It's been officially deemed that Stratos is, at the current moment, not safe for Hermes. With Stratos on the near brink of war and Joel being, well. On a bit of a villain arc for a while, that means Hermes now has two kingdoms he can go to, Sanctuary and Animalia. Here's the thing:

Hermes does not know Lizzie nearly as well as he knows his dads. He has barely interacted with her, and while I'm sure she'd be happy to take care of him for a while, he's not her kid.

What if Hermes misses Joel? What if he gets a little bit antsy, and decides that he'd rather risk Stratos than spend more time in an empire where he can't even talk to the locals, and just dips?

What if he finally makes it to Stratos after sneaking out, just to see ruins? He sees fire and war and people far-too still to be sleeping. The thunder isn't his dad doing a fun little trick anymore, strangers aren't friendly and he's stuck in the middle of it. No one to rescue him, his dad too far to reach.

The child of the enemy would be a valuable bargain, there's no morals in war, and if the worst comes to worst and mistakes are made they can always say it was a casualty.
