunting lol. It's no wonder that adaptations like shows and games stick with a wider audience appeal, especially when you encounter Those Fans of the comics that shit on any adaptation and character interpretation they don't like.

I get disliking and hating how one adaptation can ruin public perception of a character you love. Like I love the Justice League cartoon and Shayera Hol in it, but DCAU!Hawkgirl and actual Comics!Hawkgirl are entirely different. And because JL Shayera IS so ubiquitous and known by the public, it means that even more comic-accurate versions of Hawkgirl get derided as "not the real Hawkgirl" by people who've never read a comic with her in it.

Like the Diniverse is far from perfect adaptation wise. Mera is one of my faves in DC and she gets little to no characterization in JL and JLU. Her turning into a Red Lantern defined my adolescence on so many levels and you'd never know how rad she is if you only were exposed to the animated series like JL as a kid to shape your idea of the character.

It's hard to be patient with tourists entering your hobbies and acting like they know everything, I get it. But I really wish those loud asshole comics fans would chill a bit when people genuinely want to get into a series or character lol

There’s no such thing as too many open-submission zines so I decided to actually go ahead with it.
