Again I know it's supposed to be a haha reference to the turns into a bear when he's too aroused thing, but in again refusing to brush just over the surface of this character: "I must be careful or I'll lose run of myself again. An Archdruid should show *some* restraint." comes across to me as more melancholy than perhaps intended when a. You take it into consideration that several lines imply that Halsin has issues with self control and self servitude, and presenting an "acceptable" version of himself as an outwards facing authority figure, to the point where he brushes over his own feelings, or pushes things that he wants down in the effort to reflect better what others want from him.

And b. Remember that Halsin was essentially just an apprentice when he was forcibly situationally promoted to Archdruid - he wasn't taught *how* to be an Archdruid or trained for it, or mentored; he was thrust into it because they didn't have any other choice. But they needed someone, so he stepped up. Halsin has spent the last century studying and learning things on the fly or through trial and error, and in a position of leadership like that, he is aware that every failure to uphold that mask *counts* and others *are* very much affected. How many times has he muttered that same mantra? Or heard it thrown around? An Archdruid not having control over their own magic is a big deal. Even when he is no longer Archdruid, he still grumbles it to himself. He's been at it over a century and he *still* doesn't feel like he's gotten it right. Even when he is in a place of progression, of trying to gain hold of himself again, those wisps of failure and self doubt still creep into everything. And that's sad to me.

tim wasn't trying to "replace" kon, he was having a grief-induced mental health spiral and was doing anything and everything to get a chance of getting his best friend back. (the "resurrection of ra's al ghul" event goes over this too - tim and dick have a short fight that ends in tim crying in dick's arms because tim was tempted to use a lazarus pit to try and bring back his dad, steph brown, and/or kon.) it's an unhealthy coping mechanism he exhibits during a period of his life where he's experienced several catastrophic losses back to back, and he's coping poorly. moreover he literally apologized to kon for trying to clone him in adventure comics (2009) #3.

also saying that kon is created as a replacement for superman is true, but acting like he never has an established character outside of "replacement for superman" or that other characters treat him as just a replacement superman, is not. in world's finest three (tim and kon's first meeting) we literally see tim initially turn to kon for backup with metallo, a superman villain, and at first he's dismayed that kon doesn't have all of superman's abilities, but over the course of the two issues, he admires kon's use of his ttk and they establish a mutual respect with each other (they both save each other's lives at the end).

and generally, kon & clark have a very positive relationship in postcrisis comics (aka the continuity that the cloning stuff with tim happens in) - if you want to see more of it, i'd rec "adventures of superman" #506 and superboy (1994) #59 and #70. kon definitely has plenty of issues, but his identity and relationship to superman aren't really the ones in question. (although i'll admit there is the caveat that kon's [lack of] superman-related identity issues is kind of soft retconned in teen titans (2003), which is where the lex luthor retcon is introduced - fun fact, luthor has nothing to do with kon initially!)

this got long i'm SO sorry - it just gets my goat when people tell straight up lies about comics to people who are just getting into reading comics 😭😭 i hope i didn't come off aggressive bc thats def not my intention but i'm sorry if i did!! and i hope you enjoy your comic journey and have fun with it overall!!!

as i said in my previous reply to that anon, i really need to do my own reading before i form an opinion on the ship but your reflections seem very fair and i really appreciate the comic recommendations! and honestly, the whole reason i was interested in timkon was that their relationship seemed very complicated, and therefore very angsty, which is what i live for. so i do really understand why some people like it and some hate the idea of it. from what i've seen so far.... i like it. but i can't really speak on whether or not it is compatible with the canon dynamic of the characters. does that make sense?

Hihi, I just wanted to say (again) that I love your works, whether it’s art or just plain fanfic! I think my favorite has to be either the FMA/ Genshin crossover or Bleach/ BNHA one. ^^ The way you twist your words are so captivating, especially with character studies! Idk, just love the way you can break them down and place em in a new place and just have them fit. As someone who loves crossovers, I heavily admire you and your self-restraint in the respect that [insert character] doesn’t have [insert character]’s friends/ family popping up everywhere if that makes sense? Hehe thank you!!! I’m glad to see another person who enjoys crossovers! I think it’s a shame that there arent more of them, they’re such interesting opportunities for character studies! I think if you’re able to figure out what a character will do when isolated from their preexisting relationships and world there are lots of possibilities to play around with!

I get the temptation to want to see characters interact with people they know and are familiar with, though perhaps due to my own general social isolation, I see a lot of value in writing characters making new relationships when they don’t have access to their old ones. Like what makes them stand out to other people? Why would people want to or not want to be friends with them? What secrets do they keep and what is the threshold of trust or necessity for revealing a secret?

If you want crossover fic recs I have very very many! I really love crossovers haha they’re very very fascinating to me and I hope more people will write them

after much deliberation i gave in and decided to play slay the princess despite my allergy to horror and gore (i keep doing this apparently. if you were here for my Haiz Reads Berserk arc you know i keep doing this). and you know what maybe we've been wrong. maybe you only really do need one (1) female character to satisfy the whole spectrum of Good Feminist Representation after all. we have solved the disney princess conundrum forever and discourse is dead!!

jokes aside the art is so good. the subtle (and less subtle) changes in the character designs that add so much... the sketchy style... a delicious meal for me. except for the very explicit gore but i can't say i wasn't warned! and like it's very good for the story i just sit there half covering the screen with my hand going oh god oh boy no thanks AS ONE MUST SOMETIMES.

Sorta getting those ship thoughts rn thinking of ship scenarios. Theres one Krisnix scenario I think of that happens like, specifically near the end of the 7yg. Like I think there had have to have been a situation where Phoenix enters Gavin law offices(against Kristophs wishes) and just sees Apollo and/or some random receptionist behind a desk. I think either would be shocked to see Phoenix there he just goes up and asks where Kristoph is and they point to his office with a comically shocked face. Then he goes in where Kristoph sorta just goes “Phoenix what the fuck did you do” with some freaked out look while Phoenix walks up to his desk to look at all his expensive fountain pens. Then I think Phoenix just sorta mumbles the most incoherent thing and grabs Kristophs face(jaw?). But with the most. blank expression. Then they just stare at each other, like they love each other(but also definitely want to gouge each others eyes out). Again, they probably love each other but really weirdly. Meanwhile, Apollo/maybe some receptionist are just at the door trying to listen to as much as they can(they both kinda know that they know they’re listening in). Anyways Kristoph would sorta snap back into a nice superficial voice, loudly thanking Phoenix for coming and to “Leave this for later tonight” and to “Dont hesitate to call me!”. Phoenix just sorta laughs while taking those pens with him(to which Kristoph sneers at him for). As he walks out of his office he’d probably say something all gruff nd over his shoulder like “Thanks Kris, I’ll see you tonight”. They’ll definitely see each other tonight at the Borscht bowl club but it’ll just be less tense and more bitter. I think they’re just funny like that

When you've been in the fandom for a super long time sometimes it's hard to remember what stuff is in canon and what isn't. Like sometimes I forget how VAGUE L's background really was in the manga initially. We weren't ever even told in the manga if he was actually an orphan or raised by Watari from childhood on (that was mostly just implied by the existence of Wammy's and then fleshed out more in things like the anime and the one-shots that came later on). Going by the manga alone Watari honestly could've also been just some guy that L hired once he was already an adult

#and i know i can be a stickler for canon a lot #but sometimes i remember this and think it's actually cool when i see people who are newer to it come up with other ideas and theories #that could be just as plausible but just havent been widely thought of or agreed upon by the fandom or authors as the truth #also im not trying to offend by saying this to anybody attached to that backstory i just think its fun to realize #there are many potential possibilities for plausible backstories for L #one of my fave writers in the fandom would often change up the characters like L and B's backstories frequently #between one fic and the next #and i always enjoyed and admired seeing how all the different backstories could still seem plausible and right #l lawliet #watari #p

I think what is missing with 4-sided Dive that Talks Machina had was a third party to have those character discussions with. It's not the same with a fellow PC. Also someone with interviewing abilities, sometimes I feel like they meander so much.

And I do like to watch them talk, I do watch old episodes of AWNP, fireside chat, etc, but for discussing the game/campaign I think the mechanics of it muddles with the flow.

I personally feel no value is added from the tower of inquiry or the cup questions, though I don't mind the game playing at the end since at this point who had their curiosity satisfied can simply leave, but answering while playing which they tried doing at least once I watched didn't work at all.

Edit: Btw when I say no value is added I mean the format (being in a cup, pulling from the tower) and not the questions themselves.
